Luke
& Laura 1978 Episodes
Here are the descriptions for the 1978 episodes/scenes I have. There is about 12 hours total, though sadly most of this is very poor quality. I found some of them difficult to watch as the video quality is poor. But it was fun to listen to Bobbie scheming, see early Luke, very early Scotty & Laura (before their engagement) and everything else going on at PC at the time. So they are poor in quality but the only footage I've heard of from the 1978 time frame. These are for the real diehard fans only! The sound is good and I found myself enjoying just listening to them.
Some were obviously taped originally on a video camera, aimed at the
television. Because of this, however, you get a lot of screen flicker from
the lack of sync in the black burst pulse. These tapes begin in the aftermath of
David Hamilton's death. Laura in an argument, pushed him away from her, he fell
and hit his head on the fireplace and died. She is on probation, has a
probation officer (who spends an amazing amount of time following her around and
asking questions about her), she is living at home but with court mandated
curfews. She is due to go back to the judge for sentencing and she is very
worried that she will be sent to reform school. Of course this becomes Bobbie's
mission in life to sabotage Laura and make sure she is sent away, leaving Scotty
alone. There are several other storylines going on - lots of Richard Dean as Dr.
Webber, Leslie, Rick, Alan, Monica, Tracy were also prominent. There were other
storylines and other characters that I've never seen. The descriptions are
written mostly to the Laura/Scotty/Bobbie/Luke storyline but I tried to make
some notes about Alan & Monica since that stuff was interesting to watch too.
GH 1978 DVD #1:4 hrs Poor quality. These are complete episodes and include Bobbie, Luke, Laura, Scotty, Rick, Leslie, Monica, Alan, Heather, Jeff, ect.

Monica tells Bobbie that she is being overly dramatic. Bobbie
lies and says Laura came up behind her and hit her on the head and she fell to

concerned about Laura when it was poor Bobbie who was attacked by mean old
Laura. Next, Monica confronts Bobbie. Monica tells Gayle that she doesn't
trust Bobbie, who she believes is jealous of Laura and that Bobbie would do
anything to try and provoke Laura. Scotty tells Bobbie that if he finds out

Episode #4 November 20, 1978 Bobbie calls Luke and asks him to come to Port Charles to help her out, that some girl has done her wrong and she needs Luke's help to make her sorry she ever crossed a Spencer (Luke not yet shown). Luke meets up with Bobbie, he isn't too happy that he hasn't heard from her in a year. He figures that the only reason she called him is she needed something from him. Bobbie fills Luke in on Laura. She tells him that she can't get back at Laura as too many people know how much Bobbie dislikes her.
Rick & Monica share a moment after a touch and go surgery. Monica offers reassurance. Rick & Monica talk about the incident in the book room between Laura and Bobbie. Dan & Alan joke about Tracy loving a challenge. Later, Monica and Rick meet in the cafeteria and discuss the Laura and Bobbie incident. She tells him that she believes Bobbie has been goading Laura as she has seen Laura upset before after a confrontation with Bobbie. Monica says now that Scotty is seeing Laura again that she wouldn't put anything past Bobbie to hurt Laura. Rick says that if Bobbie pushed Laura into physical violence then Bobbie knows her vulnerability as Laura can't get over her lack of control the night she pushed David Hamilton and he fell and died. Laura fears that she will do something like that again as there is some defective in her personality and Bobbie is obviously trying to manipulate that fear.
Rick thanks Monica for intervening as he doesn't know what could have happened. Alan comes up and Rick makes his excuses to leave as he is still worried about his patient. Monica tells Alan it would be good for them to spend some time together. Alan tells an estatic Monica that he got his test results back and there is no reason why he couldn't produce an entire regiment of Quatermaine's! They laugh over the look on Tracy's face when she discovers she is going to be an aunt. Tracy talks to an attorney and she wants control of her grandmother's trust fund for Ned. She is wants it done before Alan and Monica have a mail heir. But Tracy doesn't think that is going to happen as they have been trying and Monica is not pregnant yet.
Rick is upset after losing a patient and he tells her how much he appreciates her belief in him. She offers to go with him to talk to the patient's husband and tells him she will take care of all of the post surgery details so he can go home. Rick tells the patient's husband and Monica talks to him afterwards. He seems so distracted lately that she asks if there is something wrong besides him losing a patient. He tells her it is late and he is worn out. She tells him if he is troubled that she is there to help him if he needs it and asks him to tell her if there is anything she can do to help. Monica's understanding causes him to comment that she is "a real woman now in every sense of the word".
Steve and Jeff discuss the faked death certificate. Steve asks Jeff to join him for dinner so they can discuss the conspiracy. Jeff, Anne, Steve and Audrey meet for dinner. Jeff worries that Steven may have been sold on the black market. Jeff is trying to protect Heather as even the mention of Steven Lars' name reminds her of how sick she was at the time of Steven's death. Steve urges him to have Mitch run a background check on Cal to determine what type of man he is dealing with. Jeff agrees. Audrey then fills them in on the confrontation between Bobbie and Laura, of course she only heard Bobbie's version.
Heather visits Diana and PJ. Diana encourages Heather that she will be a wonderful mother. Heather admits that she prays every night that she will have a boy to make up for the son they lost. Diana asks if Heather has heard anymore from the strange man who called to tell her that Steve Lars wasn't dead? Heather quickly changes the subject by commenting it is past PJ's bedtime and she gets up to put him to bed. When she returns Diana brings it up again, Diana tells her that Jameson did call again that said that Steven Lars' death certificate was a forgery. Heather says she wishes Cal Jameson had never come into their lives, that he just opened up old wounds all over again. Diana is puzzled and observes that it would be the best news in the world if little Steven Lars isn't dead and instead of crying about it that she should be praying it is a forgery!
Heather says she is upset that Jeff has been keeping things from her but refuses to discuss it any further. Diana is surprised when Heather suggests Diana fire PJ's nurse so Heather can take care of him. Diana says it is out of the question as Heather is going to have her own baby to care for. Heather says she loves PJ like he is her own son. Diana's mother tells her after Heather leaves that she heard Heather call PJ "Steven Lars". Diana is glad she told her, sensing that Heather's interest in PJ may have gone father than she thought.
When Jeff sees Mitch at the bar, he goes over and asks him to run the background check on Jameson. Mitch pretty much dumps his evening with Tracy when Alan arrives and pawns her off on him. Susan flirts with Mitch on his way out and he promises to stop over and see her later.
Luke (with straight hair!) meets up with Bobbie, he isn't too happy that he hasn't heard from her in a year. He figures that the only reason she called him is she needed something from him. Bobbie fills Luke in on Laura. Luke is surprised that some little high school girl is a problem for Bobbie. He remarks that she has never had a problem getting rid of someone in her way. She tells him that she can't get back at Laura as too many people know how much Bobbie dislikes her. Luke asks what she wants then? Bobbie fumes that she wants Laura sent to reform school where she belongs but her fancy doctor parents got her released to probation. Bobbie is jubliant when Luke agrees to help her.
Episode #5 November 21, 1978 Just before Thanksgiving. Diana tells Peter about Heather's obsession wtih PJ. Peter gets a call that Beth has been in a car accident, Diana's mom immediately prepares to leave to be with her. Diana suggests to Peter that they have Heather come work for them to do the shopping and housekeeping. He is opposed to the idea but Diana pleads she doesn't want anymore strangers around her. She doesn't think Heather will get overly obsessed with PJ again and she won't be responsible for taking care of him. He reluctantly agrees. Heather is upset that Jeff didn't tell her that Steven Lars death certificate was a forgery. He excuses that he was just trying to protect her, that everyone has been telling him how important it is for her to keep calm. He believes in truth between a husband and wife and while withholding the info is one thing, he wouldn't outright lie to her about it and had to tell her when she asked. He doesn't understand her reaction and tells her it is a time of hope not angry. She says it is just such a shock and doesn't know where it is all going to end. He says that if his son is still alive that she won't rest until he finds him and they have their son back!
Alan tells Tracy that Lila is worried about the pace Edward keeps and that he is still driving himself around, Lila would like Edward to slow down. Tracy defends Edward's activity level and Alan snarks that is because she doesn't want him to slow down as he will probably leave the next million he makes to Tracy! Tracy changes the subject and questions Alan if he is okay and what the medical tests are for?
He assures he that he is fine and as a doctor of course he believes in routine check ups. She then questions if Monica is pregnant as Alan has been so attentive and protective towards her lately. He infuriates her with his avoidance of any direct answers to her questions and she fumes out of his office. Tracy is in a big hurry to get Gary out of town just before Thanksgiving. She is pushing him to meet with a literay agent and tells him they are interested in his book. She gives him a place to stay and encourages him to go to NY immediately. He is very grateful and she asks for a favor in return.

Susan is surprised at Heather's attitude as Susan would like to see Cal in jail! Heather tells Susan that she better call Cal off and get him off of this within the next few days or Susan will be sorry! Susan looks at her in complete shock. Susan says she doesn't respond to threats and she can get out! Heather tells her that she wants Mitch to forget all about Cal Jameson. Susan tells her that she can't butt in and tell Mitch to drop it. Heather states that Susan is devious enough to find a way.
Susan wants to know why Heather feels so threatened by this guy? Heather claims it is because the guy is obviously a criminal. Susan doesn't buy that as she points out that Mitch could put him in prison and then he wouldn't bother anyone. Heather says if Mitch wants to bring someone to justice that he can just go find someone else. She claims that she can't stand the reminders of Steve Lars and she needs to be calm and collected now. Susan says Heather will just have to work this out for herself as she can't expect the whole world to stop for the next 9 months while she has her baby.
Susan is curious and asks exactly what Heather is threatening her with? Heather asks if she would like her to go to Mitch and tell him the truth about Susan's divorce and let him know exactly what kind of girl Susan really is? Susan warns her that if she even tries anything like that, it will be the sorriest day of Heather's life! Heather is glad to see that Susan is frightened. Susan says Mitch is the best thing to happen in a long time and she isn't going to let Heather ruin it. Heather says the situation is now in Susan's hands.
Jeff tells Steve that he told Heather the whole truth and that Heather is starting to see that Steven Lars might be alive. Jeff says he didn't like keeping anything from her but he didn't her upset. Cal contacts Jeff and tells him to get the money together and warns him that if Jeff contacts the police that Cal will disappear and he will never see him again for find out what happened to his son. Heather arrives at GH and asks Jeff why he wanted to see her? He tells her that he just wanted to reassure her that he won't be keeping anymore secrets from her. He tells her that Jameson called him and that he wants to set up a meeting so obviously Jameson is coming back to Port Charles.
A worried Heather has a flashback of a conversation with a Mr. Frank Wallace about Cal Jameson calling and she is worried that Jeff will find out the death certificate was forged, that until Cal called that Jeff believed that their baby died in NY. Heather says she threatened Cal that she would go to police but that hasn't stopped him. She worries that if this Jameson knows that her baby is still alive, that he might know everything! Back at GH, Alan tells Monica that Tracy is trying to find out if Monica is pregnant. He tells her that Tracy has her eye on the trust fund and they are going to beat her to the punch. She tells her she doesn't know and can't confirm it. Monica asks Lila why Tracy is so threathened by the idea of Monica and Alan having children. Monica admits she knows the thought drives Tracy crazy and Monica has used this knowledge to get under Tracy's skin. Monica wonders if it is about her inheritance.
Lila doesn't think it is about the money as her and Ned will be well taken care of. Lila thinks it might be more about Tracy wanted to control the Quatermaine heir's trust fund. She admits that she believes that Tracy is the one who tried to break up Alan's wedding to Tracy Dobson by dropping hints to Alan that Tracy Dobson was only using him to get revenge against her first husband. Lila warns Monica that Tracy will stop at nothing to get what she wants. Monica observes like with her pursuit of Mitch Willams.
Alan & Monica in bed. Alan tells her the house will be hers one day as it is in Lila's name and she will leave it to them not Tracy (I don't think they are talking about the Q mansion but about a vacation home). Tracy mentions that Monica doesn't want to talk about it. Jeff doesn't either but indicates it wasn't a pleasant time for them, which peaks Tracy's curiosity.

He also complains that Jeff didn't return his message that he left with Bobbie Spencer. Jeff tells him that he never received the message. Jeff fills Heather in on the failed meeting with Cal.

Episode #9 November 28, 1978 Rick & Leslie in bed. Scotty calls Laura, she is very worried about her parent's marriage as she is picking up on the friction (mostly caused by Leslie's jealousy over Monica and Rick's feelings/friendship with Monica). Scotty reassures Laura and tells her that he would like to have that kind of marriage someday. He suggests to Laura that they go up to a lake to have dinner. She thinks it sounds wonderful but doesn't think her leaving the county will be okay. He promises that he will talk to her parents. He assures her that all he wants to do is to make her happy. Laura worries to Dr. Taylor about being sent to reform school. Bobbie calls Luke, she wants to meet him to go over her plan. Bobbie assures him that Laura will go on to reform school if it is the last thing she does! Bobbie hangs up, turns around and finds Scotty standing behind her. She nervously asks him how long he has been standing there (evidentially not long enough to overhear Bobbie's evil plan). Scotty begs Leslie to allow him to take Laura up to the lodge at the lake for dinner and promises her that he will be safe and have Laura back for her court imposed 9:00 curfew(imposed by the court).

Episode #13 December 6, 1978 Need Description
From this point, this is more of an edit rather than complete epis so there is a lot more of the Bobbie/Scotty/Laura storyline. Laura arrives home, late for her curfew. She left GH very upset and went for a walk. She tells her parents that she was upset after Bobbie introduced Scotty as her fiance to Luke (this scene not shown). Realizing how upset Laura is, Leslie asks Scotty to leave. Scotty assures the Webbers how much he loves Laura. Next Scotty talks to his parents and tells them he still plans on marrying Laura after Bobbie's baby is born as she has promised him a divorce afterwards.
Laura cries on Leslie's shoulder about how much she loves Scotty and that marrying him and spending the rest of her life with him is her most beautiful dream that she can't stand watching him marry Bobbie who she is convinced is only doing it to hurt Laura. Leslie suggests to Scotty that maybe Bobbie isn't really pregnant. He wants confirmation of the pregnancy. Scotty tells Bobbie that he won't marry her without it. Bobbie, panicked, goes to
Luke to ask his advice. She tells him that if Scotty finds out she isn't pregnant that he won't marry her. She assures him she has already seen her family doctor (not on staff at GH). Scotty insists that she be seen by Dr.
Gina Danforth at GH for a pregnancy test.
Luke comes to GH, and he and Bobbie overhear another patient telling Dr. Danforth that she is positive that she is pregnant with her fourth child. Luke tells Bobbie that all she has to do is switch the names on the blood tests. So later the doctor confirms Bobbie's pregnancy to her delight and Scotty's dismay. Scotty tells Laura how much he loves her, how much he dreads the idea of marrying Bobbie and he wants to know if Laura will wait for him. Laura says she will always be there for him and will wait. He is supposed to leave for Canada the next day.
Bobbie worries to Luke whether she will marry Scotty in time before he finds out about her scheming or her shady
past (as her blackmailer, Cal Jameson, is still in the picture). She swears to Luke that she will never give Scotty a divorce. Luke complains that he won't be there to give Bobbie away. Scotty arrives to pick Bobbie up, he is one very reluctant bridegroom. He is further annoyed when Bobbie tells him that Lee wants to give them a wedding gift and she wants to stop there on their way to Canada. He doesn't seem to want any gifts or any celebration of their plans.
When arriving at Lee's, Scotty is very concerned over how bad Lee looks. Lee says it is just the flu. Over Lee's objections, Scotty insists on taking him to GH and calls Gayle to meet them there. Lee is put into isolation and Scotty refuses to leave until he knows that Lee is okay. Bobbie is desperate to leave to get married. Scotty says it is no big deal if they wait till next week, Bobbie complains that will be too late. Scotty is clueless as to why another week will make any difference. Bobbie covers saying she has arranged for the time off from work already.
Jessie Brewer tells Bobbie that Dr. Danfort wants to see her ASAP. The doc tells Bobbie that the other patient is pregnant, they ran another test when the first one came out negative. The doctor believes that the tests were mixed up. Bobbie gets very upset at the suggestion that she have another pregnancy test. She refuses and says she
knows she is pregnant and will go back to her own doctor. Bobbie is not happy to find out that the doctor has called Scotty and filled him in. His hopes are raised at the possibility that Bobbie might not be pregnant.
Scotty then calls Leslie and fills her in. Dr. tells Scotty and Leslie that Bobbie may have overheard Mrs. Davenport (the other patient) talk about being sure she was pregnant. Leslie is sure that Bobbie switched the names on the tests. Laura arrives at GH and is upset to see Scotty and Bobbie there together, she thought they had already left for Canada. He tells Laura that there is still hope for them. She doesn't want to hear the details as she doesn't want to get her hope up. Laura has a session with Dr. Taylor and also talks with her probation officer.
