DVD #18A 12/11 Isabella watches from the bushes as the guard takes Jack and Kayla away. Jennifer fills Steve in on Jack's involvement in the Toscano murder case and says she's worried about him. Steve heads off to Bayview.

In their new quarters, Jack tries to explain to Kayla what he was up to. Jack asks Kayla why she came to help. She asks what he's doing there. He tells her about Isabella. He assures Kayla all he wanted to do was help her and Steve. A guard barges in and gets rough with Kayla. Jack protests as Steve comes in, flashing Roman's badge, impersonating "Commander Brady”’s badge and rescues Kayla and Jack from Bayview. Jack says he has to stay behind and look for Isabella.

Steve and Kayla go home where Steve asks her why she helped Jack. He thinks the worst of Jack, while Kayla defends him. Jack arrives and says he couldn't find Isabella. He asks Steve to help him look for her in the morning and points out she is all alone in Salem and needs their help. Jack leaves. Steve gives Kayla hot chocolate and tries to convince her that he will protect her. Sweet scene as he stares at their wedding picture and promises her that they are going to be fine, they will be together as a family and raise their baby together. When he looks over at her, Kayla passes out on the couch.

12/13 Steve tells Kayla that he has an idea and wants to call a family meeting at “Wings”. Kayla agrees. Steve drops by the Curtis mansion and when he arrives, he overhears Jo telling Neil her dreams of spending a Christmas with all of her children. She laments well if not this year, maybe next year. Steve enters asks Jo to join him and Kayla for lunch at Wings. Kayla calls Adrienne and asks her to lunch. Then she convinces Steve to invite Jack. Their family are concerned when they want to meet with them that it is to announce they are splitting up and Jo and Adrienne look a bit worried.

Jack arrives at Wings and finds Steve, Kayla, Jo, and Adrienne already there. Everyone makes small talk, and then Steve announces that he and Kayla are going to have a baby. The women get all excited, but Jack hangs back. He shakes hands with Steve and tells Kayla she'll be a great mother. Roman arrives and hears the news. Roman declares, "About time sis." Jo and Steve talk outside alone about parenthood and gives him a gift, it is his bronzed baby shoes. Adrienne and Kayla discuss baby names, while Justin walks in. He and Adrienne keep eying each other. She regrets that things didn't work out with Justin. She excuses herself and Jack sits down. He and Kayla make small talk. She wants to talk about Isabella. She's afraid that if Steve finds Isabella that there will be more trouble. Steve returns. Steve asks Jack if he's found Isabella, but he lies and says no.

Steve has arranged his own private party with Kayla after everyone has left. They slow dance together as someone takes pictures, and a hidden Jack watches. Steve and Kayla return home and he asks if he could stay awhile if she doesn’t mind. She says yes she would like him to stay. She laughs when she sees his bronzed baby shoes. He comments on how he missed her laugh. He takes her in his arms to continue dancing. As she feels the baby kick, Steve talks to their baby in her belly. They continue their dance as he holds her in his arms and all seems right with their world.

12/15 Victor receives an envelope of surveillance pictures of Steve & Kayla. He urges his courier to make sure no one sees him deliver them. Victor sees Kayla on the docks and stops to ask her about her pregnancy. Kayla isn't in the mood for Victor's holiday cheer. Steve is irate when he sees Victor talking to Kayla and gets in his face. He reminds Victor that he warned him to stay away from Kayla. Kayla stops Steve from getting physical.

Steve and Kayla find one of surveillance photos left for them on Kayla’s front door with a knife through the picture. A worried Steve urges Kayla to quickly get inside. He is shaken to see the pictures are of them together at “Wings”. The attached note says, “Enjoy these last happy times you will spend together.” Steve tells her that he is going to kill him! He wants to get out of town but Kayla refuses to leave town. She insists that she is staying to be with her family for Christmas. Steve worries that he can’t protect her 24 hours a day. He warns her they maybe out of time. She refuses to listen to him. He points out that her parents can’t protect her. Steve prowls the pier and makes a plan. Kayla is alone at night, as the door slowly opens behind her. Someone comes up behind her and covers her mouth to muffle her scream.

12/18 Kayla is grabbed from behind as she sits in Shawn and Caroline's living room, as the person tries to keep her calm. It's later revealed it is Steve, who set it up to look like Kayla was kidnapped, to throw Victor off the trail. Steve takes Kayla to the lighthouse to protect her, as she makes a fuss about being locked in there. Steve visits Kayla at the lighthouse then leaves again to keep up the kidnapping story. Steve tries to explain his reasoning but Kayla is a wee bit miffed. Steve has done a pretty good job decorating the lighthouse for Sweetness. Vic gets a visit from Steve, who is playing the part of a desperate husband whose wife has just been kidnapped. Steve returns to his Princess in the Tower, and she's in a foul mood. Then they part for the evening and pine away for one another.

12/20 Kayla finds an old trunk. Kayla is worried about all of the baby shopping she needs to do. Steve gives Kayla a baby book. Then he takes off for some investigating at the Salem Inn. In disguise, Jack and Izzy have broken into Marina’s hotel room and start looking around. There's a knock on the door and oops! It's Steve! Isabella makes a hasty exit. Jack and Steve discuss where Isabella might be. Jack is evasive and Steve jumps to the wrong conclusions. He doesn't believe Jack is really trying to help. They leave the room. Steve leaves. Kayla has a Christmas fantasy. Steve comes back and tells Kayla that Jack isn't going to help them. Steve takes off again. Steve waves at Kayla from the pier. Kayla's got plans of her own.

12/21 Jack and Steve discuss where Isabella might be. Jack is evasive and Steve jumps to the wrong conclusions. He doesn't believe Jack is really trying to help. They leave the room. Steve leaves and Jack sneaks back into the room, and Isabella arrives. They talk about Steve. They continue looking for the key, and Jack finds an earring under the bed. Isabella doesn't seem to recognize it.

12/22 Still trapped in the lighthouse, Kayla is suffering from cabin fever. She finds a Santa suit in an old steamer trunk. Steve arrives and Kayla acts innocent. Steve tells Kayla she has to stay there, as hard as it is. Steve is trying to win Kayla over with food and decorations, but Kayla is adamant about seeing her family.

Steve arrives at Neil's for Christmas and Jo says she's worried about Kayla. He assures her not to worry. Steve is a bit jolly with his Santa hat since his wife is supposedly missing. Jo suspects that Steve is hiding something about Kayla. The doorbell rings, Steve answers, it's Jack. They talk awkwardly about Kayla. Jack tries to convince Steve that he's trying to help him find the key and to help find Kayla. Jo comes in the foyer and is thrilled to see her sons together at Christmas. Jo forces Jack to come into the living room. Neil takes the famous 1989 Christmas Johnson Family Photo.

Meanwhile, Kayla dresses as Santa as a way to see her family. Kayla has somehow managed to inflate a raft and float across the Salem River until she reached the pier. Steve hides Santa Sweetness under the stairs at the pier. They watch as both the creepy carolers and Victor pass by.

12/25 Kayla listens on the pier (disguised as Santa), as Roman and Kim talk about missing her, as Santa comes out. Vic watches Steve and Kayla's movements. Kayla and Steve hide from Vic and his minions of Creepy Carolers. After Vic and his caroling minions depart, Steve and Kayla start arguing. Oh no they are back! Hide! The Brady family is there too, and Kim and Roman start talking about Kayla. Kayla decides to come out of hiding. Kayla parades herself right in front of her family, but they don’t recognise her. Finally Shawn and Caroline recognize Santa Sweetness, and so does Victor. Steve rows Kayla back to the lighthouse. Steve and Kayla see Santa flying through the air. Vic decides to take the day off from evil since it is Christmas.

On the dock, Nico says there's no sign of Steve. Victor grumbles he knows he saw him, but they leave anyway. Steve and Kayla come out from under the dock. Steve tells her this is why he wanted her to stay in the lighthouse. Kayla says she won't let Victor spoil Christmas for her. She won't go back to the lighthouse until she sees her family. Steve tells her they have a baby coming, and nothing, not even Christmas, is important enough to jeopardize that. She says she wants to see her family. He says she will, he promises. He gets her back under the dock as the Bradys come along caroling. Kim and Roman step away from the others. They talk about how Christmas won't be the same without Kayla. Roman says when they were kids, Christmas was always Kayla's thing. He hopes she is okay.

Kayla comes out from under the dock, ho ho hoing, pretending to be Santa, and is surrounded by the Bradys. Victor, in his car, tells Nico to turn around. They’re going back to the pier. Steve and Kayla are rowing back to the lighthouse singing the same carol. They hear Santa's sleigh and look out the window together and see Santa. Steve gives Kayla a baby's first Christmas ornament, Steve tells her that she has given him the best present he could ever get, a future. They kiss and stare out the window at the falling snow. Steve wishes Kayla a Merry Christmas.

12/27 Kayla has a fever, but she tries to hide the fact from Steve. She is still adamant about going home, while Steve is still adamant about keeping her at the lighthouse. Steve docks the boat and waves to Kayla. Steve finds Marcus and tells him that Kayla is sick. Marcus insists on seeing Kayla himself, and Steve reluctantly agrees to it. Vic prowls about. Kayla finds a a kitten outside of her window. Isabella sneaks into Steve's and Kayla's house. She hides as Steve arrives and makes a call to Marcus. Kayla reads her latest journal entry. Steve gets the medicine from Marcus. Steve returns to the lighthouse and tends to Sweetness. Steve reads Kayla's journal.

12/29 Steve is worried about Kayla, who apparently has pneumonia again. Steve runs to get Marcus and leaves his Sweetness with a beeper and a gun. Steve calls Marcus from the pier seeking his help treating Kayla. Vic sees Steve and decides to make a move. Kayla is bedridden and fantasizing about Steve. Somebody is trying to get into the lighthouse, so Kayla beeps Steve and grabs the gun.

1/2 Steve and Marcus get back to the lighthouse and find Kayla is gone, and the door has been broken in. Steve tells Marcus Victor has Kayla. Kayla is attended to by a nurse named Grace. Steve goes to Adrienne to help find out what Justin knows about Victor kidnapping Kayla.

1/4 Steve knows that Victor kidnapped Kayla. Marcus finds a beeper. A desperate Steve walks the docks, having flashbacks of Kayla. Marcus finds Steve and reassures him. He reminds Steve that the baby is the best thing that ever happened to Kayla, and their love will go on through their child. Steve cries that he just hopes Kayla knows how much he loves her. Steve realizes that Jack knows more than he is telling him and he demands answers.

1/8 Jack insists on helping Steve find Kayla, Grace becomes Kayla's ally. Isabella and Victor meet, as Steve and Jack listen in. Kayla is caught trying to escape and Grace walks in as the goon is getting rough with her. Kayla begs her to give her back the beeper as that is the only way she has of reaching Steve. Isabella goes back to Steve’s after her talk with Victor. She reports that she found a clue. Steve is annoyed as she didn’t try very hard to find out where Kayla is being held. Isabella tells him that Victor clued her in about a freighter but Isabella tells him it was way too easy and she thinks it is a trap. Steve finds Kayla on the ship disguised as a freighter. He is hit from behind and thrown overboard.

1/10 Jack and Isabella are watching on the pier. Isabella spots Steve in the water and they pull him to safety. Kayla worries about Steve and begs Grace to allow her to signal him. Grace is worried one of the guards will find out and then they will both be in trouble. She finally gives in, and Kayla beeps for Steve. When he hears the beeper, he realises she has to be somewhere close.

1/12 One of the goons pulls Kayla and tells her it is time to leave. Steve thinks he sees Kayla and grabs her. Roman pulls him away and shakes Steve out of his hallucination of rescuing Kayla. It was just his imagination. Grace arranges an escape plan for Kayla. She reports to Victor about the guard being rough and requests a doctor to evaluate Kayla. While he is examining her, Grace drugs him and knocks him out. Meanwhile, Yvette overhears Victor talking to Grace about holding Kayla hostage and heads over to tell Roman and Steve confirmation that Victor has her. Steve heads out to Miami to find his wife. He warns Roman that he will only slow him down.

1/15 Jack and Jenn are searching Steve’s place and hide in the secret room when returns home. He hears them and demands they come out of hiding. Steve & Marcus on the plane heading to where Kayla is being held. Steve is excited to rescue Kayla, he is finally going to see his wife!

1/17 Steve and Marcus go to save Kayla from Victor. Marcus warns Steve against going in without a plan. Kayla is having pains, as Grace says tells the guard that they need to get her to the hospital, unaware Steve and Marcus are there. The guys search the ship and Steve is excited to find Kayla’s baby book. They hear a tape recording of a baby crying and follow the sound, only to be arrested by the local cops. Kayla is in the hospital but Grace tells her the staff is very loyal to the private owner. They guess it is Victor’s hospital. Note: Last 6 mins glitchy.

1/19 Marcus and Steve are in jail. Grace goes to see Steve in jail. She tells him she has a message about Kayla. Grace tells him that she is Kayla’s nurse and she is fine. She warns him that the goons who have her have warned him away from her. Grace tells Kayla about meeting with Steve. Steve and Marcus are released from jail.

Dvd #18B 1/22 Steve is brought to Kayla and they are reunited. Victor and his goon leave them alone together. Steve wants to run with her but she tells him she can’t run and there are guards everywhere. She also says she can’t leave without Grace as she has been helping her. Victor demands the key and Steve says that he hadn’t planned on giving him the key until his wife is free. Victor stipulates that he will only accept the key from Isabella Toscano, and once he does then Kayla will be released. Steve tells Roman, Marcus, and Isabella the plan. Roman is concerned about Isabella’s safety and insists that he is going with her. Steve vows that he will free Kayla, even if he has to kill Victor to do so.

1/23 Glitchy. Marcus tells Steve that he heard a gunshot and Steve realises it is in the area of the exchange. The guards won’t allow Kayla to leave. Roman and Victor rush Isabella to the hospital and Steve soon shows up. He demands that Victor let her go before some trigger happy goon shoots her too. Victor reminds Steve that they had a deal and all Victor has to do is make a phone call. Roman reports that Vic took the key from Isabella while she was unconscious, so he has what he wanted. Meanwhile, Marcus gives Kayla a check up. Steve returns and tells her that it is over and they can all go home. Kayla just wants to forget any of this ever happened. The hold and kiss each other, and snuggle together in bed, relieved to finally be reunited.

1/25 Glitchy. Kayla is reunited with her family and has a joyful homecoming. Steve asks Jo if she can pull off the surprise for Kayla by tonight? Jack learns from Steve what happened in Miami. Steve brings Kayla to see Neil for a check up and then they go out for a romantic dinner and slow dance.

1/26 Kayla and Steve wake up in bed together in the morning, and snuggle with each other as they say “I love you” to each other. Kayla feels self conscious about her pregnant belly after they made love. He agrees that she has never been more desirable or more beautiful. He tells her he is jealous that she gets to carry the baby and he is just along for the ride.

1/29 Kayla receives a tape implying she killed Marina. Kayla listens to a tape of her and Marina arguing. When Steve comes in, Kayla is distracted by thinking about the tape. Steve happily wants to get married on Friday. Kayla can’t even think about it and makes an excuse and rushes out as he looks after her puzzled. Kayla stops outside and remembers hearing the argument on the tape and wonders if she is responsible? Kayla has a flashback to her argument with Marina, and her falling and hitting her head. Marina pops right back up again so obviously not dead, yet Kayla has doubts? Kayla is desperately trying to burn the audio cassette tape down on the dock. Marcus comes upon her and asks what she is doing? She tells Marcus about Steve asking her to marry her again, but she confesses it isn’t so easy? He says why not? She looks at him and agrees, why not? After Marcus leaves, Kayla receives a call asking if she liked the tape? If she needs another copy, he has many. She is shaken to her core.

When she goes home, Steve has set the stage for a romantic evening with flowers, candles, soft lighting to cheer her up and make her feel safe again yet he does the opposite. He leaves a note that says, “Fine the tape player”. She is shaken and goes to it and finds another note that says, “Remember this?” When she sees a tape inside, she thinks it is the mystery caller and grabs the tape and starts smashing it. Steve comes in and asks if she doesn’t like that song anymore, “Desiree”? He tells her he just made the tape for her this morning, and has her favourite food, and wants her to know she is safe and loved. He holds her and tells her that he wants to get married on Friday but she isn't ready. He realizes he is rushing her and offers that she can just tell him when to show up at the church and he will be there.

1/31 Steve tells Marcus that he and Kayla are getting married on Friday. Marcus says he thought Kayla wasn’t sure about going through with the wedding? Steve is on the top of the world and can’t wait to marry the love of his life. Steve tells Marcus that he can’t get married without him.

Jack runs into Kayla in Isabella’s hospital room. Jack realizes that she is feeling guilty that Isabella was hurt and thinks she is blaming herself. Jack compares her to Bambi but Kayla says she isn’t as nice as he seems to think. Kayla says that she owes Isabella a lot, she risked her life for her. Jack tells her that she deserves better, she deserves a break. Jack encourages that this is Kayla’s time to be happy with the baby. He says that her and Steve haven’t had any happiness for a very long time and they are due. Kayla confides that Steve wants to marry her again. He asks when the big day is? She shares that it is supposed to be on Friday, but she doesn’t think she can go through with it. She says that all of her problems aren’t over and some are going to be difficult to deal with. Jack points out that wouldn’t it be better to deal with Steve, and be together to face whatever.

Steve asks Marcus to be his best man. Marcus tells him that he can’t do it. Marcus asks what about Jack? Steve declares that when he loved Jack, that he stabbed him in the back. Marcus points out that Steve may not have Kayla back if not for Jack and he thinks he is trying to change. When Steve arrives home, he tells Kayla about discussing the wedding with Marcus. She asks if he told him that the bride is hesitant. Steve says it may seem like he is pushing it but he is not. She is relieved that he isn’t pressuring her. He tells her he just wants to be with her, to wake up in the morning, and go to bed with her at night and they don’t need a piece of paper to do that. He touches her heart and she agrees to marry him. She tells him that Jack helped her. He is trying to erase the past and move forward. Steve tells her that he can’t erase the past. Kayla says that after all he has done to help them, maybe he deserves a second chance.

Steve goes to see Jack and shocks him by asking him to be his best man. Jack figures that Jo put him up to this and Steve says no. Jack asks if Kayla is okay with this idea? Steve suggests that if Jack doesn’t want to it is okay to say no. Jack shakily says yes that he would like to. They get chocked up and awkward with each other and Steve makes an excuse to leave.

2/1 Steve knows Kayla is upset about something and asks her to tell him what it is? He promises that she can tell him anything? He asks if she is ready to get remarried, or if she thinks he is pushing her into it. She says she is marrying him as she loves him and she knows that he loves her. She tells him she had so much anger about Marina being in his life. She tells him she should have handled it better, and she should have forgiven him. He tells her they are together now and that is the way it is going to stay. Kayla goes to the Fish Market and her family gives her a warm welcome. Roman and Caroline go off to find some fine whisky to toast with. Shawn asks her what is wrong? He gives her a pep talk about how love is worth fighting for. He prophetically says that her and Steve are going to be happy together and they are going to make it this time and no one is going to ruin it for her.. just as Victor walks in.

Steve heads over and tells his mother and his sister that he and Kayla are getting remarried, then he shocks them by saying tomorrow! Adrienne has to run out to go make arrangements. Jo tells him he is lucky to have a sister like her. She says there is also someone else he is lucky to have. She asks what about Jack? Steve informs her that Jack already knows about the wedding. Jo hopefully asks if he has already asked him to come? He says no, and she looks sad and understanding. He tells her that he asked Jack to be his Best Man! This is all she has ever hoped for, to have her children back and together. She hugs him and thanks him for this wonderful gift. Back home, Steve tells Kayla that he has learned more about love being married to her for one day than he ever knew before. She is so beautiful, sweet, smart, and she is so good to him. He tells her how much he loves her and their baby, that if he never has anything else in this world besides her and this baby, that he will be a happy man.

2/2 Steve brings Kayla breakfast in bed, wearing a tux bow tie and no shirt (ala a male stripper). Kayla is very jumpy and Steve assures her that everything will be just fine. At the PD, Roman hears the tape of Kayla and Marina's fight after it is delivered to him. Jack shows up and gives Steve an out if he would rather pick another Best Man. Steve declares that he can stand it if Jack can. Victor shows up and Steve asks if he was invited, knowing the answer. Victor declares that he has a wedding gift for the happy couple. Steve listens to it and observes that it isn’t ticking and tosses the gift in the snow. They shut the door in Victor’s face. Roman comes out to see Victor leave the property. He promises that he will be sure that Steve and Kayla get his gift.

Steve & Kayla's almost wedding begins as Justin sings “My Love”. Abe receives a phone call warning him that Roman is sitting on a tape which can solve Marina Toscano’s murder. Abe presses play on the tape player and hears the tape of Kayla and Marina arguing.

2/5 Steve & Kayla's almost second wedding continues as Kayla joins Steve at the altar. He takes her hand and stares into her eyes, the love and connection between them communicated without words. Abe arrives after hearing the tape. Kayla stops the wedding and turns around and asks Abe what is going on. Roman tries to stop him, but Abe tells her that he is there to question her about Marina’s death. Steve is irate that they are interrupting their wedding and Steve refuses to allow her to talk to him. She tells him that it is okay. Jack tells them privately that he will hang onto the tux and he will be there for them when they are ready. Steve refuses to listen to their claim that there is new evidence. He refuses to believe it as he says it is impossible for her to have been involved in Marina’s death. Kayla tells Steve about the argument with Marina and the tape. Roman urges her to have an attorney and Mickey meets them all at the PD and they listen to the tape together. Abe arrests Kayla for Marina's death and she spends what should have been her wedding night behind bars.

2/6 The morning of Kayla’s arraignment and bail hearing, Steve visits her in jail and assures her that they will set bail and she will be home tonight. Kayla’s bail hearing is set for $2 million! The courtroom erupts in outrage, that means they have to come up with $200K to free her. Caroline assures her daughter that they will raise the money and start making some calls. Kayla is devastated as she is taken back to jail and faints before she leaves the courtroom. Steve screams out for an ambulance. Victor offers Caroline his help with bail but she turns him down. At the hospital, Neil warns Steve that both Kayla and the baby’s life are at risk as Kayla’s blood pressure is dangerously high. Neil is concerned that this trial is not good for Kayla or the baby as there is no way to take the pressure off.

2/8 Kim talks with Caroline and Shane about Kayla's bail money. Nick can’t liquidate the bail money needed and Shane’s money is also tied up. Victor tells Nico that he expects to soon hear from Caroline. At the hospital, Neil tells Steve and Kayla the stress of going back to jail can be harmful to the baby. Caroline goes to see Victor, just like he expected she would to ask him to pay Kayla’s bail. Roman tells Kayla and Steve her bail was posted. Kayla is relieved and gets a huge smile of relief on her face and is going home instead of back to jail. Kayla has a surprise baby shower as Steve brings her home from the hospital. Kayla is touched to see her friends and family in a fully decorated room.

2/9 Steve and Kayla talk before her preliminary hearing begins. He assures her that the charges will be dismissed and justice will prevail. He declares that Marina was fine when Kayla left her and is not guilty of murder. Isabella arrives to see Kayla. After Kayla testifies, Steve gathers her in his arms and comforts her.

2/12 Kayla is ordered to stand trial in Marina's death. The judge announces that for her health and her baby’s that the case will be fast tracked and begin on Wednesday! They arrive home and he is so sweet with her, she thanks him and he reminds her that he would do anything for her. She is being realistic and all of this talk of them being together is just a fantasy. He places his hand on her belly and he tells her this is what is real, their baby. Kayla has a fantasy of them living their happy life with their baby. Steve brings in a bag of stuffed animals as he promised to spoil their baby, as she is imagining a happy future. Steve wants to take off with Kayla, but she refuses. She questions what kind of life would that be for their baby? He doesn’t care, he asks what kind of life will it be for the baby without a mama. Steve and Kayla snuggle up with his head on her lap as they enjoy these minutes together.

2/14 Very Glitchy. Kayla wakes up to Steve taking to the baby in her belly. She can’t believe he let her sleep in this late. He wishes her a Happy Valentine’s Day and gives her a heart shaped box and he does bring a smile to her face. It looks like a box of chocolates, but inside is a baby bracelet that can be engraved. He gives her a list of baby names, “Babalu” and “Lightening” and makes her laugh. She looks at him gratefully, and tells him that only he could make her laugh today. He asks her to remember in court today all the good things they have to hold onto.

First day of Kayla's trial, when she arrives, Caroline assures her this will all be over very soon. Caroline is called to the stand and testifies that she killed Marina! Caroline is then arrested as the courtroom erupts in disbelief and shock! Later at home, Steve worries when Kayla is so quiet. She tells him that when they have the baby that they will be together and nothing bad can touch them.

Dvd #18C 2/16 Kayla and Steve visit Caroline in jail. Kayla tries to get Caroline to tell the truth, that she didn't kill Marina, that she is in jail to protect her but Caroline insists that she killed Marina. Roman comes in and informs her that someone saw her the night that Marina was killed. Victor comes in and informs them that there is no way that Caroline could have killed Marina as she was shopping that night. They can prove she was nowhere near the Salem Inn that night, they have surveillance tape to prove it. Caroline breaks down crying in Kayla’s arms that she is sorry, she just wanted to help her.

The judge orders the trial to resume that afternoon! Steve is forced to testify against Kayla, as she starts to have pains. Then she testifies and ask the prosecutor is increasingly confrontation and attacking her. She gets pains and clutches the baby bracelet that she is gently holding. Steve says sees her in distress as the prosecutor is screaming in her face that she killed Marina. Steve sees her face as her pains increase as she looks at him and whispers, “Steve”. He jumps up and rushes to her defense and gets the prosecutor away from her, as the bailiff goes up to Steve, Mickey steps in front of him to complain to the judge. As the noise in the courtroom has erupted and all the commotion, Kayla tells him the baby is coming with joy on her face that it is finally time.

2/19 Good quality. Kayla tells Steve the baby is coming, and he asks how long since she has been having pain? She admits since this morning and she wasn’t sure, but now she is sure that she is in labor. Mama Caroline realizes what is happening and will call the ambulance. At the hospital, the whole family is there waiting for her as she arrives by ambulance (LOL, they got there before she did - well maybe Roman did lights and sirens escort to get Shawn & Caroline there). Neil greets her and takes her off. Jo, Adrienne, and Justin all arrive at the hospital. Jack can’t believe that he has to wait, that he can’t just sit and wait, he is so nervous.

Marcus greets Steve as they are both estactically happy about the impending birth. Steve sees a nervous fidgety Jack and tells him he is too busy to hold his hand right now. He puts Jack to work by asking him to keep the press away from Kayla. Steve can’t believe it when Neil tells her it is another two hours in labor. Steve freaks out when Neil leaves the room! He is at a bit of a loss as she goes through a contraction. He onerously and excitedly reassures her and promises her they are going to get through this. As Kayla’s labor intensifies, Steve and Kayla are face to face as he revels in them having a baby. He encourages her to use a focal point and talks her through the next contraction. He then teases her about falling asleep on him the night she drank too much and fell asleep on him. He continues to distract her with memories and a long flashback of their wedding vows on the yacht.

Out in the waiting room, Jack and Roman overhear a nosy reporter asking demanding questions about Kayla. Roman is ready to bodily remove the guy, but Jack stops him and asks Roman to let him handle this nuisance. Jack grabs a nearby pay phone and pretends to call Vern to loudly update a scoop that Kayla has been moved to Salem Hospital and the reporter runs out. Kayla and Steve are with Neil in the labor and delivery room and Stephanie Kay Johnson is born. 2/20 Glitches. As Stephanie is born, Neil puts the baby in Kayla’s arms and Steve stares at their little miracle as he tells Kayla how very much he loves her. She smiles up at him, full of hope and joy, all of their troubles forgotten. She then puts the baby in Steve’s arms, as he cradles her tenderly remarking how tiny and beautiful she is, the proud papa. He declares this is the best day of his life and thanks her for this gift. Neil soon arrives to whisk the baby off to be weighed and measured. Steve urges Neil to be careful. The happy couple takes a moment of alone time together. He tells her that he has a name picked out. He wants to name the baby Kayla. She says that would be confusing, but he points out that if it was a boy that she would want to name the baby after him. She asks him what he thinks about the name Stephanie? He agrees that he likes It but wants her middle name to be Kayla. She asks what about just Kay? Stephanie Kay.

Steve goes out to the waiting room and tells the relieved and excited family that a baby girl has been born! Neil comes out and says only the grandparents can come in to see the baby, everyone else can see her at the nursery window. Kayla and Steve's baby is born, and they name her Stephanie Kay. A pregnant Sheila is in the room next door and stops in to say hello to Kayla, she tells Kayla she has a high risk pregnancy. Soon Neil brings Kayla her baby girl to love and hold those tiny little fingers. Steve watches this tender moment as Kayla coos to her baby how much her and her daddy love her and promise she will be the happiest little girl in the world.

Caroline comes in and holds her granddaughter. Kayla tells her she understands why she tried to take the blame for her, as Kayla would do anything for her baby. Jo and Shawn come in to see the baby and Jo happily holds her first grandchild. After they leave, Marcus sneaks in Kimberly, Adrienne, and Roman as the newest “interns” breaking hospital policy. Jack comes in wearing a nurse’s hat and scrubs, filming everything on a video camera. Steve pulls Roman aside and asks him if there is any update on the case? Steve tells him they have to get Kiriakis to keep Kayla out of going back to court. Steve promises that Kayla has Stephanie now and he isn’t going to let anything ruin that. Neil comes in and laughs to see all the rule breaking family members and ushers them out telling them the new mama needs her rest.

2/21 Bad Glitches. Steve arrives with a locket for her to put a picture of Stephanie inside and she says she will put his picture in there as well. She thanks him and he tells her that he should be thanking her as she does all of the giving. He just wants to get his two girls home. She worries about the trial, but he reassures her that he and Roman are working on getting her cleared. He heads out to go check in with Roman. Kayla stops in to see Sheila who very matter of factly reports that she lost her baby showing no emotion at all. When Steve arrives back in Kayla’s room, she is sad over Sheila’s loss and Steve holds and comforts her.

2/23 Glitches. Steve and Kayla arrive home with the baby as a photographer is waiting on their front porch and starts taking pictures of the baby and begins asking a ton of questions. Steve suggests that the photographer gives him the film and then gets out of there. The young family enjoys some time alone enjoying their moment of bliss. Steve makes promises to his baby girl as Kayla listens in. Soon Marcus and Grace arrive and hang with Kayla while Steve has to go out. He heads down to the docks looking for info on Victor. When Steve returns, he comes bearing a yellow rose. Kayla questions if he found anything out when he returns. He doesn’t answer but tells her that he isn’t giving up. She asks him to for just today. He is hopeful Roman will come up with something. She wants to talk about anything else and starts kissing him and asks him to just hold her.

2/27 Good quality. Steve and Kayla enjoy some quiet time alone with their baby girl, but she hates to leave the baby already. He tells her it is just for the day to go to court. Steve advises that when she testifies that she just look at Steve and think about their baby. Roman arrives to visit. S&K take the baby to Caroline’s as she is going to baby sit. Kayla testifies in court. The prosecutor badgers her into admitting that Marina fell and hit her head during their confrontation. Kayla insists that Marina was fine when she left but the prosecutor declares that she admits that Marina hit her head and Marina died of a head injury.

2/28 Good quality. Mickey thinks Kayla should change her plea to Involuntary Manslaughter. Kayla asks if that would mean that there is a good chance she wouldn’t go to jail. Steve is against it as there is no guarantee of her not getting jail time. Kayla agrees with Steve on not admitting guilt against Mickey and Roman’s objections. Mickey urges Roman to talk to Kayla again about her pleading out. Kayla doesn’t want to hear it and refuses again. She tells him that she has come this far and is going to see it through. Kayla is found guilty as she looks on in shock, her eyes filling with tears as Steve holds her in his arms and she clings to him. Roman promises them that he will get to the bottom of this. She cries to Steve about not being able to be there for their baby. He promises her that this is going to work out and she will be released. She tells Steve that she needs Stephanie to be with her and he agrees and assures her whatever she needs.

3/2 Good Quality. Steve sees Kayla in jail and she tells him about having a terrible nightmare. He tells her he has already talked to Mickey about her keeping Stephanie in jail with her. He tells her next is the sentencing and he is hopeful that she will get a suspended sentence until he can find the real killer. She cries at the idea of being separated from him and her daughter. Mickey argues for leniency given she is a new mother and has family strong ties in the community and no previous record. The sympathetic judge tells her that given all the evidence and the seriousness of the crime that he can’t let her off without any jail time. He has to impose the minimum of 15 years with possibility of parole in 8 years! Mickey then argues for Kayla to be able to bring her baby to prison in a pilot program of keeping a baby with their mother.

A social worker will be assigned to evaluate the appropriateness of this placement. After a devastated Kayla is taken away, Jack approaches Steve and offers to try to dig something up to help. Steve reminds him they both know who killed Marina, sure that Victor did it. The social worker meets with her and Steve and asks questions about placing the baby in a prison. Steve declares that his baby girl needs her mama more than her father or a new home or a new crib or anything else. Kayla declares that her daughter needs her but no one can take care of her baby like she can, nor love her like she can. The social worker says this is a serious consideration placing a newborn in prison and she will have to review this case and let them know her decision.

3/5 Kayla worries to Steve that they may not allow her to take Stephanie with her. Jo visits Kayla and she asks her if she is making the right choice? Jo says that is not up to her to decide. Kayla asks if she is being selfish and Jo says she is not, she is a mother. Kayla commiserates that she understands now why Jo gave up her children for a better life. As they discuss it, Steve walks in and overhears and begins to truly understand the love and sacrifice his mother made to keep him safe. The social worker arrives to tell them she has approved Kayla taking Stephanie to jail with her as she believes it is in the baby’s best interests to be allowed to stay with her mother. It is time for her to go to prison and the reality hits her and she is very scared.

She asks Steve to take the baby’s bracelet to think of her and Stephanie. She tells him how much she is going to miss him and he is in her heart and every time she looks at Stephanie, she will think of him. Steve holds his baby girl and says goodbye to his ladies. When Kayla arrives at a jail, a guard assures Kayla that she owes Roman and to let her know if she needs anything. As the jail door shuts behind her, Kayla holds her daughter and loves on her but it is for a very short time as the guard returns to take the baby for the night. A sad Steve walks the dock alone, lost in his thoughts of love for Kayla and his daughter and vows to love them always.

3/7 The next morning, Kayla hears an alarm go off and cries out for the guard. As she runs by, she tells Kayla a prisoner started a fire in an escape attempt. She cries out if the baby is safe in the nursery and fears for her baby’s safety. The guard brings her daughter for a short visit to reassure her as she knows she was scared for her baby. Kayla tells her little one that if anything happened to her that she would never forgive herself. She comes to the sad realisation that prison is no place for her baby daughter.

3/8 An upset Kayla calls Steve and asks him to come right away. He is worried as he hears the upset in her voice. She assures him that she and the baby are fine but she needs to see him. The guard arrives to give Kayla 30 minutes with her baby and then she has to go to the mess hall for dinner. Kayla asks to skip dinner but is not allowed to, that is the rules. Steve goes to see Kayla, and he assures her that she will be out of jail soon that he is working on her release. He calls her his finance and can’t wait to marry her. She asks him to take Stephanie home with him. She sobs heartbroken after he leaves with the baby. Sweet scene as Steve is back home, holding his infant daughter and talking to her.

3/9 Stephanie is crying and Steve is flustered trying to care for her by himself. When the doorbell rings, Steve prays it is Jo or Caroline, any of the grandmas. It is Macus and he offers to babysit while Steve goes down to the PD. He is desperate that Fred signs his statement witnessing that Victor dumped Marina’s tape recorder in the river. Isabella calls Roman shakily begging him to come down to the pier. He and Steve rush down and find the witness is dead and won’t be testifying against Kiriakis. Steve doesn’t trust Isabella and thinks she is working with Victor. Roman tells him to cool off as they are going to get Victor. Steve returns home and holds his baby daughter.

3/13 Steve places an ad in the newspaper for a nanny. Sheila, the woman Kayla met in the hospital, who lost her baby calls and applies for the job under the name Kelly Parker. Steve hires Kelly as Stephanie Kay's nanny, not knowing she is actually crazy Sheila.

3/20 Steve goes into see Roman and asks him if there is any news. He is going to go see Kayla and he would like to give her some good news. Roman tells him that he is working on an angle and it maybe something or it maybe nothing. He doesn’t want to get their hopes up yet. Steve visits Kayla in jail. He tells her he misses her so much. She doesn’t want to talk about it as that is too painful. He tells her that Roman may have a new lead. She asks how he has time to work on the case while taking care of Stephanie. He tells her that he hired a nanny. He can tell she is upset and asks if she is jealous of him with another woman? She says no that it is just the idea of another woman taking care of her baby. He surprises her by bringing the baby with him so she could see her daughter. Steve heads back to see Roman and overhears that he is heading to Italy tonight. He is going to tag along as she is headed there to resolve her father’s estate. Roman shows Steve an earring that was found in Marina’s room and this could be the lead on who really murdered her.

3/22 Back home, Steve gets a nasty phone call about Kayla not deserving to have her daughter with her. Steve is furious and ready to kick some butt. He yells at Marcus when he arrives that the phone has been ringing off the hook all morning. Marcus shows an unpleasant article in a local paper. Marcus points out that Steve’s brother works for a rival paper and maybe he can help swing public opinion.

Steve goes to Jack and asks if he saw the front page of The Chronicle today? Jack admits that he did. Steve gives him a glowing article about Kayla that Jack says he can’t print on the front page as it is an opinion piece not news. Steve is furious when he feels Jack isn’t helping him and he storms out. He confides in Jo when he returns home, frustrated with Jack’s lack of help, that Kayla may never get out of prison early. He declares that Mr. Hyde is back as Jo tries to defend her son. She reminds him he is dealing with the loss of his baby brother, Angelica’s baby. He agrees that perhaps he jumped the gun. When he arrives back at Jack’s office, he is reading out loud an article that Jack has written about Kayla. He tells him that he is sorry to hear about the plane crash that killed Alexander and Angelica. It is obvious that he is grieving over the loss of the baby he considered his little brother. Steve points out that he has a niece now and he can come over to visit any time. He gives Steve a baby carrier that Jennifer had bought for the baby. Jack promises that his article will be on page one and Steve appreciates his help.

Steve later goes back to thank Jack for the article he wrote, that he did something nice for her in writing the article. He observes that might really help. Steve reassures Jack that he is not Harper that he knows jack is trying to make up for the past. Steve states that if he can get past Earl Johnson, their sick father, that Jack can get over Harper.

3/27 Jack meets Steve and Kayla's nanny “Kelly" when he arrives at their house and introduces himself as “the brother”. Jack holds Stephanie, cooing at her. Steve comes home and watches the tender side of his brother. Jack babysits Stephanie when Kelly has to leave for a bit. Jen comes over, and ends up helping Jack. Sheila (Kelly) goes to visit Kayla in jail, as they talk about Sheila's recovery from losing her baby. Kayla doesn’t know that Kelly and Sheila are the same person. Steve goes to visit Kayla and just misses seeing Kelly coming out from seeing Kayla. Steve tells about filing an appeal and gives her a picture of Stephanie.

3/28 Roman visits Kayla and she is hopeful he brings good news. He disappoints her when he says it won’t be that easy to wrap up this case. Roman tries to reassure Kayla that Isabella has a heart and is loyal and nothing like Marina. She realises he has feelings for Isabella. Roman cries when it is time to say goodbye. He promises that he is working on this case and everything else has to be put on hold. Roman tells her that when pop got sick and he had to take over as head of the family, Bo and Kim fought taking orders from him but Kayla supported him 100% and gave him the confidence that he could do it. He tells her that now he has the chance to pay her back.

Steve visits and tells Kayla the appeal was denied. Victor listens to a tape of Marina and Isabella arguing followed by a crash. He says to himself that he will protect Isabella from learning she killed her sister, no matter what or who it costs. Steve arrives next and places Stephanie in Kayla’s arms. She cries as she asks Steve if he thinks Stephanie misses her. He assures her that she will be coming home again! He tells her that the next time she feels like she is losing hope to remember this sweet little face.

4/3 Steve confronts Roman at the PD demanding to know how many messages does he have to leave him before he gets a call back. Roman tells him that he has a break in the case but it is confidential and he can’t discuss it with him as it is a sensitive lead. Steve can’t believe that Roman is holding out on him and demands to know about the information. Roman tells him he has to handle this part of the case alone but promises him that he is closing in on this case. Steve suggests that Roman go down to the jail and look Kayla in the eye and tell her to hand in there, in an attempt to remind Roman what is at stake for her.

4/5 Steve calls Roman and tells him that he found Clyde, the guy Roman is looking for. He asks him to come over. Kelly overhears Steve assuring Stephanie that her mother will be coming home real soon. When Kelly asks, he tells her that he is expecting a break in the case real soon.

4/6 A maid tells Steve that the manager of the hotel was wrong, there were two lamps broken in Marina’s room the night of her murder. Jo visits Stephanie and gets a hinky vibe from Kelly/Sheila when she won’t leave the baby. Jo assures her that Kayla will be out of jail soon and will want to take care of her daughter herself. Sheila declares that Stephanie is her baby and she locks Jo in a closet and kidnaps Stephanie.

4/9 Jo beats on the door begging Kelly to let her out. Meanwhile, she is packing up the baby’s things and takes off with her. She declares that she won’t let anyone take her away. Steve finds evidence to clear Kayla when he learns that a second lamp was broken later that night.

4/10 Sheila worries when Stephanie doesn't eat. Kim pleads for Stephanie's return on her radio show, "In Touch” as Sheila listens in while holding baby Stephanie.
