Bo & Hope #77 December 21, 2009 - April 14, 2010: 9 hour edit on three dvds

DVD #77A 12/21 At the hospital, Bo tried to figure out how a dead body ended up in the bed of one of Carly's patients. Daniel said he had discovered who put the body there and why. He said that a new orderly took the blame for the incident and then quit. He said the hospital tried to follow up with the orderly with more questions, but he was nowhere to be found. Bo asked Daniel how he and Carly knew each other.

Daniel said that they had worked together for a couple years, and at the time, Daniel did not know that Carly had been married to Victor. Daniel was glad that Bo didn't hate Carly like Victor did. Bo said he considered Carly a "good friend." Bo told Carly that they needed to pay Vivian a visit, but Carly didn't see the point. Carly wanted to leave her alone, because it might cause the situation to escalate. Bo ordered Carly to go home with him so that they could discuss the matter in private.

At Bo's house, Carly and Bo argued about whether to back off of Vivian. Bo forgot what he was saying, and they had a good laugh about it. Bo said that Carly was still impossible. Carly started to leave, and then she noticed that a picture of Bo, Hope, and Ciara was missing. Carly asked what happened to it, and Bo said that Hope took it. Bo confided in Carly that he thought that his marriage was over. Bo regretted telling Carly about the state of his marriage. He said that Hope would be upset that he confided in Carly, and Bo would feel the same way if the roles were reversed.

Carly said she understood. Bo couldn't understand how he and Hope got to where they were. He said he and Hope used to be able to talk about things and resolve their issues, but there was too much resentment and anger. Carly started crying. Bo asked what was wrong, and she said she regretted how his admission made her feel. He asked how it made her feel. Carly said that she had reacted badly to Justin's accusations because she realized that Justin was right. She said she had been "stuffing" her feelings for too long and she couldn't deny any longer that she was falling in love with Bo again. Carly tried to leave, but Bo stopped her and said she didn't need to leave.

12/22 At the Java Café, Hope told Lexie that she was jealous of Carly. "It's like she staked a claim on him and her claim trumps everything," Hope muttered. When Lexie noted that Bo was a protective man, Hope countered that Carly looked like she "could take care of herself." Sighing, Lexie told Hope about the corpse that Vivian had left for Carly. Hope seemed amused by Vivian's message, but then she became upset when she realized that Carly called Bo after the incident.

At Bo's house, Carly admitted that she was falling back in love with Bo. Embarrassed, Carly started to leave, but Bo stopped her. Bo explained that he was surprised by Carly's admission, and then he changed the subject to the corpse that Vivian had left at the hospital. Noting Bo's discomfort, Carly asked Bo to forget that she had said anything about her feelings for him. Bo blamed himself for their awkward situation, and Carly told Bo that he was not responsible for her feelings. "I'm not talking about how you feel," Bo said gruffly. After explaining that he was in a strange place in his life, Bo noted that he felt good to be able to help someone that he had so many good memories of in his life. As Bo stepped closer to Carly, Hope stormed through the front door of the house.

As Carly and Bo stood in an awkward silence, Hope asked Carly how she was doing after the incident with the corpse. Carly said she was fine then turned to Bo and said, "I'll think about what you said." After Carly was gone, Hope noted that Carly "sure didn't need Vivian in her life." Changing the subject, Bo asked Hope why she was stopping by the house. Hope told Bo that Alice was not up to having Christmas at her house and that she had requested they have Christmas at Bo and Hope's house. Bo reminded Hope that Hope and Ciara were not living at the house, but Hope countered that she thought the family was hoping it would get Bo and Hope back together.

"Is that what you want?" Bo asked tentatively. "I want us to get back together if we can solve the problems that we seem to have," Hope answered. Hope and Bo reminisced about past Christmases and how much they would like to see Ciara unwrap her presents. Bo suggested that they have Christmas at their house in the hopes that things would get better. "I think that we should do this. If only for Ciara," Bo said. Hope agreed that there was no commitment, and they agreed to spend Christmas Eve together as a family. While working at the hospital, Carly received a call from Bo. Noting the caller ID, Carly sent the call to voicemail. "Call me. We're not finished," Bo said.

12/24 At Bo's house, Doug and Julie arrived bearing gifts. Julie thought that Alice's idea to invite the family to hang ornaments on Bo and Hope's tree would mean that Bo, Hope, and Ciara would be back together for Christmas. Bo warned Julie that things wouldn't be perfect between him and Hope. Julie made it clear that she didn't plan on hanging even one ornament until the whole family helped Bo and Hope work things out. Doug took Julie aside and urged her not to push Bo and Hope. She said she "wouldn't dream of it."

Hope saw Sami outside the Brady Pub, and Hope offered Sami some advice regarding how to deal with Sydney's kidnapping. She encouraged Sami to act on her instincts immediately and do whatever Sami thought might locate Sydney. Hope said that she'd almost lost Ciara, and she didn't know if Ciara would ever recover. Hope said that if she had followed her gut instead of police procedure, Ciara might have been home the first day, but instead, Ciara's life might not ever be the same.

Julie lectured Bo about sticking together through difficult times in a marriage. Bo said that he understood and he wasn't an idiot. "You could have fooled me," Julie said. Bo said that just because he and Hope were hosting the Christmas party didn't mean that their problems would disappear. Hope arrived and overheard Bo and agreed with him. She said that spending Christmas together wouldn't solve all their problems. Bo asked that Julie give them space to work things out. "Of course," Maggie said when she walked in the room. Julie didn't see why the people who loved Bo and Hope couldn't help them.

Doug lectured Julie about how Bo and Hope's marriage was their business. Julie apologized for interfering. Bo accepted her apology and said they knew she did it because she cared. Will, Lucas, and Allie walked in, and they all began hanging the ornaments on the tree. First were Alice and Tom, then Addie, followed by Julie and Doug. After that, Maggie hung Mickey's ornament next to hers. Will hung his next to Lucas' ornament, and Lucas helped Allie hang hers below that.

Nathan hung his ornament below Melissa's. Ciara hung her ornament below Shawn Douglas and Belle, and next to Claire and Chelsea's. Hope hung her ornament and handed Bo's to him. Their hands touched. Hope picked up Zack's ornament, and she remembered how their marriage had fallen apart after his death. She hung the ornament, and when she turned around, Bo was gone. Hope found Bo outside, and he said that he was having a difficult time watching her family hurt for them. Hope wished that there were a way for them to work things out, and he wished for the same. She said that if it were a movie, Bo would take her into his arms and whisper that everything would be okay. Bo said that things were not that simple. "Too much" had happened, he said. Bo decided to leave to check on his mother and Sami, but he said he would return.

Abe began the candlelight vigil on the dock by calling for everyone to help return Sydney to her parents. A crowd has gathered and Carly stands near Sami and Rafe. E.J. and Sami issued a televised plea for assistance in locating Sydney. Sami explained to the crowd how she found out that Sydney, not Grace, was her daughter. Sami begged for the kidnapper not to let Sami lose her daughter again. Bo, Caroline, Nathan, Stephanie, Arianna, and Will joined Sami, E.J., Rafe, and the rest of the town in a prayer for Sydney's safe return. Hope stares at Bo as he stands with his mom, her heart in her eyes as she longs for her husband. As Hope stares at him, she notices him catching Carly’s eye and them looking at each other. She looks away disturbed.

12/28 Hope walked into the mansion, and Justin asked how her Christmas was. She said that Ciara had a great time. Victor asked how things were between her and Bo. Justin made up an excuse for Victor to leave. When they were alone, Hope admitted that her Christmas celebration was a "disaster." She vented about feeling responsible for ruining everyone else's good mood. Hope told Justin that Bo had left the celebration early to meet up with Carly. Hope pretended not to care.

"As far as I'm concerned, Carly Manning, she can go where she wants, she can do what she wants, oh, and that fascinating little secret of hers that she and Bo guard with their life, she can take it to her grave. Better yet, maybe Vivian can put her in it," Hope proclaimed. Hope knew that she didn't sound like her usual self. It wasn't like her to be cynical or bitter. Justin didn't see her as cynical, but Hope said that her old self would have tried desperately to fix things and be lovable and adorable and would never say such terrible things about Carly. Hope admitted that she felt like giving up. She told Justin that she wanted to file separation papers.

Hope asked Justin to be her lawyer and draw up the separation papers, but Justin refused. He said he felt it was a conflict of interest because Bo was his cousin. Justin also didn't see why Hope wanted to split up. Hope wondered what Justin was trying to cover up. She asked if he was angry or disappointed. Justin felt like he wasn't objective as he was too involved, because of the way he felt about Hope. Hope was unaware that Justin had feelings for her. He said he had just realized it recently. Hope assumed that it was because of Justin's marriage ending and that he was alone for the holidays, but he said it was more than that. Hope apologized and said that she couldn't tell him what he wanted to hear. Justin realized that it probably meant that Hope really did still love Bo and wanted to work things out. Hope planned to go to Bo's house to pick up some things for Ciara. She told Justin that she wished she believed in her marriage half as much as Justin did. She picked up a photo of her and Bo and remembered the great moments of their life together. She decided to herself that she did believe in her marriage after all, and she rushed out the door.

At the hospital, Bo confronted Carly about her avoiding him. She said she wasn't avoiding him that she was busy. She admitted that she didn't want to be in the same room as him. She felt that it was unfair that he kept leaving her messages and tracked her down at the hospital. She told Bo to stay away from her. Bo assumed that Carly was upset because he didn't react the way she had wanted her to after she confessed to still having feelings for him. Carly wanted to forget it ever happened, but Bo said it was too late for that. Carly assumed that Bo didn't respond to her because he didn't feel the same way. Bo received a call and hurried home with Carly, because he learned that someone had been looking at Carly's records at the Swiss hospital where Carly's daughter was born. Carly panicked.

Carly knew that Vivian would eventually figure out that Carly's daughter was in Salem. Bo promised to stop Vivian before she was able to get to Carly's daughter. Carly threatened to kill Vivian if she needed to in order to protect her child. Carly screamed at Bo, asking what she needed to do to protect her child. Carly apologized for her reaction, and Bo told her not to be sorry. Carly said that she felt the same panicky feelings that she felt right before she killed Lawrence. Bo told her that it wasn't the same, because she had to protect her daughter all by herself with no one to help her. Things were different, he said, because Carly had Bo. He pulled her into a kiss. Hope arrived on their doorstep ready to open the door with her key, but she saw the two of them kissing through the window.

Vivian gloats as she shows Victor a copy of Carly’s medical records when she was admitted to a maternity ward in Europe. Vivian reminds Victor about the unfinished letter that Lawrence had written to Carly and surmises that it was probably about Carly having a love child with another man, the ultimate betrayal. Vivian said that her source saw a record listing the father of the child as unknown, so that meant Lawrence couldn't have been the father. Victor asked who the father was. Vivian wondered the same thing. Victor also wondered where Carly's child was now. Vivian was determined to find out the answer to both those questions.

12/29 In Bo's living room, he hugged Carly tightly as the tears streamed down her face. Pulling away, Carly apologized for being emotional. When Carly worried that things were getting out of control like they did with Lawrence, Bo took her head in his hands. "It's not the same. You had to protect your daughter on your own, you had no one there to help you. Now it's different. You have me," Bo said soothingly. As Carly looked up at Bo uncertainly, he pulled her to him and kissed Carly passionately.

Outside, Hope ran up to her house to talk to Bo about their marriage. When Hope got to the front door, she looked through the window and saw Bo and Carly kissing in front of the Christmas tree. At first Hope started to cry, but then she held back her tears and angrily marched to the front door and knocked. Bo opened the door, and Hope explained that she was there to pick up Christmas gifts. "Happy holidays," Hope said to Carly with a snarl. "Keeping busy I see," said Hope to Bo. Flustered, Carly excused herself, citing work, and ran out the front door. With an angry glint in her eye, Hope said, "I hope she'll come back soon. Then you can finish what you started." When Bo asked what Hope was referring to, she noted that Bo should realize why she would be asking such a question. Hope explained that she saw them kissing.

"I didn't expect you to move on so quickly," Hope said quietly. "If you and I had been together that never would have happened, you know that," Bo said. Bo explained that the kiss she witnessed was the first time.

"I'm sure it was very difficult for you to restrain yourself since Carly got back into town. What a selfless man you are," Hope said through gritted teeth. "Our marriage is over, Brady. You can do what you want. I can't care anymore," Hope said. As Hope got to the front door, she spun around and faced Bo.

"There is one more thing you need to know about Carly," Hope barked. Hope told Bo that she was worried about Carly's secret because she was worried it could hurt Bo and she wanted to protect him. "You're my husband and I love you. Just so you know, I've lost all interest. Carly and her secret can go to hell," Hope said.

Carly returned to Bo's house to talk to him about her run-in with Vivian at the hospital. In reference to Hope, Carly asked "She saw us kissing didn't she?" At the Kiriakis mansion, Hope returned home and overheard Vivian telling Victor about running into Carly at the hospital. "[Carly's] actually frightened out of her mind, which is going to make it all the easier to destroy her," Vivian chirped.

12/30 At the Brady house, Carly was furious with herself for having made things worse between Bo and Hope. Bo maintained that the end of his marriage had nothing to do with Carly and he wasn't sorry he'd kissed her. Carly then tried to refuse Bo's help in stopping Vivian. Bo pointed out that he didn't need Carly's permission to keep an eye on Vivian, but he wondered why Victor had gotten involved again with such a dangerous woman. Bo then escorted Carly to work at the hospital, despite her protests, because he wanted Vivian's people to report back that he was guarding Dr. Manning. Carly still fretted that she didn't want to cause more harm to Bo's marriage. Bo asserted that his and Hope's problems had begun long before Carly had returned to town, when Zack had died, and he never would have kissed Carly if his marriage weren't already in trouble.

"I have a solution: This," Carly declared, indicating the two of them, "will go no further." Bo conceded that they should put any more talk about their feelings on hold until they figured out how to stop Vivian from finding Carly's daughter. He planned to call the director of the Swiss hospital where the girl was born as soon as it opened, to determine how much Vivian had already learned. Something Bo said made Carly remember a time, years before, when they'd made love, and she smiled wistfully.

Hope eavesdropped outside the Kiriakis parlor door, while Victor tried to quell Vivian's excitement over the possibility of destroying Carly's life. Vivian giddily declared that even her "'B' material," such as the corpse in the hospital bed, had caused Carly to have a complete meltdown, before Vivian could get started tormenting her nemesis in earnest. Even Victor had to admit that was peculiar, and asked what Vivian planned next. Vivian started to declare that she knew Carly had a child, but Victor faked a sneeze before she could finish.

Just then, Justin rounded the corner in the foyer and spotted Hope listening outside the door. "Are you being punished? They won't let you inside?" he teased her loudly. Startled, Hope jumped, inadvertently revealing her presence to Victor and Vivian. Victor expressed his concern that Hope hadn't considered the mansion enough like her home to enter the living room. Hope assured him that she and Justin had just arrived, and Justin backed her claim. Vivian merrily "admitted" that she and Victor had just been discussing their plans for New Year's Eve in Chicago. As she and Victor left to run errands, Vivian made a pointed remark about how Hope's perfume always entered a room ahead of her.

Hope thanked Justin for playing along with her cover story. He was glad to have done it, but wanted to know why. Hope replied that Vivian had learned at least part of Carly's secret to which Victor was also apparently privy. Justin cracked a joke, comparing Vivian to a boa constrictor, but when Hope didn't laugh, he asked what was bothering her. Hope confessed that she'd seen Bo and Carly kissing. Justin was sympathetic, but Hope wouldn't let him comfort her, insisting that her marital problems were hers and Bo's alone. Justin pointed out that Carly was also involved, and that Vivian would not rest until she had learned Carly's secret and destroyed her life. Hope sarcastically declared that she didn't care, but Justin knew that she would never be able to live with herself unless she tried to stop Vivian. Hope conceded that Justin was right, but she would handle Vivian on her own, without telling Bo or Carly. Justin offered his help and reminded Hope that Vivian and Victor were spending New Year's Eve in Chicago.

12/31 Hope told Justin that Victor and Vivian planned to head for Chicago, which would give Hope and Justin a chance to find out what Vivian knew about Carly's secret and how Vivian planned to use that secret to destroy Carly. Victor and Vivian walked in and wondered what Justin and Hope were planning. Hope lied about Ciara having problems at school. Hope rushed Victor and Vivian out the door.

Hope and Justin entered Vivian's room to look for something that would reveal Vivian's secrets. Hope told Justin to look for documents that contained partial information about Carly's secret. They checked the closet, and Hope found a secret door in the wall that had a puzzle box in it. Hope tried to open it, and just when she was almost successful, they heard Vivian and Victor approaching the room. To cover, Hope and Justin started kissing, and when Vivian and Victor opened the door, they were stunned at what they saw.

1/4 Bo told Carly that the hospital where she had given birth to her daughter had a flood, and her files were never updated in the computer's mainframe. Therefore, Vivian's contact didn't get very much information. Carly was relieved and hugged Bo. She apologized for getting emotional. She knew that she couldn't let her guard down with Vivian. Bo said that the news meant that they had time, and Carly felt that she could concentrate on her work for a while as well. Carly asked why Bo wasn't with his family on New Year's Eve. Bo said that Hope and Ciara were at Victor's place, and Justin was there too, so he didn't feel comfortable being around Justin, who was making "not-so-subtle moves" on Hope. Carly said she didn't know that Bo knew about that. "Knew about what?" he asked. Carly said she was sure that Justin had feelings for Hope, but Bo wasn't surprised. Carly asked if it would matter to Bo if Justin had acted on his feelings. Bo said it "would change everything" if Hope and Justin were involved. Carly got a page from the hospital. Bo gave her some 2010 glasses, and Carly was reminded of the time they had spent New Year's Eve on the boat. At the hospital, Carly thought about the New Year's Eve that she and Bo had spent together.

At the Kiriakis mansion, Hope tried to open the puzzle box in Vivian's bedroom, but Vivian had returned home with Victor and was approaching the room. Hope tried to cover by kissing Justin. Vivian and Victor got an eyeful of Justin and Hope, and Victor angrily told both of them to get out of his house. Justin tried to explain himself, but Victor didn't want to hear it. Victor told Justin that he wouldn't allow Justin to make a move on Hope, Bo's wife, especially in Victor's house. "And especially in my bedroom," Vivian said. Hope spoke up and told Victor that it was her fault, and she begged him to listen to her. She told him to think about Ciara. Hope explained that she ran into Justin in the hallway, and she and Justin had been feeling sorry for themselves so one thing led to another.

Justin told Victor that it was an impulsive moment, and they both realized that it was wrong. Vivian demanded to know why they were kissing in her bedroom. Hope said that they thought they heard someone walking down the hallway, so they ducked into Vivian's room. Victor said that what they told him was excuses. Victor ordered Justin to leave the mansion. Justin acquiesced, and Victor asked for time alone with Hope. Victor asked what was going on with Hope. He said that she wasn't the woman that he knew, cheating on her husband and not concerned whether her daughter woke up and saw it. She apologized for disappointing Victor. He wanted to know what prompted such behavior, and Hope told Victor about how she saw Bo and Carly kissing. Hope said that if she hadn't thought her marriage was over before, she was sure it was after seeing Bo and Carly together.

Justin told Vivian that Bo had moved on with Carly. "I knew that whore would cause trouble for the two of you the minute she stepped foot in Salem," Victor said. Hope didn't think that Victor was being fair. Victor said that Hope didn't know the meaning of the word. Victor asked what Hope would have done if Ciara had walked in on her. He said that what Hope did was "egregiously" irresponsible. Hope said that Victor was right. Hope said that she felt ashamed. Victor accused Hope of betraying Bo, making a fool of Victor's nephew, Justin, and not protecting Victor's granddaughter against what could have been tremendous psychological damage. He said that he wasn't going to let her off the hook.

Hope didn't blame Victor for resenting her. Victor said that it was "a lot more than resentment." She said that Victor had always been an advocate for her and Bo. Hope didn't think it was "in the cards" for her and Bo. "Nothing is in the cards. That's how it works. It takes dedication and commitment. You can't just sit around, waiting to be dealt a winning hand, you have to take control of the situation." Hope asked Victor to stay out of her problems with Bo, because Victor's anger was fueling the fire. Victor refused to stay out of it. Hope said that she couldn't live there anymore, and she and Ciara would be out first thing in the morning. Victor tried to convince Hope to stay. He said that Carly was worse than Chloe, Sami, and Nicole all rolled up into one. He said that Carly was like poison, and he challenged her to figure out why Bo was so blinded by Carly.

Justin told Vivian to inform Victor that if he needed Justin to check for him at the Salem Inn. Justin told her that what was going on between Justin and Hope was none of Vivian's business. She said it was her concern, because she was very protective of Victor. Justin felt that Victor would get over it and would be shocked to learn what Bo had been up to. Vivian wanted to know what was going between Bo and Carly. Justin told her that Hope saw Bo and Carly kissing. Vivian called Carly a "duplicitous little tramp. Lawrence's ashes are barely cold, and she's trying to lure Bo into her sticky little web." Justin said that Carly didn't have to do too much luring.

Outside the Brady Pub, Vivian told Bo that his "indiscretion" had driven Hope into Justin's arms. Hope called Justin as he was checking into the hotel to tell him that she had threatened to move out of the mansion, but Victor had stopped her from doing so. Justin was glad, because he was certain that Hope would find Carly's secret. Hope said that the kiss that she and Justin shared was wrong. Justin said that their kiss worked, because Victor and Vivian didn't suspect why they were in Vivian's room.

Vivian told Bo that she saw Hope and Justin kissing passionately. Bo didn't believe her, but Vivian said that Victor witnessed it too. She told Bo that it was his fault because he kissed Carly. Bo was upset upon hearing the news.

1/5 Standing in the Kiriakis mansion foyer, Hope apologized to Justin for getting him kicked out. Justin told Hope everything was fine and then he headed upstairs to pack while Hope answered the front door. Bo arrived to pick up Ciara, and when he looked at the bags in the foyer, he asked who was moving. Justin descended the stairs and announced that he was moving out. Justin explained to Bo that he would be staying at the Salem Inn, and then he left.

Alone in the foyer, Hope told Bo that Victor kicked Justin out. When Bo asked why, Hope admitted that something had happened but that, judging by the look on Bo's face, he already knew. Hope wondered whether the news hurt Bo, and he countered, "You know it did." Bo explained that Vivian told him about the kiss. Shaking her head, Hope insisted that "it wasn't what you think." Angry, Bo argued that Justin had been after Hope since he returned to Salem. Hope explained that she kissed Justin and it was not Justin that kissed her. Before Hope could explain why she kissed Justin, Bo urged her to tell him whether Hope had feelings for Justin.

Hope admitted that she was not sure what she felt about anyone or anything. "I have been one half of Bo and Hope for most of my life and now I'm just supposed to be Hope, and how did we get here?" Hope said. Bo reminded Hope that she was the one to move out and that she gave up when Carly moved back to Salem. Hope argued that if Carly had not returned to town, they still would have had a lot of problems to work through in their marriage. "What would I have had to do? What should I have said? 'Cause you know damn well that I would have done anything, said anything," Bo countered. "You walked out on us," Bo said quietly.

As she approached Bo, Hope explained that she would have asked Bo to promise her that he would "never ask me to go against my instincts again." Hope added that she wanted an apology from Bo for risking Ciara's life in order to stand firm against the kidnappers. Bo reiterated his concern that if they had paid the ransom, the kidnappers would have murdered Ciara. Hope shook her head quietly and looked into Bo's eyes.

"I really wanted to hear you say that you didn't still have feelings for Carly, but I never heard those words," Hope remarked. Noting the look on Bo's face, Hope added that she did not think she ever would hear Bo say those words. "The reality is that a part of you always belonged to Carly," Hope said with tears in her eyes. Hope warned Bo that if Carly became a part of his life, her secret had better not hurt Ciara. "You know damn well that I would give my life before I let anything happen to our daughter," Bo stressed. As Ciara ran downstairs and hugged Bo, Hope wiped her eyes and put on a smile for her daughter. Bo carried Ciara out of the house, and Hope told the girl that she loved her.

Sad, Hope sat down in the living room with her head in her hands. Justin returned from the Salem Inn and asked Hope how things had gone with Bo. Hope informed Justin that Bo knew about their kiss, and that she did not tell Bo the reason for the kiss. Hope apologized again for hurting Justin, and he lamented not being around the house to assist Hope in her investigation of Vivian. Justin urged Hope to call him if she needed anything. When Hope talked about not being able to think of another cover story for being in Vivian's room, Justin joked, "Was kissing me so bad?" Surprised by Justin's jest, Hope assured Justin that her only worry was that in light of Justin's confession about his feelings, she felt guilty for using a kiss with him as their cover story for Vivian. Smiling, Justin said he understood why they kissed and that he understood it was not something she wanted to do. "Who knows? Maybe someday you will," Justin said sheepishly.

Over at her house, Maggie apologized to Bo for pushing so hard on New Year's Eve to get him and Hope back together. Bo told Maggie not to worry, since he knew her heart was in the right place. As Maggie poured two cups of coffee, she told Bo that she and Mickey were going on a cruise together. Maggie continued that her and Mickey's new year's resolution was to make more time for each other. Maggie suggested that Bo make a resolution to figure out how to fix his marriage. Sighing, Bo noted that his marriage issues were complicated. Maggie reminded Bo that there was a time when she and Mickey were nearly finished, but that they had become closer than ever. "You've got a terrific marriage," Bo commented. "So do you and Hope," Maggie returned. Maggie advised Bo to start small and let his marriage rebuild slowly.

1/8 Hope let herself in the back door at Mickey and Maggie's, to drop off some star charts for the two of them to use on their cruise. She was surprised to find Maggie sitting, dazed, at the kitchen table. Seeing the stricken look on Maggie's face, Hope gently asked what was wrong. Maggie explained that Mickey had been upstairs packing, and she'd gone up to check on him. He had been excited for their trip, Maggie said, and to spend time alone with her. "Maggie, what happened?" Hope asked.

"I tried CPR," Maggie began tearfully. "I kept trying and trying the compressions, over and over and over..." Her voice broke, and she stopped for a moment to compose herself. "I knew before I got to him that it was too late," Maggie continued, then added, weeping, that she hoped Mickey had gone quickly, without any pain.

Hope asked Maggie for permission to go upstairs. Maggie gave it willingly, but said she couldn't accompany Hope. "I've already held him in my arms, and I already told him that I..." She stopped again, her voice thick with emotion, and then asked if Mickey would be upset with her for not having the courage to return upstairs. "No, of course not," Hope reassured her, and then rose and slowly walked out of the kitchen.

When Hope returned, she told Maggie quietly, "I called 911. Everything's been taken care of." Maggie thanked her. Hope added that she had said goodbye to her Uncle Mickey, then finally she wrapped her arms around Maggie, and the two women wept together. The ambulance arrived, and Hope and Maggie watched as the attendants rolled the stretcher carrying Mickey's body through the living room. "Wait!" Maggie exclaimed. The men stopped, and Maggie approached her husband's sheet-covered form. She sobbed softly as she took Mickey's hand in hers, kissed it tenderly, then noticed that he wasn't wearing his wedding ring. She spotted it on a side table, next to his glasses.

"You must have taken it off while you were working," she noted, lovingly slipping the ring back onto his finger. "You never leave the house without it." Hope's face dissolved into tears as she watched. "I love you, my darling," Maggie addressed her husband adoringly. "I always will." She kissed his hand again, and then allowed the attendants to take Mickey out the front door. Hope placed a comforting hand on Maggie's shoulder, and Maggie fell into Hope's arms, and wept inconsolably. "What am I going to do?" Maggie cried.

Back in the kitchen, Hope made a cup of tea for Maggie, who was grateful that Hope was there. Hope promised that she would stay as long as Maggie needed. Maggie suddenly thought about Alice. "She's so frail now, and if she finds out about her son-Hope, we can't tell her! She'll never be able to take it." Maggie began to sob again. Although Hope said she would defer to Maggie's wishes, she thought Alice needed to know. Maggie agreed, so Hope called and asked if she could pay her grandmother a visit.

As Hope hung up, she saw Bo's picture on her phone, and had to take a deep breath to keep herself from sobbing aloud. She told Maggie that it would be better to break the news to Alice in person, but she didn't want to leave Maggie. Maggie reassured Hope that she really did want to be alone, plus she needed to call Melissa and Sarah. "I love you," Hope said, caressing her aunt's hair. "I love you too," Maggie replied fondly. Hope reluctantly left, as Maggie gazed at a picture of her and Mickey.

Bo was getting coffee at the Brady Pub when Justin walked in. Bo congratulated Justin sarcastically for finally winning Hope away from him. Justin played dumb, so Bo lit into him about kissing Hope. Justin grudgingly admitted it, but argued he was through being the good guy, especially since Bo had clearly moved on with Carly. He maintained that he had encouraged Hope to give Bo and their marriage another chance, but Bo didn't buy it.

Justin divulged that Hope had asked him to file legal separation papers a while back, but he had refused. "If you really loved her with all your heart and soul," Justin declared quietly, "you might have waited a few days before you turned around and kissed Carly Manning. So don't blame me that you gave up on your marriage. Don't blame me that you have no idea what you want." He turned and left without waiting for a reply.

Bo arrived and asked what all the pounding and yelling was about. The workman told him, "There's somebody freaking out in here!" Bo helped the man pry the doors apart, and Carly lurched out, gasping, into Bo's arms. Bo took Carly back to her room at the Salem Inn, where he opened beers for them, and asked her to tell him what had happened. Carly filled him in about what Vivian had done, adding guiltily, "I admitted that I killed Lawrence." She worried that Vivian would succeed in her attempts to drive Carly crazy, because Carly wasn't a strong person anymore, not after what Vivian and then Lawrence had done to her. Bo assured her, "You're the same Carly Manning I fell in love with." Carly was grateful that Bo had been there when she'd needed him. Bo nodded reassuringly, then took her face in his hands and kissed her.

1/11 Carly was grateful that Bo was there for her after Vivian had trapped her in an elevator. Bo grabbed Carly and kissed her passionately. Carly started to wonder what would have happened if Hope hadn't returned and Lawrence had not swept her off her feet. Bo said all that mattered was that they were together. Carly stopped herself from sleeping with Bo, because things were moving fast. Bo asked if she was afraid that he would regret having sex with her, and she said, "yes." Bo told Carly to leave the "outside world outside." He said for him and Carly at that moment, it felt right. Carly agreed. They began making love. Carly started to voice her regret, but Bo asked her to do him a favor, "Stay with us."

Vivian returned home and showed Victor the latest report on Carly's baby. Victor wanted to know how soon they could break Carly and stop her from getting her "filthy claws" into Bo. It seemed to be too late, because Bo and Carly had already made love. Carly told Bo that she loved him. Victor and Vivian could tell from the documents that Carly's child was a girl. Vivian said that Carly would know how it felt to "lose someone you love."

1/12 After Carly and Bo made love, Carly told Bo that she loved him. Before Bo could respond, his cell phone began to ring. Worried that it might be important, Bo grabbed his phone and noted aloud that Hope was calling. Bo started to let the call go to voicemail, but Carly encouraged Bo to answer the call in case it was about Ciara. Hope was on the phone and was holding back tears; she asked Bo where he was. Bo looked sheepishly at Carly as Hope went on to explain that Mickey had died. Bo offered to go visit Maggie, and Hope asked him to pick her up at the pub so that she could inform the employees at Mickey's office about his death. Bo assured Hope that he was on his way, and he hung up the phone. Turning to a concerned Carly, Bo told her that Mickey Horton had died. "Hope needs me," Bo said.

At the Brady Pub, Hope asked Doug how Julie was handling Mickey's death and breaking the news to the family. Doug told Hope that Melissa was having a difficult time dealing with the death of her father but that she was doing okay. With a small smile on his face, Doug said that though Mickey's sudden death was hard on the family, he believed Mickey would have preferred the suddenness rather than slowing down as he grew older. Hope nodded sadly and wondered aloud what was taking Bo so long. Hope confided in Doug that she was preparing to file separation papers, but when she thought about going to Mickey's office to break the news about his death, she realized that what she needed most at that moment was Bo at her side. Doug advised Hope that she clearly had reservations about the separation and said not to do anything that "can't be undone." Hope admitted that she might be too late to stop Bo from doing something that would drive them further apart.

In the hotel room, Bo hurriedly dressed to go meet Hope, and Carly reminded Bo that she would be available if he needed her. Citing her daughter's closeness to Mickey and Maggie, Carly told Bo that she was going to find her daughter and see if she was doing all right. Bo apologized for taking off, but Carly told him not to worry because she had enjoyed their afternoon together. After Bo left, Carly pulled the picture of her daughter out of her wallet and stared at it.

Back at the Brady Pub, Doug asked Hope why she felt that Bo might have done something to drive them apart. Hope explained that she was the one who had moved out and that she did not want Doug to be mad at Bo. When Hope compared what Maggie had lost to her situation with Bo, Doug reminded Hope that she still had time to fix their marriage. "If you and Bo need to talk, take your time," Doug advised before leaving. As Hope sat at her table and sniffled back tears, she said quietly, "Maybe we don't need to talk. Maybe what I need to do is just go home."

Bo arrived at the pub, and Hope rushed, weeping, into his arms. Hope informed Bo that Doug had gone to Mickey's office to break the news about his death and had spared her the task. Hope apologized for taking Bo away from whatever he had been doing when she called, but Bo assured her that she was his priority. Nervous about seeing Maggie, Hope suggested that they stay at the pub for a while longer. Wiping away tears, Hope told Bo that she had been thinking about what Mickey and Maggie had had together and that it had reminded her of what she and Bo had together. With a look of hope on his face, Bo asked his wife what she was saying.

"I was thinking that maybe Ciara..." Hope started before a woman interrupted by inquiring about Carly's emotional breakdown earlier. "Did you get Dr. Manning home from the hospital all right?" the woman asked. After Bo assured the woman that Carly was fine, he turned his gaze back to Hope. "That's where you were when I called? That's why you couldn't talk?" Hope asked. "You slept with her didn't you?" Hope said, her voice cracking. Bo looked down at the table and said nothing.

"Thank you for not trying to lie about it," Hope said. Bo apologized, adding, "You're having a horrible day, and I made it worse." Upset, Hope grabbed her purse and announced that she was going to head to Maggie's by herself. "I need to start learning how to get through things alone," Hope muttered as she walked away.

In the kitchen, Hope returned, looking for Maggie. Still shaken by the revelation about Bo and Carly, Hope sat down in a chair before going into the other room to find Maggie.

Back in the living room, Mia opened the door and found Carly standing on the porch. Carly explained that when she heard the news about Mickey she had felt compelled to head over and check on how Mia and Melanie were doing. Before Mia could say anything, Hope entered the living room and called out Maggie's name. As Hope rounded the corner, she spotted Carly and stopped dead in her tracks. "You whore," Hope spat out. "You sleep with my husband, and then you have the nerve to come here?" Hope questioned.

At the Brady Pub, a police officer handed Bo an envelope with new information about the kidnapping case.

1/13 At the Brady Pub, a uniformed officer handed over some new evidence in Sydney's kidnapping to Bo. Will arrived and overheard, and excitedly concluded that his baby sister had been found. After a quick phone call, Bo explained that a child matching Sydney's description had been spotted with a woman in Atlanta, but the girl had actually been the woman's niece. After a disappointed Will headed into the kitchen, Bo left a succinct message for Carly: "Hope knows."

Carly went to the Horton's house to pay her respects to Maggie. As Mia was trying to politely turn Carly away, Hope walked into the room and froze when she saw Carly on the doorstep. "You whore," Hope uttered contemptuously. "You sleep with my husband, and you have the nerve to come here? Get out. Get out. Get the hell out!" Hope ordered, her voice growing louder with each syllable she spat out, until she was shrieking. Maggie let out a choked sob from the couch behind Hope, and Hope whirled around, immediately appalled at her behavior. Maggie invited the others, Mia, Melanie, Philip, Doug, Julie, Lucas, Nathan, and Stephanie, to join her in the kitchen for some tea. A remorseful Hope hugged Maggie and begged her forgiveness. Maggie could only manage to cry, "It's simply too much to take on this horrible day!" before following everyone out. Doug asked if Hope wanted him to handle Carly, but Hope firmly refused. Doug glared at Carly with disdain as he stalked out of the room.

In the kitchen, Maggie hung up the phone, and tearfully informed the group that because of bad weather, Melissa couldn't get a flight into Salem until the next morning. Philip assured Maggie that he would make sure Melissa got there, and he stepped outside with his cell phone. An emotional Maggie gratefully asked the others, "What would I do without all of you?" After Julie and Maggie left to check on Alice, Lucas asked Doug how he was doing. Doug noted with irony that he'd just that afternoon been telling Hope not to give up on Bo. Lucas noticed that Carly's car was still parked outside, and he jokingly offered to "do something about it," but Doug declined. While their backs were turned, Melanie quietly pushed through the swinging door into the front room.

Carly, who had waited uncomfortably outside, explained apologetically to Hope, "I honestly didn't think you would be here. Bo said you were going to Mickey's office." She offered to leave, but Hope declared that they should finish their "little talk." Hope asserted that the only possible reason Carly could have for leaving Bo's bed to visit Hope's newly widowed aunt was to inflict pain. Carly's posture changed from contrite to defensive as she urged Hope to think about Maggie's family and not to get into a fight with Carly right then. Hope replied bitterly, "Good, sound advice from the woman who's sleeping with my husband."

Fed up, Carly noted that Hope had been pushing Bo away for months, so she was hardly blameless in the situation. "You're hilarious," Hope scoffed, continuing, "You sleep with my husband; it's my fault." Carly maintained that Hope had ended the marriage, so Bo had moved on. "I am sorry for your uncle," Carly declared. "I am not sorry about Bo." Hope believed that Carly had returned to Salem to bed Bo -- and then she'd gone to Maggie's to gloat about it. Carly insisted that she had returned because she'd needed help; she'd never expected to fall in love with Bo again. Hope was incredulous. "You murdered your husband, but now you love mine?"

Melanie let out a disbelieving laugh from the kitchen doorway. "I'm sorry, you're a murderer, too?" Although Carly tried to explain, Melanie angrily ordered her to leave. Hope put an arm around Melanie and gently urged her to return to the kitchen. Melanie agreed, but first hissed at Carly, "Can you just think about how sad everybody is, and how you're just making things worse?" After Melanie left, Carly apologized for what Hope was going through, but castigated her for making Carly's private life public. An unsympathetic Hope lashed out furiously at Carly for dragging Bo into her "sordid, ugly life" and then sleeping with him, just as Bo walked in the front door.

Hope declared, "Welcome to your worst nightmare." Carly quickly explained to Bo that she had gone there to offer her condolences to Maggie. Pacing back and forth, Hope quietly ranted that she was acting out because Carly had shown up to gloat about sleeping with Bo. Bo gently suggested that Carly should leave, and Carly wasted no time in exiting. Hope demanded that Bo leave, as well, but he wanted to know if anyone else had heard her and Carly's argument. Hope assumed it was because Bo didn't want his dirty laundry aired. He clarified that it would just be better for Maggie and her family if they didn't know all the sad details of Bo and Hope's lives. Hope became increasingly upset as she revealed that she'd only known about Bo sleeping with Carly for a short while when Carly had shown up, and Hope had lost her temper. Hope then tearfully ordered Bo to leave. After he had gone, she sat down in a wing chair and sobbed bitterly.

When Doug returned, he found Hope pacing and crying on the front porch. "Oh, Daddy!" she wailed, flinging her arms around him. Once she'd calmed a little, she apologized for her behavior. Doug assured her that no one blamed her, and he asked if it were true that Bo was with Carly. "It's like what I said this afternoon. Something happened that I can't get back from," Hope replied miserably. "I waited too long. Oh, Daddy, I lost him. I lost Bo!" Doug held her tightly as she wept.

Bo knocked on Carly's door at the Salem Inn and was surprised to find her packing to leave town. "What about your daughter?" Bo asked. "She despises me," Carly replied, continuing to hurl things into a suitcase, adding, "And for good reason." Bo grabbed her and forced her to stop packing. "You can't go," he declared. Carly argued that she had ruined his life. Bo assured her that she wasn't responsible for the breakup of his marriage and he didn't want her to leave.

1/14 Maggie prepared for the reception following Mickey's memorial service. Hope told Maggie to sit down and relax, and Hope would take care of the food, but Maggie needed something to keep her busy. Doug asked Hope where Bo was and whether he had arrived at Maggie's house, but Hope said, "Obviously not." Melissa returns and is reunited with her family.

Instead, Bo had stopped by the hospital to fill a prescription for Alice, and while he was there, he saw Carly. She asked why he wasn't at the service, and he explained that it was over, and everyone was gathered at Maggie's house. He wanted to give Hope some time before he went over there. Carly encouraged Bo to go to Maggie's house and be with his family.

Bo stopped by with Alice's medication and planned to drop it off and leave, but Hope told him that he could stay if he wanted to. Once Bo and Hope were alone in the kitchen, Bo said that he was surprised that she wanted him to stay. "Today's about Maggie and Gram, not about us," Hope said. Bo apologized for hurting Hope. "I thought I had time to figure out what to do about us, but I was a fool," Hope said.

Bo said Hope wasn't a fool. She acknowledged hurting Bo. "I know that you think I am so self-righteous, and maybe I come off that way sometimes when I'm angry and upset and not quite myself," she said. She admitted being partly responsible for what had happened. Hope said it felt like "there's no going back now."

"I can't remember the last funeral I wasn't by your side, leaning on you," Hope said. Bo knew she was referring to Zach's funeral. Hope said she was tired of saying goodbye to the people she loved, and she hugged him and cried in his arms just as Justin walked in. Bo heard the door shut, and they stopped hugging. Hope thanked Justin for being there, and Bo left the room to give them privacy.

At the Kiriakis mansion, Victor thought that Vivian would have a tough time figuring out who Carly's daughter was, but Vivian was undeterred. She said that she was determined to make Carly suffer for cheating on Lawrence. She broke Lawrence’s heart and killing him years later. Vivian referred to Carly as a "cold-blooded bitch" and vowed to avenge Lawrence's death.

The family shared their favorite memories about Mickey. Julie said Mickey had always been there for her and had always managed to lift everyone's spirits. Hope told Maggie that Maggie's marriage to Mickey was an "inspiration to all of us," and she looked at Bo. Nathan said he hoped that someday he would meet someone that he could love like Mickey had loved Maggie. Melissa talked about how Mickey and Maggie had adopted her and loved her unconditionally. Melanie said that Mickey had been smart, because he "chose the most amazing, beautiful, caring, generous woman in the whole world to be his wife."

Melanie said that Maggie was the best role model anyone could ask for, and Melanie hoped to be one one-thousandth of the woman that Maggie was when Melanie grew up. Maggie said she wouldn't be the woman she was if it weren't for Mickey. She remembered when they first met while Maggie had been living on a farm by herself. Doug toasted to Mickey. After everyone said there goodbyes, Maggie has flashbacks in a montage to her and Mickey.

Bo went to the hospital to see Carly, and she said that her daughter hated her. "Melanie hates me," she said.

1/15 At the hospital, Carly fretted to Bo, "My daughter hates me. Melanie hates me!" Bo thought Carly was overreacting and pointed out that Melanie could sometimes be defensive, even aggressive. Bo was surprised when Carly informed him that Melanie had gotten engaged to Philip. Carly was more concerned about what Vivian would do to Melanie in order to avenge Lawrence's death if Melanie moved into the mansion after marrying Philip. Although Bo tried to talk her out of it, Carly decided that she had to see Melanie right away and apologize for her quarrel with Hope.

Bo arrived as Vivian was headed out to put her plot into action. He presented Vivian with a restraining order, which prevented her from getting anywhere near Carly. An indignant Vivian claimed she had never tried to harm Carly. Bo angrily warned Vivian that if anything happened to Carly, "What happened to your nephew will seem like child's play." A smirking Vivian inferred from Bo's impassioned defense that he was sleeping with Carly. Victor was furious, but Bo refused to acknowledge the accusation. As he stormed out, Bo ordered, "Stay the hell away from her, both of you!"

A livid Victor ranted that it was taking Vivian too long and to take her revenge already, to just do it! He continued that Bo hadn't considered how Ciara would suffer if she learned about her father and Carly. Victor blamed Vivian, contending, "You made Bo be so protective of that harlot, she wormed her way into his bed." He demanded that Vivian definitively determine who Carly's daughter was. "Find her weakness, and destroy her. Do it now!"

Bo showed up outside of Maggie’s door just as Carly was about to knock on the door again. She informed him that it hadn't gone well with Melanie. Bo put his arm around her and began to lead her away. "I played this all wrong," Carly stated, just as Melanie opened the front door, adding, "I need to tell her the truth." Melanie's eyes widened. "I'm sorry, tell me the truth about what?" Melanie demanded.

1/18 Vivian tried to encourage Hope to seek revenge against Carly for sleeping with Bo. Hope had told Vivian that she didn't want to talk about it, but after Vivian raised the possibility of revenge, Hope said she had changed her mind and welcomed a chance to vent. Hope said that Carly and Bo had been acting like they were keeping a "deep, dark secret" from Hope. Hope asked whether Vivian knew, but Vivian said that she didn't. Vivian apologized for being insensitive to Hope by bringing up Bo's affair. Hope remembered the puzzle box that Vivian had hidden in her closet. Hope vowed not to be the only one in the dark about Carly's secret any longer. Meanwhile, when Gus arrived at the mansion, she told him about the restraining order that Bo helped Carly take out on Vivian, so Vivian asked Gus to follow Carly to discover who Carly's daughter was.

Outside Maggie's house, Melanie overheard Carly tell Bo that she needed to "tell her the truth." When Melanie asked whether they were talking about her and why, Carly covered by saying that she was referring to Hope. Melanie guessed what Carly meant by "the truth," and she assumed Carly was planning to tell Hope that Carly was pregnant.

"Oh my God! What is wrong with you? What are you, some teenage boy? Have you never heard of birth control?" Melanie told Bo. Carly denied that she was pregnant, and Melanie wondered what else she was keeping from Hope and what could be worse than sleeping with Bo. Bo tried to convince Carly to leave. "Yeah, that's right. Keep going. Why talk to me when you could be cheating on your wife some more?" Melanie told Bo.

"I should probably keep Philip away from you, shouldn't I, since you seem to have a thing for the Kiriakis men," Melanie told Carly. Bo tried to get Melanie to shut up, but she kept talking. "You really wanted to go all cougar on me," Melanie said. Then she had a frightening thought. "Oh my God! Is that why you didn't want to marry Philip?" Melanie added. Carly said that she didn't want to see Melanie get hurt.

"There she goes again. First, she cares about how I think about her, and now she doesn't want to see me get hurt. And I don't know what it is with you, lady, or why you care, but I can't figure out why you don't just leave me alone and let me live my life," Melanie told Carly. Melanie said she was "freaked out" by Carly's "phony interest." Bo berated Melanie for being disrespectful and rude to Carly even before Melanie knew that Carly and Bo were involved. "Did you tell your boyfriend I was mean to you?" Melanie asked Carly. Melanie said that only reinforced Melanie's "weirded-out feeling" that Carly cared too much about Melanie's life "for no reason at all."

"Maybe she cares because she's a kind person," Bo said. "All the more reason it's so weird, since all I've been is rude and disrespectful to her," Melanie said. Brady arrived and interrupted their conversation, so Bo and Carly took the opportunity to leave. Melanie vented to Brady about how Carly got under Melanie's skin.

Maggie met with Hope at the Java Café, but Maggie was eager to get home and fix Alice's lunch. Hope reminded Maggie that Melissa was with Alice, but Maggie said that Alice kept asking for Maggie. Maggie said that Alice was in a "fragile state and the least little thing sets her off." Hope asked Maggie to meet with her to give Maggie a chance to let someone else be concerned about Maggie. Maggie said that she didn't want to focus to be on herself, because "being needy" was not Maggie's style. Maggie said she would rather not deal with losing Mickey.

Maggie accused Hope of focusing on Maggie so that Hope didn't have to focus on her own situation with Bo. Hope assured Maggie that she was focused on Maggie because she loved Maggie. Hope felt that her own pain was minor compared to Maggie's. Maggie told Hope to let her help Hope. Maggie asked if Hope still wanted Bo back like she did before she found out about Bo sleeping with Carly. Hope said that Bo was with someone else. "Not because he loves her," Maggie said. Hope asked how Maggie knew that. "I know Bo Brady loves you. That's how," Maggie said. "Hope, listen to someone who knows all too well how fleeting it can be," Maggie added. She urged Hope to fight for Bo.

Carly vented to Bo about how frustrated she was with the way Melanie treated Carly. Bo wanted to change the subject so that Carly could stop beating up on herself. "So how long should I let this go -- forever?" she said. "No, I don't think so," Bo said. He said that there were ways to undermine what Vivian was doing, to expose what she was up to and make her stop. Carly felt that Melanie deserved better than to have a mother like Carly, and Carly anticipated that when Melanie found out that Carly was her mother, she would want nothing to do with Carly. Bo assured Carly that she had made every effort to connect with Melanie. He explained that Melanie had a tough life, but he said that Carly gave up her daughter so that Melanie would have a life. Carly said she felt the pain of having to give Melanie up as a baby every time Carly saw Melanie. Carly blamed herself for giving Melanie up for adoption, but Bo told her to stop second-guessing herself. Carly was resigned to the thought that she would never be a mother to Melanie. After Carly left, Bo said to himself, "You're wrong, Princess. It will happen. I'll make sure of it."

1/19 At the Kiriakis mansion, Philip asked Bo to be in his wedding ceremony. Bo was reluctant, so Philip explained to him that he wanted his brothers to be at his side during the ceremony. Grinning, Bo agreed. Switching gears, Philip asked Bo whether he was going to reconcile with Hope. Bo admitted that his marriage was over. Philip added that he was aware that Bo was dating Carly, but that he could not let him invite Carly to the wedding. Philip started to apologize about excluding Carly, but Bo added that in light of Carly and Hope's confrontation at Maggie's, he did not believe Carly was interested in going to the wedding.

As Bo leaned back in his chair, he noticed that Vivian was entering the front door of the mansion and disappearing behind the door in the hallway. Raising his voice, Bo said that he did not believe Carly would be attending any family gatherings. In the hallway, Vivian listened intently as Bo told Philip that he was the reason that Carly had returned to Salem. "We've been in love for a long time. We still are," Bo said, raising his voice slightly for Vivian to hear.

Smirking, Philip told Bo that he did not believe Bo's story and pointed at Bo's wedding ring as proof. Bo pulled off his wedding ring and asked Philip not to tell anyone how long the affair had been going on. Vivian walked into the living room and asked Bo whether he was there to visit Hope. Bo glowered at Vivian, then walked out of the house. Vivian noted to Philip that she overheard what Bo said about his affair with Carly. Philip reminded Vivian that telling anyone about the affair would only hurt Hope. After Philip left the room, Vivian shook her head. "Poor Hope. Collateral damage," Vivian said.

At the Java Café, Bo informed Abe that he had let Vivian overhear him tell Philip that Carly had returned to Salem for him. Bo explained that he was attempting to lead Vivian "off the trail." Abe asks if he has thought about the consequences of Bo giving Vivian this information, she whose brain runs out there where the buses don’t run! Worried about Hope, Abe noted that Bo's plan could end up hurting Hope. "Do you think about her or just Carly?" Abe asked. Bo said that he cared about both women, but Abe shook his head. Noting that Bo had used the phrase "off the trail," Abe asked Bo what he meant. Bo explained that Carly had a secret that he was protecting.

"Your life would be a hell of a lot simpler if Dr. Manning had never come back," Abe noted. Bo reminded Abe that Hope had moved out of the house prior to Carly's return, and that things would still be complicated if Carly had not reentered his life. Worried, Bo told Abe that he was concerned that Vivian might tell Hope about the lie he had told Philip earlier. Abe suggested that Bo tell Hope the truth, but Bo reminded Abe that Hope lived with Vivian and that she might slip up in front of Vivian. Bo said that he would have to wait for the situation to be resolved before he could tell Hope the whole truth. Chuckling, Abe asked Bo whether he believed there would be a happy ending after everything that had happened.

1/20 Bo was drinking coffee at the Brady Pub when Melanie walked in. Bo approached her and declared that they needed to talk, since they were about to become family. With a heavy dose of sarcasm, a skeptical Melanie pointed out that she didn't need anyone else telling her how to run her life. Bo assured her that wasn't his intention; he just wanted to make sure she knew that she had people in her corner-for example, Bo and Maggie, and Carly, who truly wanted to be Melanie's friend. Melanie refused to believe that Carly cared about her, but Bo urged her to give Dr. Manning a chance. Melanie declared, "All I know about Carly is that she offed her husband and then stole Hope's, okay? So I don't want to have anything to do with her." Melanie then left in a huff.

In the parlor at the Kiriakis mansion, Vivian proclaimed to Hope that she'd learned Carly's secret. Vivian described how she'd overheard Bo telling Philip that Carly had returned to Salem with her sights set on Bo-and she had been pursuing him for a long time. Hope didn't buy it for a minute, but Vivian pointed out that the sequence of events was practically proof. Hope ordered Vivian, "From now on, keep your theories to yourself. If I need answers, I'll get them myself." Hope stormed out.

Bo was at home, on the phone with one of his officers, when Carly pounded on the front door. She was furious with Bo about what he'd said to Philip. Bo argued that Vivian had been listening in, and he'd done it to throw Vivian off the trail of Carly's daughter. "Better a scarlet letter than a black armband," Bo noted. Carly worried that Bo had put himself in danger by making it seem that he was "available to be caught" when she pursued him.

Just then, Hope knocked on the door. Hope was rattled to see Carly in the Bradys' house, but quietly asked why Bo hadn't told her that Carly had returned for him. Bo replied merely, "I'm sorry," leading Hope to conclude that what Vivian had contended was the truth. "Now I know that she's always been on your mind, all these years," Hope declared sadly. "Now I know that our marriage has been a complete lie-all of it."

Carly tried to insist that Bo hadn't known that she'd been planning to return for him, but Bo interrupted her to apologize to Hope for Vivian's hurtful gossip. Hope seemed not to hear a word either of them said. "You took off your wedding ring," she observed, stunned. "Was that before or after you slept with her?" Bo tried to explain, but Hope cut him off. "You son of a bitch!" she hissed. On her way out the front door, she angrily yanked a picture off the wall, hurled it to the floor, and shattered it, before she slammed the door behind her.

As Bo cleaned up the broken glass later, he fielded another call updating him about Sydney's kidnapping. He told Carly that he had to head down to the station. "I'm sorry," Carly stated ruefully. "I know how much what just happened with Hope hurt you." Bo replied bitterly, "She made her bed; now she's got to lie in it." He reiterated his vow to protect Carly and her daughter, and then left.

Justin found Hope in the parlor when he went to the Kiriakis mansion to drop off the minutes from the board meeting for Victor. As soon as he saw the devastated look on Hope's face, he asked what was wrong. "Carly never stopped loving him," Hope replied. "She came back to get him-and he welcomed her with open arms." Heartbroken, she collapsed in sobs against Justin's shoulder. Justin held her while she cried, stroked her hair, and asked what he could do to help her feel better. Hope looked into his eyes, and allowed him to press his lips against hers. She kissed him back for a moment, but then pulled away. "I'm not ready," she whispered. Justin understood, and declared that Bo didn't deserve her. Hope thanked him for being there for her. "For you, anything," he replied sincerely.

1/21 At the Kiriakis mansion, Hope told Justin that she needed time and wasn't ready to get involved with anyone else. Hope said she wondered whether her marriage was ever worth saving. Hope assumed that having Justin read stories to Ciara made him miss his family even more, but Justin said that it helped.

Julie met with Hope at the pub, and Hope informed her that Carly was in town because she wanted Bo and had tried to get back into Bo's life for years. Julie seemed skeptical. She didn't believe that Carly had been in love with Bo all along and "had such a hold on him that when she returned to Salem, he couldn't resist her considerable charms." Julie reassured Hope that Bo loved Hope, but Hope wasn't convinced. "You don't hurt someone you love like that. You don't turn around and sleep with another woman just because," Hope said. Julie tried to defend Bo, but Hope cut her off. "I know. I moved out of the house. I took Ciara with me. I told Bo that I needed time. I needed time, just needed some time. I guess he was ready to move on. It's just that it was so easy for him," Hope said. Julie surmised that Carly had been aggressive towards Bo, and Hope thought that Bo was playing the hero role. Julie said that Bo didn't do anything for Carly that he wouldn't have done for anyone he cared about. "He didn't have to fall in bed with her. He's not my hero anymore. Never will be again," Hope said.

Julie tried to get Hope to admit that she still loved Bo. "I wish I didn't. Then it wouldn't hurt so much," Hope said. She thought that it was too late for her and Bo. "Oh, no. It's never too late," Julie said. Hope confided in Julie that Justin hoped there could be something between Hope and Justin. Julie reassured Hope that it was okay to lean on an old friend. Hope said that Bo was the only man in her heart. Bo loved other women, Hope said, while Hope had never loved another man. "I don't think I ever will," she said. Justin asked what Hope planned to do about it. Nathan went to the pub to meet Stephanie and ran into Hope and Julie. Julie told him that Melissa was pleased to see him with Stephanie.

Carly ran into Victor at the hospital, and he asked if she was trying to avoid him. "I am constantly amazed that a man like you could have produced a son like Bo," Carly said.
"That's exactly what I want to talk to you about," he said. "Your moral repugnance?" she said. "No, yours," he said.
"Oh, I would think that if you could forgive Vivian for trying to kill Kate and Kate for trying to kill a number of people, you could surely get over your resentment of me after all these years," she said.
"Resentment? It goes far beyond that. For what you did to me, I say, 'Goodbye and good riddance.' For what you did to my son, you're going to be sorry you ever showed your face in this town again," Victor said. He said Bo was using Carly to punish Hope. Carly said that Victor's interest in Bo's sex life was "unhealthy."

"I won't say this again, you leave us alone," Carly said. "You won't have to. I'm as disgusted with Bo's behavior as I am sick of looking at your face," Victor said. He told Carly that Philip planned to take Melanie on Victor's yacht for their honeymoon, and Victor and Vivian planned to join them. Carly objected.

Victor asked if Carly didn't want him to leave town. "I don't care what you do. I doubt that Philip and Melanie are thrilled at the idea of having you and that other thing tag along with them on their honeymoon," she said. Victor asked why she was concerned. Carly said it didn't concern her, and she ordered him to get out of her life. "You're not going to get rid of me that easily. I know what you did to Lawrence. Hurt my son, and I'll hurt you," he threatened and then walked away. "Hurt my daughter, you won't have the chance," she said to herself.

1/22 At the hospital, Bo told Daniel about the restraining order he had issued against Vivian. Shrugging, Daniel wondered whether the restraining order would keep Vivian at bay. Bo asked Daniel to call him if Vivian appeared at the hospital while Carly was on duty, and Daniel agreed.

At the Brady Pub, Philip apologized to Bo for being rude about Carly. Bo waved off Philip's apology, and noted that he had made plenty of comments about Philip's life in the past. Philip assured Bo that he still wanted Bo to be a part of the wedding but reiterated that Carly could not attend the ceremony. "I understand," Bo said. Bo answered his front door to find a distraught Carly. Carly began to rant about Vivian and worried aloud about how Vivian was growing closer to Melanie. Carly informed Bo about what happened at the Java Café, and Bo reminded Carly to avoid Vivian. Sighing, Carly told Bo that if Daniel had not shown up when he did, Carly might have told Melanie that she was Carly's daughter. Carly assured Bo that the secret was still safe.

1/25 At the Brady Pub, Hope stared at a model sailboat and remembered the good times she had shared with Bo. She got up to leave and literally bumped into Bo, which caused the boat to crash to the floor. Bo picked it up and started to apologize, but Hope told him that she would just buy another one for Ciara. She said that Ciara had heard so much about Bo and Hope's boat that she wanted one. Hope started to leave, but instead decided to ask Bo why he lied to her. Bo apologized for not telling Hope about Carly's intentions. Hope said she wasn't referring to that lie. Hope said she could believe that Carly never stopped loving Bo and returned to Salem to win him back. She said that Carly's plan to seduce Bo wasn't the secret that Bo and Carly were keeping from Hope. It was something "more dire," Hope said.

Bo wouldn't confirm Hope's suspicions. He said he had already told Hope all that he could. "So this secret is why our marriage ended, and you still don't have the decency to tell me what it is," Hope said. "It's not," Bo said. "It's not what?" Hope asked. "The secret didn't end our marriage. You did," Bo said.

"So we're back to that again, blaming me. Must be easy for you," Hope said. Bo said he never meant to hurt her. She called it a "tired cliché." "Not when I mean it," he said. "Mean it? How could you possibly mean it when you continue to hurt me -- when it just goes on," she said. Hope said she understood that Carly never stopped loving him, "but years went by" and Carly and Bo lived "two completely different lives."

"So why now? You see, there is another reason she came back to Salem, isn't there?" Hope asked. She said that if Bo was sincere about never meaning to hurt Hope, he would tell her what Carly's secret was. Bo refused to tell Hope. "I'm gonna go buy Ciara another sailboat. If only everything was so easily replaceable, but then again, I was, wasn't I? Like that," Hope said, snapping her fingers. Then she stormed out.

Meanwhile, Gus called Vivian with good news, Melanie was Carly's daughter.

Carly stopped by Bo's house to tell him that she offended Maggie and Mia, but she noticed that Bo was upset and asked what happened, but he didn't want to talk about it. Carly told him that they would get through whatever it was together. Meanwhile, Hope looked at the toy sailboat and thought of her life on the open sea with Bo. Hope threw the broken sailboat into the water.

Dvd #77B 1/27 Bo was surprised to find Rafe sitting at a computer in the police station at such an early hour. Rafe admitted he'd never gone home, because he'd been reviewing the evidence in Sydney's kidnapping while waiting for the forensics report on the ransom notes. Bo urged Rafe to go home and be with Sami, but Rafe didn't think Sami wanted to see him. Rafe explained that Sami blamed him for the bungled ransom drop, and had started to lean on E.J. Bo thought that was a bad idea. An officer delivered the forensics report, which Bo and Rafe then read together. The results infuriated Rafe, and he stormed out of the station.

When Justin joined Hope for breakfast at the Brady Pub, he spotted Carly at the bar and suggested to Hope that they go elsewhere. "This is my family's pub," Hope replied. "I'm not going anywhere." Carly overheard, ordered her coffee to go, and then left. Justin noted with chagrin that Carly was a completely different person from the woman he'd known. Hope wanted to know what he meant, and was concerned for Ciara's sake, but Justin's ringing cell phone interrupted them before he could explain. Hope assured Justin that she understood, and dashed out.

Carly called Bo from the pier, and asked if he would meet her at the Java Café instead of the pub. As Carly hung up, Hope approached her and stated calmly that they needed to talk. Carly concurred, so Hope declared, "This isn't a game. You hurt my husband, you will answer to me." Carly pointed out that Hope had walked out on Bo and taken Ciara with her, despite the obvious pain it had caused him. Hope contended that Bo was oblivious that the supposedly kind woman he'd once known had become a cold-blooded killer.

"Whatever secrets, or should I say baggage, you’re dragging into my husband's life, it had better not hurt my daughter," Hope warned. "Or Bo, for that matter."

An aggravated Carly noted that during the time she had spent with Bo and Shawn-Douglas after Hope had been presumed dead, she had believed that Hope must have been an amazing woman to have raised such a beautiful little boy, and to have meant so much to Bo. "You want to talk about what someone's become, you need to do it with someone else," Carly concluded. "Because what you've become?" Exasperated, Carly started to walk away without finishing the though, but Hope grabbed her arm.
"Don't you dare walk away from me," Hope hissed.

Just then, Bo arrived, and demanded to know what was going on. Sidestepping the question, Hope quietly asked Bo if she could speak to him alone. Bo replied that if it wasn't about Ciara, they had nothing to say to each other that needed to be in private. Hope gave up, but expressed her gratitude to Carly for being there for Shawn. "You could have had Bo then," Hope continued. "But instead, you ran off with Lawrence, so you could have all that money. You chose money over love." Bo shook his head in disgust, and then led Carly away. Hope's eyes filled with tears as she watched them leave together. "And I have nothing," she whispered.

As they arrived at the Bradys' house, Bo asked Carly what Hope had said to her. Carly wouldn't answer, believing that Hope was understandably angry and jealous. Bo offered to talk to Hope, but Carly pointed out, "Hope is the least of my worries." She wished aloud that she could tell Hope and Justin that Melanie was the real reason for Carly's return to Salem, then noticed that Bo wasn't really listening. "Go talk to her," Carly urged. Bo reminded her that he'd tried that, but he and Hope apparently had nothing left to say to each other. "Besides," he added, putting his arms around Carly, "I'm right where I want to be."

2/1 Bo spoke to Ciara by webcam, but there was a knock at the door, so he said goodbye. Carly arrived to tell Bo that she felt that Melanie was warming up to Carly, and Carly wanted to tell Melanie that Carly was her mother. Bo thought it wasn't a good idea, because Melanie was an emotional person and wouldn't be able to keep news like that to herself. Therefore, Vivian would find out somehow. Bo held Carly's face and told her that they would get through it together. Bo was sorry that Carly couldn't tell her daughter the truth. Carly agreed that Bo was right, if Melanie knew that Carly was her mother, Vivian would get it out of Melanie.

At Maggie's house, Caroline and Maggie left Ciara in the kitchen to finish her food. While they were gone, she turned on the laptop webcam again so she could talk to Bo and saw Bo and Carly kissing on the couch. Ciara heard them discussing Melanie being Carly's daughter. Later, Caroline decided to take Ciara to Bo's house for a surprise visit.

Carly left to start her shift at the hospital. On her way out, just as she was opening the door, she told him she loved him. Caroline and Ciara were at the door and heard her. Caroline did not look happy. "This is a surprise," Bo told Ciara as he hugged her. "Apparently so," Caroline said. She told Carly, "Don't let me keep you." Ciara went upstairs to draw a picture.

Bo could tell that his mother was upset with him, so he let her have her say. She asked if he ever thought about anybody but himself. "I'm a selfish bastard, Ma. My family doesn't mean a damn thing to me," Bo said sarcastically. "That came out stronger than I meant it to be. God knows I'm not in a position to throw stones," Caroline said.
"You always say that before the big guns," Bo said. "Okay, the big guns. You think about what it does to Ciara when she comes home, and she sees Carly, and then she hears this woman tell her daddy that she loves him," Caroline said.
"Is that any worse than her mommy in their new home, doing whatever she does with Justin?" Bo asked.
"We're not talking about that, we're talking about Ciara and about your responsibility to your daughter," she retorted.

Bo told Caroline that Hope took his daughter from him and ripped his family apart, "Hell, my own ma doesn't even see that Hope is the one who did this," Bo yelled. Caroline asked if Bo thought that let him off the hook. "Hope's wrong, and anything you do is justified? You tell that to Ciara. That should be a big comfort," she said. Bo said he was doing the best he could, and Caroline said that Ciara would really be hurt. Bo was frustrated that he and Hope hadn't been able to connect. He said they were having a hard time talking about anything. Caroline told Bo to think about what was best for Ciara, and the answer didn't have anything to do with Carly. Later, Bo looked for some markers for Ciara's picture, and he found a picture of him, Ciara, and Hope.

Vivian left a message for Melanie to go to the spa together. Hope overheard her and asked why Vivian was "so wrapped up in Melanie." Hope asked what was in it for Vivian. Hope surmised that Vivian was hoping that Melanie could help Vivian secure her place in Victor's life. Vivian wanted to be a member of the Kiriakis family, and she and Melanie would be the new girls in the family and needed to stick together. Vivian wondered why Hope was being "antagonistic" given that they had a common enemy in Carly. Hope suggested that Vivian was driven by the need for revenge. "Clearly I wouldn't be in this position if Lawrence were alive, if Carly hadn't killed him. I could have left well enough alone," Vivian said. Hope found that "interesting," and she asked, "What would you have left alone, Vivian?"

"I would think that's rather obvious, I would have left well enough alone if Carly hadn't killed Lawrence," Vivian said.
"So maybe you are back for revenge," Hope said. Vivian said that revenge was her original intention. She started to say that she was welcomed back into the family with open arms, and then she suddenly remembered that she was missing her hair appointment. Hope realized that Vivian hadn't changed at all and was still after Carly, but Hope wondered what that had to do with Melanie.

At the Brady Pub, Hope called Henderson to see if Vivian was home. When she heard that Vivian had left, Hope tried to rush out the door, but Justin stopped her. He had heard from Adrienne that Hope had called Adrienne to ask if Justin and Adrienne's marriage was over. He also found out that Hope had tried to convince Adrienne to give Justin another chance. "I'm a romantic," Hope said.

Justin said his marriage was over, and Hope's interference was just prolonging the "agony." Hope said she was in a hurry to leave. Justin told her that their conversation wasn't over, so Hope said she could use his help. Justin accompanied Hope back to the Kiriakis mansion to get to Vivian's puzzle box to find out Carly's secret. Justin theorized that Hope would benefit by slaying "Carly's dragon," because Carly wouldn't seem so appealing to Bo. Hope didn't have time to discuss it, she wanted to get to Vivian's room. Vivian returned sooner than Justin or Hope had estimated. Justin tried to stall to keep her from going upstairs while Hope sneaked downstairs. Justin asked Vivian to talk to Victor about him. She agreed, and Hope made it downstairs before she got caught. She snuck the puzzle box downstairs. Hope opened the box and found a paper. She read it and said to herself: "Damn you, Brady. Damn you."

2/2 At the hospital, when Carly appeared to agree to attend Melanie’s wedding, she excitedly jumped up and down and hugged Carly tightly. From across the hall, Bo watched Melanie hug Carly. Carly pulled away from Melanie and corrected her. Carly noted that she did not agree to attend the wedding. "If I could be sure that I didn't ruin the day for you and a whole lot of other people," Carly said. Determined, Melanie argued that she wanted Carly there and that was all that mattered. Carly promised to think about Melanie's offer. "Okay, but I invited you, so you still have to get me something," Melanie joked.

As Melanie walked away, Bo crept up beside Carly and said, "Good work, that staying away from Melanie thing." Startled, Carly jumped upon hearing Bo. Bo noted that Carly did not see him watching her talk to Melanie and that Carly needed to be more careful with Vivian lurking about. Bo cautioned Carly to stay away from Melanie, and Carly told Bo that Melanie had invited her to the wedding. Bo noted that on such an emotional day, Carly was likely to have difficulty hiding her emotions in front of Vivian and might tip Vivian off that Melanie was Carly's daughter.

Pouting, Carly explained to Bo that she told Melanie that she could not go to the wedding. "I'm running out of options to keep you and your daughter safe," Bo said. Worried, Bo ordered Carly to move back into his house so that he could protect her. "You're the only person in my life right now that I can just be with," Bo added. "You make me smile at a time when I don't smile very often," Bo said. Bo explained that he needed Carly and her support so that he could deal with his problems. "I thought my life was over and not just beginning," Carly said softly. Bo assured Carly that he wanted to move forward with her and get on with his life.

In the Kiriakis mansion, Hope struggled to open Vivian's puzzle box. After caressing the case for a moment, there was an audible click. Hoping to learn Carly's secret by reviewing the contents, Hope eagerly opened the box. Hope pulled out a piece of paper and read it. "Damn you, Brady," Hope muttered. When Justin asked what was written on the paper, Hope said, "Confirmation that my marriage to Bo is officially over." Hope explained that the box contained a letter from Lawrence cursing Carly for her infidelity as well as proof that Carly had a baby. "Carly Manning had a baby and Lawrence wanted it destroyed. So she killed him and ran. To Bo, to her baby's father," Hope said.

Justin warned Hope that the paper did not prove that Bo was the father of Carly's child. Fighting tears, Hope lashed out, noting that Bo's actions since Carly's return made sense if he was the child's father. "This is like history repeating itself all over again, only this time it's Carly and not Billie," Hope cried out in frustration. Shaking her head, Hope took a deep breath and noted that she was glad she was not working. "I made a wild assumption not warranted by the evidence," Hope said. Analyzing the situation, Hope argued that the child could not be Bo's because after all that happened with Chelsea, Bo would not keep such a secret from her.

"Bo should have trusted me with that secret, and he should have given me peace of mind to know everything that was going on. Can you imagine how different everything would have been if he had just been honest with me and open with me and just told me?" Hope said. Justin reminded Hope that by the time Carly arrived, she had already moved out of the house. Hope agreed that she had moved out, but she noted that the move was just intended to be a temporary solution. As Hope gathered the letter and medical records to put back in the puzzle box, she wondered aloud how difficult life must have been for Carly to live with Lawrence and be separated from her child. "Having a baby should be the most wonderful thing in the world. It made her life hell," Hope said sadly.

Bo carried Carly's suitcase back to his house and relieved the babysitter from watching Ciara. "Now I got to explain to my daughter just who this company is," Bo muttered to himself. Bo received a phone call from Abe, but the reception was so bad that Bo went out onto his front porch to better hear the call. While Bo was outside, someone crept into the living room from the kitchen.

At the Kiriakis mansion, Hope hurriedly returned the puzzle box to its hiding place in Vivian's room, and then she rushed downstairs to meet with Justin. Hope thanked Justin for his help and for being a "great friend." As Hope hugged Justin, Victor watched from a nearby doorway with a scowl on his face. Justin wished Hope well for her talk with Bo, and Hope ran out the front door.

"You don't listen very well do you?" Victor said as he entered the living room behind Justin. Victor advised Justin to stay away from Hope.

"How about you go threaten Bo? Because the fact that he is nailing Carly is a little bit more of an impediment to them getting back together than my trying to help Hope through all this," Justin barked. Justin admitted he was interested in Hope, but that he was not attempting to steal her away, since Bo and Hope's marriage was over. Angry, Victor argued that there were "big changes" on their way, and that Justin had better not get involved in Bo and Hope's reconciliation.

On the pier, Hope thought about when Bo had told her that Carly's secret did not involve Hope or their marriage. "Well it's not a secret anymore," Hope said aloud. Hope turned around and ran directly into Vivian. Vivian dropped her bag of supplies and she looked up guiltily at Hope.

Bo returned to his living room to find Carly's suitcase open and her belongings strewn about the room and cut up. Worried, Bo ran upstairs to check on Ciara.

2/3 When Hope accidentally bumped into Vivian on the pier, it sent Vivian's shopping bag flying. As Hope bent to pick it up, she noted Vivian's somewhat overprotective reaction. Vivian confessed that she didn't want anyone to see what was in the bag, because it was a surprise "something borrowed" gift for Melanie.

Vivian was excited about the wedding, especially because she had never had a daughter and Melanie had never had a mother. Hope realized that she'd never heard Melanie talk about her mother. Vivian divulged that Melanie's mother had died when Melanie was very young. As Vivian hurried away to attend to more wedding business, a suspicious Hope wondered aloud, "What in the hell are you up to, Vivian?"

Bo returned home and found Carly's clothing slashed to shreds and strewn about the living room. He immediately suspected that Vivian had done it, and, terrified, he ran through the house, shouting for Ciara. When Ciara ran out from the kitchen, he rushed to her, and scooped her up in relieved hug-then he spied the scissors in her hand. Bo sat his little girl down on the couch and explained that Carly was moving back in, but assured her that he and Hope would always listen if Ciara were upset or angry. He urged Ciara to give Carly a chance. "No," Ciara replied. "I hate her. I hate her!" Bo gently asked if Ciara had ruined Carly's clothes. The girl nodded, but refused to discuss it further, and stomped upstairs to her room.

Hope was stunned when she arrived and saw Carly's mangled clothing and was horrified when Bo informed her that Ciara had done it. But the news that Bo had asked Carly to move back in without first telling Ciara infuriated Hope, and she heatedly reminded Bo of everything their daughter had been through. "How could you do it?" she demanded in disbelief.

Hope suspected that Ciara's acting out was a cry for attention. After assuring her that they both wanted the same thing, Bo cautioned her not to use Ciara as leverage against Carly. Hope agreed with Bo that they shouldn't reward Ciara for her bad behavior-but after he'd moved a murderer into his house, Hope didn't think their daughter should visit Bo there anymore. Biting back his anger, Bo reminded Hope that they had agreed he could see Ciara whenever he wanted. Carly arrived, but hung back before entering, and heard Hope say, "That was then; this is now. With the way things are now, the choices that you're making..." She paused, then concluded, shakily but firmly, "I'm not sure that you should see your daughter anymore."

2/4 Bo couldn't believe that Hope wanted to keep Ciara away from him. Carly had overheard their conversation, burst into the room, and demanded to know why Hope would take Ciara away from Bo. Hope asked Carly why she thought that Hope was doing it. Hope thought that Ciara had been through enough trauma, especially after the kidnapping. Hope accused Bo of being selfish. Carly thought that Hope was being unfair. She told Hope not to take her anger out on Ciara. Bo said that Ciara would never have done something like cutting up Carly's clothes before. "Before what?" Hope asked. She realized that Bo thought that Hope had badmouthed Carly to Ciara. Hope denied it. Ciara heard them fighting and asked them to stop.

Hope tried to downplay her argument with Bo to Ciara. Hope said that she and Ciara had to leave, and Ciara assumed it was because Bo was mad at her, but Bo said that he could never be mad at her. Bo was fuming after Ciara and Hope left. He couldn't understand why Hope was trying to keep him from seeing his daughter. Carly felt guilty and started to pack. Bo said that he didn't want Carly to leave, because he had lost enough and he wasn't about to lose Carly too. Carly decided to stay, and Bo thanked her. Carly decided not to go to Melanie's wedding, because it would be too risky.

Hope took Ciara to the Java Café where they saw Justin. Hope watched Justin bond with Ciara and thought to herself about how wrong the situation was.

2/9 At the Kiriakis mansion, Carly walked up to the front door and mumbled to herself, "All right, Melanie, this is it. Since Vivian knows, all bets are off. You're gonna hear the truth from me." Carly continued to knock on the front door, but no one answered. Carly took a step back, slipped on a patch of ice, fell, and hit her head on the pavement. On the ground, an unconscious Carly murmured Melanie's name.

Inside the mansion, Victor looked around the foyer for the morning paper. With no paper in sight, Victor opened the front door to find Carly unconscious on the porch outside. Victor stepped over Carly and grabbed the paper from the porch, then headed back inside. When Henderson informed Victor that his breakfast was ready, Victor countered, "There does seem to be an accumulation of trash by the front door." Victor suggested that Henderson call an ambulance.

At the police station, Hope stopped by looking for Bo. When one of the officers asked Hope when she would return to the force, Abe overheard and echoed the sentiment. "I do want to get back to work," Hope said to Abe. Hope begged Abe to put her back to work immediately in order to provide a routine and a structure to her life. "Is there any chance that you and Bo could work this..." Abe started, before noticing the discomfort on Hope's face. "Bo made his choice. For both of us. He's with Carly now," Hope explained. Hope informed Abe that Bo was in love with Carly and that she had moved into the house.

"I don't think that Bo would have asked her to move in if it was just a little crush," Hope concluded. Abe advised Hope to keep Ciara in mind before she made any more decisions about her marriage. Hope gently asked Abe not to lecture her. Noting the sadness on Hope's face, Abe quietly informed Hope that Theo had difficulty when Abe was fighting with Lexie and that Theo was only able to make progress when Abe and Lexie had settled their differences. As Hope pondered what Abe said, an officer arrived with Hope's badge and her weapon. Abe welcomed Hope back to duty.

While Hope was finishing up some paperwork at the police station, Kate approached her and asked for help. Kate explained that Vivian had "become obsessed with Melanie." Kate told Hope about how Vivian had reacted strangely when Kate had given Vivian's gift to Melanie. Kate then added that she had overheard Vivian talk to a man about Melanie and that her tone of voice suggested that she was plotting something.

When Hope asked whether Vivian would hurt Melanie, Kate countered, "I don't think it. I know it." Kate begged Hope to help her stop Vivian. Hope asked Kate whether she had discussed her fears with Victor or Philip, and Kate admitted that although she had warned them, they would not listen to her. Kate explained that Philip and Victor said they believed that Vivian had changed. "Philip loves Melanie, and if anything should happen to her..." Kate said. Hope assured Kate that she would investigate.

Bo waited at the Brady Pub for Carly but, growing impatient, Bo headed over to the hospital to see if she was working a shift. Lexie greeted Bo and informed him that Carly was at the hospital, but that she was there as a patient. Lexie told Bo that Carly had fallen and hit her head, and then Lexie took Bo into Carly's hospital room. Carly told Bo that she was on her way to talk to Melanie when she fell and hit her head. Carly insisted that she needed to tell her daughter the truth. Bo warned Carly not to act rashly. Confused from her head injury, Carly wondered aloud what she was going to tell Melanie. "I have to remember," Carly lamented. After receiving a call from the police station, Bo left to get back to work. Daniel examined Carly and informed her that she would have to stay overnight for observation. Carly asked Daniel where the paramedics had found her, and he noted that she was picked up outside of the Kiriakis mansion. "What was I doing there?" Carly wondered aloud.

2/10 At the police station, Hope left a voicemail asking Bo to call her back and quickly clarified that it was about a work related issue. Remembering her encounter with Vivian on the pier, Hope pondered what Vivian was up to. "What was in that bag? And why Melanie?" she mused.

When they met at the Brady Pub later, Hope told Justin about how Vivian had freaked out when Kate nearly saw Melanie's wedding gift-and Vivian had reacted the same way when Hope had almost seen it. Seeing Justin's confused reaction, Hope hinted that Melanie was the right age. "Melanie is Carly's daughter?" Justin asked in disbelief. Nodding, Hope added, "And Vivian knows it."

Hope then noted that Melanie's father, Trent Robbins, was a vile, dangerous man, and despite her dislike of Carly, Hope couldn't picture Carly with Trent. "But you still think that Melanie is Carly's daughter?" asked Justin. "She could be," Hope replied. Ciara suddenly appeared at the table, and confirmed, "Yes, she is."

Hope gently asked Ciara, "So Carly told Daddy that she's Melanie's mommy?" The girl nodded, and then returned to play with her grandma in the kitchen. Justin and Hope concurred that, based on what they knew, they had to get to Melanie before Vivian did. Hope realized that since she was back on the police force, she had to handle Vivian with caution. She asked Justin to take Ciara home while Hope looked into something. Justin agreed, but urged Hope to be careful.

When Victor arrived at the Brady Pub, Hope was surprised that he wasn't at home, getting ready for the wedding. Victor complained that the house was full of chatter, which he hated. Hope pointed out that he'd invited Vivian to live with him. "Yes, well, it seemed like a good idea at the time," Victor groused. Hope then asked pointedly, "Victor, is there something you'd possibly like to tell me about Vivian?"

In the hallway, Gus shared that Dr. Manning was in the hospital and to be kept overnight for observation. Vivian only fretted that something would go wrong with her plan to kill Melanie, which was for the bride to collapse from the slow-acting poison in front of all the wedding guests. Gus reassured her that he would take care of Dr. Manning, and urged "Madame" to remain strong. "I have to be for Lawrence," Vivian replied.

As Carly opened the door to leave her hospital room, Gus was blocking the doorway. Carly dove across the bed for the phone. Gus grabbed her with one hand, and with the other, covered her mouth and nose with a cloth doused in chloroform, until she lost consciousness. Carly moaned in pain as she awoke on a hard floor next to some crates. She looked around the unfamiliar basement until her eyes fell on Gus.

2/11 Hope asked Victor about Vivian, and he said that Vivian was always up to something, because she craved attention. Hope accused Victor of having fun at Kate's expense by making Kate share Philip with Vivian. Hope asked what Victor would do if Vivian hurt Philip by hurting Melanie. Victor asked what Melanie had to do with the situation, and then he realized that Hope had bought into Kate's conspiracy theory. Hope reminded him of what Vivian had done in the past. Victor assured Hope that Vivian lived under his roof, and whatever went on under his roof was under his control. "Vivian is not going to hurt Melanie. Trust me, just not going to happen," he said.

Hope asked if Victor planned to ensure Melanie's safety by remote control and pointed out that he wasn't at his house. Hope asked if Victor was worried about the gift that Vivian didn't want anyone to know about. He said that he had seen the gift, and Melanie would love it. He assured Hope that Melanie would be fine. After Victor left, Hope realized that he had forgotten his bag. Hope looked through the bag and read a piece of paper. She made a phone call and then said to herself, "Well Bo, your father's at it again."

Vivian received a text message telling her that Carly was awake. "The fun begins," Vivian said. Carly asked why Gus had kidnapped her, and he showed Vivian on webcam, saying, "Welcome to my hideaway." Vivian said that she would savor a moment she'd been waiting for since she had heard what Carly did to Lawrence. Carly assumed that Vivian had sent Gus to kill Carly, but Vivian said that Carly wasn't going to be killed. Vivian pointed out that Carly didn't kill Vivian, she killed someone that Vivian loved. Vivian confirmed that she planned to kill Melanie on her wedding day. Vivian put the poisoned tiara on Melanie's head, and showed Carly by webcam. Melanie started feeling sick, and Vivian was surprised at how quickly the poison was affecting her. Vivian told Melanie to pull herself together and go get married. Melanie said that she was feeling better, so she asked Vivian to go downstairs and make sure that everything was running smoothly.

Carly told Gus that he wouldn't get away with it, because she had left messages all over town, so he wouldn't get away with it. Gus said that Carly's "baby girl" was "going down" and there was nothing that Carly could do about it. When he turned his back, Carly found a brick and hit him over the head with it. Vivian received another text message saying that there was trouble with Carly and asking for Vivian to come quick. Carly had texted the message to Vivian. Then she texted Bo to tell him her whereabouts and that Vivian was on her way. When Vivian arrived, Carly said that Gus was "tied up at the moment” as he lay unconscious on the floor. Carly said that Bo was on his way. Vivian said that Melanie would die within a half hour.

Looking for Bo, Hope went to the police station. An officer said that Bo wasn't back from the stakeout but had left his cell phone behind. She grabbed it and noticed a text from Carly.

2/12 Vivian showed Carly a photo of Melanie with the comb and informs Carly that the teeth have been poisoned and it is untraceable and quite lethal. Vivian estimates that the first wave of the poison will hit Melanie as she gets half way down the aisle and there is nothing anyone can do to stop it. After figuring out where they were, Hope burst in to tell Vivian she was wrong. Hope revealed that Victor figured out Vivian's plan and switched the poisoned comb with another. Vivian panicked. Gus shouted for her make a run for it, and knocked crates over on top of Hope and Carly. With Carly trapped and Hope knocked unconscious by the crates Gus toppled, Vivian headed for the wedding to kill Melanie. Carly freed herself, then took Hope's gun and chased after Vivian. Daniel found Bo at the hospital and told him Carly was missing. Bo found a message from Carly on his cell phone to meet her at the basement.

2/16 In the cannery basement, Bo found Hope underneath a pile of boxes, unconscious. Bo frantically pulled the boxes off of Hope and cradled her in his arms. With the sounds of the ambulance sirens in the air, Bo picked up Hope and carried her outside to meet the paramedics. The paramedics rushed Hope to the hospital and the doctors informed Bo that Hope was unconscious, but she would likely make a full recovery.

Bo visited Hope in her hospital room and pleaded with her to wake up. Groggy, Hope slowly came to as she heard her husband's voice talking to her. When Bo asked what happened, Hope said, "Carly." Bo noted that he was supposed to meet Carly in the basement but that he did not see her there. In pain, Hope closed her eyes again. Fighting to stay awake, Hope called out to Bo as a doctor injected pain medication into Hope's IV.

On top of the Kiriakis mansion, Vivian grabbed a nearby metal pipe and raised it above Melanie's head. Terrified, Carly pulled a gun out of her purse and aimed it at Vivian. Vivian declared that Carly was too late to stop her. "No!" cried Melanie as she jumped in front of Vivian as the gun fired. Shot, Melanie crumpled to the floor while a devastated Carly screamed in horror. Carly rushed to her daughter's side and pleaded with her to wake up.

"Thank you, Carly. You've done my work for me," Vivian noted calmly. Vivian dropped the pipe she was holding over the edge of the roof, as Carly cried next to Melanie. As Philip asked Carly why she shot Melanie, Vivian piped up and reminded Philip that Carly said that Melanie was her daughter. "I'm her mother and I have to help her, please! Let me hold my child!" Carly screamed as she fought against Brady, and reached out toward Melanie.

2/17 In Hope's room, a doctor told Bo that Hope should make a full recovery. As the doctor left, Maxine entered with a bag of medication for Hope's IV. Clearly shaken, Maxine sadly informed Bo that an injured Melanie Layton had just arrived in the emergency room, and had been taken into surgery. "Lord in heaven, who would want to kill that wonderfully spirited child?" Maxine wondered with a sigh. Bo's face grew grim. "Vivian," he said to himself.

Bo left Hope's room, found Carly, and asked her what had happened. Carly wanted to know if Hope was all right, and Bo quickly explained to Abe that Hope had been admitted. When Carly spotted Vivian arriving with Victor, she went ballistic. "How dare you show your face here?" Carly hissed at Vivian. "I will kill you. I will kill you!"

Justin crept quietly into Hope's room and sat next to the bed. Taking her hand, he whispered, "Hope?" Hope stirred slightly. "I love you, Bo," she murmured.

After keeping Carly from attacking Vivian, Bo promised her that Vivian would pay for what she'd done to Melanie. "Vivian didn't shoot Melanie-Carly did," Victor corrected sternly. Bo was stunned-and even more taken aback to learn that Carly had told everyone that she was Melanie's mother. "Oh, that was an interesting little tidbit," Vivian interjected smugly. "Carly had a child, gave her up, and then tried to murder her."

Although Bo tried to urge Carly not to say another word without a lawyer, she insisted that she had only been trying to save her daughter from Vivian. "It was Vivian I was aiming at!" Carly shouted, to Bo's dismay. "She was the one I meant to kill!"

2/18 At the hospital, Vivian ordered the police to arrest Carly for shooting Melanie even though Carly meant to shoot Vivian. Carly said that Vivian was going to hit Melanie with a steel rod, and Vivian denied it. Vivian said that she and Melanie were talking about the cities that Melanie was going to visit on her honeymoon. Vivian asked Abe to have Carly arrested, and Abe told Bo that if Bo didn't arrest Carly, Abe would find someone who would. Carly told Bo that she wanted to assist Daniel in the operating room. Philip overheard her and said that Carly would never go anywhere near Melanie again. He said that Carly needed to be arrested. Bo told Carly that she couldn't operate on her own daughter. Carly said she knew that, but she still wanted to help.

Lexie met with everyone in the hallway to give an update. Philip asked how Melanie was and whether Melanie was out of surgery. When Lexie didn't answer right away, Carly assumed the worst. Lexie explained that Melanie "coded" on the table, and Daniel and everyone else were doing everything they could to revive her. Melanie was hooked up to a cardiopulmonary machine. Lexie said that Melanie was strong and a fighter. Carly volunteered to donate blood to Melanie. Bo asked Philip to let Carly help, so Philip agreed. Bo asked Abe to make sure that Vivian didn't leave. Bo tried to reason with Carly and convince her that it wasn't her fault for returning to Salem. Carly blamed herself for Melanie being shot because of her selfish need to have Melanie back in Carly's life, but Bo said that Carly couldn't have left it alone, because Vivian was going to kill Melanie. Bo said that when Melanie woke up and found out what Carly did to save her, Melanie would be grateful and happy to have her mother in Salem.

Victor asked Bo to escort Carly out of the hospital, because Carly had shot Victor's daughter-in-law and Philip didn't want Carly around. Carly begged Abe to let her stay until Melanie was out of surgery. Abe asked Bo if he wanted Abe to have another officer arrest Carly. Bo decided to do the honors himself, and he handcuffed Carly and read her rights to her.

At the police station, Bo tried to question Vivian, but she refused to cooperate. He told her to pray that Hope would back up Carly's story, and he suggested that Vivian pray that Melanie would survive. Vivian said she would pray. Bo received word that there was no evidence of poison left behind on the comb that Vivian had given Melanie and not in the basement either. Bo told Vivian that she was free to go. Bo told her not to get too comfortable. "Don't you, either, now that you've let the black widow into your house. Now if two bodies won't convince you, you know, the third's a charm," Vivian said

Carly imagined Lawrence applauding her for possibly killing Melanie with one bullet. Lawrence told Carly that she killed him to protect Melanie and "look where it's gotten you." He advised her that next time she wanted to protect the ones she loved, she should turn the gun on herself. Bo took the handcuffs off of Carly and prepared to take her to her cell. Carly said that if Melanie died, she hoped the judge would give Carly the death sentence, because she couldn't live with herself.

Bo said that no matter what happened, he would remind Carly that everything that Carly did was to protect her daughter. He predicted that when Melanie recovered, things would be "very different for her, because she's finally gonna know a mother's love." Carly prayed for Melanie to know that Carly loved her and always had since Melanie was born.

2/19 Bo was in his office at the police station, on the phone with Lexie, when a uniformed officer led Carly in. Carly heard Bo say Lexie's name and grabbed for the phone, but the cop stopped her somewhat forcefully and made her sit down. After the officer left them alone, Carly anxiously asked about Melanie. "She made it through the night," Bo tried to reassure Carly, but she immediately knew that meant Melanie was still comatose. Before Carly could verbally berate herself further, Bo ordered her to stop. "Do not let Vivian and Lawrence win," he said firmly. "Vivian will pay for what she did to your daughter. I'll make sure of that." Upon seeing how distraught Carly was from spending the night in a crowded holding cell with no news about Melanie, Bo excused himself to take care of something.

When he returned, Bo informed Carly that he'd posted her bail. She was angry at first, because she knew he didn't really have the money, but he wouldn't even hear her argument. Bo then told her that according to the terms of her bail, Carly could not get within twenty feet of Melanie. He got a page summoning him to a conference call, which he hoped would prove that Vivian knew Melanie was Carly's daughter, and told Carly to wait there until he returned. Carly agreed, but the instant the door closed behind Bo, she sneaked out.

Justin sat by Hope's hospital bed, while she mumbled in her sleep, "Stop her." Justin reassured her, "It's all over," but she mistook him for Bo. Once she was fully awake, Hope moaned that her head hurt, and began peppering Justin with questions. He answered them patiently, and then reluctantly told her that Carly had shot Melanie. Despite her obvious pain, Hope immediately tried to get out of bed to look for Bo, but Justin stopped her. With details Justin provided about the wedding, Hope deduced that Victor had switched Melanie's poisoned comb with another-which meant that Vivian really had been trying to avenge Lawrence's death by killing Carly's daughter. "And I've got to make sure she doesn't get away with it," Hope declared. Although Justin protested, Hope got dressed, and vowed that Vivian would regret returning to Salem. She grabbed her bag and rushed out, and Justin hurried after her.

Bo was irked when he returned to his office and found Carly gone, and he had just finished leaving a message for Carly when Hope walked in. He tried to order Hope to return to the hospital, but she cut him off impatiently. "Just listen to me, I know what Vivian was trying to do," she declared. "I'm the one person who can help Carly get out of this mess." Hope quickly filled Bo in. Both of them were appalled that Victor had known what Vivian was up to, although Bo guessed that his father had intended to "neutralize" Vivian before she could hurt Melanie. When Hope mentioned Carly's bail, Bo reluctantly informed her that he'd posted it, because he knew Carly was innocent.

"I don't think that's it," Hope said skeptically, and her voice broke as she added, "I think it's because you love her." Bo didn't answer. Hope stated that after he'd rescued her from the basement, she had hoped things would change for the two of them. "But it's too late, isn't it?" she asked tearfully, her voice barely a whisper, and when Bo still said nothing, she walked out of his office. As the door slammed behind her, a miserable Bo muttered, "Damn it."

2/22 Bo called Victor down to the PD for questioning. Bo told Victor that Hope remembered her conversation with Victor on Melanie's wedding day and the receipt that Victor left behind for a comb to switch with the poisoned one that Vivian was planning to use to kill Melanie. Bo said he had evidence against Victor that would send Victor to prison for helping Vivian. Victor called Bo's bluff, and he reminded Bo that Melanie was fighting for her life because Bo's "slut girlfriend shot her." Victor said that Carly would finally pay for what Carly did.

Abe reminded Bo that he didn't have any evidence against Victor. Bo was angry that Victor was treating it like a game. Abe pointed out that the case involved Bo's mistress and Bo had issues with Victor, Bo's father as well. Bo said just because the case was personal didn't mean he couldn't do his job. Abe told Bo to tell Carly to stay away from Melanie and Vivian. Bo tried to reach Carly by phone at home, but she didn't answer. Abe reminded him that because he posted Carly's bail, that Carly's actions were Bo's responsibility. Bo tried to reach Carly again, but to no avail. He hoped that she didn't go to the hospital to see Melanie.

2/23 At the police station, Bo ordered his men to search the Kiriakis mansion for the poisoned comb as Vivian sidled up behind him. When Bo spotted Vivian, he commented, "Let me guess how you plan to assist [the investigation]. I turn my back and you plant evidence saying Carly meant to kill her daughter." Vivian laughed off the accusation, but Bo argued that Vivian was planning to kill Melanie and that he would prove it. Vivian argued that she was scared that Carly would attempt to murder her. "I intend to testify at her bail hearing," Vivian said firmly. When Vivian pretended to call the judge handling the case, Bo called her bluff and noted that Carly already had her bail hearing and was released. Bo received a call from Daniel telling him that Melanie was awake and that Carly was there at the hospital. When Bo learned that Philip knew that Carly had seen Melanie, Bo rushed out the door.

Down on the pier, Carly apologized to Bo for betraying his trust and going to visit Melanie in the hospital. Carly explained that she visited Melanie in order to convince her that she did not mean to shoot her. "If I don't find a way to make this wretched situation right, I won't be able to live with myself," Carly exclaimed. Carly explained that after the horrible childhood Melanie suffered through, she did not want to see Vivian take away all her happiness. Carly continued that in an effort to explain to Melanie that the shooting was an accident, she was worried that she had made Melanie hate her more than she already did. "I had no intention of telling her that she was my daughter," Carly said. As Carly worried aloud whether she could mend fences with Melanie, Philip called her cell phone. Philip told Carly that Melanie wanted to see her at the hospital right away.

2/24 While Hope was working at the police station, a reporter called to ask for comment about the Sydney DiMera case, and something the reporter said upset Hope greatly.

Carly and Bo were on the pier when Philip called to tell Carly that Melanie wanted to see her right away. Carly agreed, but Bo reminded her that it would violate the terms of her bail to visit Melanie. Carly was determined, so Bo reluctantly decided to accompany her to the hospital.

As Bo was waiting outside Melanie's room, Hope rushed in to tell him what she'd learned from the reporter: clothing with Sydney's blood on it had been found in the Salem River. The news was as upsetting to Bo as it was to Hope. As they remembered that the same thing could have happened to Ciara, Bo pulled his wife into an embrace. Hope suggested that the two of them have dinner with Ciara that night. When Bo hedged, Hope quickly realized that he was waiting while Carly visited Melanie. An incredulous Hope pointed out that he could go to jail for helping Carly break the law. "You've been playing hero to her ever since she came back to Salem," Hope asserted. "You've sacrificed everything, everyone. I hope to hell she's worth it," she declared before storming out.

When Philip emerged from Melanie's room, Bo asked how he was holding up. "I'm mad as hell, Bo," Philip replied. "I'm mad at Vivian, I'm mad at Carly and I‘m mad at you." Philip explained hotly that it was because Bo had known Carly was Melanie's mother, but hadn't told anyone. Bo countered that they couldn't risk Vivian finding out and going after Melanie.

Hope went to the Kiriakis mansion to question Victor about Vivian, and repeated her assertions that he had replaced the poisoned comb with which Vivian had tried to kill Melanie. Victor recommended that Hope concentrate on Carly instead, but Hope contended that she could attest that Carly really had feared for Melanie's life. Victor countered that if Hope just dropped her pursuit of the case against Vivian, Carly would soon be out of all of their lives and out of Bo's bed. Hope argued that she couldn't let an innocent woman go to prison just to save her marriage.

Philip vowed to protect Melanie from that point forward, but Bo insisted on putting a guard outside Melanie's door to protect her from Vivian. Bo wanted to get an official statement from Philip about the shooting. Philip irritably retorted, "You're not going to use me to help the woman you're sleeping with get off scot-free." He wanted to know why Bo was so blind where Carly was concerned. Hope returned just in time to overhear, and asserted, "Because he's in love with her, Philip; that's why." 2/25 At the hospital, Philip thought that Bo was "blind" when it came to Carly. Hope said it was because he was in love with Carly, and she asked Bo to confirm it. Bo didn't think it was the time, but Hope insisted that he answer the question. Bo said he did love Carly. Carly had left Melanie's room and was standing behind him when he admitted his love for Carly. Carly called Bo's name. Carly told Bo that she needed to tell Melanie's father about their daughter before she told Melanie. Bo turned his attention towards Hope, but officer who was assigned to guard Melanie's room interrupted him. Bo started to say something to Hope but changed his mind and walked away. She followed him.

Back at the police station, Bo put out an APB on Gus. Hope told Bo that she was back on the force and had some information and might be Bo's best and only chance for saving Carly. Hope went over the evidence that would help Carly's case. Hope thought that Bo was surprised that she was willing to help Carly. Bo commended Hope on her police work and for not letting someone take the fall for something they didn't do. Bo got a phone call. He told Hope that she might get her chance to help Carly and possibly convict Vivian.

2/26 At the police station, Bo informed Hope that they'd picked up Gus, Vivian's henchman, and wanted Hope to try to identify his voice from a lineup. Hope was worried that having to rely on her memory might not get them any closer to stopping Vivian. "There are other ways," Bo pointed out with a sly smile. When Gus arrived at the station, he was alarmed to see Hope. Hope cheerfully told him that she knew everything that he had done and she had just given a statement to the D.A. about how Gus had tried to kill her. "But that's impossible!" Gus protested. Bo cautioned that unless Gus gave up Vivian, he was going to prison. Gus inadvertently blurted that the last time he'd seen Vivian, she had been headed home to get her gloves. He then refused to say more without a lawyer.

Bo and Hope immediately left the interrogation room and checked in with Jenkins, the cop guarding Melanie's room. When Jenkins admitted that he'd stepped away for a few minutes, Hope and Bo charged out of the station. When Bo and Hope arrived, Philip was angrily interrogating Vivian while a doctor checked on Melanie. Vivian insisted to everyone that she had only wanted to check on Melanie. The doctor informed Philip that Melanie's vital signs hadn't changed, and left after urging the group not to tire Melanie out.

Once Melanie opened her eyes, Bo asked if Vivian had hurt her. "Vivian? I had a dream about Vivian," Melanie replied groggily. "I think it was Vivian... I don't really care; I just want to go back to sleep." Vivian asked if she were free to leave, and Bo consented, but ordered her never to return to Melanie's room. Vivian tried to reassure Philip that she only wanted the best for his beautiful bride. Bo, Hope, and Jenkins followed Vivian out. Bo gave Jenkins a dressing-down for leaving his post, and ordered him not to leave it again. Carly called Bo just then and asked if he could meet her at the pub. After Bo hung up, he explained to Hope that he would rather tell Carly face to face about what had happened with Vivian and Melanie.

When Bo met Carly in front of the Brady Pub, she rushed into his arms. She confided that Daniel was furious, and he didn't understand why she'd kept their daughter a secret from him. "All I wanted to do was protect them," Carly insisted. "And I swear to you, I think I've lost them forever." Bo urged her to give Daniel and Melanie some time, and wrapped his arms around Carly again.

3/4 Bo told Carly that Vivian had snuck into Melanie's room, but Melanie was sedated when Vivian got there and Philip caught Vivian in the room. Bo assured Carly that the matter was being handled, but Carly said that the only one who could handle Vivian was Carly. Bo told her to leave Vivian to him. Carly said that Vivian didn't really want to hurt Melanie, she wanted to hurt Carly. Carly said she planned to plead guilty and wanted to spend the rest of her life behind bars. Bo said that Carly would be found innocent in court, because they would prove that the shooting was accidental and only happened because she was trying to protect her daughter from a "crazy woman." Carly didn't want Melanie to know that Carly's fate was in Melanie's hands. Bo said it wasn't up to Carly, because they were handling it his way. Carly forbade Bo to bother Melanie about it. He asked what would happen if he did it anyway, and Carly said she would be "really, really mad" at him, which would probably be the best thing that happened to him.

Bo said he had to interview any material witnesses, and he assured Carly that he was just going to ask Melanie what happened. Carly planned to tell Melanie not to cooperate. Bo said that if she did that, she would be obstructing justice, and he would send Carly "up the river." Carly said that if there were any justice, Melanie wouldn't have been given a mother who did nothing but hurt her. Bo said that as a responsible parent, hurting kids went with the territory. Carly said she hadn't just hurt Melanie; she'd hurt Daniel as well. Bo reminded her that Daniel got Carly pregnant, and she dealt with it the best way she knew how. Carly felt like she was a curse for Daniel, like she was to Lawrence and to Bo. Bo pointed out that if she had let Lawrence live, he could have killed Melanie or Carly when he was in one of his rages. Carly said that she cursed Bo, too, but Bo told her not to worry about him, because Bo had not been hurt

Carly asked if that was why his face looked the way it did after he would hang up from talking to Hope or Ciara or when he would walk around in the middle of the night because he couldn't sleep. Bo said that what happened between Hope and Bo was between the two of them. Carly said that his decision to keep Carly's secret made things worse for Bo and Hope. Carly felt he would be better off if Carly left Salem forever. Bo could relate to what Carly was going through because of when he'd lost Zack. He said Melanie needed Carly, but Carly felt that she didn't deserve to be a mother to Melanie. Bo used reverse psychology on Carly and said he would go along with her plan and then her daughter would miss out on a future with Carly and so would Bo. Bo predicted that Carly would put the ordeal behind her some day and would have Melanie in her life. He asked if that was worth fighting for.

Victor asked Vivian why she defied him, and he demanded the truth. She confessed to trying to smother Melanie with a pillow. Vivian said that she didn't go through with it because she realized that hurting an innocent girl wasn't the answer. Vivian said that Carly was the target and would receive "poetic justice." Victor said that she broke her promise to him twice that she wouldn't hurt Melanie. "I didn't, technically," Vivian said. Victor asked if Vivian had noticed a car parked across the street. He said that was someone Bo had hired, and Bo wanted Victor to help Bo put Vivian behind bars.

"I would become father of the year for helping Bo, and you would move into a big house with a lot of scary, horny women," Victor said. Vivian tried to excuse her behavior and said that she thought that hurting Carly's daughter was what Lawrence wanted, but Vivian was back to her old self. "That should be very reassuring to me," Victor said. Vivian said she was no longer a threat to Melanie, and she swore on Lawrence's life. "What life? Lawrence is as dead as Vaudeville," Victor said. Vivian swore on her life that if anything happened to Melanie, Vivian would be struck dead. Vivian insisted that she'd had a change of heart.

Bo asked Daniel for permission to take Melanie's statement, but Daniel wouldn't allow it because she wasn't in a good condition to be grilled. Bo said that he knew Melanie was up for visitors, but Daniel insisted she wasn't. Daniel said that he knew that Bo and Carly knew that Daniel was Melanie's father. Daniel asked why Bo didn't have the decency to tell Daniel. Bo said it wasn't his place to tell Daniel. Daniel said it was Carly's place. Bo started to say that Carly was trying to tell Daniel, but Daniel threatened to punch Bo if he said that Carly tried to tell Daniel about Melanie. Daniel pointed out that Carly had been ineffective at protecting Melanie up to that point. Daniel felt that Carly had worked him. Daniel said Bo would regret being Carly's "wing man." Bo said Daniel had a reason to be upset with Carly, but that was no reason to prevent Bo from asking Melanie a few simple questions.

Bo asked to speak with Melanie alone. He tried to defend Carly to Melanie. Bo told Melanie that Trent, the man who had raised Melanie, wasn't as evil as Lawrence. He told her that Carly's ex-husband had killed a good friend of Bo's and raped Hope's cousin. Melanie said that Bo and Carly were a "match made in heaven." Bo said that Carly and Melanie were smart women who had made some mistakes. Bo said that Melanie could have something she thought she would never have, a mother who loved her and would do anything for her. Melanie asked why Bo was telling her that. Bo said that she would have to get used to Bo giving Melanie advice, and he asked Melanie to give Carly another chance. Philip walked in on Bo trying to give advice to Melanie. Philip was irate. Melanie said to take it easy on Bo. Bo interviewed Melanie about getting shot. Melanie said that Carly pointed the gun right at Melanie and intended to kill her and Melanie didn't know why.

3/5 Justin found Hope sitting glumly by herself at the Java Café. Hope admitted that her sour mood was partly because she was not looking forward to returning to the Kiriakis mansion and seeing Vivian. "I lost him, Justin," she added sadly. "I lost Bo, and I don't want it to be true." Justin wasn't convinced, because he believed that Bo and Carly's relationship wasn't necessarily permanent. Hope conceded that she still loved Bo but she wasn't sure if she wanted him back, because she couldn't believe he had moved on so easily after their 25 years together. Justin sympathized, but Hope reminded him that while Bo had loved other women, she had only ever loved one man: Bo. "How do I move on from that?" she wondered.

At the hospital, Bo questioned Melanie about the shooting. Philip tried to discourage his brother, but Melanie insisted that she wanted to get it over with. "Carly looked at me, and she shot me," Melanie attested. "Case closed." Bo accused her of lying, which infuriated Philip. Melanie stuck to her story, and reminded them that she was familiar with Bo's strong-arm tactics from when he'd investigated Trent's murder. She believed that the only reason Bo wanted her to say that Vivian was trying to hurt her was to exonerate Carly, the woman he was sleeping with.

After Philip left the room, Bo urged Melanie to reconsider. "As long as you're alive, your life is in danger," he asserted. "If I were you, I'd be scared." Although Melanie refused to believe that Vivian was really out to get her, Bo stressed that he couldn't protect Melanie once she left the hospital. Daniel walked in just then, and Melanie asked him to get Bo out of her room. Bo agreed to leave, but first privately emphasized to Daniel that someone had to get through to Melanie.

When Hope found Philip in the waiting area, he was still peeved about Bo questioning Melanie. Hope firmly reminded him that Bo was a good cop who was trying to keep Philip's wife alive for which Philip should be grateful. Philip argued that it just seemed like everyone was pushing at Melanie, so he intended to stand by her, no matter what she told Bo. Bo entered just in time to overhear, and asserted that Philip would be making a mistake if he did, because Melanie was lying. Philip retorted, "I'm just doing what I think is best for my wife. You should try it sometime." He stormed out.

Bo admitted to Hope that it hadn't gone well with Melanie, who was hurt and angry and didn't think Bo could be objective. Hope needled Bo a little, but assured him that she knew he would never manipulate a witness to clear someone else. She then suggested, "What if we had someone interview Melanie who actually has a shot at gaining her trust? Like someone who clearly isn't lobbying for Carly?" Bo asked if Hope meant she would take over the interview. "I thought you'd never ask," she replied.

3/12 When Victor arrived on the pier, Carly crossly ordered him to keep Vivian away from Melanie. Victor needled Carly about the number of men she'd slept with. Carly chuckled her agreement. "I slept with everybody well, except you, even though we were married," she reminded him derisively, adding, "I have my standards." Victor and Vivian each got in one last disparaging crack at Carly before they left. Carly then dialed Bo to tell him that she planned to plead guilty to shooting Melanie.

3/15 Carly was determined to go to jail for shooting Melanie even though Bo was adamant about her letting him help her stay out of jail. Bo told Carly that Hope planned to visit Melanie and urge her to tell the truth about Melanie's shooting. Carly found it hard to believe that Hope would help her, but Bo insisted that Hope was just trying to do the right thing. He understood Carly's cynicism. Carly said that no matter how much Hope resented Carly, Hope had a good heart and was a person of integrity. Carly realized that was why Bo loved Hope so much. Bo said he thought that Carly understood. Carly started to take back what she'd said, adding that of course Bo loved Hope, because they had kids. Bo kissed Carly and told her that he had a history with Hope, but things changed and people outgrew each other. He said what he and Carly had felt right. Carly agreed.

Hope paid Melanie a visit. Melanie figured that Hope was there to talk about the shooting, but Hope said she was there as a friend, then corrected herself and said she was there as an officer of the law. When Hope mentioned Carly as Melanie's mother, Melanie told her not to make a serious decision without knowing all the facts. Melanie said that Carly wasn't her mother, and she wondered why Hope was defending Carly. "Has it slipped your mind that she's sleeping with your husband?" Melanie asked. Hope told Melanie that they weren't talking about Hope, they were talking about Melanie doing the right thing. Hope said that Melanie had to know that Carly wouldn't intentionally hurt Melanie. Melanie said that Carly threw Melanie away when Melanie was born, left Melanie with "some loser, and didn't look back." Hope said that there were extenuating circumstances. Hope said that Carly was trying to protect Melanie. Melanie didn't see it that way. She said that Carly failed miserably, which was probably why Carly shot Melanie, Melanie said. Hope repeated to Melanie that there were extenuating circumstances. Hope accused Melanie of saying that Carly shot her out of spite.

Bo asked Carly to stop trying to be a martyr for her daughter, and he predicted that Vivian would be caught. Bo urged Carly to think about Melanie, because if Carly went to prison, that would be abandoning her daughter again. Hope walked by while they were talking and assumed she had interrupted at a bad time, but Bo said it was okay. He asked if she had talked to Melanie, and Carly asked how it went. Hope said Melanie claimed not to believe the shooting was an accident and was determined to punish Carly. Carly didn't think that Melanie would ever understand why she had to give Melanie up at birth. Hope said that hopefully one day Melanie would understand. Carly hoped for that, too, but she said if Melanie didn't, Carly would have to live with that. Bo had to leave to go to the police station. He planned to work on Gus to see if he would give up Vivian in exchange for a better deal.

After Bo left, Hope told Carly that it was possible that Melanie would change her mind. Carly was grateful for Hope's encouraging words, but she felt that going to prison would be best for everyone, including Hope. Hope asked what she meant, but Carly said "never mind." She said that she planned to plead guilty at her hearing. Hope told Carly that it could be years before Carly was released from prison if she pleaded guilty, but Carly thought it would be best for Melanie and Bo. Hope asked why it would be best for Bo, and Carly said it was because Hope was Bo's wife and Bo and Hope were having a hard time.

"Maybe he turned to me, but I know, and I think you do, too, that you are so important to him, and you know if I'm out of the picture, I really believe the two of you can find your way back to each other," Carly said. She asked if Hope thought she was being presumptuous.

"Presumptuous? Noble. Stepping aside so my husband and I could find our way back to each other, I mean you truly have a heart of gold," Hope said. Carly tried to clarify, but Hope didn't want to hear it. "You can take your patronizing little offer, and you can go straight to hell with it," Hope said.

3/16 Justin arrived on the pier just as Hope was telling Carly to go to hell. Carly informed Justin that she planned to plead guilty to shooting Melanie, although he warned that with Judge Goldberg, she could go to prison that very day. Carly was aware of that, and asked Justin to leave her and Hope alone for a few minutes. He reluctantly agreed. Carly thanked Hope for trying to talk to Melanie. Hope argued that it made no sense for Carly to go to prison to protect Melanie from Vivian, but Carly insisted that she had to do it. Hope expressed her sincere sympathy for what Carly was going through. As Hope left, Justin returned, and tried again to talk Carly out of pleading guilty, but Carly was adamant.

At the cemetery, Vivian stands in from of the monument for Lawrence. Vivian vows to avenge Lawrence's death. Hope arrived at the cemetery to visit Zack's grave, and was surprised to find Vivian there. Vivian sympathetically asserted that their losses gave the two of them something in common. Hope bristled, and ordered Vivian never to compare the deranged Lawrence to innocent Zack again. Vivian insisted that Lawrence was good-hearted, and she couldn't get the memories of his murder out of her mind.

"How can you have her live in your house and play with your daughter?" Vivian demanded indignantly, alluding to Carly. Hope revealed that Carly was about to plead guilty for Melanie's shooting, which delighted Vivian-and she asserted that Hope should feel the same. "I don't delight in other people's misery," Hope contended, and then left. Vivian knelt and caressed the granite marker. "Victory is finally ours, darling," she purred to Lawrence.

At the Brady Pub, Bo informed Philip that Carly intended to plead guilty for shooting Melanie. Philip was pleased. Bo sharply reminded his brother how dangerous Vivian could be, but Philip maintained that he only cared that Carly stayed out of Melanie's life. "I won't let anyone ever hurt her again," Philip declared. “Nobody, no one is going to ruin our wonderful life together." As Philip and Bo were bickering, Max showed up, and Bo greeted him with a hearty embrace. Max coolly congratulated Philip on his marriage, and then informed him that that Daniel was about to release Melanie from the hospital. After Philip left to call his wife, Max caught Bo up on life in London: Chelsea missed her dad and Hope, and Billie was recovering well from her accident. Bo confided that his own life had gotten kind of complicated, and Max admitted that he had a hard time believing that Bo and Hope could ever be over. Clearly uncomfortable, Bo pointed out that sometimes relationships fell apart for reasons no one understood. Bo then got a text message, and reluctantly announced that he had to leave. "Tell that daughter of mine to get her skinny butt home," he ordered Max, hugging him, and then Bo rushed out.

At the courthouse, the District Attorney, Charles Woods, gloated to Justin that the case was headed for a swift resolution. "It's not," maintained Bo. Carly interceded, but Bo was determined to keep her from pleading guilty by holding up the hearing with procedural errors. Carly tearfully asserted that she deserved to pay for having hurt so many people with her selfishness. Judge Goldberg took his seat and called the room to order. D.A. Woods announced that the defense had something to say, and Justin concurred. Carly addressed the judge: "Your Honor, I would formally like to change my plea to guilty." Woods did not object, and recommended the maximum sentence. Judge Goldberg ordered Carly to stand so he could pass sentence, but before he could rule, Melanie burst in.

3/17 At the courthouse, the judge was about to pronounce sentence on Carly for her guilty plea when Melanie burst into the room, and interrupted the proceedings. Stammering, Melanie asked the judge if she could make a statement. As Justin started to note to the judge that Melanie's statement had no relevancy to the sentencing, Carly interrupted to say that she wanted to hear Melanie's statement. After the lawyers agreed to allow the statement, the judge noted that the statement would be a matter of public record. "That's exactly how I want it," Melanie said. Melanie recapped her history with Carly by starting with the first coffee spilling incident and including all the incidents where Carly had taken a strange interest in her life. "What I'm getting at here is not once has Dr. Manning ever told me the truth. She's been lying to me since the second I met her, so I'm starting to think she's completely incapable of telling the truth," Melanie announced. Bo interrupted to defend Carly, but Carly warned Bo to let Melanie finish her statement.

Melanie continued her statement and explained about Carly's visit in the hospital when Melanie learned that Carly was her mother. Melanie admitted that she was so "freaked out" about the news of her parentage that she did not want to think about it until that day when some people she loved convinced her to attempt to remember what had happened the night of the shooting. "I remember Carly's face with the gun. She didn't mean to shoot me. She didn't want to hurt me. It was an accident," Melanie said. "I'm telling you the truth now. I wasn't before. When I gave my first statement, I was hurting and scared and I just wanted to get back at Carly for giving me away," said Melanie. Melanie explained that she did not feel like Carly intentionally tried to harm her. "She's not guilty," Melanie told the judge. The judge called a recess and asked for the parties not to speak to one another during the interim while he spoke to counsel. Out in the hallway, Carly confided in Bo that she was worried about Melanie because "despising me was the one thing keeping her safe."

After the recess, the judge informed Carly that he was dropping the charges and ruling the shooting to be accidental. "I believe a period of probation is adequate for the lesser charges," the judge announced. A thrilled Carly hugged Bo fiercely, and gazed over his shoulder hopefully at Melanie.

3/18 Vivian stopped by the Kiriakis mansion to see Victor. He wondered why she was in such a good mood and assumed that she had Carly in the trunk of her car, but Vivian said that wasn't necessary because Carly's life had already "gone up in flames." Vivian assumed that Carly was on the way to prison and was realizing how stupid it was to plead guilty to trying to kill Melanie.

Carly tried to reach out to Melanie, but Melanie didn't want anything to do with her. Melanie said that she kept Carly from going to prison, because it was the right thing to do, not because she wanted anything to do with Carly. Carly said she thought that there might be a chance that Melanie would allow Carly to be Melanie's mother, but Melanie told Carly to stay out of her life. When Carly said she couldn't, Melanie reminded her that she was "great at it for years." Carly realized that Melanie didn't tell Philip about her plans to save Carly from jail, and she was concerned that people might be upset with Melanie for it.

Melanie said that she told the judge that Carly was innocent as a way of cutting ties with Carly. Melanie said she did it for Daniel. Daniel was just as angry with Carly for what she did, Melanie said. Melanie got emotional thinking about what Daniel told her, that he would have loved to raise her. Melanie said that Daniel convinced Melanie to help Carly, because it was the right thing to do. Melanie yelled at Carly that she didn't want anything to do with Carly. Philip walked up and asked what Carly had said.

When Chloe saw Carly, she stopped her and said that she needed to get some things straight with Carly. Carly warned Chloe that Daniel needed time to deal with the fact that he had a daughter, and didn't need to deal with anything else. Daniel interrupted them and sent Chloe away, while he talked to Carly. He said that Carly didn't owe Daniel anything, because he convinced Melanie to help Carly for Melanie's sake, not Carly's. Carly asked Daniel to keep Carly informed about how Melanie was doing. Daniel refused to keep secrets from Melanie or Chloe. Carly reminded him that Vivian was still on the loose. He promised to protect Melanie, but he refused to help Carly.

Bo called Carly, and she told him that Melanie only spoke up on her behalf because Daniel asked her to. Vivian saw Carly and informed her that she didn't live up to her part of the deal. "What am I supposed to do about that?" Vivian asked.

3/19 Vivian informed Victor that Melanie's testimony had exonerated Carly. "Don't worry about it," Vivian reassured him. "The law didn't take care of her, but I will."

3/22 Carly and Daniel went to the police station so that Carly could tell Bo and Abe that Vivian threatened her. Bo and Daniel planned to protect Carly from Vivian. Bo wondered why Vivian wasn't in a mental institution. Carly said she was more concerned about Melanie's safety. Bo planned to put an end to Vivian's threats. Bo called Vivian and ordered her to go to the police station. When Vivian arrived, Bo asked Daniel and Carly to leave the room. Daniel resented Bo for knowing about Melanie before Daniel did. Bo started to detail the ways that he could make Vivian's life a living hell. Vivian claimed that Bo's threats were empty and that he didn't follow through on them, whereas Vivian made threats and followed through. Bo and Carly kissed, but they stopped because the hospital was paging her. Bo called someone to tell them that the craziness with Vivian was going to end.

Vivian returned to the Java Café to see Gus. She vowed that she would "do Lawrence proud."

3/24 At the Kiriakis mansion, Bo warned Victor that Vivian had to end her vendetta against Carly. "That's not going to happen, not until one of them's dead," Victor replied with a chuckle, asserting that Carly deserved Vivian's wrath. Bo calmly declared, "If Vivian needs to be eliminated for this circus to end, then I will eliminate her." Victor didn't believe that Bo would break the law by committing murder, but Bo was dead serious about protecting Carly and her daughter from Vivian. Victor worried what it would do to Bo's family, especially Caroline, if Bo went to prison for killing Vivian. "Then do something about it before I have to take matters into my own hands," Bo stated, and then walked out.

When Vivian arrived at the Kiriakis mansion, Victor decreed, "You're done torturing Carly. The vendetta ends today. You are not to touch a hair on her head." While Vivian spluttered in protest, Victor warned that he would not allow Bo to go to prison for her murder. He warns her that the vendetta ends today!

"Asking you to be merciful is like asking a dog not to bark," Victor acknowledged. "And I only have one thing that I can offer you, me.” Victor knew that Vivian had always wanted their arrangement to be more permanent, so he suggested that they get married, despite what his family would surely say. Vivian was floored and elated, but hedged that she needed to think it over before she gave up getting revenge on Carly. Carly met Bo on the pier, and he told her about his meeting with Victor, but Carly didn't think it was possible to stop Vivian. Bo promised that if Victor didn't rein Vivian in, Bo would take her out. "I've been in law enforcement a long time, and I gave this everything I've got," he explained. "And in the end, the law couldn't protect you but I will." He vowed never to let anyone hurt Carly again. Carly showed her gratitude by kissing him, which Vivian spied from afar.

3/25 Vivian interrupted them and asked whether Carly drugged or hypnotized the men, who were "seemingly intelligent" but fall for a “murderess woman like her”.

On the pier, Vivian harassed Carly, so Bo threatened to kill Vivian if she didn't leave Carly alone. Vivian took his threat seriously and realized that he meant it. She questions if he was really willing to give up his family and his career? Vivian felt that it was unfair, because Carly killed Lawrence while Carly was free and getting her happy ending. An upset Vivian wants justice for Lawrence so badly. Bo told Vivian to leave Carly alone, or Vivian would join Lawrence in hell sooner than Vivian thought. Vivian started to see that there was a better way to handle Lawrence's death, and she walked away. Carly felt that Vivian was lying. Bo didn't want to talk about Vivian. He kissed Carly and led her away.

At the police station, Hope thought about her conversation with Bo when she accused him of sacrificing everyone for Carly's sake. Justin walked past Hope and chewed her out for playing God with his life. Justin said that she shouldn't have made Adrienne think that there was hope for Adrienne and Justin when there wasn't. Hope didn't believe it. He said that wasn't her call, and he assumed that Hope had tried to get Justin and Adrienne back together to believe that Bo and Hope still had a chance.

Justin encouraged Hope to accept that Bo had moved on, and suggested that Hope move on too. Hope showed Justin that she wasn't wearing her wedding ring and said she already moved on. Justin asked if she was sure about that. Justin was worried about Hope. She said that if she said she was fine, Justin would say she was in denial, and if she said she wasn't, he would say she needed to move on. Hope admitted that she never should have interfered with him and Adrienne, but she felt that Justin was doing the same thing.

Hope thought that Justin assumed that if she moved on, they would be together. Justin understood how Hope felt about him, but it didn't stop him from having feelings for her. He professed his love for her, and Adrienne overheard him. Adrienne asked him to give her and Hope a moment alone. Adrienne assumed that Hope was moving on with Justin after Bo dumped Hope. Hope explained that she didn't feel anything for Justin but friendship. Hope said that Justin was crushed when he got the divorce papers and focused on Hope just to get over Adrienne. Hope asked if Adrienne would have traveled halfway around the world if she didn't still have feelings for Justin. It was clear that Adrienne agreed. Then she realized that Hope wasn't talking about Adrienne and Justin. Adrienne felt that Hope was talking about Hope and Bo. Hope told Adrienne that she wanted to talk about it later. Adrienne told Hope that she needed to accept that Bo was with Carly.

When they got home, Carly wanted to know if he would really kill Vivian. He said that no matter what Vivian said, Vivian wanted to live, and if she made a move on Carly, Vivian wouldn't live. Carly asked again if Bo would kill Vivian, and Bo said it was important that it was what Vivian thought. Bo assumed that Vivian would run it by Victor, and Victor would tell Vivian that Bo was serious and not to push Bo. Bo made love to Carly, and told her he loved her.

Vivian asked Victor if he thought that Bo would really kill her. "Of course he will," Victor said. Vivian changed her mind. She decided to marry Victor instead of killing Carly. Vivian wanted their relationship to be based on absolute trust. Victor laughed at the absurdity of that idea and reminds her that neither of them trust each other. Vivian said she wouldn't harm Carly physically. Victor assumed that she would use psychological warfare. Vivian said that Carly seemed very happy with Bo, but they wouldn't be together for long. Victor agrees that he can live with that.

3/29 Hope saw Justin at the Kiriakis mansion. She felt awkward as she explained that she was going to drop off Ciara's things at Sarah's house, because Ciara was spending the night with her friend. Hope apologized to Justin and said she thought she was doing the right thing by luring Adrienne into town. Justin said it was the wrong thing to do, and Hope realized that. Justin asked what Hope told Adrienne after Justin had left the room. Hope said she explained that Justin was in such pain over his split with Adrienne that he thought he was in love with Hope. Justin said that Hope's explanation was the truth as she saw it. He believed that Hope had tricked Justin's ex-wife into flying into town to humiliate him. He demanded that Hope run any idea she had about him and his marriage past him the next time.

Julie overheard the ruckus as Justin was leaving and asked Hope what had happened. Hope admitted that she had messed up. Julie assumed that Hope wanted Adrienne to know that Justin was in love with Hope, but Hope said she had believed that once Adrienne saw Justin, they would reunite. Hope felt bad for lying to Adrienne to get her to Salem by saying that Justin was in trouble. Julie realized that Hope thought that if Adrienne and Justin could get past their differences, it would give Hope hope that Hope and Bo could do the same. Julie asked if Bo knew that Hope wanted him back. Hope said she never said that she wanted him back, but it was obvious to Julie. Hope felt it wasn't that simple. Julie blamed it on Carly. Hope warned Julie not to placate her about Carly. Hope felt guilty for making the situation worse with Justin and Adrienne. Julie suggested that Hope go find Adrienne and explain that Adrienne needed to fight for the man she loved.

Hope showed up and tried to talk to Adrienne, but Adrienne didn't want to hear it. Hope tried to apologize. Adrienne felt stupid for flying across the world only to find out that Justin was in love with another woman. Hope said that Justin wasn't in love with Hope. Adrienne decided to move to another table. Hope tried to convince Adrienne to give Justin another chance. Adrienne felt that Hope was projecting her feelings for Bo onto Adrienne and Justin. Adrienne asked Hope to leave her alone. Hope admitted that it wasn't her place to interfere, but she encouraged Adrienne to try to rekindle her love for Justin.

Hope ran into Justin at the park. He thought that she was playing the victim. Hope tried to apologize again, and Justin felt that Hope brought Adrienne back to town to shoot him down and mess with his head. He said he got the message. Hope tried to explain herself, but Justin didn't want to hear it.

4/6 As a surprise, Bo took Carly out on a date. Carly admitted that she liked spending the evening out with Bo, but she added that she was just as comfortable sitting at home in sweatpants. Bo complimented Carly on her beauty and agreed that he would be happy to spend the evening home with her in sweatpants. Carly admitted that the first time they dated, she was unsure about their future and that she often wondered what would have happened if they had stayed together. Smiling, Bo told Carly that he did not want to screw up their second chance. While Bo danced with Carly, his cell phone began to ring. Bo grumbled about work, but then he realized the call was coming from his mother. When Bo asked Caroline why she was calling so late, he discovered there was news about his sister, Kimberly.

4/7 At the hospital, Lexie invited Hope and Ciara to join Abe, Lexie, and Theo for dinner soon, so the kids could play and the grownups could catch up. Daniel led in a paramedic transporting a mugging victim from the emergency room. Hope was startled to see that it was the District Attorney, Charles Woods, who surprised her even further with his claim that Rafe Hernandez had mugged him.

Bo was having coffee with Carly at the Brady Pub before he had to leave for his flight to Los Angeles, where he was donating bone marrow to his sister, Kimberly. He was concerned for Carly's safety while he was gone, since he feared he was only thing keeping Vivian from killing Carly. Carly insisted that she wasn't worried about Vivian.

Bo went by the Kiriakis mansion to say goodbye to Ciara before he left, and she sat in his lap while he explained why he was going. "I love you lots and lots, and I'm going to miss you," Bo told his daughter. "I'll miss you too, and so will Mommy," Ciara replied. "Mommy loves you lots and lots. You love Mommy, too, don't you?" Bo assured her that he loved both of them. On his way out, Bo ran into Victor, who hoped that some time away would give Bo a fresh perspective on things. Bo declared that his perspective would never change, then added, "Tell that lovely fiancée of yours to stay the hell away from Carly or you know what will happen." Once he was outside, Bo left a message for Hope to call him back.

Bo informed Daniel that his sister had Leukemia, so he was headed to L.A. to see her and donate bone marrow. Bo then reminded Daniel, "You did that surgery on me, and it's okay for me to donate, right?" Daniel assured him, "Oh, absolutely. Completely unrelated issues." Daniel confessed that although Bo was doing a wonderful thing and improving his sister's odds for recovery, he knew they were both worried about protecting Carly in Bo's absence. Daniel didn't trust Victor to keep Vivian "in her cage," as he'd promised Bo. Bo somewhat sarcastically suggested that he would take Carly with him to California, but Daniel thought that Carly could stay with him and Chloe.

"Uh, do I have a say in that?" Carly asked incredulously as she hung up. "I'm not moving in with you and Chloe. That's crazy talk." She assured Daniel and Bo that she would be fine where she'd been staying. Daniel urged her to think about it, because it was important to both him and Melanie that Carly stayed safe. After Daniel had gone, Bo pleaded with Carly to reconsider, and maintained that she should have someone to watch her back while he was gone. Carly tried to argue with him, but Bo kissed her to shut her up. "I'll miss you," Carly declared quietly. "While you're out there, I want you to take care of your sister, help your mother, and don't worry about me." Bo reminded her that he couldn't promise not to worry, and then asked her to walk him to his car, since he was late for his flight.

Hope called Rafe and asked him to meet her at the police station.

Once the doctors had bandaged Woods's head, and he was settled into a room, Hope noted that if Woods been attacked from behind, he could not have seen his attacker. The D.A. admitted that he hadn't, but he'd heard the man's voice. Woods then told Hope that when he had allowed bail on a suspect earlier, Agent Hernandez had gone "ballistic." Woods smugly urged Hope to talk to the mayor if she didn't believe him.

Abe arrived at the hospital to check on the district attorney; Abe felt that, as the mayor, he should be visible after such a high profile mugging. Hope returned from the D.A.'s room and asked Abe about the altercation between Woods and Hernandez at the police station. Abe informed her that Rafe had "just snapped" after Woods had set bail for a kidnapping suspect.

4/8 - 5/19 Edited to Hope while Bo is out of town for a few weeks.

4/8 Rafe insisted to Hope that he didn't attack the "slimeball" D.A. Hope questioned Rafe on where he was the night before. Rafe said he didn't have an alibi, because he was alone. He was hesitant to tell her exactly where he was. Rafe said he had taken a walk to clear his mind. Rafe couldn't help but continue to bash the D.A. Hope warned him to stop saying those things. Sami told Abe and Hope that she was Rafe's alibi. After hearing Sami's timeline of her time with Rafe, Abe said it sounded as if she had read the D.A.'s statement. Hope needed to corroborate Sami's story, and she led Sami into the room with Rafe. Hope asked Rafe what she and Rafe were doing the night before. He said he didn't know what Sami was doing the night before, and he didn't see her, because they were on a break. Rafe asked Hope to give him time alone with Sami.

Hope went by Maggie's house, and Maggie broke the news to Hope about Kimberly having cancer. Hope realized that Bo had left several messages for Hope about it, but she didn't understand why she would have erased Bo's messages. Maggie was sure that Bo would get in touch with Hope before he left for Los Angeles. Hope asked if Bo called Maggie looking for Hope. Maggie said no, and Hope asked how Maggie knew about Bo's sister. Maggie said she had run into Carly at the hospital. Hope wasn't surprised. Maggie reminded Hope that Hope and Bo shared a child, so Hope couldn't just shut Bo out of her life. Hope agreed that she needed to get along with Bo for Ciara's sake.

4/12 Hope thought back to when she saw Bo and Carly kissing for the first time. Carly stopped by the Kiriakis mansion to leave a book for Ciara from Bo, which interrupted Hopes thoughts. Hope overheard them talking and confronted Carly about Bo not telling Hope how sick Kim was. Carly explained that Bo had to leave town quickly and had left messages, but Hope didn't call him back and hardly ever called him back. Hope told Carly to watch her tone of voice, but Carly said that someone needed to speak to Hope, and it might as well be Carly. Carly accused Hope of throwing her marriage away.

Hope clarified that she did not throw her marriage away, and Carly wouldn't have had a chance with Bo if Hope and Bo were not separated. Carly agreed that Hope was right, and she encouraged Hope to live with the fact that Bo chose to be with Carly. Hope told Carly that she was just in the right place at the right time. She explained that when things would get really bad, Bo would retreat into the past. Carly said she wouldn't begin to understand what Hope went through when Hope lost her son, but she considered it a cheap shot to say that Bo would have affairs so he didn't have to grieve while Hope handled all that for the both of them. Hope said she didn't "give a damn" what Carly thought. All she knew was she went through some really bad times alone.

When Carly mentioned Patrick, Hope asked if Bo had told Carly about it. Carly said that Bo talked to her about a lot of things. She accused Hope of standing on her moral high ground when the fact was Bo had been hurt too. Hope said there was more pain on the way for Bo. Hope accused Carly of killing her own marriage and then having the "audacity" to kill Hope's too. Hope predicted that Bo would find himself all alone again. Carly didn't care if Hope ridiculed her. She was in love with Bo and planned to be with Bo for the rest of their lives. Hope said she used to use the same word. " Can we not do the martyr thing, please, anymore? And just so you know, I'm not going to grovel, and I'm not going to continue to apologize, okay, so just forget about it," Carly said. She felt that her love for Bo and Bo's love for Carly would never change. After Carly left, Hope had a bad headache and went to bed.
