Bo & Hope #73 April 7 - July 25, 2008: 8 hour original edit

DVD #73A 4/7 Ava was so overjoyed at Steve's response that she allowed herself to fantasize about starting her life over with Steve. Ava told Steve that she could finally have the wedding and honeymoon of her dreams with the man she loved. Angelo walked in and informed Ava that her doctor had arrived and needed to see her immediately. While Ava was gone, Steve and Hope discussed how to break out of the Vitale house without causing suspicion. Hope wished that Bo were there, as he would know exactly what to do. She encouraged Steve to come up with a plan quickly.

4/8 Bo was struggling to leave the hospital, calling out for a nurse. Lexie rushed in to answer Bo's cries, and Bo begged her to let him leave the hospital in order to track down Hope. Lexie reminded Bo that he already told Abe not to search for Hope, but Bo asked Lexie to trust him when he asked her to keep the police out of the situation. Bo refused to say more and when he tried again to get up, Lexie threatened him with restraints and told him Roman was on the way to talk some sense into him. A short while later, Lexie returned to find a tense but calmer Bo. Lexie informed him that Abe was busy in court but that Roman would be there shortly. When Bo again appealed to her to keep the police in the dark about Hope, a confused Lexie demanded to know why. Anxious, Bo asked Lexie why she did not trust him.

"Because I worry about your recovery," Lexie explained. Desperate, Bo begged Lexie to have faith in him and not say a word to Roman about Hope. At that moment Roman entered the room and after taking in the scene, asked Bo why he was so anxious. Bo played dumb and when Roman asked Lexie why she asked him to come down to the hospital, Lexie would only say it was to talk some sense into Bo about checking out of the hospital. When Roman asked where Hope was, Bo jumped in and said Hope was resting. Lexie smiled at Roman and did not contradict Bo's statement. Satisfied, Roman left while Bo quietly whispered a thank you to Lexie.

Later, an extremely tense Kayla marched into Bo's room and demanded answers. Kayla informed Bo that she knew Steve had visited him before his disappearance. Alarmed, Bo asked, "What do you mean disappeared?" A worried Kayla explained about her odd phone call with Steve earlier and when Bo finally started to spill the beans about Ava, Kayla rolled her eyes and told him she knew about his crazy ex-girlfriend already. Confused, Kayla asked Bo how Hope was involved, and Bo was forced to admit that Ava thought Hope was Kayla.

The two discussed police involvement, but Bo nixed the idea, informing Kayla that Ava's family was "connected." Startled, Kayla remembered that she told Roman about Ava, and Bo told Kayla that as long as Roman did not talk to Abe, then neither would think to look into Hope's disappearance. Still frustrated, Bo tried to leave but Kayla pushed him back into bed. When Kayla then tried to leave, Bo warned her that she could not run off either because her pregnancy was still too unstable.

Back at Ava's compound, Hope paced in a bedroom alone. Suddenly, a smiling Steve was knocking on the window. Hope happily rushed over, and Steve explained that the alarms on the window could be circumvented if the window were broken instead of opened. Hope warned Steve to duck out of sight and then rushed over to the radio. With the radio now blaring rock music, Hope pretended to read a book until Angelo burst into the room, demanding she turn the music down. Hope grudgingly obliged and turned it down only slightly.

The grumpy Angelo retreated from the room and once the door was shut again, Hope broke the window while the music covered for the noise of the shattering glass. With escape now possible, Hope hopped out of the window and took off across the grounds with Steve. The two were just about to scale the perimeter wall when a guard stopped them. A quick-thinking Steve got the jump on the guard, knocking him out, but the delay allowed Angelo to catch up. With guns leveled at them, Steve and Hope were forced to surrender to Angelo.

Angelo brought in Steve and Hope. Ava was furious and refused to believe Steve when he professed his love for her. Steve explained that he only wanted to protect his wife because she was pregnant and innocent, but Ava did not seem to feel the least bit sympathetic. After Ava made a vague threat against Hope, Steve warned Ava that although he loved her, he would not let her hurt his wife. Ava and Steve agreed to have dinner together and as Ava contemplated whether to believe Steve was being honest with her, Angelo rushed in with a cell phone for Ava. A gleeful Ava eagerly grabbed the cell phone and told Steve that it was her insurance policy. Opening the phone, Ava explained that although Steve had said the baby was their first child, she knew all about Stephanie. To Steve's horror, Ava showed Steve a photo of Stephanie on the cell phone. "Escape again and she's dead," Ava purred.

4/11 Nurse Maxine ordered Bo to rest and asked Kayla to keep an eye on him, then left the two of them alone. Bo immediately tried to get out of bed so he could search for Hope and Steve, but Kayla insisted he get back in bed and let her handle it. Bo argued that it wouldn't be good for her or the baby, but she countered that he was in even worse shape. Finally they agreed that until they were discharged, they were powerless to do anything. Bo worried what would happen if Ava figured out she'd kidnapped Hope instead of Kayla, and that Hope was a cop. Kayla urged him to go to the police, but Bo said Steve had been adamant about not involving them. He said he had another idea, then picked up the phone.

Soon Victor joined Kayla at Bo's bedside and described Ava's family, the Vitalis, for Bo. He depicted them as a very dangerous Mafia family, underscored the fact that they were known to even torture their own members and order hits on their rivals purely for effect. He added that they'd likely had people in the police department on their payroll. Bo asked if Victor knew anyone on the inside who could give them any info, but Victor said people who had been with the family would never talk for fear of being killed.

He then asked why Bo wanted to know, and Bo claimed it was for a police investigation. Victor implored him to let another officer handle any case involving the Vitalis, and Bo agreed to consider it. After telling his son to just concentrate on getting well, Victor left for a meeting. Kayla asked Bo what he planned to do, and Bo replied that he had no choice but to take care of things himself. Kayla exhorted him that it was much too risky, but he was determined. She realized he would never back down, so she declared she was coming too.

He tried to argue with her, but she insisted that, as a doctor, the only way she'd allow him to leave was if she could keep an eye on him. Before they could reach an agreement, Nurse Maxine returned to tell them their doctors were on the way to examine them both so they could perhaps go home. She politely ordered Dr. Johnson to return to her own room, and Kayla reluctantly complied. As soon as the two women had left, Bo got out of bed. "Hang on, Fancy Face," he pleaded silently. "Wherever you are, I'll find you."

Angelo led Hope and Steve to Ava's room, where Ava had set up a romantic dinner for two. As Hope commented that it was unlikely one of the place settings was for her, Ava appeared in the doorway wearing a lacy black nightgown and matching lace robe, and informed Hope that she'd be watching while Ava and "Patch" enjoyed an intimate evening. Ava slunk over to Steve and wrapped herself around him, pressing herself to him and kissing him deeply right in front of "Kayla."

Hope played the part of crazy-jealous wife to the hilt, and flew at Ava in a rage. Angelo separated them, and Ava warned Hope to behave lest something happened to her and her unborn baby. Ava then pulled out a chair for Steve and bade Angelo to handcuff Hope to a chair. Steve protested, but Ava ignored him and began pouring shots of whiskey. Angelo left, and Ava toasted to the past and future with Patch. Hope watched unhappily as a computer screen showed pictures of Steve and Ava together, and as Ava reminisced about how in love they had been. She arose from her chair and draped herself over Steve's shoulders and recounted a night when they'd made love six times, then made sure Hope had heard before kissing Steve's neck.

Finally Steve had had enough. He told Ava that he didn't appreciate her blatant attempts to make Kayla jealous, and that she'd never win him back that way or by having his daughter followed. When she smugly told him that she'd had her guy pay off Stephanie's bodyguard, Steve went ballistic, grabbing her by the arm and demanding to know what she had done to his daughter. He then lowered his voice and, carefully measuring his words, warned Ava, "Every time you threaten my wife or my daughter, any chance of reconciliation between us slips further away." Her eyes filled with fear as she back pedaled hastily and apologized, and then invited him to sit again. She wanted to continue talking about the days when they were in love, and the screen changed to a picture of the two of them kissing.

She recalled that it was their first kiss, but Steve reminded her that it had nearly gotten him killed. Ava explained to Hope that Angelo had threatened to show the picture to her father, but she'd stopped him because she already knew that she loved Patch. Steve remembered how afraid he'd been to get involved with Ava, because her father did not approve when she'd dated his employees.

Ava had divulged that she'd talked to her father, and though he hadn't exactly given his blessing, he hadn't forbidden their relationship because she'd told him she loved Patch. As Steve's mind replayed the memory of telling Ava he loved her more than anything, his expression changed, and he rose to kiss Ava across the table. Hope begged him to stop and look in his pocket. Finally he pulled away from Ava and removed a piece of paper from his back pocket, and unfolded it to reveal a printout from Kayla's sonogram. Ava was furious that she would manipulate Steve to get him back, but Hope reminded him that he had missed Stephanie's entire childhood. She asked if he wanted the child she was carrying to also grow up without knowing its father. "I'm sorry, Kayla," he replied evenly. "This is where I belong." Ava's eyes lit up. "I knew you'd come around," she said, and pulled him into a kiss as Hope looked on helplessly.

4/14 Hope was frustrated at being held prisoner, and searched for a way to escape while Ava had Steve held captive in her bedroom. Steve returned to Hope to give her an update on what was going on. Steve told Hope that he felt responsible for Ava's state of mind. Hope told Steve that she was surprised at the extent of his relationship with Ava. Hope reminded Steve that it was important for him to remember that his relationship with Ava was part of his past. Angelo caught Steve in Hope's room and told him that Ava would not be pleased that he was visiting Hope (who they thought was Kayla) and ordered him back to his room.

Bo asked Lexie to prepare the paperwork for his discharge from the hospital as soon as possible. Lexie advised Bo that she was concerned about his health. She urged him to call Abe to help him find Hope. Bo explained to Lexie that it was too dangerous to involve the police at that time and for her to trust him. Daniel entered the room and reminded Bo that he was recovering from major surgery. Daniel told Bo that he would agree to sign the discharge papers provided Bo followed his post-operative instructions. Daniel explained the importance of taking all prescribed medication, and said Bo should call immediately if he experienced any side effects. He urged Bo to get plenty of rest. Bo agreed to the terms and thanked Daniel for saving his life. Bo called Caroline and asked his mom for a favor.

Caroline picked up Bo and Kayla from the hospital but questioned the whereabouts of Steve and Hope. Bo and Kayla asked Caroline to drop them off at the Brady Pub and not to ask any questions. Caroline, a wise mother, knew Bo and Kayla were up to something and begged them to be careful and take care of each other. Bo showed Kayla a surveillance disc from hospital security. Bo said that he hoped the information on the disc would help lead him to Hope. Kayla and Bo put a plan together to find their spouses. Bo sensed that Hope was in danger.

4/15 Bo lay soundly asleep in his darkened hospital room as a smiling Ava crept in with a syringe full of drugs. Ava injected his IV, causing Bo's heart rate monitor to flatline. Fortunately, this was all just a nightmare that Hope was having during her restless sleep at the Vitali compound. Tired, Hope finally fell back asleep and this time dreamt that Ava went to see the real Kayla after learning the truth.

In a second dream, an angry Ava argued with Kayla who begged for her baby's life, to no avail. The two women struggled and Ava tossed Kayla out the nearby window. In the real world, Hope tossed and turned in her sleep and had a third dream, this time about Bo walking along the foggy docks. When Hope tried to stop him in her dream, he told her he had to keep going because he was going to visit Pop and their son. A tearful Hope begged him to stay, but Bo told her to be careful of Ava and know that he would always love his Fancy Face. Terrified, Hope sat bolt upright and hurriedly began to search the room for an escape.

At the Brady Pub, Bo played the hospital surveillance DVD while Kayla watched the footage over his shoulder. After a little searching, the two finally found what they were looking for on the DVD when they spotted Hope's car leaving the parking lot with another woman at the wheel, while Hope lay slumped over in the backseat. Kayla immediately tried to calm a frantic Bo, and then the two worked to think of where Ava might have taken Hope. When Kayla began to worry if Steve and Hope were hurt, it was Bo's turn to remind her not to panic and stay positive. After a few sweat-filled moments, Bo finally remembered that new security cameras had been installed on all the bridges in town. Bo furiously dialed up his friend Bill and asked him to find information on Hope's car. While Bo waited for a call back from Bill, Kayla nervously searched the pub for food to eat. After a couple of tense minutes, Bill called back and told them that the car was spotted headed into Brookville, a large area to the north.

With a lot of ground to cover, Kayla and Bo brainstormed for ideas of how to find Steve and Hope. They figured out that Ava was likely not alone and that her family might have land in the area. Bo reached out to a street informant named Earl, who arrived a little later. When Bo could only offer $250, Earl balked at giving Bo any information. At his wit's end, Bo grabbed Earl by the collar and screamed, "Listen up you little weasel! Those people have my wife and you don't start talking, I will break you in half!"

Kayla stepped in to ask Earl a little more nicely, and Earl informed them that the Vitalis had a compound on the hill staffed with a large number of armed guards. Before leaving, Earl cautioned them not to storm the place because it could get Hope killed whether she was at the compound or not. Bo grabbed his gun and argued with Kayla about whether either of them should run off to the Vitali compound, but ultimately they both agreed to go and inform one another if they needed medical attention.

4/16 At the Vitali compound, Angelo threw Hope into Steve's bedroom when the perimeter was breached by intruders. Angelo advised Ava about that the perimeter had been breached and tried to keep her calm. Ava was worried that there would be more bloodshed, but Angelo continued to try to calm her down and soothe her nerves. Steve began to bang on the door, calling out to Ava. Though Angelo advised Ava not to go in, Ava demanded to see Steve. Angelo opened the door and Ava cautiously entered the room to find a pleading Steve, asking Ava to let Hope go, so Steve and Ava could start their life together. As Hope played along, yelling at Steve and Ava, Ava remembered her past with Steve. However, the memories caused her to visibly shake and grab her head in pain. Steve tried to hold her but Ava flailed her arms and screamed.

Out in the compound's yard, Bo and Kayla scurried across the grounds and ran into the bushes to avoid detection. Grimacing, Bo was clearly in a lot of pain from the effort of breaking into the compound. Kayla begged Bo to go along with her plan, but he steadfastly refused. As Bo breathed heavily, wincing with every gasp, Kayla calmly walked into the open yard and into the flashlights of the oncoming security guards. After the guards frisked Kayla, she demanded to see Ava, telling the guards that she was Steve's wife. Confused, the guards tried to radio Angelo but could not reach him. With the guards distracted by the radio, Bo attacked from behind, knocking out both guards. Bo and Kayla handcuffed the guards in the bushes and headed up toward the house. Inside the Vitali house, Angelo continued to hold a gun on Steve when a guard rushed in and told him that two guards had been found tied up outside. Angelo pulled Ava into the hallway, leaving Steve and Hope tied up and locked inside the bedroom behind them. Once Angelo ran off in pursuit of the intruders, Ava used the keys she took from Angelo’s pocket to go back into the bedroom. Ava calmly squatted in front of Steve and told him that she knew he never intended to leave Kayla but that she wanted to hear him admit it. When Ava asked Steve if he was only there for Kayla,

Bo and Kayla burst into the room, guns drawn. "That's right!" said Bo. With the gun pointed at Ava, Bo hurried to untie Hope who then hugged him tightly. Kayla rushed to Steve's side and put her gun down on the bed behind Steve so that she could untie him. Once he was unbound, Steve kissed Kayla, sighing, "Oh, Sweetness." Horrified, Ava watched the scene unfold before her. "Who the hell are you?" she asked Kayla. "I'm Steve's wife. Kayla." Steve, Kayla, Bo, and Hope ran for the door, hoping to avoid Angelo, but with their backs turned on Ava, she took the opportunity to grab Kayla's gun. Ava called out to the foursome and fired a shot directly into Hope's stomach. Shocked, Bo quickly raised his gun in response.

4/17 Ava shot Hope. Steve rushed Ava and knocked her out, as the others rushed to Hope's aid. Hope was only hit in the shoulder. Kayla tended to her while they considered their options. Hope, Bo, Steve and Kayla started to escape while Ava was unconscious. As they sneaked out, Ava came to and set off an alarm. Suddenly, the foursome was surrounded by heavily-armed guards. Hope was losing blood and fainted as the guards jumped Bo and Steve. The fight stopped. Ava ordered the guards to kill them all. Steve tried to talk Ava out of it. He begged her to take him and leave the others alone. Ava was about to shoot Steve when Angelo spoke up and stopped her. He'd do it. Hope asked Ava to tell them why she hated Steve so much. They wanted to know what he did to her. Ava agreed to tell them the love story of Patch and Ava. The Salemites had bought themselves some time.

4/18 Ava stood in the doorway of her room with Angelo hovering protectively behind her and asked her prisoners if they were sure they wanted to hear what Steve had done to her. Though she was bleeding badly from the bullet Ava had put in her shoulder, Hope asserted that if they were going to be killed anyway, they should at least hear why Ava hated Steve so much. Bo concurred, because he said he couldn't imagine that his old friend was capable of doing something as horrible as Ava claimed. Ava consented, but said she'd rather start at the end of the story.

While a weakening Hope leaned against Bo on the bed, and Kayla sat in a chair near them-and with Steve bravely standing to face his former lover-Ava cut right to the chase. She told them that she had believed that she and "Patch" were very much in love-soul mates, even-until their wedding day. She recounted how they had eloped to a small chapel in Nevada. She had worn a short, lacy white dress and carried a simple bouquet of wildflowers she'd picked nearby. Clad all in black, his long hair in a ponytail, Steve had beamed at his bride from the altar as she arrived at the back of the church. They'd mouthed "I love you" to each other while the priest and their two witnesses waited for Ava to walk down the aisle.

Ava stopped and sarcastically asked Steve if she was telling the story right. He assured her that she was, then turned to apologize to Kayla before pleading with Ava to stop, to forget about the past, and to move on. Ava retorted that the past wasn't over for her, so Hope weakly encouraged her to continue. Ava angrily insisted Patch take over the storytelling from there, and he reluctantly agreed, though he told Kayla he wanted to do it. Steve picked up the story where Ava had left off, with him watching happily as she started down the aisle toward him, until suddenly he'd begun to feel strange. He said he had started having flashes of another wedding-his wedding to Kayla, though he didn't know it at the time-and he knew something was wrong. He earnestly told Ava, "I just knew, in my gut, in my heart, I couldn't go through with it."

Kayla watched sadly as Ava, her face streaked with tears, bitterly told him to continue because she hadn't heard this part of the story yet. As the flashes continued in his head, Steve said, he unconsciously backed out of the church, stumbling as he exited the side door. He'd gasped for air and held his head as he tried to make sense of the images in his mind. He said he'd realized he had to go back inside and explain why he couldn't go through with the wedding, but before he could, two men had grabbed him from behind and dragged him away, throwing him into the back of his own car.

Ava stopped him and asked if he really expected her to believe that, or if he thought she was stupid. He swore it was the truth, and that he had never intended to hurt her. Her voice breaking, she told him a part of her had died when she realized he wasn't coming back. He apologized again, and gently asked if he could explain the whole story. Ava said he'd just lie to her again, but Bo asked her to let Steve finish. Hope agreed that she'd like to hear the rest, and Kayla softly said, "So would I." Ava was clearly becoming angrier and more disinclined to listen, but she told Steve to go ahead. He related the story of how Stefano DiMera had abducted him, held him prisoner, erased his memory, and faked his death, in order to cause pain to Steve's loved ones. Ava acknowledged that Hope had told her something about that. Steve went on that after years of being Stefano's prisoner, he'd managed to escape, but he had no idea who he was or even where to go.

"I was lost," he said, looking levelly at Ava, "but then I met you." He confided that falling in love with Ava had given him a reason to live. He swore on everything they had meant to each other that he had wanted to marry her, and that it had killed him not to be able to tell her goodbye. Ava's face crumpled, and Kayla closed her eyes, wiping away tears of her own. Steeling herself, Ava offered to pick up the story from there, since she knew Steve had no way to know what had happened to her after that. She said after he had left the church, she thought he must have just been playing a game, so she waited for him. When she realized he wasn't coming back, she ran out the side door to look for him, but there was no sign of him. Devastated, she had collapsed in sobs in the churchyard. "The next thing I knew," she said, "I was in an ambulance being taken to a hospital, where I stayed for quite some time."

Afterwards, she continued, her father had brought her back home and locked her in her room, claiming it was for her own good, and she had been there ever since. Kayla's cheeks were again wet with tears, and she, Hope, and Bo were clearly moved and saddened by Ava's tragic tale. His voice a whisper, and crying now himself, Steve managed, "I'm so sorry, Ava." She erupted in anger, sobbing and lashing out at Steve for ruining her life and turning her into the person she'd become-and whom she despised. "I hate you!" she shrieked and beat at his chest, as both Steve and Kayla wept miserably.

4/21 At the Vitale mansion, Ava was devastated after she explained to Steve, Kayla, Bo, and Hope that she was never the same after Steve left her standing at the altar. Steve tried to apologize to Ava but she screamed at him and told him that she could never forgive him. Ava blamed Steve for her years of psychiatric treatment that included isolation, confinement, and various drug regimens. Ava told them that she had been through hell. Ava's state of mind was drifting in and out of reality and her behavior became very erratic. She lovingly approached Steve and fantasized about their wedding day. Ava thought about how happy she and Steve would have been if he hadn't left her at the church that day. As Kayla watched Ava embrace Steve, Kayla became hysterical and yelled at Ava as the one responsible for her father's death and for taking everyone hostage.

Ava became violent and ordered Angelo and George to kill everyone. Kayla intervened and pleaded with Ava to think about her actions. Kayla let Ava feel her baby move and told Ava that this baby was innocent and should not die because of what happened in her past. Kayla told Ava that they were all sorry for what had happened to her. Steve asked Angelo to get help for Ava because if she killed them, Ava could spend the rest of her life in prison. Angelo agreed with Steve and convinced Ava to cancel the hit. Ava told Steve that her life was meaningless without him and left the room. Angelo had everyone restrained. Hope's condition worsened and eventually she passed out from her gunshot wound.

Bo tried to revive her but could not break free from his restraints. Bo, Steve, and Kayla told George that Hope needed medical treatment and to call 911. George checked on Hope and said she was fine, but Bo was not happy with George's answer and kicked him. George hit Bo in the face with his gun and knocked him unconscious. Ava returned to the room with Angelo and told Steve and Kayla that she was going to spare their lives under one condition-she wanted Kayla's baby as her own, and Kayla would agree to be the surrogate. Ava told Steve that he and Kayla already had a child together and they owed her this child as payback for the pain Steve had caused her.

Ava told Steve and Kayla that after the baby was born, she would decide which of them would live or die. Steve screamed back at Ava and told here that there was no way she would take his and Kayla's baby. Steve turned to Kayla and apologized for all the pain he was causing her as a result of his past.

4/22 Lexie left an anxious voice mail for Bo, stressing that his daughter needed him.

4/25 Roman and Abe entered the pub and found a table. Abe quickly brought a stunned Roman up to speed about how Bo, Hope, Steve, and Kayla were all missing, and that Ava Vitali was likely responsible. Roman agreed that they needed to figure out where Ava had taken them, because if the Vitalis had anything to do with their disappearance, the four of them were in great danger. A short time later, Roman and Abe met Earl, Bo's informant, in front of the Pub. Earl initially refused to talk with them about the Vitalis, but Roman threatened to throw him in jail for resisting arrest. Earl reluctantly divulged the location of the Vitali compound in Brookville. Roman paid Earl for his trouble and told him to get lost, while Abe called for backup.

At the Vitali compound, Angelo and Mikey held guns on their tied-up captives, Bo, Hope, and Kayla, and led them through the hallway. Kayla stopped and defiantly demanded to see her husband. Angelo heard Ava's shouts as she yells at Steve and he ordered Mikey to lock up their hostages in separate rooms. In a flash, Bo untied himself and punched out both men, then grabbed Mikey's gun. While he untied Hope, the two agreed they should both get to a hospital, but first they had to rescue Steve and Kayla. Bo retrieved the keys from Mikey's pocket, and gave Angelo's gun to Hope.

Steve and Kayla heard the commotion in the hallway, and rushed to the door. Kayla put her ear to the door while and Steve searched for something to open it with. While they were thus distracted, Ava opened the nightstand and pulled out a gun. "Patch," she said quietly, and the two of them turned to see the gun pointed at them. "You're not leaving me." Steve asked her to put the gun down, but she refused, and threatened to shoot anyone who entered. Bo announced he was coming in, then he and Hope burst through the door. Steve immediately wrestled with Ava for the gun, which went off, firing harmlessly into the ceiling, and then he slapped Ava hard across the face. She held her cheek in horror and disbelief as Bo, Hope, and Steve kept their guns on her. Bo asked if they were all right, and Kayla and Steve exchanged a long look before Kayla nodded and replied softly, "Yeah. We're fine."

Steve informed the others that Ava had paid off Stephanie's bodyguard, so Bo handed him Angelo's phone to call and check on her. Steve dialed his daughter's cell, but got no answer, so he tossed the phone back to Bo and told him to call for backup. Steve sat on the sofa next to Ava, who looked bewildered and asked him what happened. Steve gently asked her to come with him and led her out the door. The five of them went into the hallway, and just then Angelo's walkie-talkie crackled as one of his men tried to call in. Bo threatened to shoot Angelo if he answered, so he grudgingly handed it to Bo. Bo then shoved Angelo and Mikey into the bedroom and locked the door.

Meanwhile, Roman and Abe had arrived on the grounds, and crept up to the house with guns drawn until they heard Bo calling out to them. Bo and Hope emerged from the shadows, followed by Kayla and Steve, who held his arm around Ava protectively. Abe asked if they were all right, and they told him that Hope had been shot and both she and Bo needed to get to the hospital. Abe read Ava her rights and handcuffed her, while she just stared somewhat blankly at Steve. As Abe led Ava away, Roman assured Steve and Kayla that he'd sent a squad car to check on Stephanie. Roman then followed Bo and Hope to the ambulance. Steve tried to comfort a worried and upset Kayla, whispering "Sweetness," and caressing her cheek tenderly.

4/28 Ava was taken into custody. Abe told Bo and Hope that Chelsea had been readmitted to the hospital. Bo and Hope arrived at the hospital to visit Chelsea and talk to Daniel about her condition. Bo was upset and felt guilty that Chelsea had had a relapse and was suffering as a result of the transplant. Bo told her he had never wanted her to make the sacrifice. Chelsea assured Bo that having the surgery and helping her dad was the best thing she had done in her life and that she would agree to surgery again if necessary.

Daniel reminded everyone that Chelsea had known the risks and that it had been her decision to have the surgery. Daniel explained to Chelsea's family that she had contracted an infection and that he was treating her with a regimen of antibiotics that would eventually cure the infection. However, Chelsea was diagnosed with peritonitis, a very serious poisonous infection that caused irreversible damage to her pelvic area and fallopian tubes. Daniel was saddened to inform Chelsea and her family that, due to the considerable scarring, she would never be able to have children.

4/29 At Salem Hospital, Bo and Hope hovered over Chelsea while she slept. Lexie asked Bo to stay for some tests to ensure that his ordeal at the Vitalis' had not set his health back. Bo refused to leave Chelsea, and when Daniel entered, Bo turned his frustration on Daniel. Daniel advised Bo not to expend the energy worrying when it could not help the situation. Bo angrily questioned Daniel's patient care with Chelsea and the two began to argue. As their voices grew louder, Chelsea stirred awake and asked Bo to listen and trust Daniel. Hope asked Lexie and Daniel to give Bo some time alone with Chelsea. The doctors agreed, and before leaving the room, Daniel promised Chelsea that he would be back.

Bo and Hope sat next to Chelsea's bed and fussed over her. Shortly thereafter, a nurse arrived to collect Bo for his tests, leaving Hope behind to say how proud she was of Chelsea. Hope started to say that if they had known infertility could have happened, she might not have signed off on Bo's surgery, but Chelsea interrupted to say that she did not believe Hope would have let Bo die.

A tearful Chelsea then went on to tell Hope that she'd had a dream about Zack the night before and that she felt her infertility was her punishment for killing Zack. Hope firmly told her never to say that again, while a saddened Bo listened to them from the doorway. Staring into Chelsea's eyes, Hope held back her tears and told Chelsea that what had happened to Zach had been God's plan and that he'd died because of an accident. The two hugged and exclaimed their love for one another. Later, Hope headed out to have Lexie check on her shoulder, and Bo took her place at Chelsea's side. Hope returned a short time later and found Bo sitting on Chelsea's bed, cradling his daughter in his arms.

4/30 Bo took a stuffed animal to Chelsea in her hospital room. She admitted to her dad that it was weird to think about never being able to have kids but added that she'd rather live in the moment. Bo told her he'd talked to Billie, and the two of them thought it might be a good idea if Chelsea talked with Marlena. Chelsea said she'd prefer to handle everything on her own.

Hope took Ciara by to see her big sister, but before Chelsea could even give the toddler a hug, a nurse entered to tell Chelsea it was time for some more tests. Chelsea was pleased to hear that if the results looked good, she could go home soon, but she wanted to know why Daniel wasn't the one giving her the news. The nurse just said that Daniel wasn't on call. Chelsea thought it was odd that he'd left without saying goodbye. The nurse advised them all that the tests would take a while, so Bo and Hope kissed Chelsea goodbye and left with Ciara.

An anxious Bo waited in the hall outside Chelsea's room, contemplating how his Pop had given his life for him and how Chelsea had sacrificed her ability to have children. Hope and Ciara found him and assured him he shouldn't blame himself, but Bo countered that Chelsea would still be able to have kids if she hadn't gone through with the transplant surgery. He pulled his wife and daughter close and kissed them both lovingly.

5/1 Hope questioned Chelsea about her daydream, and Chelsea said she was thinking about family. Hope told Daniel that Bo hadn't meant it when he'd blamed Daniel for Chelsea's infertility. Hope asked him for special instructions on taking care of Chelsea, but Daniel told her he was no longer Chelsea's doctor. Bo later ran into Daniel in the hospital corridor, and Daniel advised him not to blame himself for Chelsea's condition. Daniel said he would rather Bo blame him. Bo said assigning blame didn't undo what had been done to Chelsea, and he had to help her through the difficult time. Bo suggested Chelsea move back in with him and Hope. Hope questioned Daniel on why he'd decided to take himself off Chelsea's case.

At Bo and Hope's house, Nick stopped by with cookies and magazines for Chelsea to read, and Chelsea told him she didn't deserve him. Chelsea assured Bo that her infertility was not his fault, and if she had it to do all over again, she would have the operation to save his life.

5/2 On his knees in a dark alley, a badly beaten Earl pleaded with Mr. Vitali to spare his life. He swore that Bo had threatened to kill him if he didn't reveal where the Vitali compound was. Martino assured Earl that everyone deserved a second chance, but later, he and his thugs stood over Earl's dead body, gazing at it dispassionately as the blood flowed unchecked across the pavement. 5/6 Sami filled John in on his earlier bout with amnesia when he had left Marlena in the middle of their honeymoon in order to have sex with Hope. As John's eyebrow popped up in curiosity, Sami began to explain what had happened. More memory flashes of Hope pretending to drown in order to lure John out to sea and of Hope seducing John on the submarine went through John's mind. The memories were commingled with more memory flashes of Stefano standing in the lab, holding the disk. When Sami told him that Hope had thought she was someone else, John nodded in agreement and said, "Princess Gina." Sami shares that it was really devastating for her mom and her uncle, Bo. John thanked Sami for her storytelling because it had taken the pressure off of him.

5/7 Chelsea dozed on the couch of the Brady house, where Bo overheard her mumbling Daniel's name in her sleep. When she awoke, Bo urged his daughter to go upstairs and get some more rest, but she complained that she was tired of being cooped up indoors and wanted to get out of the house. When he admonished her to take care of her health, she reminded him that he was supposed to be resting as well and suggested that he keep her company. He agreed, and the two settled in on the couch. Bo asked what Chelsea had been dreaming about when he had entered. She said she didn't remember, and before they could get much further, Morgan dropped by with coffee and pastries. Though Chelsea protested that she'd promised Hope to keep him home, Bo used Morgan's arrival as an excuse to beat a hasty retreat to the station.

At the PD, Bo arrived as Roman and another officer were leading Ava to booking, Bo arrived. Though Roman cautioned him against it, Bo read Ava the riot act, telling her she was going to get exactly what she deserved in prison for killing Shawn and shooting Hope. He taunted her about how her beloved "Patch" was at home with his wife. As Abe walked out of his office and demanded to know what was going on, Bo vowed through clenched teeth, "You're going to pay for what you did to my family, you bitch." Roman pulled Bo away. Ava quietly apologized, and while Bo fell into stunned silence, she added that she deserved to be punished for what she had done. After she'd been taken to her cell, Roman remarked, "Apparently, detox worked miracles for her disposition."

Bo expressed surprise that it really had been the drugs that had made her do the things she'd done and that her father had ordered them given to her. He was further stunned when Roman and Abe informed him that Martino was having breakfast with Kate at the pub. A uniformed officer entered and informed the group that they had just pulled Dr. Neusbaum's dead body out of the river. Bo declared that he was taking Martino Vitali in for questioning and stormed out. Roman wants to stop him but Abe suggests that they allow Bo to confront Vitalli and put him on notice! Bo burst in to the pub, and the whole pub fell silent as he angrily confronted Martino. Martino apologized for what Ava had put Bo and his family through. Bo ordered Martino to send his goons outside and told Kate to leave. Once the two men were alone, Martino asked what Bo wanted. In response, Bo hauled off and punched him in the mouth. As the other patrons gasped in shock, Martino just rubbed his jaw and said, "Good shot."

5/8 Bo went ballistic at the pub, having cold-cocked Martino. Bo threatened to kill Martino. Max rushed to Bo, trying to calm the explosive situation. Martino complied with Bo's demands and allowed Bo to handcuff him. Ava arrived and thought maybe her father should be arrested. She didn't know if she'd ever be well again, thanks to that awful doctor her father forced on her. She needed time to sort things out. Roman arrived and subdued Bo. Roman and Abe told Bo to let Martino go, for the moment. Bo told Martino he would make Martino pay for what he'd done to Bo, Bo's family, and Martino's own daughter.

5/9 At the police station, Abe relayed Ava's warning to Bo that he should be extra careful because he'd threatened Ava's father. Abe and Roman then removed a chagrined Bo from the Vitali case. Hope arrived and volunteered to work on Dr. Neusbaum's murder. Bo objected on the grounds that it was too dangerous, but Abe and Roman reminded Bo that his wife was more than capable, plus she already knew all the facts. As the four cops reviewed the details of the case, Roman pointed out that not even the Feds had been able to take Martino Vitali down. Abe concurred but noted that they had plenty of evidence against Ava. They all agreed that they weren't likely to find any forensic evidence to link Martino to the shrink's murder nor to that of Earl the snitch, though they had obviously both been professional hits. Hope vowed she wouldn't give up until she could connect Vitali to those murders.

Abe officially gave Hope the Neusbaum case, and Bo pleaded with him to at least let Bo and Hope be partners. Abe asserted that Bo had compromised the department by attacking Martino, and Hope reminded him that he'd been ordered to take it easy. When Abe offered to let Bo help out from the sidelines, Bo grumpily agreed. They all then discussed possible charges against Ava. Roman asserted that Ava's lawyers would do whatever it took to keep her out of prison and that she would probably manage to get away with kidnapping and shooting Hope. Abe declared that they should focus on building a case against Martino, who was the real threat. Roman agreed and said it appeared that Ava was a victim herself. When Hope learned that Ava had hinted that she might help them build a case against her father, she wanted to go talk to Ava right away. However, Abe ordered her and Bo to go home and spend some quality time together first, and then Hope could start fresh the next day.

When the Bradys arrived home, Hope wanted to discuss the Vitali case, but Bo petulantly reminded her that he'd been assigned to desk duty. Openly flirting with him, Hope praised his abilities as a cop and told him she'd still like his input. She wrapped her arms around him. Bo loosened up a little and began kissing his wife. Hope then called Maggie and arranged to pick up Ciara in an hour. As Hope began shedding clothing, Bo protested that an hour wasn't long enough. "Then let's not waste time, and get moving!" Hope playfully declared then scampered up the stairs with Bo close behind her.

5/13 At the Salem Police Department, Bo stopped by to have a look at Earl Larson's file. As Bo admitted how upset he was that Earl was killed for talking to him, Sami frantically rushed into the office. Sami begged Roman to talk to Lucas and convince him to see her before she did something stupid.

In Hope's living room, Hope had tea with Kayla. Not fooled by Hope's hovering, Kayla asked her whether Steve had pushed Hope to keep her company and take her to the doctor. Hope admitted Steve had asked her, and a defiant Kayla stated that she was not afraid of the Vitalis. Unsure, Hope cautioned Kayla that an extra pair of eyes on her back could only help. Kayla said that she felt Ava's behavior was all due to the drugs, but Hope reminded her that Ava not only shared a past with Steve, but that Ava was still Martino Vitali's daughter. Running late, Hope hurried Kayla out the door in order to make her doctor's appointment on time. Before Ava could question his silence, Kayla and Hope wandered into the same hallway and the foursome shared an awkward silence. Ava quietly thanked Kayla for diagnosing her problem, and Kayla inquired about Ava's health. Ava admitted she was much better, and then she wished Kayla luck at her appointment. As Kayla and Hope quickly walked away, Angelo chided Ava for her comments.

Back at Bo and Hope's, Kayla and Hope returned from the doctor's appointment. A frustrated Kayla was upset that the doctor had ordered her on bed rest for the rest of the pregnancy, but Hope reminded her that she had to do what was best for the baby. Kayla agreed that she would, but told Hope that she had no intention of forgetting about the Vitali family. Trying to lift Kayla's spirits, Hope headed into the kitchen to fetch tea and apple pie. As Kayla sat alone in the living room, she suddenly clenched her stomach in pain. Steve made a phone call to Bo and cryptically clued him in that he was being followed. Bo hung up the phone at the police station and turned to Roman saying, "Steve's in trouble."

5/14 Hope and Kayla were sitting on Hope's couch, enjoying some tea, when Bo called to tell his wife that Steve was in trouble. He urged her not to let Kayla know what was going on, so as nonchalantly as possible she told him she loved him and she'd be right there.

Down on the docks, a gunman watched through his rifle's scope as Steve paced and played his harmonica, unaware that Steve had spotted him and called for help. The man kept trying to get a bead on his target, but Steve managed to stay just out of range by ducking behind crates and pillars. Suddenly, the gunman had a clear shot-but before he could fire off a round, he felt the barrel of a pistol against his own temple. Bo stood over him and put him under arrest. Another officer handcuffed the gunman while Bo read him his rights and Hope searched his pockets. With a look of satisfaction, Hope pulled out the man's wallet and showed it to Steve. As the officer led the gunman to the squad car, Hope remarked that she hoped they could use the new evidence they'd found. Steve asked how Kayla was, and then headed to Bo and Hope's house to pick his wife up.

Kayla, bored with waiting for Hope to return, rose from the couch to call Steve. Before she reached her purse she doubled over in pain. She collapsed on the couch, calling Steve's name, then finally managed to crawl to the phone. She dialed 911 and anxiously told the operator that she was 26 weeks pregnant and thought she was going into labor.

As Ava continued to plead with her father to call off the hit on Steve, Bo flung open the door of the pub. Bo ordered the thugs to sit down and keep their hands visible, and Hope announced that Martino was under arrest. When Martino asked, "For what?" Bo replied, "Two counts of murder, and the attempted murder of Steve Johnson." Ava glowered at her father.

5/15 Back at the Brady Pub, Bo had police officers pat down Ava Vitali's father, Martino, and cousin, Angelo, and take her father's bodyguards away. Martino told Bo he didn't have anything on him, then Hope presented proof that the man who tried to shoot Steve killed Dr. Nussbaum. Martino said they couldn't prove he hired the gunman, but Ava said she could. She said she knew everyone on his payroll.

Angelo told Ava that Dr. Nussbaum was acting on Martino's orders to drug her. Ava told her father he kept her drugged up to keep her from remembering that he'd had her mother killed. She attacked him, and he pulled out a gun from under a napkin and fired while Bo fired his gun at the same time. Martino was fatally shot. After his body was removed, Roman reminded Ava and Angelo that they were still out on bail and weren't allowed to leave town. Bo told Hope that Martino got off easy. As Bo briefed Roman on what happened at the pub, he received word that Kayla had gone into labor.

5/16 Hope and Bo paced in the hallway, where Hope assured an anxious Bo that there was no need to call Caroline unless the doctors couldn't stop Kayla's contractions, but added that Stephanie should be there. Hope called and told Stephanie that her mom was in labor.

Bo and Hope went into Kayla's room to check on her, and Lexie announced that the ultrasound had not revealed any fetal distress. After another contraction, Kayla said she didn't think the drugs were working, and when Sarah examined Kayla she found that she'd dilated a little further. Dr. Elman, troubled that Kayla's contractions were getting stronger and closer together, added another drug into Kayla's I.V. to help slow her labor. Bo and Hope were back in the hall when Stephanie and Chelsea arrived. Hope filled them in about the drugs Kayla was getting to slow her labor while Bo went to ask if Stephanie could go in and see her mom. When the doctors wheeled an incubator past where the Bradys waited in the hall, Chelsea asked Hope if that meant the baby was about to be born. Hope sadly told her it did.

Chelsea confessed she was worried about the baby coming too soon, adding how scared the Johnsons must be. Hope encouraged her to pray and hope for the best. Bo quietly noted to Hope that the ordeal must be hitting close to home for Chelsea, and went to put his arms around his daughter. Hope remembered spending time with Chelsea in the hospital after Chelsea had learned she was infertile. She recalled how she'd tried to convince Chelsea that Zack's death was an accident, and assured her stepdaughter that she loved her very much. Bo then asked Hope if Kayla would have gone into early labor if not for the ordeal at the Vitali compound. Hope said there was no way of knowing, and when Bo stopped short of saying he was glad Martino was dead, Chelsea overheard and demanded to know what they were talking about. Hope reluctantly told her how Martino Vitali had been killed. Chelsea yelled at her dad, worried that he could have been killed, but he urged her to try to forget about it and focus on Kayla.

Bo, Hope, and Chelsea watched as the team of doctors pushed the incubator carrying Baby Boy Johnson past them. inside, Dr. Elman informed the Johnsons he was being taken to the neonatal intensive care unit. A panicked Kayla asked again why the baby wasn't crying. Lexie sadly told her that the he wasn't breathing. "No!" Kayla wailed over and over, sobbing hysterically as a devastated Steve held her, tears streaming down his own face, and Stephanie stood nearby and wept helplessly.

5/21 Bo and Hope were back at work. Bo had become an instant celebrity over his shooting of Vitali.

5/27 Down at the Salem police station, Ava arrived to sign the papers to release her father's body. While she was there, a furious Chelsea stalked up behind her and demanded to know what Ava was doing at the station. Confused, Ava asked Chelsea what her problem was. "My problem is you, bitch!" said Chelsea. Ava was even more puzzled by this exclamation, so Chelsea introduced herself.

Comprehension dawned in Ava's eyes as she realized that Chelsea was Bo's daughter. Ava tried to walk away but Chelsea continued to confront her. Ave then tried to explain herself, but cut it short when she realized that Chelsea had no inclination to listen to any explanations. Chelsea demanded that Ava leave town, but Ava cited that her bail prevented her from leaving Salem. Frustrated, Chelsea warned Ava to stay away from her family. Ava seemed to soften at this and told her that she was fortunate to have a father like Bo that she could be proud of. At that moment Abe returned with the paperwork for Ava's father's body, prompting Ava to say to him, "What do I do now? Get a shovel and bury the son of a bitch myself?"

At the Brady Pub, Daniel stopped by at Bo's invitation. When Daniel saw Bo at the bar with Nick and Maggie, he immediately asked if the request to come over was because of Chelsea. Nick and Bo appeared bewildered by the question, and Daniel explained that when he saw Chelsea's father and boyfriend together, he had just assumed Chelsea was the reason. Smirking, Nick corrected Daniel and explained that he was Chelsea's ex-boyfriend. Bo explained that he had invited Daniel over to discuss how to make the pub more eco-friendly. Daniel suggested that Bo ask Nick for advice, but a modest Nick explained that his experience was in environmentally friendly transportation.

When Nick then asked about Daniel's prototype hydrogen car, he followed it up by saying, "It's all about who you know I guess." Unsure whether Nick was trying to take a dig at him, a defensive Daniel asked Nick if he had a problem with him. Nick said he was unaware of one, but before Daniel could question Nick further, Chelsea entered the pub and walked over to the group. Daniel told Nick he had overreacted, and Nick wished Chelsea and Daniel "Good luck!" as he exited the pub.

Dvd #73B 5/29 At Chez Rouge, Maggie gathered Lexie, Bo, Hope, Daniel, and Chelsea to help celebrate Nick getting a grant for his prototype. Daniel told Chelsea he was also there for a boys' night out with some of his hospital colleagues. Chelsea told Nick she was proud of him for getting his grant, and Nick told her a friend helped him with his grant proposal. Lexie admitted to Hope that she and Abe were having problems. Stephanie showed up for Nick's celebration, and she tried to explain away Max's actions for interfering with Nick's proposal. Bo told Nick he thought he was good for Chelsea. Dean Robbins presented Nick with a check for his alternative fuel prototype.

5/30 After Nick's party, Bo and Hope were still at Chez Rouge, discussing what to do with the rest of their evening, when Roman and Kate arrived. The four of them decided to have dinner together. Tony and Anna soon joined them, and they all toasted to Anna and Tony's recent marriage and caught up on each other's lives. Anna regaled them with tales about their honeymoon in Bora Bora while Kate tried to hide her annoyance. Hope later asked if Anna were going to quit her job to work at Tony's company. Anna replied that she was taking some time off until she decided what she wanted to do. The six of them toasted to living happily ever after.

6/2 While Bo and Hope were dancing at Chez Rouge, Hope was worried that Bo might be overdoing things so soon after having surgery. Hope told Bo how happy she was to have him back healthy. Bo and Hope continued to enjoy their night out on the town. Hope heard salsa music playing in the background and asked Bo to dance, but he was reluctant. Hope teased Bo and told him that he was probably too tired to dance. Bo immediately jumped up and asked Hope to join him on the dance floor. Bo surprised Hope with his amazing dance moves. Bo convinced Hope he felt fine and told her she was an amazing wife and partner. Bo and Hope noticed Paul Hollingsworth at the bar talking to his daughter and decided to join them.

Bo asked Paul if he knew anything about what had happened at the docks. Just then, Philip called on Paul's cell phone. Paul told Philip that he could not talk but would get back to him later. Paul lied about the phone call and told Bo and Hope that he knew nothing about the drug bust and was confident the grand jury would reinstate him to his job. Bo and Hope left the restaurant convinced that Paul could not be trusted, but felt bad that Paul was lying to his daughter.

6/3 In the Brady Pub, Bo, Hope, Chelsea, Max, and Caroline discussed the programs and guidelines that Caroline would need to follow in order to be approved as a green establishment. As the family worked on completing the conversion, Chelsea came out from the back room to inform the family that the new energy efficient cooler was a little smaller than the last cooler. Due to the limitation in space, there was no room for one of the kegs of beer. Caroline began to laugh and her eyes teared up when she realized that the keg was full of the last batch of green beer that Shawn Sr. had made before he died. The group agreed that it was a sign from Shawn Sr. and decided to drink a toast.

In the midst of celebrating, Hope received a call from Kayla informing her that Joe had taken a turn for the worse, but that she wanted the family to stay put rather than crowd the hospital. While Hope explained to the family that the baby's lungs were filling with fluid, Max ran off to comfort Stephanie. Looking around, Caroline realized that Chelsea had disappeared. Bo looked toward the doorway and whispered that he had an idea where she went.

Inside the NICU, the monitors beeped to life as a teary-eyed Kayla yelled with joy that Joe's heart rate and blood pressure had increased. A pale-faced Chelsea stood at the window, staring at Joe inside. Behind Chelsea, Bo cautiously approached from behind and hugged his daughter.

6/6 Chelsea came into the pub in and greeted Grandma Caroline and little Ciara.

Down on the docks, Bo and Hope arrived as Rusty was leaving his meeting with John. Hope cautioned John that they were building a strong enough case against him to get a conviction. John reiterated his claim that Philip Kiriakis had planted the cocaine on his ship. Bo warned him that continuing to swear he'd been framed just made him look guilty.

Bo and Hope dropped by the Kiriakis mansion to ask Victor if he knew anything about what was going on with John. Victor feigned sympathy for John's situation, and denied having any involvement with planting the cocaine on John's ships. He then tried to get Bo and Hope to stay for a visit to catch up, but they declined.

Cute scene with Bo and Hope and little Ciara at the pub. Caroline gathered everyone and thanked them for all of their hard work and support. She knows Shawn would be so happy to see all of the love they have given her. Caroline introduces Max as the new manager of the now “Green” Pub. Bo spoke about the environment and how they were fulfilling Shawn's wishes to make the world a better place, Steve and Kayla came in quietly. Caroline was officially presented with her framed Green Certificate, amid much applause and cheering, then stepped behind the bar to cut the ribbon.

Chelsea glumly confided to Hope that she'd once again made a mess of her life. Hope insisted that Chelsea give herself credit for the amazingly selfless way she'd saved Bo's life, and assured her that everyone made mistakes when it came to love-and that she'd find the right guy someday. Chelsea said her goodbyes to Bo and Hope and told them she was off to ask Victor for a favor. She sneaked out the back door so she could avoid running into Nick out front. Bo and Hope left Ciara with Caroline so they could get back to their investigation.

6/9 Bo and Hope arrived at the DiMera mansion and presented John with a warrant to search the mansion. Bo and Hope told John that if he was innocent he should not object to the search. John asked Dr. Rolf to show Bo around the house. Hope stayed in the living room with John. John got right to the point and asked Hope if she enjoyed the time that she had sex with him on the DiMera submarine. Hope was shocked and embarrassed that John would ask her about a personal matter that happened so long ago.

Hope asked John how he found about it and he told her that he had his ways. Hope told John that the conversation was inappropriate and that she did not want to rehash the time when Stefano held her captive. John told Hope that he had to question her about the details of their time together to make sure that Hope did not have a grudge against him that might interfere with the drug trafficking investigation. Hope told John about how Stefano manipulated both of them and affirmed that it was over. John taunted Hope and told her that they probably enjoyed their time together and that the sex was hot. Hope did not dare mention to John that there was some truth to his words about their sex-filled encounter. John told Hope that he would not discuss the subject again and then asked Hope if she liked the new John as much as the old John. Hope told John that she was starting to get used to him.

Bo returned from his search of the premises and started to leave the mansion. John stopped Bo and Hope and reiterated to them that Philip set him up and that Philip had several meetings with Paul Hollingsworth. Bo suggested that John was concerned that Paul was working for Philip while on John's payroll. John dismissed Bo's comment and restated his case that Philip set him up and to question Paul Hollingsworth.

6/12 Hope arrived at the DiMera mansion and found John with Ava. She asked Ava what she was doing there. John told her Ava was his guest and asked Hope to explain why she came by. Hope told him the warehouse that housed all the goods obtained from John's ship had burned down and everything was a total loss. John said Philip's name as Lucas spied on them from the next room. John said the shipment was worth millions. Hope pointed out that John had insurance, but John said the insurance company would probably not cover it because it was suspect and impounded. Ava agreed. Hope told John the cause of the fire was still under investigation, and John took that to mean they had no evidence. Ava suspected they were destroying the evidence and told John to go to the warehouse and check on things himself. John started to leave, but Hope ordered him to stay out of it and let the police handle it.

John said he told her that Philip and Paul were working together, but she did nothing and he suffered a loss. John said Philip had Hope snowed, but he said he would take care of it-one way or another. Ava offered her help, but Hope warned her to stay out of it. Ava said she wouldn't let John get railroaded by anyone, and Hope told her to remember the police were watching her and not to make things more difficult for herself. John told Hope to leave, but before she did, she warned John again to stay home and let the cops handle it. As she left, he said under his breath that she had her chance.

Meanwhile, Bo stopped by the Kiriakis mansion and questioned Philip about the fire at the warehouse. Philip denied having anything to do with the fire. Bo warned Philip that he would run the investigation by the book and if Philip had anything to do with it, Bo planned to arrest Philip.

At the pub, Hope and Bo compared notes on their visits to the DiMera mansion and the Kiriakis mansion, respectively. Bo said he believed Philip was lying about the fire, and Hope told Bo that John was angry and blamed Philip. She told him that Ava was at John's place. They ran into Kayla and asked about her baby. Kayla told them she was worried about Max.

6/17 At the Brady Pub, Bo and Hope wandered in for a bite to eat while they discussed their investigation into the fire. Still upset by the situation, John interrupted to demand answers about the investigation. Bo and Hope tried to assure John that they were not giving Philip preferential treatment, but frustrated, John announced that he would find the evidence himself before he stormed out. Bo informed Hope that he had invited Philip down to the pub to ask him a few questions.

As Bo and Hope waited for Philip, they discussed John's theory about the fire. Bo said he hoped Philip was not stupid enough to try to frame John or set the fire, but he also worried that Philip had enough motivation to do both. Surprising Bo and Hope by arriving suddenly, Philip sat down at the table. Without any pretense, Bo asked Philip point-blank whether he had anything to do with the fire or drugs. Philip again denied any connection to either event. Hope asked Philip what Paul's alibi was and Philip snapped, "I don't know. Why don't you ask him?" "I'll do that," Hope replied as she got up and walked away. Bo then received a call about the break-in at the Salem Inn and cut his interview with Philip short so he could go investigate the crime scene there. Before Bo left, Philip promised that he was innocent.

Back at the Salem Inn, a frustrated Trent paced in front of the window as Bo walked in to investigate. After a cursory investigation, Bo informed Trent that he was not sure they could solve the case without any witnesses. When Bo asked about enemies, Trent told Bo he had no idea who would be after him since he was only the head of the local physics department.

Outside Joe's room at Salem Hospital, Steve voiced his concerns to Stephanie about Max's odd behavior. Stephanie was defensive about Max's recent actions, but Steve advised her to give Max some room. "Are you saying I should break up with Max?" Stephanie asked, stunned. Steve assured Stephanie that he was not suggesting that, but explained that he was worried. Stephanie accused Steve of overreacting, and reminded him that the recent threat to her life was because of Steve and that the one that protected her was Max. Chastened by the reminder, Steve backed off. Stephanie apologized before leaving, but when she was gone, Steve told Kayla that he had no right to tell Stephanie what to do since he had not raised her. Kayla assured Steve that it did not matter because Stephanie was a grown woman and that even Kayla could not keep Stephanie from making up her own mind. Kayla advised Steve that Max was a good kid and that they needed to trust that he would not hurt Stephanie.

Back at the Brady Pub, a worried Nick asked Hope whether she had seen Nick? Hope tried to calm down the increasingly worried Nick. Bo returned from his break-in investigation and filled Hope in on the specifics. When Bo mentioned Trent Robbins, Nick immediately came over to ask what had happened to him. Bo told Nick about the hotel break-in and asked Nick whether he knew of anyone that might want to do something like that to Dean Robbins. Nick seemed stumped, while behind him, Max shifted his gaze away nervously. When the subject then changed to baby Joe's improved health, Stephanie and Hope cooed over a new photo of Joe.

6/18 At the Brady Pub, Marlena informed Hope that she'd moved out of the mansion. Hope, surprised, urged her not to give up on John just yet, because Marlena was the only one who could give him the help he so clearly needed. Marlena replied that she'd already tried to help in every way she knew how, to no avail-so perhaps the John she knew was indeed lost forever. Hope asked if Marlena thought John had anything to do with the cocaine shipment, adding that they had to try to end the war between John and the Kiriakis family. Marlena admitted she didn't know what John was capable of besides making bad decisions.

Ava and Nicole entered the pub, and when Ava noticed Hope and Marlena, she announced she was going to "make nice." She walked over and asked if Hope and Marlena would like to join her and Nicole for a drink. Hope, irked that Ava was bothering them, was stunned to learn that Ava and John were seeing each other. After Ava walked away, Hope urged Marlena to keep trying to reach out to John, and to ask him to back off from the Kiriakises. Marlena agreed to give it one last try. Hope pointed out that John had just arrived, and left so Marlena could talk with him.

6/23 Bo and Hope talked about the investigation at the docks. Chelsea walked in, said hello, and then asked Hope if she could speak to her alone. Hope and Chelsea went to talk at another table. Caroline walked over to Bo's table and Bo asked his mother why Max was not working that shift. Caroline explained to Bo that Max had personal problems and needed some time off. Bo offered to help, but Caroline said that Max needed to work things out on his own. Chelsea asked Hope if she could borrow her gold earrings with the diamonds because she wanted to wear them for a special date. Chelsea told Hope that she did not want Bo to know that she was going out on the date. Hope reminded Chelsea that she did not keep secrets from Bo, and asked her why she did not want Bo to know.

Chelsea told Hope that Daniel was her date and Hope did not seem pleased. Hope advised Chelsea, in a motherly way, that she was very concerned about the age difference between her and Daniel. Chelsea asked Hope to trust her and insisted that she knew in her heart that Daniel would never hurt her. Hope asked Chelsea if she asked Daniel out or if Daniel asked her. Chelsea confirmed that Daniel was the one doing the asking. Hope reluctantly agreed to keep silent for the time being under one condition-that Chelsea must tell Bo if she accepted a second date with Daniel. Chelsea agreed to the terms and Hope told Chelsea that she would let her borrow the earrings.

Bo told Caroline that he never thought Chelsea and Hope would ever be having a mother/daughter talk. Caroline agreed and reminded Bo that he was a lucky man and had a wonderful family. Bo told Caroline that he was planning a party for Hope and needed her help because he was very busy at work. Just then, John walked over and suggested a way for Bo to lighten his workload. John told Bo that Philip set him up and it was time that the police stepped up the investigation. Philip walked into the pub and joined John and Bo. Morgan approached John and blasted him for ruining her father's life. Morgan told John that he was an evil man and deserved whatever punishment came his way. John told Morgan that if she wanted to be mad or to blame someone, Philip was her man.

Bo and Hope asked Morgan to try to calm down, and told her that they wanted to question Paul. Morgan told Bo and Hope that her father left town the night before because he feared his life might be in danger. Morgan and Philip pushed the blame back to John for Paul's dilemma. John denied everything that Morgan and Philip said and then left the pub. Bo told Hope that he was certain Philip knew more about Paul Hollingsworth than he was saying. Afterward, Bo asked Hope what she and Chelsea had discussed. Hope told Bo that it was girl talk and that Chelsea wanted to borrow her earrings for a special date. Bo asked Hope who Chelsea's date was, but Hope said that she did not know because Chelsea did not want to jinx it and would tell them more if she made another date with this man. Chelsea was happy and told Philip, Chloe, Bo, and Hope that she wanted to go see Kate, and said goodbye to everyone.

6/25 Bo and Hope sat in the bar at Chez Rouge, enjoying cocktails while they waited for their table. Hope pestered Bo to tell her what the occasion was, since he never asked her to get dressed up and go out on a weeknight, but he would only say the evening was about the two of them. Daniel arrived, nattily attired in a suit and tie, and said hello to Bo and Hope. Bo joked that he didn't know Daniel even owned a tie, and asked if the doctor was meeting a hot babe for a date. Before Daniel could answer, the maître d' came to show the Bradys to their table. After they'd gone, Daniel tried to call Chelsea, but got no answer.

As Bo and Hope sat down at their table, Hope remarked that she was surprised to see Nicole and Trent together. A bit later, Bo told his wife that she was more beautiful than the day they were married. She asked again what they were celebrating. He replied that, especially after he'd nearly died and she'd been kidnapped, he'd realized how precious life was and he never wanted to take anything for granted.

6/30 Roman called Bo into work while he and Hope were out together for dinner at Chez Rouge. Roman teased Bo for coming to work in a suit and tie, but Bo laughed and said that he left directly from the restaurant. Bo told Roman that he was happy to come to work because he had a tiff with Hope because he found out that Chelsea had a date with Daniel Jonas. Bo asked Roman his opinion about whether or not Chelsea should be dating someone so much older than her, but Roman told Bo that Chelsea was a grown woman and to stay out of it.

Bo asked Roman why he called him into work and Roman said that Paul Hollingsworth was missing and that his daughter, Morgan, was worried about him and asked the police to investigate. Roman filled Bo in on the details and told him that Chloe gave a statement to the police that placed Paul on the dock the night of the fire and that Chloe remembered that Paul smelled of gasoline. Bo asked Roman if he thought that John ordered Paul to set the fire, but Roman indicated that there was no evidence to implicate John.

Roman obtained a search warrant for Paul's apartment, but Bo and Roman did not find any evidence during their search. Back at the police station, and officer located Paul's suitcase abandoned at the airport and returned it to Roman's office. A few minutes later, Morgan arrived at the police station and asked to speak with Roman and Bo. As she entered Roman's office, she noticed her father's suitcase in the corner of the room and questioned Roman and Bo why his suitcase was there. Morgan demanded to know what was going on and told Roman and Bo that John Black was responsible for her father's disappearance. Roman and Bo urged Morgan to return home and get some rest. Bo felt bad for Morgan, and Roman told Bo that he believed that Paul was not the father Morgan adored. Roman and Bo searched Paul's luggage and then found a letter addressed to Morgan.

7/1 At the Brady Pub, Chelsea helped Caroline prepare food for the Fourth of July picnic at Bo and Hope's house. When Caroline caught herself saying how much "we" enjoy the holiday, she corrected herself so as not to include Shawn, Sr. Caroline reminisced about how much Shawn Sr. enjoyed the holiday and decided to go over to the cemetery and plant a flag at his grave.

At Bo and Hope's house, Hope was busily working in the kitchen to prepare for the picnic. Bo returned home and briefly updated Hope on the Hollingsworth disappearance before teasing Hope about her cooking. While Bo and Hope laughed and kissed, Doug and Julie burst into the kitchen door dressed as Uncle Sam and Betsy Ross. With Bo and Hope clearly surprised to see them, Doug and Julie explained that they were taking a brief break from their vacation tour to return home for the Fourth of July celebration. Doug asked Bo about the solar panels on the roof, and Bo eagerly pointed out all of the environmentally friendly improvements that he was working on for the house. After chatting about the work on the house, Doug and Bo headed out to the backyard to fire up the grill and start cooking burgers while Julie and Hope stayed inside to talk. Hope broached the subject of Bo's reluctance to let Chelsea date Daniel, and Julie reminded Hope about how difficult Doug had been when Hope first dated Bo.

Hope found it humorous that Bo was acting as Doug once had but lamented, "Because of the past you would think that Bo would be more understanding." Julie reminded Hope that Bo was a father rather than a suitor, and that it was not strange that Bo might feel just as strongly about Daniel as Doug had once felt about Bo. Julie advised Hope to let it happen because true love could not be stopped. Hope laughed and pondered aloud whether Doug and Bo were having the same discussion outside. Curious, Hope and Julie rushed over to the window to spy on the men.

In the backyard, Bo asked Doug for advice on how to handle Chelsea's relationship with the much older Daniel. Doug reminded Bo how he had tried to keep Hope away from Bo and that it had only made Hope more determined to fight for her relationship with Bo. When Doug asked why Bo was opposed to the match, Bo admitted that it was because Daniel had no roots and seemed to be a "flight risk."

Doug chuckled and remarked, "Exactly what people were saying about Julie and me back then. Look how that turned out." "You're going on what, a couple hundred years?" Bo joked. When Doug asked Bo to seriously consider whether Daniel was wrong for Chelsea, Bo admitted that Daniel could probably make her happy.

However, Bo was still nervous about the relationship because Chelsea was so young and Daniel was so experienced. Doug advised that Bo could not control Chelsea's heart and that she would follow it despite what Bo said. Doug warned that if Bo tried to keep Chelsea from Daniel, he might end up with a "hurt and angry daughter not big on forgiving and forgetting." After Hope went to check on Bo, Doug walked over to Julie in the backyard and asked her whether they were discussing the same topic. "Remind you of anybody?" Julie teased Doug.
"I was never that pigheaded," countered Doug.
"No, you were much worse," Julie said laughing.

Bo told Hope that he had talked to Doug, who suggested he should take a step back and let Chelsea go. Bo was reluctant but when Hope urged him to remember how she had acted when Doug attempted to keep them apart, Bo seemed to see the wisdom of Doug's advice. Roman then arrived and interrupted the conversation with a challenge to Bo. Roman bet Bo that whoever had more of their burgers eaten at the end of the picnic would win and that the loser had to buy the winner a six-pack of beer. As Roman hurried off to work on his burgers, Hope stopped Bo to ask him about the secret he had promised to tell her at Chez Rouge. Playing coy, Bo playfully refused to talk about it.

7/2 Bo and Hope's party was underway. It was a festive Fourth of July celebration with all the trimmings. Victor chastised Daniel for not informing him he was dating his granddaughter. Victor was not happy. He was fond of Daniel, but he was not sure he was the right man for Chelsea. Bo told Chelsea he thought Daniel was too worldly for her. Besides she was way too young to be dating him. Chelsea didn't agree. The blackout hit and Bo and Hope's house was not affected, nor was Chez Rouge because of their "green" conversions.

7/7 Kate arrived at Bo and Hope's Fourth of July cookout and fainted after she noticed Daniel and Chelsea kissing. Daniel and Lexie tended to Kate and checked to make sure that she did not have a serious medical problem. Meanwhile Victor, Bo, and others were upset that Daniel and Chelsea were so demonstrative about their feelings for each other in the middle of a family cookout. Kate seemed to be feeling better and said that she was a little light-headed. Daniel asked Kate to stand up and then Kate asked Chelsea to go with her into the house because she wanted to talk to her.

7/9 Morgan knocked on Roman's door at the police station, where Roman was discussing Paul Hollingsworth's disappearance with Abe and Bo. Roman handed Morgan a letter addressed to her from her father, which he told her they'd found when they searched Paul's luggage. Philip eavesdropped outside the door while they speculated about why Paul might not have simply mailed the letter, and why he had checked his bags at the airport but had not made it onto the flight. Finally Philip made his presence known. Bo asked him to leave, but Philip didn't think Morgan should be alone. Morgan assured Philip that she would be all right.

After Philip left, Morgan read her father's letter. In it, he told Morgan he loved her and was proud of her, but admitted he'd done things he wasn't proud of. Before signing off, he added, "Because you're the only person I trust, I'm going to give you something very important. You'll need it if anything happens to me." Once Morgan had finished reading the letter, she recalled the night she'd said goodbye to her father on the pier. She told Bo and Roman she felt like something bad must have happened to him. Roman asked Morgan what Paul had given her, and he and Bo offered helpful suggestions as to the types of things he could have meant, but she couldn't remember her father giving her anything. Bo declared that, whatever the item was, it was crucial to find it because it might be the key to the whole case.

7/10 At the police station, Bo and Hope questioned Lucas behind closed doors on why he left the DiMera mansion and broke the terms of his probation, but he refused to tell them why he went to the Salem Inn. Lucas said since it was his third offense, Bo and Hope couldn't keep him from going back to jail. Bo thought the judge might be more lenient this time around, but Lucas wasn't convinced. Bo asked Lucas when he was going to start thinking about what was best for the twins. Hope continued to question Lucas about why he was at the Salem Inn, but he refused to answer. Hope asked if he was protecting someone. Sami asked Bo if she could speak to Lucas, but he told her he couldn't allow it. Sami asked Bo if Lucas said why he violated his probation, but Bo said he couldn't tell her that. He agreed, however, to let her speak to Lucas.

Philip was also waiting around to talk to Lucas. Philip asked Bo if there were any developments in Paul Hollingsworth's case, but Bo couldn't talk to Philip about it. Bo thought it interesting that Philip and Morgan were friends, given that Morgan was Paul's daughter. Bo told Philip that John believed Philip paid Paul to plant drugs on his ship. Philip said he had nothing to do with the drugs, and Bo said if he weren't telling the truth, he would be arrested. Bo and Hope compared notes on Lucas' questioning and Philip's account of his involvement with Paul. Sami asked for some time alone with Lucas, but Philip demanded to know why Lucas was at the Salem Inn. Lucas refused to answer. When Lucas and Philip's argument escalated, Bo decided to take Lucas off to processing.

7/11 Caroline knelt on the floor next to Victor and frantically tried to rouse him after he passed out. Max ordered Stephanie to call 911 as he and his mother worked to revive Victor. The paramedics arrived at the pub and soon had Victor strapped to a gurney and then wheeled him out. Caroline followed behind them.

At the police station, Hope questioned Philip as to why he and Lucas had been arguing. Bo soon joined them and started in on Philip too, but Philip refused to divulge any details, only allowing that it was between him and Lucas and not a police matter. Before a clearly steamed Bo could get any more information from him, Philip's cell phone rang. It was Morgan, calling from the pub to tell him what had happened to Victor. When Philip hung up, he quickly filled Bo in, and the two of them left together to meet the ambulance at the hospital. Once they were alone, Hope tried to get Lucas to open up to her, since they were family. Although he acknowledged he regretted what he'd done, he still wouldn't tell her why he'd done it.

The paramedics brought Victor in and apprised Daniel of his vital signs. Kate and Caroline arrived shortly thereafter. Daniel quickly determined that Victor couldn't speak and was weak on his left side. He was ordering a battery of tests just as Philip and Bo came in. Caroline and Bo tried to make sure that Chelsea had realistic expectations about Victor's recovery, and reminded her that it wasn't the first stroke he'd had. Chelsea wisely observed how much Victor loved Bo, in part because he'd never gotten over Caroline.

Daniel emerged from Victor's room and informed Caroline and Kate that Victor had indeed had a stroke. He said it was too early to tell the full extent of the damage, but he'd administered a medication to dissolve the clot that had caused the stroke. Daniel then amazed the ladies with the news that the drug had worked very quickly and not only was Victor talking again, he'd asked to speak to both of them. In a weak voice, Victor haltingly told Caroline and Kate, "I'm leaving behind my sons. Your sons. I'm so proud of them both." The two women looked at each other helplessly.

As they returned, Bo and Chelsea approach Daniel for an update. He tells them the meds have already started working. Caroline and Kate came out of Victor's room and said he'd asked to see Bo and Philip next. Caroline then had to return to the pub, but Chelsea promised to call if there were any news. Chelsea slipped into Victor's room behind Bo and Philip.

7/14 At the hospital, Bo and Philip sat by Victor's bedside waiting for him to regain consciousness. Philip was concerned that Victor might not pull through, but Bo encouraged Philip, and reminded him that Victor was a strong man and would fight to survive. Bo told Philip that Victor had experienced many close calls in the past when Philip was very young and that Victor had always beat the odds. Philip mentioned to Bo that perhaps Victor knew he was ill and that was why he gave Philip more responsibility in the company. Philip told Bo that he let Victor down and made many mistakes at Titan. Philip felt remorse that Victor trusted him with the business and he failed his father.

Bo tried to convince Philip that Victor was proud of him or else he would never have allowed Philip to run the business, but Philip felt guilty nonetheless. Victor woke up and told Philip that he was proud of him. Daniel walked in and was happy to see that Victor was awake. He asked Philip and Bo to leave the room so that he could examine Victor and recommend treatment.

In Victor's hospital room, Bo encouraged Victor to fight and hang in there because everyone was pulling for him, including Caroline. Victor told Bo that he needed his help. Victor asked Bo to watch out for Philip and keep an eye on him because Victor was worried about Philip. Before he left, Bo reluctantly agreed and promised Victor that he would protect Philip. Bo called Hope to tell her that Victor had a stroke and while he was talking to her, Bo received a phone call that referred to a lead in the Hollingsworth case.

7/15 At the Salem Police Station, Bo and Hope were discussing Paul's disappearance and the certified mail receipt they had found in Paul's trash. Bo got on the computer to track the package and with a little help from Hope, he was finally able to determine that the package was at the nearby post office. Hope was worried about Morgan's emotional state, and she attempted to call Morgan in order to get her to meet them at the post office. As they were only able to get Morgan's voicemail, Bo called Judge Kravitz in order to secure a search warrant for the package. Before Bo and Hope could head over to see the judge, Hope got a call from the babysitter and set off to pick up Ciara while Bo went after the package. Bo arrived with a warrant to get the package. The postal clerk told Bo what had happened and he immediately called Hope with the news. Hope told Bo that she would drop Ciara off at the Brady Pub, and Bo said he would meet her there.

At the Brady Pub, Ciara ran in to hug Caroline, as a smiling Hope followed close behind. Caroline agreed to watch Ciara, but when Hope explained that she was heading out with Bo to find Morgan, Caroline happily pointed out that Morgan was sitting in the corner of the pub with Philip. Before Hope could call Bo, he arrived and the two headed over to Morgan's table. "I can't let you open that," Bo advised Morgan. Bo went on to explain that the package was part of the investigation and when Philip tried to tell Morgan that it was her private property, Bo pulled out the warrant for the package. As Philip continued to try to keep Morgan from giving Bo the package, Hope ordered Philip to leave. Philip reluctantly left the pub, and Bo, Hope, and Morgan headed down to the police station to open the package.

Later at the police station, Morgan opened the package to reveal a wad of money and a letter to her. As Morgan began to read the letter, she became overcome with emotion and asked to leave. Bo told her she could go and when she was ready, she could stop by and finish reading the letter. After Morgan headed out, Bo pulled out the rest of the contents of the package including more money and a tape recorder. Curious, Bo pressed play on the recorder and heard Philip's voice saying, "Damn it, Paul. Do what I tell you or I will kill you." Horrified, Bo shook his head in disbelief.

7/16 Hope was reading The Wizard of Oz to Ciara when Bo came downstairs and wished them good morning. Bo complained that he hadn't slept well, and Hope pointed out that he did have a lot on his mind. Abe brought Theo over to play with Ciara. Theo seemed happy to be there, but simply replied, "One, two, three, four," when Ciara greeted him. Hope took the kids upstairs while Abe and Bo discussed the Paul Hollingsworth case. Abe remarked that it was strange that Paul had only left his daughter a bunch of cash and a "generic goodbye letter," and his instincts told him there seemed to be a piece of the puzzle missing. Bo claimed that it didn't seem odd to him, since some men thought money was the answer to any problem. He added said he just wanted to find out what happened to Paul for Morgan's sake. Hope returned downstairs, and Bo left to visit Victor.

Bo arrived at the hospital, so Philip took Kate to the cafeteria so that Bo could spend some time alone with Victor. Lexie advised Bo that something had caused Victor's EKG to spike earlier, but that he seemed to have stabilized. She urged him not to upset Victor, and then left. Victor weakly declared that he was already upset. Bo tried to get him to relax, but Victor wanted to know what was going on with Hollingsworth. He said he knew about the tape with Philip threatening Paul on it, and reminded Bo that Bo had promised to protect his brother. Bo argued that it was wrong to withhold evidence. Victor implored Bo to look into it further before damning Philip if the evidence didn't directly implicate him. As Bo began to refuse, Victor's heart monitor began beeping wildly again. Lexie and a nurse hurried in with a crash cart and ordered Bo to leave.

When Lexie was finished, she went into the hall asked Bo what had upset Victor. Bo said he didn't know. When Kate and Philip returned Lexie emphasized that they must all stick to small talk with Victor so as not to upset him further. After Lexie left, Kate asked Bo what had happened. Bo pointedly told her to ask Philip and returned to Victor's room. Bo apologized to Victor for upsetting him, but said he couldn't go against his beliefs. Victor asked him to prove Philip's innocence, and to leave the evidence with him and walk away. When the heart monitor went off again, Bo reluctantly agreed and handed his father the tape recorder.

Abe confided to Hope that he was afraid he wasn't being as objective as he should about work because of what he and Lexie were going through with Theo. Hope sympathized and offered her support. Abe was worried that he and Lexie weren't seeing eye-to-eye when it came to their son's care and treatment. An upset Ciara suddenly ran in and declared, "Theo is mean!" A bit later, the adults returned to the living room, noting that the kids were playing separately yet peacefully, and each apologized for their own child's behavior.

They resumed their discussion of Theo's autism and how the two of them and Lexie had all been researching the disorder. Abe admitted that he hadn't been willing to see that Theo had a problem, but Lexie had known from the start that something was off. Hope urged him to stop being so hard on himself, and asked how their marriage counseling was going. He replied that they made progress in the sessions but there was a lot of silence at home. Hope encouraged him to keep the lines of communication open, and to tell his wife how proud he was of her and how she was dealing with the situation. Lexie arrived to pick up Theo.

7/17 At the hospital, Victor asked Bo to leave the evidence against Philip in the Paul Hollingsworth missing person case with Victor at the hospital and walk away from the case. Victor's heart rate began to race, so Bo gave the tape recorder to him and left the room. Outside, he found Kate and Philip waiting. Bo asked to talk to Philip alone. Kate asked what was going on and whether it was about Victor, but Bo wouldn't answer her questions. Bo took Philip back to his house to confront Philip about the tape recorded conversation where Philip threatened to kill Paul if he didn't do what Philip wanted him to. Bo said Victor had the tape and wouldn't let it out of his sight. Bo asked Philip off the record if he killed Paul Hollingsworth. Philip denied killing Paul. Bo asked Philip if he knew where Paul was, and Philip said he didn't. Philip wondered why Bo didn't turn in the tape, and Bo told him Victor asked him not to.

Bo didn't give Victor the tape for Philip, Bo said he did it for their father. Victor asked him to keep the evidence quiet and when Bo told him he couldn't, Victor took a turn for the worse. Bo was angry at himself for letting his emotions get in the way of his judgment. Bo said he withheld evidence to protect Philip, and Philip said he was not a killer. Bo called Abe at the station to tell him something, but then changed his mind and told Abe he wouldn't be in to work.

7/22 In Bo and Hope's kitchen, Caroline cleaned up the dinner plates while Bo played with Ciara. Noticing that Bo seemed distant, Caroline sent Ciara into the living room and asked Bo what was bothering him. Bo explained that he was preoccupied with Victor's health. Caroline seemed confused since Victor's health was improving, but Bo told her that he was worried about the prospect of burying his biological father so soon after burying Shawn, Sr. Caroline cautioned Bo not to bottle up his feelings.

When Daniel and Chelsea arrived, Caroline scurried off to fix up a couple of dinner plates for them. Bo asked Daniel about Victor, and Daniel answered that Victor was stable. Bo became very quiet and then excused himself to go make a call. Daniel quickly followed and joined Bo in the living room. As Bo hung up on his phone call, Daniel asked Bo to let go of whatever it was that was affecting his and Victor's health adversely. Defensive, Bo responded that he was fine, but Daniel urged him to take it easy.

While Daniel took a phone call, Chelsea joined her father in the living room. Bo told Chelsea that Daniel was being overly concerned but she should not worry about him. Daniel rejoined them and explained that the phone call he received was from the hospital. Apparently the hospital analysis showed that every visit from Philip or Bo corresponded to Victor's spikes in blood pressure. As his sons seemed to be adversely affecting his health, Daniel informed Bo and Chelsea that Victor would no longer be allowed visitors. After Daniel and Chelsea ate dinner in the living room, Chelsea regaled Bo, Caroline, and Daniel with stories from her new job.

After Daniel left, Bo went upstairs to check on Ciara, leaving Caroline and Chelsea alone in the living room. Chelsea took the opportunity to ask Caroline what was wrong with Bo, but Caroline theorized that it was just the situation with Victor that was causing Bo's quietness. Caroline then turned the conversation to Daniel and asked Chelsea whether he was staying in town for her. Giggling, Chelsea thought that was part of the reason, but that she thought that he felt an obligation to stay for Victor as well. Chelsea wondered aloud whether there would ever be less awkwardness between her, Daniel, and Bo, but Caroline smiled and told her that it would just take time.

In Bo's living room, his phone rang. Bo picked up and learned from Abe that there was a break in the Hollingsworth case. "They found something," Bo said with a concerned expression on his face.

7/23 As Hope rushed in their front door, Bo informed her that the police had found Paul's jacket in the Salem River. She observed his upset mood and asked somewhat suspiciously if he knew something more about Paul's disappearance. Bo claimed that he was frustrated because the case involved people they cared about, and because it had just become a possible homicide. When he mentioned that he'd been thinking about how things might have played out, Hope asked to hear his theories. Bo declared he didn't want to discuss it with her and that he'd prefer to work on the case alone. Hope was stunned-and furious. She reminded him that they were partners, but no matter how she argued, Bo refused to tell her anything further. He insisted that he was trying to protect her, and asked her to trust him. He then kissed her goodbye and said he had to run an errand and, although she pleaded, he wouldn't tell her where he was going.

Bo came into the PD and asked for an update. Roman informed Bo that they were dragging the river and declared that he thought they would find Paul's body there. When Roman and Abe left to check on the dive team's progress, Bo pulled Philip into the commissioner's office and lit into him for lying about killing Hollingsworth. Philip swore that he hadn't killed Paul, only threatened him, but a furious Bo wasn't convinced. Philip acknowledged the sacrifice Bo had made in hiding the evidence and expressed his deep gratitude, but Bo scoffed. Philip pointed out that their father would do anything to protect his family.

Bo argued that the things Victor did in the name of family were often morally objectionable, because Victor had always behaved as if he thought the laws didn't apply to him. He added that Philip was just like their father. Bo then vowed that if it turned out that Philip had killed Paul, he would confess to obstructing justice and then turn himself and Philip in. Bo flung the door open to throw his brother out and found Morgan standing there.

7/24 At the police station, Morgan asked Bo and Philip what was going on between them, and Bo said it was private. Bo slammed some papers down on his desk, which Marlena noticed when she left Roman's office, and she asked him if he was all right. Bo said he was fine. He was just stressed out over the case he was working on. Marlena said if he wanted to talk to her about it, she was available, since she was the police psychiatrist, and everything he said would be in strict confidence. Bo said if he needed to talk, it would have to be with someone else. Bo told Philip it was stupid of Philip to hang out with Morgan since the police were considering Philip a prime suspect in Paul's disappearance.

Later, a concerned Marlena asked Kayla if Bo had stopped by to see the baby, and Kayla said Bo was too busy with work. Marlena mentioned that Bo seemed stressed, and Kayla said she would find out why. Bo told Philip it would look like Philip was spending time with Morgan because he felt guilty about what he did to Morgan's father. Philip said he didn't care how it looked, because he cared about Morgan. Philip added that he had nothing to do with Paul's disappearance. Bo asked his colleague for everything they had on the Hollingsworth case. Bo pored through the evidence in the case, looking for something he hadn't seen before that could tell him who killed Paul. Steve called Bo to meet for drinks, and while they were at the Brady Pub, Steve tried to convince Bo to confide in him. Bo decided to tell Steve that he covered up evidence in an ongoing investigation to protect Philip.

7/25 Steve visited Bo, who was home alone with Ciara, to tell him he thought Bo had done the right thing by protecting Philip. Bo wasn't so sure, especially since it had begun to look like Philip might have killed Paul, but Steve didn't think Philip was a murderer. Steve encouraged Bo to talk to Hope, emphasizing that as both Bo's wife and a good cop, she'd figure it out on her own soon enough. He added that secrets between spouses always caused problems.

Bo admitted that Hope was already upset because she knew he was keeping something from her, but he couldn't let her get involved. Steve offered to see what he could dig up about Hollingsworth, to try to prove Philip's innocence and ease Bo's mind. Bo grimly replied that he'd still never feel good about any of it, especially about lying to Hope. He then announced that he was calling off the surprise he'd planned for her.

Caroline confides her concern about Bo’s odd behaviour to Kayla. Caroline told Kayla that Daniel had barred Victor from having any more visitors, because Victor's heart rate had increased dramatically during Bo and Philip's visits. Caroline added that she sensed more tension than normal between Victor and Bo, and she suspected it had something to do with the Paul Hollingsworth case. Kayla was surprised when her mom told her that Bo wasn't sharing his theories about the case with Hope. Caroline warns her that her and Hope both believe that Bo is in trouble. **The End**
