Bo & Hope #78 April 15 - August 2, 2010: 8 hour edit on three dvds
DVD #78A 4/15 Hope called Justin while he was in the hospital and put Ciara on the phone to say hi. Justin promised to take Ciara to the park once he was released from the hospital. Hope sat on Justin's bed until he woke up and thought he was dreaming by seeing her standing there. Hope touched her hand when he tried to stop her from leaving.
Later, at the Java Café, Hope questioned Justin about his mugging. He said he only remembered leaving the bar, then the rest went blank. Hope said she was glad that he was okay. He started to leave to catch up on some work, and when he started to leave, Hope asked him to stay. Justin agreed to stay for a while. Hope asked if Justin was leaving town anytime soon. She wondered if Adrienne being back in town would impact his decision to stay. Justin assured Hope that things were over between him and Adrienne. Hope said she was sorry for that. He asked if she was really sorry.
Justin told Hope that he sensed she was looking at her in a way because she was interested in him, but he figured he was seeing things that weren't there. Hope admitted that he wasn't seeing things. Hope admitted to Justin that she looked at him differently, but she said it was because Ciara had become attached to Justin. Justin had to leave for the office, but he asked to continue their conversation later that night, and Hope said she would be around.
Adrienne ran into Hope at the Java Café. Hope apologized for lying to Adrienne to convince Adrienne to return to Salem. Hope said she realized that she shouldn't have tried to get Adrienne to return.
4/19 An officer told Hope that Ciara's school had called and that she had forgotten her lunch. Abe told Hope that the district attorney had admitted that he hadn't seen Rafe attack him. Hope got angry at D.A. Woods for lying about Rafe attacking him. She accidentally knocked over some coffee. Abe wanted to talk to Hope, but she said she didn't have time.
Abe told Hope that he was taking Hope off the case as she had feared. Hope said her job was the only thing she had left. Adrienne overheard her and interrupted their conversation. Justin arrived, and Hope excused herself. Adrienne and Justin noticed that Hope seemed stressed out. Adrienne asked Justin to go somewhere where they could talk.
When Hope got home, she took some pills and then saw Ciara. She had a headache and cursed. Ciara noticed and pointed it out. Hope apologized and decided to give Ciara a bath and to read a book to the girl before bedtime.
Hope had gone back out, but when she got home, she was acting strangely. Ciara had been waiting up for her. Ciara said she was scared and missed Bo and Justin. Hope said she had an idea that could solve both problems by Justin being Ciara's new daddy someday.
4/20 Hope walked into the Kiriakis living room and found Ciara shoving a wedding magazine into her backpack. When Hope asked Ciara why she was taking the magazine, Ciara explained that she believed Hope was getting married again. Confused, Hope asked Ciara where she had gotten the idea that Hope was going to remarry.
"Then why did you tell me Uncle Justin was going to be my new daddy?" Ciara asked. Hope denied that she had said anything like that, but Ciara thought about her conversation with Hope the previous day when Hope had said, "Maybe someday Uncle Justin will be your new daddy." Bewildered, Ciara insisted that Hope had told her that.
"I really think you dreamt what I said about Justin," Hope suggested to Ciara. Annoyed, Ciara insisted that Hope had told her about Justin in real life. "I'm not telling a lie!" Ciara cried out before running out of the room. Hope started to run after Ciara, but when she received a call from the police station about Abe's mugging, Hope left for work instead.
Down the hallway, Hope rushed in to Abe's room to talk to him about the mugging. Lexie assured Hope that Abe was fine, and Hope explained that she had not received the news about the mugging sooner. Hope urged Abe to keep her on the case, and Abe asked Lexie to step outside for a few minutes. On her way out of the room, Lexie whispered to Hope that Abe could have died if the wound had been a few inches over. Shaking her head with worry, Lexie slipped out of the room.
Abe told Hope about what had happened and noted the similarities to Justin's mugging. Abe asked Hope whether she was "sleeping any better lately." Smiling, Hope assured Abe that if she seemed distracted, it was because Ciara was having a difficult time with her parents' separation. When Abe asked about Bo, Hope admitted that Ciara had spoken to Bo and that Hope had only spoken to Caroline. "You want an update on Bo, you talk to Carly Manning," Hope said. Abe asked Hope whether she wanted to take some leave time from work, but Hope declined the offer.
An excited Theo ran into Abe's hospital room, and the noise seemed to shake Hope. After rubbing her head, Hope left the room with Lexie. Lexie informed Hope about Abe's injuries, but she explained that the doctor that had worked on Abe when he had been admitted was Carly. Lexie went to attend to a patient, and Hope stayed behind to talk to Carly. As Hope approached Carly, Carly received a phone call from Bo. With Hope standing behind her, Carly told Bo how much she loved and missed him.
After wrapping up her phone call, Carly turned and saw Hope standing behind her. Hope told Carly that she needed information about Abe's injuries and wanted to know whether they were similar to the injuries sustained by the other two mugging victims. As Hope shakily attempted to continue questioning Carly, Carly interrupted to inform Hope that Bo and Kim were doing well after the surgery. Before Hope could respond, she received a call from Ciara's school, and she rushed off to pick up Ciara.
After picking up Ciara at school, Hope took her back to the Kiriakis mansion to talk to her about the stickers that she had stolen from her teacher. Hope assured Ciara that she would always be there for her daughter, but Ciara countered, "You think everything I do is bad." Hope told Ciara to go to her room as punishment, and running from the room, Ciara said that she wanted her dad.
Victor relaxed on the couch to read the newspaper as Hope entered the living room. When Victor noted that Hope was home early, Hope explained that Ciara had been caught stealing reward stickers from her teacher. Beaming with pride, Victor noted that Ciara could make a fortune, selling the stickers on the playground. Furious, Hope argued that Ciara's behavior was not like her daughter. When Victor asked Hope about how Abe was doing, Hope marveled at the fact that Victor knew about Abe's attack despite the news blackout. Curious, Hope asked Victor what the "word on the street" was about the mugger. While her mother grilled Victor downstairs, Ciara sneaked into Hope's room and spotted a high heel shoe lying on the floor. Ciara put on the shoe and then looked around the room for the other half of the pair.
Peeking under the bed, Ciara found a shoebox. "Wow, Tommy Bear. Look what mommy has," Ciara remarked as she opened the box. "Tommy Bear, I think my mommy has a secret," Ciara whispered to her teddy bear.
4/21 In Hope's room at the Kiriakis mansion, Ciara looked inside a box she'd pulled out from under Hope's bed and whispered to her stuffed bear, "Tommy Bear, I think my mommy has a secret." As Hope called upstairs to her daughter, Ciara quickly hid the box back under the bed. "There you are!" Hope exclaimed as she opened the door. "Sweetie, what are you doing in here?" Observing Ciara's reticence, Hope noted, "I feel like I don't know what's going on in your head."
Ciara replied, "I don't know what's inside your head either, Mommy." Hope admitted that she was worried about Ciara, who Hope believed was confiding in Tommy Bear instead of Hope or the therapist and making up stories. "Honey, why would I ever tell you that Justin was going to be your new daddy?" Hope wondered, explaining, "You already have a daddy who loves you." Ciara didn't answer, so Hope gave up and told the child that dinner was ready in the kitchen. As Ciara ran out of the room, she whispered to herself, "But Mommy, I didn't make it up!"
As a worried Hope sat in her room, thinking, Justin knocked on the door. Hope confided that she was worried because Ciara, who had never lied or stolen anything, had been making things up and stealing from her teacher's desk at school. Justin reassured Hope that she was a good mother, and Ciara was a normal kid, and then offered to help Hope with Ciara.
After they had tucked Ciara into bed, Hope and Justin went downstairs to the parlor. Hope confessed that Ciara had claimed Hope had told her that Justin was going to be Ciara's new daddy. They discussed how Hope didn't feel comfortable with Ciara spending much time with Bo because of Carly and Hope also didn't want Ciara to start thinking of Carly as her "step-mommy." Justin was sorry for what Hope was going through. Hope filled in Justin about Abe's mugging then declared that she had a splitting headache, and headed up to bed.
After changing into her pajamas, Hope opened a prescription bottle in her purse, and washed down a pill from it with a glass of water. Once she was in bed, she tossed and turned, but then suddenly her eyes flew open. Looking at the clock on the nightstand, she exclaimed, "Oh, God, I overslept. I don't have very much time." She jumped out of bed and began rushing around her bedroom.
"What the hell are you doing here?" Victor demanded when he arrived home and found Justin having a drink in the parlor. Justin presented Victor with some contracts for his signature. Victor snidely noted that Justin had only delivered the contracts that night because he had wanted the chance to see Hope. An annoyed Justin argued that Bo had chosen Carly over Hope.
Victor asserted that Bo would eventually see through Carly and return to Hope. Justin wondered what Hope and Ciara were supposed to do while they waited for that to happen and irritably pointed out that Bo could never be anything short of perfect in Victor's eyes. Justin then headed upstairs to check on Ciara and Hope.
Hope was soon dressed all in black with her hair done up. "Tonight is going to be the night," she declared with a sly smile as she gazed at herself in a hand mirror. Justin stopped outside Hope's door just as she was applying some bright red lipstick. "Perfect!" she murmured to her reflection.
4/22 Hope was dressed fancy and was ready to go out. She grabbed her gun, loaded it, and headed for the door when Justin knocked on the door to check up on her. Hope told him that she was okay, so he could go away. Hope left the house and called someone to ask if something was "on." She said she was on her way.
Hope was on a winning streak at a poker game. She wanted to cash in and go home, but someone stopped her and said that she owed him a drink. It was Dr. Baker. Hope said she was sorry Dr. Baker had had such a bad night. He said that was why she was going to buy him a drink, to make up for his bad night.
4/23 After the poker game, Hope and Dr. Baker enjoyed a drink together. Baker admitted that he wasn't displeased that Hope hadn't taken him out for a drink, since he wasn't a fan of public places. Hope concurred that she wasn't, either, and asserted that it was up to him to find out if they had even more in common than that. Baker asked if Hope would tell him her name before he took her up to his place.
"Whoa, whoa, big guy," Hope interrupted, "I'm not interested in that kind of action." She spread out her winnings from the game and pointed out that she'd had a lucky night but he hadn't. "When your luck runs out," she added, "it's always good to have another stream of income. Don't you agree?" She stated mysteriously that she liked to rescue people. Baker concluded, "But first I have to help you?"
Hope stated that reciprocity was all about being able to follow through. Baker replied that following through was what he did and added as an enigmatic explanation, "Let's just say that there's plenty of people who think I'm dead because of what I've done." Hope wanted to know more, but Baker suspected her of playing a game with him. As she held up her pistol, Hope asked, "Look like a game?" Baker admitted that he was all too familiar with "desperate measures." Hope asked, "Then should we take this conversation to the next level?" Baker assented, so Hope wanted them both to be honest about what was really going on.
Later, Dr. Baker queried, "So, this theoretical idea we've been tossing around... I just have one question: when do we get started?"
Hope countered, "You tell me."
On the pier, Dr. Baker approached E.J. to ask for directions. E.J. was astounded to see Baker. "You!" he pronounced accusingly, "You're dead." Suddenly, Hope appeared and bashed E.J. on the head with the grip of her sidearm. She looked down at his fallen body and declared with a smile, "Well, that went well." Horrified, Baker countered, “No, no, it didn't. He knows me; he knows what I've done. And if he wakes up --" Hope interjected, "Well, maybe we need to make sure he doesn't."
4/26 Hope knocked E.J. out as Dr. Baker watched. Dr. Baker said that E.J. knew what Dr. Baker did, and he worried about what would happen if E.J. woke up. Hope suggested that they kill E.J. Hope aimed the gun at E.J., who was unconscious on the ground, but Dr. Baker stopped her and said she couldn't shoot him. "You're right, but you can," Hope said, handing the gun to Dr. Baker.
Hope explained that Dr. Baker needed to get rid of the threat, since E.J. saw him. E.J. started to wake up, so Hope kicked him in the head with her shoe until he was out cold again. Hope admitted that she was testing Dr. Baker. She said they wouldn't have any problems as long as he did what she said. He examined E.J. and said E.J. needed stitches and an MRI for brain hemorraghing.
Hope asked how Dr, Baker knew that, and she said it was because he was a doctor but had taken a break from medicine. Hope asked what the prognosis was, and Dr. Baker said that depended on Hope. After Dr. Baker left, she went through E.J.'s pockets and took his wallet. Hope followed Dr. Baker back to his place. He assumed that she had killed E.J., and he called her a "lunatic bitch." She held him at gunpoint.
Dr. Baker apologized for what he called Hope. She pretended to shoot Dr. Baker, but the gun didn't fire. Dr. Baker demanded to know why Hope was playing games with him. Hope said she didn't want to kill anyone -- she just wanted to enter a partnership in which they knocked guys unconscious and took their money. Hope insisted that only she would pick the targets, and they would all be men. Hope felt the men were getting what they deserved.
Hope threw E.J.'s wallet to Dr. Baker and asked if he was in or not. "Not a bad payday," he said, taking the money out of the wallet. Hope promised to be in touch, and she left. Hope put E.J.'s wallet in the box under her bed with the rest of the wallets and then went to sleep.
4/28 At the police station, Hope informed Roman that she was headed to the hospital to take E.J.'s statement. Roman and Hope were both determined to solve the multiple muggings. After Roman left, Hope knocked over her purse, and spilled her bottle of sleeping pills all over the floor. Julie walked in as Hope was picking them up, and asked if Hope were all right. Hope stated that she'd merely been having trouble sleeping, so the doctor had written her a prescription for non-addictive sleeping pills, which she'd have to ask for more of, since she'd just spilled them on the squad room floor.
A concerned Julie maintained that all sleeping pills were addictive, if not physically, then psychologically, and urged Hope to first try things like taking warm baths before bed. Hope reassured her stepmother that she hadn't been taking the pills that long, and only after she'd tried everything else she could think of first but her child and her job needed her focused, not sleep deprived.
Hope refused to discuss her insomnia further, and then confided that she'd been having problems with Ciara. Julie pointed out that Ciara's acting out was probably her way of getting her parents' attention, since the child didn't know how to express what she was really feeling. Hope admitted with a sigh that she was overwhelmed and asked for Julie's advice about what to do.
Julie asked whether Hope had considered taking a leave of absence at work, but Hope didn't want doing so to send the wrong message to Ciara. Julie asked some prying questions about Hope's relationship with Justin, but Hope didn't want to talk about it. On Julie's way out to pick up Ciara at school, Hope implored Julie to relay anything that Ciara said to Doug and Julie that might give Hope some insight into the girl's behavior. Julie was more than happy to oblige.
Hope went to her doctor's office and explained about spilling her sleeping pills. The doctor said that he couldn't write her a new prescription because her insurance wouldn't cover a refill so soon. When Hope offered to pay for the new ones out of pocket, the doctor became a bit suspicious.
Hope assured him that she wasn't abusing the medication, so the doctor wrote out a new prescription, which Hope exchanged for the ones she'd spilled. The doctor wanted to know how well the drug worked for Hope. Hope told him how exhausted she'd been in the mornings, and about the tiring dreams she'd been having, but since taking the medication, she no longer remembered her dreams, and awakened feeling great.
After her doctor's appointment, Hope checked in by phone with the police station from the pier, on her way to interview E.J. As Hope hung up, Dr. Baker arrived. "You're a sight for sore eyes," he greeted her. "I've been looking all over for you." Hope looked at him with a complete lack of recognition. "I'm so sorry; do I know you?" she asked.
4/29 Hope told an officer that she had no idea who Dr. Baker was. The officer filled her in on the suspect in the assaults, and said that they had no lead, because the perpetrator did a good job of covering his tracks. Dr. Baker was surprised to learn that Hope was a detective.
Hope realized out that the street mugger was more sophisticated than an average street mugger, because he had figured out E.J.'s pin number and transferred the money to an offshore account. Hope needed to tell E.J. about it so that he could freeze the rest of his accounts, and she asked the officer to check the accounts of the other victims for any activity. After the officer left, Hope wondered who Dr. Baker was.
Hope interviewed E.J. about his mugging. E.J. said that the man he remembered that the man who was there was connected to Nicole. E.J.'s memory was hazy, and he couldn't remember the man's name. Hope dismissed Nicole so that they could speak candidly. Hope told E.J. about the ATM card, but he already knew about it and had frozen the account.
She asked if Nicole knew his PIN number, but he said that Nicole didn't know. Hope said the assailant left a trail by using his computer. Hope figured out that someone shorter had attacked E.J. "Like a woman," he said. He theorized that Nicole might have hit him, and he told Hope that he knew Nicole was involved somehow.
Hope told Nicole that the attack on E.J. seemed more personal than the others. Hope questioned where Nicole was the night before. Nicole asked why it mattered, because the suspect was supposed to be a man. Hope said it could have been a woman, so she asked Nicole the question again. Nicole tried to get out of telling her by saying that her elevator had arrived, but Hope insisted that they finish their conversation at the police station.
4/30 As Hope led Nicole into an interview room at the police station, Nicole insisted that E.J. was trying to frame her for his mugging. Hope showed Nicole a stack of files that represented every time Nicole had been charged with a crime and proclaimed her innocence, and noted that E.J. had been Nicole's lawyer in many of the cases. Although Nicole bristled at Hope's attitude and allegations, Hope also pointed out how Nicole was only walking around free because she had bribed a corrupt governor.
Hope demanded, "Who was the man E.J. remembered?" Nicole was adamant that E.J. was lying to set her up, but Hope wanted to know why Nicole had destroyed the interview footage. Nicole maintained that there was nothing incriminating on the tape. Hope asserted that E.J.'s amnesia and vagueness about the details gave his story credibility, because if he'd wanted to set Nicole up, he would already have done it. Hope declared, "I want to know who this man was, and I want to know why he was connected to you."
Nicole argued that she couldn't answer that without so much as a description of the man. "If you're going to charge me, then charge me," Nicole added irritably. “But oh wait you can't, because you don't have a shred of evidence against me." Hope calmly noted, "I know where to find you when E.J. remembers the rest." After Hope left, Nicole realized she needed help and she knew just who would give it to her.
As Hope was getting ready for bed at the Kiriakis mansion, she talked on the phone to Ciara, who was staying with her grandparents for the night. After Hope hung up, she told herself, "What I really need is a good night's sleep." She then took a sleeping pill.
5/3 Dr. Baker was getting ready to skip town, but when he opened the door, Hope was standing there. She told him that he wasn't going anywhere, because they were partners and needed to stick together. Dr. Baker ordered Hope to move out of his way, but she told him that there was "no turning back" for either of them. Dr. Baker said that they were not partners, he didn't even know her name, and he didn't care about her.
Hope reminded him that he helped her "take down" E.J. Dr. Baker pointed out that she was in trouble, because she was a cop who was robbing people. He asked why she was doing It and who she was. She told him to have a seat and she would explain everything. She admitted that she was a police detective and had been assigned to investigate the muggings.
Dr. Baker was shocked, but Hope assured Dr. Baker that she would forget all about Dr. Baker. He wasn't interested, though, and he asked why she was mugging people. She said she had her reasons, but they were none of Dr. Baker's concern. She said the only thing they should worry about was having fun and making money. Dr. Baker still wasn't interested, but Hope blocked the door so he couldn't leave. Dr. Baker said he knew when he first met her that something was "off" and he should have followed his gut. He tried to leave, and she demanded the cashier's check, which he obtained after transferring money from the DiMera bank account.
He lied and said he didn't have it on him, but Hope pulled a gun on him. When he gave her the cashier's check, she ripped it up. He called her "nuts." Hope said it wasn't about the money. He tried again to leave, but she stopped him and said she needed him. "I can't do this without you, please. I can't, not after -" Hope said. "Not after what?" Dr. Baker asked. "I had a partner before, someone I loved very much. Still love him, but he's gone, and he's never coming back," she said. Hope complained that she felt alone.
Dr. Baker tried to console Hope by touching her shoulder, but she turned cold and told him "no touching." She asked what he thought about being partners, because they wouldn't be alone anymore and they would make a great team. He agreed, so she jumped for joy, and they ran out to rob someone else. Hope and Dr. Baker noticed Brady, and Hope thought Brady was "the perfect target." "Let's kick it up a notch," she told Dr. Baker. Brady heard a noise and asked, "Who's there?" Hope hit him on the back of the head with her gun. Dr. Baker wanted to get Brady's money and leave. "Not yet. I'm afraid he doesn't get off that easily," she said.
5/4 After knocking Brady unconscious in the park, Hope grabbed his wallet and tore open his shirt. Dick was anxious to leave the scene of the attack, but Hope insisted, "This is my game and we play by my rules." Hope pulled a black velvet bag out of her purse and "left her mark" on Brady. "You are extremely perverse," Dick said. While Hope closed Brady's shirt, Dick spotted a money clip lying nearby and placed his foot over it to hide it from Hope. When Hope rushed away from the scene, Dick scooped up the money clip and followed her down the sidewalk.
Dick met up with Hope down at the pier. When Hope asked Dick who the victim was, he thought about when Brady had threatened him to stay away from Nicole. "We had a little disagreement. I guess we're even now," Dick said. Hope pushed for details, but Dick declined to discuss his past. "We're a great team. Until I say we're not," Hope said. As he walked away, Dick muttered, "This isn't getting better any time soon." Hearing Dick mumble, Hope asked Dick what he said. "Hope to see you soon!" Dick said cheerily as he walked away. "Sometimes I think he lies," Hope said to herself.
At the hospital, Carly showed Roman a strange red symbol burned into Brady's chest. Back at the Kiriakis mansion, Hope stashed Brady's items in the secret box under her bed. Satisfied, Hope drank a glass of water, then placed the glass back on the tray. Roman called Hope and left her a voicemail notifying her about the mugging. Asleep, Hope did not hear her phone ring. Hope dreamed about leaving the branding mark on Brady's chest, then woke up with a start. Hope talked aloud to herself, noting that she was relieved that although she was still having strange dreams, she was glad she did not remember them.
5/5 At the Kiriakis mansion, Hope awoke in a panic because she'd overslept. She spotted her makeup scattered on the floor, and asked Ciara if she'd gotten into it. Ciara insisted that she hadn't. "Who else could it be?" Hope asked patiently. Ciara replied, "You, Mommy." Hope was puzzled, but sent Ciara back to her own room. As Ciara scampered off, Roman called Hope from the police station and informed her that the mugger had attacked Brady the night before. "And it looks like our mugger friend is targeting people we both know," Roman added.
Roman showed Hope a photograph of the mark the attacker had branded on Brady's chest. Hope recognized it immediately as a symbol for the three Celtic deities of land, sea, and sky. She'd learned while she and Bo were in Ireland that one of them, the goddess Bridget, represented female empowerment. Roman asked if Hope thought the attacker was a woman, but pointed out that E.J. thought he had seen a man. Hope noted that the man had been too far away to hit E.J. in the head, and she left to talk to Brady at the hospital.
When Hope arrived at the hospital, she found Brady and Arianna kissing. Hope apologized for interrupting, but she needed to follow up on Brady's statement. After Arianna left, Hope showed Brady the photograph of his brand, and revealed that the symbol might help her to make an arrest.
5/10 Hope told Abe that increasing patrols would help catch the person behind the muggings. Hope said that according to E.J., there were two people involved, and Hope thought that the symbol that was inked on Brady's chest confirmed that the leader was probably a woman. She showed the Celtic symbol to Abe and explained that it was a sign of female empowerment.
Maggie told Hope that she wouldn't be able to watch Ciara after all, so Hope had no one else to watch Ciara. Hope explained that she didn't want the nanny to watch Ciara overnight with the way that Ciara was acting lately. Abe told her that the case wouldn't necessarily break that night. Hope agreed with Abe and said she would have to assign someone else to the case.
At the Kiriakis mansion, Hope read Ciara a story, and Ciara drifted off to sleep. Hope took her sleeping pills and climbed back into bed next to Ciara. Hope was glad that the stakeout didn't happen that night.
5/11 Hope awakened, escaped detection by Ciara, and left the mansion. Later, Carly had a puzzling encounter with Hope.
Nicole made it clear she knew that Baker was behind the muggings and vowed to turn him in. She refused all pleas for a deal. Later, Nicole called Baker, who was with Hope, and told him they could make a deal, if his next victim was Arianna.
5/12 Dr. Baker was pleading with Hope rather, her alter ego, the mugger not to let him take the fall for their crimes, when the phone in his hotel room rang. It was Nicole, who offered not to turn Baker in, as long as he made Arianna Hernandez his next victim. Baker maintained that his new partner would never go for it, but Nicole ordered him to meet her at the pier immediately. As Baker hung up, Hope warned, "You make sure no one knows who I am, or you're toast."
When Baker met up with Nicole, Hope followed him in the shadows to make sure he did as he was told. While she was spying, however, a frightened Ciara called Hope. "Mommy, I woke up and you weren't here," Ciara cried. Hope promised that she would go home right away.
When Hope arrived at her bedroom at the Kiriakis mansion, she apologized to Ciara for not being home, but explained that she'd been working. Ciara declared that she was thirsty, so Hope left to get a glass of water for her daughter.
"Oh, it's going to be more like a war than a fight," Hope announced as she arrived from upstairs. She added that they could all learn something from Nicole, who always got what she wanted. Hope then wished Arianna luck in doing battle with Nicole. Arianna was surprised that she and Hope felt the same way about Nicole, but Hope maintained that she merely didn't want to see Nicole hurt any more people. Hope then alluded to the torch that Brady still carried for Nicole.
Brady indignantly reminded Hope that he was going to marry Arianna, and he resented Hope's implication. After apologizing to both Brady and Arianna for her cynicism, Hope noted that she was exhausted from working such long hours-and since Gabi had given Nicole an alibi, Hope was no closer to solving the muggings. Brady asserted that while Nicole might be capable of conking guys over the head, he didn't believe she would ever brand someone. Hope admitted that part scared her, because she feared that the perpetrator was just getting started.
Hope delivered Ciara's water, and asked how Ciara was getting along with a little boy at school. "He was mean to me," Ciara complained. "And now he's friends with Sadie." As Hope kissed her daughter goodnight, she cautioned, "The problem with people is that they can always let you down."
5/17 Hope looked at the picture of the Celtic symbol that her alter ego had drawn on Brady when Ciara ran into the room. Hope asked why Ciara was so happy, and Ciara said that Hope made her happy when they had their talk. Hope wanted to know what talk she was referring to, and Ciara asked if Hope remembered.
Hope tried to get Ciara to tell her what she had said when Justin walked in. He asked if Ciara still wanted to go to the movies the next week, and Ciara was excited. Justin had stopped by to drop off some papers for Victor, and Hope asked if Justin could stay for a while, and he agreed to wait for her. When Hope returned, she told Justin that Ciara had created a fantasy mother to fulfill her needs because Hope wasn't there for her.
Justin said he was worried about Hope, because she hadn't been acting like herself for a while. She asked him who she was. Hope believed that her life had veered off course when Ciara was kidnapped. She said the problem was that she and Bo handled the kidnapping two different ways. She surmised that the kidnapping had triggered what Hope thought was Ciara's odd behavior.
Hope said that she felt powerless when she heard that Justin had been attacked. Justin said that seeing her sitting next to him when he woke up then made him feel like everything was all right. Hope said she realized how important Justin was to her. Justin was happy to hear that, but Hope also warned him that she needed more time and she was busy working on the case of who mugged Justin.
Hope was eager to solve the case before Bo returned, and Justin wanted the same thing, because that would mean Hope would have more time with him. Hope left the Kiriakis mansion to meet Dr. Baker. Dr. Baker said that his partner had issues. Nicole was eager to meet his partner, but he assured her that she would never meet his partner. Hope was outside the door and overheard Nicole and Dr. Baker talking.
5/18 At the secret poker room, Dick attempted to dodge Nicole's questions. "You have weird taste, Dick. And I cannot wait to meet this mental case you butted up with. So spill. Who's this mystery partner?" Nicole asked. Just outside the room, Hope arrived and listened to the conversation but remained hidden in the hallway. "Why don't you just give this up?" Dick returned. Nicole refused to relent and continued to push Dick to tell him who his partner was. Dick warned Nicole that his partner was dangerous and that Nicole should drop her investigation. Stumped, Nicole started to leave.
Startled, Hope pulled out her gun and prepared to shoot Nicole as she opened the door. As the door began to swing open, Dick called out to Nicole and asked her whether Arianna had an alibi for the evening. Nicole assured Dick that she would make sure Arianna did not have an alibi. As Nicole headed for the doorway, Hope sneaked down the hallway out of sight.
When Hope entered the poker room after Nicole left, she commented that she was unaware that she was working with "the famous" Dr. Baker, baby stealer. "You betrayed me. Not a smart move," Hope announced. Hope explained that she overheard Dick promise to help Nicole frame Arianna for the muggings. Dick explained that Nicole learned he was a part of the muggings and that he needed to help Nicole in order to protect them. "She's gonna turn us in," Dick said. Hope interrupted to remind Dick that there was no "us."
"You cross me and your fate will be far worse," Hope threatened. "I am in control and I will not allow another woman to take the fall for us. Do you understand? Am I making myself clear?" Hope said. Dick assured Hope that he was humoring Nicole and that he had no intention of framing Arianna for the muggings. When Hope asked whether she could trust Dick, he explained that if Nicole informed on him to the police then he would tell the police that she attempted to frame Arianna for the crime. Dick explained that Brady would be angry with the allegation, which Nicole would want to avoid.
When Hope noted that Nicole was a fool to trust Brady, Dick asked Hope why she was targeting men and branding them with a "women power symbol." "I have taken control. I will never let another man ruin my life. Not ever," Hope commented. Brushing off her melancholy, Hope announced that she had a problem to take care of and left.
5/19 Roman was closing the pub, and as he locked the front door and started walking to his car, Hope bashed him over the head. Roman knocked over a wire trashcan as he fell to the ground. While Hope put her gun away, Dr. Baker donned a pair of latex gloves, which he explained were so he didn't leave behind any evidence. He rifled through Roman's pockets until he found the police commander's wallet. Hope marked the inside of an unconscious Roman's wrist with the same swirled, Celtic symbol of female empowerment that she'd branded on Brady's chest, and then announced that it was time to leave.
After Hope rushed off, Baker quickly rolled a flashlight, which Nicole had planted Arianna's fingerprints on, under a nearby bench, and then hurried after Hope. Carly found Roman right after Hope and Dr. Baker had left, and immediately called for an ambulance. Nicole, Brady, Arianna, and Caroline showed up within seconds of each other, followed shortly by the paramedics, the police, and Abe. Carly gave her statement to Officer Jenkins, including a description of the assailant she'd seen running away-who also fit Arianna's general description. Nicole spotted the flashlight in Jenkins' hand and smiled to herself that her plan was working!
In the park, Baker was disappointed to find only sixty dollars in Roman's wallet, and declared to Hope that he was calling the shots from then on. As an incentive to keep playing along, Hope offered to let Baker keep all the money they made. She then lightly slapped him on both cheeks and told him to stop whining.
Carly took Caroline back to the pub, and Caroline put water on for tea. Carly recounted the conversation she'd recently had with Hope, during which Hope had stated that she didn't blame Carly anymore, and had seemed much less angry. An exasperated Caroline retorted, "Of course she's angry. She's not blaming you; she's blaming Bo, so now my son is evil, right?"
Hope arrived home to the Kiriakis mansion, and poured herself a glass of whiskey. Sipping it contemplatively, she told herself, "So close to my ultimate target." She then stashed Roman's wallet in her box under the bed with all the others. "Poor Bo," Hope whispered to herself. "He's not gonna know what hit him."
5/20 When Carly got home, she was surprised when Bo walked through the door shortly thereafter. Bo kissed Carly, and afterwards, Carly asked him why he didn't call. He said he wanted to surprise her. She asked whether the transplant surgeon cleared him to drive, and he said he was a "model patient." Carly asked how Kim was, and he said that the bone marrow transplant was successful, because the biopsy showed healthy cells and no sign of cancer. Carly was relieved. Carly told Bo about Roman's attack, and they both went to the hospital.
Hope was fast asleep when the phone rang. She answered it, and it was Abe, who told her about Roman being mugged and branded like Brady was. Abe told her about the evidence that they collected and sent to the lab. Hope got up to get dressed and meet Abe at the hospital.
When Hope arrived, Brady tried to convince her of Arianna's innocence. Hope pointed out that the two victims that were marked were the ones that Arianna knew the best. After Hope left to find Abe, Brady told Arianna that Hope was keeping an open mind. Brady tried to reassure Arianna, and Nicole said that the police often tried to pin a crime on someone completely innocent.
When Bo and Carly arrived at the hospital, Bo asked Abe where Roman was. Bo looked over and saw Hope leaving Roman's room. Hope told Bo, "Welcome back," and asked how Kim was. He said Kim was doing well and wanted to thank Hope about the phone calls, flowers, and bears that she sent. Bo asked about the case, and Hope mentioned the significance of the Celtic symbol. Bo asked if Hope thought that a woman was involved. Hope asked to speak to Bo privately, because she needed to question Arianna.
Hope told Nicole to stop and wanted to meet them at the station to review her statement. Bo asked if Hope needed him. Carly asked if Hope needed to speak to her. Hope said that they already had Carly's statement, and Bo told Carly that if Hope had any more questions, Hope would call Carly. Hope told Bo that she had everything under control.
At the police station, Hope told Brady that Arianna wasn't going anywhere. Hope said that Arianna didn't have an alibi when Roman was attacked or during the other attacks. Hope pointed out that Arianna and Brady had an argument the night that Brady was attacked. Hope asked if Arianna had seen Roman the night that he was attacked, and Arianna said she hadn't seen him. Hope said that hair matching Arianna's coloring was found at the scene of the crime, so she asked for a hair sample. Arianna asked what would happen if there were a match, and Hope said she would have to arrest Arianna.
5/24 Bo and Daniel talked about the status of the police investigation into who had mugged Roman. Bo told Daniel that the police were questioning Arianna, but Bo didn't believe that she was guilty. Bo asked for the details about why things didn't go well with Carly staying at Daniel's place. Daniel said that Chloe had a problem with Carly staying at their place, and sometimes Chloe got emotional.
Hope asked Brady if he knew about Arianna's record. He said he knew about her record as a drug dealer, but Hope was talking about her record as a juvenile. Hope said that before Arianna turned 18, she had multiple charges for assault and robbery. That news came as a surprise to Brady. Hope said that Arianna ran with a gang in her youth, and that gang assaulted people, using an M.O. close to the one in the case that they were investigating. Nicole pretended to defend Arianna to Brady. Hope asked Nicole to leave the room.
Hope and Brady entered the room, so Gabi excused herself. Hope showed Arianna the envelope. Arianna explained that her boyfriend at the time lied about what she did to get his time reduced. She said she didn't mug anyone then or recently. Hope said things looked bad for Arianna. Arianna said her records were supposed to be sealed from the time before she turned 18. Brady asked if he needed to call for an attorney for Arianna. Hope said that wasn't necessary, because once the test results were in on the evidence, things would turn out in her benefit.
Brady asked why Arianna didn't tell him. She said that she was upfront with him about the stuff that she felt counted, but she wanted to know why the charges that were filed when she was a teenager had to matter in this case. Brady said it didn't matter to him, because he knew she was innocent, and he loved her. He said she could trust him with anything in the world. She said she would never keep anything from him again. Hope told Arianna that the hair fibers found on Roman belonged to Arianna.
Hope read Arianna her rights and arrested her. Nicole watched from the other room. Arianna thought that Brady didn't believe Arianna's innocence. Brady tried to talk, but she cut him off and said she could tell by the look in his eyes that he didn't believe her. Hope led Arianna away. Nicole told Brady that she was sorry.
When Carly got back to Bo's house, he noticed something was wrong, but she said nothing was wrong as long as she was with him. Bo gave Carly a foot rub, and they started making out.
The nanny tucked Ciara into Hope's bed. When the nanny left, Ciara got out of bed, pulled out Hope's box from under the bed and looked in one of the wallets at Brady's ID.
5/25 Bo made breakfast for Carly, but before he could surprise her with French toast, Carly ran downstairs and met Bo in the living room. Overjoyed to have Bo back in town, Carly set aside the tray of food and pulled Bo into a passionate kiss. With a wicked smile on her face, Carly started to unbutton Bo's shirt. As they leaned back against the table, they knocked a package onto the floor Noticing the label on the package, Bo realized that the package was one he sent to Ciara from California.
Carly informed Bo that she had spoken to Hope while he was out of town and that they had reached an understanding. "She told me that she has no ill will towards me," Carly said with a cautious smile. "Maybe she's turning a corner?" Bo wondered aloud. Bo asked Carly what else Hope had said, but Carly concluded, "You probably don't want to know."
Down at the pier, Hope coached Ciara to be careful when hugging her father in case he was still sore from his surgery. Ciara agreed to be careful and then she informed Hope that she had a treasure box, just like her mother. Confused, Hope asked Ciara what treasure box she was talking about. Ciara explained that the box was under Hope's bed and that it contained "treasure from other people."
When Hope arrived at Bo's house with Ciara, an elated Bo gathered Ciara into his arms and hugged her. Carly excused herself in order to go to work, then walked past a silent Hope. Bo gave Ciara her package, and she excitedly unwrapped the snow globe he bought her at the hospital. "I can put it in my treasure box," Ciara exclaimed. Ciara commented that Hope had a treasure box too. With a raised eyebrow, Hope urged Ciara to go upstairs and collect some books and toys to take back to the Kiriakis mansion.
Once Ciara was upstairs, Bo thanked Hope for bringing Ciara by to see him. When Bo asked how she was doing, a worried Hope responded, "I'm fine. Our little girl, not so much." Noting the look of worry on Bo's face, Hope explained that Ciara seemed to need help. Bo offered to talk to Ciara and apologized to Hope for any undue stress. Once Hope was gone, Bo called Ciara downstairs to talk.
Noting the look of worry on Ciara's face, Bo assured his daughter that he was not mad at her. Bo asked Ciara whether she was looking through Hope's things without asking. When Bo asked Ciara about Hope's makeup, Ciara denied using it but suggested that Vivian might have used it. Moving on, Bo asked Ciara about Hope's treasure box. As Ciara started to tell Bo what was in the box, his cell phone began to ring, and he asked Ciara to "hold that thought." Bo looked at his cell phone and read a text message announcing that there was something wrong with Victor.
Hope visited Arianna in her cell and assured her that she was striving to help. Despondent, Arianna fought back tears and said that she resented that people were thinking she was a "man-hater" who branded people. "Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned," Hope remarked. "I'm not a woman scorned. I'm engaged to a wonderful man who..." Arianna said before falling silent. Hope gently patted Arianna's hand to comfort her, and then pulled out the photo of the brand. Hope asked Arianna if she had ever tagged anyone when she ran with a gang in her youth.
After Arianna admitted that she did, Hope noted that the symbol branded onto Brady was one that was popular with Arianna's former gang. "Just a coincidence?" Hope asked. Arianna explained that she was not in touch with anyone from the gang since she turned state's evidence. "I'm a good person and I love Brady, and this whole thing is absolutely ridiculous!" Arianna exclaimed. "I just want you to know that I believe that these attacks are a cry for help," Hope said quietly.
5/26 Bo, Philip, Daniel, and Brady all arrived at the Kiriakis mansion within seconds of each other, followed almost immediately by Maggie and Melanie. When Vivian joined the group in the parlor and cheerily thanked them all for arriving so quickly, the men demanded to know what was going on, and where Victor was. Vivian began stammering a somewhat sheepish explanation, but then a perfectly healthy looking Victor arrived. "What is all this racket?" he demanded. "And what are you all doing here? Why are you all looking at me like that?"
Bo explained that they'd all received a text message from Henderson. Victor irritably pointed out, "Henderson can't text. He's still getting used to the push button phone!" Victor had even more reason to be irritable when Nicole arrived. He began shouting up the stairs for an explanation from Henderson, but Vivian stopped him and admitted that she had sent the text messages from Henderson's phone.
Vivian just wanted everyone there, she explained happily, "Because Victor and I are getting married today!" While Victor was reading Vivian the riot act for getting his family members under false pretenses, and for surprising him, Chloe rushed in, with Carly right behind her. They were startled to see the large group gathered there, so Bo explained what was going on.
As Victor poured himself a scotch, he growled at Vivian, "Did you really think this was going to work out well for you?" Vivian asserted that they had been planning to get married for a while, but since Victor's family had objected, she'd thrown a surprise wedding so they could all be there. Victor addressed the group gloomily: "You can all go home now. I may have to be subjected to this debacle, but you don’t none of you. None of you deserves this." He strode out of the room.
In the parlor, Bo couldn't believe that Vivian had the gall to spring a wedding on a man who hated surprises. Carly urged Bo to call off his deal with Victor, who had agreed to "neutralize" Vivian by marrying her, and in return, Bo had agreed not to kill Vivian. Bo noted that all Victor had to do to get off the hook was hand over the evidence from Vivian's attempts to kill Melanie, so Vivian would go to prison, where she would no longer be a threat to Carly. Carly pleaded with Bo to stop talking about protecting her by killing Vivian, and to think about his daughter. "Okay, I guess dear old Dad's gonna get married today," Bo conceded. Carly wanted to know if Bo really wanted to stick around and watch that happen.
As everyone decided to leave, they met up in the foyer as they made their respective exits. Bo asked Philip, Brady, and Daniel to stay behind, so Bo could fill them in on some details they didn't know.
5/28 In the riverfront park in Salem, Hope praised Ciara for getting a gold star in ice skating. Ciara wanted to put the gold star in her treasure box right away, and Hope agreed to drop by Victor's on their way to Ciara's sleepover. Hope asked if she could look in Ciara's treasure box. Ciara refused, declaring that it was private, like the one Hope had.
Hope patiently reminded Ciara that she didn't have a treasure box, but Ciara insisted that she'd seen it under Hope's bed. Hope suggested that Ciara show her the treasure box after her sleepover, and the little girl nodded enthusiastically. Hope realized that she had a message on her cell phone that she hadn't noticed before, and after she checked it, she hurriedly led Ciara out of the park.
In the parlor, Bo explained to Philip, Brady, and Daniel that after Vivian tried to kill Melanie, Bo had demanded that Victor "contain" Vivian-but Bo had never thought Victor would actually marry her. Bo added that since the wedding was partially his fault, he had to stay, but the others could leave. Daniel asserted that if they watched Victor marry Vivian, it was like they approved of everything she'd done.
Bo arrived outside. Bo thanked Melanie for everything she was doing for the family, and then admitted that he'd screwed up by setting the wedding in motion. Melanie teased Bo about owning up to his mistake, and joked that if he were trying to get on her good side because of Carly, he was off to a good start. Bo laughed and led her inside.
As Victor and Vivian descended the stairs into the foyer, Victor wasn't the least bit surprised that their guests seemed to have left. Vivian tried to cheer him, but he wasn't interested. Victor opened the doors to the foyer, and was stunned speechless to find everyone waiting for the wedding to begin.
After the guests took their seats in the garden, the justice of the peace began the ceremony. Everyone was politely silent, but there was much eye rolling and raising of eyebrows as the justice intoned the familiar words about "holy matrimony."
Victor startled his bride by asking for Henderson to get him a drink, and then addressing the guests. He told them that it meant a great deal to him that they had stayed to watch him marry a woman who had caused them all so much grief. "And I probably am crazy," he continued. "But I hope you believe me when I say that all I really care about is your happiness... Well, most of you, that is."
Although he admitted he knew that they wanted an explanation, he wasn't going to give one. "Let's get on with it," Victor declared to justice of the peace, and then downed his drink. When prompted, Victor grudgingly placed the ring on Vivian's finger, and then announced, "I need a drink." A mortified Vivian chased after him up the aisle.
The reception got underway in the parlor. Kate and Victor traded more or less good natured barbs about their respective spouses. Melanie noted to Philip that it obviously threw Vivian a little that everyone had stayed. Victor pulled Bo aside and asked, "You happy now?" Bo replied that Vivian should be in jail, not married to Victor. Victor countered that if Vivian belonged in jail, so did Carly. Nicole spotted Chloe frowning across the room, and correctly guessed that Chloe was stewing about Carly.
Nicole called Kate, Carly, and Vivian together so a photographer could take a picture of the four past and present Mrs. Victor Kiriakises. Kate and Carly refused to participate. Indicating the scowls on Victor and Vivian's faces, Nicole noted, "Look how unhappy it makes them." Suddenly Carly and Kate were happy to comply, and as the photographer snapped the picture, each woman was grinning and cheerfully raising her glass except Vivian.
Hoping for a sympathetic ear, Victor sought out Maggie, but she turned to him furiously. "You defied everyone and married that woman," Maggie pointed out. "And then you made very sure that she didn't enjoy one second of her wedding!" She maintained that Victor had behaved like a "cranky little boy" who had deliberately set out to hurt Vivian's feelings. Before walking away, Maggie declared that Vivian was an idiot to have married Victor.
Daniel clinked his glass several times, and when he had everyone's attention, announced that he and Chloe were getting married very soon. The crowd cheered and raised their glasses to Chloe. Bo and Carly walked over to offer their congratulations, and Carly glared pointedly at Chloe during the entire conversation.
Vivian giddily announced that it was time to throw the bouquet, and asked the single ladies to follow her into the foyer. As they all gathered, Vivian hinted to Chloe, "You just stand right over here and leave everything to me!" Giggling, Vivian climbed up a few stairs, and then turned to toss her bouquet. Just then, Hope and Ciara opened the front door, and watched as the bouquet landed squarely in the hands of a horrified Carly.
5/31 Hope and Ciara were walking up to the Kiriakis mansion when Ciara noticed that there were a lot of cars parked outside. Hope didn't know why the cars were there, but she assured Ciara that things would be okay. Vivian asked the ladies to follow her, and Bo made a joke about Vivian taking Chloe up on the roof. Vivian announced that it was time to throw the bouquet. The ladies gathered in the foyer, and Vivian tossed the bouquet randomly to Carly just as Hope walked in with Ciara.
Bo explained to Hope that he had received a text from Henderson, which was actually from Vivian, because Vivian wanted to throw a surprise wedding. Hope looked over at Carly and asked Bo if there were any more surprises that Hope should know about. Ciara pointed out to Hope that Carly caught the bouquet, and she asked Bo if that meant that Carly was going to marry Bo. Hope explained to Bo that the situation with him and Carly was hard on Ciara. Bo said he knew, and Hope said, "No. No, you don't."
Bo told Hope that Ciara said she didn't use Hope's lipstick, and Bo could tell that Ciara wasn't lying. Hope said that Ciara believed the stories that she was making up. Hope said that for instance, she didn't have the "treasure box" that she insisted was under the bed. Ciara overheard Hope saying that she didn't have the box, but Ciara said that Hope did have the box, because Ciara saw it.
Bo thought maybe Ciara saw something that looked like a treasure box, but Ciara said she wasn't lying, that Hope was. Ciara asked if Bo believed her. Bo told Ciara that he needed to talk to Hope alone. "Nobody ever believes me," Ciara said and ran off. Bo questioned Hope, and asked why Ciara would ever lie about seeing a treasure box when it was easy to disprove. Hope asked if Bo thought that Hope was lying.
Vivian said hello to Ciara and Justin, and Ciara told Vivian that she looked pretty. Vivian said that was the nicest thing anyone had said to her all day. Justin volunteered to look upstairs for Victor while Justin helped Ciara pack her things for a sleepover.
Bo told Hope that he didn't think Hope was lying. Hope said that according to the therapist, children acted out in different ways. Bo asked if cutting up Carly's clothes was an example. Hope suggested they go up to her bedroom, look under the bed, and see if there was a treasure box. Bo looked under the bed and found the box that Ciara was referring to. Hope said she didn't remember seeing it. Bo pointed out that it wasn't her house. Bo opened it up.
6/1 At the Kiriakis mansion, Bo and Hope opened the "treasure box" hidden under her bed. When Bo and Hope looked inside the box, they found it was empty. Bo noted that the box had to be the same one that Ciara was talking about. "Where's the secret treasure?" Bo wondered aloud. Downstairs, Ciara pulled the collection of wallets out of her backpack and arranged them on a chair in front of her. "These are my secrets now," Ciara said as she placed the wallets back into her backpack.
Upstairs, Hope noted that the box was proof that Ciara was making up stories. "Where would she come up with a story like that?" Bo wondered aloud. Bo assured Hope that they would help their daughter together. When Bo put his hand on Hope's shoulder to calm her, Hope asked him not to act concerned with her. Bo started to tell Hope that he cared about her, and Hope interrupted to warn Bo that his expressions of concern for her were too painful because he had moved on with Carly.
After reminding Hope that Ciara had a sleepover planned for that evening, Bo asked Hope if he could cancel the sleepover and take Ciara home with him. Hope agreed that it would be good for Ciara and Bo to spend some time together. When Bo asked Hope how she was doing, Hope admitted that she was tired and was planning on going to bed soon. With a smile on his face, Bo noted that Hope was still reading the same book she had been for a while. Hope admitted that though the book was boring, she was determined to finish it. "Stubborn as ever. Glad to see some things never change," Bo said sweetly.
Ciara ran into Hope's room and announced that she was ready to go. "You have everything you need?" Hope asked. Clutching her backpack to her chest, Ciara said, "Yep. It's all right here." Bo took Ciara by the hand, led her down the hallway, and left Hope alone in her bedroom. Hope took one of her pills and went to bed.
When Bo arrived home with Ciara, he encouraged his daughter to be polite to Carly. As Ciara sat on the couch, Bo took Carly aside and updated her on Ciara's issues with Hope. Bo expressed his desire to bond with his daughter and help her work through her problems. Bo asked Carly to watch Ciara while he called Caroline to inform her about Victor's latest marriage. Once Bo was upstairs, Carly asked Ciara about what she had in her bag. When Carly reached for Ciara's backpack, Ciara pulled the bag away from Carly's reach. "Leave them alone. They're my secrets," Ciara said.
In Hope's bedroom, a knocking sound in the room woke her up. Shaking off sleep, Hope got out of bed and went to the closet. After getting dressed, Hope called Dick and asked if he was up for "some fun." "I'm ready to do some serious damage and I know just the place to go," Hope purred.
6/2 Hope phoned Dick Baker at his hotel room and ordered him to meet her at the pier right away. "It's time to do some serious damage," she declared. "And I know just the place to start." Dick was worried that he was whom she meant when she said "serious damage," but she replied that he would have to meet her to find out. As Hope arrived on the docks, Dick immediately began to apologize, but she pulled a gun on him. "I specifically told you not to frame Arianna Hernandez, and you did it anyway," Hope snapped. "You know what that is? Betrayal.
It can mark the end of a good partnership." Dick argued that once they mugged another guy, Arianna would be exonerated. Hope put her gun away and declared that she was finished with the muggings. "In fact, you and Nicole pulling that little scam, having Arianna arrested?" Hope added. "That could be a nice little red herring for me, Doc." She stated that it was time to go after her real target, and told Dick to follow her if he wanted to find out who that was.
At Bo's, Carly asked Ciara what was in her backpack. Clutching the bag tightly, Ciara declared, "You can't look! They're my secrets." Bo returned from the kitchen just in time to hear Ciara ordering Carly, "Stay away from me." Carly quietly told Bo that it was her fault, and then left the room to give Bo and Ciara some privacy.
Ciara complained that Carly had been trying to see her secret treasures. Bo patiently explained that he hoped since Carly was his good friend, Ciara and Carly could someday be friends, too. Ciara nodded agreement that she would work on that with her dad and Carly. Bo then asked gently if Ciara wanted to tell him what her secret treasures were. She agreed to show him but only him. Bo began playfully unzipping pockets, but found the first ones he opened empty.
A knock at the door interrupted them before Bo found the compartment with Ciara's "treasures" inside. Bo was surprised to find his irate mother on the doorstep. She began excoriating him about Victor's marriage to Vivian, but lowered her voice as soon as she saw Ciara. "How could you let that happen, Bo?" she demanded quietly, but no less angrily.
After Ciara had left the room, Bo pointed out that Victor was his own man and did whatever he wanted. Still furious, Caroline couldn't understand why Victor would marry "that awful woman." "I'm sure he had a good reason," Bo hedged. Caroline refused to accept what Victor had done, but wondered why Bo wasn't as upset as she was. Before Bo could answer, Ciara bounded down the stairs with a picture she'd drawn for her grandma. Ciara then dragged Caroline by the hand into the kitchen so they could bake some cookies.
Hope and Dick arrived outside just in time for her to see Ciara through the window. Dick asked where they were, and Hope's eyes filled with tears. "This place is my home," she whispered. "My husband is inside this house, my house. So is my child." She continued that her husband lived there with another woman, for whom he'd left Hope, and ever since, Hope had been filled with hatred. Dick surmised that Hope had been taking out her hostilities by assaulting all those other men. Hope noted, "But who were they really? Substitutes. Stand-ins. For Bo."
Dick paused in disbelief. "You mean Bo Brady, the police commissioner?" Hope confirmed it, but suddenly noticed through the window that Ciara had returned to the couch and had opened her backpack. As Ciara called out, "Daddy, I'm ready to show you my secret treasures now," she pulled out the wallets she'd taken from the "treasure box" under Hope's bed. Hope exclaimed, "Oh, my God! That little devil, she has them!"
6/3 Hope plotted with Dr. Baker to keep Ciara from showing Bo the wallets. Dr. Baker set off Bo's car alarm to distract Bo. Caroline called Ciara into the kitchen to put the chocolate chips in the cookies. Hope looked up at the sky and said, "I owe you one." Then she sneaked into the house to retrieve the wallets. Bo returned right after Hope slipped out the front door. Bo looked in Ciara's backpack for what she wanted to show him. When Ciara returned to the living room, she told Bo not to peek. He said he already had and there was nothing in it.
Bo and Ciara told Caroline that Ciara's treasures were gone and had disappeared when she went into the kitchen to help Caroline with the cookies. Caroline gave Ciara a rosary that belonged to Caroline's mother. Ciara promised she wouldn't lose it, and she went upstairs to put it away. Bo told Caroline that he didn't know what was going on. Caroline said the girl had a vivid imagination.
Bo thought that Caroline blamed him and Hope for the way Ciara was acting. Caroline denied it and said he had to "roll with the punches." Caroline comforted Bo, but he said that he said much worse to himself. She said that Ciara would be fine. When Ciara returned to the living room, she asked if he knew what happened to her secret treasures. Bo said he didn't, and neither did Ciara.
Hope got a headache, and Dr. Baker noticed that she looked pale. She asked what he was still doing there, because it wasn't the safest place for him to be. He said that he wasn't going anywhere without Hope. She asked if he cared what happened to her. He said he was surprised by that revelation. "If you do, you're the only one who does," she said. She asked if Dr. Baker was staying for her.
Dr. Baker admitted that they had something in common, losing everything. He realized, though, that he had "screwed up everything" all on his own, whereas everything bad happened to Hope. Dr. Baker assured her that she wasn't alone, because she had him.
Bo called Carly and asked if anything was wrong, because she sounded upset. Carly said that she was worried about a patient, but admitted that she was probably overreacting. Bo told Ciara about the treasure he got when he was in the Merchant Marine. He went upstairs to get it.
Meanwhile, Ciara watched from an open window as Hope told Dr. Baker that it was very strange that she believed Dr. Baker when he said that she had him to count on.
6/9 Abe and Theo arrived at Bo's to pick up Ciara for school. After Bo sent Theo and Ciara into the kitchen to look for her lunchbox, he searched the living room for the little girl's homework, which he found under his divorce papers. Abe wondered if Hope knew that Bo had the papers already. Bo pointed out that it was Hope who had wanted the divorce in the first place.
Later, Ciara confided to Theo that she'd seen her mom hugging a man the night before who wasn't her daddy. "He took the treasures from my backpack, and I don't have it anymore," Ciara complained. Theo showed that he understood by parroting back what Ciara told him. "I can't tell my dad," Ciara continued. "He doesn't believe me, he doesn't believe me about anything."
Just then, Abe and Bo returned. "What are you guys talking about?" Bo asked. Ciara explained that she'd just been telling her best friend, Theo, how her treasures got stolen. Bo sent the kids outside to wait for the grownups to take them to school, and Abe remarked that Bo seemed worried about Ciara. Bo acknowledged that he was, especially since she kept talking about things like her secret treasure.
Abe pointed out that kids sometimes changed when their parents split up. He informed Bo that Lexie had confided in him about how angry Hope had seemed recently. Bo confessed that it had caught him off-guard when Hope asked for the divorce, but the longer she stayed away, the more he had begun to realize that the marriage really was over. "I can see that you believe that," Abe acknowledged, but added, "I'm not sure I do."
Julie returned to Maggie's after checking on Alice, and sadly informed Maggie that there had been no change in Alice's condition. Julie didn't think Alice had even recognized her. "Oh, poor Alice," an upset Maggie exclaimed, just as Hope arrived.
"What's wrong with Gran?" Hope wanted to know. Maggie gently reminded her that Alice hadn't been the same since Mickey died. Hope had expected Alice to get better in time, but Maggie no longer believed that would happen. As she wrapped her arms around Hope, Julie admitted sorrowfully, "My darling, our sweet grandmother is slipping away."
As Maggie and Julie discussed calling relatives to let them know about Alice's failing health, Maggie began to sob, because it was so soon after Mickey's death. Maggie made a pot of tea, since that was what Alice had always done, and the three women compared notes about how Alice had always been the one to whom they had gone when they had problems.
"And she did not solve your problems for you," Julie summed up wistfully. "But she would say something that would help you solve them yourself." Maggie recalled how when her marriage to Mickey had been in trouble, Alice had encouraged her to have faith in their love. "Tolstoy said happy families are all the same," Maggie said. "But I think we're the exception." Hope concluded, "Because we have her." Maggie put an arm around Julie and Hope and pulled them close.
Maggie returned to the kitchen, where Julie and Hope were trying to imagine their lives without Alice. As Hope left to visit her grandmother, she became even more upset as she stated, "Whether it's good news or bad news, still my first thought is, 'I gotta tell Bo.'" After Hope had gone, Julie and Maggie concurred that Bo and Hope still belonged together.
As Bo looked over the divorce documents, he recalled a conversation he'd had with Alice after he and Hope had reunited. Alice had never doubted that Hope and Bo would get back together. Bo had happily declared to Alice that he planned to spend the rest of his life with Hope and “Shawn D."
Just then, Hope let herself in. Before she could even begin telling Bo why she was there, Hope began to cry. She moved tentatively closer, but Bo put his arms around her as she sobbed. Finally she managed, "It's Gran. Oh my God, Bo, she’s dying!" Although the news obviously upset him as well, Bo held Hope more tightly as she sobbed, which Carly arrived just in time to witness.
6/10 Carly returned to Bo's house to find Hope crying in Bo's arms. Carly interrupted them and asked if something had happened. Hope excused herself and planned to leave, but Bo told her not to go. Bo explained to Carly that Alice wasn't well. Carly said she was sorry and decided to go back to the hospital. Bo thanked Hope for staying. "I needed to. There's no one else I..." Hope said, her voice trailing off. She told Bo that she was glad he was there for her. Bo assured her that he was there for whatever she needed.
Hope asked what Bo said he needed to talk to Hope about when he had called earlier. Bo looked over in the direction of the divorce papers. Bo said all that mattered was what was going on with Alice. They talked about what Alice meant to them. Bo said he wanted to go see Alice to say goodbye. Hope talked about how people took each other for granted when everything was okay, but that when you were about to lose someone you really loved, you realized how precious they were to you.
Bo went to the Brady Pub and talked to Caroline about Alice. Bo said that Alice was like a grandmother to him. He reminisced on his memories of her. "She always came through for me, even today," Bo said. He said that before Hope stopped by, he had planned to talk to Hope about the divorce papers, but thankfully, he didn't. Then Bo remembered that he had left the divorce papers out on the table at his house.
Jennifer stopped by Bo's house to see Hope. Hope went upstairs to find a photo, and she wanted to talk elsewhere, because the memories of being at the house upset her. Jack called Jennifer, and Jennifer looked for a pen to write down a phone number that Jack had given her. That's when Jennifer noticed the divorce papers. Jennifer tried to hide the papers from Hope at first, but when Hope got back downstairs and asked what Jennifer had in her hands, Jennifer showed the papers to Hope.
6/11 At Bo's, Jennifer apologetically reassured Hope that she had found Bo and Hope's divorce papers by accident, not because she'd been snooping. As Hope glumly looked over the papers, Jennifer stated with concern that she hadn't known that the two of them were divorcing, and she was furious with Bo for pursuing it while Hope's grandmother was dying.
Hope explained that she'd asked Bo for a divorce months before, and when they'd stopped discussing it, she'd assumed he'd forgotten about it. Jennifer surmised that Hope no longer wanted the divorce. Hope asked her cousin not to discuss it with anyone, because the only thing that mattered right then was their family, and their grandmother. Jennifer assured Hope that she wouldn't say anything. They embraced, and then Jennifer left because Hope wanted to head over and spend some time alone with Alice.
At the Brady Pub, Maggie overheard Bo leaving a message for Hope. After he hung up, Maggie urged him to be gentle with Hope. Bo irritably replied that was what he was trying to do: to protect Hope and put her first.
Hope entered Alice's house, and the familiar surroundings evoked fond memories of the no-nonsense advice "Gran" had given Hope about marrying Bo. "You're stubborn, Hope," Alice had asserted. "Did it ever occur to you that you could be wrong?"
Bo was relieved when he arrived at Alice's and found Hope there. "I've been calling all around, looking for you," he said. Bo was clearly uncomfortable as he apologized, explaining that he hadn't meant for her to find the divorce papers, especially while she was going through such a difficult time. Hope tried to reassure him that it was okay. "None of this is okay," he replied.
Hope wanted to be strong for Alice, so Alice didn't worry about her. Hope pulled a tissue out of her purse, and her sleeping pills rolled out. Bo asked about them, and Hope told him that she'd been taking them to help her sleep, but she didn't need them anymore. "My dad and I and Julie are going to rotate shifts, day and night," she explained. "I want to be the best that I can in the time that she has left." Bo offered to help, as well, whenever the family needed him. Hope was grateful that he was there.
When Hope returned from upstairs and reported that Alice was awake, Bo wanted to see her. Hope encouraged him to visit Alice by himself, because the two of them had always had a special friendship-and Hope knew that if anyone could get Alice to smile, it would be Bo. As Bo headed for the stairs, Hope noticed a picture on a side table of her, Bo, and Alice. She picked it up and hugged it tightly to her chest.
Dvd #78B 6/16 Bo was in his living room, on the phone with Hope, when Carly arrived. He promised Hope that he would visit "Mrs. H." later, but urged Hope to get some rest. After he hung up, Carly asked if she could go with him to the Horton house, because she had always loved Alice, but then realized that she was being selfish and presumptuous, since Alice was Hope's family. Bo became choked up as he reminded Carly that Alice had never been judgmental, especially about his feelings for Carly. Carly kissed him and embraced him tenderly. Carly then had to leave to check on a patient.
Bo arrived at the hospital and went into Brady’s room and asked Nicole what the hell happened? They went into the hallway, and he questioned her about what had happened to Brady. Bo believed Nicole had gotten Brady drunk, but she insisted she'd found Brady unconscious on the pier. "Bo, I care about Brady. I would never do this to him," she declared. Bo wondered if perhaps Arianna's arrest and refusal to accept Brady's help had sent him over the edge. Remembering how she'd conspired with Dick Baker to frame Arianna for the muggings, Nicole blurted, "It's all my fault."
Nicole explained that she was supposed to have been Arianna's alibi, but it had fallen through. Bo still couldn't figure out why Brady would get drunk and take a swing at a cop. "That's why I called you," Nicole stated, worried that Brady could end up in jail. "You're his uncle-can't you make this all just go away?" A bit surprised, Bo looked at her thoughtfully. "You really do care about him, don't you?" Nicole admitted that she did, but after seeing Brady so drunk, she'd realized how much he loved Arianna.
Carly found Bo by the nurses' station as he was leaving a message for Victor. As soon as he hung up, she wordlessly went up to him and put her arms around him.
6/17 Doug asked Julie what she was thinking about, and she said that Alice had always been the rock in the family and, no matter what, the "house and grandma was always here, always here to welcome you with open arms." Julie realized she wasn't ready to say goodbye to Alice, and neither was Doug.
6/24 Kayla stopped by the house to see Bo, and she took Kimberly with her to surprise him. Kim told Bo that he helped her get her life back. Kim said it was great for her kids to be around family, because it was tough on them since Kim divorced Shane and even tougher since the kids never saw their father. Kim said it seemed like Shane had dropped off the face of the earth.
Kim got upset thinking about how Shane had been risking his life by trying to save the world while his family suffered. Bo told Kayla that he needed to call Carly, and Kayla asked if Carly was going to the funeral. Bo said she wasn't, and Kayla was pleased. He knew that Kayla disapproved of his relationship with Carly. Since Kayla wasn't there and didn't know what had happened, Bo said that she should suspend judgment. Kayla said she didn't need to have been there to know that Bo and Hope belonged together in their house with Ciara.
Bo tried to explain what happened between Bo and Hope. He said Hope moved out. Kayla defended Hope and said that Hope was "beside herself." Bo said he didn't want Hope to move out, but when she did, he fell in love with Carly, and it changed everything.
Hope cried and worried about who she would turn to since Alice was gone. Doug overheard her and said that she could turn to him. Doug hugged Hope and said he wished he could comfort Hope the way Alice comforted him when Hope's mother was sick. He said Alice had a way of telling the absolute truth in a way that made people feel better. Hope asked Doug to tell her again what Alice said when Hope's mother had died. According to Doug, Alice said that death was only a transition and that life never really ended. Hope said that Alice told her the same thing when Zack died.
Hope could imagine what Alice would tell her, that she and Bo needed to check their egos at the door for the sake of their marriage. According to Doug, Alice thought recently that Bo and Hope would find their way back to each other. Hope asked if Alice knew that Carly was living with Bo in Hope and Bo's house. Doug said that Alice knew, but her money was still on Bo and Hope. He said that the odds might have turned more in Hope's favor.
Hope told Doug not to worry about her. She said she was trying to be like Alice by accepting what she could not change. He asked if that was accepting or giving up. He said that until Alice was sure that she could not change something, Alice "fought like hell" for what she thought was right, and Alice thought that Bo and Hope belonged together.
Hope thought back to when Alice gave Hope earrings from Hope's mother on Hope's wedding day. Hope looked at a mug that said, "Best Grandma ever" and thought to herself that it described Alice accurately. Doug said that Hope's mother lived on in Doug's heart and in Hope's smile, and Alice would live on through her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Doug promised Hope that she would keep on seeing Alice. Hope wished that she had told Alice how sorry she was that she let Alice down.
Jennifer spoke with the priest about Alice's funeral arrangements and learned that Alice had planned her entire funeral service with Rev. McMartin after Mickey had died. Julie felt it would be difficult to plan her own funeral, but she remembered that Alice never backed away from a difficult subject. Julie remembered the time that Alice had helped Julie deal with the custody battle over her son. Jennifer said that God let them have Alice for a long time.
Julie felt that heaven was a brighter, happier place because Alice would be there. Jennifer wondered if Alice knew how much she was loved, and Julie said Alice definitely knew. Abe stopped by Alice's house and expressed his condolences to Julie and Jennifer. Abe said it was hard to imagine life without Alice. He said that Alice took the Carvers under her wing as if they were family. He remembered the time that he arrested Alice.
Jennifer and Hope talked about how much they would miss Alice. Hope couldn't believe that she would be going to Alice's funeral without Bo by her side. Doug and Julie planned to read some of Alice's favorite scriptures from Alice's Bible at Alice's funeral.
6/25 Kayla tried to talk some sense into Bo and convince him that he was making a mistake by being with Carly. She called Carly "nothing but a distraction." Hope stopped by the house to see Bo, and Kayla, Kim, and Roman were there. Roman made an excuse for them to leave Bo and Hope alone.
Hope asked if it was a bad time and if Carly was there. Bo said that Carly was at the hospital. Hope said she needed to see him before she said goodbye to "Gram." She asked if he would say a few words at Alice's funeral. Hope told Bo that she didn't think she could make it through the day without all of her family.
Bo told Hope that she wasn't alone, because she had her family around her, including him. Hope said she knew that the two of them were "no more," and she didn't want him to feel like he needed to do something that he didn't want to do, but she asked if he would sit with her and Ciara. Bo said, "Of course."
The cars arrived at Alice's house to take everyone to the church for the funeral. Lucas lingered behind and looked at Tom's picture. He picked it up and took it with him then took another look at the living room and left for the church. Everyone gathered at the burial site after Alice's funeral. Bo asked how Hope was doing, and she said she was okay.
Kayla told Lexie and Abe that it was a sad way to have a reunion, and Abe wished that Theo had been there, because Theo would have loved to see Kayla.
Jennifer and Hope agreed that they should get the burial portion of the service started. Justin comforted Hope while Caroline, Bo, and Kim watched. Caroline told Bo that Hope should be in Bo's arms.
Caroline told the crowd that whenever she had difficulty with family problems, Caroline turned to the person who could handle the problems. Julie said that Alice didn't approve of all of Julie's life choices, but Alice never stopped loving Julie or wanting what was best for her. Doug said that Alice was a fair and great lady who convinced him to be a responsible husband and father. Maggie said Alice convinced her to step up and try harder. Maggie said that if something was worth fighting for, "you need to get in there and fight."
If it weren't for Alice's encouragement, Lucas said that he wouldn't be alive. He explained that he didn't find out he was a Horton until he was a teenager, but when he did, it was overwhelming. He considered Alice to be "like royalty." He said it was intimidating, exciting, and rewarding to find out that he was related to Alice. Melissa talked about how Alice "knew what you were thinking" sometimes before you thought it, and she had the best advice about boys. Nathan said Alice had the best advice about girls. He said that whenever he and his mother visited, Alice always made them feel loved and at home.
Bo said that "Mrs. H." was a perfect example of "how we should live our lives with love and hard work and honesty and integrity, but most of all with humor." Alice always encouraged him to be good and do what was right, and she would let Bo know when he didn't, Bo said. He said she always advised him to follow his heart. Jennifer said she never could have imagined the day that Alice wouldn't be there, because Alice hated saying goodbye -- "it was always until we meet again." Jennifer said, "Here's to your next adventure, Gram."
Hope said she was at a loss for words. She said that Alice was the woman that Hope aspired to be. "She wasn't just the matriarch of this family, she was a friend. She was someone we trusted and we loved, and she loved us back. She loved us back unconditionally no matter what was happening in our lives," Hope said as she turned to look at Bo. Hope said she knew that Alice would look out for them for the rest of the days of their lives.
Lucas placed a picture of Tom in the corner of Alice's framed picture. Mourners placed yellow roses on top of Alice's coffin. Bo told Ciara to go with Doug and Julie while he hung out at the church for a while. Shane showed up and said "hey" to Kim. Kim got upset and said that he didn't get to just "sneak up on somebody and say hey." She walked off and told Bo that she would see him back at the house. Bo shook hands with Shane, and Shane expressed his condolences to Bo and Hope.
6/28 Hope asked if Bo was going back to Alice's house, because Alice would have wanted her there. Bo said of course he would be there. Hope noticed a rose had fallen from the coffin and tried to pick it up. Bo reached for it at the same time, and he ended up grabbing Hope's hand. They looked at each other as they held hands. Hope let go of the flower and told him that she would see him back at the house. Bo thought about the time that Alice gave him advice. Bo said he would miss Alice and could really use her advice.
Hope walked into the living room at Alice's house as Julie told the family how Alice rescued dogs from the shelter. Hope said that Alice saved her and Bo, also, more than once. Bo walked in, and Ciara asked Hope to tell her about when Alice had saved Hope and Bo. Hope told Ciara about when she and Bo were on the run and Alice helped them. Ciara told Hope that she wished "Great Grandma could save you two now."
Bo looked on as Kayla told Hope that it was obvious that she and Bo still loved and needed each other. Hope didn't want to talk about it, and Kayla asked Hope to "stop the nonsense" and get back together. Hope told Kayla that getting back together was more complicated than just wanting it or saying they should because a lot had happened. Kayla said she knew that, but she said that someone had to make the first move. Kayla thought it was significant that Bo went to Alice's house and did not take Carly with him, because he knew that Hope would be there.
Nathan announced to the family that he had found a video titled "special day" in Alice's things. Jennifer said she tried to call Mike at the hospital, but there was no answer. Melissa suggested the doctors were probably just running more tests, and Stephanie said it was a good thing that Mike wasn't more badly hurt. Nathan played the tape, and it was Alice and Tom's vow renewal ceremony. Bo watched Hope as she got choked up while watching it.
Carrie said goodbye to Roman and Bo. She asked Bo to visit her in Switzerland. She said he and Hope would love it. Theo asked Ciara if she had found her treasures. Ciara said that he treasures were wallets, and they disappeared the same day that Hope was hugging a strange man. Hope overheard her and scolded Ciara for making up stories. Hope told Ciara not to make up any more stories about anyone, including Hope. Ciara said she wasn't making up stories and that Hope never believed her. Ciara ran to Bo.
Dr. Baker read an article about Alice's death and saw Hope identified as Alice's granddaughter. He observed no wonder he hadn’t heard from Hope.
Bo told Roman that the evidence supported Arianna's guilt, but Roman insisted that there was no way she was involved in the muggings. Hope overheard them talking. Bo told Roman that since he was back, he would take a closer look at the case. Hope got upset and told Bo that he was not taking the case away from her. Hope told Bo that the evidence was "rock solid," and she accused Bo of not trusting her.
Bo denied that, but said the case hadn't been solved, and Hope "obviously" needed help. Hope got angry and defensive. Bo told her to calm down. He said that Hope was under a lot of stress with their marriage troubles, Ciara, and then Alice's death. Hope asked if he thought that just because she had tragedy and loss in her life that she couldn't do her job well.
Doug and Julie returned with Ciara to find her coloring books and crayons. Bo said goodbye to Ciara, Doug, Julie, and then Hope. Doug told Hope that he and Julie would drive Ciara home so that Hope could "hang out for a bit." Julie could tell that something was wrong with Hope. Julie mentioned the sleeping pills that Hope had been taking, and Hope said she hadn't taken the pills while staying at Alice's, but she felt sleepy and needed to get a good night's sleep. After everyone left, Hope went to the living room at Alice's house one more time and looked at a picture of Alice. She took the picture with her and cried as she looked around one last time.
7/6 On the pier, Jennifer told Carly that she was returning to London that night. Jennifer wanted to talk to Carly about Bo and Hope. Carly insisted that Bo had struggled to make his marriage work. Jennifer was worried that Carly would only get hurt, because Hope would always be an issue in Carly's relationship with Bo. Carly observes that Jennifer thinks Bo will leave Carly for Hope. Jennifer admits she doesn’t know, but Bo and Hope will always be connected and not just because of Ciara. Jennifer doesn’t think Carly is seeing things very clearly. Carly acknowledged that she was already aware of Hope and Bo's deep connection, and Carly would just have to learn to live with it.
Bo was at home, helping Ciara find just the right crayon for the picture she was working on. He stumbled across his and Hope's divorce papers and was gazing glumly at them, just as Hope arrived. After giving her daughter a big hug, Hope asked the little girl to play upstairs for a few minutes. Ciara headed for her room somewhat grudgingly.
Bo asked how Hope had been doing since her grandmother's funeral, and suggested that she take a few days off work. Hope insisted that she needed to keep working to stay focused. She then declared that she was not pleased that Arianna had been released on bail. Bo didn't believe that Arianna was guilty-and even if she were, she wasn't stupid enough to attack again. Hope asserted that Arianna's need to mug men was more of a compulsion than a need for cash. Hope theorized that because Arianna felt like powerful, authoritarian men had always run her life, she had only attacked men like that.
Bo countered that E.J. was one of those men, and E.J. would not be defending Arianna if he thought she was guilty. When Hope made a disdainful remark about men's egos, Bo noted that she seemed to be harboring some anger toward men and maybe she was a little too close to the case. Hope conceded that Bo might be right, but she was worried that he could be next on the mugger's list-and the violence was escalating.
Hope then noted that Bo had been looking at the divorce papers when she'd arrived, and acknowledged that they needed to discuss the divorce. Bo assured her that there was no rush, because she was still grieving. "You've moved on. I need to find a way to move on myself," Hope stated. "And I think this means we move on with the divorce."
Carly arrived just then. "Hey, I'm home," she announced before she saw that Hope was there. Carly quickly apologized for interrupting, and offered to leave. Hope declined, maintaining that she and Bo were finished talking, and then went upstairs to get Ciara. After Hope and Ciara left, Carly tried to apologize to Bo, but he reminded her that she lived there, and Hope was aware of that. He then informed Carly that Hope wanted to go ahead with the divorce, but he thought the timing was odd since Hope had just lost her grandmother.
Carly wondered if Bo were having second thoughts, and asserted, "No one should have to go through something as horrible as a divorce unless they're absolutely sure. So maybe I'm the one who needs to step back." Bo stated that he agreed with Hope that it was time to move on, because they'd been "in limbo" far too long. Carly pointed out that Hope had been behaving strangely since before Mrs. Horton had passed away. She reminded Bo of the conversation Hope had with Carly while Bo was gone.
She noted that Hope had been warm and forgiving then, but when Bo had returned, Hope had acted like the conversation had never happened. Carly asked Bo if she were overstepping by pointing that out to him. He didn't think she was, but he admitted that he wasn't really comfortable discussing Hope with Carly anymore. Carly understood, but when she remembered her earlier conversation with Jennifer, she got up and kissed Bo passionately.
When Hope and Ciara arrived at the Kiriakis mansion, Ciara was thrilled to find her Uncle Justin in the parlor. He informed the little girl that there were fresh cookies in the kitchen, and after getting permission from her mom, Ciara rushed off to sample them. Justin noted that Hope seemed exhausted, and offered to read Ciara a story and put her to bed, while Hope got some rest. A very grateful Hope wished Justin a good night and headed upstairs.
After Ciara had taken her bath, she showed Justin a picture she'd drawn. He declared that it would look nice in his room. "That's a dollar," she informed him. Justin stifled a chuckle and told her to autograph the picture while he got his wallet. "You can't-you lost it," Ciara replied. Justin asked how she knew that. "'Cause Mommy had it," she replied.
In her bedroom, Hope put on her pajamas and contemplated her bottle of sleeping pills. "I need a good night's sleep," she told herself, and then washed down a pill with a glass of water. Later, after she'd gotten into bed, she opened her eyes and looked around. She threw the covers off, went into her closet, and pulled a black dress off the rack. "Time to get on with it," she declared.
7/7 At the Kiriakis mansion, Ciara startled Justin when she told him that her mommy had his wallet and wallets belonging to other men under her bed. Justin asked the tot to keep working on her drawing while he went upstairs to talk to her mom.
Upstairs, Hope was dressed in black pants and a black blouse, her hair partially swept up. After she put on red lipstick, she phoned Dick. "I'm back," she declared in a singsong voice when he answered. "Did you miss me?" She asked him to meet her at the "same place as usual," because she had big plans for the two of them. She picked up her purse and opened her bedroom door, only to find Justin on the other side of it, about to knock.
Hope explained that she had been trying to sleep, but her mind wouldn't stop racing, so she'd decided to take a walk to clear her head. Justin informed her of what Ciara had just told him about the wallets. Hope flipped out, and reminded Justin that she'd told him about how Ciara had been lying to get attention. Justin asserted that Ciara's manner had been so casual that he didn't think she was lying. "You think it's me-you think I'm lying?" Hope demanded angrily.
Justin assured her that he was only worried about Ciara. Hope maintained that Ciara was the only thing she cared about, adding that she'd hoped the child was getting better. Justin wondered how Ciara could have invented such a tale, and Hope concurred. Justin offered to try to find out whether Ciara's story had some basis in reality. Suddenly, Hope grabbed him and kissed him passionately.
Adrienne dropped by to see Justin, and was surprised to find Ciara all by herself in the parlor. After raving about the little girl's drawing, Adrienne asked if Ciara knew where Justin was. "He's up in Mommy's room," Ciara replied.
Adrienne stopped dead in her tracks at the sight of Hope and Justin locked in an embrace. Hope saw Adrienne in the doorway and pulled away from Justin, and Adrienne hastily apologized and tried to leave. Hope stopped her, insisting that Justin had only been comforting her.
Adrienne acknowledged that it had been a rough day for Hope, and explained that she'd only dropped by because she needed Justin's signature on some papers from Dubai.
Hope urged Justin to take care of the papers, and assured him that she would be fine after a good night's sleep. Hope warmly wished Justin and Adrienne a good night, but when she closed her bedroom door, the smile instantly dropped from her face, and she expressed her annoyance that they had kept her from her "end game."
A few minutes later, Hope crept down the stairs, and after checking to make sure Justin and Adrienne were occupied in the parlor, she quietly left out the front door.
Hope found Dick waiting for her when she arrived at the basement home of the poker game. She gave him a light slap on the cheek, and explained that she'd had some personal business to deal with-but she was back. Dick admitted that his life hadn't been the same without her-and that he'd been worried about her. He added that he could kill her ex for hurting her.
"Don't you worry," Hope purred, stroking Dick on the chin. "He's gonna pay for what he did to me." She then wrote out a list of things she wanted him to get for her, and Dick read over it with alarm. "If you're gonna do with this what I think you are," Dick stated, then asked, "Are you sure about this?" Hope explained in a whisper that Dick wouldn't have to worry about her anymore, "Because the problems I had with that man will finally be laid to rest."
7/14 Carly called Bo from the hospital and told him that she was on her way home. As soon as Bo had hung up, Justin knocked at the front door. Justin announced that he wanted to talk to Bo about Hope. As Bo reluctantly admitted his cousin, Justin explained, "Hope's not doing as well on her own as you seem to think she is. She needs somebody by her side and I want to be that guy." Bo scoffed at Justin's assertion that Hope thought of Justin as more than anything but a friend.
Ignoring him, Justin declared that as soon as Hope was ready to move on, he would be there. "So now I know," Bo replied with forced casualness. Justin wondered why it was all right for Bo to move on with someone new, but not for Hope to. Bo warned Justin not to pressure Hope.
As Carly entered, unseen, Justin exasperatedly asserted, "Hope is trying to get over you! If you still care about her, you won't stand in her way."
Bo insisted, "Of course I care about her."
Both men noticed Carly then, and Justin made a hasty exit. Carly remarked evenly that it seemed to really bother Bo that Hope might be moving on with Justin. Bo maintained that it was Justin's attitude that bugged him. Carly sympathetically surmised, "It hurt Hope when you and I got together. It has to hurt you to see her getting closer to someone else." Bo was grateful that Carly understood, and pulled her into his lap. "I fell in love with you a long time ago," he declared. "And then fate-or whatever brought you back into my life, and I fell all over again."
Later, as they lay in bed together, Bo confessed to Carly that he didn't want Hope to rush into anything with the wrong guy. He then asked if Carly thought the two of them had rushed into something. Carly replied that after the nightmare of her previous few years with Lawrence, Bo had been wonderfully kind and protective when she'd arrived in Salem, and all her old feelings for him had flooded back. She continued that she had no regrets, but she hoped Bo didn't feel obligated to her.
Bo assured her that he also had no regrets, and reminded her of all the opportunities she'd given him to leave-opportunities he hadn't taken. "When Hope took my daughter and walked out of my life, I thought my life was over," he declared. "But not anymore. That's because of you." Carly pointed out that when they'd been together before, he'd thought Hope was dead and it hadn't ended well.
Carly added that they were at the point in their relationship that, "We can either deepen this, or we can end it." She urged Bo to tell her if Hope's moving on bothered him, and explained, "I'd rather be hurt than live a lie." Bo understood, but kissed her passionately to demonstrate that he wasn't ready to end things.
At the Kiriakis mansion, Hope called the station to let another detective know that she would be in later to do some follow-up on the muggings case. She was on her way out to a doctor's appointment when she ran into Adrienne, who announced that they needed to talk. Although Hope was in a hurry, she somewhat reluctantly let Adrienne into the foyer. "You seem like something's wrong," Hope observed. Adrienne admitted, "Something's definitely not right. And it's you."
Adrienne followed as Hope stalked into the parlor. "I know you're resentful, but to accuse me of something like this?" Hope complained indignantly. Adrienne insisted that she wasn't accusing anyone, but she needed to talk to Hope after seeing Hope and Justin together. "It is very disconcerting to me that you would deny what I saw with my own eyes, You and Justin were hugging. Your lipstick was all over his lips," Adrienne explained defensively, but firmly maintained that she wasn't jealous.
Hope asked if Adrienne were trying to say that something was wrong with Hope. Adrienne maintained that Hope just hadn't been acting like herself, and Adrienne didn't want Justin to get hurt. Hope sincerely stated that she didn't want that, either, because she didn't know what she would do without Justin's friendship. "His friendship?"
Adrienne exclaimed, incredulous. "God, Hope, what kind of game are you playing here?"
Hope asserted that she didn't play games. When Adrienne pressed about whether Hope considered Justin more than a friend, Hope admitted that Justin's mugging had made her realize what it would mean not to have him in her life-and she'd told him that. Adrienne couldn't believe that Hope didn't realize how her actions affected Justin, and angrily reminded Hope that she'd gotten Adrienne to Salem by claiming Justin was in trouble. Hope reiterated how much she regretted having done that, but she'd only been thinking of Justin’s and Adrienne’s happiness.
"And what, you decided to make a play for him?" Adrienne demanded. Hope insisted that Adrienne was seeing things that weren't there. Fighting back angry tears, Adrienne retorted, "I think you're refusing to see things that you don't want to see."
Hope asserted that Adrienne should tell Justin if she didn't like the way Hope was treating him, but added with genuine confusion, "I haven't done anything with Justin that I regret. And I don't know why you're so upset with me." Hope left for her appointment, and Adrienne watched her go. "I believe you," she said to herself.
When Hope arrived for her appointment with Dr. Spaceman, her request for another refill of her sleeping medication surprised him. Hope explained that she had stopped taking the pills so she could be alert while caring for her grandmother, and then her grandmother had passed away. Afterward, Hope had felt very alone and had been unable to sleep again, so she'd started taking the pills again. Dr. Spaceman was concerned about whether Hope had experienced any adverse reactions to the medication.
Hope admitted she'd been having strange dreams, but she thought it was because she was going through a difficult divorce and her grandmother had died, not because of the pills. She emphasized how important it was for her to know that she could get a good night's sleep. Dr. Spaceman reluctantly agreed to write another prescription, but tried to inform Hope about a study he'd read. Hope politely cut him off, insisting that she wasn't having problems. She took the prescription from him and left.
Justin bumped into Hope a bit later at the Brady Pub. She asked if he had recalled any new details of his mugging, but he hadn't. Justin remarked that there had already been an arrest in the case. Hope asserted that Arianna didn't seem like a likely suspect, and she wanted to make sure justice was served. Although Hope stated that she needed to interview the other mugging victims, Justin confessed that he'd talked to Bo earlier.
"I wanted him to know that you and I are getting closer," he explained. "We are, right?" Adrienne arrived just then and wondered why Hope was there, when she'd been in such a hurry before. Heading for the door, Hope replied apologetically, "I am, and I don't have time for this again, not right now. Excuse me."
Adrienne admitted to Justin that she'd gone to see Hope earlier. "I know she's going through hell," Adrienne declared. "But that doesn't mean she's not bad for you." Justin firmly asserted that what happened between him and Hope was none of Adrienne's business.
"You're absolutely right," Adrienne acknowledged. "But Justin, you and Hope have two very different ideas of what's happening between the two of you." Justin begged her not to go after Hope. Adrienne believed that Hope was a lot more screwed up than Justin was willing to admit.
Abe pulled out his phone to give Lexie a phone number and she spotted the prescription and asked him about it. He admits that he has had trouble sleeping since the mugging. ”Sweetheart, why didn't you tell me?" Lexie asked. Abe replied that he hadn't wanted to worry her, but his new doctor thought his insomnia was just due to stress.
Hope arrived just then and overheard, but Lexie quickly downplayed Abe's insomnia. Hope asked if Abe had remembered anything more about his mugging, and when he replied that he hadn't, she asked Lexie if she could take another look at the injury reports. Lexie agreed to pull the copies for Hope.
After Lexie and Abe left, Hope poured herself a cup of coffee. Just then, Carly returned to work, with Bo accompanying her. "You'd better get used to it," Bo said, kissing Carly. "This is the kind of things guys do when they're in love." Hope's expression betrayed her utter disappointment and heartbreak, though Bo and Carly didn’t see her there.
7/15 At the hospital, Hope watched Carly and Bo kiss each other and flirt. When Bo left, Carly saw Hope staring at her. Carly asked if she could help Hope. "I think maybe it's the other way around," Hope said. Carly claimed she was too busy to talk, but Hope insisted. She reminded Carly that she knew Bo "more than anyone." Hope said while she wasn't trying to help Carly with Carly's relationship with Bo, Hope still cared and worried about Bo. "I'm mean, after all, he is still my husband," Hope said.
Hope said that women loved how spontaneous and open Bo was, but she reminded Carly that Bo was still the Police Commissioner and, as a married man, public displays of affection with his new girlfriend wouldn't "play out very well with a lot of people." Carly asked if Hope was trying to protect Bo's image or if Hope was jealous. Hope said it was about something more important than Bo's image, it was about protecting Bo himself. Hope pointed out that Hope and Bo shared a 25 year history, and Hope's family had become Bo's family, and they were very important to Bo.
Hope pointed out that any of the Hortons could have seen Carly and Bo kissing at the Nurses' Station and they would have been very upset with him. Hope advised Carly to think about what she was doing to Bo's life. As Hope was chewing Carly out, Bo appeared behind Hope and asked to speak to Hope privately. He asked Hope what she was doing, and Hope criticized Bo for his public display of affection at the nurses' station.
Hope told Bo that it was inappropriate for him as the Police Commissioner to be "so obvious" at the hospital. Bo asked if she was trying to make an issue out of what seemed appropriate, and Hope admitted that she was "just a grasping, neurotic woman who can't seem to get on with it." Bo pointed out that he never said she was neurotic and also that Hope hadn't "gotten on with it." He also added that it was Hope's idea to get a divorce in the first place.
Hope asked if Bo really thought that she wanted a divorce? He questioned if that was what she wanted? Bo asked if she thought that getting a divorce was their only option. She pointed out that he was sleeping with Carly in their bed. Bo said he had begged Hope not to leave the house, and she admitted that she "blew it."
"You're blameless, and I'm not being facetious," Hope said. She admitted that she started it because she wasn't happy with the "status quo" like he was.
Bo said he had been trying to figure out what was going on in Hope's head ever since Ciara's kidnapping. "And you need that, don't you? You need that kind of harmony like you have with Carly right now," Hope said. Bo asked if she thought he was supposed to feel guilty and live alone for the rest of his life because Hope couldn't live with the status quo.
Hope said he could have waited a month. He said he tried to wait a month and to figure out what was going on with her and what she wanted. "This. This is what I want. I'm blissfully happy, can't you see that?" Hope said sarcastically. Hope told Bo that he was absolved of guilt and she promised to be "as sweet as pie to Carly," but she said she was done with their conversation.
Carly saw that Bo was upset, and she asked if he had another fight with Hope. He said he didn't consider it a fight, it was more like mind games. He said that Hope admitted that their marriage breaking up was her fault, and it sounded like she meant it but that he could see her "flashes of anger and then ice."
Carly noticed that Hope was playing mind games with Carly, too, because earlier Hope had said that Carly wasn't to blame for what happened between Hope and Bo, but then Hope later claimed Carly was messing up Bo's life and his career. Bo said that Hope didn't play mind games, and he didn't know who Hope was anymore.
At the Kiriakis mansion, Hope was dressed for bed, and she was feeling anxious. "I can't keep letting him do this to me," she said. She took some sleeping pills to calm her down. Hope woke up later, saying, "It's time." She got up out of bed.
At the Brady Pub, Adrienne told Justin that she felt Hope was "screwed up." Justin reminded Adrienne of all the stress that Hope had been dealing with, including Alice's death and Hope's marriage falling apart, and asked if Adrienne thought that "screwed up" was an "appropriate response."
"You're right, Justin. I guess I'm just too stupid and shallow to have taken that into account," Adrienne said sarcastically. "Now I've known the woman forever, but I have no idea how she'd respond to stress," Adrienne added.
Adrienne stressed to Justin that she knew Hope better than he did, and she felt that something was "way, way off." Justin admitted that he was worried about Hope. Adrienne clarified that she was just pointing out that Hope had been acting out of character. Justin didn't want to talk about it anymore. Justin thought to himself that Adrienne had to be wrong.
Adrienne stopped by Bo's house to return Carly's scarf. She admitted that the scarf was just an excuse to stop by. She said she was worried about Hope.
Justin ran into Victor at the Brady Pub. Justin told Victor that he was worried about Hope. Victor didn't think anything was wrong with Hope, and she just needed to be left alone.
7/16 Carly was about to enter the Brady Pub when Hope arrived from around the corner. Hope greeted Carly amiably, and Carly was completely taken aback. Carly reminded Hope, "About an hour ago, you took my head off. You were being a little hostile..." After apologizing, Hope explained in a whisper, "The woman who yelled at you? It wasn't me."
Hope clarified that she became a different person when she saw Bo with Carly, and she regretted hurting Carly's feelings. Hope continued that she admired how Carly had handled things with Lawrence. "In a way, you're almost like a hero to me," Hope declared. Appalled, Carly pointed out that she had killed a man. Hope asserted that Lawrence had pushed Carly beyond the limit, and Carly had fought back-something that a lot of women wouldn't have the guts to do.
"You've taught me a lot," Hope whispered, wiping away a tear. Carly wanted to know what Hope meant, and suggested that the two of them talk over a cup of coffee. "I would love that. You're so sweet," Hope enthused. "But I'm running late."
Carly couldn't manage anything beyond a bemused stare. "You didn't let Lawrence control you; I'm sure you won't let Bo control you, either," Hope declared, adding, "You've got a wonderful future ahead of you. We both do." Carly stares after her, puzzled and concerned.
At Bo's, Adrienne insisted to Bo that she wasn't trying to stir things up, but Hope and Justin had been kissing, and afterwards, Hope had acted like nothing had even happened. "It just doesn't seem like her," Adrienne maintained anxiously. "And to be so cavalier about something like that... What do you think is going on?"
Bo worriedly concurred, "She's acting like a whole different person. Where the hell did Hope go?" He blamed himself, because he had given up on his and Hope's marriage, and then moved on with Carly too quickly. He explained that he'd hurt Hope badly, "And now she's trying to hurt me. And Carly, and Justin..." Adrienne concluded, "But most of all, herself."
After Adrienne had gone, Carly returned home, and informed Bo that she'd just run into Hope, who had thanked Carly for killing Lawrence and declared she was her hero. Bo's jaw fell open in horrified disbelief. He then told Carly about how Adrienne had walked in on Hope and Justin kissing, which Ciara could also have walked in on.
"What's going on with her? Why is she acting like this?" Carly asked with genuine concern. "Is she playing games with us?" Carly recounted the rest of the conversation, and then divulged, "She insinuated that I would be better off without you." Bo declared that Hope's behaviour had gotten out of control, and he had to figure out why.
Hope met Dick in the basement poker room, and asked if he'd gotten everything on her list. She became enraged as she looked through the bags and discovered that Dick had not followed her orders. Dick maintained that he'd simply run out of time, but Hope accused him of doing it on purpose so she couldn't carry out her plan. "I am going to get my revenge on Bo Brady," she hissed. "Don't you dare try to stop me."
Dick urged her to reconsider. "These things that you asked me to get for you-what exactly do you plan to do with them?" he asked, adding that maybe if Hope said the answer out loud, she'd realize how crazy it sounded. Hope snapped that she was going to be free, and happy-and get even. Dick wanted to know what would happen after she carried out her "mystery plan." Hope replied quietly, "I disappear."
Hope wouldn't divulge anything more, so Dick suggested that she give up her plan, and the two of them could leave town together. Hope was touched, but turned icy as she persisted that she intended to carry out her plan. Dick wanted to know why the plan was so important to her. Hope asserted that it was the only way she would ever be at peace. Dick pressed her, asserting that after all he'd done for her, he deserved to know what she was planning to do. Hope leveled a steely gaze at him. "I'm going to murder my husband."
7/19 Bo invited Roman over to talk about Hope's strange behavior. Bo explained that Hope had criticized Carly for her public display of affection and then hours later had told Carly that she admired Carly for killing Lawrence. Bo also said that Hope contradicted Justin and Adrienne's assertion that she and Justin were involved. Roman advised Bo to back off of Hope. Roman told Bo to let Hope live her own life. After Roman left, Bo didn't follow Roman's advice and decided not to turn his back on Hope.
Hope told Dr. Baker that it was time to kill Bo. Dr. Baker didn't want Hope to kill Bo, but she said it wasn't his call to make, it wasn't even hers. It was in the stars, time for Bo to die. Dr. Baker stopped Hope from leaving, and told her that he was falling in love with her. He begged her not to murder Bo.
Dr. Baker said that he was scared, because he loved Hope even though he knew it wouldn't work out. Dr. Baker said that the police would catch Hope if she killed Bo. He said that he had an alternative plan to get revenge on Bo. Dr. Baker said they would mug Bo by giving him a drug to knock him out for hours while they stole money from Bo's bank accounts and then Dr. Baker and Hope would leave the country together.
Hope said Dr. Baker was a breath of fresh air. She said she would think about his offer but wanted him to get the rest of the things on the list. After he left, she said that no one would talk her out of "this." She left to carry out her plan.
Bo stopped by the Kiriakis mansion, and while Henderson was checking on Hope, he told Ciara that Hope was upset about the stories that Ciara was telling. Ciara defended herself, saying she actually saw Hope hugging a man, and it wasn't Justin. Ciara said the man might be the person who took her treasures. Bo said goodnight to Ciara when Henderson returned. He told Bo that Hope wasn't at home.
Hope went to Bo's house and looked at the pictures on the mantelpiece. She said the house was "hell inside of a white picket fence and the devil's my husband." She said there was no "happily ever after, nothing but abandonment and misery." Bo returned home while Hope was still plotting his demise. She opened the door and he was standing there.
7/20 After setting the first part of her plan in motion at Bo's house, sleepwalking Hope talked smugly to herself about getting the rest of the items from her list. As Hope exited the house, she ran in to Bo as he was arriving home.
When Bo asked why Hope was at the house, she explained that she was there to pick up Ciara's video game but could not find it. Bo crossed to the TV, picked up the video games boxes, and handed them to Hope. "Hang in there, Beauregard," Hope whispered before grabbing the front of Bo's shirt and pulling him in for a passionate kiss. As Hope started to leave, Bo called out to her. "Something is wrong here," Bo said with a furrowed brow. "Where's Hope and what have you done with her?" Bo said half joking.
When Hope bristled at Bo's comment, Bo noted that although he was joking, Hope seemed different. "You're right. I am different. But you know what? There's a very good reason," Hope said with a grin. Hope explained that she was dressed differently because she was working on an undercover case that evening. Suspicious, Bo noted that Hope's demeanor was different and that he was worried about her.
Hope thanked Bo for caring about her and urged him to get "everything out in the open." "I am trying to get my life up and running again," Hope announced. Hope warned Bo not to listen to gossip about her. Bo countered that the people he had talked to had Hope's best interest in mind.
Bo begged Hope to stop the sarcasm and tell him what was going on. Shaking Bo's hand off of her arm, Hope shouted, "I can't play the long suffering, jilted wife 24/7. Do you have any idea how hard, how painful it is to see the woman who stole my husband sashaying around here like she won the damn lottery?"
Shocked, Bo slowly backed away from Hope. Hope noted that she was a "human being who is dealing with her life the best she can. What's your problem?" Hope growled at Bo.
"My problem? Is that you're dealing with this in a way Hope never would. Just the opposite in fact," Bo said with a look of concern on his face.
"You are such a hypocrite. Who are you to judge me?" Hope said through gritted teeth as she advanced toward Bo. Bo explained that he was not judging Hope, but that he was worried about her. Bo apologized to Hope for hurting her, but he added that he would not apologize for Carly. "I hate what happened just as much as you. But to put this on Carly? That's below us. You and I have a problem? We work it out face to face, all right?" Bo said.
Hope agreed, "We're not together any more but that doesn't mean I don't still love you. We're family. We have our children together. We've shared most of our life together. I will always care and so will you," Bo said softly. Holding back tears, Hope agreed that she would always have a connection with Bo.
Bo urged Hope to talk to him if she needed him. "I'm here. I can be here all night if you need," Bo offered, just before his cell phone rang. As Bo talked on the phone, Hope's demeanor shifted from tearful to watchful. When Bo hung up the phone, Hope pretended to regain her composure. Bo explained that Carly was going to be in surgery all night, and he offered to spend the evening talking. "I'd say I'd like that," Hope said with a devilish smile.
Hope asked Bo to make some coffee, and while he was gone she called him a "stupid fool" while she poured a handful of pills into her hand. "After tonight no more games, no more manipulations because my job will be finished. And so will you," Hope whispered gruffly.
Bo returned to the living room with a pot of coffee but no sooner had he placed it on the table did his phone ring. While Bo took the phone call from Roman in the kitchen, Hope gleefully pulled the bottle of pills out of her purse. "Some things are just meant to be," Hope said as she poured the pills into Bo's cup of coffee. When Bo returned, Hope handed him his cup of coffee. Bo took the cup and reiterated his concern for Hope. "How's your coffee?" Hope asked as she raised an eyebrow.
7/21 Bo returned from the kitchen to his living room, where Hope had just drugged his coffee. She handed him a cup and thanked him for being concerned about her. Bo stopped before taking a sip, and told Hope that he had known her for too long not to know that she wasn't being honest about why she was there. Hope admitted that she had used Ciara's video game as an excuse, in case Bo hadn't wanted to talk to her. Bo insisted that he always wanted to hear what she had to say, and took a big gulp of his coffee.
Hope recounted all the things the two of them had managed to get through together. Bo wondered what had changed, and why they hadn't found their way back to each other. Hope replied sadly, "I just wish that you had fought harder for us." Bo maintained that he had fought for them as hard as possible, and he had been heartbroken when she had left. Hope argued that he had given up as soon as Carly returned to town, but Bo pointed out that Hope had given up on their marriage and had taken their daughter and moved out even before that.
Hope furiously snapped that Bo still refused to take responsibility for his part in things. Bo countered that he had accepted responsibility for hurting her during Ciara's kidnapping. Hope icily demanded, "How soon was it after Carly arrived in Salem was she sleeping in my bed?" Bo took another gulp of coffee, and asked if it would change things if he broke things off with Carly and had Hope and Ciara move back in so they could start over.
Stunned speechless, Hope's eyes filled with tears. As he reached for his coffee, Bo told her to answer the question, but Hope forcibly stopped him from picking up the cup. "You can't have any more," she declared. She explained for an utterly confused Bo that she was just going to warm up his coffee. She then noted that his cup was empty. "Would you really break up with Carly, give our marriage another chance?" Hope asked when Bo pressed her about why she'd snatched the cup away from him.
Bo replied that he wasn't convinced that they really could work things out, even if he did break up with Carly-he'd only said that to get Hope to see that Carly wasn't responsible for what had happened between them. "You're right!" Hope shouted, rising to her feet. She added more quietly, "Carly's innocent in this. It's you. It's all you. And any which way you cut it, you betrayed me."
Bo stood up, but immediately became so woozy that he couldn't make his next point. Reiterating that neither she nor Carly was responsible for what had happened, Hope stroked Bo's face sensually, while he could only watch with a bemused frown. "I'm going to get my revenge," she purred. "Hell hath no fury..." Bo stammered groggily, "What are you talking about? Revenge? You wanna hurt me, Hope?" He collapsed onto the couch.
Hope entered the room from the kitchen a few moments later, and gazed smugly at the unconscious Bo. "I like you like this, where you can do no more harm," she murmured, kneeling to peer into his face. She whispered that she couldn't believe all their years together had meant nothing to him. "You heartless bastard!" she hissed. "But it's over now. You won't hurt us anymore. I'll see to that." She picked up her purse and strolled out.
Hope then met Dick in the poker basement, and asked if he'd gotten the rest of the things on her list. She was pleased to find a gasoline can and a box of kitchen matches in the shopping bag. Dick asserted that Hope's plan was "downright evil," and wanted to know if she intended to burn down the whole town. With a sly smile, Hope maintained that she needed the fire to obliterate the house-and Bo. Hope then informed Dick that she'd just disabled the fire alarms at the house, and when Bo had arrived unexpectedly, she had seized the opportunity and drugged him.
Hope picked up the bag and started for the door, but Dick stopped her. "Arson is one thing, but to use these things as murder weapons-you can't do it," he stated. "I won't let you." His concern touched Hope, and she was grateful for all his help, but she maintained, "This is something I have to do. It's the only way I can truly move on." Dick refused to help her any further. "I don't need you to make this happen," Hope hissed.
Bo began to regain consciousness, and struggled to get to his feet. He called out for Hope, but fell to the floor before he could take more than a couple of steps. Hope returned to the house, and left Bo where he lay as she began splattering gasoline over everything. She poured the remainder of the can on her husband, doused him thoroughly, then tossed the empty gas can over her shoulder and sat down with the box of matches. "Finally, I'll be at peace," she declared, and then struck a match on the side of the box.
7/22 Hope poured gasoline on an unconscious Bo. "Finally I'll be at peace," she said. Then she lit a match, but she stopped when she saw a picture of her, Ciara, and Bo. She blew out the match. She contemplated how much Ciara would be hurt to see Bo and another woman together for the rest of Ciara's life, not to mention if they had kids together and Bo loved those children more than Ciara. Hope was then convinced that Bo needed to die. She lit another match, and she prepared to torch Bo's body, but Daniel knocked on the door, so Hope hid in the kitchen.
The door was open, so Daniel walked into Bo's house. He saw Bo on the floor and realized he was drenched in gasoline. He looked around then proceeded to try to revive Bo. Meanwhile, Hope lurked behind the kitchen door with a gun aimed at Daniel. Before she could pull the trigger, Hope heard sirens. Daniel told Bo that help was on the way and for Bo not to give up. Daniel continued CPR on Bo.
The EMTs arrived and prepared to take Bo to the hospital. Roman was with them. Daniel determined that it seemed like Bo had a drug overdose, but Roman didn't understand how that could be, because he smelled gasoline all over Bo. Daniel wondered how the EMTs got there so fast, and Roman said that a man had called anonymously. Daniel said that Bo owed that man his life. Daniel hoped that they could save Bo. Meanwhile, Hope said that Bo wasn't supposed to die from the drug, but it might have to happen that way.
Hope went to see Dr. Baker to chew him out for calling 911 to save Bo. Dr. Baker explained that he did it for her, because if she got arrested for killing her ex, she would go to jail for a long time, as opposed to just being charged with the muggings, in which case she might get off. He also reminded her that he helped her with some of the muggings, so it was his problem too.
Dr. Baker said he had assumed at first that she was just mugging people for the money, but then he realized that she was just a "nice lady who had been pushed too far." Hope got angry and ordered him to stay out of her plan to kill Bo. Dr. Baker offered his help, and Hope accused him of trying to run her life for her. She stormed out, pledging to finish what she'd started.
Daniel ordered tests on Bo, and Carly burst into the room. She asked Daniel what had happened, and Daniel said it looked like a drug overdose, but she said that Bo didn't use drugs. She begged Daniel to save Bo. Carly didn't believe that Bo had overdosed because Bo wasn't on any medication. Daniel agreed with Carly. He added that there was gasoline all over the place at the house. Bo's respiration was shallow, and Carly tried to intercede, but Daniel ordered her out of the room.
Hope lurked in the hallway while Daniel told Carly that they had saved Bo. Daniel didn't have any idea who had drugged Bo and doused him with gasoline. Roman arrived, and Daniel said that Bo was stable and would be okay. Carly asked if Roman knew anything more about what had happened to Bo. Roman said that the smoke detectors, fire alarm, and security system were all disabled and that the gasoline indicated that whoever drugged Bo wanted to burn him alive. Carly wondered who would want to do something so awful to someone like Bo.
Meanwhile, Hope snuck into Bo's room and whispered to him while he was still unconscious, there was no one in the room next to him, which convinced her that she was meant to be there.
7/23 At the hospital, Roman discouraged Carly against calling Hope and Caroline before they knew more about what had happened to Bo. Since Bo was stable, Roman thought there was no need to worry the family. Abe and Roman were both grateful that Daniel had shown up in time to save Bo.
Privately, Abe asserted to Roman that Hope had a right to know what had nearly happened in her house. Roman maintained that he didn't want to wake Hope up with bad news until he knew more. Both men wondered who could possibly hate Bo enough to want to kill him by drugging him and setting him on fire. Roman didn't think the attack on Bo had anything to do with the muggings, because everything about it had been different, and it was much more personal. Abe and Roman briefly considered the DiMeras as suspects, but just as quickly dismissed the crime as not the DiMeras' style.
In Bo's room, Hope pulled on a pair of black leather gloves, and sat on the edge of her unconscious husband's bed. She kissed him on the lips, and then whispered, "That was the kiss of death, my dear." She carefully wiped her lipstick off his lips with a gloved finger. After she found a syringe in a drawer, Hope prepared to inject Bo's I.V. with an air bubble.
She muttered that it wouldn't kill him as slowly or painfully as she had planned, but it would kill him, and that was all that mattered to her. Bo suddenly stirred, and opened his eyes and looked right at her. "What are you doing?" he mumbled.
"I'm doing what I should have done a long time ago," Hope replied, depressing the plunger on the syringe. She heard voices outside just as she finished. While Bo tried weakly to call Hope's name, she darted out the side door of his room.
Carly and Daniel entered the room then, and Carly was pleased that Bo seemed to have regained consciousness. "Hope?" was all Bo could manage to say. Carly asked if Bo wanted her to call Hope for him, but his eyes suddenly rolled back in his head and his heart monitor began beeping. Daniel shouted for a crash cart and called a code blue.
While Daniel worked to revive Bo with the defibrillator paddles, a sobbing Carly wondered what was going on, because Bo had just been stable. Once Daniel managed to get Bo's heart started again, they had to put a tube down Bo's throat to help him breathe. Carly knew that she couldn't put off calling Hope any longer.
As Hope arrived at the Kiriakis mansion, she paused outside to catch her breath. "He looked me right in the eyes," she noted anxiously to herself. "He knows I tried to kill him." When she went inside, she found Ciara asleep on the couch next to the nanny, who explained that the girl had refused to go to bed until Mrs. Brady got home. Hope gave the nanny permission to leave. She then sat down next to her sleeping daughter and kissed her tenderly on the forehead. "My beautiful girl," Hope whispered, stroking Ciara's hair. "I love you more than anything in the world. And I want you to know that I did all of this for you."
Hope continued that Zack had died because Bo had cared more about "that daughter he had with Billie" than about Zack, and Hope had nearly lost Ciara because Bo had handled the kidnapping "like he knew everything." When Hope's cell phone rang, she looked at the caller ID and then silenced the phone. "So, Bo told Carly what happened," Hope said to herself. "And now they're coming for me. I'm so sorry, Ciara."
A bit later, Hope lay in bed in her pajamas. "This is goodbye," she whispered before closing her eyes.
When Bo finally regained consciousness, Carly was sitting at his bedside. He immediately yanked the tube out of his throat, despite her protests. As Bo coughed and gagged, Carly asked gently, "You really want to tell me who did this to you, don't you?"
7/26 At the hospital, Bo woke up with Carly at his bedside. She asked him what he had tried to tell him the night before, but he didn't remember. Roman walked in and said that he had been worried about Bo. Bo asked Roman what happened, because he didn't remember. Roman asked what the last thing Bo remembered was. Bo said he remembered being at Victor's house, and he asked again what had happened.
Roman explained what had happened and what a close call Bo had; he said that someone had called the fire department. Roman said that Daniel had found Bo and also that an anonymous caller notified 911. Carly got frustrated with Roman and Bo making light of Bo's attack, so Bo comforted Carly. Hope was at the door and saw them in an embrace just as Roman was leaving. Hope told Roman that Caroline was at the hospital and didn't look happy, especially with Roman. After he left to do damage control, Hope asked Bo some questions about his attack.
At the Kiriakis mansion, Hope woke up and saw that Carly had called. When Hope went downstairs, she was in a good mood. Justin walked in and gave her the news that Bo had been hospitalized after someone attacked him.
Carly explained that Bo had been drugged with an anti-anxiety medication that could cause memory loss or death. Hope asked how someone could have drugged Bo without him knowing it. Bo remembered seeing a coffee cup, but he lied about it to Carly. Caroline and Victor stopped by to see Bo, and he assured them that he was okay. Hope asked to speak to Carly, so they both left the room. Hope asked where Carly had been the night before, and Carly assumed that Hope was trying to prove that Carly attacked Bo.
Hope explained that she was just trying to establish a timeline for the night of Bo's attack, and Carly apologized. She told Hope that whoever attacked Bo knew that Carly would be at the hospital all night. Carly said that her schedule was posted. Hope got a call and answered it. Justin stopped by and asked about her progress. Hope filled him on the details, and Justin assumed that whoever attacked Bo had help.
Roman decided to go to Bo's house to look for more clues, and Bo asked him to pick up a cheeseburger, but Roman said no. Hope took Bo's request as a sign that he was feeling better. Bo asked how she was doing, but she said she was fine. He asked if she planned to tell Ciara, but she didn't want Ciara to know that Bo had almost died. Bo was frustrated that he couldn't get out of bed.
Hope felt bad that she wasn't there for Bo the night that he was attacked. Hope admitted that she couldn't imagine the world without Bo in it, and Bo said he felt the same way about her. Hope said they were family, and they would get through it. Bo held Hope's hand and said they always would be family. Carly watched them from the doorway.
Lexie and Theo stopped by the hospital for Theo's therapy session. Lexie asked if Abe had seen Hope, and he said that Hope was visiting Bo. Theo said, "Aunt Hope got treasure."
Theo found a wallet buried in the sand and showed it to Lexie and Abe. He called it "treasure." Theo tried to explain that the wallet was Ciara's treasure.
7/28 When Carly entered Bo's hospital room, she was irked to find him packing to leave the hospital. Bo was determined to figure out who had tried to kill him, but Carly blocked the door and refused to let him leave. She insisted that the hospital was the safest place for him, because whoever had tried to kill him might try again.
Victor arrived just then and chimed in his agreement with Carly. He asked for a moment alone with Bo, and after Carly left, Victor asked if Bo thought Carly had anything to do with the attack. Bo irritably asserted that Carly was innocent. Victor vowed to make the culprit sorry they were ever born.
At the police station, Justin found a frustrated Hope working on the case of Bo's assault. Hope confided that she couldn't stop thinking about the horror of what could have happened, and how Ciara would never have gotten over losing her father. Justin tried to comfort Hope as she began to sob, but she quickly pulled herself together and apologized for crying on his shoulder. She admitted that she was worried the perpetrator would try to kill Bo again, because he or she obviously had to be evil to want to burn someone alive.
Hope began to cry again, but berated herself for being so needy. Justin assured her that she could lean on him as much as she wanted, and urged her to let him help. Hope thanked him for being kind, but maintained that what she really needed was some space. A confused Justin stated that he had thought after their kiss that she wanted to spend more time with him. Hope thought he was referring to when they had kissed months earlier, to cover when they had been snooping in Vivian's room. Justin tried to explain, but she interrupted to caution him that she might not ever be ready to move on.
Carly accompanied Bo home, although she was still annoyed that he had refused to stay in the hospital. Bo maintained that he would only be safe once he found his attacker, and reminded her that he was the only witness to the assault. As Bo looked around the room, he suddenly seemed to be remembering something, but just as suddenly, his head began to hurt so badly that he said he couldn't think straight.
Carly urged Bo to lie down and relax. In obvious pain, Bo groaned as he reclined on the sofa and tried to get comfortable. Carly offered to help him with some relaxation techniques to help ease his headache, and perhaps even help him remember something. Just as Bo was agreeing, Hope walked through the front door.
Hope explained that she was following up on the forensics report, and she had thought Bo would still be in the hospital. Carly suggested that Hope stay, so Hope could ask the appropriate questions if Bo remembered something while Carly guided him through the relaxation exercise. Hope agreed. She sat in the chair and looked on while Carly coached Bo through some guided visualizations until he was completely relaxed. She asked him to think of a pleasurable memory, and tell them what he saw, heard, and felt.
Bo remembered sailing on the Fancy Face with Hope, and described the peacefulness of the blue sky and ocean. Carly asked him how he felt, and he replied that he felt pain because the experience was over. Carly then instructed, "I want you to move forward in time, and tell me about last night. When you came home, what did you see?"
7/29 At Bo's house, Carly hypnotized Bo; she asked him what he remembered when he returned home the night before. He looked at Hope, who wondered if something was wrong. Carly assumed that Bo was losing focus, so she continued. Bo said that he remembered smelling gasoline, but he didn't know if the smell was there when he got home. Carly asked if he remembered anything else, and Hope asked if he saw anyone. Bo said he did, he saw Ciara at Victor's house.
Bo remembered that his conversation with Ciara was about Hope. Hope asked for Bo to stop, and Carly asked why. Hope said she thought it was too much stress for Bo. Caroline stopped by to see Bo and was surprised to see Bo under hypnosis. Bo said they were trying to recover his memory about what had happened the night he was attacked. Carly said that Bo would remember more later. Caroline got upset and accused Carly of trying to interrogate Bo, but he defended Carly. Caroline stormed out.
Hope explained that Caroline was upset because no one had told her that Bo was in the hospital. Bo agreed with the initial decision not to notify Caroline. Hope asked Carly not to hypnotize Bo again unless Hope was there, because she wanted to take notes. Hope left to help Ciara pack for a camping trip. Carly was worried about Bo's attacker still being on the loose, but he assured her that he would find the culprit. He planned to go to the station to do some work, but Carly refused to let him leave. Bo insisted on going to work, and she decided to call someone else that she thought would be effective at convincing Bo to take it easy.
Dr. Baker called Hope, but she didn't know who it was. He assumed that she was acting like she didn't know him because it was a bad time to talk. He warned her that someone had spotted him, and then he hung up. Carly showed up at the Kiriakis mansion to ask Hope for a favor. She wanted Hope to talk to Bo, because Bo seemed to listen to Hope.
Carly asked why Hope was annoyed, and Carly made reference to how Hope had behaved towards Carly at the pub when Hope acted like she cared how Carly was. Hope didn't remember that conversation. She said the only thing she remembered was finding the person who tried to kill Bo. Vivian overheard them bickering and said that Carly had tried to kill Bo.
Bo saw Abe and Theo down at the police station, and Bo insisted that he was fine. Abe got a call, and Theo called Bo's wallet "treasures" and mentioned Ciara's name. Bo deduced that Ciara's treasures were wallets. Theo said the treasures were from Hope.
7/30 At the police station, Theo informed Bo that Ciara's "treasures" were wallets that she had taken from Hope. Surprised, Bo questioned Theo further, and Theo stressed that he was sure that was what Ciara had told him. When Abe returned to ask Bo how Theo was doing, Bo responded, "It's Hope that I'm worried about."
When Bo informed Abe what Theo had told him, Abe gently asked Theo to go sit at a nearby desk and draw some pictures. Once Theo was out of earshot, Abe cautioned Bo, "You don't even know what it means." "I'm sure there's a logical explanation. There has to be," Bo said gruffly. Bo noted that he wanted to talk to Ciara before questioning Hope.
Bo went down to the shore of the lake and talked to Ciara's babysitter, Jocelyn, about his daughter's behavior. Jocelyn noted that Ciara was a normal little girl. When Ciara ran to hug Bo, Jocelyn excused herself to go for a walk. Bo asked Ciara about Hope's treasures, but Ciara firmly said, "I won't talk about it, and you can't make me." Ciara explained that "everyone thinks I'm lying." Bo noted that he believed Ciara and asked her whether the treasures were wallets. When Ciara turned her head away, Bo apologized for not believing her before. "This is important. I think your mommy might need my help. And in order for me to help her, I need to know what happened," Bo said softly.
Ciara promised to help Bo if he would promise not to divorce Hope. Bo explained that he did not know what would happen, but he promised to help Hope, and he added, "I will always want us to be a family." Bo noted he could only keep their family together if Ciara told the truth.
"Will you believe me?" Ciara asked. Bo assured his daughter that he would believe her and asked her where she got the wallets. Ciara explained that she'd found the wallets under Hope's bed, but they had disappeared. When Bo asked Ciara who the wallets belonged to, she answered that the wallets belonged to Roman, Justin, and Abe.
At the Kiriakis mansion, Carly expressed her frustration to Hope about her revolving attitude changes toward her. When Carly asked Hope whether she remembered how she had behaved when they saw each other at the pub, Hope firmly said that she did not know what Carly was talking about.
"The only thing I care about is finding the person who tried to murder Bo," Hope said.
"Look no further. She's standing right in front of you," Vivian interrupted as she pointed toward Carly. Rankled by Vivian's catty comments, Carly screamed at Vivian to stop talking.
Still angry, Carly yelled at Vivian to leave the country and get out of her life. "Mine too!" Hope added. "The father of my child almost died," Hope said exasperatedly, and added that Vivian was just using it as an excuse to spread more lies about Carly. "Get away before I do something I shouldn't," Hope said. Vivian warned Hope not to trust Carly, then she left the mansion in a huff. After Vivian was gone, Hope told Carly that she knew that Carly did not hurt Bo.
Carly asked Hope whether Vivian had touched a nerve. "She says all of this stuff about you and I know it's completely irrelevant. You have an alibi. What she said, I mean the way she described that person, I mean the person that tried to kill, Bo, that felt right," Hope explained. Carly and Hope headed into the living room and talked about Vivian. "I hate thinking about that last night with Lawrence, and every time I see her, she flings that in my face," Carly growled. Hope responded that Carly's fight with Lawrence was self-defense, unlike the attack on Bo.
Carly admitted that she believed that Vivian got under her skin because there was "a shred of truth to that." Carly explained that she felt some hatred toward Lawrence because of his cruelty. "That's what she said about the person who went after Bo," Hope wondered aloud. Carly noted that unlike Lawrence, Bo was not cruel by nature and did not set out to hurt anyone. When Carly asked if Hope saw things differently, Hope quietly agreed that Bo did not intend to hurt her.
Hope noted that the evidence showed the attack on Bo was premeditated. When Hope asked Carly about her fight with Lawrence, a tearful Carly admitted that she had not planned to attack her husband. Hope asked Carly whether she regretted what happened with Lawrence. Carly talked about that night and noted that Lawrence would not have stopped pursuing her. "I believed, and I still do, that he was deranged enough to murder an innocent child, and how am I going to live with a belief like that and not do anything about it?" Carly said passionately. Fighting her emotions, Carly said that she felt like she saved her daughter's life when she stabbed Lawrence.
Carly apologized for talking about Lawrence, but noted that she still felt the need to justify her actions to herself and others. When Hope called her brave, Carly said she did not trust Hope's sincerity. Hope stressed that she did not say things unless she meant them, and she resented that Carly did not believe her. "It's not who I am at all," Hope added. When Carly apologized for upsetting Hope, Hope noted that she just needed to get some sleep.
Hope went upstairs to bed and was surprised when she opened her bottle of pills and found that it was empty. Hope found a stray pill in the bottom of her purse and snatched it up. "Thank God. I'll call the doctor in the morning," Hope said. After falling asleep, the evil version of Hope opened her eyes. "Thank you, Carly. That helped me more than I can say," Hope said.
After leaving the Kiriakis mansion, Carly went to the Brady Pub and marched up to Vivian's table. "Do not ever pull Hope into our crap again," Carly said angrily. "You are defending Hope?" Vivian asked in wonderment. "She's been through enough," Carly noted. "If you don't treat Hope with kid gloves, Bo and I will make it our life's work to make Victor throw you out on your boney little ass, you got that?" Carly growled.
8/2 Bo asked Ciara whose wallets she'd found under Hope's bed, and Ciara said that they belonged to Roman, Justin, and Abe. She wondered why Hope had the wallets, and Bo said he didn't know yet. Bo left Ciara with Detective McCarthy. Justin called Bo to say they needed to talk about Hope.
Nighttime Hope woke up, determined to finish what she started. Hope found a letter opener in the living room of the Kiriakis mansion. She started to pick it up, but Vivian interrupted. Vivian thought that Hope was still mad at her, but Hope said she wasn't upset with Vivian, she had just wanted to talk to Carly alone. Hope claimed that she and Vivian were on good terms, and even though Carly tried to poison Hope's mind against Vivian, Hope made her own decisions. Vivian told Hope that Carly had stabbed Lawrence in cold blood. Hope told Vivian to slow down, because Hope knew what to do.
Vivian continues to worry what Carly could do to Bo. Hope assured Vivian that Bo had nothing to fear from Carly. Vivian felt satisfied that Hope didn't feel sorry for Carly. Hope said that Carly seemed to have good reason to kill Lawrence and that Carly had shared the details of his murder. Hope advised Vivian not to end up like Hope and to keep an eye on Victor.
Justin met with Bo at the Brady Pub, and Justin explained that Hope was like two different people and that Adrienne noticed it first.
At Bo's house, Hope called Bo and asked him to meet her at the house to discuss Ciara. After they hung up, Hope pulled a knife out of her purse.
