Jonathan Returns #2 January 19 - April 6, 2010 - 8 hour original edit DVD #2A 1/19 Lucky went to Elizabeth's house to tell her about his talk with Nikolas. Elizabeth was surprised that Lucky had stopped Nikolas from leaving town when it was clear that it was what Lucky had wanted. Lucky insisted that Elizabeth was the only person who could fully appreciate how much Nikolas meant to him. Elizabeth sensed that it was important to Lucky, so she promised to support him. Elizabeth told Lucky that she loved him and then tried to kiss him. Lucky pulled away. Lucky quickly covered the revealing reaction by responding, "I can't tell you how much that means to me." Lucky gave Elizabeth a brief kiss on the lips and then left. A short time later, Nikolas arrived. Nikolas admitted that he was a bit surprised that Elizabeth had agreed to see him. Elizabeth explained that she had invited him over because she wanted Nikolas to understand that what they had done to Lucky had been wrong and unworthy of Lucky's love and commitment. Elizabeth wanted Nikolas to know that she had chosen Lucky. Nikolas offered to fly to Paris, but Elizabeth wanted Nikolas to remain in Port Charles for Lucky's sake. Nikolas confessed that he hoped that it wasn't too late to repair the damage to his relationship with Lucky. Looking for Luke, Lucky entered the Haunted Star. Ethan had no idea where Luke was; however, he was eager to track down Mike, in order to do some damage control. Ethan explained that Mike had lost a small fortune while gambling earlier in the evening. Ethan hoped to provide Mike with an opportunity to win back every cent before Sonny got wind of what had happened. Lucky didn't think that it was a good idea to allow a gambling addict to win. Ethan was more concerned about his kneecaps than Mike's addiction. Lucky offered to close up the casino for Ethan. After Ethan left, Lucky walked over to the bar and then pulled down a bottle of whiskey. Lucky stared at the bottle for several heartbeats before he poured himself a drink. Moments later, Lucky began drinking. 1/21 Lucky went to Jason's penthouse to let Jason know that he had decided to remove himself from the investigation into Claudia's death. Lucky explained that it was a conflict of interest; however, he wanted Jason to be aware of a witness who might have damaging information about Claudia's murder. Jason was shocked when Lucky confided that Maxie had been parked in front of Kate's mansion on the night that Claudia had disappeared. Lucky claimed that he trusted Jason. Jason sensed that something was troubling Lucky, but Lucky tried to brush it off. Lucky admitted that he had been hard on Jason for choosing to save Sam. Lucky rambled on about seeing things from a different perspective and then admitted that he regretted that Jake and Jason had been collateral damage because of Elizabeth's lies and secrets. Jason clarified that Elizabeth had always loved Lucky. Lucky's eyes filled with unshed tears as he stared at Jason. Ethan called Lulu. Lulu was stunned when Ethan revealed that Lucky had been drinking on the Haunted Star the previous two evenings. Lulu suggested that perhaps the empty scotch bottles had belonged to Luke, but Ethan slowly shook his head. Lulu finally accepted the truth; she thanked Ethan for telling her about Lucky's drinking. Ethan didn't know much about Lucky's addiction, but he had recognized that Lucky had been committed to his sobriety. Ethan realized that it was important for Lucky's loved ones to be aware of what was going on. Lulu was waiting when Lucky entered he the Haunted Star. Lulu didn't waste time confronting Lucky about his drinking. To her surprise, Lucky readily admitted that he had consumed alcohol. Lucky didn't understand why she was upset since he wasn't using pills, stealing, or trying to cover up what he was doing. Lulu offered to call Lucky's sponsor, but Lucky balked at the idea. Lucky insisted that he was fine. Lulu didn't understand why Lucky was willing to risk everything when he was about to marry Elizabeth. Lucky argued that he wasn't the one who was throwing everything away. Lulu tried to stop Lucky when he reached for a bottle. Lucky made it clear that he would find a way to drink, regardless what Lulu did. As soon as Lulu released the bottle, Lucky poured himself a drink and then took a deep swallow. Lucky's determination to drown his sorrows hurt Lulu. She accused him of being just like their father. After Lulu left the casino, Lucky sat down at one of the tables and continued drinking. Luke returned to the Haunted Star to find Lucky knocking back a bottle of scotch. Lucky welcomed his father home and then invited Luke to join him for a drink. Luke wondered if Lucky was celebrating. Lucky revealed that he had been looking at a paper for "Lot #17," which was the piece of property where Lucky and Elizabeth had hoped to build their dream home. Before Luke could respond, Lucky announced, "I finally get it. I'm just like you." Luke didn't appear pleased by the prospect. At the hospital, Elizabeth and Nikolas found themselves in an elevator together. Nikolas explained that he was on his way to a board meeting. Elizabeth assured Nikolas that he didn't have to explain anything to her; she fully expected to bump into Nikolas occasionally. Nikolas confessed that he didn't want to add to Elizabeth and Lucky's troubles. He offered to resign from the board if Elizabeth thought that it would help. Elizabeth didn't want Nikolas to step down from his position on the board. She was confident that, in time, they would all heal and then resume being friends. Nikolas admitted that it was nice to spend time with her without constant tension and having to worry about "what ifs." Later, Nikolas arrived at Elizabeth's house moments before Lulu walked in. Lulu explained that she had asked to see Nikolas and Elizabeth because she wanted them to know that Lucky had started drinking. 1/22 On the Haunted Star, Lucky confessed that he could only imagine how difficult it must have been for Luke not to say anything about Nikolas and Elizabeth over the Christmas holiday. Luke gathered that Lucky knew about Nikolas and Elizabeth's affair. Lucky confirmed that he was aware that Nikolas and Elizabeth had slept together. Lucky felt foolish because he had not seen the signs. Luke acknowledged that love could be blind. Luke regretted that he had not told Lucky about the affair. Lucky didn't think that he would have believed Luke. Lucky was curious how long Luke had known about Nikolas and Elizabeth. Luke admitted that it had been a while; he had caught Nikolas and Elizabeth kissing on the docks one evening. Luke explained that he had confronted Nikolas about what he had seen. Afterwards, Luke had talked to Elizabeth. Lucky wasn't surprised to learn that Elizabeth had persuaded Luke to keep her secret. Luke was curious how Lucky had found out about the affair. Lucky confided that Luke was the first to know; Lucky had walked in on Nikolas and Elizabeth having sex. Lucky reflected on all of the warning signs that he had ignored. Luke wondered what Lucky intended to do about the affair. Lucky replied, "Drink." Lucky took the opportunity to apologize to Luke. Lucky realized that he had been hard on Luke when his father had tried to caution Lucky not to rush into marriage. Lucky admitted that Luke had been right; love was a lie. Luke corrected Lucky. According to Luke, love was flawed and, contrary to popular belief, did not heal all wounds. Lucky admitted that he had no idea what Elizabeth wanted or needed, but he was certain that it wasn't him. Luke understood that Lucky had put his heart and soul on the line for Elizabeth. Luke admired Lucky for that. In Luke's eyes, Lucky was fearless. "Well, we're about to find out, " Lucky replied as he snatched up his coat. Luke was surprised that Lucky was leaving. Lucky explained that he had somewhere to be. Tracy entered the casino shortly after Lucky left. Luke explained that Lucky had been drinking. Tracy was sad to hear that Lucky had suffered a broken heart. At Elizabeth's house, Elizabeth asked if Lulu was certain that Lucky had been drinking. Lulu confirmed that she had seen Lucky drink a scotch. Elizabeth and Nikolas were crushed to realize that Lucky had turned to alcohol. Lulu blamed Lucky's relapse on Nikolas' declaration of love for Elizabeth. Elizabeth made it clear that it had been Lucky's choice to take a drink. Lulu demanded to know if that absolved Elizabeth and Nikolas of wrongdoing. Elizabeth quickly assured Lulu that it didn't. Elizabeth recalled that the last time that Lucky had battled addiction, all efforts to protect Lucky had only made matters worse. Elizabeth explained that all they could do for Lucky was to let Lucky know that they loved him and that they would support him as he worked to get clean again. Lulu hoped that it would be enough. Elizabeth and Nikolas discussed what they could do to help Lucky. Elizabeth decided she would start by calling Lucky's sponsor. Moments later, Lucky entered the house. "Well, isn't this perfect," Lucky commented as he slowly approached them. Nikolas explained that he was just about to leave, but Lucky assured his brother that it wasn't necessary. Elizabeth revealed that Lulu had told them that Lucky had been drinking. Elizabeth urged Lucky to go to a meeting, but Lucky ignored her pleas. Lucky announced that, thanks to Elizabeth, he finally saw the truth. Lucky realized that Elizabeth didn't love him, "otherwise you wouldn't be screwing my brother behind my back," he explained. 1/25 A drunken Lucky confronted Elizabeth and Nikolas at her home. At first Elizabeth tried to lie, but Lucky described walking in on them while they were making love. Elizabeth apologized and said that it was over. When Lucky called her a faithless cheating tramp, Nikolas tried to intervene and take responsibility. When he asked Lucky to take his anger out on him instead, Lucky told Nikolas that he would love to. Lucky told Nikolas that his betrayal was even more difficult to stomach than Elizabeth's. He gave Nikolas the ultimate insult when he called him a "Cassadine." Carly stopped by to invite them to Joslyn's christening, which interrupted Lucky's tirade. Elizabeth begged Lucky not to tell Carly, but he could not resist. Lucky told Carly that he would be there, but that Elizabeth and Nikolas would be too busy "rutting like farm animals" to attend. After Carly's hasty departure, Elizabeth asked Lucky to keep quiet for the sake of the boys. Lucky called Elizabeth a bitch and told not to use the boys to manipulate him. He told her that she could "whore" herself out all she wanted. Lucky said that Elizabeth was a cheater and a liar and that she would get what she deserved, which might include two boys who could not stand the sight of her. He said if that happened she would only have herself to blame. A tearful Lucky wanted to know what had happened to the girl he had fallen in love with all those years before. As he slammed out, he said he would always love that girl. Nikolas tried to comfort Elizabeth, but she was devastated by Lucky's harsh tirade and ordered Nikolas to leave her alone. After a weak protest, Nikolas did as he was asked. Once he was gone, Elizabeth trashed the coffee table then collapsed in tears on the couch. Luke was waiting at the Haunted Star when Lucky dropped in for a drink. He told Luke that he had confronted Elizabeth and Nikolas. He asked Luke about the nature of love and if it could really happen with a glance. He told Luke that he had felt that way about Elizabeth and that his heart ached because he loved her so much. Lucky said that, at the time, it had been a good ache, but that the good had flown and all that was left was the ache. He said that he did not feel sad or angry after confronting Elizabeth and Nikolas. He said that he did not feel anything. Luke told him that it was probably a blessing that he felt that way. Luke told Lucky that he hoped that Lucky stayed numb long enough to get some rest. Luke said that when reality set in, it was going to have the force of an emotional tsunami. Luke told Lucky that people expected too much from love. He said that nobody could fix your life no matter how much he or she loved you. Luke said that he had faith in Lucky and that when Lucky got his balance back, he would be able to face the devastating betrayal by Elizabeth and Nikolas. Lucky told Luke that it was better to live in the moment so there was nothing to lose. As Lucky reached for the bottle to pour another drink, Luke took it away and said gently, "Careful son, a man with nothing to lose has nothing to live for." As the song, "Stranger in my Skin" by Christine Dente played in the background, Elizabeth sat hunched in a ball on her stairs, and was crying and asking why she had trashed her life. Lulu ran into Nikolas on the docks. When she tried to enlist him in an intervention with Lucky, he told her that Lucky had found out about his affair with Elizabeth. Lulu was outraged. She called Nikolas a selfish pig and asked him how he could do that to his brother. 1/26 On the pier, Lulu blasted Nikolas for hurting Lucky. As Lulu yelled at Nikolas, it was clear that her anger was primarily focused on Elizabeth, whom Lulu referred to as a "two-timing slut." Nikolas realized that his affair with Elizabeth had been wrong. He admitted that he was deeply sorry for hurting everyone. "Sorry is not good enough," Lulu declared. Lulu demanded to know why Nikolas had not rejected Elizabeth's advances. Nikolas claimed that he had been the "instigator." Lulu warned Nikolas not to defend "that tramp." Nikolas understood Lulu's anger, but he was adamant that Elizabeth wasn't to blame. Lulu wanted to know where Nikolas and Elizabeth had sex the first time. Nikolas reluctantly answered, "Wyndemere." Lulu accused Elizabeth of "trotting over to Wyndemere" just as Elizabeth had "climbed 15 flights of stairs to seduce Jason." Nikolas wondered why Lulu was so angry with Elizabeth, but not him. Lulu claimed that Nikolas was "dark and moody," while Elizabeth presented herself as a shining example of how to live by a moral code. Lulu hated that Elizabeth pretended to be a dedicated mother and nurse when in truth, Elizabeth was only dedicated to "playing mattress tag" with Nikolas. Nikolas informed Lulu that she had no idea what she was talking about. Nikolas clarified that he and Elizabeth hadn't just tumbled into bed; they had struggled to do the right thing. Disgusted, Lulu walked away. Lulu approached the nurses' station a short time later, looking for her cell phone. Lulu's eyes narrowed when she noticed Elizabeth, cradling an injured hand, enter the ER. Lulu loudly accused Elizabeth of being a "lying faithless slut" for sleeping with Lucky and Nikolas. Ethan wondered if Lulu's accusation was true. Lulu ordered Elizabeth to admit to Ethan what a "two-faced lying tramp" Elizabeth was. Ethan quickly concluded that Rebecca had left town because of the affair. Robin gasped in shock as Lulu proceeded to publicly berate Elizabeth. Everyone grew increasingly uncomfortable as Lulu viciously railed at Elizabeth. Elizabeth silently accepted the verbal assault. Eventually, Ethan put an end to Lulu's tirade by informing Lulu, "Enough." Lulu flung a few more insults at Elizabeth and then marched out of the hospital. After the cut on Elizabeth's hand had been treated, Ethan approached Elizabeth. Elizabeth was surprised that Ethan dared to be seen talking to her. Ethan assured Elizabeth that he wasn't in any position to judge. Elizabeth thought that Ethan was being more generous than she deserved. Ethan realized that Elizabeth's injury might make it difficult for her to operate her car, so he offered to drive her car to her place. Ethan explained that it was a shorter distance to walk home from her house than it was from the hospital. 1/28 Luke found Lucky target shooting in the woods. Luke was impressed with Lucky's accuracy, but he was curious whom Lucky was aiming at. Luke understood that Lucky had been burned badly, but he wanted Lucky to promise one thing. Luke asked that Lucky seek him out if Lucky decided that someone needed to die for the betrayal. Luke had lived a full life, so he didn't mind killing Elizabeth or Nikolas to save Lucky from the regret of succumbing to a deadly impulse. Lucky assured his father that he didn't have any intention of killing Elizabeth or Nikolas. Lucky realized how difficult it must have been for Luke to shield his young son from the ugly truths about life. Lucky confessed that he had always believed that love could last and that people lived happily ever after. Luke didn't want Lucky to blame Laura for passing her romantic views about life on to her son. Luke acknowledged that they had been a happy family for many years. Luke believed that Lucky should be thankful that Laura had instilled the power of hope in Lucky. According to Luke, it was why Lucky was such an extraordinary man. Elizabeth arrived at the hospital prepared to work. As she stepped off of the elevator, everything suddenly appeared to move in slow motion. Elizabeth sensed that everyone was staring at her. She tried to focus on her work, but it didn't help. Elizabeth became more distressed when the words on her chart began to blur. Monica and Epiphany watched Elizabeth with mounting concern. Monica gently asked if Elizabeth was okay. Elizabeth insisted that she was fine. Elizabeth wasn't okay. She continued to sense that everyone was staring at her and then she began to hear whispered accusations of slut, whore, and other vicious names. Elizabeth was overwhelmed by the scorn that she felt directed at her. She yelled out "Stop! Just everyone stop whispering, okay? Yes, I had an affair with Nikolas Cassadine." Everyone froze in place as Elizabeth reached her breaking point. Nikolas stood nearby, equally stunned by Elizabeth's outburst. Elizabeth welled up with tears as she admitted that she had betrayed her fiancé. She acknowledged that she was all of the horrible names that they were calling her. Nikolas immediately intervened. He urged her to step away from the nurses' station. Elizabeth pulled away from Nikolas and then ran off. Nikolas followed Elizabeth. "Leave me alone. I'm fine," Elizabeth insisted as Nikolas approached her. Nikolas pointed out that Elizabeth was obviously hurt because she had just broadcasted her private life to everyone at the hospital. Elizabeth believed that she deserved all of the pain that she felt. Nikolas suggested that Elizabeth take some time off to process everything that had happened. Elizabeth reminded Nikolas that she had a job and two children to take care of. She insisted that she needed to face what she had done and then learn to live with the knowledge that she had betrayed Lucky and herself. Ethan bumped into Lucky on the pier. Ethan wanted Lucky to know that Ethan was available if Lucky ever needed to talk, have someone pour a drink, or chauffer Lucky around town. Ethan didn't want Lucky to risk drinking and driving. Lucky appreciated Ethan's support, but he was surprised after the way that Lucky had treated Ethan when it was revealed that Ethan was Luke's son. Ethan pointed out that no one was perfect. Both men turned when they heard someone approach. It was Elizabeth. She was surprised to see Lucky. As the silence stretched, Elizabeth cleared her throat. She admitted that she had thought about calling Lucky; however, since he was there, she suggested that they talk. Lucky looked at Elizabeth with loathing as he coldly informed her that he never wanted to see or speak to her again. As Lucky stormed off, Elizabeth's eyes filled with tears. She softly explained to Ethan that she had wanted to talk to Lucky about the children. The boys had been asking to see their father, but she had no idea what to tell them. 1/29 At Kelly's, Lulu begged Lucky to attend Josslyn's christening with her. Lucky wasn't interested, but Lulu persisted. Lucky wondered why it was so important to Lulu. Lulu confessed that she had a bad feeling that something might happen. Lucky understood Lulu's apprehension. He pointed out that, in Port Charles, large get-togethers seldom ended well; the odds of that increased "spectacularly" with the people who were attending the christening. Lulu insisted that she needed her brother to be her backup. On the Haunted Star, Luke invited Elizabeth to speak her mind, since it was clear that she had stopped by to talk. Elizabeth kept it simple; she apologized for lying to Luke. Luke immediately accepted the apology. Elizabeth was surprised. "Did you think I'd throw it back in your face," Luke wondered. Elizabeth confessed, "Yes." Luke observed that Elizabeth appeared to be doing a good enough job of punishing herself. He admitted that Elizabeth wasn't his favorite person at the moment, but he conceded that people made mistakes. Elizabeth's mistake didn't negate all of the good that she had done for Lucky over the years. Elizabeth thanked Luke for his generosity. "What are you doing talking to that lying piece of trash," Lulu angrily demanded as she stood in the doorway. "You've already made it very clear what you think of me. I'm not going to subject your dad to the inevitable encore, " Elizabeth quietly told Lulu. Elizabeth then turned to thank Luke for his compassion; she felt undeserving of it. As Elizabeth passed Lulu, Lulu couldn't resist snarling, "You've got that right." Lulu wanted to know why Luke was being nice to "that skank." Luke reminded Lulu that it hadn't been a solo act. He wondered where Lulu's righteous indignation for Nikolas was. Lulu acknowledged that she was mad at Nikolas, but she insisted that it had been Elizabeth's fault. Luke warned Lulu that being mad didn't do any good. It was a bad and ugly situation; however, it was for Lucky and Elizabeth to sort out. Luke didn't think that throwing their hostility and judgment around helped. "Besides," Luke warned, "judgment had a nasty habit of boomeranging." Luke cautioned Lulu that sooner or later, it would return to smack Lulu right in the face. Lucky was the first guest to arrive at the church for Josslyn's christening. He sat down in one of the pews and then began to talk to God. Lucky wondered what he had done to deserve the pain that he was enduring. Lucky found it hard to believe that God loved him. Lucky didn't understand God's plan or lesson, so he demanded a sign. "Is that how it works," Jason asked. Lucky assumed that Jason had heard about Lucky and Elizabeth's split. Jason nodded. Lucky wished that he could assure Jason that Jake would be okay, but Lucky had no idea what the future held. Lucky didn't see how Cameron and Jake could avoid being hurt by the breakup. Lucky feared that it would get much worse before it got better. Lucky realized that it was not fair to Jason or Jake. Lucky felt as if he had dishonored the promise that he made to Jason. As the guests began to trickle in, Lulu was delighted when she found Lucky standing in the church. Ethan entered moments later and then promptly joined his siblings. Lulu was concerned because Dominic hadn't arrived. 2/1 Lulu held Josslyn in her arms as Father Coates began the christening. Jax and Carly hovered nearby, beaming with pride as their daughter was christened Josslyn John Jacks. Everyone clapped when the ceremony concluded. Across town, at Greystone Manor, "Goodbye Detective, " Sonny said just before he fired a single shot at Dominic's heart. Dominic collapsed to the floor just as Olivia threw open the door. "Dante," she screamed as she ran to her son. Olivia looked up with grief-stricken eyes. "My God, Sonny. You just shot your own son!" Sonny stared down at Olivia and Dante with a mix of confusion and growing horror. Olivia yelled at Sonny to call 911. Sonny stood rooted to the spot, "What do you mean, he's your son, Olivia?" Olivia had tears streaming down her face as she told Sonny, "His name is Dante and he's your son too." Olivia turned back to Dante to beg her son to breathe. Olivia promised Dante that she was with her son. Sonny raced to call 911. As soon as Sonny disconnected the call, Olivia sent Sonny to the kitchen for towels. Father Coates announced that everyone was invited to the Jacks residence for a reception. The guests mingled a bit before they headed to Jax and Carly's home. At the Jacks residence, Carly greeted Luke and his brood. Carly announced that she had sparkling cider for Lucky and then proceeded to complain about Elizabeth. Luke pointed out that Carly was hardly in a position to judge. Carly had her own fair share of failed marriages and relationships, which had Carly's "tire tracks across their backs." Lulu observed that the difference was that Carly had never claimed to be anyone's angel, while Elizabeth had. Luke smiled indulgently and then turned away. Carly gave a speech thanking her guests for celebrating Josslyn's special day with them. Carly then thanked Jax for being a wonderful husband. Everyone 2/4 Mac entered Jake's to find Lucky shooting pool and drinking beer. Mac admitted that he had heard about Elizabeth and Nikolas' affair. Mac was concerned that Lucky was drinking alcohol. Lucky clarified that he was off-duty. Mac pointed out that Lucky was a recovering addict. Lucky insisted that he was fine. Mac considered Lucky to be one of the department's finest detectives, so Mac didn't want to see Lucky backslide into addiction. Lucky resented Mac's interference, but Mac didn't let up. Mac understood what it was like to be hurt by love; Mac had lost Felicia to Luke. Mac advised Lucky to step up, be a man, take care of himself as well as his addiction, and to be there for the people who depended on Lucky. Lucky pointed out that it wasn't as if he were popping pills. Lucky claimed that he had merely been trying to take the edge off. Mac suggested that work could also be effective. Lucky's demeanor immediately changed when he realized that Mac had a job for him. Mac wanted Lucky to question Dante about the shooting at Greystone Manor. At the hospital, Lucky entered Dante’s room. Lucky explained that he needed Dante's statement about the shooting. 2/5 Lucky took out his tape recorder to get Dante's official statement. He was shocked when Dante said that he had gone to arrest Sonny, but Sonny had not been there. Dante said that he was unloading the gun in Sonny's desk drawer to prevent Sonny from using it when he did arrive. Dante said that the gun jammed and then accidentally discharged and he was shot. He said Sonny walked in moments after the shot was fired. Lucky tried to get Dante to recant, but Dante held firm. Lucky said he understood about fathers and sons, and he hoped that committing perjury for Sonny was more important to Dante than keeping his badge. Lucky left to call Mac. Outside, at the nurses' station, Epiphany and Elizabeth were helping a mother and child, who had a mild injury. When the mother started berating herself for not paying attention to her son because she had been talking to her boyfriend, Elizabeth flew into a rage and castigated the woman for her behavior. Epiphany tried to stop Elizabeth's tirade, but was unsuccessful. Nikolas happened upon the scene after exiting a board meeting and drew Elizabeth aside. He told her that she was under stress and needed to take some time off to process. Elizabeth continued to raise her voice to Nikolas, who finally told her that she was on administrative leave until she could calm down. Lucky met Nikolas at Jake's. Lucky was sarcastic, but listened when Nikolas told him that Elizabeth was losing it. Nikolas told Lucky that he had witnessed two meltdowns. Nikolas said that Lucky should be concerned because of his children. Nikolas said that Elizabeth did not want his help and that Lucky was the only one who could help her. Nikolas said that he should shoulder all the blame for his affair with Elizabeth. Nikolas told Lucky that he had been selfish and insistent, and had given Elizabeth no choice. Lucky was alone at Jake's, drinking shots, when Elizabeth walked in. They made eye contact across the room. 2/8 Lucky was drinking steadily at Jake's when Elizabeth walked in. She approached him and tried to talk to him. Lucky was very sarcastic with her. He accused Elizabeth of using him as a babysitter so she could tryst with Nikolas. Snidely, Lucky asked her if she had used protection with Nikolas. Despite Lucky's attempts to humiliate her, Elizabeth persisted in her attempts to reconcile. She expressed her regrets as well as her deep-felt love for Lucky. She told him that Luke had forgiven her and had told her that the bad that happened should not erase all the good. She asked Lucky if there was any chance that they could fix their problems. Lucky scoffed and said they had already tried couple's counseling. Lucky said that he was not feeling the love and that he did not have any faith in their relationship. He advised Elizabeth to find out who she was and what she wanted, but to do it without him. When Elizabeth mentioned the boys, Lucky was angry and told her not to use the boys to manipulate him , but Elizabeth was genuine when she said that the boys were asking for him and she did not know what to say. Lucky told Elizabeth to tell the boys that he loved them and would see them soon. When Elizabeth wanted to know if he would call to arrange a time, he told her that his lawyer would make arrangements. Lucky told Elizabeth that the less they saw of each other, the better, because he could barely stand to look at her. Elizabeth was crushed as she turned and left Jake's. Lucky continued to drink at Jake's. When Coleman tried to cut him off, Lucky threatened to shut him down. Lucky insisted that Coleman tell him about the times that Nikolas had been in the bar with Elizabeth. Coleman refused to gossip, but he did tell Lucky that they had never used one of the upstairs rooms. Coleman told Lucky that if a person picked at a sore long enough, it would fester and get ugly. Lucky told him it was already ugly. Coleman said that eventually booze would no longer numb the pain. He said when that happened, people got stupid and thought that they had nothing to lose. As he pushed another shot across the bar to Lucky, Coleman told him not to let it become a self-fulfilling prophecy. Johnny went to Jake's and got tanked. When he noticed Lucky, he started making cracks and taunting Lucky about the mob kingpin who had once again slipped through police fingers. He offered to bet $1,000 that his sister's murder would go unsolved and unpunished. Lucky did not respond or show any emotion until Johnny said that the police were either paid off or brain-damaged. Lucky moved quickly and put a gun to Johnny's head. Elizabeth prepared the boys for an overnight at Gram's house. When Cameron asked about Lucky, she told him that she had ruined everything and that Lucky was very mad at her and did not want to see her. She assured him that Lucky still loved him and wanted to see him, but without Elizabeth. 2/9 At Jake's, the argument between Lucky and Johnny escalated when Lucky pulled out a gun. Everyone froze until Lucky slowly lowered the gun. Lucky immediately apologized to Johnny. Johnny resumed his seat while Coleman offered everyone a round of drinks on the house. Ethan entered Jake's in time to hear Coleman's announcement. Lucky appeared shaken as he staggered to the bar. Ethan was shocked when Lucky confessed to nearly shooting Johnny. Johnny suggested that Lucky shouldn't worry about it. Johnny was certain that Jason would soon hunt Johnny down. Lucky wandered to a table, and demanded something stronger than a beer to drink. Ethan followed his brother to suggest that perhaps drinking wasn't the solution. Lucky glared at his brother. Ethan worried that Lucky was about to cross a line that Lucky couldn't turn back from. Ethan advised Lucky to pull himself together before it was too late. Lucky appeared shell-shocked as he confessed that he finally realized how someone could snap. Lucky never thought he'd be the guy who could lose all restraint. Lucky no longer recognized himself. Elizabeth went to the Haunted Star to beg Luke to talk to Lucky on her behalf. Elizabeth insisted that she loved Lucky and needed him in her life. She wanted Luke to help her make things right for Lucky. Luke was sympathetic; he realized that Elizabeth was hurting. However, Luke believed that Elizabeth needed to accept that her relationship with Lucky was over. Elizabeth's eyes filled with tears as she frantically pleaded with Luke to reconsider. Elizabeth was adamant that her affair with Nikolas was over. Luke explained that he couldn't tell Lucky what to do. Elizabeth promised that she could make things right. Luke wasn't persuaded. Elizabeth seemed to grow more desperate. She implored Luke to at least try to talk to Lucky. Moments later, Lucky appeared in the doorway; he demanded to know what Elizabeth was doing in his father's office. Lucky refused to make eye contact as Elizabeth approached him. She tearfully requested that Lucky hear her out. As she spoke, Elizabeth grabbed Lucky's arm. Lucky demanded that Elizabeth not touch him. Lucky then ordered Elizabeth to leave. Elizabeth's anguish turned to anger when Lucky turned his back on her. Elizabeth demanded that Lucky not shut her out. Eventually, Luke was forced to step in. He gently, but firmly, took Elizabeth by the arm and then escorted her out of the office. Luke returned moments later to announce that he was happy that Lucky had stopped by. Luke revealed that he had a job in Prague that he hoped Lucky would be interested in. Luke explained that it was an art heist. Luke quickly filled Lucky in on the details as he handed Lucky a passport. Lucky admitted that he was tempted to join his father; however, Lucky couldn't leave town. Lucky revealed that he had pulled a gun on Johnny Zacchara. The incident had rattled Lucky. Lucky had seen firsthand how quickly things could have gone wrong. Lucky confided that the same rage had filled him when Elizabeth had grabbed him. Lucky was curious why Elizabeth had been in Luke's office. Luke admitted that Elizabeth had asked Luke to put in a good word for her. Lucky confided that he had seen red when he had spotted Elizabeth standing in the office. Lucky hadn't trusted himself. Luke was confident that Lucky would never have harmed Elizabeth. Luke pointed out that, despite the rage, Lucky had stopped himself from pulling the trigger. Luke had complete faith that Lucky would emerge from the difficult days ahead a stronger person. Lucky appreciated Luke's support. Elizabeth remained despondent when she arrived home. She ran to her bedroom and then returned to the bottom step of the staircase. As she sat down, Elizabeth slid on her engagement ring and then wept inconsolably. This episode featured the song, "Stranger in My Skin," by Christine Dente. 2/10 Elizabeth went to the Haunted Star to talk to Luke. She decided to leave Luke a note when she discovered that he wasn't in his office. As Elizabeth reached for a pen, a flyer caught her attention. The flyer advertised a Valentine's Day celebration on the Haunted Star. Elizabeth was assailed by memories of her rape, years earlier. Ethan entered the office moments later. He called out to Elizabeth several times before she responded. Ethan noticed how shaken Elizabeth appeared. He asked her if she was okay, but Elizabeth ignored the question. Elizabeth wondered if Ethan knew where she could find Luke. Ethan admitted that he had no idea where his father was. Elizabeth explained that she had stopped by to apologize to Luke. Elizabeth realized that she shouldn't have expected Luke to help clean up her mess with Lucky. Ethan wondered if Elizabeth had anything against Valentine's Day. Elizabeth looked down to see that she had crinkled the flyer in her tightly clutched fist. Elizabeth was once again assailed by memories of her rape, but she quickly collected herself to explain that she was simply trying to figure out how to get through the day without Lucky. Elizabeth realized that her affair with Nikolas had ruined her future with Lucky as well as her past. Sam was sitting at the counter in Kelly's when Elizabeth entered the diner. As the waitress fetched Elizabeth's pick-up order, Elizabeth admitted to feeling awkward standing next to Sam. Elizabeth was surprised when Sam insisted that she wasn't in any position to judge Elizabeth; she could see how much Elizabeth was hurting. Elizabeth thanked Sam for her understanding. Elizabeth imagined that Sam could empathize with Elizabeth's situation. Elizabeth pointed out that Sam had slept with Ric, Sam's stepfather. According to Elizabeth, it wasn't much different than Elizabeth's affair with Lucky's brother. Sam seemed annoyed at the reminder. Elizabeth quickly explained that she hadn't brought it up to hurt Sam. Elizabeth confessed that she was in awe of Sam because Sam had managed to find a way to get Jason to forgive Sam for what she had done. Elizabeth wanted to know how Sam had done it. Sam acknowledged that she had made mistakes, but she didn't think it was the right time or place for them to discuss it. Elizabeth recalled how Sam had stood by while Jake had been kidnapped and then later when Sam had hired goons to terrorize Elizabeth and the children in the park. Elizabeth was desperate to know how Sam had found a way to be forgiven for the unforgivable. Sam realized that Elizabeth was frantically searching for an answer. Sam explained that one day she decided that she no longer wanted to live with the anger, resentment, and guilt. Sam had started taking care of herself and making amends with the people that she had hurt. Eventually, Sam had learned to respect herself. It had taken time. Sam didn't think that things would have worked out with Jason if Sam hadn't gone through her journey of self-discovery. "How nice for you," Elizabeth responded and then walked out. Robin approached the nurses' station in time to hear Lisa's remark. "Take pity on who? What situation," she asked Patrick and Lisa. Lisa quickly explained that Patrick had been yelling at the lab techs; she suggested that the task of "soothing the savage surgeon's ego" fell on Robin. All heads turned when Elizabeth exited the elevator. Elizabeth was eager to return to work. Patrick and Robin were sympathetic, but they agreed that she needed some time to pull herself together. They suggested that Elizabeth take a vacation. Elizabeth pointed out that she couldn't afford to take a vacation since she had been suspended without pay. Patrick and Robin offered to loan Elizabeth some money, but Elizabeth turned them down. Elizabeth had hoped that Patrick and Robin could talk to the board on her behalf. Elizabeth was hurt when Patrick and Robin refused. Robin started to follow Elizabeth as she walked away, but Patrick stopped Robin. Patrick thought that Elizabeth needed to work things out for herself. Robin disagreed; Robin had needed Patrick's help when Robin had been suffering from postpartum depression. Later, Patrick asked Lisa to cover for him and Robin. Lisa agreed. Patrick thanked Lisa and then dragged Robin off to the supply closet. At Kelly's, Elizabeth froze when she spotted two men sitting at the counter. Elizabeth became distraught as she imagined them turning to look at her while whispering, "whore" and "slut," and suggesting that she was easy. Upset, Elizabeth turned and then ran out of the diner just as Jason arrived. Jason reached out for Elizabeth when he noticed how agitated she was. Concerned, Jason asked if she was okay. Elizabeth cried, "Okay with what? You sleeping with me? Is that why you're here? You want to talk about it?" Jason pulled Elizabeth into his arms and then gently soothed her while she cried. 2/11 Outside of Kelly's, Jason gently soothed Elizabeth as she cried in his arms. Elizabeth didn't know what was wrong with her, but she insisted that she was a bad person. Jason assured Elizabeth that there was nothing wrong with her. Jason believed that Elizabeth was just going through a "tough time." As Jason rocked Elizabeth in his arms, Lucky walked up. Lucky took one look at the ex-lovers and then snidely observed, "Gotta love the timing." Jason slowly lowered his arms as Elizabeth took a step back. Meanwhile, Lucky accused Elizabeth of being "quite the rebound girl." Lucky couldn't believe that it had taken Elizabeth less than two weeks to run to Jason, a man who was supposed to be too dangerous. Lucky cruelly suggested that Cam and Jake's safety had been thrown to the wayside for Elizabeth's "incessant need to play the victim." Jason warned Lucky that he had gone too far. Lucky ignored Jason to continue throwing harsh accusations at Elizabeth. Finally Jason ordered Lucky to stop. Elizabeth stepped forward; she knew that she had hurt Lucky, but she hadn't realized just how much until that moment. Elizabeth had seen Lucky devastated and angry before, but she had never known him to be so cruel. Elizabeth thanked Jason for trying to help her and then walked away. Jason agreed with Elizabeth; the Lucky that Jason had known was slowly disappearing before Jason's eyes. Lucky had always been someone who had treated women with respect, not someone who bullied them. "The guy who yelled at and humiliated Elizabeth is not Lucky," Jason insisted. "I don't see anyone else here, " Lucky sarcastically responded. Lucky found it ironic that a professional killer who had sneaked around with another man's wife and had lied about a child would try to lecture Lucky. Jason accepted that he had made certain choices about his job. Jason had compromised a piece of himself every day that he had lied about Jake. Jason implored Lucky not to make the same mistake. Lucky suggested that Jason had been better off following the car accident. Back then Jason had been given a "clean slate" and he hadn't felt any emotion. Lucky would give anything not to feel. Elizabeth arrived home with the boys in tow. As they shed their coats, the doorbell rang. Cam raced to the door, hoping that it was his "Daddy." It was Helena. Elizabeth quickly gathered her children close as Helena casually entered her home. Elizabeth whisked the children to their bedroom and then returned to the living room. Elizabeth threatened to call the police if Helena didn't leave. "No need for histrionics," Helena assured Elizabeth. Helena explained that she had stopped by to thank Elizabeth and to give her a token of appreciation. Helena gently set a gold box that on the side table, which unsettled Elizabeth. Elizabeth yelled at Helena to get out. Ethan ran into the house when he heard Elizabeth cry out. Ethan insisted that Helena leave. Helena reminded Elizabeth that the Cassadines owned a pharmaceutical company. Helena offered to supply Elizabeth with a lifetime supply of antidepressants at a discounted rate, if Elizabeth decided to "go that route." Ethan practically shoved Helena out the door. Elizabeth appeared shaken as she sat down on the sofa. Helena returned to Wyndemere for high tea. Helena claimed that she was quite fond of Spencer, but his bloodline had been "compromised." "Excuse me," Nikolas demanded. Helena accused Spencer's mother, Courtney, of being a stripper, and Spencer's uncle, Sonny, of being a "thug." Helena suggested that it was time that Nikolas considered conceiving a true Cassadine heir. Lucky was drinking at Jake's when Ethan entered. Ethan promised that he wasn't stalking his brother. Ethan had merely stopped by for a drink; however, since Lucky was there, Ethan felt compelled to tell Lucky about two unsettling encounters with Elizabeth. Ethan was certain that Elizabeth was having some type of "conniption." Lucky made it clear that he wasn't interested in hearing about Elizabeth's problems. Lucky didn't wish Elizabeth ill, but she had made her own choices. Lucky didn't give a "damn" about Elizabeth's suffering. At Elizabeth's house, the front door stood wide open. The darkened house stood eerily still as snow drifted in. 2/12 At Jake's, Lucky lamented about how love shriveled and died. Ethan was curious how much Lucky had to drink. Lucky admitted that it hadn't been enough to keep Lucky from wondering if things could have been different. Lucky opened up about the time that Helena had drugged Lucky, spirited him out of his apartment, planted a body in his place, set fire to the building, and then allowed everyone to believe that Lucky had perished. Ethan was stunned at the lengths to which Helena had gone. Lucky explained that Helena was the gift that kept on giving. After a year of Helena's brainwashing, Lucky had been allowed to return to Port Charles. By then, even Elizabeth had moved on. Lucky believed that he had been trying to recapture what he had lost since the fire, but he realized that what he wanted no longer existed. Ethan recalled hearing that Elizabeth had fallen in love with Sonny's brother. Lucky was surprised that Ethan knew about Elizabeth's marriage to Ric Lansing. Lucky pointed out that Elizabeth seemed to be drawn to dark and troubled men like Ric. Lucky then talked a bit about Cameron's father, Zander Smith. Ethan questioned why Lucky didn't seem as angry about Nikolas' role in the affair. Lucky was furious with Nikolas, but it was Elizabeth who had kept going to Spoon Island, just as she had climbed 14 flights of stairs during a blackout to be with Jason Morgan. Ethan suggested that perhaps it was easier to blame Elizabeth. Lucky claimed that Elizabeth and Nikolas were both responsible for the betrayal. It sickened Lucky that they had been attracted to each other and then acted on it without caring whom they had hurt. The most painful part for Lucky had been the lying. Later, as Ethan and Lucky played pool, Lucky spotted a couple exchanging gifts. Lucky recalled falling in love with Elizabeth on Valentine's Day. Ethan told Lucky about the incident on the Haunted Star when Elizabeth had spotted the flyer. Lucky remembered finding Elizabeth just after she had been raped. She had crawled out of the snow-covered bushes, hurt and helpless. Lucky acknowledged that Lucky and Elizabeth had saved each other. Lucky thought that loving Elizabeth back to health meant that they would always trust each other. "Guess I was wrong," Lucky observed. Ethan thought that Elizabeth might be afraid to disappoint Lucky. Lucky realized that he had never moved beyond that moment in their lives. Lucky had always seen Elizabeth as that injured girl in the park, not the woman that she became. It didn't justify what Elizabeth had done to Lucky, but Lucky was willing to own up to his part. Elizabeth entered the church where she and Lucky had first exchanged vows of love and commitment during their teenage years. As cold air blew through the empty church, Elizabeth approached the altar to light candles. Memories of her violent rape assailed her. Elizabeth recalled Lucky finding her in the park and then offering to call his Aunt Bobbie. Elizabeth admitted that she should probably ask God for forgiveness, but what she had done had been unforgivable. She couldn't ask for strength and clarity to move on to make a decent life for her children because she just wanted Lucky back in her life. Elizabeth believed that only Lucky could make the family whole again. Memories of falling in love with Lucky continued to haunt Elizabeth as she sat down on one of the church pews. Elizabeth shivered with cold as tears filled her eyes. Later, Lucky entered the church. He rushed to Elizabeth when he noticed that she was slumping over in the pew. Lucky checked Elizabeth for a pulse. He cried out her name and then gathered her in his arms, but Elizabeth remained unresponsive. 2/15 Lucky found Elizabeth passed out from hypothermia in the old church where they had first made their vows many years before. He rushed her to General Hospital, where Nikolas just happened to be conducting business. As the emergency room staff worked on Elizabeth, Nikolas chastised Lucky for being so cruel and dispassionate with Elizabeth. He told Lucky that what had just happened did not alter or wipe out all the good memories that had gone before. He asked Lucky if he was happy and if Elizabeth had suffered enough. Lucky went to Elizabeth's room. She was unconscious, but he apologized to her anyway. He told her that he had wanted to hurt her the way that she had hurt him, but he had not intended that she end up in the hospital with her life at risk. He told her that what had happened did not erase the good in their lives and did not erase what they had meant to each other. Elizabeth woke up and turned to Lucky as Nikolas and Dr. Lee walked in. Dr. Lee told them that Elizabeth was recovering nicely from the hypothermia. Then she dropped the bombshell: Elizabeth was pregnant. 2/16 At the hospital, Elizabeth was stunned when Kelly announced that Elizabeth was three months pregnant. Elizabeth admitted that she had been under tremendous stress lately, so she hadn't realized that she was expecting. Kelly assured Elizabeth that the baby was fine. While Lucky struggled to absorb the news, Nikolas asked how soon they could have a paternity test. Kelly advised Nikolas that it was best to wait until the fifth month of pregnancy, which meant the end of April or beginning of May. Elizabeth was too shocked to deal with any of that, so she insisted on resting. Lucky and Nikolas left Elizabeth's room. Moments later, Steve approached Lucky and Nikolas. Steve had heard that his sister had been admitted to the hospital. Lucky explained that he had found Elizabeth in the chapel where they had first exchanged vows as teenagers. Lucky then revealed that Elizabeth was pregnant. Steve immediately demanded to know if it had ever crossed Nikolas' mind to use a condom. Lucky reminded Steve that it wasn't the time to point fingers; Elizabeth needed their help. Steve agreed. As Steve headed to Elizabeth's room, Steve confessed that he appreciated that Lucky and Nikolas had set aside their differences. However, Steve insisted that it would be best if they allowed Steve to take the lead with Elizabeth. Steve explained that Elizabeth would know that Steve supported her unconditionally. Lucky and Nikolas agreed. Steve, Lucky, and Nikolas grew concerned when they found Elizabeth's bed empty. They quickly split up to look for Elizabeth. Elizabeth wandered out onto the hospital's rooftop. She seemed unconcerned by the cold as she approached the ledge. A short time later, Lucky found Elizabeth perched on the ledge. Elizabeth was crying, unaware of Lucky's presence. Lucky quietly called out to Elizabeth. Elizabeth immediately apologized to Lucky. She realized that she had made a mess of everything. Lucky assured Elizabeth that they could fix whatever was wrong. Elizabeth argued that it was too late. Steve and Nikolas arrived moments later, but they remained silent as Lucky slowly approached Elizabeth. Lucky admitted that he had given up on the best part of himself: the way that he loved her. Lucky then reminded Elizabeth of Cameron and Jake, who needed their mother. Lucky held out his hand to Elizabeth as he promised her that they could work through anything. Elizabeth hesitated for several heartbeats before she took Lucky's hand. A short time later, Elizabeth was settled back into bed. In the hallway, Steve and Nikolas suggested that Elizabeth needed professional help. Steve and Nikolas thought that it would be best for Elizabeth to be committed to Shadybrook for evaluation and treatment. Lucky agreed. 2/17 In Elizabeth's hospital room, Elizabeth confessed to Lucky that she felt stronger after a restful sleep. Elizabeth was eager to get home, so that she could relax on the sofa with a cup of tea and then make plans for her baby. She noticed Lucky's pensive expression, so she quickly assured Lucky that he didn't need to be concerned. She was confident that everything would work out, even though the pregnancy hadn't been planned. Elizabeth was eager to get home to her boys. At the mention of her sons, Elizabeth realized that she would have to tell them about the baby soon. Lucky reminded Elizabeth that she had been in a bad place. Lucky assured Elizabeth that she was a wonderful mother, but she desperately needed some time to recover. Elizabeth agreed, which was why she was anxious to get home. Lucky gently broke the news that Elizabeth's doctors had agreed that it would be best for Elizabeth to be admitted to Shadybrook. Elizabeth was shocked. As tears filled her eyes, Elizabeth informed him, "No way." In the hallway, Nikolas and Steve listened as Lucky tried to talk to Elizabeth about Shadybrook. Steve was relieved that Nikolas and Lucky had agreed to set aside their differences, so that they could help Elizabeth. Steve hoped that they meant it. Steve and Nikolas became concerned when they heard Elizabeth's raised voice. It was clear that Elizabeth was quite distraught. Steve questioned if it had been a good idea for Lucky to talk to Elizabeth about Shadybrook. Steve wondered if Nikolas had considered being the one to talk to Elizabeth about it. Nikolas admitted that he had been concerned that he would just make matters worse. Steve worried that it might be a mistake for Lucky to once again take the role of Elizabeth's "savior." In Elizabeth's hospital room, Elizabeth admitted that she had been wrong to lie to Lucky. She realized that she had hurt him deeply. She begged him not to take her away from her sons. Lucky insisted that he wasn't trying to punish her. He promised that once she was stronger, they'd all be there for her. Lucky just wanted Elizabeth to get well. Elizabeth argued that she just wanted to go home. Lucky understood how scary it was to seek treatment; he reminded her that he had fought going to rehab, but in the end he had been grateful. Elizabeth pointed out that Lucky was still drinking. Lucky insisted that his drinking days were over; he intended to attend a meeting later that afternoon. If necessary, Lucky was prepared to go to Shadybrook for rehab. Elizabeth considered rehab to be vastly different than what she was facing. Treatment to Elizabeth meant locked wards, screaming people, and rocking chairs. Elizabeth was confident that she could get well on her own. Nikolas entered the room to apologize for making a difficult situation worse. Nikolas knew what it was like to grow up without a mother. One of the reasons that Nikolas admired and respected Elizabeth was because she was a great mother. Elizabeth demanded to know what would happen to Cam and Jake. Lucky promised that Audrey and Lucky would take care of the boys until Elizabeth was well enough to return home. Almost defiantly, Elizabeth agreed to go to Shadybrook, but she made it clear that she was doing it for her children. Later, Robin entered Elizabeth's room. Elizabeth recalled advising Robin to seek in-patient treatment for postpartum depression. Elizabeth realized that she had no idea what she had been talking about. Robin insisted that treatment had helped her. Elizabeth didn't think that their situations were the same. Robin disagreed. Elizabeth pointed out that Robin didn't have to wonder whose baby Robin had been carrying. Robin and Patrick arrived home in a somber mood. Robin and Patrick apologized to each other for the things that they had said during their argument. Robin realized that she could have easily been in Elizabeth's situation. She was grateful that Patrick had stuck by her side. Patrick assured Robin that she couldn't get rid of him that easily. A heated kiss led to a race to the bedroom. Lucky went to the Haunted Star to talk to his father. Luke admitted that he had heard about Elizabeth. Lucky apologized for not calling sooner. According to Lucky, after Elizabeth had settled down for the night, Lucky had been consumed by thoughts of all the cruel things that he had said to Elizabeth in recent weeks. Luke pointed out that Lucky had every reason to be angry. Lucky agreed, but he admitted that he had been relentless. Lucky wondered why, after all of the things that Elizabeth had done to him, Lucky still cared about her. Luke suggested that after Elizabeth received treatment, there would be plenty of time for Lucky and Elizabeth to decide about the future. Lucky believed that, no matter who had fathered the baby, Elizabeth needed Lucky. Steve was by Elizabeth's side when she admitted herself to Shadybrook. Elizabeth relaxed a bit when Steve showed her to the room where she would be staying. She admitted that it wasn't as scary as she had expected. Elizabeth confessed that she needed to get strong, so that she could face the truth. "What truth is that?" Steve asked. Elizabeth confided that she had slept with Nikolas repeatedly, while she had slept with Lucky only once. Elizabeth was certain that Nikolas was the father of her baby. Later, Helena entered Elizabeth's room at Shadybrook. Helena congratulated Elizabeth on her promiscuity. According to Helena, it was what Elizabeth did best. Elizabeth ordered Helena to leave, but Helena ignored her. Helena was delighted that Elizabeth had checked herself in to the sanitarium. Helena claimed that Elizabeth had done half of Helena's work for her. 2/18 On the Haunted Star, Lucky wondered if Luke thought that Elizabeth was in Shadybrook because of Lucky. Luke advised Lucky not to go there because Lucky would eventually convince himself that he could somehow save Elizabeth. Lucky felt guilty about the way that he had treated Elizabeth since learning about the affair with Nikolas. Lucky confessed that he was tempted to tell Elizabeth that he would be there for her and the boys, just to get her through her crisis. Luke thought that it was the worst idea that he had ever heard. Luke insisted that Elizabeth had a lot of work ahead of her, but she had doctors to help her. Lucky wanted to provide Elizabeth with a "cushion." Luke admitted that it sounded like Lucky was trying to find a way to commit to Elizabeth. Lucky was adamant that it was over between him and Elizabeth, but he had Cam and Jake to worry about. Lucky felt that he owned it to them to help their mother. Lucky couldn't forget seeing Elizabeth contemplating jumping from the hospital's roof. Luke wondered what would happen if the baby that Elizabeth carried was Nikolas'. "Aren't you tired of raising other men's children?" Luke asked. Lucky made it clear that if Nikolas was the father then it would be up to Elizabeth and Nikolas to decide what they would do; however, Lucky had invested too much into Cam and Jake's lives to walk away. Lucky didn't think that he could tell Elizabeth that it was over when she was in the state she was in. Luke understood, but he advised Lucky to think things through. Lucky's good intentions could make matters worse. At Wyndemere, Lucky entered while Nikolas worked. Lucky made it clear that it was the last time that he would be summoned to Wyndemere. Nikolas explained that he wanted to have their conversation face-to-face rather than on the phone. Nikolas had made arrangements for the baby in case Nikolas was the father. Lucky couldn't believe that Nikolas was thinking of taking the baby from Elizabeth. Nikolas quickly clarified that he loved Elizabeth and hoped to marry her after she recovered. Nikolas insisted that he wasn't like Jason; Nikolas would never walk away from his child. At Shadybrook, Helena confessed that she was disappointed to hear that Elizabeth was carrying Nikolas' child. Helena had hoped for a more suitable mother for her grandchild. Helena was curious why Nikolas seemed to be drawn to "fragile, namby-pamby" women. However, Helena suspected that Elizabeth wasn't as "mealy and pure" as Elizabeth appeared. Helena was certain that Elizabeth had a black heart and a cruel streak like a true Cassadine. Elizabeth ordered Helena to leave. Helena ignored Elizabeth's demands; she continued to insult Elizabeth. Elizabeth grew increasingly agitated. Helena did congratulate Elizabeth for accomplishing what Helena never could; Elizabeth had caused a rift between Nikolas and Lucky. Helena hoped that the baby inherited Elizabeth's dark side. Elizabeth warned Helena that Helena would never get near the baby. Helena was curious who would stop Helena. "Stay away from my baby, you bitch!" Elizabeth screamed. Elizabeth picked up a chair and then threw it across the room. Helena grew concerned for the welfare of the baby. She advised Elizabeth to calm down, but Elizabeth continued yelling at Helena to get out. Eventually, an orderly entered the room. Helena instructed him to medicate Elizabeth, but to take care because Elizabeth was pregnant. Helena made it clear that she did not want anything to happen to the baby. Elizabeth vowed that Helena would never get near her baby. After Helena left, Elizabeth wandered to the window. As Elizabeth stared out, she imagined herself sitting in a rocking chair in a catatonic state. In the vision, Elizabeth saw Jason, Lucky, and Nikolas standing before her. They looked down at Elizabeth with pity as they discussed the children. Jason assured Nikolas and Lucky that Jake was fine with him and Sam. Jason claimed that Elizabeth had been wrong about the danger to Jake. Lucky explained that he had decided not to let Cam visit Elizabeth because it was bad enough that the kids teased him about his "crazy slut" mother. Nikolas insisted that the baby was too young to understand what was wrong with Elizabeth. Lucky leaned down to look Elizabeth in the eyes, while she continued to stare off into space. Lucky confessed that he pitied Elizabeth, rather than hated her, because of her catatonic state. Elizabeth's eyes filled with tears as the vision disappeared. Elizabeth dropped to the floor and then cried. Patrick found her there a short time later. Patrick sat down beside Elizabeth and then admitted that he used to sit just as she was, while hoping that no one could see him. Elizabeth admitted that she could see him. She reached out for his hand and then added that she could feel him. Elizabeth begged him, "Please tell me you are real." Patrick promised her that he was. Patrick assured Elizabeth that he and Robin cared about her very much. Elizabeth loved the way that Patrick and Robin treated each other. She warned him that lies and secrets were poisonous. Elizabeth went on to confide that Helena had been in her room earlier, or so she had thought. Elizabeth wasn't certain anymore what was real and what wasn't. Patrick knew that Elizabeth was scared, but he promised her that signing herself into Shadybrook had been half the battle. Elizabeth realized that she had to get better before the baby was born. By the end of the visit, Elizabeth appeared to be in a better place. As Patrick prepared to leave, Elizabeth asked him how he would have felt if Robin had cheated on him with Matt. Patrick admitted that it would have hurt him deeply, but he would have wondered what his part in all of it had been. Elizabeth was curious if it was possible to be imperfect yet still be a good mother. Patrick compared Elizabeth's situation to the emergency instructions on a plane when parents are told to put on the oxygen masks first and then help their children with theirs. Patrick advised Elizabeth to concentrate on herself. Shortly after Patrick left, Helena returned to Elizabeth's room. "Have you no shame?" Helena demanded, "Now you're throwing yourself at another woman's husband?" Elizabeth insisted that Patrick was just a friend. Helena suggested that it always started that way with Elizabeth. Helena accused Elizabeth of being a sexual predator. She threatened to have Elizabeth declared an unfit mother. Elizabeth demanded that Helena get out. Helena jumped when the door flew open. Lucky stood in the doorway with his gun aimed at Helena. Lucky warned Helena to get away from Elizabeth, or he would blow Helena's head off. 2/19 At Shadybrook, Lucky aimed his gun at Helena and then threatened to shoot. Helena accused Lucky of being a small-town police officer who drank too much. Lucky warned Helena that he would do whatever he had to, in order to protect Elizabeth and the children. Helena argued that Elizabeth was a "tramp" who would never love Lucky as much as Lucky loved Elizabeth. Lucky continued to threaten Helena, but Helena ignored him. Helena believed that Lucky should be relieved to be rid of Elizabeth. Lucky pointed out that the baby could be his. Helena agreed there was a possibility, but then she reminded Lucky that Elizabeth and Nikolas had been "rutting like animals," so the odds were in Nikolas' favor. Helena suggested that Elizabeth and Lucky's love was dead as far as Elizabeth was concerned. Elizabeth insisted that Helena was lying. Helena was certain that Lucky was sick of Elizabeth's lies and promiscuity. Lucky made it clear that he would protect Elizabeth no matter who the father of the baby was. Helena warned Lucky that Elizabeth would "whore" herself out to the next man. Lucky once again ordered Helena to leave; she smiled in satisfaction as she complied. Lucky immediately wrapped his arms around Elizabeth as she cried. He promised Elizabeth that Helena would never go near her again. Elizabeth apologized; she admitted that Helena had been right about many things. Elizabeth assured Lucky that he didn't have any obligation to the baby, regardless who the father was. Lucky refused to abandon Elizabeth. She couldn't understand how Lucky could continue to love her after everything that she had done to him. Lucky chose his words carefully as he admitted that he had known that Elizabeth had reservations about getting married. Elizabeth insisted that Lucky had not been to blame because she had been lying to him. Lucky regretted that he had shut Elizabeth out after he had learned about the affair. Lucky had been in a similar situation when he became involved with Maxie. Elizabeth quickly blamed it on his addiction. She, on the other hand, didn't have an excuse. Lucky suggested that Elizabeth "self-sabotaged" her relationships. He urged her to figure out why, so that she could get well. He promised that he would never turn his back on her and that they would always be a part of each other's lives. Elizabeth wondered if Lucky forgave her. Lucky avoided the question as they continued to talk about what had happened between them. Lucky didn't know what the future held for them, but he assured her that everything would be fine. Cam and Jake were his boys, so they would always be a family. Elizabeth wanted that more than anything. As Lucky rocked her in his arms, Elizabeth again asked if he had forgiven her. Lucky quietly answered, "Yes. Yes, I forgive you." Elizabeth was unaware that Lucky had tears in his eyes and his expression was filled with pain. Elizabeth was in a rocking chair when Nikolas entered her room at Shadybrook. Elizabeth gave Nikolas a frosty reception before she informed him that Helena had paid her several visits. Nikolas admitted that he had been afraid Helena would seek Elizabeth out. He assured Elizabeth that Helena wouldn't bother her again. Elizabeth warned Nikolas that Helena was obsessed with the baby. Elizabeth was curious what it would mean for everyone if the baby turned out to be Nikolas' child. Nikolas vowed to love the baby; he refused to be sorry about it. Elizabeth admitted that she had regrets. Nikolas confessed that he hated lying to Lucky, but his feeling for Elizabeth hadn't changed; he was in love with her. Lucky was speeding away from Shadybrook. He pressed the accelerator to the floor and then suddenly jerked the steering wheel to avoid a head-on collision with another car. DVD #2B 2/22 At Shadybrook, Nikolas vowed his love for Elizabeth and she vowed hers for Lucky. Elizabeth told Nikolas that Lucky was helping her through this tough patch and that he was the only one she needed. Nikolas said that not facing the truth was what had put her in Shadybrook and that she needed all the help she could get. Nikolas told her that the paternity of the child would make all the difference and he wanted to do an early test. Elizabeth responded that he already had one child that he pretty much ignored, so she wondered why he cared about this one unless he thought that a baby might bring them together. Nikolas told Elizabeth that no matter who the father was, the baby was a blessing. He also assured Elizabeth that he would make sure that she was safe from Helena while she stayed at Shadybrook. Maxie and Lucky ran each other off the road, but neither was seriously injured. Lucky had a slight injury to the head, but refused to go to the hospital. He did agree to go to Maxie's apartment so that she could care for him. Once Maxie got Lucky to her apartment, he admitted that he was no longer drinking and was not doing drugs. Because of their shared past, when Maxie had been stealing drugs to feed Lucky's habit and keep their affair going, Lucky was able to unburden himself to her. He admitted that he had not forgiven Elizabeth. He said that every time he looked at Elizabeth, he saw her copulating with Nikolas. Lucky said that he did not know if he loved Elizabeth, because hate and love felt the same to him. Maxie told him that he needed to be honest. She advised him to find another way to help Elizabeth, because giving her false hope was not the answer. Maxie said that if he continued being untruthful with Elizabeth, they would both end up in pain. Lucky left after getting a call from headquarters that sent him to Pier 52. When Lucky arrived at Pier 52, Jason was already there looking for clues. Lucky told Jason about Elizabeth's pregnancy. He also told Jason that he had stopped drinking and was attending meetings again. Jason was glad to hear that Lucky was taking his responsibilities to Cameron and Jake seriously. After asking Jason the obligatory cop question as to why he was on the pier and receiving a lackluster reply, Lucky was shocked when Jason replied in the affirmative to Lucky's suggestion that they work together to find out what had happened on the pier. 2/23 At Pier 52, Jason secretly pocketed a bullet shell casing, while Lucky questioned Jason about the hijacked shipment. Jason claimed that he had no idea who had committed the crime. Lucky wasn't surprised by Jason's lack of cooperation. Jason suggested that Ethan might have information, since Ethan had been spotted on the piers just before the shipment had been stolen. Lucky entered The Haunted Star. Lulu warned Lucky that she would not be dictated to about Dante. Lucky clarified that he thought highly of Dante. Lulu hugged Lucky and then left without a backward glance to the rest of her family. Lucky approached the bar to question Ethan about the hijacked Corinthos shipment. Ethan admitted to being at Pier 52 to pick up some cigars from Luke's connection, Carlos. Ethan also acknowledged that he had seen Sonny's men, but Ethan insisted that he had no knowledge of the stolen cargo. Lucky suspected that Ethan and Luke knew more than they were willing to admit. Luke responded, "You know the rules." Lucky nodded and then confessed, "I wouldn't have it any other way." Jason and Lucky met at Pier 52. Jason let Lucky know that Johnny had been behind the shootout and the hijacked shipment. Jason explained that Johnny wanted payback for Claudia's death. Lucky realized that Jason hoped that the police would handle the situation before Jason was forced to kill Johnny. 2/26 Lucky broke into Johnny's garage. Lucky realized that someone was already lurking inside, so Lucky identified himself as a police officer and then ordered the person in the garage to freeze. Luke stepped out of the shadows moments later. Lucky wondered why Luke was snooping around Johnny's garage. Luke eventually revealed that Sonny's hijacked shipment had been hidden in the garage. Lucky had already known that Johnny had been responsible for the stolen shipment. Lucky revealed that Jason had found some shell casings at Pier 52 and that Spinelli had discovered some surveillance footage of Johnny fleeing the scene. Luke was concerned that Ethan was being drawn into Johnny's vendetta. Lucky confided that Jason wanted Lucky to arrest Johnny before things went too far. Luke changed the subject to inquire about Lucky's head injury. Lucky told Luke about the car accident that had followed Lucky's visit with Elizabeth. Luke was surprised to hear that Lucky had assured Elizabeth that all had been forgiven. Lucky quickly clarified that it had been a lie; the words had merely been an attempt to help Elizabeth through a difficult period. Luke suggested that it was much too soon for Lucky to consider forgiving Elizabeth. Lucky was frustrated because he felt as if Elizabeth was disappearing before his eyes. Lucky didn't know what to do. Luke suggested that they knock Ethan over the head, throw Ethan into a trunk, and then drive to Key West for a vacation. Lucky admitted that it sounded tempting, but he couldn't leave. Luke advised Lucky to consider that it might be time for Lucky to accept that Lucky's time with Elizabeth was over. A short time later, Lucky received a call advising him that Sonny's bail might be revoked. Luke was certain that Jason would take steps to make certain that Sonny did not go to jail. Lucky agreed. Luke warned Lucky that things were about to get ugly, so Lucky needed to be prepared. Lucky appreciated his father's advice. Lucky left moments later. 3/1 Lucky was driving in his car while talking to someone at the police station. Lucky advised the person on the phone that a possible crime was in progress. A short time later, Lucky pulled up behind Jason's SUV. Jason sat in the SUV as Lucky approached the driver's side window. Lucky asked for Jason's driver's license and registration. After Jason reluctantly handed the requested items to Lucky, Lucky conversationally remarked that Sonny's bail might be revoked. Lucky wondered if Jason intended to "break Sonny out." Jason refused to comment. Jason stepped out of the vehicle while Lucky made himself comfortable leaning on the back bumper of Jason's SUV. Lucky admitted that he had been relieved when he had realized that Jason might be planning on helping Sonny to escape. Lucky explained that it had given Lucky an excuse not to see Elizabeth at Shadybrook. Lucky confessed that he was trying to wrap his mind around the fact that Elizabeth was pregnant. Lucky was certain that Nikolas was the father of the baby. Jason wished that he could offer some words of advice, but Jason suspected that it was best for him to stay out of it. Lucky assured Jason that regardless who the father of Elizabeth's baby was, Jake and Cameron would always be Lucky's sons. Jason appeared distracted as he kept looking at the courthouse. Lucky continued talking about Jake and Cameron. Lucky wanted to give Jake and Cam consistency. Lucky talked about what a wonderful child Jake was. Lucky insisted that Jake had been a joy since birth. Jason wondered what was next for Lucky. Lucky didn't know, but he promised that he would do whatever was right for the boys and Elizabeth. Jason advised Lucky to be truthful. Sam approached Jason moments later. Sam spotted Lucky, so she pretended that her meeting with Jason had been planned. Lucky didn't believe Sam, but she stubbornly stuck to her story and then revealed that the judge had rendered a verdict about Sonny's bail. Lucky went to the Haunted Star at Luke's request. Luke explained that he needed Lucky's help. Luke's cigar connection, Carlos, had been arrested. Luke explained that Carlos' cigars were special because they had been "rolled on the tender thighs of mountain virgins." Luke was desperate to help Carlos; he wondered if Lucky could "fix it," so that the charges against Carlos disappeared. Lucky was stunned by the request. "Are you serious?" Lucky asked. "Yes," Luke answered. Lucky refused to make the charges go away, but he did offer to check to see if there was a loophole or another way around the charges. Luke appreciated any help that Lucky could provide. Lucky then changed the subject; he revealed that he intended to tell Elizabeth the truth. Luke supported Lucky's decision. At Shadybrook, Nikolas surprised Elizabeth with a visit from her sons. Elizabeth happily greeted Jake and Cam. After she hugged her boys, Elizabeth told them about the baby. Cam wondered if that was the reason why Elizabeth was in the hospital. Elizabeth assured Cam that she wasn't sick; she explained that she was tired and needed to rest. Elizabeth promised her boys that they could visit her often and that she would talk to them every day on the phone. Later, Nikolas announced that it was time to leave. Elizabeth appreciated Nikolas taking the time to drive the boys to Shadybrook for a visit. She asked Nikolas to return once he dropped them off. Nikolas readily agreed. After Nikolas returned, Elizabeth once again thanked Nikolas for his consideration. She admitted that she felt like a terrible mother, but Nikolas assured her that she wasn't. He admitted that he had been trying to help out by spending time with Jake and Cam. Nikolas revealed that he had taken the boys to Wyndemere, so that they could play with their cousin, Spencer. However, he sheepishly confessed that he had left the boys alone with the nanny for a while. Elizabeth hoped that Nikolas wasn't trying to lay the groundwork for them to become a family. Elizabeth warned Nikolas that it would be a waste of time. Elizabeth insisted that they weren't going to be a family even if Nikolas were the father of her baby. Nikolas confessed that he hoped to change her mind. He didn't want to pressure her, but he needed her to know that he didn't have any intention to bowing out of the baby's life. Elizabeth made it clear that she hadn't asked him to. Elizabeth lit up when Lucky entered the room moments later. Lucky asked to speak privately to Elizabeth, so Nikolas left. Once the door closed behind Nikolas, Lucky confessed that he needed to be honest with her. Lucky insisted that he would always be there for her and the boys, but he wanted her to understand that they didn't have a future together as a couple. Lucky revealed that he had been concerned after he had found her in the church suffering from hypothermia and then later on the hospital's rooftop after she had been told that she was pregnant. Lucky admitted that he had told Elizabeth what he thought she had needed to hear. Elizabeth wondered if that meant that he hadn't forgiven her. Lucky apologized, but made it clear that he hadn't forgiven her for the affair. Lucky explained that they had gotten themselves into a bad place. The damage was beyond repair, so they had to let go. Elizabeth appreciated Lucky's honesty. As much as it hurt her, she realized that it was time that they all faced reality. Elizabeth revealed that she had decided to take the paternity test the following day. 3/2 At Shadybrook, Lucky invited Nikolas into Elizabeth's room. Elizabeth let Nikolas know that she intended to take the paternity test the following day. Lucky wasn't comfortable with Elizabeth's decision; he was concerned about her emotional state. Nikolas agreed with Lucky. Elizabeth pointed out that Lucky didn't want a future with her. She thought that it would be best for all of them to find out the baby's paternity, so that they could be free to move forward. Later, Elizabeth returned from a counseling session. Lucky and Nikolas were waiting in Elizabeth's room. Elizabeth was glad to see them. She had discussed her decision about the paternity test with Lainey Winters. Elizabeth admitted that it was more stressful not knowing who the father was than taking the test. Elizabeth had scheduled an appointment at the hospital with Kelly, so she needed Lucky and Nikolas to provide DNA samples. Both men agreed. As Lucky and Nikolas left the room, Nikolas asked for a moment of his brother's time. Lucky confessed that he couldn't stand the sight of Nikolas, so he was eager to leave. Nikolas understood Lucky's anger, but Nikolas thought that it was important for them to find a way to be civil towards each other. Lucky promised to find a way to coexist for the sake of Laura and the children. After Lucky and Nikolas walked away, Helena entered Elizabeth's room. Elizabeth was asleep. Helena adjusted Elizabeth's blanket and then walked to the window. "Sleep tight my little dear," Helena whispered to Elizabeth, "Tomorrow we confirm that you are carrying a Cassadine heir." 3/3 Lucky went to Shadybrook at Elizabeth's request. Elizabeth explained that she intended to have the paternity test later that day, but she didn't want Lucky to be there. Lucky was surprised; he had hoped to offer her some support. Elizabeth insisted that it was time that she learned to stand on her own. Lucky agreed to respect Elizabeth's wishes. A short time later, Nikolas entered Elizabeth's room. Elizabeth repeated her request; she didn't want Nikolas to be present when she had the paternity test. Nikolas confessed that he had hoped to talk to Elizabeth before the test. Elizabeth cut him off. She didn't think that she was ready for any big discussions. Elizabeth wanted to figure things out first. Nikolas agreed not to pressure her. After Nikolas left, Robin arrived to offer Elizabeth a ride to the hospital. Elizabeth readily accepted; she hadn't looked forward to arriving at the hospital in one of Shadybrook's vans. Elizabeth confided that she was nervous about the paternity test. Elizabeth also confessed that it was the first time since she had been a teenager that she didn't have a man in her life; it was one of several unhealthy patterns that Elizabeth hoped to break. Robin advised Elizabeth to take one step at a time. Robin assured Elizabeth that facing the truth about the baby was a great start. Elizabeth remained unsure; she realized that she wasn't as strong as she had thought. Robin wondered what Elizabeth desired most in the world. Elizabeth confessed that she wanted to give her children a mother and father who lived under one roof and functioned as a loving family. Elizabeth had that with Lucky, but Elizabeth had destroyed it by sleeping with Nikolas. Robin was surprised when Elizabeth revealed that Nikolas wanted to marry Elizabeth. Elizabeth couldn't accept the proposal, which made Elizabeth feel as if it was another way that she had hurt Nikolas. Robin suggested that one of the reasons that Elizabeth had a breakdown was because Elizabeth was always trying to make everyone happy. Robin insisted that it was time for Elizabeth to focus on making herself happy, not others. Elizabeth accepted that she had to be alone, but she had depended on Lucky for so long that she didn't know how to stop. Alexis arrived at Wyndemere with a notary public. She introduced Mr. Fleming to Nikolas and then explained that Mr. Fleming would witness the signature on the document that Nikolas had requested. Alexis made an attempt to caution Nikolas about setting up a trust for Elizabeth's baby before the paternity test results were in, but Nikolas insisted on forging ahead. Nikolas was concerned about Helena, so he wanted to take steps to protect Spencer and the baby. At the hospital, Helena bribed a lab technician. Helena promised that there would be more money if the lab tech followed her instructions to the letter. Later, the lab tech picked up Nikolas' DNA sample, while Helena lurked nearby. Lucky went to the Haunted Star to let Luke know that he had given his DNA sample for the paternity test. Lucky seemed certain that Nikolas was the father. Lucky insisted that nothing would change for Jake and Cam, but Nikolas and Elizabeth would have to work things out for the new baby. "What if the kid is yours?" Luke wondered. Lucky didn't think that the odds were in his favor. Luke wasn't satisfied with Lucky's answer. Lucky was curious if Luke was worried that Lucky might be tempted to ask Elizabeth to marry him if the baby turned out to be his. Lucky quickly assured Luke that it wouldn't happen. Lucky had made certain that Elizabeth understood that they would never be a couple again. Moments later, Lucky received a call about a possible break-in. Lucky assured dispatch that he didn't need backup. Dante advised Lucky to be careful. Dante reminded Lucky what had happened when Dante had declined backup. Someone wearing a Bill Clinton mask attempted to disarm a building's alarm system by cutting some wires. Lucky appeared in the alley as the masked man worked. The masked man fled when Lucky ordered him to freeze. Lucky gave chase and eventually cornered the masked man on a rooftop. As Lucky burst through the door leading to the rooftop, the masked man raised his gun and then fired a shot at Lucky. 3/4 Lucky spotted a man wearing a Bill Clinton mask attempting to break into a building. The masked man fled when he saw Lucky. Lucky chased the masked man to a rooftop. The masked man opened fire on Lucky and then leaped to freedom. Later, Lucky arrived at the police station, where he quickly updated Dante on what had transpired. Lucky confided that he suspected Johnny had been behind the attempted break-in. Lucky explained that the target had been Bernie's office. Lucky revealed that the man had been wearing a mask of an ex-president, which he had dropped after escaping. Dante guessed, "George Bush or Bill Clinton?" Lucky was surprised; he was curious how Dante had known. Dante explained that Max preferred to wear a Bill Clinton mask while Milo always wore a George Bush mask. Lucky and Dante agreed that it was further proof that Johnny was the masked man. Dante believed that Johnny's determination to target Sonny leveled the playing field. Lucky worried that things would quickly escalate even though Johnny hadn't done any serious harm. Dante disagreed; he pointed out that Johnny had shot at Lucky. Lucky insisted that Johnny had missed on purpose. Lucky admitted that he had recently held a gun to Johnny's head, but Johnny had given Lucky a free pass. Lucky was tempted to return the favor. Lucky couldn't imagine going after Luke the way that they were expected to go after Sonny; he confessed that he wouldn't be able to do it. Dante didn't have any qualms about taking down Sonny. Dante believed that Sonny had to be stopped. Lucky and Dante were surprised when Ronnie emerged from a nearby interrogation room. Ronnie informed Dante and Lucky that the FBI had put together a task force. Lucky, Dante, and Ronnie had to work together to shut down the mob in Port Charles. Lucky stopped by Jason's penthouse to discuss the attempted break-in at Bernie's office. Lucky revealed that the suspect had been wearing a Bill Clinton mask. Jason assured Lucky that the culprit hadn't been Max. Lucky was confident that Jason knew exactly who it was. Jason was surprised that Johnny had shot at Lucky. Lucky quickly clarified that it had been warning shots. Jason believed that Johnny was out of control, but Lucky warned Jason to stay out of it. It was Lucky's job to go after Johnny. At Jake’s bar, Johnny glanced at the end of the bar. Lucky was perched on a stool wearing the Bill Clinton mask. At Wyndemere, Nikolas signed the necessary documents to set up a trust fund for Spencer and Elizabeth's baby. Alexis warned Nikolas that the road to hell was paved with good intentions; she suggested that Nikolas burn the papers. Alexis was concerned that Nikolas was making the children a target. Nikolas reminded Alexis that Helena was already "drooling" over the possibility of a Cassadine heir. He didn't think that anything he did would matter to Helena. Nikolas pointed out that the documents would be sealed, so it was unlikely that Helena would know about them. Alexis suggested that Helena was like the "Watcher in the Water," a monster from Middle Earth, featured in The Lord of the Rings. According to Alexis, the creature saw everything. Nikolas argued that providing the children with financial independence meant that Helena would not be able to control them. Alexis disagreed; Helena would find a way to use it against the children. Alexis suspected that the real motive for the trust was to endear himself to Elizabeth. Nikolas insisted that Elizabeth and Lucky were over and that Elizabeth was trying to figure things out. He admitted that he was hopeful for a future with Elizabeth, but he was determined to give Elizabeth the space that she needed. Alexis confessed that her own experience was that when things started out bad, they tended to end the same way. Nikolas regretted the lies and deception, but his love for Elizabeth was real. Alexis wondered how Nikolas would feel if Lucky turned out to be the father of Elizabeth's baby. Nikolas insisted that it wouldn't change how Nikolas felt about Elizabeth. Nikolas hoped that the baby was his, so that Elizabeth and Nikolas would be in each other's lives. Nikolas believed that with time Elizabeth might see that they could be good together. At the hospital, Kelly took the necessary samples for the paternity test. After the procedure, Elizabeth confessed that it had been easier than she had expected. Kelly assured Elizabeth that they would have the results within a few days. Later, Elizabeth and Kelly approached the nurses' station where Robin was waiting for Elizabeth. Robin revealed that everyone at the hospital was pulling for Elizabeth and that they were passing around a huge card, which everyone was signing. Epiphany confided that she had written a special message for Elizabeth. Elizabeth was touched by everyone's support, but she confessed that all she could think about was finding out who the baby's father was. Robin and Elizabeth returned to Shadybrook a short time later. Elizabeth was grateful for everything that Robin had done for her. Elizabeth was also relieved that Lucky and Nikolas had not been at the hospital because they would have hovered over her. Elizabeth told Robin about Cam and Jake's visit. Robin surprised Elizabeth with a drawing that the boys had given to Robin for Elizabeth. Elizabeth was thrilled with the picture. Later, Elizabeth was hanging Cam and Jake's picture when Alexis entered her room. Elizabeth was happy to see Alexis. Alexis offered Elizabeth some words of encouragement and then revealed that Nikolas had set aside "substantial assets" to provide for the baby. Elizabeth was stunned; she pointed out that they didn't know yet if Nikolas was the father. Alexis explained that the trust was in place, regardless who the father of the baby was. Alexis assured Elizabeth that there weren't any strings attached to the trust. Helena reminded the lab technician that she wanted to be the first person to review the paternity results. Helena would decide what Nikolas and Lucky should know. Helena panicked when Nikolas approached the door. Luckily for Helena, Lisa stopped Nikolas before he could enter. The lab tech helped Helena to slip out of the room before Nikolas spotted her. 3/5 At Jake's Lucky confronted Johnny with the President Clinton mask. He accused Johnny of trying to break into Bernie's office, but Johnny denied it. When Lucky kicked him in the shins, Johnny cried, "Ouch." Lucky wanted to know if Johnny had hurt himself jumping off Bernie's building to escape capture, but Johnny retorted that he had fallen out of bed. Lucky told Johnny that the police were not his enemy. Ethan joined them and made a joke about the Clinton mask. Lucky told Johnny that he could not stop Lucky from pursuing Johnny's attacks against Sonny, but Lucky would stop Johnny from involving Ethan in his vendetta. Lucky went to Jason and told him all that he knew about Johnny's attempt to break into Bernie's office. When Lucky said that he did not have enough evidence to arrest Johnny, Jason said that he would have to take action because Johnny's attacks were making Sonny look weak, and that could lead to a mob war. Lucky begged Jason to stall. He told Jason that he had to find a way because it was Lucky's family that was in jeopardy. Spinelli was lurking on the stairs and overheard the conversation. After Lucky left, Spinelli told Jason that he had an idea. Steve went to Shadybrook to visit Elizabeth. He delivered brownies to her, and she reminisced about the times that she had shared brownies with Emily, Lucky, and Nikolas. Then she told Steve that it was time for her to move on. She told him that she had decided to raise her children on her own. Steve questioned her decision and told her that Gram was already spending a lot more time with the boys than she should at her age. Steve told Elizabeth that she should consider that the boys were already upset because of the transitions in their lives and that they might need the love and support of their father. Lucky caught up with Ethan on the Haunted Star and asked about his green card. When Ethan could produce neither a green card nor a work visa, Lucky told him he would be safer in Australia. Lucky was in the process of reading Ethan his rights when Luke interrupted and told Lucky that he could not arrest Ethan. When Nikolas went to Shadybrook to see Elizabeth, she told him that she did not need his help and that she would raise her children on her own. Nikolas wanted to know why she accepted money and a house from Jason, but would not take anything from him. Nikolas asked why Jason got to take care of his child and Nikolas did not. 3/8 On the Haunted Star, Lucky informed Luke that Ethan's visa had expired, so Lucky intended to turn Ethan over to the Immigration and Naturalization Service. Ethan smugly predicted that Luke would object. Luke quickly replied, "You're wrong." Luke volunteered to drop off Ethan's toothbrush at the INS office. Ethan was shocked; he suspected that Luke was mad because Ethan had stolen a box of cigars from Sonny. Luke clarified that he didn't care that Ethan had stolen the cigars; he was concerned because Ethan had gone on a "suicide mission" to obtain them. Ethan was disappointed that Luke refused to stop the deportation. Luke pointed out that Ethan would be returned to Australia, where it was warm and sunny. Luke suggested that after a few months in Australia, Ethan could obtain a new visa and then return to Port Charles. Luke was confident that by then, everything would have settled down between Johnny and Sonny. Ethan argued that the deportation was a "radical solution." Lucky insisted that it was a last resort to save Ethan from Johnny's recklessness. Ethan denied any involvement in Johnny's vendetta. Luke revealed that Sonny had assured Luke that Ethan was under Sonny's protection. Lucky wasn't comforted; he pointed out that Michael had also been under Sonny's protection when a sniper's bullet had struck Michael in the head. Ethan was flattered by the "onslaught of attention," but he promised that he had very little to do with Johnny's plans. Lucky was curious what Ethan's definition of "very little" was. Ethan insisted that all he had done was stolen the box of cigars and romanced Bernie's secretary. Lucky didn't buy it, but he decided to wash his hands of the matter. Lucky advised Ethan to get a green card and then left. At Shadybrook, Elizabeth demanded to know why Nikolas had dragged Jason's name into their conversation. Elizabeth pointed out that they didn't even know if the baby was Nikolas'. Nikolas suggested that the odds were in his favor; however, even if the baby weren't his child, it would be his niece or nephew. Elizabeth made it clear that she didn't need Nikolas providing for her or her children. Nikolas wanted to know why not. Elizabeth was frustrated because Nikolas never listened to what she told him. Nikolas disagreed; he insisted that he heard her loud and clear. Nikolas believed that Elizabeth was afraid that if she took his money then she would never get Lucky back. Elizabeth closed the door to give them privacy. She carefully explained that her life had ceased to exist as she knew it the moment that Lucky had learned of their affair. Elizabeth realized that she had broken Lucky's trust and ruined any chance at a future with the best man that she had ever known. Elizabeth took full responsibility for compromising Lucky's sobriety. However, she was grateful that Lucky still cared enough about her to be concerned about what happened to her. Elizabeth didn't have any illusions about a reconciliation, but it wasn't a matter of if she couldn't have Lucky then she could have Nikolas. Elizabeth needed to be alone. She admitted that when she looked at Nikolas, all she saw was "sadness, guilt, and loss." It was a rocky foundation to build a future on. Elizabeth insisted that she and Nikolas were done; nothing would change that. Elizabeth clarified that she didn't want the trust fund. According to Elizabeth, as long as a Cassadine had touched it, the money was cursed. She didn't want any part of the money or Nikolas. Nikolas was hurt, but he left without further argument. Later, Lainey entered the room to inquire if Elizabeth was ready. After Elizabeth nodded her head, Lainey invited Nikolas and Lucky into the room. Lainey started the session by inviting Elizabeth to explain why Elizabeth seemed agitated. Elizabeth confessed that she thought that she had hit the bottom when Lucky had found out about the affair, but there was further for her to fall. Elizabeth realized that she would likely lose two very important people in her life. Elizabeth understood that it was what she deserved. Lainey wondered what had led to Elizabeth's affair with Nikolas. Elizabeth admitted that it had started out as a prank to make Lucky and Rebecca jealous. Nikolas had shown up at the hospital with flowers and then kissed Elizabeth while Lucky and Rebecca had been watching. However, the second kiss had been different. Elizabeth acknowledged that it had been a real kiss. Lucky's eyes filled with tears. Elizabeth knew that an affair with Nikolas had been dangerous and stupid, but she felt as if she had been on the outside looking in on her life. Lainey suggested that if Elizabeth's feelings for Lucky had been all good and Elizabeth's feelings for Nikolas had been all bad, then there wouldn't have been an affair. Lainey was curious if there was something that Elizabeth needed that she could only get from Nikolas. Lucky spoke up before Elizabeth could respond. Lucky acknowledged that he had kept Elizabeth frozen in time because he had never stopped seeing her as the young girl whom he had rescued in the park. Lucky believed that Nikolas was some sort of escape for Elizabeth. Elizabeth had known, on a subconscious level, that being with Nikolas would free her forever from Lucky. A short time later, Nikolas and Lucky left Elizabeth's room. Nikolas reminded Lucky that he had been very clear about what he wanted: Nikolas hoped that the baby was his and that Elizabeth would agree to marry him. However, Nikolas was curious what Lucky wanted. Lucky suspected that it wasn't what Nikolas expected. Lucky confessed that he wanted the same exact thing that Nikolas wanted; Lucky wanted Nikolas to be the father. In Elizabeth's room, Elizabeth talked to Lainey. Elizabeth insisted that she desperately wanted Lucky back. 3/15 Helen confronted the GH lab tech that was conducting the paternity test for Elizabeth's unborn child. He told her that the results would be ready in an hour. Steve came off the elevator and sent the tech back to work. When Steve told Helena not to interfere with the staff, she threw the weight of her family's money around. When Steve was not intimidated, she intimated that she knew secrets about Steve that would cause the board to rescind his job at GH. Helena was gleeful as she prepared to see the paternity results that had been delivered to her by the GH lab tech that she had paid off to give her an advanced look at the results. Elizabeth called Lucky to Shadybrook where she asked him to be honest with her. She wanted to know if he wanted her unborn child to be his. Lucky tried to hedge, but eventually told her that he did not want the child to be his. He told her that he did not want to be a couple with her and that it was time for both of them to move on. Elizabeth was tearful when he left. When Lucky arrived at Kelly's, Dante left the ladies and joined Lucky at another table. Dante told Lucky that Sonny had almost told him everything but Jason arrived and stopped him. Dante said that he was convinced that Michael had seen Sonny kill Claudia. He said that he could understand why Sonny would use Michael to save his own skin, but he did not understand why Carly would sacrifice Michael for Sonny. Lulu arrived and Lucky was called away on an assault case. Lucky saw Ethan in the lobby. Ethan told Lucky that he had brought Kristina to the hospital after finding her at the Lake house. Lucky noticed the scratch on Ethan's face, but Ethan told him that he did not want to talk about it and left the hospital. Nikolas met with Elizabeth who told him that Lucky preferred not to be the baby's father. She acknowledged that their relationship was over. Nikolas told her that he was sorry, and then told her that he had used his influence to get the paternity test results immediately. 3/16 At General Hospital, Helena held the results of the paternity test while she questioned the lab technician about any possibility of error. The lab tech assured Helena that the results were more than 99% accurate. Helena opened the envelope and then smiled with delight. The lab tech was surprised that Helena was happy that Lucky was the baby's father. Helena had hoped that the baby would be a Spencer. She ordered the tech to change the lab results to show that Nikolas was the baby's father. Helena intended to raise the baby as a Cassadine and teach it to hate all things Spencer. Helena anticipated Luke's family being undone by one of their own. Nikolas went to Shadybrook to visit Elizabeth while they waited for the paternity test results. Elizabeth confessed that she was afraid. Nikolas suspected that Elizabeth hoped that the baby would be Lucky's. Elizabeth insisted that she would love her baby no matter who the father was. Nikolas wanted Elizabeth to be honest about whom she hoped was the father of her unborn baby. Elizabeth clarified that it didn't matter since she intended to raise the baby on her own. Elizabeth appreciated that Lucky and Nikolas wanted to be a part of the baby's life, but she didn't expect either of them to help her raise the baby. Nikolas suggested that Elizabeth's life wouldn't change if Lucky turned out to be the father. Elizabeth acknowledged that it would be easier for everyone if Lucky were the father because Lucky was already raising Jake and Cameron. Elizabeth suspected that Nikolas still had hopes of sharing a life with her. Nikolas cut her off; he had promised not to pressure her about a relationship. Elizabeth jokingly wondered if he intended to wait until she had been discharged from the sanitarium. Nikolas grinned; it had been a while since he had seen her smile. Elizabeth was disappointed when she realized that Lucky hadn't called to check if the lab results were in. Seconds later, Nikolas' cell phone rang. It was the lab tech; he wanted Nikolas to know that the paternity test results wouldn't be ready until the following day. After Nikolas left, Elizabeth talked to her children on the phone. She was happy to hear that they had made green cookies for St. Patrick's Day. After she asked Cameron to save her one of the cookies, Steve got on the phone. Elizabeth thanked her brother for helping with the children. She promised to see him the next day when she picked up the results for the paternity test. After Elizabeth ended the call, Helena entered the room. Elizabeth ordered Helena to leave, but Helena ignored her. Helena claimed that she wanted to get to know Elizabeth better since it was likely that Nikolas was the baby's father. At the hospital, Lucky questioned Kristina about the attack. Kristina accused Ethan of the vicious assault that had left Kristina's face and bruised and swollen. Lucky was stunned; he asked if Kristina was certain. "Yes, it was Ethan," Kristina confirmed. Lucky didn't understand why Ethan would hurt Kristina. Lucky and Tracy entered the casino moments later. Lucky urged Sonny to put the gun down. Tracy demanded to know what was going on. Lucky revealed that Kristina had accused Ethan of attacking her. Ethan was shocked; he insisted that he hadn't harmed Kristina. Ethan pointed out that he had taken Kristina to the hospital. Sonny vowed that Ethan would pay for hurting Kristina. After Sonny stormed off, Ethan insisted that he hadn't laid a hand on Kristina. Ethan didn't know why Kristina had lied. Lucky advised Ethan to stop talking because Ethan was only incriminating himself further. Lucky and Ethan entered the squad room. Ethan insisted that he hadn't done anything wrong. Lucky quickly secured Ethan to a chair in an interrogation room and then asked to have a private word with Ronnie. Johnny slipped into the interrogation room to find out what was going on. Ethan explained that he had been falsely accused of attacking Kristina, but no one believed him. Ethan warned Johnny that Sonny was out for Ethan's blood. Johnny left the interrogation room before anyone discovered him. Lucky returned to talk to Ethan a short time later. Ethan pointed out that the person who had assaulted Kristina would have bruised hands, which Ethan didn't. Ethan wondered if Lucky had questioned any of the neighbors to see if anyone had witnessed the attack. Lucky assured Ethan that it would be looked into. Lucky advised Ethan to keep quiet until Ethan's lawyer arrived. Ethan wondered what he had to do to convince Lucky that Kristina had wrongly accused him. Lucky confessed that it didn't look good for Ethan. Ethan insisted that it wasn't in his nature to violently beat someone like that. Lucky couldn't understand why Kristina would make up such an outrageous lie. Lucky wanted to believe Ethan, but Lucky no longer trusted his own judgment. Lucky pointed to Nikolas' affair with Elizabeth as an example. Ethan was adamant that he would never commit such a "sickening crime." If Lucky didn't believe Ethan then Ethan wanted Lucky to leave him alone. 3/17 At the police station, Ethan confessed that Tracy was a sight for sore eyes. Lucky suggested that Ethan might be safer behind bars rather than on the streets. Lucky explained that Kristina had been brutally assaulted and then identified Ethan as her attacker. On top of that, people had seen the confrontation between Ethan and Kristina earlier that night. Lucky didn't blame Sonny for being furious. However, Lucky was concerned because Sonny had the capacity and resources to kill Ethan. Lucky clarified that Ethan would be safe in jail. Ethan was hurt that Lucky didn't believe Ethan's claims of innocence. Ethan decided to pass on Lucky's offer of protection. Nikolas entered the squad room while Lucky was on the phone. Lucky ordered the lab to rush the DNA test on the scrapings taken from under Kristina's fingernails. After Lucky disconnected the call, Nikolas explained that the paternity test results were due back within the hour. Nikolas had offered to take Elizabeth to the hospital to await the results. Nikolas thought that it would be a good idea for Lucky to join them. Lucky insisted that he was too busy. He asked Nikolas to call with the results. Nikolas was surprised that Lucky wanted Nikolas to call to let Lucky know Lucky was the father. "Call to let me know that you're the father," Lucky corrected his brother. Nikolas arrived at Shadybrook a short time later. Elizabeth confided that she was nervous. "Me too," Nikolas admitted. Nikolas hoped that they could get along and respect each other without it being mistaken for "something more." Elizabeth apologized to Nikolas. She realized that she had been hard on him. She knew that it was unfair. Nikolas acknowledged that they had both made mistakes. He thought that it was important for them to learn from the things they had done wrong and to avoid repeating them. Nikolas handed Elizabeth her jacket and then they left. Later, Nikolas and Elizabeth waited in the hospital's conference room for the test results to be delivered. Epiphany fetched the results and then offered to read them. "Okay, sure," Elizabeth responded. Epiphany reviewed the test and then assured them that the baby was healthy. Next, Epiphany announced that Nikolas was the father. Lucky hovered in the hallway; he appeared stunned when he heard the results of the paternity test. At Wyndemere, Helena instructed Alfred to prepare several rooms for occupancy in the east wing of the castle. Helena intended to move in. Helena ordered Alfred to do something with "those dreadful Gone with the Wind curtains" in the master suite. Helena also insisted on having the baby's nursery adjacent to her room. Alfred wondered if Nikolas was aware of Helena's plans. "He'll find out soon enough," Helena responded. Helena was certain that Nikolas would need her. She claimed that she had a strong suspicion that the baby was a Cassadine. Lucky informed Mr. and Mrs. Bauer that he had some questions for Kiefer. Lucky offered to wait if they wanted to call a criminal attorney. Mrs. Bauer assured Lucky that Kiefer would cooperate. Lucky turned to Kiefer to question him about the party. Kiefer explained that he had planned to meet Kristina, but that she had never shown up. Lucky asked Kiefer to start from the beginning. 3/18 In the conference room at General Hospital, Nikolas admitted that he wasn't surprised by the results of the paternity test; however, he could tell that Elizabeth was disappointed. Nikolas confessed that he had ordered an independent paternity test, so Lucky could still turn out to be the father. Elizabeth wondered why Nikolas had arranged for a second test. Nikolas admitted that precautions were necessary whenever Helena was involved. Elizabeth refused to put her life on hold. Elizabeth intended to move forward with her plans to raise her children as a single mother. Nikolas wondered where he fit in with her plans. Elizabeth confessed that she had accepted that she wouldn't share a life with Lucky after the truth about Jake had been revealed. She acknowledged that she had allowed herself to be drawn into a relationship that she and Lucky weren't ready for. She was determined not to repeat that mistake. Elizabeth wanted to work out a shared custody agreement; in time she hoped that they could be friends again. Later, at Shadybrook, Elizabeth quietly wept as she laid down on her bed. Nikolas wasn't surprised to discover that Helena was waiting for him when he returned to Wyndemere. Nikolas announced that he was the father of Elizabeth's baby. Helena was delighted, but curious how Nikolas and Elizabeth intended to proceed. Nikolas revealed that he would share custody of the baby. Helena was thrilled that Nikolas didn't plan to marry "that trollop." Nikolas suspected that Helena had already moved in. Helena gleefully confirmed that she would be residing in the east wing. She was eager to "rear the child as a true and proper Cassadine." Later, Nikolas adjusted Spencer's coat before they prepared to leave. Helena hovered nearby, smiling. Nikolas confessed that he had a surprise for Spencer. "A wonderful surprise," Helena added "Grammy Hela is moving in." "True," Nikolas reluctantly admitted before he confessed that the real surprise was that Spencer would be getting a new baby brother or sister. Spencer wondered if that meant that he was getting a mommy. "No Spencer, I'm sorry," Nikolas told his son. Spencer was curious if the baby would have a mommy. Helena beamed with pride; she thought Spencer's question indicated a competitive streak. Nikolas explained that Elizabeth would be the baby's mother. Helena assured Spencer that the baby would pick up the Cassadine torch. Nikolas glared at Helena and then quickly hustled Spencer out of the room. "And burn the Spencers to the ground," Helena finished with an evil smile. 3/22 Lucky visited Elizabeth in Shadybrook at her request. When she told him the result of the paternity test, he told her that he was outside the door when Epiphany gave her the results. Lucky reiterated that there was no chance of them getting back together, but he told Elizabeth that he would always be there to help her with Cam and Jake. After Lucky was gone, Nikolas took Spencer to Shadybrook to visit. Elizabeth explained about the new baby. When Spencer asked if Elizabeth and the baby would live at Windemere, Elizabeth told him that she would continue to live in her house with Cam and Jake, but that Spencer was welcome to visit and that his new brother or sister would visit Windemere and have a room there. Lucky found Ethan at the Haunted Star. Before arresting Ethan, Lucky chastised him for violating the restraining order. He told Ethan that he did not know if Ethan was guilty of hurting Kristina or just guilty of being stupid. Lucky went to the penthouse in response to a call from Jason. Lucky told Jason that Nikolas was the father of Elizabeth's baby. He also said that he would continue to care for Cam and Jake. Lucky said that he would not abandon the boys. Jason said that he trusted Lucky with his child, but that he had called about another matter. He told Lucky that there were inconsistencies in Kristina's story, and that he was not convinced that she was telling the truth. Jason told Lucky that despite what Sam and Kristina said, he believed that Ethan was telling the truth and the real perpetrator was still at large. 3/23 At the penthouse, Jason told Lucky that Kristina claimed that she had been attacked by Ethan during the time that Sam had confronted Ethan on the Haunted Star. Jason suspected that Kristina was too afraid to admit that she had made a mistake by identifying Ethan as her assailant. Lucky was curious if there was any other reason to suspect that Kristina might lie. Jason confided that Kristina had been the one to cause Claudia's car accident, not Alexis. Lucky didn't understand why Ethan would skip town if he were innocent of the assault. However, Lucky wanted to believe his brother. Jason and Lucky conceded that there was a possibility that Ethan had told the truth about the bruise on Kristina's arm, but they remained perplexed about why Kristina would lie. Lucky decided to do some checking; he promised to update Jason when he learned more. Lucky approached the nurses' station. Lucky wondered if Epiphany, Robin, and Patrick would answer some questions about the night of Kristina's attack. Lucky was curious how Ethan had behaved after Kristina had been admitted. Robin had been treating Maxie, so she hadn't seen Ethan. Epiphany claimed that Ethan had been "appropriately concerned" about Kristina's welfare. Patrick disagreed; he claimed that Ethan had appeared "restless" and "agitated." Patrick revealed that Ethan hadn't bothered to stick around to see how Kristina was. Patrick believed that Ethan had beaten Kristina and then taken her to the hospital out of remorse. Lucky showed up at the lake house to talk to Kristina about the attack. Kristina worried that Lucky was mad at her because she had accused Ethan of attacking her. Lucky assured Kristina that he admired her courage for speaking up despite the harrowing experience. However, he admitted that he had a few more questions. Kristina insisted that she had told Lucky everything. Lucky promised that he just wanted to make certain that her attacker faced justice. He gently prodded Kristina to talk about the attack. Eventually Kristina repeated her story, but she was careful not to mention Kiefer's name. Lucky wondered, "Who would do this to you, Kristina?" Kristina turned to Lucky with tears in her eyes. 3/24 Kiefer lurked outside of the lake house, spying on Lucky and Kristina. Inside, Lucky encouraged Kristina to talk about the attack. He wanted to know who had hurt her. "Why?" Kristina wondered. Lucky explained that he wanted to help her. Kristina suggested that it would help if the police backed off. Lucky explained that it was impossible because a violent crime had been committed. Kristina didn't want Ethan to go to trial; she just wanted it all to go away. Lucky promised that he would help Kristina in any way that he could. "I never should have said that it was Ethan," Kristina confessed. She quickly explained that everyone would know that she had gone to extremes to pursue Ethan. She begged Lucky to help her make it go away and then implored him to talk to her parents. Lucky assured Kristina that everything would be okay. Kiefer hid in the bushes until Lucky left. Lucky entered Luke's office on the Haunted Star. Lucky quickly updated his father about the paternity test. Lucky claimed to be relieved that he wasn't the baby's father. Luke was happy for Lucky. Lucky appreciated the support. The discussion then turned to Ethan. Lucky revealed that Kristina didn't want to press charges against Ethan. Luke was relieved, but he warned Lucky that Ethan had bigger problems: namely Sonny. Luke wondered how Ethan had behaved at the hospital following the attack. Lucky admitted that he had barely spoken to Ethan. Luke questioned if it were possible that Kristina had been mistaken about the identity of her attacker. Lucky conceded that she might have wrongly accused Ethan because there was a discrepancy about the timeline. Luke didn't doubt Ethan's innocence. "Why would you?" Lucky asked. Luke acknowledged that Ethan had been angry when Kristina had shown up at the casino and that Ethan had been a bit rough with her, but Luke insisted that Ethan had not beaten her. Lucky made it clear that he was determined to get to the bottom of things. 3/25 At Kelly's, Lucky joined Alexis and Dante at a table. Lucky was curious what Alexis expected him to do about Luke. Alexis was certain that Luke would make an attempt to help Ethan escape from jail because Luke had an "unflappable disdain for the law." It was a trait that Alexis believed Luke had passed down to Ethan. Lucky pointed out that he was Luke's son too. Dante took exception to Alexis' theory that people had a genetic propensity for criminal behavior. Alexis apologized; she attributed it to nerves because she was worried about Kristina. Lucky assured Alexis that, if Ethan were guilty, Lucky wanted him to go to jail. However, Lucky warned Alexis that Kristina might pose a problem because she was reluctant to testify against Ethan. Lucky entered the interrogation room at Ethan's request. Ethan admitted that he knew about the rape; he confessed that he had a new understanding of Lucky. Ethan imagined that it must have been difficult for Lucky to adjust after discovering that Luke wasn't the man that Lucky had thought Luke was. Lucky confided that it was probably a blessing that Ethan hadn't grown up with Luke because Ethan didn't have his "godlike" image of Luke blown apart as Lucky had. Lucky admitted that it had been hard at first, but Lucky eventually realized that it was not who Luke was. Luke was more than a sum total of that night, so he was still worthy of being loved. Luke walked in moments later. Lucky quickly excused himself. Alexis approached Lucky and Dante in the squad room. She informed them that she wanted to discuss the charges against Ethan. 3/26 At the police station, Luke and Ethan stood in the interrogation room while they watched Alexis talk to Lucky and Dante in the squad room. Luke noticed that Alexis seemed tense. Alexis informed Lucky and Dante that she had spoken to Dan Auerback, the prosecutor. Dan had decided to drop the charges against Ethan because Kristina didn't want to testify. Alexis clarified that Ethan was free to go. Dante decided to do the honors. Lucky entered the restaurant, he had dropped Jake and Cam off at daycare. Jason was curious how the boys were doing. Lucky admitted that they missed their mother. According to Lucky, the boys were attempting to wrap their heads around the idea that Uncle Nikolas was the new baby's father. Lucky conceded that it was probably for the best that he wasn't the baby's father. Jason wondered why Lucky had asked to see him. Lucky revealed that the charges against Ethan had been dropped. Lucky suggested that Sonny should hear it from Jason. Lucky also hoped that Jason might convince Sonny not to kill Ethan. Claire entered Pozzulos minutes later. She was surprised to see Jason and Lucky together. Lucky explained that he had dropped by to discuss Ethan's situation with Jason. 3/30 Steve went to Shadybrook to visit his sister. He found Elizabeth packing her things. She explained that she intended to go home to be with her children. Steve worried that it was too soon. Elizabeth assured him that she would continue with her therapy, but she was ready to get back to her life. Steve didn't think that Elizabeth was qualified to make that decision. He suggested that she consult the baby's father, since it would affect the baby's life as well as her own. Later, Nikolas entered Elizabeth's room. He admitted that he was glad that she had called him. Nikolas' joy turned to confusion when he noticed that her luggage was scattered about. Elizabeth explained that she planned to leave Shadybrook in the morning. Nikolas confessed that he didn't think that Elizabeth was ready. Elizabeth made it clear that she had checked herself in to the sanitarium, so she could check herself out. Nikolas reminded her that she had been standing on the ledge of the hospital's rooftop just a short month before . Nikolas suspected that Elizabeth was still grieving over the loss of her relationship with Lucky. Elizabeth argued that she was ready to move forward with her life. She believed in herself, even if no one else did. 3/31 Patrick went to Shadybrook to pick up Elizabeth. Elizabeth was curious where Steve was. Patrick explained that Steve had been in surgery all night, so Patrick had agreed to fetch Elizabeth while Steve picked up the boys. Elizabeth was eager to get home, so she quickly gathered her things and then followed Patrick out of the door. Later, Steve and the boys were waiting when Elizabeth arrived home. Cam and Jake ran into their mother's arms the instant that they saw her. Elizabeth hugged her children and then reassured them that she was feeling much better. Patrick and Steve shared a look, but didn't say anything. After Patrick left, Elizabeth urged Steve to go home to get some much-needed rest. Steve was concerned that Elizabeth might be overdoing it. He wanted her to ask for help if she needed it. Elizabeth appreciated his concern, but she insisted that it was time that she did things for herself. After Steve left, Elizabeth prepared to open an envelope with the results from the second paternity test. A knock at the door stopped her. It was Helena. Helena had dropped by to invite Elizabeth and the children to move to Wyndemere. Elizabeth couldn't believe that Helena was serious. Helena pointed out that Elizabeth was carrying the Cassadine heir. Elizabeth revealed that there was a chance that Lucky was the baby's father. She held up the envelope as she revealed that Nikolas had arranged for a second paternity test. Helena appeared shocked when Elizabeth offered to open the envelope to read the results. 4/1 At the Webber residence, Elizabeth revealed to Helena that Nikolas had arranged for a second paternity test. Helena hid her thoughts behind a serene smile as she invited Elizabeth to read the results of the second test. Nikolas entered the house seconds later. He immediately ordered Helena to get out. Helena refused to leave until she heard the test results, so Elizabeth opened the envelope. Nikolas noticed Elizabeth's crestfallen expression and correctly guessed that the results indicated that he was the father. Helena was supremely satisfied that the results proved that the baby was a Cassadine, so she left. Elizabeth wondered why Nikolas allowed Helena to remain in Port Charles. Nikolas explained that Helena was more dangerous when she was out of sight. Elizabeth wanted Nikolas to promise that Helena would not get near the baby. Nikolas assured Elizabeth that he would keep her and the baby safe. He understood that Elizabeth was disappointed that Lucky wasn't the baby's father. Elizabeth admitted that she had a strong feeling that Lucky would have turned out to be the father. She had thought that it was her last chance at being with Lucky and that it could make up for everything that she had done. Nikolas wondered what he could do to make things easier for Elizabeth. "Be a good father. Be present, available, and invested," Elizabeth answered. Nikolas vowed to do his best to honor her request. Nikolas knew that they couldn't be together as a couple, but he wanted them to be a family. At the hospital, Helena paid her lab technician a bonus for discovering that Nikolas had arranged for a second paternity test. Helena appreciated that the tech had changed the results to show that Nikolas was the baby's father, not Lucky. Lucky introduced himself to Maya. He was surprised to learn that Maya was Mary Mae Ward's great-granddaughter. Lucky confessed that he had known Mary Mae. Maya wondered why no one lived in the house that had once belonged to her great-grandmother. Lucky explained that his mother had moved to Europe and his father wasn't the "white picket fence" type. However, Lucky admitted that he had been the last occupant of the house. Maya was curious why Lucky had moved out. Lucky claimed that there had been too many ghosts. Maya confided that she felt her great-grandmother's spirit around the house. Lucky revealed that Laura had often said the same thing. Maya changed the subject. She wanted to know what Lucky's impression was of her great-grandfather, Edward. Lucky confessed that the more Edward loved a person, the less Edward could be trusted. Maya wasn't surprised by the information. Lucky's phone rang moments later. It was Dante. Dante believed that he had a lead on Kristina's attacker. Later, Lucky met Dante to discuss the possibility that Kiefer might have attacked Kristina. Dante believed that Kiefer had a huge chip on his shoulder. Lucky agreed. They realized that most abusers tended to be a product of abuse. Dante noted that the Bauers had a squeaky clean reputation. Lucky recalled that the Bauers had seemed unusually guarded during his interview with them following Kristina's attack. Dante was curious about Ethan's background. Lucky revealed that Ethan had talked highly of his adoptive parents, so Lucky didn't think that there had been any abuse. Lucky decided to question Kiefer's friends who had been at the party on the night of Kristina's attack. Dante offered to canvas Kristina's neighborhood to see if anyone recalled seeing anything out of the ordinary around the time of Kristina's assault. Later, Dante and Lucky met outside of Kelly's to compare notes. Lucky revealed that Kiefer's friend, Jordy, had confirmed that Kiefer had been furious when Kristina hadn't shown up for the party. According to Jordy, Kiefer had left the party early and never returned. Dante had talked to a neighbor who had seen a light-colored SUV speeding out of the Davis driveway at 9:30 p.m. on the night of the attack. Lucky insisted that Ethan had been on the Haunted Star at that time. Dante was curious what kind of car Kiefer drove. "A silver SUV," Lucky answered. Dante realized that their evidence wouldn't hold up in court, so he decided to call Kiefer. Kiefer arrived at Kelly's a short time later. Lucky and Dante immediately proceeded to question Kiefer about the night of Kristina's attack. Kiefer became defensive as he admitted that he had left the party to "blow off some steam." Kiefer insisted that he hadn't done anything wrong; Kristina had been the one who had "screwed up big time." Kiefer argued that it was on her, not him. Lucky wondered if Kiefer was suggesting that Kristina had deserved to be beaten. 4/2 At Kelly's, Lucky and Dante questioned Kiefer about the night of Kristina's attack. Lucky assumed the role of "bad cop" by accusing Kiefer of beating Kristina in a fit of rage because she had embarrassed him in front of all of Kiefer's friends. Dante pretended to be more understanding about the situation by suggesting that Kristina had pushed Kiefer too far. Kiefer played it cool; he insisted that he had stayed at the party until after 11:00 p.m. Lucky was curious where Kiefer went after the party. Kiefer claimed that he had gone to the lake house to talk to Kristina, but Molly had answered the door and then told him about Kristina's attack. Lucky didn't believe Kiefer; he accused Kiefer of arriving at the lake house much earlier, attacking Kristina, and then fleeing. Kiefer figured out what Lucky and Dante were up to. Dante dropped all pretense of friendliness; he warned Kiefer to stay away from Kristina until everything had been resolved. "Go to hell," Kiefer shot back before he stormed out of the diner. Lucky and Dante agreed that Kiefer had most likely attacked Kristina. They suspected that Kristina had lied to protect Kiefer from Sonny's wrath. Lucky realized that they were short on evidence, but they had certainly rattled Kiefer. Lucky was certain that Kiefer would scramble to cover his tracks. Dante vowed that he would not allow Kiefer to get away with what he had done to Kristina. Later, Lucky and Dante went to the Haunted Star to talk to Ethan. Ethan wasn't there, so they told Luke that they were close to solving the case. Dante was determined to make things right for Ethan and everyone else. Melinda and Warren Bauer (Kiefer’s parents) were dinning in the restaurant when Lucky and Dante approached their table. The Bauers didn't appreciate the detectives interrupting their dinner. Lucky explained that they were trying to put together a timeline of the events leading to Kristina's attack. Warren objected to the police harassing his son because of a "few misleading statements" made by an "unstable girl." Kiefer went to the lake house to talk to Kristina. He pushed his way passed Kristina when she revealed that she was home alone. Kiefer wanted Kristina's help. He demanded that she reinstate the charges against Ethan and then follow through with a trial. Kiefer felt that Kristina owed it to him. Kristina refused to lie to protect Kiefer; she insisted that it had been wrong of her to falsely accuse Ethan. Kiefer flew into a rage. He viciously beat Kristina. Afterwards, Kiefer stood over Kristina's body as he shouted, "This is all your fault. You made me do this!" Kiefer ran past Alexis as she stepped onto the porch. She raced into the house where she found her daughter on the floor. Kristina had been savagely beaten and was unresponsive. 4/5 Alexis arrived at the lake house as Kiefer was rushing out. Once inside, she found Kristina bleeding and barely conscious. Alexis understood immediately that Kiefer was responsible for the beating. Alexis helped Kristina to the car to take her to GH. Alexis was crying as she drove, but she assured Kristina that Kristina was not at fault. As Alexis drove, she had flashbacks of Kiefer running out of the house and Kristina lying battered on the floor. Kiefer suddenly appeared in the road ahead of Alexis. He put up his hands as a gesture for her to stop, but Alexis did not stop. She hit him with the car and Kiefer flew off the road. Alexis did not seem concerned and continued driving. Lucky and Dante drove out to the lake house for another interview with Kristina, who they believed would tell the truth if they interviewed her again. When they got there, the door was open, the house was empty, and there was blood on the floor. They immediately called for the crime scene investigation crew. Lucky tried to confirm Ethan's whereabouts, but could not reach him by phone. Lucky found Jason and told him that he had not been able to contact Ethan, but he was convinced that Ethan was not responsible for the beating that Kristina had suffered. Jason said that he had to have proof because Sonny had ordered Ethan's death. 4/6 At the Haunted Star, Jason insisted that Sonny wanted the situation with Ethan "resolved tonight." Lucky was curious what Jason knew about Kiefer. Jason was aware that there had been some problems between Kiefer, Michael, and Morgan and that Carly suspected that Kiefer had attacked Kristina. Lucky confided that it would have been helpful if Jason had mentioned it sooner. Lucky explained that Alexis' neighbor had seen a car, matching the description of Kiefer's car, speeding away from the lake house on the night of Kristina's attack in March. Lucky revealed that Kiefer had been "nervous and defensive" when he and Dante had questioned Kiefer at the diner. Moments later, Lucky's cell phone rang; it was Dante. Dante wanted Lucky to know that Kristina had identified Kiefer as the person who had attacked her. Jason immediately left for the hospital when Lucky shared the news with Jason. Lucky arrived at the hospital to talk to Dante about Kristina's statement regarding Kiefer. Lucky warned Dante that the Bauers would challenge Kristina's claim that Kiefer had attacked her. Dante confessed that he had felt a connection with Kristina while she had told him about the abuse. It humbled Dante to have a bond with two brothers and a sister after years of growing up as an only child. Dante wondered if Jason knew about the change in Kristina's story. Lucky confided that Jason had been with him when Dante had called. Lucky realized that Dante didn't like Jason, but Lucky pointed out that Ethan would have been dead if not for Jason. Lucky decided to call Ethan to let him know that Ethan had been cleared of the assault. Lucky decided to question Kiefer when he learned about Kiefer's accident. Kiefer became agitated when he found Lucky standing over him. Lucky tried to find out if Kiefer knew who had been driving the car, but Kiefer drifted in and out of consciousness. Warren and Melinda Bauer were livid when they entered their son's treatment bay to find Lucky interrogating Kiefer. Warren hauled Lucky away and then threatened to sue Lucky if anything happened to Kiefer. Later, Ethan and Luke were reviewing Ethan's options when Lucky arrived at the casino. Lucky revealed that he had been trying to reach Ethan to tell him that Kristina had confessed that Kiefer had been responsible for the assaults. Luke and Ethan were delighted until Lucky told them about Kiefer's hit-and-run. Lucky had noticed that the front bumper on Ethan's car had been damaged. |
