DVD #43A 12/31 Gina is getting into her gown as Lily and Greta help her. Gina's gown is white, but looks like a royal snow queens robes and is accompanied by a crown. When Julie and Doug show up they are taken aback, and Julie comments that her gown looks like something Princess Gina would wear. That comment doesn't amuse Gina one bit. As Doug and Julie discus the fact that this is not their "Hope," Gina gets ticked off and tells them both to leave for the church right now, without her! They are shocked, but decide to leave.
Out in the hall, Doug and Julie run into Marlena, who has come to have it out with "Hope" and try and convince her once again not to do this. Marlena goes into see "Hope," and the two get into a huge argument. Shawn shows up, after being convinced by Bo to tell his "mother" that he believes this wedding will be good for her, and hears Gina telling Marlena to stay out of her life.
Marlena leaves, and when "Hope" finds Shawn waiting to see her at her door, she tells him not now and slams the door in his face! Shawn tells Doug and Julie that they have to find his dad and stop this wedding. Doug and Julie run into Bo in Salem Place and ask him not to go through with this wedding, but Bo won't listen to them and insists on marrying "Hope."
Greta returns to see her mother after all her confrontations with various people, and she finds her mother strapping on a gun! She is shocked, but Gina insists it is only in case Stefano shows up and tries to ruin things. Later, Gina looks at herself in the mirror and the evil Gina appears. She tells herself that she will let nobody interfere with this wedding, she has killed before and she will kill again if necessary!
In France, Stefano finishes his radio and makes a device which will send an SOS signal to the radio station the radio is tuned to. He tells Hope that all they need is for the disc jockey to pick up the signal. As Stefano radios for help, Hope prays Bo will rescue her.
1/4/00 Roman comes to see Bo, who is getting ready for his wedding. Roman thanks Bo for asking him to be his best man because it means a lot to him. Roman asks him if Victor will be here? Bo says no because he thought it might be uncomfortable for Shawn and Caroline. Roman wishes Bo luck, and then heads out into the church. Bo looks up at the heavens and asks God to help Hope recover and bury the memories of Princess Gina.
Shawn tells Doug and Julie that they have to stop this wedding. Doug and Julie ask him what happened? Shawn tells them about "Hope" and Marlena's fight at the Salem Inn, and he thinks his mom is nuts! Julie tells Shawn that they tried to talk his father into delaying this wedding, but he won't. Shawn tells them that with or without their help, he will stop this wedding! Shawn takes off, and Doug follows him.
Gina looks at her dress and says it is magnificent. Greta tells her mother that it is wonderful, but it isn't something Hope would have worn. Greta warns her mother that she can't keep being two different people, but Gina thinks Bo won't care who she is when they are married. Greta sees her mother's gun and begs her to put it away, but she insists it is for protection.
Alice shows up to see "Hope" and gives her the earrings she wore when she married Bo the first time. Gina reacts oddly to them, and Alice asks her if she remembers? We see a flashback of Alice giving the earrings to Hope, and Alice asks "Hope" if she remembers who showed up? "Hope" says it was so long ago. Alice tells her that her Grandfather came in. "Hope" says it is too bad he couldn't be here today, but Alice says he is here in their hearts.
Alice decides to get back into the church, and Gina admires the earrings. Greta scolds her mother for treating Mrs. Horton like a stranger, but Gina says she has more important things to deal with. Doug, Julie, Marlena, and Shawn all show up to see "Hope," and Doug asks Greta to excuse them. "Hope" tells Greta to stay.
"Hope" thinks Marlena has come to cause trouble again, but Shawn says this was his idea. Shawn tells "Hope" about his special relationship with his father, and how much his father has taught him. Shawn tells "Hope" that even though he's turned his back on his dad these past few weeks, his dad never gave up on him. "Hope" says his dad is a wonderful man, and she loves him. Shawn asks her to postpone this wedding if she really loves him as much as she says she does.
Doug tells his "Princess" that he treasures her, but Stefano has hurt both her and Bo. He tells her that he knows she wants to remarry Bo, but he believes she should wait until she is fully recovered from the traumas Stefano inflicted on her. Julie tells "Hope" that Bo will always be there for her, even if she decides to wait. "Hope" tells Marlena that this is all her fault! Shawn says he heard her yelling at Marlena earlier, and that is not like his mother.
Marlena assures "Hope" that she loves her and wants what is best for her. Greta tells "Hope" that they are right, she can't marry Bo tonight. "Hope" says that her heart is breaking because the people she loves the most are trying to stop her from doing what will make her feel well. She tells them all that she needs to marry Bo, and Bo will allow her to recover on her own time table and not theirs. She accuses them all of ruining the happiest day of her life because they are selfish.
Bo knocks on the door and asks "Hope" if she's changed her mind? "Hope" tells Bo that she will be there, so Bo leaves. "Hope" asks Doug if she will walk down the isle alone? Doug approaches her and gives her his arm, and they head out the door. Julie tells Shawn to put on his tux and a great big smile, perhaps his father's love will heal "Hope."
Rolf, still dressed as an Italian priest, arrives at the church. Rolf hides behind some curtains and is armed with a gun, and plans on killing John before midnight so he doesn’t remember being with Gina.
Everyone returns to their seats as the wedding is about to begin. John's cut is still bleeding, and he suddenly becomes a bit woozy. Marlena worries about him. The wedding begins, as Greta walks down the isle. Everyone stands as Doug walks "Hope" down the isle, and John begins to suddenly have flashbacks of being shocked in the waters in Hawaii. As the priest begins to speak, John remembers being on the sub with Hope/Gina, and making love to her. John stands up and suddenly blurts out "I gotta say something!"
From behind the curtain, Rolf realizes John remembers, so he aims his gun at John's back. John mumbles for a bit, but then just says "lets get on with this wedding." John sits down. Bo and "Hope" say the traditional vows, and as they do, John continues to remember more about what happened in Hawaii.
Just as John gets memories of sleeping with Gina, he stands up to stop the wedding. The chip falls out, and he makes an excuse and sits back down. Rolf later retrieves the chip. When John slaps his neck, the chip falls out! Bo and "Hope" are pronounced man and wife. Rolf quickly slips out from behind the curtain and grabs the chip, and they makes a run for it. Belle asks Shawn if he is okay? Shawn asks how could he be, his dad just made the biggest mistake of his life.
Hope finds her old escape route, which has been sealed up. She wonders if she can reopen it, so she goes to work. Suddenly, Hope is overcome with a feeling that Bo is in trouble, and something bad is happening in Salem. Stefano continues to send an SOS, but the disk jockey at the radio station is sleeping and doesn't hear it.
1/5 Everyone has gathered for Bo and "Hope's" reception, but nobody is in the mood to celebrate. Julie and Shawn compare notes about trying to stop the wedding until Hope was more herself. Roman announces the couple to a smattering of applause.
1/6 At the wedding reception, Bo doesn't look very happy and Doug and Julie among others notice this fact. He admits to having uneasy feelings about the situation. John asks "Hope" to dance. He tells her that he knows what happened between the two of them while he and Marlena were on their honeymoon. He says that she knows what happened too.
She plays dumb and swears that she doesn't know what he is talking about. She says she has no memory of the time that she was Princess Gina. He has a flashback remembering everything and he doesn't believe that she is telling him the truth. How right he is!! He vows that no one can find out about him and Hope making love on the submarine while he and Marlena were on their honeymoon.
Meanwhile, Bo and Marlena are dancing. He tells Marlena that he feels like he married a stranger and that he has a sense that HIS Hope is in danger. Marlena tells him that Shawn asked her for her help in getting "Hope" to cancel the wedding before it ever happened. She told him that her and others tried to get "Hope" to call it off but she refused. Marlena is also worried about John's strange behavior and she is determined to find out what is bothering him.
Shawn and Belle steal Lili's phone and use it to try to figure out who "Hope" was talking to. With Belle pretending to be his mother she dials and Kurt answers and he calls her "Princess." She is stunned. Shawn tells her that proves his mother still believes that she is Princess Gina.
Lili catches Shawn and Belle with her phone and demands to know what is going on. Shawn talks their way out of the situation. Lili is satisfied with his explanation. She leaves them alone. Belle tells Shawn that she is done helping him because he is nothing but trouble and she doesn't want to be involved.
Princess Gina tells Lili that she had hoped this wedding would bring her and Bo closer but she feels that he is now more distant than ever. She is very worried about her future with Bo. Lili fears that everyone is going to figure out that "Hope" is really Princess Gina.
She tells Princess Gina that they should leave now and return to Paris. Princess Gina agrees but tells Lili that she must take care of certain "someone's" first. She will let Lili know when she is ready. Shawn has heard their entire conversation.
In Europe, the real Hope is praying for Bo to rescue her and bring her home safely. She then has a sense that Shawn is in danger. Someone picked up Stefano's SOS signal but then they lost connection because of a burnt wire. He later fixed the problem.
Princess Gina asks Shawn to go outside to the terrace with her so that she can explain what it is that he thinks he overheard. Once they are outside he tells her that he will not allow her to hurt his father or anyone else in his family. He tells her that she needs to go back into therapy with Marlena. She tells him that Marlena can't help her, no one can. Only she can help herself she says.
She then pulls a gun on Shawn and tells him to get up on the ledge. They are 20 floors up he tells her. If he wants to protect his father he will do as she says she tells him. "You're nuts" he tells her. After he gets up on the ledge, she tells him that he must jump or she will shoot him. She tells him that if he jumps it will be ruled accidental if he doesn't then she will have to shoot him and then shoot his father so that she can make her escape.
She tells him that he has to jump in order to save his father's life. He says, "Mom, I know you think you are Princess Gina..." She tells him, "I do not THINK I am Princess Gina...I AM GINA!!" Everyone is wondering where "Hope" and Shawn have disappeared to. Princess Gina fires her gun. The bullet hits the cement ledge and Shawn falls!! Marlena comes across the two of them and sees what has happened. She screams "NO!!" Princess Gina turns around and aims at Marlena and says, "You're next!"
1/7 Bo is busy looking for "Hope," and Belle is looking for Shawn. They are both worried as neither has been seen for some time. Belle finds Mrs. Horton and asks if she has seen Shawn? Alice says no, so Belle fills her in on the phone call they made and how Shawn disappeared afterwards. Alice tells Belle not to worry because she'll get to the bottom of this.
John is busy worrying about Marlena and realizes that he can't let her find out that he and "Hope" made love, so he decides to find her and get her out of here. John and Bo run into one another and decide to look for Marlena and "Hope" together, thinking that they are probably together.
Lily tells Greta that Gina has realized the marriage isn't working and she's agreed to leave Salem and return to Europe. Lily wants Greta to return to Europe with them to help her mother recover, but Greta doesn't look very thrilled about the idea of leaving Salem.
Alice, with Belle by her side, confronts Lily about "Hope's" call on her cell phone earlier. Alice demands to know why the man "Hope" called called her Princess? Lily says she has no idea what is going on, but then she soon realizes that Belle and Shawn did steal her purse and phone. Alice says what happened doesn't matter, what matters is who "Hope" was talking to and why he called her Princess.
Lily tells Alice that she hasn't the foggiest idea, and the last thing "Hope" needs right now is an intrusive grandmother! Alice tells Lily that she is the intruder here and her acting like "Hope's" bodyguard has got to stop. Alice tells Lily to get out of her granddaughter's life and go back to wherever it is she came from! Lily tells her that is exactly what she intents to do.
On the balcony, Marlena witnesses Gina shoot at Shawn's feet, causing him to fall over the edge, and then Gina points the gun at Marlena and tells her that she is next! Marlena can't believe she killed Shawn, but Gina tells her that this is her fault for not shutting her mouth and minding her own business!
Gina tells Marlena that she plans on killing her as well, but she doesn't know how to explain their deaths. However, she soon comes up with a grand excuse. She will tell them that Shawn was depressed and threatened to jump, and when Marlena showed up and tried to help. Unfortunately Shawn jumped, and took her with him!
Gina tells Marlena that everyone will believe her and feel so sorry for her that they will stop questioning her about being Gina. Gina then orders Marlena to jump off the ledge. John and Bo show up and spot the two out on the balcony. Out on the balcony, Marlena tells Gina that she won't jump, so if she wants her dead, she'll have to shoot her!
John goes out to talk to "Hope" and asks her to give him the gun. Gina calls John a pathetic hero. John suggests they talk and work this out, but Gina says Marlena has destroyed her future with Bo and she must pay for it! Marlena tries to tell John about Shawn, but Gina warns her that if she doesn't shut up then she will shoot the both of them. As they talk, Bo tries to find a way to sneak up on "Hope."
Gina tells John that if he had just loved her none of this would have happened, but he chose Marlena. She tells John that he cannot save her, and he cannot save Marlena! Gina aims the gun at Marlena, and a little "ptew" sound occurs. John runs to Marlena and screams, "What have you done!" Suddenly, Bo springs out and wrestles with Gina in order to get the gun from her. Suddenly we hear another "ptew" sound, and Bo realizes that "Hope" has been shot. Roman, Lexie, and Abe show up, and Abe calls for an ambulance. Marlena is out cold after being hit. Gina has been hit also and is bleeding.
Nobody has noticed that Shawn has fallen to the ledge below and is unconscious and in danger of falling a lot farther to the street. John carries Marlena inside, and Belle freaks when she learns her mom has been shot. Bo brings "Hope" inside, and tells everyone that she shot Marlena, and then when he lunged for the gun it went off and she shot herself. Marlena comes to and tries to tell everyone about Shawn. They think that she is talking about her purse falling off the terrace, so Belle says she'll go look for it.
Belle goes outside and she hears Shawn moaning. She looks over the ledge and screams when she sees Shawn lying there. She yells at him to wake up and listen to her because he's in danger of falling. Suddenly, Shawn begins to move, and a leg and arm dangles over the edge.
Back inside, Lexie works on "Hope," but says that she is losing too much blood. The ambulance arrives for Hope, and Bo begs God not to let "Hope" die. Lexie yells that "Hope" has no pulse and screams for the paddles.
Marlena mumbles to everyone that Shawn fell off the terrace, so Roman and John race outside. Belle begs her dad to do something. Roman yells at Shawn not to move because they are coming down to get him. Suddenly, Shawn begins to roll!
In France, Stefano tells Hope that she needs to calm down because he has made contact with the outside world and he'll keep sending the signal until they are rescued. Hope thinks by then it might be too late, so she grabs a big old metal bust to throw at the window, but it doesn't even scratch it. Stefano tells Hope that the window is loaded with lead and not even dynamite could break it!
Suddenly, Hope breaks down when she senses that Shawn has fallen from someplace very high. Stefano holds Hope and comforts her as she becomes weak in the knees. Hope tries to pull herself together, and Stefano tells her that she has to get a grip or she will hurt herself. He even says he'll tie her up if he has to! When she lashes out at him, she accidentally knocks his radio off the table and smashes it!
1/10 John climbs over the ledge, and Roman lowers him down to Shawn as Belle watches. John gets down to Shawn and keeps him from falling off. John tells Roman and Belle that Shawn is breathing, but he's freezing and is all banged up. Shawn asks John where his dad is? The paramedics show up and send down a stretcher for Shawn. John and Shawn make it back up to the terrace, and Shawn is examined by the paramedics before being taken to the
hospital.
"Hope" has flatlined and Lexie is working with the paddles to bring her back. Bo asks God not to let her die on him. "Hope" manages to survive, and Alice thinks that God is listening to their prayers. Lexie takes "Hope" out to the ambulance, and Bo decides to go with her. Grandpa Shawn tells Bo not to worry because they will find Shawn for him.
Greta begins to cry, and Eric comforts her. He is shocked when she says that she can't lose her mother! Eric tells Greta that "Hope" was shot, not her mother. Marlena watches them suspiciously. Eric tells Greta that they should go to the hospital and he wants Marlena to go too, but Marlena wants to wait to find out what happened to Shawn.
Suddenly, Belle runs in and tells everyone that John rescued Shawn and he's being taken to the hospital. Marlena agrees to go to the hospital to be checked out, so Eric goes to get the car. Marlena then confronts Greta and says "You knew about this all along didn't you?" Greta tells Marlena that they are wasting their time and should be at the hospital with "Hope."
"Hope" is taken to the hospital and Lexie and Craig take care of her. Bo, Doug, and Julie all wait in the waiting room for news on her condition. Doug asks Bo how this happened? Bo says he doesn't understand himself, he didn't realize she was so far gone. Craig comes out and tells the family that "Hope" is worse than they thought and she is being prepped for surgery.
Eric, Greta, and Marlena show up and learn "Hope" has been taken to surgery. John, Belle, and Shawn also show up. Eric asks if anyone has seen Bo? Alice says that Bo has gone off to be alone, but Marlena and Eric think Bo should know about Shawn. Grandpa Shawn refuses to allow anyone else to add to Bo's pain until they know more about Shawn's condition.
Lily shows up to comfort Greta, which causes Marlena to become even more suspicious of Greta. Marlena talks with Eric, and Eric asks Marlena if Greta said anything to explain why she is acting like this? Marlena tells him that she didn't. Marlena then hears Doug wondering how this happened to Shawn. Marlena wonders how she can tell them what "Hope" did. Alice tells Doug that they will get answers soon, and she suggests they all pray.
Bo goes off to be by himself, and he thinks about marrying the real Hope the first time. He also remembers other various moments, such as their balloon flight. Back in the OR, the doctors work on "Hope" and one nurse comments that she's a dead woman. Lexie is furious with her for saying such a thing, but the nurse says it is the truth. Suddenly, the monitors beep and a nurse shouts that they are losing her.
Stefano is still working on repairing his radio and tells Hope that she must be very proud of herself for ruining their only chance of getting out of here. Hope apologizes to him, but Stefano tells her to just stay out of his way from now on so he can try to fix this. Hope tells Stefano to hurry up because they have to get out of here. Stefano reminds her that she broke their only means to communicate with the outside world! Stefano tells Hope that he isn't blessed with her telepathic powers, so he would like her to shut up so he can continue to work. Stefano thinks he has fixed the radio, so Hope tells him to send the signal.
Suddenly, Hope hears something from behind the secret passage. She looks into the wall and shouts, "You!" It is Kurt. He gives them some more food through the hole Hope dug, which he then covered with a metal plate. Hope asks for some oil of some sorts for her skin because it is very dry. Kurt closes the escape hatch and decides to go back to the kitchen.
On his way down the steps, Kurt calls the princess' phone, but gets an out of access message. Kurt brings Hope her olive oil, and when he puts his hand through the hole to give it to Hope, Stefano grabs his arms and warns him to give him the keys or he'll rip his arm out of his socket!
1/11 Lily comforts Greta, who is worrying about her mother. Greta tells Lily that they shouldn't have let this happen. Lily tells Greta that there was nothing they could do about it.
Marlena and John talk to Doug and Julie about Shawn. Doug says that Grandpa Shawn went to look for Bo, but he still feels that he shouldn't be told about Shawn until they know more about his condition.
Grandpa Shawn finds Bo sitting in the hallway. He tells Bo that Hope is still in the operating room. Bo realizes Shawn doesn't know what has happened. Grandpa Shawn tells him that Shawn is here. Bo says he has to find him and talk to him, but G-Shawn tells him to wait for a second. Bo ignores his dad and runs off to find Shawn.
Bo shows up and finds Doug and Julie with Marlena and John. Marlena decides to ignore Grandpa Shawn's advice and insists they tell Bo about Shawn. Grandpa Shawn tells Bo about Shawn's bad fall. Before they can tell him what happened, a doctor shows up and tells Bo that they have been able to determine the extent of Shawn's injury.
The doctor says Shawn will recover, he is just experiencing numbness in his legs due to swelling of the spine. Bo wants to see his son, so the doctor takes him to him. Bo sits next to Shawn's bed and thanks God that he's going to be okay. Shawn comes to and asks his dad why he's so upset?
Bo tells Shawn that he's in the hospital, but he will be fine. Bo asks Shawn how he fell? Shawn just says that he keeps falling asleep and waking up, and that everything is hazy. A nurse tells Bo that he has to go and let Shawn get some rest, so Bo leaves.
Doug thinks Lily might have the answers to why "Hope" has been behaving like Princess Gina. Julie tells Lily that she seemed to encourage "Hope" to pretend to be Princess Gina. Lily says she had no idea she was so unbalanced and that she believed her past would disappear if she married Bo. Lily cries that she only wanted "Hope" to have the happiness that had eluded her for so long. Marlena interrupts and says that "Hope" did a good job of fooling almost everyone. Lily says she is sorry, but Grandpa Shawn says it is a little late for that. Lily decides to leave, but asks someone to call her if there is any change. John whispers to Marlena that he knows she knew the truth as well, but couldn't say anything.
Bo comes back out and tells them that Shawn is fine. He also apologizes to his family, especially Doug and Julie, for what happened. Doug tells Bo that he understands what happened with the gun, but he doesn't understand why she would want to kill Marlena. Bo thinks he knows why. Bo says the person responsible for making "Hope" go crazy is Marlena! Bo tells Marlena that she knew what was going on inside "Hope's" head and that she was more Gina than herself, but she continued to push her to remember her life as Gina.
Bo asks Marlena why didn't she tell him how nuts "Hope" was, if she had then none of this would have happened! John tells Bo to calm down, but Bo says that he just put a bullet in his wife and it could have been prevented if Marlena had told him the truth. Marlena says she tried talking to "Hope," and she couldn't break the rules.
Bo tells her to forget the rules, she should have helped her friend. Marlena says she did what she could, but Bo says it wasn't enough. Bo says Shawn also knew the truth and tried to warn him, but she knew more and did nothing! Grandpa Shawn tells Bo to stop this, but he continues to attack Marlena. Marlena and John decide to go to her office, and G-Shawn tells Bo that this isn't Marlena's fault. Bo says it is, and he will never forgive Marlena if "Hope" dies.
In France, Kurt passes Hope's oil to her through the passage, and when he does, Stefano grabs his arm and threatens to break his arm out of his socket if he doesn't give them the keys. Kurt eventually agrees to pass them through, but stabs Stefano with the key and manages to get his arm free from him. Kurt yells at them to make the most of what he gave them because it will be a cold day in hell before they get anything else from him! Stefano finds a scarf to bandage his hand with, and Hope helps him. Stefano thanks her for helping him.
In the secret passage, Kurt tells himself, and Stefano and Hope, that they can rot in that turret forever! Stefano returns to working on his radio, but one of the wires are too frayed to make contact. Hope offers Stefano her bracelet because she broke it, so she should contribute to getting it working again. Stefano thanks her and says once they are out of here she can return to hating him to her heart's content. Hope believes that the bracelet, which is a symbol of her and Bo's love, will help set her free.
1/12 Out on the terrace, Doug and Julie try to talk some sense into Bo. They tell him that Marlena tried to help him and "Hope," and she even tried to get them to postpone their wedding. Bo still won't listen to reason and says that Marlena cared more about her doctor- patient confidentiality than she did about "Hope." Suddenly, Grandpa Shawn comes out and tells them that Craig and Lexie need to talk to them.
They go inside and Bo asks them to tell him how "Hope" is. Craig says that "Hope" survived, but her condition is grave. Lexie tells him that the bullet caused a lot of damage, and Craig says it would take a miracle for "Hope" to survive. Doug asks to see his daughter, but Craig says "Hope" has been asking to see Bo. Bo decides to go see her. He also tells Bo not to give up on "Hope."
"Hope" is alive, but thinks Shawn is dead. A nurse tells her that Shawn is in the hospital and will make a full recovery. She remembers shooting Marlena, and wonders what she's done. Bo comes to see "Hope," and he sits by her bed. "Hope" asks about Shawn, but Bo says he hasn't talked to him yet. Bo tells her that Shawn will probably run down here to see her. "Hope" asks about Marlena, and Bo tells her that she is fine, the bullet just grazed her forehead. Bo tells her that Doug and Julie are here waiting to see her, and they are all here to help her get well. "Hope" looks at Bo and tells him that she's dying.
"Hope" tells Bo that she has something to tell him. She says that she knows how much he wanted his Fancyface back, and she tried to be everything he wanted. She goes on to say that taking her to the high school dance made her feel fifteen again, and he looked at her with such love in his eyes. She also says that by making love to her he gave her the most extraordinary gift that she will always remember.
Bo tells her that they will have a long and happy life together full of memories. "Hope" then turns to Bo and says that he still has Hope. Bo says he married Hope Williams Brady, and she is a strong woman. "Hope" tells Bo that he doesn't understand. Suddenly, Gina starts going into shock.
Doug and Julie go to visit Shawn, as does Grandpa Shawn. Julie and Doug ask him what he means about his mother trying to kill him? Shawn explains to them what he remembers, how he investigated his "mother," the horrible things she said about him to Lily, and how she made him fall off the ledge at the Penthouse Grill by shooting at his feet. Doug breaks down, and Shawn gets out of bed to comfort his grandpa.
1/13 In Europe Hope tells Stefano that he had better make contact with someone to get them out or they are going to die in the turret. Later, he gets a response to his SOS signal.
At the hospital, Bo tells Roman how frightened he is that "Hope " may die. The doctor and nurses are in her room working on her doing their best to keep her alive. The doctor tells Bo that they stabilized "Hope." He says that the prognosis is the same, she is still critical. Shawn's grandfathers go to Bo and tell him that "Hope" tried to kill her own son, his son!! Bo is stunned.
Bo has flashbacks of Shawn's birth and homecoming. He tells Roman about it and says he doesn't understand how they got from that place to where they are now. Roman tells him to keep the faith and be strong for "Hope." He asks Roman what type of mental illness could cause a mother to want to kill her own son, her proudest accomplishment? Roman has no answer.
Doug offers to stay with “Hope” while Bo goes to be with Shawn. While Doug is in with “Hope”, he remembers her birth and how he and her mother, Addie, chose her name. He tells "Hope" about it. He also tells her that no matter what has happened since that moment, she is his daughter and he will always love her. Princess Gina asks Doug to get Greta for her before it's too late.
Bo reaches Shawn before he leaves his room. He apologizes for not listening to Shawn's doubts about his mother. Shawn asks his father why someone had to shoot his mother. Bo tells Shawn "It wasn't just someone, it was me." Both of them are devastated due to this chain of events and fall into each other's arms weeping. Bo tells Shawn that his mother isn't going to get well and that he should go and see her, it may be his only chance to say goodbye.
1/14 Julie takes Doug to the hospital chapel so they can pray for "Hope," but Doug doubts it will do any good. He vents his anger at God for putting them through so much. Julie calms him and says that "Hope" doesn't have much time left, and she needs their prayers. "Hope" tells Shawn she'd like to spend some time alone with Greta. Shawn is confused, and a bit hurt, but he leaves them. Later, Bo is at "Hope's bedside and just as she starts to tell him the truth about her identity, she flatlines.

She vows to find a way home to Bo and Shawn. At the hospital, "Hope" dies, and everyone is devastated. Bo believes that he killed his wife, but Greta says he killed her mother. Bo tells Greta that the woman in that room was Hope, but Greta says she still had her mother's spirit in her. Grandpa Shawn suggests that they all go to the pub, and Lexie releases Shawn into Grandpa Shawn's care. Bo says he will meet everyone at the pub as he wants to say goodbye to "Hope." Bo goes into see "Hope" to say goodbye, but cries that he cannot let her go.
At the pub, everyone is telling stories about Bo and Hope's life together. They then talk about the funeral, and Bo asks Victor to come. Victor tells Bo that he could never refuse his son anything, so he will honor his request, and he'll also come to the funeral! Bo thanks him, and then leaves. Kate returns, and she tells Victor that Bo's losing Hope has made her realize that they should marry ASAP. Victor tells Kate that her behavior at Tuscany makes him think otherwise, and he accuses Kate of only accepting his proposal to spite Vivian.
Kate says that might have been part of the reason she accepted when and where she did, but she loves him and wants to marry him. Victor asks if that is so, why did she wait so long to answer? Kate becomes angry and tells him that he was the one who told her to think long and hard before answering, and she says that all he has done lately is criticize her and tell her what a failure she is. Victor stands up, hugs Kate, and tells her that he's sorry and he loves her. He realizes that he's been feeling sorry for himself lately, and has been punishing her. He tells her that he wants to make things right between them, and the first order of business is for him to move back into their bedroom.
At the pub, the Bradys and the Hortons gather to celebrate "Hope's" life and give their condolences to Bo and Shawn D. Bo returns to the pub, and soon John shows up, but Marlena stays outside. Bo feels he should be the one to go get Marlena, but the two only end up in another huge fight. Marlena had brought Bo a book on dealing with the loss of a loved one, but he throws it into the distance and says reading a book won't help him. He continues to blame Marlena for "Hope's" death.
Marlena tells Bo that she was considering giving up her practice because of what happened, but she has decided not to do that. She tells Bo that none of them knew how far gone "Hope" was, and she thinks they never really got her back. Bo thinks she's just making excuses and trying to put the blame elsewhere, but he doesn't think he can ever forgive her for what happened to his "Hope." Bo and Marlena eventually go into the pub, and Marlena tells John that Bo is still holding onto his anger for her.
Upstairs of the Brady Pub, Shawn calls Belle to talk to her. They talk about grown- ups and how they always are trying to protect them as if they aren't mature enough to handle things. Shawn opens up to Belle and tells her that in a way, he feels like the woman who died wasn't his mom. After the call ends, Shawn prays to God and asks him why he took his mom from him and caused his dad all this pain? Bo shows up and tells Shawn instead of asking God why he took his mom from them, they should be thanking him for all the wonderful years they had together, and hope that she has found peace. Over at the Horton house, Alice tells Tom how much she loves him, and that she knows their "Hope" is with him now. She asks Tom to take good care of her, and one day they will all be reunited. The show ends with Alice breaking into tears.
Dvd #43B 1/20 At Bo's boat he and Greta are talking and she tells him that she feels responsible for "Hope's" death. He tells her she isn't to blame. He blames Marlena. He says that if she had told them what was going on with "Hope" then she would still be alive. Greta tells him that everything that "Hope" did right up until her death reminded her of things her mother would've done and said. She said that she really believed that "Hope" was her mother. Greta has a flashback of "Hope" telling her who her father is. She starts to tell Bo about it but he interrupts her. He tells her that everything that "Hope" had been saying to everyone was lies. He just wants everything to be over with. John meets up with them at the boat. Greta leaves after saying she is going to meet Nicole.
After John has a flashback of him and Gina on the submarine he asks Bo when he started noticing a change in "Hope." Bo says that it was only a day or two after he and "Hope" returned from Paris. He says he doesn't know what triggered the change in her. Bo asks John why he is so curious about this now. John said the change is different because she wanted Bo instead of him and he wonders why that is. Bo says he doesn't want to hear anymore, that part of his life is over. After John leaves, Bo has a vision of Hope asking him to bring her back to him safely. He turns to the sky and talks to God. He asks Him why He would give him hope for a future together with Hope and then turn around and take her away. Bo asks Him to help him say goodbye to "Hope" today.
In Europe, Hope and Stefano are still bickering. He is still trying to get a response to his SOS. He doesn't. They aren't eating and they haven't slept. Hope tells Stefano that she isn't feeling well. Kurt brings them food. Hope pleads with him to let them out. He refuses. Regardless of her pleas he tells her this is the way it has to be. He closes the trap door. He has been unable to contact the Princess therefore he is unsure of what to do next.
1/21 Stefano's hand is sore from Kurt's stabbing, so Hope offers to take her turn tapping out their S.O.S. Almost immediately, the radio station responds and encourages them to continue the signal so they can narrow down the exact location.
Bo, Shawn, and Roman set sail on the Fancy Face II in search of a location to later scatter "Hope's" ashes. This is extremely difficult for father and son, but Bo knows he must be strong. After stopping at five different locations, Bo still isn't satisfied. He wants Hope's final resting place to be perfect, and he hasn't gotten any positive vibes yet. Doug and Julie sort through "Hope's" things from her hotel suite, but find it strange that she had so many unusual and un-Hope-like belongings.
Lili tries to convince them that it was Gina who died, but Doug won't believe it. Finally, Lili comes up with an idea. Princess Gina had her appendix removed and Hope didn't. All they have to do is check the body for a scar. Doug thinks it's worth a shot, so he calls the crematorium in Hopes of convincing them to stop "Hope's" cremation. Easier said than done. Bo is the only one with that power. Will they find him before it's too late?
1/24 Desperate to find Bo, Julie spots an old friend at the docks and he flies her in his helicopter to Bo's boat. Julie then advises Bo that Gina had her appendix taken out while Hope didn't. Realizing the dead woman might not be Hope, Bo climbs up the helicopter ladder. However, when Shawn tries, he flashes back to the moment when Gina ordered him to jump to his death and finds he can't move.
Bo finally helps him into the helicopter. Doug manages to stop the cremation for a few minutes and then gets into a fight to delay it further. The police show and soon after, Bo arrives and manages to stop the coffin before it goes into the fire.
1/25 Bo examines "Hope's" body for a scar from an appendectomy but fails to find one. Though he now believes this is Hope's body, Greta examines the body herself and finds a protrusion that may be a scar after all.
1/26 At the crematorium, Doug and Julie are hoping they will get their Hope back. Shawn D asks his dad what they will do next? Bo says DNA testing is the only way to be sure the dead woman isn't his mom, but if this is Princess Gina, where is his mom? Bo tells Doug and Julie that he knows in his heart that Hope is still alive, and he will find her. Julie asks if Gina was alive, how did Hope take her place? John says it was obviously Stefano's work. The mortician thinks this all sounds too unbelievable, but Doug says he has no idea who they are dealing with.
The mortician offers to contact his friend, who is a DNA specialist, and try to convince him to come down here. The family appreciates the offer, so the man and Doug leave to make the call. John tells Bo and the others that all the evidence is pointing to the fact that this isn't Hope, the lung cancer and appendectomy scar don't match up.
Shawn says that Hope never smoked, but Greta says her mother smoked her entire life. Julie thinks that John is right, Stefano must have Hope. Greta once again starts feeling guilty and she tells them that even thought that might be her mother in the casket, she knows that Hope is dead. Bo asks her why she thinks that? Doug returns after going with the mortician to call the DNA guy, and he sees the look on everyone's faces and asks what is wrong? Greta explains to him, and them all, that her mother told her that the real Hope was dead. She tells them the story about how her mother claimed to have met Hope on a bridge in Paris, and she flipped and killed herself.
Greta tells them all how sorry she is, but Bo thinks that her mother was lying to force her to accept her impersonation of Hope. John says that he bets Gina told her that taking over Hope's life would spare everyone in Salem from the news of Hope's death. Greta says that is exactly right! John thinks he's finally beginning to see how far Gina would go to get what she wanted. Still, Julie asks "What if Hope did kill herself?" Bo refuses to believe that because the woman he left in Paris was tired, not frightened or confused.
Bo tells Greta that her mother manipulated her and the rest of them up to the end, and everything she told her was a lie to serve her own selfish needs. Greta remembers her mother telling her who her father was, and she tells Bo that her mother never would have lied to her on her death bed.
John asks her what she means, and what was the secret she almost took to her grave? Greta says that is between her and her mother, it has nothing to do with Hope. Bo wonders why Gina never told them she was dying. John says that Gina was deeply disturbed, and Gina probably didn't even know where Hope really was.
Bill, the DNA guy, shows up to perform the tests. He takes a sample from the body, Shawn, and Greta. Bo asks how long till they have the results? The man tells them it will be in a couple of days. John offers to pay the bill, and the man promises that the results won't take any longer than necessary. Bo says that the longer they have to wait, the more danger Hope is in.
In France, Kurt tries to call Gina, but she still isn't answering her phone. He begins to worry about her because this isn't like her at all. He wonders if something could have happened to her. Kurt paces around the room thinking about how Hope told him that he can't spend the rest of his life taking care of her and Stefano. He realizes that she is right, he can't spend his life taking care of them like they were animals in a cage. He begins to wonder if Princess Gina plans to come back. He becomes angry and can't believe that the Princess would abandon him after all that has happened. He tells himself that he can't lose faith in Princess Gina. He looks at the fire, and then decides to go check on his prisoners.
In the turret, Hope leaves the bathroom after becoming sick. She wonders what is wrong with her because she can't keep any food down. She ends up sick once again, and makes a run for the bathroom. Afterwards Hope pours herself a glass of water and then wonders if Kurt is poisoning them? Stefano is still snoring, and Hope realizes that Stefano doesn't have the symptoms she does, so there must be something else wrong with her. Later, Hope thinks that perhaps being sick is her way out of here.
Kurt shows up at the sliding metal panel in the wall behind the secret passage to check on them, and Hope hobbles over to him. She begs him to help her because she's afraid she's dying. Kurt says that he's taken very good care of her. Hope says she's not blaming him, but something is very wrong with her and she's scared. She says that Stefano won't help her and prefers she die so he can have all the food and water for himself. She tries to tell him that they are all victims of Stefano.
She begs Kurt to let her out and take her to a doctor. Kurt tells Hope that he can't let her go, so Hope asks for some antibiotics of some sort. She then runs to the bathroom to get sick. Kurt closes the metal door and he wonders if Hope's infection has come back from her fall into the river, or what if this is another trick. Hope lays down to rest and asks God not to let her die here.
1/27 Kurt realizes that he has to help an ill Hope. When Kurt brings her medicine and some soup, she slips him a note asking for a home pregnancy test.
1/28 Victor's man ties up the pilot of the jet and forces him to admit that princess Gina was with Stefano on the flight to Europe and that Stefano stayed in Europe.
At the cemetery Alice, Doug and Julie remember things from the past as they talk about Hope. Alice remembers her life with Tom in their younger days. Doug remembers when Addie was sick with cancer and decided not to take the special treatment so that she could deliver a healthy baby they named Hope. Doug then sings the song, "In the Sweet By and By." Everyone is called back to the funeral home for the results of the DNA test. The results show that Gina could not possibly be Shawn's biological mother, she is not Hope!
1/31 Bo pressed Marlena to tell him what Gina had told her during her therapy sessions. Marlena claimed she couldn't but did admit she thought Gina had been faking during the hypnosis. Greta saw a vision of her mother and went to her new apartment with Eric. She made tea while he was tormented by thoughts of being there with Nicole.
Kurt wondered if Hope might be faking being pregnant. He gave food to Stefano and a pregnancy test to Hope. Hope tried to find out from Stefano the men she had been with the past year. He told her John was only man she'd seduced but remembered the night that they'd made out. The police suddenly started banging on the door.
2/1 Bo and Shawn dropped by Greta's new apartment to question her about her mother. Bo asked Greta to tell him everything her mother had told her about Hope. Greta told Bo that she'd told him everything she knew. Her mother had claimed that Hope was dead. Bo refused to believe that and said he would find Hope with her help.
Bo saw the picture of Greta and her mother, and he apologized for snapping at her. He said he was just cranky because John and Marlena had tried to convince him that Hope might not be alive. Greta told Bo that she would do whatever she could to help him find Hope, if she were alive. Bo thanked her and gave her a hug. Bo asked her when her mother had told her that Hope had died.
Greta explained the entire story to Bo and Shawn. Greta believed that her mother's need to love and be loved had driven her to lie. Bo asked if her mother had told her anything about Hope when she'd visited her in the hospital and questioned if she'd said anything important to Greta. Greta remembered her mother telling her about her father, and Bo asked Greta what her mother had told her. Greta said that all her mother had said was that the family needed to know the truth about Hope, so she guessed she had planned to tell them the truth.
Greta's words sparked one of Shawn's memories. Shawn said that Gina had told him that he would get his family back and that he would have his mother again. Bo then remembered Gina telling him that he still had Hope. He also remembered his vision of Hope asking him to save her. Bo was convinced that Hope was alive and in trouble. Bo told Shawn to grab his coat, and the two of them raced out of Greta's place.
Stefano continued to send his SOS signal as Hope waited for the results of her pregnancy test. Stefano took an SOS break and said he needed a good hot shower, but Hope told him no. She told him that she needed to use the bathroom because she might get sick again. Stefano felt her forehead and said there was no fever, but she was a little pale. He said it was a very odd illness she had then said he knew what was wrong with her. Stefano told her that she was lovesick and was pining for her Bo. He told her that her undying love for her family would be the death of her.
Hope said she would not be the self-centered narcissist he was, as the people she loved were the center of her universe. She declared if she got out of their situation alive, it would be because of Bo and Shawn D's love for her. Suddenly, Hope fainted in Stefano's arms. As Hope was unconscious, Stefano said he did admire Hope's pure faith and undying love for Bo. He said he would give anything for that kind of love, anything. Hope awoke, and Stefano told her that something was very wrong with her. Hope just said that it was time.
Kurt let the police inside. They told him that a radio station was receiving an SOS signal from that area, and the officer asked if Kurt knew of anyone who was in trouble or in need of assistance. Kurt told them that he didn't know anyone in the area, and he lived there by himself. The officers asked him if he owned the chateau. Kurt said no and that the owner was a man living in America. The officers joked that it looked like a place where Sleeping Beauty lived, and perhaps he was hiding someone there.
One of the officers found some women's clothing, but Kurt said it was the owner's wife's clothing. He told them that the owner of the castle was a powerful man, and he wouldn't like to hear that the French police were interrogating his caretaker. They apologized to Kurt and left him in peace. After they left, Kurt told himself that those signals had better not be emanating from there. Kurt went up and spied on Hope and Stefano and saw Stefano using the radio to send SOS signals. Kurt ran off, and Stefano thought he'd heard something from behind the secret passage. Kurt realized that he had to put an end to Stefano's SOS signals.
Hope, who had been in the bathroom, walked out, and Stefano asked Hope what she'd meant when she had said it was time. Hope said she'd meant it was time to get out of there. Stefano told Hope that he'd heard a noise, and he thought Kurt might have seen him at the transmitter, which he was counting on. Hope asked him why. Stefano said if Kurt had seen him send the signal, he'd have to go in there to take the transmitter away from them. When he did that, Stefano planned on nailing him.
Hope became upset and said it had to work because she had to get out of there, everything was at stake. Hope ran into the bathroom and told herself to save her strength for the baby. She then said, "My God, we're going to have a baby, Bo!"
2/3 In Victor's office, he, Roman, and Bo were looking at a map and discussing all the possible places Stefano might be in hiding. They were desperate to find his whereabouts. Bo was certain finding Stefano would mean finding Hope. Bo thought he should begin his search at the last place he had seen Hope alive. That had been in Paris, he recalled. Victor told Roman and Bo about one of the angles his men were working on involving Stefano. They'd found a connection between the Bradys and the DiMeras that dated back many years.
Roman said he believed that Stefano's parents had been in cahoots with the Bradys long before, dating back to when Shawn Sr. had been just a lad back in Dublin, Ireland. His men were searching for more information on the connection between the families. Victor thought Bo should also consider the possibility that Stefano was dead. Bo disagreed, saying that if Stefano was dead, Hope might be, too, and he refused to believe that. Roman agreed with Victor, telling Bo he should prepare for the possibility that she might be gone. Bo couldn't grasp the thought.
Greta spotted a newspaper article about the authorities in Central France trying to find who was behind the SOS signal they had received. "Oh, my God!" Greta said.
In Paris, Hope was desperate to get out of the turret and back to Bo for the sake of their baby. She told Stefano he had to continue tapping out the signal so they could be rescued. They were certain Kurt would soon catch on to what they were doing. Upstairs, Kurt was again trying to reach the princess by telephone. When he got no answer, he decided he had to go on the roof to disconnect the cable that was hooked up to the antenna Stefano was using to send out the SOS signal. He had to thwart Stefano's attempt to be rescued.
Kurt climbed on the roof to disconnect the cable, and Stefano and Hope heard him. They knew what he was going to do, and Stefano desperately continued tapping furiously. Because the roof was wet and slippery due to rain, Kurt lost his footing and slid off the roof, plummeting to the ground below. Hope, standing at the window and looking out, heard Kurt's scream and saw him fall.
2/4 In Paris, Hope was standing at the window, and she told Stefano that Kurt had fallen off the roof. He was stunned. They could see Kurt lying on the ground, motionless. They worried that if he was dead, they might never be rescued. Stefano said the only thing that might save them was the miracle Hope was always talking about. He continued to tap out the SOS signal with the hope that Kurt had not been able to disconnect the antenna.
Hope lay on the bed with a spider crawling dangerously close. While conversing with Stefano about ways to escape, the conversation led them to discuss the sacrifices parents would make in order to protect their children. They decided they were on common ground about doing anything it took to keep a child safe.
The spider crawled onto Hope's leg and bit. She yelled out. Stefano leaped from his chair and stepped on the spider, killing it. The bite immediately began to bruise and swell up. Hope was in pain. She asked Stefano to help her. He put his mouth over the spider bite and proceeded to suck out the venom the spider had left behind.
2/7 In France, Hope's vision begins to blur. Stefano works to suck the venom out of Hope's leg and he yells at her to be still. She can't see what he is doing, so he tells her that he's trying to remove the poison from her system before she dies! After sucking the poison out, he puts a tourniquet on her leg. He then sterilizes a paint spackle in a candle flame, and makes a cut in her leg so the poison can drain out.
Stefano tries to get Hope to take the antibiotics Kurt brought her, but she refuses and says that she can't loose her baby. Stefano thinks she is delirious and decides to apply a compress to her leg. He goes into the bathroom to get a compress, and ends up finding the pregnancy test. He confronts Hope with the test, and he asks her if she is pregnant? Hope tells him that she's pregnant.
2/8 In France, poor Kurt is still lying on the ground outside the chateau with blood coming out of his nose and mouth, we don't know if he is dead or alive. However, near the end of the show, Kurt begins to stir!
In the turret, Hope admits to Stefano that she is pregnant. Stefano promises to take care of her and her baby. He asks her how far along she is, but she doesn't know. Stefano tells her that it is very important that he knows when she conceived the child. Hope doesn't know, and she doesn't know why Stefano cares. Hope says that the first time she got sick was at the fisherman's cottage, so she and Bo must have conceived the child during the summer.
Stefano mumbles "so much happened then," which Hope hears. She asks him what happened? Stefano says it is not important, but Hope says it was important. She starts mumbling that Bo will be so happy to learn they are expecting, and she eventually drifts off to sleep. Stefano remembers the events on the sub, and when Gina/Hope seduced him. He wonders if it is possible if the baby is his.
2/10 In Paris, Stefano is taking care of a feverish Hope. He swears to her he is doing everything he can for her and her baby. Hope asks Stefano if he has heard from Kurt. He says he hasn't. Hope is distraught because Kurt is the only one who knows where they are. Stefano silently remembers that Dr. Rolf knows where the castle is. He wonders why he hasn't come looking for him.
Hope tells Stefano she had a dream that Bo rescued them. She says that in the dream she told Bo about the baby and Bo said they conceived it out of love. He knows Hope wants to believe that is the truth. Although he knows differently he stays silent. He again wonders if the baby is his.
Victor, Bo, Shawn and Roman are gathered in Victor's office discussing Stefano. Shawn says he asked someone to join their meeting that may be able to shed some light on the situation. He brings Lily in. She starts by saying Gina was devious, manipulative and every bit as evil as Stefano. She says Gina used her to get into the social circle so she could steal the paintings. She says when Gina first came to Salem she had every intention of reuniting with John and Greta and then the three of them would return to Paris.
When Gina realized John wasn't going to leave Marlena she set her sights on falling in love with Bo. Lily says Gina did genuinely love Bo and wanted a life in Salem with him and Greta. She also says Gina was full of hostility for Shawn. Bo concludes this was because Gina felt threatened by Shawn because Shawn didn't trust her.
Lily goes on to tell them that when Gina came back from her overnight trip to Paris she said Stefano would no longer be a problem and that Hope had vanished. Lily says she believes Gina was lying and says she thinks Hope is alive. Lily says that if they find Stefano they will probably find Hope. She says if Gina had killed them she would have loved divulging the details of their demise. Because Gina didn't say anything like that Lily believes they are still alive.
2/11 In Paris, Stefano tended to an ailing Hope. He fed her crackers and water but didn't eat himself because he was worried Kurt wouldn't return and he wanted to make sure Hope and her baby have the food that is left. Stefano had a coughing fit. Hope asked him if he was alright. He weakly said he was fine although it was obvious he really wasn't well.
In the meeting with Bo, Shawn, Victor and Roman Lily told them she would do anything to retrieve the artwork Gina stole from her. She said she wanted Stefano and all his minions to pay for stealing from her. Just outside the door John was eavesdropping on their conversation. He had another memory of himself admitting to being Stefano's best friend. He went inside and they updated him on what they had learned about the trip Gina and Stefano took to Paris. Lily said she hoped that once they found Hope and Stefano they could then find her painting and all of the other paintings as well. John blurted out "I know."
Bo asked him what he meant. John said he would just be guessing but wondered if the paintings could be at Stefano's castle in Paris. Maybe in a secret room or in the basement. Bo said they had thought of that but it had seemed too obvious. John said they should still check it out. They all feel the paintings will lead them to Stefano but they don't think they will find Hope at the castle. Bo said "If we could just get a sign telling us where they are."
"A sign" Lily said. She told them about the story in Paris about the mysterious SOS signal the French authorities had been receiving. She showed them a newspaper article stating the authorities now believe it was a hoax. They all believe it could have been Hope sending the signal. Bo said he was going to Paris right away. Shawn and Roman said they were going too. John said they could use his jet and he told Bo if there is anything else he can do just let him know. Bo told John he hoped that John would remember his past with Stefano and Gina because if he did they might get the answers they are looking for.
Bo told Victor that he would stay in touch and thanked him for all of his help. Bart reported to Dr. Rolf and told him he learned that John would be taking a trip but he didn't know where to, yet. He said he had someone working on finding out where John is going.
Dr. Rolf told Bart he is worried John will remember his past as Stefano's soldier due to a defect in the microchip. Bart tells Rolf that John has filed a flight plan to Paris. Dr. Rolf is stunned.
2/14 At the airport, Bart and Rolf listen in on John and Bo's conversation with an airline representative via a bug. John makes arrangements for a private jet to fly him and the rest of the gang to France. John goes over the passenger list with Bo, pretty funny as Bo complains about half of Salem going with them. The current passenger list included John, Roman, Bo, Shawn, and they will be joined by Lily, Greta, and Eric.
Then John shares that Marlena will be joining them just in case Hope needs immediate care. Bo hopes that Marlena knows that he is glad she is coming alone, and he is relieved that he did not lose her friendship, something else Stefano is responsible for. When John mentions Belle’s name, Bo complains she is too young. John reminds him that Shawn is going, but Bo points out Hope is his mother. John points out that Belle will be good company for Shawn.
Bo snarks that next thing, John will be adding Mrs. H to the list. John shares that Mrs. H already called that morning. Bo argues that she should not be going on this trip after having had a stroke. He continues then Doug and Julie are going to want to go. Finally Bo just says okay anyone with a Salem zip code can join them!
Bart calls Rolf and tells him that “Batman & Robin think they are going to find Hope with Stefano.” Bart says that he is going to sabotage the jet as the ultimate test for John in order to see how much he remembers from his mercenary days.
Bo goes to see Mrs. Horton. He finds her packing her deep fryer so she can make donuts for her granddaughter! Bo tries to talk her out of coming to France, but she refuses to cave. Bo eventually agrees to let her come.
In the turret, Stefano is now wearing a mask because he fears he has pneumonia and doesn't want Hope to catch it. Hope doesn't want him to die and leave her alone, so she makes a deal with him. She agrees to eat some soup if he will take her antibiotics.
2/15 Rolf and Bart, dressed as mechanics, sneak onto the plane John has leased and get to work. Bart worries that if John doesn't remember the past, everyone on this plane will die because John won't know how to save them. Rolf asks what the problem with that is, and then he laughs.
In Paris, Stefano is coughing up a storm as Hope sleeps. In her dream, Hope is walking through the woods when a spider begins to crawl up her leg. However, Stefano comes to her rescue! He gets rid of the spider, picks her up, and tells her that he is here to protect her. As they walk towards the castle, a giant spider is crawling over the doorway!
Hope eventually wakes up screaming. Stefano rushes to her side and comforts her. Hope fears she is going to die. Stefano tells her that she needs to have faith and trust that everything will work out. Stefano brings Hope some more broth, and she thanks him.
She also agrees to keep the faith. Stefano jokes that when they get out of here they can write a book about it and call it the Alice Horton rule. When Stefano coughs and wheezes, she tells him perhaps he should take some more medicine. Suddenly, Hope has a seizure. Hope recovers and asks what happened? Stefano says that she had a seizure, but she is better now.
Hope thanks Stefano for saving her life, he held her head still. Stefano brings Hope some powdered milk to keep up her strength. Hope wishes she knew how far along she was. She says she dreamed she conceived the baby with Bo in Paris, but when she thinks about it, she can't even remember being with Bo. Stefano then recalls Hope seducing both him and John.
2/17 At Mrs Horton’s, Doug and Julie were saying goodbye to Alice when she told them their was no need for them to say goodbye because she would be going with them to Paris. They tried to convince her that she should stay home for health and safety reasons but she refused. She told them her family means everything to her and she was going to help with Hope's rescue.
Shawn was there with them and he sided with his grandmother saying he needed a penny poker player to join their game on the flight and she is the one to fill that position. Doug said he was going to call Bo to convince Alice to stay home but she said Bo already tried and he also got nowhere. They reluctantly accepted the fact that Alice wasn't going to change her mind about going on the trip. They all left to go to the airport.
At the pub, John, Bo and Roman were discussing their travel plans and how they plan to find Stefano. John told Bo he still feels the paintings are at one of Gina's homes. Bo said that may be but he still doesn't think Stefano would hold Hope there because it is too obvious. Bo went on to say that the last night he was in Paris, he knows in his heart it was Hope he was holding in his arms.
He said that the switch between Hope and Gina had to have happened after he left to return home to Salem. He said as soon as who he thought was Hope returned to Salem he realized it wasn't really her. He just wanted to believe that it was because he had finally got her back after so long without her. He said he knew it wasn't Hope the first time he kissed her.
As Bo was talking John had a flashback of him and Hope on the submarine and aloud he said, "So it was Hope I was with on my honeymoon." Bo asked him to explain himself and John said he meant to say wedding not honeymoon. He said he meant that it was Hope who was at his wedding to Marlena not Gina. Bo believed John's explanation. They all head to the airport.
In Europe, Stefano was carefully tending to Hope who is still recovering from the spider bite. Stefano realized he is slowly losing his life trying to battle his pneumonia. He wondered if he was wrong to tell Hope to keep the faith about them being rescued. He now believes they may never get out of there alive but he didn't share his fears with Hope.
Hope tried to get Stefano to tell her how sick he really is but he would not admit anything. He told her he must continue to do everything he can to keep her and her baby well. He fed her soup and told her she has to stay positive and stop talking about them dying. She told Stefano he needs to eat in order for him to stay healthy and strong so he satisfied her by pretending to eat. Hope told Stefano she is grateful he is being so kind to her but she also said it is his fault she is there.
Outside the chateau, Kurt struggled to get up off the ground but couldn't. He tried to use his cell phone but the battery was dead. He dragged himself along the ground until he got to the house and then fell inside the door.
Outside the airport lounge, Bart and Rolf were discussing their plans to sabotage the plane. Bart reports that he Gina's body is safely on board the the plane. Before Rolf left to get on Stefano's jet, he told Bart to put his earpiece in so they can communicate and to meet him at the jet shortly.
2/18 Rolf boarded Stefano's plane and watched the airport lounge happenings via a hidden video camera. The pilot comes out and tells everyone it is time to board the plane. Alice said a prayer before take-off.
Bo and Roman were sitting together discussing where they should look for Stefano once they arrive in Paris. Two police officers boarded John's plane before take-off and said they were there because the commissioner said Roman must take over Abe's position while he is on leave. Roman told them to tell the commissioner he didn't want the job. He said he was going to Paris with his brother.
As the plane began to ascend the pilots aborted the takeoff due to a malfunction of the back-up switch. Rolf fixed the problem from Stefano's plane and the pilots began take-off once again. Once the plane took off without any complications most of the passengers comfortably fell into slumber.
In Stefano's plane, Rolf then released a gas via remote control that put the pilot to sleep leaving the co-pilot to fly the plane solo. The co-pilot checked the pilot's pulse and realized he was still breathing and said he was going to make an emergency landing.
Bart said, "No that can't happen, that is not part of the plan." He then released more gas and the co-pilot was also put to sleep. Rolf told Bart he wasn't supposed to do that and told him he a fool. On John's plane, none of the passengers realized that no one is flying the plane!
2/21 Lili's panic attack starts to affect everyone on the flight to Europe. Rolf grins evilly and decides that perhaps the mishap with the pilots could be a good thing for their plot to see if John remembers his mercenary life and still has those memories and instincts that Rolf implanted into him.
2/21 John found the pilot unconscious and called for help over the radio. Using a disguised voice, Rolf answered his call. Bo sat down in the co-pilot's seat while Bart pressed another button, which pointed John's plane down toward the ground.
2/23 As Stefano told himself that he felt like he was dying, Hope realized there were no more pills. She was relieved when she felt her baby kicking. Kurt made it to the door and learned that Stefano was sick and Hope was pregnant. Unsure of what to do, Kurt decided to make a decision the next day.
On the plane, John overrode the plane's control system by cutting some wires with a knife. As he did so, his mercenary side took over for a moment and he suddenly put the knife to Bo's throat. After he snapped out of it, Bo warned John he had turned into someone Bo didn't know.
2/24 John figured out there was a bomb on the plane and quickly found it stored away. Shawn overheard and wanted to help. John advised Marlena of the situation while the others played poker. Lily found the dead pilots on the floor and screamed. John slapped her to calm her down and finally revealed that there was a bomb aboard.
2/25 Still trapped in the castle, Hope sensed Bo and Shawn were in terrible danger. Hope finally realized that Stefano had been pretending to eat so that she would have all of the food. She then poured half her soup into his bowl and insisted that he eat. Kurt decided to kill Stefano, but when he sneaked into the room, Hope awoke and screamed. Startled, Kurt shot his gun.
A deranged Rolf arranged for the plane to be taken off autopilot while John was headed to find the bomb. John returned to the cockpit and corrected it. Meanwhile, Bart was outraged and couldn't believe what Rolf was doing. Rolf's man on John's plane called to complain. Rolf then threw a switch that blew open the door on the plane so that his man was sucked out along with the other steward.
Julie rescued Marlena and freed her from the tremendous pressure from the open door. John, Shawn, and Eric worked in the cargo hold to get to the coffin. Meanwhile, Greta managed to pull the door closed. John discovered the bomb, but found it was booby-trapped.
2/28 In Paris, Kurt pulls a gun on a sleeping Stefano, but Hope yells out "No!" Kurt fires the gun, but Stefano rolls over just in time. Stefano jumps up, and Kurt and Stefano wrestle over the gun. Stefano yells at Hope to run when he gets the gun away from Kurt, but Kurt quickly grabs Hope and uses her as a shield. Hope tries to persuade Kurt to let them go, but he refuses to listen to them. Stefano warns Kurt to let Hope go, but Kurt knows Stefano won't shoot him. Hope yells at Stefano to just shoot, so he does!
Kurt falls to the floor, and Hope runs for it. As she is running down the steps, she hears another shot, and wonders what is going on. She runs downstairs and tries to use the phone, but it is dead. Back upstairs, Kurt has been shot in the shoulder, and Stefano has passed out. Hope runs around the mansion trying to find a way out. She ends up putting on some of Gina's furs, only to be grabbed by Kurt. She begs Kurt not to do this because her baby deserves to live. Kurt tells her to be quiet, and then knocks her unconscious.
John used his shaving cream to fill the tube so the bomb could be moved. John moved the bomb to the rear of the plane. John tries to get rid of the bomb before it explodes, but he's not quick enough! The bomb goes off and rocks the plane. The lights flicker and the plane jumps all over.
Lily, who is totally zonked on tranquilizers, decides to play stewardess and asks if she can get anyone some tea or coffee as Marlena yells at her to sit down and buckle up. Greta wants to check on Eric, and she goes to the cargo hold. Marlena tries to chase after her, but she has to attend Mimi, who faints. Meanwhile, Julie manages to get the pilot to wake up for a bit, but he ends up passing back out. Lily totally loses it and starts handing out cotton towels to everyone.
Down in the cargo hold, John's ears are ringing, and he calls out to his "men" to wake up. Eric and Shawn were out cold, and he slaps them awake. Eric says they have to close the door, but John says it won't close. He instructs them to push the containers in front of the door to try and create some sort of a seal. Greta shows up to be with Eric, so John head up to the cockpit.
In the cockpit, Bo and Doug lose control of the plane and Bo sends out a mayday. John shows up to help try and fly the plane and works to try and restore the power. John splices some wires and manages to get the power back. Bo realizes that they are not heading towards Paris because it is dark out, they are in an entirely different time zone. Suddenly, the engines begin to blow out. Doug shows up at tells Bo and John that the pilot and co pilot are coming too, and they say that they should be in Paris soon. John says they aren't anywhere near Paris, for all they know they are headed to the arctic circle.
Another engine blows out, and John says they have to land this plane now. He sees an island up ahead and says they will have to land it there. Bo goes to the cabin and tells everyone to put on their life vests and buckle up. The pilot goes up to the cockpit to help John, and the pilot realizes the plane has run out of fuel and they are flying on empty! John and the pilot are forced to crash land the plane into the sea.
Onboard Rolfe and Bart's jet, Rolfe and Bart hear screaming, but then the screen goes black. Bart is furious and calls Rolfe a sick bastard for letting all those innocent people die. Rolfe says there was a chance that this could happen and they both knew it, but Bart says this was all just a sick game to him. The TV screen comes back on, and they see Bo and Doug trying to get John to respond. Bart tells Rolfe to help them land the plane. Rolfe refuses to help them because he wants to put John to the ultimate test.
Rolfe knocks out all the instruments on the plane. Bart asks him if he wants them all to die? Rolfe says no, he wants John to save them to prove what a genius he is for creating him. They watch them on the TV for awhile, and Rolfe can't believe John didn't figure out they were flying in the wrong direction hours ago. Bart begs Rolfe to help them, but he refuses.
Rolfe says that there fate is in John's hands now, and if he doesn't save him, it will be the greatest disappointment of his life. Rolfe turns the monitor off and tells Bart that they are going home now and will no longer think about those people. Bart can't believe Rolfe is going to let all those people die. Rolfe says if John is the man he thinks he is, then he will save them. If not, C'est la guerre (not C'est la vie).
2/29 In France, Kurt has brought Hope to Gina's bedroom. He tells a woozy Hope that a doctor is on the way. Hope asks if he knows she is his prisoner? Kurt says he doesn't like that word and tells her that she is his girlfriend, who he got pregnant. He warns her that if she doesn't go along with his story, she will go back up to the turret. He also tells her that he'll use his gun if she tries to escape again, and this time he won't miss!
The doctor shows up and asks Kurt what happened to his shoulder? Kurt says he was cleaning his gun and it went off, but he is fine. He says that it is his girlfriend that he is worried about. He looks at Hope and tells Kurt that this woman is very ill! Hope moans that she needs him to help her. Kurt claims that he and his girlfriend broke up last fall, and she just showed up yesterday on his doorstep. As the doctor examines Hope, Hope tries desperately to get a message through to him that she needs help, but she is too weak.
Later, the doctor tells Kurt that Hope has been bitten by a poisonous spider and that is what is making her sick. He also says she has a bruise on her cheek, which Kurt claims she got when she fell. Kurt asks if the baby will be all right? The doctor says that depends, and he asks Hope how long she has been bleeding? Hope is shocked by this news and says she didn't know. She looks at Kurt and tells him that he did this to her, it is all his fault!
John and the pilot have landed the plane in the ocean safely. John asks why they aren't sinking yet if they are in the water. The pilot looks outside and says he thinks they are. Everyone onboard is grateful to be alive, and they do a head check to make sure everyone is okay.
Doug asks John where they are? John says they are on a sandbar in the ocean, and it is only a matter of time before they begin to shift around. Suddenly, the plane jerks, and John tells everyone to hold on. Suddenly, Shawn notices that Bo is nowhere to be found. John says that he must be in the back, so he'll go check it out. John makes it to the back of the plane, and the door had been blown open with the crash. John realizes Bo might be out in the water, so he dives in to find him.
John finds Bo, who he calls soldier, and he tells him to hold on because he's the one man he didn't count on loosing on this mission. John and Shawn carry Bo into the main cabin for the "doctor" to administer therapy. Marlena checks on Bo and announces that he is not breathing. Marlena performs mouth to mouth on Bo, and he eventually spits up the water.
The plane continues to shift, so John tells everyone to get ready to abandon ship. The pilot, who was out surveying, tells everyone that there is an island not far from them. Alice announces that the only thing to do is to swim for it! Everyone jumps out of the plane and into the sea. As Greta is about to jump, John tells her not to think about her mother right now other than how much she loved her.
One by one, everyone jumps out. Belle and Mimi are among the last to go, and Belle telling her dad how much she loves him seems to snap John out of mercenary mode for a second. John asks the "doctor" if she is ready? Marlena tells him that with him she is already ready, and they kiss. The plane suddenly shifts as John and Marlena prepare to jump.
3/1 The plane crash survivors all turn up on a deserted tropical island. John, in mercenary mode, instructs the guys to build a fire so they can send out a signal for help. Bo questions John about his harsh, drill sergeant behavior and John reveals that he's been slipping back into his old self. Alice suggests they have a memorial service for Princess Gina.
Later, a rescue chopper sweeps in, but it can't land on such a small area. They'll have to drop a rope and rescue only one person for the time being. Who will it be?
The french doctor checks Hope out and tells her that her pain and the bleeding may be connected to a pulled muscle. But he'd like to take her to an obstetrician. Kurt, playing the role of her boyfriend to the hilt, speaks up and says that won't be necessary. He manages to convince the doctor to keep Hope right there at the castle. The doctor packs up to leave, taking Hope's chances of escape with him. But then Hope gets a strong vibe and prays that Bo saves her before their baby is born.
3/6 Gina's body surfaces in the lagoon, and Greta screams. Her screams bring Shawn and Belle running, and Belle cringes when she sees Gina. Shawn asks Belle to get some blankets for the body, so she runs off. Shawn wonders when this woman is going to stop bringing misery into their lives. Eric tells Shawn not to do this, but Shawn says that his mother is in danger because of this woman, and then he looks at Greta and tells her that she is as much to blame as her "saintly" mother.
Bo shows up at the Duke and Duchess' house and demands to speak to them. The Duke asks Bo what he's doing back here? Bo tells him that he needs to know everything he knows about Princess Gina. The Duchess shows up, and Bo pleads with them to help him find his wife by telling him all they know about Gina. The Duke refuses and thinks that Bo helped Gina steal their painting. Bo says he didn't, and when the Duke tells him to leave, Bo grabs him and demands to know about Gina. The Duke tells him that she has the castle and summer house in Paris, that is all he knows.
In the Turret, Kurt brings Hope some tea for her and the baby. Hope wishes she was back in Salem so she could deliver this baby in the hospital with Bo. Kurt tells her that if Bo learns the truth, he won't want to be there. Hope asks him what he's saying? Kurt tells her that her baby's father is not who she thinks it is, it is not Bo. Hope tells Kurt of course Bo is the baby's father! Kurt tells her that while she was in Europe as Gina, she had many suitors.
Hope tells Kurt that no matter who she thought she was, the only man she could make love to is Bo. Hope then wonders if Kurt raped her when she had amnesia. She asks him if he did, and he says of course not. Hope doesn't know if she can believe him because he is holding her prisoner. Kurt hints that they won't be here for long, and he says that soon he will disappear and start a new life for himself, and she's going to help him! Hope asks what she can do?
Kurt says that he needs money, and he understands that her parents are very wealthy. Hope promises him anything he wants as long as she can go home. Kurt tells her that she can't leave yet because she might jeopardize the baby, but when the time comes they'll discuss her future and his. Kurt leaves, and Hope wonders if Kurt will really let her go back to Salem. However, she tells herself not to get her hopes up, and then she is hit with a cramp.
Outside Hope's room, Kurt vows not to let the Princess down and says that Hope's family can never know she is still alive. Kurt makes a call, and asks the person on the other end if they are still interested in making the deal? The person on the phone is interested, and Kurt tells them that he won't part with her without proper compensation. He tells the person that she needs time to regain her strength, and he also needs to know that the baby won't be separated from it's mother. After the phone call ends, there is a knock at the door. When Kurt answers it, he comes face to face with Bo!
3/7 Kurt is shocked to see Bo at the front door. He tries to prevent him from coming in, but Bo shoves him and manages to hit him in the shoulder where he was shot. Bo barges his way in and announces that he is here to find Hope, and he's not leaving until her does. Bo starts looking all over the place, in drawers and closets. Kurt pretends he is sick, but Bo won't leave. Kurt tells him that this is a private residence and there is nobody in this castle but him. Bo doesn't believe him because he has a special connection with Hope, and he can feel her here. Upstairs, Hope senses that Bo is near, and she asks him to come find her.
Bo tells Kurt that he's going to search this castle with or without his permission, so Kurt offers to give him a tour so he doesn't get lost. He excuses himself to get a sweater, and while he's gone, he goes to check on Hope. Hope is out of bed and clinging to the bed post. He asks Hope what she is doing? She begs Kurt to help her save her baby. Kurt picks up Hope and carries her off, and a snooping Bo hears her moaning. Bo barges the way into the room, but Kurt has put Hope in the closet and has gagged her.
Bo calls out to Hope, but she is too weak to answer him. Kurt tells Bo that he told him there was no one here, but he will show him the rest of the rooms if he wants. After Bo and Kurt leave, Hope musters the strength to kick the door of the closet, but she is too late. After the tour, Bo apologizes for being rude to Kurt. Bo says perhaps he'll go to Germany because Stefano has hideouts there. He also gives Bo his card in case he thinks of anything which might help him, and Bo asks Kurt for his number in case he needs to get in touch with him.
Kurt gives him a number, and Bo leaves. After Bo leaves, Kurt goes back and gets Hope. Kurt tells Hope that Bo is gone now, and he's not coming back. Hope tells herself that she needs to give Bo a false sense of hope, but secretly hopes that Bo will come back. Outside the chateau, Bo wonders where he should go now. Bo asks God to help him find Hope.
3/8 Kurt tells Hope that Bo is gone and won't be back. Hope knows Kurt knows where Bo is, and she asks him where he went. Kurt doesn't know, and he tells Hope that he has plans for her. Hope looks at him and asks what he's planning to do with her? Kurt refuses to tell her, and tells her to consider herself lucky that she won't end up like Stefano. Hope asks Kurt where Stefano is, what has he done with him? She asks Kurt if he shot Stefano in cold blood, is he dead?
Kurt only says that Stefano DiMera is no longer worth worrying about, and the only reason she is not in the Turret with him is because she is pregnant. Hope offers Kurt a lot of money if she lets her go home to Salem and have her baby, but Kurt claims he has other plans for her and her baby! Hope begs Kurt not to hurt her baby. Kurt asks why he should do what she wants, he hasn't made this easy on him or the poor princess.
Kurt says he'll be relieved once Stefano is gone and he can ship her off to have her baby elsewhere. Hope asks Kurt for one favor, to check on Stefano. Kurt agrees to check on him, but warns Hope that she won't escape. Once Kurt is gone, Hope tries to get out of bed, but is too ill. Hope begins to hear a baby crying, and she tells herself that she has to do this for her baby. Kurt checks on Stefano, who Kurt says is knocking at death's door.
3/9 Shawn, Doug, Eric and John arrived at Bo's hotel room. Shawn knocked on the door and when there was no answer he let them in with the key he picked up while in the lobby.
Inside the room, Bo was standing behind a curtain with his gun aimed at Shawn. When he realized who it was he apologized profusely for scaring his son. He told Shawn and the others he thought they were the police and that he only intended to use his gun to hold them off while he escaped. He filled everyone in on what had happened since he had arrived in Paris. He told them he has been to two of Stefano's properties but came empty handed. John told him they need to go back and check again. He thinks Bo may have overlooked something. Bo said it would be a waste of time.
Bo asked the others to leave the room for a minute. He told John he didn't like the idea of him taking control of the situation like he did on the plane. He said he felt John had become Stefano's soldier again and was trying to prevent him from finding Hope in order to protect Stefano. John explained to Bo he is really trying to help and asks Bo to trust him on this. Bo apologized and said he would believe John. The others returned and Bo told them they would return to the castle. John told them they can't let Kurt know they are coming. He said it would be best if they surprised him.
At the castle, Kurt told Hope that Stefano was at death's door. He told her she would not be returning to Salem but that she and her baby would be well taken care of. He would not tell her where she was going or who would be taking care of her and her baby. He told her he needed a nap. He fell asleep in a chair next to her bed. Hope pretended to also go to sleep but she was really keeping an eye on his gun. She made her way from the bed to where he slept and pulled the gun from his pants. He opened his eyes which startled Hope. She backed up and took aim at Kurt. He told her the only way she could get away would be by killing him.
When he reached for the gun she fired but there were no bullets. He took the gun from her and shoved her back onto the bed. He said he took the bullets out of the gun after his altercation with Stefano. He told her she could never escape and then he left her alone. Once he was gone, Hope found an open window and although she was a few stories up and the window opening was small she decided to attempt an escape.
Meanwhile in the turret, Stefano was awoken by a bird surrounded by flames that landed on the end of his bed. The bird then formed into an image of Stefano himself. The real Stefano thought for sure it must be his time to die. Stefano asked who he was? The image replied "You know exactly who I am." The image told Stefano he must get up and fight this illness. The image said Hope and the baby had made him soft.
The image reminded Stefano how far he had come to get where he was at. He said Stefano had always been a fighter and this was no time to quit fighting. He told Stefano to get up and get himself out of there. Stefano told the image he couldn't do it because he was too weak. The image said, "Well I can put you out of your misery then." He blew a gust of breath at Stefano which caused him to have difficulty breathing. The image told Stefano "Before I choke the life out of you I want you to let your life pass before your eyes."
Stefano had flashbacks of his past and what he has overcome. Such as being burned alive by Princess Gina and struck by lightning in Aremid among other memories. He remembered telling Celeste he was the Phoenix and that he always rose from the ashes. The image told Stefano to remember how he fought to get out of those situations. He reminded Stefano again to fight to get himself out of this situation. Stefano said he is too sick. The image said it was time to get started on putting Stefano out of his misery. He blew on Stefano again.
Kurt arrived to check on Stefano again. He checked Stefano's pulse and thought he was dead. When he was just about to cover Stefano's face with the blanket Stefan opened his eyes. Kurt was startled and immediately left. "Ha! Ha! That boy doesn't know you very well does he Stefano?" said the image. Then it disappeared!
3/10 In the castle, Kurt caught Hope trying to get out the window. She told him she needed some fresh air. He told her to get away from the window and back into bed. Before he closed the window, she spotted Bo and John walking on the castle grounds. To herself she vowed that this time she would make sure Bo found her. Kurt used a dresser to block the window Hope was trying to escape from and left her alone.
When he went back into the living room, he was startled by the sight of Bo ad John. Kurt told Bo once again that Hope wasn't there. John informed Kurt they would be searching the castle again. John said as long as Kurt had nothing to hide there shouldn't be a problem. Kurt told them that because he is just the caretaker he can't give them permission to search the castle.
They told Kurt that was okay because they had already been told by Greta von Amburg that they could look around. They reminded Kurt that Greta is Princess Gina's daughter. Kurt told them to go ahead and search and then made a hasty retreat.
Bo commented that Kurt didn't seem very happy to see them. John said he would think Kurt would be lonely out here in the country without anyone to talk to. Bo said "This is a big castle. Where do we start?" John said "Let's let Kurt lead the way."
Kurt entered Hope's room and quickly covered her mouth with his hand to prevent her from making any noise. He managed to move her from the bedroom through a secret passageway undetected. John and Bo were hot on his tail. John had a memory of the secret passageway and stood right in front of it running his fingers down the wall. Bo silently watched John.
3/13 Upstairs, Bo asks John what he is doing? John believes that there is a secret panel behind the wall he is searching. Bo asks why he'd think that? John claims he read somewhere that these old castles have a lot of passages. Bo starts tapping around for a spring release mechanism. Behind the wall, Kurt uses all his strength to keep John from opening the door. John gives up and thinks he's just watching too many horror films. Eric calls to John, so they go downstairs. In the passage, Kurt decides to forget about Gina's orders and save himself.
Downstairs, everyone assembles and talks about Kurt and how odd he has been acting lately. Kurt returns and says hello to everyone, and is introduced to Marlena. Kurt asks Greta why she has come back to the castle? Greta says she has brought her mother back to the castle to be buried, and Kurt is shocked to learn that she is dead.
Greta says that Gina died years ago, why would he be shocked? Kurt says like her he hoped she was still alive. Everyone informs Kurt of what Gina has been up to, and that she only recently died. Kurt asks how she died? Bo says that Gina was insane, and he explains the shooting to him.
Kurt is devastated and mumbles, "All those years I took care of . . . " John asks him took care of what? Kurt claims he was talking about the castle, but John knows better. He accuses Kurt of knowing Gina was alive, what she was up to, where Stefano is keeping Hope, and he demands to know where she is. Kurt says there is nothing he can tell them. Bo warns him that he could be an accessory to murder, and Marlena says they can protect him from Stefano.
Kurt refuses to stand her and be accused of this, but when he walk off, John grabs him by the neck and threatens to break it unless he tells him what he wants to know. Marlena tells John to come back to her and let Kurt go. John breaks out of his spell and lets Kurt go. Marlena asks John what happened to him? John tells her that he's okay as long as he knows she'll always love him.
Hope is all tied up, but is freed by Stefano, who is not dead after all. Hope tells Stefano that she has good news, John and Bo are here! Stefano knows John knows every inch of the castle, if his memory could return they would be saved. Stefano says they must know the truth about Gina, and Hope says she knew Gina couldn't fool them forever. Stefano tells Hope that the only way they will be saved is if they get Kurt to talk, because he secretly believes John will not remember, but Hope knows Bo will save her.
Hope helps Stefano back into bed, and she tells him that Kurt did bring a doctor to check on her. Stefano says at least he has some humanity, but Hope doesn't think he has enough because he left him to die. Stefano tells Hope that he does not die easily, and he tells Hope that he remembered who he was and that Stefano DiMera does not give up, and he tells her not to either. Hope looks out the window and realizes someone other than John and Bo are here. She tells Stefano that she sees grave diggers, and Stefano thinks the grave is for them! Hope begins to lose hope and realizes if Kurt convinces Bo and John to leave, then they are dead.
3/15 Stefano wakes up coughing to find Hope rubbing the fabric off her stomach. Downstairs, Stefano and Bo, dressed in suits, discuss their next place to look for Hope. Bo suggests maybe Ireland where the whole Stefano/Brady vendetta started. Bo reminds John about how he was with Hope up until John and Marlena's wedding and we get a flash of sub sex as John remembers his honeymoon.
Marlena enters the room and they tell her they had been talking about Hope and how they have to find her. The rest of the gang enter the room. Greta had been in her mother's room looking at her things and trying to say goodbye. Kurt paces and hopes no one finds out what Gina did to Stefano and Hope, or what he's about to do to them. Marlena helps Alice as she tells Greta they're there for her today. Shawn asks his dad what about them? His mom's still out there and they're wasting time looking for her.
Hope sees a hearse arrive below. Stefano joins her at the window and she and Stefano see a casket being removed and wonder what's up. Stefano figures it must be Gina as she's the only one who would be laid to rest there. She figures Bo must have figured out Gina's plan. Stefano figures Bo must think he kidnapped her, but Hope is even more hopeful that Bo will find her. Now by the grave site, the Salem crew stands around the casket. Hope sees Bo and starts yelling and pounding on the window as Stefano lies down being he's so weak.
Kurt joins everyone at the grave site. Greta tells everyone she'd like to say something while Hope prays to God that Bo will find out where she is. Greta tells everyone she knows her mother hurt everyone there, but how she made her life richer and warmer. Her life will never be as bright now, but she believes her mother will always be watching over her. She knows her mother floated up to her in the lagoon as she was reaching out to be buried at the castle and to tell her something she couldn't do before she died. Kurt is touched by this and says he does, he knows.
Hope watches, knowing the people she loves most are out there. She knows the turret is soundproof, but they can see her through the window if they just look up. Kurt covers by saying he knows this is where Gina would like to spend eternity. Greta apologizes for her part in her mother's deception and hopes that someday, somehow and starts crying on Eric's shoulder. As the mortician starts to lower the casket, the crank gets away from him and the casket falls.
Everyone is freaking out and the casket opens. Gina is lying there dressed in black. She points up to the turret as Marlena turns away. Lili faints and Marlena rushes to help her when John orders the mortician to shut the casket. Bo stops them and notices that it looks like Gina is pointing. John doesn't believe it, but Bo figured maybe Gina was trying to tell them something.
Hope watches from the window and tells Bo to look up where Gina's pointing. Bo tells Shawn that Gina didn't finish her last sentence in the hospital and looks up at the window. Only thing is, the sun is shining on it and he can't see her. Hope pounds and calls their names, but starts crying when they don't see her as the credits roll.
3/17 At the chateau in Paris, Lily, Doug, Julie and Alice were talking. Lily told them of some of the happy memories she shared with Princess Gina at this place. They listen to her silently without expression. Doug reminded Lily the reason they were there was to find Hope. He also remarked that they hadn't come up with any clues to Hope's whereabouts yet.
Kurt came upon them and explained he was preparing to leave the castle. He said he had to put out all the fires and shut the fireplace flues. When Alice began to move a bag he had brought into the room with him he got angry with her. He snatched the bag away from her telling her to leave it alone. Doug told him not to talk to Mrs. Horton that way Kurt ignored him and left the room. Angry, Doug went after him. He told the ladies he was going to give Kurt a piece of his mind.
While looking for Kurt, Doug ran into Belle and Shawn in one of the castle corridors. He asked them if they had seen Kurt and when they said they hadn't he left to continue his search. Belle asked Shawn what he was doing. He said he was looking one more time for a clue to where his mother may be. They discussed the fact they would soon be leaving the castle. Kurt crept up on them but was able to slip into a secret passageway undetected. Part of the bag he was carrying got stuck in the door.
Belle told Shawn she saw the bookcase move and they observed all the books that had fallen over. They went over and tried to move the bookcase but it wouldn't budge. Shawn told her it must've been her imagination and began to walk away when he spotted a can of soup on the floor. He picked it up and showed it to her. Kurt had dropped it in his hurry to get to the turret unnoticed. They wondered where it could have come from. They thought it was odd but couldn't figure out how the soup could've gotten there.
Belle straightened up the bookcase and inadvertently opened the secret door. She moved the book again and the door closed. Neither one of them saw this happen. They went to meet with the others to discuss what they would be doing next. Doug returned and told everyone he had searched all over but it seemed Kurt had disappeared.
On the castle grounds, Bo, John and Marlena were looking for any clues concerning Hope. Bo and Marlena think searching the grounds is a waste of time. John disagreed and angrily told Marlena to get out of his way. He shoved her out of his way and then immediately apologized. He explained he was focusing on something and he reminded her he is just as anxious as everyone else is to find Hope. John noticed a funny looking piece of sod and when he moved it a secret staircase was revealed. They all went down the staircase. Bo asked John if he knew what this place was.
At the bottom of the stairs John turned on a light, "Welcome to the dungeon" he said. "John, you've been here before haven't you?" Marlena asked. John had a memory of being dressed as a priest hanging one of the stolen paintings on a wall. John didn't tell Marlena about what he remembered. All he said to her was "Before" and walked away.
They walked into another room and it had the stolen paintings on the wall. Lily came upon them and asked "What is this place?" She spotted her Renet on the wall and excitedly tried to go to it. John grabbed her telling her "No one touches these paintings." Marlena is once again stunned by John's behavior.
John told Lily the reason she couldn't touch the paintings was because they are evidence which will put Stefano away for a long time. He said they have Stefano's fingerprints all over them. He told her once Stefano was put away for all his misdeeds then she could have her paintings back but not before then. Everyone agreed.
Privately, Marlena told John she knew he's been slipping in and out of this other personality. The person he was when Stefano kept him as his prisoner. Marlena asked John when she was going to "find" him again. She asked him to admit he was being controlled by his past with Stefano. Instead he asked her to trust in his love. That is what will get him through this he said. He kissed her. They left to meet with the others to discuss strategy.
Inside the turret, Hope was watching Greta and Eric at Gina’s grave. She was banging on the window and prayed they would see her. Kurt arrived and pulled her away from the window. He said because of the way the sun was shining no one could see her through the window anyway.
Hope broke free from Kurt and went back to banging on the window. She wanted so much for someone to notice her. Kurt got a piece of rope and said he hated to have to do this but she had left him with no other choice. Unable to stop him Stefano watched as Kurt tied Hope up to a chair. Kurt told Hope he and all the others were leaving the castle this morning.
Hope begged Kurt not to let this happen. She pleaded with him to set her free. He refused. He left her with the food he had brought and said he is sure she will figure out a way to untie the knot so she can prepare it. He said by the time she figured out how to free herself everyone would be gone. He left her and Stefano alone. Stefano got off the bed he was lying on and dragged himself over to where Hope was. While untying her he said "Fire." "What?" asked Hope.
Back downstairs, everyone gathered and discussed their plan of action. They decided their next stop would be Dublin, Ireland where they hoped to discover the link between the Brady and DiMera families. "Before we go there's one more thing I need to do" Greta said. Kurt managed to make his way out of the castle unnoticed. He went to Gina's grave and told her he would miss her. He said he did his best to do everything she had asked of him. Greta and Eric overheard Kurt talking at the grave and she called him a liar.
Greta accused Kurt of lying about her mother since the beginning and rather than help them he had done nothing but hinder them. He lied to her and said he really did believe the Princess had died many years ago. He told them he had been living in a fantasy world here at the castle for a long time and had always tried to keep Gina's memory alive.
He said them bringing Gina's body back to the castle is what caused him to realize his fantasy is over. Greta and Eric were spooked by Kurt's odd behavior. She placed a pressed rose her mother had given her years ago on the ground where she was buried. They left Kurt alone. To himself Kurt said "I really did love you Princess." He said he was sorry for not protecting her from this disaster.
Back in the turret, Hope realized Stefano was trying to tell her if she built a fire she could send out smoke signals that would draw the others attention. She began looking for things to burn. She noticed activity outside and went to the window to see what was going on. She watched as her family and friends got in their cars to leave. She was devastated.
Stefano continued to work on getting the fire started. After it was already lit he realized Spring Morning was burning up. That was the last painting that had been stolen by Hope when she was brainwashed to believe she was Princess Gina. He is stunned. Smoke began to fill the room and he inhaled a lot of smoke which knocked him out. Hope ran to the fireplace and realized the flue was closed. She tried to get it open but the fire was too hot. She yelled for help to no avail. She was also knocked out because of smoke inhalation.
As they were driving away from the castle, John wondered aloud why Bo was driving so slowly behind them. Marlena said it must be because Bo still feels Hope is connected to the castle in some way. In Bo's car, Alice is looking out the side-view mirror and she told the others that before they left Kurt told them he had put out all the fires in the castle and had shut all the flues. Eric told them Kurt was no longer at the castle. He said he and Greta had seen him leave.
3/20 Hope had regained consciousness and saw that the place was on fire. She told Stefano that they had to get out of there, but he was out cold. Hope ran to the door and banged on it, screaming for help, but nobody was there to help them. She looked out the window and saw that the cars were gone, and she screamed for Bo to return. Hope believed it was all over, and as the flames rose higher, she cried.
Hope crawled over to Stefano and tried to wake him up, but he was unresponsive. He finally awoke and told Hope to save herself. Hope said she would save both of them. She covered Stefano's face with a wet towel and prayed to God to let them live. Hope eventually passed out, but before doing so, she said she would see her family again in heaven one day.
In the car, Alice noticed that there was a fire going in the castle. Bo wondered who could have started the fire if Kurt was gone? He suddenly realized it was Hope. Bo stopped his car and turned around, so John followed him. They arrived at the castle, and John said they had searched the top floor. Bo said they had never gone up to the turret.
Doug called for help as Bo, John, Eric, and Shawn broke into the castle. Alice said that she had faith everything would work out, and Marlena said that faith would carry them through.
Bo and Shawn began searching one side of the chateau, and John and Eric took the other. Shawn remembered that earlier, Belle had sworn she had seen the bookcase move, so he told his dad about it. They started pushing on the bookcase, but it wasn't moving. They decided to move the books, and Bo found the trigger that opened the passage.
Bo and Shawn climbed the turret and showed up at the door, but it was locked. Bo told Shawn to find something to bust the door down with.
