COMMENTS: Okay this story line is a little different. This is what I think would happen if there wasn't a Luis imposter. Just see for yourself and tell me your thoughts about it.

Chapter 1: Starry Skies

Sheridan arrived at the wharf and walked around to find Luis. She needed to know for sure that Luis felt the same way about her as she did about him. She really enjoyed that kiss they had shared earlier and how Luis talked about a special woman in his life. She hoped that he was talking about her. She was going to prove Jullian wrong. She was going to show him that she was right about Luis. That he was different from all those other men she had dated. She couldn't find Luis, but she found Officer Silvano in the spot where Luis was at earlier. "Excuse me, Silvano." "Yes, Miss Crane?" "Do you know where Officer Lopez-Fitzgerald is? He was here a little while ago."

"Oh, well he had to go back to the station." "Oh I see. Well, I'll just talk to him tomorrow. Thank you." She walked off, feeling somewhat disappointed, but hey, what was another night. She couldn't wait until tomorrow so that she could see Luis. Sheridan walked back to her cottage. She got inside and was just starting to undress when she heard the phone ring. She picked it up. "Hello?" "Sheridan It's me, Luis." "Luis." It felt so good to hear his voice. "Sheridan, hey um, I know it's kind of late now, but, I'm back on the wharf and I was wondering if you'd like to take a walk on the wharf with me."

"A walk on the wharf?" "I know, it sounds crazy, but__." "No, no. I'd love to." "You would? Great. I'll meet you down on the north side in a little while." "Okay, bye Luis." She hung up the phone and was beaming from ear to ear. It couldn't be more romantic. Walking around on the wharf with the stars and heavens up above. She ran out of her house, forgetting to grab her jacket. Later, Sheridan walked down to the wharf to meet Luis. She came to the exact spot where Luis told her to meet him at, the spot where they had kissed. Sheridan felt warm inside despite the chilly whether, thinking about how good it felt to have his lips against hers.

Feeling his strong arms around her, rubbing her and pulling her closer, it made her feel so alive and loved. Suddenly, Sheridan felt too arms come around her. Startled, she jumped and turned around, only to find Luis there. "Luis!" "Hey, Sheridan." "God, you scared me." "Sorry, let's go. Shall we." Sheridan nodded and started to walk, but Luis grabbed her hand and held onto it as they walked, making them both tingle inside. They walked for a long time on the wharf. They talked about life and family, but they were never focused on their conversations. They were always focused on each other. They found a bench to sit on, because they were getting tired. Luis noticed that Sheridan was shivering. "Hey, are you cold?"

"A little." Luis scooted closer to her and wrapped his coat around her, so they were both sharing it. They looked up at the sky. It was so beautiful, looking at all the stars. "Wow, look at the sky." Sheridan continued to stare at the sky, but Luis kept looking at Sheridan. When Sheridan brought her head down, she looked into his eyes. "What do you think?" Luis slightly smiled and moved his eyes from her eyes to her lips and then back up to her eyes. "It's so beautiful." He reached a hand up and brushed a piece of hair out of her face. He let his hand linger there for a moment, before reaching behind her neck and pulling her to him. He captured her lips in a powerful kiss. Sheridan pulled him even closer and Luis wrapped his arms around her, kissing her passionately. The heavens seemed to shine down on them. This was their moment, their moment of love.

A few minutes later, they pulled away from the kiss, breathless. Sheridan smiled up at Luis, than laid her head on his shoulder as she gazed out into the sea. She felt so warm and safe in Luis's arms. It felt so right to be here with him. It was a magical night. She didn't want it to end. Neither did Luis. Just smelling her perfume was driving him crazy. That kiss they had just shared was magnificent. He wanted to stay with her like this forever. Luis heard Sheridan yawn. "Are you getting tired?" "Mmm a little." "Okay, why don't I take you home.

You need to go to sleep now." Sheridan nodded and they got up and walked off to Sheridan's cottage. When they arrived at the cottage, Sheridan was tired, but she didn't want to leave Luis. She would sure like it if Luis could sleep with her tonight, just to hold her tight, but she didn't want to seem like she was propositioning him. After all, they weren't that involved, although, she wouldn't mind that at all. "Luis… thank you for the walk. I had a great time." "No problem, Sheridan, I had fun too." For a few moments, they just stared at each other, not knowing what to do, but then, Luis stepped forward and pulled her into a short, but full kiss.

She smiled as Luis touched the tip of her nose with his finger and said, "See you tomorrow at the Youth Center?" "I'll be there." "Okay, bye." "Bye." Sheridan walked into her cottage and shut the door. Luis stood in front of her door for a moment and sighed deeply, before walking off. He hadn't taken more than ten steps, when he heard Sheridan scream from the cottage. He froze, turned around, and raced back to the door. He kicked it open and ran inside, forgetting to turn on the lights. He saw someone pinning Sheridan against the wall and thought someone might be molesting her.

He ran over to him and yanked him off of Sheridan and threw him against the wall, holding him by the collar. "What the hell do you think you're doing?" Sheridan caught her breath and went to Luis. They could barely see each other. "Sheridan, are you all right?" "Yeah, yeah, I'm fine." Sheridan went to the light switch and turned it on to see who it was. "Jullian?" Luis let go of him as soon as he realized it was Jullian. "What are you doing here?" "I came to say hello to you, and what a welcome I got." "Oh, right. Coming to say hi. Good one, Jullian." "Oh Sheridan. You weren't home and I was just wondering where you were." "Look Jullian, it's late, just leave."

Jullian gave Luis and Sheridan a strange look, then left. "Sorry about knocking down your door." "It's all right. Thanks for coming to my rescue again." Luis smiled, "No problem ma'am." He gave her a soft peck on the cheek, and then left the cottage. Sheridan got into her pajamas and got into bed. She looked at the ceiling. Luis was worried about her. How sweet was that? She sighed. 'I wonder if he's thinking of me too.' At the Lopez-Fitzgerald house, Luis was lying in bed, looking out the window at the beautiful sky. This day had been great. He could finally admit it to himself that he had deep feelings for Sheridan. He used to think of her as the 'ice princess.' Oh the contrary Sheridan was the most loving, beautiful, and caring woman he had ever met. She was perfect. He couldn't wait until tomorrow, when he got to see her again.

Chapter 2: Wake-up Call

Luis sat on his desk in the youth center, happy as ever, for two reasons that he should be making detective soon, and Sheridan. God, he couldn't stop thinking about her last night. She looked so beautiful, like an angel. That's what she was… his angel. Hank, in the meantime, was concerned at why Luis was so happy today, so he went into Luis's office to ask him. "Luis." "Hey Hank. What's up?" "What's up with you today, buddy? Are you keeping something from me?" "You know yes I am, Hank. How does Detective Lopez-Fitzgerald sound to you?"

"Wow so it's official?" "Well, not yet, but it's looking good." "Well, thanks a relief. I thought that maybe your pocket-full of money had something to do with Sheridan." "What does that mean?" "I don't know, like… maybe she was helping you with some bucks." "Oh come on Hank. You know I'd never take money from a woman." "Hey, I know. That's why you and Sheridan would never make a good couple, right?" "Um, actually I have to talk to you about that Hank." "I thought we already cleared the air on this."

"Not quite, the other reason I was late is because I was picking this up for Sheridan." Luis pulled out a purple card. "You bought Sheridan a card? Why?" "Cause I like her and I think she likes me." "Wait don't tell me you guys__." "No, nothing serious has happened yet, but I think it could." "Tell me I'm not hearing this." "Look, would you rather I lie to you...you know she does something that no other woman has ever done to me before she gets to me Hank. I think that maybe she's the one." "Are you serious?" "Yeah I, I guess I am." "Okay who are you and what have you done with Luis?" "It's the same old me Hank." "Like hell it is. You've been against the Cranes for years. You hate that family."

"Look Hank, I told you long ago that I stopped holding Alistair and Jullian's sins against Sheridan. You know, she's not even in their league." "Yeah, I know." "Look, maybe my mother was right maybe love can get people through impossible things like differences in backgrounds or differences in bank balances." "Are you sure there wasn't a pod next to your bed when you woke up this morning?" "I'm sure look Hank, I'm not saying that things are going to get serious with Sheridan, I'm just saying that, right now, I'd...I'd like it to."

"Well, you should know that I'm not giving up without a fight." "I would expect nothing less may the best man win." "That would be me." They shook hands and Hank left the room. Luis sat in his desk and looked up at the clock. "I can't wait until Sheridan gets here." A couple hours past by, and Sheridan had not arrived at the Youth Center. Luis was getting impatient. He was desperate to see her, to hold her in his arms again and kiss her.

Suddenly, a thought came into his mind. What if she's in trouble? Luis tried to push the thoughts away, but couldn't. He jumped up, grabbed his coat and race out the door and drove off to Sheridan's cottage. A few minutes later, Luis arrived at the cottage. He jumped out and ran to the door. "I hope she's all right Sheridan! Sheridan!" Luis pounded on the door. There was no answer. "Oh god, please let Sheridan be all right." Luis stepped back and kicked down the door. He turned on the lights and looked around the living room.

She wasn't there. Luis's heart began to race. He searched the whole house, but he forgot to check the bedroom. He ran to her bedroom door and threw it open. He sighed when he saw Sheridan sleeping soundly in bed, with a smile on her face. "Oh thank god." Luis walked over to her and sat on the edge of the bed. "Sheridan...Sheridan." Sheridan slowly opened her eyes and saw Luis staring down at her. "Oh Luis." She reached up behind his neck and pulled him down into a fiery kiss. Luis responded vigorously. He had waited all night to kiss her again and he couldn't wait any longer. He wrapped his arms around her. She fell back onto the bed, pulling Luis with her, so he was on top of her. Things were getting out of control. Luis ran his hands seductively up her sides. His lips left her neck and started to trail kisses down her neck. He reached down and pulled her nighty shirt off and threw it across the room.

Sheridan did the same to him and crushed him into her. Luis was going crazy, feeling Sheridan's breasts against his chest. He didn't know how much more of this he could take. He was about to reach for her pants, when he heard someone call, "Sheridan...it's Pilar." Oh god, his mother was here. Luis and Sheridan quickly grabbed their shirts and scrambled to get them on. Pilar came in and Luis and Sheridan tried to look innocent. "Luis? What are you doing here?" "Oh well Sheridan was late for work again. When I came here, she was asleep. That figures." Sheridan gave him a small punch on the arm. Pilar said, "Well, I brought some fresh towels for you Sheridan." "Oh thank you, Pilar. I'll take them." Sheridan took the towels and went to put them away.

Luis was about to walk away, when Pilar grabbed his arm. Pilar gave him a hard look and he knew that she knew. "I know that you and Sheridan were together on the wharf yesterday. Luis, this will only end hurting both of you." "I can protect myself from the Cranes, Mama." "Yes, but can you protect Sheridan from them." "What do you mean?" "The Cranes are capable of anything, even killing their own kind. What if they killed Sheridan to protect the family name?" Luis hesitated for a moment, and then said, "I won't ever let anyone hurt Sheridan. I can protect her."

"I hope you're right Luis for you sake as well as Sheridan's." Luis looked out the window and sighed. He didn't want anything to happen to Sheridan. He would protect her with his life, if necessary. Sheridan came back and said, "Okay, Luis. I'm getting ready for the Youth Center. Thank you Pilar for the towels." "No problem Sheridan. I'll see you later." Pilar said goodbye to Sheridan and gave Luis a 'be careful' look. After she left, Luis went into the living room to wait for Sheridan to get ready. He heard the shower running and imagined Sheridan, naked under all that water.

Luis was starting to get hot. He was so close to making love to Sheridan. He was glad he didn't though. He didn't want to make a mistake that he would regret. Luis tried to get his mind off of Sheridan and what she looked like at that moment in the shower. "Get a grip, Luis." It took all his strength not to go in there, take her in his arms, kiss her, and make love to her. When she got out of the shower, she got dressed and tried to make herself look extra nice, for Luis of course. She came out of her bedroom and looked at Luis. "Okay, I'm ready to go now." Luis took her hand and led her out the door. They got into his car and drove off to the Youth Center.

Chapter 3: And The Plot Thickens

When Sheridan and Luis arrived at the Youth Center, it looked like no one was there. "Luis, it looks like no one's here." "Let's just go inside, Sheridan." They parked in the parking lot and walked inside. As soon as they were inside, Sheridan asked, "Okay, Luis. What do you want me to do today?" "Um well uh why don't we go into the gym?" Sheridan walked to the door and walked inside, but the room was pitch black. "Luis, why are the lights out?" "Oh, here. Let me turn on the light for you." Luis flipped the light switch.

"SURPRISE!!!" Sheridan jumped up as she saw everyone from the Youth Center jump up. The little kids came running up to her and they hugged her, or at least tried to. They could only reach her hip. Sheridan looked around and saw that Luis had arranged a party for her. There were decorations and food and friends everywhere. "Oh my gosh." She turned around and looked at Luis. He stood in the doorway, smiling. Sheridan wanted so badly to run over to him and kiss him right there and then, but she just smiled a huge smile at him.

Once all the kids had pulled away from Sheridan, Luis walked up to her. "Luis, why are you doing this?" "Because your community service hours are up." "They are?" "Yeah. I figured I'd throw a little party just to say thanks for being so great at the center." "Oh Luis." Sheridan wrapped her arms around him and hugged him. This was so sweet of him to do, but inside, she was crying, knowing that she wouldn't be seeing Luis anymore.

Sure, she would see him around Harmony, but it wasn't the same. Luis hugged her back, but he didn't want to see her leave. He tried his best to add on more community service hours to her work, but he couldn't. It killed him to know that he wasn't going to see her beautiful face in the morning anymore. Sheridan pulled back and looked into his eyes. "Thank you so much, Luis. I'm going to miss this place so much." "Well I, I mean everyone else is going to miss you too. Go enjoy the party."

Sheridan gave Luis another smile before walking off to join the party. "Sheridan." Sheridan turned around and saw Hank coming towards her. 'Oh great, just what I need.' Hank came up to her and wrapped his arms around her and kissed her on the cheek. Luis was just chatting with some people, when he saw someone come up to Sheridan and kiss her cheek. Luis jumped into action, but then he realized that it was Hank. He was his best friend, but he hated to see any other man touch Sheridan. "Hi Hank." Sheridan wished that Luis were the one holding her instead of Hank. "So, do you like the party?" "Yeah, it's great.

Um can you excuse me for a minute Hank?" Sheridan walked away from Hank, leaving him kind of confused. Sheridan started to talk to other people, but she was too focused on Luis. They kept staring at each other, wanting to kiss each other so badly. Suddenly, a song came on. Sheridan and Luis immediately recognized it. The sound they had danced the tango too. "Oh no way." Luis laughed. "Oh come on." The crowd beckoned as they pushed Luis and Sheridan towards each other. Luis and Sheridan finally gave in and started to dance the tango. This time when they danced, it was full of more passion than ever before.

They were so close and so intimate. The crowd watched with awe and amazement as they danced. Some of the mothers even took their kids out of the room because it was too sexy. When the song ended, everyone clapped and cheered, but Luis and Sheridan stared into each other's eyes. Just when they were about to go their separate ways, another song came on. This one was a slow song. "Dance with me, Sheridan?" "Of course." They wrapped their hands around each other and started to sway to the music.

(I try but I can't seem to get myself to think of anything but you. Your breath on my face. Your warm gentle kiss I taste. The truth, I taste the truth. You know what I came here for so I won't ask for more. Chorus: I wanna be with you If only for a night, to be the one whose in your arms, and holds you tight. I wanna be with you There's nothing more to say, there's nothing else I want more than to feel this way.)

Sheridan had never felt more secure and happy in her life. She had finally found the man who loved her just for being her, not for her money or her family. He must have been the mystery man she was searching for all along. Luis pulled back a little and looked into her eyes. They looked so beautiful and warm. He had never met a woman that could do this to him. It felt wonderful. He couldn't believe that he would ever fall for a Crane, but Sheridan was so different from her family. She was a wonderful person. He just wanted to hold her in his arms like this forever.

(Ohh... baby I can't fight this feeling anymore, Drives me crazy when I try to, So call my name, Take my hand can make my wish baby, your command yeah. I wanna be with you, There's nothing more to say, there's nothing else I want more than to feel this way I wanna be with you. Oh yeah, I wanna be with you, wanna be with you yeah. I wanna be, I wanna be with you yeah, I wanna be, I wanna be with you, I wanna be with you yeah. I wanna be with you.)

The music faded out and Luis and Sheridan slowly parted. Sheridan couldn't take it anymore. She slowly exited the room and went to the bathroom. She splashed water on her face. "Get a grip, Sheridan. Luis doesn't feel the same way about you, just as a friend." She looked at herself in the mirror. "Even if he did, who knows what Jullian or Alistair would do if they found out." As soon as she got a grip of herself, she walked out of the restroom. As soon as she did, someone grabbed her from behind and put their hand over her mouth. Sheridan tried to scream and break free, but the person was holding her much to tightly.

What was going on? What did they want with her? "Next time, you'll know not to cross me." Sheridan recognized that voice Jullian. "Sheridan? Sheridan, where are you?" Luis called. Jullian heard Luis coming and dragged Sheridan into a closet. Luis entered the room. "Sheridan?" Luis called. Sheridan closed her eyes, 'Please, find me Luis. Help me.' Hank came into the room. "Luis, what are you doing?" "I can't find Sheridan. Have you seen her?" "No man. This is one heck of a party. She probably got tired." "Yeah, you're right. She probably just went home." "NO, NO!" Sheridan tried to scream, but nothing came out.

Jullian grabbed her hand and squeezed it so hard that she started to bleed. "Well I'd better get back to the party." Hank walked out. Luis picked up the purple card that was lying on his table. He looked at it and smiled. "I didn't have a chance to give her this. I wanted her to know how much I love her." Sheridan felt her heart melt. Luis loved her just as much as she did him. Luis sighed, set the letter down on the desk and went out to join the party again. Once he was done, Jullian dragged Sheridan out of the closet. She stumbled out, but Jullian kept a tight hold on her. "Well now isn't that sweet. He bought you a card."

With Jullian's free hand, he tore open the letter and read, "Dear Sheridan I know that we got off on the wrong foot when we met, but ever since that trip to Santa Fe, I've felt something special between us. I'm sorry that it took so long to realize it, but you are such a wonderful person. You are so unlike Alistair and Jullian. Anyway, I can't seem to get this out face to face, but I just wanted to tell you, that I love you. I know it sounds strange, but I really do. You're the most amazing woman I've ever met.

I just wanted to tell you how I feel. With all of my heart Luis." Jullian laughed. Sheridan had tears streaming down her face. That was the sweetest letter she had ever heard. She wanted so badly to tell him that she felt the same way. Jullian smiled at Sheridan. "Too bad. You'll never see your Latin lover boy again." With that, Jullian dragged her out of the office and out of the Youth Center. The party was finally coming to a close. Soon, everyone left so it was just Luis. He cleaned up everything and made sure everything was in order. He saw Sheridan's coat lying on a chair. He picked it up.

"Sheridan must have left her purse here." He walked towards his office. As he was walking, he looked out the window and saw that his car was still there. The car Sheridan and he had driven to the youth center in. "She must have walked home. That's strange." Luis shrugged it off and went to his office. He sat down and got out some paperwork to do. As he did, he saw the purple card on his desk. It was torn open. "What the?" He grabbed the paper. "If Sheridan didn't open this, than who did? What's going on here?" Luis looked around the room and saw that the closet door was open.

He saw something red on the doorframe. "What's that?" Luis got up and walked over to the closet. He touched the mark with his finger and smelled it. "It's blood." Luis was starting to get worried. He backed up a step and he felt something under his shoe. He looked down and picked it up. It was Sheridan's compact… and it had bloodstains on it. Suddenly, Luis flashed back to the conversation he had with his mother. "I can protect myself from the Cranes, Mama." "Yes, but can you protect Sheridan from them?" "Oh my god," Luis thought out loud. In a split second, he ran out of the office and ran to his car. He started it quickly and drove off, praying that it wasn't too late. To Be Continued...

Chapter 4: One Hell of a Night

Sheridan fell onto the floor with a thud. She tried to catch her breath as she heard Jullian walk back up the stairs. "Where am I?" "You're in the basement." "Why are you doing this?" "I told you not to get involved with Luis. Now there will be consequences. If this is the only way to prevent you from seeing Luis, then so be it." With that, Jullian slammed the door. Sheridan looked around at the dark room she was in. She started shivering, but not from the air. She was terrified. How could her own flesh and blood do this to her? She knew that they were evil, but she never thought that they would do this. She stared out at the small window and up at the sky.

"Please Luis. You're the only one who can help me." Sheridan hoped that her plan worked. She had marked the blood and left the compact. He had to figure it out. "Oh god, Luis, please help me, please." Tears started to stream down her face. She curled up into a ball on the floor and tried to keep herself warm. Luis drove like a mad man to the Crane Mansion. God, he should have seen this coming. He should have known that Jullian would do something like this. He just hoped that they didn't hurt her. If they laid a finger on her Luis stopped his thoughts and tried to focus. He couldn't loose Sheridan.

She had to know how he felt about her. He just wanted to make sure that she was safe. Luis saw the Crane Mansion in the distance and drove faster. When he got there, he parked the car and ran to the door. He knocked frantically. Sheridan heard someone knock and prayed that it was Luis. Jullian quickly wiped off the blood that was on his hands. Ethan walked up to the door and opened it. Luis suddenly ran inside and headed straight for Jullian. "Where is she?" "What are you talking about?" Ethan asked. Luis walked up to Jullian and grabbed him by the collar.

"Okay, Crane. Where is she?" "Get your hands off me." "What have you done with Sheridan, you bastard?" Ethan came up, "Sheridan?" Luis looked at Ethan. "Yes. I found Sheridan compact stained with blood at the youth center." Jullian said, "Well, she could have just cut her hand. Why are you accusing me of anything?" Luis was lost. He didn't know what to say now. Then, he saw the red mark on Jullian's hands. He grabbed his hands and said, "What's this red mark on your hands? Blood?" Jullian didn't say anything. "All right, Crane. Game's over. Tell me where she is." Jullian suddenly called out, "Security," and guards came racing in.

The grabbed Luis off of Jullian and Julian said, "Throw him out." "You bastard. What have you done with Sheridan? I swear, if you hurt her__." "Goodbye, officer," Jullian smiled. The guards threw Luis out the door. Luis got up and dusted himself off. Now he was sure that Jullian was lying. God, he had to find Sheridan before she got hurt. But how? Suddenly, he got an idea. He started to quietly walk around the mansion, being careful not to make any noise. Sheridan began to cough. She was freezing cold, and yet she was sweating profusely. She had heard Luis up there. She hoped he hadn't given up.

He had to save her. He had to find a way to get her out of here. She wanted to do something to get out, but she could already tell that she was getting sick. She just lied on the floor, trying to keep warm and waited for Luis to come find her. Luis snuck around the mansion. He didn't even know where to look for her. This was a big mansion and it could take hours to find her. Suddenly, he heard a noise.

He froze, hoping that no one heard him. Then, he heard it again. It sounds like someone crying. 'Sheridan.' Luis walked towards the cries and saw a small window. He peered through and he saw her, curled up in a ball, shivering, and tears running down her face. 'Oh god,' Luis thought. He had to figure out a way to get in there. He heard Jullian's voice talking nearby and walked to where his voice was coming from. He found Jullian in the next room, talking about how his plan had worked.

Luis peered through a window and saw the door to the basement. He had to get to it, but he had to make it past Jullian first. While Jullian's back was turned, he climbed through the window. He slowly and quietly snuck past Jullian to the basement door. After a while, he made it and he slowly opened the door and snuck inside. He carefully closed the door behind him. Once it was shut, he knew that he was home free. Now he had to get to Sheridan.

He raced down the stairs and saw her curled up in a ball on the floor. He ran to her side. "Sheridan..Sheridan, it's me." Sheridan turned her head and looked up at him. "Luis. You came." Luis took her into his arms and started to rock her. She was freezing cold to the touch and she was coughing. Luis put his hand to her forehead. "Oh god, you're sick." Luis took his jacket off and laid it across her. Sheridan rested her head on his chest and clung onto him. "It's okay. I'm here now."

Luis continued to cradle her in his arms, trying to comfort her, but his heart was breaking, seeing her like this. He had to get her out of here, fast. She was very sick and needed to be safe and sound. 'God, how can I keep her warm?' Only one thought came to mind, making love but he shook off the idea. There had to be another way. Luis tried to get up to go look around for something to keep her warm, but Sheridan tightened her grip on him. "Luis, no. Please, don't leave me." She whimpered. "Shh. It's all right.

I'm right here. No one's going to hurt you." Luis sat back down with her and held her close. He couldn't let go of her. She needed him. After Sheridan calmed down a little, she nestled her face in Luis's neck and said, "I knew you would come for me." "I wouldn't have known if you hadn't left your compact at the center. Where did the blood come from? Did Jullian hurt you?" He grabbed onto her hand, but he pulled back when he felt the blood on his hand. Sheridan looked at him with scared eyes and Luis said, "Thank god I found it. I don't know what I would have done if" Luis's voice trailed off.

Sheridan looked into his eyes, "I found that letter you wrote for me." Luis hesitated for a moment. "You did?" Sheridan didn't say anything. She pulled him into a passionate kiss. Luis kissed her back and held onto her even tighter, as if that were possible. When Sheridan opened her mouth, Luis tongue stroked hers and she thought she would die. Before they knew it, Luis was lying on top of Sheridan, kissing her with everything he had in him. A few minutes later, he pulled back from the kiss and stared into her eyes. Sheridan whispered, "Make love to me." Luis smiled and his lips met hers again. As they started to undress each other, they knew that this was the moment they had always been waiting for. Very slowly, Luis backed Sheridan up against the wall and trailed kisses down her neck.

Sheridan moaned in pleasure as Luis ran his hands up her side and touched her breast. Luis pressed her hips into him and Sheridan wrapped her legs around him. Luis slowly entered her, rubbing her body slowly as he did. Sheridan heart rate started speeding up as Luis thrust himself inside of her. She was getting hotter and hotter by the minute. Her fingernails raked his back and he moaned. Her body was so smooth and soft and wet. He never thought it would be as great as this. He slowly lowered her back onto the ground. Their bodies were so close, they were practically one person. "I love you Luis." "I love you too Sheridan." They kissed and proceeded to make love through the night.

Chapter 5: The Great Escape

Luis and Sheridan panted for air as they finished making love. They were shining with sweat. Luis laid his head on her chest. He could hear her heart beating rapidly. It felt good to know that he had given her that kind of pleasure, a pleasure that made her heart race. When they finally caught their breath, Sheridan said, "Well I have to admit, I am feeling better now." Luis couldn't help but chuckle. Perhaps his lovemaking cured her. Maybe every time he got sick, he could use her medical attention. It was definitely a lot better than any pills. Sheridan's happiness started to fade and she remembered where they were and what the events of the day had been.

"Luis how will we get out of here?" Luis sighed. "I don't know. We'll figure out a way." They got up and got dressed. They started to look around for a way to get out, but Sheridan clung to his side wherever he went. Luis noticed her uneasiness and said, "Hey, it's all right. Everything's gonna be okay." "I know, I'm just scared." Luis put his hand up to her cheek and kissed her softly. "I know. Don't worry, we'll find a way out." Finally, they found a vent. They crawled inside and saw that the vent was a path through the mansion. They started to crawl through it, trying to find a way out. After a while, they found the other end of the vent, which led to Ethan's room. Once they got there, they climbed out. Luis looked outside of the room and saw that no one was there.

He took Sheridan's hand and they started to walk down the stairs, suddenly, they heard Jullian coming up. They turned and ran into Ethan's room. Luis led her into a closet and took her into his arms. Jullian entered Ethan's room. He was talking on the phone with someone "Yes, father. She's locked up in the basement right now I assure you father, she will never see Luis again Luis will never find her, father. Don't worry, if she tries anything, I'll kill her." Luis felt Sheridan tense up and he tightened his grip on her. Jullian continued, "I'll check on her in a couple of hours.

Sheridan had been nothing but trouble for a long as I can remember it's a good thing we did this father. Who knows what she could have done to ruin the Crane family? How could she actually think we could love her? She is nothing but a little brat out to destroy us yes, I'll check on her later, father goodbye." Jullian hung up, sighed deeply and walked out. Sheridan was devastated. She couldn't believe that her own family would kill her. They didn't even love her. Luis knew that she was upset. He couldn't believe it either.

They walked out of the closet and down the stairs. In a matter of minutes, they were out of the Crane Mansion. Luis was relieved. They got into his car and drove off. Luis was worried about Sheridan. She was so scared and when Jullian found out that she was gone, who knows what he would do? He drove to his house and parked the car. He led Sheridan into his house. As soon as they were inside, Luis asked, "Is there anything I can get you?" "No, I'm fine. Thanks." Luis could tell that she was still really sad. He sat down on the couch with her and held her close. Sheridan finally let go and burst into tears against his chest. "Shh it's okay. It's okay." Luis whispered. "Why, Luis? Why is this happening? Why don't they love me?"

"I don't understand how they couldn't," Luis said. "It seems like where ever I go, I'm always unloved." "You see, that's what I don't understand. You're the most wonderful woman I have ever met and I just don't see how anyone could not love you. I would expect for guys to line up on the streets just to see you." Luis sounded serious, which kind of frightened Sheridan. "Oh, come on, Luis. Be serious." "I am serious, Sheridan. I mean when you told me about all those guys who have used you, I thought you were lying. I mean...I just can't see how they couldn't love you." Sheridan smiled a little, but frowned again and said, "But every child should be loved by their family."

Sheridan pulled back a little and said, "I envy you, Luis. You grew up in a loving family and a family that cared for you. I've never had that. Ethan and my mother were the only people who loved me." Sheridan started to break down again and Luis put his arms around her again and stroked her back as she continued, "God, I miss my mother so much. Why did she have to die? She was such a wonderful person." Luis was afraid to ask the next question, but he had to know, "Sheridan how did she die?" "I don't know. She died when I was an infant.

I thought that she was asleep in her bed and I couldn't wake her up. Then, Pilar came in and took me out of the room. I never really understood what was happening, but I knew that my life as I knew it was over." "Sheridan, you listen to me." Luis turned her head up and looked into her eyes, "Don't think like that. You're going to have a wonderful life. You deserve it and you're going to get it." They heard a knock on the door and Sheridan tensed up. "Oh God, what if it's Jullian?" Luis rubbed her back and got up to see who it was. He looked through the window and saw that it was just Pilar. He let her in. "Hey Mama." "Hello Luis," Pilar said. She noticed Sheridan on the couch in tears.

"Luis what happened to Sheridan?" "It's a long story, Mama, I'll tell you later." Luis went to Sheridan again and saw that she looked tired. "Sheridan why don't you go sleep in my room? You look tired." Sheridan nodded and Luis led her to his room. When he came back, he sat down on the couch with Pilar. "Hijo, what happened?" "Jullian kidnapped Sheridan." "He what?" "He locked her in the basement." "Why? Why would he do such a thing?" "I don't know, but I think it has something to do with me." "Oh Luis. I told you this would happen. The Cranes will stop at nothing to keep you too apart." "But I won't let them." "It isn't worth the trouble, Luis." "It IS worth it. Every second of it."

Luis jumped up from the couch. "Mama, I love her and she loves me too. I...I don't know how it happened, but I suddenly realize that I can't live without her." "But she's a Crane, Luis. You've always hated the Cranes." "Look, she's different from her family. Completely different. I don't care what family she's from. Even if I hate her family, I still love her." Pilar was shocked at Luis's sudden burst of emotion, but she said, "Luis they won't give up. They will continue to try to pull you apart." "I won't let them. I am going to get Jullian arrested." "I hope you know what you're doing son."

Luis sighed and said, "I'm going to go check on Sheridan. I'll be right back." Luis got up and walked towards his bedroom. Very slowly, he opened the door and walked in. "Sheridan?" He whispered. He walked up to the bed and saw that she was sleeping soundly. Luis smiled; it was good that she was getting some rest. She had had a hard day. Luis knelt down beside her and stared at her beautiful face. She looked like an angel. He was relieved that she loved him as much as he loved her. When they had made love, it was the most amazing, passionate experience he had ever had. He brushed a small piece of hair out of her face.

He leaned forward and placed a small kiss at the edge of her lips. As he pulled back, she moved a little and a wide smile spread across her face. Luis smiled and got up and left the room. Luis came back downstairs and said, "Mama I'm going to the police station to file a report." "What about Sheridan?" "She's sleeping. Can you watch her for me until I get back?" "Sure Luis." "And if she asks for me, just tell her that I'm asleep." "Okay, Luis." Luis grabbed his coat and said, "I'll be back soon," before walking out of the house.

Chapter 6: Dreams

A while later, Pilar was sitting in the kitchen, when she heard some noises coming from Luis's room. She walked towards it. "Sheridan?" She called. There was no answer, so she walked inside. Pilar saw that Sheridan was tossing and turning and calling out in her sleep." Sheridan?" Pilar said as she went to her side. Sheridan cried out. "No, no, please. You you have to believe me. I didn't mean to do it. I... I didn't mean to do it. Please"

**DREAM**

Sheridan was on her knees before the bloody body. Luis came into the room and when he saw that the bloody body was Martin Fitzgerald, he looked at Sheridan with rage. "Oh God, you you murdered my father." "Luis please listen." "No, I want nothing more to do with you. You are just like the rest of the Cranes. You took my father's life; you destroyed my family's happiness. I was a fool to think that you were ever someone with a heart."

**REALITY**

"No, no, Luis. Please, don't leave me. I didn't mean to do it." "Sheridan wake up." Pilar said as she shook her. Sheridan jumped up as she awoke. She was breathing heavily. "Luis! Where's Luis?" "Um he's asleep now, Sheridan." "I have to see him. Now." Before Pilar could say anything, she jumped out of bed. "Sheridan wait stop." Sheridan ran out of the room and searched the house for Luis. She couldn't find him. She needed him NOW. She needed to be in his arms NOW. She ran outside and collapsed on her knees on the walkway. Sheridan starting crying harder and Pilar came up behind her and tried to comfort her.

Then, Luis drove up to his house and saw Sheridan on her knees outside, crying. 'What the hell is going on?' He quickly parked his car and got out. He ran towards where Pilar and Sheridan were sitting. "Sheridan." He called out. Sheridan turned her head up instantly and when she saw Luis coming towards her, she got up and ran into his arms. She clung to him and buried her face in his neck and sobbed. Luis wrapped his arms around her tightly. He looked at Pilar, confused, and mouthed, "What happened?" Pilar shook her head and shrugged. Luis tried to calm her down. "It's okay. It's okay. Shhhh." He swayed with her and tried to sooth her.

After a minute, Luis lifted her into his arms and carried her back into the house. "Mama, what happened?" Luis sat down with Sheridan in his lap as she clung to him, her face still buried in his chest. "I don't know, Luis. I came into her room and she was having a nightmare. She woke up and asked for you and when I said you were asleep, she ran out of the house. I guess she was trying to find you." Luis sighed and continued trying to calm her down. "Did you file a report against Jullian?" "Yeah, they will be arrested shortly. Sheridan will have to testify against them." Luis noticed that Sheridan was shaking. "Mama, can you get her a blanket?" "Sure Luis." Luis looked down at Sheridan.

"Sheridan hey, hey, what's wrong? Did something scare you?" Sheridan didn't answer, she just continued to cry against him. Pilar came back with the blanket and Luis tried to wrap it around though. It was very difficult since she was still clinging to him, but he finally got it around her. Pilar went back to bed and Luis continued to hold her tightly. He wanted to know what was wrong. He wanted to know what frightened her and how he could make it go away. He would do anything to take away her pain.

"Sheridan Sheridan baby, what's wrong? What happened?" Sheridan pulled back quickly. "You left. Why did you leave me?" "Sheridan, I had to file a report against Jullian. I'm here now." Sheridan flew into his arms again. "Never ever leave me again Luis. Don't ever leave me." "I'll never leave you Sheridan. I promise." Sheridan continued to cry softly on his chest. Luis held her tightly and tried to calm her. He rocked her back and forth. "It's all right baby, it's all right." He started to hum a soft tune, like a lullaby. He rocked her as he hummed and soon, she relaxed and she stopped crying. A few minutes later, Luis looked down and noticed that she was asleep.

He made a move to get up, but she was still clinging to him tightly, unwilling to let go. Luis sighed and lifted her into his arms. He carried her to his bedroom. He lay down on the bed with Sheridan and pulled the covered over them. He secured his arms around her, and fell asleep. Luis didn't sleep very well. He kept on thinking that Jullian would come and take Sheridan away from her. He was so worried. He knew that he was arrested by now, but who knows what lengths they would go to, to stop Sheridan and Luis from being together. He was afraid to ever let Sheridan out of his sight again. Luis suddenly heard noises coming from outside his bedroom.

He quickly tensed up. He looked down at Sheridan, who was sleeping soundly in his arms. He would be damned if he let anyone tare them apart. Luis decided to go out and see who it was. Luis slowly got out of bed, being careful not to wake Sheridan. He crept towards the door and as soon as he did, he saw someone standing there. Before he could realize who it was, he tackled him to the ground. "Luis, hey stop." Luis looked down and saw that he had just attacked Hank. Luis quickly got up, "Hank."

"Geez, Luis. What is going on?" "Shhh, Sheridan's sleeping." Luis nodded towards the bedroom. "Yeah, Sam told me about what happened. How is she?" Luis shook his head, "She's devastated over it. I mean I knew her family was evil, but I never thought that." His voice trailed off. Hank said, "Well, uh, your mother wanted to talk to you about something. "Okay, look. If Sheridan wakes up, don't do anything to upset her. She's had a hard day." "Sure." Luis went to talk with his mother. Hank walked into Luis's room. She saw Sheridan sleeping there.

Sheridan suddenly said, "I need you." "What?" Hank came closer and sat on the edge of the bed. "I want you. I want to be in your arms." Hank smiled. 'She must be thinking about me.' Hank ran a hand across her cheek and said, "Sheridan wake up." Very slowly, Sheridan opened her eyes. Everything was blurry, but as soon as her eyes adjusted, she saw Hank. Before she could do anything, Hank pulled her up and kissed her passionately. Startled, Sheridan pulled away and screamed.

Luis heard the scream in the living room. "Sheridan." Luis said as he ran towards his room. When he flung over the door, he saw Sheridan jump out of bed and run into his arms. "Woah, Sheridan, what happened?" Luis looked at a confused Hank. "What the hell did you do to her?" "Nothing, I just kissed her." "Hank, I told you not to upset her. She doesn't need this." Hank just stared at them, as jealous as ever.

Luis whispered, "It's okay. It's okay." It seemed like he could never leave her without her getting upset, but he didn't blame her. She was afraid and in shock. Who wouldn't be if their family turned on them? "Sheridan it's me Hank." He reached out to touch her, but Sheridan jumped away from Hank, still hanging on to Luis. "Sheridan, what's gotten in to you?" "What I would like to know is what's gotten into you, Luis?" "What do you mean?" "Don't toy with me Luis. You're trying to steal Sheridan away from me." Luis gave Hank a hard look. "Don't bring that up, now. Sheridan's in pain.

I won't have you make it harder for her." "Luis, you can try to get around it, but you can't hide it anymore. You're trying to take my girl." "Look, Hank, just leave if you're gonna be like this." "Fine," Hank said as he ran out of the room and shut the door. Sheridan was still clinging onto him. He walked over to the bed and sat down on it with her, trying to comfort her. "It's okay, Sheridan. I'm here now." Luis had never seen Sheridan like this. He never thought that she would act this way about it. He continued to hold her for a few minutes until she calmed down.

Then, he slowly pulled back from her and said, "Sheridan it's all right, now. You have nothing to worry about." "I can't believe my own family would do this."

Sheridan sobbed. "You deserve better Sheridan. You deserve so much better. They are fools for not loving you. Please, stop crying." "I'm sorry," Sheridan said, wiping her eyes. "You don't have to be sorry, Sheridan. Those guys are the ones at fault here. I promise you, I will make them pay for hurting you." Sheridan turned to look into his eyes and Luis saw happiness in them. He missed that sparkle in her eyes. She smiled a soft smile and said, "Thank you, Luis. For everything." Luis smiled and gave her a soft kiss. "What do you say we go get something to eat?" "Okay." They took each other's hands and walked to the kitchen to get something to eat.

Chapter 7: A Loving Family

Two days had passed from that horrible night, and there were two more days until the trial. During those days, Sheridan was always by Luis's side. She felt so uneasy whenever she wasn't. Maybe it was because of how much she loved him, or maybe that he would never let anyone hurt her. She felt so safe with him, but whenever he was gone, she was scared. She felt like Luis was the only one she could trust. Her family had turned against her, the family she spent years trying to make love her. They had turned their backs on her and tried to have her killed. She felt alone and betrayed.

She felt that she couldn't trust anyone anymore, except for Luis. Sheridan now lay, snuggled in Luis's arms on the bed. "What are you thinking about?" Luis asked as he stroked her arms. Sheridan gave a small smile, "The same thing I've been thinking about for the past two days." "Oh Sheridan." "I just can't believe that my own family would do this to me." "Neither can I, but they don't deserve you. You have a different family now, my family. They love you." Sheridan turned her head up to look at him and smiled. "I love you Luis." "I love you too, Sheridan. I always will." Luis gave her a gentle kiss and she laid her head on his chest again.

"Tomorrow, everything will be taken care of and you'll be fine. I promise. No one will ever hurt you again." Luis leaned in to give her a short kiss, but he quickly turned passionate. Luis pulled her closer to him and pushed her against the couch as he ran his arms up and down her body. After a few moments, Sheridan pulled away. "Hey, don't you wanna make love." "Of course I do, but, I feel so bad with your mother running around the house all the time. I think I'll go help her." Sheridan tried to get up, but Luis tightened his grip on her.

"Luis let me up." "You're not going anywhere." "Oh, and what are you going to do to stop me?" "This." With that, Luis rolled on top of her and starting tickling her. Sheridan laughed out loud and tried to get Luis off of her. "Luis no, stop. That tickles." Luis stopped, but he remained hovering over her. Sheridan stroked a piece of his hair back and said, "You do know how to get to me, Luis." Luis just smiled. He bent down and starting kissing her neck. Sheridan knew that they should stop.

It was the middle of the day and Luis's family was home, but she couldn't resist his kisses. It sent magical feelings throughout her body. "Luis, your family" "Ignore them. I have got to have you." Sheridan smiled mischievously, "I don't think you'll make me satisfied." Luis pulled back, stunned. "What? Hey, that hurts." Sheridan continued to smile mischievously and seductively. Luis said, "If you want me to show you a good time," He laid down on top of her, "I'll show you a time you'll never forget J." With that, he started kissing her passionately.

Sheridan fell into the kiss immediately. Luis's right hand found it's way to the bottom of her shirt, He slipped it under and slowly moved his hand up to touch her breast. Sheridan moaned with pleasure as Luis ran his thumb over her nipple. Luis suddenly grabbed Sheridan's shirt and pulled it up, exposing her to him. Luis ran kisses all over her breasts. "Mmm you taste so good." Luis whispered through kisses. Meanwhile, Sheridan was unbuttoning Luis's shirt. Once his shirt was unbuttoned, she ran his hands up and down his chest, feeling his abs and his muscles.

Luis pulled back for a moment and pulled off his chest, then, he started to kiss her neck. Sheridan let out deep sighs as she felt his hand start to move up her leg. He caressed his way up to the bottom of her hips. He grabbed onto her panties and tugged them off. Then, he pulled the shirt down, exposing her body completely. Sheridan decided to return the favor. She reached his belt and slid it off. She unzipped the pants and threw them off. She ran her hands across his torso and came very close to his 'uh-hum' J. Luis lost it; he landed on top of her and crushed his lower body to her.

He wrapped his arms tightly around her, unwilling to let go. He continued to kiss her neck, waiting for the right time to start. "Oh Luis I've dreamed so many times of this moment." Luis pulled back and looked lovingly into her eyes. "So have I Sheridan. I want you. I want you now." "I'm all yours." Sheridan said. That was all Luis needed, he slowly entered her, giving her time to adjust. Sheridan moaned loudly. "Shh," Luis said, "We don't want the family to here us." Pilar called, "Sheridan? Is that you? Are you all right?" Sheridan giggled and said, "I'm fine Pilar. I just stumbled."

They returned to kissing each other. Luis began to move within her, making her feel wonderful inside. "Oh LUIS!!!" Sheridan cried out as she climaxed. Luckily, Luis had covered her mouth with a kiss as she screamed, so no one could hear her. Sheridan wrapped his legs around his waist, bringing his in farther. She could feel his hard, tense 'uh-hum' J inside of her. Luis was going nuts. She was so wet, and smooth, and tan and oh god, he wanted her so bad. He would give anything to make love to her forever. They continued to make love.

Sheridan lay wrapped in Luis's arms, lying against him. Luis was asleep. She must have tired him out. Sheridan sighed deeply. She felt so secure and safe. So loved. Luis had been so good to her. He was the kindest man she has ever met. He was the perfect man for her. Not only was he a sweetheart, but he had a body to die for. No one else ever loved her. The only people who ever truly loved her where Ethan and Pilar. Everyone else just wanted her for her money.

Luis was different. He loved her for who she was. Sheridan remembered that she wanted to help Pilar with some chores. She slowly got out of bed, being careful not to wake Luis. She put on her clothes and went to help Pilar. She walked into the kitchen, where Pilar was making breakfast. "Hello, Pilar." "Good morning, Sheridan. Did you sleep well?" "Yes, I did oh, Pilar. Thank you so much." Sheridan hugged Pilar. "For what, Sheridan."

"For being so good to me. I've never really had a mother and in a way, you're like a mother to me." "Oh, well you're welcome Sheridan." "Your whole family is so kind and loving. I wish I had a family like that." Pilar noticed that Sheridan had a look of regret on her face. "Sheridan I know you're hurting, but you'll find love. My family adores you and so does Luis. He really does love you." Sheridan smiled, "I never thought that someone would actually love me. Who would have thought that Luis would be the one?"

"Love comes in the strangest places." "Well, I just hope that when I have a family, it will be just like yours." Sheridan wanted to help make breakfast, but she wasn't much of a cook, so Pilar taught her how to make breakfast. Sheridan was having lots of fun and she was glad that she was learning how to cook something other then scrambled eggs. In the middle of cooking, Pilar and Sheridan realized that they had run out of ingredients. "Pilar, I'll go to the store and get some." "No Sheridan, you don't have to." "It's no trouble at all. I need to get out anyway.

I'll be back soon." "All right, Sheridan." Sheridan grabbed her purse and left the house. Sheridan went to an outdoor market place. They always had everything she needed. Today, it was very crowded. She was walking around the corner, when suddenly, she was knocked out.

Chapter 8: The Rescue

Luis woke up and was startled to find that Sheridan was not sleeping next to him. He pouted. She must have sneaked out when he was asleep. She knew he wouldn't let her go if he was awake. He got out of bed and got dressed. Then, he headed to the kitchen. He saw his mother and kissed her good morning. "Hey, Mama. Have you seen Sheridan?" "No, she went to the store a few hours ago and she hasn't gotten back yet." "Oh, okay. Well let me know if she gets back." Luis went into the living room and sat down to read the newspaper.

About an hour past and Sheridan still didn't come. Luis started to get worried. He decided to go down to the market. He left the house and arrived at the market. Most of the big crowd had faded away, but there were still a lot of people around. Luis searched around the market many times, but couldn't find Sheridan. A shiver ran down his spine. What if something happened to her? But who would hurt her? Jullian was in jail. Who else was out there that would try to hurt her? Luis was about to give up and go home, when he saw Sheridan's purse lying on the corner.

He ran towards it and bent down to pick it up. There was a note attached to it that said, If you ever want to see Sheridan again, leave $5,000,000 dollars in a sack right here by the trashcans. If you make any false moves, she's dead. If I don't get the money, she's dead. You have 36 hours to deliver the money. Don't mess up. Luis dropped the note in his hand. How? How could this be happening again? His anguish turned into anger. Whoever did this was going to pay big time.

They better not hurt her. Luis grabbed the note and Sheridan's purse and drove off to the police station. Within the next hour, police officers were around the Lopez-Fitzgerald house. They were asking people questions and checking the area. Throughout the whole ordeal, Luis just sat on the couch, as if in a trance. Theresa, who was in the house at the time, noticed this and sat down next to her brother. "Don't worry, Luis. Sheridan will be all right. Soon, this will all be over with." Luis looked at his sister. He embraced her and they hugged for a long time.

After a while, Sam came up to Luis. "Luis we have the phone's tapped in case he calls. We have officers around the market and the house. We'll find her soon." Luis slowly nodded his head. Who would do this to her? How could anyone want to hurt a sweet, beautiful woman like Sheridan? Luis quickly tensed up at the thought of someone trying to rape her. If they did, they would be in worse trouble then they could ever imagine. The phone rang and Luis jumped up. The officers nodded at Luis. Luis took a deep breath and picked up the phone.

"Hello." "Hello, officer. Missing something or should I say, someone?" Luis tensed up. "All right, who are you and what have you done with her?" Luis yelled. "Relax, she'll be fine as long as you cooperate. And I am someone you know, someone you know very well." "Who are you?" "Just think, Luis. Who would want a woman as beautiful as Sheridan? And who would want to get revenge on you for stealing her away?"

Luis nearly dropped the phone. No, it couldn't be. "H... Hank?" "You got it, buddy." Luis nearly lost his balance. It was Hank. He wanted Sheridan all for himself. Sam heard it too and he was just as stunned. "Hank, how could you do this to her?" "I need the money, and besides, anyone would be tempted to have fun with a body like that." "I swear, you touch her and I'll..." "Just drop off the money. I've changed my mind. You have 5 hours to deliver the money. Then, I'll tell you where she is." "Just remember what I said Hank. Touch her and you're a dead man."

Luis heard the dial tone and slammed down the phone. Sam came up behind him. "We got it Luis. We are going to make the drop off." Luis was speechless. He couldn't believe that his own best friend was responsible for this. Sam shared a knowing glance. "I can't believe he did it either Luis." "Not to speak this way about your brother Sam, but if he lays a hand on Sheridan, I'll kill him." Luis sounded serious. "Luis." "No, I'm serious Sam. I promised Sheridan that I'd never let her get hurt again.

And if he does, he's gonna wish he had never been born." Luis walked up to the window and stared out, praying for Sheridan to be all right. Sam and the officers dropped off the money at the right spot and returned to Luis's house to wait for the call. They sat on the couch impatiently. Luis was fidgeting. Sam said, "Luis, you must know that even if he did get the money, he might still not tell us where she is." Luis tried to push away those thoughts, but he knew that Sam was right. But it was the only way. He had to find her. The phone rang again and Luis took a deep breath. He picked up the phone.

"Hello?" "I knew that being a friend of a cop would someday come in handy." "Okay, you got your money, now where is Sheridan?" "Relax, buddy. She's at the old warehouse down at the wharf." Luis dropped the phone and ran out to his car, followed by many other police officers. Luis jumped in his car and raced off towards the wharf, hoping that Sheridan was all right. When Luis arrived at the wharf, he jumped out of his car.

The other officers tried to follow, but Luis said, "You stay out here. I'll go inside and find her." Luis got out his gun and edged inside. It was very dark and the only light was coming from the fan. Luis snuck around quietly for a long time and suddenly, heard a faint cry. 'Sheridan.' He thought. He walked towards the sounds. He walked around some big boxes and finally saw her, curled up on the floor. He ran to her immediately and took her into his arms. She flinched at first, but when she saw his face, she threw her arms around him and buried her face in his chest. Luis held her as tightly as possible.

He looked at her. Her clothes were almost completely torn, she was dirty, and was bruised everywhere. Without pulling away, Luis asked, "What happened? What did that bastard do to you?" In a hoarse voice Sheridan cried, "He kidnapped me, he beat me, he raped me." Luis bit his lip and shut his eyes tightly, trying to keep the tears from flooding out of his eyes, but with no avail.

"Oh god, I'm so sorry, angel. I'm so sorry I wasn't here for you." They continued to hold each other and cry. He pulled back, but still held her close. "You're freezing cold." He called out, "Silvano. Get a blanket and get it in here." He looked down to look at Sheridan and said, "I'll never leave you again. I promise." Silvano threw the blanket to Luis. Luis wrapped it around her body and took her back into his arms, stroking her hair and her face gently.

A few minutes later, Luis carried Sheridan out of the warehouse in his arms. The officers rushed over to him. Luis said, "I'm taking her to the hospital. We need to add the charge of beating and rape." With that, Luis rushed to the car and got them inside, driving away towards the hospital.

Chapter 9: The News

As Sheridan was being checked out, Luis just waited in the waiting room, hoping that she would be all right. As he was sitting, he turned his head up when he saw Ethan Crane coming towards him. "Why didn't you tell me what happened?" "Oh, I'm sorry Ethan. I guess I forgot." Luis looked at the floor. "Yeah, you're damn right. You may think we Cranes are evil, but we have a right to know when a loved one is hurt." Ethan yelled. Luis didn't say anything, he just stared down at the floor as tears came down his face.

Ethan was confused. This wasn't the Luis he remembered. He wasn't arguing or anything. He just sat there, looking like the saddest man he had ever seen. Luis finally said, "You don't have to tell me… it's all my fault and I know it." "No, it's not." Theresa came and sat down beside him and looked up at Ethan with a 'don't-make-him-feel-worse-than-he-already-is' look. "It's not your fault. Luis, Sheridan will be fine." "How could Hank do this? He wanted revenge against me. Why didn't he hurt me? Why her?"

Ethan suddenly felt guilty. He could see how much Luis loved Sheridan. Luis jerked his head up when he spotted Luis walking down the hall. He jumped up and ran to her. "Eve. How's Sheridan? Is she going to be all right?" "We have run a few tests on her that will take a few days to conclude on, but she just has many bumps and bruises. She will heal in about a week." Luis sighed with relief. Eve continued, "She wants to see you Luis." Luis ran down the hall immediately and towards Sheridan's room. He opened the door and instantly locked eyes with Sheridan.

She smiled at him. Luis had never felt so good to see her smile again. He pulled up a chair next to her and took her hand. "How are you?" "I'm fine. A little sore, but fine." Luis took his hand and stroked a piece of hair out of her face. Despite everything that she had been through, her crying, and her beatings, she still was the most amazingly breath-taking woman that he had ever seen. Sheridan could see in Luis's eyes that he was full of deep emotion.

"Luis, what's wrong?" Luis shook his head, "What do you think is wrong, Sheridan? Hank, my best friend, hurt you. I've always trusted in him and I can't believe that he would do this." Sheridan turned her head away from him and a few tears ran down the cheeks. "Hey," Luis brought his hands up to her cheeks and brushed away her tears, "Don't cry. Everything's alright now." "It's not that. It's just. well, you and Hank have been best friends forever. Now, I've come between you. I never wanted to ruin anyone's friendship, especially yours."

"Hey, hey. It's not your fault. Having you in my life is a blessing. I should have known that Hank was like this. I'm just sorry I had to find out this way." Luis said, taking her hands in his. "Me too." Sheridan replied. "Well, all that matters now is that you're okay. We'll delay the case with Jullian for about a week until you're 100 percent better. I am never letting you out of my sight again." Luis said. Sheridan smiled at his words. Today was probably the worst day of her life, but now that Luis was here with her, it seemed like the happiest.

Eve came in with a chart. Luis looked up at her and said, "How is she? Is she going to be all right?" "We have taken a few tests and we will call you in a few days to tell you the results, but she seems okay and is ready to go home is she likes." Sheridan looked at Luis, "Luis, I told want to intrude, but would it be okay if I continued to stay at your house?" "Do you actually think I'm going to let you out of my sight again after what's happened? Not a chance." Luis answered. Eve gave Sheridan come medicine to help ease her pain.

Then, when Sheridan was ready, they left the hospital. On the drive home, Luis felt a since of relief wash over him. Sheridan was going to be all right. He could finally rest easy. He looked over at her. She was starring out the window at the town as the car drove by. Luis smiled and thanked god that she was okay. He didn't know what he would have done if she wasn't. When they got to the house, as soon as they walked in, Pilar engulfed Sheridan in a big hug. Sheridan was a little surprised, but she hugged her back and when they pulled away, Pilar said, "Oh Sheridan. Thank god, you're okay.

Sam told me what happened." "Well, thanks for your concern." Sheridan answered. "I'll go make you some tea." Pilar said as she ran to the kitchen. Luis said, "Is there anything you need." "Well, I am feeling a little tired." Luis nodded and led Sheridan to his bedroom. They lay down on the couch together, lying in each other's arms. Luis said, "This time, don't leave me." Sheridan nodded and closed her eyes. She soon fell asleep in his arms. Pilar came in a few minutes later with some tea. Luis whispered, "Shh, she's asleep."

Pilar nodded and said, "By the way, Sam just called and wanted you to patrol at the wharf today." Luis looked down at Sheridan and then back up at Pilar. "Tell him to find someone else. I'm not leaving Sheridan." Pilar smiled and left the room. Luis snuggled up closer to Sheridan and fell asleep.

**A FEW DAYS LATER**

In the morning, Luis woke up and was happy to find that Sheridan was still nestled in his arms, safe and sound. He was so relieved to know that she was alright. He loved her so much. He never loved someone as much as he loved her. He didn't think that anyone could love someone as much. Whenever she was around, he felt warm and happy inside. His heart would beat faster and faster. She was so kind and wonderful and beautiful. It felt like they had known each other forever. More than ever now, Luis was determined to make Sheridan his.

He would do anything to have her, maybe even marry her. Luis felt Sheridan stir in his arms. He saw her open her eyes and he smiled, "Good morning, sleepy head." "Good morning," Sheridan reached up and gave him a soft kiss. "How did you sleep?" Luis asked. "Wonderfully. It feels so good to be here in your arms. I can sleep through anything when you're holding me." "Well, as much as I would love to stay like this forever, I think Mama is almost done with breakfast." Sheridan nodded and got out of bed. They got dressed and ate breakfast.

As they were clearing their plates, Pilar came in and said, "Luis, Sheridan, Eve is here to see you two. She had something to say." Luis tensed up. What if something was wrong with Sheridan? He clutched her hand in his and went to the living room where Eve was waiting. They sat down on the couch. "Eve, what's wrong? Is everything all right?" Luis asked. "That all depends." Eve cleared her throat. She looked at Luis and then to Sheridan. "Sheridan I have some important news. Some news that could change and alter your life forever. It could be good, but it could be bad. It all depends on certain things." "Well what is it, Eve?" Sheridan asked. "Sheridan you're pregnant!"

Chapter 10: Choices

"Sheridan you're pregnant." "I'm what?" "You're pregnant." Sheridan's mouth dropped open in shock. Suddenly, she closed her eyes and fainted into Luis's arms. "Sheridan...Sheridan," Luis said to her as he tried to wake her up. She didn't wake up so he continued to hold her as he said. "Eve, what do you mean, she's pregnant." "Just that." "But how can that be?" "Well, Hank did rape her." Luis looked at her in shock. "Oh god, no. It can't be." "It is, unless you and Sheridan ever did" Eve's voice trailed off. Luis tried to think back and he remembered.

He remembered when Jullian had kidnapped Sheridan and he rescued her and made love to her. That time, they didn't have protection. It was the only way. But there was also a chance that Hank was the father. God, he hoped not. He looked back at Eve. He tried to hide his red cheeks and he said, "Yes, there was a time." "I see," Eve said professionally. Luis said, "Eve, when will we know who is the father of this child?" "Well, we will have to give Sheridan a test, and about a week later, we will know." "Well, how soon can we do it?"

"Sheridan will have to make an appointment within the next month." Luis hugged Sheridan closer to him and rocked her slowly. Eve continued, "Now, Luis. I have to warn you. This could be a big shock for Sheridan, so don't hurt her." "I wouldn't ever do anything to hurt her. Don't worry. I'll be with her through it all." Luis answered. Sheridan started to stir. "Look, she's coming to." Sheridan groaned as she opened her eyes. "Mmm what happened?" "It's all right, angel, you fainted." Sheridan suddenly remembered what Eve said and shot up.

"You said I'm pregnant." "Yes, Sheridan." "No, there has to be some mistake!" "Sheridan...Sheridan," Luis looked into her eyes. "Either this child is Hank's, or it's mine remember, the Crane Mansion basement." Sheridan couldn't help but smile a little, remembering the wild lovemaking. Sheridan face turned serious again and said, "When can we find out?" "You must make an appointment in the next month to take a test." Sheridan nodded her head. She closed her eyes. She knew the possibilities. What if the child was Hank's, the man she hated and disposed? On the other hand, it could be Luis's, the man she loved with all her heart. She knew that there were chances for both of them. She said, "Thank you, Eve, for telling me this."

"You're welcome, Sheridan, but I'd better get back to the hospital." "I'll lead you to the door," Said Luis. Luis led her to the door and said good-bye. When he went back into the living room, Sheridan had her knees curled up to her chest. Tears were streaming down her face. Luis ran to her and sat down next to her. She turned and buried her face in his chest. He wrapped his arms around her as she cried. 'Please, god. Let this child be mine. Sheridan doesn't need anymore pain. She deserves the whole world.' Luis thought. Sheridan cried, "What will I do Luis? I'm not even ready to be a mother."

Luis pulled back and said, "We'll get through this together Sheridan. I'm so sorry, but everything will be all right. You'll be the perfect mother." Sheridan smiled a little and Luis continued to hold her. Luis said, "You look tired. Why don't you go lie down? I'll bring you some water." Sheridan smiled and nodded and headed to Luis's bedroom. Luis walked into the kitchen and got some water for Sheridan. He looked out the window. Sheridan's child could be Hank's or his. Either way, their lives will be changed forever. He didn't know how severe, but he prayed that the child was his, not just because that would mean it wasn't Hank's, but also because he loved Sheridan dearly and this would connect him to her forever.

**TWO WEEKS LATER**

Sheridan and Luis moved back into Sheridan's cottage. Sheridan had just gotten back from taking the test and they would find out in a few days who the father was. Sheridan slept in her bedroom, while Luis sat on the couch in the living room, thinking. In this past week, he had got to look at things from a different point. This child, no matter who's it was, was going to be brought into a family that Sheridan was not yet ready for. She has so much to deal with and it would be hell for her to have to become a mother so soon.

He didn't want Sheridan to be in any pain. After what she's been through, he wanted her to relax. That was going to be very hard to do having a baby around. Maybe if Sheridan just got an abortion, it wouldn't screw up her life. He knew that she wasn't ready for it. Maybe it was for the best. He decided that when Sheridan came out, he would talk to her about it. Just then, Sheridan walked out of her room and sat down next to him. "Hi." She said shyly. "Hi," Luis said. Sheridan noticed that Luis had a very sad look on his face. "Luis, what is it, what's wrong?" Luis looked up at Sheridan and felt his heart cringed. He cupped Sheridan's face in his hands as tears came to his eyes.

"Oh Sheridan... oh god...I..." Luis broke off and wrapped his arms around her. He began to quietly cry on her shoulder. He pulled back a few minutes later. "I'm sorry, I just I've been thinking... about what's been happening." "I see." "Look, Sheridan I think that it would be easier for you if you just got an abortion. It will make your life a lot less painful." "Abortion?! Painful?! Luis, how can you say such a thing?" Sheridan said as she jumped up. "Look Sheridan, whether the child is mine or Hank's, either way you know you're not ready for this." "I... I can't I just can't." Sheridan turned away. Luis came up behind her. "Why not? Heck, the kid isn't even born yet, what do you care?"

Sheridan turned to look at him with anger in his eyes. "Why not why not?! How can you be like this? It is a living thing. It deserves to live. It may have only been a few weeks, but I have grown to love this child." "You what?! The child could be Hank's." "Even so, I love it unconditionally." "Unbelievable you would love something made by someone who raped you, who hurt you." "It's not the child's fault that Hank was a low life bastard." "I can't take it.

If that child turns out to be Hank's, I am not going to be able to go through it. Every time I look at in, I'm gonna see part of a beautiful woman who was raped by a bastard who I thought was my best friend." "What are you saying Luis?" "I'm saying that you have to choose, either it's him or me." "You can't be serious." "I am. Choose Sheridan. Either get an abortion, or get rid of me."

Sheridan stared at Luis in shock. Did he realize what he was asking her to do, choose between the man she loved and her child. Luis hesitated. She looked at Luis in agony, begging her with her eyes not to do this anymore. Tears came down her cheeks and she lost it. She burst into tears and ran to the door and was gone before he could say anything. He turned and watched her leave with pain in his heart. I hurt him to say that, but it was what he felt.

He heard Sheridan's car pull out of the drive way and drive away. He sat on the couch, put his head in his hands and cried. Luis didn't know what to do. He didn't think he would ever be able to face the fact that that child was Hank's, if it was, and even if it was Luis's, he didn't want her to do something she wasn't ready for. Luis waited at Sheridan's cottage for her to return. He started to think about what Sheridan had said. That no matter who's child it was, she had grown to love it. Luis realized what an idiot he was for asking her to choose between the man she loved and her child.

'Sheridan's right. How could I have been so selfish? How could I cause her more pain?' Luis wiped the tears from his eyes and said, "As soon as she gets back, I will tell her how sorry I am. I had promised her that I would be there for her, no matter what, and that is exactly what I'm going to do. I love her, and as soon as she gets back, I'm going to tell her." Luis heard thunder outside and the raindrops hitting the window. He stared at the door, longing for her to come back inside. She had only been gone a little while and he already missed her terribly. He felt so bad for causing her pain. He hoped that she would come back soon.

Sheridan drove along the wet road. She was still crying hysterically. What if the child was Hank's, and Luis decided he didn't want to be with her anymore? That he didn't love her. She could never cope with that, but her child. She didn't know how to explain it, but she had already grown to love it and she couldn't just get an abortion. This child deserved a life and she didn't want to take that away. Sheridan was so lost in her thoughts, that she didn't see the truck come around the corner, until it was too late.

Chapter 11: Facing Reality Luis had been waiting at Sheridan's cottage for a couple of hours now and Sheridan still hadn't come back. Eventually, he dozed off to sleep and began to dream about her.

**DREAM**

"Come on, Sheridan. I want to show you something." Luis pulled Sheridan across the fancy hotel sweet and to the balcony. He covered her eyes and led her outside. When he got to the right spot, he took his hands off and Sheridan opened her eyes. They were looking at a beautiful ocean and the sun was slowly setting, making the sky pink and orange. It was the most beautiful sight. "Oh Luis, it's beautiful." Sheridan said as Luis wrapped his arms around her, staring at the sea with her. "Not as beautiful as you." Luis said. Sheridan turned around and kissed Luis softly.

Then, she laid her head against his chest as they stared out into the ocean. Luis had never felt more content. He was in this beautiful hotel, staring at the ocean, with the woman of his dreams in his arms. Nothing could be better. They continued to hold each other as the sun set and the stars began to come out. Luis said, "I have one more thing to show you." He ran inside quickly and came out with some blankets and some pillows. Sheridan was confused. Luis threw the stuff onto the roof. "Luis, what are you doing?" "Shh, you'll see." He led her to the ladder and they climbed onto the roof. When they were on top, Luis spread out the blankets and the pillows. They laid down and looked at the sky. It was filled with beautiful stars. Sheridan looked at Luis and said, "I love you Luis."

"I love you too, Sheridan. I always will." He reached behind her head and pulled her into a passionate kiss. Sheridan snuggled closer to Luis as she deepened the kiss. They wrapped their arms around each other and continued their fiery kiss under the stars.

**REALITY**

Luis woke up slowly with a smile on his face, but it soon faded as he remembered what had happened. Sheridan was still gone. "I hope she comes home soon." Luis said to himself. Just then, he heard the phone ring. He picked it up, "Hello?" "Is this Luis Lopez-Fitzgerald?" "Yes, it is." "Sir you need to come down to the hospital right away." "Why? Is my family hurt?" "Sheridan Crane has been in a car accident." Luis froze. Sheridan? In a car accident? Oh god, no. "Sir? Sir?" The man asked. "Yeah, yeah, I'm here. I'll be there soon."

Luis hung up the phone and said, "Oh god, please let her be all right." Luis grabbed his coat and ran out the door. Meanwhile, at the hospital, Pilar was sitting by a barely conscious Sheridan, holding her hand. Sheridan had bandages around her head and on her arms. She was so dizzy, she couldn't even see straight. Pilar whispered, "Don't worry, Sheridan. You're gonna be all right." "Luis...Luis." Sheridan whispered. "I need Luis." "He'll be here soon Sheridan, just rest. You need your rest." Sheridan closed her eyes and instantly fell asleep. Pilar thought, 'Dear god, if Sheridan doesn't make it, Luis will be devastated.' Pilar heard the door open and she turned around just in time to see Luis run into the room and to Sheridan's side.

"Oh god, Sheridan." He stroked her hair gently, tears welling up in his eyes. He hated to see her like this. He looked at Pilar, "How is she, Mama?" "I don't know yet." "Luis?" Sheridan whispered as she opened her eyes slightly. "It's okay, Sheridan. I'm here now." He took her into his arms and laid her head on his chest. He rocked her slowly and looked up at Pilar, "I just don't understand it, Mama. Sheridan has been through so much. She doesn't deserve any of this." "I know, son. I don't understand it either."

The door opened and Eve came in, Luis tried to get up and go over to her, but Sheridan clung to him. He asked, "Eve, tell me. Is she going to be okay?" "Yes, Luis. She'll be fine." Eve had a very sad look on her face. "Then why do you look so sad?" Luis asked. Eve said, "Come outside with me, Luis. I need to talk to you alone." Luis tried to get up, but Sheridan still hung on to him with her eyes close. "Please, Luis. Don't leave me. I need you." "Shhh. Shhh. It's okay, sweetie. I'll back in a few minutes. You're safe now. I promise, I'll be right back." Luis comforted. Sheridan released Luis and he headed outside to talk to Eve.

"Eve, what is it? What's wrong with Sheridan?" "Sheridan will be fine, Luis... it's just..." "What? What's wrong?" Luis asked. Eve answered, "It's the baby, Luis. We couldn't save it." Luis was speechless. The baby was dead. "It... it's dead?" "Yes, Luis. I'm sorry." Luis looked through the window at Sheridan. 'God, it will kill her.' Eve put a hand on Luis's shoulder and said, "I know how much you care about Sheridan. She's gonna need you when she hears." Luis nodded his head. He knew that Sheridan would be devastated. It didn't matter who's child it was, she loved it.

If he hadn't gotten in a fight with her, she wouldn't have gotten into the accident and she wouldn't be here in the first place. Eve continued, "We will put her to sleep and then take the baby out." Luis thanked Eve and went back inside to see Sheridan. He sat by her side again and took her in his arms. Sheridan smiled and said, "Oh Luis, I'm so happy you're here."

"Sheridan. I'm so sorry for the way I've acted." Luis apologized. "It's okay, Luis," Sheridan said as she snuggled into his chest, "I know you mean well. But you have to know that I love this child, and I can't wait to have it." Luis had to choke back a sob. How was he ever going to tell her that her child was dead? He pulled back and said, "Sheridan. You have to go to sleep now." "I don't want to sleep." Sheridan said. "Please, Sheridan. For me?" Luis asked sweetly. Sheridan smiled, closed her eyes, and drifted off to sleep. Luis carressed her cheek with his thumb as he watched her sleep.

Eve came in and said, "Okay, Luis. Now that she's asleep. We will start the operation. Will you step outside please?" Luis sadly nodded and walked outside to wait in the waiting room. He sat there for hours, waiting for Sheridan to be done with her operation. He was dreading it though, because he knew that sooner of later, he would have to tell Sheridan what happened to her baby, and it would break her heart. The best thing he could do was be there for her when she needed him. She wasn't going to accept this very easily, but he would help her...

**A FEW HOURS LATER**

Luis stood up when he saw Sheridan come out of her room and walk up to him. He took her in his arms and held her tightly. "Hey, Luis." "Hey. How are you feeling?" Luis asked. "I'm fine. I just feel a little sore." "I'm so sorry about before." Luis said. "It's okay, Luis. I just hope you realize how special this child is to me." Luis looked up at Eve, who was signalling him to tell Sheridan about her baby. Luis slowly pulled back from their embrace. Sheridan looked into his eyes and saw sadness.

"Luis, what's wrong?" Luis sighed. This was it. There was no turning back. "Sheridan. I need to tell you something." Luis led her to the couch and they sat down. Sheridan was starting to get worried. "Luis, what is it?" Luis cleared his throat and started, "Sheridan... I... it kills me to be the one to tell you this, but..." "What, Luis?" Sheridan asked with a small smile. "Sheridan, they couldn't save your baby. It's dead." Sheridan smile slowly came into a shocked look. "Dead?" She whispered. Luis sadly nodded his head.

Without a word, Sheridan slowly stood up and walked over to the full-length window. She stared outside in shock, as the tears started to come down her face. Luis came up behind her and wrapped his arms around her. She felt limp and shaky. Luis said, "I'm so sorry, Sheridan. I'm so sorry." Sheridan didn't say anything. She just continued to stare blankly out the window. She said, "No, it can't be. It can't be dead. It just wouldn't be right." Eve came up to her, "I'm sorry, Sheridan, but it is. I'm sorry, but you're gonna have to accept it." Sheridan closed her eyes as tears poured out. She stepped out of Luis's embrace and looked at Eve.

"Out of curiousity, did you find out who's child it was? It doesn't matter, but I'd like to know." Eve said, "Yes. We did. The father was Hank." Sheridan nodded. Luis came up behind her and said, "Well, look on the bright side. At least Hank's child died, not mine." Sheridan slowly turned around and when she did, he saw anger and pain in her eyes. She said, "You are such a bastard, Luis." Sheridan burst into tears as they ran from them. Luis watched her leave, but found that he couldn't run after her. Those words hurt him, but he knew that it was cold-hearted, what he just said. He sunk into a chair and said, "Damit. How could I have been so stupid?" Eve said, "Luis, so after her. This is hard on her. You have to be there for her." Luis stood up. He knew that Eve was right. He had to apolize for everything that happened. He had to talk to her now. Luis walked out of the hospital. He got in his car and drove off to Sheridan's cottage...

Chapter 12: Will Love Last?

Sheridan ran into her cottage and collasped on the couch. She had never felt so sad in all of her life. Her baby was dead and Luis was acting happy about it. She knew that he meant well. She knew that he wanted what's best for her, but that baby deserved to live. She buried her face in her hands and started to cry. A few minutes later, Luis was in through the door. When Sheridan saw him, she got up from the couch and turned her back on him. She said, "What are you doing here?"

"We need to talk," Luis said as he closed the door. Sheridan wiped her tears away, "There is nothing to talk about." "Look, Sheridan. I know I've been really bad to you lately." Sheridan turned around and gave him an angry smile, "Yes, you have." "Sheridan, I do wish that that baby had lived. I really do." "Why? It wasn't yours. What do you care?" "Number one... you're right. That baby did deserve to live. Number two... I knew how much you loved it." Luis said. Sheridan turned her back on him again.

Luis came up to her and turned her around to face in. "Sheridan, I love you. I love you more than anything in this world and it kills me to see you in pain. I was afraid that... having this child, would cause you more pain. I didn't want to see you go through that just yet, whether is was mine or not. Please, Sheridan. You have to forgive me." When Sheridan looked into his eyes, she saw sadness, love, and understanding. Her anger subsided. She loved him so much. How could she not forgive him?

Luis said, "I love you. Please, don't turn away from me. Forgive me?" Sheridan slowly nodded yes as tears came down her face once more. Luis wiped her tears away with his thumb and pulled her into an embrace. Sheridan clung onto him and rested her head on his shoulder. He swayed her back and forth and said, "I promise, I'll stick by you through this. I know this is going to be tough, but I'll always be here for you. I love you." "I love you too, Luis." Sheridan said. They sat down on the couch and layed in each other's arms until Sheridan fell asleep.

**A WEEK LATER**

Sheridan had been in so much pain, trying to get over the loss of her child. They had a funeral for him a few days later. She could hardly stand it, but Luis was there to hold her and comfort her through this horrible time. Now, she was back at her cottage, trying to get over it and move on with her life. Luis stayed at her cottage 24/7 just incase she needed him. He slept on the couch. Sheridan was now in her bed, with a smile on her face...

**DREAM**

Luis and Sheridan laid in bed as they finished making love, yet again. Luis stroked her arms and smiled, "I have never felt more happy." Luis said. Sheridan said, "Me too. What a wonderful life we have created together?" "Yes. Not only are you my wonderful, beautiful wife, but now, we have two children of our very own. Twins at that." "Life couldn't get any better." Sheridan said. Luis answered, "Yes, your family could never come between us. I love you so much I don't think there is anything that could make me stop loving you." "Do you mean that?" Sheridan said as she sat up to look at him. "I promise. I will love you forever." He gave her a soft kiss.

Suddenly, the door flew open and Jullian walked in. "I wouldn't say that if I were you." Luis took Sheridan into his arms. "What are you talking about, Crane?" "I'm talking about your father." "My father?" "Yes, Sheridan is the one who killed Martin all those years ago." "What?" Luis yelled as he jumped away from their embrace. "You got that right. Sheridan is responsible for your father's death." Luis put on his boxers and got off the bed. "I can't believe it." "No, Luis. Please." "No, don't ever speak to me again. I'm through with you. I should have known that you were like the other Cranes."

"Luis, please__." "No. I am taking the kids with me. I want a divorce. I never want to lay eyes on you again." With that, Luis turned and left the room, leaving Sheridan in tears. Suddenly, her bedroom turned into a large courtroom. She was standing on one of the stands. Everyone seemed to tower over her. She spotted Luis and her twins by his sides. "Oh, my children." She reached out to touch them, but they backed away from her. They said in hypnotic voices, "You killed Grandfather. You're a murderer."

"No, I'm not." Sheridan cried. Luis stepped in, "Get away from them. I don't want you to fill their heads with your lies." The judge started to speak, "Sheridan Crane. You are sentenced to life in prison." "No," Sheridan cried. She turned around to face Luis and she begged, "Please, Luis. Don't do this." "Take her away," Luis said coldly. Two guards grabbed her by the arms and started to pull her away. Sheridan watched Luis and her children, who stared at her coldly. As they faded away, she had never felt more pain...

**REALITY**

"AAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!" Sheridan screamed. Luis, who was awaken from the scream, came rushing into her room seconds later. He hauled her into his arms and said, "Sheridan! What happened?" She clung onto him, "Oh god. Oh god." She whispered, shakily. "Shh. Hey, hey. It's okay." He said as he stroked her hair. Luis was getting worried, she had had nightmares like this before. They must have been horrible because she would always wake up crying. He pulled back from her and looked at her, "Sheridan. Tell me, what's going on?" "Nothing. I was just having a nightmare." Sheridan tried to cover up. Luis said, "Sheridan, you've had these nightmares before. From what I can tell, they are awful. Please, tell me Sheridan."

"I can't," Sheridan said as she stood up and walked over to the window. "Why not?" Luis asked, still sitting on the bed. Sheridan closed her eyes to try to stop the tears from pouring out onto her cheeks. "Because if I do, you'll hate me." Luis felt his heart sunk. He got up and walked over to her, "Hate you?" He turned Sheridan to face him and cupped her face in his hands, "Sheridan, I love you. I could never hate you. How could a nightmare make me hate you?" "Because it could be real."

Sheridan said as she pulled away from him. "What do you mean?" He asked. Sheridan sat down on the bed again and said, "My nightmares started when I was a child, but I've been thinking that maybe it wasn't a dream. Maybe it really did happen." Sheridan started to cry again. Luis wiped away her tears and said, "Sheridan, please. Tell me. I love you so much, I don't think anything can stop me from loving you." "You don't know that Luis. Things change... people change... once you know, you're feelings will change for me too." "No, Sheridan. That will never happen." Luis said as he stared at her intensily.

Sheridan didn't say anything. When she looked into his dark eyes, she saw pure love. She wondered if maybe he would still love her. Even if he didn't, he deserved to know the truth. "Sheridan, please, tell me what's wrong? It kills me to se you in pain and I won't stand for it anymore. Tell me about your nightmares." Sheridan slowly nodded her head. Luis smiled and sat down on the bed next to her.

Very slowly, she told Luis about her nightmares and her fear about that night. When it was over, Luis said, "So that's what it's all about. You're afraid that you killed someone." Sheridan nodded her head. "Sheridan, I highly doubt that you actually killed someone. Even if you did, you were a kid." Sheridan gulped. She had one more thing to tell Luis about that night, and she was afraid to hear the answer. "Luis... that night was also the same night that your father disappeared." She said...

Chapter 13: Nothing Can Change That

"Luis... that night was the same night your father disappeared." She said. She looked at the floor and then back into his eyes. Luis didn't say anything. Could it be that Sheridan killed his father? No, it couldn't be. Even if it was, she was just a little girl. Sheridan waited for a reaction and when she didn't get one, she stood up, "It's okay, Luis. I don't blame you for hating me." She started to walk out of the room. Luis followed her into the living room. She made a try for the door, but Luis grabbed her arm, "Sheridan, wait..." "Look, Luis. I understand. You don't have to pretend." "Sheridan, no. I still love you."

"Luis..." she said, trying to relax, "I just need some time to think this through. I need to go out." "Okay, I'll take you to the park." Luis said. "No. I mean alone Luis. I just need to be alone to think about this for a while." "You promise to come back, soon?" Luis asked. "Yes, I promise." Sheridan grabbed her coat and walked outside. Luis looked out the window and watched her leave. What she had just told him did shake him up, but it didn't stop him from loving her. He wanted to prove to her in every way how much he loved her. Then, an idea came into his head. "That's it." Luis said as he picked up the phone and dialed the number.

**A FEW HOURS LATER**

Sheridan walked up to her house. She had wandered around the park for so long and was now ready to come back. She thought about what Luis would do or say, but she knew that she couldn't run away from this. She had to talk to him. She stood on front of the door and took a deep breathe before opening the door. She gasped at what she saw. The room was surrounded with red roses and candles. The lights were dimed and soft music was playing in the background. "Oh my gosh," Sheridan whispered. She spotted a trail of letters on the floor, leading to her bedroom.

She picked up the first one and it read, "You are the love of my life..." Sheridan smiled. It was Luis. Did he actually still love her? She picked up the next one. "No matter what happens..." She picked up the next, "Or what you did..." "I will always love you..." "So come with me and lie with me..." "And I'll so you just how much I love you." Sheridan saw another one inside her bedroom. She took it, stood up and read it, "Turn around." And soon as she read it, she turned around and was instantly captured in a heart-stopping kiss. It was sweet and soft, yet passionate and hard at the same time.

They pulled back minutes later and Sheridan noticed that Luis was standing before him naked. Luis gave her a sexy smile, before pulling her into another steamy kiss. He pushed her back towards the bed and her knees stopped at the edge. Luis gently took her shirt and pulled it off of her, exposing her to him. He left her lips and started to kiss her shoulder and neck. Sheridan smiled in pleasure. This felt like a dream. Could Luis actually still love her after what he heard? She prayed so, but how could he? Did he love her that much?

When he pulled the rest of her clothes off and pushed her onto the bed, she knew that he did. Luis covered her body with his and their bodies intertwined. They were like one person. The sweat was already forming on their bodies. Luis settled himself in a good position and entered her. He wasn't rough this time, he was slow and gentle. He wanted to show her that he loved her so much and would do anything for her. He moved from her lips to her chest and caressed her nipple with his tongue. Sheridan could never be happier.

He nuzzled her neck with his head as he continued to fill her. Sheridan suddenly screamed out his name as she climaxed. Luis hit the peek and lost all control. Suddenly, he started moving at a fast rate, moving them up and down as he moved within her. As his thrusts became harder and harder, tears started to come down Sheridan's face, in pleasure and in pain. Luis felt her tear drops on his neck and exited her and looked into her eyes.

"Sheridan, you're crying. What's wrong? Did I hurt you?" "No, I'm just so happy. I never thought this would ever happen again after what you heard me say." "Sheridan..." Luis cupped Sheridan's face in his hands, "I love you. Nothing... and I mean nothing... can change that." He pulled her into another kiss. They continued to make love.

**MANY PLEASANT HOURS LATER**

Sheridan caught her breath as she laid against Luis's chest. They had just finished making hot passionate love. Luis was too out of breath. It felt so good to make love to her again. As he held her in his arms, he could feel her silky, sweated body, pressed up against his own. God, he loved her so much. He would give anything to wake up like this everyday for the rest of his life, with the most wonderful woman in the world.

"So, you still love me?" Sheridan asked. Luis stroked her arms, "Yes, I do. I always have and I always will." "But how? After what's happened?" "It might not have happened, Sheridan. And even if you did kill my father, I will never ever stop loving you." Luis said. "Oh Luis," Sheridan pulled back to look at him, "I had no idea you felt so strongly for me." "How could I not? Everything about you is perfect." "Oh, come on. I'm not perfect." "Yes, you are." "Oh yeah, how?" Sheridan asked, still looking at Luis.

Luis smiled and said, "You smart, poised, compassionate, giving, caring..." Tears started to well up in Sheridan's eyes. "... and amazing, and surprising, and beautiful, and perfect... no, wait. I take that back. You're better than perfect. There isn't a word to describe what you are, but let's just say, I wouldn't want to live without you..." Tears streamed down Sheridan's face, but Luis wiped them away...

"I want to wake up every morning, and see your beautiful face. I want to have a life with you. I want you to be mine forever..." Luis sat up with Sheridan and reached under the bed. He pulled out a small velvet box. Sheridan gasped and covered her mouth with her hands. "Oh God!" "Sheridan... there will never be another woman in the world for me. If I can't have you, I won't have anyone. You are my life, my soul, my reason for living. Be with me forever. Be my wife. Sheridan... will you marry me?"

Sheridan removed her hands from her mouth and Luis saw the most glorious smile her had ever seen in his life. It made his heart melt. Then, Sheridan shouted out, "Yes, Luis. Yes. I will marry you. I'll be your's forever." Luis took her into his arms and kissed her passionately, knowing that she was his forever. He hugged her close to him and tears came down his face. "Oh Sheridan. You have many me so happy." "We'll be together forever, Luis. The way it was always meant to be." Sheridan said.

**FLASHBACK ENDS**

Sheridan Lopez-Fitzgerald gazes out her dusty window as she holds Rachel in her arms. A tiny baby, who was the perfect child. As she looked at her daugther, she remembered Luis. The one true love of her life. And now, he was gone forever. Why did he do it? Why did he abandon her? He didn't say anything. He left without a trace, not even a phone call. 'Just like Pilar,' Sheridan thought, 'Martin ran out on her, and now Luis has ran out on me.' A tear tricked down her cheek as she looked back at the window. "Why Luis? Why did you leave me?"

Chapter 14: Memories

Luis wiped his eyes as he stoof before Costa De Marbella. This was the place that Sheridan had on the slides she gave him for Christmas. God, how he wished he was with her now. He wished that she was there with him. He missed her so much. He wanted to hold her in his arms again and kiss her. She meant more to him than anything in the world. It had been over a year since he had last seen her. It was becoming unbearable. He wanted his old life back. He wanted Sheridan back. He suddenly flacked back to their honeymoon...

**FLASHBACK**

Luis and Sheridan stood on the balcony of their suite in Bermuda, as the sun was setting. It was so beautiful, so romantic. Luis kissed her neck, "I can't believe you're my wife." "Mmmm... it feels so nice to know that we will be together forever." Luis turned her around and looked into her eyes, lovingly, "No matter what happens, nothing can keep us apart." He kissed her passionately.

**FLASHBACK ENDS**

"Nothing can keep us apart." Luis whispered to himself as a tear rolled down his cheek. Why God? Why was this happening? He and Sheridan were so happy. They were the perfect couple. Heck, they even created their own, beautiful child, Rachel. His daughter was so beautiful. She looked so much like Sheridan. Rachel was his pride and joy. He remembered the wonderful day that his daughter was born...

**FLASHBACK**

Luis held Sheridan hand tightly as she cried. "Shh... it's okay, baby. It's okay. You're gonna make it." "Please, Luis. Make it stop." "Don't worry, honey. It will be over soon. Soon, we'll have a beautiful child." Luis reassured. Sheridan smiled a little. The doctor said, "Okay, this is it. Get ready to push Sheridan." "Okay, Sheridan. Just like we practiced." Sheridan started to scream and she pushed. "Come on, Sheridan. You're doing great." The doctor said. Luis squeezed Sheridan's hand tighter. He kept telling her how wonderful she was and how proud he was of her.

Finally, the doctor said, "Okay. One more push." Luis said, "I love you, Sheridan." That gave Sheridan the strength she needed, she pushed again and she collasped onto the bed as she heard a baby crying... her baby. Luis stroked her hair as she caught her breath. Then, the doctor placed the baby into her arms. Sheridan starred down at her baby, her beautiful baby. She had never been so happy.

The doctor said, "Congratulations. You have a baby daughter." Sheridan looked up at Luis, who was hovering over her with tears in his eyes. Sheridan said, "Luis. We have a baby girl." Luis smiled as he looked at his beautiful daughter. "Oh Sheridan. She's wonderful." He pulled Sheridan into a full kiss, then they continued to stare at their daughter.

A few minutes later, the baby had calmed down. Sheridan smiled up at Luis. "She's perfect. Isn't she, Luis?" Luis smiled and asked, "Can I hold her?" Sheridan smiled and handed the baby to Luis. Ther baby whimpered for a second, but she settled into her father's arms. She laughed at her daddy. Luis smiled back and whispered cute little baby words to her. He sat next to Sheridan with Rachel in his arms and said, "Now, be good to your mommy.

She's the most wonderful woman in the world. I love her so much, and I know you will too. Just wait and see, you'll have the perfect life." Luis gave Sheridan a kiss, then kissed her daughter. They held the child together as Luis held the two people he loved more than anything in the world in his arms. This was the perfect family...

**FLASHBACK ENDS**

God, HE miss them so much. Why did this happen? Sheridan and Rachel didn't deserve this kind of torture. He wished he could be there to protect them for harm, but he wasn't, all thanks to... them. They ruined his life and Sheridan's and Rachel's in the process. He remembered the day that his life was destroyed forever...

**FLASHBACK**

Luis woke up with a headache and looked around. He was tied up in the Crane library. He suddenly knew what was going on... Jullian. Suddenly, the door opened and Jullian came in. Luis glarred at him. "What the hell do you think you're doing?" "I'm protecting the family." Jullian said. "You bastard." Luis broke the ropes on his wrists, got up and charged at Jullian. Before he could get there, he was pulled back by two guards.

"I wouldn't do that if I were you," Jullian said, "You'll make it much harder for Sheridan." "What the hell have you done with her? Leave Sheridan alone." Luis struggled against the guards, put couldn't break free. "Nothing. See for yourself." Luis turned around and saw a monitor. It had screens of different placed on the Crane estate. He also saw a monitor that was showing inside Sheridan and Luis's living room. Sheridan was there, holding Rachel in her arms, rocking her to sleep as she hummed a lullaby. She looked so beautiful.

"If you don't do what I say, Sheridan and Rachel will be destroyed." "You don't scare me." Luis said. "Oh really? It just so happens that someone is there, ready to finish them off once I give the order." Luis looked at the back of the screen and saw a man at the window, aiming a gun at Sheridan. "NOOO!!! Don't hurt them." Luis cried out. Jullian said, "If you'll listen to me and do as I say, I will leave Sheridan and Rachel alone." Luis hesitated. He knew that whatever Jullian was gonna say was not good, but he had to do it... for Sheridan.

He asked, "What do you want?" "Luis... you must move to Spain. Without telling your family, you must leave the country." "Are you crazy?" Luis asked. "No, I'm quite serious." "You're asking me to abandon my family?" "Yes, unless of course, you want to see them dead." Jullian said. Luis looked at the floor. God, what was he going to do. Luis was being ordered to abandon Sheridan and Rachel and if he didn't, they would be killed.

He thought for a moment and sighed. He knew what he had to do. He slowly look at Jullian and nodded his head. "What is your answer, Luis?" "Fine, I'll do it. If you won't hurt them, then I'll do it." Jullian let out an evil laugh. Luis stared back at the screen and at the woman he loved more than anything. He would never be able to see her again...

**FLACHBACK ENDS**

Luis brushed his tears away. "I'll make them pay for hurting us, and I'll find a way back to Sheridan. I have to. Someday soon, I will be with my family again. Luis tried to smile. He had to find a way to bring down Jullian and get Sheridan back. She probably was devastated, thinking that he abandoned her. He stared back at Costa de Marbella and thought, 'I can feel it. Everything will work out. I know it.'...

Chapter 15: Get Away

Theresa walked up to Sheridan's house and knocked. "Come in," Sheridan said. Theresa opened the door and walked in. She saw Sheridan sitting on the couch with Rachel in her arms and tears in her eyes. Theresa felt so bad for Sheridan. She knew how much she loved Luis. It must of killed her when he disappeared. Now that Theresa and Ethan were seeing each other, she had become best friends with Sheridan. She hated to see her in pain.

Sheridan looked up at Theresa, "Theresa. Hi." "Hi. I just came over to see how you're doing." Theresa said as she sat next to Sheridan, "Are you okay?" "No, I haven't been okay for over a year now. I miss Luis more and more everyday. I can't believe he would abandon us like that." Sheridan said, looking away from Theresa. Theresa took Sheridan's hand. "Sheridan, maybe Luis did it for a reason. Maybe he did it to protect you and Rachel from harm." "I just want him back."

"We all do, Sheridan. Now... I thought I would give you a little break. Why don't I take Rachel and watch her and you can go out for a while?" Theresa said. "Oh no, Theresa. I couldn't..." "No, really. I love watching Rachel. She's fun. Go on." Theresa said. Sheridan smiled and handed Rachel to Theresa. She got her stuff and left the cottage. Luis sat on his bed at his house, thinking about the wife he missed so much. He decided to watch the news. "Today, Jullian discusses what the future will be for his sister, Sheridan." The reporter said.

Luis jumped up as he heard her name. He saw Jullian saying, "Sheridan will be married to her good friend, Warren." A reporter asked, "What about Sheridan's old husband, Luis?" "Luis? He had been gone for over a year now. He abandoned poor Sheridan and no one has seen him since. It's time for Sheridan to move on, and marry Warren. He will make her very happy." Luis turned off the TV. He couldn't take it anymore. Sheridan belonged to him, not that Warren guy.

And he would never abandon Sheridan. God, if only she knew what really happened. "God, I've gotta see her again. I miss her so much." He stood up and walked over to his window and stared outside at Spain. He was stuck here forever. He wasn't even aloud to leave Spain. How was he going to get back to Sheridan? And even if he did, how was he going to make sure she didn't get hurt? He still couldn't believe everything that had happened. He remembered when Jullian was put in jail for kidnapping Sheridan long ago. He thought that he would never be able to hurt Sheridan again.

It was until that day at the mansion when he found out that he was wrong. What was so damn important about Luis and Sheridan being together? They weren't hurting anybody. They weren't even hurting the Crane Empire. He guessed that the Cranes just couldn't see Sheridan be happy. They probably made Sheridan believe that Luis really abandoned her. He wouldn't doubt it. If he ever got out of here and made it back to Sheridan, he would make Jullian and Alistair pay for putting them through this. Poor Sheridan, he missed her so much. And he missed his daughter too.

Rachel was a little angel, just like Sheridan. The perfect child. She never caused any trouble. She deserved the best life. She derseved to be happy. She deserved to have a father in her life. He wouldn't take that away from her. He wanted to be there for his daughter. He couldn't be stuck her forever. He wanted to be there for Rachel when she went to school, when she made friends, when she found a boyfriend, when she graduated, when she had kids of her own... and he wanted to do it with the woman of his dreams by his side.

His beautiful Sheridan. God, he would give anything to hold her in his arms again. Sheridan didn't deserve to be treated like this. All her life, she had been pushed around by her family and used by idiots who wouldn't know a wonderful woman if she smacked him in the face. She deserved love more than anyone in the world and Luis loved her more than life itself.

Luis sighed as he starred out the window at Spain. This was the place he was supposed to spend the rest of his life at, without Sheridan. He never to find a way to get out of here. He had to find his beloved Sheridan. Luis took off his wedding ring and brought it up to his face. He kissed it softly and squeezed it tightly in his hands. "Please, God. I need to be with Sheridan. Please, help me find her."

Sheridan came back into her house after a nice, long walk. Theresa was waiting for her. "Yeah, Sheridan." "Hey Theresa. I've made a decision." "What decision?" "Well... things have been really hard for me. So I thought that I could get get out of Harmony for a week or two. Go somewhere I really love." Sheridan said. "That sounds great," Theresa said. "Yeah, but, Theresa can I ask you a favor?" Sheridan asked. "Sure, shoot." Theresa said.

"Well... I was wondering if you could watch Rachel for me while I'm gone." "Oh, I'd love to Sheridan." Theresa said. "Are you sure?" "Yes, of course." Theresa said. "Oh thank you, Theresa. You are a great friend." "No, problem, Sheridan. When are you leaving?" "Tommorrow." "Wow, that's quick. Where are you going?" Theresa asked. Sheridan asked, "Spain."...
