Roman & Marlena #5 February 11 - August 12, 1983: 12 hour edit
DVD #5A :4 mins Alex arrives and reports to Stefano that no one has been near their man who was arrested (they of course don’t know Roman is not on his honeymoon and is actually in the adjacent cell!). Stefano tells Alex that he is disgusted with Anna, that she is nothing but conniving. He then complains that nothing seems to be going right lately. Stefano says that Ridgecrest is his back up escape plan one he did not want to have to use unless there was no other choice. Stefano blames Alex for the failure of his plans.
Alex calls the inn where Roman & Marlena are staying, and he is assured the couple has arrived, and comments on how in love they are. Alex says maybe they could have at least their wedding night together. Stefano wants them watched 24/7. Stefano determines that anyone with Roman will share his same fate!
Abe tells Doug that the honeymooners have arrived at their destination. He warns that he is sure the place is crawling with Stefano’s men.
Don and Marlena are hiding out for what is supposed to be Roman and Marlena’s honeymoon, as he impersonates Roman. Marlena is sleeping on the couch and Doug graciously gives her the bed. Don tells her that they are being watched and he says they have to act like a happily married couple and asks her for a hug. As Don holds her, she cries with the events of the day, fear and disappointment over not being with her new hubby that night.
She tries to sneak out, but a sleeping Don suddenly wakes up and stops her from leaving. He reminds her that they can’t give away that Roman isn’t with her in the room. She cries that she is worried about Roman and needs to know he is okay, and she misses her husband.
The inn keeper arrives with the champagne breakfast in bed that Roman had pre-ordered. Marlena wonders if the phones are working as they haven’t had any calls? She is informed they do not put calls through to the honeymoon suite. Marlena tells her that won’t do at all as she is a doctor and requests that her calls be put through. Marlena realizes that Roman has probably been trying to call.
Eugene calls and warns her that her and Roman are in danger, he has been having impressions all morning. He doesn’t know Roman isn’t with her, she excuses that he is in the shower and can’t come to the phone.
:13 mins. Meanwhile, Roman is laying on a bed in a cheap motel room waiting for Abe to arrive. He tenderly touches his wedding ring, seemingly lost in thought about his bride. Abe arrives at a cheap motel. Roman declares that Don better be behaving himself as Marlena spends her honeymoon with her first husband. Roman dons his disguise as Mr. Snow. His cover is he was a drug runner for Stefano and was busted by Roman. Roman puts on the fat suit and prisoner clothes. The make up artist arrives with a wig, and scars to further transform him into someone completely unrecognisable as Roman Brady.
Alex and Stefano talk at the hospital as Alex reports that Roman and Marlena are being securely guarded while on their honeymoon. Stefano wants the layout of the hotel and how many guards. Alex promises they will have that information any minute. Stefano is determined Roman should be taken care of before his honeymoon is over, he can go out a happy man! Stefano says that he will start preparing to go to Ridgecrest.
Alex reassures Stefano that no one has talked to “their friend”. He is being heavily guarded and has not talked to anyone, not even Abe. He has not been interrogated. Alex continues that Roman is still being heavily guarded by “both sides”. Stefano wants details about how heavily armed they are?
Roman arrives at his jail cell in full disguise, with an accent, as he tries to get information out of a nearby prisoner, one of Stefano’s men. He talks about working for Stefano and suggests that they will both be killed whether they talk or not, as Stefano doesn’t leave loose ends. When the prisoner is brought a cup of coffee, Roman warns him not to drink it (hinting that Stefano would have him poisoned).
Chris has an idea on how to get the proof he needs as he is on to something and wants to help “those guys out”. He heads out to talk to Doug. (We don’t see him again until he is shot in the tunnels).
An undercover cop delivers long stemmed red roses from Roman. Don brushes her away and says the delivery is for him and not to touch HIS flowers. He reaches in the box and pulls out a gun. He declares how beautiful the flowers are. Marlena is shocked that Roman sent a gun in her flowers.
Later, a server arrives bringing Don and Marlena a Napolean on their tray. Marlena questions it as she didn’t order it and the waiter says he didn’t even think the inn offered Napoleans. After he leaves, Don stops her from eating it. He calls down for another one and is told the inn doesn’t offer Napoleans. He tells her that they can’t eat anything from the inn, as someone put that on their tray without anyone from the inn being aware of it. They will have to order out as the goons can’t hijack every delivery truck and they can’t leave.
Abe calls and reassures Marlena that Roman is fine, and he is very anxious to see her. Abe tells Don that the hitman is wavering about talking, and Roman is going to stick with it and will stay in the cell over night. Abe jokes about Roman spending the night in all that make up. They order Chinese food, and Marlena’s fortune says that she will have a wonderful future. Marlena asks him about his relationship with Gwen. He tells her they broke up as she was more serious than he was. Marlena comments on how cozy he and Maggie were at the reception. He insists that they are just friends as she grins at him.
A storm begins and Marlena starts to fret that they are going to be snowed in. She worries about Roman being out in the storm. Don assures her that Roman is not outside and he is safe, but he can’t tell her more for her own safety. Don encourages that Roman is really close and they may get a break in the case tonight. Marlena realizes he is starting to see Roman as a friend, not a jerk. She continues to question him about Maggie and he gets irritated and keeps telling her to back off. He points out that she is the widow of his best friend.
Don finally calls Maggie, pretending to be in Chicago, but they have a horrible connection due to the storm. She does tell him that Liz is trying to reach him. He calls Liz who is trying to get evidence that Tony is involved with Renee and she thinks she is getting close! He warns her to be careful. Marlena worries about Liz in another bad marriage, she can’t imagine not loving the father of your child.
Marlena is getting annoyed and fusses at Don to stay off the phone in case Roman calls. Sonn the power goes out and they lose power and phone service due to the storm. Marlena cries about not being able to be with Roman and now she doesn’t even have hope of him calling her.
:6 mins Eugene comes into Abe’s office as he is having stronger and stronger impressions that Roman and Marlena are in danger. Roman is there in his Mr. Snow disguise but Gene doesn’t recognise him. Eugene says he called Marlena at the inn and told her his concerns and she promised to tell Roman who was in the shower. After Eugene leaves, Roman tells Abe that he hopes the guy has bought the story that Mr. Snow confessed and will be going out of state witness protection. Abe assures Roman that Marlena will forgive him. Roman can’t wait for his real honeymoon.
When Roman returns, he reports that there is sign that Stefano’s man is about ready to crack. Next we learn, the guy is with his lawyer and they are hopeful for good news. Soon Abe gets word that the guy turned on Stefano and the guy is giving up all of the info he has on Stefano’s operation and maybe just what they need to nail Stefano!
Roman immediately begins pulling off the make up and he can’t wait to get to his wife. He immediately runs to the phone, declaring, “Honeymoon here I come!” Of course he is unable to get through to her because the lines are out due to the storm. Roman starts worrying about whether Marlena is okay. He knows she is surrounded by gunmen who are after him and he is worried about her safety, especially considering Eugene’s vibes.
Marlena opens the door and looks out into the hallway. He grabs her and pulls her back in. She points out that the hallway is dark and they could sneak out. Don warns her how dangerous it is, that the lights could come back on and they would be sitting ducks. He warns her that they have to stay put while Roman is working undercover. She starts crying that she wants Roman. Don points out when Roman calls if they aren’t there, that Roman will panic.
When Don is in the shower, the inn keeper comes by to drop off a lantern. Marlena gives her the car keys and asks her to bring the car around the back in 5 minutes. When Don gets out of the shower, Marlena is gone! The lady tells him that she did not head towards Salem, but headed north instead. Don gives him the grim news that Marlena has taken the car and left. Roman gets on the phone and Don fills him in on Marlena taken off. Roman threatens Don if anything happens to Marlena, he will have his hide. Roman orders officers to start looking for Marlena as she is out there all alone and unprotected. He is worried about DiMera’s goons getting to her.
:8 mins Roman is getting ready to head out into the storm to find his wife. Abe is joyous over busting Stefano and declares this is the biggest bust this city has ever have and wants to celebrate. Roman knows he has to get to Marlena, and he warns Abe that if she doesn’t hear from him soon, he is afraid that she will do something crazy. Roman is on the phone giving orders even though he is about to get his badge back, Abe predicts by tonight. Roman and Don argue as Roman is heated. Abe stops Roman from leaving as everyone is out looking for Marlena.
Abe receives a disturbing report from the Sheriff that they have found Marlena’s car abandoned. They fear that she realised she was being followed and left the car to continue on foot. Trying to cover their tracks, Alex and Anna have brought in a recording of Stefano saying that his time in Salem is over, everything here has been destroyed. They act innocent and helpful that they had no idea what this all means. Anna declares she found it by accident in Tony’s office. She was terrified and didn’t know what to do as Tony was out, so she took it to Alex. Anna pretends that she had been spying on the DiMeras as she knew Roman and Marlena have been in danger, and she wanted to help.
After they leave, Roman wishes that Anna hadn’t gone to Alex of all people. Next call is they have a warrant for Stefano’s arrest. Abe and Roman immediately head out to execute the warrant at Stefano’s home. He isn’t there, and they fill in a shocked Tony, Renee in on Stefano’s suspected crimes including murder!
Stefano is in the tunnel holding Liz hostage at gun point as Chris listens in. Chris jumps out at Stefano and slugs him and tries to get Liz to safety. Stefano grabs his gun and shoots Chris as Liz screams in terror. Marlena enters Doug’s Place as she ran out of gas in the car she rented. As she is trying to call Roman, Stefano comes in holding Liz at gunpoint. He tells Marlena that Roman has gone too far and he is taking them both hostages. Marlena can’t believe it and declares he wouldn’t shoot her. He insists that he would and she can ask Liz. She confirms that Stefano means it and asks Marlena to please cooperate. Marlena is ably to slyly drop her scarf behind the bar as a clue.
In the car, Marlena asks Liz if she is okay. She says she is but that Chris isn’t, that Stefano shot him and she fears he is dead. Marlena realises that Stefano is Roman’s enemy, the man he has been after. It dawns on her that he is responsible for Kayla, and Casey. He warns them that if anyone follows them that both of them could be killed.
Marlena warns him that he is putting his grandchild that Liz is pregnant with in danger. Stefano snarks that this isn’t his grandchild as Tony isn’t his son! The car skids across the road as Marlena tries to struggle with Stefano. He promises them that if they cooperate until he is out of the country then he will have them released, but if they do not that they will live to regret it.
He takes them both to Ridgecrest and Stefano welcomes them to “Ridgecrest”. Marlena is puzzled as the sign said Mountainview. Marlena tries to sneak out when Stefano’s back is turned, but his goon stops her and pushes her back into the room. She falls, hitting her head, and is knocked unconscious. Liz loses it and starts screaming at them and they take her up to a bedroom. Stefano tells Marlena that her actions were very foolish.
:18 mins Anna shows up at the DiMera’s and Tony tells her they want to arrest Stefano. She pretends shock as Roman tells her that Stefano is behind a lot of the crime in Salem. She starts to act faint so Tony takes her out of the room. Julie calls looking for Chris and is surprised when Roman answers the phone, she thought he was on his honeymoon. David comes to the phone and tells her they are there to arrest Stefano but he has disappeared.
Roman and Abe become concerned when they can’t find Liz. She was with Stefano just before he left and they are hoping she knows what car he was driving. Delia has told them that she heard Stefano and Liz arguing. Don heads over to Doug’s Place to look for Liz and talk to Doug and Julie. He fills her in when he arrives. Julie says she knew all along about Stefano. Don agrees and just wishes that they had gotten proof sooner.
Doug comes in chortling about all the action at the DiMera’s. Julie tells him there is an arrest warrant out on Stefano thanks to his second hitman’s confession. Don questions if he has found any information on where Ridgecrest is located. Doug reports he has talked to all the senior citizens and no one remembers Ridgecrest. Next he asks if anyone knows where Chris is? Olive comes in and they tell him that Stefano was involved in the attempt on Roman’s life and they are looking to arrest him but he is missing.
Don tells them about impersonating Roman on the honeymoon, and that now she is missing! As they are talking about Delia swearing that Stefano was in his study when they rang the bell and they have no idea where he disappeared to. Oliver overhears and he heads down to the tunnel. He finds the wounded Chris and starts yelling for help. Doug and Julie fill Don in on secret room off of DiMera’s study. Oliver runs up and tells them Chris has been hurt, his hands full of blood. They run back to Chris and carry him upstairs. Don tells them Chris has been shot.
They ask how Oliver knew about the tunnel and that Chris was down there. He admits he knew about the tunnel that leads to DiMera’s study and he told Chris about it. Chris wanted to use it to listen in on Stefano as he was sure he was behind all the problems. Julie swears she didn’t know anything about the tunnel.
Don calls and tells Roman that Chris has been shot and tells him that he thinks he knows how Stefano escaped. He informs him about the tunnel that leads from Stefano’s study to Doug’s Place. Doug gets on the phone and gives Roman directions on how to open the secret door. Doug continues that there is a door in the brick wall that leads to Doug’s wine cellar! Roman and Abe head into the tunnel and find the blood where he had been shot. They surmise that Chris got in the way of Stefano escaping.
They go up to Doug’s Place as Chris is mumbling about Stefano. He is able to let tell them he took Liz. Roman tells Tony that his father took Liz hostage.
2/22 Back at Ridgecrest, Marlena still hasn't woken up. Petroff reports that Liz is locked in her bedroom. Stefano is able to rouse Marlena and she wakes up yelling for Roman. Stefano tells her she can yell all she want that no one will ever hear her. Stefano apologizes to Petroff for having to deal with such emotional women. He laughs that is fine and worth what Stefano is paying him. Petroff is worried about Liz in her condition. Stefano is quiet happy with the how Petroff has stocked the estate and the well equipped communication room. Stefano is feeling more optimistic about his future now and muses that he will soon be starting over in a new city.
Don tells Maggie that Liz has been taken hostage by Stefano. Next Don tells her that Marlena is also missing and they found her car abandoned. Roman goes back to tell Tony in person that Stefano has taken a very pregnant Liz hostage. Roman asks him again about Ridgecrest but no one knows anything about it.
Stefano is pacing as he is waiting to be contacted. He soon hears from the pilot via radio and told he can't take off as he is grounded due to the blizzard. Stefano starts fussing and Petroff reassures him. When Marlena voices her opinion, Stefano warns her that no one has ever escaped from Ridgecrest and lived to tell about it.
Roman is working in his office and Don shows up and gives him back his badge. He went to the commission and got it back, though he knows Roman has been back on the job unofficially. Roman gets a call that they traced a rental car to Marlena that was left at Doug’s Place on the lake. They head out there, worried that this means Stefano has Marlena too!
Stefano has Marlena brought to join him for dinner, it is an elegant table complete with wine and candlelight. Stefano toasts to his victory and his next empire. Marlena observes she had no idea what a complex man Stefano is. When he points out again the risks of trying to escape, she insists she wouldn't leave Liz in her condition. He commits that once he is safely out of the country that he will release her and Liz. She asks what happens if the police find them before Stefano leaves? He tells her that she won’t have to worry about that. Stefano says not to worry that no one knows where “Ridgecrest” is and since it is now called Mountainview no one will ever be able to find it.
Roman can’t believe Marlena got out of the inn without being seen, and is worried about where she is. Roman recognizes Marlena’s keys and Don recognises the scarf she dropped so they know that she was there when Stefano made his escape.
Later, Petroff complains about Liz’s blubbering and how annoying it is. Stefano tells Petroff that once he makes his getaway that he does not particularly care what happens to either Liz or Marlena.
2/24-2/25 Marlena tries to open a window and sets off an alarm. Petfroff warns her that Stefano is resting and if she wants a window opened to ask him. After he leaves, Liz worries what will happen to them. Marlena doesn’t believe Stefano will harm her baby. Liz warns Marlena that Stefano doesn’t care about her baby since he found out that it isn’t his grandchild. Marlena sees the master control for the alarm and picks up a fireplace poker just as Petroff comes in. She tells him that she was merely trying to stoke the fire as she is cold. He tells her that he wil take care of it and tells her to sit down.
As soon as his back is turned, she gets up again and he sees her and yells at her to sit down. She says she is just pouring some more tea. After he has left the house with the alarm off, Marlena tells her that she saw some of the numbers for the alarm and he will have to reset it when he returns and Liz will try to observe the other numbers. He yells at them again to sit down. They were able to get the firs three numbers to the alarm code, 143. Later, Marlena observes the rest of the code, 14362, and now has the code to turn the alarm off.
:8 mins Tom and Alice arrive at the PD to save the day, they know exactly where Ridgecrest is! They get out the map and Tom shows them exactly where it is. Roman orders up swat team to cover the house as he and Abe head up there. Roman wants supplies organized: weapons, warm clothes, food. Roman calls the local Sheriff and tells him about the hostage situation and asks for an ambulance and paramedics standing by as one of the hostages is pregnant. Roman and Abe head out as Roman worries if he is still there.
As they are in the car driving up there, Abe gets a call from his boss that the press is giving him a hard time and want the location of the hostages. Roman talks to him and tells him they need all the roads into the mountain closed and air support as well. They arrive at the location but don’t see Ridgecrest. After driving around, they call Tom and Alice at the hospital and ask for more details. She is able to thoroughly describe it and Roman knows which place it is. Neil is listening in on an extension and now knows exactly where Liz is being held hostage.
Roman and Abe jump back in the car and head back to Mountainview. Roman figures Stefano changed the sign. The pry off the sign and see Ridgecrest beneath it.
Liz wants to make a run for it while Petroff is going to have lunch. He asks Liz to play piano for him. Marlena warns her that he is too close and they wouldn’t get very far. Marlena asks her to play as she needs time to think. She plays a song and thinks of Neil as she has flashbacks. She cries as she thinks of Neil.
Petroff gets a call that someone has found them and is approaching. He heads up to Stefano, leaving them alone in the living room. Marlena tells Liz, NOW! She enters the code and they run outside only to find a locked gate on the patio that they can’t escape. They can see Roman up on the hill but before ether can get out of the fortress, Stefano comes upon them.
Abe and Roman are watching from above on the hill with binoculars as Liz and Marlena try to break through the gate. Stefano orders them back in the house as he holds a gun on them. Abe has to hold Roman back from racing to the rescue. Abe tells him if he goes in there without a plan that he will be a dead man. Roman just hopes that Marlena doesn’t do anything crazy like that again.
Back inside, Stefano fills Petroff in on their attempted escape. They claim the alarm was off. Petroff wants to take care of them right now, Stefano needs to get out of their first and then they can take care of them. Stefano demands that Petroff find out when the pilot can leave. As Stefano is on the phone with his back to her, Marlena approaches a statue and tries to pry the sword loose. As he starts to turn around, Marlena backs away and he yells at her to sit down. She whispers to Liz that she will distract Stefano and she wants Liz to grab the sword. While she does, Stefano demands to know what they are whispering about. She claims she is just worried about Roman.
Marlena jumps up and pulls the alarm, as Stefano runs after her. Liz grabs the sword, and grabs a vase attempting to hit Stefano from behind. Petroff stops her just before she hits him. During that distraction, Marlena grabs a table knife as well. Liz is taken up to their room and Marlena convinces Stefano to let her go to Liz to check on her as she is ill. Marlena tells her she did great! Marlena thinks Stefano is cracking and is losing perspective. She gets the idea to pry the panel door off after detecting that it is hollow and they get to work trying to pry it off the door.
Chris has woken up and Kayla tells him about Liz being taken hostage. She knows he realised that Stefano poisoned her. She knows how he must have felt when she was in the hospital. She asks him to hurry up and get better. Eugene comes in and tells Chris was a hero he is.
Roman and Abe go over the blueprints of the house and try to figure out which room the women are being held in as a SWAT guy stands by. Liz can’t understand how Marlena got here? She thought she was on her honeymoon. Marlena fills her in on the fake honeymoon while they work on prying the door panel off. They think they hear a noise and race back towards their beds. False alarm and they continue to work on the door.
Meanwhile up on the ridge, the guys are watching the house through binoculars and know that they have been spotted and Stefano now knows they are there. Abe wants a roadblock to keep the press out and doesn’t want anyone let through.
When the ladies hear Stefano’s voice, they head back to get Liz in bed. Stefano tells her that his helicopter has left Chicago and will be there soon. The ladies know they have to move fast once he leaves the room. Liz doesn’t believe for a second that Stefano will ever set them free. When they are successful removing the door panel, they crawl out the opening in the door without opening the door nor setting off the alarm.
Marlena and Liz are racing towards the lake as Roman spots them and orders the SWAT team to move in to cover them. Liz trips and goes flying into the air, basically somersaulting onto the ground. She is unable to move and starts crying in pain. She begs Marlena to leave her, that she can’t make it. Marlena refuses to leave her and holds her as she cries out and says that the baby is coming! Petroff and Stefano come down and drag them back into the house.
:3 mins Roman and Abe are back at their car ready to move in, and SWAT reports in that they couldn’t get to the women. They inform him the pregnant woman had to be carried back inside. Neil comes out of the woods as they demand to know how he evaded the roadblock. He tells them he walked. Roman starts reaming him but he points out that he is a doctor and Liz is pregnant. He knows Roman would do the same thing if it was Marlena who was pregnant. Roman tells him they have to wait for Stefano to make the next move. If the ladies make another crazy move Roman worries that Stefano will kill one of them! They have the blueprints of the house and try to figure out where they are being held. Abe tells Neil that Liz and Marlena are trying so hard to escape as they feel they have nothing to lose.
Stefano tells Marlena that she will delivery the baby. Marlena says she can’t, she has no medical equipment and this baby is premature. Marlena offers to let Liz go as the baby will need a hospital and medical support, and Marlena will stay with him as a hostage. He says women have been having babies and Marlena can deliver the baby!
Marlena begs him to consider what if this was Renee, and what will Renee think of him letting a baby die? She begs him to allow Liz to leave for Renee’s sake, that she will know her father as a kind and compassionate man. Petroff reports an ambulance is approaching. Marlena begs Stefano to allow Liz to leave. He refuses but allows her to go to the ambulance to retrieve medical supplies as Petroff holds a gun to her back.
Roman sees the bruise on his bride’s face and realizes they must have hit her. She comes feet away from Roman, separated by a small fence. She cries as he asks if she is okay. She declares she has not had a peaceful moment since she married him! She tells him that Liz is in labor and she will have to deliver the baby. She is nervous that the baby is a premie. They have brought her a premie kit and an obstretic kit. Roman asks her not to do anything foolish. She says she already did, she married him!
:3 mins Neil is worried the baby is coming premature and Marlena isn’t trained for this. Roman gets a call that a helicopter is inbound. Roman figures it is Stefano’s escape move. While Roman is distracted, Neil grabs the premie unit and dons a paramedic jacket and runs up to the house before they can stop him. They watch him on the way back as he ducks into the back of the house.
3/1 Neil breaks in through the door panel they used to escape from and enters the house undetected. He greets Liz, “Hello Blondie! You ready to start having that baby?”
Roman is outside Ridgecrest and he flashes back to his wedding to Marlena and their vows to each other. Abe interrupts Roman telling him someone has broken through the back door panel where Marlena and Liz previously tried to escape from. They both believe it's probably Neil because he was studying the map of Ridgecrest earlier. They hope Neil is inside helping Marlena deliver Liz's baby rather than captured by Stefano. Roman says Marlena looked exhausted. Roman insists that DeMera is never going to get away, no matter what happens. A helicopter circles above, but Roman says it is a news chopper.
Marlena opens the front door as Petrov holds a gun in her back. They come out to tell Roman Liz's labor is progressing and expecting complications she will need a mercy kit for the delivery. The ambulance driver tells Roman he'll put a call in for the kit and it will take about 20 minutes for it to arrive. Marlena says Liz is in good spirits and okay for now. Petrov and Marlena turn to go back inside and she almost faints. She says she is okay and will be back for the mercy kit. Roman and Abe are worried about Marlena as she isn’t looking very strong. They hope Neil is in there with them to help with the delivery.
Marlena and Petrov come out for the mercy kit and Roman hands it over. Roman asks about Liz and tells her everyone is praying for them both. With tears in her eyes, Marlena tells him that she loves him. Chocked up he tells her that he loves her too.
3/2 Marlena comes downstairs and Stefano asks how Liz is and she tells him she’s alive but weak, the baby is coming soon. Marlena says Liz might not survive the delivery and Stefano said she would manage. Marlena pleads the baby is two months early and she’s not trained for such a delivery. She begs Stefano to let Liz go now with the paramedic but Petrov says it’s too risky and Stefano agrees.
He tells Marlena to go back up to Liz when the helicopter driver sends Stefano a message via CB radio telling him it’ll be about an hour before he can take off to come pick him up. They arrange to meet within the hour. Marlena asks about him taking her away from Liz as she is in labor. She pleads again for Liz saying she will go with him if he lets Liz go. Stefano gets irritated and Petrov shows Stefano that Roman is outside within shooting distance but Stefano stops him. Liz cries out in pain and Marlena rushes upstairs.
Neil and Marlena deliver Liz’s baby girl. Liz screams out in relief asking about her baby. Neil announces it is a beautiful baby girl. He lays the baby on Liz for a moment before placing her in the isolet. Marlena notices Liz’s hands are swelling and she begins convulsing. Neil gives her a shot to try and stop it but says Liz may die if he can’t get her to a hospital. Marlena says she won’t die cause she’s going to Stefano to try and get him to let Liz go.
Marlena tells Stefano that Liz had a baby girl but there are complications and both could die. She pleads for Liz and her baby but Stefano said it’s too risky and Petrov says they shouldn’t change their plans now adding she may be lying about Liz. Stefano sends Petrov up to check. Marlena goes upstairs a few minutes later and Neil shows her Petrov is out cold on the bathroom floor after Neil surprised him with a sedative. They discuss Stefano’s plan to leave. Neil looks at the baby and tells Marlena he thought for a while that it was going to be his baby but it’s starting to sink in that she isn’t.
Marlena said Liz will always be grateful to him for saving her baby’s life and Neil corrected her saying they both saved the baby. Stefano calls up for Petrov and comes to the door and Marlena said he wasn’t there. He asked about Liz and Marlena said she was barely alive. Stefano takes Marlena downstairs to look for Petrov. He tells her to stay put while he gets ready to leave to meet the helicopter that they hear approaching. Stefano makes contact with the pilot and says they will be there. He sends Marlena upstairs to get her coat.
3/3 The helicopter arrives and Stefano takes Marlena to it. As they take off, Roman grabs hold of the lower rung and hangs on. Marlena fights Stefano so fiercely, he has no choice but to land and is taken into custody. Liz and baby taken by ambulance, with Neil by her side to the hospital.
Marlena comes to check on Liz and Neil says she hasn't gone into a coma yet but the edema is worse and she has to get to a hospital soon. He tells Marlena the baby is perfect considering the circumstances and Petrov is still unconscious on the bathroom floor. Stefano calls up for Marlena to come back downstairs and Neil pleads with her not to go with Stefano saying he just needs one good shot at him. Marlena says she'll draw Stefano around the back so Neil can signal for the paramedics. Marlena tells him to take care of Liz and she goes downstairs to leave with Stefano. Neil tells Blondie (Liz) to hang in there and not to go into that coma.
Marlena comes downstairs and Stefano tells her the helicopter is there and they have to go. She tells him she hopes the paramedics will come in and get Liz after they leave. As they leave Stefano waves a gun as he tells Marlena that her concern for Liz and the baby is admirable. Marlena is driving the car while Stefano holds the gun on her. Abe calls to report Stefano's car just left and he has a gun pointed at Marlena's head. He orders no one is to move a muscle until they catch up with Stefano. Neil comes out screaming for the ambulance.
Neil is relaying Liz's condition to the paramedics as they load her onto the gurney to take her to the ambulance. Liz mumbles asking about the baby and Neil tells her the baby is terrific. Liz opens her eyes and tells Neil that she knew he would come and he said wild horses wouldn't keep him away. Liz moans in pain and asks where she is at?
Neil tells her they are taking her to the hospital and she has a beautiful baby girl. He tells Liz the baby is a real looker just like her Momma. The paramedics say it's time to go and they ask about Petrov and Neil tells them the cops can deal with him. He says he will take the baby down himself and Liz calls out to Neil. He kneels beside her and she tries to tell him the baby is his but she goes into a coma before she can finish.
Stefano and Marlena arrive to meet the helicopter. As he puts Marlena into the front seat of the helicopter she sees the pilot has a gun and she fights with him. Not realizing the pilot is Roman, she punches him and knocks him out the door. Stefano gets in the pilot's seat and begins to lift off the ground. Roman grabs hold of the landing skids and Marlena fights with Stefano forcing the helicopter back down.
Roman opens the door and forces Stefano out while Abe pats him down and handcuffs him. Roman is yelling at Stefano telling him he ought to kill him right then. Abe yells at Roman telling him Marlena needs him and he'll take care of Stefano. Roman goes around the helicopter and sees Marlena who is looking away from him. Marlena turns around and cries running into Roman's arms.
Dvd #5B :5 mins Kayla hears a news report in Chris’ hospital room about Stefano holding Liz and Marlena hostage. Liz wakes up and realises that Neil is there with her. He assures her that the baby is okay and she is going to the hospital now as she moans in pain. He tells her the baby is a little girl and a real looker just like her mama. The paramedics take her away as Liz calls out for him and tries to tell him that the baby is his as she passes out before she can get the words out.
Marlena sobs in Roman’s arms as he assures her that it is all over now. He tells her they are going to go home and be Mr. And Mrs. Roman Brady for the rest of their lives. Abe is with them and calls Kayla to let he know that both Roman and Marlena are safe and they are headed into the hospital to get Marlena checked out. Abe asks Roman if they are ready to go and they all get in the car to head to the hospital. Kayla calls Tom with the good news. Tom will be waiting for Marlena when she arrives.
From the ambulance, Neil calls Kayla and fills her in. He tells her that Liz is comatose and bring Liz right into surgery and asks her to get an OR ready. Neil arrives with Liz and she is rushed her into surgery. Kayla and Tom discuss Marlena's arrival and are there waiting when the elevator doors open.
Renee tells her how sorry she is for what Stefano did to her. Tom gives her a big hug, and Tony thanks Marlena for helping Neil deliver his daughter. Roman takes Marlena to be checked out.
Roman is by her bedside as he remembers their vows as she is sleeping. She wakes up crying that she is afraid it isn’t over yet. She tells him that sometimes when she closes her eyes, she can see the helicopter all over again - the blades and the look on Stefano’s face as he wanted to kill Roman! He tells her again that it is over and asks her to repeat that. He asks her to think of them. She wants to know if Stefano has talked? He admits not yet, and she is still scared.
She grins that he got stuck with a scaredy cat wife. He disagrees that she is the bravest, strongest, smartest woman in the world. He is so sweet and gentle with her. He tells her what a wonderful person she is. He asks her to get dressed so he can take her home. She looks scared to live and says she is a little bit tired. He tells her that she can stay there as long as she wants, she has earned it.
She confesses that she feels scared and haunted by it. She feels helpless like Stefano is waiting around the corner. She breaks down and cries as he asks her if she is okay? She says no she isn’t as she sobs. She doesn’t want to see anyone. He asks her not even Eugene? He has been waiting for hours and is out in the hallway. She gives him a big happy smile that yes she wants to see Eugene.
Cute scene as roles are reversed. Eugene becomes the caretaker. He calls Alice and tells her that Roman is a basket case and needs some TLC and food. After he leaves, Marlena babbles to Eugene about everything that happened to her and how she can’t stop thinking about. She is stuck. He stops her and suggests that she get her mind off of Stefano on onto someone else, Roman.
He is surprised that she even stopped thinking about Roman, even for a minute. He asks her to think about all the things he has done for her, how much time he spent looking, watching, waiting for that maniac to make a move. He asks her to think about the fact that she owes Roman something.
He tells her that it really hurt him (Eugene) that Stefano was holding her hostage as Eugene held her hostage. He realizes now how much pain he must have caused her and Roman. She brushes it off that is all forgotten. He disagrees, like with Stefano, it is over but not forgotten and there is a big debt that he still owes her.
She tells him that debt is paid and he has become her very good friend. He tells her then he is ordering her to get up out of this bed and go home and throw her arms around Roman, he needs her! He says they should go home and make each other whole again, as they have both been hurt by Stefano. She agrees, they are going to make a home together. She asks Eugene to go get Roman for her.
:11 mins Roman talks to Abe, they are still hoping for a full confession. Alice thanks him for his service and tells him that the city of Salem owes him a huge debt for rescuing Liz and Marlena, and ridding the city of drugs. Two reporters get up to the floor and Roman demands to know what they want? Security guards come up and apologise that they created a diversion and then snuck up here. Alice suggests that they go to the penthouse where it is quieter and more private. Marie is there sprucing it up a bit. Alice also suggests that he carry his bride over the threshold.
Marie and Neil arrive at the penthouse to get it ready. It is filled with flowers and the phone rings off the hook. The Police Commissioner calls, and then the Police Benevolent Association is going to throw a dinner to honor him. Danny bringing a case of wine as his wedding gift. He is returning with a special dinner for the newlyweds later that night. The table is set with flowers and candles, and champagne.
Glitchy Scene with warbly sound but very rare! Stefano is in jail! Abe points out that his empire is crumbling beneath his feet and why not answer a few questions. His attorney declares that Stefano does not want to say anything. Abe fiercely stares him down and declares that Stefano is NOT running this show! He is going to wipe that stupid grin off of his face. He quickly succeeds when he tells Stefano that Renee is there to see him.
Warbly sound here and glitchy picture. Stefano is sorry, he let himself down, and Tony, and Renee. He gets chocked up as he apologizes. (Even though reduced quality so rare to see a humbled Stefano).
Roman follows instructions and carries Marlena over the threshold. She doesn’t realise the significance that this is the first night together as Mr. & Mrs. Brady. So he takes her back out so he can carry her in again! They don’t have two seconds together when their phone starts ringing. A reporter wanting to do a story, another offer to write his life story, and as the phone rings again, they both scream in frustration! Roman immediately calls and books their honeymoon at Mount Holly Resort. and they plan on leaving immediately.
Then Marlena notices the beautiful set romantic table and Danny’s note that he is bringing them dinner. Marlena says she can’t disappoint everyone by not enjoying this. He offers they can go on their honeymoon tomorrow then. The phone rings again, does he need a press secretary. He picks her up to take her off to bed and she stops him to unplug the phone first!
Later as she is in her negligee and he is in his robe, they toast in champagne in their beautiful glasses. He toasts to his wife, the most beautiful, kind, funny, sensitive and the only woman in the world he could ever love. She toast back to him the only man she would ever want to spend a honeymoon with, and she laughs!
They toast to a lifetime of peace and quiet and no craziness. Roman promises they are going to have a very normal life, just him and her and Carrie. He toasts to a life with no crisis, just as the doorbell rings. He tells her not to answer it! She reminds him it is probably Danny with dinner. She buzzes the person in before looking and he tells her that it wasn’t Danny.
Marlena’s cousin, Trista, has arrived! She is in town early to begin her nursing school studies at the hospital. Trista thanked Roman for calling her family while Stefano held Marlena hostage. Roman isn't excited Trista is there as he misunderstood thinking she was staying with them. Marlena clears it up that Trista will be staying in the dorms but Trista says she can't move in right away, but she will stay in a hotel. Marlena doesn’t feel right about that her first night in town, but her and Roman look at each other awkwardly both thinking that they would prefer she isn’t there so they could finally be alone together.
Danny arrives with dinner and he meets Trista and realizes she just arrived. He asks Roman to help him in the kitchen. Trista and Marlena are excited about her being in Salem and catch up while Danny brings out the dinner. Marie calls and Marlena fills her in on Trista arriving early. Marie tells her to have Danny bring Trista to Shenanigan's and she will take care of her. Marie declares she does not want to hear from Marlena until after her honeymoon.
Danny has invited Trista to join him for dinner and they are off as Marlena and Roman are grateful to him. Roman tells Trista how glad he is she is in town (now that she is leaving, LOL)! Danny and Trista leave and Marlena teases Roman about freaking out over Trista. He tells her to unplug the phone again and locking the door! He welcomes her to her honeymoon and starts kissing her.
Roman and Marlena enjoy their dinner and are happy to finally be alone. Roman is surprised that Roman is such a gourmet cook. Roman feeds Marlena strawberries and cream and she feeds Roman and kisses him passionately. They go out on the terrace and enjoy the view. Marlena asked Roman if he is happy with her in the penthouse and he says he would prefer a big house with a big backyard with trees and a treehouse. They discuss getting a house someday and then go inside to get warm. Marlena tries on skis and Roman helps her balance and leaves to get the bags. Marlena falls over and he helps her take them off telling her he will teach her to ski.
Marlena tries on skis and Roman helps her balance and leaves to get the bags. Marlena falls over and he helps her take them off telling her he will teach her to ski.
Roman and Marlena are on the ski lift as he teaches her how to get off the lift and tells her where all they are going to ski to and they get off the lift and looks Marlena has the hang of it until she falls down. Roman skis behind her till she gets the hang of it and he lets her go alone and she falls down again. They have fun while Marlena tries to learn to ski and falls down several times.
Roman and Marlena stop for a break and he brings over a tray of hot cocoa and snacks. Marlena asked him what is wrong as he seems upset. He tells her that he talked to Abe and that Stefano had a stroke and died this morning. She gasps and he tells her not to waste her feelings on him. Roman is upset they didn't get to make him pay but Marlena has mixed emotions as she thinks of Renee and Tony. He hopes it puts a kink in the drug trafficking in Salem.
She asked about Liz and he says she is out of the coma and the baby is doing fine. Roman tells her that she saved Liz’s life. Marlena is happy and raves how wonderful everything is, and how wonderful he is, as they get back to enjoying each other and talking about their life together. Roman says he wants them to go fishing together. She turns him down, then agrees she will learn to fish if HE learns how to cook. He then talks her into trying bowling.
They tell each other how much they love the other. Roman wants to head to Iceberg Gulch. Marlena brags that she has been tubing all of her life. He challenges her to a race to the bottom. He dives onto his tube and beats her down. She laughs and complains about him cheating. They tube down again sweetly holding hands. Then Roman comes down from the top of the hill at a much faster speed as she yells out for him to be careful and cheers him on.
They enjoy some alone time in their romantic cottage, snuggling in bed. He tells her he has to send Trista flowers as he doesn’t want her to think he is a big meanie (as he was less than enthusiastic to see her). Marlena get out of bed and winces in pain.
He tells her that she did great yesterday and will do even better today. She asks if she can’t just watch him. He won’t hear of her missing all the fun. He promises if she does good, that he will give her a massage. He tells her that he talked to Kayla and Chris is going home from the hospital! He doesn’t want to talk about Salem, he would rather keep it a million miles away and leans in to kiss her sweetly.
Over breakfast, Marlena pleads she needs a day to recuperate and promises she will go with him tomorrow. He asks her why she hit him over the head in the helicopter? She reports that she thought he was one of Stefano’s men and when he pulled the gun out, she thought he was going to kill her. He grins that she is one tough cookie.
Roman asks what she wants to do today instead of skiing? She would like to shop in all the yummy shops down in the plaza. He offers if he can go skiing this morning while she watches, he will go shopping with her in the afternoon. She advises he eat up if he is going shopping with her, he will need his stamina!
Roman skis down the hill as Marlena cheers him on. He skis right into her arms and they fall into the snow together. Back in the room, she accuses him of stalling so he doesn’t have to go shopping. He comes out only wrapped in a towel. He starts groaning over his back that he twisted while skiing. She pulls him over to lay down on the bed and starts massaging his lower back, which leads to more back rubbing and a lot of kissing.
Soon they return from shopping, and Roman recommends they enjoy their last night there. She tries to talk him into staying longer but he claims he is a working stiff and they are waiting for him.
Later Marlena comes out looking incredible in her cocktail dress and asks him to stop packing so they could enjoy their last night together. He teases her that her ordered hot dogs for dinner. As she squeals and threatens his manly parts, he says he also ordered filet mignon, lobster, mushrooms in wine sauce, and champagne. He promises later that he has a surprise for her, though she looks hesitant wondering what he is planning now. He tells her he has to go slip into something more comfortable (he is currently wearing his brown plaid shirt). She asks him to put on something sexy.
He comes out in red long johns and a silly hat and she tells him that he looks ridiculous. She makes him answer the door and she escapes to another room. He is embarrassed and grabs a shaw to answer the door to the room service guy. He changes into causal wear and rejoins his wife by the fire, opens champagne as she wraps her arms around him in sheer joy.
They sip their champagne and then he asks her to sit down as there is something he has to tell her. She looks at him concerned over what is next? He tells her that not only is he a cop but he works for the WSB. He tells her that he couldn’t tell her about this before. He shares that they recruited her and that was why he was in New Jersey. He is currently on inactive duty until something else comes up. She wonders if he will be bored now without a big villain he is after. He says he will be happy with just boring old police work and doesn’t need international excitement.
They head out to the jacuzzi (these scenes are from 3/15). She squeals how cold it is outside and they are the only crazy people out there. She says she has never understood why people go into a hot tub in winter! He hands her whipped cream hot chocolate drink. They start kissing and as she wraps her arms around his neck, he pulls her under the water still kissing her.
Afterwards, they snuggle in front of the fire. When they get back into the cottage, Marlena calls Trista to let her know they are coming home tomorrow and wanted to check on her. Roman is busy kissing her neck and doing his best to distract her.
As they get back to kissing, she tells him she is cold and starts giggling and he starts giggling. They are so cute together. He suggests a good way to warm up and takes her over to sit in front of the fire and starts massaging his head with a towel and she melts in pleasure, as she tells her sweet nothings and starts kissing her again.
3/18 (?) They reunite with Doug, Julie, and Maggie as they are all thrilled to see them return as Marlena and Roman are dressed up for an evening out at Doug’s Place. Roman teases that she skis as well as she cooks. Don tells Marlena that Neil and Marie got married. Then he tells her that Neil is the father of Liz’s baby!
Doug serenades them with “On the Wings of Love”, as Roman and Marlena hold hands and reminisce via flashback, then Julie has memories of Doug as he sings, then Don and Maggie flashback to kissing! Then Maggie thinks of Mickey.
Marlena is at the hospital talking to Trista, a patient, Chris (who is looking great). Then she is over to the Right Connection. She heads out to Shenanigan’s with Trista and Eugene. Next she is back at the hospital and talks to Julie, and then Neil. She then talks to a shaken Marie who is reeling from the news of him being Nicole’s father. She is in love with Neil, but she knows Liz is in love with him as well. Then Marlena talks to Eugene and Trista again. Then while she is talking to Neil and Marie, Liz comes in. Next Marlena is exercise with Julie and Trista.
3/29 Marlena arrives at the PD to find Shawn and Roman arguing. Shawn is unhappy with the halfway house she plans on opening. He is concerned that it sounds dangerous to him and Caroline. Marlena points out that they are trying to help kids. He claims a bunch of degenerates will be hanging around. She points out that being married to his son has given her a lot of experience with those types of people.
Shawn counters, “You think he is bad? You wait, wait until you meet his brother!” He gives her a letter from Bo as Roman tells her that he is out of the Merchant Marines and is riding his motorcycle across the US to get home. They continue to argue about the halfway house, Roman intervenes and points out that his job is dangerous too and he knows how to do his job.
Roman believes in her and will be spending a lot of time at the crisis centre keeping an eye on her and Kayla. Shawn yells, “Kayla?” He didn’t know of her planned involvement. Shawn realizes she isn’t going to listen to anything he says. She agrees that she is pretty stubborn. He just hopes that he can talk some sense into that kid of his (referring to Bo).
They head to Shenanigan’s, and stop and talk to Abe and Nikki, as Abe and and Roman give each other a hard time. Then they stop at Shawn and Tom’s table. Tom pitches that he thinks she should do a radio show from the crisis center. Roman doesn’t love that idea, though of course Marlena does.
Next they are over at Doug’s Place, and David greets them. Then they run into Kayla and she is sad over her jealousy of Chris and Gwen’s friendship.
Maggie and Don stop by and they invite everyone to join them, though Kayla has to head back to work. Marlena tells them about wanting to find a home with lots of bedrooms.
4/1 :7 mins. Don admits to Marlena that he is in love with Maggie, and that she took her wedding ring off the other night. Marlena already knew it and tells Don that he is the best. Mickey is seen on his way home but worried as Stephano is still on the loose. He tries to call Roman but he isn’t back at work yet. He tries to leave a message for Roman or Abe to try to get protection for Maggie, but once he says he is Mickey Horton, they hang up on him.
Julie tells Doug and Don that she got an emergency interrupt from the operator so she hung up the phone but no one has called back. Don tells her about a sick freak saying he is Mickey calling the police station. Abe calls Don and tells him that they have had another call from the fake Mickey.
Mickey finally arrives home and can’t find Maggie or Melissa. He runs upstairs desperately searching for his family. While he is upstairs, Don and Maggie come in and as Mickey comes down the stairs he overhears her telling Don that she loves him and then the kiss passionately as a shocked Mickey watches from the stairs. He grabs his chest and falls to the floor. Don turns the guy over and is shocked to find it is Mickey!
Roman and Marlena talk about Mickey’s return. Marlena worries about what Mickey, Don and Maggie are going to be going through.
Roman decides that this marriage thing isn’t bad as he views another gift. He teases her that this marriage thing does have some drawbacks but he declares that he made out pretty good, as these things are worth a fortune. He does tell her that they could take all the presents back tomorrow but he is keeping her forever. She asks him to help her with thank you notes but he has to go to the hospital to talk to Mickey. Trista shows up as he is heading out.
Marlena talks to Don at the hospital. He says that she is a wonderful woman but also his best friend’s wife. She asks him what is he going to do about Maggie? He confides there is nothing to do as Maggie is a married woman. After Don walks away, Roman approaches and tells her she is right that Don looks heartbroken. He warns her that no one can help Don right now, not even her. She feels like everyone should be jumping for joy that Mickey is alive.
Neil comes out and tells them that he had to give Mickey another sedative. He doesn’t know what happened but obviously Don and Mickey are feuding about something. Roman asks if he can go talk to him. Neil warns him that Mickey will be out cold in about 2 minutes.
Back home, Marlena is huffing and puffing having just returned from a run with Roman. He points out that she got to see the sunrise, she would prefer the sunset. She laughs as she kinda whines about skiing and bowling and fishing and she can’t take it anymore.
Marlena checks out the Houses for Sale in the newspaper and excitedly tells Roman about a listing that sounds perfect. She shows him a listing for a 4 bedroom, 2 bath, and a large backyard but needs TLC. He is worried about the TLC and mowing a big backyard. She points out that it is on the Horton’s Street. He observes that it is a pricey neighbourhood. She says but needing TLC and them pooling their money, she is sure they could afford it. He wants to buy their first house on his own. She points out they are partners, right?
He teases her that when she learns how to ski, and learns how to fish, and learns how to bowl, and learns how to cook that then they can discuss the partnership. She is sure they can swing it and he grudgingly agrees just to look at it. He worries that it seems like she already loves it as she tells him he is not going to talk her out of her house.
Roman gets a call to come into work but he begs off that he has a personal emergency and makes Marlena’s day that he doesn’t cancel on her. They stop at Shenanigan’s (reduced quality scenes). Alice calls Marlena while she is there. Marlena reports back to Roman that Mickey won’t go home with Maggie. Marlena is saddened that everyone is getting hurt by this. Roman says that Don deserves better than this. He is grateful that he has her all to himself. She wishes everyone could have what her and Roman have together, Roman says they are the lucky ones.
They stop by Maggie’s to offer her comfort. Maggie reports being lost and confused. Marlena knows she is torn between two men. As Roman and Marlena are driving home, she talks him into swinging by her dream house again. He reluctantly agree. We don’t see their initial tour of the house, back in the car Roman complains about all the items that need repairing and he warns her it will cost a fortune to fix up. She promises they will fix it up together. He asks her if she truly wants the place, warts and all? She says yes, she really does with a soft and loving look on her face. He says they will have to stop by the bank on his way home to get his credit checked and then he needs to see one of her competitors to get his head examined.
Marlena visits Mickey and he confides in her about the situation. He can’t go home to her and have her care for him out of duty and have a wife who is in love with another man. Marlena listens and reminds him that she is there for him if he wants to talk. She realises how betrayed he must feel. She reminds him of what Maggie was going through. He doesn’t blame Maggie, he blames Don for taking advantage of her and is so angry he wants to kill him.
Marlena runs into Julie outside of his hospital room. Marlena tells her that he is confused, hostile, and sad. Julie says it wasn’t much a home coming for him. Doug tells Julie that he talked to the boarding school about Hope. She grabbed a bag and just left sometime last night without telling anyone. Julie is relieved that she isn’t missing, but has run away.
When they are back home, Doug calls Roman and asks if there is any news about Hope. He doesn’t have any news, and promises to call when he does. After he hangs up, Marlena asks if he has talked to any of Hope’s friends. Abe arrives and updates Roman that they haven’t found any trace of Hope yet. He is there to tell Roman about Mickey’s confinement in Venezuela. He was held in a compound in the jungle a couple of hours outside of Caracas. When Mickey escaped he didn’t realize Stefano was dead but figures that is why the guards didn’t go after him.
The phone rings with a call from the bank and Roman gives Marlena a somber face scaring her. He says he is afraid he has news for her, looks like they bought themselves a house! She squeals in happiness and jumps into his arms. They head to Shenanigan’s to celebrate! Marlena is making a list of what they need for the house. Marlena is determined to do the work themselves, while Roman is less sure about that.
They are laughing and planning as Neil approaches their table. He reports that Mickey is much better and maybe going home tomorrow. He asks if there is any news on Hope? Roman tells him they are hoping she is heading back to Salem. They tell him they bought a house!
Back home, he takes her in his arms as they continue to celebrate their new home. But soon, Marlena is hurting for her friends going through a tough time. He wants to get her thoughts and attention back on their happy future. Marlena starts to realize they have to start packing, they are moving in a few days! She teases him that they should start by packing the things that they should put in storage while they are working on the house … like his bowling ball and she runs into the other room with him laughing right behind her.
Eugene and Trista are at the penthouse helping her pack and Roman soon joins them and she jumps into his arms. She asks where he has been and he declares rescuing a damsel in distress. Marlena notices lipstick on his collar. Roman reports that Hope Williams is safe! He was chasing a drunk driver and Hope was in the car with him. She managed to get out of the car away from the guy and Roman took her home. Marlena says that still doesn’t explain the lipstick.
Marlena changes the subject and then after Eugene and Trista leaves, she tells him she needs to talk to him about something very important in a very serious tone. She asks him again about the lipstick on his collar. He starts teasing her with a bunch of female names as she starts giggling and they wind up in each other’s arms.
Shawn is there to help them move and tells Roman that Scooter and Skipper will be there soon. Roman asks if that isn’t the two guys who drove their moving truck into the river as they were eyeballing a pretty woman? Marlena takes back her precious goblets and declares she will take them herself, for her new mantel.
Scooter and Skipper are moving boxes rather roughly as Marlena cringes. As they bumble around, Roman tells his pop that he sure hope he got them cheap. Shawn tells Roman that Caroline is waiting by the phone night and day to hear from Bo. Pop is ready to wring Bo’s neck when he finally shows up. Once they are alone in the penthouse, she hugs Roman and asks him if he feels better about the house now? He teases her that he will feel better about it when he gets his money’s worth this summer while watching her mow the lawn. She suggests one of Carrie’s friends for the job.
Roman carries her over the threshold of their new place, pretend groaning that his back hurts from carrying her so often over thresholds. Scooter and Skipper soon arrive carrying a big heavy box of her dishes. As they carry them into the kitchen, they hear a big crash.
Roman points out that they needed new dishes. She puts her goblets on the fireplace mantel and tells him how much she loves it. He tells her that she has to admit it comes with a few problems. It is raining and the roof begins to leak but she continues to laugh with pure joy, so happy in their new home regardless of the problems. As they sit on the couch in front of the fire, it starts filling the living with smoke and Roman jumps up to take care of it.
After Eugene and Trista leave walking into the rain (their visit not shown), Roman laughs with Marlena that they can take a walk in the rain INSIDE their home.
One morning, Roman tells her that he has a very important duty that he has to do every morning come rain or shine. He tells her it is a task that has been forced upon him, a burden really, he has to kiss his wife every morning. She laughs that he has to catch her first and she darts across the living room though he quickly catches her to give the promised kiss.
Tony and Anna come to visit Roman and Marlena. They tell her that they are getting married and then ask to spend more time with Carrie. Anna misses her and wants to spend more time with her. Anna asks if she can spend weekends with them. He asks Marlena what she thinks? She says it is up to Roman. He agrees and Anna is thrilled.
After Anna leaves, Roman comments that Anna was always sweet and pretty, but now she is glamourous. Marlena proclaims she is drop dead gorgeous. Roman asks if she is jealous? She points out he was married to her but appears that was another woman. She asks if he is sure. He tells her she is stuck with him. She is concerned about he feels about Carrie spending time with Anna and Tony. He admits he is a little upset as he is used to having her around all the time. But he knows her mother has a right to see her. He tells Marlena that their weekends will be a lot quieter now.
Marlena asks him again if he has any regrets as Anna is quite beautiful. He agrees that she is and that he did love her once, but she should know by now that she is the only woman in his life and it has been that way since the first time he saw her. She asks if he ever loved Anna as much as he loves her? He pulls her to him and kisses her passionately and gazes seductively into her eyes as he tells her, “I have never loved anyone 1/10th of how much I love you.” He leans into kiss him again.
Hope shows up at Roman’s door and tells him she was cold in the car and asks if she can come in. She flirts with him as she confesses she isn’t sick. She had a chemistry test today and so she faked being sick. He asks why she thinks she can trust him with this information? She shares that he was so cool when he found her by the road so she likes him, A LOT! When she hears voices upstairs, she tells him she will see him later. After she walks out, he says to himself, “I hope not!”
Abe calls Roman to tell him that "somebody" took his father's car out for a joy ride. Roman immediately knows who Abe means and heads down the PD. As they enter, Bo grabs Marlena and sweeps her into a big kiss. She laughs that she heard he was a little crazy. He welcomes her to the family and tells her how pretty she is (meeting his new sister-in-law for the first time). He says he wishes he had met her before Roman did and he bets she did too! The arresting officer is willing to drop the charges, but Roman refuses to give his brother special treatment.
Bo gives them a wedding present, it is a microwave. She is excited as she has never had one and always wanted one. She worries it must have been terribly expensive. He bought it for her for $75 and Abe jokes that it must be hot. She says that is a real bargain, but Roman says it was a real steal. Roman is sure it was stolen and takes it to run a check on the owner’s ID that is engraved onto it.
Roman warns him to get a job and not be sponging off of mom and pop. Bo declares he will sooner or later, at least do it for their mother and stop acting like a bum which is hurting her. Bo says he wouldn’t do anything to hurt their mother and he doesn’t have to be like Roman to make mom happy. Bo tells him he has seen all the places their mom wanted to see. He pokes fun at Roman for moving to New Jersey and their mom was excited about that. Bo joined the Merchant Marines and sailed around the world. Bo leaves as Marlena tells him to take care. He observes that Marlena suits her a lot better than “Doc”. She tells him to take care.
Later in bed, Roman asks her what she thinks of his little brother. She observes that she has a lot on her mind. She tells Roman that Bo is just putting on an act to get Roman’s attention. He changes the subject and tells her he can’t tell her what he is thinking about as it would singe her earlobes. She suggests that maybe they shouldn’t talk. He agrees as he begins kissing her.
Another day, Don comes by to tell them that he is leaving Salem and is there to say goodbye. She is very glum and sad at this news. Roman admits that he will miss him too, as he isn’t a bad guy to have around. Marlena chokes up as it tells her, “this is it kid” and gives her a big hug and kisses her on the forehead. Roman comes downstairs and she leans into him for comfort over losing such a dear friend and sheds a few tears.
Bo arrives at Roman and Marlena’s with his ladder and painting supplies. He tells Marlena, “Good morning good looking”. He tells Marlena that she is even better looking in the morning than at night. She jokes that flattery and stolen microwaves will get him everywhere in life as she walks off. Bo says, “Ouch, she isn’t only pretty but sharp!”
Later, Marlena can’t start her car. Bo offers to drive her wherever she wants to go. No way Roman will let Bo take her on his motorcycle. He reminds him he has pop’s car to bring the painting supplies over. Julie arrives with wall paper supplies and Juile recognizes it is Bo Brady and reminds him who she is and welcomes him back to Salem. She invites him to come by her and Doug’s place out at the lake. He says that he was just out there last night. He picked up some chick at Shenanigan’s, she was a real fox but trouble and he took her home. She was a real high and mighty type. Julie looks at him curiously as this sounds a lot like Hope.
Bo takes Marlena to “The Body Connection” and she introduces him to Tony. It will be the location for the new teen center Tony is sponsoring. Her and Tony go into the office space, as Bo follows. A teen, Pamela, comes in. Marlena invites her to join them for teen therapy. She barters a meal for her attending one therapy session. After the snarky teen leaves, Bo questions that she let her talk to her that way. After she explains that as a doctor that yes she would. He tells her that she is a fascinating woman. Tony tells her that she has his financial help and whatever she needs, and agrees with Bo that she is a fascinating woman she is.
Roman arrives next to talk to Marlena and Bo who are still at “The Body Connection”. He tells Bo that pop has some chores he wants him to do. Hope walks in and Bo is surprised to learn this beauty is little Hope Williams. She is initially happy to see him, and shares that they used to play together as kids. He makes a comment about them playing doctor when they were kids, and asks if she still has that mole, embarrassing her. She gets snarky and tells him to “Drop Dead!” and walks out. Roman jokes about Bo going down in flames, “Still the charmer I see!”
Marlena stops by to talk to Maggie. She is torn between Don and Mickey and so confused. She asks if it is possible to love two men? Marlena points out that she does love each of them so yes it is possible.
(This is cut) Roman and Marlena are suddenly at Marie’s (dressed in evening clothes) and Roman can’t believe that she was shot in her own home.
Roman finds Marlena in bed reading a microwave cook book. He laughs as he reminds her that they don’t have a microwave. But she reminds him when she had to return the one Bo gave her, he promised to get her a new one. He says some day, but first they need to work on the house. He gets a call with the fingerprint information and looks very somber. Of course he can’t give Marlena the details. He stares off into space very disturbed and she starts kissing him finally taking his mind off the phone call.
In the morning, Carrie comes bouncing into bed with them as she is lonely. Roman suggests that they may have to get started work on a little brother or sister for her so she won’t get lonely. Cute morning scenes as he reads her a book. After Carrie goes downstairs, he starts kissing Marlena and seducing her. Then pulls away and tells her he has to go to work.
Hope is babysitting Carrie, Bo comes by to start wallpapering for Marlena. When Bo starts teasing Hope, Roman warns him to be careful with this one as Hope has a pretty mean temper. As Roman is getting ready to leave, he asks Hope to keep an eye on Carrie getting into the chocolate chip cookies. Bo makes a crack about how boring Roman’s life has become.
Bo snarkily asks Roman if he misses all the glamour and excitement and asks him if he misses it now that he has a more domestic life. Roman assures him he doesn't miss getting shot at! As Roman leaves, he warns Bo to be nice to Hope. Hope tells Roman not to worry that she can take of herself.
Bo is very sweet to Marlena when she returns home and Hope comments on his crush on Marlena. She then admits to thinking that Roman is quite the hero. Eugene, Trista, and Kayla all arrive to help with the wallpapering job. But Eugene suggests they eat first as he is starving. Trista asks, “Tuna Surprise” and Marlena laughs, “no” as Eugene sighs with relief. Bo suggests they order out.
Bo is helping out cleaning up at the teen center. Marlena is disappointed when a young man leaves refusing her help.
Dvd #5C 6/3 Roman and Abe scenes at the PD, Eugene and Trista come in. Then Chris walks in to talk to Roman.
Later that night, A lounge lizard finds Hope outside of Shenanigan’s, grabs her and starts forcing himself on her. Bo comes outside, grabs the guy and punches him out. Roman and Abe come down the stairs to the rescue as Danny told them there might be trouble. Roman suggests Bo take Hope home. Bo says no, that Hope isn't safe with him either and walks off leaving Hope in Roman’s care.
Roman takes her back to the Inn. When he sees Bo, he wants to know why Bo was a jerk and refused to take Hope home with him? He tells Roman again that Hope isn't necessarily any safer with him. Roman isn't getting the clue, and suggests that Bo look out for her as she is almost a member of the family.
6/8-6/20 Bo calls Roman and asks him if he can babysit Carrie today, it is a favor for Marlena. Meanwhile, Marlena calls Hope and asks her if SHE can babysit. She is surprised when Bo shows up to babysit as Roman didn’t tell her. Shortly after, Hope arrives and is less than thrilled to see Bo. She wants to know why he is there? Bo tries to leave but Roman returns home and stops him. Hope declares if Hope is staying that she is leaving!
Mrs. H comes into the chaos and orders Roman and Marlena to go out to lunch while she puts Bo and Hope to work. Back home, Roman & Marlena are in their empty new home for furniture delivery. Marlena worries that her furniture hasn’t arrived as they are getting ready for a party but do not have a couch or anywhere to sit! Bo hangs up. There is no answer at the moving company, and Marlena wants to cancel that party. Bo suggests that her guests can just sit on the floor. She says she does not have those kind of friends. Mrs. H assures them that the party will go off just fine!
Eugene and Trista arrive with a house warming gift and immediately comment on the lack of seating. Marlena laments that she was going to call him and tell him not to come. He insists the party should continue! Next Lexi and Abe arrive and soon their home is filled with the love and laughter of friends and family. Marlena asks Bo if there is any sign of the moving truck with her couch and he shakes his head no. The couch finally arrives!
Don and Maggie soon arrive bearing presents, while Scooter and Skippy are still bringing in furniture. Hope arrives and introduces her friend “Ronnie” to Roman and Marlena. Bo tells her that she really knows how to pick them, seeming to know her date. As the party is in full swing, the lights start flickering as Marlena groans please not now. Cute scene as Bo holds Carrie.
Bo gives Hope’s date a difficult time and asks him, “How is the microwave business?” Marlena says she's always wanted a microwave and the guy says he sold Bo one. Marlena said that Bo had given her one but it turned out to be stolen so she couldn't keep it. She then realizes Hope's date must have stolen it, he realizes they are on to him and grabs Hope and runs out of the party. Marlena begs Bo to go after Hope and get her away from the thief. After Bo runs out, Roman comes into the room and Marlena fills him in. He runs outside and finds the guy gone, and suggests Hope comes back inside. Eugene gives a toast to the new home.
Abe reports that Ryan has been arrested and predicts that Hope will have some explaining to do to Doug and Julie. Next, the bartender guy tries to take off with a box that had arrived that morning. Mrs. H yells to stop him, and Bo blocks the guy who drops the box trying to get past Bo and takes off. Trista is shocked to realize it is a box of her things.
In the morning, Marlena apologizes to Roman. She admits lately she is acting like a crazy person. She says she knows he is busy trying to catch Marie’s shooter, while she was having a meltdown over furniture not arriving for their first party. She observes it certainly wasn’t a dull one.
Roman laughs with the furniture arriving after the party started, the electricity going out, Hope’s date running out after being identified as a petty thief and ended up in jail, and the bartender stealing Trista’s stuff. Marlena wonders if everyone is still talking about it! She laughs and asks if he is trying to cheer her up? He takes her in his arms and tells her what a terrific hostess she is!
Bo comes into the PD to check if they have caught up with the bartender. They report no but they did bring in his friend Ronnie for dealing with stolen merchandise. Bo reports Trista telling them about her mother’s murder and asks if they are doing anything about the 18 year old murder case? Roman tells him they don’t have any new info as they don’t have a lot of time to dig into this cold case. Roman suggests that Bo has plenty of time as he isn’t working right now.
Bo says that he is teaching tennis classes for room and board. Roman snarks that he isn’t making any money and isn’t supporting himself. He demands Bo grow up but Bo points out he isn’t freeloading off of mom and dad as Roman asked. Roman reminds again that he still doesn’t have a job making any money.
Bo asks if Roman wants him to get a job like him? The last thing he would want to do is Roman’s job sitting in a stinking office. Roman tells him if he is determined to screw up his life to do it somewhere else. The brothers start yelling at each other and Abe interrupts asking Bo if he doesn’t have something else to do. As he leaves, Bo brags that he will find Trista’s mom’s killer and show them how it is done!
Hope sees Roman and Marlena at the health club and her friend asks who Roman is? Hope dreamily muses, “The only real man I know!” Bo comes in and tells Marlena that there is a surprise for them at their house. Roman is suspicious about what he is up to? Bo reports that it is a microwave, one that he bought and paid for.
Roman and Marlena go out and dance at Blondie’s. Marlena tempts Roman to go home for desert as she has fresh strawberries and whipped cream. As they are leaving, Julie confronts Roman about Doug being out looking all over Salem for a missing Hope, the insinuation is that he doesn’t care and isn’t doing enough to help. Marlena is surprised at her harshness, and Roman points out that Abe is working on her location.
Julie later arrives at Roman and Marlena’s, interrupting their “dessert”. She apologizes to Roman for behaving like an idiot. Marlena is in her nighty and Julie grins that this is what she meant when she said they were having desert. Abe calls Roman and Julie asks if there is any info on Hope? Abe reports no there is not.
Julie apologizes again to Roman for the things she said to him (perhaps she was worried about a missing Hope). Tom arrives asking if they found Hope, he saw Julie’s car there. He then comments that he sees they like strawberries and whipped cream too. The other three in unison say, “Too?” (the vision of Tom & Alice getting cozy in their minds, LOL).
Everyone leaves Roman and Marlena go back to what they were doing before they were interrupted as he continues kissing her and then carries her up to bed. Except Abe calls interrupting them again to tell them that he found Trista. Later, Marlena is commenting on how amazing he is. They laugh at the vision of Tom and Alice sitting in front of the fireplace feeding each other strawberries.
6/27 Bo is updating Roman and Shawn about his search, he believes she is still in Salem. Myra confirms that Hope was indeed in earlier applying for a job. They all wait anxiously for Francy to return with Hope's address. Creepy guy sets Hope up at the flop house she is staying at, having run away from home. Myra tells Roman, Shawn and Bo about the two creepy guys Hope was with. When Francy finally finds Hope's address, Bo grabs it and rushes out with Roman and Shawn right behind him.
Meanwhile, creepy guy ties Hope up to the bed and starts ripping off her top. She screams in terror. Bo arrives first, hears her screams and kicks in the door. He is furious when he sees the situation and takes on the guy with the knife. He unties Hope and gives her his leather jacket. Roman and Shawn soon arrive. Bo has one bad guy, and Shawn has stopped the other one (way to go Pop Brady!).
Afterwards back at the dinner, Shawn and Roman are ready to celebrate, they are so relieved to have found Hope. When Bo comes in, Shawn tells him how proud he is that he saved Hope. Roman also tells him that he did a heck of a good job. Shawn says that the three of them worked together and caught that sleezeball.
Roman tells Bo that he and Marlena would like to have Hope move in and babysit Carrie. They suggested the idea to Doug and Julie, would give some cool off time between Hope and Julie but ultimately it will be up to Hope. Bo jokes about a cushy job. Roman thinks what she has been through can change a person. Bo disagrees that it won’t change Hope Williams. She is wild, crazy, impulsive and she is definitely trouble! Shawn suggests it sounds like he is sweet on her.
6/28 - 7/1 Julie and Hope arrive with Hope’s things as she is moving into Roman and Marlena’s. Roman tells Julie not to worry. :4 mins After Roman leaves, Marlena talks with Hope and Julie (this scene reduced quality) and tries to help mediate their differences. They discuss that they both love Doug. Julie assures Hope that he will always be her dad. Melissa arrives (she just started on the show), and she confesses to Marlena that she lied for Hope. She says that she told Maggie and Mickey everything. Hope is sorry for ever asking Melissa to get involved. Melissa says she thought she was helping Hope but realizes now she could have been killed.
Later, Marlena stops by the PD and tells Roman that she loves having Hope around to help out with picking up Carrie, setting the table, ect. Roman makes time to give her a very passionate kiss and leaves her barely able to function as she stumbles out of his office.
:4 mins Marlena invites Liz to come over for lunch (the lunch scenes between Liz, Marie, and Julie is not included). Roman jokes that it is a good thing that they haven’t finished decorating as after this luncheon they may have to start all over. Hope has made breakfast and both Roman and Marlena rave about how well this arrangement is working out. Abe stops by and is hesitant about joining them for breakfast until Roman informs him that Hope was the cook. Abe tells Roman they are in trouble and Marlena takes Hope out of the room so they can talk privately about the case. Abe reports the lab didn’t come up with anything from the scarf.
As Roman leaves for the day, they share a very romantic series of loving kisses as Hope watches them. After Roman leaves, Marlena observes it is going to be a busy day. Later, Marlena calls Roman at work who is buried reviewing boring ledgers on a difficult case he is working on. She entices him to come home.
He comes home exhausted from working on a challenging case to find Marlena has set the table for a romantic candlelit dinner. Then he learns that Carrie is with Anna and Hope are over at Eugene and Trista’s planning the carnival. Roman is suddenly not tired anymore as he realizes they are home alone! He is very interested in the fancy dinner she made. As they kiss some more standing in front of her beautifully decorated table, he tells her that they better sit down as she makes him weak in the knees.
They sit, sip champagne and he tells her that she is the sexiest woman he knows. He declares that he is going to sit back, enjoy his feast, enjoy his wife and forget about all of the problems for awhile but they are interrupted with a ringing phone. She suggests he doesn’t answer it. He of course takes the call an then becomes very distracted when he returns to the table. She teases him that she added arsenic to the fettucine, but he doesn’t even notice her comment and tells her that it is good. She observes that he hasn’t heard a word she has said.
Roman is restless and while he is tired, he suggests they go out. Only one short scene of them at Blondie’s was included, and then they are back home alone (so these scenes are more edited and not complete). Marlena realizes that he suspects Liz of shooting Marie, as he asked her the other day if she thought Liz could be capable of being violent. He admits that he is sick to his stomach over this case and sometimes being a cop sucks. She offers to help if she can and he assures her that she does just by being her. She sits on the couch and he lays his head in her lap and she massages his temples, soothing him. He tells her, “I do love you Mrs. Brady!”
Pete is waiting for the social worker/probation department, and Marlena offers that he can wait with her. Roman returns and finds Marlena talking to Pete and takes her into his office. She admits that she invited him to the Crisis Center. He is upset as he doesn’t want her anywhere near him as he is dangerous. She tells him that it isn’t too late for Pete to turn his life around. He shares that Pete is involved with a very violent street gang that wouldn’t care if they hurt her or anyone else.
Marlena says that no one is helping these kids, not the courts and there isn’t any program for juvenile’s. She suggest that the Crisis Center can fill that gap and help these kids. He hates the idea as it is too damn dangerous. She says she can show him that he can be helped. Marlena refuses to turn her back on these kids, and she is a professional who knows how to handle these kids. He declares the point is she could get hurt and wants her to stay away from the hard cases.
She wants to know what those are as they all just look like troubled kids to her. He demands she hires a security guard but she says she can’t afford it and she doesn’t want it to look like a prison. He then demands she at least stay away from the Pete Jannings. She refuses and says that these kids are just plain scared and the center needs to be open to everyone, and they need to know someone cares about them.
She asks how can he be so understanding about Hope needing help, but not with Pete? He snorts that because Hope is just a little mixed up teen but has never done anything wrong, broken the law or hurt anyone else. Marlena declares that Hope is a wild, impulsive, hot headed teenager and if she doesn’t get guidance she could wind up breaking the law. Marlena just wants to get to these kids early.
Roman shares that he has seen what happens when a kid like Pete freaks out. Marlena reminds him that she can take care of herself. He knows these kids better than she does and it worries him sick how much time she is spending with them. She cries that he spends time with them and he is with hardened criminals all the time and she worries herself sick about him and his job. They wind up hugging each other.
7/4 The Fourth of July picnic is to raise money for the teen center. (Note: I only have about :6 mins of this in really good quality, but do have a poor quality copy of the entire episode on a separate dvd). Bo teases Roman by showing him his long stream of tickets for the kissing booth and he is going to use one of his tickets to kiss Marlena (Roman has already bought all of her tickets). The whole cast later sings, "You Are My Sunshine”.
Marlena and Doug talk at The Right Connection. He asks how everything is going at the Brady House? She says just fine. Doug reports there is still tension when they saw Hope but things are better. Marlena is hoping the summer of them being apart will help Julie and Hope mend their differences.
:4 mins Roman and Abe are investigating Marie’s shooting and searching purchase records to find out who purchased a scarf with a “C” on it. They are particularly interested in Chandler or DiMera purchasers. Doug shows up and suggests that it is possible that Liz is involved in Marie’s shooting as the scarf with a “C” was found at Marie’s. Abe tells Roman that he has found it and shows him an entry in a ledger. They quickly usher Doug out so they can follow the lead.
Bo shows up and tells her that Roman sent her over telling him that Marlena needed protection. Marlena assures Bo that Roman is over reacting and is wrong! Marlena suggests that Bo go back to Roman and tell him to back off. Hope approaches and asks if Roman and Marlena are fighting? She observes that she never sees them fight. He says it isn’t really a fight, more of a discussion about The Right Connection as Roman doesn’t think it is safe and wants someone there to protect her. Hope asks if Bo is there because he is interested in Marlena? He calls her a fruitcake and suggests that he doesn’t have anything better to do than hang around.
Pete Jannings comes in and Bo flips him off. He tells Hope and Jane that for once he thinks Roman was right, this guy looks like bad news. Marlena talks to Pete who is a major attitude as he is only there as his probation officer is forcing him to be there. Marlena notices Bo and asks if he is still there? He says he isn’t going anywhere.
Roman arrives and finds Pete and thanks Roman for sticking around there. Pete confronts Roman and asks if he is following him around. Then he suggests that Roman is there to see that lady shrink. Bo interrupts to warn Pete that is his wife! Pete wants to know how a dumb cop got so lucky? Bo heads over to grab him but Roman stops him and then Roman grabs him. He tells him that if he keeps talking like that, his luck is going to run out. Marlena comes in and Pete thanks her for the food and heads out.
Roman is concerned about her lack of protection and that is why he asked Bo to hang out is kids like Pete Jannings. Marlena reports she doesn’t feel at risk at all. Roman warns her these street gangs have very short fuses. She doesn’t want anyone hanging around that is going to discourage these kids from getting the help he needs. He doesn’t want Bo making these kids feel watched, she is sure she can help Pete. He warns her that they aren’t through talking about this.
Roman comes home discouraged after a difficult day on the job. Marlena is seeing a patient and late getting home, and Carrie is with Anna. He is upset as a cop was shot during a robbery and is critical. He suggests they go out to grab some dinner, but she surprises him and tells him she made dinner. She saw the chicken had been taken out and figured Marlena would be tired by the time she got home (their dinner together is not included).
In the morning, Roman has to get into work after receiving a phone call. Marlena wants to talk but Roman says he isn’t going to change his mind. They argue again about him sending Bo and he snaps at her. He quickly apologises that his morning has already begun. She figures it was news with the phone call. He apologizes again and Marlena accepts that he is concerned. He worries she isn’t taking the threat seriously enough and walks her out and kisses her goodbye.
:14 mins After she leaves, Hope says that she knows he is worried about Marlena. Hope reassures him with Bo hanging out, though Roman still warns her they all need to be careful. She romanticises being a cop and he tells her that sometimes the job can be really rotten.
Roman shows up at Liz’s and is surprised to find Neil there. Roman is reluctant but finally tells them that he is there to arrest Liz on suspicion of shooting Marie. Neil is furious as Roman has to read her rights.
Marlena talks to a group of teens during a group session and reads a postcard from a teen that returned home. Hope observes that these sessions really helped Lenny. Marlena introduces Pete to Melissa.
Don comes into the PD and argues with Roman that he can’t be serious about arresting Liz. Roman has no choice and tells Liz he will get taken off this case as soon as he can due to personal involvement. He assures Liz, he would like nothing more than to be able to clear her. Roman has returned home and is worn out and discouraged. Hope offers to serve him dinner, but he says no that Marlena would kill him and he will wait till she gets home.
Marlena returns home and sees his mood and he promises to tell her after dinner. He shares that he had a difficult day at work, and that he and Abe know who shot Marie. Marlena knows he is worried about Liz. Roman tells her that Liz was the shooter and she signed a statement a few hours ago declaring it was an accidental shooting. He sighs and takes Marlena in his arms and holds her tight. He tells her about the look in Liz’s eyes when he had to arrest her, she looks almost dead. Marlena reassures him that he is just doing his job. He tells her sometimes he hates being a job.
Hope comes in bringing coffee and tells him she can’t believe he is talking about leaving the force. She tells him not to do that as Salem needs him as a cop. After Hope leaves, Roman tells Marlena that she has done a great job with that kid. He discusses Liz’s case with Marlena when she asked if she believes it was accidental.
After Pete’s probation officer calls Marlena, they have a big argument and Hope smiles in her room as she stares at a newspaper article of hero Roman and smiles dreamily, the beginning of her crush on him. Roman continues to yell that he will do everything he can to protect her (Hope can hear them arguing and smiles to herself at this continued discord). Roman then declares that he MUST make love to her and sweeps her up into his arms for a dramatic passionate kiss!
The next morning, she smiles as she observes they make up very well. But Roman points out that they haven’t resolved the issue. He doesn’t want her spending time with gang members. She points out that Pete is a good kid. Roman agrees, sure he just likes pulling knives on people. She tells her that the kid enjoys hurting people and what if he picks her as his next victim. Marlena pauses as she reads that the DA is expected to announce charges against Liz that morning. Marlena asks if they could talk to them as friends now? He says yes as he is now off the case.
Neil and Liz visit with Roman and Marlena. They all lament that the DA is going after premeditated first degree murder. Liz insists it was an accident and she certainly didn’t plan on shooting Marie. Liz asks Marlena to help Neil with Noelle if this doesn’t turn out well for Liz.
Bo is less than happy to run into Hope and Roman having a burger together while Marlena is working. Roman heads out leaving Bo to take Hope home.
In the morning, Marlena asks if Roman is thinking about Liz’s trial. They discuss her testimony yesterday (not shown). He also points out an article about a gang attack on an elderly couple. They argue again as she knows he is talking about Pete. He points out Pete could have been one of the gang members.
:3 mins Reduced quality Hope, Marlena and Roman have breakfast together. Hope tells them about Carrie making a jelly and potato chip sandwich. Hope says she made her a peanut butter and mustard sandwich which Marlena reports is her favourite. Marlena asks Hope to bring Carrie by the hospital after school so she can see Anna. Hope raves that she is a hero for practically saving Tony’s life.
When Hope takes the dishes into the kitchen, Roman tries to make peace and understand Marlena. He tells her that she is his wife and if he could, he would lock her inside the house every day to keep her safe. She promises that she will be careful and he tells her he loves her and the kissing begins but the doorbell interrupts the morning make up smooching.
Bo arrives bearing a bag from Caroline, it is a dress for Carrie that she has made. Bo joins Roman for breakfast while Marlena goes upstairs to change for work. Roman asks what Bo is doing up so early, Bo is very mysterious but promises that it is legal. While Roman is out of the room, Bo asks Marlena when she comes down if she had seen the article?
Roman arrives to drop Marlena off at work and he is disturbed to hear that Pete is waiting for her. When he doesn’t over-react, she notices and he declares he is trying to live with it. He overhears as Bo takes a call for “Detective Brady” at the Right Connection. Bo is working for Howie as a PI on Trista’s mom’s cold murder case. Later, Marlena tells Roman that she talked to Pete and he is just full of bluster but just a scared kid.
Bo sits on the couch and asks Marlena what is going on? Marlena tells Bo about a patient that tried to commit suicide today and sadly says that Roman isn’t coming home for dinner. Bo invites her out. At dinner, she tells him that they have been arguing a lot about Pete Jannings (sound warbles during this scene). She knows that Roman is worried about street gangs being dangerous.
She understands as she worries about the danger involved in Roman’s job. Bo observes that he must have done something right to get her to marry him! She asks how long the animosity goes back? She guesses when Roman became head of the family after Shawn was injured. Bo admits that Roman was always the golden boy and did a pretty good job of holding the family together but Bo wasn’t as impressed as everyone else.
Marlena comments that perhaps Roman and Hope will be home by the time they get there. Bo tells her that he doesn’t need to be set up with anyone. She takes a raincheck on his offer for a movie as she is eager to get home. He sees how crazy she is about Roman, he laughs that she can’t keep her mitts off of him. She asks him if he has ever been in love? He says no, he isn’t willing to take that risk.
She says she thought he would take any risk once. He asks her if she is daring him to fall in love? He knows happily married people like to set everyone else up to share the misery. He goes on that he isn’t the white picket fence type. He likes adventure, freedom, action. He asks if she has been talking to Hope? She says no, but she knows Bo pretty well. She finds it interesting that he has been talking to Hope about freedom and smiles softly.
Hope returns home and finds a lamp broken, a table over turned, and a window broken and she thinks someone has broken in and calls Roman. He returns home, panicked that something has happened to Marlena, he has been worried about the gang involvement and her getting her hurt.
When Bo and Marlena arrive home, Roman gives Marlena a huge hug of relief to see her! Hope tells her that when she came home and found the house ransacked, she thought something had happened to her and she called Roman. Bo explains that Marlena dropped the lamp, and Bo turned the table over to try to fix the leg. The window is broken and Bo says probably kids playing baseball.
Roman complains that they took Bo’s car, which worried Roman that Marlena’s car was there without her. Bo had told her he was going to call Roman but he is sorry that he forgot. The kids were bouncing the ball against the house and he went out to chase them away. By the time he came back in, Marlena was ready and he simply forgot. Roman loses his temper and starts yelling at Bo about how irresponsible he is and when is he going to grow up.
Finally, Bo has enough and yells back and accuses Roman for never getting over their Pop getting hurt when he came to rescue Bo when he was playing in a dangerous area he wasn't supposed to be in, and then Roman mentions something about when Bo was 16 and Bo freezes and very determinedly tells Roman NOT to bring that up (leaving the viewer to wonder what that particular secret is all about).
Scene cuts into Bo telling how he played on the docks when he was 10 years old, though he wasn’t supposed to. Bo got his foot trapped while playing. When Shawn rescued him, the boards gave way and he fell about 30 feet and was laid up for a year from the injury. Roman had to take over but Bo didn’t help, and wouldn’t listen to anybody. It gets heated as Roman yells that he doesn’t know the meaning on responsibility! Bo gets upset and starts yelling at Roman for always having his big nose in his business and storms out.
Bo comes into Shenanigans and tells Roman and Abe that he is going to Florida to work on the case. They both seem a bit amused and don't really take him being a Private Eye seriously. Hope enters wearing the new off the shoulder dressdress, and Abe comments to Roman that she seems a bit over-dressed. Roman says he thinks she is trying to impress someone, and they both figure it is Bo.
:10 mins Reduced quality. Roman surprises Marlena at her office when he stops by to say hello. She asks if there is any news on Liz? He says no, the verdict hasn’t come in yet. She knows how hard this case has been on him. Meanwhile, Pete has arrived and is waiting outside for Marlena as Hope is volunteering as her receptionist. Hope goes in to tell Marlena that her patient is there. Pete wants to know why that cop Brady is there. Pete notices how Hope looks at Roman.
Roman thinks that is why Marlena is jumpy this morning as Pete is there. Hope interrupts with a call from Abe. He tells Roman that Liz has been sentenced and Roman comments that is tough. When he hangs up, he tells Marlena that Liz got five years. Marlena can’t believe Liz is going to jail and cries in Roman’s arms. After Roman leaves, Marlena brings Pete in for his session. He questions what she sees in that clown cop Roman Brady. Roman returns after Pete’s session is over and Eugene wants to talk to both of them about Trista.
Roman and Marlena stop by to see Liz and Neil to tell her how sorry they are to hear about the sentence. Roman confides that she will never know how much he and Abe hated working on that case once they started suspecting her. Liz is grateful to him for rescuing her from Stefano and says she might not even be alive if not for him. She tells him about Tom talking to the judge on her behalf. Marlena encourages her to remember how much she has to come to, such as that beautiful baby girl.
Bo comes into the PD after his return from Florida and tells Roman and Abe about a picture of Trista’s mother leading him to Palm Beach. Roman appreciates his help in trying to figure out who killed her. They discuss Trista going through hypnosis to try to remember anything. Bo cockily says he has a good feeling they are going to solve this case as Abe laughs. Abe tells him that he never lacks for confidence, and Roman chimes in, “Nor humility”. Bo says that maybe if they can find the boyfriend in the picture that maybe he will have additional info. Roman observes that finding a guy from a 20 year old picture isn’t going to be easy.
Bo tells Roman that he believes Trista is in danger and needs to be with someone at all times. He suggests that Trista will stay at Roman’s for a couple of days, and then the Horton’s and keep moving around.
Marlena calls that she is working late. Next Julie invites Hope to join them for dinner at the club. Hope asks if she can bring a friend? Julie says of course. Hope continues that Carrie is at the Horton’s and Marlena is working tonight, and her and Roman were just going to grab a burger. Bo is annoyed at her continued hero worship of Roman and heads out.
Hope tells Roman that Julie has offered them dinner at the club. They go to dinner at the club, and she is wearing her new black dress. Bo comes in and sighs at Hope’s bid for attention from Roman. Julie understands his frustration and tells Bo that Hope is just too much sometimes, that she likes lots of attention. Bo tells her that he is worried Hope will get into trouble but she won't listen to him. Julie agrees that she thinks Hope has a crush on Roman and he agrees.
Tony and Marlena talk at the hospital, he asks her if life is always so painful? She comforts that losing a child is one of the most painful experiences in life.
Marlena suggests that her and Roman need time together away from his job, her job, the Crisis Center. She worries that they are arguing too much and they need to get away for a couple of days to reconnect. She suggests that this could be a second honeymoon.
Bo calls interrupting them and tells Roman that he is at Trista’s and they have the murderer, Barbara Talmadge. She felt that Trista’s mother was stealing her lover Alex Marshall away from her.
:5 mins Over at Trista’s, Marlena comforts Trista and worries about Eugene who has been shot. Roman oversees Barbara’s arrest and they recap all of the action for Roman and Marlena. Roman tells Bo how proud he is of him.
The next day, Marlena reports to Alice, Hope, and Anna that Alex is being questioned about the woman who murdered Trista’s mother but he was not directly involved in her death. Hope is astonished that Bo solved the case! Mrs. H defends him, “Now don’t you sell Bo Brady short! He is a very special young man.”
Roman arrives at the hospital and shows Marlena that he has a present for her. He has booked a cabin and shows her the reservation. She agrees that just the two of them in the wild together sounds good! Roman and Marlena tell Hope that they are going to take a little trip to the lake and so Hope can spend a few days at home. Hope seems less than thrilled at the prospect of returning to her parent’s even for a few days.
Marlena gives Roman a fishing pole and tells him that she loves him so much! He loves his brand new “Ugly Stick”! When she looks disappointed that he doesn’t like it, he says that is the name of the fishing pole she bought him! She admits that his dad told her which one to get him. He says that he has wanted this one since it came out. She laughs that his dad already has asked to borrow it.
Roman tells Marlena that Doug wanted an update about Hope and he reported that she hasn’t given them any trouble since she has been there. Marlena muses that they will have to find a new sitter when Hope goes back to school. Roman smiles naughtily and asks if she can hire someone just as nice as Hope. She laughs that he means good looking and promises the next sitter will be a bit older and a bit plumper than Hope as Marlena is no dummy. She will not be having any more sexy young things around him and they start smooching.
Marlena calls Hope into their room and she tells them that their plans just changed. She has to be in court to testify tomorrow afternoon so she can’t leave for the fishing cabin in the morning. Marlena suggests that he go by himself in the morning, he can enjoy the fishing, and she will join him later by 5:00. In time for them to have dinner and take a nice slow walk around the lake as the sun goes down.
Marlena returns home before going to court, and lets Jane know her planes to head up to the mountains after her court appearance. Next thing, Marlena is at the Crisis Center trying to appeal to Jane who has locked herself in a room. She stalls for time as she looks at her watch and reads a book and she finally comes out.
Hope then follows Roman up to the fishing cabin in the mountains to bring him his fishing pool. A grateful Roman offers to make her a sandwich before she heads home. Roman feels it is about to rain and encourages Hope to be on her way but she stalls. He calls her on it and reminds her that she has a 90 minute drive ahead of her. She isn’t eager to go home as she will be going back to her parent’s and her and Roman won’t be living together anymore. She asks him if he meant that he doesn’t think of her as a kid and that he will really miss her.
A puzzled clueless Roman says of course they will miss her (having NO idea where this is going). She says that she will miss him too, the first man who has been her life, the kind of man every woman wants. Reality is beginning to dawn and he carefully asks her what she is getting at here as he puts some distance between them. She tells him that he is the kind of man she wants, that makes her feel like a woman. She says she doesn’t know if they will ever have a future together… he interrupts questioning, “Future?”
She says she knows that he cares for her. And now he has his clue as he tries to stop her, “Hope…” She asks him if he could ever love her, if he would ever make love to her. He looks horrified at the situation he is now in but sympathetic. As soon as the words are out of her mouth, she can’t believe she just blurted that out and apologizes but it is all she really wants. He takes her over to sit down as they have to have a little talk. She thinks he hates her now. He tells her of course not, but he has a wife that he loves very much and he could never make love to anyone else.
Hope laments that she knows the first time is so special and she wants it to be him. Roman stammers a bit as he tells her that she shouldn’t give up her virginity just because she thinks she is ready to become a woman. She says that isn’t it, the way he touches her is so special, and when he looks at her and they laugh together. He tells her that isn’t reason enough to go to bed with someone. He tells her maturity has nothing to do with how old someone is, and being a woman doesn’t have anything to do with having gone to bed with someone.
He asks her if she really thought he would? She cries that she needs to feel loved, to be loved. He assures her that she will be with someone who can return that love. He tells her that sleeping with someone is a commitment, one he doesn’t think she is ready to handle. She wants someone to love her and open up that whole world for her, not just a friend, even a special friend. He tells her that some day she will really be in love with someone, not just infatuated and she would hate him if he had robbed that special moment from her. He has nothing to give her in return.
She cries that she has made a fool of herself and begs him not to tell anyone, especially not Julie. He says nothing happened. He tells her to get going before the weather gets any worse as sounds of the storm beginning. At the door, he tells her that he hopes she understands what he was trying to tell her. He hopes she will talk to someone.
Roman goes to a pay phone to call Marlena. She is getting ready to leave. He tells her that it is pouring down rain and he thinks that she should wait till the morning to come up to join him.
Roman comes upon Hope who has had car trouble and is stranded. He takes her back to the cabin. She worries that he will hate her now. He indulgently tells her that someday she will find someone very special and she will look back on this and wonder what she ever saw in Roman. Hope tells him she will always love him, she then kisses him just as Marlena and Bo come in the door.
Bo sees them together and he hits Roman. Hope takes off into the dark, rainy night. Roman asks Bo to go after her, he refuses and Marlena asks him to do it for her. Marlena is furious as Roman insists that nothing was going on. She confronts that he didn’t tell her Hope was here when he called. He explains that she wasn’t there then. She continues that Hope was wearing his shirt and they were kissing. He tells her that Hope’s clothes were soaking wet and he was not kissing her! He insists there was nothing to that.
He explains that Hope thinks she is in love with him, she is a girl trying to be a woman, but felt like a fool when he rejected her. She kissed him when he was comforting her. He asks her if she understands it? Marlena is trying to. Roman says that Hope is feeling very embarrassed. Marlena cries that she is feeling very hurt and he takes her into his arms and tells her how much he loves her. He brings Hope in as she has some talking to do.
Hope explains that Jane forgot to pack Roman's fishing pole so Hope offered to drive up and bring it to him. Marlena wants to know if her parents wanted her to come home because Hope had a crush on Roman? Hope says no that it was because her dad needed her help. Bo clarifies that Julie realized Hope had a crush and she wanted her back home. Hope figures they are going to tell Julie and she will hate her now. They tell her that no they won’t be telling Julie but she will and Hope shakily agrees. Marlena wants to know how long this has been going on? Hope admits all summer.
Bo wants to know what made her pull this little stunt tonight? Hope says she doesn’t know, when Roman told her he didn’t return her feelings she felt like such a fool. When he was holding her while she was crying and he was so sweet, that she just had to kiss him. She hopes Marlena can forgive her and she immediately agrees though she doesn't look too happy. As Bo and Hope are leaving, Bo apologizes to Roman for hitting him. Hope tells Marlena once again how sorry she is and Roman closes the door behind them and a somber Marlena turns back towards the fire.
