Roman & Marlena #2 July 12 - November, 1982: 12 hour edit
DVD #3A The next scene is lightened up as he pours more champagne. He then surprises her with an engagement ring. He asks her to marry him! She teases him, isn’t he supposed to be on his knees when he asked? He gets down on his knees and asks her again. She teases if she can keep the ring if she says no. She says she will give him an answer tonight but something they need to talk about first. She mentions Johnny and asks if he is ready to take on the responsibility of taking on Johnny as he is part of the package. He promises that he wants to love Johnny as much as Marlena does and he wants very much to be the boy’s father. A relieved Marlena gives him a huge hug as she cries in his arms. She tells him that he will be a wonderful father, as he is so kind, loving, and giving.
He asks if it bothers her that he is a cop? After all a cop and a shrink don’t necessarily make the best match. She tells him that she didn’t fall in love with a cop but with a man. He asks her again for an answer to his question, and thinks she is stalling when she doesn’t answer and goes to sit in front of the fire. She tells him that she loves him so much but she is scared. She tells him after divorcing Don that she never wanted to get married again. She was afraid of being hurt again. He understands as he was also determined to never feel anything again, that he wasn’t meant to be happy. He never let anyone in besides his family and Abe until her.
She shakily asks how do they know it will work out between them? He tells her they love each other and part of life is taking risks. If she isn’t willing to do that, it isn’t living. He tells her that she has to stop running. He has so much faith in the two of them and he loves her so much, but he also wants to be sure that this is what she wants. He gently puts the ring in the palm of her hand and tells her that he is going to take a walk and when he comes back, he would like her answer.
He returns with a huge bouquet of beautiful flowers. She tells him how much she loves him, that he is the finest man she has ever known, and when she is with him that she is happy, and she thinks Johnny would take to Roman. He grins and asks if that means the answer is yes? She says yes and they kiss. They go to bed together kissing tenderly. He asks her one more time if she is sure? He tells her that he will never let her go. He wants to get married as soon as he is free and he doesn’t want a long engagement. They finally make love!
7/14 The next morning Roman & Marlena wake up in bed together, snuggling and kissing. He is so glad when he sees her face to know he wasn’t dreaming! They talk about all those nights in separate rooms, and Roman laughs about all the cold showers he had to take. They continue making out and enjoying being together. Marlena tells him how much she loves her ring.
Marlena asks Roman what he was dreaming about last night as he tossed and turned and seemed like it was a bad dream. He admits it was about the accident. They talk about him being married to Anna, and he says that he could never get used to calling Anna, Mrs. Brady, even though it was only for three months. He tells her about dreaming of Anna's death in the accident and admits he has been having the dreams for a long time. Marlena assures him that now he has talked about it, that he won’t continue to have the nightmares.
Roman and Marlena have breakfast in their room together, Marlena wrapped in a sheet and Roman shirtless. Marlena tells him that she had a dream that he saved her from the evil King and then he made slow sensuous love to her. He grins at her that wasn't a dream! He takes her to an auction (not shown), and when they return she holds her beautiful antique crystal glasses up to the light. She says they will be for a special occasion and then tells him on their wedding night.
They talk about what they would like for the wedding. Marlena would like a room filled with flowers. Roman would like a small wedding but warns Marlena that his mother will want to have a big wedding and invite the whole town. Marlena doesn't want to disappoint Caroline and agrees to have a big wedding. Roman laughs that he can try to have Kayla convince her to wait for Kayla to get married to have the big wedding. Marlena points out that they can’t pick out a date until Mickey tells him that he is free to remarry.
Mid July - Marlena and Roman return to Salem. When they arrive at Maggie’s, she is thrilled to see the ring on Marlena’s finger and gives them both huge hugs. They ask to talk to Mickey about business and Maggie heads out to leave them alone. Roman shares that Marlena knows about Anna. She asks how long until they can get married. He tells them that he doesn’t see any obstacles with the court declaring her legally dead at the hearing.
When they notice how somber Mickey is, he shows them the morning paper that Neil was involved in an explosion possibly over a gambling debt. He is in critical condition and had brain surgery. They head over to the hospital.
Marlena to offer her support to Marie and Liz. Neil is out of surgery but not out of danger. Roman and Don walk away to discuss the investigation. Don notices the ring on Marlena’s finger.
7/19 Marlena talks with Liz and Julie at her office. So great to see these three power house actresses together! They both reassure Liz who is so afraid for Neil. She complains every time she gets a report it is worse and worse. Marlena is able to get Liz in to be able to see Neil but just for a few minutes.
Roman tells Abe that he has finally asked Marlena to marry him and asks Abe to be his best man. Roman tells Abe about his first marriage to Anna five years earlier. Abe is surprised that Roman had never told him. Roman admits that he didn't want to discuss it. He says it was a pretty good relationship before it ended and technically he is still married (Anna drowned in an accident but was never found).
Roman questions Liz at the hospital about Ralph. He asks if she knows of any reason anyone would want to hurt Neil. She denies any knowledge. Meanwhile, Marlena counsels Renee. Later, Chris notices her engagement ring and offers his congratulations as does Renee. Chris jokes that Roman has a lot more class than he gave him credit for.
Marlena is in her new apartment and Roman arrives. She greets him happily with a big kiss. Eugene calls interrupting. She is thrilled to hear from him but then raises her voice that he hasn’t kept his appointments. He says he is sorry he hasn’t called but he knew she would yell at him. He doesn’t want to go outside. She tells him he can’t hide from the world and demands he meet her in the park in 45 minutes.
Roman and her walk in the park. They are kissing when Eugene comes upon them. He says that he knows they are getting married as he saw the ring in his vision last night. He describes the ring perfectly. Roman shakes his hand and gets an impression that leaves him disturbed. They bug him until he tells them that he doesn’t think their marriage is going to take place. Roman points out that Eugene has been wrong in the past and that if Eugene comes up with anymore negative vibes about their wedding to not say anything as he doesn’t want Marlena upset.
Reduced quality :3 min scene. Roman is waiting in Marlena’s office when Alice comes in looking for her. She tells him that Marlena’s mother called and said it was an emergency. She reached Marlena at Eugene’s phone. Roman is puzzled as he left Marlena with Eugene in the park and he can’t figure out how Alice could have reached her. (Alice thinks she called Eugene’s house not realising he has a bow tie phone). Tom comes in also looking for Marlena and Roman starts to worry as he left them alone in the park together. Tom asks if he doesn’t think she is safe with Eugene? He does admit that he thinks Eugene is a little strange.
Just then Marlena walks in and tells them she had been in the park when she talked to Alice. She tells Alice that she was on Eugene’s bow tie when she talked to Alice. The phone rings and it is her mother. She tells her that Johnny’s biological mother has returned, she left the husband who was abusing him and has gotten counselling and she wants her son back. They had taken the phone off the hook as she had been calling Marlena’s mother constantly. Roman determines that he is not going to let Johnny go back to her! Tom warns them that she has more rights as the birth mother then Marlena will as a foster mom.
Later, Marlena and Roman walk in the park in the evening. She is somber and he says that he can’t take her home while she is feeling like this. She is sad as Mickey had told her that Johnny’s mother could still take him back (scene with Mickey not shown). Eugene comes upon them and says he had a vision about her son. Marlena tells him that his birth mother has returned and she wants him back.
Eugene gets a call on his bow tie phone and has been turned down for a job. Roman offers to look around and see if he hears of anyone hiring, maybe pop. Marlena calls Anderson Manufacturing looking for Chris and finds out he is at the pub so they head over to call in a favor. They tell him that Eugene is in the park and Chris offers him a job! After Eugene and Chris leave to celebrate, Roman tells her how wonderful she is, to help a friend in spite of her own troubles. He promises everything will work out, though he teases her that Chris may never talk to her again.
Back at home, he tells her that she doesn’t have to keep up the cheerful act for him as he knows she is worried about Johnny. A ringing phone interrupts their private moment together. It is Kayla and she wants to see him and Roman agrees. She sounds upset and tells Marlena about his childhood relationship with Kayla, she has always been there for him.
When Roman arrives to meet Kayla at Shenanigan’s, she is upset about David Banning. She shares that David just left furious. She saw him with Renee and acted like a jealous fool. She cries that she said terrible things and he will probably never speak to her again. When he asks her how serious it is with her and David, she admits that she is in love with him. David has never told her that he loves her. Roman recommends she cool it for awhile and give David some space and give some other guys in town a chance.
Roman returns bearing flowers as she opens champagne. He mentions their honeymoon and she says that sounds wonderful. He kisses her and tells her it is too good to wait for. Marlena asks about Kayla and he tells her it is just a case of puppy love. But now he wants to concentrate on Marlena, they are again interrupted by a ringing phone. This time it is an upset Marie, who is crying over Neil. Marlena offers that she can come over to talk. After she hangs up, she asks Roman if he is upset? He says that he will just have to get used to it, and he wouldn’t have her any other way. Marlena comforts Marie when she arrives.
Later on, Marlena has made a romantic candlelit dinner though Roman kinda chokes trying to get it down. She laughs that she knows it is terrible. He says he wasn’t very hungry and they can just forget about dinner. She asks if he wants to forget about getting married? He says no that they will just order in, a lot! As they laugh together, she asks him if anyone has ever been this much in love. She is eager to get married, and hopes they don’t have to wait too long. She hopes that if they can raise Johnny together that she will never ask for anything else in her life. He then sweetly tells her that he would like to give Johnny a little brother or sister. He then carries her off to bed.
:13 mins reduced quality. Roman shows up at Marlena’s office to give her moral support as she is leaving to pick up Johnny from the airport. She is surprised to see him as she knows he had an important meeting. Mickey arrives and tells her the demands Johnny’s mother is making through her attorney. She wants to see her son and is willing to take this to court. She is adamant she wants to keep Johnny but Mickey points out that as the biological mother she will have the advantage. Marlena hopes that Johnny’s mother will feel better about agreeing to Marlena adopting him and raising him if she can come to the penthouse and see the life that she can provide. Mickey offers to go with her as an observer. Roman wants to go to the airport with her but she insists he go to his meeting and she would rather see Johnny alone the first time, but she loves how much he cares about him. Roman points out that Johnny is his future son and no one is going to take him away from him.
Roman heads to the PD. Abe and Roman have a new secretary, Nicky Wade. They ask her to pick up some tuna sandwiches for lunch. After she leaves, Roman teases Abe that she is kinda cute. Abe says she is much too young for him. Don tells the guys that there is a leak that is directly traceable to their department. Nicky returns with elegant table service and a waiter from the Salem Inn. Abe is upset that lunch is $40 for the three of them!
Skip ahead to Johnny’s mother reunited with him. She hugs him tightly and cries over and over how much she loves him and how much she has missed him. Mrs. H tells her that they weren’t expected her to arrive until later in the day. Johnny is very excited to have his favorite bear back. She offers that she will take Johnny to her house so her and Dr. Evans can talk. His mother says her goodbyes and tells him they will never be separated ever again. Roman and Mrs. H take Johnny over to the Hortons. Don goes to call Mickey to get him to come over and fill him in on what is going on.
Johnny’s mother tells Marlena that she is not the same lost person she once was. She appreciates everything that Marlena has done for Johnny and she can see how very much she loves him. She warns her that she wants her son back and she will fight for him if it comes to that. She tells Marlena that his step-father abused her and Johnny. She could not protect him and felt she had no choice but to abandon him. She has remarried and now has a wonderful husband.
Both of their attorneys arrive and Marlena asks how does she know she will never abandon Johnny again? She can’t make her any promises but she is strong now and has gotten therapy and is ready to make a new start with her son. Marlena asks her where she thinks Johnny will want to live? She is sure that he will want to go back to his mother. Marlena seems willing to put Jonnny’s interests first and does not want to drag him through a court case or make him choose which parent to live with. His mother continues that she is moving back to Salem to keep Johnny in his same school and with his friends. She promises that Marlena can see him any time she would like. She sobs and begs Marlena for her son.
After everyone as left, Marlena talks to Johnny privately. She tells him that his mother loves him just as much as Marlena does. She points out that he is very lucky to have two moms who loves him so much. She tells him that his mom is moving back to Salem and wants him to live with her. He is excited but wants to know if he will still see Marlena? She assures him that she will. She realizes just how much he loves his mother and agrees not to fight for custody. She gives him a huge hug and a tearful goodbye.
Meanwhile, Roman and Don talk about the Johnny situation. Don is so worried about her after she lost their baby and says she just can’t lose Johnny. Later at the penthouse, as she stands broken hearted out on the patio, Roman comes up behind her and puts his arms around her and comforts her. He tells her that Don told him what a wonderful mom she was to DJ. He paints a picture of them having a big house filled with lots of their children. She asks him to hold her. He takes her in his arms and promises to hold her forever.
Another day, Roman takes Marlena for a walk down on the docks. He holds her in his arms and tells her how sorry she is for everything she has been through lately. First learning about Anna and the baby, and then losing Johnny. Roman comforts her that she probably saved his life when she took him in. He promises to make everything right for them and Mickey should have everything worked out in a couple of weeks. They talk about happier times in the future. Roman hopes for a first born son so he can help bait the hook for his younger brothers and sisters.
Eugene finds them and reads a King Soloman scripture about the two mothers arguing over a child. One mother says to split the child in half rather than lose them. While the other mother thinks of the best interests of the child and says to keep him whole even if means going to the other mother. The judge recognizes that she is the true mother who loves her child. The parable is that Marlena looked out for what is best for the child, not for her own selfish interests and she truly loved the child.
Roman thanks him for his support. Marlena is touched when Roman invites him to their wedding. Eugene gets a weird look on his face but doesn’t say anything as he leaves them alone. They kiss and snuggle and talk about their upcoming marriage. Roman wants all of their friends there. She is pleased that he considers Eugene a friend. They are talking about going to the arcade but Kayla comes rushing down and tells Roman that a patient at the hospital is asking for Roman. Kayla doesn’t know what it is about but assumes it is police business.
When Roman arrives at the hospital, Kayla tells Roman that the woman asking for him looks familiar. She tells him that the woman says her name is Anna Brady as Roman looks at her in shock and says that can’t be, Anna is dead! Marlena walks up and Kayla tells him that he has to tell her. Roman tells Marlena that the woman in emergency is saying she is Anna Brady.
Roman doesn’t understand how this could be true. Marlena asks if she looks like Anna? Kayla says she never met her, only seen pictures. She is suffering from malnutrition and has some cuts and bruises. Kayla tells him that she is very upset and emotional and very scared. He asks if he can see her yet, but Kayla says once they finish her stitches and goes to check. Roman tells Marlena that he saw her drown, there has to be some kind of a mistake. He thinks it is some kind of a sick joke. He keeps saying that he can’t be her, he felt her slipping away from her as she slipped into the water. He has had nightmares for five years that if only he had held onto her, she wouldn’t have died. Kayla returns and takes him to see her.
Roman sees Anna for first time and is shocked to realize she is alive! She is in horrible condition and looks nothing like the glamorous Anna we later come to know and love. He says, “Anna, is that you?” As he looks at her in shock realizing she didn’t drown. He asks her what happened? He tells her that they searched for days and days. How did she survive, where has she been all of these years? When he sees her condition up close, he asks her what happened to her and begs her to talk to him. She shakily says how sorry she is. She tells him she doesn’t want to cause him any trouble, she must have fainted and woke up in the hospital. She knew it wasn’t right to leave without letting him know. As he asks her what happened the day she fell off the boat, she passes out. He goes out and calls the doctor who asks Roman to wait outside.
Marlena is immediately there. Roman tells Marlena that Anna isn’t dead! Marlena tells him that she called Mickey and told him. He will look into the accident records. Marlena asks if she told him where she has been all this time? He says no, but she did recognize him. He promises to find out everything and he will have to talk to her again. The doctor tells him that Anna is in very emaciated condition and hasn’t eaten in awhile. She wants to see Roman to say goodbye.
*Roman tells Anna that she is not in any condition to be leaving. She doesn’t want to cause him any trouble but he has to find out where she has been all this time and what happened to her. She tells him that she only came back to Salem to let him know she was alive. She read about him in the newspapers. He asks why she didn’t call him or come to see him at the station? She tells him because she knew about him and his beautiful lady. She followed him one day to a restaurant and could tell how in love he is and she didn’t want to cause him any trouble. He tells her how he has thought he was responsible for her death for all these years. As he asks her questions, she gets upset and tells him she just want to go away and she isn’t going to make any demands on him. He says he won’t pressure her right now but she isn’t going anywhere until he gets some answers and finds out where she has been all of these years. He says she broke his heart and he wants to find out why.
When Roman returns home, Marlena gathers him in her arms and hugs him tightly and offers him comfort. Once they sit down, she tells him that the mystery woman is not Anna Brady. Roman argues with her that the woman was Anna, he recognizes her. Marlena points out that the passport the woman has was under a different name, born in a different place.
Abe soon arrives and Roman wants to know why he is there. Marlena tells him that she had Abe check out the passport for “Danielle Davidson”. Roman assures Abe regardless of what the passport says that woman is Anna. Abe tells them that the fingerprints do match Anna’s. Marlena worries as Roman told her that he had loved Anna. He reminds her that he loves HER Marlena now.
Back at the hospital, Marlena fills Eugene on in the reappearance of Roman’s presumed dead wife. Eugene realizes this is the impression that he had of a woman holding Roman’s watch. Roman shows Marlena and Abe the watch that Anna had, it was his and she had it the day of the accident. He tells them that Anna was rambling on about a man being after her.
Roman goes back into visit Anna and when he asks again how she got in this condition, she doesn’t want to talk about it. He asks her why she is using someone else’s passport. She says it was given to her several years ago, she hasn’t always used the name Anna Brady. He asks if she was trying to hide something. She says that she shouldn’t have come here, it was a mistake and she will leave as soon as she is able to. He tells her it wasn’t a mistake but why did it take her 5 years? She starts to cry and says she couldn’t come sooner. She tells Roman there is a man looking for her. He wants to know if she is in trouble. She says she was forced to live with him. She doesn’t want to burden him but Roman points out that she is still his wife. She does not want to involve him in this. He is adamant that she can’t leave while she is in trouble. They talk about the day of the accident. She says she tried so hard to hold onto him, she pulled his watch off. She shows him the watch that she kept close all of these years. She hid it “from him”, the watch was all she had.
:34 mins reduced quality. Abe and Roman are at the PD, and Roman is lost in thought. Abe wishes there was something he could do. Roman notices she isn’t wearing her ring? She says it was a fake ring so she took it off as Abe has a big smile on his face at this news. Don comes in and tries to talk to Roman who doesn’t even acknowledge him. Don comments on how pretty Nicky but she is a liar and tells him about the fake ring. Don can’t get over how out of it Roman is and suggests maybe he shouldn’t be working today. Kayla calls and tells him she is with Anna and she wants to see him. Don pushes for another meeting and gets irritated when Roman can’t make the meeting. He keeps pushing until Roman loses his temper and tells Don that the wedding is off! Abe interjects that it is just postponed.
Meanwhile, a woman has arrived with Carrie in tow asking to see Roman. He rushes out of the station without talking to her. Abe follows Roman out and they wind up in the park. Roman feels guilty for not believing her story and wanting to run the other direction. He tells Abe that she seems scared to death and told him she couldn’t get to her, that this guy is supposedly coming after her. Roman can’t get over the guilt of not saving her the day he thought she drowned. Abe checked prison records and there was no record of her being incarcerated or for the name she was using as an alias. Roman has to get some answers. Abe warns him he has to cool it and get ahold of himself.
Back at the PD, Carrie and the woman are still waiting for Roman to return. Nicky has no idea when he will return. The woman overheard him saying something about the hospital and she takes Carrie over there to find Roman. Roman arrives at the hospital to see Anna. She tells him she is having nightmares. She says seeing him again reminded her of how good things can be and it makes what happened to her all the worse. Roman admits he is having a tough time accepting all of this. He asks her again what happened to her that day. She tells him that people from one of the nearby yachts pulled her out of the water, half drowned and barely conscious. He asks why they didn’t contact him? She tells him that she hated those people and turns away from him. Kayla calls and asks for Roman to come out as there is someone who needs to speak to him and it can’t wait.
When he arrives and Kayla introduces Roman to the woman, little Carrie says that he is her daddy and she loves him! He is beyond shocked at this latest revelation! The woman has a note for him from her mother. Kayla asks her where she came from and Carrie says one of the big ships. The woman was taking care of Anna at the hotel and she gave her a note in case she didn’t return. It was instructions to take Carrie to the station if she didn’t return. Roman asks Kayla to take care of Carrie while he goes back to see Anna. He shows her the note and asks if she wrote it? He tells her about the woman bringing Carrie to the hospital. He has to know if Carrie is his child. Anna tells him yes.
He has to know why she didn’t tell him he had a daughter. She could have at least found a way to let him know that. She says they wouldn’t let her contact him. He doesn’t believe that she couldn’t find the opportunity not once in five years to tell him that Carrie was alive. When he puts his hand on her shoulder, she cringes away and tells him to never touch her again. He tells her he doesn’t know how to deal with this. She begs him to just leave her alone. He refuses until she tells him about Carrie. She tells him that she was born on the yacht. She named her Caroline, just as they had talked about.
She cries that all she could think about was Roman and how different it would have been with him. She cried over how beautiful Carrie was and then she wished she had never been born. By the time she was born, she knew what kind of people had rescued her. She cursed God for not letting her drown. She tells him she never meant to see him, only to tell him she was still alive. He questions if she would have just disappeared again and never let him see Carrie. She says she left the note when she got sick, as she knew he would take care of Carrie if something happened to her. She gets upset and start crying and sobbing and the nurse comes in and makes Roman leave.
When he returns, he promises the nurse that he won’t upset her again. He tells her again that he has to know where she has been and what happened on that yacht. She tells him that they kept her secluded on the boat with no access to a phone. After Carrie was born, they made her do what they wanted or they threatened to hurt Carrie. There were businessmen who came to the boat and she had to entertain them. She says this is why she can’t let him touch her, she can’t let anyone touch her again. She says what happened to her is called white slavery. She breaks down and starts sobbing.
Roman goes to see Carrie who is tucked into bed at his parent’s with Kayla by her side. She is sound asleep. They both agree how much she looks like his mother. He feels guilty that he should be happy that Anna and Carrie are alive. All he can do is think about what this is doing to Marlena and realises he has to talk to her.
Roman and Marlena are talking on the dock and she asks what he is withholding from her? He admits that something else has changed. Not only has his wife returned, but turns out he is the father of a four year old child. Marlena asks if he is sure that she is his child? He says yes, that she was named after his mother, Caroline, and is called “Carrie” for short. He continues that she is the spitting image of his mother and they had talked about naming their baby if it was a girl after his mother.
He is worried about how Marlena is feeling as she didn’t sign up for him to be married with a child. He tells her that Carrie knows he is her father and when she called him “daddy”, it was a kick right to the gut. Marlena assures him that she loves him and she isn’t going anywhere. He continues that Anna stayed on the yacht and was held captive up until she escaped. He tells her that she was forced to participate in providing sexual favors to guests.
Marlena gasps at the thought. He confirms that if this is true, that it is white slavery. She asks about Carrie’s health and he reports that a pediatrician said she is fine but comments it is odd as Ana was malnourished. He admits that the pieces aren’t quite fitting but he will get to the bottom of it. He declares that if he finds out Anna’s story is true that he will kill those responsible.
David comes racing down the dock to find Roman. He tells him there is an urgent call for him from the hospital from his wife. Marlena sobs in his arms as he is saying goodbye. He tells her that he isn’t going anywhere. He holds her and reassures her and tells her how much he loves her and she clings to him desperately.
Roman takes her home. He tells her that he doesn’t know if he can trust Anna with all of these stories she is telling (not sure what the urgent call is from the hospital). Don soon arrives having heard about Roman being married and he is furious. When Roman admits it, Don jumps him and throws the first punch. Don says that Roman told him the wedding is off and he wants answers now! Marlena looks at Roman sadly and asks that it off? He clarifies he meant just postponed.
Roman goes to get Don an ice pack. Don asks Marlena to talk to him and asks if there is anything he can do. She says she doesn’t think there is anything anyone can do, not even him. Don has been brought up to speed, and Marlena is sorry that she didn’t tell him before he heard it someone else. It just happened a couple of days ago. He asks her what happens now? She doesn’t know as they haven’t had a chance to talk about it. He asks if she is still going to marry Roman. She says yes, eventually.
Dvd #3B Don asks when this happened? She says just a couple of days ago. He asks her what happens now? She doesn’t know as they haven’t had a chance to talk about it. He asks if she is still going to marry Roman. She says yes, eventually. Don observes she has had a tough year with losing Samantha, and then Johnny and now this. She points out that yes but she did find Roman. She sobs that she is tired and scared to death. She knows she should be strong but she just doesn’t feel like she can be. Don takes her in his arms and tells her she doesn’t have to be strong, that no one expects this of her. He assures her that between, him, Mickey, and Roman working on this that sh ise will be marrying that cop in no time.
They are hugging each other tightly as Roman walks back in. He sets the ice pack down and goes to walk out saying he will talk to her tomorrow. Don stops him from leaving. Roman brushes him off that it has been a hell of week and makes a crack about Don holding Marlena. Don shares that Marlena is afraid of losing him. Roman reassures Marlena sweetly. Roman assures Don that he thought Anna had died, he saw her drowned. Marlena tearfully is so grateful for how much they both care about her.
After Don leaves, Roman is heading home to check in on Carrie. He does suggest he could come back. Feeling it wouldn’t be right to sleep with Marlena now that Anna is alive, he stays at his parent’s. He promises her that some day they will be married and he does love her. He kisses her longingly before he heads out. After he leaves, a somber Marlena twists her engagement ring, lost in thought.
The next day, they meet in the cafeteria and he tells her about watching his little girl sleep all night. She asks when she gets to meet Carrie. He says she is not going. If she isn’t going to protect herself then she will. He knows how much losing Johnny cost her and he doesn’t want her to go through that kind of loss again. He suggests that Anna could take Carrie and take off again. He doesn’t know for a fact that Anna will stick around. Marlena doesn’t think that anyone can be that cruel. He doesn’t think Anna would do it to be deliberately cruel but that she may think she is doing what is best for them. Knowing how depressed Marlena has been losing Johnny to his birth mother, Roman wants to save her further pain.
Roman visits Anna in the hospital again. When Roman returns to see Anna, she seems to be feeling a bit better and asks how Carrie is doing? Roman had a doctor give her a check up just to be sure. He promises to bring Carrie to see her later. Anna assures him that she did her best to keep her safe. Anna had told him that they took Carrie off the boat and he wanted to know where they took her? She says the Sea Titan traveled all over the world. She says that one time when she was only a year old that they left her with a family in Greece for six months. They brought her back to her for about a year to keep Anna in line. Then they sent her off with people from another yacht and she didn’t see her for two years!
She then mentions the ship is called the Sea Horse. He is confused and asked if that is a different ship. She says no that the owner had the registration and ownership changed every few months. She believes the owner was doing something illegal, but she never saw him doing or selling drugs. She says that he changed his name and Anna’s name several times as well. He asks why she couldn’t have tipped off the authorities but she reminds him they used Carrie’s safety as leverage. Roman vows to find the man that did this to her and to Carrie. She is terrified as he is going to come after her as she knows too much about him and he will kill her for what she has already told him. Roman promises that he will get this man.
He then brings Carrie in to visit her mom. Anna asks her if she would like to go to the zoo but she doesn’t know what a zoo is. Anna is upset that Carrie has never been to school and begs Roman to promise that she will be able to go to school like a normal child. He tells Anna that they will talk again soon and she is grateful to him for bringing Carrie to see her.
Roman asks Kayla if she knows if Marlena is free? He tells her she is the best little sister he has ever had. He admits that it is going to be tough to figure out what to do as he can’t just abandon Anna or Carrie. He knows the story that Anna is telling is wild but look at the condition she is in, something happened to her. He has to find out the truth, he knows there is something he isn’t telling her.
Marlena counsels Renee. She admits to playing a dirty trick on David. He had a date with Kayla for later that night and she made sure he “lost” his keys so he would be later and Kayla would be upset with him. She admits that she wants to try to break David and Kayla up as she wants David for herself.
Roman tells Marlena that the owner of the yacht has changed the registry many times. He swears he will track it down. He has to know how Carrie has been living, as from what Anna has told him it wasn’t very well. She asks what is next? He tells her that he will need to find Anna a place to live once she is able leave the hospital. Then he wants to get a divorce and marry Anna as soon as possible. She questions won’t that take awhile to get the divorce. He agrees it will, but she is willing to wait as long as necessary and can do it as long as he is by her side.
Marlena winds up meeting Carrie when she walks into her office looking for her daddy. Marlena completely melts when she sees her and observes how much she looks like her daddy. Next they attend Jessica’s wedding at the Horton’s.
In her office, Roman is saddened to see that Marlena has removed her ring. He asks what happened. She tells him that everyone was asking to see her ring at the wedding. She realized that it wouldn’t be appropriate to wear at the hospital when his wife is two floors away. He asks if that means she won’t wear it outside of work? She isn’t sure. He promises her that he still wants to marry her, but that seems a long way off now. He declares that as soon as Anna is better that he will find a place for her to live so she doesn’t feel like she has to take off. Marlena is starting to feel like she is losing him, that Anna is taking him away from her.
Roman tells her that he has to find out if Anna’s story is true, and he has to find out what happened to her. Abe fills Roman in on the research into the ships registration but they can’t locate where the ship is due to all the ownership changes.
A nurse brings a patient in a wheelchair in to see Marlena. The patient remarks that Marlena is beautiful. Anna introduces herself and tells her they have someone in common. Anna shares that she wants her daughter to live with Marlena and Roman. She just wants a decent life for her daughter, and offers to leave and never return.
When Roman enters the office, he isn’t happy to see Anna there. Marlena assures him that there was no harm done. Anna tells him that she does not want to cause him anymore unhappiness and she can see how much Roman loves Marlena and that they should be married. He tells her that isn’t possible right now. She says she is filing for divorce.
8/27 This skips ahead a bit, Anna is out of the hospital and living at the Horton’s. Roman and Abe (with his bag of fortune cookies). Roman gets a call and rushes out. He arrives at the Horton’s. He asks what happened? Anna reports that Carrie had a bad dream and woke up screaming. He asks Anna if this happens a lot? She says more than she would like. Roman tries to reassure the child that it was just a bad dream and dreams aren’t real. She says it was real and tells her father to look at mommie’s wrist. There is a mark on it and Carrie tells him it is from when the mean man on the ship tied mommies hands. After Carrie is taken back up to bed, Anna is shaken to realize that Carrie remembered this. She shares that when she was very young that Carrie did see some of the things they did to her, but she didn’t think she remembered. Anna tells him that one of the times her wounds from where they tied her up got infected.
Roman and Marlena are in bed together and Chris calls waking them both up. Chris tells him that Kayla tied one on last night at Shenanigan’s as she was so upset over David Banning. He sent her home to her parent’s in a cab but she figured they would be upset so she showed up at his place instead and passed out in his room. He asks if Roman can call her parents and let them know she is okay. He predicts she is going to have one heck of a hangover. He observes this hasn’t been a great year for the Brady’s in the romance department. Marlena kisses him and tells him she isn’t complaining. He feels guilty like he is cheating now that he knows Anna is alive.
Marlena observes how quiet Roman is this morning and asks if he has told her everything about Carrie’s dream last night. Roman tells Marlena that it was more than a dream, but a memory. Marlena is horrified to learn that Carrie had seen her mother tied up. He reports that Anna had showed him scars on her wrists from where she had been restrained and the wounds got infected. He shudders as he can’t imagine what else the child might have seen. Before he leaves, she stops him and tells him they have to be honest with each other. He doesn’t feel like he has the right for her to put her life on hold this way. He came over last night as he needed her.
She points out that she needs him too. He says it is killing him that he can’t live up to his promise to marry her and that it isn’t fair to her. She asks if he is trying to tell her that it is over between them? He complains that if he files for divorce today that it will take months. He still has to find out the truth about what happened to Anna. He has a responsibility to get Anna back on her feet and Carrie to think of. He is overwhelmed and rushes out.
Marie comes over to console Marlena. Roman returns and apologizes for the way he left. She asks if he sent Marie over to talk to her. She feels clearer and knows now what they have to do. They hug onto each other tightly. He says it would kill him if he ever lost her. She knows what a wonderful man he is and she has to let him be that man. She knows she has been pressuring him lately and how guilty he feels about Anna. She gives him back his ring. As he starts to argue with her, she says it is only temporary. She says if she isn’t wearing the ring that maybe he won’t feel as much pressure. A glimmer of a smile as she promises that he isn’t off the hook yet. He declares he will marry her.
Marlena heads to Don’s for comfort. Gwen comes in to find them talking and their closeness is noticeable. Gwen asks about Marlena’s engagement ring. Marlena shares that she isn’t wearing it as they are slowing things down.
A glum Roman arrives at the station and Abe tells him that something is about to happen and they are about to have a break through about the yacht Anna was held on. Abe notices Roman’s mood and asks him if Carrie is okay? Anna? He says yes but it was a pretty rough morning. On Abe’s advice, he tries to call her but can’t locate her at the hospital as she took the day off nor is she at home (she is seeking comfort from Don). Abe is excited when Nicky brings in some information, he chortles in glee!
Abe has an idea of how to find the yacht and finally gets Roman’s attention. He drops Marlena’s engagement ring in the process and Abe notices and asks him what the hell is going on? Just as Gwen arrives and changes the subject. Of course she notices the ring as well. Gwen asks how his wife is? After she leaves, Roman complains “that woman drives me nuts”! Abe brings the topic back to why Roman has Marlena’s ring. Roman says that she gave it to him to take the pressure off of him but they want to be together and they WILL be together as soon as this mess is cleared up but it just isn’t right for now. Danny shows up and he is distracted by the pretty Nicky as well.
Marlena goes to the PD, though she tells Roman that she isn’t sure that coming was the best idea. He assures her that he is glad she did. She reminds him that he is stuck with her. She asks if there is a closet some place where he can just hold her. He doesn’t need a closet and takes her in his arms. Abe interrupts them and tells Roman and Marlena that the ship that Anna was held on is in dry dock. He tells them a witness is on his way into the PD, he knows the owner and Anna Brady. Roman happily tells Marlena that this could be it!
Chris calls Marlena and asks him to come over to Andersons. She asks what is up and he tells her that she isn’t going to believe it! When she enters, she sees him testing a robot, one of Gene’s inventions.
Marlena sees a sad Roman in the cafeteria and asks him what is wrong? He is still trying to protect her. She reminds him that he has given her so much strength and she wants to give him that back. Roman tells Marlena that Anna is going through tests after collapsing. He doesn’t know how much more of this any of them can take. Roman shares that the is looking for an apartment that he can share with Carrie now that school is starting and it is time he started being a father.
Roman gets a call from Abe and he invites Marlena to go with him to the PD as Abe has something to show him. She asks if he is sure that she wants her to come along. He assures her that he does. When they arrive, it is a box of Anna’s things from on board the ship. Roman reads the catalogue of things collected and it is very expensive perfume, designer clothes, and Roman questions how poorly she was treated. There is also a tape of a beautiful Anna drinking champagne and blowing out the candles on her birthday cake.
Roman says she hardly looks like she is being forced. Marlena is puzzled as all of the evidence shows she was living a wonderful life yet she shows up in Salem, sick and malnourished. Roman says everything points to Anna having been lying about the last 5 years. Kayla comes in and tells them that Anna has Mutiple Sclerosis. She explains that Anna is going to need a lot of support. Overcome with emotion, Roman asks what he can do? Anna’s doctors will let him know. Marlena puts her arms around Roman and promises to help him help Anna.
Later, Don comes to the hospital and gives Marlena emotional support as she pours it all out to her friend.
Marlena comes upon Roman and Carrie in the park, and Carrie happily shares that she is going to live with her daddy! When Carrie runs off to play, Roman asks Marlena how he can tell Carrie that Anna isn’t going to get any better. He tells Marlena that he wishes she could be a family with him and Carrie. She feels like she is already married to Roman and looks forward to being a true step-mother to Carrie. Roman appreciates that she has stood by him throughout this and the one thing that hasn’t changed is how much he loves Marlena.
Marlena goes with him to check out an apartment as Roman wants to give her a real home. They are stunned when Carrie asks when her mom is moving in? Roman explains that Anna has to take time to get well. When Carrie is alone with Marlena, she tells her that her mom still loves her daddy.

Marlena and Don talk about the robot demonstration for the board. Chris paces while he waits for word on the board’s decision. After Chris leaves, Eugene enters and he tells Marlena that he dreamed last night that she was alone and crying. Eugene tells her that he isn’t going to be her patient any longer as she needs him more as a friend than he needs her as a shrink. Marlena at Chris’ workshop talking to the new robot.
Marlena and Chris have a friendly lunch in the park. He asks her if he makes the robot talk if it would affect the board’s decision? She says they may have decided to approve the project. They are laughing and talking. He puts his arm around her teasing her with a pickle that she doesn’t want to eat, just as Roman and Carrie come upon them. Roman gets a weird look on his face seeing their closeness. Roman tells her that he called her to see if she wanted to join them but she had already left. Chris takes Carrie over to the swings so Roman and Marlena can talk alone.
Roman mentions that he has noticed she is spending a lot of time with Chris. She asks if he is jealous, the idea pleases her though he doesn’t find the humor. Then tells him he doesn’t have to answer that as it is all over his face. He also worries about all the heart to heart talks she is having with Don. She snaps, how does he thinks she feels when he is spending all of his free time with Anna and she isn’t even his ex-wife! He takes her in his arms and tells her that she is the only woman he wants. She immediately apologizes for his outburst. He admits to being afraid of losing Marlena, and she is afraid of the same thing.
Roman reports that he doesn’t think Anna is very realistic about her prognosis with MS. He knows stress can make it worse, so he told Anna to stop thinking about the divorce right now. Marlena looks disappointed but as a doctor understands. He tells her that he loves her and strokes her cheek as tears are running down her face.
Later that day, Marlena arrives bringing groceries to Roman. After Carrie leaves the room, she tells Roman how adorable she is. Marlena marvels that she didn’t think it was possible to love him anymore the day they got engaged but seeing him as a father makes him even more attractive. He tells her then they will just have to have loads of kids, and they both lean in to begin kissing. He tells her that he is sorry for being jealous of Chris earlier in the park.
Marlena shares that Carrie had told her that Anna is still in love with her daddy, the day he looked at the apartment and signed a lease. Roman thinks that is just wishful thinking on the part of a little girl. Roman asks why she didn’t tell him sooner? She says she was scared of his reaction. He says it wouldn’t have matter as it won’t change his feelings for Marlena. Roman shares that it saddens him that Carrie never learned how to play kids games, like hop scotch or know what a baseball mitt is. Marlena reminds him that Carrie is happy and adapting. When Carrie comes back in, she asks why she only lives with her daddy and not her mommie too? Roman is stumped and asks if he could answer her question later.

He tells Marlena that he found Anna collapsed on the floor. She had scars all over her back from where she had been beaten and whipped. He tells Marlena that he put her through hell by not believing her, he now knows that she is telling him the truth. Had he believed her sooner, he perhaps could have found out who did this to her.
When Anna’s doctor comes in, Roman reams him for not telling him about the scars. He informs Roman that Anna asked him not to tell anyone and that she would do it. Roman tells him that she never did and he only saw the scars by accident. Marlena comforts him as he deals with his guilt over not believing Anna. He swears he will catch the guy who did this to Anna and make him pay. Marlena observes that his feelings for Anna seem to have changed. He agrees that now he knows she is telling the truth, but assures Marlena that he loves HER and his feelings for her will never change.
Roman and Anna come upon Marlena at the hospital. Her symptoms of MS seem to be moving towards remission. After they leave together, Marlena stands alone at the nurse’s desk fighting back the tears. Sweet Tom comes up and gives her a hug and suggests she goes for a walk in the park. Unfortunately when she does, she finds him putting his jacket around Anna’s shoulder being very tender and protective with her.

Marlena says she is ashamed of being selfish. Roman contradicts her and says that she is the most giving woman he knows and kisses her sweetly.
Eugene and Marlena have dinner together at Doug’s Place. He is extremely nervous not sure how to transition from being her patient to being her friend. She suggests that he ask her to dance as the music plays. He gulps champagne and then takes her out to the dance floor. They dance and after he makes some moves, the crowd claps for them. Later, Eugene tells the robot about dancing with Marlena and how wonderful it was just like Fred & Ginger - cue the fantasy scene of him and Marlena ala Fred & Ginger.
Dvd #3C At the PD, Roman shows Marlena the artists sketch of the man who held her captive. He is so angry and he scares her a bit when he talks about just wanting a few minutes along with the guy. She is a calming influence and has brought him dinner to share at the PD. He knows this has all been rough on her. She suggests they not focus on the rough parts and just enjoy that they get to be together. He tells her sometimes he forgets just how beautiful she is, no wonder all the men want her. She reminds him that he is the only man for her. He apologizes again for being jealous of Chris. She teases him that Chris is not the man he should be jealous of. She tells him that she went dancing with Gene last night. She says they had a great time and he is a wonderful friend, but she is worried about him falling for her and getting hurt. Roman says of course he will fall for her, how could he not?
Roman tells her that she will be a great cop’s wife. Roman tells Marlena that Anna is serious about getting a divorce as soon as possible. Marlena says that Alice thinks it is time to pursue the divorce. Roman gets a call from NYPD who were tailing the man Roman is after but they lost him.
Roman is worried when Anna is missing and is working all night, desperate to find her.
Another day, Marlena heads to the PD. A triumphant Roman comes in to tell Marlena that they caught the guy who kidnapped Anna. She sobs that he hasn’t heard, Mickey is dead. She sobs in Roman’s arms. He asks how it happened? She reports that his plane went down. Roman wants to head over to Maggie’s but Marlena insists that she will talk to him about this. Mickey has died and it could have been Roman. He could have died going after the guy who held Anna. He assures her that he had backup and that is a risk he takes as a police officer. Roman promises that they are going to put him away for good. He just relieved that Anna survived it.
Roman and Marlena arrive at Maggie’s and Marlena goes to sit with her and offer her comfort. Maggie is in shock and can’t cry. She determines she has no time for grief, Marlena gives her sage advice of course.
Marlena is having breakfast with Carrie and Roman. She pulls Roman aside and tells him that she is worried about Anna. She mentions she stopped by the hospital and learned that Anna had been crying for hours after a woman visited her. Roman wants to protect Anna from further visitors. Marlena points out that for Anna to resume any type of normal life that she will have to learn some resilience to deal with stress. A sad Marlena asks Roman to hold her. She asks if he has heard anything about Don. He reports that he will come back for the funeral and then go back to Caracas. Roman is going to try to talk him into staying as he is needed more here. Marlena wishes they could stop thinking about everything and just forget about it all for a little while.
A shaky Anna calls Roman from the hospital. She tells him she needs to talk to him and it can’t wait any longer (call gets cut off). Marlena takes the kids to see Eugene’s robot. Later at the hospital, Roman has divorce papers that Anna has signed and she wants him to sign too. He looks sad as he stares at the papers. Marlena questions what is wrong and he says nothing.
Marlena and Kayla talk about their concern over Maggie not accepting nor grieving for Mickey’s death. Marlena and Chris arrive to pick up Maggie for the service. Maggie continues to insist that she is fine. When she seems faint, Chris tries to get her to sit down, but she refuses to sit in Mickey’s chair. She says she hasn’t been sleeping nor eating but doesn’t want them to worry about her. She keeps insisting that she is all right.
Roman and Marlena talk at the service. Marlena asks if Mickey was onto something about Stefano when his plane went down. She is worried about Don following his trail. She sighs that she is going to miss Mickey so much, he was like a big brother to her.
Later at Marlena’s, Marlena asks Roman if he has signed the divorce papers. He says no and doesn’t know why. Marlena points out that she cried for hours after the papers were delivered. He keeps worrying about what this kind of emotional upset will be and the physical affects. He feels responsible for her. He also has to get Anna down to the PD to identify the creep.
Marlena encourages that with the guy caught that Anna will be better able to handle the divorce. He feels guilty about the divorce that he is abandoning Anna. Marlena tries to explain that the dream of returning to Roman was what kept Anna going while she was held in captivity. She points out that she is now dealing with the dream dying. Anna knows that Roman moved on thinking she was dead and she is ready now and that is why she asked him to sign the divorce papers.
Marlena continues that Anna knows that Roman will never let anything happen to Carrie and Anna. She asks if there is any other reason he is reluctantly to sign the papers. She wonders if maybe he is thinking that he will get back together with Anna some day. She sighs with relief and cries in his arms when he says that he loves Marlena. He tells her he will sign those papers today!
When Roman returns later, he tells her that Anna identified the guy and so that is now completely over. He also tells her that he signed the papers! She is thrilled and gives him a big hug. He tells her as soon as the divorce is finalized he can marry Marlena! He tells her they were meant to be together. She asks him to recite their poem to her.
Marlena is at Roman’s having dinner with him and Carrie. She tells Carrie about Halloween and dressing up. Carrie asks several questions. Roman tells Marlena privately that she is a terrific mom. Marlena asks if Roman has told Carrie about the divorce. He says no but he needs to as Carrie keeps asking when her mom is going to come live with them.
When Roman and Marlena explain divorce to Carrie, she says she doesn’t want one. She says her mommy promised her that she could live with a mommy and a daddy. Carrie doesn’t want a divorce unless they can promise her a mommy and a daddy. They assure her that when he marries Marlena that Carrie can live with them both. She says daddy’s apartment isn’t big enough, when they suggest Marlena’s apartment she loves that idea. When Carrie realizes she will have two parents, and she is as happy as can be. She declares she will like having Marlena for a mommy.
Roman asks her for an explanation of why Marlena feels guilty? She admits she feels like she is stealing Carrie and Roman away from Anna. Roman insists guilt can’t change the past or Anna’s condition but somehow this doesn’t help Marlena. He looks forward to their life together and to giving Carrie brothers and sisters.
Roman arrives at her place bearing flowers, and gets a luke warm greeting. He gives her flowers because he loves her. Marie is with her and notices her reaction. When Roman goes to the kitchen to make breakfast, Marlena admits that she feels like she is taking everything from Anna. Marie says since she has been living with Anna, that she is sure their divorce would be inevitable. They were separated for five years and are very different people now. Marie encourages her to allow herself to be happy and to stop the self doubt and self guilt and to go celebrate life and not destroy it. Marlena agrees to start.
Marlena goes to get dressed and Roman comes back into the living room. He was hoping the flowers might make her smile. Marie encourages that Marlena is just feeling guilty. Roman has prepared breakfast with china and crystal and she laughs at the burned bacon. Marie takes her cue to leave them alone together. He tells her that she looks sensational. Touched she goes into his arms, crying.
She says she didn’t even thank him for the flowers. She tells him that she loves him so much. She cries why can’t she love the two of them together. He tells her to stop kicking herself for being human. He asks if Carrie asking about being with her parents if that is what is bothering her? She cries about feeling Carrie away from her mother. He asks if that is the only thing that is keeping her up at night? She assures him that she wants to marry him and be his wife. He promises her that he can’t be happy unless she is his wife. He says it will happen!
Cute scene as Marlena brings a Carrie, dressed in her Halloween costume, into the PD to see Roman. They make plans to meet up later. Next stop is at Maggie’s. Chris entertains Carrie while Maggie and Marlena talk. She feels like Anna is an outsider with her own child and that picture in her mind breaks her heart.
Later her and Roman snuggle on the dock and then he takes her home. He stops her from turning on the lights and he says the moon is more romantic. He tells her that Carrie’s sitter is going to spend the night so Roman doesn’t have to go home. Marlena continues to struggle with feelings of guilt over taking Carrie away from Anna. Marlena tells him that she is going to talk to a therapist to sort through her own feelings. He is 100% supportive if that is what she thinks she needs. He even offers to go with her if that will help. She is touched. He tells her he just wants to see that ring back on her finger. When the phone rings, Roman suggests that it is one of her friends with lousy timing. Turns out it is for Roman and he has to go, trouble on the waterfront is heating up. He doesn’t mind her worrying about him though, makes him feel wanted. She assures him he is, and kisses him soundly!
Marlena and Eugene walk down on the docks, he is still in his Halloween costume. Roman and Abe are walking the docks and come upon Eugene and Marlena. Roman suggests that it might be a good idea for them to go home. They make excuses about the damp air and their health. Eugene knows it is due to some type of police activity which of course Roman and Abe can’t discuss. Marlena tells Gene it is time for them to go.
The next morning at the PD, Marlena asks how last night went? He is grinning from ear to ear and shows her a piece of paper. She says, “Oh my!” He tells her that he has a court date for the divorce and this means they can get married by mid February. Marlena has mixed feelings as she continues to struggle with the guilt. She asks how Anna is feeling? She observes if Anna wasn’t so ill that Marlena would feel better about this.
Marlena chooses an old friend, Dr. Toni Stone, as her therapist. She feels Toni in on the background. Marlena identifies with losing DJ, and then she tells her about losing Johnny, her foster son. She identifies with Anna losing her daughter and Marlena can’t reconcile that she is taking the child away. Toni observes that Marlena’s sole purpose is taking care of everyone else and she wants Marlena to start self care and not only when she is serving others, to give herself permission to take good care of herself.
Marlena is hanging out with Gene waiting for Roman to arrive at Shenanigans. When Roman doesn’t show up and Abe’s girlfriend reports he went running out of there, Marlena becomes concerned and her and Gene head to the PD to wait for Roman there. When she arrives, Marlena shakily asks Abe where Roman is? He can’t answer her but tells her he is fine. Later while she waits in the outer office, Roman & Abe are heard yelling. Marlena enters the office and Roman assures her that he is fine.
Next Gene has a Casablanca fantasy with Marlena in the lead role.
Roman tells Marlena that he is so looking forward to marrying her in February. She wants to know what happened last night. He reminds her that he can’t talk about undercover work. She questions his argument with Abe. He shares that they just disagreed and Roman was being a hot head, but he has already apologized. He changes the subject and asks her how the therapy is going? He reports that while he was skeptical at first, he sees that therapy is working for her as she is much less tense and looks amazing.
Marlena tells him that Dr. Stone asked her why she didn’t feel she deserved to have good things in her life. She feels guilty when she looks around and sees how some people have so much less than she does. Roman assures her that she deserves all the best things in life, including him. They start kissing as Carrie and her friend interrupt them.
After the kids get off to school, Marlena tells him she never could have gotten through all of this without him. He asks if she trusts him? Roman assures her that they have done everything they can to help Anna. He tells her that Anna will always be a part of Carrie’s life but will go on to live her own life. Roman asks her to put back on her engagement ring. She agrees but still has guilt feelings.
Marlena shows Toni that she is wearing her engagement ring again. Marlena admits to feeling obsessed with Anna, thinking about how difficult her life has been and how much pain she has had. Toni points out that this obsession is interfering with Marlena’s own happiness. Every answer Marlena gives is always about how someone else feels. She tells Marlena that she is trying to overly controlling her life, and the feeling that everything is within Marlena’s power. Toni asks what is it from Marlena’s past that leads her to disregard her own feelings. She says she has ruined lives and now she has to pay for it. She tells her that her baby died while in her care, and then the strangler killed many women while she was trying to help him. She cries over her guilt that Samantha was killed and she feels responsible. Dr. Stone chews her out for trying to be a superwoman. Marlena admits to being afraid.
After her session, she is happy and excited and wants to talk to Roman about Carrie’s room at her penthouse. She is ready to start making plans. She tells him that she has had a lot of experience decorating boys rooms and she is excited to be able to do a little girl’s room. She says that Carrie has never had a home before. She suggests a circus design with a tent over the bed and animals on the walls, or a really girly pink frilly room.
He laughs that she can decide and just tell him what color to paint. He says that this is the first time that she has really talked about the future like it is really going to happen. She tells him that she loves him so much right now. He reciprocates and begins kissing her deeply. Mrs. H is embarrassed when she walks in and interrupts. Marlena happily shows Alice that she is wearing her engagement ring again!
As they say goodbye in the open doorway, they indulge in a deep kiss. Eugene comes in and notices that something is different and then spots the ring. He seems sad and she asks if he isn’t happy for her and Roman. He asks if they can still hang out together? She says yes, as Roman isn’t jealous and she really enjoys his dancing. She knows Gene wants someone special to be with and he will find her as he is a very special man. Eugene is writing notes to put in a bottle and throws them out in the harbor. He admits that he has been having fantasies of her, though assures her that they are PG only involving dancing. She tells him that is normal and it is okay but encourages him that he will find his person.
Marlena runs into Alex and Anna together at Shenanigan’s. Marlena asks if she could speak with her alone sometime, she will give her a call. Roman comes in and they are sitting together as Anna sits with Alex. When Roman grabs her hand, she self consciously pulls away. She doesn’t want to flaunt their happiness in front of Anna.
Roman arrives with Carrie to show her the apartment. She is happy as she loves elevator rides and then shares that her mommy does too! When they are alone, Marlena asks if Carrie understands that Anna won’t be living there. He doesn’t think she does and they resolve to talk to her together. Marlena surprises her with kitty kat pancakes and they sit down to have breakfast together. Roman asks if she thinks she will like living there. He reminds her that mommy will live somewhere else just like now. Roman tells her that Marlena is going to fix her up a very pretty room. She asks if she can have a stuffed elephant.
At the hospital, Gwen and Sandy give Marlena snarky looks on their way out of the cafeteria. Marlena starts worrying about Carrie’s room being finished right away. He reminds her that they have two months. He tells her that she doesn’t have to be superwoman. She gets an odd look, and he asks if he hit a nerve? Just something her therapist said to her.
On the phone, Roman asks her to meet for dinner. She asks what he is up to as she recognizes that devilish tone in his voice. He denies it and asks her to meet him at the Fish & Chips stand but then they will go somewhere afterwards though he is very vague about the details.
Roman & Marlena are on the dock eating from the Fishing Shack. She knows he is up to something but he is just giving her that devilish grin. He then takes her to Shenanigan's and gives her a replacement for the antique wine glass he broke. He then gives her tickets to Mazatlan, whenever she is ready and Danny is waiting to pop the champagne.
The next morning, they toast their orange juice in the antique glasses.

David & Renee’s wedding. Renee has asked Marlena to be her Maid of Honor. Roman walks into the chapel and chit chats with Doug and Stefano. Stefano asks if he has seen the bride to be. Roman says he has. He shares that she was a little nervous the groom wouldn’t show. They wonder where David is and Doug assures them that Scotty is so excited, he will make sure David is there. Meanwhile, Anna tells Alex that they have to get “?” (Roman’s boss?) before he Roman gets Stefano.
Marlena arrives at Roman’s apartment and wishes Carrie a Happy Thanksgiving.
Roman in his secret room, talking to?
Marlena gets therapy from Tori and cries as she works out her own past.
Last scene on this dvd, Anna is talking to Alex about the divorce and how “their plan” will take off once her divorce from Roman is final. He asks how that is going? She says there is so much lousy red tape with a divorce, though the wishes this was all over already. She complains about all the “sweetness and light” stuff. She calls Marlena, Salem’s Joan of Ark. She continues to snark (with total dripping attitude) that Marlena actually came to her to see if she was okay? Like she was actually asking permission if she could marry Roman.
So Anna tells him how she put on her magnanimous act for her, strong and brave… “You and Roman belong together. Be Happy” as she reenacts the conversation. Then she continues (showing her true colors), “Yuch! Doesn’t it just make you SICK!” Alex says they give Academy Awards for performances. He says he will be very sure never to get on the wrong side of her!
