Christmas music montage of various PCers that ends with Mike showing up at Sonny's door. Sonny is less than pleased to see Mike. Jason returns and finally talks Sonny into returning to PC! Touching moment as they arrive at the penthouse and Sonny sees Robin again. Robin tells Sonny that she is losing Jason to Carly, that Carly is using Michael to manipulate Jason. Sonny and Jason are at the Grille, and Sonny sees Jax. Sonny and Jax are going at it at the PC Grill, Sonny accuses Jax of killing Brenda. Robin stops them by asking them to stop and remember Brenda, and that they once both loved her and that she wouldn't want this. Jax tells Sonny to crawl back under the rock he escaped to when he left Brenda at the alter. Jax later tells Robin her life is going nowhere, and she'll just end up dead if she stays in Jason's and Sonny's world. Back at the penthouse, Sonny rants about Jax. He is furious that he left her and she died anyway and he blames Jax. Robin tries to defend Jax, but Sonny can't stand to hear it. Sonny tells her he misses Brenda everywhere he goes and he just needs space. Next, a montage to Brandy's song "Have you ever loved somebody?".

Sonny and Jason discuss Robin. Sonny doesn't understand why there is such a distance between Jason and Robin. He warns Jason against allowing Carly to use Michael to get her own way and that Jason is risking losing Robin. Then Lucky shows up and asks Sonny for a job, he sends him on an errand to Canada. Jason comes in with Michael and shows him off to Sonny. Later Robin confides to Sonny that Carly has all the power due to Jason's love for Michael. Then Jason tells Sonny that Justus is running for DA and of his connection to Marino, that a Marino run DA was not good news. In order to protect Micheal, Jason tells Sonny he will move them into the penthouse. Sonny wants to know, "What about Robin?".

Sonny pays Laura a visit, cute moment when he is introduced to Liz as Lucky's girlfriend. Sonny tells Laura he has seen Lucky and has given him a job, he assures her it is legit and will not endanger him. Laura tells Sonny that Luke left her, Sonny offers to help her or her children anyway he can. Sonny returns to the penthouse, Robin cries on his shoulder and tells him that Jason is moving in with Carly. Robin tells Sonny that she is leaving town. At the Q's, Sonny tells Edward that he intends to be an active member of the board of ELQ, and of course, Edward is not happy and blusters. Ned and Sonny spar - good to see them back at it again. Monica warns Sonny to not drag her son into the life of crime again. Back at the penthouse an emotional scene as Robin tells Sonny that she told AJ the truth about him being Michael's father. Sonny is disappointed with Robin's news, he considers it betraying Jason. Robin stands her ground by saying she did the right thing. Later, Jason also sees Robin telling AJ the truth as betrayal. He tells Sonny it is like Robin has died. Jason tells Sonny about Alexis being a good attorney and needing her for the custody trial that he sees coming. Sonny says goodbye to Robin, he is let down by her hurting Jason. Back at the Penthouse, Carly tries to bash Robin to Sonny and he cuts her off. She threathens Sonny that if she tells Jason to stay away from him in order to protect Michael that Jason would agree not to see Sonny. Sonny doesn't look too worried by this attempt to intimidate him! He tells Carly that he sees right through her act.

Sonny warns Jason that Carly could be the reason he might lose custody of Michael in the end. Its obvious that Sonny doesn't like or trust Carly. They go to the docks to look for a warehouse to house the new legal venture that they are doing to make themselves look legitimate. Sonny and Jason talk about the new business and the impending hell with the Q's. Jason mentions that he and Carly could go on the run from them and raise Michael away from PC. Sonny warns Jason that Carly is more of a danger than the Q's, he sees that she will play both ends. Sonny then mentions that he has a request for a meeting from Mac. Sonny tells Mac and Taggert that he is legit. Mac says he will keep an eye on him. Taggart waited for Sonny around town and warned Sonny that he would be watching.

Sonny, Jason and Benny (the lawyer) are discussing setting up a coffee business. Benny is thinking that it's just a front for their "real" business, but Sonny finally assures him that they really will be dealing with coffee. As they are concluding their business, A.J. shows up with the court order for Jason and Michael to get a blood test. At Kelly's, Sonny runs into Mike. Mike razes him about sending Lucky on an errand. Sonny assures Mike that he is going into the coffee business and will be completely legit, Sonny teases Mike that they will be calling him "Mocha Mike" and that lattes are now Sonny's life. Mike has his doubts that he really will never be out of his former profession. Sonny gets highly offended and complains that he's always tired of being dumped on and the attitude he gets from people. He says the Q's, Jax's and Cassidine's do far worse than he, but he is called the "criminial, hoodlum and mob boss". He ends by telling Mike that he will be untouchable.

Sonny on the docks thinking about Brenda, this was the last place he saw her alive. Mike comes upon him, they talk about her. Sonny is missing her terribly, feeling guilty over hurting her. He thought letting her go would give her a happy and safe life but she died anyway and he blames Jax for not protecting her. As Mike leaves Sonny, Luke arrives to see Sonny for the first time since his return. Luke wants to know the real reason that Sonny has returned to PC. Sonny goes to the Grille, and he asks Alexis to assist Jason in the custody battle. She is less than eager to help Sonny and refuses. Then Sonny runs into Jax, they verbally jab at each other. At Kelly's, Sonny stops by to pay his respects for Ruby's death. Back at the penthouse, Sonny complains to Jason about Mike's advice over what kind of coffee to buy - he recommends Kona. Sonny is pretty funny in his comments about what he thinks of Mike, the coffee expert's opinion. Sonny and Mike talk about Carly. Then, Taggart comes by with a warrant to search Sonny's. Carly has pressed charges against Jason for kidnapping Michael. Then Mac shows up and warns Taggert against again harrassing Sonny. Dara calls Sonny in for questioning about Jason. He doesn't have an attorney, Alexis overhears the questioning begin and offers to represent him. She is on fire and blasts Dara for involving Sonny with no evidence, Sonny grins as she launches into them. Mac arrives and is grumpy with Dara for using his office without his permission, Sonny's grin gets even bigger! He is very impressed with Alexis and wants her for his own attorney. She makes it clear she just helped him out this once and isn't planning on making this a permanent arrangement. Sonny meets Luke on the docks, he tells him that Jax is doing some digging on the Cassidines. Sonny arrives at Alexis' while Jax is still there. They stare each other down and then Sonny convinces Alexis to take on Jason's case out of owing him for being Tony's lawyer in his kidnapping trial. Alexis advises Sonny that if Carly is on Jason's side it will help his case. Sonny heads over to see Carly at the Q's, he overhears her telling AJ that Jason is a dangerous and violent criminal and that he kept her and Michael prisoner. Carly threatens to call the Q's in to throw Sonny out; he tells her to go ahead, that he would love to enlighten the Q's. Carly asks if Jason is back in town. Even if he was, he wouldn't want to have anything to do with her, Sonny says. Carly says that Jason knows her, he would know that things are not what they seem. Sonny tells her how stupid she is - how long after acquiring Michael would the Q's lock her up? Carly continues to believe that they can't keep Michael without Michael's mother. Sonny tells Carly that when Jason finds out what she's done, he'll never come back. Jason wouldn't do that to me! Carly insists. Sonny tells her that she'd better figure out what she's going to do once the Q's throw her out. Sonny leaves.

At the Penthouse, Sonny wants to go to the airport, even though all planes are delayed because of the upcoming storm. He tells Mike that he's going to warn Jason to never return to PC. Sonny tells Mike about all the lies Carly's been telling (Jason's violent, manipulative, etc.), and packs a bag. Mike wonders if Carly even tried to defend herself. Sonny says that he was hoping to work things out with Carly, but it's not going to happen. Sonny reassures Mike that he will come back to PC after talking to Jason. Carly shows up after Mike and Sonny leaves, and uses her key to enter. She searches for a number to use to reach Jason. She finds a cell phone and presses redial. Suddenly Sonny enters and finds her there. Great long series of scenes between Sonny and Carly as he confronts her over her betrayal of Jason. They are trapped in the penthouse with the electricity out due to the storm raging, he wants her to walk to the PC hotel just to get rid of her and she refuses. She battles Sonny, then tries to sway him to her side. He sees right through her. Then she tries to flirt with him to get him on her side, he accuses her of being willing to sell her body to him to get his support. No matter how much she protests she is still worried that Jason might turn against her when he hears Sonny's news of her double dealing.

Next, Sonny heads to the island and fills Jason in on Carly's double-crossing him with the Q's. Jason was expecting Carly to join him there. Sonny tells him that she has pressed kidnapping charges. Jason figures out that AJ blackmailed Carly with the threat of going back to Ferncliff. Sonny tries to convince Jason that Carly is a schemer, Jason believes her actions but says she loves Michael and he feels she had a reason for the things she did. Sonny advises Jason not to come back to PC as he believes Carly will take Michael from Jason. Jason decides to return to PC, and Alexis agrees to be his attorney. Sonny meets Marino on the docks (slight glitch here). Marino doesn't believe that Sonny is going into a legit coffee business. Taggert comes upon their meeting and continues to hassle Sonny. Sonny then runs into Jax and again blames him for Brenda's death. Jason and Sonny discuss Carly. Taggert interrupts another meeting between Jason and Sonny to tell them the coffee warehouse is on fire and burning to the ground. Sonny thinks Marino is responsible. At the fire, AJ shows up and demands to have Michael turned over to him before he is hurt. Alexis intervenes pointing out that this isn't the appropriate place or time to discuss custody. Sonny and Jason discuss who might be responsible for the fire, they begin to think it is the work of the Q's. Sonny and Mike at Kelly's, then Sonny meets up with Laura. He again offers to help her anyway he can. Tony antagonizes Jason who slugs him. Sonny stops Jason, he has lost Michael to the Q's and is devastated.

Sonny makes breakfast for Mike and they banter as usual, then Jason shows up. He has info on when Marino's drug shipment is coming in. They feed the info to the police. Taggert and Mac seize the drug shipment. Then Sonny visists Lily's grave. Alexis shows up at Sonny's and tells him and Jason that the court pyschiatrist is at the Q's further evaluating Michael in that environment. She suggests that Jason show up. So Sonny sells him some stock so he can go with him to the Q's on the pretext of attending the board meeting which is also schedule. Emily meanwhile is telling the doctor a few truths about how the Q's function (or don't) and the Q's further her case by erupting into an arguement and attacking each other verbally.

On the docks, Sonny stops a mugging, he is taken aback when he sees the young woman he has helped. She looks hauntingly like Brenda. Next Sonny runs into Jax, more digs about Brenda's death. After Jax leaves, Sonny sits pensively then Jason joins him. Luke finds his club vandalized and calls Sonny who heads right over. They believe it is a message from Marino. Sonny tells Jason who is worried that Marino will try to hit Sonny. Sonny back on the docks has a music montage of flashbacks of seeing Brenda on the docks in years past. Mike finds him, realizes he is still deep in mourning for Brenda. Sonny goes into Jake's, Hannah is his waitress (the girl he saved from the mugging). Sonny again stares at her with that stunned looked, the simiarity to Brenda is erie.
