Luke, Holly & Robert #17 - Oil Scam continues, Luke & Holly hide out at GH, Amusement Park Location scenes - 8 hrs

#17A  Basil and Charles have breakfast, Basil fusses as the added complications are beginning to worry him. Basil is concerned about Holly's ability to get Luke to move and soon! Basil worries that Holly may have met her match in Luke Spencer. Basil heads over to Kelly's to remind Holly of her responsibilities and to tell her to hurry up and that she is putting her father under undue stress. He threatens her with Reginald and Oliver's wrath and that they will set her up in a nice English countryside and she can enjoy the view through the bars!

Robert and Luke show up at Tiffany's door, they want to check out her answering machine to see if Al Barker had left a message there before he was murdered. She is wearing a negligee and tries to get rid of them quickly without much luck as they ignore her until she finally kicks them out.

Luke walks into Kelly's to find Holly sitting with Basil. She quickly makes up an excuse about them having breakfast together. Back at the Star, Holly pushes Luke to open the escrow account as she is worried the Corso's will lose interest and move on with all of the delays. Robert assures her that the Corso's haven't stuck around this long to leave now. Holly tells them she is scared that they are going to blow this opportunity. Luke tries to kiss her and she says not now.

The phone finally rings and the shale results determine there is oil on the land. Luke starts yelling that they have oil and will be tycoons and he starts calling everyone. He calls the bank to open the escrow account and Holly looks relieved. She immediately heads over to share the goodness with Basil and her father. Basil isn't too excited and refuses to celebrate until they have access to the money once it is finally transferred from the escrow account into the corporate account. When he is alone with Holly, Basil subtly threatens that her father's continued good health is dependent on the success of this operation. Holly shakes her head in disbelief.

Back at the Star, Burt stops by to question Luke and Robert to see if they can provide any clues as to a motive for killing Barker. They are clueless but after he leaves, Robert surmises that the shale may have something to with his death. Robert continues that perhaps someone is going to a great deal of trouble to cover up that there is nothing actually on the land and that after Barker called Jackie's and left a message that someone broke in and erased the message, killed Barker and switched the soil samples.
Holly walks in on Robert's cover up theory and is quite shocked and expresses her displeasure with this idea as she points out that when they had the soil sample tested that it proved there is oil on the land. Robert believes that the samples may have been switched in the lab and that the first person to test it turned up dead! He goes on though to say that perhaps someone is going to extremes to convince them that there isn't oil on the land so they can swoop up and take it over and make a huge profit. Luke agrees and says that is just the kind of the thing the Q's would do.

Holly becomes quite upset when Robert suggests they send out another soil sample. She says that the escrow account is open and ready and people are ready to invest. The guys point out that the investors will appreciate the caution and it will only take a couple of days. Holly stomps out in a huff and says they are acting like amateurs; Luke reminds her that they are amateurs. Luke has the soil sample analyzed and gets a telegram that while the shale sample contains oil that it is not from upper state NY and is actually from Texas! Holly is frustrated and encourages Luke to believe the first two geologists and the presence of salt water that there is oil on the land. Robert comes in and Luke shows him the telegram and he agrees with Luke that they should exercise caution especially where their investors are concerned.

The gang holds another party on The Star and Luke asks Holly to invite the Corso's. She meets with them ahead of time and tells her father and Basil about the soil sample being identified as being from Texas. Basil is relieved that the institute didn't send an investigator to check out the discrepancy in locations. At the party, Jackie urgently comes in with a newspaper article about a local symposium and a picture of Van Gelder who will be attending. Luke agrees to have Van Gelder verify the oil find as he was the first to identify it and he is a well-known geologist. Holly is frustrated and flustered and doesn't understand the need for another survey; she is starting to crack under the pressure. However, when they get the call that the third well has hit salt water, Luke makes a big announcement to the gathering and the whole place celebrates.

Later, Luke has the confirmation he needed with the third well hitting salt water. Luke doesn't understand why Holly isn't excited. He points out that she was the one who tried to convince him that there was oil on the field and he wonders why now she isn't more excited. Luke believes she is spooked by the picture of Van Gelder and looks for it to take another look at it as he admits to her that the picture of Van Gelder doesn't look anything like the man they met with. However, the newspaper is missing. Luke says that he will go to see Van Gelder in the morning and get him to come out and look at the oil field again. Robert and Tiffany come in and they break out the champagne. A quiet Holly refuses the champagne and takes off, leaving a very puzzled Luke behind. He tells Robert that Holly is spooked and he understands it as there have been way too many coincidences and Luke does not like coincidences. Luke tries to reach Van Gelder at the hotel but he is out.

The next morning, fake Van Gelder calls Luke on the boat and wishes him congratulations on his oil field. Luke is surprised to hear from him and tells him he tried to contact him last night. They would like to talk to him before he leaves town and Luke offers to come to him at the hotel. Fake VG says he is on a time schedule but could stop by on his way to the airport. He confirms to Luke and Robert that he believes the land contains oil and that it is not to be expected in upper state NY and that the soil on the land is not typical of this area. He asks if Luke obtained a second opinion and Luke confirms this and VG says that Harper is very well known and an expert in the field. They breathe a sigh of relief though Luke still seems troubled.

Jackie comes in and is quite miffed at having the interview she was supposed to have with Van Gelder given to another reporter. Luke tells her that they talked to Van Gelder two days ago and he was on his way out of town. Jackie confirms Van Gelder is still in town as the reporter interviewed him this morning. Luke gets really nervous and says there are too many odd things; Al Barker's death, the report of the shale sample being from Texas, and now Van Gelder remaining in town after he specifically told him he was leaving. Luke and Robert wonder if Van Gelder was hiding the fact he was staying and head over to confront him.

Basil and Charles are having lunch with Edward, and Steve and the new Dr. Dante come by to say hello. Dr. Dante recognizes Charles and asks if he has meet him somewhere before. Charles denies it and once back in their apartment, Basil grills him. Charles and Holly fill him in on Charles having an attack and Dr. Dante treating him, when Basil is very annoyed Charles points out that he was wearing a beard at the time. Basil can't believe they gave their real names but Holly points out they weren't on an operation and had no reason to do so. Basil warns her to make sure her and Charles stay away from Dr. Dante as if he sees them together he may remember the circumstances of having met them. Holly proposes that they take the $750,000 from the Quartermaines and take off. Basil wants to wait for the $500,000 but Holly believes the risks have become too great. Basil demands that Holly have the $500,000 moved out of the escrow account into the corporate account. He tells her now is the time for her to turn on the charm.

Luke and Robert arrive at the hotel and just miss the real Van Gelder who checks out and walks right past them. They head to the airport but don't see the guy they know as Van Gelder and he gets on a plane. Luke calls Mrs. Van Gelder and she says her husband is going to Europe. As Luke is on the phone, Holly arrives at the airport looking for Luke. He fills her in on Van Gelder's presence in Port Charles and he says that something is not right, almost as if someone is keeping them from Van Gelder. He says there are too many coincidences, Al Barker's murder, the shale sample that was from Texas not PC, and now Van Gelder's elusiveness. Holly reminds him of the expert opinions who vouched for the oil, and the foreman's belief in the project. She insists on releasing the money into the corporate account. She reminds him this is her land and she demands that the money be released NOW! He says no that she got him into this and he isn't ready to release the money. She tells him she is sorry but she has her own plan!

Robert interviews the reporter who talked to the real Van Gelder and his description matches the man that Robert and Luke met with (even thought it was a different man). Tiffany tells Luke that Blackie's mother is in intensive care and it doesn't look good. Luke finds Blackie at the hospital. Great scene as Luke comes upon Blackie, his eyes full of tears. Blackie puts on a brave front but he is obviously hurting and scared. He assures Luke he is staying cool. Luke tells him it is okay to hurt and to feel things. Blackie admits he is scared to death, Luke hugs him.

Luke tells Robert that he and Holly had a disagreement. Laura T. comes in and gives Luke a note from Holly telling him that she is taking off for a couple of days to clear her head. Luke meets with the banker and is told there is $750,000 in the escrow account and it can be transferred into the corporate account whenever he is ready. Luke instructs him to leave the money in the escrow account.

Holly arrives back at Basil's apartment and Basil is furious that she took off for a couple of days and warns her that if she has jeopardized the operation that he will see her suffer. She says no harm was done that she just needed to clear her head. He grabs her and demands that she get back to work and get Luke to release the money out of the escrow account. As Holly is leaving, her father grabs his head and tells her he just feels a bit dizzy. Holly is very concerned about him and again wants to take the money and run.
She pleads that her father's health can't take much more, she calls it a serious "neurological ailment" (how's that for being vague?). Basil snarks that Charles just has a case of nerves and Holly's little trip out of town just put more stress on Charles. Holly warns him that Luke is shrewd, shrewder than anyone Basil has ever come up against. Basil says that Charles should have retired after the last operation. Holly is disgusted by his lack of caring. They regroup and Basil points out that since Dante can identify them that they have to be prepared to move out at a moment's notice and have to plan everything out, plan for all contingencies.

Robert tells Luke that the WSB have asked him for his services for the next couple of weeks in helping to wrap up a case that he and O'Reilly started. Holly returns to the ship and Luke is quiet, not understanding why she left without telling him where she was going. She tells him she went to the mountains and that she was too used to being on her own to give it up. He asks if he has been crowding her? She says no, not him, just all of the oil stuff, all of the uncertainty about whether they have struck oil or not and she is tired of feeling like a yo-yo. Holly suggests they just sign it over to the Corso's. Luke says he will just after he speaks with Van Gelder, Holly moans that he won't be back for 10 more days! Luke doesn't care and says the Corso's have waited this long and they can wait a bit longer. Holly throws her arms around his neck, perhaps happy at his agreement to turn over the money, or perhaps happy that they have 10 more days together.

Dante arrives on the Star with the Hardy's and a dashing Luke (he's wearing a tux) welcomes them. Holly arrives in her 20's flapper outfit, though no one else is in costume. Charles and Basil come in, and Charles grabs his head and falls to the floor. Holly runs over to him but Basil sees Dante and grabs Holly and pulls her away from her father. She is desperate to get back to him but Basil warns her off. Charles recovers and stands up and Dante remembers having treated him for a similar condition in England. Charles agrees suddenly seeming to also remember Dante and apologizes for not recognizing him before. Basil reintroduces themselves to Dante, doesn't ring a bell with him but he admits he is awful with names. Dante gets Charles to agree to go with him to the hospital for a quick check up, as Holly looks on from over Luke's shoulder trying to stay discreetly out of sight.

A concerned Holly arrives to see her father and demands that Basil allow her father to see a doctor at GH. He refuses as this could lead to finding out her father's true identity. Basil pushes her to get a hold of the escrow funds and tries to use her father's health as leverage and asks how she thinks her father will do in prison? Holly doesn't give into his threats and insists that her father needs a doctor and she wants to take him to Dr. Dante. He refuses as it is too dangerous but finally realizes that with treatment that perhaps Charles will be less likely to have another seizure which could impede their quick getaway so he agrees.

However, he is adamant that Charles not be treated at GH but go to a neighboring hospital where they aren't known. When Holly calls for an appointment, she is told it will be two weeks and is told they have limited neurological care and she should contact GH. She wants to call Dr. Dante for an appointment, Charles suggests that he take care of it and keep Holly away from Dr. Dante. Basil continues to be opposed but realizes he is fighting a losing battle on this one.

Basil meets with Luke and Holly and pressures Luke to proceed with the investment so they can begin the complicated and time consuming process of setting up the oil exploration. Luke questions Basil about some of the drilling specifics and Basil dances around the questions and bluffs that they have the most modern technology available and there have been many advancements recently and they have the most sophisticated equipment and setting it all up is a delicate and time consuming process and Basil doesn't have time to waste. He pushes a bit too hard and sparks Luke's suspicious nature. Luke is intent on waiting till Van Gelder gets back to town and checking with him before proceeding. After Basil has left, Luke comments that he made a technical error and pulls out a Texas oil magazine, which states that there have been few advancements in oil exploration since the 40's. Luke tells Holly that he doesn't trust Basil and isn't about to turn the money over to him and insists on having the Corsos checked out.

Luke and Holly meet with Dan Rooney and Luke asks Dan to check out the Corsos. Dan assures him that the Corso family is well known as being experts in the oil field. But Luke wants verification about these particular Corsos that they know what they are talking about and are legitimate. Holly tries to subtly suggest that perhaps Dan is too busy and has many other important things to take care of as though she doesn't want to impose on his time. Dan assures her that there is nothing more important to him than the oil project as the hospital has money tied up in it as well and he agrees to start work on it immediately.
Charles meets with Dr. Dante and receives a prescription for his condition. Before leaving, Dante has a sudden recollection of the beautiful woman that he was with when Dante treated him at Ascot. Charles covers smoothly that he has been known to seek out the company of an attractive woman but raising the stakes considerable should Dante recognize Holly and put together her connection to Charles.

Basil meets with his partners, Oliver and Reginald, and they push him to conclude this operation that they have invested enough in this to bilk a small country! He tells him that Luke Spencer is tough, suspicious and very sharp and cannot be pushed. Basil informs them of Charles health concerns and Dante's possible threat, they point out that Dante can be taken care of. They also point out that the family's reputation will be protected as long as a scapegoat is targeted to take the blame when the money is absconded with (my money is on Holly taking the fall for this as she is the main contact). They all agree that they will not allow Luke Spencer to stand in the way of their completing this project. Dan meets with Luke and tells him that so far the family is checking out and he doesn't think that Luke has any cause for concern. Luke wants to make sure that before proceeding that Charles and Basil are who they say they are. Dante stops by their table to say hello. Dante comments to Luke how familiar Holly looks to him but hasn't yet placed her.

Holly meets with Charles and tells him that Basil made a stupid mistake and is now having them checked out by Dan Rooney and that he also plans on talking to the job foreman. Charles reminds her that the foreman is their man and she should just be happy that the equipment error was one that neither of them made as they won't have to answer to the family for that. Holly huffs that knowing Basil he will tell Oliver and Reginald that one of them made the mistake to cover himself.

Charles becomes annoyed as he feels Holly is putting her new friends above the family and reminds her that she has a loyalty to the family. The argument becomes heated and Charles grabs his head in pain. A frantic Holly calls Dr. Dante and asks him to come over to see Charles. Holly hides as Dante examines Charles and gives him a stronger prescription. Dante encourages Charles to remain calm and no stress or he will have to have surgery here in the US. After he leaves, Holly begs her father to allow her to stay there with him. He refuses and tells her he will be fine and to go back to the Star.

Holly in red dress and scarf (20's getup sorta), Luke is wearing white pin stripped as they talk on deck looks like at the end of the evening.(Scenes from an episode is missing here as Luke asks Holly what she was talking to Corso about and those scenes aren't included. Also missing is when Dan tells Luke that none of the experts he has talked to believe there could be oil in the Port Charles area and that if there is something shady going on that he believes Holly is involved. So I'm guessing that the scenes from at least one episode were not available). Luke is very moody and quiet and when Holly pushes him, that they aren't doing anything, he decides to call Van Gelder's wife again who says her husband has the flu and won't be returning home for another week! Holly then pushes to move the money from escrow into the corporate account and Luke continues to be resistant. She says then everything will be in place so they can move more quickly. He replies that will not take long once they are ready to move obviously having strong instincts about proceeding.

When she continues to push, he snaps at her and lets slip that Dan had said something to him. When she questions him, he tells her that everyone Dan checked with feel it is highly improbably and not really possible for an oil field to be found in upstate NY. Holly doesn't seem overly concerned by this as after all they have their own experts who have supported the project.  He continues that not only does Dan believe that there may not be oil in Port Charles but that this whole project may be a scam to swindle money and that Holly is very likely involved in any such scam! Holly is horrified by this suggestion and by how much it is obviously on Luke's mind. She is about to lose it and says she just has to get away from there, out of town, that she can't take this anymore. Luke softens and tries to appease her that he doesn't believe it and offers to go with her to the mountains until Van Gelder returns to town. She readily agrees.

Holly heads over to her place above Kelly's to pack for the mountains. Dan and Joe go to Joe's office behind Kelly's to talk about Dan's findings. Dan tells him that all the experts he has talked with have been very negative about the possibility of any oil anywhere near Port Charles. He tells Joe that he would like Joe to do a title search and find out who exactly owns the land and for how long? Joe indicates that a title search is very easy as that is a simple matter of public record. Dan tells Joe that he suggested to Luke that this could be a scam and that Luke wouldn't listen to Dan's suspicions as he got very defensive about Holly and felt Dan was casting aspersions. Dan assures Joe he wasn't accusing Holly of anything and that she may also be an innocent victim.

Charles shows up at Kelly's to see Holly. She warns him that he and Basil have to immediately get out of town that Dan has suggested to Luke that this might be a scam and that Holly might be involved. She tells him that her and Luke are going to the mountains for a few days and that he and Basil have to be gone by the time they return. He agrees and asks her if there is anyway to get Luke to move the money into the corporate account. She says he won't move it until he talks to Van Gelder and that once he does it is all over anyway. Charles tells her to enjoy this time with Luke and then be prepared to leave this all behind her and to meet him at the penthouse in NY. Holly sadly agrees.

Holly arrives back at The Star with her backpack ready to hit the trail. Luke has not been answering the phone and his foreman arrives covered in oil and tells him that they hit a gusher! Luke is thrilled and picks Holly up and twirls her around, Holly is not as joyous knowing it is all a lie. They immediately head off to the oil field. Back at The Star, Luke and Holly sign the escrow papers to move the funds into the corporate account and are given the checkbook for the Rainbow Oil Corporation.

All of Port Charles begin to gather on The Star for the big celebration. Luke goes to greet the guests and Holly calls her father to tell her the money is in the escrow account and that she has the checkbook. He tells her that they will go to the bank in the morning, she tells him she doesn't know if she can do it and asks if there is any other way than her being the one to write the check? He tell she no and they are in too deep and she has to stay strong and see this through. She takes out a check out of the checkbook and Luke walks in as she sits holding a check. She claims she wants it for a souvenir, the very first check. He understands and suggests she write the check for the full amount of 2.5 million dollars, make it out to cash, and sign it. She is so nervous that her hands shake while she is signing it. He takes it and tells her he will keep it in a safe place and they will have it framed (is it really a good idea to frame a check from a valid account for that kind of money, made out to cash so anyone could cash it, and then hang it on your wall?). He takes her to join their guests.

As Luke and Holly enter the room, Holly comments that Edward must be the happiest man in the world. Luke looks at her suspiciously (note that later on Luke points out that he never told her about the Quartermaine's investment with the Corsos). Dan comes in and insists on talking to Luke. He tries to blow Dan off not wanting to hear his negative thoughts this night of celebration. Their voices become raised as they argue about this. Dan insists and tells Luke that he has proof that there has been a swindle. Dan collapses, stabbed in the back, Luke reaches down and pulls the knife out. Basil calls out that Dan's been stabbed and did Luke stab him? Didn't Dan just call Luke a swindler? There are murmurs of agreement throughout the room.

Dan is unconscious in the hospital. Robert returns to the boat and a guard will not let him on the boat and tells him there was an attempted murder. Robert meets with Jackie and Joe and they fill him in. Jackie overheard them arguing about a swindle but doesn't have any more information. Joe tells Robert that Dan asked him if he knew any fingerprint experts and Joe tells Robert he gave him a referral. Because it's a holiday (Labor Day?) they can't get a hold of him. Robert heads over to GH to protect Dan. He finds no security guarding Dan and insists that Dan has immediate protection as he feels his life is in danger as Robert has no doubt that Luke did not stab Dan. Robert questions Steve on why he refused police protection for Dan? Steve says that the police are after Luke and he won't show up at GH. Robert does not believe Luke stabbed Dan and that whoever did is likely to come back to finish the job. Steve grudgingly agrees but doesn't want the hospital looking like an armed camp and agrees to plainclothes security guard.

The Suttons are eager to find Holly and be able to clear out the corporate account. Charles is very unhappy over Dan's stabbing and says that the family has never condoned violence. Ruby finds a door to a linen closet at GH with the lock jammed and gets someone to open it and change the lock. She enters and fuses at the mess in the linen closet. She sees Luke and Holly hiding and they shush her. She covers and brushes off the maintenance guy. She is called away and when she returns Luke and Holly have taken refuge in an empty patient room. They steal food from a hospital tray.

Luke questions Holly about how she knew the Quartermaine's invested with the Corsos? He declares he didn't tell her, she says he must have. She continues to play innocent though Luke obviously doesn't trust her. She says she came with him didn't she? He points out that he grabbed her and didn't give her much choice as he pulled her out of the club that night.

#17B  Charles is surprised when he arrives for a meeting to learn it is to be televised on the local news. He has no choice but to cooperate and infuriates Jackie when he makes allegations about Luke's guilt. The bank assures the viewers that the investor's money is safe and that Luke will not be allowed to touch the funds under the circumstances and only Holly will be allowed access to the account. Luke dresses in scrubs and comes across Basil being denied entrance to Dan's room.
The next morning, Luke overhears Holly but she is able to cover and claims she was calling to check on Dan's condition. She tells him that she wasn't able to get any information on his condition. Luke calls and gets an immediate update and says that is interesting that he had no problem getting an update. Holly about loses it and tells him she would rather be anywhere but hiding out at the hospital. Luke softens and they have some quiet moments until a patient coming to the room interrupts them they are hiding out in.

Holly sees her father in the hallway and he tries to get her to leave with him. He tells her that no one suspects her that they think Luke has kidnapped her. Luke sees Charles with his arm on Holly and grabs her and pulls her away with him. Basil comes running over and Luke elbows him and shoves him to the floor and they take off. Security begins searching the hospital and one of the nurses calls the police. Luke and Holly hide in the laundry bins and are taken out with the dirty sheets. The laundry truck's next stop is an amusement park. They buy hats to disguise themselves and get some food, Luke uses a southern accent and this draws the attention of a security guard who strikes up a conversation with them. He gets a call on his walkie talkie warning him of a fugitive, white male who is traveling with a woman with an English accent and he is considered armed and dangerous and wanted for attempted murder. They find a costume room and Luke downs a beard and ties back the curls and Holly puts on a wig and sunglasses.

Joe calls Robert and Robert uses one of his WSB gismos to test the line and discovers it is bugged and asks Joe to come right over. Robert suspects that all of Luke's friends will find their phones are bugged. Robert wonders if Dan had a chance to tell Luke what is going on but he suspects not as Joe informs Robert that Luke tried to see Dan in the hospital.
Luke takes a moment to call Robert using the name Lloyd Johnson though he can't say much as Robert warns him it is a party line. Fun scenes as they take time out to ride some of the rides (I'm guessing them must have shot this at Magic Mountain, a large amusement park about an hour north of the studio). Security receives a report that a wig and beard have been stolen from the costume room and they suspect perhaps it is the fugitives.

Luke and Holly take refuge in a storeroom and Luke begs her to tell him what she knows. He tells her that their only chance is to work together. She cries she isn't holding out on him! He shakes her and tells her that none of this makes any sense, obviously knowing that she is not telling him the truth. Luke realizes they need another disguise and follow a group of employees.

Basil meets with Edward who doubts the success of the oil venture. Basil quickly whips out his checkbook and writes a check for the full amount plus interest. He asks for the stock certificates back and then clarifies with Edward that he hopes there will be no hard feelings later on? Edward is curious about this and Basil points out that it happens with a man in Edward's situation that when the oil gushes that the stock will sour and there are some people who would become bitter but he is sure that with Edward's business sense that he will deal with failure with the same aplomb he deals with success. Edward looks at him intently and then rips up the check Basil has given him and says that if Basil Corso believes in this project then so does Edward Quartermaine!

Luke and Holly enter the employment office and talk a couple of young people out of applying, Luke tells them he works there and there is a waiting list of about 300 and they should try the ice cream parlor down the street. After they leave, Luke and Holly use their applications to get jobs at the amusement park.
Luke and Holly begin their training in the their new jobs on different rides. Holly takes the opportunity to call home collect to speak to her father. Basil answers the phone and tells her that her father is ill and should be in the hospital but he won't go because of Holly. Luke watches from his station as she makes the call, very suspicious about who she is calling. After her shift, she tries to leave the park but the security guard stops her and tells her she is not allowed to leave in uniform and she has to change first. Luke catches up to her and roughly grabs her by the arm and hauls her off with him and tells her she is NOT leaving!

Holly questions when Luke is going to talk to her again? In a hostile mood, he tells her he isn't going to let her out of her sight. He questions her again about where she went each time she disappeared. He asks her why she never told him that Edward had invested and she claims it slipped her mind. He reminds her about one night on the boat when she tried to say goodbye and he suspects she was trying to slip away that night. He tells her that he doesn't want anything from her except for the truth.

Burt questions the linen truck driver and asks where his next stop was after he left GH? The driver says he went to Mystery Mountain. Burt heads out of his office and says he believes that Luke and Holly are hiding out in the amusement park and he is headed up there to meet another detective. Blackie is there to meet with his probation officer and overhears this and sneaks out. The delivery driver arrives back at the office and Robert is there waiting to talk to the driver who also tells him that he went to Mystery Mountain. Blackie arrives and tells Robert that Burt is headed to Mystery Mountain. Burt meets another detective there and they begin searching. Luke and Holly spot Burt and get out of their uniforms and start running through the park. Robert has arrived and he is also looking for his friends.

Luke sees Robert and calls out to him. Burt and another officer hear this and turn, Burt pulls his gun as Luke pushes Holly towards Robert and he runs into an obstacle course with Burt headed after him. The other cop grabs Holly and Robert comes up behind him and  pulls him off of her. The cop takes off after Luke, who evades him, comes back around and grabs Holly and they take off running. When a park security guard starts to run after them, Robert picks up a garbage can and throws it at the guy knocking him to the ground.

Luke and Holly are at a bus stop and Luke becomes worried when Holly doesn't come out asks a woman if there is a window in the restroom. Holly uses the time to make a phone call to the hospital to get information on her father's condition. She holds as they try to find him, and Luke pounds on the door that they are going to miss their bus. The hospital can't find anyone under the name of Charles Corso and by the time she comes out they have missed the bus.

Luke tells Holly that he is going to call Phillip Harper, the second geologist. Holly warns him that he will know Luke is wanted and that this is dangerous. Luke decides he will call pretending to be the guy from the bank. He calls Harper and as he questions him, Harper is abrupt and pretty much refuses to answer his questions saying he can't recall as he does a lot of survey work and hangs up.

Luke is sure that Harper knows something. Harper calls Basil and tells him that Mr. Valley from the bank called and he is frightened. Basil reassures him but Harper does not want to be involved in this anymore. Robert, Joe, and Tiffany try to follow Luke's trail. Robert tells them that Burt released him from any charges for aiding and abetting. Tiffany shows up at the bus station, pretending to be a southern belle who has lost her aunt. She returns to the Star and tells Robert she has narrowed it down to one of three places. Robert suspects that Luke is holed up some place waiting for Van Gelder to return to town so he can go talk to him. At the bus station, a guy tries to hit on Holly and when he won't leave her alone, Luke punches him. He knocks Luke down and then proceeds to arrest them.
