Jax, Chloe, Ned and Alexis #1  April 29 - August 9, 1999 - 8 hrs

V is still trying to convince Ned to perform more. Felicia comes in, asking Ned for research money to go get Lila’s love letters. Chloe Morgan has the letters, yes, that’s Chloe Morgan the clothing designer…V pointed this out, BTW, Ned interrupts the story and tells her to go get them. Felicia reads a magazine article about Chloe on the flight to London. Felicia arrives at the suite of Lila's distant relative Cloe Morgan, where she exchanges her shoes for five minutes of Cloe's time to try and find out if she has Lila's long lost love letters. Felicia takes Chloe to met the Quartermaines, where she is witness to a typical Quartermaine bloodletting over the custody trial. Chloe seems starry eyed over Edward, who tries to get her to let him "Borrow" the love letters. She agrees, then tells him that she has memorized every letter. This seems to worry Lila and Edward a great deal.

Carly opens her shower presents. First present: from “Leticia and Mr. Morgan”—a stuffed giraffe and a book about Africa. Chloe and Felicia keep a running under their breath commentary as the afternoon proceeds… Chloe gave a pair of cute silver-spangle overalls for Michael After the shower, Chloe tells Felicia more about the letters after they go to the Rose Garden and cut some roses. Lila gave Chloe her proxy for the ELQ board meeting which was met with a surprise for all. After the board meeting, which was just a shouting match with nothing accomplished, the Quartemaines got ready for the engagement party. Ned and Chloe sit in the foyer, as Ned categorizes all the attendees and gives Chloe an insightful background. At the party an overwhelmed Cloe runs out in the rain where she finds herself trapped under a gazebo with a handsome stranger....Jax. He fixes her broken shoe, they dance in the gazebo, then make a run for the main house. She thanks him for "saving" her that night.

Clohe and Ned walk on the docks as she prepares for the ELQ meeting. They run into Jax at Kelley's. Ned warns her about Jax. Lucy and Kat see Jax and Jerry and head over to see them about backing the Nurses Ball and Jax and Jerry head them off by offering to underwrite the ball. Carly and A.J.'s wedding (ceremony not included). Afterwards, Chloe goes looking for her once again missing shoes. Jax enters the room dangling the missing items from his fingertips.

Chloe is sitting on the docks with diagrams in front of her. She is talking to herself, trying to figure out the diagrams. Jax sees her and of course she is once again embarrassed. She is trying to decipher the diagrams so she knows what she's doing when she votes at ELQ with Lila's proxy about the docks project. Jax smirks. She has the diagrams upside down. Jax sits with her and helps her to make sense of the diagrams she is studying.Jax invites her to his sailboat. They go running off. (They are racing each other)

Another couple now on the docks: Ned and Alexis. Ned thinks Edward may give ELQ to AJ as a way of punishing him for returning to singing. Alexis suggests he just "let go" of his family. She was surprised at how easy it was to do with the Cassadines. Alexis encourages him to follow his heart, pursue his singing. They are distracted by Chloe and Jax who are soaking wet and still running. The boat tipped over. Ned says he should have warned her about Jax. He tells her about the Sahara adventure. Jax and Chloe leave separately. Alexis finds a letter in Ned's pocket. Ned thinks she should wait to read it. She can't wait...opens it and reads it. It isn't finished yet. They kiss.

Jax is at the PC Grille and who should show up but Simon Prentiss, the guy from Monte Carlo who V hit over the head. You know, the guy who cheated at cards. He tells Jax he knows "Isabella" was a fake (he tracked down the real Isabella in Argentina) and that he is hopelessly in love with "whatever her name is." He wants Jax to set up a meeting; Jax pretty much refuses, though he's laughing. Simon declares that he's staying in Port Charles till he finds the mystery woman.

Ned, V, and Chloe are at the Q's. V is trying to talk to Ned about his rehearsing; finally she gets fed up and hangs up on all thephone calls, including Chloe's assistant. Chloe doesn't care and wants to hear about the music. Ned plays them an impromptu "concert" and of course they love it. Jax walks in, makes fun of Ned, and tells V about Simon. V is horrified. Jax and Ned leave for a business meeting in New York. V tells Chloe she's repulsed by Simon; Chloe says he's her good friend and a very eligible bachelor.

Carly seems relieved when V & Chloe interrupt as AJ kisses her. Carly then begs the girls to join them that night at Luke's. V refuses, she is afraid of running into Simon, but they are able to talk her into it. At Luke's, Chloe meets Jason. He advises her to vote with Sonny and not to trust AJ or Jax. Music montage of Luke entering Laura's hospital room, Jerry & Bobbie, Simon entering Luke's club and sees V, AJ/Jason/Carly, then Sonny & Hannah making love.

Simon is hanging out at the table (at Luke’s) with Chloe and V. They have a fun scene with V trying to convince Simon she’s nothing like the woman he met in Monte Carlo. She just ends up endearing him more…and she storms off.

Lucy stops by the Q's. She wants less material in the dresses that Chloe is making for her for the ball, Lucy and Chloe leave for lunch. When they arrive at the Grille, Lucy takes off to fight with Katherine. Jax joins Chloe and warns her that soon Kat & Lucy will head her way and fight over her when they are done with Jerry. Jax rescues her and takes her home. She tells him that she will stay in PC to do the NB dresses. Back at the Q's, Jax is suggesting to her that they have a dinner with her, him and Simon & V to give them a chance to get to know each other. Edward overhears and thinks Jax is asking Chloe out and says no way!

Ned is at Kelly's talking on the phone to Lucy, trying to convince her that AJ can't sing. V sits down at his table. She is trying to be in disguise by wearing sunglasses and a baseball cap. Ned finds it amusing. She has booked him into a club in Minnesota. He realizes she just wants to leave town to get away from Simon. Ned tries to convince V that she is a desirable charismatic woman, but she thinks she only attracts lunatics and insists Simon doesn't know the real her. V doesn't want any part of Simon. Ned thinks she should see herself in a different light - that she could be the object of someone's desire. She gets ticked at him and leaves. Alexis comes in. Ned tells her about V and Simon. Alexis thinks it's romantic. Ned explains his theory about V - he thinks she feels she is unworthy. Alexis thinks she may just be afraid. They talk about their own long-in-developing relationship. Ned thinks they did everything at the right time, including making love and saying "I love you." Alexis encourages Ned to give Simon some pointers so that V is not so overwhelmed.

Chloe arrives at Jax's to arrange a dinner to help V and Simon get to know each other. Their conversation was part banter, part contemplative. Jax tells Chloe that Simon has to back off, and they jokingly decide that Jax should demonstrate on Chloe how Simon should treat V. They kid about dancing, recall the evening when they danced together in the rain, and are all bright smiles and shining eyes at each other! Jax says,"Hopefully at the end of the evening, Simon and V will realize that they're perfect for reach other" - the subtext clearly being that Chloe & Jax must come to this realization. Shortly after this, Jax runs into V outside of Kelly's where she is wearing that stupid disguise and attempting to book another gig for Ned. Jax tells V that he needs her to join him & Chloe in his penthouse for dinner - he doesn't want Chloe to think it's a date. V agrees. "Your place is the one apartment I know Simon will never be at." Later that night, V is at Jax's when there's a knock at the door. V goes into the kitchen as Jax answers the door, ushering a giddy Simon and a glowing Chloe into the room. V reenters and slams down her tray - "You set me up!"

At Jax's penthouse, V is livid while Jax denies the whole situation is a setup. V walks out, goes onto the elevator. Jax asks her to listen to him. The door closes, but she comes back and gives him a chance to talk. Jax asks her why she won't give Simon a chance. If it's because she thinks Simon is obnoxious, that's one thing. But if it's because she thinks she isn't worthy of a man travelling around the globe to pursue her, he thinks she should reconsider. Jax doesn't approve of Simon's tactics but his motives could be sincere. V can't even think about love. They don't know each other. Inside the penthouse, Chloe tries to convince Simon to go slowly with V, to stop overwhelming her. As Simon declares to Chloe that he loves V, V comes back in with Jax. They have dinner catered. Jax and Chloe try to make small talk. Simon stares at V. Jax and Chloe explain the Nurses' Ball to Simon. When Jax tells Chloe how V helped Felicia with her book, V explains she mostly corrected grammar and punctuation. Simon jumps in and talks about his obsession with correct punctuation. He and V get involved in a discussion about apostrophes and semi-colons. V becomes uneasy when she realizes they share the same enthusiasm on this subject. After dinner, Jax and Chloe are enjoying champagne on one side of the room. They are discussing going to the Nurses' Ball together. V and Simon are together on the opposite side of the room. Chloe keeps glancing over, happy that V and Simon are getting along. Suddenly, Chloe says "oh no!" Simon is down on one knee, professing his love and proposing to V. V jumps up and screams "Jax!"

V. freaks out about Simon proposing. Jax and Chloe try to intervene…and basically trick her into agreeing to go to the Nurse’s ball with him. (It was either that or Café Matis alone) Jax tells Simon he’s coming on too strong, and imagine if he was in V’s shoes. Simon begins to comprehend that he’s being a jerk…

Alexis enters gatehouse, sees feet on sofa. She hurdles over the side of the sofa - and lands on a laughing Jax. She grimaces. Meanwhile, back in the Q mansion, Ned is joking about the flowers Simon sent V. V is depressed because Jax and Chloe set her up to go to the Nurses' Ball (henceforth NB). Ned laughs upon learning of their date. Chloe enters with a specially designed dress for V to wear to the NB, and V throws a it's your decision. I just want you to consider it." V retorts, "OK, but I'mnot making any promises." Chloe and Ned go off to the gatehouse, where an embarrassed Alexis is yelling at an amused Jax. "You and Ned must have a pretty athletic relationship!" he admires, as she hits him on the head with a throw pillow. They joke about their plane crash in the Sahara, and when the conversation turns to the Cassadine fortune, Alexis maintains that she is utterly uninterested. Jax reveals, finally, that he's at the gatehouse to speak to Ned about ELQ. Ned escorts Chloe into the gatehouse and kisses Alexis as Jax reenters the sitting room from the kitchen. Chloe remarks, "You're everywhere!" After an amusing exchange amongst the four of them, Jax gets down to business: Why hasn't Ned taken care of AJ? Chloe suggests that AJ might be able to do the job. Ned explains, "AJ is a pathetic, brown-nosing loser who couldn't organize his sock drawer let alone an international conglomerate." Jax agrees, "A little subtle, but well said." Alexis points out, "See how nicely you two can play together!" More of the same ensues. Chloe asks Ned about AJ, "You haven't tried to drop a roof on his head yet, have you?" (Referring to when Alan tried to perform said malicious act on cheating wife Monica in the early 80's. ) Chloe suggests that Ned and Jax go into business together. Chloe and Jax eventually exit the gatehouse, leaving Ned and Alexis alone. They discuss the idea of Jax and Ned going into business together. Alexis asks Ned if he needs any songwriting inspiration. He says yes, and she pushes him onto the sofa and tries her running mount that landed her on Jax earlier in the day. This time, however, she flies off the couch onto the floor. She and Ned are hysterical. Meanwhile, Jax and Chloe make their way back to the Q mansion and cement their NB plans. Jax: "I'm counting the hours. (Skeptical look from Chloe.) I could be!"

Simon is at Jax's to bring V to the Ball. She looks very glamorous and is quick to tell him that she'll be back in sweats tomorrow. When Jax and Chloe get there, V and Simon are sipping champagne and chatting comfortably. Ned and Alexis are next to arrive and Ned teases Jax about not performing again this year at the Ball. There's a whole segment done with "Rock this Town" playing throughout. We see all the couples already mentioned plus Mac and Felicia, Emily and Jason, and Nik and Liz. Most of the women spin around to showcase their gowns. Lucy introduces the Q men (AJ, Edward, Alan and Ned) who do "I Feel Good" accompanied by four female dancers. The men all wear sunglasses and blue satin shirts.

Lucy flips out when someone tells her that the couple Amanda hired can't dance tonight. One of them has a sprained ankle. She is afraid she will lose the large contribution. Chloe and Jax overhear. Chloe has an idea. She knows Jax doesn't want to perform at a Nurses' Ball but she asks him to "think gazebo." They do a ballroom dance and the crowd enjoys it. Backstage, they do one of those long and close and longing gazes into each other's eyes when you think they will kiss, but of course they don't.

Emily and Ned sing "Forever Young" while we see quilts of many AIDS victims. Jason looks sad and pensive during their song. Ned encourages the audience to join them and they all sing along. It was a sweet, sad number. (Note: During the Lucy & Kat "I Am Woman" number there is a few seconds as they throw their top hats to Jax and he places one on Chloe's head...I neglected to include this brief section, the rest of their scenes at the NB are included).

Jax and Chloe share another romantic dance on the roof of the PC Hotel, while Simon and V are trapped in an elevator. V and Simon share a kiss and as the elevator doors open Jax and Chloe look on in amazement.

Ned enters the Q mansion. Ned finds Alexis in the sitting room. She's there tocelebrate Ned's liberation from ELQ. They are kissing when AJ barges in, smirking. "What's that - a consolation kiss for the loser? Ned tells AJ he is now captain of the Titanic, at the helm of an unsinkable company which he will steer into the next iceberg. Edward enters to defend AJ. Ned then submits to him hisletter of resignation, effective immediately. AJ feigns disappointment; he wanted to make Ned his VP in charge of office x-mas cards.

At one point, while explaining how he proved himself, AJ (very foolishly!) calls on Alexis for support. Alexis realizes he's recalling their New Year's Eve conversation when he told her that the weak shall inherit the earth. She starts off kindly, explaining that as a former family underdog, she wants to root for him, but her tone becomes quite harsh & exasperated as she concludes, "But for the life of me, I can't figure out what you've done to deserve this appointment!" And just like before, right before they hit rock bottom, some one will turn to Ned, begging for help, but Ned will not help them this time. He and Alexis then march out. Outside, a bitter Ned rants about how AJ will sink the company. "Drop the keys, gatekeeper," Alexis consoles him. "There's a whole new world out there waiting for you." As they leave the Q mansion, Ned takes a final,lingering look around the foyer.

At the gatehouse, Ned is in a great mood. He is playing his guitar and singing when V and Alexis come in. They start dancing. V and Ned discuss business. She's going to Albany to hear a new band. Ned worries about her travelling that far alone at night. She is evasive, but Ned finally gets her to say she's travelling with Simon. After V leaves, Ned and Alexis talk about his plans for his future. He is thinking of expanding L&B, bringing in other businesses, but still continue singing. He asks Alexis a hypothetical question. If he had to relocate to a different part of the world, would she go with him? He confesses that the question may become a reality. He has had several offers from around the world. They agree that when they think of the future, they envision each other. They tiptoe around the "m" word and finally agree not to discuss it but both vow their love for each other. Alexis suggests that Ned get Jax as apartner in L&B. Ned thinks she's crazy.

Chloe and Jax are leaving for a date as Felicia arrives at the Q mansion. They talk briefly about Felicia reading Lila's love letters and writing the memoirs. When Chloe realizes Felicia is talking about them in the past, she asks if Felicia is finished. Felicia says she is there to find that out. Chloe and Jax have just finished water skiing. They are at the Q boat house. Jax unpacks a gourmet picnic lunch. They are about to kiss, when Edward interrupts, yelling to get off his property. Edward tells Chloe that she has had about twenty phone messages and gives her a cell phone to make calls. She leaves Edward and Jax alone. Jax expresses concern over AJ being CEO. Chloe comes back to Jax, looking like she is about to cry. She tells him she is close to losing everything she ever wanted.

Chloe, Jax, Ned and Alexis try to figure out how to save Chloe's company. Seems dearly departed Uncle Herbert left his fortune to Chloe for her company. She maintains creative control and answers to no one -- on the condition that she be happily married by the end of next month! Jax learns that all of Chloe's business and tradename revert to her uncle's estate should she not be happily married by a certain date. Chloe explains that her uncle's motives for his will are a balanced life. Also, her uncle's widow, Gertrude, has a new husband (an aspiring, but terrible, designer) and Gertrude wants to give Chloe's company to him as a gift. So Ned suggests that Chloe go ahead and get married for the required year. Chloe makes a list of possible husbands: Simon (but he's in lovewith V), the Italian Water Polo Team (but they're Italian), George Clooney (Ned, Jax, and Alexis look at her like she's crazy). She confesses she never thought this day would actually happen.

Jax, Ned,and Alexis are all racking their brains to help Chloe out of her prediciment,and Jax & Alexis have a common solution: Chloe & Jax could wed! Will Chloe agree?

At the Q's, Chloe is having trouble concentrating on sketching. When Carly comes in, Chloe tells her that Jason is at the boat house with Michael. They talk briefly about doing charity work. Chloe regards most young women who join charity guilds as social climbers. Carly leaves and the phone rings for Chloe. Jax enters, talking on his cell phone. They both continue to talk business on their respective phones and they realize their business philosophies are the same.

Ned and Alexis are in bed. He is giving her a back massage. He tells her what's on his mind - marriage. Her face freezes. They discuss Chloe's potential spouses. Jax is a possibility but Alexis says Chloe would not bewilling to consider him. Alexis thinks Chloe would get too attached to Jax over a year. She needs someone who would just be a friend. Ned volunteers to marry her. Alexis doesn't like the idea. He teases her. He'sbeen married so many times. What's one more? And besides, it would really drive Edward crazy. But he says he wouldn't do it unless Chloe agrees to Alexis being his mistress. Alexis calls Jax and asks him to meet her. Jax and Alexis arrive at Kelly's. Alexis tells Jax that a new candidate has emerged for Chloe's husband. Chloe sits alone sketching in the Q's parlor. Ned comes in. He speaks of Chloe getting married. He asks if she would consider him.

Ned proposed to Chloe, but she turned him down. Later she accepted. Meanwhile, Jax and Alexis discussed the impending marriage of Ned and Chloe. Jax as shocked to learn about Ned and Chloe and that Alexis supported the idea. The foursome agreed to go to Vegas so that Ned and Chloe could get hitched! They take the jet and while airborne Ned selects a wedding chapel. The gang arrive at the Chapel of Love in Las Vegas. Before Ned & Chloe can marry, meddlesome aunt Gertrude showed up. She accussed Chloe of a sham of a wedding and told her it would never fulfill the terms of her uncles will and that she had know lost her company. Jax saves the day by announcing that it is he and Alexis getting married. Gertrude sticks around for the "I do's", and Jax tweaks Ned by sweeping Alexis up into a passionate kiss.

They arrive back and home. Ned announces to the Q's that he and Chloe are engaged. "Engaged?" Edward yells. "What is going on here?" Jax and Alexis just smile. Edward says that Ned is still a part of the family, so they have a right to know. Edward asks what is going on, and says that this marriage is not going to happen, because Ned/Chloe are cousins. Chloe explains that they are 3rd cousins twice removed. Ned says that they have no blood connection, and they ARE getting married. AJ says that it's just a ploy to get back ELQ. Ned tells AJ that he is not the center of the universe. Lila wishes them the best. Then Gertrude arrives and says "oh look at the happy couple". Edward yells "who the hell are you?" Gertrude takes offense, and demands to know who he is. Chloe introduces her Aunt Gertrude. Ned and Chloe try to get rid of her. Gertrude makes a friend, when she mentions to Edward about him not knowing the full story and tells the family about the conditions of the will.

Alexis and Jax are moving her belongings into Jax's penthouse. She wants to take the guest room, because she won't be there long. Ned and Chloe come in and Ned agrees with Alexis' remark. Gertrude has moved into the hotel. Chloe is sure Gertrude will have every housekeeper checking on Jax and Alexis' life, including where she is sleeping. Ned wants to spend the night with Alexis but they all decide it's best not to. Jax, Alexis and Ned urge Chloe to go along with the plan. She must stay married to Ned for a year, but Jax and Alexis can get an annulment any time. Jax and Alexis do some flirting seemingly just to annoy Ned. They all try to get their story straight. Jax and Alexis fell in love in the desert. Ned and Chloe fell in love at breakfast at the Q's. V and Simon stop by to bring them to the concert but Ned refuses. V is disappointed that Ned is not enthusiastic. She and Simon leave without knowing anything about the schemes of the quadrangle. The four discuss ideas on what could happen to make Jax and Alexis' breakup believable. They decide a public breakup would be best.

Later, V and Simon are seated at a table discussing how disappointed V is that Ned is not coming to the show tonight. Simon continues to lavish stopped at the door by the bouncer, but Jake says to let them in. Inside Jake's, 98 degrees sing a song.

At Jax's apartment, Jax and Alexis banter about their sleeping arrangements. Jax leaves and Stefan arrives to taunt Alexis about her sudden marriage and to warn her against going after the Cassadine empire. Alexis tells him she's through with all things Cassadine, and wonders about the convenience of Helena's illness. Stefan glowers and tells her she'll be dealt with if she tries anything against the family. Jax walks in and says, "That's no way to talk to my wife." They snarl at each other through fake smiles, then Stefan leaves, saying, "You've been warned." Jax and Alexis then make plans to go to the second 98 degrees concert at Jake's later.

Chloe is talking to Lila about her aunt and the will with Ned. Chloe is grateful she can talk to Lila about this. Lila tells her that even though they are fond of each other, she can see that its not love between her and Ned. Ned asks her to keep it a secret. Lila says that she has kept many secrets over the years, what is one more. Ned/Jax/Alexis/Chloe are eating dinner. Jax and Alexis begin arguing, this is to be the big public fight in fr ont of Aunt Gertrude that is to justify them getting an annulment. Just as they begin, Jerry shows up at the Grill with John and Jane Jacks. They are all very interested in Alexis, what she is like. Jane sees that she is very beautiful, smart etc. Jax thanks his brother's big mouth. Jerry teases him that everyone could see how deeply they are in love. Jax glares at him. Jane is telling Alexis stories about Jax. Jax stops her before it gets too personal. The Jack's finally leave. Jax asks Jerry what he could have been thinking. Jerry says that he was only trying to help the illusion for Gertrude. Jerry flirts with Alexis, till Jax kicks him out. Alexis sits back down with Jax. She says that its obvious his parents love him. Chloe and Ned are back home. Chloe says that Alexis and Jax are trapped, they need to be sprung. Ned tells her that they all are adults and have free will. He says that the Jacks will go home, and Gertrude will go home, and they will all go back to their lives. Chloe says that he's the best. After Ned walks out the door, Edward comes out of the living room. She asks if he was eavesdropping. He says that she should just tell him what is going on, so he wouldn't have to.

Simon and V run into Jax & Alexis at the Grille. V is surprised to notice Alexis is wearing a wedding ring and assumes she has married Ned. She is shocked to hear that her husband is Jax, she is also hurt that she wasn't told nor invited to the wedding. Alexis and Jax make excuses for the hasty ceremony. After V leaves, Jax and Alexis feel very guilty for hurting and lying to her. Chloe and Ned discussing wedding plans when Alexis and Jax come over. Ned & Alexis go upstairs. Jax and Chloe have a talk outside, then they end up playing hopscotch. Ned & Alexis enjoy a quiet moment together, kissing.

Next, Simon & V have asked Jax, Chloe, Ned, and Alexis to meet them at the Grille. V tells them that Simon is taking her on a year long trip around the world. Both Ned and Jax offer her a job and try to talk her out of going. She asks them to understand and be happy for her. Jax & V share a private goodbye, he tells her how much her friendship has meant to him, she tells him that she was a little in love with him. Touching moment as they all kiss and hug and say goodbye to V.

At the Q's, Ned gave Chloe a major ROCK of a sapphire engagement ring. Edward admonished her later for her "mockary of love". Ned is preparing the gate house for a romantic evening. Someone is at the door. He assumes it's Alexis. It's Chloe, who tells Ned to kiss her and throws herself at him. She explains that Aunt Gertrude might be watching. Jax and Alexis arrive. She is ready for her conjugal visit and kisses Ned. Alexis reminds Jax that he should be somewhere else while his wife is having a tryst. Chloe thinks Jax should stay there in case Gertrude is watching from the Q mansion. Ned and Alexis go upstairs. After making love, they agree that Ned should go ahead and marry Chloe as planned. Downstairs, Jax and Chloe are on their respective phones, making simultaneous business deals. Jax throws paper planes at Chloe. One lands high on a shelf. Chloe needs it because it has her designs on it, so Jax lifts her up to reach it. She falls down into his arms and surprise surprise! -- Edward and Gertrude enter to witness it. Edward says "AHA" while Gertrude stands with a smug look on her face. Jax explains about Chloe reaching for her designs on the paper plane. Edward asks where Ned is. Jax and Chloe say he isn't there just as Alexis comes downstairs acting all bubbly and wearing a only man's shirt. Jax covers by making up a story about berry stains and the new and great stain remover an $80 bottle of Champagne. Edward and Gertrude remain suspicious. Edward accuses Alexis of having more than a stained dress spralled out on the bed upstairs and makes his way up stairs as Ned walks in the front door to save the day with an L and B meeting that ran late excuse. They promptly throw Edward and Gertrude out the door. Jax expresses his disapproval of these congical visits, as Ned suggest the solution is for all four of them to live together. Jax goes over the definition of a "happy marriage" with Chloe again.

Jax and Chloe are at the airport. He offers her a ride to New York on his private plane. He wants to teach her the fine art of negotiating as a team. She accepts the ride.They go to New York and buy hot dogs in Central Park. They sit and talk about how well the negotiations went and Jax confides that every opponent that he's had lately has become Aunt Gertrude to him. Jax tells her that Ned should have married Alexis in Las Vegas because that would have been accepted and expected. Chloe says that she wouldn't want to have married the right person because it would have been for the wrong reasons. They dance to sax music in the park, Jax draws her close and they seem about to kiss when they are interrupted by a flower peddler. Jax buys her a bouquet. They talk about her upcoming wedding and she promises him a dance during the reception. They arrive back in PC at the Q's, her wedding invitations have arrived. She gives one to Jax, he leaves and stands outside sadly gazing at the invite.

Ned asks Jax to help him pick a wedding band for Chloe. On to Chloe and Carly in the Q’s den, where they chit-chat and make nice a bit. AJ comes in and agrees that Carly is right at home with the Q’s. Emily informs Monica that she won’t be going to Chloe’s shower. Monica tells her that she has to go apologize to Chloe and tell her why she’s not going. Chloe says she understands, she wouldn’t come either if she was Em’s age. They talk a bit about the problem with Juan, and Chloe asks the precarious question: what would your grandparents do? Em’s realization: Grandfather would pretend to do what you wanted, then go behind your back and do whatever he wanted! And promptly she runs out the door. Chloe looks perplexed…The ladies celebrate at Chloe’s shower.

While the boys are ring shopping, the jeweler is getting a little confused.The guys know WAY too much about each others’ wife/fiancée. Ned worries that the band he’s picked is too plain. Jax reminds him about how Chloe likes simple and understated…and talks about how Alexis is the perfect wife.

Back to the shower: Chloe is getting a lot of lingerie…and Carly is getting more uncomfortable. Even Em got her some very tasteful lingerie, and told a sweet story about how she found it at an estate sale. Carly thinks that Chloe gets her lingerie because she’s a blushing bride, Carly gets it because she’s a tramp. Carly is clearly disappointed andjealous. Carly proposes the toast: “Chloe, on behalf of Lila and the rest of the Quartermaines, welcome to the family.” Chloe thanks her for a lovely shower and they have a big hug. Chloe and Alexis chat a bit more about how hopeless romantics always end up with the wrong people. Ned describes a perfect wedding as just him and his bride. Jax describes his perfect wedding: exactly what he and Brenda had on the yacht.

Ned is dining with Stacy, a woman in the recording industry. He is totally distracted when Alexis enters and sits at a nearby table. Stacy remarks about Jax getting married. Jax comes in and kisses Alexis. Nedloses all his concentration. Stacy asks when Ned and Chloe are getting married. He says "tomorrow." Stacy leaves. Ned asks to join Alexis and Jax, but Jax wants to leave. He says they have plans and is delighted to see Ned miserable. Ned and Alexis tell each other "I miss you" and "I love you." Ned wants to spend time with Alexis but can't tomorrow - he's getting married. Later, alone in the restaurant, Ned writes a love letter to Alexis and has a music montage of many flashbacks of them kissing and moments together.

Ned walks into the Q mansion and sees Alexis. He tells her that unfortunately the bride of the hour isn't her, and doesn't the groom get one last fling? They kiss passionately and he gives her his letter and tells her to find a nice quiet place before the hoopla and know that every word is from my heart. Chloe finds Alexis reading the letter and crying in her room and she says to Chloe, "You are so lucky to be marrying one of the most romantic men in the world." Chloe reads the letter and starts to cry, too. She decides that she can't go through with it and wants to call off the wedding. Alexis convinces her that she wants to be on the winning team and if they bail now they will all look like losers. Chloe agrees and goesto fix her makeup. Alexis drops the letter on her way out and it flutters underneath a chair. Of course Aunt Gertrude comes along and snoops through Alexis' stuff and finds the letter which she begins to read. Reginald brought flowers to Chloe and tells her that her and Letitia have brightened the household. The flowers are from Jax and Alexis. She takes one white rose out of the bouquet and smells it deeply.

Jax talks about the vows to Ned. He reminds him several times that Chloe is a woman and not a subsidiary or acquisition. Ned starts to get a little testy and asks Jax who put him as chief in charge of the Ashtons? Jax was a last minute add-on to the whole thing and tells Jax to back off. Jax comes back with "there are real people and feelings involved and it's time someone pointed that out." Chloe comes out to the gazebo smelling that white rose Jax gave her. Jax watches her and they look at each other with dreamy smiles.

Edward comrd upon Chloe and Jax in the rose garden just as they were about to kiss. Later, Edward had one of his heart to heart talks with Chloe, hr tells her that she is doing the wrong thing by marrying a man she doesn't love. He points out that she may miss out on the real love of her life by tying herself up for a year.

Aunt Gertrude snooped in Chloe's room and found one of the pages of the letter Ned wrote to Alexis -- you know, the one that says "On the eve of my wedding to another woman..." Chloe's shoe breaks and Jax fixes it. Then he gently slips it onto her foot. To test the repair, he takes her in his arms and they dance slowly - more of an embrace.

The Wedding: As Alexis walks down the aisle, Ned stares deeply into her eyes and Alexis tries to maintain her composure. When Chloe walks down the aisle, she and Jax make eye contact. It almost looks as if Chloe is going to call of the wedding, but the preacher begins. Of course, when he asks for any cause to show why they should not be married, Aunt Gertrude stands holding the letter. Aunt Gertrude proceeds to read the letter Ned wrote to Alexis. Just when it appears their plan will be exposed, Jax tells Gert that he knows aboutthe letter and if she had the rest of the letter she wouldn't have jumped to conclusions. The long and the short of it is Ned wrote to thank Alexis for helping him to find love again. But the love he found was with Chloe, not Alexis. So basically it was a good-bye letter. The rest of the wedding went off without a hitch, although Alexis looked ready to burst into tears. During the reception, Aunt Gertrude announces her surprise for the newlyweds -- a stay at her spa in Bora Bora. Chloe politely informs her that she has work to do and they will be honeymooning in Rome.

After the wedding ended and the guests were gone, Chloe returned to the gazebo to get her shoes. It turns out Jax had been keeping them for her. Jax reminded Chloe that he didn't get to kiss the bride. After an extremely romantic kiss, Chloe took her shoes from him.

Ned is in the honeymoon suite when there's a knock at the door and a female voice says"Room Service". What a surprise! Alexis walks in and they kiss. Alexis jokes that Ned has only been married for four hours and he's already cheating on his wife. She assures him that she was not followed. Alexis notices that Chloe is missing. Chloe is in the rose garden gazebo making out with Jax. Jax laments his bad timing. Chloe agrees and says they are asking for trouble and should stop what they're doing. Of course, that means they continue kissing. Alexis apologizes about Gertrude finding the letter. They each reveal that neither of their spouses came home with them. Ned theorizes that they are together in the rose garden. Alexis points out that a Jax-Chloe pairingwould be good for everyone. Ned and Alexis get romantic. Chloe tells Jax she must get to her husband. Chloe and Jax discuss the Gertrude problem and the need for discretion. They discuss weddings that have taken place on Q property. Chloe asks about Brenda and says that she met her once in Milan. They commiserate about losing someone close to them. Chloe lost her mother/best friend just as her design company was beginning. Ned and Alexis are embracing and Alexis wonders if they can pull off the Great Wedding Caper. Ned is optimistic. Chloe and Jax enter. Ned carries Chloe over the threshold as Jax takes a picture. The four toast each other.

Alexis and Jax are on the phone making business deals. Ned and Chloe walk in and Ned immediately embraces Alexis. Jax and Chloe sit down and Jax recommends a restaurant in Rome. Ned and Chloe make their goodbyes. Alexis is kind of depressed about Ned leaving for Rome, but tries to hide it. She tries to make this analogy to Jax about if he had forgotten his bear repellent on a trip to Alaska he would miss it even if he didn't need it, etc.. Jax points out that there is no such thing as bear repellent and he doesn't want his wife pining over another man so she must need a distraction. Surprise, let's go on our honeymoon to Rome, too!

Ned and Chloe were in Rome, but were having a bad time. Until, Jax and Alexis showed up. They talked and then came up with sleeping arrangements so Gertrude wouldn't figure anything out. A music montage of various PCers, ends showing that Jax slept on the sofa in his and Alexis' room, as did Ned in his and Chloe's room. Chloe and Jax, both wide eyed laying in bed, thinking about one another.
