Steve & Kayla #10 February 29 - May 19, 1988: 8 hour edit

DVD #10A 2/29 Steve & Kayla arrive home and as she fusses over him he teases her that sounds like little Miss Nurse Brady talking. She remembers he always called her that and she thought he didn't like her. He admits that he didn’t want her to know that he loved her and he couldn’t even admit it to himself. As he pulls her in to get close, she is uncomfortable and pulls away.

She starts fussing in the kitchen over what she can make for dinner. He stops her and tells her that he knows it is going to be a little hard for them for a little bit. He assures her that they are going to forget all of the bad things that has happened, as all of the bad stuff passes. He tells her this is going to be there home and they are going to get married. Steve assures her that they have all the time in the world, they will have a family together and they are going to grow old together.

3/2 Jo comes by and questions how Steve can move into the loft with Kayla when she is still married to Jack? She begs him not to do this as it isn’t right. He tells that Kayla is filing for divorce and just a matter of paperwork now. He tells her they are tired of hiding out and they don’t care what Jo or anyone else thinks about it. She tells him he is moving too quick and she worries about the press finding out about Jack’s wife living with another man!

Steve points out that Kayla deserves a little something after everything she has been through. Jo warns him that Jack is a public figure and when they press gets a hold of this, they will hound them. She suggests that he come live with her until the divorce is final and then he and Kayla can get married. She will take care of him and make him well and just stay with her a little while. He tells her he can’t turn his back on Kayla as she needs him there with her.

The sleazy reporter Canby rudely questions Kayla about what she did to Jack. As he hassles her, and waves his tape recorder in her face, she grabs it and smashes it on the ground. Abe comes in and sends the creep on his way. He pulls Kayla aside to sit with him and asks her to press charges against Jack.

A frantic distracted Kayla comes home and opens up the take out and starts tossing food around as he asks her if everything is okay. She tries to tell him that everything is okay as she is on the verge of tears. He accuses her of shutting him out and asks if he has to go down to Shenanigan’s to find out what happened? She breaks the dinner plates and he stops her and pulls her aside so they can sit down and talk. He knows she is dealing with something as he an see her running around, like she is avoiding talking to him. She gets up and walks away but he follows her. He reminds her that she taught him to trust her and not hold back from her and she needs to do the same with him. She softly tells him that he can’t help her, no one can. He takes her in his arms to comfort her.

She finally tells him about running into Canby. She admits to Steve that she feels as though this was her fault as she led Jack on and she led him to believe that some day she would make love with him. He says that if she is to blame then Steve is too. Kayla yells at him that it is NOT the same as he didn’t rape Steve! She apologizes for yelling at him, she knows he is just trying to help her and she shouldn’t have said that. Later she finds him up on the roof. They stare up at the sky and she tells him about making up names for stars as a kid. He tells her that when he was a kid he would stare up at sky and think about having a wife and children some day but all of his life they were nothing but dreams until he met her. She tells him they are so close to being together but she feels like something is standing between her and her dreams and for the first time in her life, she doesn’t know what to do, she doesn’t know how to make it better. He reminds her that counseling helped Adrienne when she was in a bad place. He knows he can’t help Kayla without help. She is initially resistant but he asks her to get some help. She agrees she should get counseling. They pick out a star to be their star.

3/4 Steve brings Kayla to the counselor, and leaves her. Just as Kayla goes to enter the office, Jack appears and tells her she can’t go in there. Jack tried to convince Kayla not to go in and questions how she could do this to him as he is so afraid of everyone finding out. He continues to insist that they were married and made love, that she led him on. She yells at him that it doesn’t matter if they were married, he raped her. She says she isn’t going to tell the world, but she has to talk to someone. He tells her that he didn’t know what he was doing that night, he was out of his mind as he had just found out about her and Steve. He apologizes and tells her how sorry he was and asks him to forgive him. She doesn’t really believe he means it and tells him that the only thing he is sorry about is what this might do to his reputation if someone finds out. He claims she won’t be happy until she has him nailed up against a wall and calls her vindictive.

Steve comes back and sees Jack yelling at her and tells him to get the hell out of her. Kayla determines she is going ahead and he hopes she isn’t sorry about it later. Steve tells him to go! As she questions it with the counselor she is told it is common in the case of marital rape to be confused about what happened. The counselor said that she couldn't forget that what Jack committed was rape. Marcus and Steve are eating at Shenanigans and Steve expresses his ambivalent feelings about Jack/Billy. Marcus and Steve return to the hospital, and Melissa tells them that Jack is sick and has a fever. Marcus suspects that Jack is rejecting the kidney. They're afraid it's a psychological rejection. Marcus goes to talk to Steve and Kayla about Jack and tells them that Jack is seeking forgiveness. Kayla said never, but Steve wanted to in order to save his life. Kayla left the hospital angrily.

3/7 Steve goes to see Jack to make "peace" to stop his body from rejecting the kidney. When Jack is resistant, Steve makes an impassioned speech. Steve tells Jack that he and Kayla are going to get through this just fine, but where will he be, living off machines waiting for another kidney to come along? Jack is cool and snarky, Steve gets angry and frustrated. Steve tells him that what he did to her, ripped her heart out. He hurt her a lot and she's fighting for her life. But Steve will be there for her, regardless of what Jack decides to do. Steve is fighting to be with her and one of these days they will be together and they will be happy. Steve warns him that if Jack wants to throw his life away, that he is the only person he will be hurting as it won’t make a bit of difference to him and Kayla. He doesn’t understand why Jack wants to throw his life away simply because he hates Steve. Steve says that he and Kayla will get through this and he just hopes that Jack isn’t dead when they do.

Steve brought home flowers to Kayla, and tells her he loves her as she sits staring into the fire. He doesn’t want to make small talk and really wants to know show she is doing. She is still mad that he went to see Jack and try to smooth things over. He just told him a few things that he thinks might help him stay alive. He tells her that Jack still needs to hear from her. She refuses to see him and says she would never forgive him. She already saved Jack’s life by marrying him, and all it did was get her raped. She said she would never forgive Jack. Marcus came by and lets them know that Jack is showing improvement and perhaps Steve’s visit helps. Steve asks Kayla if she understands now why he went. Kayla went upstairs as she didn’t want to hear it.

Later, Steve was throwing away the flowers, but Kayla put the rest in water. Steve tells her that he doesn’t know what to do, how to help her. She says nothing is working right now and he promises not to give up and he will show her that he loves her until he finds something that works. Show ends with a music montage to Frankie & Jenn kissing, Eve alone, Shane looking in on Gabrielle, Jack staring at at the ever present wedding picture of him and Kayla. He takes it and rips Kayla out of the picture.

3/9 Kayla is having a nightmare, where Jack and Steve are all buddy-buddy, the two of them against her. She wakes up with a scream, and when Steve tries to comfort her, she pushes him away. Steve doesn’t understand why she won’t let him hold her or make her feel better. She tells him that he can’t. He begs her to talk to him. She tells him she will try to get in to talk to Dr. Pine. He is hurt that she would rather talk to a stranger than to him. He pleads with her that he just wants to help her but she tells him that he can’t. She went to see Dr. Pine and told her how angry she is at Steve. She feels as though Jack is more important to him than she is. When she got home, she told Steve she was going to press charges against Jack. She wants him to have to face her in court and face what he did to her.

When she gets home, Steve tries to reach out to her again but she keeps pushing him away. She realizes that she is angry with him because of all the things he is doing for Jack. She tells him that up till now she's been doing things his way, and it's not working for her. She's now going to do what's best for her, and the first step is to press charges against Jack. The only way to get this behind her is to confront him publicly and she doesn’t give a damn about his political career or whether he finds out he is a Deveraux. He thinks she is out for revenge. She tells him she is doing this to help herself and she is tired of being a victim. He's not happy about it, but he tells her to do what she has to do.

3/10 As she opens the door to go to the police station, she finds Jack standing there. Jack strolls into the loft, asking for Steve. He's come to thank Steve for donating his kidney. Steve says don't worry about it, he would have done it for anybody, which is what Jack doesn't understand. He's not anybody. Kayla blows up at their friendliness, and says "I'm sorry" may be good enough for Steve, but it's not good enough for her. She's pressing charges. Jack freaks, and tells her everything that HE'S lost in all of this. Steve suggests they all sit down and talk about this, but Kayla isn't interested. She storms out. As Steve is about to follow her, Jo arrives, and Steve tells her that Kayla is going to press charges. Jo says maybe he's got it coming.

Jo and Steve continue their talk. Steve is torn, because he doesn't want to see Billy go to jail. Jo tells him he has to stop thinking of Jack as his baby brother Billy. She tells him that "Billy" didn't rape Kayla, "Jack" did, and Jack's a grown man and has to pay for what he did. Steve blames himself for playing God with everyone's lives and if he'd left everything alone, Kayla wouldn't have been raped. He says he may be torn apart, between Billy and Kayla, but he knows where he needs to be, and that's with Kayla.

At the cop shop, Kayla arrives at the police department and tells Abe that she has decided to press charges. Abe tells Kayla that she is doing the right thing. Kayla tells Roman that she is there to file rape charges. He looks heart broken when he realizes she is talking about herself. Here eyes fill with tears as she tells him it was Jack. He holds her as she cries. Roman asks why she waited so long, it has been weeks since the election and she wasn’t sure this is the right thing to do. He tells her that he believes her and Jack will face justice and not get away with this! He promises to help her anyway he can to get through this, that she will not be alone. When she comes out of Roman’s office, Steve is there waiting for her. She tells him it was the hardest thing she has ever done. Steve takes Kayla home and she tells him that she just needs to be alone. She trusted him when he told her that he would protect her and make everything all right, but she realizes he can’t. He couldn’t help her when Jack raped her and he can’t help her now. He begs her not to shut him out. Crying she tells him how sorry she is and runs upstairs sobbing.

3/14 Steve laments that this thing between them isn’t going to work. Every time he reaches out to her, tries to get close to her, she just pulls away. It is obvious to him that she is in a lot of pain and doesn’t want him around. He recognizes that she needs some time to be by herself. He just wants what is best for her even if it means him moving out. He takes off for a couple of hours to give her time to think about what she wants. She is sorry as she knows he is hurting too, but there is nothing anyone can do to make things better. He gets upset and tells her he wishes she wouldn’t talk like that. Steve laments that he didn’t stop Kayla’s wedding to Jack.

Abe arrives at the Deveraux Mansion to arrest Jack. He says it's all a lie, but is taken to the police station. Harper gets on the phone to pull some strings. Down at the cop shop, Jack is fingerprinted and photographed. Thanks to Harper's phone call, Jack is immediately arraigned and released. After Jack’s release, he heads over to the loft where he lets himself in with his key. He torments Kayla some more and says if he's going down, she's going down with him. They throw accusations back and forth at each other and he calls her a slut! He manhandles her just as Steve comes in. Steve hits him. Jack gives Kayla one more chance to drop the charges. Steve threatens him to stay away from Kayla or he would be dealt with if he came there again. Jack leaves with a snarky "See you in court, Kayla.” A shaky Kayla tells Steve that she is scared. Steve takes her in his arms and tells her it is going to be all right. He promises that he will never let that jerk do anything to hurt her again. Steve points out that Jack just declared war on them and Jack will get the fight of his life. Steve admits that he didn’t want to see who Jack really is, and he does think Jack will go through with his threats. Steve told Kayla he's on her side now, only her side. Steve asks if she is sure about pressing charges, that she can still change her mind if she doesn’t want to go through this. She tells him that Jack did something horrible to her, and she can’t let him get away with it. Seeming stronger, she tells Steve that she can get through anything with him by her side.

3/16 At the loft, Steve is reading the morning paper, where Jack's side of the story has been printed, making Kayla look like a gold digger who falsely accused him of rape. He reluctantly shows it to Kayla. Kayla angrily recounts to Steve everything that's in the article. Steve wants to go have a piece of Jack, but Kayla stops him. Kayla talks him out of going after Jack as that is exactly what Jack wants, for Steve to wind up in jail. Kayla goes to see Mickey. Mickey and Kayla talk about the article and Mickey says the case will be tried in court, not in the press. Mickey says that Jack's accusations are irresponsible, and as long as they're not true, they will win. Kayla confesses to him that she carried on the affair with Steve while married to Jack. Kayla tells Mickey everything about her relationship with Steve and with Jack. Mickey says his job just got a lot harder. Mickey says it's now up to him to prove it was rape. Marcus comes over and he and Steve talk about everything. Kayla comes home and says they need to prove Jack raped her. Marcus agrees to testify about the bruises he saw on her. She asks Steve if he will testify against Jack. Steve says there is no more Billy, there's just Jack, and Kayla comes first.

3/18 Jack makes some veiled threats to Kayla before the hearing starts, but she doesn't back down. Kayla sees Jo and tells Steve to ask her to leave. She doesn't want Jo to feel hurt or uncomfortable by anything that might get said. Marcus and Steve testify, things get heated. Kayla is questioned by both Mickey and Jack's lawyer. The judge renders his decision, there is sufficient evidence to hold Jack over for trial. Harper suggests that he plead guilty to a lesser charge. The two attorneys confer, and Mickey tells Kayla that Jack will plead guilty to assault in exchange for a suspended sentence. After much thought and discussing with Steve, she agrees. A steely Jack warns them when they least expect it, expect it! Kayla hangs tough though.

3/22 Jack is served with divorce papers. He vows that Kayla won't get out of this that easily. Kayla returns to the loft to find Steve working lifting weights to music in a torn 80’s style shirt. She eyes his sweaty rippling muscles and comes up to him and starts kissing him deeply. She tells him she is much better, she has filed for divorce from Jack. All she has to do is sign this paper and she will be divorced as long as Jack doesn’t contest it and why would he. Kayla gets a phone call from her lawyer informing her that Jack is contesting the divorce. Steve goes ballistic and wants to go after Jack. Kayla stops him, and says SHE will deal with Jack herself. She NEEDS to. Steve warns her to tell Jack that if he lays one finger on her that he will kill him. She leaves to go see Jack. Kayla is greeted at the Deveraux door by Anjelica who is snarky and sarcastic about Jack meeting with his attorney about the divorce. Angelica reams her for everything she has done to Jack. Kayla says that she can’t be so stupid or naive as to believe Jack didn’t do anything. She tells Angelica that she has never known real love and that is why Kayla pities her and leaves.

Jack arrives at the loft, and he and Kayla argue. Jack is cool, confident and snarky. Kayla tells him he may be able to delay the divorce, but he can't stop it. It doesn't matter, she and Steve will be together and spend the rest of their lives together. She tells him to go ahead and delay things, Jack will be the one to suffer. Steve comes home and overhears Jack making more threats. Jack stays cool and confident, while Steve gets angry and frustrated. Steve says he gave Jack back his life by giving him the kidney, why does he insist on making other people's lives miserable. Steve tells him he can do whatever he wants, but he and Kayla will be happy. Jack leaves, but promises them he's not through with them yet.

Kayla comes downstairs wearing her negligee and finds Steve is making dinner. She appreciates the things Steve said to Jack, he is just sorry he didn’t say them sooner. He could feel her slipping away from him and missed her. She just wants to concentrate on the future. She wants to do something to help other women who have been through what she has. She tells him there is a rape counseling course in NY for a week. He doesn’t want to be apart from her but understands that this is something she needs to do and he loves her for it. He serves her dinner at a beautiful candlelit table. As they talk about her leaving, he tells her being away from her for even one day is too long. He tells her how proud of her he is and kisses her deeply. He sweeps her up into his arms as “Desiree” plays and heads towards the fire with her. They definitely have their mojo back!

3/24 Lighthearted carefree scenes as Steve and Marcus cruise. Steve is playing the drums on Marcus’ dashboard as he makes him crazy. Steve is impressed with the nice ride. Steve jokes about ordering a pizza from Marcus’ car phone. They are off to meet Mickey to look at a place he has for rent. Steve teases him that the place isn’t up to Marcus’ standards as there are no servant quarters. Marcus meets and flirts with Officer Lexi Brooks who is there with Abe to look at the place. Marcus gives her first dibs being a gentleman but she says the place is more than she needs. He annoys Abe as he flirts and invites her to dinner. Marcus rents the place and he and Steve go out to celebrate. Marcus gets Steve to sing, “I Love You Baby” to a girl Marcus wants to hit on. This is a carefree singing and dancing Steve we have never seen before. Steve laughs as Marcus gets shut down. Steve encourages Marcus that if he could get a woman like Kayla that Marcus will find the right woman.

3/29 Steve and Kayla are checking out the new Community Center when a gang fight erupts. As two rival gangs are headed their way shooting while they are running, Steve grabs Kayla and pulls her down to protect her. Roman and Salem PD arrive with sirens and flashing lights. Steve yells at Roman that Kayla almost got shot. Roman gives Steve a job offer, but initially he isn’t having it. Roman and Steve both forbid Kayla from working in the neighborhood. A reporter tries to interview Mrs. Deveraux, and Steve demands she get the microphone out of their faces. Jack shows up, and is his usual snarky self to Steve & Kayla, ready to make a fancy speech. Back home, Kayla tells Steve that she will be working at the Community Center whether he likes it or not.

Kayla and Steve argue about her working on the riverfront. She tells him about her childhood growing up in that neighborhood and doesn’t like how it has changed. She is adamant and she is not stepping away from this fight. She wants to start a rape criss center at the community center. They hear lights and sirens going off in the neighborhood and Steve warns her that she is dreaming and she is going to wind up getting hurt. Steve finds Roman at the hospital and accepts his job offer to be a go between for the police with the local gang. Steve returns home and tells Kayla about his new job. She warns him not to take this job to look out for her as she can’t do her job. She is ready to argue about this but he isn’t in the mood to fight and gets frisky and starts kissing her. She laughs that she isn’t done fighting with him yet.

3/31 Kayla is confronted by a gang member at the clinic as he threatens her. She makes a move and his arms restrained behind his back. Steve walks in and throws him out. He warns Kayla that guy will be back and he won’t be alone. He tells her this isn’t over. Steve tells Kayla this is not over yet, since he fears the guy will return with others. Kayla is still refusing to quit, and Steve admits that the only reason he took the job with Roman was to keep her safe. Steve and Kayla get a visit from a mystical, homeless alcoholic named Montague or “Monty”. Kayla fixes his cut hand, and in exchange Monty offers to read her tarot cards. Steve doesn’t like it and tries to stop Monty, he says he already knows his future with Kayla. Between “The Crumbling Towers” and “The Nine Swords”, there appears to be trouble looming and there is danger on the horizon for our lovers!

He warns them to take the warning the cards are giving and to ignore the message at their peril. Monty is genuinely trying to help Kayla. Steve’s not really feeling it and he kicks Monty out as he tells her once again to beware. Kayla pretends like she wasn't affected by Monty's predictions on this dark stormy night. Steve hopes that Monty spooked her so she wises up and gets out of there. Two gang members stroll into the E.C. and Steve tries to protect her from them. They want to talk to her as she put their guy down earlier. Kayla inserts herself and says she will talk to them and they can work this out. Two more gang members enter and it is obvious they aren’t there to talk. Steve and one of the guys start fighting and Steve gets the best of the guy.

4/1 Roman comes to arrest the gang members for assault as someone called it in. Steve stops him and tells them there are no charges, these boys are his friends now. Roman turns towards Kayla for the truth and Steve gives her the quiet sign. Abe and Roman head out when Steve and Kayla refuse to press charges. Roman warns them on his way out. The gang members are suspicious about Steve’s motives. He says he was THISCLOSE to their lives and he does care about them. Steve hatches a plan for the Cobras and the Vipers to meet up for a fight at the E.C. on Tuesday. He tells the Cobras they are tough around women, can they take on the Vipers? They agree and head out. Kayla is rather miffed by this latest development and tells him that he can’t have a gang fight here! Kayla is still not speaking to Steve when they arrive home. He tells her he is doing his job in his own way. She can’t believe he set up a gang fight, he is supposed to stop the fighting not make appointments for them to get together to kill each other. Steve recognizes Kayla is tired and sends her off to bed. Once she is gone, he gets his gun out from a hiding spot.

Roman comes over to confront Steve about not helping him take the gang members in. Steve declares that Roman hired him to do a job and he is going to do it his way. Kayla comes downstairs in her nightgown, Roman tells Steve not to screw this up, he doesn’t want anyone to get hurt. Roman leaves and she goes into Steve’s arms as he gets romantic. He tries to send her off to bed but she isn’t having it, so he kisses her again. She knows that him and Roman are arguing over how he is doing his job. As she moves towards where he has his gun hidden, he pulls her back towards them. He tells her that he knows those kids and just as he is promising her there won’t be any trouble, her hand lands on the gun he has hidden on a scarf when Roman came by. She is not happy that he is getting involved in gang violence and they need to learn there is another way without killing and guns. He tells her that he isn’t going to need a gun and tries to kiss her again. She is still annoyed with him and says goodnight as she goes up to bed. He says to himself that he won’t use the gun if he doesn’t have to.

4/5 Steve has the gun on him and when she goes to kiss him good morning, she feels the gun in his pocket. Kayla wants to know what Steve plans to do with the gun he is carrying. He reminds her he is meeting with two rival gangs today and he needs protection, but reminds her that he knows what he is doing. Kayla arrives at the E.C. to find the construction of a boxing ring in progress. Kayla tells Steve that the social worker is coming over and Kayla needs her approval for funding programs and she will never get it with the boxing ring set up. The two rival gangs arrive and Steve takes control sending each gang to opposite sides of the ring. Steve says they are going to settle their little argument once and for all of who is the baddest gang member on the waterfront. He wants the best Viper and the best Cobra in the ring. He sets up the rules for the fight and they all agree as Kayla looks on very nervously, way out of her comfort zone. One of the other gang members gets in the ring and pulls out a knife. Steve pulls out a gun and shoots him. They all look at him in shock, and Kayla is stunned.

Steve continues that they will continue to be able to fight clean and fair. If they keep fighting crazy like, then they will be dead. He pushes the guy he just shot with his toe, and asks if they want to wind up dead like their friend? He has gotten all of their attention. He pulls the guy up having made his point. His friends are relieved to see he is alive. Steve tries again to get through to them that the way they are fighting these days, it could be anyone of them. He wants them to remember how they felt when they thought the guy was dead and not forget it. He makes a plan to meet up with them next week and tells them to stay out of trouble. After they leaves, Kayla tells him that she doesn’t know whether to kiss him or yell at him. She asks why he didn’t tell her about his big plan? He scared her half to death. He couldn’t fill her in on it as he needed her reaction to make it real for the kids. The social worker arrives and she thinks the boxing ring is a great idea to have the young men fight here rather in the streets. Steve gives her credit of the idea and she gets the go-ahead to create her own Community Center.

Later when they are alone together that night, she pulls him into the boxing ring and he helps her put on the gloves. She winds up and lets a big punch fly and slugs him upside the head. She tells him that is for tricking her and warns him not to do that again. He tells her she is kinda cute in those gloves. He tells her boxing isn’t her sport and takes her gloves off. He suggests that wresting is more her speed and drops her to the mat in a wrestling move as he continues kissing her as she giggles.

4/7 Steve & Kayla are at the new Community Center and he is teaching her how to hit a bag with her boxing gloves. He suggests she think of a particular person when hitting the bag as it helps. He snarks that he can give her a couple of names. Jack enters, and threatens to close them down. As soon as he heads outside, he is grabbed from behind by one of the gang members. Steve breaks it up and he tells the guy to get out of here and the attempted mugger runs away. Jack is horrified that Steve let him go. Jack says the center is bringing in more of the street punks, and Steve says the center will get them off the street. Jack accuses him of this being a set up that Steve arranged and restates his threat to close them down.

Steve and Kayla go back inside and Steve rants and raves that he saved the idiot’s life. Marcus calls and invites them to dinner. Steve accepts for the both of them, but Kayla says he should go on ahead as she has someone she has to see. Melissa meets Kayla at Shenanigans. Kayla tells her about the new Community Center, and Melissa is very impressed with everything. Kayla tells her that Jack is trying to shut them down, and could Melissa try to talk him out of it? Melissa agrees to try, but she can't make any promises. Marcus whines to Steve about his broken date with Lexie. Steve and Marcus watch Lexie flirt with all of The Cheatin' Heart's finest patrons. Marcus feels the need to play the hero and goes over to tease her about her working outfit. She pulls him aside and under her breath tells him that she is working and he is blowing it, as Abe and Shane come in under cover. When one of the guy’s gets too handsy with Lexi, she pushes him off and another two guys grab her. Steve and Marcus rush to the rescue as Abe holds back watching. They hear a scream as Lexie has cut her hand, and Abe busts up the party.

Steve & Kayla are at the Community Center and are watching Jack's press conference on TV. Jack tells the reporters that he was mugged there and Steve Johnson let the guy get away. Steve goes ballistic that after all he did for Jack, he turns on him! He vows to go to Washington to get the funding for the Center. Monty the tarot card reader bursts in and tells Steve he can't get on a plane. There's danger in the skies! Steve makes light of his warnings, but Kayla's concerned. She doesn't want him to go, he tells her not to worry.

4/8 Steve is still planning on flying to Washington, and Kayla is still worried. To appease her, Steve offers to put on a tux and accompany her to her parents' party for Shawn & Caroline Brady’s 40th Wedding Anniversary celebration. They enter the party, her in a formal black gown and he looking dapper in his tux. Steve is nervous when Shawn wants to have "a word" with him. Shawn, who has probably started drinking already, tells Steve that the last time they spoke, he had told Steve to stay away from his daughter in a very stern voice. He then laughs and teases Steve that he is glad he didn’t listen to him!

Roman comes in surprised to see Steve cleaned up and in a tux. Roman gets everyone’s attention and asks Franke (the newest member of the Brady family) to give the toast. Kayla then speaks to her parents, followed by Roman’s thoughts and they all toast the happy couple. Then Kim is prompted to add her loving tribute. They dance briefly but all too soon Steve is saying his goodbyes as he heads to the plane as “Unchained Melody” plays. Steve is in a hurry to get to the airport when Monty tries to warn him one last time. As the party winds down, Kim tells Kayla that she'll never give up on Shane.

Dvd #10B At the end of the evening, Calliope tells Kayla that Steve’s plane blew up after take off.

4/11 Monty’s prediction about Steve's plane came true. Kayla is disbelieving, and insists that he is not on that plane. She wanders down to the pier and runs into Monty. Then Steve falls from the sky literally as he is wrestling with some of the riverfront youth. Kayla is beyond relieved, and runs into his arms saying over and over, “Your are alive!” She tells him about the plane crash. He tells her that he was on his way to the airport but got a flat tire, Kayla says that it was almost like it was meant to be that he didn’t make it to the plane. Steve doesn’t want to hear any of that crap and he yells at Monty to stop filling Kayla’s head with his fortune teller crap. Steve tells him to stay away from Kayla and away from the community center. (She has VERY big 80’s hair!). He puts his arm around her and tells her that everything is all right. Monty hides under the dock stairs staring at his tarot cards and watching Steve and Kayla as they walk away.

Back home, a relieved Kayla strokes Steve’s chest as she tells him she didn’t think she would ever see him again, or touch him again, or kiss him again. It made her sorry for every time she should have been with him and wasn’t. He reminds her that he is with her now but recognizes that she is afraid now. He tells her that he will never hurt her and if she wants to stop at any time, it is okay. He asks her if she wants him and she says of course she does and rushes into his arms to kiss him deeply as he starts undressing her. They go to bed together as he promises to never leave her, that she will always be with him. Meanwhile Monty reads his tarot card and observes that Steve Johnson is surrounded by death as he looks at The Death Card. Kayla gets a sudden chill and burrows into the covers. A distracted Kayla admits that she can’t stop thinking about Monty’s predictions and maybe they should listen to him. He doesn’t want her hearing anything but him tonight telling her that he loves her, and showing her how much he loves her. He says this is it, just the two of them together. He holds her face in his hands and kisses her tenderly as the music swells.

4/13 Steve didn’t know if the center would make it but seeing how happy she is, he knows it will be a success. She shares that she never thought she would feel this alive again. Roman shows up with a warrant for Steve's arrest for the gun Steve flashed. Roman and Steve continue their bickering when they are interrupted by an emergency as one of the teens runs in asking for Steve’s help as their is a knife fight. Roman watches Steve turn a knife fight into a boxing match. Steve tells Roman he wants a gun with a permit. Roman snarks that he doesn’t even know if Steve knows how to handle a gun. Steve invites Roman to show him, so they go to the shooting range. Roman shows Steve proper police grip and demonstrates his skills to an impressed Steve. Steve shows Roman how to wield a gun joking about “proper police grip” and then shows his skills are better than Roman’s! It's a shoot off!

Kayla is hanging rape seminar flyers at the Community Center when she's hassled by Jack. Kayla should really get a restraining order. Kayla gloats to Jack that this proves that people are behind the Center. Jack assures her he hasn't lost, not by a long shot. He continues to annoy her when Steve arrives in time to kick Jack out and grabs him by the lapels. They get into a battle of words but Jack assures them both that he will win because he's a Deveraux. Steve accuses that this isn’t about the community, this is about his own private revenge against Kayla and he will win because he is a Deveraux. After Jack saunters out, Kayla snarks she has a hard time remembering that Jack is his brother while Steve can’t forget. Steve works his anger out on his punching bag to 80’s music. Kayla wants a shot at it and basically pushes into the bag and Steve overplays being knocked into the wall and slips to the ground as a concerned Kayla hovers over him. He laughs as she gets annoyed telling him that isn’t funny. He tells her he can think of a better way to work off all that energy and starts kissing her.

4/15 Jack and Melissa are outside the Community Center, where he's thanking her for "spying" on what's going on inside. She feels guilty, but does as he asks. Melissa starts her first day of spying for Jack. Inside, she finds Monty with Steve & Kayla, who almost immediately senses "sinister emanations in this room." Monty does another card reading. Something wicked this way comes! Steve is frustrated because Kayla is taking all of this to heart. Somehow, Steve still doesn't buy that Monty is psychic?

Outside, Marcus sees one of the gang members slashing his tires and he's furious. He's so angry he's ready to forget about donating his time to the Center and Steve is offended. Steve mentions Monty's "betrayal" vibes and jokes that Marcus might be the traitor, while Melissa stands there looking guilty. Steve decides to go out and talk to the "punk" that slashed the tires. The gang is congratulating each other on the job they did on Marcus' tires. Steve grabs one of them (It's Emilio!) and threatens him not to do anything like that again. Emilio jokes about the fancy doctor getting a few beauty marks on his car and Steve warns him that is a friend of his and if Emilio does anything like this again, he is going to make Steve real mad! Emilio tells Steve he can’t talk to a Sting Ray like that and get away with it. He warns HIM that this is Sting Ray turf, not Steve’s. Steve stares him down and jokes he is shaking in his boots!

Steve dramatically saunters back into the center, showing Monty that he is just fine. Monty snarks that the day isn’t over yet! Kayla and Melissa are going to the hospital to pick up supplies and warns Steve to be careful. As soon as they leave, Emilio saunters in with this gang and one is flashing his gun. They are there to finish what Steve started. Steve ends up in a face off with the Sting Rays. Kayla, Monty and Melissa return and walk in on them. Steve yells at them to leave, they do. Melissa runs off to call the police. Inside, Steve tries to talk them down and tells them he is sick hearing them blather on about their turf. Emilio is tired of his lectures and warns him now he is the teacher and Steve the student. One of the guys wants to just blow his head off. Steve observes the police are on their way, and they are already identified and must be eager to see what the inside of a prison looks like. Emilio says it will be a honor to go when he evens the score. Steve tries to talk them down by inviting them to battle it out in the ring but they aren’t having it and threaten again to just blow his head off.

4/18 Steve wants to know what this is all about? Raul yells that Steve disgraced his little brother. Roman is trying to talk them out over the loud speaker before this goes any further. Emilio and Raul drag Steve over to the front door and throw it open. They threaten that Steve won’t get out of their alive unless they get what they want! After they drag him back inside, Kayla demands that Roman give him what he wants! Abe points out they haven’t asked for anything yet! Roman points out that Steve has a gun. Abe figures he is just waiting for the right time to use it. Marcus informs them that Steve gave his gun to him to protect Kayla.

The press and Jack arrive at the Community Center. Jack spouts a lot of idealistic sound bytes, while Roman and Abe try to get them all out of the way. Melissa seems bothered by the fact that Jack is so gleeful about the situation. Kayla asks Monty if Steve will be all right and he reassures her. Jo and Adrienne arrive begging to know if Steve is okay and Kayla reassures them with Monty’s support. Monty tells Marcus that he didn’t really see anything this time but Kayla feels better. Monty thinks he can help and shares that Raul and Emilio are his sons. Roman finally clears the area. Roman starts trying to negotiate with the gang members and Emilio has enough sense to worry. Steve is trying to talk his way out of this sticky situation. Monty calls out to his boys and pleads with them but doesn’t work. Things escalate as they start beating Steve up and Kayla cries that they are killing him! Roman shoots!

4/19 Steve is held hostage by the Stingrays, Raul takes a swing and knocks Steve down. Kayla cries that they are killing him and demands that Roman do something. Roman shoots and both Steve and Raul fall, as Steve is bleeding from his mouth. Steve yells at Roman for shooting, since he thinks Raul was going to give up. Marcus and Kayla are trying to save Raul. Marcus tells Steve he wasn't able to save Raul, as Emilio goes after Roman.

Monty shows up and finds out that his son was shot. Emilio is arrested. Steve finds Monty on the pier holding a box. He shows Steve a headshot of him from younger more together days. Steve teases that he looks like a real lady killer back in the day. Steve asks to see the rest of the pictures of his family and asks what happened to him for him to wind up like this. Monty cries that it is too late for him. Steve tells him it is never too late, to look at the pictures of his happy family. Steve demands that he pick himself up and pull it together as it is never over as long as Monty is alive. Later at the loft, Steve tells Kayla that he will never get that boy’s face out of his mind. If Roman had only trusted him a little bit more that kid would still be alive. They sit in front of the fire as Kayla tells him she realized today how short life is and she just wants to enjoy being with him and starts kissing him.

4/21 A shaken Emilio comes in and wants his brother’s St. Christopher medal. Steve has it and tells him that he has been saving it for him. Steve is sorry that Raul never should have been shot. Emilio tells him he and blondie should just leave them alone as they caused his brother’s death. Steve has doubts that they are fighting a losing battle down here and he is starting to lose hope. He thinks they are wasting their time as he is sure all the other gang members feel the same way. Kayla gives him a pep talk. He points out after Raul’s death, they will never trust him again. Kayla assures him that it will take time and patience. He tells her he just doesn’t know and walks out after kissing her.

Monty is chasing his blues away with a bottle. Steve finds him on the dock and shows an interest in his backstory. Marcus visits Kayla, who is starting to feel discouraged because the Community Center is empty. Monty reveals to Steve that he used to be in the circus, until a freak accident put all of that to an end. Then Monty asks Steve for a favor. Emilio hates his guts but maybe Steve can reach him. Steve says that he isn’t exactly on Emilio’s friendship list. Monty begs Steve to try to help Emilio and promises that he is a good boy. Jack meets Emilio on the pier, and expresses sympathy for what happened to his brother. Jack offers to help him get back at the people who killed his brother and get the revenge he deserves. Jack buys him a new suit and arranges for him to be interviewed by the press. Steve sees the interview on TV and goes ballistic. He races down there, and gives his side of the story, including what Emilio had done prior to the incident inside. Jack isn't happy. Steve turns the interview around to his advantage and gives a statement proclaiming the CC will remain open. Steve and Kayla are both feeling more hopeful now. A more positive Steve starts kissing Kayla, and looks like they are going to get romantic at the center.

4/26 Marcus and Steve are working down at the center and Steve teases him about injuring his precious hands. Steve meets Vanessa, who is looking for Emilio. If he doesn't appear at his hearing, he's in big trouble! Steve becomes Emilio's guardian angel. Steve enlists Abe's help to see if he can pick up Emilio unofficially. Steve asks Vanessa to delay the court hearing a couple of hours. The unlikely duo find Emilio in the park and Abe lets him think he is being arrested and chases off the other gang members. This seems highly irregular, but the judge puts Emilio under Steve's authority. Emilio wants to know why he is keeping him out of jail. Steve lays down the law as Emilio gives him attitude and Steve gives him a choice to do what he says or go to jail. He chooses Steve. Steve tells Emilio that he is going back to school. Monty thanks Steve for helping his son.

Kayla is preparing for her rape prevention seminar as she is posting flyers on the docks. Jack comes upon her and tells her that she should have someone run the seminar who was actually raped. He goes on that wives could prevent rape from happening by not leading their husbands on, not pretending they are going to make love to him some day, and not having an affair. She declares that no one deserves to be raped. He warns her that if she mentions his name at the seminar, it will be slander! Kayla is still reeling from her latest encounter with Jack as guests begin arriving for her seminar including Lexie. The seminar begins, and Kayla talks about her experience. Somebody is scuttling around and smoking cigarettes outside.

Later, Jack wants Melissa to tell him what happened at the seminar. Jack realizes that Melissa isn't sure that Kayla is lying. She begs him to tell her what really happened that night. He convinces her that he's innocent, he never meant to hurt Kayla. He holds her and reminds her that she knows he would never deliberately hurt anyone. She apologizes for doubting him and hopes he isn’t angry at HER! Melissa is gullible enough to believe that Jack didn't really rape Kayla after all? Steve tries to give Monty some more tough love, if Monty really wants to help his kids then he has to stop drinking. Steve tries to get him to get his act together so he can be there for his kids. Monty names all of his kids but knows he is a lousy father. He declares even if he quit drinking, he would still be a lousy father.

As Monty walks away, Kayla shows up and Steve realizes she looks upset and asks why she is down. She tells him she knows that doing the seminar was a good thing, but every time she has to talk about the rape she wonders if she will ever get over it. He reassures her that time heals and asks her to be patient. He points out how far she has come. She took something bad that happened to her and turned it around to do something good. She just hopes the police can catch whoever has been killing women in Salem. Somebody is watching Steve and Kayla!

4/28 Kayla is preparing for the dedication ceremony. Everyone is wondering if Emilio will show up for school. He surprises everyone when he does. Steve is going to take him to school as he wants to watch him walk through those doors. Vanessa encourages him and says he should be proud of going back to school. After they leave, Vanessa notices that her watch is missing, and Marcus pins it on Emilio. Kayla calls out Marcus on his feelings for Vanessa. Monty stumbles in and Steve continues to be hard on him. Kayla tells Steve and Monty about the missing watch. Steve questions Emilio about the watch, and Emilio gets defensive. Emilio yells that he didn’t take it! He is shocked when Steve actually believes him. Emilio and Steve start to bond as Emilio shares he was in Raul’s shadow. Steve points out that now he can figure out who Emilio is.

Kayla comes in and reports a patient found Vanessa's watch, the clasp is broken. Monty comes in after getting cleaned up and tries to talk to Emilio. Emilio has harsh words for his father. Steve tries to stop Emilio but Monty knows he deserves it. Monty says he is trying to change but Emilio doesn’t believe him as he has promised a hundred times before. Monty assures him that this time he is really going to try. Steve encourages Monty that he can do it this time. Later, Steve and Kayla close up the center, as she says she would like to go to bed early. Monty is outside as they leave and Steve tells him to stay out of trouble. Monty prophesies that he isn’t the one that is headed for trouble after they walk away.

4/29 A nervous Kayla goes over the final arrangements for the grand opening of the Community Center with a big gala. Steve in his tux offers to help with whatever she needs. Kayla leaves Steve to wait for the guests, while she works on her speech. Jack enters and tells Steve he has a proposition regarding the divorce. Jack is looking to make a deal with Kayla. He wants her to retract the things she said about him at the rape seminar during the gala. Steve laughs and tells him that she is dreaming. Steve warns Jack that tonight is important to Kayla and he won’t allow Jack to ruin it. If she doesn’t issue Jack a public apology, he threatens to drag out the divorce and her name and reputation through the mud and promises it could be YEARS. He suggests Steve discuss it with Kayla. Steve grabs him and pushes him up against the wall and tells him he doesn’t have to discuss it with anyone, it is never going to happen. Jack smirks that he and Kayla will be married for a long long time. Steve questions if Jack ever listens to the garbage that comes out of his face.

Sadly Steve shares that once upon a time, he thought Jack was a real stand up guy, one that cared about people. Steve wonders how a nice kid like him could grow up and turn out to be a smart smooth jerk like him that doesn’t care about anyone or anything but himself. He questions how that happened. Jack declares that the lies took away his innocence. His wife lied to him every night of their marriage. Jack informs him, show me a nice guy, and I'll show you a loser. He says he's never going to lose again. Kayla is getting ready to give her speech at the Grand Opening, when Jack returns in a snarky mood and tells Mrs Deveraux how lovely she looks. Steve questions if he can’t let up for even one night? Jack says never. He asks Kayla if she has thought about his proposition as she looks questioningly. He restates his proposition that they can stay married a long long time unless she retracts her lies. She tells him no way. She intends to tell what really happened that night. A concerned Alice interrupts just in time. Justin and Victor are relieved that there is no sign of the Torres family.

Kayla gives her speech and she thanks the Kiriakis family for their generous donations. She stresses that every woman has the right to control what happens to her own body, and that not even her husband can make her do something she doesn't want to do. Jack is angry, and tells Canby to find anything he can to close this place down, and there's $10,000 in it for him. Tom Horton speaks and then while Justin is speaking on behalf of the Kiriakis family, a member of the Torres family aims a gun at Justin. Victor stands up as gunshots ring out at the benefit and takes the bullet meant for Justin.

5/2 Marcus, Kayla, and Mike try to help Victor (who has been shot) while they wait for the ambulance. Victor is shot and rushed to the hospital. Steve notices Camby and kicks him out. After things calm down, Steve tries to cheer Kayla up. She sadly says this was supposed to be a happy day full of promise. He reminds her that nothing is over, she got this place built and they are going to do this. He knows she can rise above this. She demands to know why these things always happen to them! He says because they can handle it and they are survivors. Steve and Kayla arrive at the hospital, and Mike has bad news, Victor is in a coma. Adrienne is worried about Justin, and Steve offers some big-brother comfort. Later that night back at the center, Kayla wants to clean up at the center, but Steve has other plans for her and wants to take her home.

5/3 Jack has organized a protest rally outside the Community Center, which brings Steve and Kayla running outside. They swap insults as Jack continues to be obnoxious, Steve and Kayla are indignant with his continued harassment as he vows to do everything he can to close down the center. Jack is joined by Harper, who makes a crowd-pleasing speech in support of boycotting the center. Steve tells Kayla they have to fight fire with fire, and they go inside. Steve holds an emergency meeting as the community supporters gather. He tells the crowd that Jack wants to shut them down for personal reasons, as Melissa looks sick about it all. He wants to start a petition and introduces Mickey as their attorney and Monty as the new project coordinator.

Melissa goes outside, where she sadly watches Jack in action. Jack has paid Emilio to stage a fight with him, while Canby is snapping pictures. Steve dives into the fray and breaks it up, while Jack keeps running his mouth. Steve pulls Emilio inside and gives him a scolding. Emilio sees his father, who tells him that he has sworn off alcohol for good. Emilio is disbelieving, and Steve tells him to give Monty a chance. Kayla is given a yellow rose and a note from a secret admirer, who she meets on the pier. It is Steve! He tells her that he doesn’t want her to worry about the community center, but they will beat Jack. He tells her that every good thing he has in his life, he had to fight for. Steve comforts her that Jack isn’t going to take her dreams away from her. He promises Jack will be out of their lives and they are going to settle down and live out their dream. He starts kissing her as the music swells. Later that night when Jack asks Melissa questions about what happened at the community center today, Melissa expresses discomfort at spying on her friends and says that after what happened today, she doesn't agree with what he's doing. She tells him she didn’t go there to spy for him, her friends called needing help.

5/5 The next day, and Melissa is volunteering at the Community Center. When Jack calls, Melissa makes up an excuse to go leave so she can got meet him and Kayla gives her the go ahead. Steve tells Kayla he doesn't trust Melissa’s motives for being here given how Jack feels about this place. Kayla is feeling appreciative and trusts her. Steve points out that Melissa is still charged with Kayla’s attempted murder. Steve warns her that they can’t trust her as she is too tight with Jack. Kayla makes a bold move. She tells Mickey she wants to drop the poisoning charges against Melissa but she wants to keep it quiet. Emilio is peevish about having to go to school. Kayla mentions to Emilio that she appreciates how he stood up for the center at the protest. Emilio has the decency to feel guilty about helping Jack. Canby is showing Jack the photos he took at the protest rally, and Jack is quite pleased. He pays him for his services.

At the community center, Melissa tells Steve how grateful she is to Jack for getting the charges dropped. Steve is amazed that she assumes it's Jack, but also doesn't correct her. Kayla thinks Melissa needs to figure things out on her own. He tells Kayla it's time they showed her what a creep Jack really is. Jack pays off Emilio for HIS part in the protest rally. Emilio is happy to get the money, but seems to be conflicted in his opinion about getting the center closed.

5/9 Steve and Kayla are working at the center at night. A mysterious figure spies on them from the next room. Steve spots the intruder and catches another Ramirez! And this one sure is sassy! April says she wants to volunteer so that she can check out the center for herself. Kayla is thrilled. The lights go out and Steve helps Kayla fix the electrical system. Oohh...April has an ulterior motive it seems, because she steals drugs when they aren't looking! After April leaves, Kayla notices that the inventory list is missing. Steve is ready to go home and to get Kayla’s attention he starts kissing her. He tells Kayla that the elves will work throughout the night for her. They lock up and April watches as they leave.

5/11 Adrienne tells Steve and Kayla that Jo has breast cancer and is having surgery today. Steve is worried about Jo and heads out to the hospital with Adrienne. Steve brings Jo a plant and some comfort. Adrienne and Steve have a heart-to-heart. Adrienne gives Kayla and Steve the 411 on Justin taking over the Kiriakis empire.

Kayla brings in a new box of medical supplies, and April steals the inventory list. April steals more drugs, while Canby snaps pictures. Kayla tells Mike about the missing inventory slip from the other day. Clever Mike is going to give April the third degree. Melissa and Jack are walking on the pier and hear someone coming, so Melissa ducks into hiding. It's Canby, with the photos of Emilio roughing up Jack. He asks Canby if he can catch Steve doing something illegal. Melissa is shocked at what she just heard. Jack congratulates Emilio on a job well done, and offers him something on a more permanent basis. His father Monty overhears, and freaks out. He badgers his son until he admits what Jack is up to.

Monty drags Emilio to see Steve. Emilio tells Steve about Jack's offer and reports that he didn’t take his money this time. He tells them about the staged fight as Steve asks him what is the matter with him? Jack is at Shenanigans trying to have some lunch when Steve struts over to him and grabs him by the tie. He blasts him for using Emilio to do his dirty work. Steve tells him if he has a problem with him and Kayla, take it up with him and Kayla. Melissa has overheard and after Steve leaves, she tells Jack that she agrees with Steve. He tells her that Steve messed with him and his family, and the wheels are in motion, and there isn’t anything anyone can do to stop it.

5/13 Monty does a card reading for Kayla when Jack oh so rudely interrupts. Jack hassles Kayla about her plan to teach the young girls in the neighborhood homemaking skills. He thinks it should be homeBREAKING skills and questions if she will be teaching adultery? Steve hauls off and punches him, leaving him with a bloodied lip. Monty witnesses it, but says he can't be a witness for Jack because he's blind without his glasses. Jack leaves. Monty tells Steve and Kayla that Jack is surrounded by evil. He also informs them that he's seen Jack frequenting prostitutes on the riverfront and that there's an aura of evil about him and implicates him in the murders. Melissa overhears and runs off, upset. Steve immediately calls Shane with the new lead (there is a stalker killing hookers and he puts Jack under suspicion). Steve is punching the bag, angry at the though that his baby brother might be a killer. Kayla asks Monty to give them a reading, just for fun, to take his mind off it. The first card he turns over is "Death".

Jack runs into Melissa at Blondie's and she's uncomfortable. She asks him about the prostitutes. He swears that it was only once, and he didn't "do" anything, although he paid her. He gives her a song and dance about how it's all HER fault that he went to a hooker because she is so beautiful and he couldn't be "with" her. A hurt and confused Melissa takes off telling Jack she needs some time alone.

5/17 Adrienne goes to the clinic to see Steve and meets Emilio. When he goes in the back to find Steve, Adrienne is almost mugged, when Emilio comes to her rescue. Kimberly's prostitution is made public when it hits the papers shocking her parents. Caroline finds a note from Kim. Kayla visits her sister at the Brady house, but it turns out that Kim has moved out and left her mother a note. Kayla offers to go find her.

Steve arrives and Adrienne tells him that Jo isn't faring too well. Steve has a romantic dinner planned for Sweetness, so he asks Emilio to set it up for him while he's at the hospital. Jo is recovering okay from surgery, but she's feeling down. Steve gives Mama some kisses, then he leaves the Johnson women alone for some girl talk. Kayla finds Steve and tells him about her sister. Steve offers to help look for Kim. They run into Shane on the pier. Emilio sets up the dinner at the Community Center. April walks in and her brother asks if she got the drugs. April tells Emilio she can't steal drugs anymore. Emilio wants to get it but April insists that he keep his hands clean. They start arguing but Steve and Kayla interrupt. Kayla thinks Emilio's table setting is "unique". April says she need to go do paperwork at the Emergency Center and Kayla offers to help. Emilio helps Steve convince Kayla to stay. April steals the drugs while Steve and Kayla are kissing.

5/19 Kayla is worried the center won't pass the inspection by the Washington officials, as Steve tries to reassure her. If they don't pass, they won't get the balance of their funding and the center could be shut down. Everyone is preparing for the big inspection. Unfortunately, Monty has prepared by drinking himself silly. A disappointed Steve kicks Monty out until he sobers up.
