Jason & Liz #15 June 29 - November 2, 2012: 5 1/2 hour original edit Dvd #15A Elizabeth stopped by the Floating Rib to pick up an order of barbecue she'd phoned in. Sam noted that Liz had overheard her conversation with John and implied that Liz would run to Jason with the news. Liz replied that, even if she wanted to, Jason was not in town. Liz tried to be supportive and suggested Sam's anger was the result of grief. Liz alluded to Jason's visit to Liz's house. That set Sam off. "I just didn't expect you to make your move so fast," Sam snarkily said. She accused Liz of not having gone after Jason earlier because she was pining for Lucky but, since Lucky was gone, Liz was going for Jason. "You've never stopped loving Jason, have you?" asked Sam. "What about you?" replied Liz. "Have you stopped loving him?" she posed. Liz warned Sam that, if she kept pushing Jason away, he'd leave, and Sam would have no one to blame but herself. 7/6 The fireworks display began. Sam squealed with delight, because she loved fireworks. She admitted that it was the first time, in a long time, that she felt true joy. John smiled at Sam's enthusiasm, as he looked up at the color display in the sky. Moments later, things took a serious turn when John and Sam looked deep into each other's eyes. After several heartbeats, they leaned towards each other, and then kissed. 7/9 On the docks, Sam and John McBain kissed as Jason watched and then walked away. John and Sam broke the kiss, looked around and then kissed again. Jason went to the bridge to think, after witnessing Sam kiss John McBain. He had tears in his eyes and was remembering the kiss when Elizabeth arrived to retrieve a toy that Cam had left there earlier when the family had been there to observe the fireworks. When Elizabeth asked what was wrong, Jason tried to be a tough guy, but Elizabeth eventually got him to tell her about the kiss he witnessed. Jason said that Sam had proved to him that their marriage was over. Elizabeth tried to defend Sam, but Jason barked at her and then immediately apologized for getting upset with her. Elizabeth said that she understood that Jason was in pain and she wanted to help him. Jason turned to her and they kissed. Jason broke the kiss and apologized and said that he did not ever want to hurt Elizabeth. Elizabeth said that no apology was necessary, but if it made Jason feel better, she forgave him. Elizabeth said that Sam's behavior might only be a reaction to her grief and that all Sam might need was time. Elizabeth said that Jason and Sam had too much invested in each other to let their love go easily. Jason agreed and said that was the reason that he had not interrupted Sam and McBain but had opted for the bridge instead. Elizabeth apologized for intruding but Jason said that he was glad that she was there. Elizabeth told Jason that when things fell apart it was rarely one-sided. Elizabeth said that when she looked back on all the mistakes that she had made in relationships the one thing that she wished was that she had given herself more time to think instead of overreacting. Elizabeth said that was her wish for Jason that he had time to process and time to heal before taking action. Jason said that he did not know what outcome to hope for. Elizabeth said she understood and was sorry. Gently Elizabeth took Jason's hand, squeezed it, looked him in the eyes and then walked away. 7/10 At Kelly's, Elizabeth left Jason a voicemail message to tell him that she was around, if he wanted to talk, and to assure him that she completely understood about the kiss, so he shouldn't worry about it. "Must have been quite a kiss," Steve remarked, as Elizabeth ended the call. Elizabeth was startled to realize that her brother had been standing behind her. Steve sat down at her table, as he clarified that he hadn't been eavesdropping. However, he wanted to know what had happened between Elizabeth and Jason. Elizabeth admitted that Jason had kissed her, but she insisted that it hadn't been a romantic kiss. "It was like..." Elizabeth started to explain. "Wrong," Steve finished for her. Elizabeth agreed, because Jason was a married man. "No, because he's Jason Morgan," Steve corrected her. Elizabeth insisted that the kiss hadn't meant anything, because Jason had been going through a difficult situation, so Jason hadn't been thinking clearly. Steve appeared skeptical, but he was more interested in how his sister felt about Jason. Elizabeth argued that Steve didn't know what he was talking about, so Steve explained that he didn't want to see her hurt. Elizabeth asked him to drop it, so Steve agreed. At Kelly's, Jason pulled the wedding band out of his pocket and looked at it. He then entered the diner, as Steve and Elizabeth were about to leave. Steve spotted Jason, so Steve told Jason that they needed to talk. Elizabeth realized what Steve was about to do, so she urged her brother to leave it alone. Steve ignored her, as he told Jason that Jason had no business kissing Elizabeth. Sam stood in the doorway, stunned. 7/11 At Kelly's, Steve suggested that Jason not involve Elizabeth in Jason's marital woes. Steve insisted that Jason had no business kissing Elizabeth. "You kissed Elizabeth?" Sam asked, as she walked up behind Jason. Steve, Elizabeth, and Jason turned to look at Sam, who stared accusingly at Jason. Elizabeth tried to explain that Steve had jumped to the wrong conclusion, after overhearing a conversation, but Sam wanted a straight answer. Jason confirmed that Steve was right about the kiss. Sam snidely gave Jason credit for admitting the truth about what had happened. "I was honest, can you say the same?" Jason shot back. Elizabeth tried to defuse the tension by assuring Sam that the kiss wasn't what Sam thought. "No one asked you," Sam snapped at Elizabeth. Steve suggested that Sam focus her anger on her husband, not Elizabeth, because Jason had seduced Elizabeth. Elizabeth warned Steve to stay out of it, but Steve reminded Elizabeth that Elizabeth had ended up pregnant the last time that Jason and Sam had gotten into a fight. Steve's phone rang, so Elizabeth told her brother to answer it. Meanwhile, Sam conceded that Elizabeth had managed to say all of the right things about how Jason had loved Sam, even though Elizabeth hadn't wasted any time "coming on to" Jason. Jason made it clear that he had kissed Elizabeth, not the other way around. Sam was stunned, but recovered quickly. Sam was furious, so Elizabeth suggested that they take it outside. Sam barked at Elizabeth, but Steve cut Sam off by announcing that he had to leave. Steve wondered if Elizabeth would be okay, so Sam assured him that Elizabeth had Jason to protect her. Elizabeth urged Steve to go, because it didn't concern him. Sam informed Elizabeth that Sam's marriage didn't concern Elizabeth. Sam looked betrayed, as she told Jason that she couldn't believe that he had kissed Elizabeth. Jason coldly pointed out that Sam wasn't in any position to judge him after what had happened between Sam and John McBain. Sam was hurt that Jason would have the nerve to throw that in her face when all she had done was confide in John. "I saw you kissing him last night on the pier," Jason clarified. Sam was momentarily speechless, and then quickly explained that it hadn't meant anything. Elizabeth pointed out that Jason and Elizabeth's kiss hadn't meant anything either. Elizabeth assured Sam that Jason loved Sam, but Sam didn't believe her, because Jason wasn't wearing his wedding ring. Jason admitted that he had taken off the ring after he had seen Sam and John kiss. Sam realized that Jason had believed her when she had told him that she didn't think that they could work things out. Sam assured Jason that he was free to do what he liked with the ring and with Elizabeth. Jason watched as Sam walked out. Elizabeth urged him to go after his wife, but Jason refused. Outside, Elizabeth apologized to Jason for Steve's behavior. Jason was equally sorry for how rough Sam had been on Elizabeth. Elizabeth made excuses for Sam's reaction, but Jason insisted that he finally knew where he and Sam stood. Elizabeth wondered what it would take for Jason and Sam to work things out. She reminded him that Sam was his wife and that his marriage was worth fighting for. Jason pulled the ring out of his pocket. Elizabeth insisted that it had just been a kiss. "Theirs, ours, it didn't mean anything." Elizabeth added. Jason explained that his marriage had died when Sam's baby had died. 7/26 At the nurses' station, Steve studied Olivia's MRI. Elizabeth approached her brother to see how he was doing. Steve realized that she had heard about what Heather had done. Elizabeth nodded, and then asked what Olivia's prognosis was. Steve explained that Olivia had absorbed a lot of LSD, so he didn't know. Elizabeth assured Steve that Ewen was a wonderful doctor, so she was confident that Ewen would be able to help Olivia. Steve thanked Elizabeth for her support. Elizabeth broached the subject of Heather, so Steve made it clear that Heather was not his mother. His mother was the woman who had raised him, Elizabeth, and their sister, Sarah. Steve accused Heather of using him all of his life, starting with when Heather had sold him on the black market as an infant. Steve regretted that he had trusted Heather. Elizabeth bumped into Ewen in the hallway. Ewen confessed that he had missed Elizabeth and apologized for not following up with her after their date. He confessed that he had sensed her backing off, so he had done the same. Ewen regretted that, so he wanted her to know that he was still interested in dating her. Elizabeth smiled, but didn't say anything. Later, Elizabeth called the lab to get the test results on Olivia for Ewen. She was put on hold, so she looked at her cell phone, which had Ewen's number on the screen. 7/27 Patrick and Elizabeth talked as Patrick prepared to check himself into the drug rehabilitation program. Patrick fessed up to Elizabeth and told her about his addiction and his inconsolable grief over Robin's loss. Patrick told Elizabeth that Ewen was helping him. Patrick said that Ewen was a good guy and urged Elizabeth to give him another chance romantically. Patrick admitted that earlier in the summer, Ewen had asked Patrick if Ewen should be concerned about Jason, and Patrick had said yes. Elizabeth tried to explain her complicated relationship with Jason, but Patrick said that his only concern was Elizabeth, and he did not want to see her hurt. Patrick said that Ewen was single, unencumbered, and a nice guy, and all Patrick was advising Elizabeth was to give Ewen a chance. Anna arrived as Patrick and Elizabeth hugged. When Anna asked if things were okay, Elizabeth said that they were talking about Robin. Anna said that that was a good thing and that she was on her way to check on Luke. After she left, Patrick thanked Elizabeth for not saying anything about his addiction. Elizabeth said it was not her place. Patrick said he was getting treatment but assured Elizabeth that it was not the drug addiction that was the problem, but saying goodbye to Robin. 8/1 Elizabeth and Steve arrived for breakfast. Steve was reluctant to be away from the hospital, but Elizabeth insisted that he needed a break. She assured him that Kate would call if Olivia's conditioned changed. Elizabeth was also confident that Ewen would take good care of Olivia. Steve hated being a doctor sometimes, because it seemed like too many people lost their battle. Elizabeth reminded him that he had also seen plenty of people win. Elizabeth revealed that Ewen had faith in Olivia. "And you have faith in Ewen," Steve added. Elizabeth smiled as she admitted that she had agreed to go out with Ewen again. Steve was surprised that Elizabeth and Ewen were back together. Elizabeth quickly clarified that she and Ewen had never been a couple. Steve was curious what had inspired Elizabeth's change of heart about Ewen. Elizabeth credited Patrick, who had made her realize that she might have been taking Ewen for granted. Steve was happy that Elizabeth was moving forward. Elizabeth confided that she was surprised that Ewen was still interested in her after she had sent Ewen mixed signals. Steve was certain that Ewen was thanking his lucky stars that she had given Ewen a second chance. 8/2 At the hospital, Ewen spoke on his cell phone. He assured the caller that no one knew that they were working together. Seconds later, Elizabeth rounded the corner. Ewen quickly ended the call as he admitted that he hadn't seen her. Elizabeth was not surprised, given what he had just told the caller. Ewen explained that he had been talking to a patient who was a celebrity. Ewen claimed that the patient had been referred to him. Elizabeth appreciated that Ewen couldn't tell her the identity of the patient because of doctor/patient confidentiality, but she was curious if he could tell her how Patrick was doing. Ewen explained that Patrick's addiction wasn't too severe, because Patrick hadn't been using amphetamines for long. Elizabeth warned Ewen that Patrick would have a more difficult time giving up Robin, because his grief allowed Patrick to hold on to Robin. Ewen confessed that he felt guilty where Patrick was concerned. Elizabeth insisted that Ewen had no reason to feel that way, because Ewen was trying to help Patrick. Elizabeth explained that Patrick had to get his footing. Ewen appreciated the support, so he invited Elizabeth out to lunch. At the Floating Rib, Jason was shooting pool when Sonny entered. Sonny told Jason about the trip to Atlantic City to get answers about Kate's baby, and Joe's comment about Sonny's children. Sonny had a feeling that Joe was making a statement, so Sonny wanted Jason to beef up security on all of Sonny's children. Sonny then changed the subject by revealing that Kristina had talked to Sonny about her concerns regarding Jason and Sam's marriage. Jason admitted that he feared that Sam would never be able to forgive him. Jason confessed that he had tried to talk to Sam several times, but something always seemed to happen. "Like what?" Sonny asked. Elizabeth and Ewen entered. Jason and Sonny looked up, so Elizabeth and Ewen approached their table. Elizabeth introduced Ewen to Sonny. Ewen made small talk, while Jason looked away. Afterwards, Ewen led Elizabeth to a nearby table. Sonny wondered what that was "all about." Jason had no idea what Sonny was talking about, but Sonny didn't buy it. Sonny pointed out that Ewen had been treating Kate for months, so Sonny was curious if Elizabeth's introduction had been for Jason's benefit. Sonny sensed that something was going on between Jason and Elizabeth. Jason confessed that he had kissed Elizabeth after seeing Sam and John kissing on the docks. Sonny pointed out that Jason and Elizabeth had a lot of history, but Sonny doubted that Jason had been thinking about that when Jason had kissed Elizabeth. Jason assured Sonny that the last thing Jason wanted to do was hurt Elizabeth or Sam. Sonny reminded Jason that regardless what happened, Sam was still Jason's wife, so Jason needed to do what was best for everyone. Sonny suggested that Jason call it quits with Sam if Jason and Sam couldn't work things out. Jason explained that he couldn't be the one to file the papers, but he wouldn't fight it if Sam decided that she wanted a divorce. Jason just wanted the pain to stop, so Sonny advised his friend to figure out what would be less painful in the end. Jason didn't know how to walk away from the life that Jason and Sam had built. Jason became distracted when he glanced at Elizabeth and Ewen's table. Ewen asked if Elizabeth was okay. She was curious why he had asked, so Ewen pointedly looked at Jason, as he answered, "Your friend." Elizabeth apologized, but Ewen assured her that it wasn't necessary. He appreciated that she cared about Jason and that Jason and Elizabeth might have ended up together if things had been different. Ewen realized that Jason's marriage was falling apart and that Elizabeth wanted to help, but she held back because she didn't want to get in the way of Jason working things out with Sam. According to Ewen, it said a lot about Elizabeth's empathy and generosity, which were qualities that he admired. Elizabeth smiled, and then changed the subject by joking about Ewen's deep, dark secret. Ewen looked nervous, so Elizabeth reminded him about his ability to play the harmonica. Ewen relaxed, but Elizabeth teasingly wondered if there was another deep, dark secret that she didn't know about. Meanwhile, Sonny had to say Jason's name to get Jason's attention. Jason looked away from Elizabeth and turned the conversation back to the original subject of Joe. It didn't escape Sonny's notice, but Jason explained that they needed to be ready if there was a chance that Joe would go after Sonny's family. Sonny revealed that Joe was a coward and a liar, so Sonny was certain that Joe already had a plan in place. 8/3 At Wyndemere, Ewen spoke to Elizabeth on the phone. He admitted that he had enjoyed their lunch, so he wanted to know when he could see her again. Elizabeth invited him to join her and Aiden for breakfast at Kelly's, but Ewen had to decline because he had a meeting. After Ewen ended the call, Jerry Jacks entered the parlor. Ewen assured Jerry that Robin had been transferred to a clinic in Switzerland. Jerry wondered what Robin's mental state was, so Ewen explained that she was semi-lucid and had no idea where she was. Ewen assured Jerry that Anna had dismissed Heather's claims as the ranting of a lunatic. Jerry was pleased and grateful for everything that Ewen had done. Jerry insisted that Ewen's unfettered access to the hospital had made it possible for Jerry and Jerry's men to get into the lab and smuggle Robin out. Jerry also appreciated that Ewen had provided the anonymous corpse to plant in the lab. Ewen reminded Jerry that Maxie blamed herself for Robin's death, but Jerry didn't care, because the lab explosion had required careful planning. Ewen felt bad because Robin's family was grieving for a woman who was alive. Jerry pointed out that it could have been worse; they could have killed Robin. Jerry thought that it was ironic that Patrick had turned to one of the few people who knew that Robin was alive for help. Ewen didn't know how Patrick could be expected to move on from such a tragic loss. "Yeah, I know. It's sad, isn't it?" Jerry replied. Jerry wondered how many people had seen Robin, and if anything could connect the mystery patient at the clinic to Robin. "Nothing," Ewen assured Jerry. Jerry sensed Ewen's tension, so Ewen admitted that he could tell that Jerry was enjoying himself. Jerry smiled and asked for details about Robin's transfer. Ewen announced that he had plans, so he had to leave. Jerry was curious if Ewen's plans included Elizabeth Webber. Ewen demanded to know how Jerry had known about Elizabeth, so Jerry revealed that he made it his business to know everything about his associates. Jerry remembered Elizabeth fondly and told Ewen about the time that Jerry had held several people hostage at Metro Court. Jerry revealed that he had played an amusing game with the hostages where everyone selected a nickname for themselves. Elizabeth's nickname had been "Baby's-Breath Elizabeth," because she had been pregnant with Jason Morgan's child at the time. Jerry wondered if Ewen had met Jason. Ewen admitted that he had, so Jerry warned Ewen that Jason was lethal. Jerry was curious if Jason knew that Ewen was "sniffing" around Jason's paramour. Ewen clarified that Jason was married. Jerry chuckled, because marriage had never stopped anyone, especially Jason and Elizabeth. Ewen resented the way that Jerry talked about Elizabeth. Jerry realized that he had struck a nerve, so Ewen assured Jerry that Ewen's relationship with Elizabeth wouldn't be a problem. Jerry warned Ewen that it had better not be, because Jerry didn't want anyone to know that Jerry was in town or behind Robin's disappearance. At Kelly's, Sam tensed when Elizabeth walked in with Aiden. Sam insisted that she needed to get to work and then left. Elizabeth hoped that Sam hadn't left because of her, but Jason assured her that he was the reason that Sam had been in a rush. Jason and Elizabeth sat down at a nearby table to talk. Elizabeth felt bad that things were still tense between Jason and Sam. Jason revealed that he had recently helped Sam with a project. Elizabeth thought that it was a good sign, so she wondered if Jason and Sam had talked. "A little," Jason admitted, but he conceded that things had to change. Jason then asked if Elizabeth had enjoyed lunch with Ewen. Jason had noticed that Ewen had kept looking at him, so Jason feared that he had made things awkward for Elizabeth. Elizabeth revealed that it was her fault, because she had kept staring at Jason and Sonny. She confessed that she couldn't help but notice when Jason was around. Jason admitted that he always noticed Elizabeth too. Elizabeth explained that Ewen was perceptive, so he had probably picked up on the tension between her and Jason. Jason blamed himself, because he had kissed her. Jason didn't want to mess things up between Elizabeth and Ewen, so she confessed that she had pulled back from Ewen because of Jason. Elizabeth explained that Ewen had sensed something between her and Jason when Ewen had arrived at her house for their date awhile back. However, Ewen had decided to ask Steve and Patrick about it, instead of her. According to Elizabeth, Steve and Patrick had told Ewen that she and Jason shared personal connection, so Ewen had assumed that Elizabeth had feelings for Jason that ran deeper than friendship. "Is there anything to that?" Jason asked. Jason didn't want their friendship to keep her from being with someone else, but Elizabeth assured Jason not to worry. She admitted that something had happened on the night that Jason kissed her. Elizabeth had realized that she had been holding back. She had thought that it was because of what had happened to Jake, but the truth was that she didn't have a good track record with relationships, so she feared that all of her relationships were doomed to fail. Jason apologized for making her feel that way, but she insisted that she had made her own mistakes. Elizabeth admitted that, regardless how her relationships had ended, she'd had good times. She wanted to feel those feelings again. Jason urged her to try again and promised that he wouldn't get in the way. Elizabeth confessed that she'd had other reservations about Ewen, including not wanting her children to get attached to someone who might not stick around. She also confided that something had happened on Spoon Island that had made her leery about dating Ewen. 8/6 On Spoon Island in the Cassadine mansion, Jerry Jax told Ewen that love made people sloppy. Jerry cautioned Ewen not to reveal their business relationship to Liz. Ewen said he had not and would not because he did not want Elizabeth to know that that he was working with Jerry. Jerry said that Liz would not have fond memories of him. Jerry revealed that when he had been holding hostages at the Metro court, he had tried to let a pregnant Liz go, but she had declined, and Jason had later saved her. Jerry asked Ewen if it put him off to know that his romantic rival was a trained killer. Ewen said that Liz's relationship to Jason was over, just as Ewen's relationship with Jerry was over. Jerry replied that just the opposite was true. Jerry said that his relationship with Ewen was just beginning. Jerry said that he had big plans for Port Charles, and he needed Ewen's assistance. Jerry said that he had originally been mystified by his brother's fondness for Port Charles but now understood its charms. Jerry added that he was facing formidable opponents in the city. Jerry said that he had tried many times, unsuccessfully, to eliminate Jason, not to mention Sonny, Luke, and Robin's mother, Anna. Ewen said that he had followed Jerry's orders and had gotten Robin admitted, first to Ferncliff, and then to a clinic in Switzerland. Ewen asked what more Jerry wanted. Jerry said that taking Robin had been a means to an end. Ewen said that enough was enough and threatened to go to the police and tell all so that Jerry went to prison. Jerry said that no one had managed that yet. Jerry said that if Ewen confessed all, Ewen, not Jerry would be in prison for kidnapping because it was only Ewen's word that Jerry was involved. Jerry asked Ewen if he was willing to risk everything. Jerry said that Elizabeth would never speak to Ewen again if she found out. Ewen said that he still had to look at himself in the mirror. Jerry asked if Ewen would rather do that from his own home or a prison cell. Jerry said that Ewen did not have the skill set necessary to survive prison. Ewen replied that he might have to take his chances. Jerry told Ewen to wise up, keep his mouth shut, and do as he was told. After Ewen stormed out of Wyndemere, Jerry mumbled to himself and wondered out loud what he would do with Dr. Keenan. Liz and Jason conversed at Kelly's as Aiden sat in his stroller. Jason was concerned about Elizabeth's feelings for Ewen. Elizabeth told Jason about how Ewen had rescued her after Lisa Niles had hit her on the head and tossed her into the harbor. Liz said that Ewen had not take credit for the rescue because his mother had told him that it was bad manners to take credit for a good deed. Jason was still suspicious. Elizabeth said that Ewen used unorthodox methods. She said that she had first met Ewen at Shadybrook, after she had been admitted. She had thought that he was a patient there. Liz said that it was Ewen's way of getting to know patients that he would be treating. Liz said that she had been released before Ewen actually treated her. Liz said that even though Ewen was unorthodox, he had never been anything but kind and patient with her. Liz pointed out that Sonny was confident enough in Ewen to let him treat Kate. Jason agreed but said he still felt that something was off about Ewen. Aiden started coughing, and Elizabeth panicked and thought he was choking. After picking Aiden up, checking him, and holding him on her lap, Elizabeth realized that the child was okay. Elizabeth told Jason that she had overreacted, but that after what had happened to Jake, she worried all the time about the dangers that were right in front of her kids that she might not see until it was too late. Jason moved closer to Liz and Aiden. He told her that she was a great mom and that he also understood panic. Ewen entered in time to catch the cozy tableau that they presented. He asked if things were all right. Elizabeth told him about the choking incident. Jason took Ewen aside and told him that for the record, Elizabeth was very important to him and then left Kelly's. When Ewen sat down with Liz she said that she knew what his conversation with Jason had been about. Ewen said that he had something very important to talk to her about. 8/7 At Kelly's, Elizabeth had a good idea what Jason had said to Ewen, so she tried to explain. Ewen assured Elizabeth that it wasn't necessary. However, he had something important that he wanted to tell her. Elizabeth thought that it sounded serious, so Ewen explained that he had gotten mixed up in something, but he had been unprepared for the consequences. Moments later, his phone rang. Elizabeth urged him to answer it, but Ewen insisted that what he had to tell her was more important than the call. Elizabeth suggested that they go to the park. Ewen agreed, but Elizabeth's phone rang. Elizabeth saw that it was Steve, so she decided to take the call. Steve explained that he needed to get in touch with Ewen because Olivia was awake. Elizabeth assured her brother that she would pass the message along to Ewen. Ewen examined Olivia to determine Olivia's state of mind. Olivia became increasingly agitated and began to cry when Elizabeth entered the room. However, Olivia recognized everyone and knew that she had been injected with something, even though her memories were jumbled. Steve comforted Olivia as he promised her that she would be okay. Ewen and Elizabeth stepped into the hallway. Elizabeth invited Ewen to go somewhere private so that they could continue their earlier conversation. Ewen was distracted when he received a text message from Jerry warning Ewen not to tell Elizabeth anything. Ewen decided to confess to Elizabeth that he had wanted to her to know how he felt about her. Ewen realized that it might be "relationship suicide," but he cared more about her with each passing day. Elizabeth started to respond, but Ewen insisted that she didn't need to say anything. He just wanted her to know how he felt. In Olivia's hospital room, Steve realized that he hadn't called Dante. Steve stepped out of the room as Elizabeth entered. Olivia asked for a mirror, because she was afraid that she looked horrible. Elizabeth assured Olivia that she looked fine but handed Olivia the mirror. Olivia looked in the mirror, but it was Heather's face that stared back at Olivia. 8/9 At Wyndemere, Ewen called out to Jerry. Jerry was annoyed that Ewen had kept him waiting. Ewen insisted that he had responsibilities at the hospital, prompting Jerry to wonder if Elizabeth was one those responsibilities. Ewen assured Jerry that Elizabeth wouldn't be a problem, but Jerry could tell that Ewen was protective of her. Jerry warned Ewen not to get an attack of conscience. Jerry conceded that Ewen had been a necessary evil, who had been instrumental in kidnapping Robin. Ewen reminded Jerry that Patrick was suffering, but Jerry didn't care, because Robin's kidnapping had been crucial to a "transaction." Ewen argued that Robin was an innocent woman. Jerry merely chuckled, because innocent people were easy to manipulate. Ewen refused to hurt another innocent person. Jerry was pleased, because it meant that Ewen wouldn't have a problem with the next assignment. Jerry pulled a picture of Carly out of his jacket pocket, and then put it on a chessboard. Jerry explained that Carly had always been a thorn in his side, so he needed Ewen to take care of something. Jerry filled Ewen in on what he wanted Ewen to do, and then sent Ewen on his way. Afterwards, Jerry pulled out a picture of Alexis. "Time for a much more pleasant subject," Jerry muttered, as a coughing fit hit. After the coughing subsided, Jerry vowed to be reunited with Alexis. In Patrick's hospital room, Elizabeth revealed that she had just dropped Emma off at the hospital's daycare center. She admitted that Emma was eager to see Patrick, but Mac and Felicia had kept Emma busy. Patrick couldn't wait to get home. Elizabeth assured Patrick that it would be soon, because his vital signs were stable. Patrick realized that he still had his addiction, and the cause of it, to deal with. He explained that he would have to accept that Robin was gone, because, according to Elizabeth's Dr. Keenan, it was the only way for Patrick to be healthy. "My Dr. Keenan?" Elizabeth asked. "That's what he is, isn't he?" Patrick replied. Patrick admitted that he knew that Elizabeth had given Ewen a second chance. Patrick appreciated Elizabeth's friendship, so he insisted that she deserved to be with someone like Ewen, instead of pining for a guy who wasn't available. Elizabeth realized that Patrick was referring to Jason, so she clarified that she and Jason were just friends. She refused to apologize for that. Patrick knew that he didn't have a right to interfere in Elizabeth's life, but he hoped that Jason wouldn't be a factor in what happened between her and Ewen. Elizabeth explained that she and Jason would always share a connection, because of Jake, so Jason would always be a part of her life. She hoped that Ewen could accept that. Ewen entered and wondered what they had been talking about, so Patrick admitted that he had been encouraging Elizabeth to date Ewen. Ewen thanked Patrick for the support, so Patrick suggested that Ewen could repay him by giving Patrick the clearance to go home. Ewen wanted Patrick to stay one more night in the hospital, but he asked Elizabeth to get the discharge paperwork started. After Elizabeth left, Ewen wondered if Patrick and Elizabeth had talked about Jason. Patrick assured Ewen that Elizabeth had made it clear that Jason wouldn't pose a problem. Ewen was relieved, so Patrick asked if it would be okay to visit Emma in the daycare center. Later, Elizabeth returned to the room, but Patrick was gone. Ewen explained that Patrick had gone to see Emma, and then seized the opportunity to kiss Elizabeth. Elizabeth smiled, but confessed that something seemed off with Ewen. 8/10 Ewen recalled Jerry ordering him to kidnap Josslyn. Ewen silently slipped into Carly's house. 8/13 Ewen grabbed Josslyn, and left Carly's home without being seen. Ewen arrived with a sleeping Josslyn. Jerry kissed her on top of her head and called her a "little angel." Ewen assured Jerry that he had left no trace. Ewen said that he had delivered Robin to Switzerland and Josslyn to Jerry, and wanted out of his deal with Jerry before anyone else got hurt. Then Ewen noticed Alexis and asked Jerry what he had done. Ewen seemed surprised to find that Alexis was still alive. Jerry said that he was not a monster. Ewen wanted to know why Jerry was hurting so many innocent people and stopped Jerry when he tried to give Josslyn an injection of the same drug he had given Alexis. Jerry told Ewen that he was vastly uninformed. Jerry said that he was not after money or ransom. Jerry told Ewen that he was more trouble than he was worth and that if Ewen wanted out, Jerry would be glad to let him out, right after Jerry told Elizabeth about Ewen's ties to Jerry. Ewen cautioned Jerry to leave Elizabeth alone. Jerry told Ewen that he was tedious and that Elizabeth would remain in the dark as long as Ewen continued to cooperate. Jerry took the syringe from Ewen and gave Josslyn an injection of the same mystery drug he had administered to Alexis. Carly checked on Josslyn and found her missing. Carly was on the phone with the police, giving a description of Josslyn, when Johnny rushed in with Josslyn in his arms. Carly asked Josslyn if she was okay. Johnny said that he had found Josslyn curled up and asleep next to the swing set in the back yard. Johnny asked if Josslyn had ever had a sleepwalking experience. Carly said that she had not. Outside the front door, Ewen showed regret as he walked away. 8/14 Jerry closed the briefcase as Ewen entered the parlor, but Ewen saw the contents of the briefcase. Ewen revealed that he wanted to talk about what had transpired at Wyndemere the previous evening. Jerry was confident that Josslyn would think that it had been a dream, but Ewen was uncomfortable with what Jerry had done to Alexis and Josslyn. Ewen demanded to know what was in the vials that Jerry had in the briefcase, but Jerry refused to tell Ewen. Ewen feared that he might face possible murder charges if anything happened to Alexis or Josslyn. Jerry suggested that a little mystery kept life interesting, but Ewen was not amused. Jerry assured Ewen that everything would soon become clear, but Ewen argued that he had made an oath to do no harm. Jerry warned Ewen that it was too late, so he advised Ewen to relax. Jerry decided fetch some tea, so Ewen seized the opportunity to pry open the briefcase. Ewen managed to snatch a vial as Jerry returned to the parlor. "Can I help you with that?" Jerry casually asked. Ewen threatened to have the contents of the vial tested, but Jerry assured Ewen that it wasn't necessary. Jerry grabbed the vial, and then drank its contents. Ewen was stunned as Jerry revealed that the vial contained plain water. Ewen wondered why Jerry would have water in the vials, so Jerry explained that he had wanted to make it clear to Ewen that he would always be one step ahead of Ewen. Disgusted, Ewen made it clear that he refused to be involved in anything that harmed a child. Jerry gave his word that Alexis and Josslyn wouldn't get hurt, but Ewen didn't believe Jerry. Jason stopped by to visit Carly. Carly warmly greeted Jason and then told him about Josslyn's strange disappearance. Carly suspected that Josslyn had been sleepwalking, even though Josslyn had never done it before. Carly decided to question Josslyn about the incident, but Josslyn couldn't explain how she had ended up outside in the middle of the night. Jason and Carly agreed that Josslyn seemed okay, so they decided to let the matter drop. Carly became alarmed when she noticed a red mark on Josslyn's arm after the hug. Jason thought that it might be a bug bite, but Carly reminded Jason that Josslyn was on anti-rejection medication because of the kidney transplant. Jason suggested that they take Josslyn to the hospital to be checked out. A short time later, Jason, Carly, and Josslyn approached the nurses' station to ask Steve to take a look at Josslyn's arm. 8/15 At the nurses' station, Carly asked Steve to check Josslyn's arm. Steve suggested that they go to an examination room, so Carly asked Jason to wait. After Carly and Steve walked away, Elizabeth spotted Jason. Jason told her that Carly had been concerned about a red mark on Josslyn's arm. Elizabeth agreed that it was better to have it checked out because of Josslyn's medical history. However, Elizabeth sensed that something else was troubling Jason. Jason admitted that he and Sam had decided to get a divorce. Elizabeth felt bad for Jason, but Jason explained that it was for the best, because holding onto the marriage had hurt worse. Elizabeth was curious if Sam still blamed Jason for what had happened to Sam's baby. Jason nodded and suggested that the divorce would give him and Sam closure and free Sam. Elizabeth wondered if Sam truly wanted that. Jason admitted that he didn't know, because other things and people had gotten in the way. Moments later, Alexis arrived by ambulance, followed by Sam and John. Sam stared at Jason as the paramedics quickly filled Elizabeth in on Alexis' symptoms and vitals. Elizabeth ordered the paramedics to take Alexis to one of the examination rooms, while she fetched a doctor. Sam followed Alexis' gurney, while John lingered in the waiting area with Jason. John explained that he had gone to the lake house to talk to Alexis about his case, but Jason assured John that it wasn't any of Jason's business. John was surprised by Jason's attitude, so Jason revealed that he and Sam had decided to get a divorce. "I didn't know," John quietly admitted. "Well, now you know," Jason replied. John was curious why Jason was at the hospital. Jason revealed that he was there with Carly because Carly's daughter appeared to have had a reaction to a small bug bite on her arm. John revealed that Alexis had a similar mark on her arm. In another examination room, Elizabeth gave Dr. Rashi a brief overview of Alexis' symptoms and vitals. Dr. Rashi questioned Sam about Alexis' medical history, so Sam explained that Alexis had been healthy since battling lung cancer a few years earlier. However, Sam admitted that Alexis had fainted more than once in the past twenty-four hours. Later, Elizabeth became concerned when she noted that Alexis' temperature had gone up a degree. Steve decided to run some blood tests, because the pinprick mark on Alexis' arm looked like the one that Josslyn had. Meanwhile, John admitted to Jason that things didn't add up. John explained that he had called the security company, but no one there had called Alexis. John suspected that someone had lured Alexis to Wyndemere, so he was curious who Alexis and Josslyn had in common. Jason doubted that it was one of Sonny's associates or any of the Cassadines. John was certain that the red marks on Alexis and Josslyn's arms were a clue. John spotted Elizabeth, so he introduced himself, and then asked her to let Sam know that he had to leave. Jason overheard John, so he waited until Elizabeth walked away to ask John if John knew how to get to Wyndemere. John was confident that he could find a way, but Jason warned John that John would need a boat. Jason offered to take John to Spoon Island, because Jason didn't think that it was a coincidence that Josslyn had wandered out of the house on the same night that Alexis had been lured to Wyndemere. 8/16 At Wyndemere, John and Jason were startled when Ewen suddenly appeared in the doorway. Ewen claimed that he had received a call from the security company, informing him that the alarm had been tripped. Ewen had decided to check it out, because he had some things in storage at Wyndemere. John explained that Alexis had received a similar call from the security company the previous evening, so he was curious why Ewen had waited until morning to investigate. Ewen claimed that he hadn't checked his messages until earlier that morning. John asked to see Ewen's phone, because the security company didn't have a record of the alarm being tripped. Ewen clarified that the message had been left on Ewen's office phone. John was confident that the police would be able to trace the call. Jason revealed that Alexis and Josslyn were in the hospital after falling victim to a mystery illness, so he wondered how Ewen was feeling. Ewen assured both men that he was fine. John and Jason fired questions at Ewen to ascertain if Ewen might have had anything to do with Alexis and Josslyn's illnesses. Ewen was clearly nervous, so he wished them well in their endeavors, and then left. John and Jason were certain that Ewen had been hiding something. They noted that Wyndemere looked like someone was living there. Jason wanted to look around, but John didn't think that it was a good idea because the place might be contaminated. John suggested that they call the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention or a local company experienced in dealing with biohazardous situations to make certain that Wyndemere was safe. Ewen revealed that Alexis and Josslyn were in the hospital, so Ewen demanded to know what Jerry had injected them with. Jerry made it clear that it wasn't any of Ewen's concern, but revealed that he had been keeping tabs on Alexis and Josslyn. Ewen was curious if Jerry had been monitoring Wyndemere too, because John and Jason were there. Jerry tensed as he demanded to know what Ewen had told John and Jason. Jerry was furious when Ewen recounted the conversation, because Ewen had slipped up by claiming that the security company had left Ewen a message. Ewen suggested that Jerry might have thought about that before Jerry had lured Alexis to Wyndemere. Jerry didn't have time for regrets because he had to move up the timetable for his plans. Ewen was more concerned about reversing whatever Jerry had injected Alexis and Josslyn with. Jerry warned Ewen that it would be unwise, as well as futile, to attempt. Elizabeth entered Josslyn's hospital room and handed an ice pack to Carly to put on Josslyn's forehead. Elizabeth then surprised Josslyn with a lollipop to reward Josslyn for being such a good patient. Elizabeth recalled that everyone had worked hard to get Josslyn well the last time that Josslyn had been in the hospital. Carly reminded Josslyn of their talks about how Jake had helped Josslyn. Carly explained that Elizabeth was Jake's mother. Carly assured Elizabeth that she was grateful for everything that Elizabeth had done for Josslyn. "You're welcome," Elizabeth quietly replied as she smiled at Josslyn. Steve pulled Elizabeth aside to tell her that the results of Alexis and Josslyn's blood tests were back. Steve explained that they had a problem, so he needed her to fetch Sam and Carly. Steve explained that Alexis and Josslyn had the same illness. Steve revealed that it didn't appear to be contagious, but they didn't know how to treat it. Carly and Sam were stunned when Steve confessed that Alexis and Josslyn had likely been injected with the virus, so he had sent blood samples to another facility to be tested. Jason joined the group, so Carly and Sam quickly filled him in on what Steve had told them. Jason couldn't believe that someone had deliberately injected Alexis and Josslyn. Nearby, Ewen eavesdropped on the conversation. 8/17 At the nurses' station, Ewen eavesdropped as Steve explained that Alexis and Josslyn had been intentionally injected with an unknown toxin. Steve hoped that the medications would keep Alexis and Josslyn's fevers down, so that their bodies could fight off their illnesses. Carly and Sam were visibly shaken by the grim news. Jason confessed that he suspected that someone had kidnapped Josslyn and then had spirited the tyke to Wyndemere, where Alexis and Josslyn had been injected with the toxin. Carly decided to call Jax to let him know what was going on. Jason spotted Ewen standing at the nurses' station, so he thought perhaps Ewen could enlighten them. Ewen suggested that Jason was projecting because Jason was upset. Elizabeth and Sam were startled when Jason revealed that Ewen had shown up at Wyndemere while Jason and John had been looking around for answers about what might be ailing Alexis and Josslyn. Ewen explained that he had once lived there, so the security company had called him to report that an alarm had been triggered. Jason argued that the security company hadn't had a record of the call to Alexis, so it had been a fake. Elizabeth was relieved that Ewen hadn't gone to Wyndemere the previous evening, because Ewen might have been injected too. Ewen claimed that he had a patient to see, so he quickly excused himself. Elizabeth reiterated that Ewen had been lucky. "You sure it's luck?" Jason asked. "Aren't you?" Elizabeth wondered. Elizabeth was shocked that Jason would accuse Ewen of lying. Jason insisted that Ewen had lied, because it didn't make sense that Ewen would get the same fake call about the alarm at Wyndemere as Alexis had. Elizabeth pointed out that it was just as odd that Alexis and Josslyn, who were completely unconnected, had been injected with the same mystery toxin. Jason was certain that Ewen was involved in some way, but Elizabeth argued that Ewen was a doctor, so Ewen would never hurt anyone, much less a child. Jason warned her that there were too many inconsistencies, starting with the night that Ewen had fished her out of the water. Elizabeth pointed out that Ewen had saved her life, but Jason argued that Ewen had covered it up. Jason was certain that Ewen was doing the same thing again. Elizabeth wondered if Jason might be focused on Ewen because Jason wanted to be Sam's hero by saving Alexis. Jason reminded Elizabeth that Josslyn had been injected too. Elizabeth immediately apologized. She appreciated that Jason was worried, but she suspected that Ewen had been right to accuse Jason of projecting, because Jason felt powerless to help Alexis and Josslyn. Elizabeth realized that Jason didn't like Ewen, but Jason clarified that he didn't trust the doctor. Jason was certain that she felt the same way. Elizabeth insisted that she liked Ewen, so Jason advised her to be careful. Elizabeth assured Jason that she was perfectly capable of taking care of herself, so it wasn't necessary for Jason to protect her. Ewen called Jerry to let him know that people were onto Jerry. Ewen explained that the doctors had determined that Alexis and Josslyn had been injected with a chemical toxin and that Jason had traced it back to Wyndemere. Jerry wasn't concerned because the doctors didn't know what Alexis and Josslyn had been given nor did anyone know that Jerry was in town. Jerry explained that he had a guest at Wyndemere, so he ordered Ewen to leave him alone and then ended the call. Jason saw Ewen growl with frustration as Ewen tucked the phone away. Jason wondered why Ewen wasn't with the patient that Ewen had left to see. Ewen claimed that he patient had called to cancel the appointment. Ewen spotted Steve, so he quickly asked Steve how Alexis and Josslyn were doing. Steve explained that all they could do was wait. Elizabeth entered the room to check on Josslyn. Carly wept as Michael offered his sister words of encouragement. Carly refused to lose her daughter, but the alarms on the machines monitoring Josslyn suddenly began to beep. At the hospital, loved ones were overjoyed when Alexis and Josslyn's fevers suddenly broke and they opened their eyes. Elizabeth went to the chapel to deliver the good news to those who had gathered for the prayer circle. 8/23 Elizabeth lit candles, as she waited for Ewen to arrive for their date. She thought about her talk with Jason and Jason's admission that he didn't trust Ewen. Meanwhile, Jerry called out to Ewen as Ewen was about to knock on Elizabeth's front door. Jerry noticed the bottle of wine in Ewen's hand, so he assumed that Ewen intended to "seal the deal" with Elizabeth. Ewen revealed that the police were looking for the person responsible for what had happened to Alexis and Josslyn, so it wouldn't be a good idea for Ewen and Jerry to be seen together. Jerry warned Ewen not to say anything to Elizabeth. Moments later, Elizabeth threw open the door. Jerry managed to slip away before she spotted him. Elizabeth admitted that she had heard voices, so Ewen explained that he had checked his messages. Elizabeth believed the lie and invited him inside. Ewen opened the bottle of wine while Elizabeth fetched the wine glasses and hors d'oeuvres. Ewen poured them each a glass of wine while Elizabeth asked how Alexis and Josslyn were doing. Ewen assured her that they were recovering. Elizabeth was relieved because she had felt awful for Carly. She was curious if Carly had managed to reach Jax. Ewen explained that the urgency had passed because Josslyn was doing better, but Elizabeth was certain that Jax would want to know. Elizabeth realized that someone had tried to lure Ewen to Wyndemere with the same fake phone call as the one that Alexis had received, so she was curious if there had been any additional attempts. Ewen became defensive because he suspected that Jason had asked her to question him. Elizabeth assured Ewen that Jason had nothing to do it. She explained that she had simply been concerned about Ewen's safety because he might have been a victim too. Ewen relaxed as Elizabeth admitted that Ewen was one of the most compassionate people that she had ever met. Ewen kissed Elizabeth, but she pulled away when things began to heat up. She assured him that she cared about him, but she wasn't ready to be intimate. Elizabeth wanted them to take their time. "What if this is all the time we have?" Ewen asked and then kissed her again. Elizabeth jumped up from the sofa, prompting Ewen to wonder if her hesitation had something to do with Jason. Elizabeth explained that it was about her and what she was comfortable with. Ewen immediately apologized and agreed to take things slowly. Ewen started to leave, but Elizabeth didn't want him to drive after he had been drinking, so she invited him to spend the night on her sofa.At Pozzulo's, Jason was curious if Spinelli had found a connection between Ewen and the Jacks family. Spinelli explained that it was yet to be determined. Jason was certain that it wasn't a coincidence that both Ewen and Jax had left Australia to live in Alaska. Sonny wanted proof that Ewen was connected to what had happened to Alexis and Josslyn before anyone made a move against Ewen. Jason ordered Spinelli to go to Alaska to dig for more information. "Alaska? Like, 'I can see Russia from here'?" Spinelli asked. Jason explained that he wanted Spinelli to find a link between Ewen and Jax. 8/24 At Elizabeth's house, Elizabeth smiled as she picked up one of her sons' water toys. After she put the toy gun away, she got dressed for the day. Moments later, Jason arrived. Jason explained that he needed to talk to Elizabeth about Ewen. "Did I hear my name?" Ewen asked as he appeared on the staircase without a shirt. Jason looked away to hide his annoyance. Elizabeth explained that Jason had been about to tell her something about Ewen. Ewen was surprised when Jason admitted that he had been wrong about Ewen. Jason claimed that he had been upset about Josslyn and Alexis when he had made the accusations against Ewen. Jason apologized for jumping to the wrong conclusion, so Ewen thanked Jason. Moments later, the hospital paged Ewen, so he explained that he had to leave. Ewen thanked Elizabeth for a wonderful evening and then left. Elizabeth waited until Ewen was gone and then clarified that Ewen had slept on the sofa. "Good," Jason replied. Elizabeth was curious why Jason was really there, so Jason admitted that he had lied; Ewen was hiding something. Elizabeth didn't want to hear it because Ewen had been wonderful to her. Elizabeth explained that Ewen had been there for her when everything had fallen apart. Jason told her about Ewen's connection to Alaska, but Elizabeth didn't think that it was suspicious that Ewen had moved to the same place that the Jacks family had. Jason reminded her that Ewen had shown up at Wyndemere when Jason had been searching for clues about what had happened to Josslyn and Alexis. He was curious if Ewen had ever said anything to Elizabeth about the Jacks family. Elizabeth reluctantly admitted that Ewen had named each member of the Jacks family during Elizabeth and Ewen's first date. Jason suddenly recalled that Jerry Jacks had once given Nikolas Cassadine an injection of a toxin similar to the one that Alexis and Josslyn had been given. Elizabeth argued that Patrick and Robin had been able to create an antidote for the compound that Nikolas had been given. Jason hadn't realized that Patrick had been involved with synthesizing the antidote. Jason announced that he had to leave, but he asked Elizabeth to be careful and not mention anything to Ewen. Jason confessed that he wouldn't be able to handle it if something happened to her. Ewen arrived to check on Olivia. Olivia became hysterical when she saw Ewen because his face appeared as a devil’s. Ewen tried to ease Olivia's fears, to no avail. Terrified, she accused Ewen of being the devil out to steal her soul. Steve tried to calm Olivia down while Ewen and Patrick left the room. Ewen was rattled by the encounter, so Patrick reminded Ewen that Ewen was a good man and that Elizabeth agreed. Ewen warned Patrick that Olivia couldn't be released from the hospital in the state that she was in. Ewen explained that General Hospital could only do so much for Olivia, so if she didn't improve soon, they would have to transfer her to Shadybrook. Ewen returned to Elizabeth's house. He explained that his schedule was clear, so he wanted to spend the rest of the day with Elizabeth. Elizabeth invited him in, but she sensed that something was troubling him. Ewen admitted that one of his patients had had a setback. Elizabeth felt bad for Ewen, but Ewen changed the subject because he was curious how things had gone with Jason. Elizabeth confessed that she had a few questions for Ewen, but she became distracted when she glanced at the television. "Oh, my God," Elizabeth said in stunned disbelief. In Joe's hotel room, Jerry revealed that 1.4 million people lived without clean drinking water. According to Jerry, dirty water killed more people than war, malaria, and HIV combined. Jerry insisted that the people of Port Charles took their water for granted because they assumed that it was limitless. Jerry explained that they drank it, bathed in it, and played in it without giving a second thought to how they squandered a resource that gave them life. Jerry decided that the denizens of Port Charles needed a wakeup call to force them to examine their priorities. Jerry suggested that perhaps the citizens of Port Charles would dispense with their rivalries and unite, because people seldom valued their lives until they were in danger of losing them. 8/27 In Port Charles, Jerry accessed all the television channels and announced that he was back from the dead with news that would impact all of Port Charles. "Greetings and salutations," Jerry said. "Please pardon this interruption from your regularly scheduled programming. I'm sure many of you are wondering, 'Who in heaven's name is this man? Why is he on my television? Where is my soap opera?' If that is the case, please allow me to introduce myself. Some of you may know me as James Brosnan, others, as James Craig, but the name that most of you know me by is my real one. I am Jerry Jacks. Do I have your attention? Please listen closely, because I have something very important to say. I've been keeping a little secret and I think it's time to let you all in on it," Jerry revealed. Elizabeth was at home having tea with Ewen and shouted out that Jerry was insane and she knew that because he had held her hostage along with a lot of others at the Metro Court. Jason went to General Hospital to see Patrick. Jason asked Patrick if there was any connection between Jerry Jacks and Robin. Patrick demanded to know why it mattered, since both were dead. Jason recalled for Patrick that Jerry had injected Nikolas with a poison and then denied the antidote until Nikolas bowed to Jerry's blackmail. Jason reminded Patrick that Nikolas had been saved when Robin, assisted by Patrick, had synthesized the antidote. Jason said he thought that Jerry Jax might still be alive. As Patrick considered the possibility, a nurse told them to watch the TV. Jerry told his TV audience that he was responsible for injecting Josslyn and Alexis and making them sick. Jerry said that he had not been trying to hurt them but had been doing a good deed instead. He added that a confederate had helped him and had taken Josslyn. Jerry said that he wanted to make sure that Josslyn and Alexis would be safe during what was about to transpire in Port Charles. As a personal aside to Alexis, Jerry said that it had been wonderful to see her at Wyndemere, even if she did not remember. Jerry asked Josslyn and Alexis to forgive him for the bad night they had both gone through, but added that it had been necessary to inoculate them for survival. Jerry started coughing and was forced to stop talking and walk away. Once back on camera, Jerry told Port Charles that only Josslyn and Alexis would survive what was going to happen. Jerry told his audience that his henchmen had introduced a pathogen into the water supply during the early morning hours and that it would kill every Port Charles resident. Jerry said that it was already too late for those who had been in contact with tap water that morning, either by consuming it, as in coffee or tea, or using it for bathing or brushing their teeth. Jerry continued that the effects would begin being felt within 24 to 48 hours, and after that, everyone would be dead. Jerry added that people could save themselves with a very expensive antibiotic serum, but before he explained how, the TV screens around Port Charles went to white noise. At GH, as soon as Jerry mentioned a confederate, Jason was convinced that it was Ewen. Patrick listened to Jerry and worried about Emma. Jason worried that Elizabeth was with Ewen and asked Patrick to check on Elizabeth on his way home to be with Emma. Patrick agreed, and Jason hurried off. Innocently, Elizabeth asked Ewen if he knew Jerry. Ewen's guilty conscience got the better of him, and he believed that Elizabeth was accusing him. Elizabeth said that on the contrary, since he had received a call just like Alexis, she wondered if Jerry had been planning to lure him there and inoculate him as well, because Ewen had some unknown association with the Jacks family. As Jerry continued to reveal his plan, Ewen began to unravel. When he shouted at the TV and asked rhetorically if killing everyone had been Jerry's plan all along, Elizabeth finally got suspicious and questioned Ewen, who tried to explain. Elizabeth did not believe him, even when Ewen assured her that he had bathed in the water and had drunk it just like she had. Elizabeth was upset and tried to leave the room, but Ewen grabbed her. Elizabeth was struggling and trying to get away when Patrick walked in and told Ewen to leave Elizabeth alone. 8/28 At the cable station, Jerry warned Jason and John that they would never get Jerry to talk. "No, but I can," Jax said from the doorway. Jerry was shocked that Jax was in town instead of stranded in Shanghai. Jax realized that Jerry had been responsible for the delay in Shanghai, so he demanded to know if it was true that Jerry had put a pathogen in the water. Jerry nodded in confirmation as he revealed that everyone in town had been exposed. Jax couldn't understand why Jerry would do something so dastardly. Jason demanded to know if there was a way to undo what Jerry had done. Jerry refused to answer Jason's question, so Jax resumed the interrogation. Jerry assured Jax that Josslyn had never been in danger, but Jax didn't care because others that Jax cared about had been exposed to the poison. Jax was curious if Jerry had faked Jerry's death in an elaborate ploy to carry out the deadly plot. Jerry refused to reveal any details about his plan other than to admit that he'd had an accomplice. Jason wondered if Ewen had helped Jerry. Jerry remained tightlipped, but Jax wasn't fooled. Jax was certain that Jerry was hiding something. Jason pulled John aside to ask John to call off the police, so that Jason could question Jerry. Jason was confident that he could get some answers out of Jerry, but John believed that the police would have a better chance at forcing Jerry to reveal his secrets. The police arrived to take Jerry into custody. Jax was curious why Jason had asked Jerry about Ewen Keenan. Jason wondered if Jax recognized the name. Jax admitted that it sounded familiar, but he didn't know why. At the Webber residence, Ewen grabbed Elizabeth in a desperate attempt to make her understand that he wasn't involved with Jerry. Patrick appeared in the doorway and ordered Ewen to release Elizabeth. Ewen quickly dropped his hands and took a step back as Patrick advanced into the living room. Patrick stood between Ewen and Elizabeth as he confronted Ewen about Elizabeth's concerns that Ewen might be involved with Jerry. Ewen accused Jason of putting ideas into Elizabeth's head. Ewen reminded Patrick of Patrick's warning about Jason, and Patrick's personal experience with Jason. Ewen wondered if Jason had gotten to Patrick too. Patrick immediately backed down and apologized. Patrick admitted that he might have overreacted after seeing Jerry's broadcast. Elizabeth wanted an answer to her earlier question about Ewen's curious statement about Jerry. Ewen gave a flimsy excuse about only knowing Jerry from the things that he had read about the infamous Jerry Jacks. Patrick suggested that Ewen leave so that Patrick could talk to Elizabeth privately. Ewen reluctantly agreed. Moments later, Ewen stood on the front porch and placed a call to Jerry, but the call went to voicemail. Ewen was furious that he had been dragged into the middle of Jerry's mess. Ewen had no idea what do to next. Inside the house, Patrick revealed that Jason had expressed concerns about Ewen. Elizabeth felt terrible because she doubted Ewen, but she conceded that Ewen's remarks had raised alarms. Patrick and Elizabeth were unaware that Ewen had slipped into the house and was lurking around the corner, eavesdropping on their conversation. Patrick and Elizabeth agreed that they needed to contact the police, so Elizabeth decided to call Dante. She froze when she spotted Ewen standing in the doorway, wielding a bat. "I thought you'd believe me," Ewen quietly said as Elizabeth's eyes rounded with fear. Later, Jason entered Elizabeth's house. He became concerned when he noticed signs of a struggle. Moments later, Jason spotted Patrick's unconscious body on the living room floor. 8/29 At the Webber residence, Jason became alarmed when he realized that there had been a struggle in Elizabeth's house. His concern grew when he spotted Patrick's unconscious body on the living room floor. Jason went to Patrick's aid as Patrick slowly opened his eyes. Patrick accused Ewen of attacking him with a baseball bat and snatching Elizabeth. Jason called Dante to report the kidnapping, and then decided to call for an ambulance. Patrick argued that the hospital would be too busy treating people who had been exposed to the pathogen that Jerry had put in the water. Patrick insisted that he was fine, so he wanted to focus on finding Elizabeth. A short time later, Dante arrived. Jason and Patrick filled Dante in on what they knew, so Dante issued an APB for Ewen. Jason was concerned about Elizabeth because it was clear that Ewen didn't care about her, since she had been exposed to deadly water like everyone else. Jason was certain that Jerry would know where Ewen had taken Elizabeth, so Dante returned to the police station to question Jerry. Meanwhile, Elizabeth was trapped in a car with Ewen. She tried to persuade him to go back to her house before it was too late. Ewen refused to turn the car around, so she reminded him that Patrick had been hurt. Ewen was confident that Patrick would be fine, but Elizabeth argued that he couldn't be certain of that because Ewen had struck Patrick with a baseball bat. Ewen insisted that Patrick would walk away with just a concussion, but Elizabeth reminded Ewen that he had been seriously injured when Kate had struck Ewen over the head in a similar manner. Ewen insisted that he just wanted the opportunity to explain things to Elizabeth so that she could understand why he had done what he had. Elizabeth tried to sneak a call to Jason, but Ewen caught her. He nearly swerved the car off the side of the road as he tried to get the phone away from her. Elizabeth distracted Ewen by agreeing to hear him out. She was stunned when he confessed that he had snatched Josslyn, because she couldn't believe that Ewen had turned Josslyn over to a sociopath like Jerry. Ewen explained that he hadn't had a choice, because Jerry knew something about Ewen that Jerry had held over Ewen's head. Elizabeth wanted to know what it was, but Ewen insisted that it didn't matter because the point was that Ewen had been working with Jerry against his will. Ewen assured her that he had never meant for anyone to get hurt, especially Elizabeth, because he cared about her. Elizabeth warned Ewen that he was out of his mind if he thought that they could have a future together after what he had done. Ewen was confident that he could still be the man that Elizabeth wanted. Elizabeth decided to make another attempt to escape by pointing to something on the side of the road and imploring Ewen to pull over. Ewen was shocked when Elizabeth tried to jump out of the moving car, but he recovered quickly and pulled her back in. He reminded Elizabeth that she had to stay alive for the sake of her children, so she needed to trust him, because he was her only hope for survival. Elizabeth refused to give up, as she secretly dialed Jason's cell phone number again. At the police station, Jason was relieved when Elizabeth called. However, he realized that Elizabeth was still in danger because he could hear Ewen talking to her as Elizabeth tried to get Ewen to tell her where he was taking her. Dante quickly arranged for a tech person to trace the call so that they could figure out where Elizabeth was. Jason's concern mounted when Ewen discovered that Elizabeth had successfully called him. Ewen grabbed Elizabeth's cell phone and threw it out the window. Desperate to find Elizabeth, Jason stormed out of the interrogation room to question Jerry. Dante ordered Jason to stop. Moments later, Dante's phone rang. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention confirmed that the town's water had been tainted with a deadly pathogen, for which there was no known cure. "How sick is that?" Patrick asked, continuing, "For the first time, Jerry is telling the truth." In the car, Ewen was furious that Elizabeth had called Jason. Ewen insisted that Elizabeth shouldn't have done that, because Ewen had only been trying to help her. 8/31 Spinelli updated Jason on the investigation into Ewen's past via a video chat. Spinelli revealed that Ewen had treated John Jacks in Alaska for severe depression. According to Spinelli, a few months into the treatment, John had sought alternative remedies in Arizona, without success. Spinelli revealed that Ewen had flown to Arizona to oversee John's treatment, but John Jacks had died a short time later. Spinelli regretted that it wasn't enough to prove to Elizabeth that Ewen was dangerous. Jason admitted that it didn't matter, because Ewen had kidnapped Elizabeth. Alarmed, Spinelli wondered if Ewen was capable of hurting Elizabeth. Jason didn't have an answer. Spinelli reminded Jason that Elizabeth was wise and beautiful, so Spinelli was confident that she would be able to keep things under control until she could reach out for help. Jason explained that Elizabeth had called him, but they hadn't been able to zero in on her location. Spinelli was curious if Jason had recorded the call because Spinelli might be of assistance. Jason quickly sent Spinelli the recording of Elizabeth's phone call. Spinelli managed to glean a few clues by listening to the recording. Spinelli heard the distinct sound of St. Mary's church bells in the background of the recording, so he narrowed down Elizabeth's location to within a mile of the quarry. Jason quickly fetched his gun. Spinelli promised to return to Port Charles as soon as possible, but Jason warned Spinelli that the town had been quarantined, so no one was allowed in or out. Jason promised to let Spinelli know when it was safe to return and then ended the chat. Spinelli looked up the Sun online, which boasted the headline, "We're Toast." On the outskirts of Port Charles, Ewen paced the floor of an old farmhouse. Elizabeth sat on a chair, with her hands bound in front of her, watching him. She urged Ewen to get some rest, but Ewen refused. Elizabeth was curious why they were in the old house. "I came here for this," Ewen announced, as he pulled a gun out of a drawer. Ewen revealed that the house belonged to him. He had purchased it when he had arrived in Port Charles because it had reminded him of home. Elizabeth was curious about Ewen's life in Australia, so he told her that he had been raised on a farm until his father had lost everything. Ewen blamed John Jacks for the Keenan family's misfortunes because John Jacks had taken the Dead Man's Hand from Ewen's father. Ewen explained that once the lucky cards had landed in John Jacks's hands, the Keenan family's finances had dwindled until the bank had foreclosed on the farm. Ewen's father had died a broken man, while the Jacks family had flourished. Ewen had vowed to reclaim what had rightfully belonged to his family, so Ewen had followed the Jacks family to Alaska. Elizabeth was stunned when Ewen confided that he had treated John Jacks for depression and then had followed John Jacks to Arizona, where Ewen had killed the elder Jacks with an injection. Ewen confessed that Jerry had witnessed the whole thing but hadn't tried to save John Jacks's life. Afterwards, Jerry had used the murder as leverage to force Ewen to do unforgiveable things. Elizabeth wanted to know what those things were, but Ewen refused to elaborate. Ewen waved the gun around as he announced that he intended to track Jerry down and force Jerry to reveal where the counteragent was. Ewen promised to return with the cure, but Elizabeth didn't want to be left behind. Ewen explained that he cared too much about Elizabeth to let her near Jerry. Elizabeth and Ewen jumped when the door suddenly burst open and Jason appeared in the doorway with his gun aimed at Ewen. Ewen grabbed Elizabeth, pointed his gun at her, and threatened to kill her if Jason took another step. 9/4 At the farmhouse, Ewen used Elizabeth as a human shield while he threatened to shoot if Jason didn't lower his gun. Jason refused, so Elizabeth tried to calmly persuade Ewen to put the gun down before things escalated. A fevered Ewen was beyond rational thought as he vowed to be the one to give Elizabeth a cure for the pathogen. Jason admitted that he knew about Ewen's connection to the Jacks family, so Ewen wondered if Jason knew everything. Jason realized that Ewen had killed John Jacks. Ewen angrily accused Jason of trying to prove to Elizabeth that Jason was better for her than Ewen was. Ewen threatened to kill Jason if Jason didn't cooperate. Jason urged Ewen to release Elizabeth, but Ewen refused to let the woman he loved go. Ewen wanted her to see him as the hero, not Jason, so he shot Jason in the leg. Elizabeth was frantic to get to Jason, so she struggled violently to get free as she screamed that she wanted nothing to do with Ewen. Ewen's grip slackened as he realized that Elizabeth loved Jason, not him. Jason waited until Elizabeth was safely away from Ewen before he shot Ewen in the stomach. Ewen crumpled to the ground in agony as Elizabeth got the gun away from Ewen and then raced to Jason's side. Ewen cried out for help, while Jason cut the tape binding Elizabeth's wrists. Jason regretted that he hadn't rescued her sooner, but Elizabeth merely focused on tending Jason's gunshot wound. Afterwards, Jason aimed the gun at Ewen, while Elizabeth checked Ewen's injury. Elizabeth warned Jason that Ewen would die if they didn't get Ewen to the hospital. At the hospital, Elizabeth helped a limping Jason to the nurses' station. Nearby, Ewen was on a gurney, groaning in pain. Elizabeth feared that Jason had nicked an artery, so Steve instructed her to take Jason to an examination room. Kate begged Steve to help Ewen and reminded him of his oath to do no harm. Steve reluctantly followed Ewen's gurney. In the examination room, Elizabeth cleaned Jason's gunshot wound. She recalled Jason being in a similar situation years earlier when she had found him in a chapel and taken him to her studio. Jason wondered how many times she had saved his life. Elizabeth insisted it didn't matter, because he had saved her life earlier. Jason admitted that Spinelli deserved the credit for locating her, so Elizabeth promised to thank Spinelli the next time that she saw him. "You know how I feel about you. I wasn't going to let that bastard hurt you," Jason solemnly confessed. 9/5 In an examination room, Ewen writhed in pain as Steve examined Ewen's gunshot wound. Steve sent the nurse to fetch a bag of blood for a transfusion as he conceded that Jason had known where to shoot Ewen. However, Steve refused to play God with another patient's life, so he promised to do his best to save Ewen. Ewen realized that his injury was fatal, so he implored Steve to focus on the patients who truly needed a doctor. Steve ignored Ewen, but Ewen was adamant, so Steve reluctantly ceased his life-saving efforts and offered to call a priest. Ewen insisted on talking to Patrick instead. Ewen's breathing was labored as Patrick entered the examination room. Ewen explained that he wanted to apologize, so Patrick made it clear that he despised Ewen for hurting Elizabeth. Ewen clarified that it was about Robin, but his heart gave out before he could elaborate. In an examination room, Elizabeth finished cleaning and wrapping Jason's gunshot wound. Jason was more concerned about how she was holding up after the ordeal with Ewen. Elizabeth assured him that she was fine, but her eyes filled with tears. Jason held her as she cried. Elizabeth regretted that she had trusted Ewen instead of seeing him for who he was, but Jason insisted that it wasn't her fault. Elizabeth thought that it was ironic that everyone had praised Ewen for being wonderful, while reminding her that Jason was a killer. "Turned out, it was the other way around," Elizabeth said before she left to fetch some antibiotics for Jason. She returned a short time later with a syringe. She gave Jason an injection of antibiotics as she explained that the hospital was swamped, so it would be awhile before a doctor could remove the bullet from Jason's leg. Elizabeth felt terrible that Jason had been shot while rescuing her. Jason assured her that he didn't blame her for anything; he was just happy that he had been able to get to her in time. "Me too," Elizabeth admitted. Jason reminded Elizabeth that she hadn't fully trusted Ewen in the beginning, but she argued that she had convinced herself that Ewen was the right man for her. Jason felt bad for Elizabeth because she had been hoping for a good relationship. Elizabeth started to tell Jason something, but John entered the room, looking for someone to help Sam. John, Sam, Jason, and Elizabeth all stared awkwardly at each other until Sam broke the silence by assuring everyone that she was fine. John disagreed and filled Elizabeth in on Sam's fainting spell and injury. Elizabeth checked the wound and assured Sam that stitches weren't necessary. However, Elizabeth insisted on cleaning the gash. Sam asked about Jason's leg, so Elizabeth revealed that Ewen had shot Jason after Ewen had kidnapped Elizabeth. John was surprised that Ewen had gained the upper hand with Jason, so Jason admitted that he had shot Ewen in the stomach. Sam wondered if Elizabeth was okay. Elizabeth nodded as she credited Jason for saving her life. Moments later, someone called to report to John that Jerry had escaped from police custody. John ended the call and announced that he had to get to the police station because Jerry was on the loose. Jason started to go with John, but Elizabeth made it clear that Jason couldn't go anywhere while the bullet was lodged in his leg. Moments later, Steve arrived to fetch Elizabeth. At the nurses' station, Elizabeth asked Patrick how Ewen was doing. Elizabeth was saddened when Patrick revealed that Ewen had died. Patrick was curious if Elizabeth recalled Ewen ever talking about Robin. Elizabeth wondered why Patrick had asked. Patrick told her that Ewen had died saying Robin's name. Elizabeth was surprised because she only remembered Ewen talking about Robin in the context of Patrick's grief. Elizabeth assured Patrick that Ewen had seemed to genuinely want to help Patrick. However, she conceded that she was probably the wrong person to ask, since Ewen had been keeping secrets from her. Patrick appreciated that he should be focused on the sick patients, but he wanted to know what Ewen had been trying to tell him. Patrick and Elizabeth entered the examination room. Patrick checked Sam for signs of a head injury, while Elizabeth told Jason that he would have to wait a few more hours for a doctor to remove the bullet from his leg. Sam watched as Elizabeth asked if Jason was in pain. Jason assured Elizabeth that he was fine, but Elizabeth offered to get him pain medication, if he needed it. Patrick gained Sam's attention by shinning a penlight in her eyes. Meanwhile, Elizabeth told Jason that Ewen had died. "Well, at least you're safe," Jason replied. Patrick was furious that Ewen had deceived everyone. Elizabeth revealed that Ewen had denied any knowledge of Jerry's plan to put the pathogen in the water. Patrick quietly admitted they were all getting progressively sicker, so Jerry's warning about the pathogen had been true. Jason changed the subject by asking Patrick to pull Sam's son's medical records. Patrick revealed that it wasn't necessary because they were part of Sam's patient file. Sam was surprised when Jason asked Patrick to explain why Sam's son had died. Patrick checked the records and explained that the baby's lungs had not been fully developed, so the baby had died of respiratory failure. Jason was curious if the baby could have been saved if the newborn had been put on a ventilator. Patrick explained that nothing could have been done to save the infant because the baby's lungs had been too weak. Patrick handed the file to Elizabeth before he took Sam to radiology. Elizabeth reiterated that the baby's death had not been Sam or Jason's fault. Jason asked to see the file, so Elizabeth handed it to him. Jason immediately spotted a discrepancy. He explained that Sam and Franco had O-positive blood types, but the baby's blood type had been AB-negative. Elizabeth agreed that it was impossible for two O-positive parents to have an AB-negative child, but she was certain that it was a clerical error. "What if the baby who died wasn't Sam's?" Jason asked. 9/10 In a GH examination room, Jason looked at the results of Sam's baby's blood tests and realized that Sam and Franco could not be its parents. Jason told Elizabeth that he remembered that Sam had not believed that the dead baby had been hers. Elizabeth was sure that the blood tests contained a typo, but Jason was not so sure. Elizabeth played devil's advocate and told Jason not to get his hopes up. Jason said that things did not add up, and he had to know the truth. Jason said that something was wrong because the blood types were off, and that the baby that died had hemophilia, a condition not diagnosed before birth, which should have been diagnosed because of Sam's excellent prenatal care. Elizabeth asked for an explanation of how the switch could have occurred. Jason admitted that he did not have one, but that there was a period of time that could not be accounted for after Sam put the baby in the planter box and passed out in the garden shed and before. Jason arrived and found the dead baby. Elizabeth thought that Jason's theory was a stretch and suggested that he was in denial. Jason asked how he could confirm the paternity of the dead infant. Elizabeth said that a second autopsy was needed, and Sam would have to give permission. Elizabeth was convinced that Sam's baby was dead and that Jason was clutching at straws. Elizabeth said that nothing would be proven, and it would hurt Sam. She asked if Jason really wanted to hurt Sam that way. Sam was passing by and overheard. She asked what Elizabeth meant by her remark. Jason said that they had been discussing Sam's baby. Sam said that she was sorry about everything and knew that her baby was dead and could not have survived. She said that the baby's death could not have been Jason's fault. Sam admitted that she could not help fantasizing about what their life would have been like if the baby had lived. Sam almost said more, but instead remarked that she had to go and walked away. Jason turned to Elizabeth and admitted that he could be wrong about the baby but said that he had to know the answers. Elizabeth suggested that just as Sam's fantasies were a way to deal with her grief, so was Jason's theory that Sam's baby was still alive, a way to deal with his grief. Jason said that regardless, he still needed to find out the truth. In the lobby, Steve told Elizabeth that the lab and CDC still had no results and had been unable to find the antibody in Tracy's blood. Steve and Elizabeth hugged and told each other how much they cared for each other. Steve looked at a tearful Elizabeth and assured her that they were not saying goodbye. Elizabeth checked on Jason again. He thanked her for her help with the baby's medical file. Elizabeth said it did not matter. Jason said he refused to accept that they would all die. Jason reiterated that despite any obstacles, he had to know the truth about Sam's baby. 9/11 Tracy does a nice voiceover to various action, emotional scenes around Port Charles. She says that Edward didn't have any room for sadness in his life. Her father had lived a long good life, filled with laughter, adventure, happiness, love, and good fortune. There had been pain, loss, sadness, and regret, but Edward wouldn't have changed a thing. Tracy explained that if it was Edward's time, then her father would be reunited with the woman he loved, Lila. 9/12 Elizabeth wheeled Jason into an examination room, so that he could wait until an operating room became available. Jason jumped out of the wheelchair because he intended to track down Jerry and find the cure. Elizabeth didn't care if Jason hated her, but she refused to let him walk out of the hospital with a gunshot wound in his leg, because he could bleed to death in the parking lot. Jason assured her that he didn't hate her. Elizabeth challenged him to prove it by getting on the table and staying put. Jason sat down as instructed, and then asked how bad it was in the emergency room. Elizabeth revealed that the only place more crowded was the chapel. Jason imagined that many were eager to set things right before they died. Elizabeth suspected that Jason was thinking about the possibility that Sam's baby might be alive. Moments later, Monica walked in because she needed Elizabeth to cover for a nurse who had become too ill to work. At the nurses' station, Steve saw Elizabeth looking at Ewen's patient file. He apologized for leaving it out for her to find, but Elizabeth assured him that it was okay. Steve regretted that he had pushed Elizabeth to date Ewen because Ewen had turned out to be more of a danger to her than Jason was. Elizabeth confessed that Steve had been right to question if she had been holding back with Ewen because of Jason. Steve wondered if Elizabeth had said that because Ewen had died. Elizabeth was grateful to Jason for saving her life, but she reminded Steve that she had saved Jason's life in the past. Elizabeth pointed out that she and Jason had a history that went back years before Jake. She recalled Jason being the only person who hadn't tried to fix things for her when she had thought that Lucky had died. Elizabeth revealed that Jason had listened to her without diminishing how she had felt. Elizabeth appreciated that Jason had always been like that with her. Elizabeth conceded that she and Jason had drifted in and out of each other's lives, but her feelings for Jason had never quite gone away. Steve wondered if Jason felt the same way about Elizabeth. Elizabeth confided that sometimes it seemed as if Jason did. She admitted that she had started to talk to Jason about it, but John and Sam had walked in, so Elizabeth had dropped it. Steve thought that it had been for the best, because Jason and Elizabeth's lives were not compatible. Steve pointed out that Jason was a criminal, and Elizabeth was too good of a mother to expose her children to the violence of Jason's lifestyle. Elizabeth reminded her brother that they might die from exposure to the pathogen, so she didn't know why she should be expected to stay away from Jason. Steve didn't want his sister to get hurt. Elizabeth assured Steve that she hadn't told Jason how she felt. Meanwhile, Elizabeth called her sons to tell them the good news. She assured her boys that she loved them and promised that they wouldn't waste another single moment. She was unaware that Jason had rounded the corner and had overheard her conversation. This episode featured the song, "I'll follow you," by Jon McLaughlin. 9/13 Sonny entered Jason's hospital room to check on his friend. Jason assured Sonny that the bullet had been removed from Jason's leg, so Jason was on the mend. Sonny was surprised that Ewen had managed to shoot Jason, so Sonny jokingly asked if Jason was slowing down. Jason admitted that he hadn't taken the shot right away because he had been afraid of hitting Elizabeth. Sonny was relieved that Ewen and Jerry were dead, which meant that it was over. "Except it isn't," Jason quietly replied. Sonny recounted the events that had transpired at the marina, following the shootout between Sonny and Jerry. Sonny revealed that he hadn't seen any sign of Jax after the explosion, so someone would have to break the news to Carly. Jason started to get out of bed to do just that, but Sonny stopped him. Sonny hadn't forgotten that it was Jason's birthday, so Sonny decided to tell Carly that Jax was dead. 9/14 At the hospital, Jason was limping on crutches as he and Spinelli made their way down the hallway. Jason appreciated Spinelli's help looking into the discrepancies with Sam's baby. Moments later, they bumped into Elizabeth. Spinelli told her that it was a pleasure to see her looking so well after her brush with death. "Which one?" Elizabeth asked. Spinelli felt bad that Ewen had put Elizabeth through such an ordeal. Elizabeth pointed out that if it hadn't been for Spinelli, Ewen might have gotten away with it. Spinelli insisted that the credit for saving Elizabeth went to Jason. Elizabeth smiled and thanked both men. Spinelli excused himself because he had an important job to attend to. He wished Jason a happy birthday and then left. Elizabeth also wished Jason a happy birthday, but Jason confessed that he wished that he could erase it altogether because it was also Franco's birthday. Elizabeth apologized and changed the subject. She suspected that Spinelli was looking for answers to Jason's questions about Sam's baby. Jason admitted that he trusted Spinelli to get to the bottom of things. They approached the nurses' station, so Elizabeth revealed that she had a birthday present for Jason; she had gotten the doctors to approve Jason's discharge from the hospital. Jason smiled with relief. Elizabeth's shift was ending, so she insisted on taking him home because she wanted to talk to him about something that she wasn't comfortable discussing at the hospital. At the penthouse, Jason was taken aback by the birthday decorations and balloons. Elizabeth explained that she had forced Max to give her the key to the penthouse so that she could decorate for Jason's birthday. She had thought that it would be a nice way to celebrate life after what they had been through, but that had been before Jason had told her about Franco. Elizabeth apologized and then started to take everything down, but Jason told her to stop. Elizabeth didn't want Jason to pretend on her account, so Jason confessed that he appreciated the effort and he appreciated Elizabeth. Elizabeth seized the opportunity to talk to him about their relationship. She didn't want to waste any more time being scared, so she wanted Jason to know how she felt. Elizabeth confessed that she had gone out with Ewen because she couldn't have Jason. She realized that the kiss on the bridge had been a rebound thing, but she had needed to find a way to forget about Jason. Elizabeth regretted that she had ignored Jason's warnings about Ewen. Jason apologized, but Elizabeth insisted that he didn't have any reason to be sorry because he had saved her life. Elizabeth had been terrified when Ewen had held a gun to her, but she had completely trusted Jason; she always had. Elizabeth acknowledged that there had always been a pull between her and Jason that she couldn't explain but that she didn't want to ignore anymore. Elizabeth confessed that when she looked at him, she didn't just see Jake's father or Emily's brother, but her friend. Elizabeth conceded hat there had been a lot of missed chances for them over the years, so she didn't want another to pass them by. Jason's eyes filled with tears as she suggested that they didn't have to unless something had changed. "No," Jason confessed. Elizabeth wanted to be sure that Jason and Sam were still getting a divorce. "Yes," Jason replied just before they kissed. Moments later, Sam opened the front door but stopped when she saw Jason and Elizabeth. Dvd #15B 9/17 Elizabeth decorated Jason's penthouse with balloons to celebrate Jason's birthday. She asked if Jason and Sam were still divorcing. When Jason responded in the affirmative, Elizabeth kissed him. Sam opened the door and saw them. Sam closed the door and left before she saw Jason gently disengage and tell Elizabeth that he was sorry because he could not give her false hope. Jason said that he did not want to hurt Elizabeth. She replied that since Jason was getting a divorce, they were both free at the same time and could explore how they felt about each other. Jason told Elizabeth that they could not go back to the past. Jason said that he had never been a father to Jake because he had wanted to protect Jake, Elizabeth, and her other children. Jason told Elizabeth that he would be dishonoring Jake's memory if he put her in danger. Jason also said that he was responsible for Sam's baby's death, and he had to put it right. Elizabeth said that he was not, but Jason added that he had doubts about the death of Sam's baby. 9/25 At the hospital, Elizabeth saw Jason and John enter an examination room. She waited until John had left before she approached Jason to find out what the two men had been talking about. She was stunned when Jason confessed that he had found Sam's baby, but he needed confirmation via a DNA test before he told Sam. Elizabeth couldn't imagine what it would be like to be reunited with a child that she had lost. Jason sobered as he realized that Elizabeth had been thinking of Jake. Elizabeth offered to take the DNA sample to the lab and have a rush put on the test, but Jason didn't feel comfortable asking that of her. Elizabeth refused to take no for an answer. She assured him that there would be less chance of a mistake if her name were on the test. She also pointed out that it was also a way to ensure that the lab didn't call Sam with the results, especially if they weren't a match. Jason didn't think that it was fair to ask that of Elizabeth, but Elizabeth was confident that Jason would do the same for her if their roles had been reversed. Jason handed the DNA sample to Elizabeth and thanked her. A short time later, Elizabeth returned to let Jason know that the sample had been turned over to the lab. She hoped that he got everything that he wanted. 9/26 At Kelly's, Carly spotted Elizabeth. Carly noticed that Elizabeth had been checking the phone, so she was curious if Elizabeth had been waiting to hear from Jason. Elizabeth put the phone away as Carly explained that she would forever be grateful to Elizabeth for saving Josslyn's life by donating Jake's kidney. Carly knew that Elizabeth and Jason would always carry the grief over losing Jake, but Carly warned Elizabeth that Elizabeth didn't have a future with Jason. Carly explained that Jason had given Jake up to keep his son safe, so Jason would never expose Elizabeth, or her sons, to his dangerous lifestyle. Elizabeth was surprised when Carly revealed that she knew about Elizabeth and Jason's kiss on Jason's birthday, because Sam had told Carly about it. According to Carly, Sam had signed the divorce papers because of the kiss. Carly regretted the years of grief that she had given Elizabeth because of Jason. She conceded that she had felt threatened by Elizabeth. Elizabeth was curious why Carly had decided to insert herself into a situation that wasn't any of Carly's business, especially when Carly had no idea what Elizabeth and Jason shared. Carly was certain that Jason didn't want to hurt Elizabeth, but she warned Elizabeth that Jason and Sam weren't ready to walk away from their marriage, despite their decision to get a divorce. Moments later, Jason walked in. He was concerned when he saw Carly talking to Elizabeth. Carly assured Jason that everything was fine and claimed that she and Elizabeth had simply been catching up. After Carly walked away, Jason offered to tell Carly to leave Elizabeth alone, but Elizabeth assured him that it wasn't necessary because she believed that Carly's intention had been good. Elizabeth announced that she was headed to the hospital, so she invited Jason to join her because the results of DNA test that Jason had requested were due back. At the hospital, Jason waited in an examination room while Elizabeth checked with the lab to see if the results for the DNA test were ready. A short time later, she returned with the results in hand. She hoped that the results were what Jason wanted. Elizabeth promised to help Jason through the difficulties of reuniting Sam and the baby if the results confirmed that Sam's baby was alive. Jason thanked Elizabeth for her support and then opened the envelope. He was shocked when they revealed that the baby hadn't been a match to Sam. Jason couldn't understand how it was possible because he had been certain that Sam's baby was alive. He insisted that everything had pointed to it. Elizabeth's expression was etched with guilt as she watched Jason grapple with the stunning news. Elizabeth tried to comfort him as she gently told him that it was over. Jason put his arm around Elizabeth and then drew her close. 9/27 Elizabeth, Lulu, and Olivia arrived at Kate/Connie’s bachelorette party at the Floating Rib. A short time later, Kristina and Sam arrived. Sam had a change of heart about staying at the bachelorette party when she spotted Elizabeth, but Kristina refused to let her sister leave. Sam reluctantly agreed to stay as Maxie kicked off the party with a short speech about Kate and then urged everyone to give Kate a "classy send-off." Connie announced that she was ready to get her "drink on," so everyone lined up at the bar to do shots of tequila. Kristina changed the subject by asking how things were between Sam and Jason. Sam confided that there was a chance that she might not get a divorce because Sam and Jason had kissed on their anniversary at the Noodle Buddha. Kristina was thrilled for Sam because it meant that there was still hope for Sam and Jason. Elizabeth watched Sam as she recalled Jason's reaction when he had learned that the DNA test hadn't confirmed that Téa's baby was actually Sam's son. Lulu noticed Elizabeth standing alone, so she approached her former sister-in-law to find out what was on Elizabeth's mind. Elizabeth confessed to Lulu that she had messed things up with Jason. Elizabeth explained that she had respected Jason and Sam's marriage, but Elizabeth and Jason had reconnected after Jason's split from Sam. However, Elizabeth had jeopardized everything by doing something stupid. Sam stood nearby, watching Elizabeth and Lulu. Maxie introduced "Magic Milo" to the stage. Milo, dressed in a suit and tie, stepped onto the stage, as music blared from the speakers. However, he didn't move, so Lulu decided to show him some moves from the sidelines. Milo mimicked Lulu's moves, as the ladies cheered and clapped. Soon, Milo grew more confident, so he began to strip. The ladies applauded loudly and showered Milo with champagne, as they stuffed dollar bills into his boxer-briefs. Connie boldly threw Milo down onto the pool table and then poured tequila on him. She started to do body-shots on Milo, but Mac quickly intervened and led Milo to a back room so that Milo could get dressed. 9/28 Sam thanked Kristina for making Sam stay, because Sam had had a good time. Kristina was confident that Sam and Jason would get through their struggles as well. Nearby, Elizabeth listened as Sam admitted that Sam and Jason weren't a sure thing, but Kristina disagreed. Kristina doubted that it had been a coincidence that Sam and Jason had ended up at the Noodle Buddha on their one-year anniversary and then had kissed. Kristina also pointed out that the divorce papers hadn't been delivered, so she was certain that Sam was still in love with Jason. Sam sat at the bar when Lulu approached Elizabeth to find out what had been troubling Elizabeth. Elizabeth wasn't comfortable discussing it unless Lulu promised to keep it a secret. Lulu agreed, so Elizabeth confessed that Jason had kissed her. Elizabeth revealed that she felt confused about things because Jason was a married man. However, Elizabeth admitted that Jason had told her that he had feelings for her. Elizabeth promised Lulu that she had no desire to get between Jason and Sam, but Jason had assured Elizabeth that the marriage was over, so he had told Elizabeth that she had nothing to feel guilty about. Lulu was curious what Elizabeth planned to do, so Elizabeth admitted that she intended to wait until the marriage was over and the divorce papers were signed. Lulu wondered if Elizabeth was concerned that Jason might change his mind. "No," Elizabeth replied. Elizabeth explained that Jason had told her that he intended to sign the papers and put his past mistakes with Sam behind him. Elizabeth assured Lulu that Jason was ready to move forward. "With you?" Lulu asked. Elizabeth shrugged. Meanwhile, Sam took a drink as she continued to eavesdrop on the conversation. Elizabeth reminded Lulu that Elizabeth had known Jason far longer than Sam had and that Jason and Elizabeth had been in and out of each other's lives for many years, during which time she and Jason had confided to each other, helped each other, and had shared a child. Elizabeth admitted that the timing had always been off for them, but they finally had a chance to make things work. Moments later, Sam left. 10/1 Elizabeth met Jason at the penthouse, dressed for their date to the wedding. Jason shared his, Spinelli’s and the lab tech's confusion about the results of the DNA test on Téa's baby and its conflict with other testing that had been done on tissue samples from Sam's dead baby. Jason said that the only way to be sure was to exhume Sam's deceased child. Jason added that he did not want to make Sam suffer through that process, so he would do nothing further. Elizabeth found the divorce papers on Jason's desk. Jason told Elizabeth about his dinner the previous evening at the Noodle Buddha with Sam. Jason revealed to Elizabeth that he had not thought that his marriage to Sam would survive, but he had hoped to give Sam the thing she wanted most, which was to have a child and be a mother. Elizabeth looked stricken when Jason thanked her for always being honest with him. As Jason opened the door to leave for the wedding, Elizabeth stopped him and admitted that she had lied to him. As Jason listened, Elizabeth confessed that at the bachelorette party the previous evening, she had said things to Lulu that had deliberately led Sam to conclude that Jason had moved on to Elizabeth, which in turn, had triggered Sam to believe that she and Jason had no chance and to serve the divorce papers to Jason immediately. Elizabeth said that her actions had been stupid and immature and that all she had really cared about was getting a chance to have a real relationship with Jason. She told Jason that she was very sorry. Jason only responded that it was time to leave. Elizabeth said that there was more to tell, and it had to do with Sam's baby. 10/2 At the penthouse, Elizabeth tearfully begged Jason to understand that she had lied because she had deep feelings for Jason and had wanted it to be their time. Jason explained that he had a wedding to go to, so he started to leave, but Elizabeth confessed that she had to tell him something about Sam's baby. Moments later, Spinelli called to find out where Jason was. Jason insisted that he couldn't make it to the wedding. After Jason ended the call, Elizabeth revealed that she had changed the results of the DNA test. Elizabeth apologized as she conceded that she had completely betrayed Jason's trust. She handed him the correct DNA test results and clarified that Sam's baby was alive. Elizabeth tearfully confessed that she hadn't been able to sleep, knowing what she had done. Jason asked her why she had lied, so Elizabeth wondered if it even mattered. Jason insisted that he needed to know. Elizabeth confessed that she had thought about the woman who had been caring for Sam's baby, loving and raising him as her own, when she had seen the test results. Elizabeth insisted that the woman didn't deserve to have a child that she believed was hers taken away from her. "And I didn't deserve to have my child taken away from me either," Elizabeth tearfully added. Elizabeth reminded Jason of the time that Sam had stood by and watched as Maureen had kidnapped Jake as a newborn. Sam had let Jason, Lucky, and Elizabeth lose their minds with grief, anger, and pain, knowing the whole time where Jake was and never saying a word. "So, what is this? Payback?" Jason quietly asked. "I don't know," Elizabeth cried. "Maybe," she conceded. Elizabeth explained that she had tried really hard to put it behind her, but a part of her couldn't help but think that, if it hadn't been for Sam, Jake might have had a different life. "Right?" Elizabeth asked. Jason didn't have an answer, so Elizabeth revealed that Sam's role in Jake's kidnapping had only been a part of it. Jason wondered what the other part had been. "I don't want you with her," Elizabeth truthfully admitted. She had been afraid that the baby would be a catalyst for Jason and Sam's reconciliation. Elizabeth couldn't understand why, after everything that she and Jason had been through, they couldn't have a chance. Jason had no idea what she expected him to say. "Nothing," Elizabeth assured him. She realized that she had slowly been losing her mind ever since they had lost Jake. Elizabeth had been trying to recover on her own by hoping that time would heal her wounds, but they had only gotten worse. Elizabeth had thought that Jason could make everything better and fix things for her, but she realized that it hadn't been fair to expect that of him. Elizabeth started to leave, but Jason called out to her. Elizabeth apologized for ruining everything that they had had. Jason knew what it was like to make a terrible mistake, but she, at least, had been able to make things right. Elizabeth insisted that things wouldn't be right until Sam had her baby back. Elizabeth promised to tell Sam everything, but Jason asked her not to say anything until he had a chance to figure out the best way to handle things. Elizabeth reminded him that he knew what it was like to lose a child, so she asked him to be kind to the woman who had Sam's son. Elizabeth went to the lake house to talk to Sam. Sam wasn't interested in hearing what Elizabeth had to say, because she had heard enough at the bachelorette party. Elizabeth confessed that what Sam had overheard had been a lie, because Elizabeth had known that Sam had been listening. Sam revealed that she had seen Elizabeth and Jason kiss on Jason's birthday. Elizabeth explained that Sam hadn't seen Jason pull away from the kiss and admit that he and Elizabeth didn't have a future together. Elizabeth insisted that, divorced or not, Jason still belonged to Sam. 10/3 At the lake house, Elizabeth explained that Jason had pulled away from the kiss on his birthday because he and Elizabeth didn't have a future together. Sam was skeptical that Elizabeth would simply walk away from Jason without a fight. Elizabeth admitted that Jason would always be in her heart, but she wanted Sam to hear her out. Sam invited Elizabeth inside, so Elizabeth entered the house and then confessed that she had manipulated Sam into handing the divorce papers to Jason. Elizabeth explained that she and Jason had only kissed twice, and each time Jason had pulled away. Elizabeth revealed that she had gone to Jason's penthouse earlier that day to convince Jason that Sam and John were in a relationship, but Elizabeth hadn't been able to go through with it, so she had told the truth instead. Sam was curious why, so Elizabeth explained that her lies had been a complete betrayal of what Elizabeth and Jason had shared over the years, their son, and the love that they had had for Jake. Elizabeth had decided that she needed to stop lying, because she had lied to Jason, herself, and another mother. Sam was confused, because Sam's son had died, so she didn't understand what her baby had to do with anything. Elizabeth knew what it was like to lose a child, so she didn't want to add to Sam's pain. Sam was curious if Elizabeth would have cared if Jason hadn't turned Elizabeth down. Elizabeth didn't expect Sam to forgive her, but she was sorry for everything that she had done. Sam admitted that she wasn't in any position to judge because of her own mistakes. Elizabeth appreciated Sam's understanding, so Sam confessed that she was grateful that Elizabeth had stepped forward with the truth. Elizabeth hoped that Sam would soon see how far Jason had gone to make things right for Sam. She promised that Sam would soon get back everything that Sam had loved. "Not everything," Sam sadly replied. "You'll see," Elizabeth softly said, and then left. A short time later, Jason arrived to talk to Sam. Sam revealed that Elizabeth had been by earlier, and had told Sam about the lies that had led to Sam giving Jason the divorce papers. "And that's all?" Jason wondered. "Why? What else is there?" Sam asked. 10/12 On the hospital's rooftop, Sam tearfully begged Heather to return Sam's baby to her, but Heather claimed that Sam's baby was no longer with them. Sam cried as she looked at her son, while Jason warned Heather that it was over. Jason revealed that they knew about the baby switch. Sam insisted that she had spent nights grieving for her son, so she wanted him back. Heather refused to hand over the baby, so Sam promised to give Heather whatever Heather wanted. Heather explained that she wanted quite a few things, so she didn't know where to begin. Heather inched her way to the edge of the rooftop as she vowed that she would never give the baby up. Sam argued that the baby belonged with his mother, so Heather replied that it was a good thing that he was in his mother's arms. Jason and Sam made it clear that they wouldn't let Heather leave with the baby. Moments later, Dante appeared on the rooftop with his gun drawn. "What's the problem here, Heather? Dante asked. Dante ordered Heather to hand the baby to Sam, but Heather refused. Heather wanted Dante to leave before he forced her to do something that she didn't want to do. Sam was curious what Heather meant, so Heather offered to show Sam if Dante didn't go. Jason and Sam implored Dante to let them handle things because they wouldn't allow Heather leave with the baby. Dante reluctantly agreed, so he left the rooftop. Jason insisted that the baby was his and Sam's son, but Heather wondered who he was trying to kid. Heather reminded Jason that he hadn't wanted the baby because the baby was Franco's son. Heather realized that Jason had considered Franco to be crazy, but Heather insisted that Franco had been a genius. Jason and Sam didn't want to hear it, but Heather ignored them as she sang Franco's praises. According to Heather, Franco had inherited talent and brains. "And he got your wife," Heather added. Jason's temper flared. "That's enough," Jason warned Heather. Heather assured Jason and Sam that she had not been fooled by their united front, because their marriage was a sham, which she blamed on Jason's pride. Heather insisted that the baby deserved more than a broken home and Jason for a father. "I want my son," Jason argued. Sam looked at Jason with tears in her eyes, but Heather refused to believe that Jason could ever love the baby. Sam begged Heather not to keep the baby from her. Heather wasn't moved, because Sam had kept Steve from Heather. Sam couldn't believe that Heather had been motivated by revenge, so Heather clarified that she wanted the baby because Sam didn't love the child. Heather accused Sam of endangering the baby from the beginning by giving birth in a seedy motel room and then abandoning him shortly after birth in a storm. Sam explained that it had all been beyond her control, but Heather didn't believe Sam. Sam realized that Heather wanted the baby because Heather was devastated over losing Steve. Sam promised to talk to Steve on Heather's behalf, if Heather returned the baby to Sam. Heather appeared to weaken as her eyes filled with tears. Sam admitted that it had been her fault that Steve had turned away from Heather, so Sam would do everything in her power to help reunite Heather with Steve. However, seconds later, Anna used a bullhorn to inform Heather that the hospital was surrounded and that Heather had no other option but to hand the baby over to Jason and Sam. Sam assured Heather that she would speak to Anna to ask Anna to go easy on Heather, but Heather realized that Anna was right about Heather's options. Jason agreed that Heather's only choice was to hand the baby over. Heather decided that if she couldn't have the baby, then no one else could either. Jason and Sam were horrified as Heather suddenly jumped off of the roof with the baby in her arms. On the ground, Téa screamed as she watched Heather and the baby fall from the rooftop. 10/15 Jason immediately sprang into action as he desperately tried to reach for the baby. On the ground, Dante told Elizabeth that Heather was on the roof with the baby and that Jason and Sam were there as well. Nearby, Téa screamed in terror when she saw Heather plummet from the roof. Seconds later, Heather landed in a nearby patch of grass, so Anna, Dante, and Elizabeth ran to Heather. Téa anxiously asked, "Does she have my son?" On the rooftop, Jason pulled the baby to safety. Sam's eyes filled with tears as she asked if the baby was okay. Jason assured Sam that the baby was perfect, except for one thing. "He wants his mom," Jason softly said. Sam stood rooted to the spot as she confessed that she had thought about reuniting with her son countless times, but she didn't know what to do. Jason promised Sam that her fear would pass in a moment. "Trust me," Jason added. Sam insisted that she trusted Jason with her life and her son’s life. Jason smiled as he placed the baby in Sam's arms. Sam cried as she told the baby, "I'm your mom." She thanked Jason for saving her son's life and giving him back to her. Jason confessed that all he had ever wanted was to see her hold her baby. In the hospital's courtyard, Elizabeth revealed that the baby was not with Heather. Téa sagged with relief. "My baby is okay," Téa told Todd as Elizabeth worked on Heather. Miraculously, Heather had survived the fall from the rooftop. Anna whispered to Heather, "You and I have unfinished business," and then ordered Heather not to die. Anna stepped aside as Elizabeth and others attended to Heather. Heather was loaded onto a gurney, as Steve and Patrick arrived. Elizabeth tried to hold her brother back, but Steve fought his way to his mother's side. Heather asked if the baby was okay and then begged Steve not to leave her. Anna wondered if Heather would survive and be fit for trial, but Patrick explained that it was too soon to tell. Heather was rushed to an examination room. Elizabeth pulled her brother away so that Patrick could work on Heather. Heather was unconscious, so Patrick ordered a battery of tests, x-rays, and scans. Moments later, Heather flatlined. In the waiting area, Anna tried to question Steve. Anna suggested that Steve might know something that would reduce Heather's "culpability." Elizabeth was outraged at the suggestion, so she pulled Anna aside for a private talk. Elizabeth conceded that Heather was evil and insane, but those two things did not cancel each other out. Elizabeth explained that Heather had sold Steven on the black market when he had been an infant and had made him pay for it every single day since then. Anna revealed that Heather might have had an accomplice. Elizabeth was adamant that Heather hadn't had one. "Not tonight," Elizabeth amended. Elizabeth reminded Anna that Heather had fully intended to kill a child when Heather had thrown herself off of the roof, so there shouldn't be any forgiveness for what Heather had done. Anna agreed, so she promised to be sensitive to Steve's situation. However, Anna needed to question Steve while everything was still fresh in his mind. In the examination room, Steve told his mother that she would be undergoing surgery. Heather insisted that she loved Steve and regretted betraying his trust by hurting Olivia. Steve assured his mother that Olivia was fine, and then promised Heather that she would be too. Heather feared that she might not survive, so she begged Steve not to blame himself. Elizabeth gently urged Steve to let Heather rest, so Steve and Elizabeth left. Steve and Elizabeth approached Dante and Anna to get an update on Sam's baby. Dante assured Steve that the baby was unharmed, but Steve wanted to be sure, so he asked his sister to check on the baby. Elizabeth didn't want to leave Steve alone, so Dante volunteered to stay with Steve. Later, in the exam room, Britt announced that the baby was fine. Elizabeth played with the baby while Britt explained that she wanted the baby to stay overnight in the hospital for observation. Jason and Sam were relieved that the baby was fine. After Britt left, Elizabeth handed the baby to Sam. Elizabeth admitted that she was happy for Sam and promised to get the paperwork started to have a new birth certificate issued for the baby. Jason and Sam thanked Elizabeth. In the courtyard, Britt found Elizabeth sitting near where Heather had fallen. Britt wondered if Elizabeth was okay. Elizabeth told Britt about Jake's tragic death and confided that she couldn't begin to explain what that loss had felt like. Elizabeth admitted that her thoughts were on the mothers in the hospital, because while one mother reunited with her son, the other would have everything taken away, which seemed unfair. "But, I guess, the baby is back where he belongs, and everything is the way it's supposed to be," Elizabeth concluded. 10/19 Jason heard the message from Bernie and headed down to the dock. On the docks, Bernie heard a noise. When he turned, Joe Jr. was holding a gun on him. Despite Bernie's pleas, Joe Jr. shot him. Bernie was still alive, and as Joe Jr. prepared to shoot Bernie again, Jason arrived and shot Joe Jr., who crawled away. Jason ran to Bernie, who tried to tell Jason what he had done for Duke, but Jason was focused on Bernie and told Bernie to save his strength. Suddenly, a shot rang out, and Jason crumpled to the ground. Jason lay still and unmoving as his blood pooled and dripped steadily into the Port Charles harbor. 10/22 Duke kicked Jason's body into the water, where it disappeared beneath the surface. Joe Jr. listened as Duke bid goodbye to "Mr. Morgan" and told the sinking Jason that he should not have interfered.Bernie was still alive when Sonny and the police arrived on the scene. He managed to let Sonny know that Jason had been shot and had fallen into the water. Sonny immediately leaped into the harbor. Sonny continued diving until the police plucked him out and divers in wet suits took over. Sonny went back to Bernie, who confirmed that Joe Jr. had shot him. Bernie expired before he could warn Sonny about Duke Lavery. Sonny left the scene, muttering that Joe Jr. would pay. He did not hear police officers remark that Bernie had been shot by two different guns or that the divers were giving up their search for Jason. 10/24 On pier 52, Elizabeth stared at Jason's blood on the edge of the pier. Moments later, Spinelli emerged from the water. Elizabeth was shocked to see him in scuba gear, so he explained that he had been searching for Jason. Elizabeth confessed that she didn't know how to live without Jason, because he had always been there for her, even when she hadn't deserved it. Spinelli assured Elizabeth that she had been a source of great joy for Jason, but Elizabeth disagreed, because she had kept Jason away from his family out of a misguided desire to have Jason for herself. Elizabeth regretted that she had cheated Jason of precious time with his child. Spinelli was startled when Elizabeth showed him the DNA test that she had tampered with. He confessed that he was at a loss for words, which Elizabeth suspected was code for saying that he hated her. Spinelli promised her that he could never hate her, nor could Jason. Elizabeth was surprised that Jason hadn't told Spinelli about what she had done, so Spinelli reminded her that Jason would never have wanted to sully her name, which proved that Jason had cared deeply for her. Spinelli insisted that Jason had always forgiven those he loved, and Elizabeth was most assuredly among those people. Elizabeth smiled as she pointed out that Spinelli was, too, because Jason had trusted and respected him. Spinelli confessed that he had loved Jason as well. After Spinelli left, Elizabeth threw the crumpled DNA test that she had tampered with into the water and watched it float away. 10/26 In the break room, Sabrina approached Ellie for a donation. Ellie was collecting money to send flowers to Dr. Quartermaine from the hospital staff. Ellie knew about Jason's disappearance because her boyfriend, Spinelli, had been Monica's son's best friend. Ellie admitted that Spinelli was beside himself with grief, as Ellie handed Sabrina a donation. Moments later, Patrick appeared in the doorway, demanding to know what Ellie was doing. Britt hovered in the background, watching avidly, as Patrick blasted Ellie for feeling sympathy for a murdering criminal. Elizabeth was stunned by Patrick's angry outburst, so she marched up to him to scold him for talking harshly to a well-meaning Sabrina. Patrick expected Elizabeth to confirm that everyone would have been better off if Jason had died months earlier, but Elizabeth refused. Britt asked to speak to Sabrina privately, so Sabrina scurried over to Britt. Elizabeth was shocked that Patrick would say such a heartless thing about Jason. She reminded Patrick that Robin would have sacrificed her life for any one of Robin's patients. Patrick complained that it had been a waste of effort to help Jason, because Jason hadn't appreciated the gift that he had been given. Elizabeth disagreed, so Patrick pointed out that Jason hadn't been fishing on the pier. Elizabeth defended Jason, reminding Patrick that Jason had tried to save Bernie, but Patrick argued that Bernie had been part of the organized crime syndicate that Jason had worked for. Elizabeth warned Patrick that Robin wouldn't appreciate how Patrick was using Robin's death to beat up on Jason and then stormed off.
