Roman & Marlena #6 August 12 - December 6, 1983: 12 hour original edit

DVD #6A After Bo & Hope have left the Fishing Shack, Marlena shakily asks him what would have happened if she hadn’t arrived when she did. He tells her he was not kissing Hope and asks if she really thinks something would have happened. Marlena admits that she is feeling very jealous, angry and betrayed. She is thinking to all the nights that Roman and Hope were alone at the house while she was working. He tells her that nothing could ever happen between him and Hope, or him and anyone else.

He tells her that he loves HER and he is HER husband and there is no one else on earth that he wants to make love with. She cries why didn’t he tell her that Hope was there. He tells her that Hope had already left by the time he called her, but then Hope’s car broke down. He wants to to take a good look at what she is suggesting, that he would be unfaithful to her. She admits to being very afraid of losing him. He holds her tight, reassuring her. Marlena suggests that she go home as she is worried about Jane, about Hope. He doesn’t want to stay up there without her, and offers to take her home in the morning. Marlena sees the scrapbook that Hope created of all of Roman’s hero newspaper clippings. Marlena tells him that Hope loves him and questions how did they not see this happening.

Marlena admits to continuing to have an irrational fear about losing him to another woman. Roman sympathizes that if he found her in another man’s arms that he would go a little crazy himself. Marlena says she should be concerned about Hope but says they will have to call Doug and Julie. She laments that it seemed like such a good idea to have Hope stay with them for the summer.

Doug and Julie arrive the next day and tell them that Hope won’t come out of her room this morning, that she is so embarrassed for coming onto Roman. Marlena is furious with herself, that she feels like she let Hope down by not seeing what was happening and saving Hope the hurt. Roman tells her it wasn’t her fault, that he should have seen what was going on. Julie declares she did see it happening and tried to put a stop to it. Marlena says that no real harm was done except to Hope. They just have to try to make her understand that all young girls have infatuation. Julie is just glad that it happened with a nice guy like Roman, as some men would have taken her up on her offer. Marlena admits to feeling jealous. Doug laughs that Julie would have pulled out a six shooter. Marlena tells them no more apologies, it happened and now time to move forward.

Roman makes Marlena a romantic candlelit dinner with smoked salmon and champagne. Concerned he asks her if she still doubts him? She says that she doesn’t trust her feelings anymore. She admits that she is feeling a little insecure, when she saw him with Hope at first she thought she had lost him and that she stopped believing in them for a second. She feels they are losing each other and he looks worried at that response as he is obviously not feeling like that at all. He tells her how much he loves her and kisses her sweetly. He brings her over to the table and pours her champagne.

Later that night, Marlena shares that this is bringing back her past with Don. She is relieving when he told her that he slept with someone else and that gut punch. She hated Don for making her feel insecure, for making her doubt herself as a woman, and for making her feel wrong for ever trusting him. Roman points out that in that case, she had every right in that case but now she is angry at herself for drudging up all those emotions because of the actions of a 17 year old kid. She asks him to forgive her. He says that yes he forgives her for blowing this whole thing out of proportion. He tells her that he loves her very much and will always be true to her, no matter how sexy and voluptuous their next baby sitter is. She thanks him for being so wise, kind, patient, and the best husband a girl could ask for. She suggests they go out and celebrate the wonder of “us”.

They run into Bo down on the docks making time with a married lady. Roman warns him that her husband could be the size of king kong. Bo snarks that Roman isn’t really in a position to lecture him, as he didn’t look very married the other night. Roman lunges towards him but Marlena stands in front of Bo. Roman yells at Bo that maybe he would have taken advantage of Hope in that situation, but Roman never would have. Marlena suggests that Hope needs to be around people of her own age. She asks Bo to help by taking Hope out. Bo doesn’t think that is such a good idea and Roman agrees it is not.

Bo joins Melissa and Hope on the pier and they tell him that Jane set up the Roman and Hope situation. She deliberately didn't pack his fishing pole to give Hope an excuse to drive up there. Then she faked a suicide attempt to keep Marlena in the city, leaving Hope alone with Roman. Hope is really disturbed by this and worries that everyone will think that Hope planned this all. The threesome go to Roman and Marlena and tell her about Jane's confession. Hope is relieved that they believe she didn't have anything to do with this plot. Marlena praises Bo's instincts, he is the only one that suspected Jane's suicide attempt wasn't valid.

Roman and Marlena lounge in bed together in the morning, and he is very relieved she is “over it”. She asks him if he has to rush off as she kisses him softly. She suggests breakfast in bed. He starts kissing her and says they can skip breakfast. Eugene calls interrupting them and Roman wants to know where he has been, he has had every cop in the city looking for him!

9/1 Roman and Marlena arrive at the lodge for an early dinner. A very well dressed valet shows up bearing fancy invitations on a silver platter for a black tie party at the DiMera mansion that very night, that promises the "Announcement Of The Year”!

Renee finally makes her entrance looking very glamourous. She tells the assembled crowd that if they knew the party was for her and Alex, nobody would have shown up! She then makes the "Announcement Of The Year" She and Alex Marshall are not only engaged, but married! She then turns to Alex and snarls that he is "scum" does not want him near her!

9/2 At the party, Renee produces Stefano's last hand-written will, which states that the DiMera empire is all hers. She then warns Alex that she will get their short marriage annulled so Alex cannot get his hands on her father's money. After some kind words to Marlena and Chris, Renee calls out the citizens of Salem one by one whom she felt had looked down on her and made her life miserable. She announces that Tony is her one true love.   A hysterical Delia stands at the bottom of the stairs with blood on her hands, screaming "Murder! Murder!"

9/5 Dr. Horton and Marlena try to calm down a hysterical Delia. Renee is found murdered upstairs from the party. Roman rushes upstairs to investigate and Bo is right behind him. Roman sees Renee lying on the floor dead, stabbed in the back with a Raven feather in her hand. Roman takes charge, and Bo follows his orders. Roman tells Bo she was stabbed to death. Roman then orders everyone to stay in the living room. He then comes down the stairs to announce to the other guests that Renee was murdered. Abe and officers arrive to seal off the house and search the grounds for the killer. Abe and Roman quickly figure out that there was no sign of a struggle and that Renee knew her attacker. A devastated Tony cries over the corpse, and tells Roman that he suspects Alex Marshall is the killer. Sleazy, headline-grabbing D.A. Larry Welch tells Roman that his office must be kept in the loop on the murder investigation.

Roman and Abe question Alex about his marriage to Renee and the sudden appearance of the second will. The cops find the murder weapon, a kitchen butcher knife. Roman asks Tony about his relationship with Renee and Tony again tells him he suspects Alex of killing Renee. Later, Joan from Salem PD overhears Hope telling Melissa that David ran out of the house earlier that day with a knife in his hand and tells Roman about the conversation. Roman questions Hope over this. Julie overhears that they are putting out an APB on David. In order to protect David, Julie confesses to the murder and is arrested. Larry is all too eager to press charges.

9/6 Reduced quality but is very watchable. Roman questions Julie and Doug about David's behavior when they last saw him? Julie wants to know if Roman is accusing David of this murder? Abe says it doesn't look good for him. She does admit he was upset about his divorce from Renee. Roman wants to know if David made any threats against Renee? Roman asks Hope to repeat what she told him earlier. She reports that David ran out with a knife and he was very upset, Julie withheld that bit of information. Roman puts out an APB on David Banning. A reluctant Bo is manhandled into a room so Roman can talk to him. Bo asks Roman if he is now a suspect? Roman says no but thinks maybe he did do it? Bo claims he doesn’t know anything. He asks him again if he has any clue who would have been angry enough to kill Renee. When Bo says no, Roman yells at him for withholding information about the killer constitutes obstruction of justice! (Next scene between Roman & Bo is very poor quality, then gets better). Julie confesses to killing Renee in order to protect her son David's life. Julie is taken away in handcuffs as she is arrested.

9/7 Roman and Abe discuss the case at the PD. Marlena arrives bearing food for them and gives Roman a huge hug. New DA Larry Welch walks in and makes a comment about Julie being a friend of Roman’s. Marlena asks to be able to see Julie. Larry questions whether Julie is capable of murder. Marlena observes anyone could be pushed to the breaking point, even Larry. She continues that as Julie’s friend that no she does not think she is capable of murder.

:2 mins Next section reduced quality: Julie rushes into Doug’s arms as Mickey, Don, and Roman meet in his office. Julie rushes to proclaim her guilt as Mickey tries to stop her confession.

Later, Roman tells Marlena that Julie had motive and opportunity. Marlena is allowed in to see Julie and gives her a big hug. Julie asks her to look after Doug. Marlena then sees Sandy and asks how Chris is doing? She reports that he stayed at her house all night, on the couch. Sandy just didn’t want to be alone all night in the cottage. Pete appears in her office doorway, full of swagger. He is amused that murder has hit her snobbish circle of friends and starts laughing maniacally.

:2 mins Julie is ready to sign the confession but Mickey stops her telling her that he doesn’t believe Julie did it. Roman observes that once the lab results are back, they will know a lot more about what the truth is. Julie grabs a pen and signs as Mickey groans why won’t she listen to him.

9/8 - 9/9 Reduced quality but very watchable. Roman and Abe run into Gwen when they are there to question Alex. He indignantly demand to know why since the murderer confessed. Anna arrives at Alex’s office as they are still questioning him. She says she is there to seek Alex’s advice since she is still a suspect. Roman apologizes to her, and Abe encourages her to get a good lawyer. Don goes with Anna as she is questioned by Abe and Roman. She gets upset and wants her name off of the list of suspects, after all Julie Williams has already confessed. Don suggests she just cooperate. Anna beaches Roman that he knows her and knows she wouldn’t kill anyone. He tells her is personal feelings don’t come into this, he is just a cop doing his job.

:3 mins Reduced: Abe and Roman need to talk to David as they realize that Julie is covering for him and he has a pretty good alibi. But they don’t like how many details that she knew about the murder. Roman becomes somber, lost in thought as he worries about life being dangerous especially for his stubborn wife. Abe knows this is about her refusing security at The Right Connection as she doesn’t want to scare the kids away. Roman gets a call that David is custody and is on a flight arriving in Salem in the morning. He calls David to pass along the information and tells him how sorry he is for all of this.

Good Quality. Marlena questions Pete about his laughing reaction to Renee’s murder, as he said she deserved it. Marlena wants to know why he thought she deserved to die? She comments that he has never said anything positive about a woman and he makes a suggestive remark to her. She asks why he is so afraid of women? Marlena goes to see Don. We see a short clip of Maggie and Mickey’s wedding with Marlena in attendance and then it jumps to Marlena telling Eugene and Trista that Maggie didn’t go through with her wedding to Mickey. (note wedding not included). Outside of Shenanigan’s, Marlena is grabbed from behind and held with a knife to her throat.

9/12-9/19 Quality varies as merged several sources. Most fairly good, some is reduced. Marlena turns around and finds it is Pete holding a knife! He tells her that he could have cut her to ribbons. She tells him that she knows he doesn’t want to hurt her and asks him why he would do this. He is trying to prove a point as she left herself wide open and claims he is her guardian angel. Bo comes along demanding to know what is going on here and he and Pete started fighting. Pete threatens Bo that now he will have to answer to the Vipers. Marlena tells Bo that he wasn’t going to hurt her. Pete says that the Vipers will come for Bo and it will be over for him. After Pete walks away, Marlena tells Bo that Pete was just trying to scare him. He holds her as she shakes in his arm. They go back into Shenanigan’s, and Bo tells Danny that she had a little problem outside. Sandy approaches their table and Marlena asks her for advice and tells her that her patient Pete Jannings pulled a knife, just as Danny approaches their table and overhears. Marlena continues to confide in Sandy that she feels she is making progress with Pete, that is her patient. Roman calls Marlena and tells her that he is on his way to Shenanigan’s as he is starving. Marlena tells Danny that Pete had no intention of hurting her tonight, he just scared her. Bo tells Marlena that he will stay at the restaurant until Roman arrives.

:2 mins Roman is on his way out and Tony arrives demanding answers. He wants to know when Renee’s body will be released. Roman says they have to wait for the autopsy as they don’t even know yet exactly what killed her. Tony snarks she was murdered with a knife in her back! He dejectedly walks out. Roman worries that Tony might try to get his own vengeance and find the killer himself. Abe observes he is acting irrationally. Roman says that Tony is the least of their suspects if they believe his change of heart towards Renee. Roman seems to believe it commenting on how he has never seen anyone so distraught over a death.

Roman arrives and Marlena asks him if they can go home as she had a rough day. Roman tells them that Tony doesn’t feel that Julie shot Renee. Roman asks her if something is wrong because she wants to go home, she says she will tell him at home. Once they are home, Marlena offers that she will make him a wonderful dinner and tell him about her day. He is eating dinner in bed on a tray (shirtless), and he teases her about the leftovers. He asks her to tell him why she is feeling so low. She tells him it wasn’t a major deal but she had a confrontation with a client. She continues that Bo came along and he misunderstood and there was a fight. Roman understands that the only reason she is telling him is she figures Bo will. She gets into bed next to him and tells him she doesn’t want to talk about Pete, or Maggie & Mickey’s problems, or Trista & Eugene’s wedding, she just wants to be with him. He starts kissing her and says he likes the sound of that as he holds her tenderly continuing to kiss her. Later, he continues to console and comfort her. She declares she hates when the outside world invades their privacy. He recognizes how tired she is, and continues to hold her and kiss her. When she is cold, he gets up to close the window and freezes that he hears something outside her window. We see Pete loitering around the corner of the house.

:13 mins David has arrived at the PD and he can’t believe his mother has been arrested. Doug demands he doesn’t say anything without an attorney and David accuses that Doug thinks he does it. David insists that he is innocent and doesn’t need an attorney. Roman tells him that he does as this is serious. Roman takes him into his office and David is happy to cooperate as he has nothing to hide and he wants to get his mother out of jail. He explains why he went to New York. David demands to know what evidence they have against him. Roman tells him that he was seen leaving the inn the night of her murder, threatening to kill her! He swears he didn’t go through with it. Don arrives and tries to stop David from talking but he continues to spill the details of his exact movements. Don continues to try to stop him as he insists that he didn’t kill her and he wants this cleared up now and refuses to listen to Don. Roman tells him he will have to prove that he didn’t kill Renee. He was seen getting a beer near the DiMera house. Then he hitchhiked with a trucker who was headed to Chicago.

They bring the trucker in, as he was waiting outside. David questions him and they are able to narrow down the time he picked him up which clears him of the murder. The case against Julie is resolved and David is acknowledge to not be the murder. After Julie is ready to revise her statement, Roman reads her the riot act. He warns her that she knew too many details of the murder, she admits they were lucky guesses. He continues that she had motive and no alibi. Roman sternly tells her that she wasted a lot of the department’s time finding the real killer who is out on the streets still and could kill again. There are penalties for giving false information which includes up to a year in prison! Doug exclaims that Roman can’t send Julie to the SLAMMER! Roman gets the toxocology back on Renee and finds that she was drugged with an exotic poison which is what killed her, not the stab wound. They also find that she was holding a raven’s feather in her hand. Roman wonders how she got a hold of a Raven’s feather. This is the first killing by this type of poison anywhere in the United States.

9/20-9/28 Good Quality. At the Connection, Trista is telling Marlena how worried that she and Eugene are about Marlena’s contact with Pete. Pete arrives for his appointment and is snarky and demanding. Trista wants Marlena to tell Roman about Pete holding the knife on her. She realizes he wants Roman to know about the knife. He tells her that if Roman knows he is looking out after her, maybe he won’t be so hard on him. She is surprised and asks about the Vipers going after Bo, and he tells her that the Vipers won’t let this go. He is surprised that he could tell her about the planned attack but she won’t tell Bo. She says it is client confidentiality, and realizes he doesn’t have anyone he can trust.

Roman tells Marlena he had a frustrating day at work, when he arrives to pick her up. He tells her that Carrie is having dinner with Mrs. H and they are alone together for dinner. He suggests Shenanigan’s as he feels like being around people for awhile, and maybe afterwards that they can take a nice long way. She tells him that she had a successful session with Pete and feels she is making progress. They run into Pete at Shenanigan’s and is snarky as usual to Roman, and he laughs that yeah he has come a long way.

:20 mins. Reduced Quality. Everyone is standing around outside as Kelly’s body has been found and the crime scene tape is up. Neil is there and gives his opinion that he doesn’t think the wound caused her death. Danny reports that Kelly hated Alex. Trista runs up and tells Roman there is something she has to tell him. She says that Kelly didn’t want Pete in Shenanigan’s and he threatened to mess up her face. Roman is shown the black Raven’s feather found in Kelly’s hand. Abe wonders what the hell they are dealing with?

Back at the PD, Abe and Roman are busy working the case. They are still waiting for a trace on the type of poison. Abe complains about how complicated this case is. Larry saunters in and demands a suspect that he can convict. Roman tells him they first had to get him hard evidence. Larry can’t believe there aren’t any witnesses in such a public place. Roman reviews the alibis of their suspects eliminating them for Kelly’s murder. Larry wants to know what about Pete Jannings? He thinks this case will be headline making news. Two of the Vipers are brought in for questioning. They try to cover for Pete and say he was with them riding around the lake. Roman asks if they were at Shenanigan’s and they say no. He tells them well Pete was and Roman saw him there so he couldn’t have been with them. They say he showed up later but this doesn’t help Pete with his alibi. Eddie, the Viper reports that he can tell his wife that they don’t like Marlena messing with Pete’s head. Roman grabs him and yells at him that if they are covering for Pete that they are all in a hell of a lot of trouble.

Pete comes in next with a public defender. Roman questions him about his conversation with Kelly. He hit on her and she turned him down and he was angry. Pete yells that he never said he was going to kill her. He may have told her he would mess up her face. Pete figures that the witness is Trista or Eugene. When they ask Pete about the knife, he asks if Marlena has been telling them about his sessions? Abe tells him no she doesn’t share confidential information. Pete makes snide remarks to Roman about his time with Marlena. Roman warns him that he would love nothing more than to get Pete’s probation revoked. Larry wants Roman to try to get information from Marlena about Pete and she could get into a lot of trouble if she withholds information about a murder case. Roman quickly shows him the door.

Next Roman questions Alex with Gwen there as his attorney. He asks him about his relationship with Kelly, his employee. He tells her that she was a good nurse. Abe asks him if he knew she became a call girl? Roman tells him that Kelly was overheard saying that Alex hated her almost as much as she hated him. He questions if there is some connection between Renee’s death and Kelly’s? Larry comes in as they are leaving, asking more questions about their suspects. Roman thinks that these two women were connected in some way that they haven’t figured out yet. He does not think these were crimes of passion.

Roman talks to Anna at Shenanigan’s and she is very disturbed about being questioned. He tells her it was just routine questioning. She defends herself again, that she could never hate anyone enough to kill them. Anna points out that she has no connection to Kelly, and wouldn’t the same person have killed them both. Roman notices Hope sitting at the next table and asks to join her. He noticed her having trouble earlier with a guy. He encourages her that she will find love. She declares that not another man in the world can compare to him and she hopes Marlena knows how lucky he is.

In the morning as they wake up and snuggle and kiss, she didn’t hear him come in last night. He tells her it was late and admits that he didn’t sleep much. Roman tells her that Pete is the prime suspect in Kelly’s murder but she doesn’t appear surprised. He asks her if there I something he should know? He warns her that Pete may not be her patient much longer, as he needs a lawyer right now a lot more than he needs a shrink. She is disappointed as they are making progress. Roman invites her to shower with him and he is disappointed when she distracted she says no thanks, she has too much to do. Marlena calls Sandy and asks if they can meet at the Crisis Center at 2:00? She would like to talk to her about Pete. Roman suggests that they find a housekeeper like they talked about. Marlena tells him that Hope isn’t coming to the rap sessions anymore. Roman tells her that Jane is really doing a number on Hope and a guy from her high school was hassling her. Larry calls and tells her that he needs Pete to confess to the murder he is suspected in. She hangs up on Larry and tells Roman that the DA is a creep. He agrees that is one way of putting it.

:3 mins. Roman is questioning Pete and Pete thinks that Marlena is telling Roman about their sessions. He admits that he was at the DiMera dames house the night she got iced, and this is news to Abe and Roman. They tell him again Marlena isn’t talking to them about their sessions. He taunts Roman on his way out that he will say hello to his wife for him. Larry comes in and realizes that they have zip on Pete. Larry complains about Marlena’s ethics. Roman warns him to leave Marlena alone. After Larry leaves, Roman asks Abe why he dislikes that man so much? Abe quips, “Good judge of character?”. Roman worries to Abe that Pete was out by the DiMera estate that night and he does not like Marlena being around that guy. Abe shares that he put a request into his probation officer asking for a new doctor for Pete. He figures Marlena can get mad at him. Roman warns him that he doesn’t know what he is in for!

Marlena admits to Sandy that last year a lot of women in Salem died last year because she didn’t realize that Jake was psychotic. Now several women have been stabbed and she refuses to believe that her patient is guilty as she knows he couldn’t have done it. Marlena later comes in and finds Pete acting menacingly towards Sandy. Marlena asks her if everything is okay? After Sandy leaves, Pete complains to Marlena about being questioned by the police. He tells her that her old man wants him off the street so they won’t be having anymore sessions. Marlena asks him about the girl who died, the girl who touched his life and made him feel something for her. He refuses to talk about her and goes to leave, upset. Pete tells her he doesn’t want to think about things he doesn’t want to think about, and she wants him to talk about things he doesn’t want to talk about, and then get him to feel things that he doesn’t want to feel. She tells him it is important to her as she trusts him and cares about him. She thinks he has incredible value and wants to help him get his angry out. He tells her that he has to go but he will be back around 8:00. Marlena calls Sandy and tells her that since she has a session with Pete, that Sandy doesn’t need to go to the center tonight. Roman comes home exhausted and tells her he had a rough day. She gives him a kiss and tells him to get some rest, as she has to go to The Right Connection for her session with Pete. Pete screams that he didn’t do it, it wasn’t him. Sandy says the guy came up behind her in the dark and she couldn’t see his face. Pete declares that he came in when he arrived for his session. He saw the guy attacking her, and tried to help her. Roman insists on knowing who did it if not Pete. Roman knows it was his gang, the Vipers. Roman reports that they feel threatened by Marlena helping Pete. Pete declares he would never hurt the doc and asks her to believe him. She isn’t sure what to believe. Pete is taken down to the PD for questioning as he continues to yell that he didn’t do it. Marlena asks her if she is very sure that he did it? She can’t be sure as Marlena looks for evidence that Pete is telling the truth. Chris arrives and Roman tells him that the place had been ransacked and someone had attacked Sandy.

Marlena talks to Pete at the PD and she questions him about one of his gang being responsible for what happened tonight. She believes he knows who it was. She warns him that she won’t be able to see him anymore as the probation department will assign someone else to his case. She tells him that she thinks he was making progress. She suggests that one of the Vipers came in to teach her a lesson and they got Sandy instead. Marlena tells Marie that she doesn’t buy Alex as the grieving widower. Marlena asks her if she thinks Alex could have killed her? Marie really doesn’t know. Alex questions if she is keeping the center open after the attack? Marlena knows he was never a big supporter of the project.

Bo calls Marlena at the hospital to tell her that Eugene and Trista are back in town. Bo feels something is going on that Marlena isn’t telling him about. Trista arrives and tells Neil, Marie and Marlena about her wedding plans. Cute scene as the ladies go into the lounge and talk about planning Trista’s Bridal Shower and her upcoming wedding. Tom points out that all of the victims had a connection to the hospital. Roman tells him that he is looking for anything unusual, criminal history, mental instability. Marie mentions Eugene’s past almost stopped him from getting a job at the hospital and Marlena spoke up for him. Roman had forgotten about that.

Roman goes back to the DiMeras and meets with Tony and Daphne and their attorney. Anna is also there and she tells him that Don is her attorney but he is out of town. The interrogation scene is cut short. Next Roman shows up at Chris’ wanting to talk to Eugene and tells him he needs answers about who killed Trista. Eugene comes downstairs and tells him he is ready to talk. Roman tells him that no one remembers seeing him at the deli last night. Roman asks if anyone else saw him last night? He says a neighbour leaving for work. Eugene didn’t notice anyone else when he ran out, he was just focused on getting her help. Eugene wishes he had a premonition that Trista was in danger. Roman calls Alex next to come in to be questioned.

Back at the PD, Larry demands Roman makes a statement reassuring the public that he is near to finding the killer. Roman yells at Larry that he went through the Salem Strangler case with Don as a DA and he almost punched him on more than one occasion and Don was a peach compared to Larry. Roman is questioning Alex and Eugene comes in yelling that he tried to drive her crazy and when that didn’t work, he killed her! Eugene demands that Roman arrest Alex. Eugene grabs Alex and Roman pulls him away. Eugene goes on that Alex killed Renee for her money. Larry comes in and wants to know where Alex was when Trista was killed. Roman kicks Eugene out so he can continue talking to Alex. He refuses to answer the question and Roman warns him that he is already at the top of his suspect list. Gwen pipes up and says that she can vouch for Alex as he was with her all night. Larry wants to go back to find out where Eugene was now that Alex has an alibi.

Later, Roman tells Eugene that Alex has an alibi. Roman assures him that he will find out who killed her. Larry stops him and warns him to get a lawyer. After Eugene leaves, Roman reams him for being a jerk to Eugene after he just lost his wife. Roman wants to know why Larry is living in his office, doesn’t he have somewhere to go? Roman questions Eugene’s neighbour next. He reports seeing him come home around 2:00 in the morning and was fumbling for his keys. He heard him call out to a woman, “Trish” or something like that. After the guy leaves, Roman points out to Larry that Eugene wouldn’t have called out her name if he had already killed her. Larry points out that he was covering his tracks.

Hope dreams first of Roman, as he lays sits on the bed next to her and wishes her good morning. Bo interrupts and tells Roman that his wife is looking for him. After Roman leaves, he tells her that her relationship with Roman is pure but that isn’t what she wants. He continues to tell her that he is the man she wants and rips open his shirt (you can hear the buttons popping!). A now shirtless Bo sits down on her bed and tells her that she wants a man, one that doesn't have to ask for permission to touch her. He declares he is going to make a woman out of her and begins kissing her. (safe to say the crush on Roman is over!! Hubba Hubba, LOL).

9/29 A grieving Marlena cries when Roman comes home, she has been going through her cousin Trista's things. She holds a stuffed animal and tells Roman a childhood story about saying “Lay Me Down to Sleep” to Trista. She declares it is an odd prayer for a child. Roman says it is supposed to be comforting but it wasn’t. He points out that at least she found some happiness with Eugene and Marlena is grateful for that. She tells Roman that the funeral is all set. He is sorry that he can’t go as he needs to stay here to work on the case. He tells her about Eugene coming in tonight demanding to have Alex arrested and Roman had to pull him off of him. They walk down on the docks and he reminds her of the first time they came here. He remembers not being able to sleep when he first met her, knowing he was 10 feet away from her bedroom door. She observes that there were other reasons they couldn’t sleep. He agrees, “The Salem Stranger”. He tries to tell her that things are different now as they have each other, and each other’s love and their family now. He promises that they will have a lot of happiness together the rest of their lives. He tells her he will catch whoever the killer is. She asks what is on his mind, and he says Eugene. He tells her that once he thought Eugene could have killed his first wife but now he knows him, he knows he wouldn’t hurt anyone. He warns her that Larry is looking at Eugene for a suspect and Roman is going to have to prove he didn’t do it. Marlena vows to stand by Eugene.

They arrive at Shenanigan’s and Sandy pays her respects to Marlena. The Vipers have walked in and Marlena asks him not to make a scene as they stare at Marlena. He complains that he can’t arrest them for staring. She shares that she will feel better once Eugene is off the DA’s suspect list. She asks if they could go to a movie to get her mind off of things. Pete comes over and gloats that he has been cleared as a suspect. Roman says yes IF his buddies alibi holds up. They arrive home, as Marlena changed her mind about going to a movie. He suggests a warm bath will help her sleep. He has a lot of paperwork at the station to get to. He suggests she unplug the phone and try to get some sleep. He starts kissing her and then suggests maybe he should stay home after all. She tells him to go ahead that she is okay. She tells him how much she loves him and he tells her he loves her SO much and kisses her again before he leaves.

9/30 Roman is working at the PD and Abe suggests he go home. Roman declares he wouldn’t be able to sleep anyway and he has to find the killer before anyone else dies. Pete has entered Marlena’s bedroom, and she starts screaming when she realises it isn’t Roman. Abe takes Pete away as he calls out that he wasn’t trying to hurt her. Roman holds a shaken Marlena. He tells her that Danny had called them as he thought he was on his way over. Roman is shaken at the thought of losing her and said Pete could have killed her. Roman is at the PD with Carrie who is drawing pictures all over his files. Marlena has left for Denver for Trista’s funeral and is off the show for the next bit of time. An old friend of Gene's from Haiti, Mr. Tilson shows up at Salem PD and wants to help Gene through his ordeal, as Gene is still a suspect in Trista's murder. Mr. Tilson soon has a run-in with D.A. Larry Welch who is determined to get Eugene behind bars for Tristas's murder. Roman is wonders the significance of why all of the murder victims had Raven feathers in their hands.

Roman stops by Letitia's (Eugene’s cousin played by Ruth Buzzi) to speak to her. Mr. Tilson is there, ready to escort Gene to Denver. While Roman and another detective wait for Leticia, they spot a Raven among the live animals in the living room. They question why Letitia would keep a live Raven there. Another detective points out that all three murders (Renee, Kelly, Trista) had a connection to a raven. They search for Eugene who has overheard and snuck out the back in a panic.

10/3 Reduced quality. At Shenanigan’s, Abe and Roman wonder where Eugene has taken off to. Sandy shows up and tells the guys that she found Eugene in Denver. He called from the airport. Roman tells her that Eugene is a suspect and with him leaving town, if Larry found out he could issue a warrant for his arrest. Sandy wants Roman to keep that rotten DA away from Eugene. Roman and Abe are back at the PD, working the case trying to figure out a connection between the victims and their suspects. Abe still suspects Alex is the killer as he had a connection to all three. Roman would love to put Alex out of commission and send him somewhere like Siberia! They question the truck driver again as he was spotted sitting with David and they question him for a previous relationship. They go over his story again as he is David’s alibi.

10/4 Great quality. In Denver at Trista’s place, Marlena talks to Eugene about all the happy times he had with Trista, and she starts crying. She sobs in his arms as they console each other. He pushes her away and tells her that being close to him could put Marlena in danger. He tells her that the Bakka could release the family curse. He doesn’t want her to be close to her as the curse could put her in danger. Gene tells Marlena that since he has the Bakka, he, the Bakka and the Bradford Curse have caused all of the murders. She tries to talk sense into him that it is just a nice artifact. She tells him that he isn’t responsible for the deaths, and Roman doesn’t think he is either. She tells him she will see him soon back in Salem.

10/5 - 10/6 Quality so-so. Roman talks to Eugene when he returns to town. He tells Roman that he hasn’t been sleeping. When he does, he dreams of her and their happy life and then he reaches out for her and she is gone. He tells her how helpful Marlena was for the funeral. Roman hopes he understands why he couldn’t be there. They reminisce over their beginning and Eugene knows he is there now because of Larry Welch. Roman tells him that Larry sees him of a former mental patient who is capable of killing his wife. Roman knows he didn’t kill Trista and that he loved her. They both share stories of falling in love with their brides. Roman asks why Eugene ran out the back door. He says he was tired of talking about Trista’s death. Eugene asks Roman about what is the significance of the raven in the murders? He over heard a cop say something the other day. Roman can’t discuss details of the case with him. Eugene thanks him for believing in his innocence.

Next Roman arrives at the hospital. He tells Marie that Marlena is staying in Denver a few more days. He and Tom go into the lounge so they can talk in private. Roman returns the files on his staff and said he didn’t come across anyone who was suspicious. He reports that looks like it is only a coincidence that the three victims were hospital staff members at one time. Roman comes into the PD, upset that Pete has gotten away from being taken to Detention Hall and is back on the streets. Roman is going to call Marlena and suggest she stay in Denver for a few more days. Anna and Don come back to the PD for her to be questioned again. Anna feels faint but insists on answering their questions as she wants to provide any help she can give him. Her hand gets shaky and she drops her water. They notice how nervous she is. She says that this situation is reminding her of what it feels like to be trapped, like all those years when she was held prisoner on the yacht. She knows finally how it feels to be free and how precious life is.

Roman is sorry he has to put her through this. They are pretty casual, just want to go over the details of the alibi she gave for Tony. They ask her which car they went in and she had difficulty remembering the make of the car or the color and eventually she comes up with a maroon sports car. They ask her what she was wearing and she was very detailed, but doesn’t remember what Tony was wearing. Roman tells her that they have to cover every angle. Don surmises that Larry is on his back. Roman reports that he is and he sure wishes that Don was still the DA.

Next, Tony arrives to be questioned again. Roman asks Anna and Don to wait around as he may have more questions. Roman asks what clothes he was wearing, but then comes up with a description. He doesn’t remember what Anna was wearing. When asked about the car, he recalls it was the black sedan and Roman shows his surprise. Tony gets very defensive. Roman and Abe question David again, with Mickey complaining about them harassing him. They bring in Mr. Wilkins and tell David that they have been spotted together twice now. They ask him about giving Wilkins several hundred dollars. David claims that he was buying a tv from him. Wilkins tells David that he can keep his money, that it isn’t worth it. David claims that he just needed an alibi as they were on his back. Eugene and Bo are listening to all of this outside Roman’s office. Eugene is determined to stay to find out what David knows.

Wilkins tells them about David asking him to give him an alibi and he agreed as he believed in David’s innocence. David assures Roman on his way out that he didn’t kill anyone. As he leaves, Eugene demands to know where he was the night Trista was killed. David claims he picked up a girl at Shenanigan’s and took her home with him. Danny tells them that he saw David the night of Trista’s murder and David left alone! Roman is disturbed to see Bo as his face is covered in bruises and he admits that he had a run in with the Vipers.

10/7-10/10 Reduced. Gwen is attacked. She has hidden under her bed and left a lump in the middle of the bed. The killer tries to stab her and leaves a knife in the mound of the bed. Gwen’s scream scares the killer off and he runs out. Alex arrives and finds her cowering under the bed. Soon Abe arrives and he questions Gwen but she didn’t see her attacker. Abe find the knife impaled in her bed and a Raven’s feather on the floor.

10/13 Reduced quality, little bit of tracking, good sound. Abe and Roman argue about who the killer is, and their approach. Roman thinks it is Alex as he had motive and opportunity. Abe thinks the MO is the key and he thinks it is Eugene as he has a connection to the raven’s feathers. Bo and Eugene talk to Roman, who warns them that they better not withhold information from him.

10/14 -10/26 Reduced quality. Roman talks to Sandy at the PD. Chris calls Roman to ask him why he wants to question Eugene again? Two cops are there to bring Eugene in for questioning again and he doesn’t want to cooperate. Roman asks Chris to get him to come in as Roman doesn’t want to have to put out a warrant. When Eugene comes in, he is irate that Roman is wasting time questioning Eugene when he didn’t do it and Roman is no closer to catching this maniac.

When Eugene tells him he doesn’t have an attorney yet, Roman yells at him that he needs a lawyer as he is a suspect in more than one case. Roman tries to assure him that he is his friend but has to treat Eugene like everyone else. Eugene thinks this means they are back to Roman thinking he is capable of killing. Roman fills him in on the attempt on Gwen and asks his whereabouts. Eugene can’t believe Roman thinks he could have killed Trista, really? Roman warns him that this isn’t about what he thinks, as the DA doesn’t know Eugene and without an attorney he could wind up hanging himself. Eugene tells him that he took a walk and ran into Kayla with David. Eugene is eager to leave as he has a plan of his own to find out who killed Trista. Roman warns him to stay out of police business and demands to know what his plan is? On Eugene’s way out, Roman asks Bo what he and Eugene are up to? He warns them that they better not be withholding information from him.

Joan pulls a message up on the computer, “I failed once, I won’t fail again. All traitors must die.” Sandy calls Roman and tells him that Pete was at The Right Connection last night and Bo and Eugene tried to catch him. Roman knew those two were up to something last night. Roman arrives and Abe threatens that they are interfering in a murder investigation. Bo shows him a note that Pete left for Marlena that he needed her help. Pete had a gun and took a shot at them. Bo shows him the slugs in the wall. Roman is furious that Bo didn’t even make a single phone call, they could have had this place surrounded. Bo says that is what he was afraid of, Pete going on the run and them missing him. Roman is upset as Marlena is at risk from Pete. Bo promises that he will get him next time. Roman yells there will not be a next time, that he is off this case. Roman warns him that if he gets any additional information about this or any other investigation to call him! Sandy is jumpy and Roman offers to provide a plainclothes cop.

Roman sees Bo and Hope and Melissa at the Riverfront diner and thinks they might be involved in the action last night. He tries to intimidate them into giving him info but they deny any knowledge about Jannings. Roman questions Melissa that Marie saw Hope and Melissa at The Right Connection about the time Pete dropped off that note. They are all very quiet and Bo assures him the girls aren’t involved. When they go to their table, Abe comments that Roman was pretty tough on them.

Back at the PD, Roman tells Abe that there is another murder victim. This time it is a man, he was found with a knife in his back and a raven’s feather in his hand. Don and Roman talk and they both comment on how edgy each other looks. Roman tells him that he wants Marlena to stay out of town until Pete is caught. Larry comes in demanding results fast! He is holding a press conference and needs answers. Larry wants to know who tops the list? Eugene? Pete? Roman tells him to take his pick. Roman says he doesn’t know but he thinks the deaths are related to Renee’s murder. Roman is brought in a cuff link that he found near Gwen’s patio door. Larry observes this looks like something that would belong to Alex. He is thrilled with the evidence but Roman is somber.

Eugene is brought in for questioning and Roman has a public defender there. Roman tells him it is a good idea. Eugene is flippant as he waves his rights. This time they are questioning him about Gwen being attacked in her townhouse. He reports he wasn’t anywhere near her house that night. Roman shows him a cuff link and Eugene identifies it as one Trista gave him. The attorney warns him not to say anything else. Larry brings in a warning letter from the Captain’s office demanding that Roman cooperate with the DA’s office or he is gone! Larry admits that he persuaded the captain to write the letter. Larry demands that he brings Eugene in and goes over all the evidence linking him to each of the murders. Larry says he is a psycho and wants him locked up. Roman tells Joan that he needs a search warrant for Leticia’s house and he will handle it himself.

Roman is talking to Neil as he decked Larry Welch and he is a very powerful man that could press charges and cause Neil a lot of trouble. Roman asks why he did it and Neil declares he had it coming. Roman suggests that he call Larry and apologise but Neil refuses. They agree that Larry brings out the worst in people. Roman promises to put in a good word for him but warns him in the future to be more careful who he hits. Joan gives Roman the search warrant for Leticia’s.

10/25-10/26 So-so quality, very watchable. Roman arrives at Leticia’s and announces that he has a search warrant. Roman gains entry and meets Romulus, the lion and Leticia! He wants to know where Eugene is, but doesn’t find him at the house. Later, she mentions Eugene catching a flight but doesn’t know where he went. He tells her that Eugene isn’t doing the right thing by running away and assures her that he is his friend, though she observes that he doesn’t act like it. Roman tells Chris and Sandy about Eugene leaving town and he had to put out a warrant for his arrest. He confesses that sometimes he hates being a cop. They go to Doug’s Place for dinner. He tells them that he doesn’t know who the killer is. Neil has joined them and observes that the DA is headed their way. Larry warns Neil that he will pay for his attack on him just like Liz is paying for her attack on Marie. After Larry walks away, Roman admits that he had smiled when he heard Neil hit him. He continues that off the record, he wishes he had done it!

Roman stops by Leticia’s and finds Gwen there. Roman suggests that Gwen is there as she suspects Eugene of attacking her. Her cover blown, Gwen leaves in a huff. Leticia is going out for lunch and invites him to join her for lunch, he says only if she has information for him. Roman joins her at Doug’s Place. She tells him Eugene disappears all the time. Hope stops by their table and asks to talk to Roman. After Leticia leaves, she tells him about overhearing Brett though she can’t believe Anna would be involved in killing anyone. Roman and Abe are at the PD, as Brett comes in for questioning. He wants to talk to his lawyer. They tell him he isn’t a suspect, but he does have information about Renee’s death and they demand that he tell them everything. A witness overheard him saying he knew who killed Renee and they demand information or they will charge him with Obstruction of Justice. He saw Anna coming out of Renee’s room with blood on her hands. He didn’t think his sister (Anna) is a killer.

Next Anna is back at the PD and Brett says he is sorry for this. Brett tells her he can’t lie anymore to protect her. Tony demands she is charged with First Degree Murder. Roman takes her in to be questioned. Roman tells her he is sorry for putting her through this, while Abe points out that this isn’t looking too good for her. She continues to deny she killed anyone. She says that Brett and Tony hate her and they are going to believe them? When they go outside, Tony calls her a murderess. Roman is having lab work done on some blood stained tissue that Brett gave them that he had found in Anna’s room. He says if the blood matches Renee’s then they are getting somewhere. Sandy brings Roman a note that Pete left at The Right Connection, and tells him that he is still looking for Marlena.

Roman approaches Anna and demands to know why she lied to him about the tissue, as the lab report came in and the blood matches Renee’s. She claims that Brett is trying to frame her for murder. She tells him that Brett is a conniving liar and this is why she never wanted Roman to meet any of her family. She asks him if he really believes that she is capable of murder? He warns her to contact Don that she will need to come in for questioning again. Roman tells Sandy that sometimes he thinks he doesn’t know his ex-wife at all. Roman goes back to the PD and tell Abe and Joan that he confronted Anna about lying about the tissue. He asks them if Anna could have really killed Renee for revenge, and then killed Trista because she knew too much? He says there are too many unanswered questions and his money is still on Alex Marshall! Anna dreams of Roman calling her guilty, while Roman is tossing and turning in a restless sleep.

10/27-10/31 Marlena arrives home from her trip to Denver (Dee was off screen most of Oct). Marlena is home alone upstairs when Pete sneaks in and helps himself to food and coffee. When she comes downstairs, he warns her to stay quiet but tells her that he won’t hurt her. He tells her that he couldn’t stand being locked up and had to take his change to escape. She looks spooked and he tells her that he has been hanging out waiting for her. He gives her attitude that she left town when he needed her. She calls him on breaking into her house and wants to know what he wants. He tells her that she is the only one who ever gave him a break even when he talked rough and wants her to help him. She tries to walk away and he grabs her, though continues to tell her that he won’t hurt her. He needs cash and a car and he isn’t leaving until she helps him. She gives him all the cash she has, but he tells her that she has to do a lot better. She warns him that running away isn’t going to help him. He tells her that he is’t going back to that place and starts crying that he can’t take it anymore.

Alice rings the doorbell and calls her name. Pete grabs her and puts his hand over her mouth so she can’t call out. He tells her that his father will kill him and if he doesn’t the Vipers will and he is really scared. He begs her again to help and runs out the backdoor after asking her to meet him at the Crisis Center. Alice notices that she is shaken and asks if she is alright, Marlena covers for Pete. After Alice leaves, Marlena leaves a message for Roman to meet her at crisis center in an hour. Marlena arrives at The Right Connection and they are all upset to see the center closed with a big sign outside. A furious Marlena walks into the PD carrying the closed sign she ripped off the crisis center door (the seem to have dropped the full name). He admits that he closed the center. Roman tells her that he had no other choice as Pete is a threat to her. Roman yells that the reason Pete was in custody is that he broke into their home and scared her, it is just too dangerous and Sandy agreed. He points out that as soon as she came home, that Pete started showing up everywhere.

Marlena goes to talk to Chris and confronts him about supporting Roman in closing the crisis center. Chris tells her it is just too dangerous, Pete has been dangerous in the past and he has been trying to track her down. Chris warns her that there have been several murders and Pete is a suspect. Marlena wants him to reopen it but he refuses. She determines that she will just find another place. Marlena tells him that she saw Pete only an hour ago and he is desperate for help and she will help him!

Roman arrives home and admits that he did want her to stay in Denver for her safety. Marlena assures him that when she saw Pete’s face, she knew how much she had helped him. She tells Roman that she will find a house as another location for the crisis center. Roman asks if they have to talk about this right now as he hasn’t seen his wife in two weeks and leans in and kisses her. She heads in to start dinner, and he sets a romantic table complete with candlelight. Marlena is upset at the thought of Pete out there alone and scared. Roman is worried that this thing is coming between them. She tells him she is hurting and he holds her in his arms. She tells him that she doesn’t think anything could keep them apart for very long.

11/1 (Good quality except last 3 mins poor quality). At PD, Abe asks Roman how Marlena is doing since he shut down “The Right Connection”. He says she is sad, angry, and he is worried about her looking for a new place. Hope goes to the PD and tells Roman and Abe about Letiticia talking like Eugene was in the other room, but she didn’t see Eugene. The guys are concerned to see another message come in saying that another traitor will die. Roman is frustrated as the killer keeps ahead of them.

Roman arrives at Letitica’s as he has reason to believe that Eugene is there. He notices Bo kicking Eugene’s shoes under the couch and Roman spots him. Letitia invites them to search for him and tell them they will never find him there. Roman begins warning Bo that if he finds out that he knows where Eugene is. After Roman leaves, Letitia talks to the mummy case and tells him to hang in there as her visitors will leave soon (as Hope overhears).

11/4 Great quality. Marlena goes to see Leticia, looking for Eugene. Leticia makes an excuse for the two coffee cups sitting out. Leticia says she knew that Marlena was coming over so that is why she has a second coffee cup out. Marlena then notices the Bakka and says she knows that Eugene would never have left this. Marlena says she knows Eugene isn’t responsible for the murders and she wants to help him. She suggests that he should turn himself into Roman. Marlena wants to borrow the Bakka, but we see Eugene pop his head out from behind a curtain shaking his head no. Marlena wants to discover the meaning behind the symbols but Letitcia says she couldn’t let it out of the house. Marlena asks to just take it to be photographed and try to unravel the mystery of those symbols. When Letiticia agrees that she does trust Marlena, she grabs the Bakka thanking her for her trust and runs out before she can stop her as Letiticia sputters in protest. Marlena soon returns the Bakka and offers to have Eugene protected. Letiticia asks if she means locked up? She says she would never do that and reminds her that Euguene trusts her.

During their lunch at the Salem Inn, Roman asks Marlena about her going to Letiticia’s and borrowing the Bakka. Roman continues that he knows she is looking at a new property for the crisis center and some locations are in problem areas. She wants to know how he knows where she is looking at property? He admits that he is having her followed for her own protection as he cares about her so much. Roman tells her how much he worries about her with a maniac running around killing people. She wants to confirm that there isn’t any new evidence pointing to Eugene? He can’t tell her but he does share that he doesn’t think Eugene is the murderer. Roman advises Marlena he is concerned for her safety and has ordered extra protection for her. Roman spots Tyler Malone with Gwen dining across the restaurant. Malone was the security guard who brought in the evidence against Eugene.

Marlena goes back to Leticia’s and meets her real live lion! Letiticia called her to come over as she is so worried about Gene. He has been back in Salem for several days and is hiding out. He blames the curse of the Bakka for Trista’s death and tells her how strangely Gene is behaving. Letitica says he isn’t there right now but when he returns, she promises to call the police when he returns but worries if she is doing the right thing. She wants Marlena to help him. Marlena believes the police will drop the charges against him. As Marlena leaves, we see Gene watching from outside.

:5 Mins 11/10 Anna comes into the PD wanting reassurance of what her situation is now that Eugene is locked up, that she is no longer under suspicion. He tells her that just because Eugene is arrested that it doesn’t mean he is the killer nor that she has been cleared. Roman asks her if she has anything to hide. He tells her without additional evidence that Eugene will be released.

(Great scene!) Mickey comes in and demands to see Roman. He wants the DiMera off the list of suspects if Roman doesn’t have further evidence. Mickey states his case on behalf of Tony and Roman says he hopes that Mickey didn’t come down here to recite Tony’s list of good deeds. Roman reminds him that businessman commit murder too. Roman loses his temper and yells at Mickey that he is sorry if the DiMera family has been inconvenienced but Roman is more concerned about the people of Salem who don’t have the money and the power behind them and jump at every noise, those are the people he is concerned about. Has Mickey given them any thought? Roman recounts the five dead people and asks if Mickey doesn’t care about them? He declares he cares more about the living like Eugene and the widow of one of the victims, not whether the suspects are inconvenienced or bothered. Unfortunately they all have to suffer until Roman finds that guilty person and tells Mickey good day as he stands by the open door, expectantly waiting for Mickey to depart.

Dvd #6C :18 mins Kayla comes in after Mickey has left, worried about him. She reports she could hear him yelling all the way down the hall. She reports that mom and pop are worried about him too. He thinks of his mom and says he misses her. Kayla had brought him lunch earlier and she notices he hasn’t touched it. As he stares out the window, she asks him what he is thinking about? He is lost in the past in his mom’s kitchen when life was simpler and easier. She hasn’t seem him like this since Anna went missing. She reminds him that Anna and his baby girl survived and everything he has in his life, including Marlena. He relaxes and smiles and gives her a big hug, her job to cheer him up accomplished.

Roman stops by Kayla’s place later, and sees Anna on her way out. Anna is moving in with Kayla. He tells her she is right that he hasn’t been spending enough time with the people he loves. He apologises to her. She asks him what is he doing there when he could be halfway home to Marlena by now. He also shares that Eugene will be released from jail in the morning.

Hope goes to the PD and tells Roman and Abe about Leticia talking like Eugene was in the other room, but she didn’t see Eugene. The guys are concerned to see another message come in saying that another traitor will die. Roman is frustrated as the killer keeps ahead of them. Roman tells Abe that he should warn him that he almost decked the reporter. Eugene comes in confirming that he is free to go. Yes, there isn’t enough evidence to hold him. An irate Tony comes in accusing Eugene of murder. Larry comes in and demands that Eugene make himself available for questioning and no more playing hide and seek. On his way out, Eugene privately thanks Roman for believing in him.

Larry has gone through Roman’s personnel file and found that he went into therapy after Anna’s death. Roman accuses Larry of being self serving and only concerned about his election and he is using this case to make a bigger case for him. He tells Larry he should crawl back under a rock where he belongs rather than be the DA. Larry whines that he just wants to break this case. Roman warns Larry that if he breaths anything about the details of this case they will have a ton of copycats and Roman will come down on him like a ton of bricks. Larry tells him not to threaten him.

Roman runs into Tony at the Park Cafe, and Tony complains about Roman letting the killer loose. Roman points out that anyone at that party could be the killer. Tony tells Roman not to blame himself before he heads out, and Abe joins Roman. He tells Abe that if he can’t catch the killer and do his job then it is almost like he is the person killing all of those people if he can’t stop it. Eugene comes in next and joins Roman (Abe is gone by now). Eugene tells him that he just wants to find this guy and Roman agrees that makes two of them.

Marlena finally arrives apologizing for being late. She had a patient and couldn’t get to the phone. He tells her he only has time for a quick sandwich and now he has to get back to the office. She worries that he is pushing himself too hard. He shares that he has to while the killer is still out there. She comments that he isn’t sleeping very well. She tells him that solving this case has become a compulsion for him and she can tell him from experience that it doesn’t work. She thinks they are both working too much and it is tearing them apart as she has been at the hospital a lot. She is going to cut down on her patient load to be able to spend more time with him. She asks him to take some time off and to rest. He knows he needs it, he knows they both do. He promises that as soon as he solves this case, he will spend a lot of time with her. He has to get going now though as Abe is waiting for him.

Marlena calls Abe to talk to Roman but he isn’t there. She is puzzled as she reports that she saw him at the Park Cafe and he was headed into the PD. He reports that he never showed up. Marlena comments that Abe sounds worried about him too? He agrees that he is as Roman is not acting like himself.

Back home at night, Roman is having fitful sleep and dreams about all the murder suspects. They both wake up and Marlena comforts him. Marlena suggests that they have Tom & Alice, and his parents over for dinner tonight and he reluctantly agrees. They hear an announcement on the radio of a threat from the killer that there will be a new victim. Bo arrives and Marlena tells him he can bring a date to the family dinner that night. He says no thank you. Roman heads out as Bo stays behind to talk to Marlena. She tells him that the good news is that his mother is making dinner, Roman’s favorite pork roast. She starts crying as she is so worried about Roman and Bo comfortingly puts his arms around her.

11/7-11/17 Good quality. Marlena meets Roman for dinner and he looks so defeated and discouraged. She apologizes for all the dissension since she has returned from Colorado. They both agree they want to get back to where they were. Abe calls and needs to meet with Roman immediately so he sadly has to leave his dinner. Marlena comes into Leticia’s to find Roman arresting Eugene. She is shocked to see a body covered in a white sheet, Letiticia has been murdered! Eugene declares that he never would have killed her! Marlena is sure he didn’t do it either. Abe takes Eugene out, and Roman tells Marlena how sorry he is this happened. Marlena worries that Eugene is cracking up with first Trista’s murder, and now this. She wants to keep it out of the newspapers but he doesn’t see how they would. She asks Roman to tell her that he knows Gene didn’t do this, but he can’t. She has tears in her eyes as he tells her that he has to be a cop first, friend second.

Marlena arrives at the PD and begs Gene to tell them that Marlena is his doctor, to give her access to see him and his care. Roman defends her access and advocacy for Gene when Larry tries to get her to leave. Marlena later returns with legal representation for him. Marlena surprises Roman by meeting him for breakfast. She shocks him by telling him that Alex will fund the new crisis center. Roman doesn’t want her to have anything to do with him and wants her to turn the money down! He warns her that he could be just as bad as Stefano! Marlena then meets with Tony and they go to the hospital together. She happens to see his tv interview in the hospital lounge. She later goes to the PD and asks Roman to go home with her. She wants them to take care of each other. He tells her he can’t leave, he will just want to come home. He has to figure out why people are dying, before the killer strikes again.

They meet at the Park Cafe. Marlena tells Roman that she is worried about them and they both need time off. She offers to reduce her patient load to be able to spend more time with him. He promises that as soon as he breaks this case, he will take some time off. She tells him that the good news is that his mother is making dinner, Romans’ favorite pork roast. She starts crying as she is so worried about Roman and Bo comfortingly puts his arms around her.

11/17 Nice scene as Shawn comes by to see Roman and tell him how much he misses him, and is looking forward to seeing him at the family dinner that night. Roman tells Shawn about having trouble sleeping. Next Don comes in and Roman tells him that the killer is so cocky that they are announcing their plans for the next murder to the PD. Family dinner begins as the Horton’s and Brady’s gather. Roman is shocked when Bo comes in the back door, finding it unlocked. Roman can’t believe she was so careless and reminds her how much he worries. An upset Roman goes upstairs. and Bo follows him to talk to him. Roman is frustrated trying to protect everyone and finding they aren’t taking care of themselves. Roman thinks he came up to make comments to him but Bo tells him to relax as he didn’t come up here to hassle him. He doesn’t even know why he came to this party? Temporary insanity? he jokes. Pop comes up and is happy to see Bo is concerned about his brother and sees what a fine man he is. Pop warns him that Roman is busy dealing with all of these murders and he doesn’t want Bo adding anything to it.

Later Bo asks Marlena what it is like to really be in love with someone like her and Roman are. She shares that they are each other’s light and joy. Marlena worries that someone is out to hurt Roman. Later that night in bed, they hold each other and snuggle and discuss the evening. He says it was nice having the folks there and raves even Bo behaved himself. Marlena observes that Bo was trying hard for him. Roman shares there was a time when he scared them all after he thought Anna had drowned and pushed them all away and shut his family out. She knows it was because he felt guilty over Anna’s accident and know he is blaming himself for all the killings. He tells her he went to therapy and tells her that Larry had dug it up in her files and through it in Roman’s face.

In the morning, Marlena has picked up some evidence and Roman comes up and slaps grabs it out of her hand. He can’t discuss it with her, as it is classified evidence and he shouldn’t have left it laying out. She worries as he hardly slept. He asks her to be patient with her, he has to find the common denominator that will tell him who the killer is. There was never any sign of a struggle, screaming, or forced entry, so they all had to have known who the killer was. Abe comes by and Marlena leaves them alone to talk. Abe reports there is another message from the killer, “Today”. After talking to the commissioner, he tells Abe that the commish is releasing the contents of the message to the public. When Marlena comes back in, Roman has to rush out to go to the office and doesn’t have time to eat breakfast. While he is upstairs, Abe fills Marlena in on why he is so anxious to get to the station. Marlena declares that Roman is so anxious about this case that he can’t relax until he catches the killer.

An ecstatic Eugene arrives to show Marlena his new taxi! He tells Marlena that he will take her anywhere, anytime, that is flag is always up for her! Roman comes down and kisses her goodbye and he and Abe head out. Eugene’s feelings are a bit hurt that Roman didn’t have time to check out his new taxi. Marlena excuses that he is just really busy with this case. She gives Eugene the breakfast that Roman didn’t have time to eat.

11/18 We see what looks like Roman Brady wearing gloves making a suspicious purchase of a weapon paid for by credit card so it can be easily traced. Bo comes into PD and Abe yells at Bo that he doesn’t know where Roman is or when he will be back. He quickly apologizes for popping off but says the PD is crazy with the alert that there will be another murder and the phones are ringing off the hook. When Roman arrives, he bites Bo’s head off so Bo quickly leaves. Abe tells Roman that he is frustrated as well but advises that Roman isn’t superman and they are all in this together. Roman admits to being scared as he knew all of the victims personally and wonders if that personal connection to him has something to do with this case.

Marlena and Sandy have lunch together and Eugene stops by and joins them. Afterwards, Marlena goes to the PD and Abe loses it when she asks where Roman is? He can’t keep track of Roman when there is a killer on the loose. Marlena notices a new message coming in, warning that there will be another murder within the hour.

11/21-11/22 We see the killer looking at pictures of his victims and making an X through the picture of each one. The camera pans to the killer’s face and it is Roman! Marlena and Sandy are returning home to Sandy’s place, they find Roman in the apartment and he runs out as they see a body laying on the floor. Marlena sobs in Sandy’s arms that it wasn’t Roman, that he didn’t kill anyone. Sandy tells a police detective that he killed Daisy Hawkins and they both saw him do it!

When Abe arrives, she shakily tells him that there must be some mistake. They all go down to the PD. Marlena points out that Roman hated those computer messages, why would he send them? Abe is confused as nothing makes sense. Marlena tells Abe that she refuses to make a statement and will not testify against him. He tells her that Sandy’s statement will do for now. Abe begs her to tell him the truth off the record. Marlena says he just stood there and killed her, and it did look like Roman but he never would have killed them. She reminds Abe that when her twin sister was killed everyone thought it was her. Marlena worries that someone might shoot Roman on sight. Abe promises to get to the bottom of this.

Marlena and Sandy return to her house, with police protection. When Roman comes home, Marlena runs into his arms. Abe enters and arrests Roman. He demands his badge. Abe shakily tells a shocked Roman that he is charging him with the murder of Daisy Hawkins as Marlena sobs in the background as they arrest him and take him away. Bo arrives and wants to know what is going on. He determines that Roman would never kill anyone. Sandy tells him that he did, and she saw him! Marlena continues that it wasn’t Roman. Sandy argues that a police officer saw him a well and called out his name as he was running out. Don and Maggie soon arrive and she tells them that they saw Roman at Doug’s Place.

11/22 :6 mins Roman is waiting for Abe to make some sense about why Abe is arresting him? Is this some sort of an undercover scam? Abe warns him not to say anything without an attorney. Roman realizes Abe is really arresting him for murder? Abe tells him there were two witnesses, Sandy and Marlena! Roman starts yelling at him as Larry comes in (sound fluctuates during this scene). Roman asks Abe to get snarky Larry out of the office so he and Abe can talk. Roman insists that he was trying to track down Pete last night.

Marlena heads to the PD and wants to see Roman. Don demands to see him first as he is representing him. Don has to ask Roman if he killed her? Of course he tells him an emphatic NO!! He questions how Sandy and Marlena saw him there? Don tells him that they saw the murder by someone who looks enough like him for his own wife to think it was him. Larry suggests how Roman could have killed Renee and we see Roman acting out the role of the murderer in Larry’s imagination. We see Roman laying in his jail cell staring at the ceiling.

11/22-11/25 Larry gives Marlena his sympathy of learning her husband is a murderer. Marlena warns Larry that it wasn’t Roman and he is telling Abe where he was. Bo chimes in that no way Roman killed anyone. Larry continues to besmirch Roman and Marlena goes after him and tries to hit him while Bo holds her back. Larry promises that he intends on having Roman brought up on charges for every single murder! When they bring Roman out to take him down to booking, he stops and swears to Marlena that she is innocent. She assures him that she knows that.

Back home, Marlena’s phone is ringing off the hook with phone calls from the media. Don warns her there is a very strong case against Roman and they have to prove it wasn’t Roman. Bo assures her they will do that. They both encourage her to take a leave of absence. She doesn’t like the idea, but when they both tell her it is what is best for Roman then she quickly agrees. Bo stays with her, and later she comes back downstairs and finds him reading the scrapbook of Roman’s heroics and citations for bravery. He doesn’t understand how anyone could believe he was capable of killing someone. Marlena observes that Bo loves him a lot. He simply says, “He is my brother”.

Marlena sobs her grief in Abe’s arms as Roman is taking away. Back home, her friends are waiting to be there to support her. She sobs in Gene’s arms. Gene says he can’t believe Roman would kill anyone and he feels that he is connected to this case but doesn’t understand what it all means. She knows this all brings back Trista’s murder. She tells him that he is a wonderful friend to be here for her. Abe arrives with a search warrant. He finds evidence against Roman that has been planted, the pictures of the victims with their faces marked with an x.

11/23 So-so quality Alex laughs his head off as he reads the front page article about Roman Brady being the killer cop. Roman is in his cell, and we see a flashback to him going through the booking and line up process. Don arrives at Marlena’s and Bo yells at the cop to take care of the reporters who have been hassling them all night. Don warns Bo to calm down as knocking out a reporter isn’t going to help anyone. Don that things don’t looks so good and reports Roman’s arraignment will probably be tomorrow. Bo wants to know how he is going to plead? Marlena comes down the stairs and declares that Roman will plead INNOCENT as that is what he is! Marlena declares that he doesn’t have enough evidence. He reminds her that they have two eye witnesses. She will say that it wasn’t Roman as he didn’t kill anyone!

11/25 Don visits Roman in jail with a long list of evidence against Roman as things do not look good. Don recommends he pleads innocent by reason of insanity. Don tells him about the eye witnesses, including the guy from the hardware store where he bought the knife. Don warns him this is a death penalty case. Roman refuses to take an insanity plea as he isn’t guilty. Mrs. H arrives with Shawn bearing a plate of food. Shawn says something evil is going on. He feels something wrong is going on, and he has half of mind to just break Roman out of jail. Mrs. H agrees that she is a law abiding citizen but this is all just wrong! Bo gets a twinkle in his eye as their comments spark an idea.

Marlena finally gets to see Roman and rushes into his arms for just a moment before Abe breaks them apart and takes Roman into court. Later she is able to see Roman in jail and they talk for the first time. Marlena tells him that she believes in his innocence. She tells him she knows it was just someone who looked like him. He doesn’t understand it but she reassures him they will find out what happens. She tells him that Bo and his dad are with her all the time. Marlena continues to be surrounded by friends, Don, Maggie, and Sandy. She flashes back to saying her marriage vows to Roman. Eugene arrives the next morning bearing donuts. As the snow comes down, Marlena flashes back to her honeymoon ski vacation with Roman.

11/28 Reduced quality, glitches. Bo meets with Mrs. H and asks her for her donut recipe. She wants to know what he has up his sleeve? She knows he is up to something. He toasts to her donuts. Next, Bo visits Roman in jail and tells him that Mrs. H is cooking up a batch of his favorite donuts. When a somber Abe won’t leave them alone together, Bo makes a point of emphasizing how much Roman has always loved the chocolate donuts. Roman says he loves them all but Bo says again that Roman especially loves her chocolate donuts. Roman catches the hint and agrees.

11/29 Alex and Gwen visit Marlena to say how sorry they are that Roman is in jail. Alex offers Marlena any help that she may need, and Marlena proclaims Roman's innocence. Sound is out for about :5 seconds as Alex is at Marlena’s. He offers to do anything he can to help Roman. She tells him that Roman is NOT guilty. Back in the jail cell, Roman admits to Don that he does not have alibi for any of the murders. More eyewitnesses are coming forward and Roman knows he has somehow been set up. Poor Abe is distraught and cannot fathom that his longtime friend and colleague Roman has murdered all of these people.

11/30 Alice is in her kitchen making her famous donuts, with Bo mixing the chocolate icing in a bowl. Bo asks her if she really is ready to go through with the plan. She stubbornly informs him that he is 100 % committed. Bo tells Alice that the medical supply man came through with the uniform that Bo would be wearing. Bo then shows Alice a map of Salem and points put the spot where they will meet the next day. When Anna and Carrie come in, Anna admits to Bo in front of Carrie that she believes that Roman may be guilty. Bo and Alice tell little Carrie that her Daddy is a good man and did not hurt anyone.   Bo and Alice dump a small bag of enough "stuff" into the bowl of chocolate icing. Dr. Tom Horton sticks his finger in the icing bowl and but a frantic Alice and Bo catch him before he consumes the icing! Abe stops by and Bo breaks the news to him that prisoners cannot have any food brought in to them. Bo and Alice have to re-think their plan. Alice has Bo throw away the bowl being used to make the chocolate icing.

12/1 When Bo arrives at Marlena’s, she tells him that Roman can’t have any visitors. Due to Roman's life being threatened by the other cops in jail, D.A. Larry Welch recommends that Roman be moved to another jail. Bo is upset with this news and is worried when they don’t know where Roman will be taken. Bo doesn’t want to see him moved, while Marlena just wants to know where he will be and wants him to be safe. Marlena tells Eugene that they are saying Roman is a cop turned bad and that is going to break his heart. Sandy is showing Tony were Alice hides her chocolate donuts and Alice enters just in time to stop Tony from eating one. Bo arrives and tells her that they want to move Roman and their plan is ruined. Bo tells her they have to make sure Roman stays put until they can get him one of those doctored donuts. Bo is sure he can get Abe to keep him safe though Alice worries about the threat against Roman’s life.

Bo confronts Abe about it and points out there could be irate cops at the other jail. Bo worries that something could happen during transport, and believes Abe can protect Roman better than at another jail. Abe comes up with a solution, an undercover man posing as Roman is moved to the other jail. Then Salem PD will empty out all of the prisoners out of the jail cells at Salem PD, which will leave Roman in a cell downstairs under 24 hour surveillance. Anna and Carrie visit Marlena. When Carrie goes upstairs, Marlena thanks her for bringing Carrie to visit. They agree it wouldn’t be good for Carrie to see Roman in jail, but Anna reports Carrie knows what is going on through her friends. Anna tells her that she is thinking about leaving town. Anna wants to keep Carrie with her but Marlena opposes Anna taking away Roman’s child. Anna says that Marlena doesn’t have a say about this. Eugene interrupts to tell Anna that she is the most selfish person he has ever known and he sees through her. Anna is offended and calls Carrie to leave.

Abe brings Marlena to visit Roman and tells him about his plan to keep him in this jail and keep him safe. Marlena is so relieved as she worried that they wouldn’t let her see Roman. He just wants to hold her in his arms but doesn’t know how long that will be. Marlena assures him that they will get him cleared very soon, but Roman is not that optimistic. Marlena is upset about him being targeted by other police officers. He points out that when they see the evidence against him, that he understands their doubts. He can’t believe she doesn’t have any herself. He wonders how long it will take before the shock of everything wears off and she sees things differently. She argues that she will always know he is innocent. She reminds him of Ridgecrest and her being held by Stefano and they got through that. He tells her that he loves her.

At the Park Cafe, a serious Bo and Alice go over their plan for the last time. Ty overhears Alice telling Anna that she found the tape that Anna was looking for, and left it on the kitchen table at the Horton's for Anna. At the PD, Alice is pleading to Captain Donahue to let her bring Roman her homemade donuts. Seeking positive headlines, Larry tells Capt. Donahue he will vouch for Alice and then sets up a press conference as he thinks it would be a great human interest story. Marlena is saying her goodbyes to Roman and assures him that she will be back to visit him as soon as they let her. Next Abe, Larry, Capt. Donahue and Alice arrive with her bearing the donuts. Alice distributes the donuts but only Roman gets the one with the chocolate icing. He flashes back to Bo telling him how much he loves the chocolate donuts and he picks one of those and starts to eat. He watches her puzzled at what they are up to. They all start to leave though Alice hesitates watching Roman from the door. While still munching his donut, Roman screams and falls to the ground, clutching his chest.

12/2 Poor Mrs. H looks on in fear and guilt as Roman is writhing on the ground clutching his heart. Abe opens the cell door and Marlena rushes to his side. Roman appears to be having a heart attack and Abe calls an ambulance, we see Bo hiding in the back of the ambulance. Marlena is determined to go in the ambulance with Roman but Alice tries to stop her. Abe says she can go with the police escort as Roman is taken away by ambulance. Abe asks Alice to pray for him and she declares she has never stopped! Larry Welch is already talking to the press about Roman Brady's "heart attack." He then spins a wonderful tale about how the prisoners are not allowed any food to be brought to them and how he made a special exception for Alice Horton to bring Roman her homemade donuts. Abe explodes and rails at Larry that Roman could be dying, and all that Welch cares about is headlines.

Once Roman is loaded into the ambulance, Bo knocks out the other ambulance driver and desperately tries to wake Roman up. Bo is trying to get a groggy Roman to sit up. He tells Roman that he was drugged, but that he will be okay. The ambulance is stopped by Mrs. H's stalled car, which is blocking the road. Two officers escorting the ambulance go to assist her. Bo then helps Roman out of the ambulance. Back to Alice in her car saying to herself, "Bo told me that this button releases the fuel line" and the car takes off like a rocket. Marlena and the officers are shocked to find the ambulance empty when they arrive at the hospital. Abe makes calls announcing that Roman has escaped and puts out an APB and Larry is furious. Abe says he never would have suspected Alice Horton. Larry is puzzled that he doesn’t think Roman was faking the heart attack. Abe suggests that Bo is in this up to his neck with Alice. An incredulous Larry cannot believe it, "Alice Horton, Alice Horton? No, it can't be true!"

Later, Bo is plucked from the Park Cafe by a uniformed cop and brought in for questioning. At the PD, Abe grills Bo about Roman's escape. Marlena is terrified that Roman is sick and out there all alone. Bo assures her that everything will be fine. She promises Bo that he didn’t do this. She heard that he told Carrie that Roman is innocent so she knows he believes it too. A protesting Alice Horton is led in by officers, demanding to make her one phone call as she knows her rights. She says she does not have to answer any questions if she doesn’t want to. Mickey asks to speak to Alice alone. He suggests that it is in her best interests to cooperate. When Abe comes back in, she tells him that he has no proof of her doing anything wrong and that Abe cannot arrest her. This was a big mistake as he then arrests her for aiding and abetting Roman's escape and warns her this is a Felony.

At the police station, Marlena chastises Pete for what he has done. She suggests it is time for him to grow up and take responsibility for his actions (he kidnapped Melissa).

:3 mins Alex and his henchman plot to kill Anna.

12/6 Outside Anderson's, Anna hears a car in the dark and calls out for Bo. Nothing. Anna happens to look up and a heavily loaded shipping crate is being quickly lowered toward her head. She screams in terror. Anna takes refuge in a nearby car to escape the assassin. She drops her purse and he is able to retrieve the tape she is using to blackmail Alex (the tape of the conversation he had plotting with Stefano to kill Roman). As she hides in the car, the driver takes off and she realises she is in a car with Roman, an accused serial killer.
