Jax, Chloe, Ned and Alexis #3 November 5, 1999 - Feb
2, 2000 - 8 hrs
The mixed marrieds are having dinner together at Luke's where they are taking
some teasing from Luke about the early hour. They return the teasing by taking
bets on whether or not Luke will drop the two large boxed he is carrying. Just
as Luke is about to drop everything, Roy arrives with a helping hand. They are
now betting on which customer in Luke's is Gertrude's spy. Ned confesses that he
saw the guy that was following them on the way to the restaurant come in and he
points him out to the rest of the group. They laugh together about the lengths
they have gone to appear "married" to each other. Ned and Chloe finish
a dance and then rejoin Jax and Alexis at their table. They are delighted to
learn that Gertrude's spy has left. Chloe suggests that they leave as well.
Alexis readily agrees and asks Jax if Ned can sleep over. She reminds Jax that
he promised. Jax says that he is a man of his word. He will leave Ned and Alexis
alone and sneak off to take Chloe sailing. Chloe reminds Jax that their sailing
trips always seem to end in disaster. Jax promises Chloe that she can trust him
and she agrees to go sailing. A soaking wet Jax and Chloe are crawling up onto
the sand. Chloe is complaining about the driver of the boat that caused their
own boat to capsize. She realizes that her cell phone, which she actually
brought with her this time, was lost during their swim to shore. She asks Jax if
he knows where they are. Jax says that he is sure he will be able to identify
their location…once it is light enough to see it. Resigned to spending the
night on the beach, they cuddle together to stay warm. Chloe is trying to keep
warm and is bundled up in Jax's jacket. Jax tells her that she looks amazing,
even soaking wet. He tells her that she isn't making it easy. He says he hasn't
forgotten the decision they made to wait to make love, but he is damned if he
can remember how they reached that decision. Chloe smiles and says that she
thinks it had something to do with their future. Chloe is suddenly frightened by
an animal sound and asks Jax what is was. Jax says that it was his self control
going up in smoke. He leans in to kiss Chloe and they lay back on the sand
together as the kiss intensifies. Jax and Chloe decide to wait to make love but
continue to kiss. They're cold...but they can wait ... it's only a year. Then
they decide if they're going to freeze to death anyway, why not go ahead? Jax
says it's a known fact that vigorous physical activity is the best way to
prevent hypothermia. Jax and Chloe...still making out. Jax asks her breathlessly
if she's sure. He tries to remind her of everything she could lose. She's still
sure. They get really passionate. A fisherman comes up to them...says he saw
their fire and thought they might be in need of rescuing...but he can come back
for them in the morning if they want.
Juan and Emily met with Chloe & Ned, inspiring Chloe to make yet another
design, and calls them "adorable". Juan has decided that he's gonna
work his way up the ladder of L&B, and one day run it for Ned. Alexis
realized what her brother had been up to concerning Helena's condition, and
warned him not to tell Laura. Jax and Chloe decided to make a meeting in
"Heaven", finally as themselves, finally together. Jax meets Alexis on
the docks and he tells her that he's rented a room at an inn on the outskirts of
town. They're kissing (for just public view) and Jerry and Bobbie come along.
They talk about toning down the rehearsal dinner and Jerry tells Jax he's in big
trouble. Alexis and Bobbie leave and Jerry tells Jax he still can't figure out a
honeymoon spot. Chloe comes to the stairs on the docks and Alexis meets her
there. She tells her that she'll have Jax free by the count of 200 and she does.
Chloe and Jax are very happy to be going where they are going and they leave
for'heaven.' Jax and Chloe about to make love. They are undressing and it's
really sexy and then all of the sudden Chloe says she's tingling. Jax tells her
that's good and she says not that kind of tingling. She starts itching all over
and heasks her if it's the bear rug they're laying on and she nods. He's
laughing and she's itching. It was priceless. Jax took Chloe to a clinic when
her allergic reaction to the bear skin rug caused her to break out in hives. The
nurse told Jax and Chloe that the doctor was out delivering a cow, but that she
would give him a call. Chloe finally got an antihistamine shot for the itching,
which made her drowsy. Ned and Alexis arrived and the confused nurse offered to
sneak Jax out the back. Chloe asked what Ned and Alexis were doing there and Jax
told her, "They panic easily." After their spouses left, Chloe asked
Jax is perhaps fate wasn't trying to tell them something by always interrupting
their lovemaking attempts. Jax told her that they were in charge of their own
lives, not fate. Chloe asked him if he could still have romantic thoughts about
her when she looked the way she did and he assured her he did.
Back at Jax's, Alexis is packing for a trip as Jax arrives. He asks what she
is doing and she tells Jax that they are going to Greece. She found her father's
will, the original, and the attorney insisted that she read it in person. Jax
readily agrees to go with her. Stefan arrives as Jax and Alexis are discussing
the trip and asks to speak to his attorney. He wants to speak to Alexis in
private, but Jax says that there is nothing Stefan can say to Alexis that he
can't say in front of her husband. Stefan does not look pleased. Stefan informs
Alexis that Helena has recovered. He has sent her away from Wyndemere and
informed Mac. Alexis correctly assumes that Stefan wants to recant his
confession and says that she will take care of it right away. Jax comments that
it is nothing short of miraculous that Helena has recovered so completely.
Stefan tells Alexis to tell her husband to mind his own business.
After Stefan leaves, Alexis asks Jax why he was bating Stefan. Cassadines
don't like to be off balance. Jax says that if they can distract Stefan with
Helena, maybe he won't notice that she is going after the Cassadine fortune. Jax
tells Alexis that she doesn't have to put herself in danger to help his brother.
Alexis tells Jax that, other than Ned who she loves with all her heart, marrying
him was the best thing she ever did and that is why she is determined to help
him whether he likes it or not. Jax reluctantly agrees. Alexis tells Jax that he
is overreacting, but Jax insists that he isn't. Ned and Chloe arrive as Jax and
Alexis continue to argue about Helena. For once, Ned agrees with Jax that Helena
being at large changes everything. Alexis says that no one has to remind her how
dangerous Helena is, but that isn't going to stop her from going after the
Cassadine fortune. Chloe agrees that Alexis is entitled to her piece of the
Cassadine pie. Ned and Jax can't believe that Chloe is siding with Alexis. Ned
reminds Alexis of her promise to let go of all things Cassadine, but Alexis is
insistent. She says that the Cassadine money has never been used for anything
good. She doesn't really want the money, but it's the principle of the matter.
Realizing that Alexis is not going to be talked out of her plan, Ned, Jax and
Chloe agree to help her. Alexis suddenly realizes that she has to stay in town
to clear up the problem with Stefans' confession. Jax says that he will go in
Alexis' place. Ned agrees to watch over Alexis while Jax is gone. Chloe suddenly
remembers that she has a conference call and rushes off with a kiss for Jax and
a warning to be careful.
Alexis asks Ned if he wants to sleep over since her husband's out of town and
Ned readily agrees. She thanks Ned for being understanding. She knows how
difficult this is for him. Ned asks why she wants to give Jax the Cassadine
money to help Jerry. Alexis says that she want to know that just once, a
Cassadine has done something good. Ned tells Alexis that he loves her.
Jax is on the plane en route to Greece. The flight attendant walks up and
offers Jax champagne, but he politely declines. She asks if he is sure. Jax
looks up when he hears the voice and is surprised to see Chloe holding a tray
with a glass of champagne on it. Jax attempts to dissuade Chloe from
accompanying him to Greece, claiming that it is unsafe. Chloe is persistant and
informs her friend that she plans to pose as Alexis in front of Mikkos' lawyer.
She shows him ID identifying her as Alexis. She explains a friend of Simon's did
it for her. Naturally, Jax thinks she should not be there but finally agrees
when she makes it clear that if he takes her home she will only follow him
later. Chloe sleeps. Jax watches and reminisces about their past romantic
moments set to a music montage. She wakes and Jax reminds her about the risks.
They kiss. Ned and Alexis were also at Kelly's, discussing the danger factor of
Chloe and Jax going to Greece together. Alexis was taking the side that they
would be OK, that Jax would take care of things. Ned was taking the side that
Chloe always gets into trouble when she's with Jax.
Chloe (posing as Alexis) and Jax met with the attorney about Mikkos' will. He
opened the strongbox it was stored in with other legal documents. Just as he was
preparing to read the will, an armed henchman pointed a gun at him and told him
that Helena Cassadine wanted the contents of the box. They all prepared to
comply, then the thug told the lawyer that his services were no longer required
and shot him. Jax and Chloe pretended they would give him the box, then Chloe
beaned him with a vase, they beat him up, grabbed the box and ran. They paused
for a moment to catch their breath, then another henchman attacked them. Chloe
smashed this one with a nearby bottle of wine, they beat him up, grabbed the box
and ran again. When they paused on the bridge, Jax said he knew she was good at
swimming, but wondered how she was at jumping. They prepared to jump and Chloe
said, 'Just in case this is really it…" and planted a big kiss on him. He
told her if her face was the last thing he saw in life, he'd die a happy
man…then they jumped and we heard a big splash. Later, we saw that they of
course did not die. They paused in a doorway to open a box. Chloe expressed
dismay that the papers she grabbed only reflected what they knew and that it
wasn't worth dying over. Jax said, "This is", indicating the papers
heheld. Lights flashed over them and he kissed her to look inconspicuous or
something. Then they closed the box and ran again.
Jax and Chloe returned to Port Charles and delivered the documents to a
grateful Alexis but not before an angry Helena demanded her property back. Not
wanting her to know that they know the truth about Nikolas, Jax and Chloe
pretended that the only document they had was Mikkos's will. After she was shown
the door at Jax's apartment, Jax told Alexis of real discovery. Alexis read her
father's will with joy: it stated that he loved her and wanted to acknowledge
her in death, which he "couldn't do in life." Jax felt Alexis should
use the will to gain her share of the Cassadine fortune; she refused, however,
saying that Nik deserved to know who his father is. She apologized to the three
other mixed marrieds, saying she just couldn't cash in on her bloodline at the
expense of Nik. Alexis ferried over to Wyndemere to tell her gloomy brother that
he's not Nik's father. Helena was threatening Chloe and Jax stepped in to
protect her and threaten Helena that if she hurt Chloe he would destroy her.
Alexis tells Stefan that Nikolas is not his son. He doesn't believe her and
tells her the documents are obviously fake and she will pay for the duplicity.
She tells him it is true and he goes on about how she must be working for Helena
now. She tells him her theory of why Helena would do that and he seems to
finally believe her. It breaks his heart obviously, and he never wants Nikolas
to know. Jax tells Alexis that Nikolas should know and he has a right to know,
but he won't pressure Alexis into what she should do.
Jax comes across Alexis on the docks. He can tell that she is still torn
about what she should do about Nikolas. He gives her a comforting hug which she
thanks him for. He says that he is sorry that his honesty ruined her sleep.
Alexis says that she knows that Jax was right. Nikolas has the right to know the
truth, but she is worried about Stefan's reaction. Jax asks Alexis if she has
considered the possibility that Stefan may tell Nikolas the truth on his own.
Alexis says that she considered it and rejected it. Stefan was very firm and his
edicts are always issued in stone. She confesses to Jax that she was trying to
catch Nikolas but just missed him. Jax reassures her saying that Nikolas needs
to know the truth. As Alexis and Jax discuss the Nikolas predicament, Jerry
arrives in search of his best man. Jax leaves with Jerry and Alexis remains on
the docks to think about what she should do. Nikolas comes across Alexis on the
docks. He tells her not to bother going to Wyndemere since Helena is there.
Alexis tells Nikolas that she has to talk to him. Nikolas is reluctant because,
as he reminds Alexis, whenever they have something to discuss, it is usually bad
news. It's no one's fault, it is just the Cassadine curse. Alexis tells him that
unfortunately, that hasn't changed. Nikolas asks if they can do this another
time. He really isn't up to it right now. Nikolas starts to say that one of the
best things about not being the Prince… Alexis interrupts him by blurting out
to Nikolas that he IS the Prince. Nikolas is stunned into silence by Alexis'
revelation. She apologizes for being so blunt, then hands him the documents she
is holding and explains that they are the real paternity test which proves that
Stavros is Nikolas' father. Nikolas asks Alexis if he is supposed to be
grateful. He accuses her of lying saying that if she really thought that the
document was authentic, she would have taken it straight to Stefan. Alexis tells
Nikolas that she did take it to Stefan yesterday. She apologizes for not doing
this very well, but says that Stefan was adamant that Nikolas not know the truth.
Nikolas tells Alexis that he will deal with it and asks her to please leave him
alone.
Bobbie comes down the aisle and the feds come crashing in to arrest Jerry on
the charge of money laundering and is taken away insisting he's innocent. Jax's
parents ask him and Alexis to help. Jax apologizes to Bobbie for everything
that's happened. John and Jane promise that Bobbie is family and they'll all
take care of her. Jax, Alexis, Jane, and John go back to Jax's penthouse. Jax
and Alexis admit they knew all along, so did dad. Mom thanks them for keeping
her out of the loop. Chloe comes in and asks how the wedding was…she clearly
doesn't know what happened. Jax briefs her, she asks if there's anything she can
do to help. John dismisses her saying it's a family matter. She looks a little
crushed and leaves. Jane says that all she wants for Jerry is what Jax and
Alexis have. They go. Jax tells Alexis if she wants out, now is the time because
the house of cards is about to fall down. Alexis is staying…he's glad he
married her. They share a sweet hug. Cut to Chloe standing in the hallway.
The Jax’s try to figure out a way to help Jerry. Jax finally agrees to
accept Ned’s offer to sell L&B, but refuses Chloe’s offer to sell Chloe
Morgan Designs – their lives are tied up in making sure she keeps her company.
Ned agrees not to sell L&B until Alexis determines if the FBI will
negotiate. The Ashtons leave and Chloe informs Ned that she is going to sell the
company. Ned is not surprised.
Musical Montage – sounded like a Sting song, A soulful song played while we
watched: Carly touch her lips, Jax looking intently at his wedding band (!),
Chloe and Ned hugging warmly, Liz and Jason riding the motorcycle, Carly kissing
the engagement ring Jason gave her, Sonny looking out the window, then looking
totally pissed as he turned away, Roy on the docks, Bobbie crying in her
apartment.
Jax comes to visit Jerry in prison first thing in the morning. Jerry wants to
know about Bobbie and Lucas. Jax replies that he spoke to Bobbie on the phone
and that she still believes the arrest is all a big mistake. Jerry says he
should have admitted his guilt to her but that he thought he still had time to
get out of the business. Jax replies that Jerry has to admit that he has a
problem. Jax will see him through this time because he's his brother and loves
him, but that it can't happen again. Jax says he's going to see Bobbie, and
Jerry asks him to tell her that he loves her, but not to admit his guilt. He'll
do that himself when she comes to visit him that afternoon. Jax arrives at
Bobbie's, and they briefly discuss Jax' parents and Lucas. Bobbie tells Jax that
she found the honeymoon tickets and assures him that everything will be
straightened out soon. Jax tells Bobbie that Jerry loves her, and leaves.
Jax is at home, leaving a message for Alexis to phone him when she hears
something. Chloe arrives, and Jax tells her that Jerry has admitted his guilt
but can't turn state's evidence against Moreno for fear of retaliation. Jax then
apologizes for his parents' behavior towards Chloe, but she assures him that all
is well and advises him to think of himself for a change. What does he need?
"A miracle to help my brother". She removes his jacket, tie, and shoes
and tells him to stretch out on the sofa. She begins to rub his temples, and
they kiss. And kiss. He is about to carry her off to the bedroom when the phone
rings - it's Dad, Mom needs to see Jax. He departs as Chloe assures him that she
will be there when he returns. Jax returns later, explaining that his mother was
very upset about Jerry's arrest. He's glad she stayed, they kiss some more, and
then Chloe says she must leave. Jax phones someone with instructions to
liquidate all his European assets.
Jax showed Ned how much cash he'd been able to come up with by liquefying his
European assets. Ned boasted that he could make that in a day. Chloe and Alexis
arrived and the four discussed the pros and cons of traditional Thanksgiving
dinner. Jax preferred Moose and Ned was hooked on pizza by being a Quartermaine.
Chloe told them "Tough," she had already ordered a dinner and all they
had to do was go pick it up. Everyone but Jax left to get it and Jax remembered
his times with Chloe from the day they met to the present. The song, "Head
Over Heels" played. Later, the four had dinner together and Jax offered up
a touching toast.
Bobbie is at Jax's apartment with Alexis, saying that she is grateful for the
support of all the Jacks, including the parents, but that she really needs to
know if Jerry will be going to prison. Alexis says that he will be, and Bobbie
wants to know what the best case scenario is. Alexis replies ten years, maybe
out in four. Bobbie wonders how long she can wait for him, and starts to get
worked up about the topic, and Alexis tries to calm her by saying that it isn't
a good time to be asking herself these questions. Bobbie wants to know when that
time will be - she was ready to marry Jerry and stay married "until one of
us died", but Alexis just counsels again to give herself time. Bobbie and
Alexis continue the discussion of Bobbie's feelings for Jerry and his probable
imprisonment, and Bobbie says that she is mainly angry about the lies that he
told her. Alexis says that she grew up in a family where everyone told lies all
the time, and that something inside a person changes in that environment. Bobbie
points out that Alexis chose to marry someone who tells the truth, apologizes
for ranting and thanks Alexis for allowing her to vent. They hug, and Bobbie
leaves.
Ned arrives with a tray - he's got wine, caviar and other goodies. He was
hoping to surprise her in bed, but Alexis explains that Bobbie was just there.
They discuss Bobbie and the Jerry situation, and Ned says that he's in prison,
too - "the Gertrude Morgan Penitentiary". They flirt and wind up
snuggling on the sofa. Later, in bed, Alexis is wondering if they're taking too
many risks with something so very precious - their relationship - but Ned
reassures her that they are just doing a favor for a friend and that it will
only be a few months more. She remains unconvinced, but Ned is certain all will
be well. being worse than she is - he's the lowest.
At the Quartermaine's, Alan, AJ, Chloe, Lila, Ned and Edward are gathering
for breakfast. Lila greets Chloe and they chat; Edward explains that he invited
Chloe to please Lila. Gertrude arrives, thanking Edward for facilitating the
meeting, and Ned and Chloe prepare to leave but Gertrude's next words stop them
- it won't work to plan to sell Chloe Morgan designs. Chloe smugly states that
she already has two offers, but Gertrude elaborates - she doesn't mean that it
isn't possible, simply that it isn't legal. She's got an injunction to stop the
sale. Ned says that he will have Alexis look at the injunction, and Edward
explains to Gertrude that it is just a ploy by Ned and Chloe to get the company
away from her. Gertrude states that thus far she has been behaving like a lady,
but that she, too, can fight dirty if needs be, and that she will prove that Ned
and Chloe'' marriage is a sham. Lila scolds all of them for their unseemly
behavior and leaves. Gertrude makes a comment, and Edward defends Lila. Alan
apologizes to Gertrude for Edward's behavior, offers to walk her to her car and
they leave together. Chloe tells Edward that it hurts that he is conspiring
against her, but Edward counters that it is his duty to protect Lila's side of
the family. AJ and Ned bicker about ELQ - Ned says that Edward's plan is to see
L&B bankrupt so that Ned will return to rescue ELQ from Junior, but AJ
insists that ELQ has never been in better shape. Chloe and Ned leave together.
At Alexis' suite, Ned shows her the injunction that is to prevent the sale of
Chloe's company. Alexis says she thought Chloe was planning to sell her company
anyway, and Chloe replies that she changed her mind. Alexis says that while she
isn't angry, she knows Jax wouldn't like it. Chloe explains that if Gertrude is
planning to prove that her marriage to Ned is a fake, she has to fight back. She
can't stand it anymore - she hates her Aunt Gertrude. Alexis says she needs to
go over Uncle Herbert's will once more, and does so while Chloe and Ned bicker.
Alexis interrupts - she's found a way to beat Aunt Gertrude! Gertrude has to
remarry, then she has no claim. They need to find Aunt Gertrude a husband!
Ned and Chloe arrive at the Q's to meet with Lila. While they wait, they toss
names of potential husbands for Gertrude. They come up with Mike. They think
they can make Gertrude believe that he is rich and they are pretty sure that
Mike will go along with the plan. They are very pleased with themselves when a
very angry Edward arrives with Gertrude in tow. Gertrude is very distressed that
she has been barred from a proper suite in the hotel. Chloe apologizes saying
that they will rectify the situation immediately. She also apologizes for the
fight they had earlier. She tells Gertrude that she feels very bad that she
misunderstood her motivations. She lays on the flattery telling Gertrude that
she is still an attractive and vital woman and that she deserves to be loved.
Gertrude looks suspicious, but is clearly pleased with the compliment.
At the Q's Gertrude continues to gush over Alan. She, Alan and Edward finally
leave together while Ned and Chloe remain to wait for Lila. Once Ned and Chloe
are alone they discuss the possibility of Alan being the new love in Gertrude's
life. Chloe doesn' think it is such a good idea, but Ned thinks they deserve
each other! While they are talking, Jax calls Chloe on her cell phone. He says
that he has just arrived back in Port Charles and wants to see her and Ned at
his penthouse as soon as possible. Aside from missing her, he has some important
news.
At the police department, Jax, Alexis, and Jerry meet with the FBI to
negotiate. Alexis presents a proposal to repay the government the money that
Jerry laundered, but the Feds are not interested. Jax attempts to plead guilty
to collusion, but the Feds reject that offer as well. In fact, the FBI declares
that no proposals will be accepted and the officials tell Jerry that he will be
taken to Washington, D.C. later in the evening.
Alexis returns to the penthouse to tell Ned and Chloe that her proposals to
save Jerry failed. Meanwhile, at the police department, Jax and Jerry say
goodbye. Jerry asks his brother to look after Bobbie and Lucas and Jax agrees to
do so. Bobbie arrives several moments later, but it is to late to see Jerry, who
has been taken away.
Jax met Chloe at Kelly's and they discussed Jerry's case. She told him that
she didn't want him going to prison for Jerry and he told her that the FBI
wasn't interested anyway. He said how arrogant it was for him to think he could
buy Jerry out again and told her that Alexis was working on getting Jerry out on
bail, if only for a few day. Chloe said that she knew Jax had done all he could
do to help and that it was killing him that he couldn't help. He agreed that it
still was.
Juan and Emily are showing Chloe and Ned the empty restaurant they have found
for the new home office of L&B Records. Ned is less than enthusiastic,
thinking that even if it is feasible, the cost would be prohibitive, but Chloe
begins to see the possibilities, and submits that it is a good location. Juan
and Emily insist that the place has terrific acoustics, and press Ned to sing.
At first he refuses, but then gives in, sings a few bars, and agrees that the
building may work out after all.
Bobbie is visiting Alexis at her home, explaining that she went to see Jerry
and that he feels he will go to jail. She wants to know if Alexis thinks there
is any chance for Jerry to beat the sentence. Alexis is stating that a sentence
is probable when Jax arrives. Alexis explains her plan to petition the judge,
but tells Jax that even if the judge accepts, the cost could be exorbitant. He
reminds her of his recent trip to Europe and assures her that he has enough
money. She tells him that he will probably have to put up everything he has to
bail Jerry out, and Jax replies, "Whatever it takes".
Later, Alexis and Jax go to visit Jerry in jail. She is explaining her
petition when Dara enters, and they exchange a volley of snide remarks. Dara
leaves; Alexis says she feels that there is a good chance Judge Webster will set
bail, then she leaves Jax and Jerry alone. Jax asks Jerry his plans, but Jerry
says that he is not expecting to get out on bail. Jax persists - what would he
do if he did get out...marry Bobbie, go right back to laundering money? Jerry
says that he would probably go back to crime, and Jax asks why. Jerry replies
that the last time he was arrested he almost lost his brother, this time he lost
Bobbie; but why does Jax marry a great woman like Alexis and then cheat on her
with Chloe? It's the same thing - "we are who we are". Jax states that
he will help Jerry get over it, but Jerry insists it won't help. Jax vows not to
walk away from him.
Ned brings Alexis to the proposed L&B headquarters and wants her opinion
of it. She mistakenly thinks he wants her opinion of the lease, but he explains
that he wants her opinion of the acoustics instead. She begins to tell him that
she knows nothing about acoustics when he pulls out a guitar and plays a song
for her, singing to her. They kiss. Jax returns home to find Chloe asleep on the
sofa. He kisses her awake and tells her that Jerry made bail and that he's not
giving up on his brother although he's having a hard time believing that he can
save Jerry from himself. Chloe is irritated and states that only Jerry can save
himself, but Jax soothes her by saying that he's just glad that she's with him,
and they kiss.
Chloe arrives at Jax's for a surprise visit. Jax is delighted to see her, but
tells her that he has something he has to do right now. Chloe understands and
leaves saying that she will see him later. Just as Chloe leaves, Jax receives a
phone call. It is not good news and he angrily tells the person on the other end
of the line that he will find someone else to help him.
Chloe arrives at the PC Grille to meet Alexis and Ned for dinner. She is
concerned about Jax, but agrees with Ned and Alexis that the more urgent problem
is Aunt Gertrude. They decide that they need to proceed with caution. Gertrude
can't know that they are planning to set her up. On cue, Edward and Gertrude
arrive at the restaurant. They exchange small talk with Ned, Alexis and Chloe
and then continue on to their own table. AJ and Alan arrive shortly thereafter
(busy day at the Grille!) and Gertrude notices Alan right away. She stands up
and waves her napkin to get his attention. Ned, Alexis and Chloe look on with
interest as Gertrude practically throws herself at Alan. Gertrude invites Alan
and AJ to join them, but Edward nixes that plan saying that he and Gertrude have
business to discuss. Gertrude is insistent, however, and Alan and AJ finally
agree. Chloe points out that Alan is already married. Ned says that that may not
be a problem.
Jax's business meeting is not going as well as he had hoped. The man he is
meeting with tells him that he can't help him because it is too risky. Jax
thanks him and shows him to the door. Once the man is gone, Jax picks up the
phone and makes a call. He asks the person on the other end of the line to
please come to his house as soon as possible. It's urgent.
Ned, Alexis and Chloe agree that they can't break up Monica and Alan just to
find Gertrude a husband. They decide that they need someone who will be in on
the plan with them. They can't think of anyone, but they know that Gertrude's
husband is out there. They just have to find him.
Sonny arrives at Jax's penthouse. Jax thanks him for coming. Sonny says that
this had better be good. Jax opens a suitcase to display a large amount of cash.
He tells Sonny that he needs his expertise and he is willing to pay for it.
Sonny says that Jax must want something real bad. Jax explains to Sonny that he
wants to get Jerry out of the country. He will pay Sonny any amount of money to
make it happen. Sonny asks Jax what he would ever need from him. Jax tells Sonny
that they are alike in some ways. He may not need him now, but he may need him
someday. He never imagined that he would need Sonny, but things happen. Sonny
asks Jax if he has any idea what it means to owe him. Jax assures Sonny that he
will pay him back when the time comes.
At Jax's penthouse, Sonny tells Jax that he will help him, but reminds Jax
that he is participating in a life of crime. The two disagree about many things,
including Sonny's treatment of Brenda, but they eventually reach an agreement.
Sonny will make Jerry disappear if Jax agrees to be in his debt and owe him a
favor, which Jax does. Sonny and Jax decide to work together in Brenda's honor,
although Jax is reluctant to believe that Sonny's behavior would please Brenda.
Jerry arrives at Jax's penthouse and his brother informs him of the plan. Jax
tells Jerry that he has been working with Sonny and that he has constructed an
arrangement that will permit Jerry to disappear permanently. Jax professes his
love for his brother and explains that this is in his brother's best interest,
because he knows that Jerry would never be satisfied with life in a jail cell.
Jax departs, giving Jerry a chance to compose his thoughts.
Jax met Sonny on the docks and Sonny told him that Jerry's departure was all
arranged. He and Jax haggled about the details: Jax wanted them and Sonny didn't
want to give them. They discussed which of them was taking the greatest risk.
After Jax was skeptical about Sonny's means for about the fifth time, Sonny
reminded him who had come to whom for help. Jax told him he'd have Jerry on the
docks to leave in two hours.
Jerry stood on the docks with Jax preparing to leave and hoping that Bobbie
would show up. He and Jax said a tearful good-bye and Jerry got in the speedboat
and left. Alexis came up as Jerry was leaving and gave Jax a hug. She said that
she had a feeling that something had just happened that she shouldn't know about
and they left together.
Jax gets a call from Jerry who is now on the run. Jax advises him to be
careful and watch his back. After the call, Jax tells Alexis that it was a wrong
number. He is protecting her from knowledge of Jerry's escape but she knows who
was on the phone.
Juan, Emily and Ned are at the new headquarters for L&B Records. Ned
sends Juan and Emily out for cleaning supplies while Chloe conducts business
over the phone. After her call, she is enthusiastic about the merger of Chloe
Morgan Designs with L&B. Enter Alexis, and she and Ned kiss while Chloe,
once again on the phone, argues about buttons. Alexis explains that she is
worried about Jax, and Chloe hurriedly signs the lease and rushes off to comfort
him, leaving Ned and Alexis to resume kissing. Later, Juan and Emily are alone
at L&B HQ. Juan has big plans for how he'll one day be the one running
L&B Records, and then he and Emily indulge in horseplay with cleaning
supplies.
At Jax's, Bobbie arrives and reports that Jerry called her. She wants to know
if Jax got a chance to say goodbye to his brother, and tells him that Jerry
asked her and Lucas to accompany him. Jax thinks that Jerry was better for the
time he had with Bobbie, and assures her that she's still part of the Jacks
family. She begins to cry, and Jax looks like he's fighting tears, too. Later,
after Bobbie has gone, Chloe arrives bearing muffins and coffee. Chloe thinks
Jerry took Jax's money and ran, but despite Jax casual reply that "we'll
just make some more", she feels so sorry that he has to go through all
this. Jax explains how Jerry took care of him when he was a boy, tells her about
some of their youthful escapades, and how he always missed Jerry until recently
in Port Charles when he got to see him every day. It's hard for him to believe
Jerry's really gone again.
Chloe enters Jax's apartment saying that this thing with Gertrude has got to
stop! She tells Ned and Alexis that she nearly tripped over one of Gertrude's
spies. The threesome discusses their latest plan to get Gertrude off of their
backs. They are all concerned about Jax's reaction to their plan. Jax arrives
and the group immediately clams up. Jax asks what they were talking about and
they make up a lame excuse about how they were discussing the L&B/Chloe
Morgan designs merger. Chloe, Ned and Alexis tell Jax all about their plan to
marry Gertrude off. Jax thinks it's a great idea, but wants to know who the
lucky groom is. Ned, Alexis and Chloe explain that they were considering
approaching Mike Corbin. They think he could pull off the con. They are all
shocked when Jax says that he loves the idea of Sonny's father working for them.
Mike arrives at Jax's with more than a little trepidation. The gang is way too
happy to see him so Mike asks them to just get to the point. They explain that
they have a job for him and they are willing to pay him $100,000. Mike is
understandably skeptical, but they all assure him that he is the perfect man for
the job. Mike wonders what they think he is capable of, but he is pretty sure
that there is nothing he can do for them that is worth that much money. Jax says
that all he has to do is get married.
The mixed marrieds tell Mike the details of their plan. They tell him that
they will supply everything. They will provide him with an expense account to
cover everything. The $100K is above and beyond any expenses. All he has to do
is get Gertrude to marry him. Mike wants to know why it is so important to marry
Getrude off. Ned explains that Gertrude is trying to take Chloe's company and a
marriage would take her out of the running. Mike asks what Gertrude is like. The
foursome is temporarily at a loss for words (at least words that are
complimentary!), but manages to come up with determined, lively… Mike says
that he gets the picture and thanks, but no thanks. He starts to leave, but
Chloe stops him saying that she thinks she knows of a way to convince him. Chloe
tells Mike that she knows that they are asking a lot, but they approached him
because they truly believe that he is the right man for the job. They aren't
even sure that Gertrude will like him. All they are asking for is one dinner.
She tells him that they will pay him $1,000 up front. If he doesn't think it
will work out than he walks away $1,000 richer and with no further obligation.
Mike agrees and they tell him thatthey will contact him with the details. Ned
sends Mike off warning him to trust no one. Once he is gone, the gang celebrates
their victory. They all congratulate Chloe for her quick thinking. Ned and
Alexis go off to "celebrate" alone. Alone at last, Jax tells Chloe
that she was quite impressive. Chloe says that she was highly motivated.
In
his penthouse, Jax embraces Chloe, but they are interrupted when Mike comes to
the door. Mike explains that he does not want to marry Gertrude, but Jax and
Chloe convince him to give it one try. At the PC Grille, Mike and Chloe practice
an evening with Gertrude (with Chloe pretending to be Gertrude) as Ned, Jax, and
Alexis watch. Chloe gives Mike pointers on how best to interact with her aunt.
After the meal, Mike agrees to join the foursome's scheme. Appropriately enough,
just as Mike has accepted, Gertrude enters the restaurant. After introductions,
Gertrude joins Mike at his table and the two appear toget along well. When
Gertrude is called away, Mike informs the foursome that his rates have just
skyrocketed.
Jax
and Alexis discussed her upcoming night with Ned and her excitement about it. He
told her he didn't mind her going out and about now because once his parents got
here, all of her time would be taken up with family activities. She told him
that was fine because she was very much looking forward to a Jax family
Christmas.
Chloe and Ned were at L&B and he was prepping her for his upcoming
absence. She told him she wanted to be sure he had a great time and he asked her
where she had been four marriages ago. She smiled and said, "Probably at a
Whitesnake concert." Jax called and invited her out for the afternoon. Ned
and Alexis met at L&B and she commented on the new décor. Ned said he liked
the energy of the room and admitted that Chloe had a funky style of decorating.
Alexis asked if she could decorate her own office because she couldn't work in a
funky room. She had some papers about Miguel for him to sign and he put his mark
on her instead, with a big kiss. Chloe came to see Jax with a fat bag of
presents. He asked if there was anything in there for him and she smacked his
hand away. They made plans to meet later in the day and also to spend New Year's
Eve together. Ned asked Juan about his intentions towards Emily and Juan went
into a heartfelt speech about how Emily made him a good person and how much he
loved her. Ned told her he'd better not be lying to him or he's cut off his
arms, legs, ears and nose.
Mike and Gertrude are at the hotel restaurant, and he is flirting shamelessly
with her, trying to impress her with a fake phone call on "his" cell
phone (actually borrowed from Chloe). Ned, Chloe, Alexis and Jax look on in
approval as Gertrude invites Mike to join her at her table for dinner. Tammy
enters, in search of a gift certificate for Mike, and spies Mike and Gertrude as
they share a toast. Jax spots Tammy glowering at the door and intervenes as she
is about to approach Mike's table. Jax explains that Mike is at a very important
business meeting involving "serious money", but Tammy is skeptical.
"Trust me", Jax insists, but Tammy doesn't, and leaves. Mike speaks up
as Jax passes and asks if everything is all right with "the blond
lady" and Jax tells him that there is no problem. After Jax has gone back
to his own table, Mike explains that Jax has an eye for the ladies, and warns
her that "he [Jax] is a well-known Lothario, and could easily destroy your
niece's marriage". Later, at Jax's apartment, Jax gives Chloe her Christmas
gift - a little replica of their wishing fountain, and inside is a gold
bracelet. She is pleased, and gives him her gift, which turns out to be a little
boat model. She says it's one he can't capsize, but he is not amused and gets
very quiet, explaining that "there's no way she could have known". She
presses for an explanation of his reaction to her gift, so he tells her that he
and Brenda were married on a yacht and later his parents gave her a little one
as a gift and memento - they used to keep it on the mantelpiece. Chloe is upset,
takes back her gift, wishes Jax a good Christmas and leaves quickly. As she
waits for the elevator, she begins to cry. Jax hangs up the phone and informs
Alexis that his parents have decided to delay their arrival by a day. Alexis is
going just a little overboard with the decorations in an attempt to make things
festive for Jax's parents. She feels bad about the whole Jerry thing and wants
them to have a good Christmas. She changes the subject by asking Jax what
happened with Chloe. Jax tells her about Chloe's gift to him.
At Kelly's, Ned notices that Chloe looks a little down and asks what's wrong.
She confesses that she and Jax exchanged Christmas presents. She loved his gift
to her, but she managed to give him the perfect reminder of Brenda. Chloe tells
Ned that Jax has always been very open and honest about his feelings for Brenda,
but she never realized how much of a presence Brenda still was in his life until
he opened the Christmas present. She could tell by the look on Jax's face that
his feelings for Brenda are still so powerful. She can't compete with a memory
and she doesn't want to push herself on Jax. She thinks maybe she needs to back
off. Ned says that he knows just what she and Jax need. He gets up to leave and
drags a protesting Chloe with him. Jax tells Alexis about Chloe's Christmas
gift. He feels very bad that he ruined Chloe's surprise. He explained everything
to Chloe, but still, the damage was done. All she wanted to do was make him
happy and now she thinks she ruined his day. Alexis suggests to Jax that he and
Chloe need to get away alone. They are always sneaking around and pretending to
be something they aren't. Jax laughs and says that she is probably right.
Dave Koz plays Christmas music on the sax as they all gather at GH for the
Christmas party (the fab four aren't there). Ned and Chloe arrive at the Jacks'.
Chloe is clearly uncomfortable and tells Jax that they probably won't stay long.
Meanwhile, Alexis is pumping Ned for information about her gift. Noticing the
elaborate decorations, Ned asks Alexis to help her decorate the gatehouse.
Before they can protest, Jax and Chloe are alone. Jax and Chloe start to speak
at the same time and then stop. Jax lets Chloe go first. She explains that she
thinks Ned and Alexis leaving was a set up. Jax apologizes for his reaction to
her gift. There was no way that she could have known. Chloe says that she
understands his feelings for Brenda and she understands if he needs some time.
Jax says that he will always have feelings for Brenda, but he will never use
that as an excuse to stop living his life. He promises Chloe that his past with
Brenda will not get in the way of his feelings for her.
The sounds of Dave Koz playing "Have yourself a Merry Little Christmas
is set in a music montage to the following scenes: the Q's sharing Christmas
together. The mixed marrieds are together and happy. Jax and Chloe share a
kisswhile Ned and Alexis do the same. Emily and Juan share kiss under the
mistletoe. Bobbie is alone with a gift that Jerry had delivered to the hospital.
She can't help but look a little sad as she eats her red licorice. Roy comes
across Hannah on the docks and gathers her up into a comforting hug. Alone,
Sonny stares out the window of his penthouse and watches thesnow fall. Tammy and
Mike leave together happily arm in arm just as Nik, arrives at Kelly's to look
for Liz. At the art studio, Liz presents Jason with a Christmas gift and a kiss
on the cheek. Jason is clearly touched by the gesture. Stefan arrives at Laura's
with her Christmas gift. He is saddened when no one answers his knock. The
reunited Scorpio's are happily gathered around the tree.
Chloe came running into L&B, literally. She told Ned that exercise
reduces stress and he commented that she was actually early for a meeting. Chloe
wanted to know what the meeting was about and told him that it had better not be
about her trip around the world with Jax so that they could celebrate the
millenium in four time zones. Ned looked surprised and Chloe realized she had
spilled the beans. Alexis and Jax also come running in with Alexis complaining
that Jax made her run 6 blocks in heels. Ned questions Jax "What are you
doing with MY WIFE" re: his New Year's Eve plans and labeled it
'ridiculous'. Alexis said it was pure Jax. Chloe thought it was splendid. Mike
entered and they told him it was essential that he keep Gertrude busy on New
Year's and handed him a fat envelope of cash. He said no go, that he already had
plans with a special lady. After much coercion, he agreed that they had a deal
for New Year's. He left with the cash and Chloe left to pack. Afterwards, Ned
and Alexis laughed together about what amateurs Jax and Chloe were at the
infidelity game.
Jax came to the hospital and asked Bobbie if Stefan was around so he could
arrange his annual donation. He asked her if she had made it though Christmas OK
and she said she hadn't really had a choice and told him Stefan was in his
office. On his way, he ran into Chloe who was wrapped in feather boas she had
brought to play dress up with the children's ward for their Millenium Party. He
asked her if she needed help and she said she could manage until the millenium.
Felicia is at the Quartermaine's, on the phone with Chloe. They confirm that
the Café Matisse is the new digs for Chloe Morgan Designs, and make an
appointment to meet later. Felicia arrives at Chloe Morgan Designs to
congratulate Chloe on her merger and her new workspace, and gives her a gift - a
little pyramid to help Chloe "concentrate her energies". They chat a
bit about Lucy Coe, Lucy's wedding, and Felicia's wedding reception with Mac,
held in the building Chloe is now using. Felicia goes on with her reminiscences,
slowly going from happy memories to a sad "that was then, this is now"
thing, and Chloe wonders what's going on. Felicia tries to explain: Luke, with
whom she shared very little history, was adrift after Lucky's death and she
wanted to help him. It began when she enlisted his help in solving a mystery
with Lila's book and after a while she became "the reason he gets out of
bed in the morning". Chloe asks if Felicia is in love with Luke, and she
vehemently denies it, stating that she loves Mac and her family. Felicia cries,
and she and Chloe hug.
Chloe and Jax are in Jax's airplane making mutual declarations of affection
when Chloe decides that going to Times Square is too dangerous - Mike is
planning to take Gertrude there, also, and they might run into one another. Jax
is skeptical of this, but willing change his plans when Chloe says that she just
wants to go someplace where they can be alone. They arrive at the undisclosed
location and it is a beautiful suite - big bed, lots of candles, private garden.
Chloe wishes Jax a happy New Year and he replies "happy us". They
dance, then make love, and later go out on the terrace to dance in the rain.
Meanwhile, back at the Grille, Ned is on the phone with Alexis who is waiting
for him in bed. He isn't able to be with her right away, as he has to make sure
the plan with Mike and Gertrude is going well. Mike arrives in snazzy formal
wear, and he and Ned go over The Plan. Gertrude arrives a minute later, and she
and Mike exchange greetings and compliments. She is having second thoughts about
the trip to Times Square, though, because of the "Y2K brouhaha", and
when she asks Mike to dine at the Grille, he agrees. All is going well with
Gertrude and Mike when Sonny arrives and decides to join them. Gertrude has no
idea that Mike has a son, and Sonny has no idea that Mike is a "real estate
developer". It's all terribly awkward, although amusing to Sonny, until he
sees Taggert and Hannah arrive and quickly leaves. Edward arrives at the Grille
next, and asks after Chloe (Ned says she's in Milan on business). He pressures
Ned to join the Quartermaine party, and Ned reluctantly agrees. The rest of the
party arrives, dressed to the teeth.
Mike is still weaving tall tales for Gertrude when Bobbie and Tammy arrive at
the Grille. Tammy takes one look at Mike (who's just turned to order more
champagne) and his "business meeting" and loses her appetite. She and
Bobbie leave the restaurant, and Mike decides to cut the evening with Gertrude
short. He makes some excuse about a business meeting in Manhattan and rushes
out, promising to make it up to her. Edward sees Gertrude as she is leaving and
calls her over to his table. She tells Edward and Ned about Mike's sudden
departure and allows Edward to convince her to join the Quartermaine party, much
to Ned's consternation. Lila enters the Grille, saying that she wanted to ring
in the New Year with Edward. Ned greets her, then departs.
A New Year's Eve music montage is set to "As Time Goes By", and we
see Mike and Tammy dancing in the diner, wearing their shiny hats and sharing a
kiss, AJ watching as Sonny and Carly emerge from the elevator; Alan and Monica
having a hug and a kiss, Edward and Lila exchanging fond looks, Emily and Juan
sharing a kiss, Luke alone at his club, Laura with Stefan, Alexis pretending to
be asleep as Ned comes in, then waking to kiss him, and Chloe and Jax dancing in
the rain.
Jax and Chloe do a lot of pillow talking about whether he is a playboy and if
he played any games with her. He says maybe at the beginning in the gazebo but
then he got to know the real her. They both say they never want to let the other
go. Jax and Chloe return from their romantic adventure around the world, only to
take right up where they left off on Jax’s couch. Alexis catches them, she
ridicules Chloe for not having the “experience” of cheating on her husband
and they laugh. Alexis admits to chloe that they are lucky because they a
probably happier in their marriages than most people are. Mike goes to see Tammy
at Ruby’s to try to explain his “business” deal. Ned inturrupts the
conversation to give Mike grief about leaving Gertrude alone before midnight on
New Year’s Eve. Mike explains he could not stand up Tammy because he cares
about her. Ned continues to ride him about finishing the job quickly. Ned agrees
to Mike’s terms, they must tell Tammy the truth.
At the penthouse, Taggert questions Sonny about the bomb, suggesting that he
is responsible. Alexis is there, too, and tries to step in, but Sonny insists
that he's willing to cooperate and names his biggest opponent: the FBI. Taggert
gets his point, but says that if anything should happen to Sorel, Taggert will
come right to Sonny. Alexis puts a stop to the exchange, saying that the meeting
is over, and Taggert leaves. Alexis wonders what all the FBI talk was about, and
Sonny tells her about Hannah. He asks if there is any chance he can press
charges for entrapment, but when Alexis tries to ask questions about the
relationship, including how they met, Sonny becomes angry. Alexis explains that
she needs the information in order to answer his question and Sonny apologizes
for being unpleasant. Alexis states that everyone can be unpleasant when they're
hurt, and she leaves.
At L&B Records. Chloe comes in carrying a ton of stuff and talking on her
phone. Emily and Juan wander off to do whatever it is that they doand Liz is
alone with Chloe. As Chloe is going around and around with a supplier on her
cell phone, the office phone rings, and Liz jumps in as the perfect
receptionist. Chloe notices. Later, Ned comes in while Chloe is still on the
phone and Liz hands him his messages. He is impressed that they're legible and
hopes someone hired her when he wasn't looking.Chloe gets off of the phone and
agrees. Liz and Chloe discuss the idea of her working as an assistant, and
decide to think about it. Emily tells Ned that she's found L&B's next
artist. Emily talks Juan into singing for her…while Ned is standing outside
the room. He does, and Ned listens…until the phone starts ringing and Ned
comes in to answer it. Juan isn't too pleased with Emily's trick. He doesn't
want to ride on Miguel's coattails. He also tells Ned that he doesn't want to be
a singer, but an executive like him. Ned tells Juan that he has a good voice,
but there's more than that to a successful singing career. After Ned leaves,
Juan comes down hard on Emily and says she must want her boyfriend to be some
hot new singer, and that isn't him. She makes her "immature little
brat" face as he stalks off.
Ned tells Chloe about Juan, saying he has potential and hints at the fact
that he might be missing singing himself. Mike comes in and tells them that he
quits. Ned tries to threaten him a little, but Mike gives the money back. Chloe
is more compassionate: now they have extra information when they brief their
next candidate. Ned hints that he has someone in mind. Both Ned and Chloe
acknowledge that their game is getting old and are looking forward to getting
back to the correct partners. The Jax's are preparing to leave for the party,
but pause to discuss Operation Gertrude. Ned thinks that Alan should be the next
candidate in the “Marry Gertrude” sweepstakes. The other three point out
that Alan is married. Ned explains that Alan and Monica are due for their next
divorce. Ned is confident that Alan will cooperate. At the party, AJ welcomes
the European guests. Edward welcomes Gertrude. Gertrude flirts with Alan. Monica
tells Alan that the hospital has paged them and drags him away. Jax chats with
Johan, the German guest, who is an old business friend. AJ pipes up “Jax is a
member of our board." The guy says, “I know” and continues chatting
with Jax and Alexis. Ned talks with the Rene, the French guest; Chloe translates
for them. Edward drags AJ off and wants to know where Carly is. Johan says that
he misses doing business with Ned. Edward jumps in and says that Ned I still
involved with ELQ – he is a board member and acts as a consultant. Ned
suggests that AJ give the guys a tour of the caviar and the Jaxtons go into the
living room. AJ asks if they’ve had a change to look over his proposals. They
respond by saying, “oh, look, there’s caviar” and walk away.
The Jax's tell Alan they have a proposal for him. Allan says he’s not
interested. Ned tells his it affects AJ. [Interestingly enough, the Jax's make
their pitch standing as the true couples, not the marrieds. If Alan will marry
Gertrude, Ned promises he will not return to ELQ and AJ will get to keep his
job. Alan again says he’s not interested in marrying Gertrude. Allan threatens
to go tell Gertrude, but doesn’t because Lila would be devastated if Chloe
lost her company. Allan leaves. Jax comes over to greet Lila. Lila says he’s
happy to have both Jax and Sonny at the party; each takes her hand. Edward tries
to shoo them away from Lila. Carly finally arrives. Carly makes her entrance by
whistling loudly at the top of the stairs. She walks down yelling “Yo! Listen
up everybody, glad you could make it. Anybody asks, I’m Mrs. AJ
Quartermaine.” She is dressed in a black crop-top sweater, a light blue sequin
very mini-skirt, and boots that come to just above her knees. The Q’s are
mortified; Sonny tries to hide his amusement. Carly blows AJ a kiss, then blows
a bubble with her gum.
Ned and Chloe tell Monica their plan and at first, she is shocked, but then
she starts to really consider it. Monica is considering Neds' plan. Alan is
saying there has to be better way of supporting Aj then breaking up our
marriage. Chloe says think of it as a way for everyone to get what they want.
Suddenly Monica asks why do you need us? You're already "happily
married" to Ned. Gertude can't get your company. They come up with a flimsy
excuse of how tired they are of being followed and just want to be left alone.
They leave.
Chloe setting the mood in a lodge. Jax comes in. He teases her about the
bearskin rug incident…they end up kissing. Then she says she brought her
"specialty" -- s'mores. Yet again, she's managed to remind him of
Brenda. He shares the story of Brenda and s'mores (it's all she knew how to cook
in house when she first moved into her house). He also says he can't hold every
experience with Brenda sacred, or he'd never get to live life… She's eating
the s'mores and he asks whether she's using milk Chocolate or semi-sweet. She
prompts him to taste for himself….from her mouth! He carries her to bed and
they make love.Chloe talks some about her past, her father and mother, which is
actually fairly interesting. She has a playboy father and a mother who loved a
man who couldn’t love her back.
Helena interrupts dinner between Jax & Chloe in order to propose
...business ties to Jax. They banter, Jax vs. Helena is quite good, as Jax warns
her away from Alexis. Helena flirts outright with him. Back at the Grill, Stefan
tells Alexis he needs her help. She tells him she hasn't seen much of Luke
lately and suggests he ask Laura about Luke's connections to Faison Stefan
worries that Laura may be a target. He wants to unravel Helena's plot before
it's too late. Alexis says if she knew anything, she'd tell, and if she hears
anything she'll let him know. She also makes it clear that she is quite happy
with her life now and is loved by her friends. She won't give that up. Stefan
wants her back but understands her desire to have a clean break from the family.
She wishes him good luck and goes.
Jax was on the telephone at home when Alexis walked in. He told her about his
plan to get a quick divorce in the Dominican Republic, and they joked about it a
bit, but she was not especially enthusiastic at the prospect and, after he left,
looked as though she were thinking it over. There was a knock at the door and it
was Chloe, wanting to talk things over with Alexis. She explained that she
wasn't sure the timing was right for her and Jax; she'd met all sorts of men
like him in Europe and knew never to take them seriously, but here she was,
getting serious, and it scared her. Alexis said that they had something in
common - Fear of Intimacy - and Chloe countered that she didn't think Alexis was
afraid of anything. Alexis laughed that off, explaining that it was just an act,
and counseled Chloe to trust herself, be brave, and take advantage of every
moment. Later, Chloe put Alexis' words into action. Jax was once again on the
telephone when Chloe entered. They kissed, and she explained that she had
cleared her appointment calendar to spend time with him even though she was
feeling somewhat overwhelmed and scared. He reassured her that he wasn't going
anywhere, and they kissed some more.
Ned and AJ met in the hotel bar and proceeded to poke and snipe at one
another about ELQ and Carly until AJ pulled his trump card: he's produced the
Quartermaine heir, and with Jason gone is irreplaceable. Ned said that rather
he's delusional, that messing up is his only true gift, and they went around
some more with AJ suggesting that perhaps Ned is threatened. AJ left and later
Alexis joined Ned at the table, asking why he seems so miserable. Ned explained
that with Jason gone, AJ is the heir apparent, and while ordinarily he would be
"waiting gleefully for the ELQ stock to plunge, and for AJ to prove his
cluelessness and earn Edward's eternal disdain", this time he can't - while
AJ may be clueless, Carly is anything but. Alexis pointed out that Carly doesn't
even like AJ, but Ned explained that while that may be true, she does want him
to succeed and she'll "strategize and manipulate until AJ shines". Ned
suggested that perhaps he should go to Edward and get his old ELQ job back, but
Alexis pointed out that "what you're feeling inside, that combination of
rage and despair, is what ELQ does to Quartermaines - it eats its young",
and that's why Ned shouldn't go back. Ned asked what he would do without her,
and they picked up the wine and glasses and headed for Alexis' room.
Chloe comes for a dinner at the Grill with Ned wondering why he called her
there. Ned tells her that they have to keep up appearances since she's been out
in public so much with Jax. Jax joins them and Ned torments him with kissing and
fawning all over Chloe. All Jax wants to do is be alone with Chloe which he
makes very clear. When Chloe excuses herself to go call Milan, Ned and Jax
discuss why they didn't marry the women they truly love. Ned was afraid of
having his heart broken like it was with Lois. Jax's love with Chloe had to
grow, and he was worried that everyone was watching to see who would replace
Brenda. One thing he learned from Brenda's death is to not waste one moment of
your life. Chloe comes back at this minute and asks if she missed anything.
Ned is on the phone at L&B, it appears that his distribution deal
hasfallen through due to some pressure. Chloe is sympathetic but worries that
he’s advanced a lot of artists assuming the deal would go through. Ned
comments that ifL&B goes under, Chloe and Jax can stop pretending… Jax is
walking through the park and hears a scream. Hannah’s tried to teach herself
to ice skate, and isn’t having much luck. He helps her up and reties her
skates and offers her a lesson. They share a bit about how some days just
getting up in the morning is pretty tough and talk about coping. Chloe offers to
cancel her afternoon plans with Jax to help Ned gang up on the distributor. He
says not to worry, he loves what he’s doing and reassures her. He sends her
off to meet Jax, and picks up the phone. He calls George to tell him the deal
fell through. He asks who did it and isn’t at all surprised by the answer. Ned
is waiting in the den while Edward comes in. Ned lets him know it would be a big
mistake to mess with him. Edward flat-out says he’ll destroy Ned. Ned points
out that this will NOT make him want to work with Edward. Monica comes in after
Edward storms out, and reminds Ned of his promise to stay away. He tells her not
to worry. He used to have AJ’s job, and remember, he didn’t like it. He
finally found something more important than profit margins, and he’s truly
happy. She sees that he’s happy. Alan comes in, and Ned baits him a
bit…Monica insists that any woman would fall in love with Alan. He leaves.
Chloe glows in Kelly’s and Tammy guesses she has a “hot date”. Felicia
comes in and they have a long talk about love and marriage. Felicia is still
struggling with Luke vs. Mac. Chloe’s advice is to talk to Mac and work it
out. Felicia gives her directions to the pond where her romantic afternoon is
going to be. She warns her it’s off in the middle of nowhere. Chloe comments
that her date is trained in wilderness survival. Chloe reminds her she’s
always there if Felicia needs to talk. They hug and Chloe goes. After she’s
gone, Felicia comments to Tammy that she didn’t know Ned was trained in
“wilderness survival”.
Back to the Ice Skating Lesson… Hannah asks Jax how like Brenda she is. She
thinks maybe Sonny was using her as a substitute and didn’t really love her.
She obsesses a bit, and Jax finally says he doesn’t know if Sonny was using
her and Brenda was irreplaceable. But then again, Sonny is pretty foolish… She
asks whether he tried a substitute… he says no, but he’s found someone
pretty great now. After a few other scenes, she thanks him for trying to warn
her off of Sonny…she starts blaming herself for everything that went wrong.
Jax tries to tell her not to blame herself, but to be gratefushe’s away from
him. He says she DOES sound like Brenda, and he seems miffed about it. He tries
to tell her she’s strong and doesn’t need Sonny. She seems confident and
decides to skate on her own. Chloe walks up just in time to see Hannah fall and
land in Jax’s arms while theylaugh. Jax helped Hannah not fall a little while
longer and as they shared a laugh when she fell and he caught her, Chloe turned
to leave. Jax called after her and she came over to talk to them. Hannah
explained about Jax helping her with her skating and Chloe pretended to be
looking for Ned. She left and Jax took Hannah around one more time, then walked
her back to town.
Gertrude came into PC Grille and Alan acted pleasantly surprised to see her
and suggested they eat together. She was all a flutter at the idea. Alan told
her that Monica was trying to take over as chief of staff and that she never
allowed him to be a man. Gertrude was sympathetic and said some women liked to
keep their men down to feel more powerful. Alan confided that Monica was a
tyrant and was so competitive with him that it was unbearable, that he only
stayed with her for the children. Gertrude told him that the children are grown
and he should look for a woman who made him her first priority. Just then,
Edward walked in. He tried to ward Alan off of Gertrude by diverting him with a
false meeting, but Alan was having nothing of it. When he tried to join them,
Gertrude declined and told him that she and Alan were discussing a medical
problem of a personal nature. Edward reminded Alan that Monica often came there
for lunch and then excused himself.
Alexis and Ned pretended to have a business meeting and watched Alan's lunch
with Gertrude. As they watched Alan charm her, Alexis said that she felt guilty
coercing Alan into marrying Gertrude. Ned balked and said it was the least he
could do since Ned had married Katherine to keep Alan out of jail. Alexis
mentioned how tedious the "business" meetings were getting and Ned
assured her it would all be over soon. He suggested that they leave separately,
so they said good-bye and as soon as Ned left, Helena sat down in front of
Alexis. She demanded that Alexis tell her what she knew and Alexis bluffed that
she knew her every dirty little secret and was not afraid of her any more.
Helena said thatshe must not know how she did business, then.
At L&B, Chloe was happy when Jax arrived. He surprised her with hot
chocolate to replace the ones that got cold when they had planned to go skating.
He apologized that their hike in the woods hadn't worked out. She said she
didn't know he and Hannah were friends and he said Hannah was just going through
a hard time. Jax asked her if she was jealous and she said she wasn't...just
because her heart stopped when she saw him with his arms around her and there
was a big picture of Hannah on the floor with an X on it. Chloe wondered what
was happening to her. Jax assured her that however crazy she was feeling, that
he was right along there with her. They talked about how they felt about one
another and Jax told her that it would be over as soon as Alan married Gertrude.
Helena makes a visit to L&B supposedly to discuss Nikolas. Alexis maintains
that she knows more than she actually does about Helena’s doings. Helena is
completely believeing her. Alexis throws daggers at Helena and Helena throws
threats back – then comes Ned to the rescue. Family isn’t everything, Jax
and I will get you where it hurts the most. Helena leaves but not before
tellling Alexis she is toast. Alexis and Ned talk about Helena’s threats, Ned
thinks they should be taken seriously. Alexis calls Ned her night in shining
armor. Then in walks Jr. to gloat about Grandfather’s doings with the
distribution deal – offers Ned a loan. Alexis comes to the rescue, the only
reason you’re sitting in that corner office is because of Michael, you don’t
want to see Ned fail with L&B because he would then return to ELQ and take
it back. AJ leaves all smug with himself. Hugs and Kisses – families!
Helena telling Andreas that the obstacle of Alexis must be removed today.
Andreas points out that Alexis might not know about Lucky Spencer, but Helena
wants to go along with her plans anyways, and is disappointed that Andreas seems
squeamish. Chloe and Jax are in their lovers nest and talking about how soon
they can be together showing the world how they feel. Jax talks about this cabin
in Alaska where they could be completely alone, touching stars.
Jax and Chloe are coming back from their romantic interlude kissing and such.
She's going across the street to the bakery to get pastries for Ned and her heel
breaks off. She laughingly shows Jax. As she crossed the street she is run down
by Helena in her car, (who thinks it's Alexis. Jax runs in the road shouting her
name and call 911.
Chloe was rushed to GH in critical condition. Jax was unable to reach Ned. He
told Taggert that the car never attempted to stop, leading Dara to suspect the
accident was not an accident after all.
Ned and Alexis are preparing to make love while Jax is with Chloe at the
hospital. Monica wants to know if Jax has reached Ned. He has not. Monica tells
Jax how serious Chloe’s injuries are. She will be going into surgery soon.
Tony lets Jax go sit with her. Jax begs Chloe not to leave him. Chloe is taken
into surgery. Jax calls Alexis’s cell phone. Alexis answers and he tells her
what happened. Ned and Alexis arrive at the hospital. Jax tells them about her
injuries and that she is in surgery. They ask and he tells them what happened.
Dara and Taggart arrive and tell Ned they have no leads, but think it might have
been intentional. They ask if Ned knows anyone who might have wanted to kill
Chloe. Alexis tries not to look agonized. Dara and Taggart tell them that
there’s not much evidence. Dara and Taggart begin questioning Ned about
whether Chloe want supposed to meet anyone that night. Alexis tries to get Dara
and Taggart to back off. Ned finally gets them to leave. Alexis wonders if the
hit and run was really meant for her. Chloe was dressed like her after all. She
tells the guys how she has provoked Helena. Ned and Jax try to tell her not to
feel guilty. Monica arrives to tell them the surgery went well. Alexis and Jax
peer at Chloe through the glass wall of her room. Ned comes in and says he saw
Felicia downstairs but sent her home. The nurse says they can see Chloe. Ned
gestures for Jax to go first. Jax begs her again not to leave him.
Jax is sitting by Chloe's side telling her all his wonderful stories when
Gertrude walks into the doorway. Jax doesn't see her but she hears all. Chloe
regained conciousness and called out for Jax. He of course was there and went to
her side. She realizes that she can't see. Meanwhile, Alexis and Ned go to
Taggert to tell him they know who did it. Helana!!!! Taggert asks why? When
Alexis hands him the bag with Chloe's stuff Alexis tells Taggert that she let
Chloe wear her coat. Taggert takes the bag and says he is willing to check it
out.
