Roman & Marlena #7 December 6, 1983 - February 23, 1984: 12 hour original edit

DVD #7A 12/6 At the police station, Joan happens to glance at the computer screen, which has four chilling words on it, "FREE TO KILL AGAIN." She quickly runs out of the station. The killer's hand seen wiping a knife blade on the leaf of a plant. A snapshot of Sgt. Joan Hopkins is nearby. Roman sneaks up on Joan with a large knife, and cuts her hand badly before fleeing. A wounded Joan staggers into Doug's Place. Doug calls the EMT's and Neil examines Joan's wound. Anna realizes that she is riding in the back seat of Roman's car and is scared. She tries to sneak out when Roman is looking for stuff in the trunk, but he catches her. Seeing Roman, she begs him not to kill her.

Anna and Roman hear a report on the car radio that at 10pm tonight that Sgt. Joan Hopkins was attacked by escaped killer cop Roman Brady. A shaken Anna begs Roman again not to kill her. Roman points out that at 10pm he was in the car with Anna and therefore could not have attacked Joan, or anyone else for that matter. He feels that he has been set up and vows to find out who is behind this. The killer is by the "FREE TO KILL" computer screen. It appears to be Roman, but then he pulls off a curly wig to reveal a bald head. Close up to the killer's jawline where he is seen peeling away face make up.

12/7 Anna and an in-disguise Roman are at a motel out of state. Roman asks Anna what she was doing outside Anderson's last night anyway and why did she sneak into his car? She confides to Roman that Alex tried to kill her last night outside Anderson's. She tells Roman about the tape she had which proves that Alex was in with Stefano on the attempt on Roman's life, and that she lost the tape. Roman quickly figures out that Anna was blackmailing Alex. He is livid that Anna had a piece of evidence that could have gotten Alex of the streets months ago, instead all Anna thinks about is money.

Marlena recognizes the knife used in the attack as one of her's and Roman's from their cutlery collection, and the knife also has Roman's fingerprints on it. A heartbroken Abe and Marlena tearfully hug each other and wonder how this has happened. Anna tells Roman that she did not have time to copy the tape, and besides Alex had Ty tailing her. Marlena holds a press conference at the Salem PD. She states how much she loves Roman and believes in his innocence, and tearfully begs him to come back home. Everyone in Salem is watching on their respective TVs. The press conference will be re-run that night on the news. Disguising her voice, Anna calls Salem PD and asks for Marlena. Roman gets on the phone and tells Marlena that he did not commit any of the murders. He then hangs up quietly so that Abe cannot trace the call.

12/8 Roman is trying to regain control of himself after breaking a vase in anger at the motel. Larry Welch tells Marlena that she did the right thing by having the press conference, after Bo screams at her for giving up on Roman by having the press conference. Abe tells Marlena to hang in there.   Roman soon realizes that he needs a contact in Salem, who can keep a secret and help him find the killer. Who else, but Bo? Roman and Anna argue about the tape again and the overwhelming amount of evidence and eyewitnesses  against Roman. Roman also wants to catch Alex so he can't kill Anna. Later Anna thanks Roman for saving her life. The next scene, the camera pans across the murderer's computer, the poisonous plant, two wig stands and prosthetic makeup. After a false, start, Bo and Roman finally connect. Roman asks about Joan, Carrie and Marlena. They agree to get in contact again the next night. Tony lends moral support to Marlena at his penthouse. Gene accompanies Marlena back to the police station. Marlena is soon devastated to find out that there is a shoot-to-kill order out on her husband.

  12/12 Marlena

12/13 Roman has disguises for him and Anna at the hotel. They miss Carrie and doubt that they will be back in Salem for Christmas.

Back in Salem, Carrie asks Uncle Bo where her Mommy and Daddy are? Carrie isn't eating and a concerned Marlena invites Hope and Melissa by to her house tonight to cheer Carrie up and also put up Christmas decorations. Marlena tells Melissa that she hopes that Pete gets the help that he needs. She and Melissa agree that Pete has a tremendous amount of potential.

Bo covertly calls Roman at the motel and informs him of the shoot-to-kill order out on him courtesy of Larry Welch. Bo also informs Roman that Carrie is upset that her Mommy is now missing. Roman fesses up that Anna is now with him, which perplexes Bo. Anna sneaks out when Roman is in the shower and calls Marlena's. Carrie answers and Anna tells her that she loves her and misses her and she is with Carrie's Daddy in California and will be home soon, not to worry and to stay happy. Marlena's jaw drops as she is listening on the upstairs extension. Marlena asks Carrie to promise not to tell anyone about her Mommy calling just now. When Anna returns to the motel room, Roman loses it for her making the phone call, and hands her a disguise and states that they have to leave NOW.

Marlena later takes Bo aside and hisses that she wants to know exactly why Anna is with her husband? She demands to know if Bo knew about this, and where are they? Bo professes not to know anything. Uncle Bo plays an impromptu Santa Claus for Carrie at Marlena's. Marlena and Don wonder why on earth Anna is on the run with Roman, and what's this about all of the "big money" Anna was supposed to be coming in to? Roman and Anna are in the car on the run again. Roman is in disguise with a beard and glasses, and Anna is disguised as a boy. They miss their little girl terribly and speak of her fondly. They turn on the car radio and hear the terrible news that Liz has been shot and is in a coma.

12/14 A curious Marlena asks Tony if he thinks that Anna helped Roman escape. Tony wants to keep Marlena and Carrie busy for the holiday season and draws up a list of activities for the three of them to enjoy.

12/15 Gene visits Marlena and tells her that he had a vision of Roman driving down a highway, across bridges, and through tunnels. An in-disguise Roman and Anna rent a room, in a house of ill repute! Bo has paid off the Madam, Clara to keep her trap shut. After warning Roman and Anna (remember, Anna is disguised as a boy) to keep away from her "girls," she rents them the Red Room. Clara immediately hits Roman up for more cash to buy her silence. In their room, Anna's constant whining is getting to Roman as he checks the phone for electronic bugs. Bo is still being evasive to Hope about what time their date is tonight.

Bo stops by Marlena's asking if there is anything that he can do for her. Gene accuses Bo of knowing where Roman and Anna are. He coldly informs Bo that if he finds out that Bo is withholding any information, he will make life miserable for Bo. Sweet Alice brings Marlena a pot roast. Gene makes a snotty crack about donuts, he apologizes before he leaves. Bo whispers to Alice that he spoke with Roman, and that Roman is okay.  A guarded and suspicious Marlena persuades a reluctant Alice to stay and chat. Marlena asks pointed questions about Roman's escape. Alice stonewalls her, then leaves. Don tells Marlena that he has agreed to represent Pete. Marlena's face lights up, she is thrilled as she believes in Pete.

Meanwhile, at the house of ill repute aka “Hooker Heaven”, a cop asks Clara whose car is that parked in the alley. Clara demands more money from Roman to keep quiet. Poor Roman is running out of cash. Roman wants he and Anna to hitchhike back to Salem. He figures that there are a few folks in the ISA who owe him favors, so they might be able to manage it. Roman calls Bo and tells him that he needs to dump the car and that he needs an alternate form of transportation. Bo mentions to Roman that he needs some advice and needs to talk to him in person.

12/16 Tony brings a stuffed Felix The Cat for Carrie. He talks Marlena into having dinner at the re-opening of Shenanagins. Bo picks up Roman, who is dressed as a hobo. Then, a man jumps into the cab and holds Bo up at gunpoint. There goes the money he was to give Roman! Bo is driving Roman back to the house of ill repute. They hear sirens, and see that the house is ablaze and realize that Anna is in the house!

Gene joins Tony, Marlena and Sandy at a packed Shenanagins. He tells Marlena that he lost Bo. Hope is trying to convince Chris that she is feeling sick and needs to go home. Chris relents and lets her leave so she can go on her date with Bo. Bo wants to tell Marlena that he has been seeing Roman, but they decide not to, to give her piece of mind. Tony and Marlena run into a bundled-up Hope by the riverfront. Hope tells them that she is meeting someone. A dejected Hope returns to Shenanagins and tells Melissa that Bo did not show up.

12/19 At the house of ill repute, Clara is trying to evacuate everyone due to the fire. Chaos ensues. Roman and Bo watch from outside as they see the smoke billowing out. Bo somehow finds Anna and whisks her out of there. Anna and Bo escape into the waiting cab. Roman notices an unmarked police car with a CB radio on the roof is tailing them, but loses them after an hour. Anna confesses to starting the fire at the bordello, because she needed a distraction.

Bo is curious why Alex wants to kill Anna. Anna and Roman explain about the tape. They also know that Alex has figured out that Roman and Anna are on the run together. They keep driving and Bo mutters that he did have plans earlier that evening. Anna stops complaining enough to ask about Bo about Carrie. Bo tells Roman that Marlena knows that Anna is with him, as she listened in on the phone call Anna made to Carrie. Bo drops an in-disguise-again Roman and Anna off at apartment occupied by one Nicholai a former KGB double agent whose life Roman saved. He sees that Roman is in big trouble and lets them hide out at his place.

Clara the Madam appears and tells Ty she lost Anna and Roman on the road, but her CB radio friends were able to track then down. Nikolai wants Roman to keep a low profile. Anna is parading around in a lovely green avocado face mask, and Roman is teasing her about it. Anna pulls the mask off, and BAM! It all comes to Roman. He excitedly tells Anna the mask is an exact replica oh her face. That's it! Someone is wearing a crafted latex mask made to look like Roman's face exactly. Cut to the killer's wig stands and a latex max of Eugene.

12/20 Anna and Roman marvel at the genius behind the plan to frame Roman for the murders. Roman leaves to find a pay phone to call Bo. Anna places an anonymous phone call to Salem PD and quickly tells Joan that Roman is not the murderer, and that is some guy in a latex mask made up to look like Roman. Joan does not tell anyone on the force about this phone call. Hmm. When Roman returns, Anna tells him about the anonymous phone call that she placed to Salem PD. Roman goes ballistic, then feverishly goes through Nikolai's closet to find some more disguises. The camera pans on a police officer's uniform and a gun in the front seat. Cut to a latex mask of Eugene on wig stand, and a snapshot of Gwen nearby.

Ty, dressed as a cop, has a search warrant for Nicholai's apartment. Anna and Roman are hiding in the closet. When Ty looks in there, they are gone. A disgusted Ty leaves. Anna and Roman emerge as the closet had a fake panel. Anna tells the guys that she recognizes Ty's voice. Anna calls Salem PD again to come get her, while Roman is in the other room. She tells them she is in Junction City and to meet her at the storage depot at 6pm. Anna and Roman are in disguise as security guards. Nikolai has arranged a driver to spirit Anna and Roman away to a cabin in the woods. Anna swipes Nikolai's car keys. Roman and Nikolai realize it and follow her to the storage depot. Joan took Anna's call and tells Abe, he calls the Junction City Sheriff. Roman shows up while Ty is shooting at them, snatches Anna, then drives away. Roman figured out that there is a fink on the Salem PD. How else would Ty know where Anna was going?

12/21 Quality improves with this episode. Roman calls Bo and requests a clean car, clothes, and some cash and sets up another meeting. Marlena and Tony are with Carrie outside. She falls and hits her head and is unconscious. Bo comes upon them and has to rush off. Marlena, Abe and Tony wait for word on Carrie’s condition. Marlena is stressing out at the hospital worried about her step-daughter. Tony and Marlena visit a comatose Carrie in her room. Marlena tells her she has to get better because her Daddy is coming home soon.

Bo meets an in-disguise Roman. Roman tells Bo there must be a leak in the Salem PD, as Tyler Malone was right there shooting at Roman and Anna. Bo hesitantly tells Roman about Carrie being injured. Amid Bo's protests for his safety, Roman decides to to go University Hospital to visit his daughter. Bo calls an exhausted Marlena at the hospital, and says how sorry he is that he cannot be there. Marlena continues to guilt trip him about it. Roman is bound and determined to get to the hospital to see Carrie. Bo thinks he is nuts and they almost come to blows.

12/22 Marlena and Tony have been up all night with Carrie at the hospital. Bo walks in and Marlena has a go at him for not being there last night when Carrie needed him. Hope and Alex want to give Howie Hoffstedder a gift basket. They knock on his office dorr, no answer. On the other side of the door, Roman is hiding in Howie's office! Hope and Alex leave the basket, which Roman swipes, once they leave. Roman opens the card to the gift basket, that reads "Merry Christmas to the Less Fortunate of Salem." While Marlena is hassling Bo on his whereabouts last night, Tony can tell that Bo is sincere that he really did have something urgent to do. Bo visits Carrie and tells her he wanted to be there last night, but he couldn't. Marlena comes in and tells Bo that Carrie might need surgery, and Bo is visibly upset. He manages to steal some scrubs from a nearby laundry cart.   In Howie's office, Roman is gorging himself on goose liver pate from the gift basket and Bo shows up and joins him. Roman asks about Carrie's condition, and Bo informs him she is still comatose. Bo gives Roman the surgical scrubs that he stole for a possible disguise. At the hospital, Chris tells Marlena she should go get some fresh air,and they go to the Park Cafe for a coffee, while Tony stays with Carrie. Chris tells Marlena that Melissa believes in Pete, and Marlena says that she does as well. A shaken Melissa tells Chris and Marlena that Pete's parents have about given up on him and he will be taken to the Youth Authority. Chris doesn't want Pete going there, and vows to talk to Pete's parents.

Bo seeks out Alice at the hospital, and they are whispering. She clutches her heart and asks him, "What are we up to now?" Bo brings Roman a disguise. Santa (Roman) finally shows up and Abe thanks him for filling in. Roman as Santa is avoiding having Abe or any other of the cops look to close to his face-due to the shoot-to-kill order. They also run into Joan and Roman also avoids direct eye contact with her. Santa then goes to join the party. At the Park Cafe, the waitress hands Joan a Christmas Card. It is a thick envelope that looks like a lot of money is in it.

12/23 Marlena is in Carrie's room while Santa/Roman distributes gifts to the children to the strains of "White Christmas." Marlena wishes Roman was here to see all of this. Even Santa/Roman's eyes are a little misty. Tony expresses concern for Marlena's health as she had a few dizzy spells. Tony takes her to see a doctor. Everyone sings "Deck The Halls." Bo's stands guard while Santa/Roman sneaks in to Carrie's room laden with gifts. He begs her to wake up as he strokes her hair. He tells her "The Christmas Story." He breaks down crying and the music builds to a crescendo. Carrie opens her eyes and whispers, "Daddy." Roman had pulled off his beard by then.

Roman tells her that she has been asleep for two days and she is in the hospital. She then asks him if he killed all of those people. Of course he says no, and Carrie believes him as he has never lied to her. He puts his beard back on and makes Carrie promise not to tell anyone he was here today, not even Marlena. It will be their special Christmas secret. Later, Marlena is thrilled that Carrie is finally awake. Carrie mentions that Santa promised to bring her Daddy home. A suspicious Alex asks Marie exactly who played Santa at the party. Everyone thought that it was Dr. Rogers. Alex figures it out when he notices Santa only visited Carrie’s room. He calls Ty and tells him that Roman Brady was just in the hospital parking lot, and for Ty to get him.

Roman and Bo go to Bo's room to regroup, and discuss Carrie's Christmas Miracle. Roman said it was frustrating to be so close to Marlena and not be able to touch her. Hope pounds on Bo's door and Roman hides in the bathroom. She proudly hands Bo a Christmas gift and mentions that she found Santa's clothes in the hospital laundry room. Her gift to him is a tuxedo shirt to wear to her birthday party, as the party is black tie. He apologizes to her that he did not get her a gift. She produces a twig of mistletoe and they share a long kiss. Bo then makes a lame excuse that he has to to Christmas shopping and gets rid of her, and he and Roman leave.

Bo and Roman are on the road again, and discuss the leak in the Salem PD. Roman thanks Bo for helping him at the party earlier. Roman asks Bo about Hope and Bo admitted that she was not the other girls he dated. Bo wants to make the commitment but is scared that Hope will grow up and leave him as it has happened before. Bo leaves the car at the cabin. They shake hands and wish each other Merry Christmas, and Bo hitchhikes back to Salem. Alex is waiting in a car for someone. Alex wants answers and he wants them now. Roman Brady was right under their nose at the hospital and now he is gone without a trace. The camera turns toward, Joan! She admits that Roman fooled them all and promises that he will not get away again. "Thanks right, or your cash flow will dwindle to a halt”, growls Alex.

12/26 Tony has a arranged a horse and carriage for Carrie's exit from the hospital (not seen). Marlena reports that Carrie is thrilled to be back in her own bed. Marlena thinks that somehow Carrie knows that Roman is okay. Abe gets a call from the PD about Roman and Anna being spotted in the woods and he takes off. Back at  the cabin, Roman teaches Anna how to handle his gun after she causes the gun to go off. Roman is going stir crazy in the cold, primitive cabin. A ranger knocks on the door of the cabin. Roman answers and the ranger asks him if he heard a gunshot. He stares intently at Roman and thinks he has seen him somewhere before, and leaves. Back at the station, the ranger sees Roman's Brady's wanted poster.  Joan calls Alex to tell him that Roman and Anna have been spotted in a cabin four miles from the Ranger Headquarters. She then calls Abe over at Marlena's and tells him the same thing. Marlena knows that the phone call is about Roman and begs Abe not to shoot at Roman.

Dvd #7B Roman returns to the cabin and tells Anna that there is a lot of action at the bottom of the hill and they need to get out of there fast. Anna wants to get in the car but he points out the ranger knows that is his car. Bo and Hope bring Carrie Christmas presents at Marlena’s. Marlena tells Bo that Abe got a call from the station and Abe left to follow up the lead. Bo takes off from the kitchen unseen and they hear his motorcycle in the distance. Abe and the Salem PD rush into an empty and ransacked  cabin looking for Roman and Anna. Bo is pacing waiting for Roman to contact him. Roman calls Bo at his place and needs the next destination set up right away.

12/28 Bo escorts an in disguise Roman and Anna to their new hideout. Anna is complaining as usual. There is a hidden panel in their hideout that is linked to the Salem Library! Roman is set on doing research on artists who makes latex masks and where to get the ingredients for the, he also wants to bone up on the occult, Haiti, and poison. Roman apologizes to Bo for the disruption this is causing to Bo’s life with the family, Hope, and Marlena. Bo tells Roman that he is going to Hope's 18th birthday party and that Howie invited himself to the party as well.  Bo mentions he will be wearing a tux and Roman snickers. As Bo is getting ready to leave, Anna thanks him for getting them out of that freezing cabin. She declares that she doesn’t know what they would have done if he didn’t show up. After Bo leaves, Anna thanks him as well and acknowledges that he saved her life.

Roman goes through the hidden panel to the Salem Library and begins his research. Anna hears a song on the radio and flashes back to when they first met at the same library when she was a student assistant. Roman busies himself with research while Anna reminisces. Anna finds a book of poetry that Roman used to read to her, but he flatly tells her that he is trying to work. Bo comes to the hideout with the interesting news that Ty Malone has disappeared. Anna worries about Carrie and misses her. Bo assures her she is recovering. Later, Anna lays in bed with a big smile on her face. Anna insists on him using the bed and getting a good night’s sleep. She is eager to have him join her, but her plan goes awry when he gives her his tip on making her bed on the floor more comfortable (this is NOT what she had in mind).

12/29 Marlena confronts Bo at his room, demanding to know if he is lying to her about not knowing where Roman is. She begs Bo for help and wants to know where he is and why Anna is there with him, and what does Bo think about that? Bo reassures Marlena that Roman will always be hers and only hers and that he knows Roman loves her. After Marlena leaves, Bo calls Roman to tell him that he has a tail on him, but he will be there as soon as he can.  Bo tells Roman that Marlena is being torn apart knowing that Roman is with Anna 24/7. Bo also shows Roman how you can make a latex from a photographic image. This leads to poor Roman getting frustrated about getting set up. Roman and Anna do research on Voodoo, poison and Raven feathers.

12/30 Tony is escorting a reluctant Marlena to the party. At his penthouse, Tony tries to cheer Marlena up with a glass of champagne but she admits to not being very excited to go to the party. They make a brief appearance at Hope’s 18th birthday, we see them arrive and he is quite complimentary towards Liz, surprising her. Soon they are back at Tony’s penthouse for a nightcap.

1/4 Reduced Quality. Anna takes money out of Roman’s wallet and heads into the library. Roman wakes up when she sets off the alarm. He runs out and grabs her and brings her back into the secret room. He set up a speaker in the library so he can tell if someone is in there before they open the secret door. He hears Marlena and Eugene talking and can’t believe she is on the other side of the door! They are there to do research. Marlena fears Roman is a killer after having a breakdown. Gene gets a vibe and heads to the wall. He tells her it is as though Roman has been there. Anna realizes it must be breaking Roman’s heart to hear that Marlena thinks he could be the killer.

Roman thinks Alex is behind all of this, and he was involved with Stefano when he tried to kill him. Roman needs to get into the secret room at the mansion so he can listen in on Alex’s conversations. Anna tells her she knows the way in, that it wasn’t sealed off from the tunnel side. Roman calls Bo and tells him he has to meet with him tonight. He tells her if he isn’t back by tomorrow night to call Bo and he will help her. He also warns her that Alex is the one who tried to kill her and she better believe that if she wants to stay alive.

1/5 Reduced Quality. Bo and Roman meet while pretending to work on the docks, using disguises. Roman gives him Anna’s list and Bo laughs. Romans says he can’t get her to understand how serious this situation is. Roman picks up that Bo is upset, and asks him about what is going on. Bo tells Roman about Doug's heart attack, and that it happened after he walked in on Bo with Hope. Roman tells Bo he is sorry, Bo is surprised not to get the big brother lecture.

Bo says he hasn't been able to talk to Hope since then as he doesn't want to take a chance on calling when Julie is there and he can't call her at the hospital. Roman tells Bo about the secret room attached to a tunnel at Alex Marshall's place. Alex and Marlena meet and he offers to donate a million dollars for a psychiatric wing. He offers her to be the chairperson of the charity. He suggests that they will need to raise more money. Alex sees Tony across the room and asks him to co-chair the charity and help fundraise. He brings Tony over to Marlena and she is happy with the news. Bo listens in on Alex’s study from the tunnel entrance and records the conversation.

1/6 Great quality. Bo brings Anna’s stuff to Roman. Bo has a bugged at Alex’s, and tapes his conversations. He takes the tape from Alex's over to Roman to report about an important meeting with Marlena for tomorrow. Roman is upset when he hears that Alex is meeting with Marlena, Tony, and Tom tomorrow. He is upset that Alex is drawing Marlena into his plans. Roman wants Bo to monitor the tape as much as possible. Bo isn't thrilled to hear this suggestion as the tunnel isn't his favorite place to be given the proximity to Doug’s Place and his chances of running into Hope & Julie. After Bo leaves, an ISA agent comes into Roman’s room. He knocks him out but is not happy to learn the ISA is on his trail.

When Bo returns later, the agent answers the door but no Roman. When Tony tells Marlena the date for the benefit is Feb 9th, Marlena looks shocked and suddenly faint as her legs give out from under her and she suddenly sits down. She tries to make an excuse to leave, but Tony wants her to tell him what the problem is. She shakily tells him that Feb 9th is her and Roman’s anniversary. Marlena goes to the hospital and brings a picture to Julie to offer her comfort. (Note: Doug is in the hospital recovering from the heart attack he had after finding Bo & Hope together on her birthday).Tony returns a call to “The Phoenix” and tells him that his suggestion is Marie Horton.

1/9 Marlena meets Eugene for dinner. He tells her that he thinks Bo knows where Roman is and that Howie is his cover. Liz tells Eugene while he is with Marlena at Doug’s Place, that Bo got a call from a Michael Brown. Eugene tells her that Bo is getting calls from this Michael Brown all over town, and they are suspicious that he is Roman! Bo tells Mrs. H that he lost Roman, and he tells her about the code name in case Roman calls. He tells her that she is the only person he trusts, that she has been in this with her from the beginning. He tells her about Michael Brown being the code name when Roman calls perhaps at Doug’s Place or Shenanigan’s. He tells her if he calls to ask him to call him at 2:00 am.

Bo gets a call from Michael Brown as Eugene & Marlena listen in, wondering if that is Roman. When Bo leaves, Eugene and Marlena follow him. Bo notices the tail and tries to lose them. Bo goes to Eugene's and confronts them as he spots their tail and loses them, but then is able to follow them. He realizes it is Gene & Marlena and confronts them demanding to know why they are following him. Marlena begs for Bo to tell her the truth as she is sure he knows where Roman is. He swears he doesn't know where Roman is and that he hasn't been helping him.

1/10 Episode is missing, but had :10 mins of Marlena’s scenes. No way of knowing if any Roman scenes were missed.

1/13 Some glitchy spots on episode, rest good quality. Bo goes to see Roman and Anna, they are all disguised as monks hiding out in a monastery. Anna wants to go back to Salem but Roman says no way. He wants to send her off to Europe to hide out. Bo tells Roman that he has decided to break up with Hope, but that he doesn't told her yet. Roman worries this decision is because of Bo's involvement with Roman. Bo says that is part of it, Doug's heart attack is also part of it. When Roman notices Bo carrying a gun, he demands to know if he is license to carry a concealed weapon. Bo admits he isn’t and Roman knows how hard that is to get. Later Anna tries to sneak out determined to go back to Salem and help Roman like Bo is. He wakes up and stops her and takes her shoes away.

1/16 Roman & Anna still hiding out as Monks and Anna is complaining about everything. Roman warns her if she is spotted, she will be taken in for questioning and he is worried about what answers she might give. Bo goes to see Roman who wants to know where he has been and why he is so late? He tells him that he spent the night in jail on a weapon’s charge. He tells him about Larry's help (he changed his tune when Hope arrived - didn’t include). Roman doesn't like Larry’s sudden help anymore than Bo does. Bo assures Roman that he shook Larry’s tail. They are making plans to get Anna out of the country on a flight to Lisbon.

1/17 Gene tells Marlena the Baka is lost. We see that Tony has the Baka. They arrive at Tony’s looking for it and Tony denies seeing it. Eugene gets a very strong vibration about something big and asks Tony if he ever learned who lived here previously? Tony says no.

Roman’s monk friend arrives and they discuss the Baka as Roman is filled in on how the Bradford’s great fortune was lost to the DiMera’s and the Baka has disappeared for decades to reappear last year. Roman shares that the Baka was given to his friend Eugene Bradford. He also informs Roman that the Bradford crest was a raven and a feather, and the DiMera crest is a leaf and a sword. Roman declares he has to leave and find the Baka. Roman calls Bo and tells him he wants to meet, but only after Bo gets a hold of Eugene’s Baka. Bo points out that Eugene keeps the Baka locked up and offers that Marlena had pictures of it in order to help him. He believes that he can get the pictures from Marlena’s.

Marlena and Eugene arrive back at her place and find Bo there. He says he is delivering a cake and heads out. Eugene suggests that they offer a reward for the Baka. Marlena remembers that she has pictures of it and they can use that for the reward. She is shocked to find the pictures are gone and points out that Bo was just there and wonder if he could have taken them. Eugene gets a vibe that something big is happening and there is danger in the air. She worriedly asks if Roman is involved and he says yes, and other people as well. He says he knew all along the Baka was involved in the murders and now he is sure of it. Marlena shakily asks if there is going to be more murders and he says yes there will be. Marlena asks Tony if he has found the Baka? When he says no, she shares that her pictures of it have been stolen from her home. He seems greatly concerned for her safety and offers to post a guard at her house. She says no that if Roman tries to come home, she can’t have a guard there.

Bo takes the pictures to Roman, and he fills Bo in on the history of the Baka. It was given as a wedding present to a Bradford and when the marriage fell apart, a good chunk of their fortune was lost to the DiMeras. Since then it has been a negative force for the Bradford’s and a positive force for the DiMeras. Roman believes there is a link between the Baka and the murders. Roman believes the mythical bird in the crest is the Phoenix. Tony is on the phone and shares that Phoenix liked his suggestion that Hope Williams is the next victim.

1/18 Roman explains the Baka to Bo. Bo tells Anna she is leaving the Monastery. She begs to stay and help. Roman tells her he can’t trust her and he won’t be safe while she is in the country. Bo takes Anna away and after they leave, Roman finds a note from her that she is not going to leave the country but will stay and help him and he will be able to contact her through Bo. Bo stops at the gas station so Anna can change out of her monk’s robe back into street clothes. Roman jumps in Bo’s car and tells him that Anna got away from him. He found her robe in the bathroom with an open window, so she gave Bo the slip. They head to Alex’s figuring that is where she would head. They decide to use Charlie as the new code name. Bo runs up to the door and grabs Anna just as she has run the bell. Joan and Alex answer the door. Joan says Anna is going with her. Bo declares she isn’t going anywhere with Joan. Anna and Bo are at the door as Roman speeds off in the car.

1/19 Bo claims Anna is in no condition to go to the PD with Joan. She agrees to allow her to stay at Alex’s but she wants to question her soon! She believes Anna may have information about Roman’s whereabouts. When Bo and Anna are alone, he is furious with her for putting Roman at risk. Now he is in Salem alone with no disguise! Anna cries begging to stay and help Roman. Bo realizes she is still in love with Roman. She says she is better for him than his wife who thinks he is a killer! She talks him into letting her stay at Alex’s so she can spy and learn Alex’s role in all of this.

Bo meets up with Alice and tells her that Roman is back in Salem and Anna is at Alex’s. He tells her that she is the only one who knows what is going on and he needs her help. He shares that the new code name in case Roman calls looking for Bo, it is now “Charles Vincent” and Bo wants her to find out where he can meet Roman. Just after Bo leaves, Roman calls her from Howie’s office and asks her to tell Bo to contact him at “the office” and that Bo will know what that means. A security guard comes in and finds Roman and immediately calls the PD.

Tony is discussing that the Baka is a key according to Phoenix. The “Phoenix” calls Tony and he responds “Consider it done”. The news alerts that Roman Brady is on the loose in Salem and to lock their doors. We see a secret room, a computer, killing paraphernalia, and a Roman mask and hair as Tony is revealed as the killer as he reads the computer message, “Another will die before dawn”. Tony laughs that he is sorry Hope Williams!

1/20 Alice finds Marlena and tells her that she has been looking all over town for Marlena. She reports that Roman has been seen in Salem and the police know he is here. Marlena worries over a shoot to kill order. Marlena and Hope talk, Hope suggests to Marlena that maybe Larry can help. Marlena doesn't want to ask Larry for help, and doesn't trust him. Larry rushes in and says he was spotted at Howie’s office. Marlena demands that he rescind the Shoot to Kill order.

Bo confronts Abe and demands that he wants him to ease up on the dragnet in his search for Roman. Joan sees the latest computer message about another murder tonight. Bo is furious when Abe calls out the SWAT team to go after Roman. Marlena comes in begging to know if there is any news at all? Marlena tells Abe that she has to talk to him. Abe says Roman is too smart and could be anywhere, that he has slipped through all of their roadblocks. Marlena wants to go with Abe and begs him not to shut her out that she knows she could help him. Abe says no, that there might be shooting! Eugene asks for Bo’s help in getting Marlena out of the PD by the backdoor as the place is crawling with paparrazi. Tony is parading around in his Roman disguise just before Marlena and Eugene stop by.

Bo brings a freezing Roman some food and coffee at the warehouse he is hiding out at. He fills him in that Anna is staying at Alex’s and has not talked to the cops. Roman worries that she would let it slip that she was with him. Bo wants Roman to leave Salem as the cops are trying to kill him. Roman refuses that he will not leave town until he finds the maniac who is killing all of these people. Bo has an idea of where Roman can hide out and they can listen to the tapes. Bo assures him he will love it and it will be safe.

Marlena becomes frantic to get home in case Roman is trying to get to her. Eugene warns her that she will be putting his life in danger. Eugene asks her to stop panicking. He tells her that she is the last person he has as a friend and needs her to use her common sense, that going home is the worst possible place for her to go. If she thinks Roman will go looking for her there, then the police will be there waiting undercover. He continues that her phone is probably bugged. She feels trapped and he tells her that Roman will know he is taking care of her.

Bo and Roman are in their car and hear a news report about the city wide dragnet and roadblocks looking for Roman. At the same time that Roman is with Bo, someone looking exactly like Roman enters Hope's bedroom. The intruder pulls out a knife and Hope wakes up and fights him off and screams her head off. Larry & Julie hear her screaming from the porch and Larry races to the rescue. Larry decks Fake Roman, who slugs him back and takes off.

1/23 Roman declares things will get tricky now that he has been spotted. Bo thinks he is crazy to stay in town. Roman points what life would he have without Marlena and Carrie. He worries that she must be going crazy with all of the media attention and worries that she is going to break. He does not want her in the middle of all of this. Bo says he envies him his relationship with her. Bo suggests that she is probably waiting at home for him. Once Tony is alone in his car, he takes off the Roman’s disguise. As Hope screams, Larry rushes upstairs and decks fake Roman, but he gets away.

Bo takes Roman to Eugene’s to hideout and tells him about the trap door to the basement. Roman thinks he is crazy, that this is a terrible idea. Bo insists and tells him he will signal when it is all clear. Eugene is mad at Bo and tells him to get lost. Bo insists and pushes his way inside. Bo tells him that he isn't there to cause trouble. Bo tells him and Marlena that he has been looking for them to apologize. Marlena lectures Bo for taking off from the PD that nothing is more important than family. Eugene asks if that is where Bo went, to see Roman? Bo denies it. Marlena tells him again that she wants to get Roman help, that she doesn't think it is too late for him. Bo assures her that he is just as worried about Roman as she is.

Bo gets Eugene to go into the kitchen to make Marlena something to eat and then gets Marlena to go in and supervise. As Bo is showing Roman where to hide in the basement through the trap door, Marlena comes back into the living room and Roman barely has time to hide. Roman finally makes it through the trap door. He can hear all the conversations from the living room up above. Marlena worries for the fate of Roman, that he is out there with a shoot to kill order. After Eugene and Marlena go back to the kitchen, Bo pretends he is leaving and goes through the trap door to join Roman in the basement. Bo shows Roman a false wall opens up to a secret tunnel. While in the basement, Bo overhears when Abe calls to tell Eugene that Hope has been attacked. Bo takes off immediately and heads to Doug's Place.

Alice Horton is reeling with the news that Roman is the killer. She runs to Bo when she sees him. She tells him that Hope said her attacker was Roman, that she saw him. Bo tells her he was with Roman all night, that Hope merely thought she saw Roman that it wasn't him. Bo admits something strange is going on. He is worried about Hope and heads up to see her. Bo returns to see Roman in the basement with his new disguise as an English professor/bird watcher. Roman is desperate to get back to Marlena, he is worried about her. Roman tells Bo that if everyone feels he is dead that the police will stop looking for him and, more importantly, the killer will be forced to stop killing. Bo warns him that they have to get to Marlena before she hears about Roman’s death.

Dvd #7C 1/24 (reduced quality) Tony and Deliah listen to a news report that Roman failed in his attack last night. Marlena is worried that they are considering him armed and dangerous. She is desperate to do something before he is hurt. Roman is listening from the basement and says he has to stop her. Bo grabs him and stops him but Roman knocks something over. Eugene hears that from above and goes into the basement, and figures it is just rats. Roman and Bo are hiding in the secret room in the basement. Roman is worried about the panic in Marlena’s voice. Roman tells Bo that he has to fake his death so the police will stop looking for him. Roman insists that he needs Bo to help him. Bo is worried about Marlena. Roman tells him in his plan that Marlena won’t hear about his death until after he has contacted her. Bo is relieved they are going to let Marlena in on all this and she will finally learn her husband isn’t crazy.

1/25 Bo meets up with Roman to go over the plan to rent the place. Roman snarks when he sees the disguise, “What am I supposed to be an English lord?” Bo and Roman are at a remote cabin that Roman has rented (while in disguise), their plan is to blow up the cabin and fake Roman's death.

1/26 Marlena runs into Don. He urges her to go home and get some sleep. Later he and Marlena have dinner together. Roman (in disguise) goes to look at a house for rent and immediately wants to sign the lease. The plan is to blow up the house and fake Roman’s death and a side benefit is the fact that the house belongs to Alex! Marlena arrives at Alex’s house. She walks in to hear Anna talking about going to see Carrie. Marlena tells Anna that she wants to know where Roman is and she wants to know right now! Bo listens in and records their conversation behind the on as she tells him she is too upset to meet with him. Bo listens in on Alex’s call regarding Roman to confirm the shoot to kill order is still out on him. Bo garners that Alex’s contact is in the Detective Division and female.

Roman has a flashback to moving in with Marlena, in happier times. Anna meets up with Roman, and he reams her for not going to Europe as planned. He wants her to get as far away from him as possible. She tells him that she is at Alex’s because of him, she is his inside man. He is worried that she is going to say something to someone, even by a slip up. She promises she will never betray him. She wants to help him so he can get back home to Carrie.

Bo enters and is shocked to see Anna there. Bo tells her that he doesn’t need her, he has a tape recorder. She tells him that he is wrong! She points out that she is pumping Alex for information and she is spying on Tony for them. She knows that Delia is up to something and she is going to figure it out. She knows Tony is hiding something and she isn’t going to stop and promises to be his eyes and ears in Salem. Bo plays the tape of Marlena talking about how much she misses Roman and that nothing will be all right again without him! Roman declares he has to solve these murders before they destroy all of them.

1/31 Roman dreams of a sweet reunion with Marlena once she knows the truth. Marlena arrives at Tony’s and Anna answers the door and acts as hostess. Marlena warns her that she didn’t think she was getting off that easily, she wants answers about Roman. Anna says that she has told Abe everything she knows. Tony chimes in that Marlena deserves to know and says that Roman is sick and needs help. Anna immediately defends that he isn’t sick! This perks up Marlena’s interest and she wants to know more about why Anna believes this? Anna defends that it is just a gut feeling.

Marlena warns her that there is a Shoot To Kill order out for Roman, and she will do anything she can to save his life. She isn’t leaving until Anna tells her everything! Anna says she just ran into him on a ski trail. Marlena snarks, does Anna expect her to believe that Roman allowed her to spot him and then waltz out of there to bring the police back to him? Tony points out that he killed six people. Anna swirls around and states that he didn’t murder anybody! Marlena is curious why she thinks she knows her husband better than Marlena does. Anna points out that she was married to him. Marlena wants to know how Anna feels about Roman? She says they were very close once. Marlena reports that she told Carrie several months ago that she still loved Roman. Anna raves that Roman is a wonderful man and is very special. Marlena realizes she is still in love with him.

Anna asks to see Carrie very soon. Marlena wants to get something clear about Carrie, that even though she has no legal rights she wants Carrie to stay with her. Anna reminds her that Carrie is HER daughter. Marlena retorts she is Roman’s daughter too! Anna declares that she will take Carrie anytime and anywhere she wants. Marlena warns her that if she pushes taking Carrie that Marlena will see her in court and waltzes out. Next Marlena meets with Sandy.

Bo arrives bringing the explosive device and detonator, supplies, disguises, and food to Roman. He knocks and calls out that he is looking for “Stanley Mortimer” (new code name). Bo is cranky and pacing, and Roman asks Bo what is eating at him, that he has been arguing with him since he walked through the door. Roman tells him they are in too deep for Bo to mess up. Bo tells Roman to consider everything Bo has already done for him. Roman figures out that he is talking about Hope, and staying away from her. Roman plans on telling his folks and Marlena that his death is faked. They go over the plan again and Roman stresses how important the timing is. He insists he has to get to Marlena immediately afterwards before she hears the news about his death. As Bo leaves, Roman reassures him that soon this will be over and he will be back with Hope.

2/2 Marlena stops by Alex’s and he asks if she will be at Tony’s party tonight? Marlena informs him that she isn’t there to discuss the fundraiser, but Anna. She wants him to answer questions about what Anna told him about when she first met Roman skiing. Alex doesn’t cooperate and Marlena warns him that she is sure Abe would also want to know the answers to her questions, trying to pressure him into talking to her. When he says that Roman is wacko, Marlena yells at him not to call him that and Roman needs help. He agrees to talk to Abe and tell him whatever he knows. Marlena is surprised that he is cooperating. Marlena is seen briefly at a formal affair at Tony’s with the other committee members. She tries to question Anna again. Anna tells her that she doesn’t have anything else to say to her, not now, not ever.

2/6 Tony calls Marlena and asks to meet with her. Marlena tells Sandy that she isn’t feeling well. Sandy suggests they go to HI, as if. Next, Marlena meets with Tony. He notices she isn’t feeling well. Alice tells Bo that Marlena is sick. He asks if she might wind up being in bed for a couple of days? Dr. H tells Marlena that she probably has a Step infection. He confines her to bed and gives her a prescription. Tony stays behind playing the concerned friend. Next, Alice is sitting with her and then Eugene arrives. (Do none of these people know how contagious Step Throat is? Marlena is a doctor! LOL Sweet Eugene has brought her a popcycle, a coloring book and crayons, and a origami kit. He just wants to cheer her up.

2/7 Reduced quality. Nikolai meets with Roman and they go over the plan. Bo meets with Roman next. Roman wants Bo to be at Marlena’s tonight when Roman makes the phone call. Bo says not a problem, she will be home as she is sick. Bo points out that tomorrow night, Roman will be home in Marlena’s arms.

2/8 Roman warns Bo that he has to make the call to tip off the cops. Gene tells Mrs. H that he hasn’t had any impressions at all about Roman. A concerned Marlena does down the stairs and asks Gene what that means?

Tony/Andre talks to himself about his plan to kill Marlena to bring Roman out of hiding. He declares that will be the winner of Phoenix’s game as he holds up a pill. Cocky Tony tries to ditch Phoenix’s phone call but Delia answers it. Tony seems shaken that he is to find a victim somewhere around the lake. Tony tells Marlena’s picture that she has been given a reprieve, but only for a few hours. He declares as soon as the next victim has happened, then she will die! Delia later tells him his next victim is the gate keeper at one of the mansions on the lake, where Roman was last seen. Tony sends another computer message hinting about the next victim, “Catch me if you can”.

Bo stops by to see Marlena who gives him attitude. She is sure that Alice and Bo were in this together and if not for them, Roman wouldn’t be out there being hunted down like a wild animal. When Roman’s call comes through, Bo wants to know where Roman has been. Roman tells him that he needs Bo’s help now, he needs food, clothes and needs Bo’s help now. They know the cops are trying to trace his call as Bo and Roman carefully watch the time on the trace. They have set it up knowing the polio will have his phone taped and they set it up for them to find the empty house he is hiding out in. Before Bo agrees, Roman hangs up in pretend frustration.

This sets up for the cops to be at the house as it explodes, part of their plan to fake Roman’s death. Abe gets the call with the coordinates of the traced phone call. He soon enters the cabin, gun drawn and comes face to face with Roman! Some one runs up to Tony/Andre’s car (he is in his Roman disguise) yelling to get help that someone has been stabbed! The man is shocked to see “Roman” and runs off yelling. Abe enters the room Roman is in, gun drawn.

2/9 Scene distortion. Abe confronts him. Roman tells him he will have to kill him. Abe says he didn’t go to all the trouble to find him to see him dead. Abe promises to protect him with his life but Roman points out he can’t with the Shoot to Kill order. Abe says he isn’t leaving Roman, he has been his partner and his friend. Abe warns him that he will come peaceably or by force. Roman threatens to shoot Abe if he doesn’t leave. Abe doesn’t believe he will shoot him. He reminds him that he was the best man at his wedding and asks him if he remembers that? Roman says of course he does and informs Abe that he isn’t crazy. Abe tries to reach him and how much his friends, and family love him and want him home safe.

Abe asks him to come out with him and he will take care of him. Roman says if he would do that for anyone it would be for Abe, but he can’t do that as he didn’t kill anyone. Abe asks him not to force him to shoot him, because he will! Abe tells him he is sick and not responsible for the things he did, and he can get help. Roman says that if they lock him up that he won’t be able to find the real killer, as he didn’t kill anyone. Roman has to catch the man who has convinced Abe that he has killed people in cold blood. Abe cries that it took him a long time to believe Roman was a killer but points out all the evidence with eye witnesses, ect. But now he is facing Roman, it is damn near impossible to believe.

Roman tells him this is part of some huge plot and someone is setting Roman up, someone with a great deal of power and money. Abe asks how could that happen? Roman tells him someone is impersonating him with a mask that looks exactly like him. Roman goes on to tell him that Anna was with him when Joan was attacked. Roman tells him no way that he can let him take him in and to shoot him if he has to. Roman puts his gun down and tells Abe to go ahead and shoot him if he has to. Abe can’t shoot him and puts his gun down. Roman hopefully asks if he believes him? The friends hug.

A news report comes on about the latest victim found stabbed death and time of death around midnight. They report Roman Brady spotted leaving the scene of the crime. Abe declares that Roman was here with Abe at midnight. How did someone see him on the north shore? Abe believes him and asks, “What are WE going to do?”. A relieve Roman says that sounds so good to hear. Abe returns with information about the murder and fills Roman in. Abe doesn’t know how Roman has been able to deal with all of this for all of these months. Roman tells him that there won’t be anymore murders after tomorrow night. Roman can’t tell him, just asks him to trust him.

Abe wants in and Roman warns him that this could endanger his career and the more Abe knows the more danger he is in. Abe uncovers the explosive device and tells Roman he isn’t going anywhere. Abe questions what Roman is going to blow up? Roman tells him that every time Roman is spotted, it gets into the news and the killer claims another victim. If Roman is “dead” then the killings will stop. Abe puts his hand on his shoulder, and calls him “partner” in a heartfelt moment.

2/10 Roman speaks with his Russian friend, Nicolai, about the plan. Tony calls Marlena, and is happy when she reports to taking her prescription as he handles the pills he has for her. Tony stops by to visit Marlena and switches her pills. Bo meets Mrs. H at Shenanigan’s and asks her to have Marlena be home alone tonight. Her job is to protect Marlena from not hearing about Roman’s death. He asks her to use whatever excuse she has to, Marlena is sick ect but not to let anyone in to see her after the time of the explosion. Alice calls Tony and tells him that she made Marlena dinner so he doesn’t need to bring her anything. He still wants to visit, and she determinedly says no that Marlena needs her rest and even Alice is going home so Marlena will be alone. Tony completely disregards Alice’s call and shows up at Marlena’s with a basket of food.

Hope has overheard Bo on the phone and enters the house just before it is scheduled to explode. Roman is shocked to find Hope at his door looking for Janet (she thinks Bo is meeting her there). When Bo arrives, he is shocked to see Hope’s car there and runs into the house. Abe is also arriving at the same moment. He gets out his bull horn and demands Roman come out of the house. Bo grabs Hope and gets her out, Roman grabs the detonator and runs and the house explodes.

2/13 Gene has a vibe about Marlena being in danger just as Tony hands her the pills. Tony has a suicide note on Marlena’s stationery in his pocket. He is restless as Marlena stalls on taking her pills. She is just about to take it when Eugene pounds on the door, ringing the bell repeatedly. Tony grabs the poison pills and puts her real pills back on her side table.

Alice comes over and tries to stop Eugene from bothering Marlena. He urgently tells Alice that Marlena is in danger. Alice is sure the danger is from Gene and orders him to leave. He refuses and is relieved when Marlena answers the door. Alice is shocked to see Tony come downstairs. He claims he was concerned about Marlena. She has had it with both of them and says she has been a doctor’s wife and a mother longer than either of them have ever been alive and she says that Marlena should be alone. She demands that they both leave right now! Alice stands at the window and gasps in a fake scream that she just saw a burglar going into her house. Both Tony and Eugene run out and she locks the door behind them. Alice pretends she is calling the police to report a burglary at her house. She sends Marlena up to bed and then heads home.

Bo and Hope are knocked to the ground and hit by flying debris as the explosion rocks the house. Hope becomes hysterical over Roman as the house burns. A panicked Bo tells Abe the car is still here that Roman didn’t take the car though they are worried he didn’t make it out okay. Bo says maybe Roman decided it was safer to walk over there. After a body is found, Bo and Abe worry that Roman died in the explosion. Abe calls Marlena and asks how she is feeling and asks if there is anyone there with her? She tells him that Alice thinks she saw a burglar was breaking into her house. He asks her to stay in her home and not talk to anyone, that he will be right there. Abe goes to Marlena's and tells her that there was an explosion and Roman was killed. Beautifully acted as Abe shares his grief over losing his friend and Marlena’s grief stricken reaction. He tells her they are “almost” positive that he was killed as he was in the house just before the explosion. She asks if there is a possibility that he got away? He tells her they found a body. She wants to know if it was identified. Abe tells her they have to face facts, Roman is gone. He hugs her and they cry in each other’s arms. Alice watches the evening news and sees the report that Roman Brady died in an explosion and bursts into tears.

2/15 In the morning, Marlena is still hoping that Roman is alive. At the PD, the Coroner identifies the body and tells Abe that it was Sgt. Roman Brady. Doug & Julie arrive with a basket of food for Marlena. Abe comes over to tell Marlena the heartbreaking news, that the body was positively ID as Roman. She shakily says she should make arrangements for a small memorial service.

2/16 Don has arrived and remains by Marlena’s side as Tony arrives to offer his comfort. Marlena continues planning the service. Later when Bo arrives, Marlena stares daggers at him. She tells him it is about time that he showed up to tell her what happened. He admits he has been with Roman the whole time. She realizes he has been lying to her. He defends that Roman made him promise. Marlena cries that Roman would not have put her through this. She says Roman is sick and needed help. He tells her no that Roman did not kill anyone and he died trying to prove his innocence. Bo tells her that he can prove Roman’s innocence.

Marlena reminds him that she SAW Roman after he killed someone. Bo shares that he was with Roman the night that Hope was attacked. He says that someone was using a very high tech latex mask to impersonate Roman. She laments that she could have helped him, if only he had called her. Bo reminds her that he DID call her that day at the PD after she did the on air plea for him to come home. He told her then that he was innocent but she didn’t believe him. Marlena blames Bo that he should have convinced her, whatever it took. She lashes out at Bo for keeping the plan from her. Roman knew they were out to get him and didn’t want Marlena in that danger. Bo tells her that his death was an accident.

He describes how Roman set it up to make it look like he died so the killings would stop, and he was going to come to her that same night. He tells her something went wrong as he wasn’t supposed to be in that house. Marlena screams at him to get out! Marlena has a dream about looking for Roman, finding him under a mask and then he fades away as she cries out for him. Bo comes in and holds her in his arms, telling her it was just a bad dream.

2/17 Marlena wants to know what he is doing there. Bo says he slept on the couch as he doesn’t want her to be alone even though he knows how upset she is with him. He reminds her that was Roman’s idea to keep her safe. She laments that she could have been with him all of this time! Abe arrives and Marlena cries in his arms. Abe tells her that he retired from the police force. He has to tell the truth about Roman and he can’t do that while he is on the force.

He was with Roman that last night at the time the other victim was attacked. He can clear Roman’s name publicly. She seems to draw some relief in knowing that, but cries if only she could have seen him one more time. Abe asks her to keep this quiet from the press and asks her not to tell anyone, until he can tell the story. Abe tells her that it was Roman’s decision not to tell Abe to protect his career, and didn’t tell Marlena as he was worried about her safety.

When Bo comes in, Marlena yells at him again for lying to her. Abe intervenes that he didn’t want to, but it was at Roman’s request. Bo leaves, and Marlena knows Abe wants her to forgive him. Abe points out that is what Roman would want, but she cries that she just can’t. Abe believes she has an incredible capacity for forgiveness and he has no doubt she can. Next, Don and Maggie show up and tell her everything is taken care of for later after the memorial.

Later that night, Marlena is dreaming in flashbacks of her ski honeymoon with Roman. We see Don sneak into a darkened house and while Marlena is upstairs sobbing in her grief after her loss. Marlena is startled to suddenly see Don standing in her bedroom. He reaches up to his face and peels off his mask to reveal it is actually Roman! He tells her that he is alive and not guilty!

2/20 Marlena doesn’t believe it is him, that it is a dream, that he is the killer in disguise. He holds her and looks her in the eyes and assures her that it is him and he loves her. She cries as she looks in his eyes, afraid to hope that he is really alive and asks him for assurance. She is ecstatic once the truth sinks in, that Roman is alive. He tells her they will grow old together and kisses her soundly and holds her tightly in his arms. He says he wanted this for so long, to hold her in his arms. He had to have her believe he was guilty, he was protecting her.

Roman tells her she had to see the truth with her own eyes, that is why he came in wearing the Don mask. He knows she loved him, even when she believed he did such terrible things. She cries that she never stopped believing in him, she couldn’t. He says now the killer thinks he is dead, the killings will stop. He asks her to call Nikolai and gives him a coded message to inform that Roman is alive. After the call, Nikolai pays off the coroner that falsified the report of Roman’s death and tells him that their plan was successful. Roman tells her that he was standing too close to the house when it exploded and had a pretty nasty concussion. He tells her that Nikolai got him away. He is so sorry, he never would have gone through with this if he had known this was the outcome, as he didn’t want her to have even a thought of him being dead.

She points out that his family thinks he is dead and they have to tell him that he is alive! He stops her and tells her no, the killer thinks he is dead. If they announce he is alive, the killer will stop killing again (guess she missed the whole point of this set up). Marlena just wants to tell someone! He tells her the service has to go on as planned, and no one will suspect anything as long as she doesn’t tell them. She laughs as she guesses that Alice helped him and he confirms. She tells him that Bo’s heart is broken, and Roman sadly knows. She asks him about Anna and he tells her that nothing happened between them. He asks if isn’t it time for her to go downstairs? She goes into his arms and they agree they have been apart much too long. She just wants to lock the door and be alone with him, and they begin kissing.

A glowing happy Marlena goes downstairs as Alice and Don ask her if she will be okay at the memorial. Alice defends that Bo was there and he is suffering terribly. Alice says that Bo wasn’t going to come to the memorial as he feels so responsible for Roman’s death. Marlena is getting ready for the memorial service, and asks Roman if she looks like the grieving widow? She doesn’t want to leave him for even an hour. She says she can say she isn’t feeling well and can’t make the service. He warns her not to tempt him and begins kissing her deeply as she laughs in pure joy. He tells her that she has to go.

2/21 When Bo knocks on the door to see if she is ready to leave, Roman hides in the closet. Alice and Bo come in, and Alice notices her hair is undone in the back and suggests she fix it. Alice goes to the closet to get her coat as Marlena yells for her to stop. Marlena goes into the closet herself and Roman hands her a coat. Marlena asks Alice to take responsibility for taking Roman’s badge to the service to get her downstairs so she can say goodbye to Roman. They can hear Shawn yelling at Bo as he blames Hope for Roman’s death. Marlena comes downstairs, and Bo apologizes for all the shouting. Hope shares that she didn’t want to upset Marlena by coming. She tells Marlena that she isn’t going to the service. Marlena realizes what all the shouting is about, and tells them that they all made mistakes.

At the church, Abe is pouring out his grief to Marlena. He declares that the truth will come out today. Marlena asks everyone to leave so she can be alone with Abe for just a moment. Once they are alone, Marlena tells Abe that Roman is alive and wasn’t killed in the explosion. She tells him about Roman having a concussion and he is home safe right now. Abe gets tears of wonder in his eyes and hugs her in relief. Abe wants to rush out and hide Roman.

Marlena stops him and says he is perfectly safe where he is. She has a message for him from Roman. He wants to keep the original plan going and Abe can not exonerate him. Abe realizes it is so he can catch the real killer. He laughs in relief that Roman is alive. She tells him that only Abe knows he is alive. As he is walking away with a huge grin on his face, Marlena reminds him that he has to be sad. Abe knows he is going to make some fierce enemies today.

After Abe delivers the eulogy talking about him ending his life on the other side of the law as Bo looks at him in puzzlement and then becomes livid as Abe continues. Bo tells him he is a traitor to Roman to say those things after what Abe knows. Bo yells at him that he was supposed to exonerate him. Shawn joins in yelling at him as well. Abe tells Bo that he still believes that Roman is innocent but he can’t prove it. Bo says there must be another reason that Abe did this? Abe says that he turned in his badge but was given one more chance to rejoin the force. Bo snarks that he sold Roman out for his badge. Bo yells at him that Roman thought Abe was his best friend!

Later at Marlena, Anna approaches Marlena and says they have to talk about Carrie. Marlena says that there is nothing to discuss as Carrie is staying there with her. Anna says they will need to talk about this as now Carrie only has her real mother. Marlena ignores her and walks away. She announces to the room that she would like to be left alone and asks everyone to leave. After she is alone with Abe, she tells him that his eulogy was fabulous. They both run upstairs, and Abe rushes into Roman’s arms laughing with relief at seeing his best buddy. Abe gives him grief for not calling him and telling him he was alive. Abe calls and Roman tells him he knows where he wants to go but getting there is going to be a challenge. He tells Abe to get rid of Bo and get over to Marlena’s. When Abe gets there, Roman tells him he has to move fast. Abe will help hide him but warns him if anyone spots him then the plan is off.

Bo comes knocking very insistently and Roman determines it is time to tell Bo. When Bo enters, he doesn’t want to talk to Abe and is only there to check on Marlena. She warns him to prepare himself for a shock. Abe tells him that the explosion at the house wasn’t exactly what they thought. He sees the glowing looks on their faces and realizes Roman is alive and races upstairs. He squeals in joy and hugs his big bro. Bo is excited to start all over helping Roman. Roman tells him that he is fired. Bo is insulted but Roman tells him it is because of Hope’s constant involvement and Abe will help now. Roman warns him that he almost died due to Hope showing up. He reminds him too many lives have already been lost and he can’t take the risk. Roman tells him that he appreciates everything he has done. Bo is upset that Roman told Abe he was alive but hesitated to tell Bo. He wants Bo to be a buffer with the family and take care of their parents and keep Carrie in AZ. As Bo leaves, he declares that he is in this thing 100% and doesn’t care what Roman says.

Marlena is telling Abe that she is in and she is helping Roman this time. She refuses to be left out this time. Mr. H arrives as Bo is yelling at Roman upstairs. They excuse that he is talking to one of those pesky reporters. Abe heads upstairs to quiet Bo down. They continue to discuss it but Bo will not back down on helping Roman. He finally agrees but warns Bo that he can’t involve Mrs. H or Hope and as long as he is seeing Hope, that she will involve herself. Roman says he can’t ask him to risk losing Hope for him. Bo points out that Roman is going to have the same issue with keeping Marlena out of this. Bo says he was already killed a couple of days ago and Bo does feel responsible for that. Next Eugene arrives and tells her that Bo wants to meet with him at 5:30. Eugene asks her if she knows what is up with him? He is busy and has a lot of things to do. Marlena says Gene should meet with him, as he is hurting and in pain and maybe Gene can get him to go to the Lonely Hearts Club meeting. When Gene finally leaves, Roman comes downstairs and they head over to Eugene’s house. She tells him that he left his door unlocked. He notices she is holding Roman’s badge and takes it from her. He gets a very strong feeling that Roman is very close. Marlena reminds him he has to go get the sandwiches. As soon as he leaves, Roman comes out. He worries that Hope is never going to stay away from Bo. Marlena observes it is that famous Brady charm.
