Chapter 14: Some Things Will Never Change

Chapter 14:

Luis ran through the church four times, calling out her name. "Sheridan... Sheridan," Luis ran out of breath and stopped to catch it. She wasn't here. God, where was she? She would never leave him like that, she loved him. He knew it. What was going on? Luis turned around as he saw Theresa running towards him. "Luis... I think I know what happened to Sheridan." "Oh god, Theresa, tell me. Do you know where she is? What happened?" "Those drug dealers are still out there Luis. What if they got her?" Theresa said. Luis turned and looked around at the room. "Oh God, no. Please, let Sheridan be all right."

"Luis... you have to find her." Theresa said. "I don't know where to look." Luis said. Suddenly, he got an idea. The wharf, where else would they go to kill someone and dispose of the body? Luis took quickly and yelled back to Theresa, "Call Sam and tell him to bring back up to the wharf." Luis ran out of the church and into his car. He drove off quickly and was out of sight.

How could this be happening... and on their wedding day? Why? God, he should have stayed with her. They had forgotten all about the drug cartel. They were too focused on the wedding. He figured that's what Roger and Pierre wanted... for them to forget about it, then strike. How could he have been so stupid? He hoped that they were there. His gut and his instincts told him that they were. It was the perfec place to dispose of a body.

He got to the wharf in minutes and jumped out. He had no idea where to look in the wharf, but he had to be fast. He saw a fisherman walking by and he stopped him, "Excuse me, sir, have you seen a short blond haired woman with two men?" "Why yes. I saw them a few minutes ago. They are down that way." He pointed to the direction of the north side and Luis ran off like lightning. He had to find her, before it was too late.

Sheridan tried to pull Roger's hand off of her mouth when they dragged her through the wharf. She couldn't believe this was happening. It was their wedding day. "Roger... why are we taking her to the wharf? We could have killed her at the chapel." "This is the perfect place to dispose of her body. No one will ever find it, and her fiance will be heart broken and will never know where her body is." Sheridan's heart broke. Her poor Luis. What would he do if she died? He loved her. God, she didn't want to cause him any pain. Sheridan again struggled to escape from Roger's grasp, but he clutched tighter. "It's no use, Miss Crane. You can't escape now. You will die. No one can save you now."

Suddenly, someone tackled Roger and Pierre from behind. Sheridan got out of their grip and ran away from them. She turned around, several feet away to look at who it was and she saw that it was Luis. She saw Luis fight with both Roger and Pierre at the same time. She stood there shocked, but snapped out of it when she heard something behind her. She turned around and saw Sam run up with three other officers. "Freeze." Sam shouted. Roger pointed his gun to Luis's head and said, "Make one move and he's dead." "NOO!" Sheridan cried as she ran forward. One of the officers held her back. She struggled against him, but couldn't break free.

With one quick movement, Roger turned his gun towards Sheridan and fired. As soon as he did, Sheridan fell back to the ground. Luis pushed Roger off of him as Sam shot them both. Luis immediately ran to Sheridan's side. He took her into his arms. "Sheridan! Oh god." Sheridan opened her eyes and said, "Luis... I'm okay. The bullet missed me." Luis sighed with relief. He looked over at Roger and Pierre, who were lying dead on the floor. They were finally dead.

He looked down at Sheridan. "Sheridan, are you alright? Did they hurt you?" "No, Luis. I'm fine." Luis noticed that Sheridan still had on her wedding gown. "I guess we have to postpone the wedding." "What? No. We've spent too much time planning this wedding." "But Sheridan..." "No, Luis. Let's go back to the church. Let's get married." Luis smiled at her. She was too wonderful. He kissed her lightly, helped her up and they went back to the church.

When they arrived at the church, no one had left yet. When everyone found out that she was okay, the ceremony continued. Luis looked at Sheridan and gave her one last kiss on the cheek. Then, he walked away. Sheridan stared after him, until she suddenly remembered something. She turned around to Theresa and said, "Oh my gosh, Theresa. My gown is dirty. I can't go out there like this." "Don't worry. I have something else you can wear." Theresa took Sheridan hand and led her to another room.

The music started and everyone turned to watched Theresa and Sheridan's nieces walk down the isle. Once they got into their places, they waited for the bride to come. Sheridan stepped out and everyone gasped. She was wearing a shimmering white gown with a little silver tiara. Luis almost lost his balance. He had never seen her so beautiful. She 'was' an angel. Sheridan locked eyes with Luis and began to walk down the isle, never taking her eys away from him. When she reached the alter, Luis had to keep himself from kissing her right there and then. Her eyes were like diamonds and her face looked so happy.

The ceremony started. "We are gathered here to join Sheridan Crane and Luis Lopez-Fitzgerald in holy matrimony. If there is anyone who has a reason why these two should not wed, speak now, or forever hold your piece." Sheridan tensed up. What if Jullian or Alistair said something. She waited for the worst, but nothing came. She looked out at the crowd and at Jullian, who just stood there, staring at her. He wasn't going to say anything. Had he finally given up on separating them? Father Lonagon continued, "Luis and Sheridan have made their own vows for each other. Luis?" Luis took a deep breathe and took Sheridan's hands.

"Sheridan... I love you more than anything in the world. You make my life complete. Who would have thought that we would be here, getting married? The moment I met you was the best moment of my life, even though I didn't know it then. I promise to love you and be a good husband for all times. No matter what happens, I will always love you. I promise to you everything in the world. With this ring, I wed thee..." Luis took out a beautiful diamond ring and slipped it on her finger. Tears fell down Sheridan's cheeks as he continued, "... as my loving, beautiful, wonderful wife... Sheridan Lopez-Fitzgerald."

The crowd clapped their hands and cheered. Luis took a finger and wiped away her tears. Father Lonagon said, "Sheridan?" Sheridan took a deep breathe and said, "All my life, I have been searching for a true love. Someone to love me for who I am, not for my money. When I searched for it, I usually found pain, but it was all worth it. Cause then, I came to Harmony... and I met you. From that moment, my life was changed. I finally found the one. The one man who loves me for who I am... the man I love with all my heart. Luis... I promise that I will love you, cherish you, be faithful, and be there for you always. With this ring I wed thee..." Sheridan put the ring on Luis's finger, "... As the most wonderful husband in the world." The crowd suddenly jumped up and cheered loudly.

Once the crowd settled down, Father Lonagon said, "I know pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss the bride." Luis didn't have to be told twice. He cupped Sheridan's face in his hands and kissed her sweetly. The crowd continued to clap and cheer as the happy newly-weds kissed. When they pulled away, Luis scooped Sheridan up into his arms and ran down the isle. Sheridan laughed as they ran out of the room. Luis spun Sheridan around and kissed her passionately.

They didn't have time to talk to anyone. People came rushing out to talk to them, but Luis and Sheridan ran to the limozine, trying to dodge the flying rice. They got into the limozine and it took off quickly. As the limozie drove away, Luis and Sheridan stuck their heads out of the sun roof. They waved goodbye and Sheridan threw the bouquet at the crowd. The ladies grabbed for it, but when the crowd cleared, Theresa was standing there, holding the bouquet in her hands. Her smiled widely and jumped up and down. As if on cue, Ethan came up behind her, turned her around and kissed her passionately.

Sheridan saw Luis tense up at this, but she turned his head to face her. She caressed his cheek with her hand and brought his mouth down to hers. They kissed passionately as the limozime began to drive off into the horizon. Then, they began their beautiful, wonderful life together. Sheridan and Luis had finally found their own true love. They had overcome all obstacles. Some things will never change... and neither will the love they have for each other.
