Robin & Patrick #9  February 9 - May 14, 2009 - 8 hour original edit

DVD #9A  February 9, 2009 Johnny, Maxie, Robin, and Emma arrived outside the hospital. Jax was there and told them about the quarantine. After the explosion, Jax and Rayner went head-to-head in the police trailer with Robin, Johnny, Maxie, and Emma standing by. Jax told Rayner he was going in for Carly, whether Rayner liked it or not. Robin wanted to talk to Patrick, who called Rayner to report the OR explosion. Rayner did not mention that Robin was there, and Patrick hung up to go try to keep the fire from spreading to the room that held the oxygen tanks.

Maxie wanted Robin to take Emma to Mercy, but Robin insisted that she was needed at GH, and she sent Johnny and Maxie to the hospital with Emma. Nikolas found Patrick, who pressed him into service with a fire extinguisher. Patrick hoped to put it out or at least prevent it from reaching the stored oxygen tanks. Despite a valiant effort, they were forced to retreat.

At Mercy, Johnny used his Zacchara clout to get preferential treatment when it appeared that Emma would have to wait a long time to be seen by a doctor. When Johnny apologized, Maxie said she did not mind and, in fact, he could feel free to do it any time for her. The doctor was very abrupt and treated Maxie scornfully as he asked questions about Emma and her exposure to the elements. When he took Emma away for tests, Maxie became increasingly concerned about Robin's behavior toward Emma. Maxie said that if anything bad happened to Emma, Robin would blame herself, and Maxie said she would blame Robin, too. When the doctor came back, he told Johnny and Maxie that Emma had pneumonia.

Amid the chaos, Robin and Patrick managed to connect on the phone. He wanted to know about Emma. Robin was blasé when she told him that she had sent Emma with Johnny and Maxie so that she could help with the evacuation. She hung up before Patrick could say more. After Robin and Epiphany wheeled patients out of the hospital, Robin was ready to return for more, but Epiphany told her that she had done enough, and ordered her to go to Mercy to be with her sick child. Olivia got the scoop from Patrick and hurried back to Kate so that they could evacuate the hospital together.

Robin worked to evacuate people while a young woman with a newborn baby fretted over taking her baby out in the cold. Robin realized she hadn't worried that much when she took Emma out that night. Epiphany and another nurse headed to the nursery to get more babies for transport, and Robin followed. Epiphany asked Robin to bundle up a little girl in the corner, and Robin had difficulty picking the little girl up. She started to squirm as the newborn girl began to fuss.

Mac had spoken with Patrick, who had informed him that a rooftop evacuation was the only way to rescue people above the fifth floor. Mac couldn't risk it, though, because the blizzard was making helicopter flights too dangerous. Jax wouldn't allow all those people to just burn, though. He decided to volunteer to fly his helicopter to the top of the hospital.

Robin was in an examination room with an infant in her arms. As she rocked the baby, she talked about Emma being at Mercy Hospital. Robin was teary-eyed as she told the baby that Emma was very sick and probably needed her mother. Epiphany walked in to let Robin know that they were ready to transport the baby to another hospital. When Epiphany tried to take the baby from Robin, Robin stopped her. Robin said she was fine, then led the way out of the room still holding the baby.

Maxie and Johnny waited in an exam room with Emma. Maxie was worried about Robin because of her odd behavior. She had no idea why Robin had put Emma in Maxie's care instead of staying with her sick child. Maxie was concerned that she would make the wrong decision on Emma's behalf. When the doctor walked in, he told Maxie and Johnny that their daughter's test results suggested that they had two options available to treat Emma's pneumonia. The doctor reviewed both avenues with them, but Maxie was unable to decide which course to follow.

Dread of making the wrong choice prompted Maxie to reveal to the doctor that they were not Emma's parents. The doctor was not amused. He made it clear that he needed one of Emma's parents to make a decision as soon as possible. Johnny went to find Robin while Maxie stayed behind with Emma. After Johnny left, Maxie prayed for Georgie to watch over Emma.

Sonny and Patrick converged in the hallway were Spinelli, Winnifred, Jason, and Carly were gathered. They discussed their options and decided that they needed to get everyone to the rooftop in the hopes that another rescue attempt would be made. Patrick returned to the people gathered in the hallway waiting for evacuation. He told everyone that they were to head to the rooftop.

The doctor told Maxie that antibiotics were no longer an option for Emma. He warned Maxie that Emma's condition was dire; he needed one of her parents to authorize treatment as soon as possible. Robin walked into the temporary police shelter to update Mac on what was going on at the hospital. As she was talking, Johnny walked in. He told her that Emma was in critical condition and that Robin was needed at the hospital. Robin had little reaction to the news. When she didn't follow Johnny, he reminded her that it was urgent. He had to practically drag Robin out of the door with him.

Maxie rocked Emma in her arms in an effort to comfort the crying baby. She was relieved when Robin finally arrived to take over. Robin stared at Emma for a few moments then slowly took her into her arms. Maxie and Johnny watched as Robin cuddled with Emma on an exam bed, gently rocking her. When the doctor came in to talk to Robin about Emma's condition, Maxie and Johnny stepped out of the room. After the doctor stepped out of the room, Maxie checked on Robin and Emma. Emma rested peacefully in her mother's arms, so Maxie asked if there was anything that Robin needed. Robin asked her cousin to find Patrick and bring him to Mercy Hospital.

After Maxie left, Robin sang a lullaby to Emma then told her daughter about how she had met Patrick. She finished the tale by telling Emma how much Robin and Patrick loved their daughter. A short time later, the doctor returned to check on Emma. The news was good; Emma's condition had taken a turn for the better. The doctor credited the power of a mother's love for the improvement.

While Edward, Tracy, and Matt were boarding the helicopter, Patrick assured Jax that they would find Carly. On one of the floors of the hospital, Patrick found Lucky, Ric, Olivia, and Lulu gathered. He urged them to head to the rooftop, but Olivia was reluctant to go. Olivia wanted to find Kate first. Patrick told her that she didn't have time. His temper flared as he yelled at everyone. He told them that they were making matters worse, not better, by remaining in the hospital.

Jason met up with Patrick in one of the hallways, and Patrick asked where Spinelli was. Patrick had found Spinelli's laptop and was worried, thinking Spinelli would never leave his laptop behind. Jason said it was possibly Spinelli was doing something risky and stupid, trying to save someone's life. The two men left in opposite directions, and Patrick rounded the corner to find Kate and Claudia arguing. Patrick said Kate and Claudia would be the next people rescued once Jax returned. There was only a small window of time left that Jax would be able to continue with his rescue efforts.

Patrick walked over to their ambulance, making Matt much more relieved. The three medical personnel talked about whether or not General Hospital would be rebuilt. Patrick became emotional and reminisced about everything that had happened in his life at General Hospital. He would make sure the hospital would be rebuilt. They decided to head out to Mercy Hospital but were stopped by Agent Rayner. He wanted to speak with Patrick. Matt would have to go to Mercy on his own. Matt was upset that Patrick was being drawn into the questioning. Matt thought he would have more information than his brother, especially since Matt had been the one who performed the initial surgery that started all the chaos. Nadine noticed Matt was getting more agitated, so she decided it was time to go to Mercy Hospital. Just as Nadine prepared to shut the ambulance doors, Nikolas and Rebecca walked over and asked if there was any more room in the ambulance.

In a hospital room at Mercy, Robin held Emma and told her how lucky they had been to survive. She shared her love with Emma, who continued to improve. Mac came to check on Robin and to let her know that Patrick was safe, but being interrogated by Rayner, because he was an eyewitness. Robin was glad to see Mac and they talked about the decisions that public servants, like doctors and policemen, had to make between duty and family. Robin felt that she had made the correct decision to send Emma to Mercy with Maxie and Johnny while she helped evacuate GH. Mac agreed.

Patrick became increasingly frustrated as the FBI interrogation seemed to be never-ending. He wanted to get home to Emma and Robin. Finally, Agent Rayner seemed satisfied with the information from Patrick and allowed the young father to leave. Patrick went to Mercy Hospital first but arrived after Mac had taken Robin and Emma home. Sonny found Patrick in Emma's room and assured him that Emma was doing fine. Robin also seemed to be doing much better. Patrick appeared relieved to hear his family was doing so well. As Patrick started to leave, Sonny thanked him for his part in the heroics from the hospital. Patrick wasted no time getting home and reuniting with his family. He was relieved to see Robin holding Emma and acting more affectionate towards their daughter.

Robin and Patrick snuggled on the sofa with Emma. Both parents were happy to be home with their daughter, safe and sound. Patrick admitted that he assumed there would be more casualties to come as a result of the biotoxin. However, rather than dwell on his dark thoughts, he changed the subject by asking Robin about her race to the hospital during the blizzard. Robin told Patrick that she was through acting as if she had all of the answers because her arrogance had nearly cost Emma her life. Patrick listened as Robin told him about the van breaking down, her trek through the blizzard, and putting Emma in the shelter of a tree to keep her from perishing in the snow. Patrick felt guilty because he had not been there for his family, but Robin refused to let Patrick take responsibility. She reminded him that the crisis at the hospital was beyond his control.

Robin told him that she had not acted rationally. Leaving the security of their home to go into a blizzard to seek medical assistance when all Emma needed was fluids had been a mistake. Patrick thought that Robin was too hard on herself, but Robin disagreed. Later, when Emma began fussing, Patrick stood up to check on his daughter. After he picked the baby up from her bassinette, he asked Robin if she wanted to give Emma her bottle. Robin declined the offer. She said that she knew how much Patrick had missed Emma; therefore she understood that he wanted to feed their daughter.

Robin and Patrick were at home taking it easy on the couch. Robin told Patrick that she had made reservations for their favorite French restaurant, but Patrick just wanted to spend a cozy night at home. Robin suggested that they get a nanny so that she could go back to work. She got defensive when Patrick wondered why she was changing her mind about staying home with Emma. Robin accused him of insinuating that she had post partum depression. Patrick defused the situation quickly when he told Robin that he did not want to fight. Patrick told Robin that he wanted to celebrate their survival after the horrific events of the previous day. Robin said she felt the same way. They hugged and Patrick apologized for giving Robin the wrong impression. She apologized for jumping to conclusions. Patrick told Robin to start looking for a nanny if that would make her happy.

Maxie has a dream that BJ lived and Maxie died. In her dream, Maxie watched as Robin visited Maxie's grave, and she was horrified to see the outfit Robin was wearing. Robin spoke to the grave and said life seemed to stop when Maxie had died, and she was still living with Mac. Robin wasn't able to stand up for herself and seemed to have little motivation to change her life. Later, Monica apologized to Robin for not being able to save Maxie's life.

Instead of Robin marrying Patrick, Carly was actually married to Patrick. Tony had still cheated on Bobbie with Carly, but he also had married Carly. While married to Tony, Carly had cheated on him with Patrick. Despite her infidelities, Carly had managed to milk every penny she could from Tony during the divorce. That money had been used to fund Patrick's medical school expenses. Both Carly and Patrick appeared very unhappy in their marriage and seemed to be cheating on each other. Carly told her husband she was unhappy because she had always wanted children, but Patrick said Carly wasn't fit to be a mother.

Patrick was the Chief of Staff at General Hospital, and the rumor was that he was about to fire some of the hospital staff. Monica, Bobbie, and Robin searched his office for any clues as to who would be laid off, especially since Patrick had just fired some of the staff the previous year. Later, Robin brought a report on a patient into Patrick's office. She was recommending drug therapy for the patient, but Patrick disagreed and said surgery was the only option. Robin said she could live with that, but she hoped the patient could also live with that. Patrick was upset and asked if Robin was undermining his decision.

Robin apologized and changed the subject by asking if the rumors about additional layoffs were true. Patrick asked Robin if she was asking if she was on the list. He thought moving to a new city and getting a different job would be a good thing for Robin. She asked him to be straight with her and tell her if she was being laid off. Patrick said Robin was good at her job and it was secure. Robin was also concerned with other members of the staff, though. Patrick opened the door for her to leave and said his position as Chief of Staff and surgeon had given him the necessary skills and experience to do whatever was needed in any given situation.

As Robin was leaving Patrick's office, Monica approached her and said the bartender from Jake's had called about Mac. Robin quickly left the hospital to go pick up Mac. When she arrived at Jake's, she paid the tab and helped Mac stumble to the car. Maxie painfully watched the dream unfold, unable to believe what had become of her hero.

During a musical montage, Patrick gave a termination letter to Bobbie. Carly and Johnny danced at Jake's until she leaned in to kiss him. He pulled away and laughed at her, so she tried to slap him. He grabbed her hand and walked out of the bar. Meanwhile, Robin brought Mac home where he collapsed on the couch, passed out after his drinking binge. This ends Maxie’s dream.

Patrick arrived home and fed Emma while Robin rushed to get ready to run errands. Patrick wanted Robin to stay home with him and Emma, but the to do list had gotten too long for Robin to ignore it any longer. Patrick understood Robin's need to leave the house, which made Robin feel guilty. He insisted she go, but Robin promised she would be home soon.

Patrick talked to his young daughter until there was a knock at the door. It was Sonny. The environment at his home had become deep, so Sonny wanted to see Emma and re-evaluate his situation. While Sonny was there, Patrick received a phone call from the hospital. One of his patients was ill and needed immediate surgery. Sonny offered to babysit Emma, and Patrick agreed.

Robin was surprised to see Sonny at her house with Emma. They changed the subject to Sonny and his new bride, and Robin wanted to know if he planned on divorcing the horrible woman, since Anthony was in jail. Sonny said he wouldn't divorce Claudia because of her commitment to him when she told him about her father double-crossing Sonny.

At Mercy Hospital, Patrick gave Elizabeth a checkup. After he updated her medical chart, Patrick sat down to talk to her about Robin. Patrick wanted to know if Elizabeth thought Robin suffered from post-partum depression. Elizabeth reminded Patrick that she wasn't qualified to diagnose Robin. However, she did admit that Robin seemed a bit overwhelmed. Elizabeth thought that it could simply be a result of being a new parent. Elizabeth explained that being home alone all day with a newborn could be stressful. Elizabeth credited Audrey with helping her through the difficulties of motherhood after the birth of Jake and Cameron.

Patrick realized that Elizabeth had a valid point; he told her that they were looking for a nanny to help Robin. Lucky interrupted them when he brought the boys to visit their mother. Patrick watched as Elizabeth happily greeted her children with hugs and kisses. Later, Patrick returned to Elizabeth's room to let her know that her blood panel came back with good results, so she was free to go home. Elizabeth was delighted by the news and made plans with her children to celebrate her homecoming with ice cream, cake, and pizza. Lucky took a moment to thank Patrick for everything he had done during the crisis at General Hospital. Patrick humbly downplayed his bravery then left the room.

Robin went to Crimson to invite Maxie to lunch. Maxie appreciated the offer but said that she was swamped with work. However, she did take a few minutes to visit with Robin. Maxie told her cousin that she was concerned because she sensed that something was off with Robin. Robin didn't deny it, but she attributed it to stress. Robin said that she felt pressured by Patrick because he seemed to constantly question her behavior. Maxie was sympathetic and offered Robin words of encouragement. Robin appreciated Maxie's support.

Later, Robin went to the Haunted Star, where she found Ethan with his hand in the cashbox. He explained that he was the new bartender, then offered to make her a drink. Robin sat down at the bar and accepted the cocktail. While Robin sipped on her drink, she asked Ethan about his accent, explaining that her father and uncle were from Australia. Ethan was a bit vague about where he was from. Instead, he focused on Robin. When he noticed her wedding ring, Robin confirmed that she was married. She also revealed that she was a doctor at General Hospital. However, when Ethan guessed that she didn't have any children, Robin didn't correct him.

At Mercy Hospital, Matt witnessed Patrick berating a nurse. Matt intervened before the situation escalated. Matt apologized to the nurse on behalf of his brother, then pulled Patrick aside to talk to him. Patrick admitted that he was mad at Robin, not the nurse. With some prodding from Matt, Patrick confided that Robin had been behaving oddly. Patrick told Matt about Robin's frantic search for a new house, her inability to nurture Emma, and her request for a nanny. Patrick was worried that Robin suffered from post-partum depression. Matt suggested that Patrick consult a professional, but Patrick was resistant to the idea. He decided that Robin just needed more time to accustom herself to motherhood. Matt referred Patrick to a colleague who specialized in post-partum depression. Before Matt walked away, he urged Patrick to call the doctor.

At the Haunted Star, Robin told Ethan that she didn't have time for children. Ethan was curious about Robin's upbringing. He was impressed when Robin told him that her parents were spies. She also told him that she hadn't met her father until she was six years old. Ethan revealed that he had been abandoned by his birth parents as a baby. Unfortunately, Ethan's adoptive parents were killed years earlier, so he was alone in the world. Ethan couldn't help but wonder why people bothered having children if they never spent any time with them. Robin was uncomfortable with the direction of the conversation. She quickly gathered her things then left before Ethan could stop her. On the docks, Robin stopped to call home. Judy, Emma's babysitter, answered the phone. After Robin offered tips to keep Emma content, she told Judy that there had been a change of plans. Robin said that she needed Judy to stay with Emma for the remainder of the day. Luckily, Judy agreed.

At Mercy Hospital, Sonny asked if Robin would mind consulting on Michael's experimental treatment. She was happy to help, but Patrick walked over to the group and said Robin wouldn't have the time. Sonny was aware of the tension and left the pair to sort things out. In the lobby of Mercy Hospital, Robin and Patrick argued. Patrick was concerned about Emma and Robin's lack of attention to their daughter. He handed Robin a card for a psychiatrist that specialized in postpartum depression. This enraged Robin even more, and she stormed out of the hospital.

Robin arrived home and started doing laundry until Maxie stopped by. Robin explained the fight with Patrick to her cousin. Maxie offered some good insight and said Patrick was just getting used to the parenting thing. Maxie had heard mothers talk about the feeling they had the first time they held their child, and Robin couldn't expect Patrick to understand that sensitivity. Maxie also pointed out that Robin wasn't making things easy for Patrick.

Back at Robin's house, Lulu stopped by with Robin's wallet. Robin hadn't even noticed it was missing, but Lulu explained that the new bartender at the Haunted Star must have stolen it. He was claiming that Robin had been at the bar in the middle of the day, but Lulu didn't believe him. Patrick walked in as Lulu said Ethan was also making claims that Robin said she had no children.

Robin hurriedly hushed Lulu, who had just pilled out her story about Ethan and his claim that Robin had been on the Haunted Star and had told him she had no children as Patrick walked in the door. Lulu tried to repeat her tale about Ethan to Patrick, but Robin cut her off and covered by saying that Lulu would have to speak to Luke on her own. She made it sound like Lulu had come to her to ask her to intercede with Luke. Before Patrick could find out more, Emma started crying and Robin sent Patrick to take care of her. Once he was gone, Robin told Lulu that Patrick worried about her, and he would get overprotective if he knew her wallet had been found anywhere near the Haunted Star.

Lulu bought Robin's story and agreed to drop the matter of Ethan, and his story that Robin had been on the Haunted Star earlier that day, drinking and denying that she had a child. Lulu was gone when Patrick finished feeding Emma. He and Robin had another argument. She accused him of overreacting and continued to deny that she had postpartum depression or that there was anything wrong in her behavior or her relationship with Emma. She told Patrick that being a parent was harder that she thought and she wanted her life back. Patrick wondered where that would leave Emma.

Robin was still in denial about her problems. She told Patrick that she needed her work as much as he did and that she had been wrong when she thought that she could be a stay at home mom. She said that everything would be okay if he would just help her hire a nanny so that they could both work. He said fine, they would get a nanny and, in the meantime, he would stay home with Emma, never mind if someone needed brain surgery. Robin retorted that he was making his job more important than hers.  Before they could say more, Carly knocked on the door. When Patrick opened it, she told him that she wanted him to perform the procedure on Michael.

Patrick arrived at the facility and warned Carly that the outcome might not be what she wanted. Carly understood there were no guarantees, so Patrick left to prepare for the test. Robin soon arrived to observe the surgery, but Patrick wasn't happy about her making the trip. When Carly and Jax walked out of Michael's room and saw Robin, Carly was furious. She didn't want Robin anywhere near the operating room while the tests were being done on Michael.  Robin was only there because Sonny had asked her to consult on Michael's situation, but everyone was upset that she hadn't told anyone she would be there. When Sonny showed up, he didn't defend Robin except to say that he had asked her to be there. As soon as Robin was gone, Carly told Patrick he could begin the procedure.

Patrick called Robin from the long-term care facility where Michael was a resident. He told her that Michael's procedure went well, then asked Robin how things fared at home. Robin bristled at the question. She sniped that everything was fine. Matt stopped by to visit Robin and Emma. Robin suspected that Patrick was behind the visit, but Matt insisted that it had been a spontaneous decision. Robin apologized for jumping to conclusions. Matt assured her that he understood; he claimed it was normal for women with post-partum depression to be moody. Robin was outraged by the suggestion that she suffered from PPD. In her fury, she threw Matt out of her home. When Matt returned to the hospital, he ran into Patrick. Patrick was incensed when Matt confessed that he had suggested to Robin that she suffered from PPD. Matt was unapologetic. He warned his brother that Patrick's denial about Robin's situation would not help; she needed to talk to a professional.

Mike was delighted when he saw Robin walk into Kelly's, pushing Emma's stroller. As Robin settled down at a table, Elizabeth entered. Elizabeth lit up when she saw Emma. While Elizabeth picked up Emma, Robin watched with a slightly strained smile. When Elizabeth sat down to cuddle with the baby, Robin carefully broached the subject of PPD. She asked Elizabeth if Patrick had asked Elizabeth to check on Robin and Emma because he feared that she suffered from PPD.  Elizabeth made it clear that Patrick had not asked her to check on Robin. Elizabeth said that she visited Robin because they were neighbors and friends.

Robin appeared to relax. She admitted to Elizabeth that she was ready to return to work. Elizabeth understood Robin's desire to work, because she knew how easy it was for a new mother to become wrapped up in being a mommy to the exclusion of everything else. When Mike told Elizabeth that her pick-up order was ready, Elizabeth tried to hand Emma back to Robin. Instead of taking her daughter from Elizabeth, Robin offered to fetch the box of food while Elizabeth strapped Emma into the stroller. After she walked Elizabeth to the door, Robin's cell phone rang. It was the hospital notifying Robin of an emergency situation. Robin snatched up her coat, then left Kelly's without a backward glance at Emma.

Robin arrived at Mercy Hospital minutes before several ambulances, transporting injured children, were scheduled to arrive. A doctor updated Robin on the situation before they prepared for the incoming traumas. Later, Robin consulted with a doctor on staff about the injuries that she had treated. The doctor thanked Robin for her help. Minutes later, Nikolas entered the hospital. When he saw Robin, he commented that she looked stressed. Robin brushed away his concerns as the two friends sat down to visit with each other.

Nikolas mentioned that he was scheduled to meet Edward and Monica in order to go over plans for General Hospital's re-opening. Nikolas worried that Edward and Monica were going to be on his case because of Rebecca. Robin offered Nikolas words of encouragement. As Nikolas walked away he told Robin to give his love to Emma. Robin realized that she had left Emma at Kelly's. In a panic, Robin ran out of the hospital.

Robin raced into Kelly’s, relieved to find Emma sitting safely in her stroller. Lucky was concerned that something was amis, so he followed Robin into Kelly's to ask her what was wrong. Robin was crouched by Emma's stroller. Her baby was fast asleep. Robin quickly made up a lie about having left her cell phone in the car. Robin claimed that she had asked Mike to keep an eye on Emma while she fetched the phone. Lucky looked around but didn't see Mike. Robin deftly changed the subject by asking Lucky what had happened to his forehead. Rebecca used the opportunity to try to persuade Lucky to go to the hospital to have the injury stitched up. Robin agreed that his cut needed attention. Lucky capitulated when Rebecca offered to accompany Lucky to the hospital. Robin returned to Emma's side after Lucky and Rebecca left. Robin apologized for leaving Emma at Kelly's while her daughter slept peacefully.

Sonny called Robin to give him a second opinion about Michael's condition. Sonny asked Robin to keep the request between them, because Sonny didn't want Carly to get her hopes up again. However, Sonny felt that something was telling him not to give up. While Sonny spoke to Robin, one of the monitors that Michael was hooked up to showed a brief spike in brain activity.

Outside of Kelly's, Patrick walked up as Robin apologized to Emma for leaving her behind at the diner. Robin looked like a deer caught in the headlights when Patrick told her that he knew what had happened. Her panic turned to relief when Patrick expressed his regret for confiding to his brother that Robin might be suffering from post-partum depression. Robin eased Patrick's worry; she told Patrick that he had every right to talk to his brother about his concerns. Patrick changed the subject to ask Robin how her day with Emma went. Robin opted to lie to her husband. She told Patrick that she had spent several hours in the park showing Emma the pond and rocking her daughter in her lap while sitting on a swing. Patrick appeared greatly relieved to hear that Robin had spent an enjoyable day with their daughter. Robin's web of lies almost unraveled when Elizabeth happened along. She thanked Robin for her help earlier that day. Elizabeth didn't reveal enough for Patrick to question Robin's story.

Later, at Mercy Hospital, Matt approached Patrick. When Matt brought up Robin's PPD, Patrick cut Matt off. He told Matt that he no longer believed Robin suffered from the disorder. Patrick cited Robin's story about rocking Emma on a swing as proof that Robin was bonding with their daughter. Patrick told Matt that he intended to spend more time with his wife, starting that evening. He asked Matt to cover his rounds so that Patrick could take Robin out for a nice dinner at an upscale restaurant. Patrick believed if he devoted more time to Robin, many of their problems would melt away.

As Robin drove to meet Patrick she came to a fork in the road. One direction led to Port Charles while the other direction led to the highway. Robin took a moment to weigh her options, then decided to head to the highway.

At the Mercy nurses' station, Patrick told Elizabeth that he was leaving early to share a romantic dinner with Robin. He said that they were in a good place after he and Robin talked earlier in the afternoon. He was convinced that he had been too critical of Robin and that the tension in their relationship was his fault.  Elizabeth told him not to be so hard on himself, but Patrick was convinced that he had overreacted when he thought that Robin might be suffering from postpartum depression. He admitted that he should have been more patient and he should have let her observe when he did the procedure on Michael, instead of expecting her to stay home with Emma.

Robin took a detour on her way to meet Patrick and ended up outside a bar on the outskirts of Rochester. She called Mac and asked him to call Patrick and tell him that she was okay and that she would explain later. Once inside the pub, Robin ordered a shot of tequila and told the bartender, Ruth, that her name was Nancy and that she was a pharmaceutical rep from San Francisco with no husband or children.  As Patrick was about to leave to meet Robin, he got called to do emergency surgery. He asked Elizabeth to phone Robin and let her know. Elizabeth's call went to voicemail when Robin screened the call and ignored her ringing phone.

Ruth was enthralled as Robin wove a tale about her imaginary, carefree life in San Francisco. Robin was just getting into a detailed description of her non-existent apartment, when a baby started crying. Ruth told Robin that she was a single mother, and had been forced to bring her baby to work because her babysitter was ill.  As Ruth showed off her baby, she told Robin that she had held a great job at a local factory since high school, but it had closed suddenly and she had been forced to take what work she could get. When Robin asked about nearby childcare, Ruth said that it was hard to find a childcare center that was both affordable and open at night. Ruth's love for her daughter was obvious as she told Robin how much she envied mothers who could stay home with their children all the time. She said that she worried about every minute that she missed of her child's life and growth.

Robin made encouraging comments and seemed to agree with Ruth. After Ruth put the baby to sleep again, she asked if she had taken too long away from the bar. Robin said, "No." Ruth said that she was glad, but that she would always put her child first no matter what, even if it meant losing her job. Robin made ready to leave, but said that Ruth had helped her put things in perspective and see what really mattered most. She left a generous tip when she exited the bar.

Elizabeth waited for Patrick to finish surgery so that she could tell him that she had been unable to contact Robin, who had not reached the restaurant, returned home, or picked up the messages on her cell phone. In Rochester, Robin checked into a hotel room. She took off her shoes, sighed, then lay down on the bed and closed her eyes.

Patrick asked Elizabeth to babysit Emma while he went in search of Robin. He was worried because Robin had failed to come home the night before. Patrick was also frustrated because the police refused to act until a person had been missing a full 24 hours. Patrick was about to leave when his phone rang. It was Mac. Mac had called to let Patrick know that Robin had left a message with Mac. Mac assured Patrick that Robin was fine, but he was unable to provide more details. Patrick was hurt because Robin had called Mac rather than her own husband. Elizabeth felt bad for Patrick. She suggested that perhaps Robin wasn't ready to speak to Patrick. Elizabeth believed that Robin was feeling overwhelmed and Patrick represented all of the things that Robin couldn't deal with at that moment. Patrick admitted that his patience was wearing thin. It was difficult for him not to take Robin's rejection personally. Patrick walked out of the door without another word.

At Jake's, Coleman had NASCAR driver, Jeff Burton, autograph a picture for him. Patrick walked in seconds later; he was in a foul mood. As Patrick sipped his drink, he discussed the possibility of heading to a racetrack to drive. Jeff Burton spoke up when he heard Patrick mention a racetrack in Atlanta. It soon became clear to Jeff and Coleman that Patrick had no idea who Jeff was. Patrick dismissed comments that Jeff had made about racing.

Patrick arrogantly bragged about having once been a semi-professional driver. Jeff smiled indulgently when Patrick suggested that Jeff didn't know what he was talking about when it came to racing. Patrick got his first inkling that something was off when Coleman waved away Jeff's attempt to close his tab before leaving. After Jeff left, Patrick asked Coleman why he had let the man drink on the house. Patrick was mortified when Coleman explained that the man Patrick had just insulted was a professional race car driver.

Later, Patrick returned home. He apologized to Elizabeth for walking out on her. He also admitted that he had not gone looking for Robin; he'd been too busy making an "ass" out of himself at Jake's. Elizabeth told Patrick that she had compiled some reading material on postpartum depression that she hoped would help Patrick and Robin get the help that they needed. Elizabeth also told Patrick that she had arranged for a sitter to stay with Emma until Robin came home.

Robin returned to the bar that she had stumbled across after she left Port Charles. Things took an interesting turn when Robin met a man named Brad Seagrave. Robin introduced herself as Nancy Green, a pharmaceutical sales representative from San Francisco. Brad had been hired to do some carpentry work at the bar. As he went about his tasks, Robin and Brad flirted. Eventually, Brad invited Robin to go on a spontaneous road trip with him; his sister had given him tickets to an opera. Robin was flattered, but hesitated accepting the date. Brad realized that Robin wanted to be anywhere but where she was at that moment.

Patrick thanked Elizabeth for the information that she had gathered on postpartum depression. He confessed that he had recognized many of Robin's symptoms as he flipped through the pages. Elizabeth was a supportive friend as she advised Patrick to seek guidance from a therapist on how to approach Robin about PPD. Elizabeth reminded Patrick that Robin was in denial about her condition. She was certain that Robin had pulled away from her family because she thought it was best for Emma. It was an act of love, not betrayal.

As Elizabeth left, Mac arrived to talk to Patrick. Maxie was close behind her uncle. Mac was furious with Patrick; he believed that Patrick had driven Robin away. Patrick explained that Robin suffered from PPD. Mac refused to consider the possibility; he threatened to take Emma home with him. Patrick made it clear that Mac would not be allowed to leave with Emma.

Maxie stepped in to defuse the situation. She told Mac that there was something wrong with Robin. Maxie admitted that she had first noticed it the night of the hospital crisis. Mac listened quietly as Maxie recounted each incident where Robin had behaved out of character. Mac kept trying to make allowances for Robin's behavior until he ran out of excuses. Maxie pleaded with her uncle see the truth-Robin was in trouble. Maxie insisted that everyone needed to be on the same page if they were going to help Robin when she came home.

At the bar, Robin confessed to Brad that she had not been honest with him. Robin went on to explain that she had been hurt, in the past, by someone whom she had loved. Brad seemed disappointed that Robin wasn't ready to date, but he accepted Robin's decision. Ruth returned to the bar. She had her daughter with her. Ruth asked Robin to hold the baby while Ruth went to fetch the crib. Robin was reluctant to take the baby, but Ruth gave her little choice. Brad teased Robin when he noticed how uncomfortable she appeared while holding the little girl. Robin explained that she wasn't used to children and that babies didn't seem to like her. Ruth chuckled because her daughter, Anna, appeared content in Robin's arms. The moment Robin was able to hand Anna back to Ruth, she did so. Brad watched as Robin grabbed her things then practically ran out of the bar.

Robin returned to her motel room. She made plans to check out, but instead of leaving town, Robin returned to the bar. Robin explained that she had left earlier because of an important conference call. Brad believed Robin's lie. Robin then surprised Brad by asking him if his invitation for a date was still open.

Patrick, Mac, and Maxie were gathered at the Drake residence. Mac believed that Patrick was somehow responsible for Robin's postpartum depression. Maxie explained that Robin's condition was hormonal; Patrick didn't cause it. Mac insisted that Patrick's lack of support contributed to the situation deteriorating. Maxie defended Patrick. She told Mac that Robin's denial had made things worse. Maxie claimed that Robin had a gift for rationalizing everything. Maxie was certain that when Robin returned she would have a perfectly reasonable explanation for leaving town. However, that didn't change the fact that Robin desperately needed help.

Mac decided that he would go in search of Robin. Patrick believed that it was his responsibility, as Robin's husband, to find his wife. The two men argued about who would look for Robin until Maxi threw her hands up in the air then left. When Mac received a call, Patrick correctly guessed that Mac had information on Robin's whereabouts. Patrick pleaded with Mac to tell him where Robin was. Patrick thought, for Emma's sake, that it was important for him and Robin to work out their problems. Mac reluctantly told Patrick that Robin had been found in a motel in Rochester.

At the bar, Brad was delighted when Robin told him that she had changed her mind about going out with him. They sat down to sip on a beer while they checked the paper for a movie to go to. Robin wanted to see a French movie; Brad wanted to see something more lighthearted. They agreed on a movie then left the bar.  Later, Robin and Brad returned from the movie. They had seen the French movie, after all. The movie appeared to parallel Robin's life. The story centered on a woman who had left her family. Brad sensed that the movie somehow struck close to home for Robin, but Robin denied it. At one point, as the two talked about the movie, Robin leaned over to kiss Brad.

Elizabeth went to Patrick's to watch Emma while he went in search of Robin. Elizabeth fed Emma, and Patrick did research about postpartum depression on the Internet. He told Elizabeth that he was afraid to make the situation with Robin worse. Elizabeth said that what he was going through with Robin was a lot like what she went through when Lucky was addicted to drugs. She told Patrick that if he did not act honestly with Robin, he would be enabling her behavior instead of helping her get the care she needed. Elizabeth asked Patrick what he really wanted. He said that he wanted Robin to return home and for them to be a family again. Elizabeth smiled and sent him off to find Robin and get her back home.

Robin and Brad were in her hotel having drinks and flirting. One thing led to another and soon Robin and Brad were sharing a passionate kiss. Things heated up, but Robin called a halt before they went too far. Robin apologized for leading him on, and Brad was very understanding. Robin was tearful when she said that all her life, she had made careful choices and since that she had everything that she thought she wanted, she realized that all the choices she had made had been wrong. Brad proved a sympathetic ear and a shoulder to cry on. Robin was very appreciative of his company and support. As he opened the door to leave her room, they shared a long, lingering kiss, which Patrick observed as he approached Robin's room.

In Rochester, Patrick watched from the shadows as Robin and Brad spoke at the door of Robin's hotel room. When Brad and Robin kissed, Patrick couldn't watch any longer, and he left. Had he stayed, he would have heard Brad when he told Robin/Nancy goodnight. Brad said that it was obvious there was someone else back home whom Robin/Nancy had feelings for. They both wished each other well in their endeavors and parted ways. Robin closed the door and sat down on her bed, realizing she almost slept with another man.

Patrick drove back to Port Charles where Liz was watching Emma at the Scorpio-Drake home. Liz was surprised Robin didn't come back with Patrick, but he explained that Robin had been kissing another man. Robin didn't see Patrick, and Patrick didn't want Robin or anyone else to know what he had witnessed. Liz tried to console Patrick by reminding him that women who suffered postpartum depression sometimes cheated on their spouses. It was a disease and the patient wasn't aware of what was happening. Patrick asked how Liz felt when Lucky had cheated on her while he was using drugs, and Liz realized the hurt Patrick was going through. No matter what the cause, cheating still hurt. Patrick wondered if Robin had even told Brad that she was HIV positive.

After Liz left, Patrick walked with Emma and told her he was confused about her mother. Patrick had left the bachelor life for a wife and child after all the grief Robin had given him about his days of chasing women. It was Robin who had the change of heart and was cheating, though. Robin walked through the door as a crying Patrick talked to Emma. After Emma was put to sleep, Patrick told his wife he knew where she had been because Mac had put an APB out on her.

Robin was glad Patrick hadn't come looking for her, because she needed to come back on her own. Robin said she had met a woman at a bar and spent the evening talking to her and making up lies about her life. Robin told Patrick she thought he had been right and she was suffering from postpartum depression. She begged him for his help.

Robin announced that she had invited Lainey over to discuss Robin's postpartum depression. Patrick's lack of reaction prompted Robin to ask if that was no longer enough to satisfy Patrick. Patrick apologized for not being nice enough to Robin after she had abandoned him and Emma. Robin understood Patrick's anger. However, she believed that accepting that she had a problem and taking steps to address the PPD should count for something.

Patrick asked Robin if Lainey knew why Robin had invited her over. He wondered if Robin had told Lainey how out of control Robin had been since Emma's birth. Patrick also wanted to know if Robin had done anything that wasn't a result of PPD. Robin seemed confused by the question, but answered that everything she had done had been because of her depression. When Lainey arrived, she immediately sensed the tension between the Drakes. At Robin's urging, Patrick left without talking to Lainey about Robin's problems. As the two ladies sat down on the sofa, Robin explained that Patrick believed Robin suffered from PPD. Lainey quietly listened as Robin confessed that she needed help.

At Lainey's urging, Robin revealed that, from the beginning, she had not felt a special connection to her daughter. Robin felt overwhelmed, miserable, and incompetent as a mother when she looked at Emma. Lainey asked Robin if she felt like she had made a mistake. The question rattled Robin. Robin stood up, then raced out of the door before Lainey could stop her.

Patrick took a moment to apologize to Matt while they were between rounds at the hospital. Patrick confided to his brother that he was no longer in denial about Robin's PPD. Matt was supportive when Patrick revealed that Robin had decided to turn to Lainey for help. Later, Lainey talked to Patrick about her visit with Robin. Patrick was disappointed when he learned that Robin had abruptly left the house a few minutes into the visit.

Jason ran into Robin on the pier. Robin was upset after her meeting with Lainey; she ran into Jason's arms. Robin opened up to Jason about her recent troubles. She told Jason that she had left Emma, unattended, at Kelly's for several hours while Robin had dashed off to work. Robin also revealed that she had left town and pretended to be someone else in order to escape her life in Port Charles.

Jason tried to offer words of encouragement; he reminded Robin that Carly had recovered from PPD. Robin believed that it was time for her to accept that she was a terrible mother. She believed that Emma would be better off without Robin. Jason asked Robin if she truly wanted to give up her daughter. Robin welled up with tears as she confessed that she wanted to get better for her daughter's sake.

Patrick asked Elizabeth to keep an eye on Emma. He explained that Robin had walked out during her visit with Lainey. He was furious because Robin had not confessed to being with another man. Patrick wondered why he shouldn't walk away from everything as Robin had done.

Patrick debated walking out on Robin. Elizabeth advised that the most important thing is to treat Robin’s post partum depression. Elizabeth suggested Patrick not to let his jealousy over witnessing a kiss between Robin and another man guide his decisions. They both looked to the door when they heard it open. Robin had returned home. Patrick told Robin that he knew she had walked out during her visit with Lainey. Robin wanted to talk about it, but Patrick decided that he needed to leave. Robin was hurt when Patrick asked Elizabeth to stay with Emma.

After Patrick left, Robin opened up to Elizabeth. Robin admitted that she understood why Patrick was angry, that she had failed as a mother. Elizabeth didn't pull any punches; she pointed out that Robin had an illness, which she chose not to treat and that decision had hurt everyone, especially Robin.

DVD #9B  Robin revealed that she envied her friend; Elizabeth was able to juggle a career and motherhood as a single woman. Robin wondered how Elizabeth managed it. Elizabeth was quick to point out that she was far from perfect. Elizabeth reminded Robin that Cameron and Jake had different fathers; they had also been exposed to dangerous situations. Elizabeth likened Robin's postpartum depression to cancer. She urged Robin to seek treatment.

A short time later, Patrick approached Carly. He was eager for Carly's insight into PPD. Carly was happy to answer Patrick's questions when she learned that Robin struggled with the illness. Carly revealed that she first realized something was wrong shortly after Michael's birth. Carly explained that she had believed Michael's arrival would make everything perfect for her, but it hadn't. Carly found herself unable to touch her child following his birth. It led her to feel inadequate as a mother. Carly credited Jason for helping her to recover. She told Patrick that Jason had taken care of Michael without criticizing Carly. More importantly, Jason had never judged Carly. Carly suggested that Patrick offer Robin the same unconditional support.

Later, Patrick returned home. Elizabeth gathered her things then left. Robin confessed that she was glad Elizabeth had stayed. Robin admitted that she had PPD; she was determined to seek treatment for it. Patrick told Robin that, their problems aside, he loved her and would support Robin every step of the way. Mercedes arrived to help take care of Emma. Robin was outraged when she realized that Patrick had talked to Carly about Robin's problems. Patrick and Robin got into a huge fight over Robin's postpartum depression. Patrick revealed he had asked Carly for advice, but this information only fueled Robin's temper. She stormed out of the house, and Patrick told her to say hi to her friends in Rochester for him.

Jason walked down to the docks and saw Robin just as she dropped everything she had been carrying. He asked if she was okay, but Robin admitted she was not okay. She was suffering from postpartum depression. Jason tried to counsel his friend, and he knew from first-hand experience that it was painful to love someone who was suffering from the disease. Jason assured Robin that Patrick loved her and was just trying to help.

Sonny arrived to see Patrick and find out if Michael had experienced any improvements. Patrick said he would try to visit Michael during the evening, but he wasn't expecting any change. Sonny noticed Patrick was stressed, so Patrick gave Sonny the synopsis on his problems with Robin. Sonny understood why Patrick would think Carly could help, but Carly and Robin hated each other. Sonny was sure Robin and Patrick would figure out a way to get Robin the help she needed and save their marriage.

Patrick decided to go find his wife and apologize. He found her on the docks where she told him she had confided in Jason. Patrick wasn't upset, though, and thought communication was key to saving their marriage.

Patrick finished examining Michael and told Carly and Jax that he hadn't found any signs that Michael was coming out of the coma. Carly refused to believe that and thought Patrick might have missed something, since he was preoccupied with Robin and Emma. Patrick agreed to have Michael's file ready for another doctor to give a second opinion.

At Mercy Hospital, Robin mentioned that she was tired. Robin bristled when Elizabeth asked if Robin's fatigue was because Emma did not sleep through the night. Robin wondered why everything had to be about Emma. Elizabeth apologized for the misunderstanding. Robin's mood didn't improve when Patrick offered to take Robin to her first appointment for her postpartum depression. Elizabeth quietly stepped away while Robin confronted Patrick. Robin accused Patrick of not trusting her to go to the appointment. Patrick denied the accusation; he was trying to be supportive. Robin asked why she always said the wrong thing to Patrick. Patrick apologized for making Robin feel that way. He offered to buy her lunch before her appointment to make amends.

Later, Patrick asked Elizabeth if she had seen Robin. He was frustrated when Elizabeth told him that she no idea where Robin had gone. Patrick feared that Robin intended to skip her first appointment with Dr. Brown. Elizabeth tried to offer Patrick words of encouragement. She confided that Lucky had cheated on her when he had been in the grips of drug addiction. Elizabeth eventually realized that Lucky's infidelity was a symptom of the addiction just like Robin's erratic behavior was a symptom of the PPD.

Patrick admitted that he wasn't certain he wanted to continue to fight for his marriage. Elizabeth reminded Patrick that PPD was treatable. Patrick believed that, to some degree, Robin had to take responsibility for some of her choices. Elizabeth urged Patrick to seek counseling. Elizabeth claimed it had helped her deal with Lucky's struggles.

Sonny bumped into Robin at the docks. Robin confessed that she was procrastinating to avoid her first appointment for treatment of PPD. Sonny didn't think Robin had any reason to feel ashamed because she needed help. Robin opened up about her difficulties adjusting to motherhood. She was uncomfortable with the idea of discussing those things with a doctor.

Sonny talked about his battle with bipolar disorder. Sonny said that his first therapy session had been the most difficult for him. He followed through with it, and the rest of the treatment, for the sake of his children. He continued to take his medications, and attend occasional therapy sessions, for the same reason. However, Sonny did admit that he missed having the highs of manic-depression. They had made him feel invincible. The lows were what had made his illness impossible to cope with.

Robin told Sonny that she had never experienced any highs. Every day was a low to her because she felt like a failure. Robin admitted that she resented Patrick turning to Carly for advice. Robin's anger toward Patrick grew when she realized that Sonny was already aware of the incident. Sonny advised Robin to fight for her mental well-being by focusing on her recovery.

Robin arrived at her appointment a short time later. Dr. Lauren Brown introduced herself before she invited Robin into her office. Robin became defensive when Dr. Brown asked about Emma. Robin was frustrated because felt as if everyone expected her life to revolve around Emma. As the session continued, Robin talked about her HIV-positive diagnosis and how badly she had wanted to have a baby. However, it had become painfully clear to Robin that she no longer wanted to be a mother.

Robin apologized for giving Dr. Brown the wrong impression about how Robin viewed motherhood. Robin explained that she had always longed to be a mother, but the reality of being a parent was a lot more difficult than she had anticipated. Robin reiterated that she felt like a failure. Dr. Brown observed that, in Robin's world, Robin was either perfect or a failure; Robin didn't appear to have any middle ground. Dr. Brown didn't give Robin a chance to respond; she asked Robin why Robin hadn't sought therapy sooner. Robin explained that she believed she just needed time to adjust. Again, Robin expressed her fear that she wasn't cut out to be a mother. Dr. Brown pointed out that it was the second time Robin made such a confession. Robin insisted that she had not meant it the way it had sounded. Robin began talking about her journey to motherhood.

Dr. Brown noticed that Robin spoke quite a bit about how things should have been to avoid expressing her feelings. Dr. Brown wanted to know how Robin felt about her life in that moment. Robin admitted that she was frustrated and angry. Dr. Brown asked how Robin's love life was. Robin revealed that her sex drive was nonexistent. Robin also confessed that she had certain thoughts at times, but Robin refused to elaborate. Dr. Brown then broached the subject of treatment. Robin expressed a desire to treat herself through exercise, diet, and occasional therapy. Dr. Brown agreed that exercise and diet were a good start, but they were not enough. Dr. Brown diagnosed Robin as clinically depressed. She prescribed an antidepressant to Robin and urged Robin to attend daily therapy sessions. Robin reluctantly took the prescription and promised to return the following day. Patrick was worried when he had not heard from Robin. He was talking to Elizabeth about his concerns when an accident victim was brought into Mercy Hospital. Patrick and Elizabeth rushed to treat the patient. The young woman had been involved in a car accident.

Patrick questioned the paramedics about the patient's medical history. The paramedics revealed that the young woman had given birth three months prior to the accident. Patrick was also informed that the patient had not been wearing her seatbelt at the time of the crash. A blood panel on the patient revealed that she didn't have any alcohol or drugs in her system. Nothing explained why the woman had swerved onto an overpass then crashed. Patrick ordered more tests on the unconscious woman.

Jason went to Mercy Hospital at Patrick's request. Patrick was worried about Robin's continued absence; he had hoped that Jason knew where Robin was. Jason told Patrick that he had not heard from Robin. Patrick admitted that he knew Robin had turned to Jason about her recent troubles. Patrick asked Jason to tell him what Robin had told Jason. Jason refused to betray Robin's confidence. Jason became distracted when he saw Elizabeth approach Patrick. Elizabeth told Patrick that the husband of the young mother involved in the accident, had revealed that his wife suffered from acute postpartum depression.

Robin went to see Sonny at Greystone Manor after her appointment with Dr. Brown. Robin was angry because the doctor had prescribed antidepressants to Robin. Robin wanted to try the holistic route for treatment. Sonny admitted that he had felt the same way when he had first undergone treatment for bipolar disorder. However, he quickly realized that the medication prescribed to him had been essential to his recovery. Sonny urged Robin to give the antidepressants a chance to work. Robin remained resistant to the idea of taking antidepressants. She asked Sonny what the point of being a mother was if she needed to be medicated in order to be one.

Down the hall, Patrick was yelling at Jason to tell him where Robin was. Jason wouldn't be intimidated, and said Robin had talked to him in confidence. Liz interrupted and tried convincing Patrick to allow Robin some space. Besides, there was a patient waiting for him who needed surgery after she had crashed her car in a suicide attempt. Patrick worried Robin was in a suicidal state, but Liz and Jason assured him that Robin would never take her own life. Liz and Patrick discussed their patient, Tricia, and her suicide attempt. She was suffering from postpartum depression, also. Tricia began to wake up, and Patrick told her she needed immediate surgery. She didn't want the surgery, though, because she wanted to succeed at her earlier goal of killing herself.

Robin sat in Sonny's living room and talked to him about her postpartum depression. Sonny could relate to Robin's ordeal because of his battle with being bipolar. He told her that being a parent meant doing whatever was necessary for your child, even if it meant taking medication to deal with an illness.

Robin left Sonny's house and went down to the docks. She pulled out her prescription and ripped it up, allowing the scraps of paper to fall to the ground. Robin walked too close to the edge of the docks. She looked up and saw a little girl who told her to be careful not to fall in the frigid water. The young child introduced herself as Emma. Robin and Emma talked, and Robin learned that Emma's father was a surgeon. When Emma said her mother hadn't wanted her, it was clear that Robin was talking to a future version of her little Emma.

After performing the life-saving surgery on Tricia, Patrick realized something was wrong when no one had talked to Robin yet. He rushed down to the docks, calling out to Robin as he ran. He briefly stopped to look around, but left when he found no signs of his wife.

Patrick found Robin floating next to the pier and rescued her. He was able to get the water out of her lungs and she started breathing before he called for an ambulance. Robin recovered enough to be worried about Emma, so Patrick phoned home and was relieved to find that their daughter was there. Robin said that she wanted to know about the other Emma, the one that she had seen on the docks. Patrick was at Robin's bedside when she woke up. He asked her why she had not responded to his calls, but all that she would say was that she needed time to de-stress. When Patrick continued to question her, Robin finally told him that she had gone to see Sonny, then gone back to the pier to think and accidentally slipped and fallen into the water. Robin insisted that the fall had been an accident, not a suicide attempt. Patrick was not so sure because he had found part of Robin's torn up prescription for anti-depressants on the docks.

Matt and Maxie argued about Robin. She was upset when he suggested that Robin had deliberately jumped in the water. Maxie did not want to entertain the notion that Robin would deliberately try to hurt herself, but Matt played devil's advocate and caused Maxie to think about the consequences if her faith in Robin was unjustified. Maxie went to see Robin, and Patrick left to make phone calls. Maxie tried to believe Robin's story of an accidental slip, but she had a hard time keeping the faith after her talk with Matt. When she left Robin's room, Maxie was not as firmly in Robin's corner as she had been before. Maxie was waiting at the penthouse when Jason got home. She told him that Robin needed someone cold and emotionless to listen to her so that she could have a sounding board. She encouraged Jason to be that person for Robin.

Epiphany was tending Robin when Patrick got back. She told Robin how lucky she was to have Patrick, then left them alone. Patrick told Robin that he had called her doctor. Robin resisted treatment, but Patrick was adamant that Robin stop trying to be her own doctor, take the role of patient instead, and follow her psychiatrist's regimen. Patrick told Robin that he loved her and wanted to know that she was safe. He begged her to take the medication that had been prescribed for her. Reluctantly she did.

Maxie went back to Jason's apartment and tried to convince him to visit Robin in the hospital before she was released. Maxie feared Robin wouldn't take her medication or go to therapy once she was out of the hospital. Jason said he couldn't talk to Robin and convince her that therapy and medication was the best thing for her. After his accident, he underwent therapy and hated it. Maxie told him to quit making excuses to do nothing, and her comments seemed to have an effect on Jason.

At the hospital, Robin was packing to go home when Patrick stopped in to see her. Robin acted as if nothing had happened and started talking about getting a diaper service. Robin dropped her charade when her therapist walked in, and Patrick reminded her she had an appointment. After seeing how upset Robin was, the therapist left Robin and Patrick alone briefly to talk. Patrick told his wife he just wanted her to get better for her sake, his sake, and their daughter's sake. Robin started to become defensive, but Patrick wouldn't allow her to try and change the subject by fighting with him.

Reluctantly, Robin met with the therapist after Patrick had left. Robin told the woman how she had fallen off the docks and Patrick had saved her. She insisted she was fine and even had taken her medication that morning. The therapist was happy with Robin's progress, but she pointed out that postpartum depression wouldn't go away on its own. Robin disagreed and said she had done her own research. The therapist admitted there were all kinds of statistics, but she asked Robin if she really wanted to wait around to find out what category she would fall into. Robin agreed that wasn't the best idea and seemed as if she might continue therapy and medication.

While Robin was with the therapist, Patrick made his rounds at the hospital. Liz noticed he didn't have a lot of sympathy or patience and asked if things still weren't going well with Robin. Patrick admitted he was trying to avoid the situation with his wife. The two friends talked, and Liz tried to help Patrick understand what was going on with Robin. She tried to convince him that Robin would need his help to get through the depression. Patrick told her that he still wondered about the man from Rochester and whether or not Robin was still communicating with him. Patrick just knew Robin had to be confiding in someone, but it sure wasn't her husband.

Jason was on the docks when Robin ran into him after having been released from the hospital. He told her he was still trying to decide whether or not to come visit her. Robin confided in him the truth about the previous night. She had actually seen a little girl named Emma who claimed her mother hadn't wanted her. Robin thought she had hallucinated, and Jason agreed that perhaps her mind had created the child to convince her to seek treatment. Robin asked him if he would take medication for depression, but Jason couldn't answer that question. He didn't have a child relying on him and his life wasn't falling apart. Robin knew that Jason just wanted her to do whatever was necessary to get better for herself and her daughter. They were hugging when Patrick stumbled upon them.

Elizabeth stepped in when Patrick took his foul mood out on the staff at Mercy Hospital. Patrick admitted that he had seen Robin and Jason together on the pier. Patrick suggested that perhaps Robin and Jason were sleeping together. Elizabeth looked up when she saw Robin walk in. Robin had not heard the exchange, but she sensed that Elizabeth and Patrick had been talking about her. Robin became defensive and took it out on Elizabeth. Elizabeth reminded Robin that, despite her illness, Robin was responsible for what she said. Before Elizabeth walked away, she advised Robin to seek treatment for her postpartum depression.

Patrick scolded Robin for sniping at Elizabeth. Patrick reminded Robin that Elizabeth had juggled her own busy schedule to take care of Emma when Robin couldn't. Robin admitted that she had taken her anger out on the wrong person. Patrick was whom Robin was truly angry at. Robin claimed that she was doing everything that she was supposed to, but it didn't seem to be enough to please Patrick. Patrick was frustrated. because Robin continued to resist treatment. They argued, without resolution, until Patrick stormed off.

Patrick caught up to Elizabeth as she was leaving the hospital. He apologized for what he had said about Robin and Jason. Patrick realized that it had been insensitive, given Elizabeth's feelings for Jason. Elizabeth assured Patrick that she had not been offended. She did confess that it was an image that was difficult for her to forget. Patrick felt bad because Robin had taken her anger out on Elizabeth. Elizabeth reminded Patrick that Robin had been right; they had been talking about Robin. Patrick confided that he was tired of always arguing with Robin. He admitted that he couldn't remember the last time that he had laughed. Elizabeth lit up; she believed that she knew what could help Patrick smile again.

Kelly ran into Robin in the park. She invited Robin to join her for a yoga class. Robin asked if Patrick had put Kelly up to the invitation. Kelly joked around, but then admitted that she hadn't seen Patrick all day. Robin visibly relaxed then began talking about her recent argument with Patrick. Kelly was sympathetic, but advised her friend to accept the medication and treatment being offered. She told Robin that she should be grateful that they were available to her.

Later, Robin decided to go to her house. She asked Mercedes to pack Emma's things so that Robin could take her daughter to the park. Mercedes informed Robin that Patrick had picked Emma up earlier and gone to the park. Robin was delighted by the news; she left to join Patrick and Emma. Patrick sat in the park with Emma. He promised his daughter that he would do what was best for her. A few minutes later, Elizabeth, Jake, and Cameron joined them. Robin walked up while Patrick and Elizabeth played with the children. She left before anyone noticed her.

At General Hospital, Monica and Patrick watched as Epiphany yelled at two interns for showing up at Mercy Hospital instead of reading her memo about being at General Hospital for the re-opening ceremony. Epiphany threatened the two interns with the giant scissors that were waiting to cut the ribbons at the ceremony. Monica liked the changes that had been made to General Hospital, but she noted that some things-like Epiphany-never changed.

Epiphany was thrilled that Robin was back at work, especially after she fixed their printer issues from earlier in the morning. Robin said that everyone except her husband seemed happy to have her back at work. She had caught Patrick talking to Liz about the new daycare center at the hospital, and assumed Patrick wanted her to be a stay-at-home mom with Emma. Robin tried to confide in Dr. Lee, but her dear friend knew that Robin wasn't as innocent as she claimed to be. As they talked, they witnessed Patrick as he gave a toy car to Liz for Cameron. Dr. Lee realized Robin was jealous of Patrick's behavior towards Liz.

Matt found his brother sitting in the waiting area of the hospital looking over some charts, and asked if they should flip a coin to see who would perform the first surgery in the new operating room. Patrick said he wasn't interested and Matt could perform the surgery. Matt asked if Patrick no longer desired a challenge, but Patrick said he had enough challenges at home, and walked away.

Nikolas started the opening ceremony for General Hospital's reopening by making a speech and thanking members of the community. Monica spoke next, and Epiphany handed her the giant scissors to cut the ribbons. Suddenly, the lights went out. Helena's face appeared on the television monitors, and she said her grandson had done so much good for the hospital-however, no good deed of Nikolas' would go unpunished until he met her demands.

Patrick tried to talk to Robin at the nurse's station, but Robin was defensive. The talk quickly turned into an argument, so Robin walked away. Robin approached Kelly to ask her if she could prescribe Robin something other than the antidepressants that Dr. Brown had given Robin. Kelly wasn't comfortable with the idea of Robin switching medications. Robin countered that she didn't like taking the antidepressants. Kelly gently urged Robin to discuss it with Dr. Brown.

A few minutes later, Matt asked Robin to consult on a case. Robin snapped at Matt. She accused him of trying to keep an eye on his "crazy" sister-in-law. Patrick turned to Elizabeth after his argument with Robin. He speculated that Robin might feel guilty for cheating on him. Elizabeth reminded Patrick that it was Robin's postpartum depression talking. Patrick wondered if that was true. He suspected that their marriage might be falling apart for reasons other than PPD.

Robin took offense when she heard Patrick confide to Elizabeth. She reminded Patrick that their marriage problems were private. Patrick resented Robin's attitude; he insisted that he needed someone to talk to. Robin didn't appreciate Patrick telling everyone that she had PPD. The argument escalated until everyone within shouting distance heard every angry word between the Drakes. During the heated exchange, Patrick accused Robin of driving to Rochester and sleeping with a stranger.

An infuriated Robin followed Patrick down the hospital corridor. She demanded to know why he had aired their "dirty laundry" in public. Patrick confessed that he had gone to Rochester and seen Robin with another man. Robin's fury mounted; she slapped Patrick. Robin couldn't believe that Patrick had spied on her and then lied about it.

Patrick responded that he had been shell-shocked after seeing his wife with another man. Robin explained that she had met Brad and enjoyed an evening with him, but insisted that they had not had sex. Patrick asked Robin why he should believe her. Patrick admitted that he didn't think their marital troubles were a result of Robin's postpartum depression. Robin's temper flared. She accused Patrick of trying to blame her for all of their problems. Robin walked away in disgust. However, Patrick was close on her heels.

Carly bumped into Robin at GH. Robin assumed that Carly had overheard Robin and Patrick; she asked if Carly had enjoyed the argument. Carly denied that she had heard anything, but Robin didn't believe her. Robin ranted at Carly, calling her a "bitch." Carly ignored Robin's nasty comments. She told Robin that she understood what Robin was going through. Carly advised Robin to get treatment for Emma's sake. Carly walked away without a backward glance.

Patrick turned to leave, but Robin stopped him. The anger seemed to drain out of Robin as she told Patrick that she loved him. Robin realized that she was destroying everything in her life, but she had no idea how to stop herself from doing it. She swore on Emma's life that she had not slept with Brad. Patrick apologized for his mistakes. The two embraced and held each other tight.

At the hospital, Liz noticed how worn-out Patrick was and he explained he was up a lot with Emma the previous night. Patrick didn't say much, because he didn't want to betray Robin. Liz told him they were all friends, and Patrick couldn't bottle his emotions inside of himself. Matt walked over to Patrick and Liz, and he kept trying to interject into their conversation. Liz finally had enough and handed papers to Matt to get him to leave. Later, Liz found Matt and Patrick arguing over a patient. She broke up the fight and told Patrick to take a walk.

Robin met with her therapist and admitted she hated having to go through treatment. That had been very apparent to the therapist, though. Robin didn't want to take medication, but the therapist insisted it was working. Robin tried to say that it affected how she treated Emma. The therapist asked some questions and got Robin to admit she was still able to make life-and-death decisions at the hospital. The therapist didn't think it was necessary to change anything, and she warned Robin that abruptly stopping the medication would cause Robin to crash.

Robin arrived at the hospital and tried to apologize to Liz. Liz hadn't taken anything personally, and offered to get together with Robin and Emma for a play date. Robin was clearly not interested though. Robin asked Liz and Matt if they had seen Patrick, and they said they did not know where he had gone or how long he would be gone. No one mentioned the fight, but it seemed like Robin knew they were hiding something. Later, Robin secretly threw her medication away in a hospital trashcan.

Patrick had gone to Jake's to vent to Coleman. After Patrick asked for coffee instead of alcohol, they talked about how exhausted Patrick always was. Coleman wasn't very sympathetic towards Robin, and he said that Patrick deserved someone better than a cheater. Patrick defended his wife and said she hadn't cheated. She was suffering from postpartum depression, and she was doing things out of the ordinary. Robin had said she would go to treatment and take her medication, but Patrick wondered aloud how long that would last.

At the nurses' station, everything seemed to be going smoothly between Robin and Patrick. He offered to support her in every way, including going to therapy with her. She declined but thanked him for offering. Down the hall, a janitor emptied a waste bin and Robin's prescription bottle lay on top of the emptied trash.

Matt and Elizabeth had a chat and both wondered if Robin and Patrick could handle working on a patient in the operating room together. They did not have to wait long to find out. Epiphany announced an urgent case, and Robin announced that she was assembling a surgical team. As Patrick and Matt scrubbed, Matt pointed out the danger to a patient that any kind of outburst between Patrick and Robin could cause. Patrick told Matt that he was far too professional to let anything personal interfere with surgery. Matt was skeptical, but as the surgery began, both Patrick and Robin seemed to be concentrating on medicine and not each other.

Robin and Patrick worked very well together during surgery. Once it was over, Patrick thanked Robin for her good work and for recommending the surgery. They decided to stop and get Chinese food to take home. They seemed to laugh and tease like the old times. Once they arrived home, Patrick took Emma from the nanny, Mercedes, while Robin began to unpack the food. Mercedes offered to stay for the night, but Robin insisted they didn't need her. Once Mercedes had left, Robin told Patrick to put Emma down so he could eat. Patrick handed their little girl to Robin, but he noticed the way she held Emma as she took her to the playpen. Robin did not cradle her daughter but held Emma away from her body.

Robin woke up just as Patrick rolled Emma in from their morning walk. Patrick wanted Robin to go with them on their next walk and Robin agreed. When Patrick left to change Emma's diaper, Robin collapsed on the couch, appearing lethargic and depressed. Patrick prepared to leave for work, but he wanted to talk to Robin about a patient. He asked what time her appointment with her therapist, Dr. Brown, was. Robin seemed irritated and snapped at Patrick, but he assured her he wasn't the therapy police. He was very proud of her. Robin seemed to back off a little and promised to find the article before she left for her therapy session.

Robin arrived at Dr. Brown's office, but left before she could knock on the door. Alexis found her sitting by the docks, and Alexis told Robin it was a beautiful spring day. Alexis wanted to enjoy the weather, so she had decided to procrastinate a bit. Alexis and Robin talked about motherhood, and Alexis said that all mothers experienced doubts about parenting. Everyone had bad days, but that didn't mean they didn't love their children. Alexis finished her speech and decided she could go on with her day. She gave her bag of brownies to Robin and left.

At the hospital, Dr. Brown asked Patrick for some assistance with one of her patients who was suffering from headaches. Patrick agreed to help, and Dr. Brown changed subjects by asking Patrick to give her apologies to Robin. Dr. Brown had phone issues that morning, so she hadn't gotten any messages from Robin when she missed her appointment. Patrick seemed shocked to realize his wife wasn't going to therapy.

Robin arrived home to see the unorganized mess that had frustrated her that morning. She decided to start cleaning, and everything appeared neat and in order when Patrick walked through the door. As she explained where everything belonged, Patrick asked where she had gotten her drive to clean. Robin told him that her session with Dr. Brown earlier had really uplifted her.

Patrick called Robin out on her lies; he revealed that Dr. Brown had told him that Robin had missed her scheduled appointment. Robin's temper flared. She accused Patrick of following her around. Robin sarcastically asked when Patrick had become her parole officer. Robin found Patrick's behavior "creepy." Patrick explained that Dr. Brown had sought him out; he had not followed Robin. Patrick accused Robin of not seeking treatment for her postpartum depression. Robin admitted that she hated therapy; she felt judged. Patrick asked if it would help Robin if he accompanied her to therapy. Robin misunderstood Patrick. She told him that she didn't need him driving her to therapy to make certain that she went to her sessions.

Patrick explained that he had been referring to couple therapy. Robin agreed to Patrick's offer on the condition that they would discuss Patrick's behavior as well as Robin's. Later that day, Patrick and Robin arrived at Dr. Brown's office for their first couple therapy session. Patrick confessed to Robin that he would rather have been anywhere but there. He finally understood Robin's reluctance to go to therapy. However, Patrick was determined to do what was necessary to save their marriage.

Dr. Brown greeted Patrick and Robin. The doctor considered it a good sign that Robin was willing to reschedule her appointment. Robin confessed that she didn't want therapy. Dr. Brown asked Patrick how it made him feel to know that Robin didn't want treatment. Patrick expressed frustration; he couldn't understand why Robin resisted help when it could be beneficial.

Patrick talked about his bachelor days. Patrick never considered himself husband or father material until he had met Robin. He felt hurt that Robin did not share his deep commitment to their family. Robin broke down crying. She assured Patrick that he was mistaken. However, Robin felt like an alien had taken over her mind and body. Patrick wondered if that was true; Patrick worried that their marital troubles went beyond PPD.

After the session, Patrick and Robin went to work. Robin started to ask Patrick a question, but changed her mind. Patrick urged Robin to ask her question. Robin revealed that it had helped her to have Patrick attend therapy with her. Robin wanted Patrick to go to the next appointment. Patrick readily agreed.

At General Hospital, Elizabeth apologized to everyone when an empty wheelchair got away from her and crashed down a flight of stairs. After everything was set to rights, Elizabeth gave Robin and Patrick a gift. It was in appreciation for the toy car that Patrick had given Cameron. Robin was delighted when she discovered a guardian angel bear inside the gift bag. After Elizabeth walked way, Patrick reminded Robin that Emma was scheduled for a checkup with the pediatrician. He asked Robin if she wanted to meet them for the appointment. Robin agreed. Robin volunteered to pick Emma up when Patrick was called away for an emergency.

At home, Robin strapped Emma into her stroller. Robin tucked the guardian angel bear next to Emma. As they prepared to leave, Robin talked to her daughter. She told Emma that she had been feeling better since she had stopped taking the antidepressants. At GH, Patrick worked on Jason. Monica was on hand to assist. When Matt joined the team, Patrick confided to his brother that Jason might be in a coma.

After Emma's checkup, Robin bumped into Kelly. Kelly was pleased to see Robin and Emma together. Robin admitted that she felt better. Robin felt vindicated that she had been right about her treatment. Kelly asked Robin to clarify what she meant by that. Robin admitted that she had stopped taking her medication. Kelly was stunned; she said that is was completely irresponsible for Robin to discontinue her antidepressants. Robin became defensive.

When Kelly reached out her hand to Robin, Robin jerked back, bumped the stroller which had been perched at the top of the stairs. Robin screamed as Emma's stroller, with Emma inside, went flying down the stairs. Fortunately, Patrick was there to catch both Emma and the stroller before either was damaged. Patrick cuddled Emma, and Robin apologized for forgetting to set the brake. Patrick worried that Robin was not paying enough attention to Emma's welfare.

Patrick was concerned about Robin's forgetfulness and Emma's close call. Robin said it would never happen again. Kelly joined them, but before she could tell Patrick that Robin was off her meds, she was paged to Carly's bedside. Robin and Patrick were still discussing Emma's near-fatal fall when Mac joined them. He offered to drive Robin and Emma home after he heard about the accident. Robin said she was supposed to meet Maxie, but Mac said that his rights as an uncle trumped Maxie's. Patrick paged Kelly so that they could compare notes about Robin. Kelly told Patrick that Robin was off her meds and in denial about the seriousness of her condition. Then Patrick asked if Kelly thought that Robin had pushed Emma on purpose. She said. "No," that it had been an accident. Kelly said that Robin had become angry, pulled away from her Kelly, and bumped the stroller unintentionally.

Both Kelly and Patrick were concerned about Robin's lying and her volatility when confronted with her lies. Patrick had an idea about how to help Robin, and started making phone calls. Mac took Robin home and was very supportive. He told her that an accident could happen to anyone. When Robin told him that she wondered if she would ever get her life back, Mac complimented her on how well she was dealing with her post partum depression. Robin looked uncomfortable when Mac said he was proud of her for going to therapy and taking her medication.

Patrick sat in his living room with Mac, Maxie, Kelly, Elizabeth, Matt, and Dr. Brown. When Robin entered the room and wanted to know what was going on, Mac said that they were worried about her and were there to help. Patrick added that it was more than worry. He said that they need to get everything out in the open before any more harm was done. When Robin realized that it was an intervention, she got angry and grabbed her keys to leave, but Patrick would not let her go. He told her she was sick and she was not going anywhere until she agreed to get some help.

Robin wasn't receptive at first, but Dr. Brown said there would be consequences if Robin didn't take responsibility for her actions. Maxie was the first one to talk to Robin. She said she had looked forward to bonding with Robin while they dolled Emma up as she grew. Robin hadn't become the mother Maxie thought she would be. Maxie still couldn't understand Robin's actions the night of the General Hospital fire.

Robin started to explain and became angrier and angrier. Robin started to make accusations towards Maxie by reminding her cousin of when she had manipulated Lucky by faking a pregnancy. Finally, Robin kicked Maxie out of the house and the girl left in tears. After Maxie was gone, Mac defended the girl and told Robin that Robin had been too rough on her. Maxie was just trying to help. Kelly spoke next and said she missed her friend, and Liz apologized for having become an enabler when she was only trying to help.

Matt was the last one to talk to Robin before Patrick. Matt admitted he didn't know Robin as well as some of the other people that had talked to her that evening. Robin had been the first person to reach out to him and include him in their family, though. He could see how much Robin, Patrick, and Emma loved each other, and he begged her to get treatment. After everyone had left, Patrick told his wife that he loved her and wanted her to get better. He feared that she didn't want a life with him and Emma anymore, though. Robin disagreed and said she wanted to be with them. She would take her medication and go to therapy as directed.

Dr. Brown said that her previous treatment was no longer an option. Robin would need to be admitted for in-patient therapy. Robin was very upset, but she tearfully said her goodbye to Emma. She apologized to Patrick for everything she had done. Patrick promised that he and Emma would be waiting for Robin when she was done with treatment.

On the phone, Patrick rearranged his work schedule with Epiphany. Epiphany seemed annoyed by Patrick's request. She asked him if he had a nanny to watch his daughter. Patrick explained that the nanny had the day off. After Patrick ended the call, someone knocked on the door. It was Matt, suitcase in hand. Matt explained that he intended to move in with his brother to help care for Emma while Robin was away. Patrick seemed reluctant to accept the offer, but Matt was adamant. Patrick warned Matt that he might be in over his head, caring for a baby, but then relented.

Elizabeth stopped by, during her break, to check on Emma. Patrick and Elizabeth helped Matt pack Emma up for an outing in the park. Before Matt left, Patrick revealed that babies were "chick magnets." Patrick advised Matt to make it clear that he was Emma's uncle, not her father. After Matt left, Patrick admitted that he felt guilty because Robin hadn't received treatment sooner. Elizabeth reminded Patrick that he had done the best he could, under the circumstances. She admitted that Patrick had made a few mistakes, but overall he had done everything he could to get Robin the treatment that she needed. Elizabeth was certain that Robin would come to realize that. When Matt returned from his outing with Emma, he admitted that he'd had an amazing time. Matt looked forward to their next outing. While Matt went to get ready for a shift at the hospital, Patrick talked to Emma about how much they missed Robin.

Jax turned to Patrick for help. Jax explained Carly's situation with her pregnancy. Jax wanted Patrick to agree to be part of Michael's surgical team because he believed it would calm Carly's fears, which in turn would reduce her stress. Patrick reminded Jax that he was not a miracle worker. However, Patrick did agree to work with Dr. Hensen. When Jax informed Dr. Hensen of the decision, she realized that she had little choice, but to welcome Patrick to the team. Later, Patrick and Dr. Hensen discussed Michael's case. Patrick was concerned that time was running out. Dr. Hensen wanted to delay surgery, but Patrick believed that time was of the essence.

Patrick had his brother paged at the hospital so they could discuss Michael Corinthos. When Matt reviewed the chart and the upcoming procedure, he thought Patrick was crazy for participating. There was a six percent chance the procedure would work, but there was a 20% chance Michael could die. The influential people in Michael's life could kill Patrick or ruin his life if things didn't turn out well.

Patrick tried to explain to his brother that he had taken the bullet out of Michael's brain, so he wanted to be there when Michael woke up. Matt pointed out that Patrick wasn't even going to be the lead surgeon, but Patrick was content to just be on the team. Matt felt Patrick was trying to punish himself for Robin's postpartum depression. Just because Patrick missed his wife and thought his personal life was in ruins, that didn't mean he had to ruin his professional life, too.

Patrick dropped in on a tipsy Elizabeth to ask her to watch Emma the next day. She told him about her adventure at Jake's and the kiss that she shared with Nikolas. She told Patrick that she had been married four times, had two kids and still did not know the meaning of love. She asked him what love meant to him. Before Patrick could say much, there was a knock on Elizabeth's door. When she answered it, Lucky was there.

Jason and Patrick talked about Michael's prognosis. Patrick admitted that recent tests had revealed that it was critical for Michael to undergo surgery immediately. Jason reminded Patrick that Carly was out of town. Patrick insisted that time was of the essence; he needed someone to give consent for the surgery. Patrick asked Elizabeth to notify him when Dr. Hensen arrived at the hospital. Patrick explained that they needed to do surgery on Michael as soon as possible. Matt tried to remind Patrick that it was Dr. Hensen's call to make, not Patrick's. Patrick refused to listen to Matt.

Patrick approached Dr. Hensen and Jax. Patrick explained that recent tests had indicated that Michael's NSD levels had dropped rapidly. It was Patrick's medical opinion that Michael required surgery within hours if there was any hope of a successful outcome. Dr. Hensen heartily disagreed. Patrick threatened to do the surgery himself if Dr. Hensen refused to operate. Jax decided to go with Dr. Hensen's recommendation. Patrick warned Jax that he was condemning Michael to a life in a coma. Jax informed Patrick that his services were no longer required. Patrick left a message for Sonny about Michael's prognosis. Jax overheard Patrick's end of the conversation. Jax accused Patrick of allowing his ego to guide his decision. Jax warned Patrick that Jax's family was at stake; Jax would do anything to protect them. Jax promised to sue Patrick for malpractice if Patrick didn't let the matter drop.

At the hospital, Patrick explained to Sonny that Michael's only chance for recovery was to have surgery as soon as possible. Jax told Sonny that Dr. Hensen had disagreed with Patrick's diagnosis. Jax believed that Patrick's ego had clouded his judgment.

Patrick was relieved that Carly had returned. Patrick began to plead his case for Michael's surgery. When Jax joined them, Jax presented Dr. Hensen's position. Carly calmly listened to Patrick and Jax. Jax realized that Carly had made her decision. Carly confirmed it; she gave Patrick her consent to operate on Michael.Jax attempted to persuade Carly to delay the surgery. Carly wasn't swayed. When he tried to enlist Jason's help, Jason supported Carly's decision.

Patrick reviewed a list of surgical instructions with Elizabeth. Matt approached them and advised Patrick against operating on Michael. Patrick asked Matt to join the surgical team. Matt reminded Patrick that Dr. Hensen was the expert, not Patrick. Patrick insisted that he knew what he was doing. Eventually, Matt capitulated and agreed to assist Patrick with the surgery. After Patrick and Matt scrubbed up for the surgery, Patrick made certain that his team was prepared for the surgery ahead. Everyone took their positions then proceeded to operate on Michael.

Patrick and Matt began Michael's surgery. They were doing well until they began to implant the devices into Michael's brain. Suddenly, Michael started to crash. They are able to get Michael's heart restarted. In the OR things were progressing smoothly. Michael had a bleeder, but Patrick quickly handled the problem and the team successfully implanted four of the electrodes necessary to stimulate Michael's brain and bring him to consciousness.

In the operating room, Liz saw the phone blinking, it was Epiphany asking if Patrick could speak with Carly. Patrick accepted the call and informed Carly that Michael's heart had stopped earlier. Once they restarted his heart, the surgery continued. Carly asked what would happen if they stopped the surgery at that point. Patrick said Michael would be stable, but he would be in a permanent coma. Patrick assured Carly he could complete the surgery and it would give Michael his greatest chance at recovery. Carly agreed that Patrick was their best bet and told him to continue.

Patrick entered the Michael’s room moments later to check on his vital signs. Carly and Jax were eager to know if there had been any improvement in Michael's condition. Patrick told them that Michael was stable. Patrick cautioned them that it could be hours before Michael emerged from the coma. Patrick returned to check on Michael. Carly sensed that Patrick was troubled. Patrick admitted that he was concerned that the longer Michael remained unresponsive, the less likely Michael would ever emerge from the coma.

Dr. Brown led a group meeting for mothers with postpartum depression. Robin was among the women assembled. Robin told everyone about her daily phone calls home to Emma. Robin worried about the time that she had lost with her daughter. The other mothers shared similar concerns. The women took turns talking about the struggles they had faced as a result of PPD. Dr. Brown explained that one of the problems with diagnosing the disease was that the symptoms didn't follow a certain pattern.
