List of Jason & Liz 2009 Jason & Liz 2010 Jason & Liz 2011 Dvd #14B 4/29/11 Maxie questions if maybe it isn’t too soon for Jason to be trying to have another baby with Sam, too soon after Jake’s death Jason & Liz 2012 This edit was a challenge to do and have make sense as Jason and LIz only have brief interactions in some storylines such as Biotoxin, after the Bus Crash. I did include the Carnival scenes as Jake was hurt but their interaction together was limited. I included the Ski Trip Bus Crash as Jason rushes to the rescue and Liz is worried as Cameron is on the bus (but its only a few minutes to show what happened as Jason later asks about the child). I included quite a bit of the aftermath of Jake’s death, both Liz’s grief and Jason’s grief, especially as they had visions of seeing the child. I struggled quite a bit with what scenes to leave in and keep it more to Jason & Liz and adding in enough scenes for it to make sense. I did include Monica confronting first Jason and then Liz about not knowing Jake was her grandchild. I kept in one of the Anna & Liz series of scenes that happened in spring 2012, but did not include the earlier one in March. I’m pretty comfortable with the 2009-2011 time frame, deciding which scenes to include from late spring/early summer 2012 has been really difficult as SO much has happened! Most of it involving Jason & Sam, but he often turned to Liz for comfort and support and that kept the viewer filled in. I did include some of the Jason & Sam break up scenes, as he would talk to Liz, then argue with Sam, then talk to Liz again. I did not include the whole Sam giving birth in the storm, Jason having John beaten up, Todd switching the babies. That was a very long sequence that really didn’t have any immediate impact on Jason & Liz. This was a hard choice to make, one I’m still not sure about....though I did include the Jason & Carly conversation where he fillled in all the details and it is transposed against Sam in the hospital aruging with Liz at the same time. Note: I do have the entire Biotoxin storyline, all of the Carnival, and the Bus Crash. I do have ALL of Jason’s storyline edited and I recommend the Jason & Sam #32 as this was a great storyline. So this Jason & Liz #14 is not meant to be a complete edit for his character during this time frame. I have Jonathan’s Return done which includes a LOT of Liz as well for anyone who would like more of the Liz storyline 2009-2011. Jason & Liz #14 September 18 - December 17, 2008: 8 hour original edit Dvd #14A Patrick rushed off to OR to try to stop the surgery taking place there. Epiphany dialed rapidly, but no one in the operating room noticed the flashing phone light. Monica, Matt, Elizabeth, and Leyla had Earl prepped when the blood arrived. Patrick took the stairs as Matt made the first incision. Jason and Spinelli rushed to GH. Patrick reached the OR as Matt opened Earl Bragg. Before Patrick could warn them about the danger, blood splattered the surgical team. Then Leyla, Matt, Monica, and Elizabeth crumpled to the floor. While Patrick banged on the observation window, hoping to stop the surgery, pandemonium broke out in the Operating Room. As the doctors and nurses collapsed, Patrick was powerless to do anything but watch. Elizabeth made it to the door and tried to get out. She was overcome before she could do more than open the door a crack. Patrick rushed to the nearest phone to call for help. When he spotted Sam, he asked her why no one had gotten through to the doctors in the OR. Sam said that Epiphany had tried, but she had been unsuccessful. While Patrick reached for the phone, Sam started to go to the aid of those who were trapped in the OR. Patrick stopped her. He reminded her that she was just as susceptible the poison in the room as everyone else. Jason was positive that Bragg was the man that Rayner was looking for. Jason went on to tell him that when he called Patrick to tell him that his patient could be carrying poison, Patrick had yelled for someone to call the OR to stop the surgery. Rayner was stunned. He realized that if they opened Bragg up, the poison could become airborne and kill everyone. As soon as Jason arrived at the hospital, he tried to get answers from Epiphany. Unfortunately, Epiphany had no idea what was going on. She told Jason that she had tried to call the OR but had not been able to reach anyone. Jason told Epiphany to expect a call from the FBI then dashed off to the OR. When Jason caught up to Patrick, Patrick filled him in on what had happened after he had last spoken to Jason. Jason called Rayner then handed the phone to Patrick so that he could update the agent on what had happened. Rayner told Patrick that it was imperative that no one left the OR. The toxin was airborne and could contaminate anyone who came into contact with it. Spinelli arrived at the hospital shortly afterwards. Jason instructed him to find out where the air ducts from the OR led. While Spinelli worked on that, Patrick donned a biohazard suit so that he could enter the OR. The first person he found was Elizabeth. He picked her up, carried her out and gently laid her down on a gurney. Jason was rattled when he saw Elizabeth's unconscious body. A quick check confirmed that she was alive but in critical condition. Medical personnel rushed her off to the Intensive Care Unit. 2/2/09 Elizabeth woke up in ICU as Jason waited outside the room. Epiphany came out and told him that Elizabeth's condition was critical. Epiphany tells him that her lungs are filling with fluid. Jason moans that she is drowning. 2/4/09 Jason stops by Elizabeth’s hospital room but when he sees Lucky is sitting by her bed, he stops outside. As he stands outside of sight, he listens to their heartfelt stroll down memory lane. 4/2/09 Jason went to Mercy Hospital at Patrick's request. Patrick was worried about Robin's continued absence; he had hoped that Jason knew where Robin was. Jason told Patrick that he had not heard from Robin. Patrick admitted that he knew Robin had turned to Jason about her recent troubles. Patrick asked Jason to tell him what Robin had told Jason. Jason refused to betray Robin's confidence. Jason became distracted when he saw Elizabeth approach Patrick. Elizabeth seemed momentarily shaken when she saw Jason. She quickly pulled herself together to focus on her work. Elizabeth told Patrick that the husband of the young mother, involved in the accident, had revealed that his wife suffered from acute postpartum depression. After Jason left, Patrick apologized for suggesting to Liz that Jason was involved with Robin. She says thanks that is an image she would like to get out of her head. 4/30/09 As the two drank shots of tequila with beer chasers, Nikolas realized that it was the first time that he and Elizabeth had gone out drinking together. Elizabeth confided that she had spent several nights, out with the girls, at Jake's. As they continued to reminisce, Elizabeth revealed that there were times that she wished she could return to the past. Nikolas was surprised by the admission. He thought that Elizabeth was happy and had a wonderful life. Elizabeth agreed that it was great, but she had no one to share it with. Elizabeth talked about Lucky and Jason. She told Nikolas that her split from Lucky had been painful. When she and Jason had ended things, Elizabeth was left feeling heartbroken and lonely. Elizabeth admitted that a part of her would love to get back together with Lucky. However, another part of her was terrified to go down that road again because they had never managed to make it work. Elizabeth was convinced that if she and Lucky tried again, they would end up crashing and burning. Elizabeth didn't want to risk putting her children through that. 5/6/09 Elizabeth was surprised when she walked into Michael's room to find Jason alone with Michael. She apologized for intruding. Jason was relieved when he learned that Elizabeth would be part of Michael's surgical team. Elizabeth and Jason began talking about Jake. Jason hoped that his choice to walk away from Jake had spared his son from a fate similar to Michael's. Elizabeth reminded Jason that he wasn't responsible for what had happened to Michael. She also told Jason that giving up Jake had been a selfless act on Jason's part. Elizabeth asked Jason if he remembered what the significance of the following day was. Jason smiled in answer. Elizabeth thought it would be a wonderful miracle if Michael woke up on Jake's birthday. 6/5/09 Elizabeth tells Jason that Michael has gone missing from GH. 6/8/09 Jason returns Michael to the hospital and sees Elizabeth at the nurse’s station 6/11/09 Michael freaks out on Elizabeth and Jason calms him down. Jason became alarmed when he approached Michael's hospital room and heard Michael screaming. Jason ran into the room while Michael ordered Elizabeth to leave. Jason had to physically restrain Michael as he is throwing things at her. When Elizabeth reached for the phone, to request a sedative, Jason asked Elizabeth for the opportunity to deal with Michael himself. Elizabeth hesitated briefly, but then capitulated. After Elizabeth left the room, Michael punched Jason in the face. Jason was momentarily stunned. However, Jason quickly recovered and managed to subdue Michael without further incident. As the fury drained out of Michael, he turned to Jason with a look of anguish. Michael didn't understand why he couldn't control his temper. Jason holds him and calms him. 6/26/09 Lucky was annoyed when he realized that Lulu had invited Ethan to a family get-together. Lulu took the opportunity to introduce Cameron and Jake to their new uncle. Lucky didn't appreciate Lulu blindsiding him. After the children were settled down to play, Lucky confronted his sister. Elizabeth reminded Lucky that Lulu's heart had been in the right place. Lulu accused Lucky of being prejudiced against Ethan then stormed away with Ethan in tow. As Elizabeth and Lucky turned back to the children, they noticed that Jason was with them. Jason scooped up Jake and walked towards them. As he handed Jake to Elizabeth, she asked him how Michael was doing. Jake babbled away while the adults tried to talk. Jason smiled at his son. Before he walked away, Jason asked Lucky to take care of Jake. Lucky nodded that he would. When Jason was gone, Lucky asked if Elizabeth was okay. She seemed a bit unsettled, but she assured Lucky that she was fine. 7/23/09 When Elizabeth spotted Jason in the hospital's emergency room, she assumed he was there because of Carly. Jason was surprised when Elizabeth informed him that Carly hadn't yet arrived. Before Jason could question Elizabeth further, the paramedics raced through the doors. Carly remained unconscious as she was rushed to an examination bay. Elizabeth accompanied Carly while Jax and Morgan filled Jason in on what had happened. 7/27/09 Jason was headed to Carly's room when Jax stopped him. Jason gave Jax an update on Michael and said he needed to get details from Carly about the car she saw. Jax said Kelly had advised him to let Carly get stronger. Kelly had advised keeping the news about Michael from Carly until the following day. Carly was watching TV in her room when she saw a news item about Michael. Her monitors went off at the nurses' station. Jax, Jason, Epiphany, and Elizabeth rushed to her room. When they got there. Carly was already taking deep breaths and calming herself down. Jason went to her side and told her that Michael was safe at the Quartermaines'. She told him that despite Michael's confession, he was not the driver of the car she saw. She said that she knew Michael's car and the one that ran Claudia off the road was definitely not Michael's. 9/8/09 Sam and Jason walked into the carnival, and Sam talked about how much she had missed all the fun carnivals were. Jason and Sam approached the game Coleman was running, and Sam mentioned she wanted a bear. Jason paid Coleman and started to shoot. After numerous attempts with the rigged gun, Jason pulled out his own gun. Coleman decided to avert a disaster and handed Jason the bear that Sam wanted. Jason and Sam walked away from the game but stopped when Jason saw Liz with Jake on the merry-go-round. Lucky was snapping pictures, and they seemed to make a happy family. When the ride was over, Jake started to run away from Liz. She yelled out to him, and Jason watched the scene from a distance. 9/9/09 As Edward drove to the carnival, he suddenly clutched his chest and then collapsed. The car crashed through the carnival and mowed down people and rides in its wake. One of the first causalities was Andrea Floyd, who had been arguing with Alexis just moments before. As Morgan stood frozen watching Edward's car careen toward him, Dominic sprang into action. He managed to shove Morgan to safety before Edward's car hit Dominic. Elsewhere at the carnival, Jason, Elizabeth, and Lucky stood frozen in horror as Jake wandered off seconds before Edward's car tore through the carnival. Jason, Elizabeth, and Lucky raced to the area where they'd last seen Jake. As they frantically dug through the wreckage, they heard a baby cry out. It was Jake. Elizabeth snatched her son up in her arms the moment they found him. Paramedics quickly loaded Jake onto a gurney and then raced him the hospital. Elizabeth and Lucky followed Jake. Jason remained behind, wandering through the devastation in a state of stunned disbelief while the injured crowd slowly made their way to medical aid. At the hospital, Jason stood in the hallway as Jake was wheeled away for tests. Inside an examination room, the doctor explained to Lucky and Elizabeth that Jake's pupils were reactive, but that he had sustained some head trauma. When Elizabeth pushed for more information, the doctor admitted that it was possible that Jake had suffered a skull fracture. Lucky insisted on accompanying Jake for the tests. Elizabeth agreed; she had to call Audrey to let her know what had happened. After Lucky and the doctor left, Elizabeth sat down on the bed and then broke down in tears. Jason walked in moments later. When Elizabeth saw Jason, she tearfully told him about their son's injuries. Jason sat down next to Elizabeth, quietly put his arm around her, and then held her while she cried. Later, Elizabeth returned to the room. Jason was still there. She apologized for falling apart, but Jason waved the apology away; he was just as worried about Jake. The doctor popped his head into the room to ask Elizabeth to meet him in his office, where Lucky was waiting. Elizabeth promised to update Jason on Jake's condition as soon as possible. After Elizabeth left, Jason stepped out into the hallway just as Jake was being wheeled by. Sam appeared moments later. In Jake's hospital room, Lucky was frustrated because the doctor had not updated them on Jake's progress. Elizabeth was hopeful that the lack of news boded well. Meanwhile, Jason stood in the hallway watching them through the room's window. Sam stood next to Jason. She offered to get Jason anything that he needed, but Jason declined. Jason continued to stare into his son's hospital room. 9/10/09 Outside of Jake's hospital room, Jason vowed to Sam that whoever hurt Jake would not get away with it. Sam told Jason that the tests were inconclusive about Jake, so maybe he did not have a skull fracture. She explained that the test would have said skull fracture if that was what he had. Sam told Jason that maybe Jake had a concussion or something less. Jason watched as Lucky and Elizabeth sat with Jake and waited on news from the doctors. Lulu approached and wanted an update on Jake. Jason told her that the doctors had told them to just wait. Lulu told Jason that it was awful that Edward was driving the car. Jason was surprised to find out that his grandfather had caused the accident. Lulu said that she'd heard that Edward had suffered a heart attack and was in emergency surgery. Sam said that was awful and asked Jason if Edward knew that Jake was Jason's son. He said no. Sam said that it was good, because she thought that Edward would be very upset to know that he hurt his great-grandson. Lulu walked inside the room and watched as Liz and Lucky sat with Jake. Elizabeth told Jake that he was a brave little boy and that his mommy and daddy loved him very much. Lucky looked lovingly at Liz, who was lying in bed cuddling Jake. Jason watched through the window of Jake's room and observed the three. Sam went to Jason and put her hand on his to comfort him. Lucky emerged from the room and told Sam, Jason, and Lulu that Jake just had a concussion and some bumps and bruises. Lucky said that Jake would be kept overnight for observation. Sam said that was a good idea. Lucky told Jason that he thought Jason should know. Jason thanked Lucky and so did Sam. Lulu said she would go tell everyone that Jake was okay. Sam thanked her, and Jason let out a huge sigh of relief. Jason and Sam sat in the waiting room. Jason said that he did not know if he should stay in the hospital, since he wasn't hurt, he wasn't helping anyone, and Jake was okay. Sam said that Edward was not okay. Jason said he needed to know why the accident had happened. He wanted to kill the driver before he knew it was Edward. He needed to know if it was a heart attack or if Edward was drunk. Jason expressed his sadness that Edward did not even know that one of the people he injured was his great-grandson. Then he said that it would not help Edward to know that. Jason said that he felt sorry for Edward, that the accident might be Edward's fault if he had been drinking, but that Edward had lost too much already. Elizabeth sat beside Jake's bed. She heard a noise and went outside the room. Nikolas ran up to her and they hugged. He kissed her on the cheek and she kissed him on the mouth. Jason walked around the corner and witnessed this kiss and embrace. 9/11/09 In the hospital corridor, Jason witnessed a passionate kiss between Nikolas and Elizabeth. Jason was gone by the time Elizabeth pulled away from the kiss. Elizabeth looked around as she pointed out to Nikolas that anyone, including Lucky, could have seen them. She told Nikolas that their behavior was crazy and that it couldn't continue. Nikolas didn't think that anyone had seen them, but Elizabeth didn't care. She insisted that they had to stop acting on their attraction. According to Elizabeth, they always claimed to be sorry, yet they continued to engage in risky behavior. Jason told Sam that he had gone to check on Jake. As he approached the room, Jason had seen Elizabeth and Nikolas kissing. Sam seemed surprised; she suggested that perhaps it had been an innocent kiss after learning that Jake was going to be okay. Jason clarified that it had been much more than that. Sam felt bad for Lucky; she also realized that it couldn't be easy for Jason. Jason admitted that Elizabeth had a right to be with whom she chose. However, Jason was concerned about the impact on his son! Jason reminded Sam of Sonny's many custody battles; he never wanted that for Jake. Sam suggested that Lucky loved the boys enough not to put them through that kind of emotional turmoil. Sam was confident that Elizabeth and Lucky could keep the boys isolated from their problems. Jason realized that he didn't have any rights as Jake's father, so he had no say in Jake's life. Lucky went to Jake's hospital room, where Elizabeth was playing with Jake. While a nurse checked Jake, Lucky ushered Elizabeth to the hallway. Lucky confessed that the disaster at the carnival had put things into perspective for him. Lucky told Elizabeth that she and the boys were everything to him and he wanted to do something about it. Elizabeth seemed uncomfortable with the direction of the conversation; she cautioned Lucky that it had been an emotional night. Lucky refused to be deterred. He insisted that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with Elizabeth. To Elizabeth's shock, Lucky proposed marriage. 10/12/09 Lucky told Sam that he and Elizabeth were getting remarried, He apologized to Sam for never really giving their relationship a chance because he had never let go of his love for Elizabeth. She told him it was okay. She also said that he had helped her through a tough time. When Lucky asked about her relationship to Jason, she denied having one. Lucky helped Sam exit the building, but did not notice Jason, who stayed behind to check on Devlin's evidence box. 12/8/09 Rebecca accused Elizabeth of using her children. Elizabeth pointed out that Rebecca didn't have any room to cast judgment, given her own checkered past. Rebecca wondered if Elizabeth would have slept with Nikolas if Emily had lived. Elizabeth insisted that the affair would never have happened, but Rebecca didn't believe her. Rebecca claimed that Nikolas and Elizabeth were "faithless sex-obsessed pigs," so it was inevitable that they would have been drawn to each other. Rebecca believed that Lucky deserved to know the truth. Later, Elizabeth fell asleep on the sofa. A nightmare of a judge granting custody of Cameron to Lucky and Rebecca plagued her sleep. The judge then granted custody of Jake to Jason and Sam. Elizabeth was devastated as her children were taken away from her. When she woke up, Cam was standing next to the sofa. He was concerned when he realized that his mother was crying. Jason & Liz 2010
2/10/10 Sam was sitting at the counter in Kelly's when Elizabeth entered the diner. As the waitress fetched Elizabeth's pick-up order, Elizabeth admitted to feeling awkward standing next to Sam. Elizabeth was surprised when Sam insisted that she wasn't in any position to judge Elizabeth; she could see how much Elizabeth was hurting. Elizabeth thanked Sam for her understanding. Elizabeth imagined that Sam could empathize with Elizabeth's situation. Elizabeth pointed out that Sam had slept with Ric, Sam's stepfather. According to Elizabeth, it wasn't much different than Elizabeth's affair with Lucky's brother. Sam seemed annoyed at the reminder. Elizabeth quickly explained that she hadn't brought it up to hurt Sam. Elizabeth confessed that she was in awe of Sam because Sam had managed to find a way to get Jason to forgive Sam for what she had done. Elizabeth wanted to know how Sam had done it. Sam acknowledged that she had made mistakes, but she didn't think it was the right time or place for them to discuss it. Elizabeth recalled how Sam had stood by while Jake had been kidnapped and then later when Sam had hired goons to terrorize Elizabeth and the children in the park. Elizabeth was desperate to know how Sam had found a way to be forgiven for the unforgivable. Sam realized that Elizabeth was frantically searching for an answer. Sam explained that one day she decided that she no longer wanted to live with the anger, resentment, and guilt. Sam had started taking care of herself and making amends with the people that she had hurt. Eventually, Sam had learned to respect herself. It had taken time. Sam didn't think that things would have worked out with Jason if Sam hadn't gone through her journey of self-discovery. "How nice for you," Elizabeth responded and then walked out. At Kelly's, Elizabeth froze when she spotted two men sitting at the counter. Elizabeth became distraught as she imagined them turning to look at her while whispering, "whore" and "slut," and suggesting that she was easy. Upset, Elizabeth turned and then ran out of the diner just as Jason arrived. Jason reached out to Elizabeth when he noticed how agitated she was. Concerned, Jason asked if she was okay. Elizabeth cried, "Okay with what? You sleeping with me? Is that why you're here? You want to talk about it?" Jason pulled Elizabeth into his arms and then gently soothed her while she cried. 2/11/10 Outside of Kelly's, Jason gently soothed Elizabeth as she cried in his arms. Elizabeth didn't know what was wrong with her, but she insisted that she was a bad person. Jason assured Elizabeth that there was nothing wrong with her. Jason believed that Elizabeth was just going through a "tough time." As Jason rocked Elizabeth in his arms, Lucky walked up. Lucky took one look at the ex-lovers and then snidely observed, "Gotta love the timing." Jason slowly lowered his arms as Elizabeth took a step back. Lucky accused Elizabeth of being "quite the rebound girl." Lucky couldn't believe that it had taken Elizabeth less than two weeks to run to Jason, a man who was supposed to be too dangerous. Lucky cruelly suggested that Cam and Jake's safety had been thrown to the wayside for Elizabeth's "incessant need to play the victim." Jason warned Lucky that he had gone too far. Lucky ignored Jason to continue throwing harsh accusations at Elizabeth. Finally Jason ordered Lucky to stop. Elizabeth stepped forward; she knew that she had hurt Lucky, but she hadn't realized just how much until that moment. Elizabeth had seen Lucky devastated and angry before, but she had never known him to be so cruel. Elizabeth thanked Jason for trying to help her and then walked away. Jason agreed with Elizabeth; the Lucky that Jason had known was slowly disappearing before Jason's eyes. Lucky had always been someone who had treated women with respect, not someone who bullied them. "The guy who yelled at and humiliated Elizabeth is not Lucky," Jason insisted. "I don't see anyone else here, " Lucky sarcastically responded. Lucky found it ironic that a professional killer who had sneaked around with another man's wife and had lied about a child would try to lecture Lucky. Jason accepted that he had made certain choices about his job. Jason had compromised a piece of himself every day that he had lied about Jake. Jason implored Lucky not to make the same mistake. Lucky suggested that Jason had been better off following the car accident. Back then Jason had been given a "clean slate" and he hadn't felt any emotion. Lucky would give anything not to feel. 2/18/10 At Shadybrooke, Elizabeth wandered to the window. As Elizabeth stared out, she imagined herself sitting in a rocking chair in a catatonic state. In the vision, Elizabeth saw Jason, Lucky, and Nikolas standing before her. They looked down at Elizabeth with pity as they discussed the children. Jason & Liz 2011
1/3/11 Carly got a call from Morgan, who was on a chartered bus bound for a ski trip. He suddenly exclaimed that something was wrong. Carly heard the other passengers screaming, and the sounds of a crash before she lost her connection. She tried to reach Morgan, and Jason tried to reach Michael, but there was no answer on either phone. Carly and Jason made plans to go search for the bus. At the bus crash site, bodies were scattered over the snowy landscape. Most had been thrown from the bus and plummeted into a deep ravine. Steve was the first to awake. He had minor injuries, but nothing life-threatening. He found Cameron who was also uninjured. 1/5/11 Elizabeth brings Jake to the hospital and runs into Jason. Jason couldn't seem to take his eyes off of Jake as he asked Elizabeth how Cam was doing. Elizabeth assured Jason and Sam that Cam was fine. Elizabeth noticed how Jason was looking at Jake, so she asked Jake if he remembered Jason and Sam. Jake smiled sweetly at Jason. Jason looked crushed after Elizabeth walked away. Elizabeth saw Jason and Sam at the nurses' station. Jason was pleasantly surprised when Elizabeth asked them to watch Jake while she delivered Cam's cookie. Elizabeth handed Jake to Sam and then walked away. Sam set Jake down on a nearby gurney where Jake proceeded to play with his toy motorcycles. Jason asked Jake about the toys, which prompted Jake to talk excitedly about his love for motorcycles. Jason confessed that he had a real motorcycle. Jake smiled and then invited Jason to play with him. Jason appeared choked up with emotion as he spent some precious time with his son. "Hallelujah," performed by Jeff Buckley highlighted a music montage of various PCers, including Jason playing with his son. 2/10/11 Sam arrived at the hospital for an appointment with Dr. Lee. Elizabeth checked the computer to confirm the appointment while Sam admired the Valentine's Day cards that Cam and Jake had made for their mother. Sam couldn't believe that Jake was old enough to write. Elizabeth smiled with pride, but then became confused when she noticed that Sam had been scheduled for a pregnancy test. Elizabeth started to make a correction to the computer notes, but Sam confirmed that it was correct. Elizabeth told Sam which room to go to and then admitted that she hoped that the test turned out the way that Sam wanted it to. Later, Sam asked Elizabeth to call her with the results of the pregnancy test as soon as they were back. Elizabeth let Sam know that the lab wasn't busy, so it shouldn't take long. Jason received a call from Elizabeth. Elizabeth explained that Sam had asked Elizabeth to call with the results of the pregnancy test. 2/14/11 Sam cried when she found out that she was not pregnant. Sam insisted that she was okay. She said that she knew that their life was not set up for children, but she said that a part of her was disappointed with the outcome of the test. She said that she did not want the bother of the fertility procedure when there were no guarantees that she could get pregnant after the procedure was completed. Sam said that all she wanted to do was enjoy the meal that Jason had made especially for her. 3/18/11 Jake played with his toys while Elizabeth began to read the results of the Aiden's paternity test. She noticed the front door was open. Elizabeth called out Jake's name and then noticed that someone had opened the front door. Elizabeth immediately raced to the door. A second later, she stared in horror as she screamed, "Jake!" Lucky got a phone call from Elizabeth who told him that Jake had been rushed to the emergency room after he'd been hit by a car. Lucky then called Jason and let him know that Jake had been hit by a car. Jason and Michael rushed to the hospital. Lucky, Siobhan, and Luke were the first to arrive at the hospital to meet with Elizabeth, who apologized for having let Jake out of her sight. Jason and Michael showed up moments later and approached Robin. She broke the news that Jake was in critical condition. Steve let Jason know he was aware that Jason was Jake's father. Steve asked Jason, for Elizabeth's sake, that Jason make himself scarce. Jason tried to keep his composure as he left Sam a voicemail. Afterward, he sat, alone, fidgeting with his phone, visibly upset. While Lucky comforted Elizabeth, Luke asked Siobhan to be there to support Lucky. Elizabeth berated herself for having been so careless, but Lucky assured her that it wasn't her fault. Steve let them know that Patrick would perform the surgery and that Robin would assist. Steve led Elizabeth away to get her tea. Steve and Elizabeth returned and with Lucky, approached Patrick as he headed to the operating room. Elizabeth pleaded to see Jake before surgery, but Patrick said there wasn't enough time. Luke went back to the Haunted Star and was met by Tracy, who was ready for their second honeymoon. Luke shared the bad news with her and disclosed that Jake was actually Jason's son. Tracy was stunned to realize that Jake was a Quartermaine. 3/21/11 Terrell revealed that they had found tumors in both of Josslyn's kidneys. Terrell explained that the rare "Wilms' tumors" had begun to develop while Josslyn had been in the womb. Terrell assured the devastated parents that the condition wasn't hereditary. Carly wondered what would happen next. Terrell recommended that Josslyn receive chemotherapy to reduce the tumors. Jax immediately objected to the idea of Josslyn receiving poisonous chemicals, so he demanded to know if there were alternatives to chemotherapy. Terrell explained that Josslyn could live without one kidney but not both. Jax was curious if they could find a new kidney for Josslyn. Terrell acknowledged that it would be an ideal situation, but there were inherent risks, including organ rejection. Terrell also revealed that organs for someone Josslyn's age were very rare and that there was a long waiting list. Jax was stunned that Josslyn's best option was not available to them. Terrell decided to give Carly and Jax some time to consider their options. Michael found Carly making a phone call. Carly admitted that she had called Jason because he gave her strength, so she needed him at her side. Michael reluctantly revealed that Jason couldn't be there, but Carly argued that Josslyn's situation was far more important than finding Theo. Michael explained that Jason was already at the hospital because "Jake Webber" had been badly hurt. Michael hadn't wanted to tell his mother about the accident because Carly had enough to deal with. Siobhan watched from the hallway as Lucky comforted Elizabeth in a private waiting room. "It's all my fault," Elizabeth cried. Lucky fought back tears as he reminded Elizabeth that it had been his night to take the boys. Elizabeth didn't understand why she hadn't heard anything. Lucky insisted that they had to believe that Jake would be okay. He assured Elizabeth that God was with their son, so Jake would make it. Elizabeth remained distraught over their son's fight for his life, so Lucky reminded her of all the times that Jake had shown them that he was a fighter. Lucky recalled how surprised they had been to find Jake teaching himself how to swim. Lucky chuckled as he recounted the time that Jake had watched motorcross on television and then had taken his tricycle to the back porch to ride it off of a step. Lucky remembered how terrified he and Elizabeth had been when Jake had flown over the handlebars. Elizabeth recalled that Jake had told her, "That was so cool, Mom." Elizabeth dissolved into tears as she agreed that Jake was a fighter. Lucky insisted, "You are such a good mother to him." He promised Elizabeth that Jake would pull through. Steve entered the room moments later. Lucky and Elizabeth were eager to know if there had been any word on Jake. Steve gently explained that, given Jake's injuries, the surgery could take awhile. Lucky decided to give Elizabeth and Steve some privacy, so he left the waiting room. Elizabeth admitted that she didn't even know the extent of Jake's injuries because Patrick hadn't gone into detail before the surgery. Steve explained that there hadn't been time. Elizabeth was desperate for an update, so Steve decided to ask a nurse to check on the surgery. Steve returned to his sister's side to let her know that Patrick was focusing on Jake's head trauma before addressing the other injuries. Steve promised Elizabeth that they were doing everything possible to save Jake's life. Elizabeth clutched Jake's little jacket to her face as she deeply breathed in her son's scent. Steve suddenly realized that he had given the same assurances to countless families in similar situations. Steve was shaken by how little those words had helped. He vowed to be a better doctor in the future by showing genuine empathy to the families of patients facing a crisis. Elizabeth smiled weakly as she thanked her brother for bargaining with God. Jason stood in the observation room as he watched Patrick and Robin valiantly try to save his son's life. Tears filled Jason's eyes as Robin warned Patrick that Jake was hemorrhaging. Jake's condition rapidly declined as Patrick desperately worked to stabilize the toddler. Meanwhile, Sam silently slipped into the observation room and then took Jason's hand in hers. Jason squeezed her hand as he continued to watch the doctors operate on Jake. Robin glanced up at the observation room to see Jason praying for his son. A short time later, Robin noticed that Jake's brain activity had ceased. Patrick realized that Jake was beyond saving, so he decided to close him up. Robin looked at Jason and then softly shook her head to let Jason know that Jake hadn't survived his injuries. Sam approached everyone gathered in the waiting area let them know that Jason was in the observation room, watching Jake's surgery. Sam decided that she could best help by finding the driver responsible for Jake's hit-and-run. Dante reminded Lucky that time was of the essence, so Lucky decided to question Elizabeth about the accident. Lucky returned a short time later to reveal that Jake had been hit between 8:00 p.m. and 8:05 p.m. because Elizabeth's cell phone had showed that she had called 911 at 8:06 p.m. According to Lucky, Elizabeth had found Jake lying in the street by her front yard, but she hadn't seen a car. Lucky surmised that the car had been southbound on Lexington at the time of the hit-and-run. Lucky grew silent when he spotted Jason walking towards him. A hush fell over the area as Lucky slowly approached a grief-stricken Jason. Jason answered the question in Lucky's tear-filled eyes by softly shaking his head and then quietly confirming, "He's gone." Lucky dropped his head as he wept over the loss of his son. Meanwhile, friends and loved ones began to cry as they realized that Jake had lost his battle for life. After several minutes, Lucky silently pulled himself together and then returned to the waiting room to break the news to Elizabeth. Sam walked up to Jason and then wrapped her arms around him as he cried over the loss of his son. Elizabeth looked up when Lucky entered the room. She immediately realized that her worst fears had been realized when she saw the pain on Lucky's face. Elizabeth wept inconsolably as Lucky told her that Jake had succumbed to his injuries. Jason stood in the hallway, watching as Lucky tried to comfort Elizabeth. Robin walked up moments later to talk to Jason. Robin told Jason how sorry she was for his loss and then assured him that they had done all that they could for Jake. Jason wondered what happened next. Robin explained that Jake had been put on life support, so it would be up to Jake's parents to decide when to turn off the machines. Jason looked back into the waiting room to see Lucky gently rocking Elizabeth as she cried. Later, Patrick and Robin entered the waiting room to talk to Lucky and Elizabeth about Jake. Patrick revealed that Jake had suffered a "catastrophic head injury". Patrick started to go into detail about Jake's injuries, but Robin silently stopped him by gently putting her hand on his back. Robin assured Lucky and Elizabeth that they couldn't have done anything for Jake because his injuries had been too extensive. Patrick apologized for failing Lucky and Elizabeth, but they were too bereaved to hear it. Lucky wanted to see Jake, so Robin explained that Jake was on life support. Lucky and Elizabeth seemed surprised by the news. Patrick revealed that it would be up to Lucky and Elizabeth when to take Jake off of the machines. In the hallway, Carly approached the waiting room as Patrick broached the subject of organ donation. Carly covered her mouth as she realized that Jake had died. She quietly walked away as Patrick reminded Lucky and Elizabeth that Jake could save the lives of many children. In the waiting room, Elizabeth hugged her brother and then began to reminisce about Jake. Elizabeth recalled how beautiful Jake had been the first time that she had laid eyes on him; she had felt blessed to be his mother. "This should never have happened," Elizabeth sobbed as Steve tried to comfort her. Carly found Jason on the hospital's rooftop, lost in memories of the time that he had spent with Jake, playing with a toy motorcycle, following the bus crash. Jason realized that Carly knew about Jake's passing by the expression on her face. Carly offered him her condolences and then explained how she had learned about the tragedy. Jason confessed that he knew exactly the number of times that he had held Jake. "It was eight," he told her. Carly knew how much Jason had loved Jake. "I just wish there were more time," Carly tearfully confessed. Jason wondered what she had meant by that. Carly revealed that she had been at the hospital because Josslyn had been diagnosed with cancer and desperately needed a kidney transplant. "Your son could save my daughter," Carly admitted. 3/22/11 On the hospital's rooftop, Carly tearfully apologized for adding to Jason's grief by asking him for Jake's kidney. However, she insisted that Josslyn's life was on the line. Jason said little as Carly explained that a donor kidney was Josslyn's best possible option, but there was a long waiting list, so Jake was Josslyn's only hope. Carly continued to stress how dire Josslyn's situation was. According to Carly, if they didn't find a donor immediately then Josslyn would have to begin chemotherapy. Jason pointed out that Jake and Josslyn might not even be a match. Carly realized that they had to run tests, but she pleaded with Jason to help her. She acknowledged that she hadn't given him any time to grieve, but she insisted that Josslyn didn't have any time to spare. Carly explained that the cancer was in both kidneys and that the doctors intended to start pumping "poison" into Josslyn's body. Carly recognized that she was handling the situation all wrong, but she didn't know what else to do. Jason assured Carly that it was okay; however, he warned her that it wasn't up to him. Jason promised to talk to Elizabeth about donating Jake's kidney to Josslyn. Carly immediately threw herself into Jason's arms to thank him for helping her. Later, Jason approached Steve at the nurses' station to find out where Elizabeth was. Steve offered Jason his condolences and then revealed that Elizabeth was with Jake. Steve explained that Elizabeth and Lucky were considering organ donation, but they had wanted to see Jake first. Jason told Steve about Josslyn's situation and her need for a kidney transplant. Steve agreed that Jake would be an excellent donor. However, Steve reminded Jason that they would have to run tests to see if Jake and Josslyn were a match. Jason was curious how soon they could do that. Steve assured Jason that he knew that time was of the essence because the sooner the cancer was out of Josslyn's body the better. Lucky stood outside of Jake's hospital room, tightly holding Siobhan, as he tearfully confessed that he didn't want his last memory of Jake to be of Jake hooked up to machines. Lucky tried to pull himself together as Siobhan advised Lucky to focus on saying what he needed to say to Jake. Lucky was about to enter the room when Elizabeth softly called out to him. Elizabeth wondered if Lucky had seen Jake. Siobhan quietly excused herself to give Lucky and Elizabeth some privacy. Lucky confessed that he wasn't ready to see Jake. Elizabeth admitted that she kept expecting to see Jake appear from around a corner. Lucky confided that he felt the same way. Elizabeth reminded Lucky that there wasn't a rush for them to see Jake, so she suggested that they continue to talk. Lucky welled up with tears as he gently reminded her that the machines were the only thing keeping Jake alive. Elizabeth tearfully admitted that she knew that, but she wasn't ready to let Jake go. Later, Elizabeth was on the verge of entering Jake's room when Jason approached her. Elizabeth's eyes filled with sadness as she wondered how long he had been at the hospital. Jason revealed that he had been there the entire time, but he had kept his distance because he didn't want to complicate things for her. Elizabeth began to cry as she apologized to Jason. "For what?" Jason asked. Elizabeth explained that Jake has slipped out the front door while she had been distracted. Jason quickly assured her that she was not to blame and that it could have happened to anyone. Jason insisted that Elizabeth was a wonderful mother. Elizabeth tearfully disagreed, but Jason was adamant that she had given Jake the best life that Jake could have had. Jason looked around and then wondered where Lucky was. Elizabeth assured Jason that Lucky would return shortly because they hadn't seen Jake yet. Jason told Elizabeth that Josslyn had been diagnosed with cancer and needed a kidney transplant, but the list was too long. Elizabeth was curious what Jason was getting at. Jason explained that Steve had revealed that Elizabeth and Lucky were considering donating Jake's organs. Jason avoided eye contact with Elizabeth as he clarified that she and Lucky could save Josslyn's life by agreeing to donate Jake's kidney. Elizabeth soundly slapped Jason across the face as she accused him of being a "selfish bastard." Elizabeth reminded Jason that it had been his choice not to parent Jake, just as it had been his choice not to be with her. Elizabeth accused him of walking away and never looking back, so she and Lucky had raised Jake. Elizabeth insisted that she and Lucky were the ones who had been left with a hole in their lives, not Jason, because Jason hadn't known Jake. Jason tried to defend his decision, but Elizabeth cut him off. She refused to allow Jason to use her son for "spare parts." Jason looked shaken as Elizabeth stormed off. He slowly walked to the door of Jake's hospital room and then became choked up when he saw Jake. Lucky wondered where Elizabeth was when he approached Jason moments later. Jason explained that she had left because he had upset her. Lucky reminded Jason that Elizabeth was grieving, but Jason clarified that Elizabeth hadn't been ready to hear what Jason had to say. Jason quickly filled Lucky in on Josslyn's cancer diagnosis and her need for a kidney transplant. Lucky wondered if Elizabeth had refused to give her consent. Jason revealed that Elizabeth had told him that it wasn't his choice because Jason had never been a father to Jake. "Well, you made that choice," Lucky reminded Jason. Lucky knew that Jason had done it out of love for Jake. Lucky thanked Jason for giving Lucky the opportunity to have so much joy in his life by being Jake's father. Jason thought that they could make Jake's life mean something by allowing Jake to save Josslyn. Later, Lucky found Elizabeth standing outside of Jake's hospital room. Lucky admitted that he knew about Jason's request. "He had no right," Elizabeth argued. Elizabeth made it clear that she would not allow her baby to be cut open. She insisted that when they decided to let Jake go, he would be in one piece. Elizabeth turned her back on Lucky to stare at Jake through the window. Lucky gently reminded her that Jake was gone. "Waiting won't bring him back," Lucky added. Elizabeth cried that she wasn't ready to say goodbye to their son. Lucky wanted something good to happen. He insisted that Jake could help more than one gravely ill child whose parents were praying for a miracle. "What about our miracle?" Elizabeth demanded. "I don't know," Lucky whispered; however, he wanted to be able to save other children, since they couldn't save Jake. Jason went to see Carly. Carly told him that the doctors were running tests to see if Jake's kidney would be compatible with Josslyn. Jason warned Carly that Elizabeth didn't want to donate Jake's organs. Carly became upset as she insisted that Josslyn was out of time. Jason explained that Elizabeth wasn't ready because she was grieving. Carly realized that she wasn't Elizabeth favorite person, but she was desperate to make Elizabeth understand Josslyn's situation. "I understand," Elizabeth said from the doorway as she clutched Jake's little jacket to her chest, while Lucky stood by Elizabeth's side. Elizabeth revealed that she and Lucky had signed the paperwork consenting to donate one of Jake's kidneys to Josslyn. Carly thanked Elizabeth and Lucky for saving her daughter's life as Elizabeth and Lucky fought back tears of pain. Later, Josslyn's loved ones gathered as Josslyn was taken to surgery. Jason stood in the hallway as Josslyn was wheeled out of her hospital room. Carly mouthed, "Thank you," when she saw Jason. Jason went to Elizabeth's house. He knocked on the door, but no one answered. Jason pulled out a key and then let himself in. Jason stepped on Jake's little toy motorcycle as he entered. Jason picked up the toy, sat down on the bottom step of the staircase, and then dissolved into tears. 3/23/11 Luke stood on Elizabeth's porch, holding one of Jake's toys that had been left discarded by the toddler. He stared at it for a long moment and then quietly knocked on the door. Elizabeth invited Luke inside and then offered him some coffee. Luke assured Elizabeth that she didn't have to play hostess unless it helped her. "Nothing helps," Elizabeth softly admitted as she took the toy from Luke and then gently set it on the fireplace mantel. Luke began to talk about how people sent flowers and gifts when someone passed away because they wanted to help during a difficult time. Luke immediately apologized when he realized that he might have made Elizabeth feel worse. Elizabeth suspected that Luke understood exactly how she felt. Luke acknowledged that what had happened to Jake had been terrible and wrong; he knew that no one could ever be prepared for that kind of tragedy. Elizabeth's eyes filled with tears as she joined him on the sofa. She confided that she hadn't felt pain like that since the night that she had been told that Lucky had perished in a fire. However, Lucky had eventually returned to her. Elizabeth knew that she wouldn't get another miracle. She tearfully confessed that Jake had died because she hadn't been paying attention. Luke insisted that Jake had been in the wrong place at the wrong time. Elizabeth had no idea how she would be able to walk up her driveway again without seeing the place in the road where she had found Jake lying so still. Luke insisted that she needed to remember that she had two other little ones depending on her. Luke blamed Jake's death on the driver of the car that had struck the toddler. 3/24/11 Olivia offered Elizabeth her condolences and then invited Elizabeth to call upon her if Elizabeth needed anything. Elizabeth knew that Olivia worked for Jax, so she asked Olivia to let Jax know that she was glad that Josslyn was doing well. Olivia promised to pass the message along and then left. Elizabeth revealed to Steve that she had dreamed of Jake standing in the front yard, calling to her. Elizabeth confessed that for a second she had thought the previous night had been a terrible nightmare and that Jake had still been alive. Steve wrapped his arms around his sister as she gave way to tears. Elizabeth decided that she needed to do something with Jake's room because she couldn't stand to enter it as it was. Steve urged her to give it some time, but Elizabeth argued that time was different for her because her baby had died in an instant, but every second since that moment had seemed like an eternity. Steve realized that the pain would never leave Elizabeth, but he thought that she would eventually begin to feel normal again. Elizabeth disagreed because her arms would always ache for her baby. Nikolas entered moments later. Cameron immediately ran into his mother's arms. Elizabeth swept up Cam and then hugged him fiercely while Nikolas tried to soothe Aiden. Elizabeth took Aiden from Nikolas and then settled on the sofa with her children. Steve decided to check in with the hospital while Nikolas was there, so he snatched up his keys and then left. Nikolas told Elizabeth that Cam had ridden the pony earlier that day. Cam was curious if Jake could ride the pony when he returned from heaven. Jason arrived home to find Sam waiting for him. Sam offered to leave if he wanted to be alone, but he asked her how Josslyn was doing. Sam assured him that Josslyn was out of danger. Jason asked her to stay, so they went to the dining room to sit down. Jason showed Sam the toy motorcycle that he had found at Elizabeth's house. Sam recognized the toy as the one that Jake and Jason had played with following the bus crash. Jason revealed that he had been riding his motorcycle all night and that he had been tempted to keep on going and to never look back, so that he wouldn't have to face Jake's death. However, Jason would never do that to Sam. Jason stared off into space with a shattered expression as tears filled his eyes. Sam jumped up to answer the door when Spinelli's book was delivered. Afterwards, she offered to fix Jason something to eat, but he wasn't hungry. Sam assured Jason that there wasn't a wrong way to grieve as a tear slid down his cheek. Jason thought perhaps he should give Jake's toy back to Elizabeth. Sam couldn't imagine what Elizabeth was going through, but she hoped that Jason and Elizabeth could help each other. Jason doubted that Elizabeth wanted anything from him. Spinelli arrived home moments later. He offered Jason his condolences and then tried to find some words of comfort, but Jason insisted that there weren't any. Jason and Spinelli hugged and then Spinelli offered to help find the driver responsible for the accident. Jason explained that he would let the police handle it. Sam handed Spinelli the book that had arrived. Spinelli confessed that his new novel seemed insignificant. Jason didn't want Spinelli to delay its release, so Sam offered to go to the office with Spinelli to check the book for any mistakes. After they left, Jason set Jake's toy motorcycle on the fireplace mantel and then stared at it with tears in his eyes. A short time later, Carly arrived. Carly admitted that she had feared that he would take off. Jason confessed that he had been tempted to. She quickly updated him on Josslyn's recovery and then thanked him for saving Josslyn's life. Jason insisted that Elizabeth and Lucky deserved the credit. "No, it's because of you," Carly argued. Jason sensed that something was troubling Carly, so he urged her to tell him what was going on. Carly revealed how she had gotten the news about Josslyn and then had rushed to the hospital by taking Lexington. Carly tearfully confessed that she had been on the phone and hadn't been paying attention to the road, so she might have been the driver who had killed Jake. 3/25/11 Carly admitted to a stunned Jason that she was on the suspect list in the investigation into Jake's death. She admitted that she'd driven past Elizabeth's house around the time of the accident but that the whole drive was a blank in her mind. All she had been able to focus on that night was getting to Josslyn. Carly explained that the police had impounded her car to determine whether it had been the vehicle involved. Carly went on to say that she'd hit a planter a few days before because she was a terrible driver. She sobbed and noted the cruel irony that Josslyn was alive because of Jason's son but that Jake's death might have been Carly's fault. Jason hinted that he would forgive her if it turned out that she was to blame. Carly took a call from Dante, who let her know that she had been cleared of suspicion. After she hung up, Carly apologized to Jason for having put him through hell for no reason. Nikolas took Elizabeth's boys back to her house. Elizabeth thanked him for pitching in and vowed to be strong for Cameron and Aiden. Nikolas offered any assistance he or his staff could provide. They reminisced about the old days, when the two of them, as well as Lucky and Emily, constituted Port Charles's "four musketeers." Elizabeth mentioned that Steven was going to move in to help out. She worried that she wouldn't find the right words to tell Cameron that his brother would never return home. Nikolas told her about watching Cameron and Spencer play together. Nikolas laughed that, with all of Spencer's expensive toys, Spencer had the most fun building forts out of pillows and cushions with Cameron. Nikolas promised he'd see to it that the boys got to spend more time together. Later, as Elizabeth contemplated opening Aiden's paternity results, Jason knocked on the door. She invited him in. He returned one of Jake's toys. Jason had been at the house after the accident and had taken it, but he said that he'd had no right. He apologized for all the ways he'd hurt Elizabeth throughout the years, but she apologized for having accused Jason of abandoning his son. She said she was sorry he'd never had a chance to really get to know Jake. Jason told her he understood why and asked her not to feel guilty for any of the decisions she'd made to protect their son. Dante called and demanded Jason go to the police station right away. After Jason departed, Lulu knocked on the door. Elizabeth was speechless to find Lulu on the doorstep. Jason met Dante at the station, and Dante informed him that Jake's DNA had been found on a vehicle: Luke's car. Luke returned to the Haunted Star to find a distraught Lucky. Luke was glad that Lucky knew Carly had been ruled out as a suspect. With tears in his eyes, Lucky showed his father the forensics report that showed Luke's car was the one that had hit Jake. Luke, at first, was shocked, but he soon fell apart. He couldn't believe he'd hit a child and not known it. Luke downed a glass of whiskey to steady his nerves, which prompted Lucky to ask if Luke had been drinking before the accident. 3/28/11 At the police station, Jason demanded to know if Dante were sure that Luke had been responsible for the hit-and-run that had killed Jake. Dante confirmed that the evidence was conclusive. Jason refused to believe that it had been an accident. Dante pointed out that any one of the other drivers could have hit Jake, but Jason argued that they hadn't been drunk like Luke had been. Dante pointed out that Jason didn't know for certain that Luke had been drunk at the time of the accident, so he urged Jason to think carefully before confronting Luke. Elizabeth invited Lulu into the living room. Lulu admitted that Jake had been an amazing child and that she was deeply sorry for Elizabeth's loss. Lulu also regretted the way that she had treated Elizabeth after the affair with Nikolas and the things that she had said to Elizabeth. Elizabeth didn't think that any of that seemed to matter anymore. Lulu confessed that it had been wrong of her to judge Elizabeth, but Elizabeth insisted that Lulu had just been a protective sister. Lulu conceded that Elizabeth hadn't set out to hurt Lucky by having an affair. Lulu also acknowledged that Elizabeth had always been a wonderful sister and friend to her; Elizabeth had treated Lulu with more patience than Lulu had shown Elizabeth. Elizabeth assured Lulu that Lulu didn't have to apologize, but Lulu argued that it had been wrong of her to take her anger out on Elizabeth. Lulu wished that her ego would have let her say that sooner and that it hadn't taken the loss of a child to see it. Elizabeth joined Lulu on the sofa and then gently changed the subject by asking if Lulu had spoken to Lucky. "Yes," Lulu assured Elizabeth. Elizabeth confessed that Lucky had persuaded her to donate Jake's organs after the accident. Lulu reminded Elizabeth that Jake had saved the lives of many children. Elizabeth hoped that one day the knowledge would help in some small way. Lulu admitted that she wished that Lucky could focus on Jake's gift of life rather than on finding the driver responsible for the accident. Elizabeth refused to blame the driver for Jake's death. According to Elizabeth, it had been her fault for not locking the front door or hearing Jake leave. "That was an accident," Lulu insisted. Seconds later, someone knocked on the door, so Lulu answered it. It was Dante. Lulu offered to leave when Dante revealed that they had found the driver responsible for the hit-and-run. Elizabeth invited Lulu to stay as Dante struggled to find the words to break the news to Elizabeth and Lulu. Dante assured Elizabeth and Lulu that it appeared to have been a "complete accident" and then admitted that Luke had been the driver. Lulu insisted that it had to be a mistake; she demanded to know if he had checked the mystery car with the forged license plates. Dante assured Lulu that they were certain that they had proof. Lulu became distraught as she struggled to accept what Dante had told her. Elizabeth was equally shaken by the news, so she asked Lulu and Dante to leave. Lulu didn't want Elizabeth to be alone, so she asked Dante stay with Elizabeth. Elizabeth explained that she needed to be alone, so Lulu and Dante left. At the Haunted Star Luke was horrified at the realization that he had killed Jake. Luke acknowledged that he had been speeding, but Lucky demanded to know if Luke had been drinking. "I had a drink," Luke reluctantly admitted. Lucky demanded to know how many drinks Luke had consumed before climbing behind the wheel of the car. Luke insisted that it had only been "one or two" shots of scotch. Lucky was furious because his son was dead. Luke denied that the accident had been a result of his drinking. Luke couldn't understand how it had happened because he didn't recall seeing Jake. "No dad, you didn't see him or react because you were drunk," Lucky accused his father. Lucky was shocked when Luke made his way to the bar to pour himself a drink. "What are you doing?" Lucky demanded in disbelief. Luke explained that he had been drinking since the age of twelve; he emptied the glass and then made his way to the center of the casino to walk a straight line to show Lucky that he could pass a sobriety test. Lucky begged Luke to stop, but Luke desperately wanted Lucky to believe that the alcohol hadn't played a role in the tragic accident. Luke then poured himself several more shots of scotch, which he quickly drank. Lucky angrily demanded that his father stop, but Luke ignored his son's order. Lucky violently knocked the glass out of Luke's hand and then grabbed Luke's shirtfront as he once again screamed at Luke to stop. Lucky quickly released Luke, who immediately began to weep and shake uncontrollably. Lucky stared at his father with a mixture of fury and despair. Luke pulled himself together enough to take full responsibility for the accident. Luke assured Lucky that he would carry the guilt of Jake's death with him forever. "That doesn't make it okay," Lucky explained. Luke began to weep again as he confessed that he wished that he had taken a different route and hadn't been speeding on that fateful night. Lucky was frustrated because he didn't hear Luke wishing that he hadn't taken those drinks that Luke had before driving. Luke suggested that Lucky was just looking to blame something for Jake's death, so he was blaming Luke's drinking. Luke thought that it was an easy answer; however, no one knew why it had happened. Luke's inability to accept that he had a drinking problem only angered Lucky further. Lucky argued that the curse of addiction had been passed down from Luke's father to Luke and then from Luke to Lucky. According to Lucky, Luke's drinking had killed Jake. "Okay. If that's what you need to believe, if that comforts you and gets you through the night, then fine. It was my drinking that killed Jake. I was drunk," Luke told Lucky. Luke wanted to know what he could do to ease Lucky and Elizabeth's pain. Lucky insisted that it was too late. Luke began to sob as he begged Lucky not to hate him. Lucky blamed himself for ignoring the signs of Luke's drinking problem for too long. Luke conceded that he was flawed, but he pleaded with Lucky not to hate him. Lucky quietly assured Luke that he didn't hate his father and never could. Lucky understood that Luke loved Lucky as much as Lucky had loved Jake. Luke was shattered as he watched a completely defeated Lucky walk out of the casino. Luke sat down as memories of the past invaded his mind. Luke recalled a time shortly after Lulu's birth when he and Lucky had talked about how babies had changed things. Luke had told his young son that Lucky and been one of the two most amazing things to ever happen to him. Luke then remembered Lucky once questioning if Luke would change anything about the way that Luke had raised his children if Luke could do things over. Luke had admitted that he wouldn't change anything because he'd be afraid that he'd "screw" things up by actually trying to raise Lucky. Luke suddenly stood up and then began to trash the casino as he screamed in anguish. Luke wasn't surprised to see Jason enter the casino. Luke had been wondering when Jason would show up. He was curious if Jason had a gun or if he needed to use Luke's. "Enjoying yourself?" Jason asked Luke. Luke gave Jason a sarcastic answer, which Jason ignored. Jason demanded to know if Luke had been drinking prior to running over Jake. Luke admitted that he'd had a drink, but he denied being drunk at the time of the accident. Jason didn't buy that excuse. Jason insisted that a person was more aware of their surroundings and faster to react when they were sober. "But you weren't," Jason said with certainty. Luke retrieved a gun from beneath the bar and then set it down for Jason. "There it is. Use it," Luke invited Jason. 3/29/11 At the Haunted Star, Luke was curious if Jason would prefer that Luke put the gun in his own mouth and then pull the trigger. "It would be a start," Jason coldly replied. Luke confessed that suicide would be a relief, but Jason doubted that Luke would do it. "What makes you so sure?" Luke wondered. Luke acknowledged the pain and hurt that he had caused, but he insisted that the accident had been the result of poor lighting and Luke's speeding. Jason was furious that Luke had been drinking. Jason accused Luke of being too arrogant to look him in the eye, and admit that Jake had died because Luke had been drunk. Jason grabbed the gun off of the bar and then aimed at Luke's heart. Luke thought that Jason, more than anyone, understood that life was random, and that terrible things happened, even to children. Jason suggested that Luke thank Michael the next time that Luke saw him. Jason explained that he wanted to kill Luke, but it wasn't what he wanted for Michael or the man that Jason hoped that Michael would become one day. Jason dropped the gun on the table and then walked out. 3/31/11 At the penthouse, Jason's hands began to shake as he tried to get ready for Jake's memorial service, so Sam helped him with his tie. Jason admitted that he didn't know what to do because he was reluctant to make things worse for Elizabeth. He realized that he hadn't been present for any of the important milestones in Jake's life, except the day that Jake had been born, and the night that his son had died. Sam offered to run interference if Jason didn't want to talk to anyone. Jason wanted to honor Jake, but he acknowledged that the memorial service was for Jake's parents, Lucky and Elizabeth. Jason confessed that he wished that he had spent more time with Jake. He recalled how, when Michael was little, he had clutched Jason's fingers in his tiny hand as they took walks. Jason regretted that he didn't have memories like that of Jake. Sam reminded Jason that he had given Jake up out of love. She insisted that Jason would always be Jake's father, whether Jason went to attend the memorial service or not. Jason held Sam in his arms as a tear slowly slid down his cheek. Elizabeth was sitting in her dinning room, staring off into space, when the phone rang. Tears filled her eyes as the answering machine picked up, and her happy greeting, inviting callers to leave a message for her, Cameron, Jake, or Aiden, filled the silence. Elizabeth then heard Nikolas explain that he was on his way to her house to pick her up for the memorial service. Elizabeth looked at a picture of Jake on the mantel as fresh tears began to flow. A short time later, Nikolas arrived to find Elizabeth sitting in the living room. Elizabeth offered Nikolas some peanut butter cookies, which had been Jake's favorite. Elizabeth revealed that she had baked them for when the boys returned from their visit with Lucky. "He never got to have one," Elizabeth remarked as she looked at the jar of cookies. Nikolas noticed that Elizabeth wasn't dressed for the memorial service, so he offered to cancel it if she weren't up to attending. "Why?" Elizabeth asked. She assured him that she could find a black dress to wear. Elizabeth's tone filled with self-loathing as she admitted that she couldn't keep her four year-old in the house, and she had cheated on Lucky with his brother, but she could find a black dress. Elizabeth gently placed Jake's picture on the mantel as she confessed that she had failed Jake, so she was determined to be there for him at the memorial service. Later, Elizabeth and Nikolas returned from the memorial service. They agreed that Steve had given a touching eulogy. Lucky's special prayer had also moved Elizabeth. She didn't understand where Lucky got his faith in God from, but she wished that she had it. Elizabeth confessed that Jake's death didn't make sense to her; she had turned her back on her son for a few minutes, and he had ended up dead. "What part of that says God loves me?" Elizabeth demanded. Elizabeth wanted to know why God hadn't watched over Jake, but Nikolas didn't have an answer for her. Jax and Carly knocked. Nikolas answered the door for Elizabeth, and told them that it might not be a good time. Elizabeth assured Nikolas that it was fine, so she invited Jax and Carly in. Carly told Elizabeth that she and Jax were grateful for the gift that Elizabeth had given to Josslyn. Jax realized that they could never repay Elizabeth for saving Josslyn's life, but he insisted that she call him if she ever needed anything. Elizabeth wondered how Josslyn was doing. Carly assured Elizabeth that Josslyn was recovering. Elizabeth reminded Carly that Josslyn was a miracle, so she urged Carly and Jax to hug, kiss, and cherish their daughter because she could be gone in a heartbeat. Jax and Carly nodded and then left. Afterwards, Elizabeth thanked Nikolas for everything; however, she needed some time alone. Nikolas was hesitant to leave, but Elizabeth assured him that Steve would be by soon. Elizabeth asked Nikolas to give her boys a kiss for her as he left. Elizabeth then picked up the envelope with Aiden's paternity test results. She read the results, wandered to the dinning room, picked up a huge vase of flowers, and then threw them across the room. 4/1-4/4/11 At the penthouse, Jason confessed he continued to wonder if he had made the right decision by giving up Jake. Sam assured Jason that he had done what he had believed had been for the best. Jason recalled that Sonny had once told him that a person didn't give up a child to save him; Jason suspected that Sonny had been right. Jason had always told himself that Jake was better off without Jason in his life, and that missing him had been the price that Jason had to pay, but he finally knew better. Jason realized that children got sick and sometimes died, so all he had accomplished was to miss out on a chance to know his son. Sam suggested that all anyone could do was love while they had the chance. Jason asked Sam if she thought it was wrong of him not to go to the memorial. Sam said he had to do what was best for him. Jason said that Michael had gone to the service and he hoped that it had given Michael a new perspective. Jason worried that Michael would throw his life away. 4/7/11 At the Haunted Star, Luke was passed out on the bar when he heard a child's laughter. He looked up to find Jake playing with his toy motorcycle. Luke smiled with joy as he called out Jake's name. 4/8-4/11/11 Lucky stopped in to apologize to Jason for not protecting Jake. He told Jason that he should have stopped Luke from drinking. He said that the irony was that Jake had been conceived because of Lucky's addiction and had died because of Luke's. Lucky said he was sorry for being a coward and not standing up to Luke when it counted. Jason told Lucky that he was not to blame. Jason said that he knew that Lucky had loved Jake and done everything he could for him. Lucky said that Jake might have still been alive if he had confronted Luke about his drinking. 4/15/11 Liz gives Jake’s favorite toy motorcycle to Sam to give to Jason. Sam arrived to express her regrets. Elizabeth asked how Jason was doing, and Sam responded that he had thrown himself into his work to distract himself from his grief. Elizabeth expressed her desire to go back to work and added that Steven wouldn't let her, because he felt she needed more time. Sam apologized for having been so awful to Liz after Jake's birth. Elizabeth expressed her regrets that she had turned her back on Lucky when he'd needed her most and for letting Jason down by convincing him to give up his son. As Sam left, Elizabeth handed her a toy motorcycle, Jake's favorite, to take to Jason. Sam returned to Jason's penthouse after Michael left. She recounted the interaction she'd just had with Elizabeth, concluding that Liz had been very gracious. Sam presented Jason with the toy motorcycle and said that she believed he would have made a great father. Jason mused that a good father knew when to let his child grow up and make his own decisions. Michael was at that point, and Jason admitted that he was scared for his nephew. Sam agreed that Michael would have to choose his path and live with the consequences. Jason said that whatever he did, it would never be enough to keep his loved ones safe. 4/18/11 At the penthouse, Jason was still grieving over Jake's death. Jason said that in trying to protect Jake, he had missed the bigger truth that death can occur at any time to anyone. He said it was important to enjoy the time you are given and he did not do that with Jake. Sam said that she knew that it broke Jason's heart to give up Jake, but he had put Jake's needs above his own. She told him not to beat himself up. Sam told Jason that they had all done what they thought was best for Jake. She said no one was to blame for had happened. 4/29/11 Maxie told Jason that she was sorry for his loss and that she had some understanding of Jason's grief because she missed her sister every day. Then she asked Jason if it was too soon to have another child, especially one he might not be ready for. Sam overheard the conversation, and when Maxie left, Sam told Jason that there was no reason for him to go to the hospital with her because it was a simple procedure that would be over in no time. Jason told Sam that he wanted to be sure that she wanted to get pregnant. He told her if it was what she wanted, he supported her, but if she was getting pregnant because he had lost Jake, she should rethink her decision. Sam insisted it was what she wanted. #14B5/4/11 At the nurses' station, Steve welcomed Elizabeth back when she reported for duty. Elizabeth assured her brother that she was ready to work, so Steve explained that she would be handling administrative duties for a few weeks to ease her back in. Elizabeth admitted that work was exactly what she needed, but then froze when she saw Jake playing with his toy motorcycle near the elevators. Steve glanced over his shoulder to see what Elizabeth was staring at. Elizabeth's vision cleared as a mother led her little boy onto the elevator. Steve realized that Elizabeth had mistaken the boy for Jake. Elizabeth didn't deny it. She confessed that many things reminded her of Jake. Elizabeth explained that Jake had been so full of life that she wouldn't be honoring her son if she curled up into a ball, and then tried to block out her memories of him. Besides, she added, Cameron and Aiden needed her to be the best mother that she could be. Steve urged his sister to speak up if she felt overwhelmed by work. He promised that everyone would understand. Elizabeth appreciated Steve's support, but she confessed that it was sometimes too much. She urged Steve to take some time to focus on himself because she needed to do some things on her own. Later, Lulu was startled to see Elizabeth working near the nurses' station. Elizabeth wondered if Nikolas or Lucky had sent Lulu to check up on her. Lulu assured Elizabeth that she hadn't realized that Elizabeth had been working; however, Lulu was curious how Elizabeth was doing. Elizabeth revealed that it was her first day back at work. Lulu explained that she had stopped by the hospital because Alfred had told her that Nikolas had been scheduled to attend a board meeting. Elizabeth wondered if everything were okay. "No," Lulu admitted, but she doubted that Elizabeth wanted to hear about it. Elizabeth assured Lulu that she knew about the intervention. Lulu confided that Luke was pretending that he was okay when it was clear that Luke was in trouble. Elizabeth realized that they had all been sitting in a weird holding pattern since Jake's death; they knew that they needed to move forward, but they didn't want to because they were afraid that they'd forget Jake. Elizabeth understood Luke's desire for everything to return to normal. Elizabeth admitted that it was difficult for her to be back at work because she kept expecting her three boys to be waiting for her in the daycare center. However, then it hit her that Jake was gone. Lulu wished that she could help, but she feared that Elizabeth wouldn't want it. Elizabeth was curious why Lulu thought that. Lulu reminded Elizabeth that Luke had killed Jake, but Elizabeth insisted that it had been an accident. Lulu couldn't understand how Elizabeth could be so forgiving. Elizabeth reminded Lulu that Luke hadn't been the only person to make a mistake that night. Lulu argued that Elizabeth was a wonderful mother, so she wasn't to blame for the tragedy. Elizabeth confessed that she missed Jake's crooked smile and the way that he would bury his head in her neck when they hugged. Elizabeth realized that her grief would eventually become her new normal, so she needed to focus on putting one foot in front of the other. Elizabeth suddenly stopped mid-sentence when she spotted Jake playing with his toy motorcycle by the elevator. "Oh, God," Elizabeth whispered. Lulu glanced at the elevator and then asked, "What's wrong?" 5/5/11 At the nurses' station, Elizabeth had a vision of Jake playing with his motorcycle by the elevators. Elizabeth quickly looked away and then apologized to Lulu. Elizabeth explained that she kept seeing Jake everywhere, but she knew that the visions weren't real. Lulu led Elizabeth to some a nearby chair, so that Elizabeth could sit down. Lulu wondered how long Elizabeth had been having visions of Jake. Elizabeth acknowledged that it hadn't been an isolated incident. Lulu couldn't imagine how Elizabeth dealt with the pain of losing a child. Elizabeth confessed that it was overwhelming at times, but Cameron and Aiden helped her through the most difficult periods because they gave her purpose. Lulu suggested that perhaps Elizabeth was seeing Jake because Elizabeth wasn't ready to let her son go. Elizabeth pulled herself together and then explained that she needed to get back to work. Lulu realized that they'd had their issues, but she wanted Elizabeth to know that she had always considered Elizabeth family. Lulu promised to be available if Elizabeth needed someone to talk to. Elizabeth was surprised when she saw that Sam was scheduled for a fertility reconstruction procedure. Later, Elizabeth bumped into Jason in the hallway. After they greeted each other, Jason and Elizabeth talked about her returning to work. Elizabeth explained that returning to work had been more difficult than she had anticipated. She was curious how it had been for Jason, but Jason quickly reminded her that their careers were nothing alike, and that he didn't have two children at home. Jason was certain that Elizabeth was doing the usual by trying to take care of everyone but herself. Elizabeth shifted gears by admitting that she hoped that Sam was taking care of Jason. "She is," Jason assured Elizabeth and then explained that Sam was in the hospital. Elizabeth confessed that she knew about Sam's surgery. Elizabeth revealed that everyone told her not to blame herself for what had happened to Jake, and that she knew that it was impossible for anyone to watch their child one hundred percent of the time. However, she wondered about the hours prior to the accident because she couldn't remember if she had yelled at Jake earlier that day, if she had hugged him, or if she had told their son that she loved him. Jason assured Elizabeth that Jake knew that she loved him. Elizabeth smiled and then apologized for getting sidetracked, which had become a common occurrence. She wanted Jason to know that she was happy that he and Sam were planning to have a baby because Jason would be an amazing father. Elizabeth confessed that she would always regret that she had taken away his chance to be a father to Jake. Jason reminded her that they had all been in agreement that it would have been better for Jake to grow up with Lucky. Elizabeth argued that it hadn't been true because the mob hadn't killed Jake. Jason assured Elizabeth that she had given Jake a good life, so Jason didn't want Elizabeth to look for excuses to blame herself for the tragedy. Elizabeth was curious if, knowing how everything had turned out, it would have been better if she had never told Jason about Jake or if Jason would have preferred to have known from the beginning. "The beginning," Jason answered without hesitation. Elizabeth suspected that things would have turned out differently if she had told Jason from the onset that he was Jake's father. Jason urged Elizabeth not to second-guess herself because she would just drive herself crazy. Elizabeth smiled sadly, but didn't respond. Jason decided to get back to Sam, so Elizabeth wished Sam luck with the procedure and then watched Jason walk away. Jason confessed that he had no idea how Elizabeth continued to live in the house where Jake had been raised, walked by Jake's bedroom every day, and looked out the window to see where their son had died. Jason confided that he wouldn't have been able to handle it; it would have driven him crazy. Sam realized that the hospital might be a difficult reminder of Jake's tragic death, so she assured Jason that he was free to leave. Jason explained that Sam had always taken care of him, and it was his turn to do the same for her. 5/6/11 As Jason sat in Sam's hospital room, he dreamed of showing his motorcycle to Jake and making plans for the future with him. Jason awoke as Elizabeth walked in. Jason shared the dream he'd had with Elizabeth, who reminded him that it was Jake's birthday. She suggested that Jason take a ride on his motorcycle to honor his son. Later, at home, Elizabeth opened a package that Lucky had sent to Jake before the boy's death. It was a motorized mini-motorcycle. As Elizabeth stared at the toy, she imagined Jake running into the room and riding it. 5/9/11 Lucky caught up with Jason at GH. Lucky said that he had been thinking about Jake, and doing so had made him painfully aware that every moment he had spent with Jake had been at great expense to Jason. He said that he regretted that his own father had been responsible for ending Jake's life. Jason said that he did not hold Lucky responsible for what Luke had done. Lucky said that the hardest thing about death was that life went on. Lucky wondered if he had disrespected Jake by getting married on Jake's birthday. Jason said it was a way to remember Jake. Lucky said that they honored Jake by continuing on and by trying to be good to each other. Jason said he was not there yet. Lucky agreed that neither was he. 5/10/11 At the hospital, Lucky thanked Jason for listening while Lucky rambled on about Jake. Jason assured Lucky that it wasn't a problem because Jake had been on Jason's mind a lot lately. Lucky confessed that he enjoyed when people talked about Jake because it made Lucky feel as if Jake wouldn't be forgotten. Jason admitted that he felt as if he had gotten to know his son through Lucky. Jason insisted that Lucky had been a great father to Jake. Lucky decided to broach the subject of Luke. Lucky told Jason about the intervention, but conceded that Luke had refused to go to rehab. Lucky explained that Luke was drinking because Luke was drowning in guilt. Lucky warned Jason that Luke wanted to provoke Jason into killing Luke, so Lucky pleaded with Jason not to engage Luke. Jason was infuriated that Luke refused to hold himself accountable for driving drunk. Lucky was curious why Jason didn't just kill Luke, if Jason felt that way. Jason confessed that he was tempted, but Michael wanted to follow in Jason's footsteps, so Jason couldn't afford to make a mistake. Lucky insisted that he was doing his best to help Luke, but Lucky needed more time. Jason refused to make any promises, but he had his hands full trying to help Michael and Abby. 5/13/11 Jason sits reading to Josselyn as Elizabeth enters her hospital room. He tells Liz that Josselyn is being released from the hospital. Jason tells Josselyn that Elizabeth helped her when she was sick. Liz thinking of the transplant gets chocked up and quickly leaves the room. Jason realizes she is grieving for Jake and follows her out of the room. Elizabeth discussed Jake's death. Elizabeth explained how sorry she was that Jason hadn't had the opportunity to get to know their son. She pointed out that knowing Josslyn would have a childhood because of Jake's kidneys was the only thing that made the pain bearable. Elizabeth told Steven that she was thankful Lucky had convinced her to go ahead with the organ donation so that Josslyn could survive. Liz thanked her brother for having made the decision easier for her. Steven told Elizabeth how proud he was of her for being so brave at such a difficult time. 5/17/11 At the Webber house, Elizabeth told Cam to brush his teeth before bed as she carried a load of laundry upstairs. Cam groaned and then jumped out from the sofa to look out the window. Seconds later, Cam ran to the door, unlocked it, and then dashed outside. Elizabeth returned to the living room to find the front door wide open. She screamed Cam's name and then raced outside. Lucky's phone rang. Lucky noticed that it was Elizabeth's number, so he answered the call. Cameron begged his father to get to the house because, "Mom is sick." Lucky knocked on Elizabeth's front door several times before Elizabeth answered it. Elizabeth seemed surprised to see Lucky. Lucky told Elizabeth about Cam's phone call. Elizabeth revealed that she had panicked when she had found the front door open, but she had found Cam standing in the side yard. Elizabeth had dragged Cam inside, yelled at him, sent Cam to his room, and then gone to her room to cry. Elizabeth had no idea that Cam had heard her crying, so she hadn't realized that he had called Lucky. Lucky imagined that it had been a terrifying moment for Elizabeth, so he understood her reaction to the situation. Elizabeth asked Lucky to make certain that Cam was okay and to reassure their son that Cam's mother hadn't completely lost her mind. Lucky didn't want Elizabeth to be so hard on herself because she hadn't failed anyone. Lucky explained that unexpected reminders of Jake's tragedy were inevitable, so all they could do was try to keep going. Elizabeth smiled in gratitude and then joined Lucky when he went to talk to Cam. Afterwards, Elizabeth thanked Lucky for being such a great father to Cam. She confided that Cam missed Jake a lot, so Lucky promised to spend some extra time with Cam. Elizabeth was determined to do her best to hold it together because she didn't want Cam to worry about her. Lucky urged Elizabeth to call him if she needed someone to talk to. Elizabeth appreciated the offer, but she reminded him that he had just gotten married. Lucky assured Elizabeth that Siobhan would understand, but Elizabeth didn't think that it would be fair to his new wife. Lucky didn't think that it was fair that their son was gone, and that they were expected to go on without Jake. Elizabeth admitted that she had no idea how to do that. Lucky confessed that he didn't, either, so he suggested that they take it one day at a time and then hugged her. 5/19/11 On the pier, Luke accused Jason of looking at him as if Luke had just crawled out of the sewer. Jason just stared at Luke as Luke continued to goad Jason by suggesting that Jason hid behind various masks, including one of a grieving father. However, Luke insisted that Jason hadn't lost anything when Jake had died because Lucky had raised Jake. Jason advanced menacingly on Luke, but Carly stepped forward to defuse the situation. Luke ruthlessly continued his verbal assault by claiming that he was the only person willing to call Jason out on Jason's "jaw-dropping hypocrisy." Luke was curious if Jason knew what Jake's favorite color had been, favorite bedtime story, or if Jake had preferred cereal or pancakes for breakfast. Luke suggested that Jason had been nothing more than a "glorified sperm donor." "Knock it off, Luke," Carly warned her uncle, but Luke was relentless. He blindsided Jason with a punch to the face when Jason refused to respond to the bait. Carly immediately stepped in to defend Jason, but Luke accused Jason of being a "paper tiger." Jason finally found his voice as he acknowledged that he had failed Jake. Carly suggested that Luke find another way to go down in flames instead of trying to provoke Jason to fulfill Luke's "suicide mission." Luke accused Jason of turning his back on Jake, and then having the audacity to act as if Jake's death had been some kind of catastrophic loss. "Who the hell are you to stand there and judge?" Carly angrily asked Luke. Carly reminded Luke that Luke had disappeared for months at a time, while Luke's children had grown up, so Luke hadn't raised his children. Luke demanded to know if Jason wanted to feel something real. Luke suggested that Jason feel gratitude, relief, and joy that the kid that Jason had never cared about had been able to give Carly's "imperfect daughter a spare part." Carly and Jason were speechless. Carly accused Luke of being a "pathetic son of a bitch." She told Luke to return to Kelly's to drown himself in a bottle. Jason made it clear that he refused to give Luke what Luke wanted. "What would that be?" Luke snidely asked. Jason knew that Luke wanted Jason to punish Luke and to end Luke's misery. Jason hated that everyone was running around in circles, trying to blame Jake's death on Luke's alcoholism, but Jason insisted that he and Luke knew the truth. Jason wanted Luke to live with Jake's death every day for the rest of Luke's life. Jason hoped that Luke lived forever because Jason wanted Luke to suffer. Luke seemed rattled as Jason and Carly walked away. Later, Jason and Carly arrived at Jason's penthouse. Carly realized that Jason was still shaken by what Luke had said, so she assured Jason that Luke had been wrong. She had seen how deeply it had hurt Jason to give up Jake. Jason admitted that he had a recurring dream about Jake, in which Jason showed an inquisitive Jake his motorcycle. Jason became choked up as he revealed that the dream ended with Jason lifting Jake up onto the motorcycle with him. Carly hugged Jason as his eyes filled with tears. 5/27/11 The woman asked Elizabeth to show her the way to the boy's room and thanked her for being so kind. As Elizabeth headed back to the nurses' station, she saw Jake standing in front of her. Later, Robin found Elizabeth crying in a conference room. Robin offered to find someone to cover the desk, but Liz declined, worrying that Steven would make her take another leave of absence. "Why did her little boy get to live," Elizabeth wondered, "and mine didn't?" 6/7/11 At Pozzulo's, Sam entered the office to find Jason deep in thought. Sam apologized for being late, which made Jason realize that he had forgotten about their dinner plans. Sam assured him that it was okay, but she sensed that Jason was troubled. Jason confessed that he had thought that he had made peace with his choices long before, but he had recently considered leaving the business. Jason suggested that it would be better for their child if he did something else, but Sam argued that Jason should be realistic. According to Sam, Jason couldn't run from his past because everyone knew what Jason had done and could easily find him. Sam insisted that Jason couldn't deny who he was. Jason suggested that it would be selfish of him to think like that. Sam was curious why Jason had given up Jake. Jason was certain that she knew his reasons, but Sam wanted Jason to remind them both. Jason explained that he had wanted to protect Jake, but Jake had died anyway. Sam argued that it hadn't been because of something that Jason had done because Jason had tried to keep his son safe. Sam insisted that there weren't any guarantees that their child would have a perfect life. She assured Jason that she wasn't trying to tell Jason what to do, but she thought that it was important for Jason to be sure what he was choosing and why. 6/16/11 Elizabeth turned to Jason for help with Lucky. She explained that she was worried about Lucky because Lucky was blaming himself for Luke turning his back on the family, and for failing to protect Jake. Jason insisted that Lucky had protected Jake. Elizabeth was certain that Jason's forgiveness would lessen Lucky's guilt. Jason argued that he couldn't forgive Lucky for what had happened to Jake because Lucky hadn't done anything wrong. Jason suspected that Lucky needed Elizabeth's help, but Elizabeth reminded Jason that Lucky was married. Jason argued that Lucky and Elizabeth were still connected. "By our son," Elizabeth acknowledged, but Jason insisted that it went beyond that. Jason believed that Elizabeth was the only woman for Lucky. Elizabeth wanted to do what was best for Lucky, so Jason encouraged her to be honest. Elizabeth explained that it was more complicated than Jason realized. She feared that what she had to say to Lucky would be too late to do anyone any good. 6/17/11 Elizabeth tells Jason that she was worried about Lucky. She told Jason about the trauma that Lucky had been through with Luke and said that Lucky was on the edge of an emotional cliff. She said that Lucky was in freefall and even though she knew Lucky was strong, he was missing a major part of his support system. Jason got angry and wondered why Elizabeth was not mad at Luke. Jason thought that Elizabeth should hate Luke because he had been drinking when he had accidentally killed their son. Elizabeth said that Luke had not judged her when she had admitted her affair with Nikolas. She said that Luke was beating himself up, and she did not need to add to it. Elizabeth told Jason that he was entitled to his own feelings but they were not hers. Jason understood. Elizabeth said that Luke had said terrible things to Lucky. Elizabeth said that she did not want Lucky's heart to harden. Jason said that Elizabeth would have a better chance of making Lucky listen than he would. Jason told Elizabeth that his first instinct was to try to fix things for her. Jason said that trying to fix things before had led to Jake's birth and Elizabeth's estrangement from Lucky. Both agreed that even though the consequences had been dire, they both loved Jake, and they would take the same steps again if it led having Jake in their lives. Jason said that even though he would happily fix things for Elizabeth, he really believed that her words would have the most impact on Lucky. Elizabeth said that Jason was right. She got a phone call from GH. She thanked Jason for his advice, and then told him she was needed in OR. 6/20/11 At GH, Lisa has taken hostages and shot Spinelli. At the nurses' station, Lucky was on the phone with Mac, Ronnie, Jason, and Dante, who were gathered outside the front doors of the hospital. Lucky told them that Spinelli had entered the conference room and had been shot. Lucky said he had booted up the program that would override the lockdown, but he did not know the code. Dante spotted a helicopter and said that he and Jason would use it to get to the roof and inside the building from there. Ronnie objected because Jason was a mobster. Dante told Ronnie that saving people's live was more important than Ronnie's grudge. Jason and Dante made their way to Lucky, who was still pondering the codes that Steve might have used on the lockout system. Jason suggested Jake's birthday. When Lucky tried it, the lockdown ended. Elizabeth found Lucky with Dante and Jason. She told Lucky that Siobhan was out of surgery, but still unconscious. Dante told Lucky to go see Siobhan and get all the details of the surgery from Matt. 6/28/11 When Sam arrived, Elizabeth explained that she had called Sam because Elizabeth wanted Jason to have a few more of Jake's things besides the toy motorcycle. Elizabeth immediately regretted the offer when she realized that she had put Sam in an awkward position. Sam became concerned as Elizabeth's eyes filled with tears. Sam wondered if Elizabeth wanted her to call Robin, but Elizabeth declined. Elizabeth didn't want anyone to worry about her. "The truth is, I brought this all on myself," Elizabeth confessed. Sam was curious about the remark, so Elizabeth confessed that she had lied about Aiden's paternity, just as she had done with Jake. Sam quickly fetched Elizabeth something to drink and then advised Elizabeth to take a deep breath. Sam promised Elizabeth that Lucky and Nikolas would work things out. Elizabeth smiled weakly as she admitted that she could see why Sam and Jason were so compatible; they were the least judgmental people that Elizabeth knew. Sam insisted that she and Jason had no room to judge anyone, especially Elizabeth. Elizabeth wondered if Sam believed her claims about Aiden being Lucky's son. Sam assured Elizabeth that she did and then promised that Jason would too. Sam arrived at the penthouse. She told Jason about her visit with Elizabeth and Elizabeth's confession that Aiden was Lucky's son. Sam confessed that Elizabeth had been in a fragile state of mind, so Jason wondered what Sam had told Elizabeth. Sam explained that she had advised Elizabeth to take a deep breath, and to let Lucky and Nikolas work things out for themselves. Jason admitted that it had been sound advice. Sam confessed that she had learned from experience because of the troubles that they'd had in their own relationship. 7/26/11 Monica informed Jason that they needed to have a long overdue conversation, so Sam excused herself. Monica explained that she had been away attending every medical convention on the planet to avoid being at home with empty chairs around the dinning room table in a place that she used to call home. Monica then revealed that she had recently learned that there had been another empty chair that her grandson would have sat in, a grandson that she hadn't known about, and would never get to know. Monica's eyes filled with tears as she demanded to know how Jason could have let that happen. Jason confessed that no one was supposed to have known about Jake, but Monica argued that a lot of people had known. Monica admitted that she was grateful that Tracy had spared Edward the cruelty of knowing about Jake. Jason insisted that Tracy shouldn't have said anything. Monica assured Jason that she wasn't there for retribution; she just wanted answers. Monica recalled when Jason had been four years old, like Jake. According to Monica, Alan had been able to make Jason laugh, but Jason had been shy around her. However, once Jason had started to talk, he had opened up, and there had been no stopping him. Monica quietly confessed that she had lost that little boy and then, later, she had lost the young man that he had grown up to become when AJ's car had crashed into the tree. Jason looked crushed, but Monica assured him that she wasn't trying to be cruel. She just wanted Jason to understand what that loss had meant to her and Alan. "I know," Jason told her. He explained that he had thought that he was doing what was best for everyone, but Monica wondered what gave Jason the right to make those kinds of choices. Monica suggested that if he had wanted to make life or death decisions then he should have become the doctor that he had set out to be, not whatever he had become. Monica suggested that if he had become a doctor then perhaps they wouldn't be mourning the death of a little boy. Monica turned away as fresh tears filled her eyes. Jason started to reach for his mother, but dropped his hand at the last minute. Jason followed Monica to the sofa and then sat down when she handed him a photograph. The picture was of Jason at the same age as Jake had been when Jake had died. Jason wondered what the yellow thing was in the foreground of the picture. Monica smiled wistfully as she explained that it had been his first bike. She revealed that he had spent every waking moment trying to take one of the three wheels off. Monica realized that he had carried that part of himself into his new life after the accident. Jason explained that he had believed that Jake would have been safer with Elizabeth and Lucky. Monica wondered how he justified keeping Michael from her and Alan, so Jason reminded her that he had returned Michael to the family fold. Monica agreed, but she feared that it might not last because so much had already been lost. Monica confessed that she was done talking for the moment, but she invited Jason to seek her out if he needed to talk. She promised him that he was a good listener. Elizabeth cried as she threw herself into Jason's arms as soon as he opened the door. Jason comforted Elizabeth for a moment and then led her to the living room. Sam offered to get Elizabeth something to drink, so she went to the kitchen to fetch a glass of water. Elizabeth apologized to Jason, and then confessed that she didn't know where else to go. Elizabeth explained that she couldn't shake the guilt over losing Jake. Jason insisted that the accident hadn't been her fault, but Elizabeth revealed that she couldn't believe that when people made her feel like it had been. Jason was curious who had blamed Elizabeth for Jake's death, so Elizabeth told him about Siobhan's accusation that she was an "irresponsible mother, nurse, and human being" who was happily marching around using the death of their son to lure Lucky into some kind of "love-trap." Jason insisted that it was ridiculous, but Elizabeth acknowledged that she tended to do crazy things when she felt alone and lost. Sam returned with a glass of water and then handed it to Elizabeth. Elizabeth was startled when she noticed the unusual ring on Sam's finger, so Sam told Elizabeth about the engagement. Elizabeth seemed startled, but recovered quickly, congratulated them, and then apologized for intruding. Elizabeth insisted that she had to stop leaning on "all my kids' fathers." Elizabeth was horrified at how terrible that sounded, but Sam refused to let Elizabeth put herself down. Sam advised Elizabeth not to let other people define who Elizabeth was. Sam reminded Elizabeth that they had all done things that they wished that they could undo. Sam insisted that Elizabeth was not responsible for Jake's death, and that she understood that Elizabeth had turned to Jason for support and understanding. After Sam left the room, Elizabeth confessed that Sam's words had helped. Jason assured Elizabeth that everything that Sam had said was true. Jason was happy that Sam had been the one to tell Elizabeth those things because he knew that Elizabeth had expected him to take Elizabeth's side. Elizabeth clarified that she would have wanted Jason to tell her the truth if she had been wrong. Jason assured her that she wasn't. Elizabeth asked Jason to thank Sam and then started to leave. Jason invited Elizabeth to stay, but Elizabeth insisted that she needed to leave. She confessed that she kept telling herself that she wouldn't turn to him, yet there she was. Jason explained that they had a connection. "It's just the way it is," he added. Elizabeth smiled sadly as she told him that Jake had been so much more than that. Elizabeth congratulated Jason again and then left. Jason picked up the picture that Monica had given to him. 7/27 Monica approached looking for Steve. Elizabeth revealed that Steve had left for the day, but she offered to page him. Monica explained that she had wanted to apologize because she had always prided herself on being a professional, but there had been times when she had gotten too close to a patient for comfort. Elizabeth knew what that was like. Elizabeth revealed that she hadn't been able to set foot in the pediatrics wing since Jake's death four months before. Elizabeth was stunned when Monica confessed that she wished that she had known her grandson. Monica confirmed that she knew that Jake had been Jason's son. Elizabeth started to speak, but Monica cut her off. Monica reminded Elizabeth that Monica had lost Alan, Emily, and AJ, which meant that Jason was her only surviving child. Monica was curious if Elizabeth would have wanted to know if she'd had another grandchild. Elizabeth's eyes welled up with tears as she confessed that she didn't know what to say. "Don't, just listen," Monica told her. Monica admitted that she wished that she had known Jake. Elizabeth explained that they had thought that Jake would have been better off raised by Lucky. Monica explained that Jason didn't understand the importance of family, but Elizabeth did. Elizabeth insisted that it hadn't been her place to tell Monica about Jake, but Monica disagreed. Elizabeth assured Monica that Jake had been a happy child, but Monica didn't find any comfort in that. According to Monica, she would only get to know her grandson through other people's memories. Monica didn't want Jake's death to break Elizabeth, but she warned Elizabeth not to let fear and selfishness destroy Cameron and Aiden's lives. 8/5-8/8/11 A violent storm hit Port Charles, causing brownouts and poor driving conditions. Elizabeth was driving Siobhan to GH when Siobhan muttered that Elizabeth had tried to kill her, and then passed out. Elizabeth tried to revive Siobhan and took her eyes off the road. Elizabeth's car crashed into a car carrying Jason and Carly. Elizabeth was the first to recover. Siobhan was not in the car. As the rain poured down, Elizabeth found Jason passed out in the driver's seat. Jason was unconscious and had a bleeding cut on his left temple. Elizabeth found Carly nearby. Carly quickly regained consciousness. Carly had a broken wrist and a possible concussion. Elizabeth told her not to move. Elizabeth found an unresponsive Siobhan just as Dante pulled up. Elizabeth had not been able to get 911 because the cell towers were down in the storm. Dante used his police radio to get help. Monica and Steve were on duty when the accident call came in. Monica noticed that Jason was on the second gurney. 8/15/11 Outside Jason's hospital room, Sam was relieved to learn from Patrick that the mass in Jason brain that had been biopsied was not a tumor, but a non-malignant calcified mass. 8/26/11 At the nurses' station, Robin and Patrick discussed the surgical team for Jason's procedure. Both agreed that Patrick should be the lead surgeon. Patrick felt that Robin was too emotionally involved to assist, and she agreed. Patrick said that he did not want Matt in the OR because Matt was a hot dog whose ego would get in the way. Matt overheard and called Patrick a one-man vanity project who had killed Jason's son. Robin told Matt that he had gone too far. Elizabeth sided with Patrick and said that Matt's combative nature could be hurtful in the OR. Carly, Michael, Edward, and Monica gathered at the nurses' station with Patrick, Robin, Matt, and Elizabeth to hear Sam and Jason's decision regarding surgery. Sam said that she and Jason wanted to proceed immediately. Patrick said the sooner the better. Monica took Edward aside and asked when he had realized that Jason the brain surgeon was lost to them because of the car accident that Jason had been in with A.J. Edward said it had been when Jason had gotten angry and thrown an expensive vase against a wall. Monica asked if it would be awful of her to want Jason to change back. Edward cautioned her to be careful of what she wished for. As Robin settled in at the viewing window to watch Patrick operate on Jason, she questioned her decision to let Patrick operate alone. Patrick told his team that they were small in number, but they were skilled and efficient. Patrick said he was asking them for their best work because they were cutting in a dangerous part of the brain and could not afford to make any mistakes. Elizabeth also fantasized about Jason. In her dreams, she and Jason shared a cozy art studio. Elizabeth was a world-renowned artist, and Jason was an architect. They were childless and free to travel. Elizabeth had just returned from a show in Germany, and Jason was on his way to Tokyo for a job. They were childless by choice. Jason said that he was glad that they had so much freedom; that their lives permitted them to drop everything and go anywhere in the world at a moment's notice. In Elizabeth's fantasy, Jason told Elizabeth that he wanted to be her muse. Jason confided that he was glad that they had not become a clichéd couple. Jason opened a drawer and found an unused pack of birth control. Elizabeth looked uncomfortable when Jason asked if she was trying to get pregnant. 8/29/11 In Elizabeth's fantasy, Jason questioned how long she had been off the pill. Elizabeth said that it had not been deliberate, that she had just lost track. Jason said that he wanted a free and easy relationship, and that did not include being a father. Jason took Elizabeth to a building that he was rehabbing. Jason said that the building and idea for affordable housing was his baby, and he like the freedom of devoting all his spare time to it. Elizabeth said he could be a father and still devote himself to his cause. Jason said no, that it would not be fair to a child. Jason told Elizabeth that he did not want her to give up anything to be with him. Elizabeth responded that instead, she would have to give up Jason. Jason reminded her that he was still there. Elizabeth said that she saw a rooftop in Florence where a man played a sad song on a violin. Elizabeth said that she wanted to dance on a rooftop with Jason. Jason started up a flight of stairs but fell through a railing and crashed unconscious to the floor below. Jason returned to their apartment in a wheelchair. Elizabeth tried to take care of him, but Jason told her she was stuck, just like he was stuck in the chair. When Elizabeth tried to comfort him, Jason said that all he wanted to do was to be free, and Elizabeth had wanted them tied together and they were. Elizabeth said she was trying to be supportive. Jason said that Elizabeth did not get it. Jason yelled that he would rather put a bullet in his head than live like he was living. Jeans-clad Jason walked up to the watching Elizabeth and told her that everything that had happened was his fault. Elizabeth said that she had never known Jason. Jason told her that he was not the man she needed. Great montage of various Jason clips over the years. Robin gathered Sam, Monica, Carly, Edward, and Michael to hear the results of Jason's surgery. Patrick was very professional when he told those gathered that his team had found and removed the foreign particle from Jason's brain. Sam asked the question on everyone's mind when she quietly inquired if Jason would be okay. 9/6/11 At the Webber house, Elizabeth invited Cameron to the dinning room table to celebrate his first day of school with his favorite treat of chocolate milk and cookies. Cam looked glum as Elizabeth poured chocolate syrup into two glasses of chilled milk, and then started to stir. She was curious why Cam seemed so down, so Cam explained that he recalled making chocolate milk for his brother, Jake. Elizabeth's smile disappeared as she admitted that she missed Jake, too, so she suggested that they make a toast to Jake. Cam cheered up as he and Elizabeth clinked their glasses together, and then said in unison, "To Jake." After taking a sip of their drinks, Elizabeth kissed the top of her son's head. 9/9/11 Anthony called one of his men, who was posing as an orderly at the hospital, just as the man was about to enter the drug storage room. Anthony told him to get to the bakery, pronto. Elizabeth happened by, just as the man went into the room. After the orderly left, Liz called Lucky but got his voicemail. After leaving a message, she followed the man to the waterfront. As she called Lucky again, she was attacked from behind and dragged away. 9/13/11 Anthony was on the phone with Joey. Anthony explained that he would have the drop aborted, so he instructed Joey to get Elizabeth out of the bakery. Joey wondered what he should do with Elizabeth, so Anthony ordered Joey to take her to a place to "chill," and not to worry about cleaning up any evidence. 9/15/11 Spinelli revealed that Jackal had deciphered the clues about Luzetta's Bakery, as had Maxie and Elizabeth, who were both missing. Spinelli then admitted that what he had deduced as Jackal was also gone and forgotten. Sam and Jason had difficulty following Spinelli's ramblings, so Sam urged Spinelli to focus. Spinelli reported that Maxie, as well as Elizabeth, had vanished. According to Spinelli, everything pointed to them being abducted from Luzetta's Bakery. Jason quickly clarified that there hadn't been anything going on at Luzetta's; Jason had made everything up to keep Spinelli out of trouble. Spinelli insisted that Jackal had realized that the Zaccharas had been moving drugs through the bakery, and that the answer was in the stars. Sam suggested that whatever Jackal thought he had seen had only seemed like illegal activity, but Spinelli explained that Elizabeth had caught someone stealing drugs from the hospital, and then she had followed the person to Luzetta's. Spinelli revealed that Lucky and Dante had found Elizabeth's cell phone near a dumpster behind the bakery. Spinelli then confided that he had discovered proof that Maxie had been in the alley around the time of Elizabeth's disappearance. Jason wanted to know what it was, but Spinelli confessed that it couldn't be seen by "the bride-to-be." Sam looked away, so that Spinelli could show Jason the engagement ring that Maxie had been searching for. Jason asked Spinelli to hack into the surveillance cameras around the waterfront to check for clues that might lead them to Maxie and Elizabeth. In Jason's hospital room, Shawn reported that Elizabeth hadn't arrived home, so the babysitter had called Audrey to watch the boys. Jason ordered Shawn to get everyone out on the streets to search for Elizabeth and Maxie, and to find out what was going on at Luzetta's. Shawn suspected that the women had been moved from the bakery. Jason agreed, but he assured Shawn that Spinelli was working on it. Shawn wondered if that were a good idea, but Jason assured Shawn that Spinelli could do anything on a computer. 9/16/11 Elizabeth and Maxie, each of whose hands had been bound, tried to find a way out of the storage room they were locked in. Joey unbound Elizabeth's hands and allowed her to check Maxie out. With her back to Joey, Liz took the rope off Maxie's hands and told Joey there were obvious signs that Maxie needed medical attention. When Joey went over to Maxie, Maxie shot him in the face with pepper spray. While he was temporarily blinded, Liz wrestled the keys from him, and Maxie was able to escape. However, the man who Liz had followed earlier arrived and prevented her from leaving. Joey left to find Maxie, while the other man held a gun on Elizabeth. 9/19/11 Darryl pulled a cloth and a vial from his pocked. As Darryl soaked the cloth, he told Elizabeth that he would use the same drug on her that he had used to kill Siobhan. When Darryl tried to put the cloth over Elizabeth's mouth and nose, she bit him and managed to escape. Darryl chased after. Lucky was feeling the effects of withdrawal as he searched the back alleys. He stumbled several times and appeared disoriented. Lucky was slumped down by a dumpster when Elizabeth ran into the alley with Darryl close behind. Lucky yelled for Elizabeth to fall down. When she did, Lucky shot Darryl. 9/21/11 Elizabeth knocked on the door. Elizabeth explained that she had stopped by because she needed to tell Jason something before the wedding. Spinelli immediately tried to intercede by suggesting that some things were better left unsaid. After Spinelli left, Jason noticed that Elizabeth seemed nervous. Elizabeth admitted that she was anxious, but Jason reminded her that they were past the point where they had to worry about what they said to each other. Elizabeth apologized, prompting Jason to wonder if she were troubled about what had happened to Jake. Elizabeth explained that she was sorry for the crash, which had nearly killed Jason. Jason insisted that it wasn't necessary because he knew that she hadn't intended to hurt anyone. Elizabeth confessed that she had made a lot of bad choices since their son's death. "What? You think that's unforgivable, not understandable?" Jason asked. Elizabeth insisted that one mistake didn't excuse another. Elizabeth confided that she would never stop blaming herself for not keeping an eye on Jake that fateful night. Jason conceded that he hadn't kept an eye on things either; otherwise she wouldn't have been grabbed by the men at Luzetta's Bakery. Elizabeth insisted that she had made a mistake by following the thug, but Jason reminded her that she had just been concerned about Lucky. She argued that her mistakes seemed to cost more than others, so Jason told her that they had to believe that they were where they were supposed to be, "right now." Elizabeth smiled sadly as she admitted that he could only be a hero to one woman at a time. 11/11/11 Liz started to hear Jake calling to her. Monica sedated Liz and asked Epiphany to call Steve. Jason visited Elizabeth, who begged him to help her save their son from trouble. 11/14/11 Elizabeth was delirious as she held on to Jason and begged him to take her home to Jake, who needed her. Matt looked on as Elizabeth told Jason that he was the only one who could help her. Matt asked Jason to leave, but Monica appeared and said to let Jason stay. Jason soothed Elizabeth as Monica and Matt worked to reduce her fever. Matt and Monica stabilized Elizabeth, who returned to normal and remembered her delirium as a dream. She thanked Jason, who left after telling Elizabeth to get some rest. Monica followed Jason out of the room. She thanked him for helping with Elizabeth and acknowledged that it could not have been easy to listen to Elizabeth talk about Jake as though Jake were alive. Monica asked about the honeymoon, but Jason was not very responsive. Monica asked if anything was wrong, but Jason said, "No." Monica hugged Jason. She told him that they were family and that he could talk to her about anything at any time. Jason & Liz 2012 1/16/12 Jason was stunned to learn that Sam was pregnant. Sam said that she had wanted to tell Jason earlier, but Patrick had told her to keep Jason's stress to a minimum, and she had. Jason asked Sam how she felt, and she said that she did not know. Jason wanted to know if Sam had seen a doctor, but Sam said that she had taken two home pregnancy tests, which were nearly 100% reliable and both had confirmed what she already knew, that she was carrying a child. 1/23/12 Jason waited in the lobby where he ran into Elizabeth. She was curious about his visit to GH, but Jason said he was awaiting results of his tests. They talked about Robin and learned that each of them had encouraged Robin to tell Patrick the truth about her condition. Kelly and Sam joined Jason. Kelly said the results of the test would be back in a week to ten days. Sam told Jason that she wanted to go home and curl up in his arms. Jason said that no matter what happened, he would be there for her. As they left, Elizabeth mentioned the tests, but when Elizabeth indicated that she meant Jason's tests, Sam was relieved that her secret was still safe. 1/30/12 Sam arrived to see Kelly. Elizabeth was nearby and heard Sam ask for Dr. Lee. Jason noticed Sam descending the mezzanine stairs. Jason asked Sam if everything was okay with her. Sam explained that she had had some cramping, but that Kelly had assured her that she would be fine. Sam thought Jason was there because Spinelli had called him. Jason said he was there for other reasons. When Sam wanted to know what those reasons were, Jason said they should go home and talk. When they left, Elizabeth emerged from an alcove where she had been eavesdropping on the conversation. 3/16/12 Carly, dressed as a janitor, snuck into Jason's room. He asked her why she'd felt the need to go undercover. Carly explained that Sam had banned her and that she had to tell Jason something important. Sam had been lying to Jason for days, she announced. Carly began to cry as she told Jason that Robin had died. 3/19/12 At GH, Carly told Jason that Robin had perished in the lab explosion. Jason said that he had heard the explosion, but his head had started hurting, and Sam had told him that Robin was okay and that when Patrick had treated him, Patrick had merely said that Robin was gone. Jason wanted to know why he had not been told about Robin. Carly said it was because Sam would not let her tell. Jason wondered why Patrick had done the procedure on him. Carly said that Patrick had done it for Robin because Robin had gone back into the lab to get the medicine for Jason. Carly said that Robin had gone back for the drug because she was a doctor, and that meant something to her. Carly said that Jason was Robin's friend and that meant even more to Robin. Carly told Jason not to blame himself. She said that Robin was Jason's friend, and he needed to find a way to honor that. Jason lamented that he had not had a chance to say goodbye. When he asked about the funeral, Carly told him that the service was being held that day. Jason left the hospital. 3/20/12 Jason stood on the bridge, as he confessed to Robin that he had never seen the point of wishing for things, because he believed that whatever happened, happened. However, he wished that he didn't have to say goodbye to her. Moments later, Jason heard footsteps. He looked up in time to see Elizabeth approaching. Elizabeth was surprised to see Jason out of the hospital. Jason explained that he had tried to make it to Robin's funeral, but he had been too late. Elizabeth realized that he was there to say goodbye to Robin. He wondered if she thought that Emma would remember Robin. Elizabeth assured Jason that they would make sure to talk about Robin, and show her pictures, to remind Emma of Robin. Jason argued that it wouldn't be the same, because Emma would never know how smart Robin had been, how little things had made Robin smile, and how hard Robin had tried to do the right thing. "And now I've lost her. I've lost her forever," Jason tearfully added. Jason confessed that Robin had said goodbye to him on the bridge before she had gone to Paris for the first time. Elizabeth sensed that Jason was very upset, so she offered to leave and to call Sam. Jason was curious if Sam had asked Elizabeth not to tell him about Robin. Elizabeth explained that Sam hadn't wanted anyone to tell Jason about Robin's death, because Sam had feared that Jason wasn't strong enough. Jason wondered if Elizabeth would have lied to him about it. "I don't know," Elizabeth admitted, and then explained that she had stayed away from him, so that she wouldn't have to make that choice. Jason revealed that Sam had persuaded Monica, Alexis, Molly, and even Spinelli to lie to him. Elizabeth assured Jason that Sam had only been trying to protect him. Jason couldn't hide his fury. He resented that Sam had decided what everyone should say to him. Jason was also angry that Sam had decided that he couldn't handle the news regarding Robin, so he wondered how to forgive Sam. 3/21/12 On the bridge, Jason confessed to Elizabeth that he had sensed that something had been wrong after the explosion in the hospital. He then revealed that after the surgery, he had seen it in Sam's eyes that something was off every time he had asked for Robin. Elizabeth assured him that Sam had done everything that she could to save Jason's life. Jason was curious if Elizabeth knew that Robin had died for him. He insisted that Robin should have been at home with Emma, not dead. Elizabeth argued that Robin would have done the same for anyone, because it was how Robin had lived her life. Jason was filled with remorse, but Elizabeth explained that it had been Robin's choice, so it wasn't Jason's fault, or Sam's. She urged Jason to forgive himself for being alive, because it was what Robin had wanted. Jason confessed that he was there to say goodbye, but he didn't know where to start. Elizabeth warned him that holding onto Robin wouldn't change things. Jason assured her that he knew that, but Elizabeth realized that he might have found closure if he had attended the funeral. Jason was curious about the funeral, so Elizabeth told him told him about everyone's eulogies, but carefully avoided mentioning Maxie's meltdown. Jason wondered how Patrick was doing, so Elizabeth admitted that Patrick was struggling. She then revealed that Robin would be cremated, which was something that a child shouldn't be told. Therefore, Elizabeth had arranged to have a commemorative brick added in the hospital's courtyard with Robin's name on it. Jason was curious how Emma was holding up. Elizabeth explained that Emma was confused, because children didn't understand death the way that adults did. Jason noticed Elizabeth's sad expression, so he realized that she was thinking about Jake. Jason remarked that the one-year anniversary of their son's death was the following day. Jason was surprised when Elizabeth confided that Jake had loved going to the bridge, and that their son had first seen it when Elizabeth had taken the boys to a nearby park. Elizabeth told Jason that Jake had loved standing on the bridge, and gazing at the rushing water below. According to Elizabeth, Jake had acted like it was the best place on earth. "Well, he was with his mom," Jason quietly told her. Elizabeth smiled sadly, as she confessed that being on the bridge made her feel closer to Jake. "Almost within reach," Elizabeth added. Jason thanked Elizabeth for telling him about Jake's connection to the bridge. Elizabeth reached into her coat pocket, and then pulled out a handful of dried leaves. She tearfully revealed that Jake had taken the leaves home after their last trip to the bridge. Elizabeth explained that Jake had enjoyed tossing the leaves over the bridge, so that he could watch them drift to the water. Her voice cracked, as she recalled that Jake had once asked her if she thought that the leaves would make it to the ocean. Jason was curious what Elizabeth had told Jake. "Absolutely. They're not going to stop until they get where they need to be," Elizabeth replied. Jason wrapped his hand around hers, as she quietly admitted that she missed Jake. Jason's eyes filled with tears. "I hope you can hear us, Jake. Just hope you can feel how much we love you," Jason told their son. The wind whistled, as Jason and Elizabeth opened their hands to allow the crackling leaves to drift away. Afterwards, Jason continued to hold Elizabeth's hand, as they watched the water carry the leaves down the river. 3/23/12 Elizabeth thanked Luke for the letter he’d sent her and for having set up the Jake Spencer Fund on the anniversary of his death. She said she owed it to Jake to thank Luke in person. Liz noticed the handwritten sign hanging over the bar and asked what the Floating Rib was. Luke explained that he’d negotiated an agreement with Coleman to change the name of Jake’s to honor an old Port Charles institution. Luke didn’t want Elizabeth’s son’s memory to be sullied by an association with a dive bar. 4/9 At the penthouse, Sam told Jason about her meeting with Heather, but left out all of the pertinent details concerning Franco being Jason’s twin brother. Meanwhile, she has flashbacks of the information Heather actually gave her, to fill the viewer in and shows the discrepancy between what Heather actually said and what she tells Jason. She did not exactly lie, but she did not tell him the truth. Jason reminded Sam that before she left for New York she had promised him that she would drop the investigation if she did not find out anything important. Jason concluded that since Sam had just told him that she had not found anything new, it was time for her to stop obsessing about Franco and let matters drop. Sam agreed that Jason was right. Jason noted that Sam looked tired and urged her to rest. Sam laughed and said that it was funny that Jason had said those words because he was already back at work for Sonny after Jason's recent brain surgery. 4/11/12 Sam thanked John for meeting her at GH, so John quickly handed her the vial of Franco's DNA. Sam promised that she wouldn't let anyone know where she had gotten the sample. John was curious if Jason planned to meet her, so Sam admitted that she hadn't told Jason anything yet. John realized that Sam thought that she was protecting Jason, but he warned her that, at the end of the day, she was lying to her husband. Sam insisted that she hated what she was doing, so John suggested that she stop. Sam explained that she couldn't, because Jason's sworn enemy had been Jason's twin. She wanted to be able to assure Jason that the baby was Jason's when she revealed that Franco had been Jason's brother. John was curious what Sam intended to do, if the baby turned out to be Franco's. Sam admitted that nothing would ever be the same, but she would find a way to tell Jason. John hoped that things worked out for her, so Sam thanked him for listening. She confessed that it felt weird to be with him. "Why is that?" she wondered. John suggested that perhaps they were put where they were meant to be. Elizabeth rounded the corner, and then stopped short when she saw Sam and John in deep conversation. Sam confided to John that she wanted the baby to be Jason's, so John urged her to get the paternity test done, because the longer Sam waited, the longer it would take for her and Jason to know what they were dealing with. Jason bumped into Elizabeth when he arrived at the hospital. She was surprised to see Jason, because she knew that Sonny's trial was scheduled to begin. Jason explained that he intended to go to the courthouse after Sam's prenatal checkup. Elizabeth revealed that Sam wasn't with Dr. Lee. Jason was curious where his wife was. "She's right around the corner, talking to some guy," Elizabeth told him. 4/18 Sam revealed to Jason what Heather had told her, that Susan had delivered a second baby shortly after Jason's birth. Jason seemed to have difficulty grasping what she was saying, so Sam clarified that he'd had a twin brother. Sam then explained that Heather had sold Jason's brother to a nurse named Betsy Frank. Jason immediately recognized the name of Franco's mother. "Franco was my brother?" Jason asked. Sam quickly reminded Jason that Jason hadn't known that at the time, and that it wouldn't have mattered because of everything that Franco had done. Jason realized that Franco's biological connection to him might have affected the results of the paternity test. Sam admitted that she'd had a second paternity test, and she handed him the results as she revealed, "The baby is Franco's." 4/24/12 Jason and Michael arrived at Sonny’s. Max immediately informed Jason about John's visit, and the search warrant. Max revealed that the FBI was backing John, which triggered Jason's memory about Sam's confession that a contact at the FBI had obtained a sample of Franco's DNA, so that Sam could have the second paternity test. At the hospital, Jason spotted Elizabeth when he exited the elevator. He wondered if she knew where Dr. Keenan was. Elizabeth explained that Ewen had left to deal with a patient in crisis. Elizabeth started to walk away, but Jason asked for a minute of her time. Jason showed her a picture of John on his cell phone, and then wondered if John had been the man that Elizabeth had seen Sam talking to the other day. "What's this about?" Elizabeth asked, but Jason refused to explain. He just wanted to know if John had been the man that Elizabeth had seen Sam with. "Yes, that's him," Elizabeth admitted. 4/25/12 Elizabeth followed Jason to the hospital's rooftop, because she was concerned about him. "She's been lying to me," Jason confessed. "Who?" Elizabeth asked. "Sam. She's been lying to me about John McBain," Jason revealed. Jason rambled about Sam turning to John with her problems, and obtaining a DNA sample from the police officer. Elizabeth was confused about why Sam would need a DNA sample. Elizabeth wondered if there were a problem with the baby, so Jason admitted that the baby wasn't his. Elizabeth was stunned when Jason told her that he had been forced to watch as Franco drugged and raped Sam during Jason and Sam's honeymoon in Hawaii. Jason confided that Sam had refused to get medical treatment after the rape, so Elizabeth admitted that she understood why Sam would be reluctant. Jason apologized, because he realized that he had dredged up memories of when Elizabeth had been raped. Elizabeth assured him that she was fine, and then confessed that she was glad that he had told her, because it gave her insight into what Jason and Sam had been dealing with. She pointed out that there wasn't any reason that Jason couldn't be a father to Sam's baby. Jason conceded that he might be a better man than he had thought, so perhaps Elizabeth was right. Elizabeth insisted that she didn't have any doubts, and then reminded him of how he had loved Michael. However, she urged Jason to talk to Sam to work things out. Jason's temper flared, because the problem was that Sam had confided to John, not to Jason. Jason told Elizabeth about Sam's encounters with John since meeting John at the Queen of Angels church, following Robin's funeral. Jason was hurt, because Sam had told John about Franco before she said anything to Jason. Elizabeth suggested that perhaps Sam had been trying to protect Jason, but Jason insisted that it was merely an excuse for lying. Elizabeth argued that Jason didn't know that, so Jason reminded her that he didn't know anything, because Sam confided to John, not Jason. Elizabeth advised Jason to talk to Sam about it, but Jason didn't want to hear any more lies. Elizabeth insisted that Jason needed to tell Sam how he felt, so Jason agreed. After Jason left, Elizabeth looked up at the night sky, and then asked Robin to watch over Jason. "He needs us," Elizabeth told her friend. 4/26/12 On the terrace at Metro Court Restaurant, Jason admitted that there was something wrong; he and Sam were falling apart. Sam assumed that Jason was referring to Franco being the baby's father, so she quickly assured him that their marriage was strong, and that, together, they could get through it and raise the baby. Jason wondered how they could make things work when she continually kept Jason in the dark. Sam tearfully assured Jason that she had only delayed telling him about Franco, and the baby's paternity until she had all of the answers because she had wanted to spare Jason any unnecessary pain. Jason confessed that he hated that she had gone through all of that alone, but then realized that she hadn't been alone. "Where you?" he demanded. Sam suggested that they go home to talk things out, but Jason wanted an answer. He asked if she had been alone when she had gone to get the paternity test. "Yes," Sam replied, but Jason reminded her that she had been seen with another man. Sam's temper flared, because she knew that Elizabeth had told Jason. Jason insisted that it wasn't about Elizabeth, but rather the man that Sam had been talking to. "It was McBain, wasn't it?" Jason asked. Sam nodded, and then quietly replied, "Yes." Jason begged her to tell him that she hadn't shared the results of the paternity test with John, but Sam tearfully confessed that she had. 5/2/12 Sam's temper flared as she accused Jason of being a hypocrite, because she couldn't confide to John, yet Jason didn't mind Elizabeth, a woman with whom Jason had history, sticking her nose in their business. Jason quickly clarified that Elizabeth had defended Sam to Jason. Jason then revealed that he had opened up to Elizabeth, because Elizabeth had noticed Jason's troubled expression after Jason had showed Elizabeth the picture of John. Sam conceded that neither John nor Elizabeth was the problem, Sam and Jason were. Sam confessed that she felt like Jason looked at her as if she were tainted. Sam needed to know how Jason felt about the baby. "Will you, or will you not, be able to love this child as if it were your own?" Sam asked. Jason asked what Sam wanted to hear, but he admitted that he needed more time. Frustrated, Sam asked how much more time Jason would need, and then wondered if he would know by the time she gave birth, or when the baby was a couple of months old. Sam insisted that she was able to give their child the love that it deserved, but Jason reminded her that it wasn't their child. Jason explained that he couldn't pretend that Franco hadn't been a part of creating the child. Sam was crushed, but insisted that the baby needed Jason's love, patience, and protection. "Please, tell me that you can give all of that," Sam pleaded. "I can't," Jason quietly replied. Sam refused to believe that, because he had been able to love Michael. Jason revealed that he was afraid that the baby would be a constant reminder of what Franco had done to Sam. Sam admitted that she couldn't walk away from her baby, because it was a part of her. Sam reminded Jason that the baby was innocent; it hadn't asked to be conceived. Jason insisted that he just needed more time to think things over, so Sam decided that it would be for the best for her to move out. 5/7/12 Jason brings Kate to GH. When they asked to see Dr. Keenan, Elizabeth was surprised. She told them that Ewen had been attacked in his office and had a severe brain injury. Kate cried out that Connie had done it and that had been what Connie had meant when she said that it would be a long time before Dr. Keenan was treating patients.
Elizabeth said that Kate was talking like Connie was another person. Jason said that Connie was another person and that Kate needed to see a staff psychiatrist. Elizabeth left to find an appropriate doctor for Kate. Dante and Lulu came into GH and told Jason that Ronnie had taken Lulu and Sam hostage and Sam was still on the Haunted Star. Jason headed out the door at a run. 5/8/12 At the hospital, Elizabeth was stunned she heard John McBain’s named mentioned when Lulu and Dante told her about what had happened at the Haunted Star. Elizabeth caught up with Anna near the nurses' station. Elizabeth realized that it had been difficult for Anna to see Luke and Lulu reunite, because it had been a reminder that Anna hadn't had the same good fortune after the explosion that had killed Robin. Anna wiped away her tears, and insisted that she was happy for Luke. Elizabeth admitted that she wished that she could tell Anna that the pain of losing a child would eventually fade away, but it didn't. Elizabeth promised that it would get easier. Elizabeth was sorry that Anna was going through her grief alone, but Anna insisted that she had Mac, Luke, and Elizabeth. Anna confided that it was strange to think of Robert chasing down a son that he had never known. "While you've stayed here to face what you've lost," Elizabeth remarked. Anna smiled weakly, and then shifted gears to find out how things were going with Elizabeth and the doctor that Elizabeth had been interested in. Elizabeth told Anna about what had happened to Ewen, and then revealed that he was in the ICU. Elizabeth admitted that she didn't know if Ewen would wake up. Anna and Elizabeth agreed that life was unpredictable. Elizabeth then quietly confessed that it was Jake's birthday. Elizabeth mentioned that she had seen a commercial of something that she was certain Jake would have wanted. Elizabeth became misty-eyed as she admitted that she should be wiping icing from her son's face and helping him to blow out candles instead of visiting his grave on his birthday. Anna reminded Elizabeth that it would get easier. Anna promised to always be there for Elizabeth. Elizabeth smiled sadly, and then assured Anna that she would be there for Anna too. Anna suggested that Elizabeth check on Ewen. Elizabeth was startled when she entered a room where Sam was waiting to be examined. Elizabeth wondered if Sam were okay, and then asked if Jason had found Sam. Sam curtly informed Elizabeth that Jason had caught up to Sam, and that Ronnie had been killed. Elizabeth revealed that Dante had mentioned that John had been at the Haunted Star. Sam credited John with saving her life, and then assured Elizabeth that it wouldn't be necessary for Elizabeth to run to Jason with the update, because Jason already knew. Elizabeth was taken aback by Sam's hostility, so she clarified that she hadn't gone to Jason with any information. Elizabeth explained that she had simply answered Jason's question. Sam revealed that she knew that Jason had confided everything to Elizabeth. Elizabeth felt bad for Sam, because she knew how difficult it was to deal with a rape, but Elizabeth couldn't imagine what it was like to discover that the rapist had fathered her child. Sam was livid, because even Alexis was unaware of what had happened, so it wasn't right that Elizabeth knew. Elizabeth was curious what Sam expected her to say. Sam was annoyed that Jason had been upset because Sam had "supposedly confided" to John McBain; however, Jason didn't have a problem talking to Elizabeth. Elizabeth reminded Sam that Elizabeth and Jason were friends. "Oh, that's right, friends," Sam snarked. Elizabeth had no idea what Sam was accusing her of, but she made it clear that she had no intention of getting between Jason and Sam. Elizabeth assured Sam that she was on Sam's side, but Sam said she didn't need Elizabeth fighting her battles. Sam was confident that she and Jason would work things out, so Elizabeth agreed, informed Sam that the baby was okay, and then left. When Jason arrived back at GH, he asked Elizabeth where Sam was. Elizabeth explained that Jason had just missed her, but Sam and the baby were fine. Later, Jason looked at the phoenix figurine. He was about to leave when Elizabeth approached. She was holding a bouquet of flowers. Jason noted that the flowers were nice. Elizabeth quietly explained that they were for Jake. Jason's eyes filled with unshed tears, as he realized that it was their son's birthday. "Five years old, can you imagine?" Elizabeth asked. Jason was curious what she thought Jake would be doing. Elizabeth chuckled, as she assured Jason that Jake would have been riding the two-wheeled scooter that she would have bought him. Elizabeth invited Jason to go to Jake's grave with her, so Jason accepted. 5/14/12 Inside Kelly's, Jason spotted Elizabeth, who was tending both Aiden and Emma. Emma was drawing pictures. When Jason approached, Elizabeth said that she was caring for Emma because Patrick was consulting at Mercy. When Elizabeth encouraged Emma to draw a picture for Patrick, Emma said that she wanted her mommy. Jason told Emma that her mommy, Robin, had been a friend to him and that Robin had taught him a lot of things, including how to play checkers and how to cook spaghetti. Jason said that he missed Emma's mommy. Emma said that her mommy was in heaven. Jason said that Robin still watched over Emma, and Emma agreed that she could feel Robin in her heart. Emma went back to drawing pictures while Jason and Elizabeth stood nearby and talked. Elizabeth thanked Jason for going to Jake's grave with her. Jason said it was no problem and that he liked hearing Elizabeth talk about Jake. The talk changed topic to Sam. Jason said that Sam had moved out and was staying at the same motel as John McBain. Elizabeth was surprised and thought that Sam would prefer to be near her family, but Jason said that John had saved Sam's life when Ronnie had held her at gunpoint, and he thought that Sam felt closer to McBain. Jason said that Sam did not need him right then. He said he had been truthful when Sam had asked if he could love her baby. Jason said that he did not know if he could love the baby because every time he thought about it, he saw Franco's face. Elizabeth said that sometimes people did not want the truth; they just wanted to know that everything was okay. Elizabeth added that Sam and Jason had a lot to work out, but that did not mean that they did not love each other. Jason acknowledged that he loved Sam but that they needed to be apart to work things out. Jason admitted that Sam had been right when she said that nothing was the baby's fault. Elizabeth told Jason that he would love the baby when it was born and he saw it for the first time. Elizabeth's phone rang. It was the hospital with an update on Dr. Keenan, who needed brain surgery. Elizabeth told Jason and added that she had known that Kate was sick, but was unsettled by the violence of the attack on Ewen Keenan. 5/21/12 Elizabeth bumped into Jason at GH. Moments later, a nurse recognized Jason, so she assumed that he was there for Sam's birthing class. The nurse started to lead Jason to the class, but Jason explained that he was not attending the class with his wife. The nurse seemed baffled, so she checked her list, which confirmed that Alexis would be Sam's birthing partner. The nurse was embarrassed, so she quickly left. Elizabeth apologized for the awkward situation, but she was curious why Jason was there. Jason explained that he had seen a doctor for a six-week checkup and that he had been given a clean bill of health. Elizabeth was relieved, but she confessed that she was worried about Jason and Sam. She was curious if Jason and Sam could patch things up. Jason admitted that he had visited Sam on Sam's birthday, but they hadn't talked about the baby. Elizabeth realized that the rape and Franco's connection to Jason were a lot to process, but she insisted that it wasn't the baby's fault, so Jason and Sam needed to talk. Jason complained that Sam kept putting John McBain in the middle of things. Elizabeth explained that Sam had a lot going on, so she was emotional. Elizabeth admitted that sometimes it was easier to talk to a stranger, because they didn't have any preconceived notions. She recalled how easy it had been for her to open up to Ewen when she had met him, but Jason argued that Ewen was a psychiatrist. Elizabeth admitted that she hadn't known that at the time, so it had been easy to confide to him. She suggested that Sam might feel the same way about John. Jason conceded that Elizabeth had a point. Elizabeth pointed out that Jason loved Sam, so she was curious if he really thought that his marriage to Sam was over. Jason confessed that he didn't know, but he had been tempted to move forward when he had seen Sam on her birthday. However, nothing had changed about his feelings for the baby, so he couldn't make any promises to Sam. A short time later, Elizabeth walked Jason to the elevator and then decided to check on Ewen. Jason hoped that Ewen recovered quickly, for Elizabeth's sake. Elizabeth smiled and admitted that she hoped that everything worked out for Jason and Sam. Elizabeth and Jason shared a friendly hug, as Sam and Molly exited the elevator. 5/22/12 At the hospital, Sam and Molly watched Jason and Elizabeth share a hug. Molly quietly reminded Sam that they had to get to the Lamaze class, but then Jason glanced in their direction. Sam and Jason exchanged a long, tense look, so Elizabeth explained that the hug had been a celebration, because Elizabeth had received great news about Ewen, who was expected to recover. Sam was curious why Jason had been at the hospital. Jason told her about his follow-up appointment with Dr. Morrucci, who had given Jason a clean bill of health. Sam explained that she and Molly were at the hospital for a birthing class. Molly volunteered to let Jason take her place, but Jason didn't reply. Jason and Sam squirmed uncomfortably, as Molly desperately tried to persuade Jason to attend the class. Elizabeth took pity on the couple, so she gently suggested that Molly allow Jason and Sam to discuss it privately. Jason was startled when Molly insisted that Jason could still be a part of the baby's life, even though he wasn't the father. Sam quickly asked to have a private word with Jason, so he followed Sam to a quiet corner. Jason seemed dismayed that Sam had made the baby's paternity public. Sam apologized for Molly's insensitive remark, but she reminded him that Molly was her sister. Sam admitted that she had felt compelled to explain things when Molly had questioned why Sam and Jason were no longer together. Jason was surprised when Sam suggested that the Quartermaines would have to be told, because the baby was a Quartermaine, and Jason's family would wonder why she was raising the baby alone. "But you don't have to," Jason told Sam. Sam's face lit up with joy, as she asked if Jason wanted to raise the baby with her. Jason admitted that he wanted to, but he feared that it would be too difficult to accept living with Franco's baby. Sam wondered if he might change his mind. Jason didn't know, because she had moved out before they could discuss the alternatives. Sam was curious what kind of alternatives Jason had in mind. Jason broached the possibility that Sam give the baby up for adoption. Jason assured Sam that there were people out there who would love the baby without judgment, as the baby deserved. Sam fought back tears, as she admitted that she had set aside her own personal issues with adoption to consider the possibility of giving the baby up to a loving couple. She conceded that it would be a good solution for everyone, so Jason quickly reminded her that they could have their own children when she was ready. Sam confessed that she had grown to care for the baby after seeing the sonogram and feeling it kick. However, Sam's feelings for the baby had intensified when Ronnie had held a gun to her stomach, because that was the moment that the baby had become real to her. Sam admitted that she loved her child, and wanted to raise it. She assured Jason that she could handle the baby's paternity, even if Jason couldn't. Molly walked up to remind Sam that the class was about to begin, and then offered Jason another opportunity to take her place as Sam's birthing partner. "It's just you and me, sis," Sam replied sadly. 5/29/12 At the Beecher's Corners police station, Jason was questioned about where he had been on January 13, 2012. Jason made it clear that he had nothing to say without his attorney present, so the police officer revealed that Franco had been shot twice at point-blank range. According to the police officer, Franco had been dead prior to being incinerated in the studio. The police officer claimed that an anonymous tip had pointed them to Jason. "It was McBain," Jason whispered to himself, as the police officer walked away. Jason called Alexis, but the call went to voicemail, so he reached out to Elizabeth for help. A short time later, Elizabeth arrived at the police station with the bail money. She was curious why Jason had wanted her to deliver the money, instead of Bernie. Jason explained that Bernie might have been given a hard time, if Bernie had shown up waving the bail money around for a "nuisance arrest." Elizabeth insisted that murder was a serious charge, but Jason claimed that nothing tied him to Franco's murder. Jason confided to Elizabeth that he suspected that John McBain had called in the tip. Moments later, a police officer dropped a newspaper on the desk for Jason to read, while the bail was processed. Elizabeth was shocked when she saw the headline, which read, "Honeymoon Horror." Elizabeth insisted that the story was criminal, because it was an invasion of privacy. Jason accused John of leaking the story to the media. Elizabeth wondered what John stood to gain by tipping the police off and leaking the story. Jason suggested that John would be able to go after Sonny and "whatever else he can get," with Jason out of the way. Elizabeth realized that everyone would soon know all of Jason and Sam's secrets, so Jason revealed that he had told Monica about the rape and the baby's paternity, because the baby was still a Quartermaine. Elizabeth was curious how Monica had taken the news. Jason confessed that Monica had talked about accepting Jason when Alan had taken Jason in after Susan's death. Monica had made Jason realize that Sam's baby was innocent, and that it hadn't been fair for Jason to burden the baby with his history. Jason admitted that he had intended to talk to Sam about it, but then the reporter had shown up, which had stirred things up again. Elizabeth was confident that Jason and Sam would work things out. 6/11/12 At General Hospital, Elizabeth ran into Jason, who told her that Sam had lost the baby and he had lost Sam. Heather sat down and gloated over the stolen lab results that proved Jason, not Franco, was the father of Sam's baby. 6/12/12 Sam was looking at the dragon figurine when Elizabeth knocked on Sam's hospital room door. Elizabeth carried in a bouquet of flowers, which she set on the nightstand next to Sam's bed. Sam read the card that Alexis had sent with the flowers. Elizabeth expressed her condolences. Elizabeth knew that losing a child was the worst feeling imaginable, so she wondered if there was anything that she could do for Sam. "Can you bring me my baby back? Can you keep him breathing, keep him alive?" Sam coldly asked. Elizabeth didn't reply, so Sam added, "No, I didn't think so." Elizabeth recalled how it had felt when people had asked her the same thing after Jake had died, so she apologized. Elizabeth conceded that there wasn't anything that anyone could do to take the pain away, but Elizabeth assured Sam that, if it had been in Elizabeth's power, she would give Sam the baby back. "Yeah, you and everyone else. Bottom line, you can't," Sam groused. Elizabeth confided that she had seen Jason, and that he had been "destroyed" by the baby's death. Sam was unmoved. Elizabeth suggested that Jason and Sam talk, because she was certain that it would help Jason and Sam. Elizabeth insisted that Sam shouldn't have to go through the loss alone. Elizabeth realized that it wasn't her place, but before she could finish the thought, Sam cut Elizabeth off. "You know, you're right, it's not your place," Sam snapped. Elizabeth assured Sam that Jason had seemed genuinely upset about the baby's death, but that only infuriated Sam. Elizabeth realized that she was not helping Sam, but Sam disagreed. Sam needed to express how she was feeling. Sam explained that she and the baby had needed Jason's love from the start, not after the baby had "conveniently died." Elizabeth flinched at the harsh choice of words. "What? Am I making you uncomfortable right now?" Sam asked. "God forbid if I make anyone uncomfortable, especially Jason," Sam shouted.
Sam resented that she had to tiptoe around Jason's feelings, instead of telling him how scared and hurt she had felt. Sam insisted that it had been a knife through her heart when Jason had told her that the baby would be a reminder of Franco. Elizabeth admitted that Jason had felt that way in the beginning; however, he no longer felt that way. Elizabeth believed Jason was sincere, but Sam didn't. Sam wondered if Jason had told Elizabeth about the men that Jason had sent after John, and how John had been prevented from returning to the motel room to help Sam and the baby. Sam insisted that her baby might have been saved if they had been able to get the baby to the hospital, but Elizabeth reminded Sam that they had no way of knowing that for certain. Sam was furious that Elizabeth was defending Jason, but Elizabeth explained that Jason was a mess. Sam invited Elizabeth to comfort Jason, because Sam wanted nothing to do with Jason. "He's all yours," Sam told Elizabeth. Elizabeth insisted that she and Jason were just friends and that Jason loved Sam. Elizabeth agreed that Jason wasn't perfect, and she acknowledged that he had made a lot of mistakes with Sam. Sam didn't care, because she was through with Jason. Elizabeth wondered, if that were true, why Sam was still holding the dragon figurine. Carly was upset because Jason hadn't returned any of her calls, so Jason admitted that he hadn't been in the mood to talk. Carly was surprised when he revealed that Sam had had the baby. "We're over," Jason added, and then revealed that Sam's son had died. Carly was shocked, as Jason revealed the details of Sam's effort to get help for the newborn baby and the baby's death from respiratory failure. Carly was certain that Jason had been as devastated as Sam by the loss. She insisted that Jason and Sam needed each other, but Jason explained that Sam didn't want to see him, because Sam blamed him for the baby's death. Jason confessed that he had arranged for two men to rough up John, which had kept John from returning to the motel room. Carly argued that Jason couldn't have known what would happen. Jason admitted that Carly had been right when she had assured him that he would be able love the baby once he had held it. Carly insisted that the baby's death had been a terrible tragedy, but it hadn't been Jason's fault. Jason revealed that Sam had accused him of setting everything into motion by sending the men after John. Carly suggested that Sam had been the one to set things into motion by moving out, and then leaving the motel with a newborn. According to Carly, everyone had made mistakes, but Jason was not responsible for the baby's death. Jason doubted that Sam would ever forgive him, but Carly disagreed. She conceded that Sam would never forget, but Sam would eventually be able to forgive Jason. Carly was certain that Jason and Sam could work things out, but Jason explained that Sam had accused him of saying that he loved the baby only because the baby had died. Carly urged Jason to keep fighting for Sam until Sam believed him. Later, Jason entered Sam's hospital room. He saw Elizabeth, but not Sam. Elizabeth revealed that Sam had checked herself out and left. 6/13/12 At the Floating Rib bar, Jason handed Elizabeth a beer, as he confessed that he was still trying to get used to the bar's new name. Elizabeth explained that Luke didn't think that a bar bearing Jake's name was the best way to honor Jake. Elizabeth confessed that she hadn't realized how difficult it had been to see Jake's name every day on her way to work until the sign had been changed. Jason was happy that Luke had eased some of Elizabeth's pain. Jason wished that he could help Sam. Elizabeth admitted that sometimes a person couldn't be comforted. Jason explained that Sam blamed him for the baby's death, because Jason had sent some men after John. Elizabeth pointed out that Jason couldn't have known what would happen. She explained that there were no guarantees with respiratory failure, so the baby might not have survived, even if Sam had gotten the infant to the hospital. Jason wasn't comforted, because he still felt responsible for what had happened. Elizabeth insisted that people didn't always think straight when they feared that the one that they loved was slipping away. She reminded him that Sam had once been so desperate to hold onto Jason that Sam had stood by while Jake had been kidnapped. Jason assured Elizabeth that Sam would always regret that. "And you will always regret this," Elizabeth replied. Elizabeth explained that Sam was not in her right mind. She started to tell Jason about what Sam had told her, but then stopped. Jason wanted to know what Elizabeth had been about to say, but Elizabeth insisted that it didn't matter. Jason pushed until she revealed that Sam had told Elizabeth that Elizabeth could have Jason, because Sam was through with him. Elizabeth assured Jason that Sam hadn't meant it, but Jason had his doubts. He revealed that Sam had thrown Jason's friendship with Elizabeth in his face when Sam had found out that Elizabeth had bailed Jason out of jail. Elizabeth wondered if Jason had explained to Sam that he had been trying to spare Sam unnecessary stress. Jason insisted that it didn't matter. He stood up, because he didn't want to talk about it anymore. Jason and Elizabeth decided to play a game of pool. Jason asked about Ewen, so Elizabeth told him that she had a date with Ewen the following evening. Elizabeth confessed that she liked Ewen, because Ewen was thoughtful, kind, and treated her right. Jason made it clear that if Ewen didn't treat her right then Ewen would have to answer to Jason. Elizabeth smiled, and continued to play pool. Later, Elizabeth was frustrated that she had lost. Jason apologized, but Elizabeth insisted that it wasn't necessary, because it would mean more to her when she finally won a game. Jason invited her to play another game, but Elizabeth announced that she had to leave. Jason was disappointed, but he told her that he hoped that Ewen was what she was looking for, because she deserved to be happy. Jason hugged Elizabeth, and then watched her leave. Afterwards, he pulled some money out of his pocket to pay the tab. Jason realized that he had pulled out the phoenix figurine along with the money, so he looked at the figurine for a long moment, dropped some cash on the table, and then set the figurine on the pool table. Afterwards, he left. 6/21/12 Elizabeth was tidying up her living room when someone knocked on the door. Elizabeth dashed to the dinning room table to light two candles, and then dumped an armful of toys into a pile near the door. She was surprised when she saw Jason standing on her doorstep. Jason explained that he needed to talk to her, so Elizabeth invited him in. Jason revealed that he had gone to the cemetery to pay his respects to Sam's son and had unexpectedly bumped into Sam. Jason confided that he had thought, for an instant, that Sam would let him help her, but she simply couldn't get past what he had done. Elizabeth reminded Jason that Jason and Sam loved each other. Jason assured Elizabeth that he loved Sam, but Sam couldn't forgive him. Elizabeth suggested that perhaps Sam blamed Jason for what had happened, because Sam couldn't blame herself. Jason insisted that Sam hadn't done anything wrong. Elizabeth reminded Jason of her reaction when Jason had asked Elizabeth to donate Jake's kidney to Josslyn. Elizabeth had attacked Jason. Jason pointed out that she had been grieving. "Just like Sam is," Elizabeth replied. Elizabeth recalled that she had accused Jason of not wanting or loving Jake, because it had been easier to lash out at Jason than to face what she had done. Elizabeth explained that if Sam could stay mad at Jason, and blame him for everything, then Sam wouldn't have to ask herself why she had insisted on staying at the motel, taken her newborn out in bad weather, wandered into the woods, and left the infant in a planting box. Jason explained that Sam had been in shock, so Sam hadn't known what she had been doing. Elizabeth pointed out that Jason understood that, but Sam didn't, because Sam was hiding from a pain that was too terrible to face. Elizabeth added that a mother could never forgive herself for failing her child. Jason insisted that he had been the one who had failed the baby. Elizabeth agreed that Jason and Sam had both made mistakes, but even if they had done everything right, there hadn't been any guarantee that the baby would have survived. Jason realized that there wasn't any way to know that for certain. "Exactly," Elizabeth replied. Jason had been frustrated when he saw Sam weeping at the cemetery, because he couldn't fix things for his wife. He recalled that everything had seemed perfect on his wedding day to Sam. Elizabeth put her arm around Jason, as they sat in silence. Moments later, Ewen arrived. Ewen apologized for being late, but then stopped short when he saw Jason. Ewen offered to take a rain check on dinner, but Jason announced that he was about to leave. Ewen went to the table to open the bottle of wine, while Elizabeth said goodbye to Jason. Jason thanked Elizabeth for listening, so Elizabeth assured him that she would always be there for him if he needed her. "That's what friends are for," she added. Jason thanked her, and then left. 6/26/12 Steve caught up with Elizabeth at the nurses' station. Steve wanted to know what was going on between Elizabeth and Ewen. Elizabeth downplayed the kiss that she had shared with Ewen, so Steve admitted that he just wanted his sister to be with someone who treated her right. Elizabeth confided that she'd had a nice dinner with Ewen the previous night. Steve sensed that she was about to say "but." Elizabeth admitted that she couldn't stop thinking about Jason. Steve mentioned that she had heard rumors, so Elizabeth conceded that Jason had been upset to learn the paternity of Sam's baby. Elizabeth insisted that Jason loved Sam and wanted to support her; however, Sam kept pushing Jason away, because Sam blamed Jason for the baby's death. Steve questioned why Jason kept turning to Elizabeth, so Elizabeth explained that Jason had needed a friend. "You sure that's all it is"? Steve asked. Elizabeth promised that she and Jason were just friends, but Steve had his doubts, because Elizabeth and Jason had shared a child, whom they had later lost. Steve feared that a part of Elizabeth hoped that she and Jason could make things work. Elizabeth looked past Steve's shoulder as Ewen walked up. Steve noticed her sudden distraction, so he turned to see what she had been looking at. Ewen smiled at Elizabeth, prompting Steve to excuse himself. Ewen invited Elizabeth to join him for dinner at his place later that evening, but Elizabeth doubted that she could get a babysitter on such short notice. "Another time," Ewen suggested, disappointed. At the nurses' station, Steve confessed to Elizabeth that he had overheard Elizabeth's excuse for not having dinner with Ewen. Steve offered to babysit, but Elizabeth declined, because Steve would have to ask Olivia to watch Heather, while Steve watched the boys at Elizabeth's house. Steve suspected that it was just an excuse, but Elizabeth insisted that she and Jason were just friends. Elizabeth turned to walk away, but stopped when she bumped into Jason. 6/27/12 At the hospital, Elizabeth was surprised when she bumped into Jason. Jason explained that he had seen Patrick for a checkup. Jason revealed that he had been given a clean bill of health for the next six months. Elizabeth was happy for Jason and admitted that he looked better than the last time that she had seen him. Jason thanked Elizabeth for listening to him when he had needed to talk to someone. Elizabeth assured him that was what friends were for. Jason hoped that he hadn't ruined Elizabeth's evening with Ewen. Elizabeth admitted that it had been a low-key evening, and that she and Ewen had talked. However, her brother, Steve, had given her a hard time about it, because Steve feared that Elizabeth was holding back with Ewen. Jason was curious why Steve would think that, so Elizabeth explained that Steve was worried that Elizabeth was setting herself up to be hurt again by Jason. Jason insisted that it was crazy. "Isn't it?" he asked her. "Maybe not," Elizabeth replied. Elizabeth quickly clarified that Jason wasn't the destructive force in her life, she was, because she had a way of ruining all of her relationships. Jason didn't want to cause problems for Elizabeth, but Elizabeth insisted that she was perfectly capable of exploring a relationship with Ewen, and being a friend to Jason. However, her brother had watched her fall apart when things hadn't worked out with Lucky, so Steve was concerned. Jason argued that Elizabeth was a stronger person than she had been. Elizabeth agreed, because she had realized that no matter how much she had loved Lucky, they couldn't be together. Elizabeth had learned from her mistakes with Lucky and was ready to move on. Jason thought perhaps he should do the same with Sam. Elizabeth insisted that things were different for Jason and Sam, because Jason and Sam were married and had a solid foundation to build on. Elizabeth was confident that Jason and Sam would eventually work things out, but Jason didn't hold out much hope, because he couldn't give Sam's baby back to Sam. Jason admitted that there had been a moment when Jason had handed Sam her dead son that Sam had insisted that someone had switched babies. Jason wished that had been true, because then he would have been able to find Sam's baby and put their family back together again. Moments later, Bernie called Jason with a lead on Joe Scully Jr. Elizabeth walked Jason to the elevator, where they said goodbye and hugged. Ewen watched them through an office window. |
