Chapter 12: Some Things Will Never Change

Chapter 12:

**A FEW HOURS LATER**

bSheridan sat on to floor of the small boat, soaking wet, shivering, with a blanket around her and her knees clutched to her chest. It was freezing cold, but she didn't notice it. She just stared at the spot where the ship had gone down a while ago. With memories of the nights awful events and the rocking of the boat, Sheridan was feeling sick. She looked around her, where other passengers clung to family members with as much fear as her. The boat was quiet. All that could be heard was the sounds of the wind and the water. Sheridan looked at the horizon of the sea and saw that light was started to creep out. She laid her head down on her knees, trying to comfort herself, but nothings could comfort her from the thought of loosing the only man she loved...

**FLASHBACK**

"No, Luis, don't go. I don't want you to get hurt," Sheridan said as she grabbed Luis's arm. He looked at her and said, "I have to help the crew Sheridan. They need all the help they can get. I'll be all right, I promise." Sheridan starred at him with eyes full of fear and worry. Luis cupped her face in his hands and kissed her softly. "Everything will be all right, I promise." And with that, he turned and ran off to help the crew...

**REALITY**

That was the last time that Sheridan saw him, then everyone was thrown into the sea as the boat sank. Only the very lucky got rescued from the sea, including her, but she feared that Luis wasn't so lucky. She wished that he was there to hold her in his arms and comfort her. She looked out at the sea, where many dead bodies were floating around. 'Those poor people,' she thought, 'They didn't deserve to die. Oh god, please, let Luis be all right.'

The small boat arrived at an even bigger boat along with the others. One by one, they were unloaded and some were taken to be given medical attention. Sheridan was given a small bandage to put on her forehead because of a gash. The sun was rising and Sheridan sat on the ship, totally lost in thought. Every once in a while, she would look around, hoping to see him, but she never did.

**IN THE MEDICAL ROOM**

Luis groaned as he started to open his eyes. "Look, he's alive," someone called. Luis opened his eyes, but his vision was blurry. His eyes slowly adjusted and he saw two nurses starred down at him. "Where am I?" Luis asked. "You're on the Blaskana ship. You're ship sank a few hours ago..." Luis jumped up as he remembered what had happened. Going on the boat with Sheridan, the boat sinking, and him trying to help the crew. He had been knocked on the head by a piece of wood and he blacked out.

Luis's eyes drew wide with fear as he thought of Sheridan. "Oh my god, Sheridan." Luis tried to get up, but the nurses held him down. "Where do you think you're going?" One of the nurses said. "I have to find Sheridan. I have to know if she's all right." Luis said frantically. "The doctor will be here to examine you in a minute. It will only take a few minutes to examine you. Then, you can go find your friend." The second nurse said.

Luis finally relaxed and laid back down, as tears started to run down his face. God, he hoped that she was all right. He would never be able to live without her. There was a very little chance that she would have been saved by the rescue boats, but he prayed that she was. He looked around at the people getting medical attention. He didn't see Sheridan, which made him happy. He hoped that she wasn't hurt, but he couldn't wait to see her, just to be sure.

After the examination, Luis got up and walked around, trying to find Sheridan. There were so many people, that it was hard to look. He went outside on the top deck and looked for her there. After a long time of walking, he suddenly spotted something. A woman with short, blond hair was sitting with a blanket around her. "Sheridan!" He called. The woman got up and turned around. He saw her face and smiled. It was Sheridan.

She didn't see him, so Luis calle out again, "Sheridan." Sheridan then turned her head and her eyes made contact with Luis. Her mouth dropped open as she saw Luis standing there. Luis had never been so happy to see her. He ran towards her, pushing other people aside on her way. Sheridan did the same thing, dropped her blanket.

When they finally made it past all the people, they ran into each other's arms. Sheridan couldn't hold back the tears anymore and she sobbed loudly as Luis clutched her tightly. Luis was trying his best to hold back his tears, but he was finding it impossible. Thank god, she was all right. "Oh Luis," Sheridan sobbed into his neck. "Shhh... it's okay, baby, I'm here now." Luis said as he started to rock her slowly.

They stayed like that for a few minutes, holding each other, crying, and not saying anything. Then, with great difficulty, Luis pulled back to look at her. Her cheeks were red from the crying and he saw the bandage on her head. He touched it gently and said, "Oh god, Sheridan, you're hurt." Sheridan took his hand away from her head and held it, "I'm fine, Luis. It's just a little cut. I'm just a little dizzy." Luis embraced her again and kissed her passionately. Sheridan broke it off and looked at him angrily, "Don't ever do that to me again!" "Oh Sheridan. I'll never leave you again." Luis said. He hugged her tightly again and Sheridan laid her head on his shoulder, relieved.

A nurse came up to them and said, "Miss Crane. Didn't I tell you that you were supposed to relax. You have suffered a severe blow to the head and you need to lie down or you'll pass out." Luis looked at Sheridan, "Just a little cut, huh?" "Luis, I'm be fine." Luis suddenly scooped her up into his arms and he said, "I don't want anything to happen to you. You need to relax, like she said."

Luis carried her to a place where there were many mattresses for people to rest on. He found an empty one and laid Sheridan on t, but Sheridan refused to let go. "Stay with me, Luis. Hold me." She said shyly. Luis hesitated for a moment, then laid down on the bed next to her and took her in his arms. She laid her head on his chest and fell asleep. Luis stroked her hair and watched her sleep, thanking god that she was all right.

In a while, the ship reached the harbor and people were started to unload. Sheridan was feeling a lot better now, but Luis didn't want to take any chances, so her carried her off. When they reached their hotel, Luis carried her all the way to the room. He laid her down on it, but before he could do anything, Sheridan jumped up and met him in a feisty kiss. Luis became lost in the moment and kissed her back. He began to run his hands down her sides, but then he regained his senses and pulled back.

"No Sheridan." "But why not? I thought that was your favorite thing to do," Sheridan said seductively. Luis looked at her seriously, "You've had a rough night Sheridan. We should go to sleep." "That is the first time you have ever turned down making love." "I just want to make sure you are all right. We have the rest of our lives for that." Luis said. Touched by his words, she slid into bed with him and they fell asleep...
