Bo & Hope #39 June 21 - August 12, 1999: 8 hour original edit

DVD #39A 6/21 Gina tells Stefano that she will copy the painting tomorrow, and then he can concentrate on bringing back John. Stefano becomes upset by Gina's one track mind. He tells her that he doesn't know if he can trust her anymore, he almost lost his priceless painting because of her. Gina says that she saved the painting. Stefano says she will replace the painting, but it will not fix the broken trust.

Gina then tells Stefano if he brings the old John back, Marlena's world would be destroyed and he could once again go after her when she turns to him for comfort. Gina then begs for Stefano's forgiveness, but Stefano asks why Marlena would turn to him? Gina says she turned to him to save Sami, but Stefano says Marlena was desperate. Gina says that is exactly how she will feel when she loses John.

Stefano says he no longer needs or wants Marlena, but Gina says she knows he still loves Marlena. Stefano asks Gina why she has developed this sudden interest in his feelings for Marlena? Gina tells Stefano not to let her stupidity rob him of his future with the woman he loves.

Bo and Greta show up at the townhouse to break in, and Greta makes a comment that she left her cat suit at home. After breaking in, Greta looks at the seascape and tells Bo that it reminds her so much of her mother's work. Bo doesn't understand why Stefano would have a painting by Princess Gina when he can have Van Goughs and Gauguins. Greta says that maybe it was a gift from her mother, and Bo says or maybe Hope painted it while she was Gina. Greta asks how they can prove it when there is no signature?

Bo says he knows a way they can find out about the painting, and calls a friend who can take a look at the paintings and give them a skinny. Greta says that the thing that bothers her is that Stefano didn't care that Vivian was giving the paintings away. Bo says that he only cared when "Hope" keeled over, and the Bo decides to examine the painting a little more closely. Bo thinks there could be something hidden inside the frame.

Rolf shows up and says they should proceed with the plans to turn John back, but Stefano says the plans have changed. Stefano decides to tend to his ailing wife and tells Gina to go to the townhouse and do her job. Stefano leaves and Rolf asks Gina what she did to change Stefano's mind?

Gina tells him that she blew it and explains what happened. She then informs Rolf that he will help her change Stefano's mind about John, she can't live much longer without him. Gina asks Rolf what John will remember once he demagnetizes the chip? Rolf says that the chip in his brain is suppressing memories of his prior life.

Rolf says that once the chip is demagnetized, John will not remember Marlena and he will believe no time has past since he last saw Princess Gina. Gina says that is what she wants. Rolf asks what about Stefano, who is planning on being with her? Gina says that Stefano wants Marlena, and once John leaves her, Steffie will be there to help her pick up the pieces.

Gina says at least she won't be alone like she was when John left her. Stefano walks in and asks how she can compare her partnership with John to his romance with Marlena? Gina asks Steffie if he is still going to let her mistake ruin everything? Gina tells Stefano that he still has the painting, and once she and John steal the last Renoir for him, he will be the wealthiest collector in the world!

Still, Stefano says he doesn't like her wanting John back so badly. Gina says that she isn't just an art thief, she is an addict. She says that she needs the excitement she and John had back! Stefano tells her that he thought she wanted to be with him? Gina says she does, she is waiting for him to whisk her back to Europe.

Rolf asks if this means the transformation is back on? Stefano tells Rolf to get the demagnetizing apparatus so they can show Gina how to operate it. Gina is stunned that Stefano is going to let her do it, and she assures him that he won't be sorry! Stefano tells Gina that if he ever finds out she has lied to him again, she will not live long enough to have the luxury of regret!

6/22 Bo shows up at Lilly's place to talk with "Hope," but Lilly says she was gone when she got up. Bo wonders if she even stayed here last night. Bo tells Lilly that he thinks "Hope" may be working with DiMera, and he will uncover why. Lilly says that she has warned her about that man, and to think they may be working together. Lilly says that she loves her like a daughter, which is why Bo tells her that they have to help each other.

Bo says that she has to tell her anything she can about "Hope," that she may be keeping from him, otherwise they can both lose her. Lilly says that she doesn't know anything. Bo tells her about "Hope's" fake fainting spell to save the seascape. Bo is positive that the seascape ties in with her painting thefts. Bo says that he looked at the police report of her theft, and Gina was never questioned. Lilly says that is because she was so upset that she had to be sedated. Lilly says that "Hope" has told her time and time again that she hates Stefano.

Bo pulls out the picture of Hope in Stefano's lap and asks her how she can explain it? Lilly is shocked by the photograph. Lilly asks where he got it, and he said he found it in "Hope's" room and she says she got it from one of her (Lilly's) books. Lilly says she did bring some of her brooks from Lugano over, and she remembers "Hope" looking through them the night of her accident.

Bo says that is when "Hope" started acting strangely, and is angered that instead of answers he is coming up with more questions. When Lilly says they may never know the truth, Bo assures her that he will find out why the paintings are so important to DiMera. Bo tells her that he is going to have an expert examine the paintings, he will bring DiMera's reign of terror to and end and get Hope back.

Gina tells Rolf not to lecture her. Gina says the most important thing is that Stefano has agreed to bring back John. When Gina tells him that it is best if he keep his mouth shut and do as he told, Rolf yells that he does not work for her! Gina reminds him of the blackmail material and says he wouldn't want Steffie to know the truth. Stefano shows up and asks what Rolf doesn't want him to know? Gina says that Rolf doesn't think she is capable of bringing John back. Stefano says that the procedure is complicated, she has to render John unconscious and then demagnetize the chip with a device.

Rolf says he's not sure they should bring John back, but Stefano says it must be done because John is becoming too dangerous. Still, Rolf says that everyone will become suspicious when John disappears. Stefano already has a plan, he's coming up with an alibi to prove he had nothing to do with John's disappearance. Stefano says that thanks to Gina, John will not show up for the wedding. Stefano says that he will arrange for John's death, then Gina will come up with an excuse for why she must leave for Europe immediately.

John and Gina will get him the last Renoit, and they will all live the life they are meant to live. Gina tells herself that she and John will live the life with the love they were meant to, until he took John away. Stefano tells Gina to find out everything she can about the details of the wedding, and Rolf is to get the demagnetizing device up and running. Gina calls the penthouse to talk with John or Marlena, but learns from Chelsea that they have gone to Salem Place to make wedding preparations.

Gina goes to Salem Place and spots John window-shopping. She manages to bump into him and congratulates him on his wedding. She hugs him and tells him that she's so happy for him.

6/23 In Salem Place, John tells "Hope" that she wasn't this happy last night when he made the wedding announcement. He asks her what was with her little fall last night? "Hope" says she just got a little lightheaded. "Hope" tells John that she was a little surprised that he and Marlena want to marry so soon. John says they didn't want to wait, and nothing will stand in the way of them being married.

"Hope" once again says she's so excited for him and asks where the wedding will take place? John says he can't reveal the location because it is a big surprise for Doc. John tells her that all she has to do is clear her schedule for tomorrow because she will be coming with Bo, correct? "Hope" says "are you kidding . . . . of course I will!"

"Hope" suddenly becomes dizzy and admits to John that she's having some disturbing moments. John understands and tells her about his memories of being DiMera's mercenary. "Hope" asks if the migraines are still bad, and he says yes. Suddenly, "Hope" passes out and John catches her.

"Hope" comes too and asks what happened? John says she fainted and he wants to take her to the hospital. "Hope" says she is fine, it must be the heat. She hopes the weather for the wedding will be better, and asks if it is outside? John tells her no comment, she'll have to be surprised like everyone else. They talk about John's headaches for a bit, John only remembers being a mindless fighting machine. "Hope" tells him that he can't have been under Stefano's control the whole time.

John says there is no way to prove it other than turning him into the man he used to be. "Hope" asks "then why don't we do that?" John asks her what she's saying? "Hope" says that maybe if he tried to remember his past he would know the truth, but John refuses to do that. "Hope" tells him that she knows he cared about Gina and Greta as if they were his family.

John says that dredging up the past will do him no good, he doesn't want to jeopardize his future with Marlena and the kids. John tells her that if she won't support him, then stay away from him! "Hope" apologizes and says she doesn't want to lose him as a friend, she always wants him to be a part of her life. John tells her that he always wants to be her friend, he just Overreacted. She asks him if she ever learned more about John and Gina's relationship, would he want to know? He says he would.

"Hope" decides to leave, and John spots Stefano and wonders what he is up to. John continues to remember more and more of Stefano's brainwashing of him into a fighting machine. In the flashback, John is hooked up to a computer and Stefano gives him his orders, "he will destroy the enemy." John suddenly grabs Stefano in a chokehold!

Meanwhile, Gina believes she will have John back again, and he won't be under Stefano's control.

6/24 At Salem Place, Hope stops John from strangling Stefano by using a flash of reflected light from her compact. Stefano limps away, and John can't believe that he would strangle Stefano, especially because the voice in his head (Stefano's voice) told him to destroy the enemy. John is puzzled why he would ever think Stefano was his enemy while he was under his control.

Gina recalls a conversation with Father John in which he plans to run away with Gina and doublecross Stefano. Gina begins to massage John's temples when Marlena and Sami arrive. Marlena quickly takes over for Hope and both Marlena and Gina are surprised when John thanks Hope but calls her "Gina." Hope says that they were talking about her past, and that it was a slip, which everyone buys. As John and Marlena go off, Hope asks Sami to join her for some coffee to "catch up."

At the Java Cafe, Gina and Sami are talking. Sami says she can still recall her time in the death chamber. Gina tells her it is post traumatic stress syndrome, and says that John has it too. Gina says that Sami might want to get professional help, and hey, perhaps John should get some too. Sami says that Marlena is helping John, but Gina says that Marlena might actually be hurting him. Gina continues, saying that Marlena might be in danger if she continues to help John. Sami gets wide-eyed upon hearing this and worries about her mother.

6/25 Bo is on his cell phone with Greta. He tells her when she finds Hope, to tell her their plan to hire an expert. If Bo's hunch is right, Hope will go straight to DiMera and that will prove that he is controlling her.

At the townhouse, the art expert is looking at all the paintings that Vivian gave away. The expert take a quick look and deduces that the same person painted all of them. Bo is intrigued, and the expert says that they are certainly not masterpieces. Upon a closer look at the seascape, it reminds him of a technique whereby masterpieces are painted over and therefore hidden.

Bo can't believe that this would work, but the expert assures him that with the right paint, masterpieces can be covered up. Bo is excited and instructs the expert to take the seascape and all the others to a lab for further analysis.

Meanwhile, Greta runs into Hope, who is at the Java Cafe looking at her compact and vowing that John will be hers again. Greta wonders if that is the original compact, but Hope lies and says it is a duplicate that she had made to try to jog her memory has Greta's mother. Alas, Hope says, she has not had any memories. Greta is wistful, saying that she misses her mother and always had a fantasy that Father John was her real father. "Hope" says that her dream may come true and leaves it at that.

Back to Gina and Greta, the talk turns to the impending marriage of John and Marlena, with "Hope" all happy for the two betrothed. Greta muses that it is quite a switch from Hope's actions at Vivian's party. Greta wonders if Hope and Bo will be back together. "Hope" says that she wants to be back with the man she loves. This gives Greta the opportunity to tell "Hope" about Bo's investigation with the art expert.

Gina chokes on her coffee and hightails it outta there. Greta whips out her cell phone and tells Bo what has just transpired. Bo is dejected, but he figured Hope would act that way. As Gina is walking, she remembers her promise to Stefano that she would finish the seascape, switch it and no one would be the wiser. She's obviously worried and curses Bo for his meddling.

6/28 "Hope" is in her car racing toward the townhouse. She is ranting and raving about Bo. She says she is NOT going to jail and neither is Stefano. Bo is following closely behind in his car. He tells Greta on the phone, that Hope is running red lights (and so is he). Cops get after him and he tries to let them know who it is.

"Hope" has arrived at the townhouse basement. She grabs the fake seascape and heads upstairs to switch it. She gets upstairs, painting in hand and stops when she sees the art expert in the living room. Bo arrives and asks if anyone else has arrived. "Hope" listens at the doorway to the basement, she is furious and says that it is time to teach him a lesson.

She goes around the townhouse and rings the doorbell and pretends that she was hunting him. She says that Greta told her what was going on and acts excited that maybe they will learn something. Bo plays along and tells her about the art expert and the seascape. He says that she painted it and for some reason she and Stefano didn't want it given away.

Then he accuses her of faking the fainting spell and calls her a liar. She acts hurt and gets defensive. He says that he just wants the truth. As he looks at her he asks "Who are you?" He says that everyone knows something isn't right with her, even Lili. She lies and says that she wants answers just as much as he does. She tells the art guy to find out as much as he can.

Bo hands the seascape to him and tells him to start with that one. There is an explosion in the basement. Bo takes off and as he opens the door, smoke pours out. He tells the art guy to get the paintings out of there and he will check it out. Outside, she switches the paintings. The expert tells them he is taking them to the lab and she tells Bo she was so worried about him when he went into that basement. If anything ever happened to him, she don't know what she would do. She hugs him as she eyes the painting and smiles.

6/29 Roman and Billie arrive with the arson squad. Bo tells Roman and Billie that he is positive that Hope is responsible for the explosion, but the arson squad says it was a faulty knob. Still, Bo says the more and more odd things Hope does, the more it convinces him that DiMera is controlling her.

Stefano, Rolf, and Gina are discussing John's transformation. Stefano tells Gina that she must get John away from the wedding for a bit, knock him unconscious, and then use the device. Gina plans to use the compact to give John a headache which will knock him out. Stefano tells Gina that once the transformation is complete, John will believe it is still 1985. Stefano says that he is leaving for Europe immediately so he can't be suspected in John's disappearance.

Gina plans to attend the wedding and be as shocked as everyone else when John does not show up.

As Gina is driving in her car, she calls John and says she must meet him immediately. After she hangs up, Gina says soon she and John can spend the rest of their lives together, with their daughter!

6/30 Bo learns that "Hope" is heading out of town. Bo wonders what is going on, and Greta hopes that they are wrong about all of this. Bo wishes that were the case, but if it isn't, God help John and Marlena. Bo says he has to go find "Hope," and Billie tells him to be careful. Bo leaves.

Gina calls John and asks to see him now. John becomes upset and asks if this is about his past? Gina tells him that it is not about his past, it is about his future. John says he is marrying Doc and it is none of her business. Gina says it is, they are friends. Gina tells John that if they don't talk, things may not happen as they are meant to.

Gina says she can't talk over the phone because Stefano could be listening. She asks John to just give her five minutes, and John eventually caves in. Gina calls Rolf and tells him that everything is set for the transformation. Gina then has more memories of John, and how they planned to be free to be together forever.

Meanwhile, Bo is in his car tailing "Hope." Gina looks in her rear view mirror and says "Oh God, not now!" Gina says she won't let Brady stop her, not when she's so close. Bo realizes that "Hope" has seen him. When he tries to speed up, Bo is run off the road by "Hope." "Hope" stops and asks Bo why he's following her? Bo says he was worried about her. "Hope" ends up grabbing Bo's keys and takes off in her car. Bo attempts to hot wire his car.

John arrives at the appointed meeting spot and has more memories and headaches. Rolf shows up and sees John collapse from the pain associated with his headache. John eventually concentrates on his love for Marlena to get him past the pain. John tells himself that he can't wait around for "Hope" any longer. As he is about to leave, he hears Rolf and wonders who is there. "Hope" finally shows up and thanks John for coming.

7/5 Bo shows up at Salem Place and tells Roman, Billie, and Greta how "Hope" ran him off the road and stole his keys. He had to hotwire his car to get back in to town. Bo is positive that "Hope" is under DiMera's control and both she and DiMera don't want this wedding to happen. Eric shows up and Billie wonders where John is, and why Eric isn't with him. Eric says that he went to meet "Hope" earlier.

In the woods, "Hope" hugs John and thanks him for coming. He asks her what is so important? "Hope" tells him that Stefano has left for Europe, so if he remembers the past they can bring Stefano down once and for all. John tells her to forget about the past and move forward with Bo and Shawn D. "Hope" tells John that she sees no future with Bo, and she doesn't even know if she can stay in Salem. John can't believe she is saying this.

"Hope" says she will do whatever she has to to be with the one she loves. John says he is going to do just that, but "Hope" stops him from leaving and says she has something to show him. "Hope" gives him a painting of himself and Marlena, one she painted herself. "Hope" tells him that she does want to see him happy. John thanks her and gives her a hug. "Hope" says she has something in her eye, and pulls out her compact. The glare blinds John, who falls to the ground in pain.

Bo, Roman, and all the others show up, and Bo tells Abe to put an APB out on "Hope," she is working with DiMera to stop this weeding. Marlena worries that John has not arrived, and then worries some more when she learns that John is off somewhere with "Hope."

"Hope" arrives and Bo demands to know where John is. "Hope" acts shocked that John isn't here. Bo asks "Hope" what the hell is going on with her, is she following DiMera's orders? "Hope" tells Bo not to worry, John will be here very soon. "Hope" says she just wanted to tell John that Stefano has left the country, so he and Marlena can marry in peace. Bo says there is one small problem, John isn't here!

Marlena confronts "Hope" and demands to know what she has done with John. Marlena asks where John is? John shows up and says he is right here, and if fine despite being a bachelor still. John says "Hope" just wanted to give them a wedding present, and tell him that Stefano has left the country. Bo turns to "Hope" and asks what in the hell is going on? "Hope" ignores him and suggests they all sit down. John says that is a good idea, they should get this show on the road.

John waits at the altar as the procession starts. Eric takes his place by John's side, and Belle and Brady walk down the isle. Sami follows them, and finally Marlena walks down the aisle as the wedding march plays. When Marlena gets to the altar, John tells her that they made it. The priest announces that they are all here to join John and Marlena in holly matrimony, and John says "amen!"

Back in the woods, Rolf moans and groans in the bushes, he has been badly beaten up.

7/6 As Marlena walks down the isle, Gina glares at her. When the priest says they are here to join John and Marlena in holy matrimony, John lets out an "amen!" The priest asks God to bless this union now and forever more. The priest asks John if he takes Marlena to be his wife. John says I do. The priest asks Marlena if she takes John to be her husband, and she says I do.

The audience then reads from First Corinthians. Marlena and John then recite the vows they prepared. After the vows, they exchange rings, and the priest pronounces them husband and wife. Everyone applauds and John lets out a "we did it!" They kiss, and the priest introduces Mr. and Mrs. John Black.

As everyone celebrates, Gina's heart breaks. She recalls John promising her that they would be married once they got away from Stefano. In a flashback, John asks Gina to marry him and if she does, he promises they will live happily ever after. Gina tells John not to worry, she isn't giving up on them.

Bo asks "Hope" what is wrong, she's crying? "Hope" says she is just being sentimental, but Bo says these are tears of sadness. Bo asks her what happened between her and John today. "Hope" says she doesn't have to answer that question and leaves to grab herself a drink or two.

Bo tells "Hope" to slow it down with the drinks, he knows her limit. "Hope" tells him that he knows nothing about her, and Bo says she's right. Alice asks "Hope" if she needs another drink? "Hope" says good question, the answer is no, of course not.

Bo tells Vivian and Celeste about the explosion at the townhouse, and how Hope had something to do with it. Bo asks John what happened with him and "Hope" earlier? John says that she just wanted to tell him that Stefano had left the country, and she gave him a portrait.

Meanwhile, Gina is in the bathroom saying how she loves John, and watching him marry that woman today was agony, like a knife piercing her heart. Outside, Billie is shocked by what she heard.

Back at the reception, Eric makes a toast to John and Marlena. After the toast, John and Marlena kiss to the sound of thundering applause.

7/7 The reception continues at the penthouse grill with everyone except Gina, having a good time. Marlena talks with Bo and tells him that she and John made it this far, so maybe he and Hope can. Bo is doubtful and says that the woman he has been committed to for most of her life is no longer with them.

In the bathroom, Gina looks into her compact and says she doesn't know if she can live the rest of her life without John. She then starts screaming "Damn him!" referring to Stefano. She rubs the compact over herself to remember John's warmth and love. She then breaks down in tears, unaware that Billie was in the stall.

Maggie enters the bathroom and asks "Hope" if she is all right? "Hope" says she just had a lash in her eye. Maggie says the wedding was so beautiful and perhaps this will be a new era of weddings in Salem, couples making it to the "I do's!" "Hope" leaves and Billie enters, and Maggie tells Billie about "Hope's" odd behavior.

John has a surprise for Marlena, and he sings a song to her. John then asks Celeste to sing a song for them, which she does beautifully. John and Marlena dance the first dance to Celeste's song, and half-way through everyone else joins in. John and Marlena are thrilled to see Bo and "Hope" dancing.

"Hope" tells Marlena that she really is happy for her and apologizes for being a pain the past few months. She pushes for info on the honeymoon, but John says he's not saying a word. Marlena begs for a hint when they are alone, and shouts out her guess, "Hawaii!" John tells her to shush, but it's too late because Gina has overheard.

Eric catches the garter, and gets a hug from Billie. Marlena throws the bouquet and Sami catches it. John and Marlena thank them all and asks them to stay and have a great time.

Billie confronts "Hope" and tells her that she knows she's in love with John, she heard her in the ladies room! Bo interrupts and asks what is going on? Billie tells Bo that "Hope" has been lying to him, and she has the real silver compact and has been lying about it. "Hope" tries to walk off, but Billie refuses to her leave. "Hope" accuses Billie of using an innocent child's death for her personal gain, and Bo believed the sociopath over her.

Bo tells "Hope" that they are worried about her, and Alice tells "Hope" that Bo is trying to help her. "Hope" accuses Bo of wanting to control her, and he only wants what he wants when he wants it. She accuses Bo of wanting her to forget about Billie and just marry him like nothing happened, but she can't. She tells Bo that it is over for good!

"Hope" accuses everyone of being on Bo's side, all of them! Alice tells her that her friends have tried to help her, but "Hope" says all they really want is to make sure nothing in their perfect little world ever changes. "Hope" tells Bo that he walked away from her when she needed him the most, and now she doesn't need him. "Hope" tells Bo to go to hell, and that goes for the rest of them.“

Hope" then walks out, however, Billie manages to get the compact from Hope's purse and says it is the original because it has the scratches she placed on it. Bo finally realizes "Hope" has been lying. Billie also tells Bo that she heard "Hope" say John gave this to her as a gift, which means that she is Princess Gina again.

7/8 Bo stops by Lily's place and updates her on the fact that Stefano has been controlling Hope and turned her back into Princess Gina. He wants to talk to Hope, so Lili goes to wake her up. Lili rushes out, saying that she's gone...all her clothes are gone, too. Bo worries and is about to check over at Grans when he spies a note addressed to him and in Hope's handwriting. He reads the note in which Hope claims to have gone to Europe. Furthermore, Hope requests that no one follow her.

On his private jet, Stefano is upset to learn that John and Marlena were married earlier. Rolf calls and tells Stefano about the attack. Rolf says that all he knows is that Gina lured John to the remote place, blinded him with the light reflecting off the compact and then the next thing Rolf knows, he's been unconscious and John and Gina are gone. Stefano is furious, when Rolf says that he does not know where John or Gina are.

John and Marlena relax on the beach in Hawaii. He begins to recite the poem, "How do I love thee, let me count the ways", and Marlena finishes it for him. As they frolic on the beach, John hears a woman screaming from the water. We see someone in the distance, and they appear to be drowning. John jumps into the water and swims out to help the mystery person.

7/9 Stefano is at Salem airport when Rolf calls again. He updates his boss on Gina's outburst at the wedding (which Rolf overheard Nicholas and Vivian talking about.) The incident last night reminded Rolf of New Year's Eve 1985 party in which the real Princess Gina told off the entire guest list because she was so despondent over the loss of Father John.

Stefano recalls the incident and says that it was because of the real Gina's manic depression that he transplanted all of Gina's feelings and memories into Hope so that the art thefts could continue. Stefano continues saying the real Gina survived the transition. Stefano worries that since Hope is a much stronger person with a mind of her own, this Gina will cause trouble. He orders Rolf to gather his men and begin searching for Gina.

At the Java Cafe, Greta, Billie and Eric are there for Bo who tells them about Hope's devastating note. The four gather that Stefano has programmed Gina and has been controlling her for the past few months. That's why Hope has been desperate to be with John, because the real Gina was in love with Father John. Bo gets a call, and moves away.

Bo returns and says he heard from his art expert. The man said that the seascape painting was actually painted only a few days ago. This confirms his suspicions that Stefano took the woman he loved and transformed her into a monster. He rushes off to confront him. On Stefano's plane, Bo tells the old man that he knows about Hope's transformation into Gina!

John rushes into the water to save the drowning person. He reaches the person, but they have moved behind some rocks, so Marlena's view of them is obscured. The person calling for help injects John which makes him unconscious. A second diver arrives with a net and an extra tank and mask. They hook John up to the extra oxygen, place him in the net and swim away. After some time, they swim up to a waiting submarine. They take the still unconscious John into the sub. Now there are three people, who carry John into a bedroom. As they leave, another woman comes in, it’s Gina!

On the bed in the sub, Gina begins the transformation to the Old John. She's even got a calendar from July 1985. Gina is primping at the mirror, when John begins to waken. She joins him on the bed, and as his eyes focus, he asks if it is really her. She says it is, and John sits up. He looks around, gets up and says that she is using the submarine! Gina is astonished, and confirms it. She says that now they are together and no one, including Stefano, will tear them apart. John takes her into his arms and tells her she is the most exciting woman and begins kissing her.

7/12 Bo demands Stefano tell him where "Hope" is. Stefano says he doesn't know what he's talking about. Bo tells Stefano that he knows he changed her into Princess Gina the night of her accident. Bo tells her that she has been different ever since, and now she's disappeared after flipping out at John and Marlena's wedding reception.

Stefano asks what she said, but Bo says he knows what she said because he engineered it. Stefano says he had no part in this, but Bo knows he went to Europe to meet "Hope." Stefano says he was on a business trip, and has nothing to do with "Hope's" disappearance. Stefano says it sounds like Hope is going through a break down.

Marlena calls Bo from Hawaii and she reaches him while he is still on Stefano's jet. She tells him that John has disappeared. Bo asks how long he has been gone? Marlena says its been a few hours. She tells him that John went into the water to save a woman, and never returned. Bo tells her that he's on his way. Stefano asks if something is wrong? Bo tells him that it is none of his business. He tells him that he will be back and deal with him later.

Later when Rolf shows up, they wonder what Gina is up to and where she is. Rolf says he wishes he knew what happened on the hillside when he was knocked out. Stefano wonders what Gina is up to, and says Gina will pay dearly if she has betrayed him. Stefano says it will be the end of Princess Gina and Hope Williams Brady.

On the sub, John is amazed that Gina got the sub without him. They kiss and Gina asks John to make love to her. John picks Gina up and carries her to the bed, but then he stops and says they can't pick up where they left off. Gina asks why not? John says that he is not the John Black she knew and loved, and he knows she's not Princess Gina. John tells her that they have to assume new identities and disappear with Greta.

John asks her where they are? Gina tells him that they are off the coast of Hawaii, and he's been unconscious ever since she rescued him from Stefano. Gina remembers when Stefano told her that he used John for another assignment. John tells Gina that Stefano drug him and took him out of Europe, he was going to turn him into someone else to get revenge on a family he hated. John laughs when he thinks that Stefano was going to turn him into Roman Brady, though he never says his name.

John says the last thing he remembered is being strapped down and Rolf was about to implant him with new memories. John asks Gina how she found him? Gina says that she threatened Rolf, and then called in some favors before Rolf turned him into Roman. John asks her who Roman is? Gina says she saw the name at the dossier on a file at Rolf's lab, which was located in San Diego. John asks what day it is? Gina shows him a newspaper from 1985, it's July 12th.

John looks out the periscope and says a storm is on its way, so they should dive deep and set the auto pilot. John also says he needs fuel, and asks if she has food? Gina says you'll see, and then asks what will happen if Stefano finds them? John doesn't think he will, but if he does, he'll kill him. Later, Gina sets up a seductive little scene, including dinner for a hungry John. John tells her to hell with dinner, and the two kiss. John feeds Gina some caviar, then pours champagne on her and licks it off. The two then go at it on the bed.

7/13 Rolf shows up and tells Stefano that wherever Gina went, she didn't use her "Hope" passport. Stefano can't believe that Gina is traveling Europe as Gina Von Amberg, but Rolf says she may not be in Europe at all. Stefano says of course she is, that is where she was supposed to meet him. Then he finally realizes that Gina has betrayed him, and he will find her.

Stefano wonders what is going on, and where Gina is. Stefano wonders if Gina hit Rolf in the forest as part of her own plan, which does not include him. Rolf remembers another time when Gina caused a scene after John left. In the flashback, Gina told Rolf that she was completely alone, and she wanted Rolf to find someone to replace her. Rolf tells Stefano that he fears the current Gina might be deteriorating the same way.

Stefano gets a call from Bart, who has information on Bo. Bart tells Stefano that Bo went to Hawaii, where John and Marlena are honeymooning. The pieces fall into place and Stefano realizes John is the missing person. Stefano tells Rolf that he's starting to think Gina and John's relationship was more than professional. Stefano gets another call from Bart, who tells Stefano about John's disappearance while trying to save a woman. Stefano realizes that Marlena must have been the person who called Bo, and maybe John and Gina are together.

In Hawaii, there is a knock at Marlena's door and she races to it, thinking it is John. It's only Bo, and a tearful Marlena throws her arms around him. Marlena explains to Bo how John went missing, and how long he's been gone. Bo tells her that John has made it out of tight spots before, he'll make it out of this one.

When Bo learns that neither John nor the woman's bodies have washed ashore, he puts two and two together. Bo tells Marlena that Hope is missing as well. Marlena asks him if he thinks that they are together? Bo says that Stefano has transformed Hope back into Gina, which explains her recent behavior. Bo tells her that Gina was in love with John, and he thinks Hope might have orchestrated John's disappearance.

Marlena doesn't think is true, but Bo says that his gut tells him that John and Hope are together, and DiMera is responsible. Marlena fears that if his theory is right, she may never see John again. Bo promises Marlena that he will find both John and Hope, and he races out of her room. Bo returns shortly and tells her that the storm is too bad to allow him to search for John and Hope.

Bo asks Marlena if John has had anymore flashbacks recently? Marlena tells him yes, John even tried to strangle Stefano. Bo thinks that Stefano was afraid John was getting his memory back, so he decided he had to control John again to save himself. Marlena realizes that Gina may have finally gotten John, and then she damns Stefano.

Gina and John have finished their roll in the hay, and Gina says it was definitely worth the wait. John is manning the sub, and Gina wants him to come back to bed. John says he can't take a chance that Stefano will find them, and Gina tells him that he worries too much, nobody will find them. John tells Gina how worried he was about her when Stefano was holding him captive because he said she was very ill.

Gina says she lost her spirit when he was taken from her. John tells her that she had to know he'd come back for her, but Gina says there were others who didn't want them together. John demands to know who these people are? He says he wants a list. Gina says it was just all the suitors who pursued her thinking that she was available.

John tells her that nobody will keep them apart, he would kill for her. They talk about their past and the thrills. John says they will have to give that life up, but he has other private, and dangerous, plans for them. John tells her that he's tired of playing a good guy, he wants to be bad. Gina tells John to marry her and make an honest woman out of her. John says okay, he'd like to settle down with her and Greta.

He asks Gina where Greta is because they can go pick her up. Gina tells him that they can't! Gina says that she moved Greta to a safer location, and she doesn't want Stefano to find her. Gina says they can get her soon, but now it is John and Gina time. John says he needs to work off some of this food, so Gina leads him back into the bedroom, where Gina puts on Rapture, and then they go at it again.

7/14 In Hawaii, the coast guard tells Bo that they can't search for John until the storm passes. In her room, Marlena remembers Stefano wishing her happiness with John, and "Hope" asking Marlena to forgive her for the way she's acted the past few months.

There is a knock at Marlena's door, and when she answers it, it's Stefano! Marlena demands to know what he has done with her husband. Stefano waltzes in and says he has no idea where John was, he didn't even know she was in Hawaii. Marlena remembers blurting it out at the reception, and says "Hope" must have heard it and told him.

Stefano says that Hope told him nothing. Marlena asks Stefano if "Hope" followed them here to lure John away from her? Stefano doesn't know why she would say such a thing. Marlena knows he set this up and says she will spend the rest of her life paying him back. Bo shows up and is furious to see Stefano. Stefano tells Bo that he is here to help find John.

Bo gets a laugh out of that, and then threatens to rip his lungs out if he doesn't tell him where John and Hope are. Stefano says that he has no idea where they are, and tracked Bo here after learning he went to Hawaii and that John has gone missing. Bo starts talking about Gina, and Stefano says that there was no transformation, and Hope went to Europe according to her letter. Bo says that Hope never left the US. Stefano swears that he does not know where they are, but he will use his influence to find them.

Stefano leaves and Marlena tells Bo that Stefano was telling the truth. She said Stefano was nervous, he doesn't have a clue where John and Hope are. Bo reminds her that she's no longer Hope, she's Gina. Bo says that if Stefano doesn't know the truth, Gina has obviously double crossed Stefano, who was planning to turn John back into his pawn. Bo thinks that Stefano's plan failed, but Gina's went off without a hitch. Bo thinks that Gina and John are hiding somewhere, and Stefano really is trying to find them.

Bo then tells her the crazy part, Hope is having the real Gina's memories and feelings for John. Marlena says John is in love with her, and he'll get away from her. Bo says that John may not be the man who married her, he may have been brainwashed back into Father John, the man who loved Gina.

Marlena asks Bo if he thinks they are lost to them? Bo says no, but they have to find them before DiMera does. Marlena takes a walk on the beach and sees a man and a woman who have found a pair of pants in the surf She runs over to them and realizes that they are John's pants, they are bloody and torn.

John tells Gina that all they have to do is get their money, pick up Greta, and head to Paris. John asks for the compact, and Gina realizes she left it behind. John asks her how she could be so stupid! John says they have to go back for it, but Gina says they can't. John says that it was more than a compact, it held a key to the safe deposit box in Paris. John says it doesn't matter, he will get the money some other way.

When Gina falls asleep, John sneaks out of bed. Gina wakes up and finds him gone. John returns with some champagne and food, when suddenly the sub hits something. John runs to the control deck and says that the sub is descending for some reason. He asks her to man the controls while he checks the engine. Gina realizes that John is putting himself at risk in order to save her. John kisses her and tells her that he loves her. John manages to fix the problem, but they have to head to the surface so he can further work on the engine.

Stefano boards a boat and screams that he's coming for Gina and John, and they are going to pay! John heads up to the deck of the sub and comes face to face with Stefano!

7/15 As Bo learns that Stefano is still in Hawaii, Marlena is talking to the coast guard who informs her there have been shark sightings recently. Marlena returns to her room, where she starts crying on Bo's shoulder. She can't believe that he is gone, but it is apparent that the woman he went out to save dragged him down under water and they both drowned.

Stefano has pulled a gun on John, and he carefully lowers himself into the sub. Gina is shocked to see Stefano, and John enters right after. Stefano puts two and two together and realizes that his two best operatives are lovers. As they are talking, Gina secretly gets a knife and hands it to John behind his back. John walks up to Stefano, who is still holding them at gunpoint and starts to battle with the old man. The gun goes off, but no one is hurt.

John tells Stefano to look into his eyes because it will be the last thing he sees before he goes to hell. John stabs Stefano, who sinks to the ground, gasping for breath. John turns to kiss Gina, and misses the two henchmen that have arrived. They scuffle with John and Gina, but Stefano shouts that he will take care of them. Seems John has gotten soft with his love for Gina, because the "Old John" would never leave an enemy without verifying he's dead.

As John is getting beaten up, he is able to relay a message to Gina: find the note he wrote her in Paris, that will tell her where to meet him.

Dvd #39B The henchmen beat John until he's unconscious and drag him to the top of the sub. They transfer him to a speed boat, and toss him overboard, with blood smeared all over him. John is face-first in the ocean, unconscious. Stefano is furious with Gina that he is no longer any concern of hers. She tells him that she turned John back into his mercenary and did what he asked her to do. He warns her not to tell him anymore lies, he knows that she knocked out Rolf. He continues that she will never see John again! Gina cries out, "NO!."

Marlena has a hopeful look in her eye and starts shouting John's name. She rushes into the ocean and holds onto John, who has washed up ashore, still unconscious.

7/16 On the beach, Marlena screams for help when she finds John's body drifting in the water. Paramedics come on the scene and take John away in a stretcher, but not before they say they are concerned about all the blood loss. Marlena goes to the hospital, where Bo meets up with her. He heard about John’s rescue through the Coast Guard's radio.

The doctor comes out and says that John lost a lot of blood, but he's stable now. A relieved Marlena goes in to see her husband, but Bo questions the doctor. He wants to know how John could have survived. All the doc says is that it was a miracle. In his room, Marlena thanks God that he's alive, and notices that he has lost his wedding ring. As Marlena is talking to John, Bo comes in, and John begins to wake up. He sees Marlena, and wonders where he is. Marlena hugs him, and John says shouldn't they be on their honeymoon now.

On the sub, Stefano angrily calls Gina selfish and threatens to turn her back into "Hope." Gina is scared now, and just wants her life back. Which life, Stefano asks, the one with him or the one with John. Gina explains to Steffie about John: the real princess Gina fell in love with John. When Hope was transformed into Gina, she had none of Hope's memories, so she did not know that John was alive and in Salem.

This time, when Stefano transformed her, she had both Hope and Gina's memories and feelings and had to contend with them every day. She just wants to be Princess Gina again, living in Europe, going to fabulous parties. Stefano is not buying it, and says that he really loved Gina. This prompts "Gina" to wonder what really happened to the real Princess Gina. Stefano does not say anything, so she switches tactics and wants to make things up to him. She removing her robe and offers to do anything but she also asks him not to punish John. Later, Gina is introduced, and she makes her entrance.

7/19 Bo asks John what happened out in the ocean. John tells Bo that he doesn't know, he just remembers trying to rescue a woman. Bo asks John if the woman was "Hope"? John says that is ridiculous, but Bo tells him all about how "Hope" left town after his wedding. He explains everything that happened, and that "Hope," as Gina, kidnapped him. Bo asks John if she did? John says he doesn't remember, he's sorry. John doesn't understand how "Hope" could have pulled this off. Bo says he can't prove his theory, but he knows it is possible.

John says maybe he just passed out, but Bo says no. Bo asks what happened to his wedding band? John says he probably lost it in the ocean, but Bo says no way, its just anther stange happening. Bo says he disappeared, and then reappeared, and he thinks his missing status is thanks to one Gina Von Amberg. John still doesn't believe how "Hope" could be responsible. Bo tells John that he doesn't have the whole story, and tells him about Stefano's turn up in Hawaii. Later, John gets ready to leave, and Bo apologizes to John for troubling him. Bo says he will handle the search for Hope and whatever comes up with Stefano.

Stefano is in a robe and is on the phone, he learns that John survived. Gina also shows up, in a robe, and Stefano calls her a sweet lady. Stefano tells Gina that John is alive, and Gina thanks him for sparing John's life. Stefano asks "he means that much to you?" Stefano says she doesn't have to answer, he can tell by her silence. Gina says she is sorry, and Stefano says she should be.

Stefano tells Gina that she looks like Princess Gina most of the time, and acts like her, but she's not her, exactly. Gina tells Stefano that she knows he was in love with her. Stefano says he realizes now that he didn't know the real Gina as well as he thought he did. Gina tells him that she has all the real Gina's memories, and she knows that the real Gina never knew the depth of his feelings. She says he was always off somewhere with other women, he was never faithful.

Stefano says he gave her the world, she owed him everything! Gina says she owed him nothing, she was never under his control. Stefano looks at her and says "but you are!" Gina reminds Stefano that he made her like Gina, so if the real Gina was going to betray him, why would she be any different? Stefano says he doesn't know what to think anymore, he has been hurt by her.

Gina tells Steffie that she made a mistake with John, has she not more than made up for it? When she says this, she grabs his face and whispers in his ear that she has learned her lesson. She tells Stefano that she will go to Europe with him and steal the last Rennet for him, that is still his plan? Stefano tells her yes that is the plan. Stefano tells Gina that she can't go back to Salem now. Gina says that they will have so much fun together.

Stefano says they have a problem, Bo is capable of hunting them down. Gina says she is not worried about Bo, he will eventually have to give up on her. Stefano asks if she can truly live without John? Gina says that the real Princess Gina couldn't, but she can. Stefano remembers when John left Gina and how Gina fell into a deep depression and let herself go. Stefano tells Gina, the new one, that the real Gina couldn't take losing John, and he fears history will repeat itself.

Back in the flashback, Gina tells Stefano that he'll have to find someone else to do his work. Stefano suggests they go to Maison Blanche where he can look after her. Gina thinks she might be able to see Greta, and Stefano says of course she can. When she asks to see John, Stefano says it is not possible because John is dead.

In the present, Stefano says he remembers how heartbroken Gina was when she thought John was dead. Gina asks him what did he expect? Gina then asks Stefano what happened to Gina after the transformation, how did she die? Stefano tells her not to worry about that! Gina asks why he is yelling at her? Stefano apologizes and says he doesn't like talking about Princess Gina. Later, Gina remembers John telling her, before he was dragged off, that the letter would tell her where to go. She wonders what letter he was talking about?

In a castle in Paris, we hear a woman weeping as she reads a letter. The letter is John's, and the woman is an old and wrinkled Princess Gina!

7/23 Stefano tells Rolf that he should have seen Gina's betrayal coming. Stefano explains to Rolf what happened with Gina and John out on the sub. Stefano rants and raves how he gave Gina his heart and soul. Rolf says he is sorry, but now realizes why Gina was so desperate for John to remember his past. Stefano tells Rolf that it was Gina who knocked him unconscious.

Stefano says that he had John neutralized, so he won't remember anything, but he has big plans for Gina. Stefano says he will send Gina to Paris to rest, and then he will join her and they will steal the last Rennet. Stefano says that Gina made up for her betrayal, and then blamed him for her betrayal by giving her all of the real Gina's memories.

Stefano reflects on the first time he made Hope Gina, she didn't know John was alive and still thought he was dead. However, this time she knew John was alive, and that is why she betrayed him. Stefano thinks that Gina has accepted John will never be a part of her life again, and he will make Gina happy. Rolf asks what about Bo? Stefano says even if he finds Gina, he can only transform her back via the satellite.

Rolf reminds Stefano that he has a wife, but Stefano says that Gina has not been loyal to him! He sometimes wonders if Vivian knows he owns the townhouse and artworks. Rolf says if that is the case, he needs to devote his attention to her. Rolf says Vivian could be out for revenge if she learns about the microchip, and he says they must not allow that to happen.

Bo visits Alice and tells her that Stefano has taken Hope away from them again. He explains how and when Stefano turned Hope back into Gina. Alice is upset and asks if he has seen her since the wedding reception? Bo says no, she is in Europe, and that is why he is going there. Bo promises her that he will bring Hope home. Bo then explains to her that John was probably never a priest, and John and Gina were in love, which is why she tried to stop the wedding.

Alice says that Greta says her mother fell apart when she lost John, could the same thing happen to Hope? Bo says that or much worse, which is why he must find her. Alice asks Bo if he knows how to undo what Stefano did? Bo says he has a way to get her back and DiMera won't be able to stop him. Alice asks how?

Bo says he plans to reach her soul and drive out GIna. Bo knows their love can conquer Stefano's manipulations. Bo says he will go to Europe and immerse himself in Gina's world so he can learn her strengths and weaknesses, then he will save Hope. Alice thinks that if anyone can do it, he can.

Gina arrives in Paris at her old house and is stunned to find that it has become overgrown with vines. Gina finds the hidden key and says that she has to find the letter if she hopes to have a future with John. Gina unlocks the door and enters her house. Everything is covered with old sheets, and she is haunted by ghosts from her past. She remembers when the house was alive and she and Greta lived here, and were planning a grand ball.

She then becomes sad when she thinks about John and how she only had him back for a few glorious hours. When she thinks about what she did with Stefano, she says she feels so dirty and ashamed. Gina reaches into her purse and pulls out John's wedding ring and swears that John will be hers again. Gina remembers more of her times with John after she sent Greta to visit the Vatican. She says if John gave her a letter she should have remembered it, and says it must still be here somewhere.

She begins to search through her old desk, but finds nothing. She does find a letter which reminds her of the time John gave her some silver candle sticks for the anniversary of the first time they made love. She looks in the drawer for the sticks, but finds they are gone. She lights up a cigarette and refuses to lose John to Marlena again.

The real Princess Gina, reads John's letter, which instructs her to go to the country house where he will meet her. Kurt returns home, and Gina thinks he is John. Kurt says that it is only him, he went to pick her fresh gardenias, and went to town for groceries. Kurt notices she has been painting, but is shocked by what she has painted. Gina asks him if he likes it and he says ye, but says she should paint something other than portraits of John. Gina says she will paint whatever she wishes, and he puts it with all the other portraits of John.

Gina tells Kurt that he has been so good to her, so she will paint him a seascape one day. Gina tells Kurt that when John comes for her, they will take him with them and find a doctor to restore the feeling to his leg. Kurt tells her that being whole again is only a fantasy, just like her fantasy that John will come for her. Gina tells Kurt that John is coming back, and Kurt apologizes. Later, Gina pulls out her silver candlesticks and lengths them for dinner. She continues reading John's letter and asks him to please hurry and find her.

7/26 Gina is still looking for John's letter at the Paris house. She remembers John telling her about the safe deposit box at the Faversham bank and thinks that the letter must be there. As she is opens the door to leave, Gina walks right into Bo! Bo struts inside and asks Hope if she is redecorating? Gina tells him to leave now, but Bo just tells her how messy she is getting. Gina asks him once again to go, but Bo says he can't go until he helps her. Gina asks if he read her goodbye note, and Bo says yes. Gina tells him that she thought she made herself clear in the letter. Bo says she was clear, but he's stubborn.

Gina tell Bo that she told him it was over between them and she thought he would have gotten the message. Bo says he has. Gina asks how he found her, and Bo tells her that he knew she lived here as Princess Gina. Bo asks if she came here right after the wedding, and Gina tells him that is none of his concern. Bo says it is, and tells her about John and Marlena's honeymoon. Bo tells Gina that John has been found, alive, but doesn't remember anything. Gina is shocked to learn that John remembered Marlena. Gina says she is happy that everything worked out for them.

7/28 Bo calls Abe from Paris and tells him about "Hope." He tells him all about his plan to fool Gina by pretending she is still "Hope." Meanwhile, Gina ransacks her house trying to find John's letter, but of course she doesn't find it. She tells herself that the real Princess Gina must have received it, and possibly took it to her grave. Bo shows up at Gina's place in a tuxedo to take her out to dinner at the La Roulette. Gina tells him that is for Rock Stars and Models, they could never get a table. Bo says he already has reservations, but he can cancel, he doesn't mind staying here with her. Gina tells him that she will go with him, it would be a shame to waste a reservation.

Bo asks her about her memory, but she says she hasn't remembered anything new. Bo says he's going to call John, so Gina asks if John remembers anything? Bo says he doesn't know, he'll ask him. Gina tells herself that she will go out with Bo tonight, but will spend the rest of the night searching for John's letter. She truly believes John will remember and come back to her.

Gina returns all dressed up and Bo says that John is happy that he (Bo) is here helping her. Bo says that he thinks John would be interested in anything they find out, as long as it doesn't come between him and Marlena. Gina says that sometimes things happen that they can't control. Bo asks if she'd care to elaborate? Gina gets cranky and tells him to forget dinner tonight.

Bo asks her if the dress she is wearing is Gina's? Gina says yes, and comments that it is odd that this house has been closed up for years, though it seems like someone has removed items from the house. Bo asks her if they are going out to dinner or not, and she finally agrees to go. Bo says he wonders if they'll run into someone from her past, and Gina says that wouldn't surprise her.

Kurt returns to the real Gina. Kurt has returned from her Paris house with some gowns for her. Gina tells Kurt that she needs him to go back to the Paris house, there is something she must know. Kurt says he will do it after dinner, he has made reservations at her favorite restaurant. Gina says "La Roulette? and comments that it would be nice to spend an evening out with friends."

Gina tells Kurt that this is going to be an unforgettable evening! However, Gina suddenly wonders what would happen if John came for her when they were out? Kurt, realizing Gina has no idea how long it has been, tells her that he's sure he won’t. Gina says he is right and then combs her hair. Gina says that she'll have to tell her friends that tonight is the last night she will be able to dine with them, because once John arrives she will have no time for them. Kurt asks "not even time for your friend Kurt?" Gina tells Kurt that she is sure Stefano will take care of him, just like he has taken care of her.

Gina says it was Stefano who brought her here to wait for John to return. Kurt knows the real reason Stefano brought her here, and mumbles Stefano brought you here to protect you. Gina asks Kurt what she needs protection from? Kurt says that she needs protection from men might prey upon her because of her beauty. Gina says that the men mean her no harm. Besides, the only man she needs is John. Gina says she hasn't been out in ages, and asks if there is a full moon? Kurt says yes, and Gina says the last time there was a full moon, she was in John's arms. Gina grabs John's letter and they leave for the restaurant, but not before writing John a note saying she is out for the moment, but will be back soon. Kurt wonders if they'll run into someone from her past, and she says nothing would surprise her.

7/29 In Paris, Gina arrives at the restaurant with Bo and is immediately recognized as Princess Gina. He suggests that she pretend to be the real princess. The duke and duchess who own the last Renet stop by and talk to the two. Bo asks a few questions and the two learn that the painting is heavily guarded by a security system. The duke invites Bo and Gina to a yacht party, and they accept. Continuing with their meal, Bo and Gina banter about how suave and sophisticated Bo is tonight.

Gina appears to be warming up to him. As she reaches for her purse to check her makeup, Bo surprises her with a look alike compact he just bought for her today. He hopes that the compact will have the same meaning to her (as Hope) that it did to the real Princess Gina. The two end up dancing a waltz, and again, Gina is impressed that Bo is dancing a waltz with her.

Meanwhile, the real Princess Gina imagines that she is at the same restaurant. She and Kurt talk to the imaginary guests. Gina is clearly delusional. She begins searching for her compact and becomes distraught. She begins yelling that whoever stole her compact must return it immediately.

Kurt calms her down, and Gina suddenly realizes that something is wrong. She dully sits down and laments that her life has been wasted. She is sad that John has not come for her. Kurt tries to reassure her that John will be here soon, he has just been delayed. This seems to cheer the princess up, and Kurt offers to dance with her.

7/30 In Paris, Princess Gina tells Kurt that she would give anything to see her Greta again. Gina continues to live in her fantasy world, and Kurt continues to compliment Gina on her beauty. She becomes distraught again because she cannot find her compact, but Kurt diffuses the situation. Gina orders Kurt to go to the country house and air it out. Reluctant to leave, Kurt does, but not before locking the door so that Gina cannot leave. Alone, Gina is positive that John will come for her tomorrow.

At the restaurant, Hope is impressed with Bo's dancing. Coincidentally, Eric and Greta arrive and the maitre-d' tells Greta that her mother is hear. The two are surprised, but agree to see them. Eric reminds Greta that they can't let "Hope" know they have the compact or that they found the key. Also, they can't let her knew that they know she is Gina. They go and see Bo and "Hope" and Hope is genuinely happy to see Greta again. As she hugs her, Bo, Eric and Greta exchange knowing glances.

They all sit at the table, and Eric and Greta reveal that they are searching for what happened to the real Princess Gina. Bo explains that they are pretending for the patrons' sake that Hope is Princess Gina. "Hope" denies having any memories, save for the flashes. Greta reveals that when John left her, her mother suffered a breakdown. Hope exclaims that it is not possible, then covers saying that all the flashes of memories she's had always had Princess Gina as a strong woman.

Greta tells "Hope" that it's been learned that John and Gina were lovers and the last time Greta saw her mother was after John left. Her mother was depressed and despondent. "Hope" is suddenly worried, and leaves the restaurant alone. The remaining three begin to talk about what they have learned on the trip to Paris.

Hope returns to the country house, worried that she does not remember the real Gina going mad. She worries that this could happen to her, and recalls Stefano's threat that he would hurt her if he ever betrayed him. "Hope" hears a noise in the house and thinks that she's just spooked. She hears the noise again, and calls out Steffie's name. She goes to the curtains, and pulls them aside. She is frightened by a figure that is hiding in the curtains (Kurt), so much so that she screams and faints. Bo, who has followed Hope to the house, hears her screams and finds her on the floor, unconscious. The figure is still hiding behind the curtains.

8/2 In Paris, the real Gina is busy painting another portrait of John. She screams for Kurt, who does not respond. Gina wonders where John is. She screams that she's tired of waiting, all she ever does is wait! She then destroys her portrait of John. Gina cries that Kurt and everyone have lied to her, and she screams that she doesn't want to wait anymore. As she trashes the place, she sees her picture of John, which she defaced only moments ago, and thinks it is a sign from John telling her to wait because he's coming. Gina hates Kurt for doing this to her and grabs a halberd (axe on a spear) from one of the suits of armor and says she will kill Kurt when he returns.

At the Paris house, Bo brings "Hope" her morning coffee. She thanks Bo for staying with her last night. Bo says she never told him why she screamed, and why he found her past out. "Hope" says that she could have sworn she saw someone behind the drapes. Bo looks and says nobody is here now, and "Hope" snaps at him for being sarcastic. What she doesn't know is that Kurt is still in the house, listening to their every word. He wonders who they are and what they are doing here.

Back in the room, Bo shows "Hope" pictures of Shawn Douglas and tells her stories about Shawn D at school, which make "Hope" laugh. Bo wishes she would give up this search, but "Hope" says she can't and doesn't know what the future holds for her. Bo comforts her by holding her. "Hope" says she is cold, so Bo leaves to get some blankets.

Kurt quickly slips out, but Gina sees him and screams for Bo. Bo shows up and "Hope" tells him that a man was just in the hall way, but Bo says whoever it was is long gone. "Hope" wonders if she is hallucinating? Bo says no, but the real Gina probably did because this place is enough to drive her mad. Bo tells her that she is safe and thank God she is not Princess Gina.

8/3 Bo is dining with Eric and Greta. Bo tells them that Gina/Hope was rattled after learning the real Gina had a nervous breakdown, and now Gina/Hope thinks the same will happen to her. Bo fears that this could be the beginning of the end for Hope, so he will rescue her from DiMera's creation.

Bo notices that Greta has the original compact, and Eric shows Bo the key that was hidden inside. Bo says it looks like a safe-deposit key, and Greta remembers her mother banking at a Faversham bank here in Paris. Bo wonders if Gina/Hope knows about this? Greta says it would explain why she wanted it back so badly. Bo says it looks like a safe deposit key, but they can't get access to it without a will or death certificate. Greta says there has to be a way to get to it.

Bo says there is, he knows someone who can get to it, Hope/Gina! However, Bo says they can't let her know they have the compact or key, so that idea is gone. Eric wonders why Hope/Gina is even here, and Bo says he thinks she is here to steal the last Rennet. Greta fears that if they don't save Hope soon, DiMera will destroy her just like her mother.

Gina/Hope is wondering what happened to the real Gina. She fears Stefano might do to her what he did to the real Gina. Someone rings the door and Gina thinks it is Bo, but it is Stefano! Stefano is surprised that she actually followed his intrusions and came here. They argue about her betrayal of him and her supposedly making up for it on the sub. Stefano looks around and says this house is a disaster.

Gina tells him that someone was looking for something, his security system failed. Gina says a number things are missing as well. Stefano asks like what, and Gina says her candlesticks for one thing. He wonders why they mean so much to her, and Gina says being in this house has stirred up memories for her, memories with him. Gina is of course lying, she is thinking of John. Stefano tells her they have more important things to talk about, such as the reason he saved her life instead of getting rid of her like he should have.

They argue some more about her betrayal and Stefano says unlike the real Gina, she does not have a will of her own because she is his creation and will do what he tells her to do. Gina asks or what, I'll end up like the real Princess who went to her grave because she lost her true love? Stefano screams that the real Princess Gina lost John for the same reason she did, he did not belong to either one of them because he was his creation!

Gina says now he belongs to Marlena, but Stefano says John would be here now if it wasn't for her selfishness. Stefano says he turned John back into Marlena's husband forever, and she has no one to blame but herself. Gina says it is not to late, but Stefano says he will never trust her near John again. Gina still asks for John to be brought back, but Stefano says that John is dead and buried, and she will finish the job alone, and will follow his orders to the letter. He warns her that if she betrays her again, he has the means to ensure her total loyalty and complete obedience.

8/4 In Paris at La Roulette, Greta tells Eric and Bo that Stefano doesn't want them to find out what happened to her mother. Bo tells her not to worry, they will find the answer to those questions. Bo suggests they head over to the Faversham bank and see if they can open the box. Greta says she thought he said they couldn't get access to it, but Bo thinks she can persuade them to let her have access.

Bo, Eric, and Greta go to the Faversham bank and are allowed access to the box. Greta opens it and they are shocked by what they see. The box is filled with cash and passports for John and Gina. Bo says this is an escape kit, everything John and Gina needed to escape from Stefano. Greta looks through the papers and finds a deed to the Paris house, and another one for a country estate that is the ancestral home of the Von Ambergs willed to her mother by a prince. Bo ends up leaving after receiving a call from "Hope," and Greta and Eric decide to drive to the country home.

At the castle, Gina is screaming for Kurt, axe in hand. Gina says she will show him who is in charge when Kurt returns. The door knob to her room turns, and Gina hurls the axe at the door. The axe misses Kurt and Gina screams at Kurt for leaving. Kurt says he went to the Paris house as she instructed, but Gina wants to know why he was gone so long. Kurt says that there are strangers living in the house as if they belong there.

Gina asks if one of them was a man? Kurt says yes, a rugged American. Gina thinks it is John, but he says it was not John. He also says that there was a glamorous woman there with him, but he didn't get a look at her face. Gina wants to meet these people and asks him to take her to Paris. Kurt tries to convince her that is a bad idea, but she wants to go. Kurt refuses and decides to leave her with some peace and quiet, but Gina vows to get to Paris and meet her house guests.

At the Paris house, Gina/Hope tells Stefano that she hopes he can trust her again one day. Stefano tells her that if he learns she has betrayed him again, her life as Gina will come to an abrupt and painful end. Gina assures him that she won't betray him again, she is completely his. Stefano says as long as you accept that you will never have John, and she says she knows. Stefano says John is happily married to Marlena and does not remember the sub at all. Gina mentions their night together, and Stefano says that for now his desires will be satisfied by owning the final Rennet.

Gina says there is a small problem, Bo Brady is here in Paris. Stefano is furious, but Gina says he wasn't nearly as annoying as usual and acted like a man of the world. Stefano thinks that perhaps Bo could be useful to him. Gina asks what he is thinking, and Stefano says Bo could be her new partner. Stefano asks Gina to call Bo, but Gina says it won't work. Stefano tells her to make it work.

Gina calls Bo, who is still at the bank, and asks him to come see her right away. Bo says he is on his way. Stefano tells Gina that she did well, Bo Brady is in for the surprise of his life. Gina asks what she is supposed to do, and Stefano asks her turn Bo into his newest Pawn. Gina says she cannot do that, but Stefano says she can and she will. The doorbell rings, and Stefano tells Gina not to betray him again. Gina answers the door and Bo asks what is up?

8/5 At the country estate, Kurt reads John's letter to Gina again. It tells her to wait at the estate for John to return. Gina hope that today she will have visitors. She becomes excited when she spots a car coming up the driveway and guesses that it's John. Actually, it is Greta and Eric, who have finally made it.

"Hope" invites Bo in to the Paris house. She begins to question him, asking if Eric and Greta were with him when she called. He says that in fact, they were and they have some news. Greta found a key in the compact that opened a safety deposit box. Bo corners Gina into admitting that she always had the original compact, which she does not deny.

Bo continues, saying that they found phony passports, money and deeds to two houses in the box. Gina is stunned to learn about the second home. Bo then drops the bombshell, he knows that she is not Hope but Princess Gina. She tries to deny it, but Bo says he knows in his heart because every time he holds her, or looks into her eyes, he does not see Hope. Gina does not know what to say, but Bo vows that he is going to bring her back to the Hope that he loves.

8/6 At the Paris house, Bo angrily tells Hope that the real Princess Gina is dead and that Hope's posing as Gina is simply a creation of Stefano's. "Hope" is outraged that Bo would think this, but he disregards her charade and urges her to use the strength that he knows she has to fight Stefano.

"Hope" looks like she's going to crack, but then gets angry again and orders Bo to get out of the house and go back to Salem. Of course he refuses. Realizing that he can't yell his way through to Hope, he switches tactics and pulls a picture out of his wallet. He shows it to Gina, it’s a picture of Hope and Shawn D. the day he was born. Hope recalls that day, and Bo sees that Hope reacted to the picture. The doorbell rings and Hope goes to answer it.

Stefano is pleased that Rolf has set up his laboratory in Paris and the final stages are in place to turn Bo into Stefano's newest pawn. Rolf is distressed, and wishes that Stefano would just eliminate Bo. Stefano is appalled at the notion and says that the potion that Rolf has concocted will do the trick, once Gina administers it. Rolf laughs at the notion that Gina will do anything Stefano says, but Steffie is quick to reply that he's put fear into Gina's mind, so she will not betray him ever again. With the potion ready, Stefano sends it to Gina.

Gina answers the door and is greeted by a courier. The package is the bottle of potion (in a perfume bottle) with a note instructing her to slip the potion into Bo's drink and then contact Stefano when that has happened. Bo asks Gina who was at the door.

The Real Princess Gina is convinced it's John at the gate, but sees that it is a man and woman. She then thinks they are friends of hers from Paris and wants to go meet them. Kurt orders Gina to stay where she is, he will check the guests out. Gina looks like she is going to fight back, but says okay. At the window, she thinks the woman looks familiar.

At the gate, Kurt refuses to open it for Eric and Greta. Greta tries the nice approach, saying she is Princess Gina's daughter. Kurt is taken aback, but quickly covers and says that now is not a good time. Eric decides the nice approach is not working and says that Greta legally owns the villa and to let them in. He even shows Kurt the deed. Kurt becomes suspicious and says that they are just trying to rob the place.

Eric starts questioning Kurt, wondering who hired him and who pays the bills. Greta asks if it was Stefano DiMera? Kurt's eyes widen at the mention of the name, but he tells the two that he's never heard of Stefano.

8/9 Eric gets tough with Kurt and says they are coming in the castle now! Kurt asks why he should believe she is Gina's daughter. Greta shows him her passport, and the deed. Eric threatens to call the authorities, so Kurt allows them inside. Eric tells Kurt that they aren't leaving until all their questions about Princess Gina are answered.

Up in her room, one of the Real Gina's imaginary friends pays her a visit, but when Gina tries to embrace her, she vanishes and Gina looks puzzled. Gina thinks her friend is hiding from her, and looks around her room. She looks out the window and realizes that Kurt must have let the visitors in.

Kurt returns and she asks him, if someone is here? Kurt says nobody is here, the visitors left after they got directions. Gina says in that case she will be going out, but Kurt says it is supposed to rain. Gina tells him that is nonsense, but Kurt locks her in her room. Gina begins to wonder what is going on. She sees the car outside and thinks John has come for her, but finds her door is locked.

Rolf and Stefano are discussing whether or not Gina will feed Bo the potion, which will make Bo susceptible to mind control. Rolf says that Stefano seems tense, and he asks Stefano if he is starting to believe he has completely lost control of Gina? Stefano is sure they can trust Gina.

At the Paris house, Bo asks Gina/Hope what the messenger delivered. Gina tells him that it is her favorite perfume she special ordered. Gina claims to be thirsty and asks him to join her in a drink. Bo wants to know why she is being so nice to him all of the sudden. Gina says she might as well make him comfortable if he is going to stay. Bo accepts the drink, which Gina spikes.

They talk about Shawn D, Gina tells Bo that if Shawn D wants to come home he can, she just wants to see him happy. Bo tells Gina that he wants to see her happy. Gina knows that, and Bo tells her that DiMera can't make her happy. Gina says she wasn't looking to him for happiness. Bo says once they were close, possibly even lovers.

Gina remembers seducing Stefano on the sub and becomes upset. Bo begins to feel woozy and ends up passing out. The doorbell rings, and it is Stefano and Rolf. Stefano is pleased that Gina did what he told her to do, and tells Rolf that it is show time. Bo is set up in front of a computer terminal with a pair of earphones to be brainwashed. Stefano says he has not been this delighted since he captured Roman, and he has his precious Gina to thank for it. Gina is obviously unhappy about this, but tries to hide it from Stefano. Stefano says Bo will never be a true Brady again. Bo's brainwashing is completed, and Stefano says they have to put Bo to the test.

8/10 Gina tries frantically to escape her room because she thinks her visitors are John. Gina runs around her room to find something to wear, and tells a portrait of John that they will be together and then with Greta they will escape from Stefano. Gina puts on some make-up and says it will feel so good to be in John's arms again.

Kurt goes to see Gina, and asks her why she is all dressed up? Gina says she knows John is here and wants to see him. Kurt says John isn't here, but Gina yells "you're lying!" and demands to be taken to see her visitors. When Kurt refuses, Gina says she will take herself. Kurt tells Gina that he cannot allow her to leave this room!

Stefano tells Gina that he is going to test Bo's loyalty and obedience. Gina asks what will happen to Bo after his indoctrination is complete? Stefano says he will use him to get his revenge on the Brady's once and for all! Stefano asks Bo to stand up, which Bo does. Stefano starts playing with Bo's face to make sure he isn't faking, and eventually tells Bo "at ease soldier."

Rolf says that it worked perfectly, and Stefano says they have Gina to thank. Gina realizes that Rolf had his doubts about her. Gina says its not like she had nothing to gain from this, she finally has Bo off her back. Stefano says she no longer needs to worry about Bo, he is now one of his creations, just like John was. Rolf explains to Gina that as long as Bo is fed the serum and watches the brainwashing computer program, he will remain a pawn, and eventually the old Bo will be fully erased and can never return.

Rolf and Stefano leave to talk about the "test" and Gina tries unsuccessfully to get through to Bo. Stefano and Rolf return and Stefano orders Bo to go with Rolf, which Bo does. Gina asks Stefano if he is going to use Bo to help her steal the last Rennet. Stefano says yes, and much more! Gina wants to know about his plans for the Bradys, but Stefano tells her that it is better that she not know.

Gina, Stefano, and Rolf go outside and Stefano tells Gina that she is about to see the new Bo Brady. Stefano blows a dog whistle, and Bo, who is dressed up like a mime, begins to do a routine for the people watching him. Stefano and Rolf think it is funny, but Gina is not laughing one bit.

8/11 Stefano tells Rolf how happy he is with Bo's indoctrination, and soon he will follow his orders to the letter. Rolf says is too bad they can't say the same about Gina. Stefano tells him that Gina has learned her lesson.

Meanwhile, Gina watches Bo perform his mime act and realizes Bo is nothing but a machine, and wonders if that is what she is too. Gina wonders what fate Stefano has in store for him. Gina tells Bo to blink three times if he can hear her, but he does not blink, he only performs his mime routine.

Later, Gina asks Bo if he can understand her. He says yes, and when Gina asks if he understands what is happening? Bo responds that he is in training for his mission.

Gina asks Stefano if this is how he trains all his creations? Stefano says no, and they tested her in more appropriate ways in regards to her talents. Stefano says the next test for Bo is to see if he is willing to risk his life. Stefano tells Bo to close his eyes and walk across the street! Gina is shocked and says he will be killed, but Stefano says his odds are fifty-fifty. Stefano tells Bo to go, and he crosses the street with his eyes closed. As he does, cars wiz by, screech, and honk.

Bo makes it across, and turns around and comes back when Stefano blows his whistle. Stefano and Rolf applaud Bo. Gina is not, and tells Stefano that Bo could have been killed, what would he have done then? Stefano says he would have found a suitable replacement for him immediately, the world is filled with potential pawns. Stefano tells Gina that she is not unique. Gina remembers Bo asking her what DiMera will do with her when he's finished with her? Bo told her that he could save her by bringing Hope back, but Gina thinks it might be to late for both of them.

8/12 Stefano orders that Bo make him a drink and he does it in robot fashion. Gina observes that Stefano is enjoying this given his hatred for the Bradys. Hope questions couldn’t Stefano had found a better use for Bo’s talents? Stefano sweeps her into his arms and gives her a passionate kiss as a further test as Bo Brady would have strangled him for touching his beloved Hope. Gina asks Rolf how long before the potion wears off? Rolf says nothing to worry about as long as she keeps giving him the potion. He also points out that she has already betrayed Stefano once, and if she does it again that her fate will be even worse than Princess Gina’s!

The real Princess Gina is irate that Kurt won’t allow her to have visitors in her own home. She determines if he won’t open the door for her, then she will just do it herself and rushes to the door to get out before he can stop her.
