Robert & Anna & Robin #7 October 31 – November 25, 1985 Sean complains to Frisco about Wu’s entire empire being built on slavery and he didn’t like being involved in it but didn’t have a choice, as he didn’t want to go back to prison. Frisco asks him if he thinks Robert will believe that? Sean suggests that Frisco save his own neck and turn Sean in. Frisco says he can’t do that after Sean saved his life. Sean observes he hasn’t been much of a friend to Frisco. Frisco says that since Wu took him out of jail without his consent that Sean is innocent of escaping from prison. Sean tells Frisco that he was the John Doe who put the ad in the paper for the ladies self defense class that rescued Anna. Anna complains about the number that Robert did on Robin by asking her to think about coming to leave with him in Australia. Anna is not happy about this. He has the search warrant for Wu’s and Anna tells him to go, as she can’t talk to him about Robin with the warrant burning a hole in his pocket. He tells her that he wants Robin to know that he is her father and he wants her to get to know and be comfortable with Holly. He just wants her to come and visit them in Australia, not as a permanent situation. Sean clues Frisco in on what they are going to have to do to bring Wu down. He warns him that they have to go in deep undercover and they won’t come up for air until they are finished. Frisco says that is what he has been doing. Sean clarifies that what Frisco has done up to now has just been basic training. He says now Frisco has to cut off all communication with Felicia, Tanya, and Tony as if he doesn’t he puts them all in jeopardy. Frisco tells Sean that he has to see Felicia once more before he does this. Felicia shows up at Scorpio’s to meet with Frisco. Anna tells her that she will them alone and not to worry that Robert is searching Wu’s office so he won’t be back anytime soon. Robert shows up at Wu’s with his search warrant and interrupts his council meeting. Robert makes veiled threats about wanting to get to know all them much better. He searches Wu’s desk and finds a handgun. He observes it smells as though it has recently been fired. After Robert leaves, Wu’s attorney questions Kim and asks him who he used it to shoot at? Kim admits he shot at Frisco Jones. Robert returns home and he is surprised to see Felicia there as he questions her, his instincts tell him that she was there meeting Frisco and that perhaps he has just left. He races out to try to follow Frisco. Anna helps Frisco to escape by delaying Robert. He tells her that Frisco has destroyed the team and he has Yang and Felicia taking orders from him and not Robert. He tells Anna that she is no longer working with him but against him as she is helping Frisco. She believes in Frisco and that he can bring down Wu and that Sean can be trusted. She warns Robert that his hatred of Sean is clouding his judgment. He points out that Sean almost killed him last summer (not to mention leaving Holly for dead). Burt shows up to arrest Kim as ballistics matched his gun to the bullet that Yang turned in to Robert that had shot Sean. Frisco returns back to the hideout and is very disturbed to find that Olin and Suki allowed Sean to leave. They are elated that Kim has been arrested. Sean shows up to see Anna and spends time with Robin. Cute scene as he sits and reads her a story. She tries to entice Sean to stay with promises of cookies and tea. Anna returns, Sean admits that he helped her that day Wu’s men confronted her at the Karate school. He informs Anna that Wu is only the tip of the iceberg and if the Asians get enough money to buy the cannery then Wu will lose his control over Port Charles. He warns her that the threat against Robin is very real and not to let her out of their sight. He tells her he is on their side and working with them and asks her to try to convince Robert of that. She doesn’t know if she will be successful, he just doesn’t want Robert to think he is a total scumbag. Burt has figured out that Robert is Robin’s father as he recognizes the look of a doting father. He warns Robert that he is overly emotionally involved in this case because of it and he needs to back off and get some perspective. Back home, Robert and Anna argue over telling Robin that they are her parents and Robin overhears. Anna wants to tell Robin but Robert refuses saying he doesn’t want to deal with that just yet and doesn’t want her to know. She looks so sad as though they don’t want her and she sneaks out of the house. She doesn’t hear Robert say that her knowing would place her in even more danger. Anna goes up to find Robin and becomes frantic, as does Robert, when she discovers Robin is missing. Robert organizes a massive search of the Asian Quarter and both he and Anna head down there to search. Meanwhile, a sad little Robin sits alone crying in the park. Great location scenes as Robert and Anna search through a real Chinatown. Anna fills Buzz in on Robin’s disappearance and tells him about the missing black pearls. Buzz suggests she ride along with him in the medical van through the Asian Quarter. A montage of scenes of Buzz and Anna walking through the Quarter (more location scenes) showing Robin’s picture around to everyone on the street and all of the vendors. Robert calls in the Green Shirts and deputizes them. He tells them he believes that Wu has kidnapped Robin. Robert has a search warrant for Kim’s apartment and Wu is not happy to see him again. They don’t find any clues about Robin but do find the insignia ring that Kim used to set up the Green Shirts. Sean’s wound has become infected and becomes very ill with a high fever. They get a message to Yang, while he is treating Sean; he tells Yang that he saved Tai once when Kim wanted to shoot him. Yang tells Frisco and Sean about Robin being kidnapped. Robin is hiding out in a linen closet at GH. She is eating food from the patient trays and has made a bed in a laundry bin. Jade overhears her grandfather talking about a red ledger that is kept in a secret place. Jade is able to get it to Yang and they ask Olin for help in deciphering the code. Olin meets Anna while filling in for Jade at the restaurant and tells Anna that she just overheard two guys talking about going to Yang’s house to retrieve the ledger. Anna calls Robert and he sends a squad car over there. Wu’s goons bust in and attack Yang, but the sound of police sirens scare them off before they find the ledger. Anna shows up and Yang happily shows her that they didn’t get what they were after. Anna, Yang and Jade arrive at Robert’s with the ledger in hand and tell him that they have the goods on Wu! Robert believes that with this evidence they will be able to put Wu and Kim away for a long time. Jade is feeling guilty for bringing evidence in against her own family. Yang praises her for being strong and brave and points out how many people she is helping. Robert also tells her how much he appreciates her help and he knows how hard this must be for her. Wu and Kim try to figure out who is helping Yang, they are sure it is someone that they trust who was involved in stealing the ledger. Kim vows to get the ledger back and find out who the traitor is and eliminate him! Wu’s man reports that there is no sign of Robin in the quarter and that Robert is indeed searching for her. Wu surmises that Donnelly must have taken her and is playing his own game. Robin visits her friend in the children’s ward. She swears her to secrecy and tells her that she has run away and is hiding in a closet down the hall. Robin tells her that her parents don’t love her enough to be her parents. Robin tells her how lonely it is in the closet. The little girl offers her to borrow her doll. Robin can’t believe that it is Cindy, her missing doll. She holds her tight and insists that her name isn’t Su Lin but Cindy! Robin demands to know who she got her doll from. She tells Robin that it is her friend’s doll and asks Robin to prove that Cindy is her doll. Robin tells her that she has special eyes and she removes the eyes to how her, they are “marbles” that she found at Love’s house. The little girl agrees that this must be Robin’s doll. The council is concerned about the unrest in the quarter. Wu assures them that when the cooperative fails to make the payment on the cannery that the unrest will end. He assures them that the Ancient One does not have the pearls and won’t be able to make the payment. Robert brings in the merchants to identify Kim in a lineup as the man who has been extorting money from them. The honorary mayor, Yim, shows up and his presence as Wu’s emissary insures no one will be identifying Kim. Robert catches on but plays dumb and has Kim followed straight to Wu. Yim reports to Wu his actions during the lineup and that his cover is not blown. After he leaves, Wu is very annoyed as his presence was not necessary and he is a fool, that the merchants would never have identified Kim. Now his cover is blown and he is a liability for them. He orders Kim to take care of it and Yim soon turns up dead. The Green Shirts report to Robert that they have searched the Asian Quarter and that there is no sign of Robin or the pearls. They report that the people are very willing to help, as they know how important the pearls are to their future. They suggest to Robert that they search the catacombs, good idea as this is where Frisco and Sean are hiding. The woman who stole the doll from Robin learns that her daughter has loaned it to her sick friend and arrives as GH to get the doll back (Mr. Wu had warned her not to let anyone see it). She is very worried, as no one can know that it was taken out of her house. Robin overhears them talking about getting the doll back and Robin tells her doll that they have to get out of there. The doll thief questions the little girl who says it was Robin’s doll and that Robin proved it when she took out the special black eyes that she found in her mother’s house. The woman now knows that Robin has the black pearls. A nurse recognizes Robin as she is sneaking out of GH. Anna is with Buzz when he gets word that Robin has been spotted on the fourth floor. Buzz also tells her about the missing dinner trays and the figure that Robin has been hiding out in the hospital and eating well at least. They search the hospital and then head to the streets to look for Robin. Unbeknownst to them, Robin has hidden in the back of the medical van and sneaks out on one of their stops in the Asian Quarter. Robin runs down the street in the rain, and runs into the Ancient One and drops her doll. She complains that the doll’s leg is broken. Robin is soaked and he wipes her face and takes her inside to dry out and get something warm to eat. He asks her about her family and she tells him that she lives alone and he realizes that she is a runaway. She also tells him that her mother and father don’t love her and don’t even want her to know that they are her parents. He is shocked that she lives alone and says that her parents must have had a very good reason for not telling her. He believes that they do love her as she is very loveable and as her new grandfather he is already starting to love her, as she is easy to love. She doesn’t have a grandfather but has friends who do and likes the idea. She tells him about her grandmother who she misses very much. She asks him if he can fix her dolls broken leg? Anna tells Buzz that she believes Robin must have overheard her and Robert talking about being her parents and this is what led to her running away. Robert arrives and Anna fills him in on Robin running away and that she has been hiding out at GH. They are relieved that Robin is alive and well but heartbroken that she would be so hurt as to feel she had to leave home. Anna and Buzz stop at the Tea House, and Buzz shows her the hair clip he found in the van. Anna recognizes that it is Robin’s and she was wearing it the day she disappeared. They figure that she had stowed away in the van. Robert arrives and Buzz tells him the locations the van stopped and Robert orders an intensive search of those areas. A sad, wet Robert mournfully walks the deserted streets of the rainy Asian Quarter. The Green Shirts arrived equipped with walkie-talkies to help aid in the search. Anna heads back to GH and the every helpful Buzz acts as a liaison so that she can question the hospital staff about Robin. The Ancient one tells Robin about the dream of his people for their fleet of fishing vessels. He tells her that he has lost the key to his people’s dream and there are bad people who don’t want his people to be free. They go outside just long enough for one of Wu’s men to see Robin and the Ancient One. She asks what the key looks like. He shows her the two Jade Buddha’s and tells her that they were stolen and says that inside there were two black pearls that were not returned and they are the key to his people’s future. Robin has a flashback of finding the black pearls in the Buddha’s and putting them into Cindy as her eyes. She overhears him say that without the pearls his people are doomed. He tells her that it will take a miracle to get the pearls back now. She asks what a miracle is and he says that it is a great surprise, a gift from God. He leaves her so that she can take a nap. She looks sadly at Cindy and tells her that she didn’t know how important the pearls were. She promises Cindy that she will get her new eyes. Robin removes the pearls and puts them back in the Buddha’s. She puts them to bed with Cindy and covers them up, and pleased she comments that her new grandfather will be so surprised. Kim sneaks into the Ancient One’s apartment and steals the doll and the Buddha’s. Robin wakes up and sees him sneaking out and yells at him. On the street, he is confronted by the Green Shirts. He gets away and throws the doll down and hides the Buddha’s on a vendor’s shelf. Kim calls his grandfather and happily reports that he has the black pearls as he found them hidden in the Buddha’s. Wu contacts the ship coming in from Asia with his shipment, he tells them they have the pearls and orders radio silence until the ship docks. The Ancient One and Robin come down the street, Robin sees her doll lying there and she hurries towards it. The Ancient One sees his Buddha’s on the shelf nearby, they take their belongings and hurry away. Kim returns and is desperate to find the Buddha’s; the shopkeeper tells him that the Ancient One retrieved them. Robert arrives to meet Yang and Jade at the Ancient One’s apartment; they find his bodyguard locked in a closet. He tells them that the Ancient One has left with the little girl named Robin. The Ancient One and Robin are quickly walking down the dock area to safety (more location scenes). Buzz and Anna arrive down on the docks, searching for Robin, just missing them. Back at GH, Robert tells Anna that Robin is with the Ancient One. They believe he realizes she is a runaway and is protecting her. They return home and find Philomena collapsed on the floor from a heart attack. She is rushed to GH and is in very serious condition. Anna worries and tells Robert that she couldn’t love her more if she was her real mother. Robin tells the Ancient One about Philomena. Yang finds his grandfather’s flag that symbolizes freedom for their people and he leads a demonstration in the streets. The Ancient One hears Yang’s voice encouraging their people and he is proud of the man he has become. The council is very unhappy that Wu had Yim killed without checking with them first. He assures them that there was no time in consulting with them and calms them that the plan is going according to schedule and that he is sure the Ancient One does not have the pearls. Afterwards when Kim tells him he laced Yim’s tea with poison, Wu realizes this is the same poison he used to kill Josh and that Kim can now be linked to two murders! Frisco overhears this and wants to tell Robert immediately. He runs out as Sean yells at him to stop. He catches him outside and tells him that he is going to blow everything they have worked towards, that they are onto something big and he has to stay undercover a bit longer. Kim tells Olin and a group of sewing women that there salaries are cut another 25%. The other ladies don’t want to jeopardize the income but Olin has had it and encourages them to all unite. She says that if they lead the way, the men will follow them. Amy gives Buzz a message that was left for the medical van crew. It asks for the medical lady to ride with the van today, Anna is hopeful that this will be information about Robin. More cool location scenes as Anna and Buzz cruise the Asian Quarter in the medical van. They see Olin and she tells Anna that there are several merchants who will testify against Kim. Kim is also seen walking the streets collecting his extortion money as Wu watches from a restaurant terrace. Buzz is sure that Olin is the source of the message. Robert calls in several pharmacists from the Asian Quarter and informs them that there have been two cyanide poisonings and asks them for their help. Robert asks Anna about Buzz’s interest in her. She is oblivious and he points out that she is a beautiful woman. Sean and Frisco listen in as Wu and Kim talk about their ultimate plan and why the cannery is so important to their organization. They plan on taking the cocaine shipment from Asia, canning it into cat food cans, and Wu promises Kim that he can have Sean’s portion of the profits. Wu wants to know where Kim will hide it and he indicates directly below the bar in the catacombs. They hide as Kim stashes the cocaine. Suki shows his inexperience by talking while the plug is off their listening hole and Wu hears them. When Kim returns, Wu tells him that someone is hiding below and he believes it is Sean and Frisco eavesdropping on him! Kim sets off an explosion sealing Suki and Frisco in the catacombs. Wu is later concerned about the cocaine that was hidden there. Kim gloats that there is no way to tie the cocaine to them. Frisco is horrified to realize they are trying to bury them alive! Sean has followed Kim to the warehouse and when he returns to the catacombs, he finds the entrance buried with the aftermath of the explosion. He screams Frisco and Suki’s names but doesn’t hear any response. He takes off running to get help from Robert. A filthy Sean arrives, and Robert orders him arrested. He gasps out that he is there to save Frisco’s life. He tells him about the cave in and he offers to draw a map to show where they are located. He is worried about them having enough air. Sean tells him that he has been working with Frisco to get evidence against Wu and he has it! He tells him that he has found out that Wu plans on using the cannery to sell cocaine, that he was there and taped Kim when he made the cocaine buy. Robert refuses to take Felicia with him, he asks her to stay there and wait. He leaves a handcuffed Sean under Anna’s watch. Felicia runs out to get Tony and tell him about the cave in. Robert heads to the entrance with a crew who begin digging. They warn him that there could be a further cave in at any minute as the walls are very unstable. Just before the get to Frisco, Felicia and Tony arrive and are thrilled when Frisco is pulled to safety. Frisco, barely able to breathe, manages to ask, “What took you so long?” Frisco hands over the cocaine stash and Back at Robert’s, Sean tells Anna she is his only hope at redeeming himself. He wants her to free him so he can repair the damaged tape, which is his proof against Kim. Sean is very worried about Frisco; he has become very fond of him in the past few weeks and comments that he reminds him a lot of Robert. Once back at the Scorpio’s, Frisco assures Robert that Sean is on their side and he has now saved his life twice. He asks Robert to release Sean. Robert argues that Sean is a wanted criminal. Frisco says that Robert is the most honorable man he knows and asks him to believe Sean and release him from the handcuffs. Anna has tried to repair the tape and plays the tape for Robert. Sean grins as Robert listens to the evidence that Kim was making a cocaine buy. Robert tells Sean that he believes him and then pulls out the cocaine that Frisco found in the catacombs. Robert offers to try to bring Sean back on the team and says he will call the judge and set up a hearing for tomorrow and he will tell the judge that he needs Sean’s help. One of the council members is very unhappy with Wu as his company is being investigated for the sale of cyanide, which was used in Josh’s murder. They are even less happy with the report of the cave in and the loss of the cocaine. Ginny calls and asks Robert about him being seen with Frisco. He tells her that yes Frisco is fine and he has been cleared of all charges. The man who hit Tai has come forward. Ginny wants to interview Frisco and clear his name publicly. Robert agrees that this is a good idea. Burt gets word that the judge has agreed to Robert’s request to use Sean’s assistance. Later, after everyone has gone home, Anna starts to go to pieces, as she is so worried about Robin’s safety. Robert tells her that he needs her and asks her to hold it together just a little longer. Suki and Olin show up and tell Robert about all of the merchants who will testify against Kim and Wu. Robert is relieved to hear it and will set up the line up. Anna begs her if she knows anything about Robin’s whereabouts. Olin is sorry to hear that no one has heard anything about Robin, not a word about her. Anna is increasingly worried that Wu will become desperate now that the Asian people will testify against Wu and when Wu realizes he is losing out on the cannery that he will lash out at the Ancient One and Robin may get caught in the crossfire. Robert assures her that he will find Robin today! Anna is worried that Robin doesn’t want to return to them and that is why she hasn’t told the Ancient One who she is. Robert believes that Robin will understand once they find her and tell her the truth. The Ancient One tells Robin that he has to go out today to do something for his people. She worries as he has told her how dangerous it is for him. She asks him to find her grandmother. He tells her that he tried to find Philomena Saltini in the phone book but no luck. He asks if there is anyone else who might know where she is. She tells him about Buzz and he says he will try to find him. He tells her that now she has a huge family, as everyone in the Asian Quarter will love her as she found the pearls. He demonstrates the secret knock and warns her not to open the door unless she hears that knock. Wu is organizing his team and wants everyone on the street looking for the Ancient One and the little girl. Kim orders to grab her as well as they can use her for leverage over Robert. The Ancient One meets an old friend and tells him he needs to find Olin. Suki arrives to take him to Olin. The Ancient One tells Olin that he has heard of her courage and that today they will see the people’s dream come true. She talks Slang and he doesn’t understand a word she says! She tells him about their plans to put Wu and Kim in jail for victimizing the people. He asks her to get a message to Yang, telling him to meet at Mr. Barrington’s office at 3:00. Olin is worried about him being out on the street. He shows her the pearls and he asks her to hold the pearls in case something happens to him. He asks her to get the pearls to Mr. Barrington’s office in case he is captured, he urges her that the dream must go on and the pearls are the future. One of Wu’s men sees the Ancient One and tries to tail him but several people in the quarter put up obstacles to slow him down. Suki arrives to tell Olin about the increased risk now that the Ancient One has been spotted. Olin orchestrates an intricate passing of the pearls from one trusted friend to the next. He returns to Robin and tells her that he has learned that the medical van will be on the docks today and when they hear the bell they will go to Buzz and ask him to take Robin home to her family. The District Attorney is not happy about Sean being out on bail and wants him incarcerated. The judge decides to grant bail after Robert personally assures him that Sean will be show up to his trial. Robert asks Burt to send the police van for Olin and her friends for the police line up. Burt arrives and takes Kim in for the line up. Olin and her friends identify Kim as an extortionist and he is arrested. Olin tells Robert about seeing the Ancient One and that he asked her about the medical van. Robert realizes this must have something to do with Robin and he calls and tries to get through to the van but the line is busy. Robert demands that the operator interrupt the call that it is an emergency. He is unable to get through as the phone in the van is down. Robert asks Burt to keep trying to get through to the van. Robin hears the bells on the van and they head out to the street just as the van pulls up. Anna sees her little girl and gets out and they run into each other’s arms (a classic GH moment!). Anna picks up her daughter, hugs her tightly, the pain of their separation, the relief, the joy of this reunion evident on her face. Unfortunately it is short lived as Wu’s men grab Anna and take Robin and the Ancient One. Anna assures her daughter that it is just another game and Robin blithely accepts strangers taking her away once again. Anna’s capture karate chops her and puts her out of commission. Kim is out on bail and his grandfather tells him that the have captured the Ancient One and Robin. Wu points out to Kim that he has a perfect alibi in the kidnapping as Kim was at the PCPD. Robert asks Burt to send some men down to the docks, as he is worried that they can’t get through to the van. Olin tries to tell Robert about the pearls but he is in a hurry to get out to the docks. Anna calls and cries that she had Robin in her arms but that they took her and the Ancient One. Robert rushes to the docks. Anna is about ready to collapse. She has a bruise on her forehead and her vision is blurry and she leans on Buzz. Olin returns home to find her apartment torn up and Suki lying on the floor. Suki tells her he came to warn her that the Ancient One and the little girl were snatched off of the docks. Suki is worried about the pearls but she tells him that the Ancient One didn’t have the pearls that he had given them to her. Suki worries that she is now in danger, but she tells him she has passed it off to one of her friends. Anna stops and asks people if they have seen Robin. They assure her that the word is out and they are all looking for Robin. Robert arrives and starts barking orders to barricade and cordoned off the entire quarter. Robert takes her in his arms and comforts her, she tells him about Robin running towards her and calling her “mummy” and that she had her in her arms. Robert has talked to Mr. Barrington about extending the deal to sell the cannery to the Asian cooperative for another 10 days. Mr. Wu is furious and warns Barrington that he has an army of lawyers and he will own the cannery. Barrington says that the police have brought pressure on him and they have lawyers too. Robert sets up a headquarters down in the Asian Quarter to conduct the search. He takes over a bar that is owned by Wu and the manager is not at all happy with him being there. Yang shows up and is concerned to have learned that his grandfather and Robin have been kidnapped. He offers to stay and help in any way he can. Robert has Burt bring Wu to his makeshift headquarters. When Wu arrives, Buzz has to restrain Anna from kicking his butt. Wu points out that both he and Kim have alibis for the day. Robert growls to Wu that if one hair on his daughter’s head is harmed that Wu is a dead man! After Wu leaves, Robert surmises that Wu is acting like a man who is holding all of the cards. Burt arrives and tells him that there have been reports of the apartment’s of those who ID Kim have been ransacked. Robert is disturbed to hear the retaliation has begun. Meanwhile, the pearls are continually passed amongst the people in the quarter to keep them safely hidden. Robert decides to move his headquarters back to his communications room. As soon as he leaves, the bartender opens a secret door and reveals that Robin and the Ancient One were hidden in the next room. The next morning, Anna tries to get Robert to open the door to his communications room as he has been in there all night. Sean reminds her that Robert will be at the computer for hours until he finds some answers. Anna is about ready to lose it, as she can’t stand being separated from Robin any longer. She beats herself up to Sean that its all her fault for not telling Robin that she was her mother, for not telling Robert for all of those years. She collapses into his arms in tears as he comforts her. Monica arrives and tells her that Buzz is in trouble with the board for using the medical van to look for Robin and asks Anna to help. She agrees to speak to the board on Buzz’s behalf. Monica takes a moment before she leaves to flirt with Sean and tells him that being on the run seems to have agreed with him (her way of telling Sean he is looking hot?). Anna stops in to see Philomena and she has to make excuses for why she can’t talk to Robin. Philomena is insistent but they say there are no phone privileges until she is better. They have told Philomena that Robin is home safe and sound to protect her from any further stress as she recovers from her heart attack. They tell her that Robin has a bad cold and is home in bed. Anna testifies on Buzz’s behalf before a whose who of General Hospital. Back home, they all eagerly await Robert’s return from his enforced seclusion wondering what he could be working on that has kept him occupied so long. Sean wants them all to stay close, as when Robert comes out he may need them all to go into immediate action, so Frisco, Felicia, Sean, Buzz and Anna wait. Sean uses the time to question Anna about the events around Robin’s kidnapping. **The End** |
