Nikolas & Emily #7  October 25, 2004 - January 28, 2005 - 8 hour original edit

At the police station, Nikolas slowly tells Mac the facts surround Helena's death, but Mac refuses to allow Nikolas to take any blame for killing his monster of a grandmother. He says he has to tie up loose ends, but as far as he's concerned the case will be closed as an accident. Emily rejoices at Mac's decision, but Nikolas can't help but continue to be plagued by guilt. Back at Wyndemere, he's further sickened when he opens up a note that tells him someone saw what he did.

Nik receives a note from someone claiming to have seen what he did to Helena. He immediately assumes that Helena is behind the note, and tells Emily that she managed to survive. Emily refuses to believe it, and assures Nikolas that there is no way Helena could have lived after her fall from the cliffs. Lucky agrees with Emily, and tells them he'll continue to work on finding Helena's body. Meanwhile, Mary's husband Connor, who bears a striking resemblance to Nikolas, returns to her home clearly upset to find out that his wife has been killed. He immediately begins to quietly inspect Wyndemere, and later calls and issues a veiled threat to Nikolas over the phone. Nikolas and Emily get good news from Ric, that they found a bone-marrow donor for Kristina and that Mac has decided to reconsider the charge of obstructing justice for Nikolas grabbing his gun to shoot Mary with. While they are talking, Connor eavesdrops. Later, Emily spots Connor and calls out Nikolas' name but the he doesn't respond and walks away.

Nikolas shows up at Kristina's room. He hears Ned and Alexis talking about Sonny and asks her if Sonny is bothering her. Alexis lies and tells Nikolas that they were really discussing how great Ric has been to her and Kristina. Alexis denies that there is anything more to her relationship with Ric than friendship. Nikolas and Ned don't buy it. Nikolas leaves the room and runs into Emily. Emily asks him how he got to Kristina's room so fast. Nikolas is confused and tells her he has been there for a few minutes at least. Emily tells him that she thought she saw him just a minute ago in the hallway but thinks she just saw someone who looked like him. Later, Emily takes a bath. A man enters the bathroom and touches Emily's neck and face. Emily turns around and is startled to see someone who looks identical to Nikolas but isn't quite him. Connor kidnaps Emily and brings her to Mary's cabin where he intends to kill her. He changes his mind and, instead, turns the gun towards himself.

Emily talks him out of killing himself just as a gun-carrying Nikolas arrives to find her comforting Connor. Emily manages to get through to Connor about the situation with Mary, and he decides to release her. Before he can flee the scene, though, Nikolas shows up and draws a gun on Connor. Connor immediately points a gun back at Nikolas, and Emily finds herself between the two men and begging them to put both their weapons down. She tries to reason with them both and explain that Nikolas didn't kill Mary, but that Connor wasn't going to hurt Emily either. Nikolas is the first to lower his weapon, but Connor holds a gun to Emily and continues to threaten Nikolas. Finally, Emily is able to get through to him again, and he lowers his gun from her side. Nikolas uses this opportunity to grab Connor and try to wrestle the gun away, but it goes off and shoots Connor in the chest. They call 911, and Connor is rushed to GH where Lucky and Liz are told of the situation.

As Connor is in the emergency room, Nikolas admits to Lucky that he not only shot Connor, but he also purposely killed Helena and Connor witnessed it. Emily defends Nicolas’s actions as self-defense, and Lucky warns Nikolas to hope that Connor does not live. Nikolas and Emily explain the situation with Connor to Lucky, until Liz runs out and announces that Connor has stopped breathing. They all consider the consequences if he lives or dies, but a doctor finally appear to announce that he's going to be fine. Connor again calls for a police officer, so Lucky goes into the room and listens as Connor tells him that Nikolas purposely killed Helena. Nikolas worries that he'll be tried for the murder, but Emily continues to remind him to think positively and to remember that he was defending her. She later goes into Connor's room, and whispers to him that while he may have seen Nikolas throw Helena off the cliff, he doesn't understand the situation. She implores him to remember that Nikolas deserves happiness just as much as he does.

Emily spent time at Connor's bedside, as he lay comatose. She hoped he could hear her speaking as she begged him not to tell about Helena's death. Nikolas was not convinced that Connor could hear her or that it would matter if he could. Lucky suggested contacting the military police, since Connor was a deserter, to have him transported to a military hospital. Emily heard this and rushed to Connor's room as he regained consciousness. Emily warns Connor that he's about to be caught by the military police, and she convinces him to get out of bed and escape the hospital with her. While trying to get out the back stairway, they run into Alan, but Emily manages to cover by pretending Connor is Nikolas.

Meanwhile, two military officers join Lucky and Nikolas when they find Connor's empty hospital room. Nikolas immediately assumes that Connor grabbed Emily and ran with her, but Alan's surprise to see him back in the hospital helps him realize that Connor and Emily might still be in the hospital after all. Minutes later, Emily arrives and tries to tell Lucky and Nikolas what she did. The military police walk up behind her, however, so she covers and says only that Connor is gone and they won't find him. The police leave to follow up on his possible escape to Canada, and Emily blasts Lucky for calling them in to get Connor. Lucky defends his actions and takes off. Emily takes Nikolas back to Wyndemere, where he's stunned to see Connor in his living room. Emily explains that she set the whole thing up and will explain, but Nikolas goes off on her for protecting Connor. Connor immediately jumps to Emily's defense, and shouts out that she wasn't protecting him, she was really protecting Nikolas.

At Wyndemere, Emily makes arrangements with Elizabeth to stop by and see Kristina, while continuing to hide Connor from the Military Police. As Connor asks if he would be able to help with Nikolas's ailing relative, Nikolas arrives. When Emily explains the plan to use stem cells from Samantha's baby to save Kristina, Nikolas makes plans to go to the Hospital, but worries about leaving Connor alone At Wyndemere. Emily volunteers to stay with Connor, and Nikolas reluctantly agrees to go to the hospital without Emily.

Afterward, as Emily changes Connor's bandages, Connor thanks Emily for all of her help in eluding the military police. Connor confides that he believes that some of his friends may have perished in combat because Connor left his post to be with Mary. Connor later emotionally admits that he was sick of the war and believes that he might have used Mary's inability to cope with being alone as an excuse to leave a war zone. Connor has a nightmare and wakes to confide to Emily that he believes that he is responsible for the death of his best friend. As Emily tries to comfort Connor, Nikolas suddenly arrives home and is upset when he observes the closeness of Emily and Connor.

Nikolas returns to Wyndemere and witnesses Emily comforting Connor after he has a nightmare about Iraq. Nikolas wants Connor to take off for Canada as soon as possible. Connor angers Nikolas when he questions why Emily would choose someone like Nikolas to marry. Emily plays referee and asks Nikolas to leave her to deal with Connor on her own. Nikolas is hesitant to leave Emily alone with Connor but she assures him she can handle Connor and knows a way to get Connor to accept the truth about Mary. Nikolas heads to Kelly's where he sits and has coffee with Lucky. Lucky tells Nikolas that the military police are trying to track down Connor right now and that they know that Connor hasn't left Port Charles. Nikolas pretends not to know where Connor is. Lucky doesn't really believe him.

Mac shows up at Kelly's to question Nikolas again. Mac asks Nikolas if Emily has remembered anything more about when Connor used her as a hostage to get out of the hospital. Nikolas tells Mac that Emily was traumatized enough probably not to remember too many details about the car Connor stole. Mac tells Nikolas that they have received no reports of a missing or stolen car. Nikolas points out that maybe the person whose car was stolen was out of town and didn't realize it had been stolen. Mac makes Nikolas tell him when he first came to the conclusion that Mary's husband was alive after all. Nikolas tells him about how someone on the docks was surprised when he showed up saying he just saw him take the launch a little while ago when he couldn't have. Mac suggests to Nikolas that Connor may not want to leave Port Charles until he avenges Emily's death and that he hates Nikolas enough. Nikolas still pretends not to know anything. Mac warns Nikolas that if all is said and done and he finds out that Nikolas or Emily knew something more about Connor and didn't tell him or the police he will be arrested again. Mac also warns Lucky that the warning extends to him too. After Mac leaves, Lucky tells Nikolas that he is willing to risk his career for Emily and him but not for Connor, who isn't grateful for anything right now.

Emily takes out Mary's diary and hands it to Connor to read. Connor asks Emily to read the diary for him. Emily reads Mary's account of what happened when Nikolas showed up at her door with amnesia and looked so much like Connor that she wanted to believe God sent him to help keep her from dying of a broken heart. Connor begins to cry and asks Emily to stop reading the diary. Connor tells her that he is to blame for what happened with Mary and that Mary isn't to blame for what she did. Emily tries to stop him from blaming himself. Nikolas asks her to read the diary some more. Emily reads about Mary's account of when Nikolas found out that she had lied about his identity and how he had left her. Connor takes the diary to read for himself. Inside the diary, Mary had written the word "alone" repeatedly for several pages. Emily goes to make something for them to eat and drink. When she returns to the living room she finds Connor has disappeared. She drops the tray of food and drink on the floor and goes out to find him. She finds him at Mary's gravesite. Connor tells Emily that Mary's biggest fear was to be left alone and that her worst fear came true. After Emily reads happy passages from Mary's diary to Connor, he impulsively kisses her.

Mac shows up at Wyndemere to question Emily, but he runs into Connor. Connor plays along when Mac assumes he's Nikolas, and he quickly leaves the room once Emily arrives. Mac questions her about Connor's presence when Helena went over the cliff, but Emily continues to maintain that Nikolas did not kill his grandmother, it was simply an accident-regardless of what Connor might have seen. Mac leaves, but is obviously still suspicious, and this prompts Nik to demand that Connor leave for Canada that night. Emily agrees, but Connor first thanks both of them and apologizes to Nikolas for kissing Emily. Nikolas doesn't buy Emily's insistence that Connor briefly thought she was Mary, and he tells her that Connor won't leave easily. True to Nik's predictions, Connor purposely rips open a stitch in order to stay in Port Charles longer. Once Emily sees that he's bleeding, she tells Nikolas that there's no way that Connor can travel.

Nikolas and Emily argue about Connor. Emily doesn't think it is safe for Connor to travel when he just reopened his wound. Nikolas thinks Connor did it himself so he could postpone leaving the country. Emily thinks Connor will hold up to his end of their deal by leaving the country and not telling the police what he knows. Nikolas leaves for awhile, unaware that Connor overheard their argument. Later, Emily comes into the living room and thinks Nikolas returned home but realizes that it is actually Connor. She tells him he shouldn't be hanging around in the open in case the cops show up or something. Connor thanks her and Nikolas for being nice to him and helping him out. He asks Emily how she met Nikolas. She tells him that she and Nikolas didn't fall in love with each other until they were adults but admits she had a big crush on him when she was a teenager. Connor tells her that he doesn't understand how Nikolas waited so long to realize what a great woman she was and fall in love with her. She tells him that they were with other people and that it wasn't like it was for him and Mary, who fell in love out of high school. Connor tells her that he would have appreciated her sooner than Nikolas would have and tries to kiss her again. Emily slaps him hard across the face. Connor tells her that she made a big mistake right now by hitting him.

Connor agrees to leave Port Charles and head out of the country for Emily. However, he later returns to Wyndemere, where he says he's going to turn Nikolas into the police. Nikolas arrives with Mac and Lucky and tells Emily and Connor that he has confessed to killing Helena.  Despite Emily's protests, Nikolas admits to Mac and Lucky that he killed Helena, and that Connor was holding it over him in order to escape the country. Emily is devastated when Mac takes Nikolas to the station, and she unleashes her anger on Connor. Connor could care less, though, and he knocks out Lucky and holds Emily hostage with Lucky's weapon, demanding she help him escape before the authorities decide to take him into custody as well. Emily is disgusted at Connor's ability to manipulate them to avenge Mary's death, and she refuses to help him. Connor holds the gun on Lucky, so Emily must finally call the helicopter pilot to fly to Spoon Island. Lucky manages to wake long enough to try and knock the gun away from Connor, but he's unsuccessful, and Connor prepares to walk out the door. As Emily tends to Lucky's head injury, Connor opens the front doors and finds two military police officers with guns aimed at him.

After Emily convinces Justus to represent Nikolas, Emily is stunned when Nikolas refuses any kind of help from Justus, insisting that Nikolas wants to pay the penalty for killing his own grandmother. After Justus leaves the PCPD, Emily blasts Nikolas for deliberately throwing away all chances for any future happiness that they might have. When Nikolas argues that he is just protecting them from any future attempts at blackmail, Emily refuses to listen, accuses Nikolas of being selfish, and storms out of the interrogation room. Nikolas meets with Elizabeth at the PCPD and asks Elizabeth to take care of canceling everything connected with the weddings so that Emily doesn't have to deal with it all. Elizabeth accuses Nikolas of being a pig-headed jerk and urges Nikolas to have some hope for the possibility of a happy future with Emily. Sam tries to convince Emily not to give up hope of a happy future with Nikolas. Emily returns later to the PCPD and apologizes to Nikolas. Nikolas then suggests that they marry before Nikolas goes to trial for his grandmother's death. Emily agrees and they seal their new understanding with a kiss.

Emily and Nikolas appeal to the judge to release Nik in order for the two of them to marry. The judge denies their request, and with help from Liz and Lucky, they try to find another way to get Nikolas out of jail long enough to have a wedding. Lucky suggests they appeal to Mac, so Emily and Nikolas beg him to go to the judge and plead for them to be allowed to get married. Mac says he'll think about, and later goes to the judge and managed to persuade him to have Nik released for a short time to marry Emily. The four are thrilled with the news, and Liz and Lucky immediately begin to plan the event.  Emily and Liz prepare for Emily's wedding to Nikolas. Despite everyone's warnings that she's setting herself up for heartache, Emily refuses to listen to her family and vows to marry Nikolas and wait for him to get out of prison. Jason shows concern over Emily's decision, but he loves her so he promises to support her and be at her ceremony. Emily makes a last-minute visit to Nikolas at the police station, so Lucky and Liz step in for the bride and groom during the rehearsal. As the two rehearse the ceremony, Connor waits outside and watches them.

As Nikolas returns to his cell in prison, Emily is busy at the Haunted Star, coaching Connor on the way Connor should behave in public if they want to fool Helena into believing that Connor is really Nikolas. When they hear Tracy calling for Dillon, the conspirators quickly duck out of sight. When Dillon arrives, Connor and Emily are surprised when Dillon appears to be about ready to confess their scam to his mother. However, Lucky arrives immediately and congratulates Dillon for thinking of bringing Tracy 'on board.' Connor and Emily breathe a sigh of relief when they hear Lucky explain that they called Tracy to the Haunted Star to encourage Tracy to get the Quartermaines to quit fighting with each other for Emily's sake. Tracy insists that she has never wished for any harm to come to Emily and Tracy storms away. After Tracy leaves, Emily and Connor come out of hiding and are soon joined by Luke and Skye. Luke suggests that Tracy may be cooperating with Helena because Helena has threatened Dillon. Luke suggests that it is now more important than ever for Connor and Emily to continue their charade. After Emily, Dillon, Georgie, and Connor leave, Luke and Skye continue to brain storm for a way to defeat Helena.

Connor tells Emily he is bored hanging around the casino without anything to do but learn proper dinner etiquette to be more like Nikolas. He tells her that there is no way that he is going to be able to fool Helena when she does come out of hiding to see him. Connor tells Emily that the plan won't work also since Emily won't be able to convince Helena or anyone that she is in love with him since every time she looks at him she can't hide the fact that she doesn't even like him. Emily promises to try harder to look like she is in love with him. He tells her they will have to practice that. He pretends to walk into the room pretending to be Nikolas and he wants her to smile at him as if she can't wait to touch him. He walks in and Emily smiles but hesitantly. Connor tells her that her smile won't convince anyone she is in love with him and makes her try it again. Connor tells her that they will have to do everything that she does with Nikolas to convince Helena that he is Nikolas. Emily winces at the thought of kissing Connor. Emily gets really angry with Connor for kissing her, and she leaves after telling him off. She then later returns and apologizes, because she needs to try harder for Nikolas. They have to be convincing or Helena won't believe them.

Alexis arrives to take Emily to see Nikolas in prison, but Connor immediately objects. Emily questions him on it, and he tells her it's too dangerous and Helena might follow her and realize that Nikolas is still in prison. Alexis agrees with him, but Emily won't listen. She tells them that she's going to visit Nikolas regardless of what anyone says, and she does. Later, after making love to Nikolas, she explains the plan to him but he worries that it's too dangerous. Emily promises that Luke will figure it all out, but Nikolas isn't so sure. Their visit is over when the guard arrives, and his suggestive remarks to Emily cause Nikolas to lose it and attack him. Meanwhile, Connor stays back at the Haunted Star and is surprised to see Helena walk into the room. He plays the part of Nikolas quite well, but it's apparent that Helena is unsure and is trying to test him. She's unable to get a rise out of him when she insults both Connor and Mary, but she catches Connor off guard when she eventually comes right out and asks if he's really not her grandson.

Amazingly, Connor manages to convince Helena that he is indeed Nikolas. However, after meeting the insane old woman, he isn't so sure he wants him nor Emily to be "bait" for Helena anymore. He isn't so sure this plan is going to work, and is very sure it's not safe. Emily doesn't care and wants to hear Luke's new plan out. Luke thinks Emily should pretend to be pregnant with Nikolas' child, and they can keep Connor (AKA Nikolas) in hiding so Helena thinks he's off in Europe somewhere. Luke will be right behind Emily, waiting to grab her and drag her down to the prison. Emily is somewhat persuaded by Connor to think about this crazy plan, but eventually decides she trusts Luke and will do whatever it takes to rescue her husband. Luke believes Helena won't harm Emily if she's pregnant with a Cassadine heir.

At Kelly's, Elizabeth is surprised when Lucky and Emily announce that Emily is expecting a baby. However, after Emily leaves, Lucky explains that Emily's 'news' is just a ruse to lure Helena out of hiding.

Aboard The Haunted Star, Luke explains his plan to Skye, gloating that Helena will not be able to resist the possibility of getting her hooks into a new Cassadine heir. However, they are interrupted when Emily barges in and announces that she can not lie to her friends and family about an expected baby. They are soon joined by Elizabeth and Lucky, who assure Emily that they are willing to go along with her charade. Luke becomes enraged when Lucky suggests that Luke is more interested in beating Helena than in protecting Emily. Lucky points out that Luke will be lost when there are no more Cassadines left to defeat.  At the hospital, Emily confides that she is afraid that lying about a baby to her parents could be tempting fate. Elizabeth assures Emily that Luke's plan could guarantee that Nikolas will soon be enjoying freedom.

Lucky shows up at the hospital to see Emily and Elizabeth. He asks them if the plan has been set in motion yet. Emily tells him she just called her parents and left them a message. Lucky tells them he will meet them later. Emily feels guilty about lying to her parents about being pregnant. Meanwhile, Tracy is dismayed to find Luke and Skye waiting for her in the living room. They confront her about working for Helena. She denies it when she sees that Dillon is in the room. Luke and Skye tell her they have written proof that she called Helena from her cell phone. Tracy admits to helping Helena only because she needed the money that Helena promised to help bail out ELQ. Luke forces her to call Helena and help them with their plan. Tracy calls Helena on her cell phone. Helena tells her the plan is in motion but Tracy informs her that Emily is pregnant with Nikolas' child. Helena doesn't tell her anything over the phone. Tracy tells them she doesn't know where Helena is hiding right now. Tracy storms off in a huff.

Lucky has Emily dress up as a cop in winter gear as a disguise for their plan. Emily goes to change. Emily comes out wearing a long robe with a hood to cover her face. Dillon shows up and gives Lucky the gun he found in Luke's office. Dillon tells them that they got his mother to help them by calling Helena and telling her about Emily's pregnancy. Helena is in cahoots with Coleman, who agrees to kidnap Emily but not to kill her. Helena tells him he isn't going to have to kill Emily since she needs her to be alive until she gives birth to Nikolas' child then she won't have any further use of her.

Back on the ship, Emily finds Lucky lying on the floor unconscious and tries to help him. A black masked figure comes up and grabs her and carries her off screaming. Coleman takes Emily to Jake’s where he ties her up. She asks him not to hurt her as she is pregnant, he tells her that is why she is still alive (referring to Helena’s plot).

At the Q's, Tracy is nervous and then she sees Helena standing out on the patio watching them from outside. Helena sees a hooded figure and thinks it is Emily. She points a gun at the figure and is surprised when Skye turns around. Luke comes up from behind Helena and tells her he outsmarted her this time and the game is over. Helena’s cell phone rings, Skye answers it and Coleman tells her he has Emily. Skye demands to know where he is holding Emily. Luke is forced to let Helena go in order to buy Emily some more time. Helena arrives at Jake’s to torment a blindfolded Emily. Helena figures out that Luke enlisted Tracy’s help and figures out that Emily is not really pregnant. Helena makes plans with Coleman to kill Emily, he protests not at Jake’s. Helena leaves, and after she goes Coleman lets Emily go.

Lucky and Liz bring Emily to the cottage where Connor is hiding out, and after a brief scuffle when Connor is unsure of who they are, things settle down and everyone decides that Emily will be safest there and away from Helena. Liz remains unconvinced and is concerned with leaving Emily alone with Connor, but Emily assures her that Lucky said it's the best solution for the time being.  Emily tries to make the best of the situation, but Connor mistakes her intentions and kisses her. Emily immediately jumps back and yells at Connor for trying to get romantic with her. She reiterates to him that she is married and in love with Nikolas and has no feelings toward Connor whatsoever. She runs to the bedroom to keep her distance, and an angry Connor throws dishes around the living room in an attempt to vent his feelings.

Emily tells Connor in no uncertain terms that she isn't interested in him, even if Nikolas remains in jail. Skye delivers a letter from Nikolas to Emily, who is moved to tears. After Connor reads the note and imagines himself in Nicolas’s shoes, he spies on Emily as she sleeps.

At the Safe House, Emily accuses Connor of searching her purse and reading the letter that Emily just received from Nikolas. However, their argument is interrupted by the arrival of Lucky and Elizabeth, who announce that Luke believes that they are close to capturing Helena for good. While Lucky and Connor investigate the basement, Emily confides to Elizabeth that Emily believes that she may be sending Connor mixed messages about her feelings and Emily is beginning to feel very uncomfortable around Connor. When Lucky and Connor return, Connor is disappointed when Emily decides to go out for some shopping with Lucky and Elizabeth. When Emily returns from her shopping trip, she is appalled when she sees that Connor has recreated a romantic evening that Nikolas described in his letter to Emily. Emily blasts Connor for prying into Emily's private affairs, then rushes away and locks herself in her bedroom. Emily unlocks her bedroom door and cautiously steps out of her bedroom.

As a wary Emily slowly walks through the cabin she takes note of the strawberries and cream, champagne and candelabra Connor had arranged for her the previous night. She shudders with repulsion at the sight. She makes her way to the front door and cautiously unlocks it then steps out on to the porch looking for signs of Connor. She is startled when he steps out from behind the door and asks her if she was looking for him. Emily asks if he'd been out and he admits that he had been after thinking he'd heard something. He then asks her why she had locked her bedroom door. Emily is shaken. She asks him how he knew it was locked but Connor evades answering, instead rehashing the night before and acting the wounded party. He tells Emily that he was only trying to make her feel better because he knew how much she missed Nikolas. That she had completely misunderstood things. Emily doesn't believe him but rather than argue with him she suggests they just stop being nice to each other.

A knock at the door heralds the arrival of Lucky and Liz, which brings a momentary end to the argument. Sensing the tension between the two, Liz and Lucky are a bit concerned when they take in the romantic table setting. Connor defensively tells them that he was just trying to be nice then grabs a bottle of champagne and plunks down in a nearby chair to watch the exchange between the three all the while taking generous drinks from the bottle. Emily meanwhile brushes off Liz's concerned questions and concentrates instead on Lucky's announcement of good news. They tell her that Luke is closing in on Helena and that the plan is to have her follow Lucky and Liz back to the safe house where Luke will apprehend her before she can do any harm. Emily is uncomfortable with the thought of having to spend another night with Connor and asks them if they have to remain at the safe house. Given the plans, she realizes that she does. She once again brushes off Liz's look of concern over her unusually tense behavior.

After Lucky and Liz leave, Connor is visibly upset. Emily looks worried when he suggests that it won't be long until she's reunited with Nikolas and he loses her forever. Things quickly deteriorate as Connor begins twisting past events to make it appear that Emily had been doing everything in her power to keep him in her life. She tries to set him straight on his misconceptions but her words fall on deaf ears. Connor tells her that he knows what it's like to be prince and that he knows everything there is to know about being Nikolas except being with her. Emily becomes alarmed as Connor crudely suggests that since Nikolas had been intimate with his wife Mary he should return the favor and be intimate with Emily. She is unable to escape him before he grabs her and savagely kisses her. Emily fights him but is unable to keep Connor from following her to the floor and aggressively groping her. Emily is finally able to reach his discarded bottle of champagne and hit him over the head which momentarily stuns him. She runs for the basement and locks the door before Connor can stop her.

Connor stumbles to the basement door and pounds on it while apologizing to Emily and begging her to open come out. He blames his actions on the champagne. Emily meanwhile is in the basement desperately trying to find a way out. The only door she finds has a locked padlock on it so she runs to a tool chest nearby. She pulls out a screwdriver then slowly goes up the stairs armed with her weapon. Connor is no longer knocking and begging her to open the door. She calls his name then slowly starts to turn the lock when she doesn't hear any sound on the other end. Just then Connor crashes through the basement door, tearing it off of its hinges. Emily takes a wrong step and stumbles down the wooden staircase momentarily stunning herself and losing her weapon. Connor walks up to her and salaciously looks her up and down. Emily watches him but is powerless to defend herself as he violently rips her skirt from her body and forces himself on her. She screams in horror as Connor rapes her.

Emily screams in agony as Connor forces her skirt up, and brutally rapes her in the basement of the house where they are hiding. She fights and cries, but is unable to get him off of her. Connor finishes raping her, and then apologizes, saying he just couldn't help himself because he was so into pretending to be Nikolas. A devastated Emily struggles to pull her skirt down and find a way to get up off the floor. She reaches for a pair of scissors near her, and she stabs them at Connor to keep him away from her. He collapses on the floor, and she manages to hobble up the steps into the living room. Unable to find her keys, and discovering that Connor ripped the phone cord out of the wall, Emily goes back downstairs to see if a dead Connor has her car keys with him. She gets to the basement and finds him gone, so she runs upstairs and grabs her coat to leave. Emily throws open the front door and finds Connor standing there with a gun aimed at her. He enters the house, and tells her again that he's sorry if he scared her. A tearful Emily can no longer fight against him, and he grabs her and hugs her close to him. He begins to kiss her as she cries harder, until suddenly Emily manages to wrench the gun away from him, and step back to blow him away.  Helena walks in as Emily shoots Connor and assumes that she just murdered Nikolas. Helena is about to kill Emily when Lucky and Liz burst in, allowing Helena the opportunity to escape. Lucky talks Liz and Emily into keeping quiet about Connor's death and then bury the corpse in the forest.

Elizabeth gently tries to convince Emily that Emily needs to acknowledge the truth about Connor's brutal assault, but Emily insists that Connor merely went crazy and Emily shot Connor in a panic. Now that Connor is dead, Emily only wants to forget that the entire night ever happened. After Emily storms away, Lucky returns and Elizabeth reports that she believes that Emily was raped, but is refusing to acknowledge the facts to herself. Elizabeth urges Lucky to help Elizabeth convince Emily to go to a clinic to be tested and to preserve evidence for the police, but Lucky argues that Connor is already dead and beyond prosecution. However, Elizabeth reminds Lucky that if the police ever discover Connor's body and begin an investigation, Emily needs to be able to prove that Emily shot Connor in self-defense.

While Lucky and Elizabeth talk, Emily showers away all traces of Connor's violent attack. Later, Elizabeth tries to comfort Emily and Lucky warns that they will need to move Emily to a new safe house but that it is not safe yet for Emily to return home. When Lucky and Elizabeth leave the room to pack, Helena watches Emily through a window. Later, Lucky returns to the Safe House and reports that he is having trouble getting the car started. When Elizabeth leaves the house to help Lucky start the car, Helena creeps into the room with a gun and announces her plan to get rid of Emily permanently. Emily tries to convince Helena that Emily shot Connor and not Nikolas, but Helena refuses to believe Emily. When Lucky and Liz return to the Safe House, they discover the room in a shambles and Emily missing. Liz and Lucky immediately presume that Helena has taken Emily.

Skye shows up at the cabin after hearing about Emily's abduction by Helena. Lucky looks around the grounds but finds no sign of Helena or Emily and realizes they are gone. Skye suggests they call the police in for help. Lucky says no to that idea since they are already in too deep with burying Connor's body and hiding other evidence that Emily killed him. A squad car shows up at the cabin. Elizabeth admits she called the cops for help since she doesn't think they can do this on their own anymore. Mac shows up with a uniformed cop and gets angry when they all admit what they did. Mac guesses that Luke was the one who came up with such a convoluted plan for them to get involved. He brings them all back to the station for questioning and to detain them. Lucky tells Mac he buried Connor's body and that the others had nothing to do with it. Skye tells Mac she saw Helena with her own eyes and that she is indeed alive.

Helena brings Emily to the Cassadine crypt on Spoon Island. She has her two goons drag her inside. Emily insists that she didn't kill Nikolas but killed Connor instead. Helena tells her she can find out either way who is really in prison and that it won't matter much since she plans to kill Emily either way. She tells her she is going to lock her up in the crypt until she starves to death. They leave her alone in the crypt. Emily finds a candleholder with a little bit of wax left. She also finds matches to light it with. She gathers a bunch of dry leaves to use as kindling and starts a fire. This alerts Helena's goons who come in to investigate. Emily knocks them over and tries to get away but they grab her and throw her on the floor and take the candlestick and matches with them.

After they leave, Emily reveals that she took a cell-phone out of one of their pockets. She dials the police station and asks for Mac. The cop who answers tells Mac that the person on the other line claims to be Emily. Mac takes the call. He can barely hear Emily's voice through all that static because of bad reception. He hears her mention a crypt and thinks she said Quartermaine crypt. He tells Lucky and them what she said on the phone. Lucky insists on going with Mac. Mac refuses to let him go anywhere and informs Lucky that he is off the force. Mac and Officer Murphy show up at the Quartermaine crypt and find it deserted. Mac calls the station to let them know there was no sign of Emily. Skye points out that Mac already admitted the connection with Emily was bad and may have misunderstood what Emily said. Skye suggests that if Helena was going to hold Emily anywhere it would be more private like the Cassadine crypt on Spoon Island. Lucky pretends to go along with what the cop tells him to do. Elizabeth and Skye don't understand Lucky's behavior until he catches the cop unaware and knocks him down and the three of them take off for Spoon Island.

Helena comes back inside the crypt to see Emily. She tells her that she had planned for Emily to starve to death and be pleading for food and water after a couple of days and she was going to watch her starve and die slowly but now she must change her plans and kill her now instead. Emily tells her that if she kills her Nikolas will never forgive her. Helena tells her she plans to show documentation to Nikolas that shows that she betrayed Nikolas by being alone with Connor and having an affair with him. Emily sits on the floor against the wall in defeat while she listens to Helena tell about her plans for when she kills her. Emily stands up and dares her to kill her since she will have no life without Nikolas in it anyway.

Helena is surprised by Emily's plea for her to kill her right now. Helena pulls her gun out again and aims it at Emily ready to kill her. Lucky shows up with a gun and points it at Helena and tells her to drop the gun. Helena grabs Emily and points the gun at Emily's head and tells Lucky to drop his gun. She tells them she plans to kill both of them right now and get rid of both of them. Lucky reluctantly puts his gun down and kicks toward Helena. Emily elbows Helena and knocks her down and the gun flies out of Helena's hand. Lucky gets in front of Emily and tells her to run. Lucky then goes for the gun at the same time Helena dives for it and they struggle for control of the gun. The gun goes off and Lucky reacts by going still while Emily watches in worry about which one of them was shot.

Lucky has been shot, Helena gloats that she won’t have time to mourn Lucky that she will will be dead too! Skye enters with a shotgun and orders Helena to drop the gun. Helena complies as Skye orders her out of the crypt. Emily calls for help, a helicopter arrives as Helena crows to Skye that she shot him at point blank range and he is surely dead. The police arrive  and demand that Skye drop her weapon. Helena takes this opportunity to once again escape. The paramedics report Lucky is in critical condition and he is rushed to GH.

Later, Steven comes out to tell Emily and Liz that Lucky has been stabilized and he is asking to see Emily. Alan, Skye, Ric, Dillon, and Georgie all arrive at GH. Skye brings them all update on the failed plot. Alan is upset that Skye followed a plot of Luke’s that put Emily in danger. Emily tells Lucky that Nikolas will go free thanks to him. Liz comes out and tells Alan off that Lucky saved Emily’s life that the bullet that shot Lucky was intended for Emily!
