Bo & Hope #38 April 12 - June 21, 1999: 8 hour original edit
DVD #38A 4/12 Bo shows John and Greta the picture of Gina and Stefano. Greta exclaims "Oh my God I was right, Stefano and my mother!" Bo asks what she is talking about? Greta tells him that she thinks Stefano was in love with her mother, and when she died, he transformed Hope into her mother.
Bo wonders if "Hope" is pushing him away because she's remembering more and more about her past, and maybe she's remembering her feelings for Stefano. Bo says that if Greta's theory was true, Hope may have been involved with Stefano, and enjoyed it.
Then Bo begins to wonder if Stefano was Gina's one true love. John flat out says no! Gina never loved Stefano. Bo asks how he knows that and John says it is instinct. John wants to talk to "Hope," but Bo says she moved out. Bo then storms out of the house to get to the truth. Greta decides to go make some coffee and John contemplates the possibility of Stefano and Gina being romantically involved, and then he wonders if he could have been Gina's great love.
Gina and Stefano flirt and Gina reminds him that he's still a married man. Stefano says that Vivian is dying, therefore he must think of his future, with her. Gina tells Steffie that he is a naughty naughty boy. Stefano says he loves his wife, but there are many kinds of love. Gina knows what he is speaking of, there is casual love and then the love of a lifetime. Stefano asks Gina what she meant earlier by saying she was free? Gina says she got rid off Bo, she packed her bags and left.
Stefano is furious and tells her that she is going to make Bo suspicious. Gina tells Stefano that living in that house is driving her insane, she wants to return to her life in Europe. She tells him that she wants to recapture her passion, and asks him if he remembers it? Stefano tells her there is a time and place for everything. Stefano then tells Gina that he suspects she has an agenda of her own.
Gina says she has no agenda, she only wants to return to her old life in Europe with him. Stefano tells her for now, just be Hope. Gina begs Stefano to let her stay here, but he refuses. He suggest she just look forward to the life they will resume in Europe. Stefano remembers a time they spent on an Island, but Gina only remembers that they went there because it is where he and the real Gina went.
Stefano talks about Gina and says he's only truly loved one woman. Gina tells Stefano that he never showed her how he felt about the real Gina, but she always knew that he loved and wanted her. Steffie eventually caves in and tells her she can stay with Lily if she refuses to return to the Horton house. Gina hugs Stefano as Bo shows up.
4/13 John asks Greta if she's positive that Gina never mentioned Stefano? Greta tells him that the only man her mom ever talked about was him. However, Greta remembers one time when she asked her mother if she was in love with someone, someone she would have died for. Gina told her there was someone, but she never told her who.
Gina only told Greta that the man she loved was charming, brave, and they had a lot in common. Greta hoped her mother would have married the man so she could have a father. Greta remembers asking her mom if the man was father John? Gina told her that Father John is a priest and can never fall in love, or marry. John says that he knows Stefano was not the great love of her life.
At the DiMera mansion, Bo rings the doorbell. Inside, Stefano tells Gina that the maid will get rid of whoever is at the door. Gina and Stefano are holding each other when Bo barges in after the maid answers the door. Bo decks Stefano and "Hope" tries to stop them from fighting.
"Hope" hugs Bo and tells him that he has to help her. Bo asks what she's doing here and "Hope" tells him that she came here to tell Stefano what he and Greta found in Capri, and she wanted to let him know he will never control her again. "Hope" then starts telling Stefano that he'll never control her or anyone else again. Bo asks "Hope" why she was in his arms, they looked like were lovers.
"Hope" acts shocked and tells Bo that she was shaking Stefano, not holding him. "Hope" realizes Bo doesn't believe her and begins to cry. Bo tells "Hope" that he doesn't know her anymore. "Hope" begins crying on Bo's shoulder, but Bo asks her why she walked out on him if she's so dedicated to him? "Hope" tells Bo that she is very confused and he wasn't respecting her wishes. Bo wants to ask her about the picture, but she says she can't talk anymore and walks out.
Bo finds "Hope" at Salem Place and tells her that the reason he went to DiMera's was because of a picture he found. He shows her the picture and "Hope" is shocked that he has it.
4/14 Stefano and Rolf argue about how Hope is not the real Gina. Stefano asks Rolf if he gets some kind of kick from raining on his parade? Rolf says he only does his job, which is to protect him. Stefano remembers when he sent John back to the States and Gina demanded to know what he did with John.
Flashback to: Stefano says John was needed elsewhere and he'll get her another partner. Gina says she wants to work with John! Stefano says John is just one of his creations, he's not even a real person! Gina then slaps Stefano like no one has ever slapped him before! Gina tells Stefano that John may be one of his trainees, but he has a heart and soul of his own.
Gina refuses to believe his devotion and friendship to her and Greta was an act. Stefano apologizes for being harsh. Gina demands Stefano bring John back, but Stefano says she no longer needs him because she has him. Stefano looks at Gina and tells her that he loves her.
Stefano comes back into the present and tells Rolf that he knows Gina wasn't in love with John, but he remembers that is when Gina was hit with her illness. Stefano is positive that Gina never stopped loving him, and now they will can be together again.
"Hope" tries to convince Bo that Celeste saved the photo of herself and Stefano, but Bo doesn't buy it. She then tells Bo that she found it in one of Lily's books. Bo asks if she's telling him the truth? He can't help but wonder if she's having happy memories of time spent with DiMera. "Hope" acts shocked and says she didn't show him the picture because she knew he'd react exactly how he is right now.
Bo tells her that she is not responsible for what she did, Stefano brainwashed her. "Hope" asks Bo if he thinks she's one of Stefano's whores? "Hope" refuses to listen to him any more, and walks off. Bo chases after her and apologizes.
"Hope" tells Bo that she's so afraid of what her relationship with DiMera was and wants to stop this search for her past. Bo tells "Hope" that he knows she won't be satisfied until she knows the truth about her past. "Hope" says he is the one who won't drop the past, and she can't deal with him choosing Billie.
Bo suggests they go back to Mrs. H's and then out to dinner. "Hope" says that she can't go back to Gran's, as she has to work these things out on her own. "Hope" walks off and realizes she has to come up with a way to get Bo off her back.
Elsewhere, Billie shows up and starts playing with the compact and mumbling how if Georgia hadn't died, she and Bo would be together. Gina spots Billie and realizes exactly what she needs to do. Gina approaches Billie, who quickly puts the compact behind her back.
4/15 Hope stuns Billie with the news that she and Bo are not going to get married. She apologizes to Billie, saying that she was a cause of Billie losing her baby. Hope continues that she was jealous of the fact that Bo fell in love with Billie. Billie is stunned that Hope is admitting this, and Hope claims that she thinks Bo is still in love with Billie. This floors her, and Hope feeds Billie's desire saying that the love Bo had for Billie was deep and that he is not over her. An elated Billie walks off and Hope is pleased with her performance.
At the Cheatin Heart, John advises Bo that he doubts that Gina was in love with Stefano but thinks that she was in love with him. He then mentions that he remembers celebrating with Gina. Bo confides in John about Hope's strange behavior. As the two continue talking, John begins to suffer from a terrible headache. He steps outside to clear his head and wonders what is happening to him. Billie joins Bo at the Cheatin Heart while Hope runs into John at the mall.
4/19 At the Cheatin' Heart, Bo and Billie are talking and shooting pool. Bo tells Billie about his fight with Hope and how she doesn't want to connect with him. Billie tells Bo she thinks she knows why, and she tells him that "Hope" is still upset about him committing to her in Rome. Bo doesn't understand why she can't get past this.
Billie tells him that from a woman's point of view, when a man gives his heart to another woman, it is very painful. Bo realizes he shouldn't be talking to her about this, but Billie says she wants to talk to him about it. Bo doesn't understand why "Hope" hasn't been herself lately. Billie asks what he means, so Bo tells her about the picture of "Hope" and Stefano. He then tells Billie how "Hope" has also moved out of Mrs. H's house. Billie says that doesn't sound like "Hope" at all.
Bo tells Billie that he has to find out what is going on with "Hope" before it's too late. Billie suggests that Bo give "Hope" the space she needs. Bo asks Billie how she is doing? Billie says she is good and misses him, as a friend. Billie asks Bo if he's forgiven her for the baby? Bo tells her yes and that he doesn't hate her, and he'd like for them to be close again.
In Salem Place, John and "Hope" talk. When John mentions his headaches, Gina recalls how massaging John's temples used to ease the pain. She walks over to John and begins to give him a massage. John tells her that it feels good. "Hope" tells him that she did this for Bo all the time.
John tells her that she is a good friend and he believes she is the only one who can understand what he's going through. "Hope" tells John that she believes they can help one another. John explains how rough this is for him, he's beginning to question whether or not he was faithful to the church while he was a priest.
John tells "Hope" about his memory of being with Gina in Capri. What is troubling him is that his name wasn't in the hotel records. "Hope" tells John that she knows his memory is a real one. John asks her how she knows? "Hope" claims that she too is having memories of being Gina.
"Hope" tells John that what he felt for Gina was beautiful, nothing to be ashamed of. She tells him that he had a wonderful and fulfilling life before he met Marlena, and he can have that life again. John tells her that he wants to find the answers, but what if he learns he was the love of Gina's life? "Hope" tells John "Gina had wonderful taste."
4/20 "Hope" tells John that he has to face the fact they he may not have been a priest. John wonders who he is, and says DiMera is the only one who really knows. "Hope" tells John that she knows, he is the same man he has always been. John mentions the picture of her and Stefano. "Hope" says she doesn't want to believe the thought of her being with Stefano, just like he doesn't want to believe he was the love of Gina's life.
"Hope" says they don't have to go through this alone, they can help each other. "Hope" asks John to let her help him. John wants to know the truth and accepts her offer. "Hope" takes John by the hand and leads him to Tuscany. John asks her what they are doing? "Hope" tells him that they are going to recreate the memory he had at the hotel with Gina. John orders some Don Renard 76, but the waiter doesn't have it, so "Hope" orders 88. "Hope" excuses herself to use the bathroom.
John opens and pours the champagne and when "Hope" comes back, John pours her a glass. He tells her that he didn't want it to get warm and lose its effervescence. "Hope" remembers the old John saying the same thing, and she is positive that he is remembering. John remembers it too, and tells "Hope" that the memory was real. "Hope" encourages John to try to remember what happened next. Meanwhile, Marlena excuses herself from her table and sees John and "Hope" staring into each other's eyes, almost as they are about to kiss.
Stefano tells Rolf about his plans to hold an elegant ball for Gina when they return to Europe. Rolf reminds him that he is still married. Stefano says that he has to face the fact that Vivian is going to die. Stefano says that Gina's return is an act of God, but Rolf says God didn't turn Hope into Gina. Stefano says what matters is that Gina is back and he wants to love her again, that he loved her as he has loved no other woman.
Rolf tells Stefano that he let him believe they were bringing Gina back to complete the forgeries and to keep Bo and Hope from learning the truth about the four years she was living as Gina. Rolf warns Stefano that he is going to slip up and everyone will learn the truth and it will destroy him. Stefano assures Rolf that he won't let down his guard.
Stefano says that John is the only other one who knows the truth, and he no longer knows it. Rolf says the memories have been erased, but who knows what Gina can do if she puts her mind to it. Stefano asks Rolf why he thinks Gina could get John to remember his past? Rolf says he isn't saying it's possible, but Gina does seem to want John back. Stefano dismisses that and says he plans to make the best of his future with Gina. Rolf wonders if Gina's vision of the future includes Stefano.
4/21 Bo and Billie are still playing pool at the Cheatin' Heart. Billie is thankful that she didn't drive him out of her life completely. Bo says what she did is in the past, plus he had a lot to do with it. Billie tells Bo that she ran into "Hope" today and Bo asks if she said anything odd. Billie remembers "Hope" telling her that she thought Bo still loved her.
Billie tells Bo that "Hope" did say something, but asks Bo what he thinks is wrong with her? Bo tells her that "Hope" is moody and cold at times, but loving and warm other times. Bo asks Billie once again what "Hope" said to her, and Billie tells him that she understood how much she suffered when he (Bo) left her and she's sorry for her (Hope's) part in it.
Bo hopes that means she is getting over it, but Billie tells Bo that she got the impression that she doesn't want to get over it. Bo asks her why she would think that? Billie tells him that as long as she claims to feel hurt and betrayed, she won't have to commit to him. Billie tells Bo that he has to forgive himself, even if Hope doesn't. Bo tells Billie that she is right, "Hope" is using this as an excuse, and wonders what happened. He says "it's not like she's in love with someone else." Bo knows "Hope" is remembering more than she's letting on.
Billie tells Bo that when she was in Switzerland, Hope immersed herself in Gina's life, almost like Hope didn't exist. She suggests that perhaps that is what she is doing now. Billie tells Bo that she's worried about him and only wants him to be happy, and "Hope" hasn't made him happy yet.
Billie realizes it is getting late and says she has to go meet Roman at Tuscany. Bo says she's been hanging out a lot with Roman lately. Billie tells Bo that they have helped each other a lot over the last few months. Billie tells Bo that he deserves to be happy. Bo pays the bill and offers to drive her to Tuscany.
John and "Hope" are staring into one another's eyes as if they are about to kiss when Marlena spots them, and she doesn't look pleased. Gina goes to kiss John, but Marlena stops her by asking, "what is going on here?" Roman follows Marlena and John and "Hope" tell them that they are re-enacting his memory in hope that they can both remember what happened.
Marlena points out that John's memories are of the real Princess Gina. "Hope" says that she was just hoping it would trigger something. Marlena is upset and says that they don't even know if the memories are real. "Hope" says that they are real all right, so Marlena asks her how she knows that? "Hope" tells Marlena that she has had memory flashes of the hotel in Capri as well, and John's memory matches hers.
Marlena thinks it is just the power of suggestion. "Hope" doesn't understand why she doesn't want John to remember his past? Marlena says she does want John to remember, but she doesn't understand why SHE wants it so badly? "Hope" says she is interested because she believes his past is linked to hers. She says she thinks they can work better together than alone, but Marlena tell her that she has Bo to help her. "Hope" says that Bo has made very little progress.
John tries to ease the tension and suggests that they all finish off the bottle of champagne. They all sit down and start telling jokes. "Hope" tells Marlena and Roman that it's so nice to see them so friendly. Roman says their children bond them. "Hope" says that is the same with her and Bo.
Marlena says she sounds like someone who isn't getting back together with Bo? "Hope," says she wants to be with Bo, but can't get past the hurt. They all tell her that they know she and Bo will find a way to work it out and get back together. Marlena decides that it is time to go. John offers "Hope" a lift, but she decides to stay. Marlena tells Bo that she is worried about "Hope," she definitely needs therapy.
At the bar, Gina is ecstatic that John remembered loving her, and he would have acted on those feelings if the Doc hadn't shown up. She decides that she has to find a way to get rid of her.
4/22 At the Tuscany bar, Hope is about to light up, with Bo watching on. The bartender informs her there is no smoking, so she puts her cigarettes away just as Bo walks up. Bo tells her that he just dropped Billie off, and Hope wonders how the she is doing. Bo is leery of Hope's motives, but she explains to Bo that she wants no hard feelings between them and Billie and would like to start with a clean slate.
She reminds him that Billie was once her best friend. Bo is now confused, because Hope can forgive Billie, but not Bo. He tells her that he has known her his whole life but right now she is a stranger to him and it is scaring the hell out of him. Hee agrees that she needs professional help. He suggests to Hope that she see Marlena, and Hope decides that is a great idea.
At the penthouse, Marlena is upset at Hope's behavior towards John. John tries to reassure her, but Marlena does not want what happened to Bo and Hope to happen to them. Marlena is concerned about Hope's behavior, especially since she seems to be immersing herself into Gina's life.
She doesn’t understand why Hope is feeling to connected to him, he never knew her as Gina. He knew the real Princess Gina, not Hope as Gina. He muses that Hope is so like Gina. Marlena discourages him from pursuing these memories as Hope is obviously connecting to him as Gina and she wants to pick up from where Gina left off. She lets him know that might cause him and Marlena some problems.
4/23 Bo and Hope visit with Marlena and John at Marlena's penthouse and Hope stuns everyone by announcing that she has agreed to go into therapy with Marlena. Marlena is pleased to hear this. John again says that he and Hope are trying to find out about their past and that they share a common memory.
Marlena counters that they do not know if the memory is real, but Hope says it is. Hope then suggests that Marlena hypnotize John with Bo and Hope there. Hope continues saying that having her there may trigger another memory. John looks to Marlena, who is leery, but says okay. Hope thinks to herself that tonight is the night John will remember their love.
4/26 At the penthouse, Marlena hypnotized John, and he remembered giving Gina the compact with a “G” on it. Gina believed that once John saw the compact, all his memories would return. However, John couldn't see the compact because the box lid reflected light in John's face. The light caused him pain, and he grimaced. Gina shouted, "No, John, not again!"
4/27 John left the session with a severe migraine, so "Hope" massaged his temples. Marlena asked her what she thought she was doing? "Hope" said she was trying to help John. John said it was helping. Marlena asked John if he was all right. John said he was. Bo asked "Hope" why she had said, "No, not again." "Hope" said she had run into John earlier when he'd had a migraine, and massaging his temples had helped.
Marlena became concerned and wanted to have John checked out, and she said there would be no more hypnosis until then. "Hope" begged John not to stop, not when he was on the verge of a breakthrough. "Hope" asked John if he had seen Gina's gift, but John said he hadn't. "Hope" asked Marlena to hypnotize John again, but Marlena refused until John got checked out. Bo and "Hope" decided to leave for the night and hoped John felt better.
Bo and "Hope" took a walk, and Bo asked "Hope" if she knew what the gift was. "Hope" told him that she didn't. Bo asked "Hope" if she thought John and Gina had been lovers. "Hope" said that was impossible because he had been a priest. "Hope" then remembered spending time with John and talking about how "Father John" was a fraud. Gina had told John that she longed for the day when they could to stop pretending and could be together all the time.
Bo snapped "Hope" to and asked her what was wrong. "Hope" said that it had just been an emotional night. "Hope" told Bo that she felt like they were on the verge of a breakthrough. They had to convince Marlena to hypnotize John again. Bo didn't think that would happen. Gina told herself that she didn't need Marlena. She needed the compact. She thought that when he saw it, John would remember everything.
4/28 Bo and "Hope" were in Salem Place. "Hope" was very worried about John, but Bo told her that Marlena could take care of John as she was a doctor, after all. "Hope" decided to go home, but Bo said they should get a cup of coffee. They sat down, and Bo started talking about how nobody had recognized John in Capri.
Meanwhile, Lucille and Lili were fighting about Gina staying with them. They ran into Bo and "Hope," and Bo asked them to sit and join them. Bo mentioned Capri to Lili, and she said that she never remembered Gina spending time in Capri. Bo started asking Lili about when her art had been stolen. Lili told him that January 15, 1992, was the day, and she said she was thankful that Gina had been there for her.
"Hope" turned pale, and Bo asked her if she was okay. "Hope" said that she didn't like seeing Lili get worked up over it. Bo got a call from his Italian inspector pal and learned that the theft dates didn't coincide with the art thefts. Lili didn't understand. Bo told her that there was a possibility that Gina could have been involved with the art thefts.
"Hope" told Bo that she had had it with the investigation. She wished he would drop it. She then stood up and stomped off. Lili told Bo that Gina had been like a daughter to her, and she knew that Gina had not been involved in a life of crime. Bo hoped she was right but was going to continue with the investigation. Meanwhile, Gina realized how close Bo was getting to the truth and that she had to find a way to stop him.
4/29 As Gina worked on another stolen painting, she explained to Stefano that if the paintings were found, he could go to prison for life. Since she had finished the last of the copies, Stefano determined that they could move to the next phase of his plan, to steal the last Renet. Gina used the opportunity to tell Stefano that they could use John's help. No, Stefano said. John could not return because the chip in his brain was not as sophisticated, and all the memories had been wiped out. Gina thought to herself that John would remember.
Running into Bo at the Brady Pub, Roman explained to him and Billie that he thought the person involved with the art heist was someone on the inside who'd had access to the wealthy people on a social level. Bo admitted that he thought that Gina had been involved with the stolen paintings because of Stefano, and Billie agreed. Roman also told Bo that Lili Faversham had told him a different story of who had been with her the night that her masterpieces had been stolen, and she had not mentioned that Gina had been there. Bo chalked it up to Lili's failing memory.
4/30 At Lili's, Gina was trying to get Lili to stop hoping that the authorities would capture whoever had stolen her paintings. Lili was shocked to hear Gina say that, and Gina covered, saying the whole thing had been so traumatic for Lili, she just did not want the poor woman to be disappointed all over again. Gina said that Bo would not be able to catch the thief, after so many years and the fact that no one from the European police or the ISA had been able to either.
At the Horton kitchen, Bo told Greta that Gina could be a victim of Stefano's. Greta wondered if Stefano might have gotten rid of her mother. Greta, after hearing what Bo had to say about the art thefts, wondered if her mother might have been involved. Bo did not think so, because Gina was a princess with lots of money. The conversation turned again to Hope, and Bo was frustrated about her moodiness.
Bo surprised Vivian with flowers and asked for a moment to talk with her.
Alone, Gina lit up a cigarette and wondered how to get the compact back when the doorbell rang. Thinking it was Lili, she answered but was surprised to see Greta. Greta entered and asked "Hope" why she kept pushing Bo away. However, Gina was too preoccupied, staring at the lit cigarette she had not put out.
5/3 Bo continues his visit with Vivian and explains that he wants to bring down Stefano but needs her help. She is a bit leery at first and questions him further. He tells her that he is pretty sure that Stefano is responsible for her condition. Bo tells her that he knows that she doesn't really love Stefano and that Victor is the true love of her life. She admits this and becomes a bit misty.
Bo offers his assistance. He wants to join forces with her and if she will help him with Stefano, he will help her destroy Kate. He explains that they can kill a whole flock of birds with one stone. He asks her, are you in? She wants to know just what he wants. He explains he wants an "in" to Stefano's world and she can provide that.
They talk about the relationship between Hope and Stefano and Vivian & Celeste both agree that they have been "thick as thieves" lately and how odd their relationship is. Again, Bo asks her for her help.
She asks for a few moments alone with Celeste and asks her what to do. Celeste tells her she is in deep enough with Stefano now, don't take him on any further. Vivian thanks her for her advice, but ignores it. She tells Bo that they have a deal and they shake on it. Bo is thrilled, he says that they will make a great team and they will destroy DiMera once and for all.
Greta barges her way in at Lilly's wanting to know what is wrong with “Hope”? She sees the cigarette in the ashtray and says that the only person she knew who smoked that brand was her mother. "Hope" covers and blames Lucille. She questions her about why she has been hanging around John and the way she acts.
"Hope" says she is curious to find out if Gina and John were more than just friends. Greta says but he was a priest. Hope snaps back and says he wasn't. When Greta questions her, she covers and says that with Stefano involved, anything is possible.
“Hope” tells her that they are running out of time that John and Marlena will be married soon and he needs his peace of mind. Greta tells her that all of this is making Dr. Evans very uncomfortable and uneasy, especially the terrible headaches he is having. Greta points out that she has good reason to be afraid of him. She also tells her that Marlena is concerned about Hope's actions around John, the way she talks, acts, etc. She denies any wrong doing and she says that they are just friends.
Seeing how close Greta is, Hope quickly changes the subject to Bo. Greta tells her that he loves her and asks her if she plans on torturing him forever. Hope shocks her and asks why, do you want him? She tells her that Bo is her friend and has been kind to her, he just hates seeing him in pain and wants to help him.
“Hope” tells her that she has something of hers and she wants it back. Greta tries to play dumb, but Hope tells her that she knows she stole the compact from her purse in the Bayou and she wants it back, she NEEDS that compact.
5/4 “Hope” is questioning Greta about the compact. She says she knows that she took if from her in the Bayou. Greta tells her she buried it and when she went back it was gone. Hope wonders if it is still in the Bayou but Greta tells her it is gone, that she will never find it. “But I have to find it. I need it to help me with my past.” shouts Hope. She asks Greta if she knows who gave it to her?
Greta has a flashback of her talking to her mom about it. All that she was told was that it came from a very special friend. It will help John remember the past. "Hope" says she can always tell when her daughter is keeping things from her. Greta has made it to Salem Place and calls Billie and asks her to meet her there in a few minutes.
In the meantime, Hope says she was to follow Greta and see where she went and as she opens the door she about runs into John who is standing in the doorway.
5/5 "Hope" is on her way out and tries to brush John off. He asks her if she is keeping secrets from him? "Hope" says she's not, she's just looking for Greta. John tells her that he needs to talk to her about his past. John says he is determined to remember his past, but Marlena won't hypnotize him anymore.
"Hope" tells him that she believes if they can find the gift and he can hold it, his memory will come back to him. "Hope" tells him that the gift could turn up, she did have many of Gina's possessions at Maison Blanche. When she mentions some of her things, John remembers the silver compact.
"Hope" says "than you do remember it!" John tells her no, he only remembers her talking about losing it last summer. "Hope" says she is very determined to get it back and says she thinks he gave it to her. She suggests that maybe he and Gina were more than friends, but John says it never could have gone beyond friendship because he was a priest. "Hope" tells John that she has to go, but makes him promise not to give up his search for "their" pasts, which they can do together.
Greta hates lying to her good friend “Hope” about the compact. Billie tells Greta that "Hope" is not worthy of her friendship considering what she's doing to Bo, stringing him along and building up his hope just so she can reject him. Billie swears that Princess Gina will never get her hands on this compact, not as long as she is alive.
Later, Gina walks around talking to herself, she knows Greta is lying to her about the compact. She then spots Greta with Billie.
5/7 At Salem Place, Billie is relieved when Greta assures her that she won't tell Hope about the engraved
compact.
As they talk, Hope spots them together and realizes that Billie is holding the missing compact. She runs into Bo, who has some news. He is going to solve the mystery of Hope's past by finding out what DiMera did during those years. Bo tells her what he's pieced together about Gina being an artist and a member of high society and that Stefano must be behind the art thefts. "Gina" is nervous that Bo is close to the truth and tries to talk him out of it, but he is persistent.
Figuring that she can't do anything about Bo, she tells him that she's going to see Billie and Greta. The foursome begin talking and Hope plays on their feelings by moaning that without any real evidence that once belonged to Gina, she'll never get her memory back and live a regular life. Greta is torn and Billie can't wait to get out of there. She takes off, but Hope follows and gets Billie to commit to having lunch the next day. Meanwhile, Bo laments to Greta that Hope is acting strange.
5/10 Gina, who is blowing smoke rings, is preparing to get her compact from Billie to trigger John's memory. Lilly sees Gina smiling and asks what has made her so happy? Gina tells Lilly that she has the compact back, a duplicate actually, and soon she'll be back in Europe to reclaim her life with . . . Lilly asks who and Gina says with her of course.
John is wandering around Salem Place having doubts about whether he was a priest or not. John is suddenly hit with a migraine. Stefano, who is in Salem Place as well, tells John that he isn't looking well and asks him what is wrong? John says he is just having pains, which are none of his damn business. Stefano tells him that his discomfort is probably due to his search for his past. Stefano asks him if he's trying to remember his time as a priest? John asks Stefano if he really was a priest, or just brainwashed into thinking he was one?
Stefano laughs and tells John that he gives him too much credit. Still, John asks what a priest would be doing jetting all over Europe and hanging out with rich aristocrats, like Princess Gina. Stefano tells John he is being ridiculous, but John says he and "Hope" are piecing their pasts together.
Stefano asks him what his past has to do with "Hope's?" John says it was "Hope" who put the idea in his brain. John says that he and "Hope" believe that their pasts are connected, and Marlena is helping them recover their pasts. Stefano warns John that he and Marlena may not be able to live with what he finds out.
"Hope" shows up and asks what is wrong? Gina turns pale when John tells her that he told Stefano about her theory that he wasn't a priest. Stefano asks "Hope" how she came up with such a ridiculous idea? "Hope" doesn't answer and Stefano suggests that John concentrate on the here and now. John excuses himself to go get Brady some medicine. Stefano asks Gina why the hells she put the idea that John wasn't a priest in his mind?
Gina tells him that she's only acting like Hope, but Stefano tells her that her choices could backfire and blow up in her face. Stefano tells Gina that remembering his past will cause John's headaches to worsen, and possible even kill him. He tells Gina that she must convince John to stop the hypnosis. Meanwhile, John continues to have migraines as he tries to see what the gift Gina gave him was.
5/11 Stefano and Rolfe are at the townhouse replacing the paintings with the duplicates, Gina only has a few more paintings to duplicate.
John is looking at the picture of himself he got from Lilly and it triggers more migraines. Bo shows up to see John, who tells him about his headaches. John tells Bo about his run-in with Stefano, and then "Hope" in Salem Place. Bo tells John that something odd is going on with "Hope," she's been acting like she's Billie's best friend lately. John says that is odd.
They then talk about John's past, and John says that his life as a priest may have been a front invented by DiMera. Bo asks if "Hope" suggested this? John says yes, and he knows that she is doing it because their pasts may be tied together. John says he and "Hope" have to learn the truth, but they are constantly hitting brick walls. Bo tells John that he knows someone who has agreed to help them, Vivian! John responds with a look of confusion.
Bo explains to him that Vivian still loves Victor and has offered to help them if he helps her get close to Victor again. John says that won't be easy, but Bo is positive that he can pull it off. Bo then calls Vivian to get the show on the road. Bo suggests they meet today, so Vivian suggests they meet at the townhouse. Bo tells John that he hopes he feels better and will be in touch. Back at the DiMera mansion, just as Vivian says she is about to get exactly what she wants, Stefano walks into the room.
Gina is at a restaurant waiting for Billie, who is late. Billie shows up and knows that "Hope" wants her compact back, but Billie vows that "Hope" won't get her hands on it. Billie asks "Hope" what she wants from her? "Hope" says that she just wants her friendship back. "Hope" tells Billie about an amazing discovery she has made, and wants to share it with her.
"Hope" gets a call, it's from Stefano, so she shuts her phone off to talk with Billie. "Hope" tells Billie that she's found how liberating living on your own is. She then tells Billie that she's glad Roman is in her life. Billie says her heart will always belong to Bo, and she would never push him away like she is doing. "Hope" says she has to discover her past first, but Billie says that sounds like an excuse. "Hope" then starts sobbing about the compact.
Billie suggests that she try looking at paintings Gina liked to trigger her memory. "Hope" thanks her and says that is a very clever suggestion. "Hope" then says she'd like to do something to remember Georgia, maybe a small memorial service. "Hope" says that she wants her and Bo to be close again, just so she can be there for Bo if she was ever to leave. Billie asks if she is leaving, and "Hope" says she might go to Europe to search for her past on her own.
Later, Billie asks "Hope" once again why she invited her to lunch? "Hope" says she has no hidden agenda, she feels like there is no one in Salem that she can open up to except for her. "Hope" asks Billie if they can put the past behind them and start over? Billie agrees, and then "Hope" suggests they take a walk. Gina has a special surprise for Billie.
5/12 Bo looks arrives at Jonsey's place and decides to take a look around. He impressed by Vivian's collection and realizes that DiMera probably married her to get his hands on this stuff, but there has to be more to it. He tells himself that Stefano changed Hope into Gina for a reason, and wonders if it was to recreate his lover. Bo wonders what Stefano made Hope do for him as Gina. He then begins to remember the good ole days with Hope. He says there will never be another woman for him other than Hope.
Vivian and Celeste show up and tries to warn Vivian to reconsider going up against Stefano. Vivian refuses and tells Celeste to go if she won't be supportive. Celeste leaves. Bo asks Vivian if Jonsey was connected to DiMera somehow, and she tells him he was. Vivian says this all belongs to Stefano, and he wants it back, which is why he married her. Bo tells Vivian that he thinks Stefano might be involved in some art thefts in Europe, and that he used Hope to get close to the rich and famous, like Lilly Faversham.
Vivian chuckles and says Lilly isn't playing with a full deck. They both realize that there is something in this house that Stefano is protecting. Bo suspects that Stefano is after the paintings for some reason, and has a plan. He tells her to give away the paintings!
Nicholas is walking around the docks, and at the same time, Gina and Billie are on the docks having some lemon ice. Billie asks "Hope" why she is all of the sudden so nice to her? "Hope" once again says she wants to be friends again and have fun. Billie says that the hurt and pain from losing her baby won't go away. "Hope" says she knows that, and she also knows how deeply Bo cares for her and grieves over their child.
"Hope" says there has to be a way they can bond again and get back what they lost. Billie says she thought about this was about them? Is she saying that she should get close to Bo again? Suddenly, Nikki recognizes Princess Gina. "Hope" says she doesn't mean she wants her to go after Bo, she just wants them to morn Georgia's loss together. Billie asks "Hope" why she's bringing back these memories? Meanwhile, Nikki says that Gina won't get away from him this time.
Meanwhile, as Billie cries, "Hope" gives her a handkerchief with a "G" embroidered on it. "Hope" asks Billie how she came up with the name Georgia? Billie tells her that Earl was playing it when Georgia died. "Hope" says she wishes Billie had something to remind her of Georgia. Suddenly, "Hope" is knocked out by a man and Billie's purse is stolen! Nikki comes to their rescue, and Billie's purse goes plop, right into the Salem River, with the compact!
5/13 On the docks, Nikki wrestles with "Hope" and Billie's mugger and they both watch in horror as the compact, which is in Billie's purse, sinks to the bottom of the river. Nikki helps them up, and "Hope" asks him what he thinks he's doing? Nikki says that he was only trying to help.
When Nikki decides to call the police, but "Hope" tells him not to because it would be a waste of time. Nikki tells Gina that she remembers him, doesn't she? "Hope" says she doesn't know him, but Nikki says she is Princess Gina! "Hope" says he is wrong, and goes to help Billie, who wants to go after her purse. "Hope" asks what is so important about her purse?
Billie says that she had the one and only reminder of Georgia in that purse. Billie leaves to be alone and Gina tells the mugger that he ruined everything! The mugger asks her who the guy was, he seemed to know her. Gina says that she doesn't know, and warns him to get out of Salem now! Billie goes off to be alone and Gina puts on a diving suit and jumps into the river.
At the townhouse, Bo tells Vivian that she should give away her paintings. Vivian doesn't understand how doing that would force Stefano's hand. Vivian says that this could kill her before her time is up, but Bo says the gamble would be worth it if she got to make up with Victor. Bo assures Vivian that Stefano will stop her from giving the paintings away if they are what he is protecting.
Vivian eventually agrees and says she has the perfect way to pull of his plan. Vivian says she will throw a grand party and will give all her paintings away there. She also tells Bo that she wants a guarantee that Victor will be there. Bo can't make that guarantee. Vivian then ups the deal, she wants Kate at the party as well. Bo says he can only promise to do his best. Vivian is pleased and decides to go home so Stefano will stop wondering about her. After she leaves, Bo calls Victor.
Dvd #38B 5/14 Gina emerges from the Salem River with the compact. She remembers John telling her how he could never live without her, and she thinks he won't have to any longer now that she has the compact back.
In Salem Place, John sees a picture which triggers a memory about the gift he gave Gina, which triggers another headache. John thinks about "Hope" massaging his temples and wonders how she knew how to do that. John then remembers how Gina was the only one who could make his headaches go away. "Hope" finds John and tells him that she has something important to show him, but it has to be somewhere private.
John gives her a look and "Hope" asks if he's afraid to be alone with her? He says no, he just has a lot on her mind. He says he's been thinking about the gift he gave Gina lately. He says that Gina and John were very good friends, and that the gift must have been just a token of their friendship. "Hope" says what if it wasn't?
What if it was something special, something unique? "Hope" spaces off for a bit and John gets a call from a business associate. He excuses himself to talk and Gina looks at the compact and says John has to remember. John tells "Hope" that he has to take care of something, and he can meet her here in one hour.
5/18 Gina is looking at the compact and is positive it will trigger John's memory. John shows up and asks "Hope" what it is that she wanted to show him? Before she can show him the compact, Billie shows up and asks what they are doing out here? "Hope" hides the compact and tells Billie that she didn't know they needed a reason, it's just so beautiful out. Billie says that she didn't expect to see her out late after being mugged.
John is shocked and asks if they talked to the police? Billie says she talked to Bo, and he wants to talk to them both. "Hope" says that it is a waste of time and the tax prayers money. John offers to drive Billie home, since she is so upset about her purse, but Billie says she will be okay. Billie leaves and John asks "Hope" where they were? "Hope" suggests they sit down, but then tells herself that perhaps this isn't the best time to show John the compact. She suggests they go get a cappuccino.
Later, Gina remembers one of her and John's missions and how John was shocked when she pulled out his compact to fix her face. John returns with some cappuccino and has a terrible migraine. "Hope" helps him get over it and asks if the headaches are getting worse? John says no, they've just been occurring more frequently. John says that it seems his search for the past is causing these headaches, but he's not going to give up his search for his past.
When John jokes that nobody lives forever, "Hope" says "Don't say that, I don't know what I'd do without you!" She then covers and says she means without his help searching for her past. She then remembers Stefano warning her that John could actually die if he keeps searching into his past. When John asks what she wanted to tell him, "Hope" tells him that she just wanted to tell him about a memory she had of them. "Hope" tells John that she better get back home, but she drops her compact and John picks it up and tells her that she dropped something.
5/19 "Hope" drops her compact and John picks it up and gives it back to her. John asks if it is what she wanted to show her? Is it her missing compact? Gina tells herself that she wants John to see it, but remembering could kill him. John tells "Hope" to give it to him, he wants to see it. "Hope" says it's not the compact, it's a duplicate she had made to try to trigger her memory.
John asks if it worked, but she says no. John wants to try, but "Hope" tells him that it is too dangerous and something terrible could happen. John demands that she hand him the compact. She eventually gives it to him and he studies it. Unfortunately, John doesn't remember it, and doesn't think it is what he gave to Gina. She asks if he remembers Gina using it, and he says no.
However, he asks her if she does, and she says yes. Gina remembers when she had to use the compact to fix her face because John's kisses smeared her lipstick. "Hope" tells him about the memory, but leaves out the kissing part. John remembers seeing Gina using it to put on lipstick, but he doesn't remember much else. "Hope" asks him what else he remembers about his relationship to her? He has memories of making out with Gina and becomes upset.
"Hope" tells John that she thinks he was the love of Gina's life, and he has to feel it too. John is in tears at this point, and Gina wipes them from his face. John studies the compact further, "Hope" tells him to open it and look into the mirror. John does it and "Hope" tells him to see the face of the woman he once loved. John begins to remember more and more about Gina. He looks at "Hope," and sees Gina and remembers kissing her. Gina pulls him in close and kisses him in the present!
5/20 In the park, John is looking at the compact and Gina is asking him what he remembers. John flashes back to his kissing scene with Gina, and dancing with Gina and laughing with Gina and he tells Gina that his heart belongs to Gina. The two kiss. She is ecstatic and says that he does remember. John comes out of his reverie and says that Gina is dead and in the past. He loves Marlena and the kids. Gina says No, she's not dead.
When John looks at her, she covers saying that Stefano programmed her for those four years. Gina continues saying that her lips are the same ones that John used to kiss and her body is the same one he could never get enough of. John is shocked to hear this and yells at Hope that Gina is dead. He is going to marry Marlena because his future is with her.
Bo knocks on Victor's door and apologizes to his father for not visiting more often. Victor wonders what is up. Bo starts out saying that he can't forgive Kate for hiring Franco to break up him and Hope. Victor says that was a long time ago, but Bo says that Hope still feels betrayed.
Bo starts to steer the conversation toward Vivian, saying that his and Vivian's plans are inter-twined. Bo asks if Victor could ever see his way clear to forgiving Vivian. Victor is adamant that he never wants to see that woman again. Bo, knowing that Vivian won't help him, tells his father that if he wants to prove his love for Bo, he will do this one thing for him: attend Vivian's party.
At the townhouse, Stefano is upset to see that Gina hasn't accomplished anymore painting. Rolf suggests that she might be with John, but Stefano thinks he put a stop to that. Stefano tells John what he told her about John dying if he tries to remember the past. Later the two discuss Vivian and Nicholas. Stefano wonders what he is after. Rolf suggests he came to Salem to get what his aunt is leaving to him in her will, but Stefano says there is something more that he wants.
5/21 At the nursing facility, Bo is still pleading with Victor to go to the party. He goes through the whole history of Stefano turning Hope into Gina and all the bad things that she did for him. He relents and tells his father of his alliance with Vivian and Victor tells him he's made a deal with the devil. Bo says that it is just a couple hours, but Victor counters saying that Vivian won't be happy with just those hours, she'll want more and more.
Bo sighs and says to brush her off after that, but to please make the appearance. Victor decides to go to the party, but he's bringing Kate. Bo is thankful and calls Vivian with the good news. Nicholas answers the phone and tells Vivian it is the "caterer" as Stefano is still in the room. Bo is surprised to learn from Vivian that Nicholas is in town, but tells her that Victor and Kate will be there and asserts that the "ball is in her court now."
Gina's reverie is disturbed by Rolf. Rolf says she looks sad, and she covers by saying she's going to miss the masterpiece that she's painting over. She then recalls being held at gunpoint with the stolen masterpiece, but John saves her and the two dash off.
Back in reality, Gina tells Rolf that she wants John back in her life but the scientist claims that it is impossible. Gina wants to know if what Stefano told her about the headaches is true, he’ll die if they continue. Rolf confirms it and says that even if John stop looking into his past, he'll always have the headaches. The only way to get rid of the headaches is for the suppression device in his brain to be deactivated. But that would mean that John would turn back into the person Stefano programmed him to be and Rolf won't cross Stefano. He leaves, and Gina says that it must be done.
5/24 Bo shows up to see "Hope" with roses in hand. "Hope" was hoping it was John, and is disappointed that it is Bo. Bo and "Hope" talk about her missing past and how her past does not overlap with John's. As Gina thinks about the compact, Bo asks her what "that" is doing here? "Hope" asks what? and Bo sees her cigarette in the ash tray. "Hope" says that it is Lucille's cigarette, but Bo is suspicious. "Hope" asks Bo if he came here to upset her? Bo says he didn't come here to upset her, why would he bring her roses?
Bo tells "Hope" that he loves her and it is natural to him as breathing. "Hope" tells him that nobody understands what she is going through. As she thinks about John, she kisses Bo, thinking he is John, but then quickly backs away. Bo vows to get Stefano for doing this to her, but "Hope" tells him that she's sick of him using Stefano as an excuse. Bo asks "Hope" why she is so rattled? "Hope" tells Bo that what they had is over, he needs to move on with his life. "Hope" says she is tired of fighting with him, but he refuses to stop fighting for him because he does not believe this is "Hope" talking.
5/25 Bo and "Hope" continue to argue. "Hope" accuses Bo of being threatened by her independence, but Bo says the "Hope" he fell in love with was very independent. He doesn't know what Stefano has done to her, but vows to get his "Hope" back. They begin to argue about their problems, "Hope" says their troubles started because of Billie, but Bo says it started when Stefano transformed her into this Gina person.
When Bo says lately she seems like she would rather be Gina, "Hope" says she would prefer to be Gina! Bo eventually leaves and vows to himself that he will fight for their love. Meanwhile, Gina gets a call from John, who tells her that he and Marlena are marrying tomorrow. Gina slams the phone down and says she will NOT let that happen!
5/26 John wakes up with a splitting headache at midnight, and he wonders where Marlena is. Bo shows up and John fills him in on Sami's escape and how he's waiting for Marlena. Bo tells John that he has news, good news. Bo tells him that they are going to get the answers they've been looking for. Bo tells him about the townhouse and the paintings, but John says he is giving up the search for his past. John says he is marrying Marlena tomorrow and will be content. Bo says he can't wait to tell "Hope," but John says he already did. Bo asks if she was happy? John says he doesn't know, she hung up on him! John says that he thinks "Hope" was already mad at him for telling her that he wanted to stop searching for his past.
John then talks to Bo about "Hope's" obsession with his searching for his past. John says that "Hope" seems to be more focused on him remembering the past, and he became very confused as to who "Hope" even was, she was so much like Gina tonight! John says that he thinks "Hope" is experiencing Gina's feelings for him. Bo is stunned, naturally. However, John doesn't want Marlena to know this, he says all that matters is that he loves Marlena now. John says that "Hope" is becoming desperate and tells him about the compact, and how he is getting scared by her persistance. Bo tells John that is why Vivian's party is so damn important.
Gina shows up to see Rolfe and tells him that he will do something for her and he will do it now. Rolfe is insulted and says that he doesn't take orders from her! Gina says true, but he does work for Steffie and he would be interested in a mistake he made in Milano some years ago. Rolfe flashes back to when he was in bed with a woman, who was pumping him for information on Stefano. Gina suddenly burst into the room, slugs the woman, and takes her tape recorder. Gina tells him that the woman is an ISA agent! Rolfe begs her not to tells Stefano, and Gina tells him that he's indebted to him.
Return to the present, Gina tells Rolfe that she wants to collect on the debt. Rolfe asks her what she wants, and she says she wants the old John back. Rolfe says that he will become a trained mercenary again, but Gina says that it is the only way to save him from his direct headaches. When Rolfe refuses to go against Stefano, Gina threatens to have a chat with Stefano. Gina tells Rolfe that she wants John back, tonight!
5/27 The countdown to midnight continues. Current Salem time is 1:00am.
In the lab, Gina demands that Rolf turn John back into her partner or else she will tell Steffie that Rolf almost betrayed him years ago. Rolf begins to wonder just what her relationship to John is, but Gina does not admit anything. All she says is that John cannot marry Marlena, and she wants the old John back. She tells him to start preparing the transformation and leaves. Rolf begins to worry that this Gina is more devious and mean than the old Princess Gina.
At the penthouse, John and Bo are discussing Hope. Bo tells John that Hope is obsessed with John, and he can't figure out why. John was not even in Salem at the time Hope was Princess Gina. John tells him it does not matter, he's done searching for his past. Marlena comes home, stunned. John immediately senses something is wrong and Doc sobs that Sami is going to be executed at midnight. John and Bo are stunned as well. Bo leaves to talk to
"Hope".
At Lili's, Bo tells Hope about Sami's situation. She's concerned about Sami but is pleased to learn that John and Marlena will not be getting married. "Hope" wants to call John to offer her support, but Bo takes the phone away and says she is the last person John wants to talk to right now. As "Hope" continues to wonder about John and Marlena's wedding, Bo tells her to stop obsessing and leaves. Outside, he wonder what has happened to his Fancy Face, while Gina wonders how she can use this turn of events to her advantage.
6/2 Bo shows up at prison to see if there is any news, there isn't. The family is led to the viewing room where they will be able to view the execution. John shows up and tells the family that Marlena has asked Stefano for his help. Later, Eric hears from his dad and he tells the family that Roberto said there was no hitman, Sami killed Franco.
Sami arrives at the execution chamber and is strapped to the gurney and the needle is inserted in her arm. Everyone takes their seats in the viewing room, Marlena is praying that Stefano will come through for them. Sami's gurney is turned around so that she is facing her family. Sami is given a chance to make a final statement. Sami tells her family that she regrets that they have to watch this and she's sorry for that.
She says that she's sorry that she won't be here for them, but she hopes they know and will help her son to know that she was innocent. She tells them all that she used to think that she didn't deserve their love, but now she understands what love really means and she's sorry it took so long. She says she's finally learned how to be a better person, but it's too late. She says that the most important thing she can says is thank you, she thanks them all for believing in her and supporting her.
The clocks clicks to midnight and suddenly the warden gets a phone call. Marlena stands up, and Sami looks around. The warden hangs up the phone and tells them to proceed with the execution. The buttons are pushed, and Sami is given her lethal injection. Sami begins to have memories of playing with Eric as a child, and growing up with him and Carrie. She also remembers dancing with her dad, and Carrie and Austin dating. Later she remembers giving birth to Will and watching him grow to a five-year-old. The second drug is administered to Sami, and finally the lethal injection. As her heart monitor slows to a crawl, Lucas bursts in and screams that he killed Franco! As Sami is dying, Lucas screams his bloody head off and pounds on the glass.
6/3 It's chaos in the chamber. As the plunger with the lethal injection depresses, Lucas bursts into the viewing room and confesses to killing Franco. At the same time, the phone that is the direct line to the governor starts ringing. The warden answers the phone and informs Sami's family that they are going to stop the execution. Lucas is still ranting how he killed Franco, and an irate Austin is restrained from punching out his half-brother. They look at the third syringe and see that it is 3/4 empty. Mike begins CPR as the heart monitor shows a flat line.
Bo and John think Stefano was behind the governor's call, but Kate informs the group that Roberto made a deathbed confession. With this new information, Roman called Abe who called the governor.
At his mansion, Stefano and Gina are sharing brandies and watching the news. Stefano reveals to Gina that he never tried to help Marlena. He was concerned that helping Sami would ruin his agreement with Kate, as Sami is a mortal enemy of Kate's. However, he boasts, he's going to allow Marlena to think that he did help save Sami's life. He intends to collect on his debt in due time.
6/4 "Hope" is re-watching Bo's interview on the TV when the doorbell rings. It's Bo, who needs to be with Hope tonight. He explains how powerless he felt watching Sami being injected at the prison. He also remembers when Hope was trapped in Ernesto's cage and he couldn't do anything to help her. "Hope" says that she feels for Marlena, and Bo tells her that Marlena sold her soul to the devil (Stefano). Bo states that he doesn't believe it was Stefano who helped Sami on Marlena's behalf. In fact, he's sure he didn't do anything, but told Marlena that he did just so she would owe him.
Bo turns back to "Hope" and says that they have both changed and that he was so focused on the fact he lost his family, he didn't take anyone else's feelings into consideration. "Hope" says she too has not thought about how her investigation into her past affected him. Bo takes her into his arms and says their future is going to begin right here and now, and he kisses her passionately.
6/7 As Bo is kissing her, she flashes to kissing John and begins kissing him back passionately. Bo stops her and says that she has never kissed him like that before. "Hope" becomes upset, but Bo says that he knows Hope intimately and the way she just kissed him was definitely not Hope. She tells him that there is something wrong with him, “everything better stay the same Brady”. He admits that he has been having this feeling for months that she isn’t the woman that he loves but he has been pushing that thought away.
He can pinpoint it to the night in the snowstorm when she had the car accident. He tells her that she changed, and he isn’t just talking about her hairstyle. He tells her that she has a different personality. She begs him to see that she is still the same person and asks what she can do to convince him? She then puts her hand on his cheek and sweetly kisses him, and then asks if he believes her now?
“Hope” continues that their problems have nothing to do with John, but him sleeping with Billie. She reminds him that he broke her heart. Bo says that it just isn't any one thing, and then tells her his theory. Bo tells her that as she digs more and more into her past, she becomes Princes Gina more and more.
"Hope" says maybe they have just grown apart, but Bo doubts that. Bo says that for some slimy reason Stefano wants her for himself. "Hope" says he's always blaming Stefano, so Bo asks if he should blame John? That grabs "Hope's" attention. Bo shares that he knows she made a duplicate of the compact to try and bring John's memory back. He wants to know why John is so damn important to her and what does he mean to her?
Then asks does Princess Gina want to sleep with John? "Hope" says John is her friend, so Bo asks what about Princess Gina? "Hope" says that if she could remember being Gina she would tell him. "Hope" says Gina is not the problem, his affair with Billie is what caused all their problems. Bo doesn't understand how she can want to be friends with Billie, but still can't forgive him for sleeping with her. "Hope" gets upset with him and says he broke her heart.
Bo apologizes for upsetting her and then invites her to Vivian's farewell bash. "Hope" asks Bo why? What is he up to? Bo says he just wants to see her dressed up and having a good time with him. Bo tells her that he will call her later and says good night. Bo leaves, and says that tonight he will pay Stefano back for what he did to Hope. Back in her room, Gina fears that Bo is getting to close to the truth and says she has to get John back.
6/8 Stefano is reading the news on Sami when Gina shows up. Gina asks Stefano if he knows what Marlena needs to do to pay him back for all his troubles, but Stefano says that Marlena will not know that he did not stop the execution. Stefano hopes that Gina has come to tell him that she finished the paintings, but she says no. Stefano says they must be completed before Vivian's party at the townhouse tonight!
When Gina learns that the party is at the townhouse she tells Stefano that he must stop Vivian. Stefano asks her why she objects so strongly? Is it because the paintings aren't complete? Gina tells him that all she has to do is put the last finishing touches on them and tells him to relax. Gina says to herself that she can't let Stefano know she hasn't started copying the final painting. She then gets a wonderful idea how to keep Stefano's mind off of the paintings.
Meanwhile, Stefano tells her that she needs to be careful when switching the final painting tonight. Gina decides to take his mind off of the paintings and asks him to bring John back. Stefano says no way, what would he gain from it? Gina answers "everything!" Stefano tells her not to even bother, it is a losing battle. Gina tells him that John is a walking time bomb right now with Marlena hypnotizing him, and there is his upcoming marriage to Marlena.
She asks him if he really wants to lose his precious Marlena forever? She knows his feelings for her haven't changed, just been put on hold. She says if he brings back John, Marlena will be left alone and vulnerable. Stefano tells Gina that he can not bring John back, ever! He says their focus needs to be on the paintings. He tells Gina to get over to the townhouse and paint! Gina says she will, and then she leaves. After she is gone, Gina tells herself that she has something far more important to take care of instead of painting.
Marlena receives a visit from "Hope." "Hope" says she thinks it is time that they cleared the air.
Bo shows up at Vivian’s townhouse, which he thinks holds the answers to what happened to Hope. He is shocked to see Nikki, who prefers to be called Nicholas now. Bo tells Vivian that he invited Hope, but told her nothing about the party. Bo leaves to check on the caterers. Vivian then spots Bo looking at one of her paintings and she asks him what he is doing? Bo says that it looked like it was hanging crooked and thought it was hanging over a safe.
When Bo talks about Stefano controlling Hope, Vivian says that tonight she will be the one in control. Vivian tells them her plans, she is going to gather everyone around her and tell her dear dear friends that she is giving away her paintings tonight instead of after she dies! She then proposes a toast to Stefano and Kate's demise tonight. Bo says he has to go, and tells Vivian to rest up.
6/9 "Hope" says she is there to talk to her about Stefano about trying to save Sami. She says that she understands why she did it, but now she and John are in debt to Stefano. Marlena says that she and John will deal with Stefano, it will not consume them or delay their wedding plans. "Hope" tells Marlena that she must be very pleased. Marlena says she is, but she senses that she isn't. "Hope" says that she is envious because she and Bo are drifting further apart.
Marlena tells her that is her fault, and she doesn't believe the Billie excuse. Marlena says Billie is not coming between her and Bo, John is. "Hope" asks Marlena if that is what she said to Roman when she slept with John? Marlena tells "Hope" that she came to terms with the Billie situation months ago, but now she is suddenly obsessed with John.
"Hope" tells Doc not to psychoanalyze her, her past is tied to John's. Marlena says that John's past with the real Gina has nothing to do with her. "Hope" tells Marlena that it has everything to do with her! Marlena tells her that she was a robot and was programmed with memories of John, who happens not to care about the past anymore. She tells her that John has moved on and is committed to his family and her now.
Stefano tells John to stop speaking for Marlena, she is a woman who can make her own choices and speak for herself. John refuses to allow him to control her like he did him and Hope. Stefano asks John why he has to compare everything, each situation is unique. John grabs Stefano by the throat and tells him that there won't be a situation, because he will be dead! Stefano tells John "at ease!" and John lets go because he's hit with a migraine. He is then flooded with images of being trained as a mercenary by Stefano. We see him fighting another man to the death in a dungeon. Just as John is about to kill the man, he stops when Stefano yells out "at ease!"
Back in the present, Stefano asks John if he is okay? John repeats what Stefano told him in the memory, "prepare to fight or die!" Stefano's eyes widen. John begins to laugh and tells Stefano that his days of controlling people's lives are over. Stefano tells John that he gives him to much credit, he has no control over people's lives.
John tells Stefano that he worked for him a lot longer than he thought, and he knows he was never a priest. John says he remembers being his mercenary and remembers more and more every single day. John tells Stefano that the day when he can put him away will be here very soon.
John walks out of the mansion and Stefano makes a call to Gina, who is still arguing with Marlena. Stefano tells Gina that he must see her immediately in the basement of the townhouse in twenty minutes.
Back at the penthouse, Gina tells Marlena that Shawn D was on the phone and she has to go buy him a gift. She wonders what could be wrong, Stefano sounded awfully upset.
At the townhouse, Gina slips in through the secret entrance in the basement and sets the studio up to make it look like she has finished the paintings. Stefano shows up and tells Gina that he had a visit from John, who is remembering more of his past. Gina tells him that she warned him of this. Stefano says he has no choice but to bring back the old John to keep him under control.
6/10 Bo and Greta show up at the townhouse and Bo tells her about the party. He says that if everything goes as planned tonight, they will know why Princess Gina was so important to Stefano. He explains to Greta the entire story of the townhouse and Vivian, and how Stefano owns it and everything in it. He then tells her about Vivian's surprise give away tonight.
Greta asks Bo how he thinks her mother is connected to all of this? Bo says that Princess Gina and Stefano are both linked to the art world. Bo thinks that Stefano has some stolen paintings, but not the ones in this townhouse. He says that for some reason Stefano is desperate to hold onto these. Greta looks at one of the paintings and exclaims "Oh my God Bo, look at this painting!" Bo asks what about it?
Greta says that the brush strokes and technique match those of her mother's. Bo says there is no signature and nothing on the back, but Greta swears this is her mother's work. Bo says that they know her mother never sold anything, but Greta says maybe it was a gift. Still, Bo doesn't understand why they would be important to
Stefano.
In the basement of the townhouse, Stefano says that he is thinking of bringing back the old John because he is becoming a risk. Gina is delighted and says he's finally getting the picture. Stefano asks Gina why she wants the old John back so badly? Is there something she is not telling him? Gina says that she is just concerned about John remembering the past. Gina says they also need to stop John and Marlena's wedding. She tells him that they need the old John back on their side again.
Stefano says that he has to give it more thought, but right now he has to focus on Vivian's party. Stefano thinks that all his masterpieces are finished. What he doesn't know is that Gina hasn't finished the paintings! One is still left upstairs. Stefano asks Gina if something is wrong? Gina says of course not, its not like anyone going to be taking paintings off the wall tonight.
Gina switches the subject and asks him about Vivian's health. Stefano says that it seems to have perked up because of Nicholas, but she will still pass on and her heirs will receive a bunch of forgeries. Stefano gives Rolfe a call and asks him to start working on bringing John back.
Meanwhile, Gina finishes one painting and has one left. Gina is happy that she is going to have John back, and remembers a romantic kiss the two shared in the past.
6/11 Stefano meets up with Rolfe, who wonders why Stefano wants John back? He asks if Gina put him up to this? Stefano asks why he would ask such a thing? Rolfe says because Gina has wanted this for some time. Stefano says that John has brought this upon himself. Rolfe doesn't think this is wise, but Stefano says he doesn't pay him to make decisions. Stefano says that he has to make sure he and Gina can share their life together. Stefano asks what if Kate finds out about the stocks? Stefano says that it doesn't matter because the stocks become his after she dies.
He tells Rolfe to concentrate on turning John back into his pawn, that is priority numero uno. Rofle says that it isn't that simple, they can't transform John with a satellite because his chip is older. Rolfe says they need John in their grasp, so Stefano says he will arrange it. Rolfe says this is far too risky, but Stefano says John is becoming too dangerous because he is remembering things. Rolfe says he will prepare things, but it will take some time.
At the townhouse, Gina hears Bo and Greta discussing the painting. Vivian and Nicholas show up and Bo tells her that something is not quite right with her painting. Greta tells Vivian that she believes her mother painted this, and it is only priceless to her. Vivian refuses to believe that. Vivian has to leave to talk to the caterers, and Gina says that Greta knows her so well. She says that she must make sure Bo never figures out what is going on, and that she must replace the painting.
Meanwhile, Bo asks Nicholas if his aunt is really dying? Nicholas says she is, his aunt is just rising to the occasion. Bo and Greta continue to look at the paintings while Nicholas tells Vivian that Bo is growing suspicious of her health. Bo talks strategy with Vivian, who says she knows how to make a scene. Gina continues to try and figure out how to get replace the painting.
The decorator then tells everyone to leave so he can make a miracle with this room. Bo and Greta leave to get ready as do Nicholas and Vivian. Once they are gone, Gina sneaks out and replaces a painting. She has one more painting to finish, but there isn't time to finish it and hopes that Steffie never finds out.
6/14 Stefano is getting ready and tells Rolf he wants to concentrate on John Black. Rolf tries to talk him out of the plan to transform John back, but he is determined. He plans on taking John and Gina with him to Europe and punishing Marlena at the same time. He is sure she will turn to him for help again and he will have her right where he wants her. He finishes getting ready and is off to the party.
We have a replay of John on the railing of the balcony. Marlena rushes to him wanting to know what he is doing. He says "what I have to do." She screams "NO" and tries to talk him down, but when he looks at her he only sees/hears Stefano. She reaches for him, but he begins to weave. She finally gets his hand and pulls him down as he grabs his head. She wants to call the hospital but he refuses. He says that the only way to defeat Stefano is with his love for her. He reminds her that they are going to Vivian's party, but she doesn't want to. He talks her into it and that he owes it to Vivian and Bo as well. As he goes upstairs to get ready, she is worried and visibly shaken by the ordeal.
At Lili's, "Hope" pours herself a drink and remembers hanging the painting at the townhouse. Lili enters and tells her about a TV special they can watch together tonight. Bo and Greta arrive and Bo is upset that she isn't ready. She tells him that she isn't going. Lili questions them about the party and she explains that Vivian is dying.
Lili seems a bit shocked by this news. Bo didn't know that they knew each other as Lili explains that they traveled in the same circles in Europe. Greta notices something on "Hope's" arm and Bo checks it out and says that it looks like paint. She lies and says that she has been trying her hand at painting, trying to remember her past since John has given up and abandoned her.
Bo says that HE will help her and in fact is working on something right now. He talks about the party and when he tells her that John will be there, she changes her tune and decides to go after all. Hope invites Lili to the party as well and she accepts. The two of them go to get ready as Bo and Greta wait. Bo confides in Greta and tells her that Hope knows nothing of his plan. He hopes to learn how she fits into all of this by her reactions as well.
Outside, John, Marlena, Bo, Hope, Greta and Lili all arrive at the same time. John and Marlena kiss as Hope bristles with jealousy. Bo pulls Lili aside and tells her he may have a surprise for her tonight. He says to keep it to herself, but if everything goes to plan, they may find out who stole her art. She is excited and Hope continues to watch John and Marlena.
6/15 John, Marlena, Gina, Bo, Greta, and Lilly arrive at the townhouse. Before going in, John tells Marlena that he has a plan, and Bo tells Lilly that they may find out who stole her artworks tonight. They all enter the townhouse and when John sees Stefano, he remembers more of his mercenary days. Bo tells Stefano that he is here to settle a score, but quickly covers by saying he is only here to support his father. Vivian thanks them for coming, but can't believe Lilly is here. Vivian tells Bo that she is so glad he is here.
Stefano gets a moment with Gina and is upset that she didn't tell him that she would be here. Gina says she couldn't get out of it, and that Bo is up to something. Stefano says Bo can scheme all he wants as long as his masterpieces are safe. Bo sees them together, but "Hope" tells him that Stefano didn't want anything important. Gina asks Stefano when he plans to bring back the old John? Stefano tells her to be patient, but Gina says she wants John back now!
Later, "Hope" talks to Marlena about John, and "Hope" accuses Marlena of keeping John from trying to remember the past. She tells her that remembering the past is the only way John's headaches will stop, and then tells Marlena she only thinks about herself. Nicholas confronts Gina and tells her that he knows who she is.
Before anything else can happen, Vivian decides to make her announcement. She tells them all that she wants them all to know why she is giving this party. She tells them all that before she dies she wants to bequeath her entire fortune to her friends and family. She says that she wants to see the faces of her friends and family when they receive her gifts. She goes on and says that she wants to give them her treasures tonight, and will start with her paintings.
Stefano stops her from taking a picture of the wall and says he can not allow her to do that. He asks why she would give them away? Vivian says she wants the pleasure of sharing them with her friends. Stefano says she seems to be getting better, so maybe she'd like to enjoy them a bit longer. Vivian says she is dying, coughs, and then leaves to get some water.
Gina realizes that she has to get to Stefano, but Nicholas refuses to let her leave. Gina tells Nicholas that she only looks like Gina. Bo hears this and asks Nicholas when he met the princess? Nicholas says it was in Stockholm about six years ago.
Vivian returns and tells everyone that she wants to give her paintings away. Stefano says they are hers to give away and helps her take them down. Gina is shocked and watches as Stefano helps Vivian give away the paintings.
6/16 Vivian is about to give away her most treasured painting, and Gina panics because the original is still underneath it. She pretends to faint, and when Bo catches her, she tells him to get his hands off of her! "Hope" apologizes and says he was hurting her arm. Bo takes "Hope" over to a chair so she can get her bearings. "Hope" apologizes to Vivian for knocking over a table, but Vivian says it isn't her fault. Abe and John wonder what is so important in this house to Stefano if it isn't the paintings.
Bo wants to take "Hope" home, but she says she just needs to get some air, alone. Stefano also excuses himself to take care of some things. Outside, Gina lights up a smoke and Stefano asks her what the hell is going on? Stefano tells her that he can see through her and she faked the fainting spell to stop Vivian from giving away the seascape, which she obviously never replaced.
Stefano is furious and tells her that she almost cost him millions! Stefano asks her if she is lying to him about anything else? He says that if there is, she better tell him now! Gina tries to dodge the question. When Bo shows up, Gina puts on a show for him so his suspicions aren't aroused.
Back inside, John has more mercenary memories. A worried Marlena tells Bo about John's memories, and the incident on their balcony. John comes up behind Stefano and says "at ease" and "as you were." Stefano warns him that he's playing a dangerous game.
John chimes his champagne glass to make an announcement, he and Marlena are getting married the day after tomorrow! Stefano tells himself that John has no future with Marlena, he will be his pawn again.
6/17 At Vivian's party, John announces to all the guests that the day after tomorrow, he and Marlena will be wed. Bo looks at "Hope" to see her reaction and senses that she is not happy. Hope isn't and shouts, "No" upon hearing the news. She "continues" her statement that no one could be happier for them than she is.
Bo walks up to her and asks how she really feels? She lies and says that she's happy, but Bo calls her on it and says he doesn't believe her. Hope storms off and meets up with Stefano. She tells him that he does not have much time to bring the old John back. He tells her not to worry, but to meet him in the downstairs room after the party to discuss. Before leaving, Victor asks Bo if things went as he wanted. Bo admits that they did not, but he is getting close to the truth.
"Hope" says that she's going to stay out for a while. When Bo asks where she plans to go at this time of night, "Hope" says that she does not have to explain anything to him and leaves.
6/18 Stefano is pacing in the secret lab (Rolf apparently had the night off, as he is nowhere to be found). Gina arrives and Stefano angrily warns her that he was almost caught because of her failing to finish the final painting. He's furious and wants to know why she lied about the last painting. Gina says that she can't paint while she's under pressure. She used to paint on a balcony in Capri, with natural light and a breeze. Here, she's confined to a dungeon with Stefano constantly pressuring her to pain more quickly.
Stefano relents a bit when she promises that she will be done with the painting by tomorrow. Gina turns the conversation to John, and Stefano again gets furious because he thinks Gina is ordering him around. Gina becomes contrite and tries to placate Stefano, but he tells her that he cannot trust her.
At Gran's kitchen, Bo advises Greta that he thinks Hope was covering something when she claimed that she was feeling ill. They rehash what happened at the party, and he comes to the conclusion that Hope was somehow warning Stefano about the seascape painting. Bo is crushed as he realizes that the two are in cahoots about something and it has to do with the Gauguin painting that is still in the townhouse. The two decide to return to the townhouse to do some snooping.
6/21 Bo and Greta show up at the townhouse to break in, and Greta makes a comment that she left her cat suit at home. After breaking in, Greta looks at the seascape and tells Bo that it reminds her so much of her mother's work. Bo doesn't understand why Stefano would have a painting by Princess Gina when he can have Van Goughs and Gauguins. Greta says that maybe it was a gift from her mother, and Bo says or maybe Hope painted it while she was Gina. Greta asks how they can prove it when there is no signature?
Bo says he knows a way they can find out about the painting, and calls a friend who can take a look at the paintings and give them a skinny. Greta says that the thing that bothers her is that Stefano didn't care that Vivian was giving the paintings away. Bo says that he only cared when "Hope" keeled over, and the Bo decides to examine the painting a little more closely. Bo thinks there could be something hidden inside the frame.
Gina tells Stefano that she will copy the painting tomorrow, and then he can concentrate on bringing back John. Stefano becomes upset by Gina's one track mind. He tells her that he doesn't know if he can trust her anymore, he almost lost his priceless painting because of her. Gina says that she saved the painting. Stefano says she will replace the painting, but it will not fix the broken trust.
Gina then tells Stefano if he brings the old John back, Marlena's world would be destroyed and he could once again go after her when she turns to him for comfort. Gina then begs for Stefano's forgiveness, but Stefano asks why Marlena would turn to him? Gina says she turned to him to save Sami, but Stefano says Marlena was desperate. Gina says that is exactly how she will feel when she loses John.
Stefano says he no longer needs or wants Marlena, but Gina says she knows he still loves Marlena. Stefano asks Gina why she has developed this sudden interest in his feelings for Marlena? Gina tells Stefano not to let her stupidity rob him of his future with the woman he loves.
Rolf shows up and says they should proceed with the plans to turn John back, but Stefano says the plans have changed. Stefano decides to tend to his ailing wife and tells Gina to go to the townhouse and do her job. Stefano leaves and Rolf asks Gina what she did to change Stefano's mind?
Gina tells him that she blew it and explains what happened. She then informs Rolf that he will help her change Stefano's mind about John, she can't live much longer without him. Gina asks Rolf what John will remember once he demagnetizes the chip? Rolf says that the chip in his brain is suppressing memories of his prior life.
Rolf says that once the chip is demagnetized, John will not remember Marlena and he will believe no time has past since he last saw Princess Gina. Gina says that is what she wants. Rolf asks what about Stefano, who is planning on being with her? Gina says that Stefano wants Marlena, and once John leaves her, Steffie will be there to help her pick up the pieces.
Gina says at least she won't be alone like she was when John left her. Stefano walks in and asks how she can compare her partnership with John to his romance with Marlena? Gina asks Steffie if he is still going to let her mistake ruin everything? Gina tells Stefano that he still has the painting, and once she and John steal the last Renoir for him, he will be the wealthiest collector in the world!
Still, Stefano says he doesn't like her wanting John back so badly. Gina says that she isn't just an art thief, she is an addict. She says that she needs the excitement she and John had back! Stefano tells her that he thought she wanted to be with him? Gina says she does, she is waiting for him to whisk her back to Europe.
Rolf asks if this means the transformation is back on? Stefano tells Rolf to get the demagnetizing apparatus so they can show Gina how to operate it. Gina is stunned that Stefano is going to let her do it, and she assures him that he won't be sorry! Stefano tells Gina that if he ever finds out she has lied to him again, she will not live long enough to have the luxury of regret!
