Jake's Death

Jonathan Returns #5 (Liz & Lucky & Siobhan) March 2-March 18, 2011: 8 hour original edit

DVD #5A 3/2 At the nurses' station, Elizabeth was surprised to see Lucky. She admitted that she had heard what had happened with Brenda and Sam. Lucky confirmed that Theo had been responsible for the explosion and Brenda's abduction. Elizabeth assured him that she would understand if he needed to reschedule his visitation with the boys on Thursday. Lucky insisted that he loved spending time with Cam and Jake, so he looked forward to it.

Elizabeth offered to show Lucky some new pictures that she had of the children. Lucky was eager to see them, so Elizabeth pulled them out and then began flipping through the photos. They were amazed at how much the children had grown. Elizabeth then mentioned that Monica had remarked how much Aiden looked like Lucky. Lucky studied a picture of Aiden as he acknowledged that Aiden had some of Laura's features. Lucky suspected that the traits had skipped a generation with Nikolas.

Lucky wrapped up a call on the cell phone as Jason approached him. Lucky updated Jason on the investigation. Jason was certain that Theo had Brenda stashed somewhere in town. Lucky admitted that Shawn had the same theory. Jason didn't trust Shawn, so Shawn's opinion didn't hold much weight with Jason. Lucky told Jason about the attempt on Shawn's life; however, Jason found the timing of the attack a bit too convenient.

A short time later, Nikolas bumped into Lucky on the pier. Lucky explained that he had been on his way to Wyndemere to question Nikolas and Brook about the explosion. Nikolas confessed that he had made an ass out of himself in front of Brook, so Nikolas wasn't eager to return to Wyndemere. Lucky offered to help Nikolas, so Nikolas reluctantly confided that he was drawn to Brook. However, Nikolas didn't feel comfortable pursuing anything with Brook because of what had happened with Lucky and Elizabeth. Lucky didn't see what one thing had to do with the other.

Nikolas explained that the last thing that he had wanted to do was ruin Elizabeth's life, but that was exactly what had happened when Nikolas had slept with her. Nikolas then admitted that Elizabeth had been throwing out signals that she wanted to try to make things work with him. Lucky wondered if Nikolas loved Elizabeth. "As a friend and the mother of my child," Nikolas clarified. Lucky was curious if that would be enough. He urged Nikolas to find a way to let go of the past and then move on, so that Nikolas could get out of his own way to be with Brook.

3/7 Lucky went to the Haunted Star to see Luke. He told his father about rescuing Megan from Theo's hooligans. He said that he was up to speed on the events in Port Charles and wanted to hear what had occurred from Luke's vantage point. Lucky said that Theo was spread thin and both the cops and the mob were after him. Lucky said it was time to find Theo while he was distracted.

Luke warned Lucky to keep an eye on Siobhan because she could still be in danger. Lucky said that the biggest danger was the U.S. Government, which wanted to deport her. He told Luke about his ruse to get her back in the country. Luke offered to fake a visa, but Lucky said that he preferred to use legal channels. Lucky said that they could always go for a green card marriage. Luke said that the couple would have to stay together for a while to be convincing. He asked if Lucky loved Siobhan. Lucky did not give a direct answer, but asked if Luke had loved Tracy the first time they had married. Siobhan opened Luke's office door and said that she had a letter about her visa. After Luke left Lucky and Siobhan alone, Siobhan opened the letter, which said that her application had been denied and she had to leave the U.S. by March 30 or face removal procedures.

3/8 At Lucky’s apartment, Siobhan expressed concern about being deported, but Lucky was confident that everything would work out. Siobhan lamented that she was out of options, so she expected to be sent back to Ireland. Lucky decided to call Alexis and Agent Bates for help, but they were unavailable, so he left them each a message. Siobhan doubted that Alexis or Agent Bates would be able to do anything for her. Lucky insisted that he had put his "ass on the line" for Interpol, so they owed him a favor. According to Lucky, Agent Bates could also confirm that Siobhan would be in danger if she returned to Ireland. Lucky was frustrated with Siobhan's attitude. Siobhan assured him that she was ready to fight, but she had no idea where to start. Lucky confessed that he had an idea, but he needed to take care of a few things before he could elaborate. He promised to return as soon as possible and then left.

Lucky approached Elizabeth at the nurses' station to let her know about Siobhan's immigration status and his plans to marry Siobhan if it became necessary. Elizabeth warned Lucky that he had a habit of riding to the rescue of damsels in distress. Elizabeth pointed to their own history as an example. Lucky had no idea what Elizabeth was talking about, so Elizabeth switched tactics. She reminded him that marrying someone to keep them from being deported was considered a fraud. Elizabeth warned Lucky that he could lose his badge. She went on to argue that Lucky had only known Siobhan for a short time and that he had been protecting Siobhan from a dangerous criminal, which was a heightened sense of reality. Lucky dismissed Elizabeth's concerns. He pointed out that his relationship with Elizabeth had failed despite the many years that they had known each other. Elizabeth wondered how Cameron and Jake fit into Lucky's plans.

Lucky seemed confused, so Elizabeth clarified that she wasn't comfortable with Siobhan being around the children. Lucky avoided the issue by suggesting that the marriage might not be necessary if Siobhan's appeal were granted. Lucky explained that he had simply wanted to let Elizabeth know what was going on before she heard about it from someone else. Elizabeth appreciated Lucky's consideration. After Lucky left, Elizabeth decided to submit the paperwork for a new paternity test for Aiden.

Lucky returned to his apartment where Siobhan was waiting with a home-cooked meal. She figured that it was the least that she could do before she had to return to Ireland. Lucky promised Siobhan that she wouldn't have to leave the country. He assured her that he wanted her to stay. Siobhan argued that it wasn't up to Lucky. Lucky reminded Siobhan that they had options that they had discussed on the plane. Siobhan claimed that they had only been talking in the abstract, but Lucky insisted that he wanted to marry her. "Are you sure?" Siobhan asked nervously. Lucky smiled as he replied, "It's a green card marriage. How much trouble could it cause?"

3/9 At Lucky's apartment, Lucky and Siobhan discussed the green card marriage. Siobhan didn't think that it would be fair to either of them to get married for the wrong reasons. Alexis stopped by a few minutes later to reveal that she had bad news for Siobhan. Alexis acknowledged that even though Theo had definitely had evil intentions, he had been correct about Siobhan's situation. Alexis explained that Siobhan's case to remain in the country was weak. Lucky was curious what would happen if he married Siobhan. Alexis warned Lucky that it would be an act of fraud. Lucky argued that he had been involved with Siobhan for a while and that many couples eloped after a short courtship. Alexis conceded that she had once had a quickie wedding in Las Vegas; however, the authorities might question the timing of Lucky and Siobhan's wedding.

Alexis explained that Lucky and Siobhan might have to face a review board to prove that their marriage was legitimate. Lucky didn't think that it would be a problem, but Siobhan appeared less confident. Siobhan wondered how long she would have to remain married to Lucky before she was safe from deportation. Alexis didn't have an opportunity to respond because Luke arrived with a solution to Siobhan's immigration woes. Luke produced some documents, including a passport in the name of Sarah McKenzie, that would allow Siobhan to remain in the country. Alexis cautioned Siobhan not to use the fraudulent papers.

Lucky insisted that marriage was Siobhan's best option, but she appeared to have some doubts. Lucky asked to speak privately to Siobhan, so Alexis and Luke left. Siobhan confessed that the documents were appealing because she would be the only one to face any consequences if something were to go wrong; however, if she married Lucky then Lucky might get into trouble too. Lucky argued that she was more likely to be caught with the false documents than if she were to marry him, so he urged her to reconsider. Eventually, Siobhan agreed to marry him.

3/16 At the hospital, Elizabeth was frustrated when she was told that the results of Aiden's paternity test wouldn't be available until Thursday. Lucky approached the nurses' station as Elizabeth ended the call. He was curious whom she had been ordering tests for. Elizabeth explained that it was for a critically ill patient, but Lucky cut her off because he realized that he hadn't had any right to ask. Lucky changed the subject by apologizing for having dropped the news about his wedding to Siobhan like a bomb. He admitted that she had every right to be concerned about how his marriage to Siobhan might affect the children.

Elizabeth assured Lucky that she knew that he would never purposefully hurt Cameron and Jake. Elizabeth assumed that was the end of the matter, so she asked if Lucky needed anything else. Lucky revealed that he had to cancel his "daddy night" with the boys. Elizabeth was disappointed because Cam and Jake had been looking forward to spending time with Lucky. Lucky revealed that he had an appointment with the justice of the peace to marry Siobhan. Elizabeth explained that she couldn't leave work and didn't have anyone to watch the boys.

Lucky suggested that perhaps Audrey might be available to watch the boys, but Elizabeth insisted that her grandmother had plans for the evening. Elizabeth's lack of cooperation frustrated Lucky, so he offered to take the boys with him to the wedding. Elizabeth made it clear that wasn't an option. Elizabeth's mood didn't improve when Siobhan arrived to pick up Lucky. Elizabeth begged Lucky to reconsider marrying Siobhan. Elizabeth reminded Lucky that the boys had been through enough upheaval, so she didn't want to subject them to a "sham of a marriage" between a stranger and their father.

Elizabeth insisted that the children needed stability, not a stepmother popping into their lives. Lucky argued that the boys were resilient and that they had never had a stable family from the beginning. He also insisted that Cam and Jake liked Siobhan. Elizabeth was disheartened because Lucky didn't seem to realize that he was "drop-kicking" his family. Lulu overheard the conversation as she passed by, so she demanded to know what gave Elizabeth the right to accuse Lucky of anything. Lulu was curious if Elizabeth had thought of Cam and Jake when she had been "screwing" Lucky's brother every chance she had.

Lucky and Siobhan arrived at the Haunted Star a short time later. Lucky apologized for putting Siobhan in an uncomfortable situation. Lucky conceded that he had known that Elizabeth would be upset, so he shouldn't have asked Siobhan to meet him at the hospital. Siobhan confessed that she had been surprised by Lulu's reaction; Lulu appeared to call things as she saw them. However, Siobhan assured Lucky that Lulu's rescue had been unnecessary because Siobhan was perfectly capable of holding her own against a "woman scorned." Lucky acknowledged that Elizabeth had a right to be concerned about how their marriage would impact the boys.

Siobhan reminded Lucky that they didn't have to go through with the wedding, but Lucky disagreed. Lucky assured Siobhan that Cam and Jake liked her, so he was certain that the boys wouldn't have a problem adjusting to her. Lucky explained that Elizabeth disapproved because Elizabeth was alone for the first time in her life and was frightened, so he was willing to cut Elizabeth some slack. Siobhan feared that Lucky might still have feelings for Elizabeth, but Lucky believed that living in the past was the surest way to waste one's life. Lucky promised that he didn't have any second thoughts about their marriage. However, in a perfect world, they would have taken things slower.

Lucky and Siobhan kissed just as Luke entered the casino and then headed straight to the bar to pour a drink. Lucky sensed that something was troubling his father. "Women are ruining my life," Luke complained. Lucky suspected that Luke and Tracy were squabbling again, but Luke revealed that Tracy would be a picnic compared to dealing with Carly and Alexis. Lucky announced that he had a way to refocus Luke's energies. Luke was stunned when Lucky asked his father to witness Lucky and Siobhan's wedding later that evening.

3/17 On the Haunted Star, Luke admitted that he liked Siobhan, but he feared that Lucky was making a mistake by getting married. Lucky invited Luke to elaborate about his objections to the wedding. Luke explained that everything seemed sudden and that he feared that Lucky was on the rebound. Lucky reminded Luke that he was marrying Siobhan to keep her in the country. Siobhan conceded that she had her own reservations about the wedding, but she wanted to remain in Port Charles, so couldn't turn down Lucky's generous offer. Lucky let Luke know that they would be at the office of the justice of the peace if Luke changed his mind about attending the wedding.

At the courthouse, Siobhan admitted that she had second thoughts about getting married because she feared that Lucky had unresolved feelings for Elizabeth. Lucky assured Siobhan that he and Elizabeth only shared the children, nothing more. Lucky reminded her that it had been his choice to marry her, but Siobhan argued that the government had forced his hand. Lucky insisted that what anyone thought shouldn't matter. Siobhan disagreed because she didn't think that he would try so hard to convince her otherwise.

Lucky promised that he didn't have any regrets or doubts about marrying Siobhan. Siobhan warned him that he couldn't change his mind once they were married. Lucky urged Siobhan not to overthink things because she needed to remain in the country, so that they could see where their relationship would lead them. Siobhan laughed at the idea of getting married in order to date. Lucky smiled as he admitted that it made perfect sense to him. Siobhan thought it was like putting the cart before the horse. Moments later, a woman emerged from an office to announce, "Next."

At the hospital, Elizabeth picked her children up from the daycare center after her shift was over. She was on her cell phone with the lab as Cameron repeatedly demanded pizza for dinner. Elizabeth let Cam know that they would discuss it after her phone call. Cam pouted as his mother resumed her conversation with the lab. Elizabeth was surprised to learn that the results of the paternity test had been delivered to her home.

At the elevators, Steve bumped into his sister and nephews. Jake raced into his uncle's waiting arms for a hug while Steve asked Cam what was wrong. "Nothing," Cam barked and then resumed his pouting. Elizabeth explained that Cam was protesting her parenting methods. Steve asked for a private word with Elizabeth, so Elizabeth put Cam in charge of his siblings. The boys remained in sight of Steve and Elizabeth as Steve questioned why Cam and Jake weren't with Lucky. Steve was surprised when Elizabeth revealed that Lucky was getting married. "Isn't that a little quick?" Steve wondered. Elizabeth explained that it was a green card marriage. Steve was curious how Elizabeth was holding up, because he knew that she had hopes of reconciling with Lucky one day. Elizabeth reminded Steve that it was a green card marriage, so she was confident that it wouldn't last.

Luke was in his car, racing to the courthouse, as he periodically glanced at his watch. Meanwhile, Robin was on the road with Lisa close behind her, honking the horn. In another car, Brenda thanked Sonny for fulfilling all of her dreams. Elsewhere on the road, Carly called Jax to check on Josslyn. Carly asked Jax to give Josslyn a kiss and then promised to meet him at the doctor's office as soon as possible. Finally, Sam was driving when an intense migraine hit and forced her to take her eyes off of the road.

3/18 At Elizabeth's house, Jake was playing with a truck at the bottom of the stairs as Elizabeth entered the living room. Elizabeth warned Jake to be careful and then called out to Cam to invite Cam to help her to make macaroni and cheese for dinner. Elizabeth then walked over to the table, where the envelope from the lab sat unopened. She decided to read the results and then tucked them back into the envelope as she looked around for Jake. Elizabeth called out Jake's name and then noticed that someone had opened the front door. Elizabeth immediately raced to the door. A second later, she stared in horror as she screamed, "Jake!" Elizabeth was terrified to see Jake's lifeless body lying in the street.

Lucky assured Siobhan that he was committed to marrying her so she could stay in the country. Siobhan gave him every chance to back out. Lucky kept prodding her until she reluctantly agreed. Luke burst into the justice of the peace's office. He apologized for not being supportive earlier but said that he'd had a change of heart and wanted to witness their nuptials. The couple agreed, and the justice began the ceremony. Before they had a chance to make their vows, Lucky got a phone call from Elizabeth who told him that Jake had been rushed to the emergency room after he'd been hit by a car. Lucky, who let Jason know that Jake had been hit by a car. Jason and Michael rushed to the hospital.

Lucky, Siobhan, and Luke were the first to arrive at the hospital to meet with Elizabeth, who apologized for having let Jake out of her sight. Jason and Michael showed up moments later and approached Robin. She broke the news that Jake was in critical condition. Steve let Jason know he was aware that Jason was Jake's father. Steve asked Jason, for Elizabeth's sake, that Jason make himself scarce. Jason tried to keep his composure as he left Sam a voicemail. Afterward, he sat, alone, fidgeting with his phone, visibly upset.

While Lucky comforted Elizabeth, Luke asked Siobhan to be there to support Lucky. Elizabeth berated herself for having been so careless, but Lucky assured her that it wasn't her fault. Steve let them know that Patrick would perform the surgery and that Robin would assist. Steve led Elizabeth away to get her tea. Siobhan sat down next to Lucky, and he explained that it had been his night to take the boys. Siobhan urged him not to beat himself up. She promised to stay by his side throughout the ordeal. Steve and Elizabeth returned and, with Lucky, approached Patrick as he headed to the operating room. Elizabeth pleaded to see Jake before surgery, but Patrick said there wasn't enough time.

3/21 At the hospital, Carly gently stroked Josslyn's back as she promised her daughter that everything would be fine. Terrell entered the room moments later. Carly told Terrell that Josslyn's fever had gone down. Terrell was pleased to hear it, but he asked to speak to Jax and Carly privately. Michael watched over Josslyn as Jax and Carly followed Terrell out of the room. In the hallway, Terrell broke the news to the worried parents that the tests had confirmed that Josslyn had cancer.

Terrell revealed that they had found tumors in both of Josslyn's kidneys. Carly wondered what would happen next. Terrell recommended that Josslyn receive chemotherapy to reduce the tumors. Jax immediately objected to the idea of Josslyn receiving poisonous chemicals, so he demanded to know if there were alternatives to chemotherapy. Terrell explained that Josslyn could live without one kidney but not both. Jax was curious if they could find a new kidney for Josslyn. Terrell acknowledged that it would be an ideal situation, but there were inherent risks, including organ rejection. Terrell also revealed that organs for someone Josslyn's age were very rare and that there was a long waiting list.

Michael found Carly making a phone call. Carly admitted that she had called Jason because he gave her strength, so she needed him at her side. Michael reluctantly revealed that Jason couldn't be there, but Carly argued that Josslyn's situation was far more important than finding Theo. Michael explained that Jason was already at the hospital because "Jake Webber" had been badly hurt.

Siobhan watched from the hallway as Lucky comforted Elizabeth in a private waiting room. "It's all my fault," Elizabeth cried. Lucky fought back tears as he reminded Elizabeth that it had been his night to take the boys. Elizabeth didn't understand why she hadn't heard anything. Lucky insisted that they had to believe that Jake would be okay. He assured Elizabeth that God was with their son, so Jake would make it. Elizabeth remained distraught over their son's fight for his life, so Lucky reminded her of all the times that Jake had shown them that he was a fighter.

Lucky recalled how surprised they had been to find Jake teaching himself how to swim. Lucky chuckled as he recounted the time that Jake had watched motorcross on television and then had taken his tricycle to the back porch to ride it off of a step. Lucky remembered how terrified he and Elizabeth had been when Jake had flown over the handlebars. Elizabeth recalled that Jake had told her, "That was so cool, Mom."

Elizabeth dissolved into tears as she agreed that Jake was a fighter. Lucky insisted, "You are such a good mother to him." He promised Elizabeth that Jake would pull through. Steve entered the room moments later. Lucky and Elizabeth were eager to know if there had been any word on Jake. Steve gently explained that, given Jake's injuries, the surgery could take awhile. Lucky decided to give Elizabeth and Steve some privacy, so he left the waiting room. Elizabeth admitted that she didn't even know the extent of Jake's injuries because Patrick hadn't gone into detail before the surgery. Steve explained that there hadn't been time. Elizabeth was desperate for an update, so Steve decided to ask a nurse to check on the surgery.

Steve returned to his sister's side to let her know that Patrick was focusing on Jake's head trauma before addressing the other injuries. Steve promised Elizabeth that they were doing everything possible to save Jake's life. Elizabeth clutched Jake's little jacket to her face as she deeply breathed in her son's scent. Steve suddenly realized that he had given the same assurances to countless families in similar situations. Steve was shaken by how little those words had helped. He vowed to be a better doctor in the future by showing genuine empathy to the families of patients facing a crisis. Elizabeth smiled weakly as she thanked her brother for bargaining with God.

In the hallway, Lucky told Siobhan that his son was fighting for his life. Siobhan urged Lucky not to give up hope. Moments later, Nikolas arrived. Nikolas had heard about the accident, but he offered to leave if Lucky didn't want him to be there. Lucky appreciated the offer, but declined. Lucky confessed that he wanted to reassure Elizabeth that everything would be fine, but Lucky didn't know if Jake would be okay.

Dante and Lulu arrived a short time later. Lulu quickly embraced Lucky. Afterwards, Lucky told them that Jake was in surgery. Dante revealed that he had been at the scene of the accident. According to Dante, there hadn't been any tire marks, so it appeared that the person responsible for the hit-and-run had kept driving. Nikolas couldn't understand what kind of person would leave an injured child abandoned in the street.

Dante suggested that perhaps the person hadn't realized that they had struck a child. Dante revealed that they would be able to find the driver because traffic cameras would have recorded the cars that had been in that area around the time of the accident. Dante explained that he would need to talk to Elizabeth to find out what time the hit-and-run had occurred. Dante started to head to the waiting room, but Lucky stopped him. Lucky didn't think that it was the time to talk to Elizabeth about the accident because she was going through hell.

Jason stood in the observation room as he watched Patrick and Robin valiantly try to save his son's life. Tears filled Jason's eyes as Robin warned Patrick that Jake was hemorrhaging. Jake's condition rapidly declined as Patrick desperately worked to stabilize the toddler. Meanwhile, Sam silently slipped into the observation room and then took Jason's hand in hers. Jason squeezed her hand as he continued to watch the doctors operate on Jake. Robin glanced up at the observation room to see Jason praying for his son. A short time later, Robin noticed that Jake's brain activity had ceased. Patrick realized that Jake was beyond saving, so he decided to close him up. Robin looked at Jason and then softly shook her head to let Jason know that Jake hadn't survived his injuries.

Sam approached everyone gathered in the waiting area let them know that Jason was in the observation room, watching Jake's surgery. Sam decided that she could best help by finding the driver responsible for Jake's hit-and-run. Dante reminded Lucky that time was of the essence, so Lucky decided to question Elizabeth about the accident. Lucky returned a short time later to reveal that Jake had been hit between 8:00 p.m. and 8:05 p.m. because Elizabeth's cell phone had showed that she had called 9-1-1 at 8:06 p.m.

According to Lucky, Elizabeth had found Jake lying in the street by her front yard, but she hadn't seen a car. Lucky surmised that the car had been southbound on Lexington at the time of the hit-and-run. Lucky grew silent when he spotted Jason walking towards him. A hush fell over the area as Lucky slowly approached a grief-stricken Jason. Jason answered the question in Lucky's tear-filled eyes by softly shaking his head and then quietly confirming, "He's gone." Lucky dropped his head as he wept over the loss of his son. Meanwhile, friends and loved ones began to cry as they realized that Jake had lost his battle for life.

After several minutes, Lucky silently pulled himself together and then returned to the waiting room to break the news to Elizabeth. Sam walked up to Jason and then wrapped her arms around him as he cried over the loss of his son. Nikolas approached Steve at the nurses' station to find out where Aiden and Cameron were. Steve explained that a neighbor had the boys, so Nikolas decided to pick them up and then take Cam and Aiden to Wyndemere.

Elizabeth looked up when Lucky entered the room. She immediately realized that her worst fears had been realized when she saw the pain on Lucky's face. Elizabeth wept inconsolably as Lucky told her that Jake had succumbed to his injuries. Jason stood in the hallway, watching as Lucky tried to comfort Elizabeth. Robin walked up moments later to talk to Jason. Robin told Jason how sorry she was for his loss and then assured him that they had done all that they could for Jake.

Jason wondered what happened next. Robin explained that Jake had been put on life support, so it would be up to Jake's parents to decide when to turn off the machines. Jason looked back into the waiting room to see Lucky gently rocking Elizabeth as she cried. Later, Patrick and Robin entered the waiting room to talk to Lucky and Elizabeth about Jake. Patrick revealed that Jake had suffered a "catastrophic head injury".

Patrick started to go into detail about Jake's injuries, but Robin silently stopped him by gently putting her hand on his back. Robin assured Lucky and Elizabeth that they couldn't have done anything for Jake because his injuries had been too extensive. Patrick apologized for failing Lucky and Elizabeth, but they were too bereaved to hear it. Lucky wanted to see Jake, so Robin explained that Jake was on life support. Lucky and Elizabeth seemed surprised by the news.

Patrick revealed that it would be up to Lucky and Elizabeth when to take Jake off of the machines. In the hallway, Carly approached the waiting room as Patrick broached the subject of organ donation. Carly covered her mouth as she realized that Jake had died. She quietly walked away as Patrick reminded Lucky and Elizabeth that Jake could save the lives of many children. Lucky stepped out of the waiting room to ask Steve to stay with Elizabeth.

Lucky warned Steve that Patrick and Elizabeth were discussing donating Jake's organs. Lucky wanted to know where Jake was, so Steve sent Lucky to room 1050. Siobhan was immediately at Lucky's side. Lucky took her hand and then walked to Jake's room. However, he hesitated to enter once they arrived at the room. Siobhan dropped Lucky's hand as she explained, "You need to do this on your own." Lucky braced himself and then started to open the door. He stopped and then turned to Siobhan as he confessed that he couldn't see his son like that. Lucky reached for Siobhan and then hugged her as he gave in to the anguish over losing Jake.

In the waiting room, Elizabeth hugged her brother and then began to reminisce about Jake. Elizabeth recalled how beautiful Jake had been the first time that she had laid eyes on him; she had felt blessed to be his mother. "This should never have happened," Elizabeth sobbed as Steve tried to comfort her.

Carly found Jason on the hospital's rooftop, lost in memories of the time that he had spent with Jake, playing with a toy motorcycle, following the bus crash. Jason realized that Carly knew about Jake's passing by the expression on her face. Carly offered him her condolences and then explained how she had learned about the tragedy. Jason confessed that he knew exactly the number of times that he had held Jake. "It was eight," he told her. Carly knew how much Jason had loved Jake. "I just wish there were more time," Carly tearfully confessed. Jason wondered what she had meant by that. Carly revealed that she had been at the hospital because Josslyn had been diagnosed with cancer and desperately needed a kidney transplant. "Your son could save my daughter," Carly admitted.

3/22 On the hospital's rooftop, Carly tearfully apologized for adding to Jason's grief by asking him for Jake's kidney. However, she insisted that Josslyn's life was on the line. Jason said little as Carly explained that a donor kidney was Josslyn's best possible option, but there was a long waiting list, so Jake was Josslyn's only hope. Carly continued to stress how dire Josslyn's situation was. According to Carly, if they didn't find a donor immediately then Josslyn would have to begin chemotherapy. Jason pointed out that Jake and Josslyn might not even be a match.

Carly realized that they had to run tests, but she pleaded with Jason to help her. She acknowledged that she hadn't given him any time to grieve, but she insisted that Josslyn didn't have any time to spare. Carly explained that the cancer was in both kidneys and that the doctors intended to start pumping "poison" into Josslyn's body. Carly recognized that she was handling the situation all wrong, but she didn't know what else to do. Jason assured Carly that it was okay; however, he warned her that it wasn't up to him. Jason promised to talk to Elizabeth about donating Jake's kidney to Josslyn. Carly immediately threw herself into Jason's arms to thank him for helping her.

Later, Jason approached Steve at the nurses' station to find out where Elizabeth was. Steve offered Jason his condolences and then revealed that Elizabeth was with Jake. Steve explained that Elizabeth and Lucky were considering organ donation, but they had wanted to see Jake first. Jason told Steve about Josslyn's situation and her need for a kidney transplant. Steve agreed that Jake would be an excellent donor. However, Steve reminded Jason that they would have to run tests to see if Jake and Josslyn were a match. Jason was curious how soon they could do that. Steve assured Jason that he knew that time was of the essence because the sooner the cancer was out of Josslyn's body the better.

Carly entered the waiting area to announce that they had found a donor, so she wondered if Terrell could do the transplant immediately. Everyone was full of questions, so Carly explained that Jake Webber had been killed in a hit-and-run accident. Carly explained that Jake's father had agreed to the transplant. Jax and Alexis were shocked by the tragic news, but Jax gave his consent for Terrell to operate.

Lucky stood outside of Jake's hospital room, tightly holding Siobhan, as he tearfully confessed that he didn't want his last memory of Jake to be of Jake hooked up to machines. Lucky tried to pull himself together as Siobhan advised Lucky to focus on saying what he needed to say to Jake. Lucky was about to enter the room when Elizabeth softly called out to him. Elizabeth wondered if Lucky had seen Jake. Siobhan quietly excused herself to give Lucky and Elizabeth some privacy.

Lucky confessed that he wasn't ready to see Jake. Elizabeth admitted that she kept expecting to see Jake appear from around a corner. Lucky confided that he felt the same way. Elizabeth reminded Lucky that there wasn't a rush for them to see Jake, so she suggested that they continue to talk. Lucky welled up with tears as he gently reminded her that the machines were the only thing keeping Jake alive. Elizabeth tearfully admitted that she knew that, but she wasn't ready to let Jake go.

Later, Elizabeth was on the verge of entering Jake's room when Jason approached her. Elizabeth's eyes filled with sadness as she wondered how long he had been at the hospital. Jason revealed that he had been there the entire time, but he had kept his distance because he didn't want to complicate things for her. Elizabeth began to cry as she apologized to Jason. "For what?" Jason asked.

Elizabeth explained that Jake has slipped out the front door while she had been distracted. Jason quickly assured her that she was not to blame and that it could have happened to anyone. Jason insisted that Elizabeth was a wonderful mother. Elizabeth tearfully disagreed, but Jason was adamant that she had given Jake the best life that Jake could have had. Jason looked around and then wondered where Lucky was. Elizabeth assured Jason that Lucky would return shortly because they hadn't seen Jake yet.

Jason told Elizabeth that Josslyn had been diagnosed with cancer and needed a kidney transplant, but the list was too long. Elizabeth was curious what Jason was getting at. Jason explained that Steve had revealed that Elizabeth and Lucky were considering donating Jake's organs. Jason avoided eye contact with Elizabeth as he clarified that she and Lucky could save Josslyn's life by agreeing to donate Jake's kidney. Elizabeth soundly slapped Jason across the face as she accused him of being a "selfish bastard." Elizabeth reminded Jason that it had been his choice not to parent Jake, just as it had been his choice not to be with her.

Elizabeth accused him of walking away and never looking back, so she and Lucky had raised Jake. Elizabeth insisted that she and Lucky were the ones who had been left with a hole in their lives, not Jason, because Jason hadn't known Jake. Jason tried to defend his decision, but Elizabeth cut him off. She refused to allow Jason to use her son for "spare parts." Jason looked shaken as Elizabeth stormed off. He slowly walked to the door of Jake's hospital room and then became choked up when he saw Jake.

Lucky wondered where Elizabeth was when he approached Jason moments later. Jason explained that she had left because he had upset her. Lucky reminded Jason that Elizabeth was grieving, but Jason clarified that Elizabeth hadn't been ready to hear what Jason had to say. Jason quickly filled Lucky in on Josslyn's cancer diagnosis and her need for a kidney transplant. Lucky wondered if Elizabeth had refused to give her consent. Jason revealed that Elizabeth had told him that it wasn't his choice because Jason had never been a father to Jake.

"Well, you made that choice," Lucky reminded Jason. Lucky knew that Jason had done it out of love for Jake. Lucky thanked Jason for giving Lucky the opportunity to have so much joy in his life by being Jake's father. Jason thought that they could make Jake's life mean something by allowing Jake to save Josslyn.

Later, Lucky found Elizabeth standing outside of Jake's hospital room. Lucky admitted that he knew about Jason's request. "He had no right," Elizabeth argued. Elizabeth made it clear that she would not allow her baby to be cut open. She insisted that when they decided to let Jake go, he would be in one piece. Elizabeth turned her back on Lucky to stare at Jake through the window. Lucky gently reminded her that Jake was gone.

"Waiting won't bring him back," Lucky added. Elizabeth cried that she wasn't ready to say goodbye to their son. Lucky wanted something good to happen. He insisted that Jake could help more than one gravely ill child whose parents were praying for a miracle. "What about our miracle?" Elizabeth demanded. "I don't know," Lucky whispered; however, he wanted to be able to save other children, since they couldn't save Jake.

Nikolas went to the Haunted Star to persuade Luke to go to the hospital to be with Lucky. Luke nursed a drink as he stubbornly insisted that Lucky knew where to find him. Nikolas thought that it was time for Luke to step up and be a father for Lucky's sake. Luke reminded Nikolas that Lucky could always call if he needed his father. Nikolas argued that perhaps, just once in Luke's life, Luke should be there for Lucky before Lucky had to ask.

Jason warned Carly that Elizabeth didn't want to donate Jake's organs. Carly became upset as she insisted that Josslyn was out of time. Jason explained that Elizabeth wasn't ready because she was grieving. Carly realized that she wasn't Elizabeth favorite person, but she was desperate to make Elizabeth understand Josslyn's situation. "I understand," Elizabeth said from the doorway as she clutched Jake's little jacket to her chest, while Lucky stood by Elizabeth's side. Elizabeth revealed that she and Lucky had signed the paperwork consenting to donate one of Jake's kidneys to Josslyn. Carly thanked Elizabeth and Lucky for saving her daughter's life as Elizabeth and Lucky fought back tears of pain. Later, Josslyn's loved ones gathered as Josslyn was taken to surgery.

Jason stood in the hallway as Josslyn was wheeled out of her hospital room. Carly mouthed, "Thank you," when she saw Jason.

Lucky went to the Haunted Star to see his father. Luke offered to get Lucky a coffee, which made Lucky wonder if perhaps Luke was concerned that Lucky might use Jake as an excuse to "fly off into oblivion" again. Luke insisted that booze wouldn't help. Lucky confessed that there had been something special about Jake; he had been absolutely fearless like Lucky. Luke didn't think that anyone could recover from the pain of losing a child so brutally and unnecessarily. Luke warned Lucky that Lucky would have to live with for the rest of his life.

Lucky knew that Luke had concerns about Lucky's decision to raise Jake because Luke had feared that Elizabeth might one day take the boys away from Lucky. Luke praised Lucky for being a good man. Luke had always admired Lucky's capacity to love, which had enriched Lucky's life in ways that Luke's life could never be. Luke was proud that Lucky had taken on Cameron and Jake when Lucky could have easily turned his back on the boys. Lucky credited Luke for making fatherhood look like fun; it had inspired Lucky. Lucky tearfully confessed that he had never known that it was possible to love anyone as much as Lucky loved Cam and Jake. Lucky began to weep as Luke held his son.

Jason went to Elizabeth's house. He knocked on the door, but no one answered. Jason pulled out a key and then let himself in. Jason stepped on Jake's little toy motorcycle as he entered. Jason picked up the toy, sat down on the bottom step of the staircase, and then dissolved into tears.

3/23 Luke stood on Elizabeth's porch, holding one of Jake's toys that had been left discarded by the toddler. He stared at it for a long moment and then quietly knocked on the door. Elizabeth invited Luke inside and then offered him some coffee. Luke assured Elizabeth that she didn't have to play hostess unless it helped her. "Nothing helps," Elizabeth softly admitted as she took the toy from Luke and then gently set it on the fireplace mantel. Luke began to talk about how people sent flowers and gifts when someone passed away because they wanted to help during a difficult time.

Luke immediately apologized when he realized that he might have made Elizabeth feel worse. Elizabeth suspected that Luke understood exactly how she felt. Luke acknowledged that what had happened to Jake had been terrible and wrong; he knew that no one could ever be prepared for that kind of tragedy. Elizabeth's eyes filled with tears as she joined him on the sofa. She confided that she hadn't felt pain like that since the night that she had been told that Lucky had perished in a fire. However, Lucky had eventually returned to her.

Elizabeth knew that she wouldn't get another miracle. She tearfully confessed that Jake had died because she hadn't been paying attention. Luke insisted that Jake had been in the wrong place at the wrong time. Elizabeth had no idea how she would be able to walk up her driveway again without seeing the place in the road where she had found Jake lying so still. Luke insisted that she needed to remember that she had two other little ones depending on her. Luke blamed Jake's death on the driver of the car that had struck the toddler.

Afterwards, Luke went to the Haunted Star. He was deep in thought when Lulu entered the casino. Lulu was curious if anyone had been by to see her father. Luke explained that he had gone to see Elizabeth, so he had no idea if anyone had stopped by while he had been gone. Luke revealed that Elizabeth blamed herself for the tragedy, but Lulu argued that it had been an accident. Luke's thoughts drifted as he recalled that Lucky had been Jake's age when Luke had taught Lucky how to play poker.

Lulu continued to probe her father about possible visitors. Luke was curious why she kept asking, so Lulu told him about the list of suspects who had been on Lexington around the time of Jake's hit-and-run. Luke grumbled that Lexington was the worst street in town because it had numerous potholes. According to Luke, no one would use it if it weren't a shortcut through town. Lulu decided to let her father know that Luke and Carly had been among the drivers on the suspect list. Luke admitted that he had been on Lexington when he had gone to the justice of the peace to attend Lucky's wedding. However, Luke insisted that he hadn't seen any other cars on Lexington. "God, I hope it isn't Caroline," Luke said.

Lulu agreed that it would be awful because Jason and Carly were best friends. Lulu couldn't imagine how Jason and Carly could get past it if Carly had been responsible for Jake's death. Lulu had no idea how someone forgave a person for killing their child, even if it were an accident. Luke assumed that there were others on the list. Lulu confirmed his suspicions by sharing the identities of the other drivers, including Lisa Niles.

Lulu confessed that Lisa was a likely suspect because Lisa had done some terrible things. Luke suddenly remembered that Lucky had gotten a royal flush when Luke had taught Lucky to play poker. Luke explained that it had been an incredibly lucky hand. Lulu realized that she probably shouldn't have told Luke about the list, but Luke assured his daughter that she needn't worry because everyone would eventually know that they were on the list.

3/24 In Josslyn's hospital room, Carly couldn't believe that Luke had suggested that she might have killed Jake. She insisted that it was impossible. Luke explained that the police had compiled a list of suspects from the traffic camera on Lexington. Carly was filled with horror as she realized that she had been driving on Lexington and that she had been distracted because she had been worried about Josslyn. She was dismayed by the possibility that she might have killed Jason's little boy.

Carly was distraught by the idea that she could have killed a child, so Luke reminded her that they didn't know anything for certain. Dante arrived moments later and immediately realized that Carly and Luke were aware that they were suspects in Jake's hit-and-run. Carly was shocked; she demanded to know why Luke hadn't told her that he was also a suspect. Luke assured her that he hadn't killed Jake. Dante reminded them that the police could easily clear up the matter by checking their cars. Carly wanted to know the truth as soon as possible, so she revealed that her car had been parked in the hospital's parking garage since she had arrived at the hospital the night before.

At the Webber home, Olivia offered Elizabeth her condolences and then invited Elizabeth to call upon her if Elizabeth needed anything. Elizabeth knew that Olivia worked for Jax, so she asked Olivia to let Jax know that she was glad that Josslyn was doing well. Olivia promised to pass the message along and then left. Elizabeth revealed to Steve that she had dreamed of Jake standing in the front yard, calling to her. Elizabeth confessed that for a second she had thought the previous night had been a terrible nightmare and that Jake had still been alive.

Steve wrapped his arms around his sister as she gave way to tears. Elizabeth decided that she needed to do something with Jake's room because she couldn't stand to enter it as it was. Steve urged her to give it some time, but Elizabeth argued that time was different for her because her baby had died in an instant, but every second since that moment had seemed like an eternity. Steve realized that the pain would never leave Elizabeth, but he thought that she would eventually begin to feel normal again. Elizabeth disagreed because her arms would always ache for her baby.

Nikolas entered moments later. Cameron immediately ran into his mother's arms. Elizabeth swept up Cam and then hugged him fiercely while Nikolas tried to soothe Aiden. Elizabeth took Aiden from Nikolas and then settled on the sofa with her children. Steve decided to check in with the hospital while Nikolas was there, so he snatched up his keys and then left. Nikolas told Elizabeth that Cam had ridden the pony earlier that day. Cam was curious if Jake could ride the pony when he returned from heaven.

DVD #5BNikolas checked in with Lulu, who let him know that Lucky had become volatile after hearing that Carly might have hit Jake. Lulu felt horrible that she'd treated Elizabeth so poorly after Elizabeth's affair with Nikolas went public. Lulu realized that she'd blown up at Elizabeth the night Jake had been hit. Nikolas suggested that Elizabeth would likely appreciate Lulu's support and that they might be able to forgive one another.

At the Haunted Star, Lulu and Luke hoped that Carly hadn't had anything to do with the hit-and-run that was responsible for Jake's death. Lucky arrived and seemed dazed. Luke broke the news that Carly was on the list of suspects. Lulu tried to downplay the odds that Carly was involved, but Lucky convinced himself that it had been her. Lucky seethed with enmity toward his cousin and stated that Carly was selfish and never took responsibility for her actions.

Luke admonished Lucky not to jump to conclusions and suggested that Lucky wasn't angry with Carly but at God. Lucky denied Luke's assertion and put the blame squarely on Carly. Luke admitted that he'd tipped off Carly about her being one of the suspects. Lucky exploded with anger. "You have no idea what this is like," he accused. Emotionally, Luke reminded his son that he knew exactly what it was like; he'd felt the same way when he and Laura thought Lucky had been killed, years before.

Lucky returned to the police station, where Dante reluctantly shared the DNA results with him. Taken aback, Lucky said that he had to handle the case. Dante worried aloud that it was too personal for Lucky, but Lucky took off.

Nikolas took Elizabeth's boys back to her house. Elizabeth thanked him for pitching in and vowed to be strong for Cameron and Aiden. Nikolas offered any assistance he or his staff could provide. They reminisced about the old days, when the two of them, as well as Lucky and Emily, constituted Port Charles's "four musketeers."

Elizabeth mentioned that Steven was going to move in to help out. She worried that she wouldn't find the right words to tell Cameron that his brother would never return home. Nikolas told her about watching Cameron and Spencer play together. Nikolas laughed that, with all of Spencer's expensive toys, Spencer had the most fun building forts out of pillows and cushions with Cameron. Nikolas promised he'd see to it that the boys got to spend more time together.

Later, as Elizabeth contemplated opening Aiden's paternity results, Jason knocked on the door. She invited him in. He returned one of Jake's toys. Jason had been at the house after the accident and had taken it, but he said that he'd had no right. He apologized for all the ways he'd hurt Elizabeth throughout the years, but she apologized for having accused Jason of abandoning his son. She said she was sorry he'd never had a chance to really get to know Jake. Jason told her he understood why and asked her not to feel guilty for any of the decisions she'd made to protect their son. Dante called and demanded Jason go to the police station right away. After Jason departed, Lulu knocked on the door. Elizabeth was speechless to find Lulu on the doorstep.

Jason met Dante at the station, and Dante informed him that Jake's DNA had been found on a vehicle: Luke's car.

Luke returned to the Haunted Star to find a distraught Lucky. Luke was glad that Lucky knew Carly had been ruled out as a suspect. With tears in his eyes, Lucky showed his father the forensics report that showed Luke's car was the one that had hit Jake. Luke, at first, was shocked, but he soon fell apart. He couldn't believe he'd hit a child and not known it. Luke downed a glass of whiskey to steady his nerves, which prompted Lucky to ask if Luke had been drinking before the accident.

3/28 Elizabeth invited Lulu into the living room. Lulu admitted that Jake had been an amazing child and that she was deeply sorry for Elizabeth's loss. Lulu also regretted the way that she had treated Elizabeth after the affair with Nikolas and the things that she had said to Elizabeth. Elizabeth didn't think that any of that seemed to matter anymore. Lulu confessed that it had been wrong of her to judge Elizabeth, but Elizabeth insisted that Lulu had just been a protective sister.

Lulu conceded that Elizabeth hadn't set out to hurt Lucky by having an affair. Lulu also acknowledged that Elizabeth had always been a wonderful sister and friend to her; Elizabeth had treated Lulu with more patience than Lulu had shown Elizabeth. Elizabeth assured Lulu that Lulu didn't have to apologize, but Lulu argued that it had been wrong of her to take her anger out on Elizabeth. Lulu wished that her ego would have let her say that sooner and that it hadn't taken the loss of a child to see it. Elizabeth joined Lulu on the sofa and then gently changed the subject by asking if Lulu had spoken to Lucky.

"Yes," Lulu assured Elizabeth. Elizabeth confessed that Lucky had persuaded her to donate Jake's organs after the accident. Lulu reminded Elizabeth that Jake had saved the lives of many children. Elizabeth hoped that one day the knowledge would help in some small way. Lulu admitted that she wished that Lucky could focus on Jake's gift of life rather than on finding the driver responsible for the accident.

Elizabeth refused to blame the driver for Jake's death. According to Elizabeth, it had been her fault for not locking the front door or hearing Jake leave. "That was an accident," Lulu insisted. Seconds later, someone knocked on the door, so Lulu answered it. It was Dante. Lulu offered to leave when Dante revealed that they had found the driver responsible for the hit-and-run.

Elizabeth invited Lulu to stay as Dante struggled to find the words to break the news to Elizabeth and Lulu. Dante assured Elizabeth and Lulu that it appeared to have been a "complete accident" and then admitted that Luke had been the driver. Lulu insisted that it had to be a mistake; she demanded to know if he had checked the mystery car with the forged license plates. Dante assured Lulu that they were certain that they had proof. Lulu became distraught as she struggled to accept what Dante had told her. Elizabeth was equally shaken by the news, so she asked Lulu and Dante to leave. Lulu didn't want Elizabeth to be alone, so she asked Dante stay with Elizabeth. Elizabeth explained that she needed to be alone, so Lulu and Dante left. Later, Lulu bumped into Tracy on a street corner. She tearfully wondered if Tracy had seen Luke.

Tracy realized that something had happened, so Lulu explained that Luke had been responsible for Jake's hit-and-run. "That's not possible," Tracy argued. Lulu revealed that forensics had confirmed it. Lulu then told Tracy that Lucky had gone to see Luke. Lulu confessed that Lucky had been on the warpath when he had thought that Carly had been responsible for the accident, so she feared how Lucky would react to Luke being the driver. Tracy couldn't believe that Luke had killed Jake. Lulu didn't know how Luke and Lucky would be able to make peace with what had happened. Tracy feared that Luke's life wouldn't be "right" without Lucky in it. Lulu worried that the guilt of Jake's death would eat her father alive.

At the Haunted Star, Luke was horrified at the realization that he had killed Jake. Luke acknowledged that he had been speeding, but Lucky demanded to know if Luke had been drinking. "I had a drink," Luke reluctantly admitted. Lucky demanded to know how many drinks Luke had consumed before climbing behind the wheel of the car. Luke insisted that it had only been "one or two" shots of scotch. Lucky was furious because his son was dead.

Luke denied that the accident had been a result of his drinking. Luke couldn't understand how it had happened because he didn't recall seeing Jake. "No dad, you didn't see him or react because you were drunk," Lucky accused his father. Lucky was shocked when Luke made his way to the bar to pour himself a drink. "What are you doing?" Lucky demanded in disbelief. Luke explained that he had been drinking since the age of twelve; he emptied the glass and then made his way to the center of the casino to walk a straight line to show Lucky that he could pass a sobriety test.

Lucky begged Luke to stop, but Luke desperately wanted Lucky to believe that the alcohol hadn't played a role in the tragic accident. Luke then poured himself several more shots of scotch, which he quickly drank. Lucky angrily demanded that his father stop, but Luke ignored his son's order. Lucky violently knocked the glass out of Luke's hand and then grabbed Luke's shirtfront as he once again screamed at Luke to stop.

Lucky quickly released Luke, who immediately began to weep and shake uncontrollably. Lucky stared at his father with a mixture of fury and despair. Luke pulled himself together enough to take full responsibility for the accident. Luke assured Lucky that he would carry the guilt of Jake's death with him forever. "That doesn't make it okay," Lucky explained. Luke began to weep again as he confessed that he wished that he had taken a different route and hadn't been speeding on that fateful night.

Lucky was frustrated because he didn't hear Luke wishing that he hadn't taken those drinks that Luke had before driving. Luke suggested that Lucky was just looking to blame something for Jake's death, so he was blaming Luke's drinking. Luke thought that it was an easy answer; however, no one knew why it had happened. Luke's inability to accept that he had a drinking problem only angered Lucky further. Lucky argued that the curse of addiction had been passed down from Luke's father to Luke and then from Luke to Lucky. According to Lucky, Luke's drinking had killed Jake.

"Okay. If that's what you need to believe, if that comforts you and gets you through the night, then fine. It was my drinking that killed Jake. I was drunk," Luke told Lucky. Luke wanted to know what he could do to ease Lucky and Elizabeth's pain. Lucky insisted that it was too late. Luke began to sob as he begged Lucky not to hate him. Lucky blamed himself for ignoring the signs of Luke's drinking problem for too long. Luke conceded that he was flawed, but he pleaded with Lucky not to hate him. Lucky quietly assured Luke that he didn't hate his father and never could. Lucky understood that Luke loved Lucky as much as Lucky had loved Jake. Luke was shattered as he watched a completely defeated Lucky walk out of the casino. Luke sat down as memories of the past invaded his mind.

Luke recalled a time shortly after Lulu's birth when he and Lucky had talked about how babies had changed things. Luke had told his young son that Lucky and been one of the two most amazing things to ever happen to him. Luke then remembered Lucky once questioning if Luke would change anything about the way that Luke had raised his children if Luke could do things over. Luke had admitted that he wouldn't change anything because he'd be afraid that he'd "screw" things up by actually trying to raise Lucky. Luke suddenly stood up and then began to trash the casino as he screamed in anguish.

Dante arrived at the police station to find Lucky at work. Lucky revealed that he had told Luke that Luke had been responsible for Jake's death. Lucky confided that Luke had been drinking at the time of the accident, but they had no way of proving that Luke had been over the legal limit. Dante warned Lucky that Lulu had heard the news and that she had been reluctant to believe it. Lucky wasn't surprised; denial was in his family genes.

Lucky explained that Luke refused to accept that his drinking had been a factor in the accident, but Luke had admitted that he'd had no business being behind the wheel of the car. However, Luke had only said that to appease Lucky. Lucky insisted that Luke refused to acknowledge the possibility that Jake had died because Luke had been impaired. Dante revealed that Jason had also been told about Luke's role in the accident. Lucky was curious how Jason had reacted, so Dante admitted that Jason had blamed Luke's drinking for the tragedy.

Lucky decided to go to Jason's penthouse to talk to Jason. However, Sam revealed that Jason wasn't at home. Lucky begged Sam not to stonewall him, but Sam assured Lucky that she had no idea where Jason had gone. Lucky revealed that Luke had been responsible for the hit-and-run that had killed Jake, so he asked Sam to keep Jason from killing Luke.

Luke wasn't surprised to see Jason enter the casino. Luke had been wondering when Jason would show up. He was curious if Jason had a gun or if he needed to use Luke's. "Enjoying yourself?" Jason asked Luke. Luke gave Jason a sarcastic answer, which Jason ignored. Jason demanded to know if Luke had been drinking prior to running over Jake. Luke admitted that he'd had a drink, but he denied being drunk at the time of the accident. Jason didn't buy that excuse. Jason insisted that a person was more aware of their surroundings and faster to react when they were sober. "But you weren't," Jason said with certainty. Luke retrieved a gun from beneath the bar and then set it down for Jason. "There it is. Use it," Luke invited Jason.

3/29 At Jason's penthouse, Lucky explained to Sam that he didn't want Jason to hurt Luke. Sam assured Lucky that she would be happy to use what influence she had to persuade Jason to leave Luke alone, but she warned Lucky that Jason was in a lot of pain. Lucky reminded Sam that he and Luke were also in pain. Sam wondered if it were possible for Luke to take one of his extended trips out of town. Lucky suspected that it would only fuel Jason's anger, so Sam suggested that Lucky call Jason. Lucky admitted that he had tried, but Jason hadn't picked up.

Lucky wanted Sam to pass along the message to leave Luke to Lucky. Sam promised that she would, but she couldn't guarantee that it would stop Jason from seeking out Luke. Lucky started to leave, but then stopped at the door. He asked Sam to let Jason know that, for what it was worth, he and Elizabeth were in the same hell that Jason was in. Sam reminded Lucky that Jason had been deeply grateful to Lucky for raising Jake. Lucky wondered if perhaps Jake would have been safer with Jason after all.

At the Haunted Star, Luke was curious if Jason would prefer that Luke put the gun in his own mouth and then pull the trigger. "It would be a start," Jason coldly replied. Luke confessed that suicide would be a relief, but Jason doubted that Luke would do it. "What makes you so sure?" Luke wondered. Luke acknowledged the pain and hurt that he had caused, but he insisted that the accident had been the result of poor lighting and Luke's speeding. Jason was furious that Luke had been drinking.

Jason accused Luke of being too arrogant to look him in the eye, and admit that Jake had died because Luke had been drunk. Jason grabbed the gun off of the bar and then aimed at Luke's heart. Luke thought that Jason, more than anyone, understood that life was random, and that terrible things happened, even to children. Jason suggested that Luke thank Michael the next time that Luke saw him. Jason explained that he wanted to kill Luke, but it wasn't what he wanted for Michael or the man that Jason hoped that Michael would become one day. Jason dropped the gun on the table and then walked out.

Luke revealed that Lucky had jumped to the wrong conclusion by blaming the accident on alcohol. Luke thought perhaps Tracy could make Lucky see that a lot of things had factored into the accident, except alcohol. Luke realized that Lucky was desperate to find a reason for the accident; however, sometimes there wasn't an answer. Luke was certain that Lucky would eventually demand that Luke enter a twelve-step program and then admit that he was an alcoholic. Luke vowed that would never happen. Tracy agreed to talk to Lucky, but she warned Luke that he might not want her to. "Why?" Luke wondered. Tracy confessed that she thought that Lucky was right.

Siobhan stopped by Lucky's apartment to drop off some food. She didn't want to push herself on Lucky, so she started to leave. Lucky admitted that he needed her. He was curious if she had seen Luke drink on the night of Jake's accident. Siobhan confessed that she recalled that Luke had consumed a tumbler of scotch. Siobhan was shocked when Lucky revealed that Luke had been responsible for the hit-and-run.

Lucky explained that Luke had denied that he had been drunk at the time of the accident. Siobhan joined Lucky on the sofa as Lucky began to talk about his rocky relationship with Luke. Lucky confessed that there had been several years when Lucky and Luke had barely spoken, during which Luke had been steadily drinking. Lucky confided that even Lucky's addiction hadn't made an impact on Luke's drinking; however, Lucky admitted that it had been the first time that he had recognized that his father had a problem. Siobhan was curious if Lucky had talked to Luke about it at the time.

According to Lucky, Luke hadn't been interested in hearing it, so it had been easier not to acknowledge the "pink elephant" in the room. Lucky realized that he had enabled his father by looking away, all the while knowing that Luke was a "raging alcoholic." Lucky knew that it would end in disaster, but he had never foreseen that Jake would pay the ultimate price. Lucky feared that Jake's death was as much his fault as it had been Luke's. Siobhan refused to allow Lucky to beat himself up over something that had been beyond his control.

Lucky reminded Siobhan that he had been the one who was supposed to have had Jake and Cameron that fateful night, but he had dumped them on their already overburdened mother, so that he could get married. Siobhan thought that it was one thing to seek answers, but another to take responsibility for something that Luke had done. Lucky argued that it had been his selfishness that had set the stage for the accident to happen.

Luke was sitting alone in the Haunted Star when Sonny entered the casino. "And the parade continues," Luke commented as Sonny approached the bar. Luke warned Sonny that he could save his breath if he intended to preach or blame Luke for the accident. However, if Sonny wanted a drink then he was welcome to take a seat.

3/30 On the Haunted Star, Sonny assured Luke that Jake's death hadn't been Luke's fault. According to Sonny, no one could have seen Jake in the road that night. Sonny realized that Jake's parents would try to blame Luke, so he urged Luke to take an extended vacation. Luke refused to run from Jason. Sonny confessed that he hadn't supported Jason's decision to let Lucky raise Jake. Sonny didn't blame Lucky for what had happened, but he suggested that Jason just needed some space. Luke revealed that Jason had given him a reprieve because of Michael. Sonny continued to argue that the hit-and-run had been a terrible accident that couldn't have been avoided.

Sonny believed that anyone could have hit Jake, so it had just been the luck of the draw. Luke appreciated Sonny's attempt to spin things, but Luke recalled that Sonny had once warned Luke that people didn't think clearly when they drank. Sonny continued to argue that Luke shouldn't blame himself for the accident. Luke explained that he had to blame himself for the accident because he had killed Jake. Luke recalled how desperate he had been to find the driver of the car. "How's that for irony?" Luke wondered. Sonny pointed out that if Luke had been guilty then Luke would have been in a jail cell. Luke reminded Sonny that the police hadn't been able to prove that he had been drunk at the time of the accident. Luke admitted that it annoyed him that everyone wanted to blame the accident on his drinking.

Sonny continued to defend Luke, which made Luke curious why Sonny was so determined to absolve Luke of wrongdoing. Sonny confessed that he had been where Luke was. Luke wondered what Sonny would have done if Luke had hit Sonny's son. "I'd kill you," Sonny answered. "Get in line," Luke replied. Sonny acknowledged that Lucky and Jason were mourning the loss of a child, so they needed to process the pain before they could see things for what they were.

"An accident," Sonny clarified. Sonny recalled what it had been like after Michael had been shot. Sonny had prayed that Michael wouldn't have to pay for Sonny's sins, but he had. Luke reminded Sonny that Sonny's son had lived, but Lucky's son hadn't. Sonny insisted that anyone could have hit Jake, so he urged Luke not to blame himself. Luke appreciated Sonny's absolution, but Luke couldn't forget that he had killed a child.

Luke was surprised when he glanced up to find Elizabeth standing in the casino. Elizabeth confided that she was glad that Luke was alone because she couldn't deal with any more well-meaning people offering condolences and advice on ways to cope. She confessed that she didn't want to look at pictures of Jake and think about the precious moments of her son's life. Elizabeth feared that they would just remind her of all the special moments that Jake would miss, such as his first day of kindergarten, and his first soccer game. She revealed that Jake had been excited about finally being old enough to be on a real team because he had looked forward to getting a trophy with his name on it.

Luke was stunned when Elizabeth apologized to him. She insisted that Jake's death had been her fault. Luke assured her that he was the only person who should apologize. He admitted that he hadn't known that he had been responsible for the accident when he had been by her house earlier that day. Elizabeth argued that she should have kept a closer eye on Jake, but Luke reminded her that no parent could watch their child every moment.

Elizabeth explained that Aiden had been asleep, and that Cameron had been playing in his room, so she should have heard Jake leave the house. Luke insisted that Elizabeth was a good mother, but Elizabeth revealed that the boys had been with her because she had refused to let them attend Lucky's wedding. Luke assured Elizabeth that Lucky didn't blame her because Lucky knew that it had been Luke's fault. Elizabeth continued to apologize to Luke because she didn't think that he should have to live with the guilt. "You are not to blame," Luke argued.

"If that were true then Jake would still be alive," Elizabeth replied. Elizabeth explained that it had been her responsibility, as Jake's mother, to keep Jake safe. She revealed that Jason hadn't wanted Jake to grow up like Michael had, surrounded by guns and guards. However, she realized that Jake would have been better off. Luke admitted that he'd had a "couple of drinks" prior to the accident, so he wanted her to blame him and the booze, but not herself. Elizabeth thought that it should have made a difference to her, but it didn't because Jake was still gone. Luke looked shattered as he watched Elizabeth leave.

3/31 Carly went to the Haunted Star to find out if Luke intended to go to the memorial service. Luke confessed that it might be in bad taste, since he had killed Jake. Carly insisted that Jake's death had been an accident. She assured Luke that she would stand by him because Luke had done the same for her. Luke revealed that Lucky and Jason believed that the accident had happened because Luke had been drunk. "Were you?" Carly wondered.

"No," Luke replied as he took a drink of scotch from his tumbler. Carly assured Luke that, because of Michael, Jason wouldn't hurt him. Luke thought that Carly was very astute because that was exactly what Jason had told him. Luke poured himself another glass of scotch as Carly offered to attend the funeral with Luke, but he declined. Carly explained that she had to go to Jake's memorial service because Jake had saved Josslyn's life. Luke was curious how Josslyn was doing.

Carly assured Luke that Josslyn was great and recovering in ICU. She admitted that she was grateful and heartbroken at the same time because Josslyn would have been dying if it hadn't been for Jake. Luke warned her that it could have been worse; Carly could have been the driver. Carly conceded that she had done a lot of things in her life that she had been ashamed of, so she knew about regret. Luke explained that he had always thought that regret was a wasted emotion because it didn't change anything. However, he was having a difficult time holding onto that creed because of Jake.

Elizabeth was sitting in her dinning room, staring off into space, when the phone rang. Tears filled her eyes as the answering machine picked up, and her happy greeting, inviting callers to leave a message for her, Cameron, Jake, or Aiden, filled the silence. Elizabeth then heard Nikolas explain that he was on his way to her house to pick her up for the memorial service. Elizabeth looked at a picture of Jake on the mantel as fresh tears began to flow.

Nikolas arrived to find Elizabeth sitting in the living room. Elizabeth offered Nikolas some peanut butter cookies, which had been Jake's favorite. Elizabeth revealed that she had baked them for when the boys returned from their visit with Lucky. "He never got to have one," Elizabeth remarked as she looked at the jar of cookies. Nikolas noticed that Elizabeth wasn't dressed for the memorial service, so he offered to cancel it if she weren't up to attending.

"Why?" Elizabeth asked. She assured him that she could find a black dress to wear. Elizabeth's tone filled with self-loathing as she admitted that she couldn't keep her four year-old in the house, and she had cheated on Lucky with his brother, but she could find a black dress. Elizabeth gently placed Jake's picture on the mantel as she confessed that she had failed Jake, so she was determined to be there for him at the memorial service.

Later, Elizabeth and Nikolas returned from the memorial service. They agreed that Steve had given a touching eulogy. Lucky's special prayer had also moved Elizabeth. She didn't understand where Lucky got his faith in God from, but she wished that she had it. Elizabeth confessed that Jake's death didn't make sense to her; she had turned her back on her son for a few minutes, and he had ended up dead. "What part of that says God loves me?" Elizabeth demanded. Elizabeth wanted to know why God hadn't watched over Jake, but Nikolas didn't have an answer for her.

Seconds later, Jax and Carly knocked. Nikolas answered the door for Elizabeth, and told them that it might not be a good time. Elizabeth assured Nikolas that it was fine, so she invited Jax and Carly in. Carly told Elizabeth that she and Jax were grateful for the gift that Elizabeth had given to Josslyn. Jax realized that they could never repay Elizabeth for saving Josslyn's life, but he insisted that she call him if she ever needed anything. Elizabeth wondered how Josslyn was doing.

Carly assured Elizabeth that Josslyn was recovering. Elizabeth reminded Carly that Josslyn was a miracle, so she urged Carly and Jax to hug, kiss, and cherish their daughter because she could be gone in a heartbeat. Jax and Carly nodded and then left. Afterwards, Elizabeth thanked Nikolas for everything; however, she needed some time alone. Nikolas was hesitant to leave, but Elizabeth assured him that Steve would be by soon. Elizabeth asked Nikolas to give her boys a kiss for her as he left. Elizabeth then picked up the envelope with Aiden's paternity test results. She read the results, wandered to the dinning room, picked up a huge vase of flowers, and then threw them across the room.

Luke went to the hospital to see Josslyn, but Shawn refused to let Luke enter the room. Luke explained that he was Carly's uncle, but Shawn insisted that Luke needed clearance from Carly before he could see Josslyn. Luke doubted that Cary would mind. "I would mind," Jason snapped. Luke turned to find Jason glaring at him. Jason demanded to know why Luke wanted to see Josslyn. Luke confessed that it was a sort of "consolation." Jason reminded Luke that Josslyn didn't know Luke, so Luke might scare her.

Luke conceded that Jason had a point. Jason wanted Luke to live with what Luke had done; he never wanted to hear Luke claim that Jake's death hadn't been Luke's fault. Luke nodded and then left. When Carly returned, Shawn revealed that Jason was spending time with Josslyn. Carly sent Shawn to the cafeteria for a short break and then peeked in on Jason and Josslyn. She smiled sadly when she saw Josslyn perched on Jason's lap while he read Josslyn a book about Africa.

Dante waited in Luke's office until Luke returned. Luke poured himself a drink, so Dante offered to return when Luke wasn't drinking. Luke drank some scotch and then assured Dante that he was as sober as he had been on "that night." Dante wondered if Luke had any specific memories about the night of the accident. Luke admitted that he remembered everything, except hitting Jake. Luke acknowledged that he had probably been driving fast, his music had been blaring, but he hadn't felt anything unusual about the "dark stretch of rough road." Lulu eavesdropped from the hallway as Dante wondered how many drinks Luke had consumed prior to the accident.

4/1 Lucky went to Crimson to check on Lulu. Maxie explained that Lulu wasn't there and then asked about Jake's memorial service. She immediately apologized for the insensitive question and then extended her condolences. Lucky assured Maxie that he hadn't been offended, so she thanked him, on behalf of transplant recipients like herself, for giving the gift of life. Lucky decided to sit down for a chat with Maxie over a cup of coffee. Lucky revealed that he had been trying to help Elizabeth, who had been drowning in guilt, even though he had been the one who had left Jake with an overloaded mother.

Maxie insisted that Lucky couldn't have known what would happen. Lucky recalled that Luke had arrived to witness Lucky's wedding to Siobhan, completely unaware that he had just hit Jake. Lucky had been annoyed when Elizabeth had called during the ceremony, until he had heard her voice. He confessed that he never wanted to hear that kind of fear again. Lucky confided that a Christmas movie, about a man who had been given an opportunity to see what life would have been like without him, kept playing in his head during Jake's memorial service.

Lucky wondered what Jake would have been like if he'd had a chance to grow up. Lucky suspected that Jake would have done something exciting, like captaining the space shuttle. Maxie acknowledged that Jake's life had been too short, but he had been a happy and secure child because Lucky had been a wonderful father. Spinelli arrived in high spirits, but he immediately sobered when he saw Lucky because he realized that Lucky had been to Jake's memorial service. Spinelli extended his heartfelt condolences, so Lucky thanked him and then left.

At the Haunted Star, Lulu eavesdropped as Luke denied that he had been impaired at the time of the accident. Dante was curious exactly how much alcohol Luke had consumed prior to the accident. Luke took a drink of scotch and then suggested that it didn't make a difference, since the police couldn't prove anything. Dante pointedly looked at Luke's drink as he warned Luke that he didn't want another child to suffer the same fate. Luke promised that Dante could relax because Luke didn't have any intention of driving.

Lulu entered the office to defend her father by insisting that Luke never drove drunk. "That's not the point," Luke warned Lulu. Luke explained that the law had standards, right or wrong, that were supposedly applied equally to all. Lulu argued that it took a lot of alcohol for Luke to get drunk, so she rarely saw her father intoxicated. Dante assured Luke and Lulu that Jake's death would be officially ruled an accident, which Luke believed would be a consolation to the family.

"Dad, please," Lulu requested as Luke took another drink. Luke wondered if she really wanted to go there with him in front of her boyfriend. Dante offered to leave, but Lulu insisted that they didn't have anything to hide. Lulu was confident that Luke hadn't been intoxicated at the time of the accident, but she insisted that Lucky wasn't ready to accept that. She pleaded with Luke not to consume any alcohol until Lucky had time to see that the accident had been a terrible tragedy. Luke refused to be something that he wasn't. Luke insisted that he would always be the person who had killed Jake, but Lulu was certain that Lucky would eventually make peace with everything. She wanted Luke to give Lucky room to realize that Luke was not to blame for Jake's death. "That's what I'm telling you, Lulu. I am to blame," Luke argued.

Luke made his way to the bar in the casino. He was about to take a drink of scotch, but then had a change of heart. Luke dumped out the scotch and then poured himself a glass of water. Shortly afterwards, Lucky entered. Lucky revealed that Dante had cleared Luke of wrongdoing in Jake's hit-and-run, so the case had been closed. Luke took a sip of his water. "Drinking vodka now? I guess scotch doesn't taste so good anymore, since that's what you were drinking the night that Jake died," Lucky bitterly observed.

4/4 Lucky gave Luke a program from Jake's memorial service. Luke said he had not gone to the service out of consideration for Lucky and Elizabeth. Luke said that he did not think it was right for the man who had been driving the car that killed Jake to be there. Lucky said that Luke's reasons were a "load of crap." He said that Luke was the master of spin and very good at rationalizing. Lucky said that the real reason that Luke had not been there was all about Luke. Lucky said that Luke had not been there because he could not accept that Jake was dead because of the choice that Luke had made to drink and drive.

Lucky asked if Luke had considered that Lucky really needed Luke there because he needed his father's support. Luke admitted that he had not. He acknowledged that staying away had been an act of cowardice. He said that there was no way to hide from what he had done. Luke said that he had played that night over and over in his head and could not remember anything helpful. Lucky said that Luke had suffered a blackout, which Luke denied. Lucky said that he knew that Luke was in hell and it was all because of his drinking. Luke insisted that he was not drunk.

Luke said that he had a high tolerance for alcohol that he had been working on since he was twelve years old. Lucky said that he was also an alcoholic, but he was not running to the bottle to dull his pain, no matter how much he wanted to do so. Lucky said he was bearing the pain, unlike Luke, who was standing like a zombie, drinking glass after glass of booze and refusing to admit he had a problem. Luke screamed that he was not an alcoholic, just as Lulu appeared on the Haunted Star. Lulu told them to stop arguing.

Lulu told Lucky and Luke that Jake's death had been a horrible accident. She said that it could have been any driver. She denied that Luke's drinking was to blame. Lucky said that Lulu was in denial. Lulu said that Luke felt horrible and blamed himself. She said that Luke did not feel that he deserved a son in his life after he had taken Lucky's son from him. She said Luke would do whatever it took to get Lucky to reject him. Lulu said that losing Jake was awful, and she did not want to lose her family also.

Luke said that he would gladly give his life if he could exchange it for Jake's. Lucky said that he believed Luke, but he added that Luke had to take responsibility and admit that alcohol had played a part in Jake's death. Lulu said that Luke was not a drunk. Lucky said that he could not stay and be part of their fantasy world while Luke knocked back a bottle of scotch.Lucky said that until Luke admitted that he had a problem, there was no chance for them to start healing. Luke said that it would not be honorable for him to say something he did not believe, and he did not believe that he had a drinking problem. Before leaving the Haunted Star, Lucky sarcastically commented, "Well, that is honorable." Lulu told Luke that she loved him no matter what.

Later, after Lulu left, Luke dumped his drink in a nearby planter, but when he picked up the memorial program and saw Jake's picture, he poured another drink and downed it. Lucky walked in and watched his father.

4/7 At Lucky's apartment, Lucky was on the phone with Mac. Lucky explained that he would be at the station later to drop off some paperwork and then he would be ready to go on the stakeout. Mac objected, but Lucky assured Mac that he was ready to return to work. After Lucky ended the call, Nikolas warned Lucky that it wouldn't work. "What?" Lucky asked in confusion. Nikolas didn't think that staying constantly busy would lessen the pain of losing Jake; he feared that it might get Lucky killed.

Lucky insisted that working was what he did, but Nikolas suggested that Lucky was trying to escape the pain of losing Jake. Lucky argued that the pain was constant. Cam, Aiden, and Spencer would grow up, go to college, and try to figure out what to do with their lives, but there would always be an empty space where Jake should have been. Lucky explained that he needed to keep moving or else he would dive headfirst into a bottle right alongside his father. Nikolas confessed that he had been wondering how the tragedy had been affecting Lucky's sobriety. "Sweet release is calling me," Lucky admitted.

Lucky assured Nikolas that he hadn't answered the call, even though he felt as if it would shut out the voices of recrimination in Lucky's head. Nikolas assured Lucky that Jake's death wasn't Lucky's fault. Nikolas wanted Lucky to call him if Lucky were ever tempted to drink. Nikolas vowed to help his brother in whatever way that he could. Lucky confessed that Jake's death had reminded Lucky how short life was. Lucky insisted that no matter how mad he was at Nikolas, the bottom line was that they were brothers, and Lucky would always love Nikolas.

Carly stopped by Lucky's apartment. She realized that Lucky probably wanted to be left alone, so she promised to make her visit brief. Carly let Lucky know that Josslyn was doing great; however, she admitted that they would have been in a different place if it hadn't been for Lucky. She knew that Lucky had persuaded Elizabeth to donate Jake's kidney to Josslyn, so there weren't any words to express how humbled and grateful Carly was. Lucky admitted that it helped knowing that Josslyn was doing so well.

Carly acknowledged that she had never done anything for Lucky, even though they were related. She wanted him to know that if he ever needed anything, all Lucky had to do was ask. Lucky confessed that he needed to apologize to Carly because of the way that he had reacted when he had suspected that Carly had been responsible for Jake's hit-and-run. Carly assured Lucky that it wasn't necessary; however, she knew how Luke felt because she had been in the same position when she had thought that she had killed Jake. Lucky accused Luke of being in denial. Carly reminded Lucky that Luke and Lucky loved each other. She suggested that Luke might need Lucky to reach out to him. According to Carly, it might also help Lucky.

After Carly left, Sonny arrived. Sonny offered Lucky his condolences, but he knew that there weren't any words that could help Lucky. Lucky thanked Sonny and then explained that he had called Sonny because Luke was having a difficult time. Lucky admitted that he couldn't help Luke because Lucky refused to watch Luke drink his way through the grief. According to Lucky, the alcohol had led to Jake's death. Sonny had an idea of what Lucky was going through because Sonny had felt the same anger and grief after Michael had been shot. Sonny confessed that he had wanted the man who had pulled the trigger to pay with his life. Lucky reminded Sonny that Ian Devlin had died; however, the death of the man who killed his son wasn't an option for Lucky. Sonny assured Lucky that Luke would never have intentionally hurt a child.

According to Sonny, Jake could have fallen into a pool. Lucky argued that Jake had been hit by car that had been driven by Luke after Luke had been drinking. Lucky refused jump on the denial bandwagon like Luke and Lulu, so he couldn't pretend that alcohol hadn't been a factor in the accident. Lucky wanted to comfort Luke, but Lucky was afraid that he might self-destruct or implode, so he wanted Sonny to be there for Luke.

Ethan insisted that it had been a tragic accident, but Luke explained that Lucky didn't see it that way. Ethan thought that it was understandable because Lucky wasn't thinking clearly. Luke confessed that he'd had a couple of shots of alcohol earlier that evening, but Luke denied that he had been impaired at the time of the accident. However, Luke thought that perhaps it was for the best that Lucky blamed the accident on the alcohol because it was easier to hate the booze than to hate Luke. Luke threw his drink down and then walked to the bar. Luke lined up all the bottles of alcohol on the bar and then began to chuck them across the room just as Nikolas entered.

4/8 Lucky talked to Sonny about the state Luke was in. Lucky asked Sonny to be there for Luke, but Sonny replied that what Luke needed was Lucky's support. Sonny said that anyone driving by Liz's house that night could have killed Jake. Lucky expressed that he was upset Luke had chosen to drink and drive that night. "Until he admits that drinking played a part in Jake's death," Lucky avowed, "I can't help him." Sonny suggested that Lucky give Luke the benefit of the doubt and implied that Lucky was feeling a little guilty too. Sonny assured Lucky that there was no reason to feel he'd failed Jake.

At home, Lucky worked on Brandon's murder case as Siobhan entered with groceries. Lucky suggested they get married that day. Siobhan resisted and argued that he needed time to grieve. Lucky declined her offer to go on a hike together and ran off to work.

Siobhan stopped by to see Luke. She strongly suggested that Luke needed to stop drinking and take responsibility for Jake's death. As Luke poured another drink, Siobhan fretted that Lucky might take risks that he wouldn't ordinarily. Luke made it clear that he was not his son's keeper. Siobhan stormed out.

Lucky went to see Jason, who apologized for having missed Jake's memorial. Lucky said that he was sorry for what Luke had done. Jason thanked Lucky for having been a good father to his son. Lucky let Jason know he was there on official police business. He was looking for clues in Brandon's murder. Jason exploded and told Lucky that he was unable to deal with that at that moment.

At the Haunted Star, Luke poured gasoline all over the floor and lit his lighter.

4/11 Luke was drunk and flicking a cigarette lighter on and off as he surveyed the gasoline-soaked floor of the Haunted Star. Lucky entered the casino and told Luke not to stop on his account because he loved fireworks. Then he asked Luke what he would accomplish by burning up Ethan's job and Tracy's investment with the Haunted Star. Lucky said that Tracy would be angry so Luke was probably burning up his marriage as well. Luke said it would simplify his life.

Lucky said that it reminded him of the night that Luke had burned down his blues club. Lucky said that burning the club had not worked out well for Luke and burning the Haunted Star would not work out either. Lucky said that burning up the boat was an empty gesture that would not get Jake back. Luke said it would be a spectacular way to break with the past. Lucky said that a wise man, his father, had told him that he could not outrun the past. Luke was thoughtful when Lucky left the casino.

Lucky stopped in to apologize to Jason for not protecting Jake. He told Jason that he should have stopped Luke from drinking. He said that the irony was that Jake had been conceived because of Lucky's addiction and had died because of Luke's. Lucky said he was sorry for being a coward and not standing up to Luke when it counted. Jason told Lucky that he was not to blame. Jason said that he knew that Lucky had loved Jake and done everything he could for him. Lucky said that Jake might have still been alive if he had confronted Luke about his drinking.

Lucky went to see Lulu at the loft. She told him about her visit with Luke. She said that he had put away the lighter and cleaned up the Haunted Star. Lulu said that Luke was in a lot of pain and did not know what to do. Lucky said that Luke did know what to do. Lucky told Lulu that Luke would drink until he no longer felt the pain.

4/13 Elizabeth was reviewing Aiden's paternity results when Nikolas stopped by. Nikolas confessed that he was glad that she had called. Elizabeth explained that she needed to talk to him about something, so she invited him to sit down. Elizabeth set the paternity results on the table and then admitted that she had been having a difficult time understanding how life could go on after Jake's death. However, she realized that her boys needed her, as did Lucky. Elizabeth knew that Lucky was dealing with a lot because of Luke and the guilt over leaving the boys with her, even though Jake's death had been her fault.

Nikolas insisted that Elizabeth wasn't to blame because it could have happened to anyone. Elizabeth worried that Lucky needed Nikolas, but Nikolas quickly assured her that he and Lucky had worked things out. Elizabeth was relieved that Lucky felt close to Nikolas again. Elizabeth wasn't surprised when Nikolas confided that Lucky had struggled to remain sober; she imagined that it had been tempting to escape the pain of losing Jake. Nikolas admitted that he never wanted to risk losing Lucky as a brother again.

Elizabeth decided to go to work after Nikolas left. Steve immediately objected when he saw Elizabeth at the nurses' station. Elizabeth insisted that she needed Steve to be a chief of staff rather than a brother. Steve assured her that he was; he argued that it was too soon for her to consider treating patients. Elizabeth argued that she had been a nurse for a long time, so she would never endanger her patients. Steve felt that she needed more time to grieve for Jake, but Elizabeth made it clear that she would always grieve for her son. Steve admitted that he had talked to their sister, Sarah, and that he and Sarah had agreed that it might be best for Elizabeth and the boys to have a change of scenery. Steve suggested that Elizabeth visit Sarah in California for a while. Elizabeth revealed that she needed to do something first before she could consider it.

Meanwhile, Maxie let herself into Elizabeth's home to drop off a plant. Maxie looked for a piece of paper to jot down a note, but found Aiden's paternity results instead. Maxie pulled the paper out of the envelope and then read the results.

4/14 At Elizabeth's house, Maxie read the paternity results just as Lucky entered the house. Lucky was surprised to see Maxie there. Maxie quickly shoved the results into her purse and then she explained she had dropped off a plant. Maxie added that she had passed the nanny and children on their way to Wyndemere, so the nanny had given Maxie permission to enter on the condition that Maxie locked up on the way out. Maxie then quickly changed the subject by asking how Lucky was holding up. Lucky confessed that it had been hard since Jake had died.

Maxie was surprised when Lucky admitted that he was reluctant to see Elizabeth because he was afraid that Elizabeth would blame him for Jake's death. Lucky felt that he should have done something about Luke's drinking years ago because Lucky had known that Luke frequently drove drunk. Maxie insisted that Lucky couldn't blame himself for Luke's choices. She explained that guilt was a wasted emotion because it kept people stuck. Maxie advised Lucky to forgive himself and then move forward. Nikolas arrived moments later, so Maxie quickly excused herself.

Nikolas and Lucky talked about Elizabeth and then Lucky confided his regrets about not forcing Luke to seek help for his drinking. Nikolas reminded Lucky that they had all turned a blind eye to Luke's drinking. Lucky argued that, as Luke's son, Lucky might have been able to get through to Luke.

At the hospital, Steve tried to persuade Elizabeth to consider taking the children to visit Sarah in California. Elizabeth insisted that she couldn't just pack up the kids, and leave, without trying to make things right with Lucky. Elizabeth explained that she had let Lucky down in a lot of ways. Steve argued that Lucky and Elizabeth should have been helping each other, but Lucky had barely been around since Jake's death. Elizabeth explained that Lucky rightfully blamed her for the accident, so she understood why Lucky had kept his distance. Lucky was strumming his guitar in his apartment when Steve knocked. Lucky was concerned that something might be wrong with Elizabeth.

Steve explained that he was furious because Jake's death had been as hard on Elizabeth as it had been on Lucky. Steve insisted that Jake's parents should be helping each other, instead of keeping their distance. Lucky admitted that he blamed himself for Jake's death. Steve was stunned; he insisted that Lucky wasn't responsible for what had happened. Lucky argued that he had ignored Luke's drinking for years.

Lucky insisted that he would have been dead that if Elizabeth had done the same when Lucky had been battling an addiction to pills. Lucky credited Elizabeth with doing everything in her power to help Lucky to get sober. Lucky believed that if he had done the same for Luke then Jake might not have been killed. Lucky was certain that Elizabeth was disappointed in how Lucky had handled Luke's alcoholism. Steve suggested that Lucky needed to blame himself as a way of try to control the situation. Lucky recalled that one of the twelve steps of recovery was to let go of things, which couldn't be controlled. Steve advised Lucky to get over himself because Elizabeth needed her hero back to tell her that she wasn't to blame for what had happened to Jake.

After Steve left, Tracy showed up to plead with Lucky to go to Luke. "Is he on fire?" Lucky wondered. Tracy admitted that Luke wasn't, so Lucky pointed out that there wasn't a rush for him to see Luke. Tracy insisted that Luke was in serious trouble, and she feared that something terrible would happen. Lucky didn't seem concerned, so Tracy kept pushing Lucky to talk to Luke. Lucky argued that he needed to focus on his own sobriety, but Tracy warned him that Lucky could lose his father if something weren't done.

Steve entered Luke's office in time to have a baseball tossed at him. Steve quickly caught the ball, which prompted Luke to wonder if everyone in town played baseball on the side. Steve pointed out that a trained surgeon had to have quick reflexes. Luke wondered how Elizabeth was holding up. Steve admitted that Elizabeth needed Luke's help, so Steve urged Luke to stop wallowing and self-destructing because Lucky couldn't focus on Elizabeth while Lucky was concerned about Luke.

Later, Elizabeth arrived home to find Nikolas waiting for her. She was surprised when she noticed the plant. Nikolas revealed that Maxie had dropped it off. Shortly after Nikolas left, Maxie returned. Maxie admitted that she had a good idea why Elizabeth had called. Elizabeth wondered if Maxie planned to blackmail her with Aiden's paternity results. Maxie started to deny it, but then conceded that Elizabeth had good reason to jump to that conclusion.

Maxie clarified that she had taken the results to keep Lucky from seeing them, so she quickly handed them back to Elizabeth. Maxie was curious who else knew that Lucky was Aiden's father. Elizabeth admitted that it was just her and Maxie. Maxie admitted to being the "queen of bad choices," but she wondered if perhaps Elizabeth thought that Lucky deserved to know the truth about Aiden when he was grieving so deeply for Jake.

4/15 Maxie explained to Elizabeth that Lucky and Nikolas had almost discovered that truth about Aiden's paternity, and she asked Liz when she would divulge the truth. Elizabeth hypothesized that Helena had altered the original DNA test results and lamented that she had been so preoccupied that the results of the new test she'd commissioned that she hadn't paid attention to Jake before he wandered into the street. Maxie made it clear that Lucky and Nikolas had to know the truth. "Either you tell them," threatened Maxie, "or I will."

Tracy asked Lucky to reach out to his father. Lucky replied that it seemed as if everyone was in need but that he was having a tough time just getting through the day. Lucky also told Tracy that there was nothing he could do about Luke's self-destructive behavior. Tracy asked if Lucky thought she'd been enabling Luke to continue his addictive tendencies. Lucky agreed that she had but that everyone who cared for Luke had been guilty. Lucky admitted that he had been the worst offender. Tracy forcefully stated that everyone close to Luke had reached out to him but that Lucky was the only one who could get through to Luke. "I can't look at him anymore without seeing that night flash through my mind," Lucky said. An exasperated Tracy left the apartment.

Later, Maxie stopped by, bearing flowers. She shared with Lucky that Elizabeth was beating herself up, because Elizabeth believed she was solely responsible for Jake's death. Maxie also stated that Lucky was not responsible for Luke's addiction. She apologized for having been partially responsible for Lucky's addiction, having supplied him with pills and destroying his marriage to Liz. Lucky said that, had things played out differently, Jake wouldn't have been born and that having been a father to Jake had made it all worth it.

As Nik showed up, a skittish Maxie abruptly departed. Nikolas assured Lucky that there was no timeline for grief. Lucky stated that he didn't want to be angry with his father, but that Luke refused to admit that his drinking had been a factor in the accident. Lucky took responsibility for not having confronted Luke over his addiction. Nik posited that it wouldn't have made a difference had Lucky called Luke on his behavior. Lucky believed that Luke might not have gotten behind the wheel if Lucky had expressed his concerns. He wondered how he would help his father when it was taking everything in Lucky not to fall apart. As Nik assured his brother that Lucky was stronger than he gave himself credit for, Liz walked in with the results of the paternity test.

Steven visited Luke and told him that he wasn't interested in revenge. Luke agreed that Lucky, as well as Steven, had every right to hate him. Luke told Steven that Elizabeth had stopped by to see him and had apologized for not watching Jake more closely the night of the accident. Luke suggested that Lucky convince Liz that Luke was wholly at fault for Jake's death. Steven retorted that Lucky had barely been in touch with Elizabeth since Jake's funeral. Lucky had to let Liz know that it hadn't been her fault, but that wouldn't happen until Lucky could stop worrying about Luke's impending meltdown. "Put someone else ahead of your pain," Steven admonished. Luke replied that he had no idea how to do that.

After Steven left, Tracy walked in. She was not amused by Luke's drunken humor. Luke surmised that Tracy had spent the day pleading with family in the hopes that someone could break through to him. She replied that all three of his kids had agreed on one thing: that they'd end up burying Luke, too, if he kept heading in the direction he was going.

4/18 At Lucky's apartment, Nikolas listened as Lucky said he would be diving into a bottle to assuage his grief if Nikolas were not there to comfort him. Elizabeth found them together and said that she came to apologize and ask for forgiveness. Lucky told her that she had nothing to apologize for. He said that what happened to Jake was an accident and that he should apologize to her for not stopping Luke from drinking. Nikolas said that it was not in Lucky's power to stop Luke. He said that Luke could not find help until he admitted that he was an alcoholic.

Lucky asked Elizabeth how she was doing. She said that she was holding it together for the sake of her other children. Lucky apologized for not being with her, but told her that he had felt guilty for not stopping Luke's drinking. Nikolas offered to drive Elizabeth home and she accepted. Lucky told her he would see the boys soon. Nikolas told Lucky to call if he needed anything.

When Nikolas and Elizabeth got to her house, she said that she had made a fool of herself in front of Lucky. Nikolas said that after so many years of friendship there was no such thing as looking foolish. He told her that after so many lies between them there was no such thing as too much truth. Maxie burst in and wanted to know if Elizabeth had told Nikolas her secret. When Nikolas said, "Told what?" Maxie covered quickly and said it was about the spa day she had arranged.

Nikolas said that a day at the spa sounded like a good idea and offered to care for the boys who were already staying at Windemere. After Nikolas left to check on the children, Maxie wanted to know if Elizabeth had told Lucky that Aiden was his son, not Nikolas' as they all believed. Elizabeth said that she had intended to tell Lucky, but when she got to his apartment he was in a lot of pain, and then she learned that Nikolas was the only thing standing between Lucky and the bottle. Elizabeth feared that the truth would tear the brothers apart and she did not want to be the one who took Nikolas away from Lucky.

Siobhan found Lucky looking at a Christmas card that Jake had made for him. She told him that she had cleaned his apartment, done his laundry and stocked up on food. She said that she wanted to take Lucky out of the apartment and he agreed reluctantly.

When they returned, Lucky was in a much better frame of mind. Siobhan had taken him up to the roof where they had to lean out precariously over the roof's to look at a glorious view. Lucky thanked Siobhan for reminding him that he was alive. He laughed when he asked if it were true that redheads were reckless. She said it was better to take a chance than live with regret. She said she could help him if he let her. Lucky said it could be arranged. They began kissing passionately.

At Windemere, Nikolas held Aiden and told him that it took a tragedy like Jake's death to wake him up and make him understand what was important. He said that he needed to stop wallowing and realize what a privilege it was to be Aiden's father. He told Aiden that he wanted to help him grown up and teach him what he had learned about life. Nikolas said that he had learned that everyone fails at something, but no matter what, you have to keep going and moving forward. He said it was important to let other people help you, especially your brothers. He said that brothers were not always fair and not always kind. He said that you got madder at them than anyone else, but no one would stand up for you like they would, and even when you did something unforgivable, they would forgive you. Nikolas told Aiden that he loved him and wished that his future relationships with his brothers Cam and Spencer would be as good as the one he had with Lucky.

4/19 At Lucky's apartment, things quickly heated up when Lucky and Siobhan kissed. Siobhan's purse dropped to the floor with a thud, so Lucky bent down to pick it up. Lucky was startled when he discovered that a plane ticket had fallen out of the purse. Lucky realized that Siobhan intended to return to Ireland without telling him about her plans. Siobhan argued that Lucky had enough on his mind without having to worry about marrying her for a green card, so she had thought that it would be best to make a clean break of things.

Lucky reminded her that it was up to him to decide whether he could handle a marriage or not. Siobhan argued that he had to deal with Luke's drinking, and Elizabeth, who was blaming herself for the tragedy. Lucky insisted that he cared about Siobhan, and wanted her to be a part of his life. He suspected that Siobhan was scared because she had feelings for him. Lucky doubted that anything better was waiting for her in Ireland. Siobhan agreed, but she refused to let him set aside his family to take care of her.

Lucky reminded Siobhan that Siobhan didn't need anyone to take care of her. He insisted that he wasn't ready for her to go. Siobhan began to waver as she confessed that she had wanted to avoid saying goodbye to him because she feared that he would be able to persuade her to remain in Port Charles. Lucky smiled as he asked if he had succeeded. Siobhan admitted that, for the moment, he had.

At Elizabeth's house, Nikolas held the latest paternity results in his hands as Elizabeth confessed that she hadn't realized that she had left the paternity test out. Nikolas wasn't surprised that she had felt the need to look at it because he understood that she wanted Lucky to have been Aiden's father. Elizabeth realized that Nikolas mistakenly believed that he was holding one of the earlier paternity tests, so he had no idea that Lucky was Aiden's father. Nikolas admitted that he didn't need to see the results of the tests because he didn't have any reservations about Aiden's paternity. Nikolas knew that Aiden could never replace Jake, but he hoped that Aiden would help all of them heal.

Nikolas realized that he could never understand what Lucky and Elizabeth were going through, but he was certain that they could all grow closer and stronger by supporting each other, and being honest. Elizabeth admitted that she needed to tell Nikolas something, but then opted to remind him that she had never really stopped loving Lucky. She apologized for all the pain that she had caused Nikolas. Nikolas assured her that he loved her and that they would always be friends.

4/25 Lucky and Maxie ran into each other at Kelly's. Maxie hinted that Lucky was about to have something good happen in his life. She told him that when something bad happened in life, the universe rewarded you with something better. Lucky laughed and Maxie was glad. She told him that after her sister's death she never thought that she would laugh again, but Spinelli had said something that tickled her funny bone and laughter had burst out of her.

When Elizabeth got to Kelly's, she worried that Maxie had spilled the beans about Aiden's paternity. Maxie said she was leaving because Lucky and Elizabeth needed to talk. Lucky said that Maxie made him smile even when he did not know what she was talking about. Elizabeth was relieved and said it was good to see him smile, no matter the circumstances.

When Elizabeth said the needed to talk, Lucky said that they needed to talk about Siobhan. He said that he did not want her to leave and the only way to keep her in the country was to go through with their green card marriage. Elizabeth was ashamed of her reaction the first time that Lucky had said that he was going to marry Siobhan. Elizabeth said that if she had let the kids go to the wedding as Lucky wanted, Jake would still be alive. Lucky told her not to blame herself, because it was an accident and they could both think of things that they could have done differently.

Elizabeth said that it meant a lot to her that Lucky cared about what she thought and was asking her permission. Lucky said that just because they were no longer together did not mean that he did not care for her. Lucky told Elizabeth that he would always care for her. They reminisced about all the good times they had shared in Kelly's with Nikolas and Emily. Elizabeth told Lucky that she was sorry for all the pain he was in and that if he wanted to marry Siobhan and it would make him happy, then he should do it. Elizabeth told Lucky that all she wanted was to see him happy again.

Luke was in his office on the Haunted Star when Siobhan popped in. He was very drunk and Siobhan told him that he seemed determined to disappear into the bottle and get so drunk that he could forget what he had done. She said she could speak her mind because she was being deported. Luke said that the last thing Lucky needed was for her to go away. She said that the same went for Luke. Luke told her to take Lucky to Ireland with her and help him break completely with the past.

Later, after Luke left the Haunted Star, Nikolas arrived and found Siobhan cleaning up the mess that Luke left behind. He wanted to know why she had called him. Siobhan said that she was being deported and she did not want to leave Lucky alone. She asked Nikolas to try to intercede with Luke and help him see reason and repair his relationship with Lucky.

Maxie went to Elizabeth's house to find if she had told Lucky that he was Aiden's father. Elizabeth said she could not spoil Lucky's happiness over Siobhan, who Maxie called the "rebound girl." Elizabeth said that Lucky really cared about Siobhan and she did not want to wreck his plans. Maxie said that family was everything to Lucky and that he would drop Siobhan as soon as he found out that he was Aiden's father. As Elizabeth responded that she did not want to use Aiden to hold on to Lucky, Nikolas walked in. Lucky went to the penthouse to see Sam. She told him that Luke was trying to goad Jason into killing him. She said that in Jason's state of mind, Luke would not have to try very hard.

4/26 At Elizabeth's house, Maxie stood watch as Elizabeth tried to muster up the courage to tell Nikolas the truth about Aiden's paternity. Nikolas sensed Elizabeth's hesitation, so he reminded her that she could tell him anything. Maxie reminded Elizabeth that Nikolas deserved to know the truth. Elizabeth admitted that it had to do with Lucky, but then lost her nerve by asking if Nikolas had heard that Lucky and Siobhan planned to marry. Nikolas was surprised because Siobhan had told him that she intended to return to Ireland.

Maxie immediately advised Elizabeth take "decisive action" by telling Lucky the truth, since Elizabeth and Lucky shared so much already. Nikolas assumed that Maxie was urging Elizabeth to try to win Lucky back, so he wondered why Elizabeth and Lucky's relationship concerned Maxie. Maxie explained that, unlike the Cassadines, she didn't believe in holding a grudge forever. Maxie admitted that she was grateful to Elizabeth and Lucky for donating Jake's organs.

Maxie realized that losing a sister wasn't the same as losing a child, but Maxie could appreciate the pain that Elizabeth was going through. Maxie confessed that she had finally realized how much Elizabeth and Lucky loved each other, so she wanted to help them reconcile, since she had helped to break them up. Nikolas agreed that Elizabeth should tell Lucky the truth about her feelings, but Elizabeth insisted that Lucky had made his choice. Maxie cryptically reminded Elizabeth that Elizabeth knew exactly what to say to Lucky to make him reconsider marrying Siobhan.

Elizabeth argued that Siobhan made Lucky happy, but Maxie insisted that Elizabeth could make Lucky happier. Nikolas suggested that they should respect Elizabeth and Lucky to make the right choices. Maxie looked pointedly at Elizabeth and then admitted that she didn't see that happening unless everyone knew the truth. Elizabeth insisted that Lucky couldn't always be her hero, so she refused to stand in the way if Lucky wanted to marry Siobhan.

After Nikolas left, Maxie tried to persuade Elizabeth to change her mind, but Elizabeth didn't want to destroy Lucky and Nikolas' relationship. Maxie was confident that Lucky and Nikolas would eventually get over it. However, Maxie was curious why Lucky's relationship with Nikolas was more important than Lucky's relationship with Aiden. Elizabeth confessed that she couldn't handle being responsible for Lucky suffering another loss. Maxie realized that Elizabeth was blaming herself for Jake's death and therefore believed that she didn't deserve Lucky. Maxie gently warned Elizabeth that the worst thing that Elizabeth could do was to let Lucky slip away.

At the Haunted Star, Sonny asked Luke if it was fair to Jason for Luke to trick him into killing him (Luke showed up at Jason’s trying to incite him to commit murder). "I don't give a crap about Jason," Luke informed Sonny. Luke couldn't understand why Jason hadn't taken Jake back after Elizabeth and Lucky had split up. Sonny assured Luke that Jason had a lot of regrets, and that one of them would be killing Luke if it went that far.

Luke doubted that, since Luke had been responsible for killing Jake. Sonny reminded Luke of Lulu, Ethan, and Tracy. Luke was certain that they would be okay because they were survivors. Luke was confident that Jason would be able to make Luke's body disappear, so everyone would assume that Luke had left town on one of his long trips. Sonny wondered if Luke had considered that Lucky would spend the rest of his life looking for Luke.

Sonny went to Lucky's apartment to warn Lucky that Luke was trying to punish himself because the guilt was eating at him. Lucky confessed that he was afraid for his father. Lucky explained that his father had always been larger than life to him, so Lucky had never seen Luke as an "ordinary mortal." Sonny confided that Luke didn't want to be like Tim Spencer. Lucky insisted that Luke had been nothing like Lucky's abusive grandfather. According to Lucky, Luke had been an incredible father.

Sonny revealed that a part of Luke felt as if he had run over Lucky on that tragic night. Sonny explained that Luke believed that Lucky attributed the accident to alcohol because Lucky couldn't stand to blame Luke for killing Jake. Lucky conceded that perhaps a part of him felt that way, but the alcohol had been an issue for years. Sonny feared that Luke wouldn't be able to forgive himself. Lucky agreed because Luke wanted to drown the pain with alcohol.

Sonny confessed that watching Luke and Lucky together had made Sonny want to be a father. Sonny recalled the time that the three of them had gone camping when Lucky had made Sonny and Luke pierce Lucky's ear with a fishhook. Afterwards, they had disinfected the ear with tequila. Lucky confessed that he had always thought of Luke as strong, so he had never expected Luke's demons to take over. Sonny realized that driving under the influence was wrong, but he thought that Lucky should consider the burden that Luke had to carry around for killing Jake.

Lucky argued that Luke had been responsible for the accident because Luke had made the choice to drive after drinking alcohol. Lucky insisted that Luke was a high-functioning alcoholic, but they had all looked the other way because no one had ever imagined that Luke would mess up as badly as he had. Lucky realized that his father was in a freefall. Sonny wondered what Lucky planned to do. "I guess I'm going to try to catch him," Lucky replied. After Sonny left, Nikolas arrived.

Lucky told Nikolas about Luke's plans to provoke Jason, and then revealed that they needed to stage an intervention to get Luke into rehab before it was too late. Nikolas wondered if Lucky were prepared to cut all ties with Luke if Luke didn't get help. Lucky warned Nikolas that they might have to cut ties permanently with Luke if they didn't act quickly. Nikolas agreed to help gather the family together, but he feared that Lucky would get hurt.

Meanwhile, Luke packed a duffle bag, took a drink, and then walked out of his office.

4/27 Lulu and Ethan arrived at Lucky's apartment. Lucky explained that he had called because Luke was in trouble, so the family had to stage an intervention. "Absolutely not," Lulu replied. Lulu was certain that Luke would just shut down, while Ethan feared that Luke would feel as if everyone were ganging up against Luke. Lucky argued that Luke desperately needed their help, but Lulu insisted that they just had to keep Luke from bottoming out.

Lucky revealed that Luke had hit rock bottom, and then told them about Luke's plan to force Jason's hand. Lucky warned them that Luke would end up dead if something weren't done. Lulu continued to deny that Luke had a drinking problem. She insisted that Luke had been drinking a lot lately to push Lucky's buttons. Lulu believed that Lucky simply had to tell Luke that he loved him unconditionally to make Luke stop drinking.

Ethan suggested that Lulu's happy scenario was faulty because she was under the impression that Luke's drinking was the problem. Ethan explained that the drinking was merely a symptom of a far greater problem, and that Jake's death had pushed Luke to the brink. Lucky realized that it was painful to accept that Luke had a problem, but they were running out of time.

Moments later, Tracy and Nikolas arrived. Lucky insisted that it was urgent that they find Luke before Luke got himself killed. Lulu hoped that Luke stayed gone; she insisted that addiction was Lucky's problem, not Luke's. Lulu declared that she would be ashamed to be a part of an intervention for their father and then stormed out. Tracy and Ethan left shortly afterwards.

Nikolas and Lucky made a few calls, but they failed to track down Luke. Lucky regretted that he had not acted sooner because he feared that it was too late to save Luke. Nikolas argued that it hadn't been up to Lucky to rescue Luke because Lucky had been grieving for Jake. Lucky tearfully confessed that he didn't want to lose his father. "I know," Nikolas quietly replied.

Elizabeth stepped onto her porch to find out why Luke had been standing in the spot where Jake had been hit. "You mean where I hit him," Luke corrected Elizabeth. Elizabeth assured Luke that it hadn't been his fault, but Luke disagreed. Luke revealed that the last time that he had been on her road, he had hit her boy and then had kept on driving because he hadn't felt anything. However, he had felt the impact of the tragedy moments earlier. Luke was certain that he would feel it for the rest of his life.

Elizabeth assured Luke that she understood being overwhelmed with guilt, but she insisted that the tragedy had been an accident. She hoped that Luke would believe that one day. Elizabeth urged Luke to see Lucky because Lucky was worried. Luke doubted that Lucky wanted to see him because Luke was a reminder of Jake's death. Elizabeth pleaded with Luke not to let Lucky lose his father too.

Elizabeth knew that Luke loved his son. "Enough to let him move on without me," Luke replied. He suggested that she should do the same. Elizabeth revealed that Lucky had decided to marry Siobhan, and that he had essentially asked for Elizabeth's blessing. Luke wondered if she had given it to Lucky. Elizabeth explained that she wanted Lucky to be happy, so she was trying to convince herself that she was okay with it.

Luke warned Elizabeth that Lucky would never let go until she did. She wondered if Luke thought that she was bad for Lucky. Luke admitted that he would be a hypocrite to judge her for the choices that she had made when he had caused her so much pain. However, Luke believed that Lucky and Elizabeth needed a fresh start apart from each other, so perhaps she should let go. Elizabeth assured him that she was trying to do that. Luke wished her luck and then left.

Luke entered Jake's a short time later. He ordered a bottle of scotch and then invited Siobhan to join him. Siobhan explained that she didn't normally drink while working, but she was willing to make an exception for Luke. Luke smiled as Siobhan set another glass on the bar. Luke took a drink and then wondered where Siobhan would go if she could pick any location in the world to visit. Siobhan thought about it for a moment and then revealed that she would go somewhere that she had never been. Luke was curious why, so Siobhan explained that she liked the adventure of discovering something new. Luke smiled and then offered a toast.

Afterwards, Luke and Siobhan talked about different places in the world that they had seen. Eventually, Luke told Siobhan about a time that he had been in Istanbul with Lucky when Lucky had been very young. Luke recalled that he had been on his way to fence some jewelry when he had been separated from Lucky.

Luke had made his way to a park, where he had instructed Lucky to go if anything had gone wrong. Luke had anxiously waited, in the rain, for hours for Lucky to show. Luke recalled that he had been so happy to finally see Lucky that he had hugged his son tightly. Luke recalled Lucky had begged to be released because he couldn't breathe. Luke proudly explained that it had taken Lucky seven hours to make his way across Istanbul on his own.

Luke then turned the conversation back to Siobhan by asking how she had ended up trotting the globe. Siobhan admitted that she had seen too many people living with regrets, including her father, so she had decided not to live that way. Luke was curious if she had any regrets. Siobhan admitted that she was occasionally lonely and sometimes wished that she had a sense of place and connection that others had.

Luke warned her that it was overrated. He was certain that she would discover that she was living a lie if she settled for a house with a white picket fence. Siobhan accused Luke of being cynical. Luke chuckled as he explained, "A cynic is just a romantic who has seen the world, my dear." Luke finished his drink and then excused himself.

Siobhan quickly called Lucky to let him know that Luke was drinking at Jake's and talking about traveling around the world. A short time later, Luke returned to the bar. Siobhan continued to drink with Luke to keep Luke busy until Lucky arrived. Luke smiled when Ethan entered the bar. Luke invited Ethan to join them, so Ethan took the bottle of scotch and filled the glasses.

Luke took a hearty gulp of his drink; within moments, Luke began to slur his words and then drift off to sleep. Lucky appeared as Luke's head hit the bar. Ethan wasn't familiar with the rules, but he was curious if that was how an intervention began. "A Spencer Intervention," Lucky replied.

4/28 At one of Sonny's warehouses, Luke slowly woke up to the sound of his friends and loved ones talking in hushed tones around him. Luke looked down to discover that he had been duct-tapped to a chair. A man suddenly entered the room and then explained that those close to Luke had gathered for an intervention. The man assured Luke that Luke's family and friends loved Luke. "Well, love me less," Luke snapped.

Luke demanded to know how he had ended up strapped to a chair. The question became moot when Luke recalled drinking with Ethan at Jake's -- suddenly, everything fell into place for Luke. Lucky offered to untie Luke if Luke agreed to hear them out. Luke made it clear that he didn't have any intention of cooperating, so he was left secured to the chair. Luke's eyes drifted around the room to see Carly, Sonny, Tracy, Nikolas, Lulu, Lucky, and Ethan take their seats in a circle around him. Luke was curious if they thought that there was safety in numbers.

Luke was disappointed that each of the people gathered hadn't respected him enough to talk to him individually. Tracy spoke for everyone when she assured Luke that they had tried, to no avail. Luke demanded to know who the "clown" was leading the intervention. Calvin Blaine introduced himself and then revealed that he was an interventionist. Calvin explained that the family had asked Calvin to guide them through the intervention.

Luke insisted that Calvin was wasting everyone's time because Luke refused to be "interventioned." Luke ordered Calvin to take his tough love and enlightenment and "stuff it." Calvin ignored Luke's hostility as he explained that Luke merely had to listen to what everyone had to say. Luke glared accusingly at Lucky. Calvin told Luke that the family was concerned about Luke's drinking, so they would each read a letter that they had written to Luke.

Luke angrily accused everyone of blaming alcohol for Jake's death, but he vehemently denied that he was an alcoholic. Everyone ignored Luke's outburst as Calvin invited Lulu to read her letter. Luke sensed Lulu's uncertainty. He blamed Lulu's brothers, and Tracy, for pressuring Lulu to participate in the intervention, so he assured her that it was okay not to read the letter. Lulu's eyes filled with tears as she quietly began to read.

Lulu assured Luke that she loved him, but she acknowledged that he hadn't been around for much of her childhood. Luke was startled when the restraints suddenly melted away as everyone faded from the room except for Luke and Lulu. Luke stood up, but didn't leave as he faced Lulu while she confessed that she had never been fond of ice fishing. However, she had looked forward to little trips while she was growing up because it had meant that she could spend time with Luke. Lulu insisted that she could never hate Luke because he was her father and therefore, her world.

Luke looked up to find a memory of the past playing out like a movie on the wall. In the memory, Luke and Lulu sat in Luke's car outside of a clinic. Luke offered to take Lulu to Europe if she had any doubts, but Lulu assured him that she was prepared to go through with the abortion. Lulu thanked Luke for being a wonderful and supportive father and then gently explained that she wanted to enter the clinic alone. Luke seemed surprised until Lulu revealed that it wasn't something that she felt comfortable doing with her father. Luke offered to wait in the parking lot, but Lulu assured him that she would call a cab when she was ready to go home.

The intervention continued with Lulu crediting Luke for helping her through one of the most difficult times in her life. It terrified Lulu that Luke had turned destructive and suicidal. Lulu realized, as she had prepared for the intervention, that Luke had a problem, so she urged him to get help because she needed her father in her life. Luke insisted that Lulu was wrong about him because he wasn't an alcoholic. Ethan was invited to read his letter next.

Ethan spoke of how it had felt to meet Luke for the first time and then to learn that Luke was his father. Ethan admitted that he had never considered Luke's drinking to be a problem until recently, when it had become clear to Ethan that the alcohol controlled Luke, not the other way around. Luke angrily accused Ethan of conning everyone and then began to berate Ethan until Sonny spoke up. Sonny realized that it wasn't his turn to speak, but he couldn't understand how someone like Luke, who would do anything to save a person, couldn't save himself. Sonny considered Luke a close friend, whom he deeply respected.

The room transformed, so that Luke and Sonny were seated at a table as if they were in Pozzulo's, chatting like two old friends over a cup of coffee. Sonny confessed that he had always admired Luke because Luke had managed to balance fatherhood and friendship. Luke saw his camping trip with Lucky and Sonny play out on the wall. Luke smiled as he watched Sonny hand him a bag of ice to numb Lucky's ear before Luke pierced it with a fishhook. Sonny admitted that seeing Luke and Lucky had made Sonny want to be a father. Sonny considered Luke to be a man of principal and integrity, so he pleaded with Luke not to let the disease get the best of him.

Calvin invited Nikolas to speak next. Nikolas recalled the time that Luke had saved Nikolas' life after Nikolas had been shot in the neck. Nikolas remembered how Luke had assured him that Nikolas would be fine and then had stayed with Nikolas when the ambulance had rushed Nikolas to the hospital. Nikolas admitted that it had been the first glimpse that Nikolas had of the man that Luke truly was. Nikolas appreciated Luke's wisdom and ability to accept people as they were, but he insisted that the alcohol was robbing Luke of that ability.

Next, Carly was given the opportunity to read her letter. She assured her uncle that she wouldn't get all sentimental on him because she knew that he hated it, and it wasn't really her style. Carly accused Luke of being an alcoholic who was in denial about his addiction. According to Carly, the drinking had kept Luke from showing up when it mattered, and numbed Luke to the point where Luke no longer cared. Carly loved Luke, but she was certain that he would end up lost to them if he didn't seek treatment. Luke was curious what Carly would do if a bunch of well-meaning, but misguided, people asked her to prove that she loved them by giving up everything that she was.

Carly clarified that they weren't asking Luke to give up who he was; they wanted him to give up the booze. Disgusted, Luke turned his back on her, only to find himself face-to-face with Tracy. "This is really low, Wife, but you managed to prove again that you can outmaneuver me," Luke told her. Tracy warned Luke that they weren't playing games; they were trying to save his life. Tracy insisted that Luke was sick, and in desperate need of help. Calvin cautioned Tracy not to engage Luke and then instructed her to read her letter.

Luke begged Tracy not to, but she forged ahead. Tracy confessed that Luke had been an "unexpected miracle." She loved loving him and had learned how to love because of him. Tracy explained that love was a meeting of the minds, recognition of the spirits, and a conversation between two hearts that required appreciation and acceptance. Tracy admitted that she didn't accept his disease, but she took full responsibility for her role as his enabler. Luke hated hearing Tracy use buzzwords.

Tracy ignored Luke's complaint as she conceded that their marriage had started out as a drunken escapade. She confessed that a part of her had feared that Luke couldn't love her unless he was drunk. However, she had realized the depth of his feelings when Luke had shown up to rescue Tracy after Helena had kidnapped her. Tracy acknowledged that she had been at her worst. Luke looked up to see the memory of his heartfelt declaration of love for Tracy, during their captivity, play out on the wall.

Tracy explained that it had been important to her that Luke be sober for their second wedding because of her fears and the circumstances of their first wedding. Tracy insisted that she would expect him to get treatment if he had cancer, so she expected him to get help for his drinking. Luke reminded Tracy that he had been sober when he had married her, and that his intentions had been pure. However, he didn't believe that she could say the same because it was clear to him that she couldn't accept him as he was. Luke vowed that he would never change, even for Tracy.

Luke turned to face Lucky. "Your turn, Cowboy," Luke told his son. Luke tried to push Lucky's buttons by asking Lucky to make it quick because Luke was thirsty. Lucky's eyes filled with tears as he warned Luke that he intended to start off with a word that Luke hated: hero. Lucky confessed that Luke had become Lucky's hero the day that Lucky was born. Lucky credited Luke with teaching him how to survive and to think on his feet. Lucky insisted that Luke had been the best dad that a kid could ever ask for.

Lucky confessed that he had risked everything by arranging the intervention because he realized that Luke would be furious and feel judged. However, Lucky assured his father that he hadn't lost faith in Luke. Lucky's fondest memory was shortly after Lucky and Luke had mended their relationship following their first big rift. Luke's eyes filled with tears as a poignant memory of Luke and a teenaged Lucky played out on the wall.

In the memory, Luke confessed that he had never seen himself as father material and that he had been reluctant to perpetuate the misery and mistakes that had been passed down to him. However, Luke felt blessed to be credited for helping to shape a man like Lucky, whom Luke held in the highest regards. Luke realized that he might be taller than Lucky, but Lucky was Luke's hero. Luke returned his focus to Lucky as Lucky admitted that he knew exactly what Luke was going through. Lucky realized that Luke felt rage and suffocated.

Lucky acknowledged his own struggle with addiction to pills and alcohol. Lucky clarified that the substance didn't matter because it was still the same disease. Lucky insisted that Luke had to see the truth when Luke would rather drink alone in the casino instead of spending Christmas with the family. "It's got you, man. Wake up, Dad," Lucky implored his father. Lucky realized that it was selfish of him, but he needed Luke to help him deal with Jake's death.

Lucky was desperate for Luke's wisdom and clarity. Lucky wanted the father that he had grown up with, who would warn Lucky of the danger, not the faded and diminished version of that man. A tear slid down Luke's cheek as Lucky confessed that he didn't want to walk through the nightmare of losing his son without his father by his side. Luke promised that he would do anything for Lucky, but Luke refused to lie by admitting that he was an alcoholic. Luke was prepared to live with the knowledge that he had killed Lucky's son, so Lucky needed to accept that Luke hadn't been drunk, wasn't an alcoholic, and didn't have the disease.

Luke became emotional as he insisted that he didn't want to remain in the warehouse another minute. Calvin explained that everyone had expressed their concerns for Luke, and their desire for Luke to seek treatment. Calvin revealed that the family had made arrangements for Luke to immediately enter a facility, so Lucky, Ethan, and Lulu were prepared to drive Luke to Shadybrook for inpatient treatment. Luke was stunned that his family wanted to put him in a "rubber room." Luke was adamant that he refused to go.

Calvin assured Luke that it was Luke's decision; however, there would be consequences if Luke chose not to seek treatment. Calvin started with Nikolas. Luke turned to Nikolas as Nikolas revealed that his doors would be closed to Luke if Luke didn't go to rehab. "Ouch, that hurts," Luke sarcastically replied. Sonny explained that he wouldn't be able to be there for Luke, in any capacity, if Luke didn't get help. Carly warned Luke that Luke would not be welcomed at Metro Court, so he wouldn't enjoy the benefits of a free place to sleep, free food, and definitely no free alcohol.

Ethan vowed not to include Luke in on any of his cons. Tracy insisted that Luke would be banned from the Haunted Star, cut off from all of the funds, not be welcomed in her family's home, nor would he be invited into Tracy's bed. Lulu promised to cut off all contact with her father if Luke refused to go to Shadybrook. Lucky also vowed that Luke wouldn't be welcomed in his home or life if Luke didn't seek treatment. Calvin gave Luke another opportunity to accept the help that was being offered, but Luke refused. Ethan stepped forward to remove the duct tape.

Afterwards, Luke stood up and then slowly smoothed the lapels of his jacket. Luke hoped that they had all enjoyed their creative writing because he hadn't. Luke assured each of them that they could pat themselves on the back for trying, but they could write him off as an "unrepentant bastard" who had killed a four-year old. Lucky warned Luke that Luke had completely missed the point, but Luke didn't care. Luke announced that there was a bottle with his name on it and then excused himself. Everyone appeared sad as they watched Luke walk out of the warehouse. In the alley, Luke took a moment to compose.

5/4 At Lucky's apartment, Lucky and Nikolas discussed the aftermath of Luke's intervention. Lucky wasn't surprised that Luke had refused to accept help, so Lucky was resolved to focus on his own life, which meant finding a solution for Siobhan's immigration problems. Nikolas offered to take care of it by making some phone calls. Lucky warned Nikolas that Siobhan's application for an extension on her visa had been denied. Nikolas admitted that he liked Siobhan, but Nikolas feared that it might be a mistake for Lucky to jump into marriage with her. Moments later, Siobhan arrived.

Siobhan immediately sensed that she had walked in on something, so Lucky explained that she might not have to marry him because Nikolas intended to help. Siobhan smiled politely, but she didn't hold out much hope that Nikolas would be successful in securing a visa for her. After Nikolas left, Siobhan announced that she had a surprise for Lucky. A short time later, Siobhan guided a blindfolded Lucky into a quaint little cabin that was reminiscent of the place where she and Lucky had stayed in Ireland. Lucky appreciated her effort to try to distract him from his troubles.

Lucky and Siobhan grabbed a blanket and then settled on the floor. Siobhan confessed that she wished that they could stay there forever, but Lucky was certain that Siobhan's green card would be waiting for them when they returned to town. Siobhan was surprised by Lucky's confidence in Nikolas, so Lucky explained that money talked in Washington. Lucky assured her that, one way or another, everything would work out. Siobhan hoped so because she hated the idea of leaving Lucky.

Lucky offered to cook dinner after he and Siobhan returned to his apartment. Seconds later, Nikolas knocked on the door. Nikolas revealed that his efforts to secure a visa for Siobhan had failed. Siobhan decided to go home to pack. Lucky reminded her that they could get married, so he didn't understand why she acted as if it were over. "It is," Siobhan told him.

At the nurses' station, Steve welcomed Elizabeth back when she reported for duty. Elizabeth assured her brother that she was ready to work, so Steve explained that she would be handling administrative duties for a few weeks to ease her back in. Elizabeth admitted that work was exactly what she needed, but then froze when she saw Jake playing with his toy motorcycle near the elevators. Steve glanced over his shoulder to see what Elizabeth was staring at. Elizabeth's vision cleared as a mother led her little boy onto the elevator.

Steve realized that Elizabeth had mistaken the boy for Jake. Elizabeth didn't deny it. She confessed that many things reminded her of Jake. Elizabeth explained that Jake had been so full of life that she wouldn't be honoring her son if she curled up into a ball, and then tried to block out her memories of him. Besides, she added, Cameron and Aiden needed her to be the best mother that she could be. Steve urged his sister to speak up if she felt overwhelmed by work. He promised that everyone would understand. Elizabeth appreciated Steve's support, but she confessed that it was sometimes too much. She urged Steve to take some time to focus on himself because she needed to do some things on her own.

Nikolas spotted Elizabeth at the nurses' station, so he decided to check on her. Elizabeth explained that Steve wanted her to ease back into the swing of things, so she had been relegated to desk duty for a few weeks. Nikolas reminded her that Steve didn't want her to push herself too hard, but Elizabeth was frustrated. She insisted that no one, except for Maxie, understood that she would never stop dealing with Jake's death. Elizabeth needed to keep moving, so she believed that the first step was to work.

Nikolas wished that he could help Elizabeth, but she assured him that he had done enough by helping out with the children. Nikolas knew that she had a lot to handle, so he didn't mind. Elizabeth reminded him what had happened the last time that she had felt overloaded, but Nikolas refused to let her blame herself for Jake's death. Elizabeth quickly assured Nikolas that she was fine, so she asked him to pass along the message to Steve when Nikolas reported back to her brother.

Nikolas explained that he had stopped by the hospital to tell Steve that he couldn't make a board meeting because of a scheduled conference call with the Justice Department. Nikolas revealed that he was trying to help Siobhan secure a visa, so that Lucky wouldn't have to marry Siobhan.

Later, Lulu was startled to see Elizabeth working near the nurses' station. Elizabeth wondered if Nikolas or Lucky had sent Lulu to check up on her. Lulu assured Elizabeth that she hadn't realized that Elizabeth had been working; however, Lulu was curious how Elizabeth was doing. Elizabeth revealed that it was her first day back at work. Lulu explained that she had stopped by the hospital because Alfred had told her that Nikolas had been scheduled to attend a board meeting.

Elizabeth wondered if everything were okay. "No," Lulu admitted, but she doubted that Elizabeth wanted to hear about it. Elizabeth assured Lulu that she knew about the intervention. Lulu confided that Luke was pretending that he was okay when it was clear that Luke was in trouble. Elizabeth realized that they had all been sitting in a weird holding pattern since Jake's death; they knew that they needed to move forward, but they didn't want to because they were afraid that they'd forget Jake. Elizabeth understood Luke's desire for everything to return to normal.

Elizabeth admitted that it was difficult for her to be back at work because she kept expecting her three boys to be waiting for her in the daycare center. However, then it hit her that Jake was gone. Lulu wished that she could help, but she feared that Elizabeth wouldn't want it. Elizabeth was curious why Lulu thought that. Lulu reminded Elizabeth that Luke had killed Jake, but Elizabeth insisted that it had been an accident. Lulu couldn't understand how Elizabeth could be so forgiving.

Elizabeth reminded Lulu that Luke hadn't been the only person to make a mistake that night. Lulu argued that Elizabeth was a wonderful mother, so she wasn't to blame for the tragedy. Elizabeth confessed that she missed Jake's crooked smile and the way that he would bury his head in her neck when they hugged. Elizabeth realized that her grief would eventually become her new normal, so she needed to focus on putting one foot in front of the other. Elizabeth suddenly stopped mid-sentence when she spotted Jake playing with his toy motorcycle by the elevator. "Oh, God," Elizabeth whispered as Lulu glanced at the elevator and then asked, "What's wrong?"

5/5 At the nurses' station, Elizabeth had a vision of Jake playing with his motorcycle by the elevators. Elizabeth quickly looked away and then apologized to Lulu. Elizabeth explained that she kept seeing Jake everywhere, but she knew that the visions weren't real. Lulu led Elizabeth to some a nearby chair, so that Elizabeth could sit down. Lulu wondered how long Elizabeth had been having visions of Jake. Elizabeth acknowledged that it hadn't been an isolated incident.

Lulu couldn't imagine how Elizabeth dealt with the pain of losing a child. Elizabeth confessed that it was overwhelming at times, but Cameron and Aiden helped her through the most difficult periods because they gave her purpose. Lulu suggested that perhaps Elizabeth was seeing Jake because Elizabeth wasn't ready to let her son go. Elizabeth pulled herself together and then explained that she needed to get back to work. Lulu realized that they'd had their issues, but she wanted Elizabeth to know that she had always considered Elizabeth family. Lulu promised to be available if Elizabeth needed someone to talk to.

Later, Kelly Lee approached Elizabeth at the nurses' station to see how Elizabeth was doing. Elizabeth confessed that it helped to be back at work, and then thanked Kelly for attending Jake's service, sending flowers, and inviting Elizabeth to lunch. Kelly insisted that she wanted to help. Elizabeth admitted that everyone had been incredible to her; she had no idea what she would have done without Steve.

Kelly agreed that Elizabeth had lucked out in the brother department. Elizabeth agreed, but she realized that she couldn't keep leaning on Steve indefinitely. Elizabeth's eyes strayed to the elevator, but then she caught herself. She quickly focused on Kelly again by asking if Kelly needed anything. Kelly was looking for her schedule, so Elizabeth went to the computer to print it up. Elizabeth was surprised when she saw that Sam was scheduled for a fertility reconstruction procedure.

Later, Elizabeth bumped into Jason in the hallway. After they greeted each other, Jason and Elizabeth talked about her returning to work. Elizabeth explained that returning to work had been more difficult than she had anticipated. She was curious how it had been for Jason, but Jason quickly reminded her that their careers were nothing alike, and that he didn't have two children at home. Jason was certain that Elizabeth was doing the usual by trying to take care of everyone but herself.

Elizabeth shifted gears by admitting that she hoped that Sam was taking care of Jason. "She is," Jason assured Elizabeth and then explained that Sam was in the hospital. Elizabeth confessed that she knew about Sam's surgery. Elizabeth revealed that everyone told her not to blame herself for what had happened to Jake, and that she knew that it was impossible for anyone to watch their child one hundred percent of the time.

However, she wondered about the hours prior to the accident because she couldn't remember if she had yelled at Jake earlier that day, if she had hugged him, or if she had told their son that she loved him. Jason assured Elizabeth that Jake knew that she loved him. Elizabeth smiled and then apologized for getting sidetracked, which had become a common occurrence. She wanted Jason to know that she was happy that he and Sam were planning to have a baby because Jason would be an amazing father.

Elizabeth confessed that she would always regret that she had taken away his chance to be a father to Jake. Jason reminded her that they had all been in agreement that it would have been better for Jake to grow up with Lucky. Elizabeth argued that it hadn't been true because the mob hadn't killed Jake. Jason assured Elizabeth that she had given Jake a good life, so Jason didn't want Elizabeth to look for excuses to blame herself for the tragedy.

Elizabeth was curious if, knowing how everything had turned out, it would have been better if she had never told Jason about Jake or if Jason would have preferred to have known from the beginning. "The beginning," Jason answered without hesitation. Elizabeth suspected that things would have turned out differently if she had told Jason from the onset that he was Jake's father. Jason urged Elizabeth not to second-guess herself because she would just drive herself crazy. Elizabeth smiled sadly, but didn't respond. Jason decided to get back to Sam, so Elizabeth wished Sam luck with the procedure and then watched Jason walk away. A short time later, Elizabeth called the police station to talk to Lucky. She was stunned to learn that Lucky was getting married, so she dashed to the elevator with the paternity results in hand.

At Lucky's apartment, Siobhan confessed that she didn't think that she and Lucky should get married because Lucky wasn't in the right frame of mind to make such a life-altering decision while he was grieving for Jake and worried about Luke. Lucky assured her that he knew what he was doing and then turned to Nikolas for support. Nikolas admitted that he agreed with Siobhan. Lucky was adamant that he would marry Siobhan, but Siobhan resented Lucky speaking for her. She suspected that Lucky's determination to marry her stemmed from him feeling powerless about everything in his life.

Siobhan argued that marriage wasn't the answer. Lucky explained that he wasn't ready for Siobhan to leave, so he wanted her to trust him. Nikolas suggested that Lucky and Siobhan could travel around the world, which would allow them to be together and solve Siobhan's visa issue. Nikolas offered to cover all of the expenses, but Lucky declined. Lucky feared that running away from his problems would just put him one step closer to being like Luke. Lucky was also reluctant to leave Cameron behind so soon after Jake's death.

Lucky wondered if Siobhan were ready to return to Ireland. "No," Siobhan admitted. Lucky smiled as he asked her to stay with him. Lucky promised that marriage to him wouldn't be so bad. Siobhan confessed that she feared that it would be really good. Siobhan conceded that they had a relationship, but she reminded Lucky that they wouldn't be marrying for the traditional reasons. Siobhan was worried that Lucky might regret marrying her, but Lucky insisted that she stop trying to protect him from himself. Seconds later, Lucky received a text message from work offering him a shift. Lucky left it up to Siobhan; he could go to work or turn it down to get married. Siobhan thought about it for a moment and then agreed to marry Lucky.

A short time later, Siobhan emerged from the bedroom, wearing a beautiful white dress. She was disappointed to learn that Nikolas had left because it meant that Lucky wouldn't have his brother at his side for the wedding. Lucky apologized for the unconventional wedding, but Siobhan insisted that it suited them. Lucky wished her a happy wedding day, kissed her, and then held the door open for her.

Later, Siobhan and Lucky arrived at the justice of the peace. They were surprised when Nikolas suddenly appeared. Nikolas admitted that he still had reservations about their marriage, but he was determined to be there for his brother. Lucky was surprised when Nikolas produced a set of wedding rings, which Lucky and Siobhan had forgotten to pick up.

5/6 As Jason sat in Sam's hospital room, he dreamed of showing his motorcycle to Jake and making plans for the future with him. Jason awoke as Elizabeth walked in. Jason shared the dream he'd had with Elizabeth, who reminded him that it was Jake's birthday. She suggested that Jason take a ride on his motorcycle to honor his son.

Later, at home, Elizabeth opened a package that Lucky had sent to Jake before the boy's death. It was a motorized mini-motorcycle. As Elizabeth stared at the toy, she imagined Jake running into the room and riding it.

Lucky and Siobhan returned with Nikolas to the justice of the peace. Outside the office, Elizabeth considered whether or not to interrupt with the paternity results. As the ceremony proceeded, Elizabeth reminisced about the day she and Lucky had first gotten married. The justice completed the wedding, and Liz walked away.

Upon returning to Lucky's flat, Lucky, Siobhan, and Nik found a fancily decorated table. Nikolas admitted that he'd asked Alfred to set it up but that he only reluctantly supported Lucky and Siobhan's decision to marry. As they celebrated a toast, Siobhan expressed relief at not having to worry about being deported. After Nikolas left, Siobhan put the cake away. Lucky perused the marriage certificate and noticed the date. The realization that it was Jake's birthday jolted his senses. He discussed his experiences with, and hopes for, Jake. Siobhan told Lucky to hold onto those good memories to honor the boy he'd raised as his son.

Liz arrived with the gift that Lucky had sent Jake. Lucky apologized for having forgotten he'd ordered the toy. Elizabeth said that she couldn't keep it, because Cameron would want it, but that it was Jake's. She began to cry, and Lucky comforted her with an embrace, just as Siobhan walked out of the bedroom wearing a sexy negligee.

5/9 A distraught Elizabeth returned the birthday present that had arrived for Jake from Lucky. Lucky apologized for not remembering to cancel it. Elizabeth was very understanding. As they consoled each other, Siobhan, not knowing that Elizabeth was there, entered wearing her wedding night lingerie. She was embarrassed and apologized. Elizabeth also apologized and left hurriedly.

After Elizabeth left, Lucky apologized to Siobhan for letting family matters get in the way of their life together after promising they would not. Siobhan was not upset. She said that she did not object to Lucky and Elizabeth comforting each other on their son's birthday. Siobhan sliced wedding cake and said that it would serve as birthday cake and they would celebrate Jake's life. Siobhan wanted Lucky to tell her all about Jake, which he did. They laughed as Lucky shared his warm memories about Jake with Siobhan.

Siobhan went to see Elizabeth. Both apologized to the other. Siobhan worried that Elizabeth had been shocked to find out that Siobhan and Lucky had wed. Elizabeth said that she had already known because she had been standing outside at the justice of the peace. She said that she'd heard something in Lucky's voice that had told her that he was marrying Siobhan for reasons other than getting her a green card. Elizabeth said that she could tell that Siobhan mattered to Lucky.

Elizabeth said that it hurt to hear Lucky and Siobhan say vows, but she also knew that Siobhan had something that Lucky desperately needed, and Elizabeth would not take that away from him. Elizabeth went to the kitchen to get cookies out of the oven. Siobhan sat down and picked up a photo from the coffee table. Underneath was the letter from the lab. Siobhan read the lab results and learned that Aiden was Lucky's son.

Lucky caught up with Jason at GH. Lucky said that he had been thinking about Jake, and doing so had made him painfully aware that every moment he had spent with Jake had been at great expense to Jason. He said that he regretted that his own father had been responsible for ending Jake's life. Jason said that he did not hold Lucky responsible for what Luke had done. Lucky said that the hardest thing about death was that life went on. Lucky wondered if he had disrespected Jake by getting married on Jake's birthday. Jason said it was a way to remember Jake. Lucky said that they honored Jake by continuing on and by trying to be good to each other. Jason said he was not there yet. Lucky agreed that neither was he.

5/10 At the hospital, Lucky thanked Jason for listening while Lucky rambled on about Jake. Jason assured Lucky that it wasn't a problem because Jake had been on Jason's mind a lot lately. Lucky confessed that he enjoyed when people talked about Jake because it made Lucky feel as if Jake wouldn't be forgotten. Jason admitted that he felt as if he had gotten to know his son through Lucky. Jason insisted that Lucky had been a great father to Jake. Lucky decided to broach the subject of Luke. Lucky told Jason about the intervention, but conceded that Luke had refused to go to rehab. Lucky explained that Luke was drinking because Luke was drowning in guilt. Lucky warned Jason that Luke wanted to provoke Jason into killing Luke.

Lucky pleaded with Jason not to engage Luke. Jason was infuriated that Luke refused to hold himself accountable for driving drunk. Lucky was curious why Jason didn't just kill Luke, if Jason felt that way. Jason confessed that he was tempted, but Michael wanted to follow in Jason's footsteps, so Jason couldn't afford to make a mistake. Lucky insisted that he was doing his best to help Luke, but Lucky needed more time. Jason refused to make any promises, but he had his hands full trying to help Michael and Abby.

At Elizabeth's house, Siobhan read the results of Aiden's paternity test and then quickly set them back on the table as Elizabeth returned from the kitchen. Siobhan demanded to know why Elizabeth hadn't told Lucky. Elizabeth quickly apologized; she realized that it had been difficult on Siobhan. Elizabeth promised that she didn't judge Siobhan. Siobhan had no idea what Elizabeth was talking about until Elizabeth acknowledged that Siobhan had a right to be upset that Elizabeth had interrupted Siobhan's wedding night.

Elizabeth confessed that she hadn't been able to accept that Lucky cared about Siobhan until Elizabeth had heard Lucky's vows. Elizabeth assured Siobhan that she fully supported the marriage. Siobhan thanked Elizabeth and then quickly excused herself. A short time later, Lucky stopped by to check on Elizabeth. Lucky realized that Elizabeth might have been shocked to discover that he had married Siobhan. Elizabeth assured Lucky that he didn't have to explain anything to her.

The conversation then drifted to Jake's birthday. Elizabeth was certain that Jake would have loved the motorcycle that Lucky had bought for their son. Lucky assured Elizabeth that he loved Cameron and that his marriage to Siobhan wouldn't change his relationship with Cam. Lucky sensed that something was troubling Elizabeth, so he invited her to speak her mind. Elizabeth confessed that she had something to tell him and then glanced at the paternity results. However, Elizabeth couldn't find the courage to tell Lucky that Aiden was his son, so she admitted that she had known about the wedding before she had arrived at the apartment. Elizabeth explained that she had learned about his plans to marry Siobhan when she had called the police station earlier that evening.

Lucky was surprised to hear that Elizabeth had gone to the justice of the peace and had stood on the other side of the door as Lucky had recited his vows. Elizabeth admitted that Lucky had sounded happy, and like he had something to look forward to. Lucky felt terrible for the timing of his wedding, but Elizabeth insisted that she just wanted Lucky to be happy. Elizabeth then revealed that she was trying to move forward, but it was difficult because she profoundly missed Jake every time she saw one of his toys.

Lucky admitted that he was also dealing with painful reminders of losing Jake, such as when he had found a Christmas card that Jake had made for him. Elizabeth smiled sadly and then changed the subject by revealing that Siobhan had stopped by to explain about the wedding, and to apologize. Elizabeth insisted that it had been very thoughtful of Siobhan. Lucky was glad that Elizabeth and Siobhan had talked. Elizabeth admitted that Siobhan genuinely cared about Lucky, so it made Elizabeth happy that Lucky had someone like Siobhan in his life.

Later, Lucky arrived home to find Siobhan waiting for him. Siobhan revealed that there was something that Lucky needed to know about Elizabeth.

5/11 At the apartment, Siobhan couldn't find the words to tell Lucky about Aiden's paternity. Lucky sensed that something was wrong, so he wondered if it was about Elizabeth. Siobhan revealed that she had gone to Elizabeth's house to explain about the wedding, and to apologize. Lucky was certain that Elizabeth had appreciated the effort, but Siobhan insisted that there had been more to it. Lucky confessed that Elizabeth had told him about the visit. Lucky then admitted that Elizabeth had gone to the justice of the peace, which had ultimately given Elizabeth closure. Lucky thought that Elizabeth was genuinely okay with their marriage, and wanted Lucky to be happy, which he was. Lucky wanted to stop talking about his ex-wife, but Siobhan had one more question. She was curious if Lucky would have stayed with Elizabeth if Aiden had been his son. Lucky didn't see the point in discussing it, since Aiden was Nikolas' child.

Siobhan reminded Lucky that Jake had been alive the last time that they had talked about it, so she was curious if anything had changed, because it seemed that Elizabeth needed Lucky more than ever. Lucky conceded that the tragedy had made him and Elizabeth closer, but he thought that was natural when two parents lost a child. However, Lucky was clear that it didn't mean that he and Elizabeth would be reconciling. According to Lucky, too much had happened. Lucky confessed that he had spent years trying to make Elizabeth the center of his universe, but it had never worked. He acknowledged that he had once had a deep connection with Elizabeth because they had helped each other through some difficult periods in their lives, but over the years, things had changed.

Lucky explained that they had ended up hurting each other, so they had been left with too many fragmented pieces to ever be able to put things back together. Lucky had never realized how much of himself he had closed off until he had met Siobhan. Lucky admitted that getting together with her had been a complete surprise, but the timing had been perfect because it had pulled him out of what his life had become. Siobhan reminded Lucky that he had a good life with lots of friends and two amazing children.

Lucky confessed that he would never trade any of that, but there had been a lot of devastation and regret. Lucky insisted that Siobhan was unlike anyone that he had ever been with; she was self-reliant, and knew how to navigate through a crisis, but at the same time she was vulnerable and present with what was going on. Siobhan smiled as she confessed that she only knew the amazing man before her, not the sad and regretful Lucky that he had described. Siobhan suggested that they get back to celebrating their wedding night and then kissed her husband. Lucky and Siobhan made love. Afterwards, Lucky got dressed and then left, while Siobhan stood silently in the doorway, watching him.

Later, Lucky bumped into Luke on the pier. Luke was surprised when Lucky greeted him instead of continuing on his way, so Luke was hopeful that they could work things out. Luke admitted that he missed Lucky. Lucky hoped that Luke missed him enough to go to rehab. Lucky then revealed that the only reason that he had stopped to talk to Luke was because Lucky was concerned that Luke would do something stupid to get himself killed.

Luke resented the suggestion that he was suicidal, but Lucky reminded Luke of Luke's attempt to douse himself with gasoline and then set fire to the Haunted Star as well as Luke's attempt to provoke Jason. Lucky suggested that it was "sick twisted justice" for Luke to have the father of the boy that Luke had killed end Luke's life. Luke argued that Lucky was Jake's father, not Jason. Luke admitted that he would never be able to tell Lucky just how deeply sorry he was for taking Jake away from Lucky. Lucky suggested that the next time Luke had thoughts of suicide that Luke think about Lulu and Tracy. Lucky hoped that Luke got the help that he needed, and then turned his life around.

5/13 Liz enters Josselyn’s hospital room to find Jason holding her and reading to her. Jason and Elizabeth discussed Jake's death. Elizabeth explained how sorry she was that Jason hadn't had the opportunity to get to know their son. She pointed out that knowing Josslyn would have a childhood because of Jake's kidneys was the only thing that made the pain bearable. Elizabeth told Steven that she was thankful Lucky had convinced her to go ahead with the organ donation so that Josslyn could survive. Liz thanked her brother for having made the decision easier for her. Steven told Elizabeth how proud he was of her for being so brave at such a difficult time.

5/17 Outside of Kelly's, Siobhan warned Lucky that the Immigration Department wanted to question them about their marriage. Lucky wasn't surprised, so he and Siobhan sat down to quiz each other about things that they thought the Immigration Department would ask. Lucky laughingly accused Siobhan of snoring, so she warned him not to mention it, or they would have their first marital tiff. Lucky chuckled and then asked if she knew what his favorite sandwich was. Siobhan guessed wrong, so Lucky revealed that it was bologna on rye bread. According to Lucky, Luke had introduced Lucky to it.

Lucky smiled wistfully as he confessed that he had a lot of fond memories of his father, so he regretted that he had been forced to cut Luke out of his life. Siobhan reminded Lucky that things would change when Luke went to rehab. "If," Lucky reminded her, and then revealed that the only bright spot in his life was their marriage. Seconds later, Lucky's phone rang. Lucky noticed that it was Elizabeth's number, so he answered the call. Cameron begged his father to get to the house because, "Mom is sick."

At the Webber house, Elizabeth told Cam to brush his teeth before bed as she carried a load of laundry upstairs. Cam groaned and then jumped out from the sofa to look out the window. Cam ran to the door, unlocked it, and then dashed outside. Elizabeth returned to the living room to find the front door wide open. She screamed Cam's name and then raced outside.

Later, Lucky knocked on Elizabeth's front door several times before Elizabeth answered it. Elizabeth seemed surprised to see Lucky. Lucky told Elizabeth about Cam's phone call. Elizabeth revealed that she had panicked when she had found the front door open, but she had found Cam standing in the side yard. Elizabeth tells Lucky that she had dragged Cam inside, yelled at him, sent Cam to his room, and then gone to her room to cry (Note these scenes were not shown, Elizabeth tells Lucky about it happening but they didn’t actually have her yell at the little boy).

Elizabeth tells him that had no idea that Cam had heard her crying, so she hadn't realized that he had called Lucky. Lucky imagined that it had been a terrifying moment for Elizabeth, so he understood her reaction to the situation. Elizabeth asked Lucky to make certain that Cam was okay and to reassure their son that Cam's mother hadn't completely lost her mind. Lucky didn't want Elizabeth to be so hard on herself because she hadn't failed anyone. Lucky explained that unexpected reminders of Jake's tragedy were inevitable, so all they could do was try to keep going. Elizabeth smiled in gratitude and then joined Lucky when he went to talk to Cam.

Afterwards, Elizabeth thanked Lucky for being such a great father to Cam. She confided that Cam missed Jake a lot, so Lucky promised to spend some extra time with Cam. Elizabeth was determined to do her best to hold it together because she didn't want Cam to worry about her. Lucky urged Elizabeth to call him if she needed someone to talk to. Elizabeth appreciated the offer, but she reminded him that he had just gotten married.

Lucky assured Elizabeth that Siobhan would understand, but Elizabeth didn't think that it would be fair to his new wife. Lucky didn't think that it was fair that their son was gone, and that they were expected to go on without Jake. Elizabeth admitted that she had no idea how to do that. Lucky confessed that he didn't, either, so he suggested that they take it one day at a time and then hugged her.

5/18 Lucky dropped by to make certain that Anthony understood the terms of parole. Anthony immediately feigned confusion, but Lucky didn't buy the "crazy old man routine." Anthony acknowledged that he might be old and crazy, but he never got drunk, climbed behind the wheel of a car, and then killed his son's child. Lucky grabbed Anthony's shirtfront and then threatened to drag Anthony back to jail personally if Anthony uttered another word about Jake.

Anthony pretended to whimper in fright, but Lucky wasn't moved. Johnny finally stepped between them, but Anthony continued to goad Lucky by suggesting that Luke had received special treatment by the police. Eventually, Lucky reached his breaking point, so he punched Anthony in the face. Anthony went flying backwards. Johnny immediately apologized for his father's comments, but suggested that Lucky contact their attorney the next time that Lucky wanted to talk to them. After Lucky stormed out, Johnny blasted Anthony for tormenting Lucky about Jake's death. Anthony showed no remorse for his cruel remarks as he burst out laughing. Anthony explained that they had leverage over Lucky because Anthony had known what buttons to push.
