Carly points out that she and Sonny have stopped A.J. before, they can do it again. Sonny makes note of the “we.” Carly says she’ll fight A.J. with or without Sonny. Agreeing to nothing, Sonny asks what her hypothetical course of action would be. Carly says they need to get A.J. quarantined and keep him in the hospital. Doesn’t he have anyone on the take at GH? Sonny says she’s been watching the gangster movies again. They’re joking around when Alexis shows up. Sonny asks her to subpoena Janine’s bank records, because he thinks she’s getting money from A.J. He says A.J. told Janine he wants to marry Courtney. Carly again suggests quarantine. Alexis takes a practical point of view: “He has something you want - Courtney. You have something he wants - Michael.” Carly immediately flips out and declares she will never bargain with her child. Alexis points out she was just making a case analysis, you need to look at what your opponent wants and find his weakness. Sonny leaves the room to go talk to Benny. Alexis hangs around, much to Carly’s annoyance. It doesn’t help when Alexis observes that Carly started the whole mess by lying about Michael’s paternity. An envelope is slid under the door. Carly yells for Sonny, then goes to pick it up. It’s A.J.’s handwriting, she says.

A few minutes later, Alan confronts the Sonny's bodyguards at the nurses’ desk, while Courtney, disguised in scrubs and a surgical mask, wheels a “dead” body towards the elevator. One of the goons tries to help, but Alan tells him to stay away that the body is contagious. A.J. and Courtney safely get on the elevator. Then they’re on the roof and a helicopter is coming for them. They celebrate their escape.

While Sonny reads AJ’s note, Carly and Alexis hold their breath waiting for his reaction. Struggling to maintain his composure, Sonny crumples the note and flings it away, walks to the bar and pours himself a drink. With his permission, Alexis retrieves the note and reads it aloud. It is apparent that AJ is taunting Sonny, as he informs the mobster that Courtney is “safe” with him and she “choose” to go away with him and “wants” Sonny to leave her alone. Benny arrives and the women excuse themselves so the men can talk “business”. Sonny issues some explicit instructions to Benny. He wants every person they “employ” in every place around the world to look for the pair. He wants all favors called in, and every resource used in the hunt for Courtney. He orders Benny to be make sure the men (Ken and Tim) who let Courtney and AJ escape, are NEVER in a position to let him down again! Oh and if possible – he wants Jason found (Hallelujah!) Benny warns that the cost for what Sonny wants done will be high, high enough to put him in the debt of others. Later, Sonny converses (in Spanish) with a man named Javier, whom he asks to be on the look out for Courtney. He tells Javier that he wants Courtney found, but not frightened and says he owes him. After pouring himself another drink, Sonny retreats to the balcony and replays scenes with Courtney and AJ over in his mind. Suddenly he picks up his things and rushes out the door.

Out in the hallway, Alexis tries to warn Carly not to do anything about AJ on her own. Alexis tries to tell Carly that if she does something rash, it may not only hinder Sonny’s attempts to find Courtney, but also damage Carly’s relationship with Sonny. Carly is just annoyed by Alexis' interfering.

Carly goes straight to her club where she finds Zander and asks him “How far are you willing you go with me?” In the office of Club 101, Zander asks Carly to be more specific about what she meant. Carly explains that Sonny has a problem and she has come up with a solution. She wants Zander to help her “put the screws to Skye”. Carly explains her plan to Zander. She wants him to help her dig up something on Skye that they can use against her to get Skye to help find out where Courtney is. Zander tries to reason with Carly and talk her out of another crazy idea. Carly tells Zander she isn’t stupid; she managed to make a club out of an old run-down building, and she will make the plan work too. It appears Carly is gaining ground as Zander considers her words. Zander wants to know if Sonny asked Carly to help. Carly declares that it doesn’t matter and insists that they need to use Skye to get to AJ. She then asks Zander “Are you with me or not?” Zander worries that illegal activities stemming from Carly’ plan could land him back in jail-a place he has no desire to revisit. Carly is given pause for thought when Zander points out that Michael would suffer if Carly were the one to end up in jail. When Zander presses, Carly admits that though she’s tried, she can’t get over Sonny and is willing to risk it all to help him out. Zander tells Carly that if she really loves Sonny like she says then she should respect his wishes and decisions. He also reminds her that Sonny has certain rules that he takes to heart and breaking them will only drive a wedge between her and Sonny. Carly doesn’t want a lecture from Zander. Before leaving the office, Zander advises Carly to leave the situation alone and let Sonny deal with in his own way.

Skye is in her office, gathers her things and rises to leave, but suddenly drops back into her chair as she sees Sonny lurking in the doorway. A nervous Skye tries to get rid of Sonny. She tells him Edward isn’t there-Sonny says he’s there to see her. She says she has nothing to say to him and threatens to call security to get him out. Sonny says, “Go ahead! What are you going to tell them? That there’s a stock-holder on the premises?” He asks her where AJ is. Skye says as far as she knows he’s in the hospital. Sonny tells her about the escape and tells her to listen up cause he’s about to make her an offer she can’t refuse. Skye says if Sonny is offering his ELQ stock then she is willing to listen. This makes Sonny laugh and he hands her the note from AJ. After she reads it, Sonny says she knows why it is unacceptable and tells her he intends to end it, here and now. Skye asks Sonny “what if I don’t help?”. Sonny says “then we have a problem”. Skye quips, “What are you going to do? Break my kneecaps? Fit me for cement shoes?”. Sonny explains that he cares for HIS sister as much as Skye appears to care for her brother. He tells her that if she helps get Courtney back safe and sound, in exchange AJ will walk away-in one piece. This upsets Skye and she starts to babble about how Sonny threatens everyone, a comment that Jax arrives just in time to overhear. Skye appeals to Jax to help her get Sonny to leave. Sonny explains to Jax that he made Skye an offer and entreats him to explain to Skye that sometimes-even enemies strike deals. Jax tells Sonny he knows about the escape and understands how he feels. Jax fills Sonny in on Helena’s escape and the Cassadine sisters’ refusal to hide. He tells Sonny to make sure they are kept safe. Sonny leaves.

Kristina’s pacing is brought to a halt by a knock on the door. She opens to find Sonny on the other side. Sonny asks to speak with Alexis and Kris gets in his face again about his treatment of her sister. Short on patience, Sonny walks away from her toward the door, commenting that he will just call Alexis on the phone. Kristina further upset Sonny when she comments that it’s no wonder Courtney ran away. Sonny demands she explain. Kris tell him that he make people feel insignificant when he just walks away with out acknowledging their comments. So Sonny tells her what he thinks of her, “You’re a selfish child with too much time on your hands.” He tells her she should stop telling people things that they didn’t ask to hear and that are none of her business. If she has issues with Alexis, she should take them up with Alexis, and if she doesn’t like it in the PH, then she can just move! Alexis appears at the top of the stairs, but makes no comment, so it is unclear how much of the conversation she overhear. An unusually quiet Kristina mounts the stairs as Alexis descends. Once face to face with Sonny, Alexis offers an uncomfortable hello.

Skye arrives at Carly’s office and meekly (at least for her) asks if Jax is around. He isn't. Surprisingly, Carly smiles and extends a friendly invitation for Skye to “come in, sit down”. Carly uses the opportunity to try to get information about AJ’s whereabouts. Carly foolishly tries to appeal to Skye, but it doesn’t work. Skye isn’t convinced that AJ is any more unsafe a choice than Sonny and she refuses to help. Bobbie, who’s been worried about Carly’s safety with Helena on the loose, shows up with Scott. Skye leaves. Carly reassures Bobbie everyone is safe. Bobbie asks what she walked in on with Skye and wonders why Carly is so intent on helping Sonny. Carly gets one of her brilliant ideas and races out.

Alexis tells Sonny he looks terrible and that he should rest. When Sonny turns toward her sofa, Alexis quickly adds “in your own PH”. She leads the way across the hall. While Sonny pours himself a drink, Alexis nods her head in the direction of the kitchen and asks if he is hungry. With an amused laugh (the one that brings out his dimples) Sonny says, “What would you do if I was?”. Alexis quips “I’d order in!”. She then offer to get him a glass of warm milk or sing him a lullaby despite singing like a drowning cat. Sonny manages to render Alexis speechless when he asks if she is going to tuck him into bed. Alexis is trying to help Sonny out, suggests he go to bed. He flirts with her, makes her uncomfortable. Mike shows up and Sonny gets violently angry with him. When Mike leaves, Alexis finally is able to convince Sonny to go up to bed. He wants her to put him to bed. She walks him to his door, he wants her to go into his bedroom. Then he flirts with him some more and even disrobes in front of her. She is incredibly uncomfortable. He just grins at her. Finally asleep, he has a nightmare about himself as a boy, locked in a closet, with his mom yelling for help, but then he realizes he is a grown man still locked in the closet and Courtney is the one screaming for help. He wakes up from the nightmare to find Alexis still there. He doesn’t want to talk about it; she agrees sometimes talking is useless. Sonny (still in robe and mussed hair) gives further instructions over the phone in the continuing search for his sister. Alexis tries to convince Sonny that going after her and AJ will only aggravate things further. She advises him to be patient and let Courtney realize her mistake on her own. Then he can be there for her when she is ready to open up to him. Sonny explains why he can’t wait and take the chance that AJ will hurt her physically or do permanent emotional damage. Alexis beats a hasty exit when Sonny announces he is going to take a shower.

Skye is out walking alone on the property when someone grabs her from behind and throws her into a shed, locking it behind her. It is Carly!! Skye demands to be released from the boathouse, when that doesn’t work she tries threatening. She warns that whoever is doing this will be sorry when they have to answer to the Q’s and Jax. Then she has a thought; what if whoever is out there knows who she is and isn’t afraid of the Q’s or Jax? Her growing terror has her immediately thinking its Sonny! Her thoughts are confirmed when Carly slips a note under the door warning that if she doesn’t help get Courtney back, both she and AJ will be sorry. Carly bursts into her office, in and unaware that Jax is behind the door disposing of some trash, she happily boasts to her mother that she got best of Skye. Bobbie excuses herself to let Carly and Jax talk business. Jax asks Carly what she did to Skye, but Carly lies saying she only gave Skye a piece of her mind. She does admit she wishes someone would hurt Skye. She gives Jax a detailed description of what she would do to Skye in a W-W-F type-wrestling match. Jax’s knee-jerk defense of Skye makes Carly ask if Jax has fallen for her. When Jax vehemently denies it, Carly give him the “love” test. Despite (or because of) Jax’s non-answers Carly realizes it’s really true and advises him to “RUN” away from his feelings and Skye before she ends up trashing his life. Jax points out that he gave Carly much the same advise about Sonny and she didn’t take it. After Jax leaves, Bobbie returns and presses Carly into telling her what happened with Skye. Bobbie warns Carly that she might have gone too far, but Carly scoffs saying that she didn’t actually hurt Skye, just scared her. Still worried, Bobbie seeks legal advise from Scotty who warns an acquittal could be iffy if the “hypothetical” situation was brought to trial. His advice is for the “perp” to turn herself in and have the “victim” released ASAP.

Skye tries to find comfort by reassuring herself that someone will look for her soon. Then, she lapses into bout of self-pity as she realizes that she has managed to drive a wedge between herself and anybody who might have cared. She gets angry at AJ when she realizes that she can lay the blame for all of it, at his door. She finally does hear someone outside but doesn’t call out because she is afraid it’s one of Sonny’s men. She convinces herself that this “person” might kill her if she doesn’t give the right answers to his questions. She is completely unaware that the person outside is Alan. Cold and afraid, she starts to look for another way out. She manages to find a trap door in the floor. She can jump down and swim away, but the water is F-R-E-E-Z-I-N-G! Jax knocks on Skye’s hotel room door but get no answer. Skye gathers up her courage, slips off her shoes, sits on the edge of the trap door opening and slips her feet into the water below.

Johnny shows up with an envelope addressed to Sonny. Inside are (instant foto-booth) pictures of AJ and Courtney laughing and playing about. Upset, Sonny gets dressed and takes off. A troubled Sonny goes to a church to pray. He discusses his inner turmoil with God and the priest. The Father tells him how much his monetary support has meant to their church, etc. Sonny says cryptically " Perhaps I can buy my way into Heaven". Sonny tells the Father that he has a profound darkness inside of him that will not go away. He says that he has seen no light. He says : "Maybe You do not get what I am saying, but God knows". Sonny also asks : "Why does God take the people I love?" The Catholic priest listens to Sonny's plea for contentment. He tells Sonny that in order to cease having his negative, dark, endless, nightmares, etc. that he might want to change the way he is living his life. Then, He may see the light. Sonny seems to be pondering this thought.

Skye decides to swim out of the room through a hole or something. She is cold, and pleading for God's and Jax's help. Carly does return to the boathouse to let her out, but she finds no Skye. Alexis and Carly run into each other on the Q estate. Later, Bobbie confronts Carly about her "Mischievous trick on Skye", Carly looks sheepish. She admits to wanting to help Sonny. Carly says:" He's hurting so I want to help him." Bobbie asks the big one:" Is this loving him or being in love with him?" A tearful Carly says:" I'm not sure." Meanwhile Skye crawls out, lying on the grass of the Q estate, freezing cold, soaking wet. Jax is stunned to find the hypothermic Skye lying in a shuddering pile.

Sonny told Carly that he met with Skye and offered her a deal if she could get AJ to back away from Courtney. Carly argued that AJ would walk away free and get to kidnap his sister. Sonny tried to assure Carly that this is the best way and that he was going to trust Skye. Carly didn't agree and told Sonny that she "saw" Skye at her club. She tells him about their argument and tells him he can trace her calls and have her followed but Sonny says that he doesn't care about Skye he just wants his sister back. Carly sweet talks him and tells him to have patience. Courtney will see thru AJ and take her knocks and then come back to Sonny. Carly goes to make Sonny something to eat and comes back to find him sleeping on the couch. She covers him up and watches him sleep.

The next morning, Sonny is on the phone again while he paces back and forth in Carly’s living room. Carly arrives downstairs, (in a silky red nightgown) and Sonny thanks her for the use of the sofa. Carly tells him she is glad he finally slept and adds that he is welcome to the sofa “anytime” he needs it. Michael bounds down the stairs, and excited that “Uncle Sonny” is still there quickly offer to make him a bowl of cereal for breakfast. Afterward, Sonny is amazed when Carly tells him that she thinks they should give up on Skye helping to get Courtney back. Sonny reiterates that it is the best shot they have at the moment, but gets a bit suspicious and asks why she suddenly wants to give up. Unable to bring herself to tell Sonny what she has done, Carly claims that she just wouldn’t trust anything Skye tells them. Michael returns and coaxes Sonny outside to look at his tomato plants. Zander arrives and gets Carly back under suspicion when he comments thank heaven she didn’t do anything crazy last night after all. Sonny overhears the comment and demands an explanation. Carly’s skills at lying come in handy as she tells Sonny that it was just hot air and Zander deflated her. Sonny leaves, but does not look totally convinced by Carly’s tale. Once alone with Zander, Carly confesses all. Zander is amazed and hopes Carly’s stunt doesn’t come back to bit someone on the butt. Carly assures Zander that Skye couldn’t possibly have seen who locked her in, so she can’t cause trouble, it basically just amounted to a harmless prank. She asks Zander not to tell Sonny, since it appears she and her ex-hubby have come to some sort of understanding and could be on the verge of reconciliation. For some crazy reason Zander agrees not to tell Sonny anything.

Sonny returns to his PH to find Kristina and Alexis still there. (Alexis was pondering where she should call Benny and report Sonny missing or just wait until someone called her and reported that Sonny was jailed-again). After Sonny refuses breakfast Kristina excuses herself. Sonny thanks Alexis for her efforts and tender care of the night before. Sonny explains to Alexis that he spent the night at Carly’s-on the sofa; then had breakfast with Michael. Alexis comments that she didn’t think hangovers and milk made a good combination. Sonny tells her that he didn’t have a hangover; cause he didn’t drink enough to blackout (apparently that the only time he gets hangovers). Alexis urges him to get to bed and rest. In between flirting and awkward silences, Alexis tells Sonny that she ran into Carly on the Q property. She explains that Carly had a "good" theory that AJ and Courtney could have been on the grounds. But, she goes on to explain, they split up to search and came up empty handed. This info gives Sonny a moments pause. Then, Johnny arrives with info that they traced from Skye’s cell phone. After reading the paper, Sonny tells Alexis that he knows where AJ is, right down to the hotel room number. Alexis insists that she is going with Sonny (to the location he has tracked AJ and Courtney to). He says no, he doesn't want her involved. She insists that he needs someone rational that won't take orders from him. If he ignores her advice then she won't represent him if he is arrested. She reminds him of what happened at Carly's club when AJ kissed Courtney and if he loses it she won't clean up after him. He finally agrees for her to accompany him and as they are heading out the door, Taggert shows up to arrest Sonny for having Skye locked up in the boathouse. Sonny insists that he had nothing to do with it.

Carly is nervous about her driving test. Zander arranges chairs in the living room to do a run through so she will know what to expect during the test. He warns her these guys will be watching every move she makes so she needs to be prepared for it. She laughs that she was married to Sonny Corinthos (implying that after that no one else is going to intimidate her!). Zander acts out the role of driving evaluator using a heavy NY accent. Carly worries to Zander about the consequences of her locking Skye up in the boathouse. Can he teach her not to fly off and lose her temper and do crazy things? He assures her that she will be fine that she is just nervous about the test. Carly and Zander hear the news on the radio about Sonny's arrest and head to the PD.

Down at the PCPD, Alexis tells Sonny that Jax wouldn't bring charges some kind of proof. Sonny assures her that it wasn't him. Alexis says she knows who did it and tells Sonny about seeing Carly at the Q's that night. Skye is telling her story to the police, Alexis interrogates her about the medical record of her trauma (there was none since Jax didn't take her to the hospital but back to his place). Skye talks about the note, which she admits wasn't signed by Sonny. Alexis is ripping apart the non-existent case against Sonny. Skye asks her how she can be so sure Sonny didn't do it. Carly walks in and says because she is the one who did do it! Carly’s statement is meet with less than belief by Taggart, Skye and Mac (who has suddenly appeared in the scene).

Jax has a flashback of Carly arriving in her office boasting of having gotten the better of Skye, but does not say anything. Sonny tries to stop Carly from making matters worse and even tries to get Alexis to give Carly an alibi. Alexis does admit to seeing Carly on the Q grounds, but can neither deny nor confirm Carly’s activities. Carly insists that she is the guilty party, but Zander urges her to keep quiet as it is only making matters worse. Sensing that Sonny might get out through a loophole, Skye states that she wants Sonny arrested for attempted murder. Mac tells Skye she admitted that she went into the water of her own free will, so no can do. Skye says Sonny threatened AJ’s life. Alexis quickly points out that Skye has no witnesses or proof of the alleged threat. In between warning Taggart that he should dismiss himself from the case, and telling Mac he is making a mistake, Alexis insists that her client be released. Mac tells her that Sonny will have to wait (in a holding cell) like every other accused person, until the ADA can review the evidence and decide if there is a case. Mac orders Taggart to escort Sonny to a holding cell, an order Taggart is happy to obey.

Carly privately informs Alexis that she has to get Sonny out immediately because he is claustrophobic. But warns her that Sonny doesn’t want the PCPD to know. Alexis insists on keeping a claustrophobic Sonny company. Sonny paces his cell like a caged animal and snarls at Alexis in an effort to get her to leave him alone. Alexis guesses correctly that he is trying to get rid of her because he doesn’t want her to witness his panic. She bravely shouts at Sonny that she won't be the target for his rage and frustration. When Sonny snarls at her again, she picks up her briefcase and walks away. As the echo of her footsteps fade away, Sonny starts to feel the walls closing in. Shortly, thereafter, he hears the sound of approaching footsteps and tentatively calls out to Alexis, who reappears with a friendly and calming smile. To keep the phobia at bay, Sonny asks Alexis to regale him with the first time she had one of her panic attacks. Most of the story is lost in the background as we get to hear and see it from Sonny’s point view-which is quickly fading farther and farther away. We got enough to know that it happened after she was sent to boarding school (at the age of 14) and thought Helena showed up one day. The conversation turns to uniforms and field trips, and they end up wondering if they might have seen each other at a ballet performance. Seems it was a regular trip for the schoolgirls, and Sonny confesses he treated his mother to a matinee performance as soon as he could afford it, and wouldn’t you know it, there was a gaggle of uniform wearing schoolgirls in the next box. Sonny thanks Alexis and admits that having her around helped him deal with his phobia. Taggart returns and announces that ADA Jenson has arrived. He escorts the duo back to the offices.

After Taggart pushes Sonny into a cell (with a little more force than needed), Sonny warns him to be careful or he’ll find him end of a harassment suit. Alexis arrives and uses her legal expertise (not to mention a couple of threats) to get Taggart to agree to let her “confer” with her client. After Taggart leaves, telling Alexis to take as long as she needs since Sonny will be there for awhile, Alexis tells Sonny she is there to keep him company. Carly continues to plead with Jax to believe her confession and help her get Sonny sprung. Jax stands firm in his belief that Sonny needs to pay. Carly finally manages to convince Jax that SHE is the one guilty of pushing Skye into the boatshed when she tells him, she might not be able to remember the words, but the note was written in blue crayon, something she couldn’t possibly know unless she wrote it! Skye exits the station house in time see Carly and Jax conversing.

In the interrogation room- Mac tells Skye that he doesn’t think the case will hold, but she is welcome to give her statement to Dara for review. Jax tells Carly that he asked Skye to drop the charges, but admits he doesn’t know if she will listen to him. Alexis insists on sitting in on Dara and Skye’s interview. As Sonny, Jax and Carly watch through the window, Dara begins her questioning. “Now, Miss Q, can you tell me how you managed to get yourself in to this predicament?" A tearful Skye tells Dara about her ordeal. When Dara asks if Skye knows who is responsible, Skye tells her that she's sure PC’s most notorious mobster-Sonny-was responsible. Alexis jumps in and asks how Skye knows, did she see or hear Sonny that night? Aware that Jax is watching and has threatened to expose her if she lies, Skye is forced to admit that not only did she not see or hear Sonny or any of his men-she didn’t see or hear anyone at all. Dara informs Alexis that her client is free to go, as there are no grounds for holding him. Upset, Skye runs into the squad room (and straight towards Sonny) screaming that they can’t let Sonny go because his is going to kill AJ. Sadly Taggart informs her that the have no grounds for holding him, as Skye watches Alexis and Sonny leave the room. Carly races after Sonny, but when she catches up to him outside the station, he brushes her off saying that he has important matters to take care of. Zander warns Carly to leave Sonny alone and tells her that if she ignores his advice again it will be the last advice she gets from him. Carly’s reaction to that statement is to brush his arm off and go after Sonny anyway.

Sonny informs Alexis that the delay has given AJ time to give him the slip and they are back where they started-searching. A knock on the door interrupts their conversation. It’s Carly, who refuses to go away until Sonny hears her out. After he reluctantly lets her in, she rudely dismisses Alexis, but Sonny orders her to thank Alexis for covering for her. Carly points out that Alexis didn’t do it to help her, but because Sonny asked her too. Never-the-less says Sonny, as he points out that if Carly had been arrested the Q’s would have had an opening to get Michael back. If you can’t do if for yourself, do it for Michael. Carly glares at Alexis. Alexis tells Carly she didn’t lie for her, she used “creative semantics.” She leaves Carly & Sonny alone. Carly tells her ex that Alexis can’t be trusted. He admonishes Carly for her behavior, asking her if she ever puts Michael first. Carly explains that she is not his problem to solve. They discuss their mutual distrust of each other. Carly doesn’t seem to understand why Sonny doesn’t trust her. She doesn’t like to be cut out of the loop. He doesn’t discuss business with her. He tells Carly to think through her actions and to leave Skye alone.

Carly uses the opportunity to put down Skye and say how crazy she must have been to be scared. No normal person would have been scared in a similar situation. Sonny says the difference between Skye & Carly is that Carly is brave and Skye is a coward. They make amends. Then, Carly puts down Alexis and says that she probably thinks she knows him and has seen him at his worst, but only Carly herself has really seen that. Sonny tells her that years ago, when she helped him at rock bottom, maybe he still feels like he owes her for that. He isn’t trying to treat her like his property. Sonny goes to Alexis' penthouse after Carly leaves. He has made Cappuccino. Alexis prattles on about her inability to cook. Sonny tells her she is the only person he can trust now. Alexis is both flattered and flustered when Sonny tells her she is the only person he can really trust. They both tiptoe around admitting their feelings but do agree that they are happy with their “unique relationship”. Jax arrives and wants to call in the favor he thinks Sonny owes him for getting Skye to drop the charges. Sonny doesn't believe there was a "favor"-Skye didn’t have any proof. Jax wants Sonny to promise not to lay a finger on AJ if he finds Courtney first. Sonny warns Jax to stay out of it, especially if Jax can’t assure him that Courtney will not be physically or emotionally damaged.

At Club 101, Carly offers Jax a drink. He wonders what he should do about his “dangerous” partner. She tells him that Sonny is out of her life and that the incident tonight will never happen again. She tells Jax to stay away from Skye, it’s in his best interest. He said he’ll take it under advisement, considering the source. They share a hug as Skye looks on. She again promises there will not be a repeat performance of her antics and he tells her if there is, he will shut down the club so fast. As Jax leaves, Skye comes out of the darkness and scares her. “Hello Carly!” Carly basically laughs in Skye’s face after she issues a veiled threat to lock Carly in her own freezer. Carly warns Skye not to even think of messing with her. She points out all the stupid mistakes that Skye has made, both the night of the incident and in her perusal of Jax. She says they are more alike that they care to admit and states that they can help each other get what they want. Skye appears to be listening and Carly re-extends Sonny offer of immunity for AJ if Skye helps get Courtney back unharmed. Skye tells Carly no deal because she doesn’t trust Sonny to keep his word. She also gets in a few jabs about how close Sonny and Alexis appear to be getting-thanks to Carly’s little stunt. Carly informs Skye that Sonny is a man of his word-just like Jax. Skye still refuses and Carly warns her that it’s a mistake AJ could end up paying for. Before leaving, Skye assures Carly that she will strike back for the “prank” Carly pulled on her and when she does, Carly won’t see it coming.

Alexis says Jax is right in wanting to keep Sonny away from A.J. She says if he does something illegal he’ll go to prison, which is bad for his claustrophobia. Sonny acts like there’s no problem. Alexis points out that A.J. is trying to get him to lose control. She warns him that if he does anything illegal she will rescue herself from the case, and he will go to prison. Then she’d miss him. Who would talk her down when she’s ranting? Who would cook her good meals? Who would she talk to? Sonny assures her he’s not going to prison. He takes an eyelash off her cheek, she makes a wish. The moment is interrupted by a tone from her laptop telling her she has mail. They go check and see a photo of Courtney in bed (obviously wearing nothing under the sheets) and a note from A.J.: “I’ve got her now. Love to you both, A.J.” Alexis accidentally erases the message. Sonny heads across the hall. Ned arrives and says he knows where they are, but can he trust Alexis not to say anything to Sonny? She promises. Ned tells her where A.J. is and says he’ll be back to pick up Alexis later to take her there. Alexis goes upstairs to get ready. Alexis is ready to go with her suitcase when Sonny knocks on her door. He says he’s headed to the Caribbean to be close when his contacts catch up with A.J. He wants to know where she’s going. Ned arrives and says she’s going to L.A. with him to help him with some contract disputes. Sonny says he wants the truth. If she knows where Courtney and A.J. are, she should tell him. He fixes a torn Alexis with his cold stare.

Both Sonny and Ned pressure Alexis for different reasons. Sonny wants to know if Alexis’ knows where AJ and Courtney are. Ned wants her to lie to Sonny and say she is doing some legal work for him in LA. After asking Sonny for an assurance that AJ will not be harmed, Alexis admits that she does know where the couple is. Then, despite Ned's protests, stating that as Courtney’ brother Sonny has right to know, she tells him that AJ and Courtney are in a private villa on the island of St. Sofia. Sonny thanks her and goes to his PH. Ned and Alexis carry their dispute into the hallway. Ned bashes Alexis for betraying his trust as Zander and Kristina exit the elevator. They hear Ned tell Alexis that he will never trust her again and coldly tell her to go after Sonny, since it is obvious she really wants too. He also adds that AJ's death will be on her conscience.

Carly arrives to meet Bobbie, but only finds Roy. Carly is glad that Luke isn’t there, but Roy assures her that as part owner, he will welcome her business. They commiserate over the sad state of their personal lives. Roy compares Carly & Sonny’s relationship to musical chairs. Carly suggests they have a private party-together. Roy tells her it’s a bad idea. She can wreck her life if she wants too, but he doesn’t any trouble at the moment. Luke arrives in time to overhear the tail end of Roy’s comment and tells his niece to stop harassing the employees. In the ensuing conversation Luke advises Carly to stop blaming others for her choices. He also tells her that he doesn’t hate her, but adds that he only accepts her because Bobbie cares for her. Later, Luke tries to chase Carly away with rudeness, but Carly won’t go. She tells him that she does take responsibility for her actions. Luke tells her it’s not just about apologizing, but she must also learn from her mistakes and change. Carly leaves a message for Bobbie and finally leaves the club.

Alexis joins Sonny on his plane and sits in silence for a while. Shortly after take-off she wonders if Sonny is going to make the trip in silence. Sonny says he can no longer trust her, but Alexis points out that she believes she just proved differently. They spend most of the rest of the flight staring silently at each other. Somewhere in the Caribbean airspace, Sonny paces the plane restlessly as the pilot announces they are about to arrive at their destination. Over in Jax's plane, Ned's voice is heard on their radio, warning them that Sonny knows where AJ is and has probably already left. Jax gets a chance to say, “I told you so” when Ned tells him he was right about Alexis telling Sonny.

Down on the docks, Zander finds Carly sitting on bench, crying. Zander wonders if Carly is okay. She is annoyed with herself and dares Zander to say, “I told you so.” She tells him that Luke got to her and that Luke was right in telling her that she will always find a way to destroy her life. They lament the way they act in some situations, but Carly insists for the countless time that Sonny doesn’t matter to her anymore, that she isn’t going to do anything to help him anymore. Zander tells her that Sonny & Alexis have flown to the Caribbean after AJ. Carly is interested! She is worried that Sonny is making this whole thing with AJ personal, something he always warned her about. Carly says a part of her is interested in going after Sonny, but she won’t. Maybe this is what it likes to think something through, she wonders. She is staying put.

In the air, en route to St. Sophia, Sonny & Alexis find out they are going to be the last plane allowed to land that night. Alexis suggests that Sonny kill AJ once he finds him. She then goes through the defense she would offer. Once he catches on, she tells him she does not think he will kill AJ or she would not have come along. She thinks he has self-control and willpower. Sonny tells a story about how he took care of his mom when he was younger and how that led to Deke’s death. He says he has to take care of his family now, too. Alexis points out that AJ is not Deke. Jax & Skye have also arrived in St. Sophia, they come across two of Sonny's guards who tell them to head back to their airplane. Jax tries bribing the two men with $100,000, but neither are interested. No worries, Kung Fu Skye and Jax manage to beat up the very large goons with no problem. Meanwhile, Sonny has found the hotel room. Alexis urges him to be cautious. He stands outside the bedroom and when he goes in he finds AJ & Courtney in bed together! Sonny is mad!

Alexis asks Courtney if she is okay, Courtney says, “uh, no, my psycho brother just burst into my room!” (or words to that effect). AJ jumps out of bed and takes Sonny out on the balcony. Sonny grabs AJ by the neck. He threatens throwing him off the railing, making it look like an accident. “Stop!” Courtney screams. “He’s my husband.” The two lovebirds have just been married! Courtney pleads with Sonny to leave her husband alone. Alexis tells him to let A.J. go. A remarkably cool A.J. professes his love for Courtney and assures Sonny he wants her to be happy. Courtney begs him not to hurt her by hurting A.J. Sonny finally lets go of A.J. The newlyweds embrace, just as Jax and Skye arrive. A.J. tells them he and Courtney are married.

Alexis tries to settle Sonny down by assuring him that Courtney will end the marriage when she realizes what a jerk A.J. is. Sonny starts telling Alexis about his mother’s wedding to Deke and how he thought Deke would take care of his mother. But he only kept up the nice guy act for awhile, Sonny relates, before he showed his true colors. Alexis points out that there’s no indication that A.J.’s ever been physically abusive. There are other types of abuse, Sonny says, adding that Courtney could lose her self-respect. One day A.J.’s mask will slip, he proclaims. “He’s not in love with Courtney; he’s in hate with me.” Alexis again says that Courtney will end the marriage. But after she’s lost how much? Sonny wants to know. Don’t intercede, Alexis warns. Sonny convinces her that he needs some time alone to think, so Alexis goes inside.

A.J. joins Sonny on the terrace and offers to end the marriage in exchange for Michael. “Your sister for my son,” he tells Sonny. AJ gives Sonny the details of the deal he is offering. He will have the marriage to Courtney annulled, if Sonny and Carly will give him full custody of Michael. AJ, sure that he finally has Sonny over a barrel, pushes his luck and gloats a little. He taunts Sonny by rubbing in the fact that he slept with Courtney. High on the power of having the upper hand, AJ further taunts by saying he will allow Carly to visit Michael but Sonny will be cut out of Michael’s life completely. He tells Sonny that the deal will only be complete if Sonny himself brings Michael to him and hands the child over. AJ even agrees to the “prove” Sonny right by admitting to Courtney that he was just using her. Sonny remains quiet, but glares coldly at AJ. Inside, Courtney continues to defend her actions and her husband to those present (Jax, Skye, Ned & Alexis). Alexis tries to assure her that they are all just concerned for her well being. Sonny and AJ return and AJ announces that Sonny has an announcement. Sonny asks to speak with Courtney alone first. Sure in the knowledge that he’s won, AJ agrees and the siblings step out on to the terrace. Jax approaches a smirking AJ and tells him he overheard the offer he made to Sonny and thinks he is a slime ball!

Out on the terrace, Courtney twirls to show Sonny her wedding dress, she is glowing with happiness. Sonny has only one question for his sister, “Do you really love AJ?”. Courtney gushes on about how she loves AJ and how much AJ respects her. She tells her brother that she is happy, and wants him to be happy for her too. Once they are back inside, Sonny announces that the time has come for him to make some concessions. He tells everyone that all he ever wanted was for Courtney was for her to be happy. Sonny says that everyone present knows he doesn’t like AJ, but Courtney loves him. And since AJ has managed to convince him that he also cares for Courtney and will dedicate the rest of his days to making her happy he wants to throw a wedding reception in their honor. Sonny has a wide grin on his face as he hugs his sister and offers AJ congratulations on his marriage. Sonny retreats to the balcony and makes arrangements for the party. Alexis follows and after learning of the deal AJ pitched, agrees that Sonny did the best thing he could under the circumstances-since giving AJ custody was never an option. Sonny expresses the hope that the cost to Courtney will not be too high. Later, with the party in full swing, Sonny offers a toast or a threat, depending on how you look at it. “To Courtney and AJ, ‘til DEATH do you part”. He puts on some music and asks his sister to share the traditional first dance with him. The party moves to the terrace, but before going outside Jax congratulates AJ on getting himself out of the frying pan-and landing directly in the fire. Skye urges to AJ to call it quits and give Courtney a divorce, but AJ stubbornly refuses to admit defeat. Alone in the living room he looks around for something and sees a champagne glass on the table he picks it up and contemplates it contents. He takes a small sip, then drains the glass.

GH continues with the next episode. As the dancing continues on the terrace, A.J. continues drinking champagne out of the view of everyone else. A bit later, Courtney thanks her big brother for changing his mind in time to share the happiest day of her life. Sonny assures a beaming Courtney that the vendetta is over and even gives a wary A.J. a hug as he welcomes him to the family. At the airport, Alexis and Sonny have to wait for some minor repairs to the plane. Alexis is suspicious and questions Sonny’s happy mood considering the circumstances. Sonny tells her that since there is nothing he can do about what has already happened he has to accept it and go from there. He tries to distract her with a card game. Later, we are treated to a rare sight-a giggling Alexis playfully accuses a laughing, teasing Sonny of cheating at poker.

Sonny and Alexis step off the elevator, Sonny with a cane and his one foot obviously injured. Alexis makes some comment about how he could sue himself for those dangerous stairs coming off his airplane. Alexis says she can’t believe how he’s been able to detach himself from the situation with Courtney, “with the exception of nearly pitching A.J. off the balcony.” Sonny thanks her for keeping him calm and tells her to get some sleep. After another struggle with her key, Alexis manages to enter her penthouse. After saying goodbye to Alexis, Sonny returns to his penthouse and places bundles of cash into a briefcase. There’s a knock at the door. It’s Mike, who got Sonny’s message and rushed right over. Sonny tells him what transpired in the Caribbean, including the trade offered by A.J. Sonny says he’ll never give him the chance to hurt Michael. “You learn who you are by watching your father or learn who you never want to be,” Sonny says. He tells Mike where A.J. and Courtney are enjoying their honeymoon but won’t let Mike go down there. Instead, he advises Mike to be patient, tell Courtney he’s proud of her, be a supportive father. Don’t let anything come between you and her, Sonny says, not even me. What do you mean? know. Evading the question, Sonny gives him a check (a small fortune) and orders him to use it for Courtney. Sonny adds that he never cared that Mike was broke, just that he walked out on his mother. Mike says he wants his child back, not the man “Sonny Corinthos.” Sonny again insists that Mike take care of Courtney. Mike reluctantly agrees to give her the check but declares he will tell her who the money really came from. Fine, Sonny says, just stay close to her. That’s your job, Mike. Mike leaves, telling “Michael” he loves him on his way out.

Later, Sonny meets with Benny. He hands over the briefcase of money and talks about hiring some guys who are real good and won’t leave any evidence. Benny points out that it will still be obvious that Sonny had a hand in it. He tries to convince him to wait and plan an “accident” in the future. Sonny says no, he’s already waited too long. Benny leaves with the briefcase. Alexis steps off the elevator just in time to hear Sonny calling to Benny, “without a trace.” She sees Benny and Max and tries to find out what’s going on. Getting nowhere with them, she goes in to see Sonny. I understand now why you’re so calm, Alexis says. You’ve given the order to have A.J. killed, haven’t you? Alexis asks Sonny-point blank-if he's ordered a hit on A.J. Sonny reminds Alexis that she never wanted to be part of any illegal activity and warns her not to question him further, but she doggedly presses on. A tearful Alexis tells Sonny that she has never believed he is the cold-blooded killer everyone has labeled him. She states that she has put everything on the line for him and their relationship. Alexis then warns him that their friendship will be finished if A.J. dies. Sonny finally calls off the “hit” to prove to Alexis how much she means to him. He then pulls Alexis into a hug, which leads to a passionate kiss. Sonny makes love to a willing, but shaky Alexis. Sonny said, "You forced me to choose, and I have chosen you."

Carly tells Zander that she had kept her cool and distance from Sonny because of him. She buys a pool table and wants to take him out for dinner to show her appreciation. In the mean time, a rather perturbed Kristina tells Zander "You were right. Ned just wanted me because I do not have the baggage Alexis has." She infers that now will be a great time for him to put the move on Carly. He says, "When the time is right, moves are made." Carly is finally seen with new little redheaded Michael. He has made something for Sonny and is anxious to give it to him. Carly tells him that she will hand deliver it to Sonny. When she arrives at the penthouse, the door is unlocked. She tiptoes upstairs and finds Alexis in a warm embrace in bed with Sonny. Shocked to see the reflection of Sonny and Alexis in bed together, Carly backs up and leaves hurriedly. She is unaware that she has dropped Michael's birthday card and it has fluttered under the furniture. Carly finds a shirtless Zander asleep in his room at Jake's. Zander wakes and is pleased to find Carly kissing him. He questions her timing but Carly assures him that now that she is done chasing Sonny, she has finally seen what is in front of her, which is him! After some passionate kissing and a few discarded clothing items-hers, Carly lets slip that she just caught Sonny in bed with Alexis. Upset at this news, feeling she is using him because she is upset at Sonny being with Alexis, Zander breaks the pool cue she gave him and kicks Carly out.

Sonny and Alexis' night is interrupted when Max arrives with some documents Benny sent over. Max takes the opportunity to let Sonny know that people are talking about his canceled hit. Sonny not to subtly hints that Max ought to warn his cohorts not to second guess him. He tells Max to inform everyone that they are to not to touch AJ. Sonny points out that now that he is Courtney’s husband, AJ is his own personal problem. A problem he will deal with in his own way and time. Sonny then heads back upstairs where he rejoins a contented but worried Alexis in bed. Alexis wonders what the morning after will bring; with a tender kiss on the forehead, Sonny assures her all will be well.

Zander is in Kelly's and hears a news broadcast on the radio about an accident involving a car with the same description of Carly's, Zander goes rushing out. At Sonny’s, Alexis tries to leave without waking him but he asks her if she is leaving the scene of the crime with just a hint of a smile when her jaw drops looking back at him. She goes into spin mode as she tries to explain she was going home, and they are private people. She gets uncomfortable with his perusal of her. He admits to watching her mouth. He kisses her and then announces that he is going downstairs to make her a great breakfast because she is a fascinating woman. Later he calls her down to breakfast, she comes down in his shirt and he tells her she looks good in it. Suggests she wear it to court with her sensible shoes. Clearly uncomfortable with still being there for breakfast she asks for the protocol. He asks her if she likes him and they have a little joke about her tolerating her. Someone knocks and she goes to leave, “What if it is Carly?” He reassures her and goes to answer the door. It’s Kristina looking for her sister. She spots her sister in Sonny’s shirt, and Sonny gives them a minute to go make some coffee. Kristina tells her that it looks like she had a wonderful evening, not mortified like Alexis thinks. Kristina leaves telling her to have fun. Alexis is amazed at how good the food is. She then analyzes how he manages in the kitchen, he asks her if she analyzes everything and she simply answers, “yes.” She goes to bite a strawberry and Sonny stops her cold by telling her there is nothing sexier than a woman biting into a strawberry. Finally dressed in her own clothes, he asks her again if she is okay? Alexis asks what happens next.

Zander starts pounding on the door. Zander starts ranting about Carly and how she drives a sport coupe and it going off a cliff. Zander tells Sonny about Carly getting her license etc. Sonny questions Zander on why he believes that it was Carly's car that went into the lake. Zander is hesitant to explain to Sonny about how upset Carly was last night when she left his place. Sonny orders Zander to keep looking for Carly and contact him as soon as he knows something. After Zander leaves, Alexis offers to help by making calls to see what she can find out. Sonny, apparently in denial, claims there is no need as he is sure Carly is fine, then calmly goes to make cappuccino. Zander returns to Kelly's apparently having been unable to find Carly. He rushes up to Jax and Bobbie asking them if they have seen her. Bobbie starts to get worried as Jax had said Carly missed an appointment with him that morning. Jax lies to cover so as not to worry Bobbie saying he got the dates mixed up, that he is due to meet with Carly the next day. He and Zander go outside to discuss Carly's disappearance. Zander tells him he suspects Carly's car went off a cliff. They head to the PD to get info on the car that went off the cliff. They tell Mac that they think it might be Carly's car. One of the divers comes in and has a plate number. Jax pushes Mac to get more people on the search, hoping that Carly may have been thrown clear and taken away in the current and wants to cover every possibility. He offers to personally underwrite the search. Scotty overhears and asks if Bobbie knows yet? He reluctantly volunteers to tell Bobbie the bad news when Jax confirms that she has no idea Carly has had an accident. Jax tries to get Zander to settle down and quite telling Mac that he isn't doing his job. Zander is just desperate to find Carly. He feels so responsible for the accident that he didn't keep her safe. Zander kicks himself for teaching her how to drive, for what happened last night for what she saw, if only one thing had been different (meaning that if he hadn't taught her how to drive, if she hadn't seen Sonny & Alexis together, if only he hadn't thrown her out when she was upset).

Courtney shows up at the penthouse with Sonny favorite pastries to wish her brother a happy birthday. Sonny acts surprised to learn she is back from her honeymoon, but is clearly touched that she knows it’s his birthday. As they sit around drinking coffee Courtney expresses the belief that she is like an ambassador bringing peace between her husband and her brother, because they both love her, just like they both love Michael. Sonny immediately goes cold and expresses the thought that AJ sent her. Courtney’s claims that she is acting by herself in an effort to get to know her nephew/stepson are cut short when the phone rings. Sonny answers to hear Zander tell him that the license plates on the car at the bottom of the lake are a match for Carly’s vanity plates…CC101…

After Zander’s upsetting news, Sonny starts to rush out of the penthouse. Courtney tries to stop him, but Sonny harshly tells her to tell AJ there will never be a trade. Pronouncing that that is the end of the subject Sonny hurries off. Zander disses the police department for not doing enough to find Carly. He says the rescue effort is a joke. Mac tells him to cool off or he will be waiting for news in a cell.

At the park, Bobbie is at the park with Michael. Scott shows up and is obviously upset. Bobbie warns him that if he is there to continue berating Carly he can forget it. As Scott suggests they find someone to watch Michael while they talk, Sonny shows up. Sonny distracts the little boy with a talk and an ice cream while Scott gives Bobbie the bad news. The car that went over the bluff has been identified as Carly’s, but they don't yet know if she was inside so there is still hope that she is alive. Later, Scott takes Michael to the swings to give Bobbie and Sonny a chance to talk. Bobbie immediately lashes out at Sonny with a harsh accusation that he wasn't there for Carly, that he didn't keep his vows. She just as quickly apologizes when she see that Sonny is also very upset. Sonny tries to comfort her by reminding her that Carly is fighter and wouldn’t give up easily. He also cautions Bobbie that AJ may make a play for Michael in light of Carly's accident. Zander shows up at the park to let Sonny know they are bringing up the car. They all head to the accident site.

Down at the bluff, the recovery unit brings up the car. Jax stands at the rail and watches as the sounds of a helicopter are heard over head and the search lights swivel around. Jax and Sonny watch as the police slowly winch Carly's car out of the lake. Jax tells him it was so deep and dark that they haven't been able to see inside yet. Sonny says, "Carly can't be dead". Sonny wants to know what Carly was doing behind the wheel of a car since she was afraid to drive. As Scott & Bobbie arrive, Zander admits to Sonny that he taught Carly to drive. Sonny lashes out at Zander and questions why he would do such a thing. Jax overhears and informs Sonny that Carly wanted to be independent. Zander takes all the blame saying if he hadn't taught her to drive it the accident wouldn't have happened. Detective Capelli informs those gathered that the car was empty and the drivers side window was down which leads them to hope that Carly escaped the car and is alive-somewhere. Later, the detective cautions Bobbie that Carly's survival is still very much in doubt because of the freezing water, and the car was down 80 feet. The cop says the chances of her making it up from that depth is not likely.

Sonny is furious and insists she is alive. He wants them to check every house, to search every inch of the lake. Sonny calls Alexis and tells her there is hope as Carly wasn't inside the car. Alexis rushes to his side at the accident site. Scott wants to take Bobbie home. She wants to talk to the police to make sure that they know that she could be suffering from hypothermia and she wants to make sure they are searching to recovery her alive not just searching for a body. Sonny calls and puts his people on it to search for Carly by checking hospitals. Sonny apologizes to Zander for his harsh words (without actually saying the words “I’m Sorry” though). He tells Zander he went off on him for being the only one standing there and it didn't really have anything to do with Zander teaching Carly to drive. Zander still blames himself for Carly’s accident. Following scenes set to mournful music: Bobbie sadly looks out onto the lake as Scott stands by her side, then leads her away from the site, Alexis shows up and watches Sonny from a distance. When he feels her gaze and looks up, she moves to stand next to him at the railing. She offers comfort and encouragement by resting her hand gently on his as they both intently look out over the bluff.

Sonny tells Alexis about his people searching for Carly. Bobbie says she has put the word out at the hospital but she is going to go home in case Carly tries to reach her there. Scott tells Alexis that Sonny and Bobbie are grasping at every possibility but he doesn't think the chances aren't too good. He thinks they are holding onto false hope. Upstairs at the brownstone, Michael asks Liz why his mommie hasn't called him. He wants to call her. They tell him how busy she is. He says she wouldn't be too busy for him that she would talk to him.

Downstairs Luke, Roy, Felicia have gathered. Bobbie arrives home to find them there. They are overly solicitous with offerings of food, drink, can they take her coat? Bobbie snaps at everyone gathered as they try to console her. She tells them to stop it or get out of her house. It isn't a wake and she doesn't want mourners in her house! Luke says no one said she was dead. But Bobbie says that is what they are all thinking as she could feel it the second she walked in the door. She says she will be fine as soon as the funeral procession passes. Luke says they are just concerned about her, Michael, and Carly. Bobbie finally breaks down and cries on Luke's shoulder but insists that her daughter is still alive and she will be coming home.

Later, Roy comes in and says they can't find Michael. Everyone is out searching for him. Felicia, Roy, and Maxie head out to look for him. Bobbie grabs Michael's jacket and runs outside but misses Felicia who has taken off. Nik is outside. He tells her that Lucky is checking the route to Carly's house in case Michael went there. Nik heads off to check the rest of the neighborhood. Sonny shows up to visit Michael and Bobbie has to tell him that Michael is missing. She says either he wanted to go home or AJ took him. Sonny decides to pay his brother-in-law a visit. Luke is in the park with Nik calling for Michael when he suddenly calls out to Luke and appears from behind the bushes. Luke picks up the boy and rushes him home to Bobbie. Meanwhile, Sonny arrives at the Q's and warns A.J. not to use Carly’s accident to try to get his hands back on Michael. Courtney then asks Sonny about his order to have A.J. killed. Despite the fact that Sonny denies there is a hit, an angry Courtney chooses to believe A.J. She calls Sonny a hypocrite. Sonny receives a phone call from Bobbie that Michael has been found. Sonny leaves but before he goes he tells Courtney that he meant what he said to her on her wedding day-all he wants is for her to be happy.

Zander is at the accident site, he wants to go down to the shore and search. The new cop tells him if he does he will be interfering with the search and rescue effort. Sonny rushes over after Bobbie calls him to report Michael is safe. They both give Michael stern warnings not to ever leave the house alone again and are stunned when the little boy announces he saw Carly. Michael claims he saw Carly in the back yard the night before. She told him everything was okay and he should stay with Bobbie. He forgot to tell her something, so he went to the park looking for her. Jax comes in, and Bobbie hugs him with the wonderful news that Carly is alive! Jax appears skeptical of Michael’s story but acts happy for Bobbie’s sake. Later, after Sonny has taken Michael upstairs, Jax questions Bobbie further about Carly’s supposed visit. Why would she leave without letting you know she’s all right? He asks. Bobbie says she could have a head injury or post traumatic stress and be confused. Or she could be upset about something and is cooling off somewhere, Sonny adds, as he comes into the room. She’ll show up eventually, he says. Bobbie leaves the room, determined that they will find her daughter alive. Jax tells Sonny he’s not facing the truth. Sonny insists this isn’t Brenda, Carly is not dead. Later, after Jax has left, Bobbie starts to doubt Michael’s story, but Sonny assures her he will find Carly. Taggert stops in on his way to his apartment in the brownstone to tell them the police have found nothing new. Bobbie informs him that Michael saw Carly. Taggert comments that maybe he should have paid more attention to the tip like Alexis suggested. What tip, Sonny wants to know.

Following up on the lead she swiped from the police station, Alexis enters a building and spots a blonde. Carly? she asks. The woman turns around. It’s not Carly but a lady with an attitude who leaves quickly. Alexis tries to do the same but is stopped by some skinhead who threatens her. Then Sonny shows up and the punk gets all apologetic. Sonny tells him to be on the lookout for Carly, and the guy scurries off. Alexis defends what she did by explaining that Taggert wasn’t going to follow up on the lead. Sonny is still upset. I’m going through a lot right now, he says, and I can’t lose you, too. He is upset when he finds Alexis in a seedy section looking for Carly. He reprimands her, but she says, "I am with you through this whole ordeal". Back at the penthouse, she stumbles on the long lost card that Michael had sent to Sonny for his Birthday. Sonny says, "She must have dropped this while we were together." A dumbfounded Alexis says, "She was here." Sonny doesn’t want to accept that Carly saw him with Alexis and denies that it’s a possibility. He leaves abruptly leaving behind an extremely affected Alexis.

Sonny shows up at Zander’s and questions him about the night of Carly's car crash. Zander is angry and upset but hesitant to reveal anything. He says she came there at 3:00 am to play pool. Sonny isn't buying it, he suspects that she saw him with Alexis. Sonny is angry and continues to press, Zander finally confesses that Carly left upset because he kicked her out of his bed. Amazingly Sonny holds his temper (barely) and continues to question Zander about Carly’s actions that night. Zander finally comes clean about his attraction to Carly, the kiss Carly told Sonny about and the incident the night of Carly’s accident. Zander says that Sonny put them together night and day, what did Sonny think that Zander was blind? Struggling to hold back his emotions, Sonny presses Zander for more details and Zander finally confirms that Carly saw Sonny and Alexis is bed together before she came to him. Sonny listens to Zander tells him how Carly saw him and Alexis in bed together then walks out without a word. Zander starts ripping the covers off of his bed and kicking the mattress in a fit of frustration and anger. Alexis shows up at the door and Zander tells her what Carly saw. He claims his share of the blame. Alexis tries to tell him it is not his fault and in his bitter anger he lashes out verbally at her telling her to get out and find Sonny so she can celebrate by taking Sonny back to bed. She walks out and is visibly shaken by the whole encounter.

Sonny is back at his apartment and imagines Carly walking up the steps to his room. Tracing her footsteps, he looks in his bedroom door and sees the reflection of his bed in the mirror. He sees himself and Alexis on the bed as seen through Carly's eyes. He hears her and Michael wishing him a happy birthday and Carly saying "I love you more than my life." Before he can get too upset, Benny walks in to talk some business. He expresses concern that Sonny's people are not too happy with the way he is handling things. Sonny makes it clear that his people need to stop sharing their opinions and just do what they are paid to do. He also sends one of his men off to find out how the police found out about the aborted hit on A.J. He shares with Benny how strong a survivor Carly is and is adamant that she is alive. After Benny leaves however, Sonny sits defeated on the couch and it is clear that he has his doubts. Later, Sonny is standing at the scene of the accident looking out towards the water when Alexis steps out of the shadows. They stand apart (emotionally it seems, as well as physically) and just stare at each other. The hurt in both of their eyes is very evident as the truth really starts to sink in. Alexis and Sonny both admit that they have talked to Zander and realize that Carly caught them together. Sonny blames himself, worries about AJ and what he’ll do. Sonny admits aloud that Carly is dead. Sonny continues blaming himself, despite Alexis trying to reassure him that it was just a horrible coincidence, an accident, an unfortunate turn of events. Sonny admits that he had basically been stringing Carly along for nearly a year and this was the culmination of those events. A diver finds a shoe and Sonny confirms it is indeed Carly’s. Sonny and Alexis end the night with him dropping her off at her place and ending up alone in their thoughts.

Sonny lets himself into Carly’s house and is looking wistfully around when he hears a noise upstairs. He immediately thinks it’s Carly and calls out to her. However, it’s only Bobbie, Michael and Leticia who have come over to pick-up some of Michael things. While Bobbie goes off to pack a lunch to take to the park, Sonny questions Michael more closely about his encounter with Carly in Bobbie’s back yard. It is revealed that Michael isn’t very clear about that night except for one thing, that Carly was wearing a crown when he saw her. Sonny is forced to realize that Michael may have dreamt or imagined the whole thing. After getting Leticia and Michael to go ahead to the park, Sonny says to Bobbie that there is a very real possibility that Carly is dead.
