Steve & Kayla #24 May 17 - October 3, 2007: 8 hour edit
DVD #24A 5/17 Steve pressures Shawn they have to go now, but Bo still thinks they should wait. Bo doesn’t trust Steve but Shawn points out that he has no choice, he has to go after his girls. Bo and Steve almost come to blows, but Shawn breaks it up. He agrees to give Bo an hour to find Philip another way before he goes with Steve.
5/18 Bo finally convinces Shawn to go through legal channels rather than take Steve up on his offer to go after Philip in his seaplane. Then Gabby rushes in with a portable marine radio, announcing that Belle's trying to make contact. Before Belle can reveal the name of the island where Philip is taking her and Claire, Shawn loses reception. Steve wants to know why Bo's so dead-set against him helping Shawn. Bo tells Steve he's a walking time bomb and he doesn't trust him! Desperate to save Belle and Claire, Shawn doesn't care if Steve's been sent by E.J. to kill them. If Steve's willing to go after Philip, Shawn's going with him! Bo ultimately decides to join them, and Shawn and Gabby share an emotional good-bye. Once they're aloft, Shawn scans the ocean with infrared binoculars and spots Philip's boat.
Steve drops Shawn off in an inflatable raft. Later, Steve asks Bo if he got Shawn to go on record about E.J. Suspicious Bo questions why he's asking, but Steve isn't forthcoming. Bo says he did, and is going to use it to nail E.J. upon his return to Salem. Steve says he's sorry but he can't let Bo do that.
5/21 In the seaplane, Steve pulls his gun on Bo and demands the statement Shawn signed to incriminate E.J. Bo refuses and reminds Steve of their tight friendship. Steve warns Bo not to test him. Bo insists Steve isn't a killer. Steve lets down his guard for a moment, and Bo wrestles the gun away and tosses it out the window. Steve then puts the plane in a nosedive, saying if Bo doesn't give him the document, he will kill them both.
5/22 Bo and Steve return to Tinda Lau to get the document Shawn signed indicting E.J. Wells. Gabby retrieves the paper for Bo, who then refuses to hand it over to Steve. Steve pulls out a knife and is about to kill Bo, when Kayla arrives. Kayla puts herself between Bo and Steve, telling her husband he'll have to kill her first. Steve rushes at Kayla with the knife, but he can't bring himself to hurt her and breaks down. Kayla tells Bo she's going to stay with Steve on Tinda Lau and help him recover until he's no longer under E.J.'s control. Later, Gabby reports to Bo that Philip's boat has gone down at sea and the search is on for survivors.
5/23 Bo and Gabby learn that Shawn, Belle and Philip were plucked out of the ocean by the rescue team but that Claire was nowhere to be found. When the threesome arrives back at the Bikini Hotel, Shawn tells Bo about the life vest they put on Claire, complete with a tracking device. They should've been able to locate her in the water. He's devastated at the thought that his daughter might be gone, while Belle suffers from shock. After Bo presses, Belle breaks down, wondering how God could've done this to her little girl. Everyone is devastated when the rescue team calls off the search for Claire.
Holed up in one of the Bikini Hotel rooms, Kayla attempts to deprogram Steve. She tacks pictures of his family and friends to the wall, hoping he will not only remember the people and events but also connect to them emotionally. Kayla injects a reticent Steve with a relaxant medication, but he blows up, frustrated, yelling that none of these people mean anything to him. Kayla finally persuades him to keep trying.
5/24 Bo shows up at the pub with Philip as Hope, Marlena and Victor mourn Claire's loss. Bo explains that Shawn and Belle are at the hospital; Belle is being treated for shock.
6/13 Steve and Adrienne arrive at his and Kayla's suite to find Stephanie and her boyfriend, Jeremy, both in towels. Steve takes an instant dislike to the cocky Jeremy and pulls him into the corridor for a private talk about his intentions with his daughter. Later, Steve tells Steph he does not like Jeremy, and Stephanie lashes out.
6/14 Steve reiterates his dislike of Jeremy, causing Stephanie to blow up at him. Steph informs her father and Aunt Adrienne that she is going to work as a flight attendant on Jeremy's Vegas shuttle. Steve grills his daughter about the business; Steph gets fed up and leaves. A disheartened Steve laments that he screwed things up. Adrienne is supportive and suggests Steve invite Jeremy to dinner and welcome him into the family. Then one of two things will happen, either Jeremy will turn out to be a decent guy, or Steph will see on her own that he's a jerk and she won't be able to blame her parents. Steve sees the wisdom in his sister's plan.
6/22 The Brady clan gathered at the pub to discuss the latest threats from the newly returned DiMeras. The group realized in order to get the full story, they also needed Santo's letters to Colleen, but someone had to be close enough to Tony and Stefano to get inside the mansion. Steve arrived and offered his help, but Bo and company weren't ready to trust him. He left, disappointed and ticked.
6/25 Steve arrives at the DiMera mansion and when he doesn’t receive a warm welcome, he points out that he is responsible for Stefano getting a new kidney. He claimed he was there to make up for failing the DiMeras and to prove he was sincere, he informed them that Anna was with the Bradys, concocting a plan to get into the mansion to search for the letters Santo had written to Colleen. Following that, Stefano received a call from E.J., telling him that Anna was on the level, and they had nothing to worry about from her. Stefano hung up, distraught, knowing E.J. couldn't be trusted.
6/26 Stefano accuses E.J. of lying about Anna's intentions in Salem, Stefano knows she is working with the Bradys. E.J. lies that he just got bad information and asks how Stefano knows about Anna's plans. Steve appears and admits he's the source. Stefano tells E.J. he no longer trusts him. E.J. asks how he can win back his father's trust, and Stefano says he can start by picking up some trunks and delivering them to a plane in place of Tony, who has other commitments. Later, Tony arrives home, angry that Stefano sent E.J. to the plane in his place. Steve grabs Tony's bottle of wine, saying he'll put it on ice for his dinner with Anna.
6/27 Steve continues to act nutty to keep the DiMera’s off balance and believing his act. Steve startles Bo outside the DiMera mansion, revealing that he drugged the dinner wine. Over dinner, Tony questions Anna about why she's back in town. Suddenly the two begin to feel woozy and pass out, as does Bart (who also drank the wine). Hope quietly enters the room and searches for the letters. She finds them and snaps pictures with her cell phone. As she prepares to leave, Stefano catches her and demands an explanation!
6/28 Stefano corners Hope in his living room as Bo and Steve listen in from outside. Stefano realizes Tony, Anna and Bart have been drugged and demands to know what Hope is doing there. Steve races into the house, claiming to have summoned Hope. He makes up a story that he and Hope are having an affair, and to prove it to Stefano, he kisses her full-force on the lips. Stefano seemingly buys it and expresses his wish to see Hope around the mansion more often. Steve gets Hope out of there.
Stefano is furious with Tony for allowing himself to be drugged. Tony blames Steve, accusing him of playing both sides against the middle. Steve admits he made up the story about him and Hope, he just didn't want her to get hurt. He wins back Stefano's confidence by revealing Hope took pictures of Santo's letters.
7/3 Steve arrives at the Cheatin' Heart and greets Adrienne, who is the new owner. He bristles at the sight of Jeremy dancing provocatively with Stephanie. She complains that her father is making Jeremy nervous.
7/4 At the Cheatin' Heart, Steve apologizes to Jeremy for the way he has treated him and suggests a family dinner in the future with him and Kayla. Jeremy and Stephanie are surprised by Steve's turnaround, but privately, Steve still disapproves of his daughter's boyfriend.
The Bradys and the Hortons gather at Bo and Hope's house for a Fourth of July celebration. Kayla returns to town from her medical conference and is reunited with Steve. She learns Grandpa Shawn isn't attending the party to avoid questions about Colleen, but she ultimately convinces her father to come. The Bradys, Hortons and all of their friends pose for a family photo.
7/13 John and Steve laugh, not being able to believe Roman that E.J. ratted out his own brother. Roman informs them that E.J. wants to stop the feud but confesses he doesn't believe E.J. That's why he needs John and Steve to find E.J. Steve tells Roman that Tony would have to know that E.J. ratted him out. As John agreed that wherever E.J. is, he is in a whole mess of trouble. Steve slows John down and tells him he thinks Tony left his calling card. He decides to go, with John's gun, around back to see if it is booby-trapped. He breaks in the window as an impatient John beats the door in. The door was tied to a gun aimed at E.J. When the door opens, it will pull the trigger and shoot E.J. Just as John beat the door in, Steve jumps in front of the bullet to protect E.J.
Awhile later, Steve, E.J. and John, all unharmed, walk in the pub to tell Roman what happened. Just then, Sami and Lucas walk in and E.J. and Sami share a look. E.J. tells them that he is glad they are both out safe. Marlena says she is grateful. E.J. assures them that he does not endorse his brother's tactics. Roman asks E.J. if he is willing to set Tony up and be used as the bait. He says he will on one condition, that he be set up in the safe house. Outside the pub, Steve holds Ciara and Kayla tells him that she wants to have a second chance at being parents. She wants them to raise a baby together but Steve thinks she is joking and leaves.
7/16 An angry Stefano gets in "Tony's" car asking what it is he had done this time. Tony tells him that he had to eliminate Elvis and YES he actually said, "Elvis has left the building!" Stefano got very angry and told Tony that he was supposed to teach him a lesson, not kill him. Tony tells him it was for the best. Tony reminds him that he was the only loyal member of this family. He said E.J. was selling them out to the Brady's. Now that E.J. is "gone," they can claim the life of the twins for those stem cells.
Just then Steve climbs in the backseat, tells them that they look like they need a little "cheering up." He tells them that the Brady's have a theory that Tony is not who he says he is. He said if he is not Anthony DiMera then who would he be? Steve tells him they said the name "Andre." Tony threatens Steve, demanding to know why he is here. Steve continues to be a smart aleck and asks sports trivia questions Tony would know the answer to. "Tony" gets mad and pulls a gun on Steve ordering him to get out of the car. Stefano grabs the gun from Tony and tells him that they already had one horror tonight, they do not need another one.
Steve then informed a relieved Stefano and a surprised Tony that John saved E.J. Steve tells them that it's a good thing they have Steve or they wouldn't be able to keep up, then leaves. Stefano does not hide his disgust at Tony trying to kill his brother. Tony says that John Black came out of the coma just to irritate him. He says every time he gets close to solving the Brady problem, he trips over John. Stefano says that he has done enough damage and asks where the "poetry is in his soul." Tony asks him if he wants poetry or his life and health.
At the Brady Pub, Bo, Hope, Kayla, John and Marlena pondered the possibility of Tony not being the actual Tony. Anna walks in and affirms that that man is not her Tony. She shared a bed with him and that is not her Tony.
7/26 Steve is tending bar at Brady's Pub when Kayla walks in, glowing after spending time with Ciara. Kayla asks Steve if he'd like to have a baby. Steve says no, but Kayla won't accept that. She wants the chance to raise a child with Steve, which they didn't get to do with Stephanie. Steve points out Stephanie avoids him at all costs; he's not sure he's father material. Kayla disagrees and stays firm on her desire to adopt a child.
7/31 Stephanie and Jeremy have dinner with Steve and Kayla. Jeremy lays on the "perfect boyfriend" routine a little too well, and Steve sees right through him. Bo arrives and gives Steve the news about Roman, as well as the background check on Jeremy. Steve and Bo learn Jeremy has a criminal background, but before Steve can tell Kayla, she rushes off to the hospital to see Roman. Steve confronts Jeremy and Stephanie with his criminal record.
8/1 Stephanie is outraged that Steve had Bo run a background check on Jeremy. Steve insists it's a good thing he did; Jeremy has been arrested multiple times. Stephanie stuns her dad by admitting she already knew. Jeremy tells Steve he's changed and leaves so father and daughter can talk. Stephanie points out that Steve was also in trouble with the law when he was younger. Steve declares he doesn't want her dating Jeremy. Stephanie makes her choice and tells Steve good-bye.
8/6 Stephanie informs Kayla and Steve she's moving in with Adrienne. When Adrienne shows up, Steve admonishes her for not telling him. Stephanie says they haven't been a family since Steve came back, and storms out. Steve is sure he's lost his daughter for good.
8/10 Kayla is notified that an infant has been abandoned at University Hospital. As she bonds with the baby boy, Kayla confides in Lexie her wish to adopt another child. Abe introduces Mrs. Meyers, a caseworker from Child Protective Services. Mrs. Meyers is about to exit with the baby to put him in a foster home when Kayla blurts that she'll take care of him. Until someone finds the mother, she wants very much to be his foster mother.
8/13 Kayla tells Mrs. Meyers from Child Services that she wants to provide a foster home for the abandoned baby. Abe vouches for Kayla and contacts Mrs. Meyers' supervisor to expedite the process. Steve arrives and is thrown for a loop when Kayla fills him in. He's annoyed his wife did not consult him, and he doesn't think he'll be a good father, even temporarily. Eventually, Steve has a change of heart and Kayla is thrilled. She and Steve take home the baby boy, whom Kayla nicknames "Pocket".
Dvd #24B 8/14 Kayla and Steve bring baby Pocket home and Steve reminds Kayla it's only temporary. Kayla assures Steve that she knows and that she'll be okay when it is time to give up Pocket, but Steve says he knows her and that she won't want to let the baby go after a few days.
Stephanie walks in on Steve while he's holding the baby. Steve explains the circumstances, but she is upset and thinks that they are replacing her. Steve runs after her and tells her that she'll always be his "little sweetness" and nobody will ever replace her in his heart. Stephanie is calmed and tells him she loves him and good luck with the baby.
8/20 Kayla tells Steve that she has to go to the hospital and that she has arranged for Hope to mind the baby. Steve tells Kayla that he doesn't mind watching him, but Kayla says she has everything taken care of and not to worry about it. Steve is hurt and feels like Kayla doesn't trust him with the baby. After Kayla leaves for the hospital, he calls Adrienne for help.
She arrives with an armful of baby books to educate Steve. Steve looks at her in amazement and says he's not the reading kind of dude. He is more hands on, he just needs her to give him fatherhood 101. Adrienne laughs and tells him she can't teach him to be a father, he just has to follow his gut and let the good inside of him come out.
Steve realizes he needs to show Kayla he is capable and can be trusted to take care of the baby. When Kayla arrives home with the baby, she tells Steve that she's owes him a big apology, but Steve says not to worry- he's not sure himself about his parenting skills. Steve tells Kayla he's going to take care of the baby while she takes a bath.
Kayla comes in Roman’s hospital room to sign his discharge papers but tells him that she won't sign his papers to go back to work. Roman protests loudly that Andre DiMera is on the loose and he had to get to work finding him. Kayla offers a deal to sign them if he takes desk duty for two weeks. Roman tries to negotiate one week, but gives in after Kayla threatens to tell their mother he wasn't cooperating. Bo interrupts to ask where the baby is and Kayla says that Hope's watching him. Both Roman and Bo laugh and say it's a good thing she didn't leave him with Steve if the baby wanted to see his first birthday. Kayla defends Steve and says he will be a great father and then leaves quickly.
8/28 Steve and Kayla are visiting Hope when Benjy shows up. He's terrified his family will come after him since he turned his back on Stefano. Steve promises to protect him. Hope cordially allows Benjy to hide his car in her garage. Benjy goes outside to park his car, giving Hope a chance to ask Steve what he really thinks about having a baby. Steve admits he loves kids, but doesn't want to mess up another one. Steve, Kayla and Hope realize Benjy never returned. When Steve goes outside to check on him, he only finds Benjy's cap and suitcase.
8/29 Kayla, Steve and Hope try to find out what happened to Benjy. Steve blames himself and goes out to look, returning with Benjy's blood-soaked shirt. Bo gets a call that Benjy has been found in a dumpster, barely alive. He and Steve leave. Kayla confides in Hope that she doesn't know what she'll do if Steve loses his grip on sanity again.
In the alley, Roman joins Bo and they deduce from the deep cut in Benjy's side that this is where Stefano's donor liver came from! They go to the hospital, where Stefano is being wheeled into surgery. An apoplectic Steve grabs the cooler containing the liver section and spits that he won't allow Stefano to get it.
8/30 Steve refuses to hand over Benjy's liver section, preventing Stefano from going into the O.R. for the transplant. He threatens to pour bleach on it, but Bo knocks him down, and Stefano and the liver are wheeled off into surgery. Steve blasts Bo for playing by the rules while the DiMeras get away with hurting their families.
8/31 Heading out for the hospital, Kayla decides to leave Pocket with Steve, even though she's a bit nervous about it. Steve tells her not to worry. He has everything under control. But the minute Kayla walks out the door, the baby starts to wail. Steve tries every trick in the book to calm the infant, to no avail. He calls Hope, and she helps him see that Pocket is just hungry. Steve feeds him, and the baby turns into an angel. The incident, however, freaks Steve out.
9/4 Stephanie pays an unexpected visit to Steve and admits her dad was right about Jeremy; he's involved in something illegal. Steve takes pains not to judge, but strongly advises his daughter to steer clear of the troublemaking Horton. Stephanie argues that Jeremy deserves a second chance. Realizing the depth of her emotional involvement, Steve promises that he and Kayla will help Jeremy out.
Bo shares his plan to lure Andrew out of hiding. He will stage Stefano’s murder and wants Steve to be his faux assassin. Steve is concerned how Kayla will react.
9/7 Bo and Roman show up to escort Stefano for his ride home from the hospital, claiming Stefano needs protection. As they wheel Stefano out, Steve arrives. He swears he just wants to make amends with Stefano, but then whips out a knife and repeatedly stabs DiMera. Taking advantage of the chaos, Tony discreetly jabs a needle into Stefano's arm, knocking him out. Roman and Bo pull Steve away but not before Stefano is declared "dead."
9/10 Kayla went to the police station to be with Steve while he was waiting to be booked. Steve was joking around, having a lot of fun with his part in the fake death of Stefano, but Kayla was very upset about the thought of Steve being in jail again. Steve reminded her that it was all necessary to draw Andre out into the open, and she had to pretend to everyone, including Stephanie, that he had done it. Kayla argued that Stephanie had been through too much to be lied to. Steve agreed. Steve was led through the PD, and E.J. questioned him about who had put Steve up to faking E.J's father's death. Steve laughed, showed E.J. his bloody clothes, and gloated that the old man was dead.
9/11 Bo and Kayla arrived in Las Vegas and informed Chelsea that Jett was doing just fine at the hospital. Chelsea reported that she hadn't heard from Max or Stephanie, who had last been seen heading for the plane. Nick called Kayla, who quickly gleaned that Jeremy was with him in Salem. Over the phone, Kayla blasted Jeremy for abandoning her daughter, making it clear that she and Steve had no intention of helping him. In fact, she wanted Nick to call Roman and report Jeremy to the police.
In Las Vegas, Chelsea confided in Kayla that Jett had told her he loved her, but she was not sure he'd meant it. After conferring with the FBI, Bo returned with sobering news. The Touch the Sky plane had landed in Mexico, but Max and Stephanie hadn't been on it. Rawlings had escaped, but the foreign girls had confessed that he'd thrown Max and Stephanie off the plane. Bo and Kayla took off to join the search and rescue team.
9/12 At the cave, Max and Stephanie were starting to make love when Kayla and Bo arrived to rescue them. Kayla told Stephanie that Steve had been arrested for Stefano's murder, but it was a trap for Andre. Stephanie explained that she had feelings for Max, not Jeremy, who had run out on her. Kayla informed her that Jeremy had gone back to Salem, wanting Steve's help, which left Stephanie feeling confused.
9/18 Bo met with Steve to devise a plan to find Roman, who, unbeknownst to them, had been buried alive. Steve raced Pocket to the hospital with severe gastric upset and learned that the baby had apparently been poisoned.
9/19 The doctor informed Steve and Kayla that Pocket had ingested a toxic substance. Steve feared he hadn't washed his hands after using a spray cleaner. Kayla assured Steve that couldn't have caused Pocket to get so ill.
Steve and Kayla's return interrupted Stephanie and Jeremy. Stephanie quickly told Jeremy he could stay in her room. In order to keep him from being found out, Stephanie told her parents she wanted to move back home. Later, Steve found Jeremy's pilot license on the floor.
9/20 Jeremy hid at Stephanie's house when Kayla walked in with Pocket. She realized someone was there when she spotted a soda can on the bureau. She thought it was Stephanie and went to investigate. Kayla peeked in Stephanie's room and found nothing because Jeremy was hiding. She went to put Pocket down for a nap, enabling Jeremy to escape, but Kayla caught him and accused him of breaking and entering. Jeremy told her that Stephanie had let him in. She didn't believe him, but he showed her the key.
Jeremy admitted it had been his idea but that Stephanie had been against it. Kayla accused him of being a manipulator. He said it had been a mistake going there. Kayla told him that Stephanie had committed the crime of harboring a fugitive and told Jeremy he was not going anywhere without a police escort. Jeremy said he would turn himself in when the time was right. Kayla didn't believe him. Kayla ran through all the trouble that Jeremy had caused, and Jeremy asked for mercy, but Kayla wasn't about to give it to him.
Kayla grabbed the phone, but Jeremy stopped her. Jeremy reminded her that if he were turned in then Stephanie would go down, too. Jeremy called Stephanie's cell phone so she could hear what was going on. Kayla reminded Jeremy that he was a Horton and shouldn't be acting like that. Jeremy said that the Hortons were worried about everyone else, but he got ignored.
Kayla told Jeremy to grow up and figure out what kind of man he wanted to be, the pride or the black sheep of the Hortons. Stephanie showed up, and Kayla said she had some explaining to do. Stephanie stopped Kayla from calling the cops, saying Jeremy was the guy she loved.
Stefano and Rolf spoke with Stefano's attorney, Mr. Griffin. Stefano expressed distaste for Bo's plan. Steve walked in, and Stefano was not happy with him either. Stefano said he would press charges against Roman, as well, but Steve reminded him that Roman was "on ice." Stefano was not in the mood for Steve's "theatrics". Rolf forbade Steve to be there but didn't get far with that rant.
Steve asked Mr. Griffin how Roman had disappeared the same night he had gone looking for Andre. Stefano tried to convince his lawyer that Steve was a crazy person. Mr. Griffin stated that Stefano had a slam dunk case against the Salem Police Department. Mr. Griffin left, and Stefano dismissed Rolf so he could talk to Steve alone. Stefano admitted he didn't know where Roman was or how he was doing.
Steve said he didn't care, either, and proceeded to make fun of Roman. Stefano loved that and gave him a hand. Stefano was tired of Steve and announced the final curtain call for him. Steve said he had to cooperate with the police. Stefano tried to give him a guilt trip and threatened the entire Brady family. He said Steve had made a huge mistake and would live to regret it.
Rolf and security returned because of the yelling. Steve apologized and tried to convince security to put the gun away. He whispered to security to call Bo Brady for "the scoop." Steve tried to make a deal with Stefano, but Stefano was not interested in hearing about it. Steve mentioned Andre and said goodbye. Stefano stopped him. Steve said the Salem police knew where Andre's hiding place was. The leather folio was mentioned, and Steve said the Salem Police Department wanted to get to Andre and the folio.
Steve said that Bo knew Steve was with Stefano, but it didn't matter. Steve wanted a promise from Stefano that he would not hurt Benjy and wondered why Stefano hadn't asked how Benjy was doing. Steve said if Stefano stayed away from Benjy, Steve would make sure Andre was two steps ahead of the cops. Stefano said Benjy was not Steve's family, but Steve disagreed. He told Stefano to stay away from Benjy and all of his family. Rolf was listening in.
Stefano said he would never hurt a child and asked where Andre was. Steve said the police had received an anonymous tip of his hideout and were waiting for Andre to show up. On Steve's way out, he said Stefano had better drop the charges against the Salem Police Department. Rolf asked security to help Stefano to the car as he placed chalk marks on the door. Steve was hiding outside and saw the marks.
9/21 Steve showed Bo the chalk markings Rolf had left at the funeral parlor for Andre. They hid and waited for Andre to show up for the coded message. They hoped he'd lead them to Roman and the leather folio. Andre arrived, read the markings and entered the parlor to retrieve a hidden piece of paper. Bo tried to read the paper from his hiding spot but couldn't, so Steve confronted Andre.
Steve tried to play like he was on the DiMeras' side, but Andre saw through his act and stabbed him in the gut. After Andre ran off, Bo attended to Steve, who'd managed to get the note, which warned Andre that he might have been compromised. Steve urged Bo to follow Andre, and Bo reluctantly left an injured Steve behind.
Stephanie begged Kayla not to call the cops on Jeremy. Stephanie pointed out that Kayla had stood by Steve when he had been in legal trouble back in the day, but Kayla balked at the comparison. She said she wouldn't call the cops if Jeremy turned himself in. She and Steve would even help him out. Jeremy said he'd been let down too many times before and left. Kayla called the police, and Stephanie lashed out at her mother.
9/24 Stephanie and Kayla are horrified when a bloody Steve shows up at the suite and passes out from his stab wound. Kayla revives him and insists he be taken to the hospital. Steve protests, saying he needs to wait in case Bo calls for help. He relents once he learns Bo is fine. While waiting for medical attention, Steve overhears Abe questioning Stephanie about giving Jeremy a place to hide. As Kayla rushes off with Steve to the hospital, Stephanie offers to stay behind and watch Pocket.
9/25 Stephanie visits Steve in the hospital. He asks if she's heard from Jeremy, and she reports that he took off after telling her to forget about him. When pressed, Stephanie confesses she probably still loves him. Max arrives and overhears. After Kayla joins the group, Stefano arrives, claiming to want peace between the families. Stefano explains that Andre is out of control and he's worried what he'll do to E.J. Stefano guarantees that no Brady will ever suffer again if they will abide by the terms for ending the vendetta.
9/27 Steve and Bo are talking about the vendetta against the Bradys. Bo announced that he is going to find his pop and find out what happened as Lucas walks in looking for Sami. Bo asks Lucas about his leg but Lucas thinks Bo is avoiding something. Bo says that the folio contained information, rings and a marriage license and a letter from Santo that says when he and Colleen's souls are united then peace will finally come to the Brady family. Lucas says Sami won't marry E.J. and refuses to believe it but Bo says she is considering it. Lucas vows to stop it.
Bo receives a call and has to go to the cemetery to see Shawn. Steve agrees to wait for Abe to bring evidence. Abe shows up and says that the evidence was a chauffeur's uniform and puts together that the chauffeur drove the supposed empty coffin to the graveyard. Steve and Abe both realize that Roman must be in the coffin and dash to the graveyard. They get to the graveyard and start digging with other officers. They open the casket to find a dead Benji instead.
9/28 At the cemetery, Steve tries to revive Benjy, but it's too late. He's dead. Steve is grief-stricken that the DiMeras killed Benjy, and vows revenge. Abe tries to stop him, but Steve takes off in a blind rage.
10/1 Steve tries to gain access to Stefano at the hospital. He tricks the guard outside the door into leaving and strolls right into Stefano's room. Steve pulls a gun and vows that Stefano is going to pay for Benjy's murder.
10/2 At the hospital, Steve holds Stefano at gunpoint and confronts him over Benjy's murder. Stefano swears he had nothing to do with it; Andre is out of control. Steve takes Stefano hostage, heads over to a television station and hijacks a live news broadcast. Back at the pub, Sami and E.J. are in a frenzy as Roman's bomb has less than a minute to go before detonating. Andre is about to exit the pub but stops in his tracks when he sees Steve and Stefano on the news. Turning up the volume, the group stares in shock as Steve sends out a message to Andre: return Roman Brady alive or he'll execute Stefano on live TV.
10/3 Steve has taken over a live newscast, holding a gun to Stefano's head and threatening to kill him if Andre doesn't deliver Roman alive and unharmed. Meanwhile, Roman has a bomb strapped to his body and it's counting down as a horrified Sami and E.J. look on. Steve gives Andre ten minutes to arrive or he will kill Stefano. Bo and Hope arrive at the television station and Bo tries to calm Steve down by informing him that Andre is on his way to the station with Roman. Tony soon arrives dragging a bound and gagged Roman. Stefano assures Andre that the vendetta is over as Sami and EJ will be married, as Lucas argues. Andre tells them it is too late as dear Samantha is just a memory by now, and laments that she was a feisty one and sure put up a fight for a pregnant woman.
Bo asks Roman if what Andre is saying about Sami is true. Roman sadly nods his head as Lucas rushes out to the pub. Stefano asks what on earth has Andre down and shakes his head in grief, and calls Andre a fool. Bo tries to end the standoff by jumping Andre, but in the chaos, Andre takes Hope hostage as Bo tries to talk him down. Andre says that he doesn’t give a damn if Stefano dies. He warns Bo that from now on, he will be dealing with Andre DiMera. Bo reminds him that he is the one he wants, that he is a Brady after all. Bo reminds him that they have a deal of Roman in exchange for Stefano and he demands that Steve release Stefano. Andre says he has changed his mind as Hope is more valuable to him. Stefano orders him to release Hope but Andre just laughs.
**The End** |
