#5 Jason is wandering around the docks by Kelly's.
He notices Emily sitting on a bench. He sits down with her, and
they make small talk at first. He notices Emily is cold, and wraps
her in his leather jacket. She tells him things have been bad at
the house, and he tells her he was there and heard Alan and Monica
arguing. It doesn't bother him. "I knew you wouldn't
care; I just wish I didn't care so much," replies Emily. She
begins to cry, and Jason puts an arm around her and draws her head onto
his shoulder. Emily has stopped crying and is telling him about
the photo of Lois's baby. She thinks Lois will make a good Mom;
Jason guesses so, but doesn't know much about it. Emily remarks
that Monica tries to be a good mother, and tells him about Monica's
promise to Page. Emily worries that Monica might die too; Jason
asks why. Emily begins to explain about follow-up check-ups for breast
cancer patients, and Jason discovers that he knows a fair amount about
the subject. He supposes that Jason Quartermaine must have learned
everything he could. Emily explains that Monica cancelled her
check-up. She had hoped the phone call to Alan would help, but if
Alan & Monica were fighting, that probably means she failed.
She's scared. Jason doesn't know how to help her. Emily:
"I have to learn not to care so much." Jason offers her
a motorcycle ride home; Emily is happy to accept. She tells Jason
he is a "nice guy."
At the Q mansion, AJ and Emily wait for Monica. Neither knows what
Monica wants to talk to them about but are worried that it has something
to do with Monica's cancer checkup. When Monica arrives, he tells them
it went OK and she's healthy, then Alan arrives and they announce that
they're back together and Alan is moving back to the mansion. AJ
makes a snide remark about their reconciliation, saying there will be no
more arguing or fighting...until next time, and Emily gets bent out of
shape over it. Sally the maid announces a visitor, who Monica
assumes is Dorman. She goes to tell him off and then sees it's
Jason. Jason says he's there to see Emily and inquires about
Monica's checkup, she tells him she's fine and that Alan has moved back
home. Jason tells her he didn't know she had cancer and says it's
good that she's all right. AJ comes in and Monica goes back to the
living room. AJ and Jason exchange words about how happy Monica
was to see him; Jason tells him that no matter how happy she may be, he
can't be what she really wants, then he leaves.
THANKSGIVING Dream Episode - Edward is relaxing and Alan, Monica and
Emily come in with some wood for the fireplace. It's nice and
nippy and and crisp and wonderful. They stick the wood in the
fireplace. Alan says: "I can't wait for it to start snowing.
I just want to go sledding so badly!" They stand in front of
the fireplace hugging and Edward says, snidely, "Let me guess.
The Waltons! Very good. You keep this up all through dinner
and you will make Lila very happy." Emily hopes they won't
have pizza again. "Mercy, no!" Monica says.
"Bite your tongue!" adds Alan. "It's going to be a
traditional, old-fashioned Thanksgiving." "Not so
fast!" interrrupts Reginald. "Sonny Corinthos." The
violins play. Sonny says, "Tell me something, Reginald.
What is it I do that makes you so nervous all the time?"
"Uh, I don't know, breathe maybe?" "Nonsense,"
beams Alan, "Sonny's a PAL. An Invited Guest come to spend
the holiday with us." Monica chirps up "And we COULDn't
be more pleased!" Sonny tells Reginald: "I've always
been a believer in live and let live. I never saw any reason
why we all just can't be friends." He puts his hand out for
Reginald to kiss. Edward is huffing about Sonny and that jax
character stealing his business and Sonny tells him not to take it
personally, he'll have himself another heart attack. Emily goes to
Sonny and hugs him. "How are you?" "So much
better now!" she responds. Justus bops on in.
"Hey! (to Sonny) My Main MAN!" He has all the deep
dark nasty secrets on Edward. Sonny is delighted to know that
Edward whacked Damian Smith! "I did no such thing!"
Sonny shows the file to the family. "Grandpa!"
"Edward!" "Father!" Ned comes in wearing
an Eastern monk's robe. "Oh, Ned!" exclaims Edward.
"Thank God you're here! This whole room has gone mad!
Although I shouldn't be surprised and I -- uh -- what the devil are you
wearing, Ned?" (Mysterious Asian music plays) "Ah.
Grandfather. That is precisely the point. The devil is no more.
All is peace. Harmony. Oneness in the universe. Now
that I've discovered my spiritual path." "Isn't that
Wonderful?" beams Alan. "GOOD for Ned!" enthuses Monica.
They applaud.Brenda and Jax come in, wishing everyone a happy
Thanksgiving. Jax and Sonny shake hands. "Yo, Sonny
BOY!" "Yeah, what's the word?"
"Thunderbird." "What's the price?"
"Eddie twice." Edward is blustery and baffled.
"ELQ has been taken over by cretins and imbeciles! Now, Ned,
you have to do something!" "I intend to," Ned
replies calmly. "Sonny, Jax, come to me, please. I propose we
donate all existing ELQ assets to various Bensonhurst charities and
start all over." They think this is a great idea.
Brenda remarks: "Jax and I should rummage through all these old
knickknacks and pick out some wedding gifts for ourselves, don't you
think?" Ned agrees. Brenda smiles at Jax: "Come
allong, my little blueberry muffin!" Jax: "Whatever you
say, sweetums." Alan says: "Perhaps now, Father, there'll be
room for me in a kinder,
gentler ELQ." Edward isn't going down without a fight:
"That'll be a cold day in Hell." Ned says, "The CEO
position is wide open. You and Justus can fight it out to your
heart's content." Justus says "Oh, no, please, please,
Alan you take it, I insist. I'm gonna work with Sonny on his end
of things." Edward blusters "No no no, now this is
unthinkable for you to betray me like this!" Justus says:
"EDWARD! I'm struggling with my identity! Today -- I'm
the Rebel in the family!" Reginald comes bouncing in:
"They're here!" The family all assumes their positions.
It's President and Mrs. A.J. Quartermaine. Keesha is
in pillbox hat and Chanel suit, very Kennedy-esque. ("Ruffles and
Flourishes" plays.) "My Fellow Americans: One thing that
you can be certain of is that A.J. Quartermaine likes his sweet potatoes
-- with plenty of marshmallows." Edward shouts:
"This is a NIGHTMARE!" and they chorus: "SHUT UP,
EDWARD!" Lila wheels in. "Good news, everyone, good
news! I just spoke to Tracy. She's coming home, and she's
bringing Dylan with her!"
Edward covers his eyes. Lila dimples at A.J: "Nice to
see you, Mr. President." Jason drives his motorcycle into the
room. Lila hopes he'll stay for dinner. "Oh,
grandmother, I can't. I've only got enough time to rip off a few
candlesticks and meet up with my buds at the tattoo parlor."
At this, Emily lights up. "Oh, Alan, can I go, PLEEEEASE.
I've been dying to get 'Quartermaines rule' tattooed on my thigh!"
Alan beams: "Of course you can, my precious girl!"
Edward asks: "Have you all gone stark staring mad?" He
tells Emily that she's not setting one foot out of the house with that
hoodlem. Emily sweet-talks him: "Ah, Edward, I would rethink
that position. You see, Justus and Sonny have taught me to use
surveillance equipment and I've taped all your private conversations.
If I don't get my way, I'll turn them all over to Dara Jensen."
Monica says, "I'm so proud of you, Emily!" Alan agrees:
"A True Quartermaine at last!" Keesha informs them that
the CIA has checked into Edward's background. It turns out he has
another illegitimate son. That's enough for Lila: "That's IT!
Dominican Republic, here I come!" Sonny grins at Edward:
"Hey-ya Pops, how's it going?" "Oh, goodie,"
says Prince Charming. "I've always wanted another
brother! jimmie Lee Holt never made it for me! Sonny!
My bro!" They hug. Monica was having so much fun she forgot
to give Edward his medical results. It's Good News! He needs
surgery right away! "What for?" "It doesn't
matter." Alan's hand is all fixed and he's ready. Alan
puts his claw up: "Gee, Monica, ya think?" He hopes he
remembers how to do surgery. "It's like falling off a
bike," Jason comments. Alan has a bright idea: "You (to
Jason) used to be premed, would you like to assist? What do you
think?" "I don't know. Sonny? What do I
think?" Sonny thinks it'd be great, and Justus agrees that
"having a henchman with surgical skills could prove
invaluable." "Cool," Jason enthuses. They gather
around Edward. He mumbles and mutters. He's asleep in the chair
with Reginald and Lila watching him. Reginald asks: "You
think we should wake him?" Lila thinks "might as well
let him sleep while he can." Edward wakes up with Lila watching.
Ned comes in: "Happy Thanksgiving." The family comes in.
Ned asks Emily if she's happy about her parents' reconciliation.
She changes the subject. Justus and Keesha come in, and AJ starts
to talk business till Keesha stops him. Reginald announces that
Cook has resigned. Someone sullied her kitchen by making a peanut
butter and jelly sandwich. "I was HUNGRY, OK?" A.J.
sputters. The turkey is still half-frozen. Alan says,
"Well, I think we know what that means!" Ned says
"Make mine pepperoni!" They start to sing while Reginald
tries to place the order. Reginald finally says "You do this
every year!"
Emily arrives downstairs for breakfast, complete with new goth look,
funky hair and tons of eye makeup. Edward is appalled. She also has
acquired an Attitude and is snarky right back. They remind her of
what the family is dealing with, and Monica tells her she looks much
better with no makeup at all. Emily says that Blair Bixler called and
asked her if it was true about the charges and she hung up on her. They
offer to take her to school, and she says perkily that she will walk.
Monica worries that she is taking this too well.
Dorman and Nurse are walking around discussing a patient's
file. Emily approaches in New Teen Look. She's looking for Nikolas.
Dorman converses with her, and she's cocky and dismissive of him. Alan
approaches and they get into it. Alan asks why he feels he has to
destroy Monica's reputation. "Whose reputation are you really
concerned about, Alan? Monica's? Or yours in the sack?" Alan
bristles, and roomie and I agree that Dorman will soon be added to
Alan's murder victim list. Alexis and Monica come up to him as
Alan's eyes light up with rage and Dorman leaves. Alexis advises both of
them to have some self control. "That WAS self-control,"
Alan growls through clenched teeth.
The Q's question Emily about school and how everything is going. She
tells them everything is just fine. Justus arrives at the mansion and
tells Monica, Alan, Edward, and Ned that Laura Spencer is dead from a
presumed gas leak explosion at a house in Rochester. The Q's are shocked
by the news. When Emily hears, she immediately calls Luckyand tells him
she understands what he is going through and would like to come over and
be with him. He thanks her for her concern but tells her he has to help
out with caring for LuLu and that it just isn't a good time. He hangs up
abruptly. Emily makes another phone call in private to meet with an
unknown, and leaves the house. Em shows up at the Spencer's. Emily
physically reels back wehn Lucky tells her that he is leaving PC.
Devastated she walks out. Luke comes downstairs, and Lucky (with tears
in his eyes) tells Luke its wrong that he is lying to Em. He feels awful
about it. Em calls Matt, the drug dealing guy and they later meet. She
says she wants to take him up on his offer not to feel anything.
Laura's funeral (from the primetime Twist of Fate episode) - Luke spoke
to the mourners gathered around Laura's grave. He turned the solemn
occasion into an anti-Cassidine tirade but eventually Tony got him to
stop.
Ned sees Emily sitting out on the porch. "When they find you
frozen stiff out here, Grandmother's going to be very upset."
He asks if it's a "non-verbal protest, or were you trying to get
some fresh air?" She says it's both. She remembers that
Jason used to sit outside like that. "It's not the family,
Ned, it's me. I can't stop thinking things, like Lucky. I don't
know where he is -- I want to call him or talk to him -- write him -- do
something. I can't." Ned certainly understands this. He tells
her to "try to distract yourself. Get through every day and
pretty soon it will hurt less." "When?" "I
don't know."
Tony and Justus go out on the terrace, where Emily and her little
druggie friend are hanging out. Justus asks if they could leave
because they have important things to discuss.
At the Quartermaines, Monica says she needs to start her Christmas cards
earlier next year. AJ suggests a letter: Dear Friends,
Wow, what a year. Jason changed his name to Morgan and went to
work for crime boss Sonny Corinthos. Tracy tried to steal ELQ out from
under us. Oh yeah, and Lois left Ned so that her baby wouldn't
turn out to be a Quartermaine. Hope your family's doing well too.
Lots of love, etc, etc. Monica is not amused but Justus thinks itŐs
appropriate. Alan comes over and introduces himself to Emily's
little druggie friend, who doesn't introduce himself. Alan comes
over and offers to play Johnny Mathis Christmas carols. Emily is
thoroughly embarrassed and asks if Matt can see her room. Monica
says he probably has to go home to his family, to which he responds that
he goes home whenever he wants. He and Emily leave the room.
Monica and Alan don't quite know what they did.
At the Quartemaine's, the family gets a distress call from the hospital
asking them to chip in for the party with a tree and decorations. All
the Q's agree to comply and head for the tree lot. Sonny gives Edward a
hard time and charges him $5000 for the tree. Christmas party at
GH, Tony plays Santa and Alan reads the Christmas story. Music montage
as Ned sings "I'll Be Home for Christmas".
Emily is less-than-delighted with her gift from Lila, something a Proper
Young Lady would wear. Monica offers to help Emily return it.
Monica offers to go with her, but Em blows her off. Monica sees the
present Emily had gotten for Lucky, which Emily was also going to
return. Monica encourages Em to hold onto her gift for Lucky as she
might hear from him. Em just rolls her eyes. At this point, Alexis
and Kevin come in. Monica introduces Em to Alexis (Monica's attorney in
the Dr. Dorman sexual harrassment case). Emily leaves, but lingers to
eavesdrop on the conversation, which is Kevin questioning Monica about
personal details of her relationship with Dorman. Dorman, Monica
asserts, was the first rat to desert General Hospital when it got into
trouble. She admits that Pierce loved control. (Em is rolling her
eyes as she listens to Monica describe her sexual relationship with
Dorman). Eventually the questioning gets too uncomfortable for Monica,
and she breaks it off.
Emily is with Matt, and gives him the present she'd gotten for Lucky.
He may be in the mood to open it later. He offers her a toke of
his "fatboy." She doesn't take drugs: "I don't
think that's the sort of thing a ProperYoung Lady [sarcastic: mimicking
Monica mimicking Lila] would do." "You'd be surprised,"
Matt says. Emily remembers the earful she got earlier while
eavesdropping on the "Proper Lady", and says "No I
wouldn't." She tries it and coughs and sputters. Matt
claims it gets easier, and all your troubles disappear.
Emily shows up at the hospital and runs into Nikolas. She tells him she
is looking for Monica and even though she is getting on her nerves
lately, she is there to help. Nikolas notices that Emily doesn't seem
all there and confronts her....she tells him she just had a
"hit" and has more left if he is interested. Just then, Pierce
shows up and Emily tells him to stay away from her mother since everyone
is on her side anyways including Kevin who was at their house this
morning. Nikolas sees Monica coming and takes Emily out of sight before
her mother sees her stoned. He leads her to the Cassadine limo
which is parked outside GH and tells the driver to take her home. He
tells Emily to get rid of the drugs and that it is probably best if she
not say anything more to Pierce. In the underground parking garage
at GH, Monica approaches her car, as Pierce approaches her and tells her
he knows of her little plan with Kevin and that it will indeed cost her.
He threathens to put Emily on the witness stand. Alan arrived and
publicly threatened to kill Dorman if he ever came near his family
again. Later, Alan and Monica realized the gulf that existed between
them and Emily. Emily developed a crush on Nikolas.
The Q's have a New Year's Eve party. Em approaches Alexis and asks
questions about Nik. Reggie comments about the young man in the
driveway, Em rushes out when she realizes it is Nik. Nik is outside
waiting for Alexis who stopped by to talk about Dorman legal business.
Monica drags Emily back inside because the girl has no coat on,
embarrassing her completely. Emily comes back outside and rejoins Nik by
the car. They both stare out into the night. Music montage to "They
Way You Look Tonight" as midnight strikes.
At GH, Monica shakily prepares to take Emily to lunch in memory of
Paige's birthday. Monica presents Emily with a special gift from her
late mother. It didn't seem to make Emily happy, though. She ran into
Dorman again, and he was ugly to her; Emily was rescued by Alexis who
told Pierce to back off. Em sits on a park bench and stares at a picture
of Paige (its her biological mother's birthday). Emily brooded over
Paige's birthday.
Emily's Creepy Drug Friend pockets a fine cut-class bottle of the
Q's liquor. Emily hides him behind a chair, and when Monica and
Alan enter arguing, the kids sneak away unseen. Emily sneaks him into
her room at the Quartermaine mansion while the rest of the clan
gathers downstairs for a family meeting. Matt says his family is all
touchy-feely 90's, concerned about each other's "feelings."
He pulls out a joint, and Emily blows away the smoke, saying it's too
early. He says his parents don't care, and buy/give him
everything. He turns on her stereo loud so Emily has to yell over
it. He drinks straight from the bottle, while Emily protests.
He asks why the Q's have liquor out and how much they drink. He says
drinking is something friends do, and encourages Emily to try it.
She recoils from the smell. She drinks too much and gets sick.
Alan and Monica go into Emily's room. Alan turns down the blaring
stereo as Emily comes out of the bathroom. The smell of perfume is
overwhelming, and Emily explains that she spilled the bottle. The
boy she was with is hiding under the bed and the almost empty
bottle of alcohol sits on the floor near the edge of the bed. Alan and
Monica notice that Emily does not look well. As Emily walks to the
bed to sit down, she pushes the bottle under the bed with her foot.
Monica tells her that she can talk to them is something is bothering
her. She says it's just a stomach ache. As Alan moves away
from the bed, Monica tells Emily she can fool Alan, but not her.
Emily then says it's cramps. Monica suggests she lay down, and she
and Alan leave.
At the PC Grille, AJ and Keesha come in and embarrass Emily. Matt,
who is Emily's guest, doesn't believe Keesha could actually want to be a
cop. Emily sees Nik and Alexis come in and Edward invites them
over to the table. Alan and Monica come in, and Edward wants a
toast. "Champagne for everyone!" After they discuss how
many of the kids are underage, Alan decides to toast with the water
glass: "To Emily. We are so lucky to have you in our family.
You are a source of joy
and pride. Happy birthday." Dorman comes in.
Alexis tries to stop Alan from confronting him, but to no avail.
Dorman professes surprise. Alan returns to the table and Edward says
"Nice going, Alan!" Alan says "Oh, stick a sock in
it, Father!" They decide to leave. Matt palms off a joint to Emily,
who tells Monica off for ever sleeping with Dorman and storms off.
Alan goes after her.
Monica apologizes to Em for the disruption of her birthday dinner. She
tells Em that she can have a party at the house. Em later tells Matt
this as she rolls her eyeballs "as if". He wants to smoke a
joint and she snarks, "Is that all you ever want to do?" They
leave when Alan & Monica enter the room, they can't get out of there
fast enough. AJ overhears Alan & Monica lament the loss of Jason.
Later, Em watches as AJ starts drinking again.
The day of Monica's trial starting, Alan asks why Emily isn't in school,
and she claims to have a sore throat. Alan, however, is a doctor,
and doesn't see anything. Since the trial could go on for weeks,
Emily can't skip school. A.J. offers to drive her. They stop at
the Outback. He tells her he knows what school is like.
Emily is dubious: "We should lie, ditch, and eat ice cream?"
She asks why a bar. A.J., in deep denial, claims to have worked
through all the AA stuff, and a drink or two occasionally doesn't hurt.
Emily leaves and says she will walk to school but instead heads the
courtroom.
Emily plays hooky from school and sneaks into the back of the
courtroom as Pierce takes the stand to describe how his affair
with Monica began. Disgusted by the doctor's testimony, Monica
leaps from her chair but is quickly surrounded by flashing cameras
as the news media closes in. Matt sneaks into the Quartermaine mansion
to rendezvous with Emily after she cuts school to avoid the jeers of her
classmates. Matt urges Emily to drown her sorrows in booze and deaden
her feelings with dope. Emily and Lois had a nice girl chat, where
Lois encouraged Em to, more or less, keep her head on straight. Matt
takes advantage of Emily's absence to snoop through her diary.
Matt and Emily watch the live televised coverage of Monica's trial as
they lounge around the Quartermaine mansion. Emily and Matt are hanging
out watching the trial on TV. Matt thinks it's cool. He
wonders who the surprise witness is, and Emily points out that he
shouldn't be treating her life like a soap opera. Matt is fascinated,
and Emily claims not to care. As Ned reluctantly takes the witness
stand, a wary Alexis asks her client if she knows why her nephew was
subpoenaed. Lucky phones the mansion in hopes of making amends with
Emily but is disappointed when his former friend shows no enthusiasm for
taking up where they left off. After forcing the witness to admit that
he was employed under a pseudonym, Dorman's attorney asks Ned if he ever
had sexual relations with his aunt while she was a guest at the spa. As
the courtroom spectators buzz in shock, Lois arrives with baby Brooke
and is stunned to hear her chagrined husband confess that he slept with
Monica. Emily looks thunderstruck, but since we know she already
knew about this, it must be her realization of the hell school's going
to be for her. Matt is almost comforting. Emily and Matt get
stoned.
When a worried Monica phones home, Emily claims she didn't watch any of
the testimony on Court TV. Later, suffering from an attack of the
post-marijuana munchies, Emily and Matt scarf down the chocolates Alan
bought for his wife's Valentine's gift. When Alan and Monica
returned home they ran Matt off so Monica could apologized. Matt
phoned and he and Emily planned to indulge themselves in a smorgasbord
of illegal substances. Relieved to think that her nightmare of a trial
is nearly over, Monica assures Emily there are no more skeletons poised
to come tumbling out of the closet. Monica tries to explain things to
Emily, but Emily does the who cares anyway routine. Complaining of a
sick headache, Emily asks Monica to write her a note excusing her
from class for another day. When Monica leaves for court, Emily promptly
calls Matt. Emily steals money from her father's wallet to buy
dope from Matt.
At the courthouse, Pierce smirks in triumph as the judge delivers a
guilty verdict against Monica. While Alexis hastily assures her client
that they will appeal, Monica is ordered to pay Dr. Dorman five hundred
thousand dollars. Back home at the Quartermaine mansion, Monica, Alan,
Ned, AJ, and Edward are in the living room and Monica is feeling rather
humiliated. Alan says "The only thing that's going to keep Dorman
out of Monica's face is homicide." Emily is there, acting blase,
and several sexual jokes are cracked about Dorman, Emily holds her own,
and the adults are shocked. Emily gets out of there as well under the
guise of going to see some friend about something.
Monica grows frantic after discovering that Emily's bed has not been
slept in. Matt and Emily wake up in the park and realize that their weed
and booze binge kept them out all night. A frantic Alan and Monica
learned from Emily that she had been in the park all night with Matt.
Emily assured Alan and Monica that nothing sexual had happened. After
apologizing to her parents for scaring them, Emily quietly informs Matt
that she never wants to party with him again.
3/10/97 Amber does a drug prevention PSA
Emily sitting on the couch emitting some serious teen attitude while
braiding her hair. Alan and Monica say something parental to her
and she remarks that "their real kids" weren't there, but she
was. Then when they comment on the "real kid" remark,
she gets peeved for being considered a child and says that everyone
should realize she's a grown like AJ does, and stomps out of the room.
At the boathouse, Emily tells A.J. she's aware that he's been hitting
the bottle. In the boathouse, A.J. is shaving. Emily drops
in with a thermos of tomato juice. Emily comments: "You said
you could handle the alcohol." "I was wrong." AJ had told
Emily that he was through with the booze. It's over. It was
the lies, not the liquor. Jason came in and Emily left.
Ned comes in and Keesha tells him she will never forgive him (for
covering up that AJ was driving the night of the accident). She
tells Ned off at the top of her lungs. Naturally, Monica comes in.
Keesha claims the disagreement is because she can't stay in the same
room as Ned. Monica suggests that they stay apart. She
leaves, Keesha leaves, Ned sees Emily on the patio and asks how much she
heard. "I heard Keesha lie to Monica. She's going to be
like the rest of us." Ned tries to say that some lies are
necessary, and Emily points out the obvious, that it doesn't work.
Alan and Monica come in, Ned leaves, Emily asks to "go to the
library" and Alan offers the car. Emily wants to walk.
Monica tries to explain about the arguments, and Emily brushes her off
and calls Matt.
Emily is staring at her homework when Ned comes in, looking for Lila.
"Tea with Grandmother is calming. She's like an island in the
middle of the family. When you're with her you think maybe the
next bad thing won't happen." Ned asks if Emily just worries
about "the next bad thing."
Emily suffers humiliation at the hands of two catty classmates. They
make some snide comments about her druggie friend and ask "Was
everything in the newspaper true about your Mom?" Nik comes along.
He sympathizes with her about what it is like to always have your family
in the headlines. She tells him how alone she has been feeling. He
assures her that she can come to him anytime, that she isn't alone. She
cries, he reassures her. Emily is really grateful. Nikolas made
her feel special. He tells her she *is* special. She leans
in and kisses him! Its quite a kiss. He pulls away after a moment
(though it does look like he is returning her kiss) and tells her that
is not a good idea. She is VERY embarrased*. Caught off guard by Emily's
kiss, Nikolas pulls back from her desperate embrace. Though the
embarrassed girl offers profuse apologies for her inappropriate
behavior, Nikolas assures her he understands the impulse and advises
Emily not to worry about it. Fed up with her dysfunctional
adoptive family, Emily contemplates seeking escape through a
heroin-laced marijuana cigarette.
Emily is in the park with Matt. He gives her a joint laced with heroin.
Although she is momentarily reluctant, she tries it anyway. She's
completely wasted and starts hallucinating. Some other kids show up to
buy some dope from Matt. He tells them he has some great new stuff. It's
from some new guy who told him it's almost pure. The kids are thrilled
and proceed to get high also. After awhile, their lookout warns the kids
that someone is coming. They all run away, and in the process, Emily
loses her charm bracelet. Jason discovers Emily's charm bracelet
lying by thebench.
Unable to face the prospect of a family dinner at the Grille, Emily asks
Matt to provide her with another heroin laced joint. Explaining the
supply has recently dried up, Matt advises her to place her order
earlier next time. Emily insists she really needs it, and he
shrugs and tells her she should buy ahead. She assures him from now on
she will. As Matt dials his dealer, Dorman's beeper goes off.
Emily is writing in her journal about AJ and her own drug use.
Matt comes over, he wants to know when he can restore his supply.
He sees a copy of Emily's diary [so thats how Dorman found out
about Monica and Ned] and tells Dorman that he never thought he would
use the diary to hurt Emily's mom. Dorman calls him stupid,
threatens him and throws him out. Dorman calls the media to give them a
juicy scoop about the Q's.
Tenacious reporter Veronica Bowles was at the Q's front porch, pointing
a mic in AJ's face, and asking him to confirm that it was he who was
driving the night of Jason's brain-vegetating accident. Just as AJ was
about to confess, Ned stepped forward Ned: "...will speak for
himself." Ned made up some rap about how he will have to live with
the tragedy the rest of his life, etc., etc. and told Bowles that anyone
who claims any different is a liar. When Alan and Monica come to the
foyer to investigate the brou-ha-ha, AJ grabbed the mic and fessed up.
Interview over, Bowles left to file her report, and the family quarreled
over AJ's wisdom, or perceived lack of it. Throughout the arguments,
Alan and Ned led the charge against him.

DVD
#6 Emily lurked on the stairwell, then eventually in to defend AJ.
Suspicion got thrown around the room about who could have tipped off the
press, with no conlusions. More arguments and hand-wringing about AJ.
Emily reveals, "No one wants to feel that bad. It's not on
purpose." Emily is busy writing in her diary, quizzing
herself if she might have been the leak somehow, by telling Matt.
At the Quartermaine's, everyone is looking for A.J. Alan is
worried about Jason. Emily asks Monica if she's okay. Monica is
not. Sonny comes by to ask about Dorman, but Monica hustles him
out. Emily offers to call A.J., as he might pick up for her. Jason
goes in and calls his apartment, just as A.J. leaves it. He calls
Keesha. Edward blames Jason for telling Sonny. Jason tells
him "He's got more honor than you and Ned put together, so instead
of trying to blame him why don't you use some of that money trying to
FIND him!" The news comes on showing Veronica Bowles in fine
harry-the-Quartermaine style. Jason leaves to look for A.J.
They all wander off and Emily looks lost.
Ned phones to police to look out for AJ then plans to search himself.
Before he leaves, he talks briefly to a bleary-eyed Emily. Emily meets
with Matt and spins her tale of Quartermaine woe about AJ, then she hits
him up for a joint and a little "H". Matt and Emily party.
When he balks at giving her some of the stuff which has been sweetened
with PCP and heroin, she assures him it's okay. After smoking the laced
joint, she returns to the mansion, runs up the stairs yelling out that
she can fly. Ned and Jax in the living room, hear this and go upstairs
to investigate. Emily has climbed out onto the roof and informs a
horrified ned that she's going to fly like a bird. With Jax holding onto
one ankle so he won't slide off the roof, Ned crawls out towards Em,
begging her not to jump.
Ned is grasping after Emily, who almost falls off of the roof at the Q's
house. Jax is trying to hold on to Ned who tries to get Emily's hands
but she is fighting them and saying, " Why did you stop me, I was
trying to fly. I can fly". They struggle some more. Emily, Ned, Jax
and Reggie come down the stairs talking and tells Emily she's going to
the hospital. She puts up a fight, then Jason walks in and Emily says
she can't breathe and collapses in Jason's arms. Emily stops breathing
and Jason does CPR on her, while Jax calls the EMT"S. Jason revives
Emily, the EMT's arrive and take over, Reggie trys to page Monica and
Alan. Monica and Alan walk in the house and Reggie and Lila tells them
what happened to Emily. They looked shocked. Emily arrives at GH. Ned is
yelling to get a doctor, when Dorman walks in tell everyone to calm
down. Ned clearly states he wants Dorman out and get another doctor. Amy
tell him he is the only one on call at the moment. Ned relunctanly
let's Dorman attend to her and Amy pushes them out of the room for now.
Ned tells Jax thanks and talks to Jason on how he knew CPR. Dorman
talks with nurse while Jason and Ned looks on from the hallway.
At the house, Monica and Alan are in shock as they listen to what
happened with Emily. The door bell ring and it is Brenda. Reggie tells
in details what happened, how Emily was on the roof and that Ned andJax
got her down and that she collapses and Jason save her life. They look
in disbelief and shock. Everyone is so worried over AJ's drinking and
Monica's trial that know one was noticing Emily, until all this
happened. Emily just couldn't cope with it.
At the Hospital Jax and Ned are talking and Ned is freaking out about
not being there for Emily when she needed him. Jax tries to assure
him that it wasn't his fault and Ned thanks him. Alan and Monica
arrive in a rush and tells them they're running some tests right now,
but that she was taking drugs. Dorman then walks up and makes some
rude comments about Alan and Monica's parenting skills and when they
threaten to remove him he points out that he's the only doctor on duty
and that there are just some things even Q's can't fix. Jax pipes in
that he's not a Q and that if Dorman doesn't start behaving
professionally he'll take care of him. Monica starts ranting about how
could Emily be using heroin, why would she do this. She thanks Jax
for his help and he tells her that it was mostly Jason's doing.
Pan to Jason in front of Emily's room, he watches over her.
Dorman is taking Monica to task for being negligent and Jason comes to
the rescue. Jason slams Dorman up against the wall and loudly threathens
to blow his head off if he does anything to damage Emily's recovery.
Monica thanks him, he thinks for running Dorman off, but she clarifies
that she meant mostly for saving Emily. He tells her that HER SON saved
Emily because he learned CPR. Monica says that HE actually it was
Jason Morgan, that Emily needed him and he was there for her. Monica is
beating herself up for not seeing the signs of Emily's drug abuse.
"Not only is she a bad parent, but she couldn't even get her a
decent doctor." Alan just sits next to her looking distraught
while Monica retraces the warning signs that they ignored. She
prays for one more chance to be a good Mother to Paige's daughter.
Ned is at Emily's bedside and Amy kicks him out to run more tests on
her. Ned says he'll go find Alan and Monica. Alan and Monica are
with Emily when she starts to wake up. Dorman is trying to tell
them what to expect and they kick him out of the room. Emily wakes up
and when she apparently realizes what has happened she starts to cry.
Monica assures that everything is going to be fine.
Ned walks up, says to Jason that he was worried Emily would wake up like
he did, not remembering anyone. Then he says that she might be
better off if that was the case. Jason says that it's very hard not to
know anyone. Ned says that he feels so bad that even though he promised
not to let anyone down like he did Jason, he let Emily down, for the
good of the family. And he says, what good is a family that puts a
little girl in the hospital from doing heroin.
Sonny orders Jason to go home and rest. Ned tells Sonny how Jason's
heroics saved Emily's life. Just as Sonny ragged to Ned about Dorman
being Emily's doctor, entered Tony to take over Em's case. Emily, awake,
was distraught and embarrased. Monica and Alan attempted to comfort her
and apologize for being so oblivious to her problems and drug use. As
Alan pondered, "Who would sell drugs to a child," entered
Dorman who played at showing empathy for Emily, saying he doesn't blame
her for not wanting to talk, and told the Q's that they should save any
lectures. As Alan affirmed his purpose was to find where Emily got the
drugs, Tony walked in and, officially taking over the case, booted
Dorman from the room.
When the Qs tried to question Emily, she was vague, and when they asked
about Matt, Em covered for him. They reported back to Taggert with their
lack of findings, but gave him Matt's name as someone she'd been
spending a lot of time with. Dorman overheard, and got uptight. He tried
to reach Matt who wasn't home.
Back in Em's room, Monica, well into her guilt trip, flashed back to
Paige's death, until Emily woke up. They spoke about Paige a little bit,
Monica guilted about of letting Paige down, Emily tried to let her off
the hook, and the two hugged. Jason tells AJ about Emily's drug overdose. AJ showed up wanting to see
Emily, but the other Q's thought that a bad idea. Finally, Dorman caught
Matt on the phone, to tell him about his hot new product. I'll make the
drop in the usual place, he told Matt.
Luke tells Lucky about Emily. Lucky goes to phone the hospital who
tell Lucky that Em can't receive visitors. Mac enters Luke's and informs Sonny that Emily's connection (Matt) has
been found dead from an overdose. Matt Reynolds, age 14, was found
hidden in some brush behind a park bench, his bloodstream full of uncut
heroin. Ned introduced the Q's to Alice Dalton, Emily's new counselor, who
warned them she planned on treating the whole family, not just Em. Em
was receiving a visit from Jason. She told him a little of her woes, being careful to protect the guilty (Matt). She
told him that when she woke
up in ER and saw Dorman, she was sure she was being punished.
Emily tells a visiting Tony and Bobbie that she's not looking forward to
returning to the Q house, but would like to see Matt. Tony and Bobbie
look uneasy and attempt some pepping. Tony gives a small speech on the
dangers of heroin, and tells Em how important she is to Alan and Monica;
he knows first hand what it's like to lose a daughter.
Outside her room, the Q's and Alice are having a pow-wow. Alan commands
that know one is to tell Emily about Matt's death yet. When Alice made
her way into Emily's room, the girl rejected the sight of her.
Undeterred, Alice left her number, in case Em changed her mind about
talking.
Emily dials up Matt and gets his mom, who bitterly informs her of her
friend's o.d., and then accuses Emily of being the one who turned Matt
on to drugs. "You killed my little boy, you tramp," she says
and hangs up. Dorman walks in and starts trying to comfort the
distraught girl.
Emily is crying about Matt. Dorman is, of course, smarmy.
A.J. comes in. Emily says she's mad at him, he lied to her. They start talking. She's
missed her science fair. She cries about Matt. Out in the
hall, Jason sees Dorman, but Dorman only senses his presence, doesn't
see him. Alan overhears A.J. and Emily. He retreats, and tells
Monica what an amazing job A.J. is doing. He blames himself.Jason
pops in; it's Emily's check-out day, and she's a little frightened at
having to show her face in the real world, where people can't get fired
for pointing you out for gossiping about your o.d. She's envious
of Jason's confidence, and notes that she and AJ care too much about
what others think of them. Jason gives Emily his pager number, and
offers to visit and get her out of the Q house whenever she wants.
Before he leaves, he gives Emily her charm bracelet that he found in the
park. AJ comes in as Jason leaves, and asks about the bracelet; when she
explains how she lost it, she starts to break down and tells him about
Matt's upcoming funeral, and Mrs. Reynolds' accusations. AJ tries
to help her see that the woman was just lashing out for the first, best
target, and partly succeeds; when he threatens to find the punk who got
her on drugs and beat 'em to a pulp, Emily confides that he'd be looking
for a dead man, and as she recounts their use, concludes that Matt's
o.d. *was* her fault, and loses it again. Trying to comfort Emily, AJ
compares her situation with Matt to the accident that caused Jason's
brain damage; he was behind the wheel, while she and Matt simply had a
common passion for sports cars. While she eventually sees his point, she
doesn't agree with it, but he encourages her to not close herself off to
people about it. AJ gives Em a "one day at a time"-type speech
from AJ, after Emily remares that she doesn't know how she'll be able to
get through the ordeal of a homecoming without a joint.
AJ tells her to call him at the hotel if she needs anything. Emily's back home, and Edward's being insulting, chastizing her for her
use, and informing her that she won't be allowed to take any of the
family cars out. When Lila intervenes, Emily tells them she giving up
the drugs, and says they don't have to worry about her wild friends,
because it was only Matt, and he's not too much fun these days.
Ned apologizes to Em for missing all the signs of her drug use. When she
wonders if he ever experimented with drugs, Ned admits to using pot in
boarding school and reveals that one of his friends ended up dead after
moving on to harder stuff. Edward and Emily, it's late at night. Emily comes into the
living room, looking for something. Ed questions if she's come for
a midnight snack, as she ate only a few spoonfuls of rice at dinner.
He's worries about her, hopes she hasn't come down with that illness
where girls starve themselves. She assures him she's not anorexic.
She came down to find the book she's been reading--"War and
Peace". He's surprised that a girl her age would be reading
such a serious book. Emily confesses: "I mostly skip the war
parts." Ed: "Why? They're the best
part." Ed tries to have a heart to heart with her. He
admits that when he's concerned about someone, he usually shows it by
bellowing orders. She apologizes for letting him and the family
down. He tells her that he doesn't want her to harm herself
anymore: "You make Monica and Alan's life miserable.
Theydeserve it." But she mustn't do anything to hurt herself.
Ed: "I always wanted a daughter like you...instead I got
Tracy." He tells her that when she came into his life, he
felt as though his dream had come true. He does not want to lose
her. Everyone makes imstakes, and encounters potholes in life. You
just have to learn how to deal with them.
Emily: "What about grandmother?" Ed:
"*I* was her main pothole."
Emily: "Do you love anyone in this family besides
grandmother?" He assures her that he loves his family, but
doesn't tell them, because he just assumes that they know. Edward
realizes that he may be gruff, but he confides :"I have come to
love you very much...there is a special place in my heart that is very
much your own." The two of them cement their newfound closeness by
raiding cook's kitchen for a midnight snack.
Edward is huffing about Jax's arrest and the damage it might do to ELQ.
When Emily comes in, there's a sudden hush, and Emily stalks out.
She's upset that every time anyone says "drugs" in any
connection, they think of her. Alan and Monica plan to talk to her, but
Alan should be at the board meeting. They are reviewing residents'
applications. Dr. Dorman has made it so Monica can't be there.
Alan: "GOD, I hate Dorman!"Emily writes in her diary.
Monica comes in, and says that sometimes talking to another person is as
good as a diary. Emily rolls her eyes. Monica comments that she's
home early, and Emily starts to claim illness, then goes for the truth.
Someone at school made a mean crack about Matt in the cafeteria.
Emily doesn't like it that everyone thinks Matt was a loser, even Alan
and Monica. Monica tells her that she respects Emily's loss, even
though she herself didn't like Matt. Emily tells Monica about
Matt's mom. Emily leaves and Monica (naturally) calls Matt's
mother. She introduces herself and a distraught Mrs. Reynolds yells at
her, but also lets drop that Pierce Dorman was a family friend, Matt's
surrogate Dad. Monica asks Emily about this. Emily hadn't known.
When she and Matt were watching the trial, Matt said nothing about it.
Monica is upset to learn that Emily had cut school with Matt for this.
Emily tells her that one time she found Matt reading her mail.
Emily apologizes. Downstairs Lucky comes in, hoping to see Emily.
Lila and Ned reminisce with him about the poker game he won with Edward.
Lila sends Lucky up. Monica asks Emily: "Were you doing drugs
with your other friends up in this room?" "In case you
haven't noticed, I don't have any other friends." Lucky comes in.
They chat a bit about grape snowcones in the desert, and go out for a
walk.
Monica reads Emily's diary about her drug abuse with Matt. She puts
disparate pieces of information together and intuits that Pierce Dorman
was Matt's (and Emily's) drug supplier.
At GH, Emily is on her way to a drug counseling session; she runs into
Jason who is spying on Dorman. Jason says he will attend the
family drug counseling session if Emily wants him there; she decides she
can do without him. Dorman attempts to speak to Em but Alan comes up and
warns him to stay away from her. Monica taunts him. She will see that he
suffers just as he made her family suffer. The most helpless she
ever felt was seeing her daughter Emily in the hospital from an overdose
of drugs that *he* provided. Now she asks Dorman: "How
does it feel to be helpless?"
Dorman whined, groveled and ranted, to an unimpressed Monica, who
threatened him with various tortures and settled on reading him Matt's
toxicology report. She faced him with Matt's murder. Dorman
squirmed some more. Monica checked her watch. Almost time
for the family meeting. She held up a needle to show Dorman
exactly the amount of heroin that had killed Matt. He groveled
some more and screamed when she injected him. Monica
informed Dorman that she had not injected him with heroin, just some
more sodium pentothal. When he demanded to know what she was going to do
with him, she told him that she intended to put him on trial for his
crimes and that the judge would be Monica Quartermaine.
The first Quartermaine Family therapy session did not go well. Edward
was gruff and uncooperative. A.J. showed up. Alan was late
since he was talking to Karen. Monica was late, since she was
torturing Dorman. Ned was nice, and limited his snide remarks to
one dig at A.J. Alan came home just before Mac turned up.
Mac was looking for Monica. Monica appeared seconds after
Mac left. Monica was positively cheerful and glowing. The
therapy session went on off-screen and ended badly. Emily came
running out the room very upset and ran upstairs. The therapist
advised them to leave Emily alone for awhile. They took the
advice. Monica went back to torture Dorman some more.
At the Quartermaine's, Jason wants to talk to Monica and asks Alan to
page her. Meanwhile, in the sleazy motel, Monica is threatening
Dorman, who asks "Are you going to kill me?" "After
everything we've been through, you know me so little. Do you know
Gilbert and Sullivan?" She want's to make the
"punishment fit the crime." Pierce cannot help himself,
he has to snottily correct her quote: "My object ALL
sublime.." Monica starts listing his crimes. She might leave
it up to the courts if it weren't for Emily. Emily comes downstairs and
says hi to Jason. Monica gets paged, and gags Dorman. Jason talks
to her. She says she's at the hospital. He says he'll meet
her, and she says there's no point, she's coming home. Jason tells
Alan and Emily that Monica is coming home and the doorbell rings.
It's Mac, looking for Monica. Meanwhile, Jason does a *69 and
finds out Monica called from the Starlight Motel, and dashes out.
Mac follows him. Monica gets out a gun and points it at Dorman.
Pierce begs for his life, as he screams for help, Jason enters the motel
room. Monica shakily orders her son to leave, Jason convinces her to
give him the gun. He makes sure she has covered any evidence of her
pressence, Jason tells her to allow him to handle Dorman's punishment.
Mac breaks in and tells Jason to untie Dorman, then reads a stunned
Pierce his rights and places him under arrest on a slew of charges
ranging from drug trafficing to murder.
Monica tells Mac about the theft of Emily's diary and that was how
Dorman got all the dirt on the Q secrets. Emily, who has
come down and is now sitting on the stairs, overhears the entire
conversation and looks both stunned and sick when she hears that Dorman
used her diary against the family. Ned comes in the hallway and Monica asks
him to keep an eye on Emily because she has to leave; they walk off.
Emily comes downstairs, looking way out of it, and calls AJ.
He's not home so she leaves a message asking him to please call her or
come over.
Emily creeps back downstairs. She calls AJ again but he's still
not home. She hangs up before leaving a message. Ned is happy to
see Emily and asks where she's been all day. She says she was in bed. He tries to get her to cheer up by suggesting a walk
when AJ comes by. He asks Emily if she's okay because he recieved
her message and was worried. Gripping scene as Emily begins
sobbing saying that she's sorry because everything that's happened was
her fault.
Emily goes into the Q den crying and saying that everything was all her
fault. AJ and Ned follow her in asking what she means and what she
thinks she did. She tells him that she never should have written
in her diary because it's like she told the family's secrets and that
Ned wouldn't have lost Lois and AJ wouldn't have lost his job if it
weren't for her. She turns to Ned and reminds him that he told her
not to tell. He tries to calm her saying that writing in a diary
isn't telling but Emily screams that "it is if somebody reads
it!" She opens her diary and reads where she wrote about
finding out about Ned and Monica's affair and that was how Dorman found
out. She begins ripping the pages out and throwing htem at Ned
when he tries to restrain her. She backs away from him and AJ
tells Ned to let him try. AJ tries to tell her that it doesn't
make sense because how could Dorman have gotten ahold of her diary.
Emily looks at AJ with total rage in her face and says with absolute
hatred in her voice "Because he's mean and sneaky!" She
then reads from her diary where she wrote about AJ driving the night
that Jason got hurt. AJ tells her it doesn't matter and that it's
probably best that people found out. Emily insists that Monica lost in
court and her job because of what Emily wrote and did. She tries
to leave but Ned grabs her arms.
Emily starts to scream for him to
let her go but he just looks at her straight in the eyes and asks what
drug she took. AJ pulls Ned away and asks him if he's trying to
make things worse. Emily just stands there with her mouth open
looking shocked, stunned, hurt, and terrified. AJ tells a guilty-looking
Ned to back off. AJ turns to Emily and tries to reassure her that
he knows she didn't take anything. She looks way gone from reality
and starts backing up telling them to just go away. She slides down onto the floor, clutching her knees to her chest and starts
rocking back and forth, saying over and over "go away go
away." AJ begins to berate Ned about the drug accusation.
Ned tells AJ that she had the same look in her eyes that she had the
night of overdose but that AJ wouldn't remember because he was off someplace getting drunk. AJ
tells Ned he's right and they argue about who might know more about
addictions. While they're talking, Emily is still rocking with her hands
clutching the sides of her head and still repeating "go away."
Ned says she's hysterical to which AJ reminds him that she's been
through a lot and has a right to be upset. AJ raises Emily's head
asking her to look at him and when she does, her eyes immediately go
blank and she gets really quiet. ned comes to her and she slinks
away from him. She looks as if she has no idea who they are but
she Lets AJ pick her up and carry her to the car so they can go to the
hospital. Ned follows behind.
Jason arrives at GH and informs Alan & Monica that Dorman's out of
jail and has a restraining order against him (Jason). Monica and
Alan get mad and Alan starts ranting about how he could still fire Dorman. Just then, AJ walks off the elevator carrying
Emily with Ned following sheepishly behind. Monica asks what
happened and Ned walks over to her saying Emily needs a doctor. He
tells about her "freaking out at the house" and how he thinks
she's on drugs. Alan starts to follow AJ and Em but Ned stops him
saying AJ doesn't think she's on drugs and then tells about Em being
upset over her diary and Dorman reading it. Monica realizes with
horror that Em heard her talking to Mac and Ned asks in disbelief that
it's true. Ned tells them that Em started crying and then she
wouldn't speak or respond. Al;an leaves ot speak to a psychiatric
resident and Ned, Monica, and Jason go to see Emily. AJ and Em are
sitting in some chairs. Em has her hands clasped in front of her
and is rocking back and forth again. Monica tries telling her that
there's no need to be afraid and no one is mad at her but Em still
doesn't respond. AJ tries to reassure Monica that at least Em let
him bring her to the hospital. Alan walks up and tells them that
the doctor is ready to see Emily now so AJ picks her up and carries her
to her room. AJ is talking to Emily telling her to come back to them
when she's ready and that they'll be waiting for her.
Outside Em's room, the doctor tells the Q's that she didn't take any
drugs and that due to her immense grief, she just basically shut down to
protect herself. Alan, Monica, nad the doctor go back in the room.
Ned remains outside when Brenda comes up. He tells her that there
were no drugs in Em's system to which Brenda breathes a sigh of relief.
Ned tells her "Apparently she was protecting herself-- from jerks
like me." Brenda reassures him that she was only protecting
herself and that when Emily recovers, she'll see that a lot of people
will think you've slipped even when you haven't and that Emily trusts Ned and won't blame him. he
tells her that he'd rather have her angry with him though instead of
herself. Brenda goes into her bag and pulls out a locket that she
received as a Mother's Day gift from her goddaughter, Brooke Lynn.
Inside the locket is a picture of Brokke and Brenda asks Ned if Lois
would mind if she gave the locket to Emily because she remembers how
much Emily loved Brooke. He says it would be fine.
The doctor flashes a pocket light in Emily's eyes and talks to her but
she doesn't respond. He and the Q's got to the corner and tells
them that her reflexes are normal and that her silence isn't as forced.
Alan and the doctor discuss the use of drugs to bring Emily back but the
doctor believes that at this time, drugs aren't necessary because she'll
probably come out of her state on her own and she just needs some rest.
They tell Emily good-bye and leave. Ned asks if anything's
changed. Monica says no and that more than anything she wishes
that Emily never found out about Dorman reading her diary. Brenda
says, "I can't believe that monster would use a little girl's diary
to do his dirty work."
Ned and Brenda go in to see Emily. Brenda talks to Emily and tells her
about the locket. She puts it in Emily's hand and tells how it helped
her and can help Emily also. Brenda reminds Emily that Lois,
Brooke Lynn, and everyone loves her to which Ned tells Em to count him
in on that. Brenda tells her it was unfair because all she did was write in a book that was
supposed to be private and that it's not her fault that the
"secrets" were revealed. Ned tells Em how sorry he was
for accusing her of being on drugs. They leave and Emily looking
like she could almost cry flashes back to when Dorman told her that monica was going to pay, then to when
Monica lost in court, and then to when she had hung up the phone after
Matt's mom told her it was her fault for Matt being dead. Emily
starts to move the locket around in her hand.
Monica and Alan are in Emily's room and they comment on the locket.
Jason comes in and sits next to Emily. He tells her he's sorry she
feels bad and that she looks like he did after his accident. He
tells her that he got better though and so will she but she jsut
shouldn't be scared. Monica pretty much runs out of the room.
Alan follows her and she tells Alan she didn't want Emily to see her
cry. She breaks down and tells Alan, who holds her, thatshe is so
angry she can't breathe and that she should have killed Dorman when she
had the chance.
A distraught A.J. promises Emily no one will ever hurt her again.
Alan goes in to see Emily. Ned talks to Emily about Brooke.
She's unresponsive. To the great relief of her family, Emily comes
around and greats them all with a smile and hugs them.
Alan and Monica talk to Emily in the GH corridor, prior to her drug
counseling session. A.J. comes up and reassures the kid, too. They leave
Emily momentarily and Pierce Dorman steps off the elevator. Dorman
tells Emily to keep quiet that she saw him then he hurries off.
Dorman goes to the GH morgue. The tells the attendant that he promised
the family he would accompany a body from the GH morgue to the
undertaker. The attendant goes to get some release forms signed and Pierce checks the drugs he stashed inside the body.
Emily surprises him and tries to physically attack him, yelling about
how he murdered Matt. He throws her against a wall; she is dazed. She
runs from the room and wanders around a while, ending up in an empty
surgery room. She picks up a scalpel and gazes goonily at it. Clutching
the instrument she heads out the door. Meanwhile, Dorman paces the
morgue, anxiously waiting for the attendant to return with the papers.
Someone quietly enters the room and creeps up behind him. Pierce whirls
around and faces his attacker. He has his usual, smarmy look at first
then is surprised when he looks down, a trickle of blood oozing from
between his lips, and sees a scalpel buried in his chest. Dorman
falls backward, glassy-eyed, but is he dead yet?
The hospital is in darkness and all is chaos as the system has crashed.
Carly steps into the morgue and spots the bad Dorman on the floor.
At that moment, Jason steps behind her and places a hand over her mouth
to stifle her screams. When she calms, Jason warns her to be careful not
to touch anything. He gets some plastic gloves from a cabinet and
searches Dorman's body, finding the plane tickets. Then he tells
Carly to call the cops and leave a good strong print on the
"911" numbers on the phone. Carly tells her that she
will lie for him if he wants. She's prepared to lie through her
teeth for him. Jason tells her just to say the truth (with a few
minor lapses)--that she came in, found Dorman dead, and Jason already
there.
In the GH parking garage -- Monica is leading a zombie-like Emily to the
car. Ned surprises them and when Em turns, Ned sees there are
blood streaks on her hospital gown. Ned also sees that Monica
holds a blood-stained scalpel in her hand. They get Em into the
car. Monica informs him that Dorman is dead. "They're
not going to find anything," she assures him. Ned tells her
to give him the weapon and she takes the girl home while Ned stays
behind. Emily is still in a near-catatonic state. Monica draws her
a bath and tells her everything will be all right, but Em freaks when
Monica tries to help her undress. Later, she puts Em to bed and
tries to explain that sometimes it's good to keep secrets. She
asks Emily not to tell anyone about what happened at the hospital.
After a moment, Em jerks out "Okay." As Monica lifts her
arm, Em notices a spot of blood on Monica's sleeve.
Em is in bed having nightmares. Ned returns and wants to know if
Monica or Em killed Dorman. Monica doesn't answer the question but
tells Ned that she found Dorman dead on the morgue floor with a bloody
scapel and Em's locket beside him. She scooped them both up and went and
found Em, who had blood on her. Alan, Monica and Ned all troop up to
Em's room to check on her. Em's still asleep.
Emily is crashed, with Ned, Alan and Monica hovering over her. Alan and
Monica step out and Ned stays. Emily, awake, is hysterical, crying in
Ned's arms saying she's sorry and "it's my fault, please don't hate
me." Turns out, she's talking about her diary, and has had a
complete memory lapse of the last 48 hours. The last thing she remembers
is getting into AJ's car. Ned and
Monica break the news to her, that Dorman can't hurt her anymore. Upon
hearing of his death, she admits she's happy about it. Monica encourages
Emily to eat; when she says the word "attack" in reference to
a croissant, Em has a memory of seeing blood on Monica's pink blouse.
Monica, in
Em's room, tries to get her to eat. Emily is not hungry. Alan
comes in. Emily is worried that Mac is there. They leave.
Emily spills jelly on her sleeve and flashes back to Monica's bloody
sleeve. She heads to the door, but Jason is there. Jason
asks if she's feeling better. They talk. "What makes a peron
kill somebody?" She feels responsible. Dorman died on
the same day Paige did. Jason leaves and Emily goes looking for the
bloody blouse. She finds it in the hamper, and covers it up again
and runs off. Later she feigns sleep, Monica tucks her in, and
then she opens her eyes and looks troubled.
Taggert
wants to question Emily, and the Q's reluctantly agree. Emily
doesn't say much except she remembers being in pajamas and gets upset
about losing her locket which Monica immediately produces. Emily
and Edward come downstairs discussing Ed's singing act for the Nurses'
Ball. Em is trying to get Ed to let her help him but he won't let
her because no one in the family knows anything about good music and
that no one int he family wants to help him anyway. Ned tells Ed
to let her help: Ed agrees and goes off to make some phone calls before
"rehearsal." Ned tells Em that he is worried that it
will be too stressful for her but she says that she is tired of hiding
in her room all day. She goes to eat breakfast.
Nurse's
Ball begins. Alan Quartermaine sang a song from Cinderella as a bevy of
beautiful women clad in every color of the rainbow (Lucy Coe, Amy
Vining, Dara Jensen, Bobbie Cassadine, Carly Roberts, Monica
Quartermaine, Emily Quartermaine, Alexis Davis, Gail Baldwin, Keesha
Ward and Mary Scanlon, came on stage for a fashion show. The women end up
on steps behind Alan, forming a rainbow with their dress colors.
Edward's
number is on, he wears a big baggy suit and a comical long tie.
The Ward Street Kids are his chorus. They sing "I don't need
anything but you." In the middle of the number, Ed points to
Emily--"Help me, okay?" She joins in the song and
finishes the song with him. She also dances with the ice-cream man
onstage ( who happens to be Russ Tamblyn--remember Riff from "West
Side Story"?--who is Amber Tamblyn's real life dad). Next,
Ned and Dara sing "You've Got a Friend". B During the
number, the camera pans to squares on the quilt that are being used as
back-drop. We see Mac have a flash back to the time he presented
Stone's square to Robin, wrapping it around her. He's moist-eyed,
too.
