Roman & Marlena #4 November 23, 1982 - February 11, 1983: 12 hour edit

DVD #4A Roman and Carrie return home from grocery shopping. He has obtained a recipe for “Tuna Delight” from Kayla. He is disappointed to find he forgot to buy the tuna! Marlena soon arrives bearing bags of groceries and she has brought tuna, as she also has gotten Kayla’s recipe!

Roman and Marlena are eating in the hospital cafeteria and he teases her as she inhales her food. Her improved mood with excitement of their upcoming trip, fueling her appetite. When Tom stops by, Roman thanks him for taking care of Carrie. He assures him that she will have a nice Thanksgiving with them. Roman still has to get in touch with his boss to get the time off. Alice comes in and is thrilled for them to get their holiday. Roman calls his boss from his office and we can her him yelling at Roman. Alice asks if that is Barney and she takes the away from Barney and tells him to stop it and talks to him like he is a little kid and puts him in his place and Barney stops arguing. Alice insists that Roman is going to have this time off. She works her magic and tells Roman that he has the time off!

Roman is at his place packing and on the phone, Marlena arrives and they leave for the airport. Someone is watching Roman. Roman and Marlena in Mexico. This is only about :25 minutes or so, quick trip over Thanksgiving weekend. *Note scene added as they make love the first night back in Mexico - :20 seconds (was previously missing).

:16 mins Anna & Stefano. Anna and Carrie arrive at Stefano’s, cute scenes as he is charmed by the adorable child. She is soon sent off to the kitchen for ice cream with Delia. Stefano Is glad the child is so comfortable in his home. She says that Carrie spent a lot of time in homes like his as she sent her away so she could “play with her love on the yacht”. Stefano questions how wise it is for Anna to be here. She says that she works for his son, and people will just think he has taken pity on Anna. He wants to know her reason for wanting to see him. Is she having problems with her plan to discredit Roman? She warns him there will not be ANY plan unless she knows why he is doing this? The phone rings and it is his guy in Mexico reporting in. Anna surmises from his end of the conversation that he is following Roman. Anna demands to know what they are doing to Roman and why! She wants to know if she is partners with Stefano or not? If they are then he should trust her. He says he doesn’t trust anyone.

She tells him that she does a very thorough job but she is working completely blind and would be more effective if she knew what was going on. He rejects this so she tells him the deal is off! She calls Carrie as he looks at her in surprise and wants her that he doesn’t respond to blackmail. She warns him that she will not be involved in something she doesn’t understand. Carrie bounces in and Stefano sends her back to the kitchen to finish her ice cream. She demands again to know what is so important about Roman Brady? He tells her that Roman is dangerous to him. He reports that he choose to settle in Salem as this city was free of organized crime. Anna doesn’t understand why Roman is a threat as he is a homicide cop? He tells her that Roman is part of a secret international crime fighting group and is a very dangerous man. Anna laughs at the idea of Roman being an international crime fighter. Stefano does not think this is funny. He reports that when he researched Roman that he found out about Anna and that is why he contacted her. Anna realizes her meeting Stefano was planned on his part. He warns her never to underestimate him.

Anna wants to know why he doesn’t just kill Roman? He declares that would be too risky as they would suspect him. He has decided to plan on discrediting Roman to remove him as a threat to Stefano and if that doesn’t work, there are “other ways”. She is adamant that she doesn’t want to be involved in that as she doesn’t want to spend the rest of her life in jail (not that she cares at all what happens to the father of her child!). Anna calls Carrie to return to give Stefano a small demonstration. She shows how she can hypnotize Carrie by simply staring into her eyes and saying, “Pinwheel”. Carrie starts hitting her and saying, “I hate you daddy!” Stefano is horrified and asks what is wrong with the child. Anna assures him she just hypnotised her and she is fine after she snaps out of it with no recollection. Anna smirks that Roman’s own 5 year old daughter will be the key to his downfall.

Another day, Stefano questions to make sure that they hypnotism isn’t harmful to Carrie. Anna assures him that the child just thinks it is a game and will not remember anything afterwards and will not harm her. He seems reassured as she chortles that Roman would never suspect his own daughter. Anna says that she will start small with a task soon, but she will wait until they are married and living together before she goes full out on the project. He asks about her health and she assures him that she is in remission from the MS. She tells him that she has her eye on a property in Monte Carlo and wants money. He refuses to give her anymore money until this plan is completed as the money could be traced to him. She insists and irritates him to the point that he warns her not to give him orders, that he gives the orders. When she continues, he warns her again to be careful not to make him mad. She points out that she knows things about him, allowing the threat to dangle. He is very stern when he tells her not to even think about trying to blackmail him. She whines that she is sick of Alice’s home cooking, wearing old rags, and having to spend every night with old maid Marie Horton. Stefano admits he has had his eye on her and might just take Marie off of her hands!

Roman is back at the PD, and Abe questions him about calling off a tail on one suspect that he thinks could be a good lead and put a tail on someone else with no criminal record. Roman argues that he thinks Ari was on a wild goose chase and questions doesn’t Abe trust his judgement. Roman says he has a hunch and Abe yells that he has nothing and he could set their investigation back by following unfounded hunches with this stupid move. Abe warns him if this happens again, this could really screw them up. Everyone is upset at all the drug OD’s in Salem. Abe wants to get the guys who killed Jimmy and get those drugs off the street! Abe declares that he won’t let anyone or anything stand in his way and that includes Roman! Marlena continues her counseling sessions with Tori.

Roman in his secret room reports about a third overdose. He declares that drugs have reached an epidemic proportions and he needs all the help he can get. They are not dealing with some small organisation and they are clever whoever they are. He says he can’t use Abe as he doesn’t know what Roman has been up to. Roman admits he has been doing things out of character which will make Abe suspicious but he assures that it will all work out in the long run. Abe arrives interrupting his call. He says he chased him down to the parking lot and followed him home trying to get his attention. Abe says he doesn’t know where Roman’s head has been. Marlena calls Roman and tells him she can’t make lunch as Eugene has a problem he needs help with. Roman laughs and tells Eugene that he will “get him for this”.

Eugene has brought in a pregnant teen, Mollie Sue Sanders, who needs help. Marlena talks to Eugene about his “bottle ladies”. She wants him to meet and ask women out in a more normal fashion. Roman comes in and tells him about Mollie, one of Eugene’s “Bottle Ladies”. At home, Roman and Marlena talk about Eugene and what a great guy he is. Marlena says maybe Kayla could introduce him to someone. He then asks about Marlena’s session with Dr. Stone? She tells him that she helped her figure out some things. She tells him that Eugene is not the only incredible man in Salem. He asks her if she has to go back to work. He tells her that he took Carrie over to see her mom and he doesn’t have to be back to work for a couple of hours. He picks her up and carries her off to the bedroom. Afterwards, she is in her robe and he is shirtless. He says he wishes they had the whole afternoon together and not just a couple of hours. When she tells him her thoughts are x-rated, he laughs that she sure isn’t the demure shrink.

Roman worries that he can’t find Kayla. He called to ask her if she could babysit. His mom said that she went out of town for a few days. Marlena tells him that Chris is also out of town. Roman is horrified at the idea of Kayla going with Chris and he gets upset and starts fuming as Marlena reminds him that she is an adult and Chris isn’t going to do anything to hurt her. Roman is starving so they get dressed up and go out to a fancy dinner and dance together.

*When they leave, Roman goes to pick up Carrie from the Dimeras where she is with Anna. Stefano comments on what a remarkable child she is. Soon they arrive home, and Carrie goes straight to her room and opens her music box. She takes a piece of paper out of her pocket and puts it in the box. She goes back out the living room and Roman dials Stefano’s number so she can call her mother. She snaps her out of the hypnosis! Scary as she acted completely normal. Roman making pancakes when Marlena arrives bearing their wedding invitations. Roman has a big smile as he asks if this means it is really going to happen? She asks if he is ready, and he declares he has been ready for a really long time. Carrie comments on how many invitations there are and Marlena laughs that they want the whole world to know.

Roman says he knows his mother is going to be inviting all the relatives including ones he doesn’t even know. Marlena tells Carrie that they will pick out a pretty dress for her to wear. She seems very excited about the wedding plans. Roman can’t believe that they are finally going to be a family! Roman holds her and tells her how glad he is that they are finally getting married. He kisses her sweetly as Carrie says, “Yuck!” Roman tells Marlena that he is taking some time off off. He shares that the dispute with Abe is still ongoing and he needs some time to work on that.

Over at her place, she warns him that her wedding dress is laying on the bed and it is bad luck for him to see it. He promises her that nothing is going to stop this wedding. She comments on Abe acting strangely and she hopes that when Abe is standing by Roman’s side in the church that she wants things to be the way they were. He agrees that so does he and he and Abe just have some things to work out. He asks if this wedding dress thing means he can’t go in her bedroom until the wedding? She laughs that she can put the dress in the closet. They snuggle in each other’s arms, neither of them wanting to leave for work.

Later that day at her office, they plan a romantic candlelit dinner together. He will bring the champagne and he asks her to get that wedding dress off the bed. She asks him to get a sitter so he can spend all night with her. He groans when he realizes he already has a sitter as he has to work late. Marlena arrives at Roman’s, she is concerned as she heard shouting. When she enters, she sees Abe. Roman says the shouting was about a work problem they disagreed on. Abe makes his excuses and takes off. He shakes Roman’s hand and calls him “Pardner” which seems like a softening. Marlena is relieved to see it and is glad it turned out all right. He says it was just a problem with the battle of their egos. He suggest since she came all the way over to check up on him (he wasn’t answering his phone as he was working with Abe), he suggests they make the best of it.

Later in bed, he notices that she seems sad. He asks what is bothering her? She admits that she is afraid that something might happen to him. She asks him to be careful as she couldn’t bear it if something happened to him. He promises and assures her that he would never do anything foolish as he has her and Carrie. He does warn her that sometimes his job gets dangerous and they will have to learn to live with that, but he will never take unnecessary risks that put his life on the line. She says she can’t say she won’t worry. He promises to always be there to take care of her and kisses her sweetly.

Reduced quality, Roman and Marlena tell Carrie about going Christmas caroling. Abe calls and warns him that trouble is on the way. He wants to know if Roman is alone, and he says that Marlena and Carrie are on their way out to work and school. He is suddenly distracted when he gets off the phone and Marlena asks what Is wrong? He says it is just work stuff which worries her. He distracts her by asking her plans for the day? She shares that she is having lunch with Eugene, he asks if he should be jealous? She continues that she will do some Christmas shopping and she has to make Carrie a donkey costume for the school play and has to go pick up the fabric. She raves that this will be the best Christmas ever!

Eugene has a jungle safari fantasy of him and Marlena.

Marlena asks Roman what his plan is for the day? She notices that he isn’t spending much time at the station. He observes he is spending more time on the streets for the next few days. Abe arrives but the scene cuts off as she leaves. Marlena and Eugene go to lunch together. Blooper at end of the scene as he falls off his chair and Dee cracks up. Back at the hospital, Marlena runs into Abe and Roman. Roman tells her he won’t be home for dinner tonight due to a routine dinner and asks her to feed Carrie. Marlena realises this is not a routine job. He says he just can’t be reached and it is department policy to notify your family so they don’t worry. She loves that he considers her his family.

At home, Carrie tells Marlena she makes better spaghetti and her daddy. Marlena says they can keep that their secret. Marlena tries on Carrie’s donkey hat and laughs that it is perfect. Carrie obviously loves it and they share a big hug as Marlena tells her how much she loves her and Carrie loves her too. Marlena shows up at the PD, as she was worried about him. Roman is concerned about her having to go through the gauntlet outside (her arrival not shown). Abe comes in and finds them smooching and says he is taking a break, as Roman and Marlena stare into each other’s eyes. He asks her if she was really worried about him. She reminds him that she loves him. He asks her to never stop. They walk outside in the cold and she insists on a kiss as she says that is their tradition. They wing up going to Shenanigan’s and he is sorry he can’t tell her what he and Abe are involved in. She observes that she can’t tell him about her patients. Roman is planning on having Christmas Day with his folks. They argue as she insists that they spend the day with Maggie as they can’t leave her alone. She suggests that they go to both places. Carrie arrives while Marlena is sitting alone, and Anna comes over to tell her that Carrie gets bad indigestion from onions. Marlena walks away and the scene is cut as Anna is left standing there with Carrie (assuming she plants the drugs in Romans jacket or she hypnotises Carrie into doing so).

Roman is at the PD, and a concerned Marlena is there asking about Roman. He tells her they are saying he is on the take and dealing drugs. Marlena is shocked, as scene is cut. Next Marlena is at home reading the newspaper with the headline, “Police Sergeant Under Investigation for Possession of Drugs”. When Roman sees her reading it, she asks him how they can do this to him? She points out that half the board believes he is innocent, but he points out that half does not. She asks how long this will take? He says he should know something this morning. Roman can’t prove that this evidence was planted, he can’t figure out how they got to him. She cries as she ells him that she believes in him, he knows that right? He never doubted it for a second.

A somber Don arrives and he reports the board is meeting right now and they will call him here with the result. Don shares that he believes Roman was set up. He cautions her that this happened at a bad time when the police department is vulnerable and they may have to make an example of him. She knows this is happening because Roman is so close to the drug kingpin. He points out all the anonymous tips about him being a bad cop and they caught him with drugs on him. She starts crying and gets almost hysterical and says she has to leave. She can’t stand there and watch this happens as she starts breaking down. He stops her and holds her and tells her he isn’t going to let her go anywhere this upset.

Don goes over Roman’s activities last night. Roman says that he and Marlena went straight to Shenanigan’s. Alex and Anna dropped Carrie off at their table and sit separately, (Marlena never thinks to mention that she left Anna alone by Roman’s jacket). Anna calls and asks Carrie to bring her music box with her as she is coming to pick her up for her doctor’s check up. Kayla hugs Roman with tears in her eyes and Carrie wants to know why Kayla is crying? Soon the phone rings Don receives the news that he shares with everyone. He says that since Roman doesn’t have any proof of being set up, he is suspended indefinitely. Marlena cries how unfair this is. Roman says they didn’t have any choice and he is confident he will be able to clear his name. As she is leaving, Roman wants her not to worry about this as he tries to reassure her.

Marlena goes to Cumming’s office to ream him for throwing Roman under the bus. She screams at him that the evidence is planted and they both know that Roman is not dealing drugs. She demands to know why he can’t see that. He declares he is just following the evidence. She warns him he is destroying the police force as Roman was set up and pretty soon he won’t have a police force. He is annoyed as all of Roman’s parents, and friends are calling him while community members are happy he acted so fast. Marlena argues that she is going to marry Roman and doesn’t he think she would know if he had changed. She complains that Roman is being sacrificed. Cummings argues that Roman is hanging with richer friends now and he is about to marry a woman who makes more money than he does. He reports that Roman has been taking a ribbing for living in her penthouse and reminds her that he is a very proud man. Cummins demands that she show him proof and she storms out.

A group is In the hospital lobby (Alex, Anna, Roman, Carrie, Marlena, Don) as Don says this is an official investigation now. Roman says this is all out war now that they have used Carrie and he won’t stand for it (note beginning of this scene missing, we don’t know how he found out). Don will need a statement from everyone. Roman takes Carrie off and declares she will be with him day and night for her own protection. Marlena and Eugene are walking on the dock and Eugene is nervous that this might not be safe. She declares she will find out how set Roman up if it kills her. Eugene says Roman better not find out about this or he will kill them himself. Eugene approaches one of the homeless guys huddle around a fire. He offers the guy cash for information. The guy turns around and tries to scare Eugene off. It works and he begs Marlena for them to leave as this isn’t safe. She insists that Roman is taking care of Carrie to keep her safe. He questions if Carrie is in danger. Marlena points out that someone got close enough to her to put those papers in the her music box. Marlena approaches the homeless guy begging him for help. They clean out their wallets of $55. As she looks into the guy’s face, she realizes it is Roman in disguise! He tells them they are both crazy. She tells him she didn’t want to cause any problems but she wants his name cleared.

Roman warns them they are to stay out of this as they could have gotten them all killed. He doesn’t want this to ever happen again! Marlena insists that they want to help him and she is determined that she wants to see him through this. She tells him she won’t stop fighting for him. He tells her that he loves her but he will not have her fighting his battles for him as it is too dangerous. They head over to Shenanigan’s to warm up. Marlena starts questioning Danny about the other night to see if he saw anything. He reports that he did notice some guy watching Roman. Marlena thinks she has found a lead until Roman shares that was a cop! Roman warn them again that whoever set him up has unlimited resources and is very powerful. He doesn’t want to see either of them get hurt. She asks if Carrie is safe at his apartment. He says no and that is why they are moving into her penthouse. She grins and says this reminds her of when they first met, happy with that prospect. Then he points out they can’t sleep together and her face falls. She points out that this could be so dangerous that she better not ever leave him alone. He does suggest that Carrie will have play dates with Scotty and visit the Hortons. He tries to get her to promise for her and Eugene to give up the detective work but she refuses to make that commitment.

Marlena, Alice and Eugene are with Scotty at the hospital and he is in a lot of pain. Eugene brings the robot in to distract him. Roman arrives and asks how Scotty is? He is headed up to surgery and the robot gets to scrub in too. Later, Marlena finds Roman in the staff lounge and Abe leaves as she comes in. Roman tells her that the board has decided to take the charges against him to the DA to review. He continues that he has been fired from the force. He says it will be awhile before the DA’s office can prepare to bring him up on charges and have a trial. He tells her there are bad cops and the department can’t look like they are looking the other way, even though the evidence is flimsy. Marlena continues her campaign to investigate as no one would expect her or Eugene. He warns her that he doesn’t need her playing super hero and putting her life at risk. She promises again not to do anything that will put herself in danger. She knows she doesn’t have his training but she is a psychiatrist and knows how to get people to talk. He is frustrated in his fear over her safety. Don calls and tells Marlena that he is stepping aside. Marlena doesn’t care what the board thinks, she wants Don to handle his case. The line goes silent as they get cut off.

Marlena and Eugene go to Shenanigan’s and run into Abe there. Marlena asks Abe if they can talk? She asks Abe if he knows where Roman is? He says he is meeting with an attorney. Abe says he knows about what her and Gene were up to the other night on the docks and warns her she couldn’t have gotten hurt. Danny approaches and he is in Roman’s corner and tells her to let him know if she needs anything. Marlena asks Abe if someone he loved was in trouble, wouldn’t Abe do everything to help him? She tells him not to ask her not to try to help him. Marlena tells Eugene that Roman wanted her to stay home. When Roman comes in, he tells her this is one big mess. He tells her about meeting with the lawyer as Marlena is in tears. He tells her that he will have his day in court. Marlena stops and tells Eugene that she is not giving up on this, she is determined to help Roman. Outside, Roman and Marlena see that it is snowing. They vow the not think about their troubles tonight and just enjoy the holiday. They joyfully kiss as though they didn’t have a care in the world.

Once they are home, they finish decorating the tree. She wishes she could give Roman what he wants for Christmas. He doesn’t want to talk about it tonight. He is very reassuring and tells her that things are not always what they seem. She thinks there is something he isn’t telling her. Just as he takes her in his arms to kiss her, the door bell rings. Eugene is seen on the monitor and tells them he has great news about the robot. The threesome all toast Eugene’s good news with champagne. The robot has been approved to join the hospital staff. In joy Eugene leans in and kisses her Marlena on the lips and then immediately apologies to Roman. Eugene gives Marlena a big box. She finds a plant inside. He tells them it is one of his inventions and it will predict the weather. On a rotten weather day the plant will get brown and shrivel, and when it is a good weather day, the plant will thrive. Marlena turns around and asks Eugene what it means if all the leaves fall off the plant? He groans, back to the drawing board. Carrie comes out and admires the beautiful Christmas tree. Carrie observes the plant looks bad and then says that when the leaves fall off it means it will snow. Marlena has made a decoration for the top of the tree, and one of the stars has Carrie’s name. Roman notices several of the stars are blank and Marlena grins that is for their little stars that aren’t born yet!

*They arrive at the hospital for the Christmas party (now :11 mins was only 3 mins). Doug starts the party and gathers the children around. They sing “Deck the Halls” and Santa comes in bearing presents for the children. Next Liz sings, “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas”. Roman, Marlena, and Carrie enjoy a quiet moment at home as Roman reads her the Christmas story as Marlena explains that Christmas is about more than just presents. In the morning, Roman is sleeping shirtless on the couch and Marlena wakes him up with a kiss. She tells him that she wishes they were married right now and they could spend all of their time together.

Eugene calls Marlena and says he did run “that errand” but it is not very good news. Roman is looking at the job listings. She encourages that the charges will be dropped and he will not stand trial, and he will get his job back. He appreciates her support, but he can’t just sit around. He is determined to go find a job today. He warns her to stay off the waterfront and stop looking into this case. Eugene arrives and Roman overhears him on the monitor saying that he has bad news, it is going to be murder getting down to the waterfront. Roman is furious at both of them, and when Eugene enters the penthouse. Roman threatens him. He warns both of them again to listen to him. He demands to know where she is at every minute of every day. When Eugene makes himself scarce, Roman tells her that she is one of the most previous things in the world to him and if anything happened to her that he doesn’t know what he would do. After Roman leaves, Eugene comes out and is wowed that when Roman blows his top, he really blows up. He suggests that their plan is off? She says no way, she is determined to help Roman prove his innocence and get back on the police force. He groans that Roman will skin them alive. She wants to know what he found out? He shares that she is being followed and Marlena surmises it is one of Roman and Abe’s guys keeping tabs on her. Over at the hospital, Marlena is grateful that Eugene is going with her. She tells Eugene he is right that someone is watching her and she comments that this is dangerous. He admires how she is fighting for her man. He thinks she is going to find evidence that will clear Roman before New Years!

Eugene has a western fantasy of him and Marlena, and Roman coming in and stealing her away as he takes her in his arms and kiss her. Eugene laments that he will never be anything from her friend. When he comes back to reality, he sighs that he doesn’t even win in his own fantasies.

Marlena returns with a plan to sneak out the side door, and catch a cab from there. She says that they have got to help Roman, and if this doesn’t work they will try something else. Eugene whines that she knows Roman is going to kill them! When Danny arrives at the hospital, Marlena pulls him into the staff lounge. She wants to talk to him about the drug dealing at Shenanigan’s. Danny is upset as he runs a clean place. She knows that he might not be aware of it. She asks him to keep his eyes and ears open for this kind of thing. She reminds him that Roman was set up. She asks him to listen to the customers and let her know if he overhears anything. She is trying to help Roman but needs his help to do it. Danny recognizes how determined she is. She reminds him that her and Roman are getting married in February and he wants this all cleared up before then. He agrees and tells her about a young girl that he thinks is high and using a fake ID. Marlena is excited as this is the first lead. He asks her if Abe and Roman can’t solve this case, what makes her think she can? He asks her to watch out and not get herself into trouble. She asks him not to tell Abe or Roman what she is up to as they wouldn’t like it. He tells her that he can’t make that promise.

Renee is brought into emergency after falling down the stairs at the DiMera’s. Marlena talks to Tony outside.

*Roman goes to see Don. He says that it was murder walking down the hall as people he has known wouldn’t even look at him. Don knows that Roman was set up. Roman asks him to keep that fact quiet. Don knows that Roman wants to look like a bad guy, like he is washed up. Don is worried about Marlena. Roman says he has someone watching her. Don figures he can’t cover her 24/7 and Roman needs all the help he can get. Don promises that he is behind Roman all the way.

Back at the hospital, Marlena gets a call from Danny and tries not to take is as Roman is suspicious when she doesn’t take the call. She decides to talk to him and he tells her the kids he was telling her about are at Shenanigan’s. She pretends they are talking about a fundraiser so Roman won’t clue in. He looks at her suspiciously and Eugene acts nervous when Roman looks his way. In the lounge, Roman demands to know what she is up to? She pretends innocence but he isn’t buying it. She promises she isn’t doing anything dangerous and promises to be careful. He wants her to go straight home and stay with Carrie. She promises to be home before dinner and not go out again. What she doesn’t tell him is that she is getting off work earlier today. He says he will call her around 8:00 and she better be home. As he leaves, he warns her again to stay out of trouble.

As soon as Roman leaves, Danny calls and tells her that the girl he was telling her about came in but she has already left but had said she would return. When she tells Eugene, he says “Great!” as he is relieved. Meanwhile, Roman calls Don and tells him that he just left the hospital and Marlena is up to something. He asks him to keep an eye on her. Roman is afraid that Marlena is going to do something crazy and lose her tail. Don declares she has always been the most stubborn woman in the world. He teases Roman that she is good company and Roman reminds him who she is marrying. Marlena and Eugene are pacing at the hospital. Eugene worries that Roman Is really going to make him pay for this. Danny calls back and informs her the girl is back and she is definitely high. Marlena asks him to keep her there as she is on her way. Marlena tells him to go into the lounge for five minutes so they aren’t seen leaving together, and then meet him on the corner.

Just as she is headed to the elevator, Don gets off and tells her he wants to talk to her. He thinks she is up to something, and Roman thinks the same thing and wants her to stay out of trouble. He is going to Doug’s Place and wants her to come with him. She says she has to go up to the fifth floor to see a patient. She suggests that he go wait in the lounge with Eugene which mollifies him and she says she will return to meet him. He notices the elevator is going down and he realises she just gave him the slip. Don calls Roman and tells him that he is going to love this. He asks Roman to hold on as Eugene is exciting the lounge. Don stops Eugene and demands to know what they are up to. As he tells Roman what is going on, Eugene slips out. Marlena and Eugene arrive at Shenanigan’s and Danny points the girl out. Abe calls looking for them and Danny lies and says he has’t even them. Nicky is there and asks if she is hiding from Roman as he didn’t want Marlena hanging out at Shenanigan’s and Nicky predicts Roman will be furious.

Marlena tells Eugene to wait inside for five minutes as she is going to follow the girl outside and try to get her to talk to her alone. Marlena strikes up a conversation but the girl passes out. Eugene comes out and Marlena sends him back in to call the paramedics. Eugene calls the operator for emergency services as Roman walks in. Danny cringes realizing Roman will know his part in this, and Roman tells Eugene that he will deal with him later. They get the girl to the hospital in time and Marlena reports she will make it. When they are alone, Roman confronts her that he lied to him! She says no that she did not lie to him. He yells at her to butt out, that he doesn’t want her help. He storms off as Eugene observes that wow he is really mad. Marlena fumes that they haven’t even seen mad yet and she storms off.

The next day at the penthouse, Marlena asks him to come eat lunch. She calls him out that he hasn’t spoken to her since yesterday. They argue as Roman calls her out on what she was doing and took an unnecessary chance. She defends her actions and that she helped this girl and she did not get hurt. Carrie hears them arguing and comes out and asks if the wedding is off? They sit her down and explain that they are getting married but were just having a disagreement. Roman tells her that just because grown ups argue doesn’t mean they don’t love each other. When Carrie leaves the room, Roman promises Marlena that she will be covered with plain clothesmen and she won’t be even able to get gas without being watched. Marlena is determined to help the girl that just OD’d and insists that she will talk to her, and they continue arguing. Carrie comes out and asks what the disagreement is this time?

Marlena visits the girl in the hospital. Roman soon arrives and tells Marlena that Abe is on his way to talk to the girl. Marlena refuses to allow Abe to question her until she is ready, she does not want her upset. Later, Roman points out that he isn’t the only one who has been hurt by these people when he sees the kids that are getting messed up on the drugs. Roman says those kids could lose their lives and the drug pushers probably already know that they have her. He knows it is too late to try to convince Marlena to stay out of this. She declares they should have known better than to try to take on her future husband! They never figured they would have to contend with Marlena either. He states that he is not letting her out of his sight! She invites him to go out with her for New Year’s Eve. They kiss sweetly as he tells her this is going to be a pretty good darn NY. Eugene approaches and asks about Pamela. He apologizes to Roman and says that they couldn’t watch him get sunk without trying to help. Roman tells them both very firmly that they are not to get involved anymore or he will have Abe arrest them! Eugene gets a call from another bottle lady for a date for NYE and comments that she sounded strange.

Dvd #4B On NYE as they arrive at the hospital, Marlena determines that Pamela WILL lead her to the drug dealers who are responsible for her overdose. Roman warns Marlena that whatever Pamela tells him that she has to keep it quiet. He does wish she wasn’t involved in this but seems to have accepted it. Marlena tells her about Roman being in trouble. Marlena tells her that he has enemies in Salem that want him off the police force. Marlena shares that how she wants to help him and she wants him back on the job. She thinks whoever sold the drugs to Pamela might having something to do with Roman’s situation. Pamela says this guy must really be something. Marlena asks her if she would like to meet him? When she agrees, Marlena brings him in and then they talk to her together. Pamela says that the guy she bought the drugs from was named “John” but she says it is unlikely that is his real name and gives them a description and tells them about overhearing him talking to someone named “Pat”.

Roman and Marlena go out for NYE. As they walk into the party, Stefano is across the room and says something about knowing whether Roman will live or die (sorry this scene was cut off). As Roman dances with Marlena, he stares daggers at Stefano. Roman tells Abe the info they obtained from Pamela. Marlena encourages that they will learn more when Abe sounds disappointed that was all the information she uncovered. Soon it is the stroke of midnight and everyone kisses and wishes each other, “Happy New Year” as Auld Lang Syne plays.

Later at home, Marlena makes up his couch bed. Roman complains that not sleeping with her is killing him. She reminds him that he is doing this for Carrie. Marlena offers that once they are married, that she will think about letting him sleep in her bed. She tells him that Carrie is sound asleep in her bed and they start making out on the couch as Carrie sneaks out to the living room. She bursts out, “Happy New Year!” surprising them. She climbs into their lap as Marlena tells the child how she means everything to them. Roman promises the happiest of New Years with blue skies every day. Marlena offers that it will be the first of many happy new years.

1/3 Roman has a nightmare while sleeping on Marlena’s couch, he dreams Stefano is threatening her and wakes up with a start. She also can’t sleep and comes out and snuggles with him. Next morning, Roman is looking for a job while Marlena encourages him that he will be getting his job back soon. Marie calls to wish her a Happy New Year! Roman notices how jumpy she is. He offers her a ride to work as he is going to see if there are any job openings at the hospital. While he is waiting for his appointment with personnel, she wishes him luck. Marie stops by after Roman has left and Marlena asks her for the records of all the patients who have been involved with drugs.

:2 1/2 mins. Roman stops by to chat with Kayla and tells her that he is there looking for a job, but reports no openings at the hospital and they put him on a wait list. While Roman is waiting, Anna stops by and they have some awkward chatter. She asks if he has set the wedding date, and he tells her it will be in early February. Marlena and Neil talk at the hospital, then Marlena and Eugene.

:5 mins Roman & Abe talk in the secret room. He reports that they will have to escalate their plan against Stefano DiMera. Abe is amazed by Roman’s set up in his secret room. He can’t believe Roman has been a spy all of these years. Roman tells him that he never wanted to keep any of this from him, but he had too. Roman tells him Stefano has to be stopped. Abe asks what Roman is going to tell Marlena about this sudden trip? Roman says he has to think of a way to slip out of town. He decides he is going to get one of those jobs he has been applying for. He is going to be set up as a cargo truck driver on an out of town run. Roman tells him that he is the only one that knows this plan, but he may have to let Don in on this. Roman tells him that it is going to be a lot tougher for Abe to keep an eye on Marlena and Eugene, than the meeting Roman has to go to in Zurich.

Kayla faints at the hospital. Marlena calls Roman and asks him to come to the hospital right away. Kayla has been taken to emergency. When Roman arrives, Neil tells him they are still running tests but have no idea what cause this and she still has not regained consciousness. Roman asks to talk to Neil in private. Meanwhile, Eugene tells Marlena that he had a vibe of someone innocent being hurt deliberately but didn’t know it would be Kayla. Marlena urges him to tell Roman right away.

:2 1/2 mins Roman, Abe, and Neil go into the staff lounge. Neil mentions the unlikely idea of poisoning. Roman says maybe not so unlikely, could be someone to get at Roman. Abe asks Neil to only report to Roman as he doesn’t want anyone to know about this. Chris walks in and demands to know what is going on? He demands to know why this is police business. Roman wants to focus on Kayla. Next, Eugene stops Roman to tell him about his impression of a woman being deliberately hurt. Roman thinks this was about what happened to Kayla. Everyone waits around for news on Kayla. Neil comes out and says all the test results aren’t back yet but it isn’t good news. Kayla is slipping into a coma.

:8 mins Roman privately asks Neil if he has the poisoning test results yet, but no he is still waiting on those. Abe and Roman talk privately as they are trying retrace Kayla’s steps today. Marlena and Chris help out, though Chris is puzzled and asks why is this a police matter? Roman tells him that they think someone tried to hurt Kayla to get to Roman to hurt him. Chris wants to know why Roman didn’t tell him Kayla might be in danger. Roman says he didn’t know. Chris wants answers that Roman can’t give him. Chris accuses him that Kayla is in a coma because of him! Marlena rushes over and stops Chris and tells him he is wrong! Alice arrives and Roman tells her that Kayla has taken a turn for the worse but asks her not to tell his parent’s just yet. Later, Chris apologizes for being so hard on him.

Roman tells him a couple of childhood stories about Kayla, how he couldn’t stay mad at her when she looked at him with those big blues eyes. Neil return and pulls Roman aside and tells him that Kayla was poisoned. Neil wants to know what he wants to tell everyone? Roman points out that the lab techs know so will be all over the hospital so he might as well tell them. Neil shocks everyone by telling them that Kayla was poisoned. Chris demands to know if she is going to live? Neil reluctantly tells them that he does not know if she will live or die. He recommends they all pray! He shares that they will watch Kayla around the clock and just be patient as will take time. Don and Maggie arrive and are told about the poisoning.

:5 mins. Abe and Roman go into the lounge to discuss the situation with Don. He wants to know if this could have been accident. Roman declares, no way that this was a warning. Abe observes that Roman facing charges and getting kicked off the force wasn’t enough, they want him to back off. Roman knows they want him out of Salem. Abe says that they know Roman won’t stop due to threats to his own life. Roman shares this is an old tactic that usually works. Abe tells Don that they will be working closely together to provide Marlena protection as Roman has to go to Zurich for a few days. Roman declares he isn’t going to leave as his little sister is laying in there maybe dying. Abe pushes that this is exactly what his enemies want! Abe wants Roman to get mad and fight, and put his enemies behind bars!

Roman and Abe arrive back at Roman’s secret room. Abe hopes maybe Zurich has some answers. Roman is determined to protect her and is NOT leaving town. Abe insists he go to Zurich and meet with his ISA pals. Abe promises he will personally protect Kayla like she is his own sister. Marlena shows up and Roman tells her that he is going out of town. She asks if he is losing his mind? Marlena says it is time he fills her in on what is going on. Abe tells her she will never know what he and Roman are working on and that answer is final! Abe tells her that Roman is leaving on a truck driving job and he expects her to make all of her friends believe it. She snarks that doesn’t that seem a little strange that Roman would leave town for a job when his sister is fighting for her life! Abe takes off to give them time alone together. A sad and crying Marlena tells him that there are a lot of rumours flying around the hospital. She asks him if it is true that anyone close to him could die? His somber face gives her the answer she doesn’t want.

While Roman is out of town, Marlena spends time with Eugene, and then with Don. Marlena sees a shadow on her balcony and runs for her front door. A hand on her shoulder from behind scares her half to death, but it is just Roman returning home. Marlena recognises that he was on the balcony to see if he had been followed. She shows him the morning newspaper that announces that Don has quit his job as the DA.

:4 mins. Roman visits Kayla in the hospital. She is thrilled to see her big brother. She doesn’t believe his truck driving cover story, though she knows him too well to ask questions. She knows that her being there is because she is close to him, but he can’t discuss it. He tells her how sorry he is that this happened and he knows he can’t make it up to him but he is going to try. She says that he can do so by getting whoever he is going after. She brags that they don’t know what they are doing going up against the Bradys!

Outside her room, Roman thanks Tom for everything he and the staff have done for her. Tom gives him his support for what he is involved in. They are both puzzled about Don’s resignation. Roman joins Marlena and Eugene in Kayla’s room. She is tired out so they all head out. Back home, Roman carries Marlena over the threshold. He teases her that he is practicing for their honeymoon. She asks if he is going to have to leave town again, and she looks sad. He doesn’t every want to come and see her that scared again.

:5 mins Roman asks Abe if everyone bought the truck driving trip? Abe laughs that everyone except for Marlena. Roman reports the ISA has a new plan to catch Stefano. The first part of the plan is to figure out who his next victim will be. Roman continues that they want Stefano to believe that Roman is completely alone and disenfranchised with no support from anyone. Stefano is following and watching Roman, but he won’t have anymore protection from here on out. If they think that Roman is alone and vulnerable that maybe they will go after Roman rather than someone he cares about like Marlena or Carrie. Roman observes that Stefano is on a Julius Cesar kick and thinks he can rule the world and everyone in it. Stefano is on a power trip and goes nuts if he thinks anyone is trying to attack, and becomes irrational and desperate. Roman states they have to continue doing what they are doing, trying to interrupt as many drug shipments as possible and hassling him whenever they can and eventually he will crack and do something to tip his hand. Abe worries what if he goes after someone else close to him like the Horton’s or the Williams’, they can’t protect them all.

Chris comes running in and demands to be in on this, he refuses to stay out of it. Roman knows that Chris wants Kayla to stay with him when she is released so he can protect her. Roman wants to listen in when Chris tries to explain that to their parent’s. Abe tells him that he isn’t trained to help, and Roman agrees absolutely not. Chris determines then he will have to work on this on his own. Roman threatens to have him locked up for his own protection if he interferes. Abe thinks if Chris goes after Stefano hard enough that this will lead to him feeling harassed. Roman shares that a lot of people in Salem are suspicious of Stefano. He says that both Don and Doug feel that Mickey has something to do with Doug’s death.

Roman and Marlena enjoy a walk and a night out. He seductively tells her he is hungry and they can “enjoy” each other later on.

:4 mins. Roman spots Abe at the bar and goes over to invite him to join them. Abe turns down the invite to give them time alone. Roman points out the guy that is tailing him to Abe. Don soon arrives and pulls Roman aside. Roman tells Don that he was followed here. Roman asks Don to pretend that he is new Defense Attorney. Don says no pretending he is. Roman laughs that he can’t pay him! Don won’t take no for an answer. He wants to be filled in on Zurich. Roman says there is a new plan but he can’t go Into it in such a public place. Roman does share they may need some help from Doug and Julie. Don mentions Ridgecrest may be involved in Stefano’s move to the states. Roman admits he can’t talk to many people, looking at his tail. Don offers to act as a go between as he has a reason to be talking to Roman. Roman tells Marlena about Chris wanting Kayla to move in with him. She smiles that the Bradys are going to love that idea. Roman is taking her home and says that he has to go meet with Abe after her drops her off. They take a moment outside to just enjoy the moon, the stars, and “us” and gives her a kiss. He wants to get his meeting with Abe over so he can get back to her, though he isn’t looking forward to another night on the sofa. She promises it won’t be for much longer. In the car ride, she notices him constantly looking in the rear view mirror. He loves that she worries so much about him and just tells him how much she loves him.

:4 mins Roman arrives at the PD to meet with Abe. Roman asks what is going on with him and Nicky. Abe doesn’t want to talk about it and states he is not going to date anyone from the department. Chris brings in the guy following Roman. Chris demands to know who he is and what he is up to. Abe gives Chris the idea and tells him to knock it off as Chris is screaming at the guy. Abe warns the guy they know he is following Roman and has him arrested. As Chris is leaving, Roman tells him to stop interfering. Chris says that he is not staying out of this not for one minute. After Chris has left, Roman observes he isn’t a bad guy to have on his side. Roman also worries that Abe could be a target as he is close to Roman. A cop comes in and tells them that Casey is dead. He was shot in the back and there was a warning note, “Keep Roman Brady off of our backs!” Roman is furious as Casey and Kayla grew up together, and he was killed because of Roman. Short clip of Stefano saying that Roman needs another warning.

Mid Jan Roman has a nightmare of Stefano and his goons entering her penthouse, grabbing her as Roman screams, “Doc” and Stefano shoots her! He wakes up with a start shaken. Marlena is there to comfort him as he was calling out in his sleep. She consoles him that it was just a nightmare. Roman tells her he keeps dreaming of people dying all around him. He knows Kayla was poisoned because of him, then Casey’s dying (the good cop shot in the back). Marlena figures that Roman knows who is behind this and he admits that he does. She asks why can’t he stop them then? Because all they have is speculation, he responds. When he sees Casey’s murder splashed across the front page, he looks like he has taken a punch to the gut. He tells her he can’t discuss this with her, he can only talk to Don and Abe about this case. Speak of the devils, they have just arrived. Marlena leaves them alone to talk.

:40 seconds Don knows that Roman is blaming himself for all of this. He agrees this is because of his involvement with the ISA. Don wants to get the proof and go get DiMera! Abe reminds them of the psychological profile that indicates Stefano will panic under pressure? He thinks it is coming true. Roman agrees that Stefano is going to crack. Marlena returns and the guys take off. Marlena is somber and Roman puts his arms around her and asks what is eating at her? She admits that she is worried about the danger he is in. Someone wants to hurt him badly and that frightens her. After what they did to Kayla and Casey, how long until they go after him directly. He promises to get to them first! Roman holds her and kisses her fear away. She shows him a stack of RSVP’s for their wedding.

:2 mins Don arrives and asks Roman how it is going? Roman tells him not that good. He is so worried about her being Stefano’s next target. Don reassures him that they will stop DiMera before he strikes again. Roman reminds him they do not have the evidence. Don suggests that they want to plant someone in his house. Roman points out that they already tried this. Don says not a servant, he wants to set up someone to attract Stefano romantically. Roman warns that if they don’t get a break soon that Roman is going to over there and personally break Stefano.

Maggie calls for Marlena, excited about the wedding and tells her everyone in town is talking about it. When Marlena goes in the other room, Don asks Roman if she is okay? Roman observes that she is a tough one. Don encourages that DiMera is not invincible. Marlena returns as Don is stating that Stefano’s days are numbered. He covers by saying that his days on the board are numbered.

At the hospital, Chris is at the nurse’s station talking to Mr. Brady. He is obviously against Kayla moving in with Chris. He insists that the is going to take care of her and protect her and this is the best. Next Marlena walks in on Chris and Alex are arguing. Alex is against the hospital buying another robot. Stefano walks in interrupting and asks to talk to Alex alone (scene not included).

:2 mins Roman stops by Chris’ to visit Kayla. He has a message from their dad. He has accepted her staying there for now but would like to know her plans for afterwards.

A perceptive Alice comforts Marlena in the hospital coffee shop. She is worried about her keeping everything bottled up to try to protect Roman from her fear. Alice is upset as Marlena should be just happily looking forward to her wedding. Alice gets her to admit how angry she is over someone trying to snatch her happiness away. Marlena admits to sometimes being paralysed with fear over who will be next. She cries that if anything happens to him that she couldn’t stand it and she sobs. Maggie arrives and encourages her not to let anyone take her happiness away. She points out the bridal shower is coming up and everything to look forward to. When Roman walks in, Alice tells her that her happiness just came through the door. Marlena goes into his arms and kisses him.

Marlena buzzes up a delivery man from Lawson’s who gives her a package. Roman comes in and yells at Marlena not to touch the package, and yells at the delivery man not to move! Marlena calms Roman by telling him these are her wedding shoes. He carefully opens the package to find it is indeed her wedding shoes. Marlena realizes that he thought the package was a bomb and asks him how long they can continue to live like this?

Anna brings Carrie to Roman and Marlena. She asks to talk to them both. While Carrie is out of the room, she shows them that her divorce papers have arrived and the divorce is final! She tells them that she hopes they will both be very happy. Cute scene as Roman tells Carrie about the wedding. She asks what a “Best Man” is? He tells her he is the guy who keeps the groom from fainting. Carrie laughs that daddies don’t faint.

Marlena approaches Eugene at the nurse’s station. He gets an impression that Roman has good news and asks her what it is. She announces that the divorce papers have arrived, as Alice congratulates her. They ask if she has such good news why the long face? She tells them that when her wedding shoes were delivered that Roman thought it was a bomb. She is very jumpy and when Gretchen drops something, Marlena almost comes out of her skin and understates that she is a “little nervous”. Alice tells her she needs to take the rest of the day off. She agrees that she shouldn’t be working in this state. She shares that Roman is at Shenanigan’s and Eugene declares that is where they are off to and sticks close by her.

:4 minutes Roman meets Abe at Shenanigan’s. He goes over their undercover options, and their backgrounds. They have to make a decision on which person to send into the DiMera household. They both agree that it is a dangerous assignment but they are all highly skilled and real lookers who might appeal to Stefano. Anna and Alex come in and briefly say hello. Abe laments that he would sure like to get Anna out of “that house”. Abe wants to wrap this up before the wedding. They discuss how Stefano is laying low, almost like he knows what they are up to.

Eugene has escorted Marlena to Shenanigan’s and Roman thanks him. When Marlena spots Anna and Alex sitting at a table, she suggests they go home instead.

Marlena goes to see Alex to ask him for help with a project. She wants to create a shelter on the riverfront and will use her own funds to get started. She wants to help the kids who have gotten into drugs. She tells him that she will need additional funding later on to keep it going and wanted to ask the hospital board for support. She admits to not only wanting to help the kids, but perhaps she can get information that will help Roman as well. He is irate that she would want to use hospital funds to help Roman Brady. He accuses Roman of being on the take and she asks where he gets his nerve! Alex declares that this project is unethical and he will not support it and neither will the board. She continues to argue that she can not only help the kids but find out where they are getting their drugs from. He refuses to support her project and she tells him fine she will get the funding elsewhere.

Marlena goes to Don, furious at Alex’s reaction and complains to Don. Don discourages her from doing this as it is very dangerous. She has to do something to help Roman. She suggests that she can ask Stefano for financial support. He loudly orders her to stay away from Stefano, and stick to asking her friends. He asks her to talk to Roman before proceeding with this idea. Don knows regardless of what he or Roman says that she is going to do whatever she wants.

Marlena arrives at Maggie’s for her shower. Julie is already there. Marlena is touched when she sees all the gifts from her family from all over. They ask her how Roman is doing? She starts to tell them how hard Kayla’s poisoning was and then Casey’s murder, and she breaks down and starts crying. They quickly have her laughing through her tears as her friends support her. Things are lighter by the time Marie arrives. Julie tells them about Foxy Humdinger and being mistaken for a hooker. Julie has them rolling in laughter as she tells them about giving Foxy her fur coat to keep her away from her darling Doug. Liz stops by with a gift from Renee and Marlena talks her into staying. Next she opens the gifts. Marie’s present is a black negligee. Things are awkward as Marie talks about dating Neil while Liz stares at her. Awkward moment. Liz makes her excuses to leave though Marlena encourages that she is welcome to stay.

:6 mins Brief clip of Stefano staring at a picture of Roman and one of Abe. He asks himself which one will have to be next. Roman is calling for help from his secret room. He argues that an entire city is at risk. He fills them in about the good cop who was killed right outside the station. He declares it is Stefano at work but they have no proof as he always has his goons do his dirty work for him. A happy and glowing Marlena calls and tells Roman that her shower is over and asks if he can meet her at Shenanigan’s? She wants to tell He seductively asks her if she got any of those flimsy little sexy things at her shower? She laughs she has lots! Roman tells Abe that she sounded real happy.

Abe offers to give him Stefano DiMera behind bars as a wedding gift. Just as Roman is leaving, Doug calls to tell him that Gretchen collapsed. He is worried that she is poisoned and he reports there has been a threat against Alice. Roman tells Abe that someone tried to poison Alice and got Gretchen instead. After seeing Gretchen, Abe tells him that Gretchen said the guy’s name was “H2o”. They hope she lives so they can question her, they weren’t able to get much information out of her. Alice encourages Roman with her support. She knows he is investigating something dangerous and tells him she doesn’t want him backing off because of her. He tells her he would never forgive himself if something was to happen to her. She doesn’t want him to be frightened by this attempt. She knows he is in a war with evil corrupt people and does not want him scared out of the fight. She warns him to do his job and get those monsters. Stefano approaches to ask if Alice is alright. He declares it is unbelievable that something like this would happen and quickly walks away as Roman won’t even look at him. Doug approaches and asks if Marlena knows yet? He says no, he is going to go pick her up as he knows she will want to be with Gretchen.

Eugene and Marlena are talking at Shenanigan’s. She tells him how glad she is that he is her friend. She mentions something about “Gone with the Wind” and of course he has another fantasy of her ala Melanie and Ashley, as they kiss as he leaves for war. He tells himself that he has to stop having these silly fantasies about her. He tells her that he needs to have a real flesh and blood romance. Marlena starts to worry when Roman is late. Roman soon arrives and tells Marlena the shocking news that they think Gretchen has been poisoned. He tells her that there was a threat made on Alice’s life and they think Gretchen overheard a conversation and they hit her instead of Alice. Roman shocks her when he says they don’t know if she will live.

:4 minutes Roman and Abe are with Gretchen. She gasps as she comes too briefly and calls out, “Kayla, Alice, water, Mr. H2o” and then she is gone. A somber Roman and Abe come out and Roman tells Marlena, Eugene, and Alex that she has died. Alex seems to breathe a sigh of relief when Abe states that she was just too weak to tell them anything. Roman privately tells Abe, chalk up another one for the enemy. He knows that this isn’t over by a long shot.

Back at home, Roman has another nightmare. He is walking on the foggy pier and can’t find Marlena. He calls out, “Doc?” Over and over as he searches for her. Roman wakes up with a start. He admits to her that he had a nightmare and he couldn’t find her, but he felt that she was in some kind of danger. He worries that he isn’t going to be able to protect her from this danger. He knows all of these attacks are because of him and everyone he cares about is walking around with a big target on their backs. Marlena wants him to take the day off and relax. He is so wound up and tells her he can’t stop, he has to find this killer. He believes Gretchen overheard something and was killed because of it. He can’t take it easy, they are at war!

:30 seconds Roman calls and wakes Abe up and tells him they have work to do and asks him to meet him at the apartment.

Roman and Marlena have breakfast together. They talk about the wedding. He groans when she asks him to go to the tuxedo shop to get fitted for his tux. The shop is right across the street from the church. She asks him if he has made arrangements for their honeymoon. He teases her by pretending he has forgotten. He has found the perfect place, an old country inn just a couple of hours away. They have skiing in case they get bored. She laughs they will not be bored, they are going to be very busy. Tom calls to report to Roman that Alice insisted on going into work today. He also offered Roman the maintenance job to have him stay close to the hospital.

:12 mins Roman calls his contact from the secret room. They already know about the threat to Alice and attack on Gretchen. Roman is furious that the ISA is pulling out of Salem. He yells that they are doing a “Hit & Run” job on Salem. The agent requests to speak with Abe and they tell him he is officially in charge of the ISA operation in Salem. Since he has no known connection with the ISA, he will be able to move about more freely. They want Roman to distance himself and seem to have no contact and no involvement and they think that will reduce the threat to him and those around him.

Roman calls Don to tell him there is a new plan on action and they make plans to come see Don to fill him in. Julie stops by and they ask her about the portrait artist she is looking for. She tells them Tony wants to commission a portrait of Renee. They ask if they can give her the name of an artist to use. She catches on and just asks that her reputation as an art critic is on the line and to please not send the station’s sketch artist!

Chris is waiting in Don’s office and he wants in on whatever they are planning. He knows that Doug & Julie have been involved. Roman reminds him that he doesn’t have any police training. He points out that neither do Doug & Julie. Roman shares that they aren’t involved in anything dangerous. Chris convinces them to let him help as he will anyway. They finally agree but warn him he has to follow instructions and if he starts taking any heat they will shut him down. Abe threatens he will lock him up if he has to.

After Chris leaves, they fill Don in that they have an artist with European training to go undercover in the DiMera house. Roman continues that he has been taken off this case by the ISA. His job is to make Stefano believe he is out of this permanently. Roman plans on putting on an act for the goon Stefano has watching him and make him believe that he is really upset and out of control. They think this will work with Stefano as he is under so much pressure. The plan starts in an hour down on the riverfront and by the time he is done, Stefano will believe he is out.

Roman meets a guy down on the docks and puts on a show that he is quitting and he is done with their lousy organization. He is through! Roman calls Don and reports the plan went off and Stefano’s man was watching. They have to just pray that Stefano buys the act.

Roman starts his new job at the hospital. Abe tells him that the artist is all set and starts today. He continues that the ISA has ordered for them not to be too friendly. Roman says that is going to be kinda hard when Abe is his best man in two weeks. When Stefano enters the hallway, Abe and Roman break apart and stage a fight. Abe tells Roman that all the police officers have been ordered to keep their distance from Roman.

Roman and Marlena go into her office, and she wants to know what is going on between him and Abe? He tells her the fight was staged so the bad guys will believe they are no longer working together. She also points out that he will be showing up as his best man. He tells her he hopes this will all be wrapped up by then. She hopes this means he is close to closing the case! He agrees that they are working on something and are hoping to close the case soon.

Just as they are getting cozy, Marie stops in needing Marlena’s advice. Out in the hallway, Marie snarks at Liz and they wind up sniping at each other. Liz walks away into the lounge. Marlena tells Marie she is being unfair. She orders Marie into the hospital lounge. She confronts both of the ladies on how they are treating each other.

Roman and Marlena run into Abe at Shenanigan’s. Abe apologizes to her for their earlier act. Roman raises his voice to say something snarky to Abe as a cover as he walks away.

:1 min Roman makes an excuse to approach Danny at the bar and talk quietly to Abe, as they watch Stefano sitting with Astrid (the undercover agent) and Doug and Julie.

Back at the penthouse, everyone is in a happy joyous mood as Kayla’s bridesmaid’s dress has arrived. Roman jokes as he holds it up to see how it looks on him. Eugene arrives and Roman is glad to see him on the monitor and tells him to come up as he wants to have a little talk. Eugene nervously asks if he is in trouble? Roman says that he is. As Eugene is coming up, Marlena admonishes Roman for teasing the sensitive Eugene. Marlena calls Kayla to tell her that her wedding dress has arrived. Then Doug calls and tells her he is coming by to discuss music for the wedding.

When he arrives, Roman very seriously tells Eugene that he needs his help for a very serious mission. Marlena laughs and tells him to stop teasing him. Roman asks him to be one of his wedding ushers.

4 1/2 mins: Eugene thanks Roman for asking him to be in his wedding. A glum Chris arrives and questions why Roman is in such a great mood and acting like it is Christmas morning. Shouldn’t he be more worried about what is going on in Salem? Chris admits to being worried about this situation and not knowing when these killers will strike again.

Roman says that he and Marlena are getting married on February 4th and that pretty lady deserves to have the happiest most beautiful wedding possible. She is the one keeping his spirits sky high. He wants Christ to help him make that day very special for her. Roman knows that Chris and Kayla have gotten close and she is in the wedding. He asks if Chris will also be his usher? Chris agrees. Chris tells him he has been checking into this situation and believes he knows who is behind these attacks. He knows the person is very rich and very powerful.

He was been feeding information into a computer program about people in Salem who fit that profile and one name kept popping up in all of the categories, Stefano DiMera. Roman is completely silent which tells Chris he hit the target. Chris determines that he is going to use his business connection to become a damn good friend to Stefano. Roman tells him that IF it turns out to be Stefano, why does Chris think he can run around playing detective without getting hurt? Chris promises to take it one step at a time but vows to take down whoever is responsible for hurting Kayla.

After Chris leaves, Marlena tells Roman and Eugene that she has already picked out their tuxes. Next Doug arrives with a stack of sheet music. Marlena is overwhelmed by all of the choices and asks Doug to pick the songs. Roman suggests that she pick one and Doug pick one. When Roman has to leave, he sweetly kisses her goodbye. She stares after him worriedly as he leaves.

Doug leaves Marlena and Eugene alone. Eugene observes that she is worrying about Roman. She tells him that one of his positive visions would really help her right now. He tells her he has got nothing there. Roman calls to tell her that he missed her and that he is waiting for an important phone call. She worriedly asks if everything is okay. He reassures her and asks her to have the caller contact him at his apartment. After she hangs up, she breaks down in tears. She tells Eugene how much she loves Roman as she cries. She walks into the kitchen and Eugene gets an impression of the wedding day as Marlena crying, “Where is Roman?”

:1 min Astrid calls Roman to report in as Stefano listens in as she promises to win Stefano’s heart. She reports that she doesn’t think Stefano suspects anything. She thinks there is enough evidence at the mansion to hang him but good.

Marlena arrives at Roman’s apartment, and he embraces her with kisses, happy and surprised to see her. They comment that they are getting married in a week! Astrid calls Roman back and tells him that she found Stefano’s phone bill with a phone number in Mexico City. Stefano is standing outside the door, shaking his head in displeasure. After Roman gets off the phone, a concerned Marlena asks him if his parents like her? He laughs that of course they do. She is going to take some time off of work to get ready for the wedding. Marlena asks him if the phone call was good news as he sounds hopeful? Has he made a break through? He says maybe, but that is a little ways off and they head out to have lunch together. They run into Renee and Tony. Renee tells Marlena privately that she needs to talk to her, that it is awful living at the DiMera’s. Marlena tells her of course and asks her to call her office to schedule an appointment.

Dvd #4C While Roman talks to Abe, Eugene is sitting with Marlena and gets another premonition about him missing on their wedding day. He almost tells Roman then changes his mind. Marlena tells Maggie that her cousin Trista is moving to Salem. She is going shopping for her trousseau today.

Later, Roman and Marlena are snuggling and kissing. She is going to the lingerie department to pick up a little something. He takes her in his arms and tells her that once he gets that wedding dress off of her that she isn’t going to need to wear anything! He suggests that they skip the reception and get a head start on their honeymoon. He is kissing her goodbye, and Eugene arrives interrupting. After Marlena leaves, he tells Roman about the impression he has had. He knows Roman doesn’t take them seriously but this one is important.

Eugene tells him that he is in danger and he has to be careful. Marlena comes back in to get her gloves, and she notices the tension between them and asks what is wrong? They are both quiet and don’t answer her. She says she is going to stay there until they tell her what is going on? Eugene makes excuses and tells her it was just an idea he had and babbles and he suddenly leaves. Roman tells her it is nothing, that nothing and nobody will keep him from her on their wedding day.

Marie and Marlena return to the penthouse after shopping, and find a mannequin made up to look like Marlena with a blond wig and a matching green dress (just like the one she is wearing that day). The mannequin has a knife sticking out of her chest and she is covered in blood. Marlena begins screaming her head off and Marie is able to calm her down by telling her it isn’t real and it is just a horrible prank. Marie calls this in to the police department and asks them to get word to Abe and send an officer immediately to Marlena’s penthouse. Marie calls looking for Roman but can’t reach him, so she calls Neil and asks him to come over. Marlena can’t seem to stop herself from looking at the mannequin. She cries that she needs Roman here now. Abe and two officers arrive. Marlena shakily asks if he can find Roman. Abe tries to reassure Marlena that it is all over now. She doesn’t believe it and thinks it is just beginning.

Don and Eugene are shocked when they arrive. Don demands to know how someone got past the police guard. He wants to know where the guard is? Don comforts Marlena and she wants to know where Roman is? Neil arrives and Marie rushes into his arms.

:2 1/2 mins. Meanwhile, Astrid calls Roman on a pay phone and reports she has a heavy dinner date with Stefano tonight. She tells him she hasn’t gotten much out of Stefano today. She is worried that he suspects her and isn’t trusting her. He went out of his way to tell her that the woods around his house make him think of death. She suddenly tells him that she doesn’t like the looks of this. She hangs up but soon calls him back and tells her there was a noisy guy but everything is fine now. Roman asks if she is sure that she wants to go ahead with this? She says yes that she is close now and she knew it was dangerous when she volunteered for this assignment.

Roman arrives home and Marlena silently and tearfully walks into his arms. Marlena fills Roman in on what she found when she returned home. Roman is furious and swears that he is going to kill him! Marlena stops him and tells him that she is NOT going to fall apart. She knows someone is trying to scare her and she is going to stay calm and plan her wedding! Her friends suggest they should leave but she won’t hear of it. She insists that she wants a quiet dinner at home with her friends, Neil, Marie, and Eugene and they are going to have a lovely time. She is going to put on one of her new outfits. Roman tells her not tonight but she insists. Alex calls and tells her that several of the board members were hurt that they didn’t get invited to her wedding. She says that was an oversight and she will have invitations messengered. (Note Stefano is one of said board members).

Marlena goes to change while Neil, Eugene, and Marie talk with Roman. Marie assures them that nothing is going to stop Marlena. Roman fumes that someone tried to stop her and they got through him to do it! Marlena returns and her friends offer once again to leave. Marlena is calmer and carries on by ensuring everyone has their cocktails, and she toasts to the most beautiful wedding in the world. Abe calls Roman and reports there was no evidence found on the dummy. He wants to know how they knew what Marlena was wearing. Roman figures one of Stefano’s men was watching her. After this bit of news, Eugene says again that it is time for them all to go as it is time for them to have some time alone and they all have things to do.

Roman sits with Marlena holding her hand. He wishes he would have been there for her earlier. She wonders who could have done a thing like that, dressing that thing in her clothes. He tells her that he doesn’t think the warning was meant for Marlena. Instead, he thinks it was for him to throw him off his guard and distract him and it worked. Whoever is after him wants to upset his concentration so Roman will make mistakes. He tells her he will not be sleeping much, he will be checking out everything around here. He wants her and Carrie to have extra guards, some will be women and some men, but all will be trained to take care of her. She realizes that they are coming towards the end. He warns her that all hell is about to break loose and predicts it will be soon. He holds her in his arms and tells her she will be the most beautiful of brides. She returns the compliment about him in his tux. He laughs that he is really not a tux type of guy. A very serious Abe calls and urgently asks Roman to come down to the PD right away. As he leaves he tells Marlena about all the guards.

When Roman arrives at the PD, Abe shows him a picture of a guy who they believe works for Stefano. Roman promises to get this guy first and then Stefano. He declares that after what they did to Marlena that is their biggest and their last mistake!

Doug stops by Roman and Marlena’s table in the hospital coffee shop. He tells Marlena how sorry he is over. Roman notices a guy hiding behind a newspaper and staring at them. Roman notices and grabs the guy and demands for him to provide ID and who he is and what he is doing. He is an undercover cop that Abe sent to keep an eye on Marlena. Roman has now blown his cover and Abe is not going to be happy about this! Roman promises to explain the situation to Abe. After the excitement, Doug shows her a list of wedding songs that Marlena loves. She shows it to a distracted Roman and tries to get him to focus on the task at hand, picking their wedding songs. Marlena suggests a song during the wedding procession and then another song after they get to the altar and everyone is seated. She wants Roman’s input as she wants their wedding to be perfect. Marlena picks out one song and Doug sings a bit to remind Roman and he agrees that if Marlena thinks that is the song she wants, then he agrees.

Roman is on the phone at the hospital checking in with Abe. He says that if this guy whose picture Roman is staring at is doing a job for Stefano then they need to find out what it is. Marlena runs into Roman and is saddened to see Roman working at the hospital though he makes light of it. Neil approaches and agrees with Marlena after Roman has walked away, that Roman should be back at the PD soon. Marlena then talks to Tony and Renee briefly, and then meets Renee in the hospital coffee shop. Marlena asks her again if she would be her bridesmaid if she can make it. Renee says she wouldn’t be able to do it, as she can’t stand for long periods of time.

Marlena has the wedding invitations for the board members. She gives the invite for Stefano to Alex and asks him to pass it on. Roman walks up and overhears her giving an invitation to Stefano. They sit together at the hospital cafeteria. He brings up the board member being invited, he would have preferred to have it be smaller and just close friends and family. She asks if he is upset that she invited the board? She didn’t want to but sort of became hospital policy. She figures he doesn’t want Alex there but she couldn’t very well not invite the hospital administrator even though she isn’t a big fan of Alex’s either. Marlena worries that Roman isn’t back on the police force by their wedding as he hoped for. Roman promises her that in two days she will become his wife come hell or high water.

Next they are at Shenanigan’s, and Stefano stops by to talk to Roman about his future. He tells Roman that he understands the troubles he has been through recently and doesn’t think he deserves it. He knows about his current job as a maintenance man and offers to sit down with him after the wedding to discuss a good paying job with him. Roman declares he couldn’t take a job with Stefano as he would just be quitting soon. He reports that Don is his attorney and working on getting his job back. Alex questions Stefano on his buddy buddy attitude towards Roman. Stefano says that this is “just in case” that he publicly is nice to him. Stefano laments, “Poor Marlena, she will be a widow before she is a bride”!

Roman calls Don and tells him that he thinks the psychological profile their guys came up on Stefano is right on target. He says that the pressure must be getting to Stefano as he is not acting like his normal public persona, he is acting like he is lord and master of the world. Roman tells Don he is supposed to meet Abe at Shenanigan’s for a little bachelor party but since Stefano is there, he doesn’t want to be seen with Abe so they will both come over to Don’s place.

When Roman rejoins Marlena and she spots Abe who has just come in, he reminds her to not be seen as being too friendly with Abe. Roman goes to the bar and quietly tells Abe to meet him at Don’s. Eugene talks to Abe outside and tells him that he has an impression that Roman is in danger! Abe reassures him that a lot of people are looking out for both Roman and Marlena.

:6 minutes. Roman’s Bachelor Party (about 6 minutes added) Abe and Roman arrive separately at Don’s place. Abe reports parking in the back so his car wouldn’t be spotted there. They tell Don that they are under ISA orders to not appear friendly with each other. Roman laments that has been pretty tough since Abe is going to be his best man. Roman tells them about running into Stefano at Shenanigan’s. He was all smiles and compliments and even offered Roman a job! He didn’t take it of course. They are concerned that Stefano is about to make another move and hope he isn’t coming after Roman. Chris shows up next though he wasn’t invited, though it will look more like a real bachelor party with the four of them. Abe is still resistant about filling him in on too much. Eugene shows up next and says he wasn’t invited so may he shouldn’t come in but of course they insist. He wants an orange soda. Don talks him into having a beer since it is a bachelor party after all.

:4 mins Stefano has a tv and vcr set up and the hit man arrives to meet with him and Alex. Stefano shows him a tape of Roman from earlier that day at Shenanigan’s so he will recognise him. He watches Roman and does not think he is carrying a weapon. Stefano asks if he can complete this job? He assures Stefano that he has never failed and Roman Brady will be dead! Later, Alex and Stefano discuss the backup plan that in case the first hitman fails, there will be a sniper in the church balcony. Stefano plays the song that Doug is to sing and informs Alex that Roman will be shot as Doug hits the high note.

Meanwhile Kayla and Maggie are trying on their bridesmaids dresses and being fitted at Marlena’s. Marie soon arrives as Marlena is happily emersed in her wedding plans. Marie declares that she is positively glowing. She admits to falling for Roman that first morning after he slept on her floor. Marie teases her about all the sleepless nights she had while Roman was sleeping on the floor. Marlena teases Marie back by telling her to take off her clothes! They are all joyous and celebrating. Maggie asks if Roman’s parents love her. Marlena asks Kayla how her parent’s feel about her being in the family. Kayla reports that they love Kayla but are mostly thrilled that Roman is getting married and she is going to make an honest man out of him. Marlena declares that Roman is not an ordinary man, he reads poetry to her surprising her friends. She tells them about their special poem, “The True Season of Love”.

As the ladies are in various stages of undress, the guys arrive laughing as the girls giggle and grab pillows to hide behind. A joyful evening full of laughter and fun. Their friends leave, and Roman laughs as she says she knows it was his idea to bring the guys over. Roman tells her that he had an impromptu bachelor party. She declares that it will be a beautiful wedding tomorrow, and he agrees that it will be the best. He asks if he still has to sleep on the sofa tonight since they are getting married tomorrow? She tells him that yes he does! He declares he can not wait until this wedding is over!

In the morning, they hug and kiss before he leaves. He tells her he is going to the tuxedo shop but is interrupted when Abe calls with news so Roman goes to headquarters first. As he leaves, Marlena hugs him and insists that nothing is going to stop this wedding. After Roman leaves, Marlena calls to check in with Doug. He tells her everything is ready and the cake has arrived. She is going to come over to check everything out. Doug begins rehearsing the song that Stefano’s plan is set around, as Stefano is listening to the same song.

Alex and Stefano meet and Alex observes if the back up plan goes wrong, they have Ridgecrest to retreat to. Then they talk to the hitman, and Alex keeps bringing up if the plan fails (something tells me Roman makes him a bit nervous).

Roman arrives at the PD and he and Abe check out the window to see if he was followed. Abe shows him the picture of the guy that their source “Bluejay” gave them, they are working on tracking down the hired guy. Abe warns him that while they have no evidence against the guy, he left quite a trail in cities throughout Europe last year. These trips coincided with assassinations in these cities. Carrie and Marlena soon arrive, and Marlena notices the picture and asks about it. He tells her the guy hasn’t done anything, yet. Marlena asks worriedly why the police are looking for him if he hasn’t done anything? Roman changes the subject and tells her he still has to go try on his tux. He asks who is driving her to the church and she informs him that she is driving herself! As soon as she leaves, he calls Doug and asks if he and Julie can pick her up and take her to the church.

The hitman has been working undercover at the tux shop for weeks. While he is with Alex and Stefano, he calls Roman and asks him to come in for another fitting and pretends the measurements were wrong.

Marlena stops by to see Doug and Julie and gets misty eyed at how beautiful Blondie’s looks for her wedding reception. Back at her place, Marlena tells Doug and Julie how much they touch her. She knows how busy they are hosting the reception and getting everything ready and making time to be with her. She realises that Roman asked them to take her to the church as he is worried she is in danger.

2/4/83 Roman & Marlena Wedding Day - pre-wedding, tux shop

Marlena is getting her clothes out and Doug teases her that she will need two cars! Abe arrives and tells Doug that he was having Roman tailed for his own protection, but Roman shook the tail. Abe says he is really worried, that his gut tells him that he is in danger. Marlena comes in and demands to know what Abe is worried about? Abe makes excuses and says he is just there to get Marlena safely to the church. Next, Eugene arrives and the Don arrives. Marlena worries that they are all worried about her safety and her worry for Roman increases. She declares that something is very wrong and she wants them to find Roman now! Don tries to reassure her and tells her that she is being irrational. Marlena says but no one knows where Roman is! He laughs as he tells her how distracted he was on their wedding day, he lost his tie, could’t find the wedding ring (which Mickey had). He assures her that Roman is just as distracted and he is probably just doing last minute errands. She tells him what an incredible man he is.

Stefano is toasting to Roman and Marlena’s wedding with Tony & Liz and Alex, and says he hopes the bride and groom will live happily ever after. Tony comments on how odd that is since the couple isn’t even there. Stefano declares this wedding is very important to him, and Liz helps out making excuses for him. Later as Alex continues to be nervous about their plans failing, Stefano shows Alex the escape route through the tunnel that goes to Doug’s Place. He tells him this is their escape route and will get them to Ridgecrest. Stefano is excited about the tunnels, but Alex continues to worry about Roman Brady as he has seen him in action!

Slightly Better Quality for Tux shop scenes - Abe calls the tux shop looking for Roman and the tailor lies and tells him that Roman has already come and gone. As he hangs up, Roman walks in just afterwards. The tailor comments on him being early and tells him his tux isn’t ready yet. He then disconnects the phone and pretends it is out of service. Roman recognizes the guy at the tux shop as being Stefano’s man. He realizes he isn’t armed, has no backup and the phone isn’t working. Roman tells himself that he will not take off as he will triumph over their plot. The guy serves Roman a drugged Brandy and hedumps it when the hit man’s back is turned. He says to himself, “what kind of a fool do you think I am?” Roman then pretends to be tired, and begins yawning and looking bored. The goon starts rushing people to make their decision and get out of the shop. Roman thinks to himself that he has to wait till the guy makes a move so he can arrest him. He declares now that he has a direct link to Stefano and he isn’t going anywhere, though he does have a wedding to get too!

Marlena, Julie, and Doug arrive to the bride’s dressing room at the church. Eugene soon arrives, and he and Doug talk about Roman still not being at the church. Eugene and Doug talk outside the bride’s room, Eugene is very nervous and his hands are shaking. Eugene calls Abe and tells him that Roman isn’t at the church. Abe declares if Roman doesn’t show up in the next 30 minutes that he is going to get every officer on the force out looking for him. Abe calls and demands an ABP out on Roman. When he faces resistance, he threatens to quit the force. He tells Eugene that he will strangle Roman when he finally shows up.

Meanwhile, Alex and Stefano talk about Roman possibly being dead. Stefano says that they will go by the tailor shop and if the lights are out that means Roman is disposed of, but if the lights are still on there is a problem.

Back at tux shop, the last customer finally departs as Roman is trying on his tux. The assassin locks the door, turns out the lights, and puts up the closed sign. He pulls out a gun (Roman isn’t carrying one as he wanted to appear vulnerable), and he approaches the dressing room where Roman is trying on his jacket.

Maggie, Julie, Don, and Doug all join Marlena in the bride’s room. Eventually Don and Doug leave to give the ladies privacy to get dressed.

2/7 Tux shop continues, Roman & Marlena's wedding begins

Doug & Julie enjoy how beautifully decorated the church is. Alice arrives and wants to know if they have seen Roman? Alice tells the ladies about Tom being late to their own wedding and how mad she was. Marlena tells them that when Roman does show up, that they better keep him away from her until she calms down!

Abe tells Don, Maggie, and Eugene that Roman is nowhere to be found. Eugene tells them that he has been warning them how much danger that Roman has been in. Tom is in the dressing room giving Marlena a prep talk, she tells Alice what wonderful taste she has in men. After Tom leaves the room, Abe and Don come in and tell her that Roman is nowhere to be found. Abe tells them that Roman was going there at 4:00. Carrie tells them that the appointment for the monkey suit was changed and her daddy went there after he took her to the Horton’s. Abe realizes the tux guy lied to him and calls for police backup as an emergency. Abe and Don rushes out and heads over to the tux shop. The tux goon tries to lure Roman out of the dressing room, as Roman repeatedly stalls. Finally, the curtains open and the goon fires repeatedly though Roman is hiding behind a mannequin and he pushes out from that and begins fighting with the goon. The cops arrive and find the evidence of the fight and the goon’s body.

Poor quality limo scenes: Alex and Stefano head over to go by the tux shop. Alex comments that it is 6:30 so that hopefully Roman is taking care of, though they feel bad for Marlena on her wedding day. Alex says that it is all over now, and the goon will be heading out of the country within the hour. Alex continues to worry as Roman is very smart and would be able to trace the goon back to Stefano. As they approach the tux shop, Alex warns him that if anything went wrong that the place will be crawling with cops. When they arrive, they find the shop quiet and dark. Stefano says that it is over at last as Roman will be found in the morning.

In the bride’s room, Kayla, Marie and Maggie are ready in their bridesmaid’s dresses. Doug comes in and wants to know why Marlena isn’t dressed? She says that she isn’t sure that there will be a wedding, as Roman still hasn’t arrived. Doug insists they start playing the music for a few minutes and the Doug will begin singing. Marlena questions but what if Roman still isn’t there? Doug says he will just sing a few more choruses. Doug reminds her how very much Roman loves Marlena. She agrees to get ready. Marlena is finally ready and tells her ladies that Roman better have a damn good reason for being so late!

The wedding begins with Doug singing, as Marlena is waiting in the foyer. Neil approaches the pastor and tells him they may have to announce a delay. At that moment, the wedding music begins and Marlena hopefully peeks in through the chapel doors to see the groomsmen enter, followed by Roman with a black eye and wearing a sling. The wedding march begins and Marlena finally arrives in front of Roman as Doug sings. An assassin points his gun and we see a bullseye appear over Roman as the scene ends.

2/8 Roman & Marlena’s wedding continues. Doug is singing to them as they are at the altar ready to exchange their vows. A bullseye is over Roman’s face and we see a gunman in the loft of the church taking aim. Eugene enters the loft and cries out just in time “GUN!” As the assassin runs downstairs, Chris slugs him and takes him out. They are impressed that Eugene jumped the killer, saving Roman’s life. Chris wants to go after Stefano, but Roman stops him. He promises Chris that they are going to put Stefano behind bars for the rest of his life! They have his hit man and now they have to get him to talk. Roman thanks Chris for helping to save his life.

Alex reports back to Stefano that their assassin has been taken out and they called an ambulance. Alex assures him that he can’t identify them. Marlena runs out of the chapel to find Roman in the foyer and runs into his arms. He tells her they have some unfinished business, they still have to get married! When Marlena hears of Eugene’s heroics, she gives him a big hug and they both thank him profusely. Marlena asks how Eugene knew? He had an impression and knew something was wrong. Gene is surprised that they are still planning on getting married after all of this. Marlena says that they aren’t going to disappoint a church full of people? Caroline and Shawn come in, so relieved to see that Roman is okay.

Roman asks Abe how he knew to arrive at the tux shop? Abe fills him in on Carrie’s info. Roman has an idea about how to get the assassin to talk. He tells Abe to just let him stew a bit in jail. Alex tells Stefano that their man is under heavy guard at the hospital and they can’t get anywhere near him. Marlena is furious and reams Roman, she demands answers. She tells him that she has been worried sick. She wants to know where he was and why he was late. He promises to tell her everything later, he doesn’t want to upset her before the wedding. She wants to know what happened! He wants to know who the boss in this family is? It is HIM, he declares. She says oh no that they are both the boss. Then he tells her she is acting like a fish wife. She threatens there might not be a wedding and starts crying. He tells her that he didn’t mean that she was a fish wife, but she was sounding like one. He holds her face in his hands and tells her that he loves her and wants to marry her. He promises he will tell her everything later. All he will tell her is that he had a fight with the tailor at the tux shop. She is shocked and wants to know why? He gives up and tells her that he was a paid hit man, hired to kill Roman. He reassures her and they decide to proceed. Marlena calls Abe in and tells him that Roman needs him, he is the best man after all.

Alex approaches Stefano and warns him that they are on very thin ice, and Stefano says as he looks around that he is surrounded by enemies. Roman and Abe fill Don in on their plan to get the shooter to spill. Roman knows that any of Stefano’s man will be prepared to go to jail for life and keep silent as it would be a death sentence if he was to talk. Roman promises that by the time he gets through with the guy that he will confess without realizing he is. Roman warns Don that he isn’t going to like his part in it, and Marlena is going to hate it.

Doug comes into the bride’s room and tells Marlena how lovely she looks. He also lets her know that he picked a different song to sing this time before the wedding starts and hope she doesn’t mind. She loves the idea. Tom comes in to walk Marlena down the aisle. Everyone takes their places once again, and the wedding begins again! Kayla, Marie, and Maggie walk down the aisle, followed by Carrie the flower girl, and then the episode begins as Marlena begins her walk.

2/9 Roman & Marlena’s Wedding & Reception!

Tom walks Marlena down the aisle, and Tom steps up to say a few words in light of what happened earlier. He talks about good triumphing over evil, and if they can make it through this, they can make it through anything. As they look into each other’s eyes, Marlena cries. Doug sings “Up Where We Belong” and we are treated to a series of Roman and Marlena flashbacks. They say their vows to each other and are finally married! As they walk through the church, they are congratulated by their friends and family. They stand in the foyer as everyone celebrates and congratulates them. Roman grits his teeth when Stefano pays his respects. Alex gives Stefano an update about their goon. Stefano wants the couple under constant surveillance as they head off to their honeymoon. Alex says it is done. Stefano says they should get over to the reception, as it maybe the last time the happy couple is seen together.

Marlena and Roman arrive at their reception to the cheers of their guests. Abe makes a nice toast, and the couple share their first dance. Stefano cuts in as Marlena is dancing with Chris. Roman asks Abe if everything is all set to get the goon to talk. It is and both Abe and Don are starting to think this just might work. Chris interrupts to tell Roman that Stefano is dancing with his wife. Roman interrupts and gets his wife back in his arms just in time to cut the cake. Marie catches the bouquet and Alex captures the garter, and they look at each awkwardly. Roman suggests that Marlena change into her travel clothes and they take off. He tells her that he loves her and Carrie and he is going to try to make this world better for them. Marlena grabs her girls and they head upstairs. They sneak out the back and are finally alone as they drive off. She proceeds to start trying to seduce him while he is driving, that is until Don pops up from the back seat. Marlena wants to know what is going on? Roman tells her this is important. She knows it is but says this is just too weird being with the two of them!

2/10 Don impersonates Roman and takes her on her honeymoon pretending to be Roman. Alex and Anna enter Shenanigan’s. She doesn’t like that Stefano is trying to kill Roman, and she is worried about her part in all of this coming to light. If Stefano gets caught, she doesn’t want to go down with them. When she threatens to go to the police, he tells her that she is too young to die! He tells her to keep searching to find something to incriminate Stefano that they can take to the police. Alex reports into Stefano that their guy hasn’t even been questioned. This makes Stefano suspicious as they should be all over him. Stefano insists that Alex come over to the mansion. He makes an excuse that he is at Shenanigan’s with Tony sits down with Anna and asks her if Roman’s wedding was difficult for her? She insists she is over him. Alex returns and tells Anna that he has to go to Stefano’s.

Don(impersonating Roman) and Marlena arrive at their honeymoon destination, Don carries her in (while wearing a fishing hat as a disguise). Don assures her that he is there to protect her. She wants him to take Roman’s hat off as she looks just like him. She is disappointed to learn that Don is spending the weekend with her while Roman investigates who is trying to kill him. They engage in friendly bickering about her first honeymoon with Don. They have dinner and champagne together. She wants to know how are they going to spend the next few days together. He says that they will act like newlyweds and spend all of their time in their room, as they can’t risk someone seeing that he isn’t Roman. He teases her about sleeping in the same bed, and she has a fit as he flirts with her. She turns the tables by asking him about attending the wedding with Maggie. This reminds him to call her to say goodnight. Marlena is struck by his feelings for Maggie, that he really misses her.
