Anthony's health took a turn for the worse during surgery, but Patrick
managed to save the man from certain death. While the brain surgery
progressed, Patrick touched on a part of the brain that made Anthony's leg
move. The doctors and nurses were surprised. They all agreed that the
movement would have been impossible for a paralyzed man. Guests were
assembled at the church and waiting for the wedding to start. When they
realized that significant time had passed, they began talking about the
noticeable absence of the groom. Epiphany told Elizabeth that she would
not have the patience for a husband like Patrick, who was late for his own
wedding. Elizabeth reminded Epiphany that Robin and Patrick loved each
other. Elizabeth was confident that the wedding would proceed.
Robin and her family were gathered in the bridal room of the church.
Everyone but Robin, was concerned about Patrick's disappearance. Each grew
more certain as the minutes ticked by, that Patrick did not intend to
marry Robin. Robin disagreed. She had no idea where Patrick was, but she
was definite that Patrick had not changed his mind. To ease everyone's
fears, Robin called the hospital. Unfortunately, she was told that Patrick
had checked out half an hour before Robin had called. Robin remained
steadfast in her belief that Patrick would make it to the church in time
to marry her. She shooed everyone out of the room so that she could change
into her wedding dress. Radiant in her wedding gown, Robin went to speak
to her guests. She thanked them for their patience and promised them that
Patrick would arrive soon. Edward wasn't convinced and thought to save
Robin from herself. He stood up, with the intention of whisking Robin out
of the church before she was humiliated, but Mac stopped him.
All heads turned when Patrick ran into the church, calling out Robin's
name. Robin beamed as her groom joined her in the front of the church and
apologized for being late. He explained that he had been delayed by
emergency surgery. Robin and Patrick were set to begin the ceremony but
Mac piped up. He refused to allow Robin to marry Patrick without first
walking Robin down the aisle. Mac took a few moments to share some tender
words with Robin before he escorted her to her future husband. Father
Coates began the ceremony, but before the happy couple could exchange
vows, Robin's eyes widened. She turned to Patrick and told him that her
water had broken; Robin was in labor.
As Robin and Patrick began to say their vows, Robin's water suddenly broke
and she doubled over in pain with her first contraction. The minister
asked if there was a doctor in the crowd, and the majority of the guests
stood up. Kelly rushed to Robin and told everyone Robin was her patient.
Coleman helped to usher guests out of the church, while Kelly told Robin
and Patrick she didn't want to wait for an ambulance. Anna offered to
drive the limo, which turned out to be an interesting and scary ride. As
soon as they arrived at the hospital, Patrick doted on Robin while Kelly
started getting vitals. Kelly noticed the umbilical cord was being
compromised, so they were going to try to float the cord. As they
attempted that procedure, Robin told Patrick she thought they needed to
rethink their living arrangements. She even thought they should get a
house before their little girl realized her bedroom was a closet. When
Kelly realized the baby was in distress, she immediately yelled out for an
operating room. Patrick and Robin declared their love for each other and
their faith in the hospital staff. Mac, Anna, and Maxie panicked as they
waited for each update. Liz did her best to keep them informed.
Robin and the baby were not doing well. The umbilical cord was wrapped
around the baby's neck and it was strangling the baby every time Robin had
a contraction. Patrick was in the room to support Robin, and Elizabeth
assisted Dr. Kelly Lee, who advised against an immediate C-section because
of Robin's HIV status and the danger to the baby. Instead Kelly advised a
drug that would let the umbilical cord unwind and make it safer for the
baby in the birth canal. Outside in the waiting room, Anna told Mac a
story about a time that Robin had been sick and had wanted an old toy that
Anna had not been able to produce because she had thrown it out as trash
only a week before. She said that she felt helpless then and equally
helpless while her daughter was in the delivery room. Spinelli brought
coffee. Mac was grouchy, but Anna was thankful for his kindness. Maxie was
a bundle of nerves. When she got into it with Epiphany, Matt pointed out
that he thought she was just worried and scared and looking for some place
to put her anger. Maxie apologized to both Epiphany and Matt then sat down
and held Spinelli's hand.
Anna went to see Robin, who was very fearful. Anna gave her a pep talk
about how mothers had to give their strength to their children. When she
was done, Kelly asked her to leave so that she could begin the C-section.
Outside, Anna told Mac that even though she had been strong for Robin, she
was very scared for both her daughter and her grandchild. Before the
surgery, Robin told Patrick to do whatever was necessary to save the baby.
The C-section was complicated, but Kelly was able to successfully remove
the umbilical cord from the baby's neck and deliver the baby. There was no
sound from the baby as Kelly and Elizabeth rubbed it with towels. Robin
wondered aloud if her baby was breathing.
Liz came out of the operating room and told Robin's family that both mama
and baby were fine. Only family could go in to see them, though. Spinelli
bowed out, and Anna, Mac, and Maxie prepared to go see their newest
relative. Maxie reminded Matt that he could also go in, but he didn't want
to interfere quite yet. Once everyone had seen the baby, Robin and Patrick
introduced the girl as Emma Grace Scorpio Drake. As Patrick held his
little girl, he noticed a nick on her ear. The baby had been exposed to
Robin's HIV. Outside the room, Mac and Anna confessed their fears to each
other. Anna admitted that the chances of Emma getting HIV were low, and
Mac reminded her that Emma would be getting a shot to combat the HIV.
Meanwhile, Maxie confided in Spinelli about Emma's nick and the chances of
her contracting HIV. Maxie was looking forward to getting her niece all
sorts of fashionable clothes and telling her about Aunt Georgie. Spinelli
hugged Maxie and tried
to console her.
Patrick came back into Robin's recovery room and told her their daughter
had scored a nine on her Apgar test. She was getting her shot to combat
HIV as they spoke. Robin couldn't believe Patrick was so calm, but he told
her they would find out soon enough if their daughter would have to battle
HIV. He had faith that Robin would be a wonderful mother and help her
daughter through the disease. Robin still couldn't get over the fact that
she could have caused her daughter such damage. They talked about the
instant love they had for Emma as soon as they saw the heartbeat and laid
eyes on her. Soon, Epiphany was rolling Emma back into the room in her
bassinet. She told Patrick and Robin that all the nurses had fallen in
love with little Emma. She had been given the shot and was ready for her
bottle. Epiphany reminded them not to worry if she didn't drink the entire
bottle, then she left the two parents to share their joy in privacy.
As Robin held Emma, Patrick told his little girl what a brave mother she
had. Robin said she wasn't all that courageous and fell through the cracks
every now and then. They both made promises to their daughter about her
future and making sure she had a happy life. Soon, Anna came in to see her
granddaughter and was able to hold her for the first time. Patrick left to
get some water for Robin, and Anna told baby Emma she would be there for
any confessions when the child didn't want to go to her parents. Robin
smiled but said she didn't like that comment. Anna told her daughter that
Robin would never stop worrying over her new baby girl. Robin would worry
any time Emma fell down, got picked on at school, or even got a bad grade.
That was just part of being a parent.
Soon, Mac and Maxie came in to see Emma. Anna excused herself while Mac
held the little girl. Maxie admitted she wasn't a baby person, but she
would make an exception for little Emma. Maxie babbled on about how cute
Emma was since her splotchiness had gone away. Mac promised the little
girl he would be the most doting uncle, and Maxie said Emma would have
Aunt Georgie as a guardian angel. Robin smiled as she watched Maxie and
Mac with her little girl. Anna left the hospital room and went to the
waiting area where Spinelli was sitting. He handed her a handkerchief when
Anna started crying. After all of Anna's missions, she couldn't help but
cry because there wasn't anything she could do to help Robin and Emma.
There was no cure for HIV. Spinelli reminded Anna that the risk of Emma
contracting HIV was low. Anna remembered the facts and couldn't believe
she had been so silly, but Spinelli said she had just been thinking with
her heart. Anna brought Spinelli
in to see Emma, and Robin asked Spinelli if he would be Emma's honorary
Uncle. Maxie thought Spinelli could also be little Emma's tutor, but Mac
wasn't sure that was such a great idea. They all started talking about
what they could teach the little girl. Kelly walked in and interrupted
them with good news. Emma had not contracted HIV. Everyone congratulated
each other until they heard beeping, Robin was crashing!
Patrick worked frantically to get Robin's heart started as Mac, Anna,
Maxie, and Spinelli watched helplessly from the hallway. After a frantic
effort from the medical team, Robin was stabilized, but the news was grim.
Robin's blood was not clotting and she was slowly bleeding to death. Dr.
Kelly took over and sent Patrick away. He did not want to go, but Matt
helped him out of the room. Patrick shared the unhappy news with Anna,
Maxie, Mac, and Spinelli. Maxie was the first to go in to see Robin.
She told Robin all the reasons that she should live. The most important,
said Maxie, was Robin's healthy, HIV negative, daughter, Emma. Anna went
to see Robin next. She reminded Robin of some of the times they had shared
when Robin was a little girl. She told Robin how much she loved her and
wanted her to live. Patrick went to see his new daughter Emma. He told her
that he loved, her but he was really worried that he would be a bad dad it
anything happened to Robin. Matt, who had been listening comforted
Patrick. He told Patrick that all he had to do to be a good dad was to put
Emma first. Patrick recognized good advice and they had a bonding moment.
Patrick sat by Robin's bedside and told her how full his life had become
since meeting her. He told her that he loved her. Robin remained
unresponsive as Patrick begged her to live.
Spinelli offered to get coffee or soda for Mac, who was grateful for
Spinelli's support. When Mac shared his fears that Robin was again about
to be denied happiness when it was within her grasp, Spinelli told Mac in
Spinelli-speak that his observations of Robin showed her to be
strong-willed and tenacious, and he believed that she would pull through.
Mac responded that he did not understand anything that Spinelli had said,
but he did know that it came from Spinelli's heart and he was thankful for
it. Jason stepped out of the elevator and inquired after Robin. Maxie told
Jason that Emma was healthy, but Robin's condition remained grave because
of a blood clotting disorder.
Patrick spoke to an unconscious Robin about his hopes and plans for their
future together. He thanked her for opening his eyes to a new world, but
confessed that he could not live in it without her. As he urged Robin to
wake up for their daughter's sake, Jason knocked on the door. Patrick
stood up and invited Jason into the room. When he told Jason about Robin's
condition, Jason offered him hope. He told Patrick that Sam had suffered
from the same condition and had made a full recovery. Patrick appreciated
Jason's attempt to ease his worries and asked Jason to stay with Robin for
a few moments while he stepped away. After Patrick left, Jason sat
down at Robin's bedside and took her hand in his. He reminisced about
their past and the impact that Robin had on his life. He was interrupted
by Anna's arrival. As Jason gathered his things and prepared to leave,
Anna stopped him. She told him what he was to Robin and assured him that
she would let Robin know that he had stopped by for a visit.
Alone with her daughter, Anna tucked the blankets around Robin and fussed
over her. Patrick entered the room a few minutes later, pushing Emma's
bassinette. He explained that it was Emma's feeding time and offered Anna
the opportunity to give her granddaughter a bottle. Anna realized that
Patrick extended the invitation because he was afraid to do the task
himself. She assured Patrick that he was up to giving his daughter a
bottle, and left. Patrick carefully scooped Emma into his arms and sat
down on the foot of Robin's bed. When he offered Emma the bottle, she
latched onto it and began drinking. Patrick spoke softly to his daughter
while she fed. When he looked up, Robin's eyes were open and watching
them.
Before Anna and Patrick went in to see Robin, Anna told him to stop
thinking like a doctor and start thinking like a husband and father. She
told him to get an optimistic attitude and hold on to it for Robin's sake.
Once they went in to see Robin, Anna heard resignation in Robin's voice.
She sent Patrick to get Emma, then told Robin that she had to stop
thinking that she was going to die and needed to summon up every bit of
strength and stubbornness she had in her. Anna told Robin that she had to
live for her child and she had to live so that all her dreams would come
true. Robin realized that Anna was right. When Patrick wheeled Emma
in, Anna left so that the three of them could share some family time.
Robin told Patrick and Emma that she was determined to live so that the
three of them could have a great life together.
Patrick asked Robin if she was getting tired and wanted him to take Emma.
Robin said she was fine and told her daughter that Daddy had control
issues. Patrick said it was okay for Robin to make fun of him. He was just
relieved she had pulled through her recent medical scare. He didn't know
what he would have done without her. Robin assured him he would have
figured it out, but Patrick wasn't so sure. Later, Matt stopped by to
visit Robin and told her he visited Emma regularly. The instant family he
had received was still strange, but it was getting easier. Robin needed to
ask Matt for a favor, but he jumped to conclusions and said he wasn't sure
he would be a good babysitter. Robin said she needed a babysitter but not
for whom he thought. Patrick was driving her crazy with his hovering, and
Robin wanted Matt to help provide a distraction. Matt smiled and appeared
as if he would help his future sister-in-law.
Patrick came back to check on his family and caught Robin talking to Emma
about the little girl's daddy. Patrick said Robin had been busted, because
he knew Matt would never voluntarily ask Patrick to take over one of his
cases. As they talked, Epiphany came in and said Robin and Emma were being
released and could go home finally. Patrick slowly pushed a wheelchair
holding Robin and Emma to the desk. Epiphany told him to sign the papers
so Robin and the baby could leave, and to stop obsessing. Robin,
Elizabeth, and Epiphany shared a laugh at Patrick's overprotective
behavior as he wheeled his ladies into the elevator for the trip home.
Patrick's overprotectiveness continued on the ride home. With Robin and
the baby securely strapped into the back seat of his new mini van, Patrick
dove home at 15 miles per hour in a 35 mile per hour zone. Robin delighted
in pointing out his eccentric behavior. Patrick did speed up a little and
eventually they got home. Once inside the apartment, Emma needed changing,
so Patrick did the dirty deed. When that was done, and Emma had gone to
sleep, a very tired Patrick was eager for some rest, and noted that the
baby book said that newborns slept for 12 to 18 hours a day. He told Robin
that they ought to be able to catch some rest while she slept. He also
told Robin how much he loved her. Just as Robin said that it seemed like
newborns only slept an hour at a time, Emma started crying. Robin and
Patrick laughed.
Patrick was home with Robin, but Robin told him to go to work and let her
take care of the baby. Patrick was reluctant, but left for General
Hospital after Robin insisted that she needed time to bond with Emma. At
the nurses' station, Epiphany and Elizabeth welcomed Patrick back. Robin
was home alone with Emma when she Emma started crying. Despite Robin's
best efforts, she could not get Emma to quiet down. Patrick kept asking
for baby advice while Elizabeth tried to discuss patient business. Finally
Epiphany told Patrick that while the entire staff was very happy for him
and Robin, they actually preferred doing medical business rather than baby
business. She advised him to go home if he could not keep his mind on his
job. As Patrick went back to the charts, his cell phone rang. It was Robin
telling him that she could not quiet Emma. As he left, Epiphany told him
to go be with his family. Patrick smiled as he got on the elevator and
said that he like the sound of the words, "my family."
Patrick arrived home to a distraught Robin, who feared that she was
already causing trauma to Emma because she could not quiet her. Emma
stopped crying as soon as Patrick picked her up, which made Robin felt
even worse about her ability to bond with her child.
November 26th, 2008 Robin's Dream Episode - Patrick arrived home
after a hard day at the hospital. Robin was tired from her day, also. She
apologized for smelling like baby spit-up. Patrick understood. When Robin
told him that Uncle Mac had bought a huge turkey for the following day,
Patrick reminisced about the days when he had left town for the holidays
to find a warmer climate and chase women. Robin remembered their first
meeting, when she had surprised Patrick in the shower with a nurse. Robin
laughed about how nice it would be to drop Emma off with Mac and Anna,
then come home and sleep for a few hours. Patrick agreed. Robin lay her
head in his lap and started dreaming.
In Robin's dream, Epiphany, Kelly, and Lanie were waiting for her at the
nurses' station when she returned from France. They told her about the new
doctor, Patrick Drake, whom she met for the first time when she walked in
on him and Leyla, both naked, kissing passionately while showering in the
staff locker room. Patrick and Robin continued to clash. Chief of staff,
Alan Quartermaine, asked them to work out their issues. He also hired a
new doctor, Matt Hunter, who turned out to be Patrick's half brother.
Patrick was not very nice to Matt, and second-guessed him at every
opportunity, even after Matt found and corrected a serious error on
Patrick's part. Patrick went to Jake's bar and met Coleman. He also met
Carly, and they started dating. Robin started dating Matt, who took her to
the Metro Court for dinner. Patrick and Carly were also there. Robin was
very pleased to see Carly dump Patrick. When she went over to Patrick's
table to taunt him, Matt
walked away. Maxie, sporting very long hair, came to the nurses' station
to see Robin, but met Matt instead. They started flirting, but when Robin
showed up, apologized, and asked Matt to give her another chance, he was
all for it. Patrick went to Jake's and hit it off with Elizabeth, and they
started dating.
When Robin and Matt were ready to take their relationship to the next
level, Matt told Robin that he knew all about her HIV status, thanks to
Maxie. Robin was impressed that he was prepared and not scared off. Robin
had a hard time understanding what Elizabeth saw in Patrick. Elizabeth
told her that he was really just a sweet lost little boy inside. Later,
when Patrick lost a patient, Robin comforted him and told him that he had
done all he could. Patrick was impressed, because he had expected Robin's
scorn-or at least an "I told you so." Robin was equally
impressed when Patrick asked for her opinion on a case. Later, in the
lounge, Robin told Matt that they should consider getting to know his
brother better, because she was beginning to think that she had misjudged
Patrick. Patrick said the same thing about Robin to Elizabeth. Elizabeth
broke it off with Patrick. She told Patrick that though she had fun with
him, she wanted a man who wanted to be a father to her child. She wanted a
family and she wanted to be with a man who wanted the same things that she
did. Patrick was stunned to be dumped for the second time. Epiphany asked
Robin to drop off a sweater that Maxie had left in the lounge. Robin
arrived at Crimson and found Maxie in a passionate kiss. When she broke
away from her lover, it was Matt.
Robin went immediately to Jake's for comfort and found Patrick there. They
commiserated with each other and shared a dance. Just as Robin said,
"They're playing our song," she awoke to the sound of Emma
crying. Patrick brought Emma to Robin. They both held their child
and Patrick told Robin that even though life had not turned out as he
expected, he would not trade the life he had with her and Emma for
anything. Robin felt equally blessed, and both agreed that no matter what,
fate would always see to it that the people who were meant to be together
would get together. Patrick proposed to Robin again. She said yes and he
suggested a Christmas wedding. However, since it was Emma's first
Christmas, they decided to be married the week after Christmas.
A tired Patrick left an equally tired Robin at home with a sleeping Emma
and went to work. As soon as Patrick left, Emma started crying. Robin
talked to her and tried to figure out why Emma did not respond to her
ministrations. A few minutes later Maxie showed up. She and Robin managed
to get Emma to sleep. Maxie sent a very grubby Robin off for a shower and
told her to wear some cute clothes so that Emma would get the correct
fashion message. While Robin was in the shower, Emma started crying, so
Maxie called Spinelli, who came over and told Emma a classic Greek story.
She fell asleep again and Spinelli put her down. His cell phone rang. When
Spinelli answered it, it was Jason wanting to know about Russian
properties in the area and any weapons that they might have. Robin came
out of her room just in time to hear Spinelli tell Jason how many and what
kind of guns the Russians had. She quickly ushered Spinelli and Maxie out
the door, but told him he was welcome back as long as he did not talk
about guns in front of Emma. As soon as they left, Emma started crying
again.
Patrick arrived at the nurses' station and showed off pictures of Emma to
Epiphany, Leyla, and Matt, who made appropriate new baby comments. When
Patrick seemed distracted, Epiphany cautioned him to be wary of his tired
condition and not make the patients suffer. Patrick heeded her advice
until a fellow surgeon called Patrick in to do a delicate procedure.
Patrick came through with flying colors and was boasting that he could do
it all, just before he stumbled over a medicine cart. Epiphany told him he
had done enough and sent him home. Robin was in despair when Patrick
arrived home because she could not manage to quiet Emma's cries. As soon
as Patrick picked up Emma, she stopped crying. Robin was incredulous at
Emma's prompt response and demanded to know Patrick's secret. Robin was
overwhelmed by motherhood. She felt like a complete failure. Patrick
disagreed but, no matter how much he tried, he couldn't convince Robin
that her feelings of inadequacy were unfounded. Robin admitted that her
inability to breast-feed Emma contributed to her feelings of incompetence.
Robin also realized that her lack of control over the situation made
things worse. Patrick understood Robin's frustration and suggested that
perhaps working would help, because it was an area of her life in which
she had command of things. Robin agreed and quickly left for General
Hospital.
Unfortunately, things did not improve for Robin once she began her shift.
She made one mistake after another and her frustration level mounted.
Finally, Lainey pulled Robin aside and sent her home with instructions to
stop competing with Patrick for parent of the year. She told Robin that in
Emma's eyes, Robin was perfect just as she was. When Robin arrived home,
she found Matt and Patrick playing a video racing game. Matt had stopped
by to visit with his brother and niece. He seemed to sense that Robin
wasn't in the mood for company, so Matt told them that he had to return to
work. After Matt left, Robin joined Patrick on the sofa while Emma slept
in her carrier between them. Robin sounded utterly defeated as she told
Patrick about her difficult day at the hospital and then sadly admitted
that she wished she were a better mother. Patrick tenderly told Robin that
she was a wonderful parent and promised her that they would work through
her difficulties as a family. Patrick's loving support moved Robin to
tears.
Liz answered a knock on the door. It was Patrick. He and Robin had heard
about Jake and wanted to check on Elizabeth and Cameron. He even thought
to bring some of his racecars for Cameron to play with. Patrick couldn't
understand why the Russians would take Jake. Elizabeth explained that she
was involved with Jason Morgan. The Russian mob took Jake to get to Jason.
Elizabeth was wracked with guilt for putting her children in danger. She
worried that Cameron would feel guilty for letting his little brother get
kidnapped. Cameron knew he and his brother were supposed to stay in the
tent, but Jake had gotten curious and crawled out. Elizabeth felt bad for
not even asking Patrick about Emma, since he was a new dad. Patrick said
Emma was great, and he looked forward to her sleeping more than two hours
at night. Elizabeth told him that love was not enough. Patrick had to do
everything possible to make sure his child was safe. Emma was counting on
him. Suddenly, Elizabeth stood up and asked Patrick if he could wait with
Cameron until Lucky got back. Elizabeth had something to do. Patrick
agreed and Elizabeth quickly left. Patrick called to check on Emma, and
Robin assured him their daughter was fine. They hung up just as Lucky
arrived. Lucky told Patrick that Elizabeth was holding herself responsible
for Jake's kidnapping, and he couldn't find a way to get Elizabeth to
realize it wasn't her fault. Patrick said he was very worried for
Elizabeth. She seemed to be trying to punish herself. Lucky asked Patrick
if he could stay a while longer so Lucky could find Elizabeth, and Patrick
agreed.
At the hospital, Patrick thanked Epiphany for taking care of Cameron, but
she pointed to Matt, who was keeping Cameron entertained with toy cars.
Patrick was impressed and, when Elizabeth and Lucky arrived a few minutes
later, Cameron was in good spirits. Patrick told Elizabeth to stay
positive and not to give up. Mac arrived home and immediately called Robin
to come over. Robin soon arrived with Emma in tow. Mac briefly explained
what had happened between him and Maxie, and Robin knew exactly what had
happened. She knew Mac and Maxie well enough to know how the conversation
had gone without needing to be there. Mac regretted giving the ultimatum
and wanted Robin to talk Maxie out of moving out. Robin thought Spinelli
was sweet, so Mac and Robin got sidetracked as they disagreed over
Spinelli.
When Maxie arrived home, Mac apologized for their fight. Maxie said she
loved Mac, but she needed to grow up and move out, regardless of Mac's
feelings for Spinelli. Maxie went upstairs to pack and was ready to leave
quicker than Mac was prepared for it. Maxie planned to take a cab, but Mac
told her to go ahead and take the car. Maxie told Mac that she loved him
and was grateful to be able to call him Dad. She thanked him for providing
some stability to her crazy family life. Mac told Maxie to claim her life
and her fashion career. Maxie said she would let Mac know where she was
staying as soon as she knew. Once Maxie was gone, Mac had already noticed
how quiet the house was. Robin told Mac it was all for the best, but Mac
said Robin would be singing a different tune when it was Emma moving out.
When Claudia saw Olivia bleeding on the couch, she wasn't very sympathetic
to Kate's cousin. She asked why Olivia was there, and Sonny also asked
what had happened to Olivia, while Patrick examined her injuries. Olivia
told Sonny she had overheard a blonde Russian speaking on the phone about
an explosion and a kidnapping that had gone bad. When the blonde saw
Olivia, she pulled a knife on Kate's cousin and tried to kill her. Patrick
had saved her life when he came across the situation. He brought her to
Sonny's, because Olivia didn't want to go to the hospital and worry Kate
or Dante. Claudia interrupted at that point to say Milo should take Olivia
over to Kate's house. Sonny thought otherwise, though. His house was
plenty big enough, so there was no reason why Olivia couldn't stay there.
Patrick assured everyone that Olivia would be okay, and he took her
upstairs to get settled in a room.
When Patrick came back downstairs, Sonny thanked him and said his own
private doctor would tend to Olivia from then on. Patrick didn't like that
idea. He said Olivia was his patient and he would continue to check on
her. Sonny seemed okay with that. He asked how Robin and Patrick were
getting used to parenthood, and Patrick said that Robin was in a learning
phase. Then Sonny asked Patrick for his professional opinion as to whether
or not Sonny should call Dante. Although Patrick thought Olivia wasn't
revealing her true level of pain, he knew Olivia would be all right. It
was his professional opinion that Dante didn't need to be called. Sonny
thanked him and told Patrick to give his love to Robin when he got home.
Claudia walked in and told Patrick to tell Robin that Sonny and Claudia
had gotten married and were accepting well-wishes.
Patrick arrived at Mac's to take Robin and Emma home, and Mac reminded him
that it was getting late. After Robin commented how long it had taken when
Patrick had visited Liz earlier, Patrick told her about spending time with
Liz and then stumbling upon Olivia's stabbing. There was no other woman
for him anymore though, except Robin. Emma had a less fitful night, so
Robin and Patrick finally got some rest. As Patrick left for work, Robin
was optimistic that she and Emma would have a good day. She was happily
making plans to take Emma on a walk in the park. As soon as Patrick left
home, Emma started crying again. Patrick went to the hospital and told
everyone that Robin and Emma were doing fine. He was chipper because he
had gotten six hours of uninterrupted sleep. Both Epiphany and Matt had a
few comments as they shared chitchat at the nurses' station. Matt and
Patrick bantered about Patrick's parenting skills. Patrick was encouraged
that Robin and Emma were headed to the park and were bonding. Robin
unsuccessfully tried to quiet Emma until Maxie arrived. As soon as Maxie
told Emma to pipe down, she did. Robin was completely flummoxed. She did
not understand why Emma responded to everyone but her. Maxie said it was
just coincidental, but Robin did not think so. Maxie told Robin about her
housing dilemma and Robin agreed that she should not stay at Jason's.
After consideration, Maxie decided that she could find a place to live
using online ads.
Robin continued to be frustrated with Emma's crying. Robin viewed it as a
form of rejection from her daughter and decided to leave the apartment to
give Emma what she wanted. Robin headed to the park where Mac bumped into
her. He saw that his niece was troubled and lent her a sympathetic ear
while she poured her heart out to him. Her deep desire to have a child and
her love for Emma made her failure as a parent more painful. Mac felt that
Robin was too hard on herself. He told her that parenting had a learning
curve and that mistakes were a part of the journey. He used himself as an
example to illustrate that parents continued to learn even after the
children were grown. Mac stepped away for a few minutes to fetch some
popcorn from a nearby vendor. When he returned, he handed the treat to
Robin. She smiled at the loving gesture and announced that her meltdown
had passed. She thanked Mac for his support just as Patrick walked up.
Emma was sound asleep in her stroller. Robin was happy to see her family
and stood up to check on her daughter. Patrick took the opportunity to
remind Robin that she was an amazing mother and then hugged her. They said
goodbye to Mac and then returned to their apartment. As they walked in,
Emma began crying. Robin dashed off to fix a bottle while Patrick soothed
his daughter. By the time Robin returned to the living room with the
bottle, Emma had quieted down. Robin had an uneasy expression on her face
as she watched Patrick rock a content Emma.
Patrick, Robin and Emma were at home. Robin and Patrick were ecstatic
because Emma had been sleeping for hours instead of minutes. Their mood
turned when they feared that something might be wrong with Emma because
she was not crying. They rushed to check, but found that she was okay.
They were happily planning a family outing to pick out a tree for Emma's
first Christmas when Maxie stopped in. Maxie wanted to discuss plans
for the wedding on the day after Christmas, but Patrick and Robin said
that they had other plans at that moment. Robin told Maxie that they
trusted her completely, and acknowledged that it would be a much smaller
affair than their previous attempt to wed. Robin, Patrick, and Emma had a
great time at the Christmas tree lot. While Robin obsessed over which tree
to pick out, Patrick conversed with Emma. Later, Patrick carried the tree
into their apartment. Robin found the perfect spot and Emma slept
peacefully as Robin and Patrick shared a loving kiss.
Patrick told Epiphany to call him if anything changed in regards to his
patient, and she asked what she should do on Christmas. Patrick said she
should still call him, but Matt walked up and said she should call him
instead of Patrick on Christmas. Patrick protested, until Matt made a good
point that Patrick needed to be with his daughter on her first Christmas.
If he missed the first Christmas, it would be that much easier for him to
miss the second, and so on. Suddenly, Patrick would become the father who
was never there. Patrick was stunned at Matt's thoughtfulness, but Matt
said it was a gift for his niece. Patrick decided they should compromise.
He would stay home on Christmas while Matt took over his patients, and
Matt would stand up and be Patrick's best man at his wedding on the 26th.
Patrick was paged and asked Matt to think about it. When Patrick met up
with Matt later, he asked if the younger man had a chance to think about
the offer. Matt asked if Coleman would be upset, but Patrick said the
bartender would understand. Matt tried to turn Patrick down by saying he
didn't have to make the offer to make up for what Noah had done. Patrick
made it very clear that his offer had nothing to do with guilt or
redemption. People had to choose whether to follow in their parents'
footsteps or go down a different path. Patrick was choosing to be a good
father and not abandon his child. Robin was an only child, and they wanted
Emma to have an extended family. Matt was Patrick's only brother and he
wanted him there at the wedding. The explanation was enough for Matt, and
he agreed to be Patrick's best man.
Anna walked into her daughter's apartment, yelling out about all the stuff
she had gotten. She was shocked to see Robert there instead of Robin. She
was instantly worried about his traveling, but Robert assured her he was
in remission. He would even allow her to call the clinic, where they would
surely tell her that Robert had been the worst patient they ever had. That
didn't shock Anna, but she still wasn't sure that Robert traveling had
been such a good idea. Robert told her to test him with something to prove
he was back to his own normal self. They bickered back and forth in good
nature until Robin walked in, shocked to see her father. He said he
wouldn't be anywhere else while his only daughter was getting married.
Besides, he wanted to see his granddaughter.
Robin picked up Emma and told her that Robert Scorpio would be her hero if
she ever needed one. Robert was stunned as he held his beautiful
grandbaby. He fed her a bottle and told her she was proof that he did
something right. When he was in the hospital dying, the only thing that
held him back from going to the other side was the need to see and hold
his granddaughter. She was definitely worth the fight. Robert was annoyed
by the looks he was getting from Robin and Anna, but they told him it had
been so sweet to see him with his granddaughter for the first time. Anna
and Robert ooed and ahhed over Emma and talked about who she looked like.
Anna was sad that Robert hadn't known Robin as a baby, but Robert said
Anna had done what she had to do at the time. Robert asked how the wedding
planning was going, and Anna was stunned that Robert was interested. He
said he was interested because his only daughter was getting married and
he was alive to see it. He thought it was a good idea to get married the
day after Christmas, because it would make it less likely for Patrick to
forget his anniversary. Robin said she and Patrick picked the 26th because
they couldn't wait any longer to be married, and it gave her time to get a
new wedding dress that fit her post-baby body. Robert asked if he could
help with the wedding, but Robin assured him that Maxie had it all taken
care of. She asked how Robert was feeling and if he was able to walk
around. She wanted her father to walk her down the aisle. Patrick walked
through the door and was surprised to see Robert there with Anna. He
didn't know that Robert was well enough to travel. Robert said he couldn't
miss that father-in-law/son-in-law talk they still needed to have.
Robin asked Robert to walk her down the aisle, but he said no. Robert said
that it was really Mac's place to do it, because he had been a better
father to Robin. Robin said that Mac had done it at her first wedding and
would not mind if Robert did it at this wedding. Robin said that Robert
was her father and since he was in remission, she wanted him to walk her
down the aisle. Robert said he would do it if Mac agreed. Then Robert told
Robin that he needed some air and left the apartment. Mac arrived on the
scene just as Robert and Luke were being taken to the station. He vouched
for them and accepted their explanation for being at the crime scene. Luke
took his leave when he heard that his Cuban cigar connection had been
busted at the free clinic. Mac was overjoyed to hear that Robert was in
remission. When Robert told Mac that Robin wanted him to walk her down the
aisle, Mac thought it a very good idea. Robert tried to cede the job to
Mac, but Mac did not take no for an answer. Mac said that Robert could
either walk Robin down the aisle or he could spend Christmas in jail.
Robert opted to walk Robin down the aisle.
Anna and Patrick got back to Robin's apartment with food and drink. When
Robin told Anna that Robert had left abruptly, she told her not to fret,
and was confident that Robert would be back. While Patrick tended Emma,
Robin asked Anna to be her matron of honor. Anna was overwhelmed. Robin
said that when she had nearly died, she remembered Anna telling her to
take her strength. Robin told Anna that she really wanted to share her
wedding day with her mom. Robert, Patrick, Robin, Anna, and Mac shared a
meal and toasted family. Robin summed up the meaning of family as she told
each of them how much they meant to her and how grateful she was to have
family around her so that they could share Christmas together.
Patrick walked in the door with eggnog lattes just as Robin was having a
meltdown. The house was a mess, the tree was half-decorated, and Robin was
sure Patrick had forgotten to pick up the dessert. Patrick offered to go
pick it up then, but the shop had already closed. Patrick noticed Robin
was searching for something and asked if he could help. Robin couldn't
find the necklace her mother had given her on her wedding day. It was the
same necklace Robin's grandmother had given Anna on her wedding day.
Before long, Anna and Robert showed up and Anna mentioned how beautiful
Grandmother Filomena's necklace would look on Robin with her blouse. Robin
brushed the comment off, because she didn't want her mother to know she
had lost the necklace. Robert and Anna decided they should start with
dessert first, since the past year had taught them to go with the sweet
stuff first. Robin was getting ready to tell them they didn't have any
dessert when there was a knock at the door. It was Spinelli and Maxie
asking for Christmas wishes. Robin said they already had everything they
could wish for. Spinelli offered up a gift anyway before leaving. Everyone
was shocked to open the gift and find cookies. Everyone except Anna was
hesitant to eat something from Spinelli, but Anna took a bite and was in
awe. Robert was next to try the cookies, and they insisted Robin try them.
Patrick wasn't very happy about Robin trying something edible from
Spinelli, but Anna and Robert insisted they wouldn't let their daughter do
something that would hurt her. Robin took a bite and couldn't believe the
cookies were the exact same cookies her grandmother used to make for
Christmas. Grandma Filomena had promised to give Robin the recipe, but had
died before giving it to her granddaughter. There was another surprise,
Patrick found the necklace Robin had lost.
Maxie was stunned to see Santa as he thanked her for helping Spinelli.
Spinelli was distraught because he didn't find out what everyone wanted,
but Santa reminded him that he didn't need a PDA to know what everyone
wanted for Christmas. Spinelli was confused and asked what the true
meaning of his mission was? Santa revealed that it took a very special
person, one who was generous and good and true, to see into people's
hearts.
DVD #8B December 26th, 2008 Patrick tried to talk to
Emma about their important day, but Maxie knocked on the door and
interrupted them. She rushed Patrick back to his own apartment and told
him the hospital staff had strict orders to turn him away at the door if
he tried to show up at work. Robin came out of her room after Patrick had
left and Maxie explained she didn't want anything going wrong during the
second attempt at a wedding. Maxie continued to freak out when Robin
started to put nuts on her waffles, thinking Robin was allergic. Robin
calmed her down and assured her that she was not allergic to nuts. She
tried to reassure her cousin that the wedding would go off without a
hitch, but Maxie reminded her of everything that had happened last time.
Robin said Maxie didn't need to worry about Emma causing trouble the
second time around, because a nurse was coming to watch the little girl.
There was soon a knock at the door, but it was Mac, not the nurse, who had
arrived. Since Mac wasn't walking Robin down the aisle, he would be her
personal chauffer. That idea brightened Maxie's day and she tried to
convince Mac to use the sirens and lights to escort the bride to the
church. After Maxie had gone, Mac remembered when Robin had told him she
was HIV-positive. Making that day all the more special was the fact that
Mac had worried he would never see Robin get married after her diagnosis.
Robin was embarrassed with her "lights and sirens" arrival at
the church, but she arrived safely and on time for her wedding. Anna was
already there and ready for some private time with her daughter while they
did makeup. They laughed about Emma being pushy, just like they were.
Meanwhile, Mac found Robert pacing in the chapel. He realized Robert was
panicking over giving his little girl up. Robert thanked Mac for taking
care of Robin when he wasn't around, but Mac turned around and thanked
Robert for entrusting his little girl to him.
Robert walked into the chapel a little later on and found Patrick. They
decided it was time for the father-in-law/son-in-law talk. Robert asked
Patrick what he wanted to hear from Emma's husband on the day of their
wedding. Patrick said he would want to hear how blessed the man was and
that he was committed to making the marriage work, despite each other's
flaws. He wanted to hear that the man would never intentionally hurt
Patrick's little girl and he would promise to value her, honor her, and
love her. He acknowledged that relationships take work, and Patrick wanted
to hear that his future son-in-law would never take his daughter for
granted, and their love would grow more every year. Robert decided Patrick
was fit for his little girl and gave his blessing.
Anna knocked and walked back into the room where Robin was getting ready.
Anna couldn't believe how beautiful her daughter looked, and Robin warned
her mother not to make her cry. Anna discovered she had left her gift in
the car and left to get it. While she was gone, Robin remembered showing
Stone the mantilla her mother had worn when she married Robert. Robin had
always imaged herself wearing it for her own wedding. In her memory, Stone
put the mantilla on her head and told her she would make a lovely bride.
Tears streamed down Robin's face until she was brought back to reality by
a knock at the door. It was Sonny, and he was there to give Robin his best
wishes. Robin said she was just thinking about Stone and how he had wanted
Robin to find love again. Stone's dying wish had come true and Robin had
found love again. Robin thanked Sonny for his support. When Stone had
died, Robin wouldn't have been able to pull through without Sonny. Jason
was also instrumental, though, as Sonny pointed out. Robin said she was
blessed to have both men in her life.
Matt showed up late and frantic at the church. Patrick calmed him down and
explained that no one had arrived yet. Matt said a patient had come in at
the last minute and Patrick sidetracked him by asking about the patient.
Matt couldn't believe that Patrick was so calm. Patrick said he was madly
in love with Robin and he wasn't giving anything up. His heart would do a
little dance every time he got a voicemail or text message from Robin.
Every time he looked at Emma, his heart filled. The wedding was a public
acknowledgement for Robin, but he already knew he would be with Robin
forever. Luke walked into the church and found Robert looking a little
seasick. He couldn't believe something like a wedding would cause Robert
so much grief, but Robert told Luke he would understand when his own
little girl was walking down the aisle. Anna walked in just as Luke was
leaving and asked if Robert had run him out. Robert said that Luke had
just seen into the future. Robert had also seen Patrick earlier, but he
assured Anna he had not run the groom off.
Anna said Patrick had surprised them, and probably even himself, with how
much he had grown recently. Watching Patrick with Emma made Anna regret
her decision to keep Robin apart from Robert during her first six years.
Robert said it was water under the bridge, but Anna said it was her
bridge. They both agreed they had a wonderful daughter that they didn't
deserve. Maxie suddenly walked in and asked what they were doing sitting
there when a catastrophe was about to occur. They asked what had happened
and were stunned when she said nothing. Spinelli tried to calm her down
and tell her that perhaps her instincts were wrong, but Maxie tried to
convince Spinelli to pat everyone down as they entered the church. She was
also worried about Carly's interference, but Spinelli had hacked into
Carly's PDA and discovered she would be tied up in business meetings all
day. As Robert prepared to knock on Robin's door, he remembered seeing her
for the first time. When he finally entered her room, he couldn't believe
how beautiful she was. Anna walked down the aisle first and finally, it
was Robin's turn. Everyone turned to watch as Robin gracefully approached
and stood next to Patrick.
Robin's wedding to Patrick went off without a hitch. Robin was beautiful
in a white strapless gown. Robert walked her down the aisle where Patrick
waited with Anna, Robin's matron of honor, and Matt, Patrick's best man.
In front of friends and family, Robin and Patrick exchanged heartfelt vows
that detailed their rocky courtship and their undying love. At the
reception, held in the Metro Court ballroom, the denizens of Port Charles
danced and shared well wishes. Robin and Patrick started the dancing. They
kissed and spoke of their love for each other. Then Robin danced with
Robert, who had a flashback to a memory of Robin as a very young girl. He
shared his regret for missing a substantial part of her growing-up years.
Robin told him she had everything she ever wanted and she was responsible
for her own happiness. She told him she loved him and she thought he was
the best dad ever. Anna danced with Patrick and told him that she would
trust him with her daughter. Patrick thanked her for her trust and said
that he would never stop loving Robin. Epiphany shared a dance with Edward
and a jealous Spinelli looked on helplessly as Matt asked Maxie to dance
and she accepted. Matt complimented Maxie on the wedding and they seemed
to have a good time dancing together. Robin took time to tell Mac how much
she loved him and he told her that he felt lucky to have been part of her
life. Lainie and Kelly rhapsodized about eternal love while Edward
encouraged Luke to court Tracy and pretend to mean it.
Both Robert and Anna made speeches and toasts for Robin and Patrick before
the bride and groom cut the cake. As Robert watched, he flashed back to
the time that he and Anna had told Robin that they were her parents and
would love her forever. When Robert turned to Anna and asked if she
thought about the time they had admitted being Robin's parents, they were
both stunned to learn that they had both been recalling the same moment in
time. When Anna remarked to Robert that she was in awe that a young woman
as lovely as Robin had been conceived out of their love for each other,
Robert responded that it still ranked as the greatest love of all time.
Anna had tears in her eyes as she looked from Robert to her daughter.
When Robin, Patrick, and Emma returned home after their honeymoon, Robin
was sure that Emma's fussiness on the plane was a sign that she was
gravely ill. Patrick told Robin that Emma was fine, but she rushed the
baby to the hospital anyway. Sonny went to see Robin but found Patrick
instead. He told Patrick about his visit to Michael and asked if Patrick
knew of any treatment, experimental or otherwise, that could help Michael.
Patrick said that as a doctor he had no hope that Michael would recover,
but as a father he would never give up. Sonny understood and was grateful
when Patrick said that he would let Sonny know if he heard or read of any
treatment that could possibly help Michael. Patrick was gone, but Sonny
was waiting when Robin and Emma got home from the hospital. Emma was fine
and Robin was embarrassed by her obsessive behavior. Sonny said he was the
same kind of dad because he worried about everything with his children.
His words made Robin feel better as she introduced Sonny to Emma. As he
held the baby, Sonny told Emma how lucky she was to have a woman like
Robin as her mom. Emma was delighted to be in Sonny's arms and Robin was
soothed by his complimentary words.
Patrick came home and noticed Robin was not herself. She said she felt
like she would never get her body back. He assured her that she was the
most beautiful woman he knew. They sat down and Robin explained that she
was realizing how fragile children were after remembering what it was like
when she held Michael as a baby. Patrick reminded Robin that they were not
mobsters and hopefully they would not have to deal with tragic medical
illnesses affecting their daughter. Patrick realized Robin wasn't acting
like she normally did, and asked if she could be suffering from
post-partum depression. Robin immediately was defensive and said there had
just been a lot going on with the birth of their daughter, Robin's brush
with death, and their wedding. Robin wanted him to drop it and stormed out
of the room. Later, Patrick came in with a gift for Robin. She opened it
to reveal sexy lingerie. Patrick suggested she go try it on since Emma was
still sleeping. Robin said she wasn't ready for intimacy yet, but thanked
him for the pretty gift.
Patrick came home and heard Emma crying in another room. Robin, however,
was sitting on the couch as if nothing was wrong. She was trying to put
the baby swing together and said Emma just needed to cry it out. Patrick
quickly checked on his daughter and took care of her needs. After he
settled her down, he went out to talk to Robin. Patrick was very concerned
that Robin could be suffering from post-partum depression. Robin wasn't
interested in hearing about Patrick's diagnosis, though. She decided the
only thing wrong was the size of their apartment. It wasn't working out
living in such small, cramped quarters. Robin felt that moving to a bigger
house would make things better. They got online and found a house
right around the corner from Elizabeth. It appeared to be the right size
and had a nice backyard, also. Robin wanted to look at the house the next
day and possibly make an offer on it. Patrick felt she was rushing things
a bit, but Robin said sometimes she just had that instinct. A proper
family needed a proper home.
Robin and Patrick looked at a house in the suburbs that was next door to
Elizabeth. Robin was ready to buy it immediately but Patrick wanted to
look around first. Eventually they agreed that it was the perfect house
for them. Robin was convinced that all her problems would be solved if
they got a house. She attributed her recent emotional problems to living
in too small a space, because the clutter was too much for her tidy mind.
Patrick was not convinced, but hoped for the best. He also liked the house
and thought it would suit their family perfectly. He agreed to go to the
realtor with Robin, make an offer, and move in as soon as possible. Robin
and Patrick bought the house and were pleased to get a quick escrow and
the right to move in immediately. Patrick and Robin shared a laugh when
Patrick noted that they had a white picket fence. Robin was joyful in her
belief that the house would solve all their problems. Elizabeth recognized
the car and stopped by to welcome Robin and Patrick to the neighborhood.
Both Robin and Patrick were pleased to have Elizabeth as their next-door
neighbor. While Patrick checked out the garage, Elizabeth and Robin talked
about the neighborhood and the joys and trials of motherhood, especially
the stress of raising children.
Afterviewing an x-ray, Patrick urgently told Ephiphany to stop a surgery
about to begin. He raced to the bank of elevators while Epiphany reached
for the phone to make a call. When the elevator doors failed to
immediately open, Patrick ran to the stairwell and sprinted up several
flights of stairs. As the scenes unfolded, Monica and Matt were heard
talking their way through the surgery. When Patrick reached the surgical
floor, he ran to the operating room. In his haste, Patrick bumped into a
nurse, who was pushing a cart. The nurse fell as the cart tipped over.
Matt told his surgical team that they had a bleeder. He warned everyone
that something was wrong with the patient. In the next instant blood
splattered across Matt's face. Patrick made it to the observation window
of the operating room. He banged the window and shouted, "Stop!"
to everyone inside. No one appeared to hear him as pandemonium broke out.
Monica reached for her surgical mask and pulled it away from her face as
her eyes drifted close and she fell to the ground. A fire erupted as
everyone began scrambling for their lives.Robin was at home. She appeared
distraught as Emma was heard crying in the background. In her agitation,
Robin picked up the baby monitor and threw it across the room. Patrick,
wearing a coat over a set of hospital scrubs, sat down in a dark room.
Whom he was talking to was unknown. He began by stating that he was a
neurosurgeon who was trained to be detached. As he talked about the
beginning of "that day," the story started to unfold.
Nine hours before the surgery:10:00 a.m. Patrick arrived at General
Hospital. He was exhausted because Emma had not slept through the night.
Epiphany didn't have much sympathy for Patrick because she felt certain
that Robin did the lion's share of caring for Emma. They exchanged
good-natured jabs for a few minutes before Epiphany turned to Leyla with
an assignment. A blizzard was moving in and the hospital had been put on
an emergency alert. At the hospital, Patrick decided to go home. Initially
Epiphany was reluctant to see the doctor leave because of the impending
blizzard but she quickly realized that Patrick was too distracted to be of
use at the hospital. She sent Patrick on his way with her blessing.
At home, Robin was unpacking and settling into her new home when the
doorbell rang. It was Elizabeth. She had brought a casserole over as a
house-warming gift. Robin invited Elizabeth inside and enlisted her help.
While Elizabeth took notes, Robin prioritized what needed to be done to
unpack efficiently everything. Robin appeared overwhelmed at times so
Elizabeth suggested that Robin relax and take things one step at a time.
Robin bristled over the advice. She asked Elizabeth if she and Patrick had
been talking about Robin and motherhood. Robin was visibly relieved when
Elizabeth assured her that she hadn't. Unfortunately, a few minutes later,
Emma woke up and began crying. Robin seemed reluctant to attend to her
daughter so she invited Elizabeth to feed the baby. Elizabeth was
uncertain because Emma was not familiar with her. Robin assured Elizabeth
that Emma would be fine then, on the pretense of running a few urgent
errands, Robin asked Elizabeth to watch Emma for a while. Robin quickly
left without giving Elizabeth the opportunity to decline.
After Maxie's departure, Robin dropped by for a visit. Jason was happy to
see her but told her that it was not a good idea for her to be at his
penthouse because of the danger around him. Robin brushed his concerns
aside and showed Jason pictures of Emma. As he looked at the pictures,
Robin asked him how Carly knew that she had been suffering from
post-partum depression following Michael's birth. Jason took Robin over to
the sofa and the two sat down. Jason told Robin that Carly had realized
there was a problem when she couldn't bring herself to touch Michael.
Shortly after his birth, Jason had taken Carly to the NICU to see Michael
but Carly was refused to hold her son. A couple of days later, Carly
decided to leave town for a while. Robin made a few derisive comments
about Carly's fitness as a mother and then seemed to conclude that all was
well with her. Robin decided that she didn't suffer from PPD because she
didn't have the same symptoms that Carly had exhibited. Jason cautioned
Robin not to rely on him for a diagnosis. He reminded Robin that he only
knew Carly's case and urged her to seek professional advice. Robin waived
away Jason's concern. She told him that Patrick had only made the
suggestion and put the concern in her head, that she had PPD, because he
was a perfectionist. He needed to have a diagnosis for everything. Robin
thanked Jason for his help and left before Jason could persuade Robin to
see a specialist about her situation.
When Patrick arrived home, with a bouquet of red roses, he found Elizabeth
waiting instead of Robin. Elizabeth explained that Robin had left to run a
few errands. Elizabeth had kept herself busy taking care of Emma and
unpacking a few things in the living room to help Robin out. Elizabeth
tried to ease Patrick's worries about Robin's recent struggles but to no
avail. Robin walked in to hear Patrick admit that he was seriously
concerned about his wife. Elizabeth tried to ease Patrick's worries about
Robin's recent struggles, to no avail. Robin walked in to hear Patrick
admit that he was seriously concerned about his wife.
Patrick continued his report of the days events in the darkened room.
Eight Hours Before Surgery 11:00 a.m. Patrick arrived home from work early
and found Elizabeth had come over to help with the move and watch Emma
while Robin ran some errands. Robin was surprised to see how much Liz had
gotten done, but Liz explained that she was used to working quickly, since
she was a single mom. Once Liz was gone, Robin seemed a bit jealous and
said she hoped Liz wouldn't be popping in all the time. Patrick used that
opportunity to bring up the subject of post-partum depression. Robin
insisted again that she wasn't suffering from depression and she had asked
Jason for his opinion, also. Patrick couldn't understand why she would go
to Jason instead of her husband, but Robin told him that Carly had
suffered from post-partum depression after she had Michael. Carly lived
with Jason at the time, so he had witnessed the symptoms. Robin wasn't
suffering from any of the same symptoms Carly had. Patrick decided he
didn't want to spend the afternoon arguing with Robin. He loved her and
wanted to spend some time with their family. He wanted to take a picture
in their new house, but Robin was clearly uncomfortable with her daughter.
Patrick continued to tell Agent Rayner his story about the events leading
up to a horrific event in Port Charles. Elsewhere Winifred talked to
officials higher up in the chain of command. Seven Hours Before Surgery -
12:00 p.m. Patrick and Robin were kissing on the sofa in their new home,
but when things started to get passionate, Robin told Patrick that she was
not recovered enough to make love with him. Patrick told her he understood
and changed the subject. Robin said she felt fat, ugly, and out of shape,
but Patrick told her he loved her and she was beautiful to him. Robin
worried out loud about her own negative feelings and said that she did not
feel like herself. When she said that she thought she should talk to her
obstetrician, Kelly, Patrick encouraged her. Before they could converse
further, Matt knocked on the door with a gift for the new homeowners.
Shortly after Robin had opened and admired Matt's gift of a barbeque set,
Maxie also dropped in with a housewarming present. She did not respond
well to seeing Matt there. The two of then sparred verbally before Maxie
left in a huff after calling Matt egotistical. He laughed. After she left,
Matt told Robin and Patrick that he liked Maxie and wanted to date her.
Patrick told him to proceed at his own risk, but Robin cautioned Matt that
Maxie's tough veneer hid a vulnerable heart. After Matt took off for work,
Robin and Patrick shared many heartfelt words. Robin was surprised to
learn that Patrick had fallen in love with her early in their
relationship, when he had been exposed to HIV. They shared their love for
each other and sat on their couch and admired their new home.
Patrick continued his story about the events leading up to the catastrophe
in Port Charles. He told Agent Rayner that he first became aware that Earl
Bragg, a patient in the operating room, was carrying classified materials
when Patrick saw the x-rays. Agent Rayner responded that it was not the
FBI's fault that the accident had happened, but that of Equinox
Corporation. He said the FBI was only there to clean up. Six Hours Before
Surgery - 1:00 p.m. Patrick and Elizabeth chatted at the nurses' station.
Patrick thanked her for her help earlier in the day when she had stayed
with Emma while Robin ran errands. Patrick left a message for Robin
telling her that he would be home soon. He commiserated with Elizabeth,
who had to pass on Disney on Ice. They went on rounds together.
Agent Rayner continued to question Patrick about the events that had led
up to the incident at the hospital. Patrick was annoyed because of the way
that the FBI had handled things. Agent Rayner justified their actions by
insisting that they had tried to avoid a full-scale panic. Then Rayner
reminded Patrick that Patrick was there to answer questions, not critique
the FBI on their actions. Rayner got the interrogation back on track by
asking him what had happened after Patrick had reviewed the X-rays.
Patrick explained that he had ordered Epiphany to call the OR and warn
Matt not to open the patient. Rayner wanted to know if Patrick had given
Epiphany a reason for halting the surgery. Patrick said that there hadn't
been time. When Rayner revealed that he knew that Matt was Patrick's
brother, Patrick realized Rayner was more informed than he had let on.
Five Hours Before Surgery - 2:00 p.m. Nikolas arrived at Robin's house
bearing a housewarming gift. Robin was delighted to see Nikolas and
invited him inside. When Nikolas asked Robin how she was doing, Robin
deftly changed the subject by telling Nikolas that she knew it was Emily's
birthday. Nikolas admitted that Emily had been on his mind quite a bit
over the past few weeks. Robin understood what Nikolas felt because she
had experienced similar feelings after Stone had died. Eventually their
conversation drifted back to Robin and motherhood. Robin confessed that
she realized she was not a natural mother. Nikolas identified with Robin.
He said that Emily had been wonderful with Spencer, while he tended to
rely more on the nanny. Robin downplayed how difficult things had been for
her since Emma's birth. Instead, she focused on opening her housewarming
gift, a beautiful vase.
Jason went to General Hospital to talk to Patrick about Carly. Jason was
worried that Carly had unreasonable expectations for Michael's recovery.
Patrick made it clear that everything he had told Carly about Michael's
prognosis had been true. If she had derived hope from what he had said,
then there was nothing Patrick could or would do to take that away from
her. Patrick went on to point out that Carly's foundation for children
with head injuries was a positive step to channel her hope. Before Jason
left, Patrick asked Jason about his visit with Robin. He wanted to know
what Jason's impression of Robin had been. Patrick wasn't surprised when
Jason told him that Robin had seemed a little tense.
January 23rd, 2009 In black and white, Patrick spoke with Agent Rayner and
explained that he had left Dr. Matt Hunter to perform a surgery so Patrick
could go home to check on Robin. No one in the operating room that evening
had expected to risk their lives while they were trying to save another
life. Meanwhile, Winifred spoke to a superior on the phone and said the
guest list was in Carly Corinthos' handwriting. She was one of the only
ones they could confirm, but she didn't explain what was confirmed. Four
Hours Before Surgery - 1:00 p.m. Carly went over to Robin's new
house to invite her to the benefit that evening, as Sonny had requested.
Emma was crying and Carly gave Robin numerous opportunities to go get the
baby. Robin wasn't interested in attending to Emma and just wanted to know
more about the benefit. Finally, Carly couldn't stand it any longer and
asked if she could pick Emma up. The baby girl immediately stopped crying,
and Carly said she was jealous of Robin because Carly had always wanted a
little girl. Robin asked Carly if she had ever felt guilty for not wanting
to pick up or spend time with Michael when Carly was suffering from
post-partum depression. Carly said she stopped feeling bad once she knew
what was wrong; after all, post-partum depression was a medical condition.
Carly was very grateful for Sonny and Jason, because Michael always knew
he was loved. As Carly prepared to leave, Robin said she would be at the
benefit that evening. Carly and Robin agreed to try to get along during
the benefit that night.
After Carly left Robin's house, she went to the hospital to speak with
Patrick. Carly was sure something was wrong with Robin, especially since
she took extreme measures not to hold the little girl. Carly knew that was
one of the signs of post-partum depression, especially since when she had
suffered from the disorder when Michael was born. Patrick started to make
excuses for Robin, but Carly pointed out that Patrick must have been
worried also if he were making excuses for his wife. If Carly hadn't
stopped by the house, Patrick's little girl could still be crying. Once
Robin was alone, she started to clean up the house and then called to get
an appointment at a local boutique. No one could fit her in that day, but
Robin made a later appointment for a manicure, pedicure, and massage. She
started to move Emma back to her nursery and prayed that Emma wouldn't
wake up. The little girl started crying, though, and Robin tried to pump
herself up by saying she had been through worse things.
Three Hours Before Surgery - 4:00 p.m. Patrick continued to tell
Agent Rayner his story about the events leading up to the catastrophe in
Port Charles. Carly talked to Patrick about Robin's behavior. She was
convinced that Robin was suffering from post-partum depression. Patrick
tried to defend Robin, but Carly spoke from her own experience with the
disease. Patrick became increasingly uneasy as he heard Carly's story. As
Emma cried, Robin also had tears in her eyes, but she would not pick Emma
up. She apologized to Emma for being a bad mother, but told her that she
loved her very much. Robin answered the doorbell to a very bubbly Maxie,
who had just purchased fashionable baby clothes for Emma. She noticed
Robin's tears, but got distracted by Emma. After Maxie finished feeding
and changing Emma, she rambled on to Robin about all the reasons she was
glad not to have the responsibility of child. Maxie was oblivious to
Robin's discomfort as she went on and on about what a good mother Robin
was. Just as Maxie remembered Robin's earlier tears, Patrick came home.
Robin thought he was checking up on her. She got even more waspish when
Patrick assumed that, because of the impending storm, she would stay home
with Emma instead of attending the party at GH. Robin left the room and
Maxie followed. In the living room, Patrick found a teddy bear with
a torn arm that Robin had hidden behind a sofa pillow. In the bedroom,
Maxie said that Patrick was just being a typical protective male and she
thought it was great to see a rake like Patrick become a home-loving
protective guy. Robin was temporarily mollified, but when Patrick asked if
Maxie intended to stay until the babysitter arrived, Robin went ballistic
and asked Patrick if he thought that she needed a babysitter, also.
Patrick talked to Agent Rayner about his efforts to contain the virus.
They hadn't realized the deadly virus was being spread throughout the
hospital through the main vents. Winifred talked on the phone and said she
didn't know if Lulu was in the ballroom or not, but she knew the younger
Spencer was at the hospital. Three Hours Before Surgery - 4:00 p.m. Maxie
watched as Robin lit into Patrick about how she didn't need a babysitter
and was perfectly capable of taking care of her own child. Patrick sulked
out of the house after the bashing from his wife, and Robin noticed the
look Maxie was giving her. Maxie wasn't about to comment for fear her head
would also be bitten off, but Robin tried to explain that Patrick was
overreacting and was just sure that his wife had post-partum depression.
Robin was overwhelmed but was not sick. Robin went through books after
dressing for the party. Emma cried in the other room, but Robin did her
best to ignore the little girl. The phone rang and Robin was anxious to
answer it. Judy, the babysitter, was calling to say she couldn't make it
due to car trouble. Robin immediately called Patrick at the hospital and
he offered to come home as soon as possible. That wasn't what Robin wanted
to hear and she hung up.
Patrick arrived back at the hospital just in time to defend Michael's
charity to Matt, who felt it was a waste of time. Patrick quickly got down
to business and pulled Elizabeth aside. He explained his concerns about
Robin and post-partum depression. Elizabeth asked if Robin was reluctant
to hold Emma, and Patrick felt that she was. Elizabeth seemed to think
that Patrick might have cause for concern. A trauma patient from an
accident was wheeled into the emergency room and Patrick started to get
the information on the patient. Matt stopped him and said he would handle
the case. Patrick had promised he would go home and be with his wife.
Patrick continued his story about the General Hospital Operating Room
disaster. He shed tears as he told Agent Rayner that he had been thinking
about OR nurse Elizabeth Weber and her two boys, when he should have been
thinking about Robin and Emma. One Hour Before Surgery - 6:00 p.m.
Patrick was ready to do surgery on the driver whose car hit Sam's, but
Matt told him to go home to Robin and Emma because he could handle the
problem. The patient started moaning in pain. His abdomen was distended.
As Matt and Patrick felt for the problem, Epiphany told Patrick that the
man's name was Earl Bragg. He was the man who had hit Sam and also the man
who took delivery of the missing Equinox shipment. As Bragg's pain
worsened, Matt was ready to open him up, but Patrick wanted to wait for
the x-rays. Patrick moved on to another patient while Matt stayed with
Bragg.
Patrick's next patient was Sam. He treated her sprain and said the other
guy had serious internal injuries and would probably need surgery. He
asked Elizabeth to assist. Sam asked after Robin and Emma. Patrick spoke
of his love for both, but Sam recognized the worry beneath his words.
Patrick ordered tests for Sam and she shared her experience after a
c-section. She told Patrick that no matter how depressed and upset she had
been, the one thing that got her through was that Jason was always there
for her and gave her his boundless love. She told Patrick that if he could
do that for Robin, she was sure that all the problems would work
themselves out. Patrick said thank you. Bragg's condition worsened. He
recognized that something was wrong and begged Leyla and Matt to get
"it" out.
Bragg's condition went critical while Monica was checking on him. Matt
wanted to operate. She agreed that they could not wait for the x-rays. She
told Matt that she would meet him in OR because two surgeons might be
needed. As Monica walked away, Patrick walked in. Matt said they had to do
surgery. Patrick said he would take over, but Matt told him to go home
because Matt could handle it and, besides, Monica was assisting. Patrick
reluctantly agreed. Patrick was in the Emergency Room when Earl Bragg's
x-rays were delivered. He had just spotted the contents of Earl's abdomen
when Epiphany answered a call inquiring about Earl Bragg. Patrick grabbed
the receiver, identified himself and wanted to know why the caller was
asking about Earl Bragg. Seconds later he said, "Poison. Yes, I know
where that is." Patrick hung up, told Epiphany to call OR and
stop them from operating. Then he rushed off to OR. Epiphany dialed
rapidly, but no one in the operating room noticed the flashing phone
light. Monica, Matt, Elizabeth, and Leyla had Earl prepped when the blood
arrived. Patrick took the stairs as Matt made the first incision. Jason
and Spinelli rushed to GH. In her new home, Robin became increasingly
tense as Emma cried forlornly. Patrick reached the OR as Matt opened Earl
Bragg. Before Patrick could warn them about the danger, blood splattered
the surgical team. Then Leyla, Matt, Monica, and Elizabeth crumpled to the
floor.
While Patrick banged on the observation window, hoping to stop the
surgery, pandemonium broke out in the Operating Room. As the doctors and
nurses collapsed, Patrick was powerless to do anything but watch.
Elizabeth made it to the door and tried to get out but she was overcome
before she could do more than open the door a crack. Patrick rushed to the
nearest phone to call for help. When he spotted Sam, he asked her why no
one had gotten through to the doctors in the OR. Sam said that Epiphany
had tried but she had been unsuccessful. While Patrick reached for the
phone, Sam started to go to the aid of those who were trapped in the OR.
Patrick stopped her and reminded her that she was just as susceptible the
poison in the room as everyone else.
Jason was in his car, racing to the hospital, while he updated Agent
Rayner about what he had discovered. Jason told Rayner that a man named
Earl Bragg had been taken to the hospital after a car crash. Jason was
positive that Bragg was the man that Rayner was looking for. Jason went on
to tell him that when he called Patrick to tell him that his patient could
be carrying poison, Patrick had yelled for someone to call the OR to stop
the surgery. Rayner was stunned. He realized that if they opened Bragg up,
the poison could become airborne and kill everyone. As soon as Jason
arrived at the hospital, he tried to get answers from Epiphany.
Unfortunately, Epiphany had no idea what was going on. She told Jason that
she had tried to call the OR but had not been able to reach anyone. Jason
told Epiphany to expect a call from the FBI then dashed off to the OR.
At home, Robin was on the phone with the pediatrics department at General
Hospital. Robin wanted them to send over a nurse to watch Emma while Robin
went to the benefit function at the hospital. To Robin's frustration no
one was available to accommodate her demands. Robin ended the call then
threw a vase across the room while Emma cried inconsolably. Robin ignored
Emma's cries as she focused on cleaning up the mess that she had made.
When Emma stopped crying, Robin tried to convince herself that her
daughter was fine. She decided to check Emma but couldn't bring herself to
pick her baby up.
When Jason caught up to Patrick, Patrick filled him in on what had
happened after he had last spoken to Jason. Jason called Rayner then
handed the phone to Patrick so that he could update the agent on what had
happened. Rayner told Patrick that it was imperative that no one left the
OR. The toxin was airborne and could contaminate anyone who came into
contact with it. Jason instructed him to find out where the air ducts from
the OR led. While Spinelli worked on that, Patrick donned a biohazard suit
so that he could enter the OR. The first person he found was Elizabeth. He
picked her up, carried her out and gently laid her down on a gurney. Jason
was rattled when he saw Elizabeth's unconscious body. A quick check
confirmed that she was alive but in critical condition. Medical personnel
rushed her off to the Intensive Care Unit. Patrick returned to the OR for
the next victim, Matt. Matt refused to be rescued before the others. Jason
received a second blow when Patrick carried Monica out. She was in the
same condition as Elizabeth. Other than the patient, Earl Bragg, the only
other casualty was Andy Archer, the anesthesiologist. Patrick soon joined
Jason, Sam, and Spinelli in the hospital's lobby, bearing grim news. Only
one sphere, out of five, of biotoxin, had been found inside Earl Bragg's
body. The x-ray had clearly shown that there had been five just before the
surgery. When Rayner learned about the four missing spheres, he ordered
Patrick to return to the OR to find them.
Patrick, Jason, and Spinelli told Agent Rayner that the dangerous toxins
were being transmitted through vents into the boardroom where a charity
event was taking place. Agent Rayner insisted they seal off the boardroom
and not allow anyone in or out. Patrick handed the phone back to Spinelli,
and the FBI agent told the computer genius that Spinelli would need to
hack into the hospital's mainframe to shut down the ventilation system.
Patrick realized he needed to get into the operating room and shut off the
vents so the toxins wouldn't spread any further. Sam tried to convince him
to allow her to do it, and she reminded him that he had a family at home
that needed him. Patrick was determined to shut off the vents himself,
though. He put the biohazard suit back on and entered the quarantined
operating room, quickly covering up the vents. He approached the patient
and started looking around inside the wound to try to find the toxic
balls. Once his task was complete, Patrick went back to the waiting area
and called Agent Rayner to tell him he found all the toxic balls. One had
been cut open from the surgery, but the others were severely compromised
from the patient's stomach acid. It would be up to the FBI to retrieve
them without endangering more lives.
Lulu, Sam and Patrick went back to the waiting area and discussed the
situation. Lulu's chief concern was that the toxin had been released at
some extent into the main hospital before it was contained in the
operating room. The FBI wanted to keep things quiet, so they were making
no formal announcement. They all seemed to think that putting the entire
hospital under quarantine would be the safest bet. Suddenly, Patrick
looked over and saw a nurse collapse. Epiphany walked over and asked what
was going on in her hospital. The team caught her up to speed while
Patrick called and spoke with Agent Rayner. The entire hospital needed to
be quarantined, and finally the FBI agreed with that decision. Jason
rushed to the doors to lock everyone in as Patrick made the announcement.
It wasn't long before Epiphany was at the door, trying to reassure
patients and get them back in their beds. Unknown to everyone at the
hospital, someone had entered the quarantined operating room and was
trying to obtain the dangerous toxic balls from the deceased patient, Earl
Braggs.
Robin tried to give Emma her bottle, but the little girl wasn't interested
in eating. Robin told her daughter she didn't want to pick her up, because
Emma would just cry anyway. Robin spoke out loud and said she felt like
Emma knew that her mother didn't know what she was doing. Robin was saved
when she heard the doorbell ring. Mac was there to check on Robin and the
new house. For some reason, Robin thought that was endearing coming from
her Uncle Mac and not insulting as she felt with Patrick. Emma started to
cry, and Robin told her uncle that the little girl was just getting up.
Mac asked if he could get some baby time, and Robin was thrilled to have
Mac there to take care of Emma. It wasn't long before Emma had taken her
bottle and gone back to sleep. Mac realized there was something wrong with
his niece and asked what was going on. Robin said she was upset because
her babysitter had backed out at the last moment, so Robin wasn't able to
go to the benefit for Michael Corinthos. Robin asked if her uncle would
mind staying and watching Emma so Robin could go to the benefit. Mac said
he would love to help out, but he didn't want Robin going out due to the
dangerous, snowy night. There was too much risk going out in a blizzard
like that. Robin assured him her van was safe and equipped for their
weather. Mac finally agreed to watch Emma, but just as Robin buttoned her
coat to leave, Mac's phone rang. It was Agent Rayner with the FBI. Mac had
to get to the station as quickly as possible. Robin thanked Mac for his
efforts to babysit Emma but said she understood he couldn't stay. Once Mac
rushed off, Robin sighed and realized it was just her and Emma again.
Patrick checked on Matt and Leyla, who was still unconscious. Matt was
awake, so Patrick told him what had happened. Matt felt responsible
because it was "his" surgical team. Patrick said that by Matt's
reasoning, Patrick would be at fault, because originally, Patrick, not
Matt, was supposed to perform the surgery. Patrick told Matt that as his
brother and his doctor, Patrick would make sure that he pulled through.
Leyla woke up, but Patrick told her to rest. She took off her mask and
told Patrick that she was really glad that he was happy, and she wished
him the best, especially since she had found her own happiness. Patrick
thanked her and put the breathing mask back over her mouth and nose. A few
moments later, Leyla coughed, then coded. Patrick called for a crash cart
and started doing CPR, while Matt struggled to get out of bed to help.
Jason and Sam noticed that one of the toxic balls was missing.
In the ICU, Leyla's heart stopped and Patrick immediately started
administering CPR. Other nurses, including Epiphany, came into the room to
assist. They tried multiple times to shock Leyla's heart, but finally
Patrick had to admit defeat and declared Leyla dead. Back at the nurse's
station, Epiphany showed a picture of a young man to Patrick. Leyla had
asked Epiphany to retrieve it from her locker. The picture was of Leyla's
fiancé. Leyla had intended to marry the man during the upcoming summer.
Later, the very man in the picture approached Patrick. He acknowledged
there was a crisis going on. Patrick stopped the man from continuing when
he realized the man was Leyla's fiancé. The man said he had paged Leyla,
but she hadn't called him back yet. Patrick had the unfortunate task of
telling the man that Leyla had passed away only moments before. Sam walked
over and helped the man to a private sitting area so he could grieve.
Then, she walked back to speak with Patrick and Sonny about the toxins.
Sonny wanted an update on what was going on, and Sam revealed to both men
that one of the toxic spheres from the operating room was missing. Patrick
told them that the outer shell of the spheres had been severely
compromised. More people could die.
Robin stood over Emma's crib and wondered aloud why the little girl was
crying. Robin told her daughter she loved her but didn't know what to do
to make her happy. She thought maybe Emma wasn't feeling well and put her
hand to Emma's forehead. Robin realized Emma was burning up with fever.
Initially, Robin wasn't concerned. She was going to give Emma medicine to
bring down the fever and everything would be okay. However, once Robin
took her little girl's temperature, she realized the fever was too high
for simple medication. She bundled Emma up and prepared to make the trip
to the hospital after leaving a voicemail for Patrick. Patrick talked to
Spinelli and Sam about Earl Bragg and the toxins. Suddenly, he decided to
check his voicemail since he hadn't heard from Robin. He listened to the
message about Emma having a fever and Patrick told Spinelli and Sam that
Robin was headed to General Hospital.
Patrick was in the Emergency Room with Epiphany. He was trying to reach
Robin and frustrated that he couldn't get through to her. He is worried
that Emma has a fever and is driving through a blizzard and she isn't
familiar with the new area the house is in (didn't they move right next
door to the Spencer house?). Despite Epiphany's assurances to Patrick that
Robin was a doctor and would know what to do for Emma, Patrick focused on
her getting lost, or in an accident. Jason pulled him asid and asked him
to focus on the biotoxin situation, if not a lot more people would die.
Sam called Mac and he said he would send a car out to Robin's house.
Patrick was momentarily mollified and returned his attention to the
crisis. Patrick told Carly about the missing sphere of biotoxin. He wanted
to know if anyone in the boardroom might have taken it. Carly did not have
any answers, but promised to keep an eye out for anything suspicious. Back
at the nurses' station, Patrick was on the phone with Agent Rayner, who
was demanding that Patrick find the missing sphere. Patrick demanded that
someone find his missing wife and child before he slammed down the phone.
Tracy confronted Patrick in the hallway and started lambasting him. She
collapsed before finishing her tirade. Emma's carryall became too heavy
for Robin to handle, so she tucked Emma under her coat and left it. Robin
was lost as she and Emma began to trudge through the knee-deep snow.
As they were driving, Maxie and Johnny spotted a stranded minivan on the
side of the road. They pulled over to see if the driver needed help. As
soon as Maxie approached the van, she realized that it was Robin's
vehicle. Worried that something had happened to her cousin, Maxie set out
to search for Robin. Johnny thought it was a bad idea because of the heavy
snowfall. He offered to look for Robin himself if Maxie agreed to stay
behind, but Maxie stubbornly refused. Realizing that it was pointless to
argue, Johnny led the way into the woods. Their search proved difficult.
At one point, Johnny decided that they should return to their car. He
feared for their own welfare as the storm continued to bear down on them.
Maxie wouldn't give up. She was prepared to forge ahead without Johnny
when she suddenly spotted something in the snow. Johnny went to check.
Their hopes plunged when Johnny uncovered Emma's empty carrier. Fueled by
fear, Maxie and Johnny searched the nearby area until they stumbled on
Robin. She had collapsed in the snow. When Maxie helped Robin to sit up,
Emma was nowhere to be seen. Maxie asked her cousin where Emma was, but
Robin seemed confused. She didn't seem to know where Emma was.
Patrick was on hand when Tracy collapsed, the latest victim of the deadly
toxin. With Carly's assistance, help arrived to whisk Tracy off to ICU.
Patrick updated Agent Rayner on the situation at the hospital. Patrick was
frustrated with Rayner's inability to provide crucial information, which
might help Patrick treat the critically ill patients felled by the
biotoxin. Rayner was sympathetic, but his hands were tied. He insisted
that his FBI superiors had stymied all his efforts to gather medical
information to help Patrick. The only thing that Rayner could do to help
the hospital was to arrange to have the biotoxin spheres removed. When
Patrick ended the call, Jason, Sam, and Spinelli asked for an update. When
Spinelli learned that the FBI would arrive with a team to extract the
biotoxin, he became upset. He was convinced that the Equinox Corporation
was behind everything. Spinelli begged Patrick to keep the biotoxin from
falling into Equinox's hands. Patrick told Spinelli that he didn't have
the authority to stop the FBI from entering the hospital. He reminded
Spinelli that his priority was treating the patients who had been affected
by the deadly poison.
Maxie and Johnny tried to warm Robin up and get her to remember where she
had left Emma. Suddenly, Johnny and Maxie heard crying. They looked up and
found Emma in a tree not far from where they were. Maxie grabbed the
little girl and was relieved to find she was okay. All four of them walked
back to the van, where the girls got in and Johnny tried to get the van
running again. Robin kept repeating herself, saying that Emma had a fever.
Robin had been trying to find a house where someone would help her or find
a place where her cell phone would work. Johnny knocked on the window and
told Maxie to try to start the engine. Maxie tried to hand Emma off to
Robin, but Robin wouldn't take her little girl. She kept saying that Emma
was all right. A frustrated Maxie held Emma as she got in the front seat
and turned the key to the van. After Johnny managed to get the van
running, he started driving the group to the nearest hospital. He wasn't
sure if Mercy Hospital or General Hospital was closest, though. Emma was
distraught and wouldn't stop crying, although Maxie didn't think the
little girl's fever was very high. Maxie seemed more concerned about
Robin, though. Robin refused to hold Emma, even after Maxie said she
thought Emma wanted her mother. Robin was also acting delirious, and
Johnny and Maxie thought Robin could be suffering from hypothermia. Robin
closed her eyes and appeared unconscious. Maxie told Johnny that Robin
wasn't acting like herself. Robin was normally a planner and didn't act so
unprepared.
Patrick found Sam and asked if she had seen Spinelli. Patrick needed to
find out if Emma and Robin had been admitted to Mercy Hospital. Sam hadn't
seen Spinelli in a little while, but she was concerned that Spinelli had
done something crazy and gotten himself into trouble. Patrick was worried
Spinelli might have found a way to leave the building, but Sam was sure
Spinelli wouldn't have done that. Spinelli knew he was the only one who
could enable the hospital to communicate with the outside world, so no one
thought he would abandon them. Sam was worried because Spinelli didn't
want the poison falling back into the hands of the Equinox Corporation.
She was afraid he would do something daring, and Patrick thought he might
endanger the rest of the people at the hospital. Patrick and Sam's
conversation was halted when Patrick's cell phone rang. It was Robin, and
the cell phone connection was bad. Patrick tried to tell Robin to go to
Mercy Hospital, but she couldn't hear him. When Patrick hung up, Sam
assured him that the phone call had at least verified that Robin was okay.
Patrick worried about his daughter, though.
Maxie, Johnny, Robin, and Emma arrived at General Hospital, where Jax
greeted them outside. Jax told them about the poison that had been
released and how the hospital was on lockdown. Robin was concerned about
Patrick and asked if anyone had seen her husband. Spinelli and Winnifred
were in the OR watching the clean-up team, who were preparing to transport
the deadly poison, when Spinelli noticed something amiss. He shouted out a
warning, but it was too late. He barely had time to guide Winnifred out of
the OR before it exploded in flames. After the explosion, Jax and Rayner
went head-to-head in the police trailer with Robin, Johnny, Maxie, and
Emma standing by. Jax told Rayner he was going in for Carly, whether
Rayner liked it or not. Robin wanted to talk to Patrick, who called Rayner
to report the OR explosion. Rayner did not mention that Robin was there,
and Patrick hung up to go try to keep the fire from spreading to the room
that held the oxygen tanks. Maxie wanted Robin to take Emma to Mercy, but
Robin insisted that she was needed at GH. Robin asked Johnny and Maxie to
take Emma for treatment at Mercy Hospital. At Mercy, Johnny used his
Zacchara clout to get preferential treatment when it appeared that Emma
would have to wait a long time to be seen by a doctor. Nikolas found
Patrick, who pressed him into service with a fire extinguisher. Patrick
hoped to put it out or at least prevent it from reaching the stored oxygen
tanks. Despite a valiant effort, they were forced to retreat.
**The End**
