Chapter 5: Some Things Will Never Change
Chapter 5:
Doctor Eve Russell finished her examination on Sheridan and walked out of
the room. As soon as Luis saw her come out, he ran over to her, "Eve...
Eve... please, tell me. Is Sheridan going to be all right?" Eve looked at
Luis and said, "I'm not sure, Luis, but I think she will, for the time being
at least." "What do you mean 'for the time being?'" Luis questioned. "Well...
it seems that Sheridan had been poisoned and whoever did this to you is still
out there somewhere, probably planning a next move." Eve answered.
Luis clutched his fists hard. He would be damned if someone ever hurt
Sheridan again. He would never leave her side for as very very long time.
Luis looked through the window at Sheridan, then back at Eve, "If she was
poisoned, why does she have cuts all over her?" Eve replied, "Well... the
kind of poison she was given takes a few minutes to work. She probably felt
dizzy and just collasped on something made of glass." Luis looked back at
Sheridan and thought, 'My poor sweet Sheridan. Don't worry, I'll never let
you get hurt again.'
Luis looked at Eve and said, "Can I stay with her, until she wakes up?"
Eve smiled and said, "Sure Luis. But only for a little while." She opened the
door and let Luis inside. Luis walked up to Sheridan's bed and pulled up a
chair. He sat by her side and took her hand in his. He took the rose from his
hand and sat it by the table next to her. He brought her hand up to his face
and kissed it. He said, "Don't worry, angel, I'll find whoever did this to
you, and teach them a lesson they will never forget."
Outside the hospital, Beth sat in her car, starring up at the building.
She was very mad that her plan did not work. 'If that little brat, Theresa,
hadn't come when she did, Sheridan would be dead, and Luis would be mine...
oh, well... I will just have to try again.' She smiled and said to herself,
"Maybe I should go inside." She got out of the car and walked inside the
hospital.
When she got to the room, she opened the door and saw Luis sitting by the
bed, holding Sheridan's hand. "Luis..." Beth said. Luis turned around and
looked at her. "Oh... hi Beth," Luis said. "How is Sheridan?" Beth asked,
trying to sound innocent. "Well... the doctors say she will probably be all
right." Luis answered. 'Not if I can help it,' Beth thought to herself.
"Luis... why don't you go home?" "I can't... I have to stay with
Sheridan. She needs me." Luis said. "Luis... you need your rest. I can stay
with her." Luis stood up, "Oh would you, Beth?" "Of course," Beth said
smiling. "Oh Beth... you are a wonderful friend. Thank you so much," Luis
said as he hugged her. 'And I'll be an even better wife,' Beth thought to
herself. Luis walked out of the room and Beth walked over by Sheridan's bed.
She starred at her, digusted, and said, "I'm sorry, Sheridan, but you
don't deserve to live. You have taken Luis away from me, and I will not give
him up. Once you're gone, he'll be mine, forever. With that, she put her hand
up to her nose and cut off her breathing. She pressed her hand hard against
Sheridan's face. When she was almost sure that Sheridan would be dead, the
door opened and Luis walked in. He saw she trying to suffocate Sheridan
and he lunged at her. He pulled Beth away from Sheridan and pushed her
against the wall. "What the hell do you think you're doing?!?!" "Luis...
I__." "Oh my gosh. It was you. You were the one who poisoned Sheridan. You
tried to kill her, you bitch." Luis yelled. Beth sighed when she realized
that her plan had failed. Of maybe not, she had to get away from Luis. But
how?
"You mean... did... kill her." Luis looked over at Sheridan and let go of
Beth and ran to her side. Beth took the oppertunity to run away from the
hospital. Luis let her go. He was too worried about Sheridan. He checked her
breathing and was releived to find that she was fine. He sat down next to her
and thought, 'That was close... WAY too close. From now on, I'm not leaving
you alone with anyone, and I do mean anyone.' He leaned forward and kissed
her on the forward and held her hand, waiting for her to wake up.
**A FEW HOURS LATER**
Pilar walked into Sheridan's room and saw Luis, sleeping with his head
resting on Sheridan's bed. He was clutching her hand and his head was lying
on her stomach. Pilar smiled and walked up to them. He stared at them for a
while, thinking about how cute they looked together. Suddenly, she saw
Sheridan's hand move. Her eyes widened just as Luis jumped awake from his
sleep. He had felt the hand move. He looked up at her and saw her turning in
her sleep and she groaned out loud. "Sheridan... angel... wake up."
Very slowly, Sheridan opened her eyes and she saw Luis sitting right in
front of her. She looked around and saw that she was in a hospital. She had
no idea what had happened. The last thing she remembered was being in their
house, eating lunch, when she felt dizzy and she just passed out. She looked
at Luis and said, "Luis... what happened? Why am I at the hospital?" "Shh...
don't talk now, angel, don't strain yourself. You were poisoned and you've
been cut from glass. You need to take it easy." Luis said, putting his
fingers over her lips.
Sheridan smiled at him. He was so concerned and caring for her. Just
then, Eve came in. "Oh great. You're awake. I just got the results back and
you are going to be fine. You just need to take it easy for the next week and
relax. You are free to go when you want to." Eve said. Luis smiled and
Sheridan, "Great. Is there anything important that she shouldn't do?"
"Well... it's best if she stays off her feet a lot," Eve said. Luis got up,
scooped her up into his arms and said, "Check." Sheridan giggled and put her
arms around Luis's neck. "Just be sure to be careful." Eve said. Luis smiled
at Sheridan, who smiled back at him. Everything was going to be all right and
Luis would never leave Sheridan's side again.
Later on, Luis walked out of the hospital, carrying Sheridan in his arms.
Sheridan said, "Luis... you know I can walk. You can put me down now." "No
way... you heard the doctor. You have to take it easy." Luis said. "Yeah, but
that doesn't mean I can't do anything by myself." "Sheridan... you're going
to take it very very easy for the next week." Luis said as he put her in the
car.
When they got to the house, Luis was acting like a man with a pregnant
wife. He volunteered to do everything for her... get her food, turn on the
TV, answer the phone, get the pillows, everything. He just wanted her to
relax completely. Luis sat next to Sheridan on the bed and looked into her
eyes. He stroked her hair, "Are you feeling okay?" "Yeah Luis... I'm fine,"
Sheridan said. Luis smiled lovingly, "I just worry about you. I love you so
much." "I love you too Luis." Luis pulled Sheridan into his arms and she
relaxed. If felt so good to be in the arms of the man she loved again. Soon,
they fell asleep in each other's arms, with smiles on their faces, and no
suspicions about what was ahead of them...
