Sonny & Carly #18  October 25 - December 31, 2002

Carly tells Bobbie about Jason's marriage, and how Jason married Brenda to keep her away from Sonny. Bobbie is not happy that Jason is sacrificing himself by settling for Brenda when he cares for Courtney. Dr. Bond sees Carly and reminds her she has an appointment the next day for fertility injections. Sonny approaches and asks why Carly is there. Carly admits to eavesdropping through some of Sonny and Jax's conversation. They leave for home. Skye arrives and Bobbie tells her to relax a few minutes because Skye looks exhausted. Bobbie feels the only reason Jax is interested in Brenda is the hopelessness of their respective situations, and that Jax really loves Skye. Carly and Sonny snuggle in the limo on the way home. Sonny tells the driver to raise the divider and to drive around the lake until he tells him to stop. Afterwards, Sonny and Carly reminisce about their romance.

Carly and Jason think they are talking in private down the hall, but Sonny is eavesdropping around the corner. Jason informs the always stylishly dressed Carly that Brenda moved into his penthouse. While Carly says she is grateful they’re married because she doesn’t have to consider Brenda a threat anymore, she tells Jason that Brenda will only make him miserable. Rolling her eyes, she asks if they consummated the marriage, but Sonny interrupts, telling Carly in a joking manner to back off. Soon after, Alcazar tells Jason he should have killed him when he had the chance. Brenda and Sonny walk in and Alcazar warns the trio that he’ll be set free.

Carly warns Alexis that is she takes the stand she will finally have to tell the truth about her baby. Irate, Alexis tells Carly that Sonny and Alcazar are responsible for Kristina’s death. Carly tells Alexis that her sister’s blood is her own fault because the only reason Kristina went to the warehouse was to inform Sonny about the truth about Alexis' baby! . The courtroom begins to fill. Felicia asks Sonny about Roy and he reports he is well in Miami.

As the trial begins, Monica testifies about being forced to remove Alcazar's bullet and tells about the threats made against her life. Felicia testifies that Alcazar first kidnapped her children and then held Felicia prisoner in order to force Roy to kill Sonny. Taggert testifies that whomever set off the detonator to blow up the warehouse had to be within sight of the warehouse and would have known that Kristina Cassadine had entered the warehouse. Zander testifies that Alcazar threatened to kill Zander because Zander had seen Brenda aboard Alcazar's yacht. Brenda testifies about Alcazar shooting Jax, when Jax was not armed and after Alcazar had promised Brenda he would spare Jax. As Scott is summing up the Prosecution's case against Alcazar, a government official sends an urgent message to Scott and calls Scott out of the Courtroom. In the hallway outside, the official hands Scott a sheaf of documents. When Scott returns to the Courtroom, Sonny comments that it looks like Alcazar called in a favor. Scott tells the Judge that the State will be dropping all charges against Alcazar. When the Judge admonishes Scott for his sudden change of heart, Scott hands the documents to the Judge. When the Judge reads the documents, he announces that his hands are tied and he must dismiss all charges against Alcazar. As the stunned Courtroom watches, Luis Alcazar is released and begins to walk out of the Courtroom. Brenda attacks Alcazar as he saunters past her on his way out of the Courtroom. In the hallway outside, reporters mob Scott and demand to know why Scott suddenly dropped charges against Alcazar. Scott replies that it is a Government issue that Scott is not at liberty to discuss, and concludes by pointing out that the District Attorney's hands are tied in this matter. Devastated, Alexis interrupts and says it is Scotty’s job to see that justice is served and that Alcazar must be punished for what he did. As Alcazar shoves past the throng of reporters, someone hands him a note that states: "You are a dead man.' Alcazar rushes up to Scott and thrusts the note at Scott, demanding a police escort out of the building. Scott at first brushes it off but, when Scott sees the note, Scott announces that someone has threatened Alcazar's life, but there is no sympathy from the bystanders! Everyone stands in the hallway looking at Alcazar with a mixture of shock, fear, and rage.

On Halloween, Brenda searches for Jason's gun so she can go after Alcazar and kill him herself. Jason catches her trying to break into gun case. Sonny and Carly came over with Michael in his firman costume to get candy from Jason. Carly is dressed in a sexy black witches costume, Sonny being Sonny remains in his traditional suit. They walk in and find Jason with his arms around Brenda. At a Halloween party at the club, Alcazar taunts the other guests he knows. Sonny and Carly show up at the party. Alcazar takes his mask off and smirks at Sonny. Sonny approaches him and threatens him. Monica and Alan ask Sonny if he had anything or knew about Alcazar's acquittal ahead of time or had anything to do with it. Sonny evades their questions when he sees a man that looks like Alcazar dancing with Carly. He grabs the guy and tells him to stay away from his family and that he will kill him if he goes near them. He grabs the mask off and realizes it isn't Alcazar. Sonny concludes that Alcazar left the party and is headed for Brenda. Sonny orders a guard to check on Brenda at Jason's Penthouse apartment. While this is going on, Brenda is giving candy to the trick-or-treaters and then mistakenly opens the door to find Alcazar who takes his mask off. He grabs for her and tries to barge his way inside. Brenda fights to get him out of the penthouse. Alcazar pushes his way in and reminds Brenda that she wanted to spare her loved ones the pain of watching her die from her mother's disease. However, when Sonny's guard arrives, Brenda tells him that she is fine and does not expose that Alcazar is there with her. Back at the party, Carly tells Sonny that she knows he is concerned about Brenda and Carly insists that Sonny return to the Penthouse to check on Brenda himself.

As Alcazar tells Brenda that he will still take care of her, with no strings attached, Sonny barges in with two of his men and orders them: "Take him out! Kill him!' But Brenda orders Sonny to not kill anyone for her! Brenda tells Sonny that she wants no more violence and insists that Sonny should either call the police or let Alcazar go.After Max and Marco take Alcazar away, Brenda warns Sonny to never barge into her apartment again and order someone killed in front of her!

As Edward, dressed as Benjamin Franklin, taunts Carly at Club 101 that her husband is already playing around with Jason's new wife Brenda, Carly assures Edward that Sonny is over Brenda. However, at the same time, Brenda and Sonny are standing in Jason's apartment, arguing about Brenda's request to spare Alcazar's life! Alcazar approaches Carly outside Club101 and suggests that Alcazar could solve all of Carly's problems with Carly's husband'sreturned ex if Carly would just help the arms dealer out a little bit. Brenda and Sonny are still arguing by the time that Skye arrives at the penthouse and Skye overhears Brenda tell Sonny that Brenda plans to rescue Jax from that lying idiot that Jax married. Skye angrily confronts Brenda at the penthouse and informs Brenda that Skye and Jax are back in bed together and that Skye is confident that the promises Jax made to Skye at their wedding are a sacred trust with Jax.

Carly arrives home at the Penthouse and finally confesses to Sonny that Alcazar waylaid Carly outside Club 101 and asked for Carly's help in convincing Brendato leave Port Charles with Alcazar. Sonny is immediately upset that Alcazar set Sonny up by using Sonny's concern about Brenda to distract Sonny long enough for Alcazar to get to Sonny's wife. Skye meets with Alcazar and tells him that she is willing to cooperate in convincing Brenda to leave Port Charles with Alcazar, whatever he needs. The next day at Club 101, Skye tells Alcazar that he isn't moving fast enough to get rid of Brenda. Skye tells Alcazar that if he doesn't get her out of town now, Skye will force her out of town. Alcazar wants Skye to set up a private meeting with Brenda so he has access to her. When Brenda shows up for her meeting with Skye, instead she finds Alcazar waiting for her. Two of Alcazar's men grab Brenda and forcibly remove her from the club. Skye watches on in shock as she watches Alcazar and his goons kidnap Brenda.

Skye beats on Jason's door, urgently calling to him that Alcazar has kidnapped Brenda. When Carly steps out into the hall to shut Skye up, Skye runs to Sonny to tell Sonny that Brenda has been kidnapped. Carly tells Sonny that maybe Alcazar would be headed to Paris, since Alcazar had told Carly that he had a private jet waiting to take Brenda to Paris if Carly would cooperate in helping Alcazar to convince Brenda to leave with him. Sonny leaves right away for the airport to prevent Alcazar's jet from taking off. Meanwhile, on board Alcazar's private jet, Brenda pretends to come on to Alcazar to distract him. Sonny arrives at the airport, pushes past the guard and boards Alcazar's plane, just as Alcazar slaps handcuffs onto Brenda. Alcazar's plane takes off with Alcazar in the cockpit and Sonny slips out of hiding to let Brenda know that he is aboard, but did not bring his gun with him. As Sonny gets Brenda's handcuffs loose, Alcazar re-emerges from the cockpit and announces that the plane is on auto-pilot and Brenda and Sonny will need Alcazar to land. Alcazar threatens to kill Sonny and Sonny challenges Alcazar to land the plane and go at each other, one-on-one. But the plane suddenly hits unexpected turbulence and Alcazar rushes back to the cockpit. When Alcazar is gone, Sonny informs Brenda that he believes Alcazar took off before the plane had finished refueling. At that moment, the plane begins to rock and Alcazar orders Brenda to put on her seat belt.

Jason finds out from Carly that Brenda was kidnapped by Alcazar at Club 101 and that Sonny went to go rescue her by finding Alcazar's private jet and trying to get aboard it. Jason gets Sonny's men on it to investigate. He finds out that Alcazar is piloting his own plane and that Sonny managed to get on board the plane and that it took off and that they are headed to Venezuela. Carly thinks the worse and lets her insecurities about Brenda resurface. Jason plans to head on a private plane to follow them there and that Sonny's contacts and men in South America will be waiting to help if necessary. Carly insists on going with him but he tells her to stay. She sneaks aboard the plane Jason charted. Jason isn't too happy with her but realizes it is too late to stop her from accompanying him. She tells him that she is afraid that Brenda is going to take Sonny away from her with her damsel in distress routine again. Jason tries to reassure her that Sonny doesn't love Brenda anymore and that what he has with Carly is the right thing and he won't give it up for Brenda. Carly plans to fight for Sonny by being there with Jason when they find Brenda and Sonny. She tells them she has a gut feeling that something is very wrong now with Sonny and Brenda. A plane is seen that looks like it crashed.

Carly and Jason arrive in Venezuela and, when Jason makes contact with an associate, Jason is surprised to learn that Alcazar's plane went off the radar somewhere in the Caribbean. As Carly and Jason try to get a fix on where Alcazar's plane MIGHT have landed if it was in trouble, they are surprised when they are suddenly arrested by the local police. When Jason and Carly arrive at prison, they are shocked to learn that the reason why they have been arrested is because they are regarded as enemies of Alcazar who has a a lot of pull in that particular area. Jason and Carly agree to pay the local magistrate whatever it will take for their release.

Sonny regains consciousness in Alcazar's crashed plane, and tries to revive Brenda. When Sonny finally revives Brenda, she demands that he get her medication for her from the plane to help get rid of her headache. Sonny leaves Brenda alone and returns to the plane. Sonny soon returns with some food from the downed plane to snack on and Brenda insists that she knows how to start a fire. As Brenda and Sonny discuss measures they might take in order to survive their crash, they also begin to discuss their past together and begin to take steps to mend their friendship. As Sonny and Brenda start to become comfortable for the night, Alcazar watches them from a distance and communicates with an associate that Alcazar's plan is for Sonny to die on the island!

As Alcazar communicates with some of his men to pick him and Brenda up and get rid of Sonny, Sonny slugs Alcazar from behind. After Sonny slugs Alcazar and ties him up, Sonny uses Alcazar's phone to try to call for help, but the battery goes dead before Sonny can complete his message. Sonny tries to get Brenda to leave Sonny alone with Alcazar and Alcazar informs Brenda that that is because Sonny plans to execute Alcazar in the crazy hope that Alcazar's men will NOT carry out Alcazar's orders once they learn that their boss is dead. As Alcazar reminds Brenda of his love for her, Brenda surprises Sonny when she suddenly grabs the gun. Brenda threatens to kill Alcazar herself, but can't bring herself to pull the trigger. When Alcazar sees Brenda wavering, Alcazar urges Brenda to toss the gun into the jungle, implying that she is NOT acting like herself and that it is probably just her disease that is talking. Brenda fires into the air, then runs away, still clutching the gun. Sonny runs after her. Sonny catches up to Brenda and convinces her that she is not going crazy and that Alcazar is just preying on her fears. Still holding the gun, Brenda admits that she has hurt everyone she ever loved. Brenda suddenly points the gun at herself and suggests that she could end it all right there. Sonny distracts Brenda with a kiss and takes the gun away from her as Brenda relaxes in his arms.

In the prison in Venezuela, Jason promises Carly that he will get her out of their predicament but he does not know how yet! A guard arrives and informs Jason and Carly that they are going to be executed. When Carly offers a bigger bribe, the warden informs his prisoners that Alcazar is too powerful for him to even consider crossing the arms dealer. Carly and Jason are plotting an escape when the warden returns and Carly threatens the warden with reprisals from Sonny Corinthos if any harm comes to either her or Jason. But the warden just laughs and informs Carly that Sonny will be dead soon. As Carly threatens the warden that Sonny Corinthos will get them all, a prisoner in a nearby cell suddenly perks up his ears at the mention of Sonny's name. As the Venezuelan police drive Jason and Carly to a deserted spot in a Jeep to execute them, Jason surprises one of the guards when he hits him and Carly suddenly grabs a crowbar from under the seat and slugs the other guard. Jason and Carly make a getaway in the police Jeep. Jason and Carly fly to Tortola to get a boat to search the surrounding islands for Sonny and Brenda. Carly wonders if Brenda would finally be happy if Sonny ends up dead from Brenda's latest escapade. However, Jason assures Carly that they WILL find Sonny, Sonny will be fine and Sonny will be returning home with Carly, no matter what Brenda might do to wind Sonny around her little finger while they are alone in the jungle.

Jason and Carly are on their way to the island Sonny and Brenda are stranded by. Carly insists to Jason that she will continue to fight for Sonny. Jason and Carly come to the bar looking to rent the boat that is tied up on the docks. Jason tries to persuade the owener, Creed to rent it out to him for quite a sum of money. He refuses to rent it for any amount of money. Jason then offers to gamble for it with cards. Creed rejects that offer too and instead proposes a drinking game. Only Carly has to do the drinking. Jason offers a larger sum of money so Carly won't have to put herself through this. Carly convinces Jason that she's willing to do this and that she can do this and win. They begin....Carly doesn't get off to a promising start after she starts wheezing after only one,yet she continues to take the next shot. She begins talking to Creed about her life back in Florida and how she ended up where she is now, while Jason realizes that this is a distraction. He attempts to grab the keys to the boat, but a knife flying right past his head into the wall stops him from picking up the keys. Creed warns him that he has to play by the rules.

Sonny and Brenda break away from their kiss and Sonny tells her that she does indeed hace things to live for. Brenda and Sonny return to the crash site only to find that Alcazar is gone. Alcazar is lurking in the bushes pointing a flare gun at Sonny. He fires only to miss and hit the plane, causing the fuel tanks to ignite in a firey explosion. Brenda and Sonny are thrown to the ground. Brenda and Sonny walk away from the balze and realize that the fire may alert someone to their whereabouts. Alcazar comes up from behind Brenda and grabs her, holding the flare gun to her, demandig that Sonny drop his gun or she's dead.

Carly is very drunk..very drunk...As she continues to take shots she begins to explain to Creed why she really wants his boat. She begins to describe how she's gonna find the "viper" a.k.a Brenda, her husband is with, and how she's gonna get rid of her "I'm gonna grab her by this big brown mess of hair she has, i'm gonna yank her back, i'm gonna knock her down...and i'm gonna feed her to the sharks!" Creed finally passes out and Jason carries Carly out of the bar, off to find Sonny. Carly continues her drunken ranting while Jason straps a life vest on her. She begins to flirt with him, telling him that he's hot and that he was a wonder in bed. Jaosn tries to sober her up. Jason and Carly are searching, well...Jason is searching, Carly's drunk...Carly goes on about how Jason reminds her of a Roman statue..."You remind me of one of those naked one's with the bulging muscles..." Jason spots the fire from the plane.

Alcazar continues threatening Brenda, obviously not thinking too much of the 'love' that the two had once shared. Sonny is forced into dropping the gun, and Brenda manages to break away from him. While Sonny and Alcazar wrestle over the gun, Brenda hears the sound of the boat coming toward them and she runs toward the shore, only to encounter...quicksand...not good... As Sonny and Alcazar confront each other in front of the burning plane, Sonny challenges Alcazar to go ahead and kill Sonny. However, Jason suddenly appears and informs Alcazar that the arms dealer now has two adversaries to contend with. Sonny and Jason quickly subdue Alcazar. Meanwhile, Brenda struggles in the quicksand and begins to call for help. Brenda is disappointed when it turns out to be Carly who comes to her rescue! While Carly and Brenda scream insults at one another, Carly tries to hand a branch to Brenda. But, when Brenda grabs the branch, she pulls Carly into the quicksand with her! As Carly and Brenda struggle together in the quicksand, hurling insults at each other, Sonny and Jason arrive and rescue their respective wives. After Jason and Sonny rescue Brenda and Carly, Carly discreetly tries to learn if Alcazar was with Sonny and Brenda all the time or if Brenda and Sonny had spent time alone together on the island. But Sonny waves away Carly's questions as being unimportant now. Sonny, Brenda, Carly and Jason fly Alcazar back to the mainland, Brenda thanks Carly for saving her life. As Alcazar begins to needle Carly about her husband running off to rescue another woman, Jason gets up and puts some duct tape over Alcazar's mouth.

Brenda runs into Sonny on the docks. Sonny had just left his own penthouse after dealing with a suspicious Carly who questioned him non stop about what happened with Brenda in the plane crash with Alcazar. He told her not to listen to Alcazar since he is not trustworthy when it comes to his obsession with Brenda. Sonny tells Brenda to let Jason help her when she tells him that her symptoms are getting worse and wants to go back to Europe now. Sonny is disappointed to see her leave again. They reminisce about when they first met, which is in the same place they are talking on the docks. Brenda tells him she is sorry for everything she did to hurt him and forgives him for whatever he has done to her in the past. She tells him to "stay happy, and be blessed." Sonny gives her a hug goodbye. He returns to the penthouse in a quiet mood. Carly asks him where he went off to. Sonny tells her he ran into Brenda on the docks and that she told him that she was leaving Port Charles and that her symptoms are worse and is heading back to Europe with Jason's help. He tells her that he realized when Brenda wished him to be happy that he really is blessed with having her and Michael and that he loves her above all else. Carly is touched. Meanwhile, a maid at the Port Charles Hotel finds Alcazar tied up in a chair in his hotel room. She screams and calls the police when she sees him there all bruised up with tape on his mouth. She calls the police who rush over to investigate. Alcazar refuses to press charges against anyone and they let it go and leave. Skye shows up to see him. He accuses her of telling Sonny where he went with Brenda and ruining the plans they made. Skye tells him that she also told Jax that Brenda isn't really dying after all and that Jax will probably tell her and rush into her arms as well. Alcazar disagrees with her and tells her that Brenda seemed more interested in Sonny when they crashed in the plane and that she really doesn't have anything to worry about with Jax. Alcazar tells her she needs to come up with a way to bring Brenda back to Sonny if she plans to get Jax back.

Alcazar goes to GH and runs into Alexis who tries to avoid him. He picks up her glove, she dropped on the floor and hands it to her. She snaps it away from him and tells him it is her sister's glove. Alcazar stops her from getting on the elevator and tells her that he was not convicted of killing Kristina and she better have real evidence if she ever thinks she can convict him of it. Alexis informs him that she will do everything in her power to make him pay for killing her sister even if it means killing him herself. He tells her that her sister's death is of no consequence to him now or even then. Jason comes off the elevator and throws Alcazar against the wall, demanding to know where he took Brenda now. Alcazar pleads ignorance. Alexis pulls Jason away from Alcazar.

Skye pays Sonny and Carly a visit and informs them that Alcazar bribed the doctors in Switzerland to lie to Brenda about her illness and that Brenda isn't really dying after all. When Sonny tells Skye that Brenda still has headaches and nightmares, Skye agrees that Brenda may very well be crazy but Brenda does not suffer from her mother's inherited mental illness. Brenda visits Lily's grave and tells her about her illness and what is going on in her life. Jax finds her there and thinks she went there to kill herself. Brenda tells him that she isn't going to do anything and that she doesn't want to die. Jax tells her she won't be and that she isn't going to die. Brenda looks at him quizzically. Jason calls Sonny to report to Sonny that Brenda is with Jax at Lily's grave and that Brenda is not dying. Sonny confirms that Sonny and Carly have already learned that Alcazar bribed Brenda's doctors to lie about her illness. Sonny agrees to meet Jason on the docks. After Sonny leaves to meet Jason, Carly tells Skye point blank that Carly is wise to Skye's plan to save Skye's marriage to Jax by pitching a now-well Brenda into Sonny's lap. When Sonny meets with Jason, Jason reports that Brenda had apparently learned that she was not really ill when she was with Jax. After Sonny leaves Jason, Sonny goes to Lily's grave, where Sonny apologizes to Lily for not bringing any flowers lately and Sonny remembers that loving Brenda nearly destroyed his life once. Sonny vows that he will not make that same mistake twice. Carly angers Skye by pointing out that Carly believes that Jax and Brenda are probably already in bed together, so Skye's little trick of trying to push Brenda in Sonny's direction is going to be too little, too late when it comes to saving Skye's marriage. Skye rushes out to see for herself. After Sonny speaks to Lily, he returns to the Penthouse and tells Carly that he loves her. As Jax and Brenda begin to make out in front of the roaring fire at the cottage, Skye arrives on the porch and sees them embracing.

Carly is surprised Sonny is back home with her. She expected him to be with Brenda. He says he wanted to be home with her. She admits she is happy he is home, but wonders why. Sonny says he went to Lily’s grave to find Brenda, but she was gone already. He admits to Carly that, although he knew where Brenda would be, he didn’t go after her and instead reflected on what his life used to be compared to what it is now, with her. His life used to be silent, dark, alone, full of memories. With her in his life, she made his penthouse into a home and made him happy. Carly, never satisfied, wonders if that is what he wanted or was it just the best he could do without Brenda. He says he wants to be with her, with Carly. She asks again, why? Sonny pours himself a drink and says he doesn’t want Brenda. Carly doubts it because he ran out of the house, in front of Skye, to find out how Brenda was doing. Sonny continues to try to convince Carly. She says she knows that Brenda set his heart on fire and wonders if she does that to him now. He takes her in his arms, looks her in the eye and says, “You always set my heart on…” Knock knock knock. They are interrupted by Jason at the door. Jason deliver the latest news on AJ and Courtney and Sonny is livid after hearing what AJ did this time and cannot believe Jason left them alone and didn’t pummel AJ. Sonny finds out where AJ and Courtney were and goes to find them. With Sonny gone, Carly starts in about Courtney and Jason liking each other. He tells her to drop it, but she won’t. Jason insists he was only trying to help Sonny’s little sister. He finally confesses to her: “I like Courtney. She’s a nice person.” Carly insists his eyes light up when he says that. Jason leaves to go pack up Brenda’s things and Carly follows him into the hall, trying to get him to admit that he likes Courtney. He suggests she is just trying to annoy him and points out that it is working. Carly says the old Jason, her friend Jason, would just admit the truth, that he likes Courtney. “Why can’t you just admit that you’re liking Courtney?” Carly asks as Courtney gets off the elevator and stands behind Carly, hearing all of this.

On the Elm Street Pier, Sonny runs into Brenda. He asks if she has a minute and she laughs, “Actually I do.” He tells her how great it is that she is going to live. He wonders if she is going to stay in Port Charles, but she hasn’t made any decisions yet. She thinks about it for a second and says she thinks she will be staying there. He asks if she will be picking up where she left off. Brenda admits she doesn’t know what her plans are, but she just wants to be happy and build a home somewhere. He wishes her luck and they say good-bye. As she is leaving, Sonny stops her and says he has some words for her as a friend: “It’s never going to work out. You’re never going to be happy with Jax.” Sonny tells Brenda that she'll never be completely happy with Jax. Something will always be in the way.

Courtney arrives just in time to hear Carly try to pry out of Jason that he likes Courtney in a very un-brother-in-law way. Carly leaves the two "lovebirds" alone. Jason then walks toward Carly's door, knowing fully well that she was listening and asks hif she got all that. She only complains that Jason speaks to damn low so she couldn't really hear anything. He asks for her help in packing Brenda's things. He doesn't want to touch them. Brenda arrives to find that Jason is hovering over her packed bags..outside the door...ready to leave...Carly comes out with the last bag urging Brenda to 'go away' in that sarcastic/friendly tone. Jason takes his gun back from Brenda and asks her how she wants to go about ending their marriage. She sincerely thanks him for keeping his promise to take care of her and take her away..but "I still don't like you" Jason responds "That's good."

Sonny and Alcazar some face to face on the docks. Sonny tells him that he's gona take him out. Maybe not him personally, but he's gonna have it done sooner or later. The longer he stays in town, the more his days are numbered. Taggert barges in on Sonny and Alcazar's meeting. Jax shows up and tells Taggert that he wants Alcazar to be arrested for kidnapping Brenda. Taggert explains to Jax that those charges would most likely not stick, since it wasn't really kidnapping. Taggert then escorts Alcazar away. Sonny tells Jax that he heard the good news about Brenda from none other than Brenda herself. Sonny and Jax argue over Brenda. He taunts him about leaving his wife and that whole situation. Jason and Carly are having a drink when Sonny comes back and politely tells Carly that he needs to talk business with Jason, her cue to leave the room. He tells Jason that he had a run in with Alcazar and Taggert. He tells Jason that Taggert threatened Sonny with being the first person they arrest if Alcazar turns up dead. Jason and Sonny begin to contemplate other ways to get rid of Alcazar.

Courtney meets Carly and Michael in the Park and Carly offers to let Courtney baby-sit Michael so Courtney can get acquainted with her nephew. Carly and Courtney have a heart-to-heart about Jason and Carly admits that, while Carly believes that Courtney would be a better match for Jason than Elizabeth Webber would, Carly also confesses to Courtney that Carly knows that Sonny would not be happy if Sonny's sister became romantically involved with someone as tied to a dangerous lifestyle as Jaso is. While Carly and Courtney are talking in the park, Carly suddenly hears a strolling guitar player who plays a familiar tune. Carly and Jason's former cell mate in Venezuela is released and his personal possessions are returned to him. As soon as he is released, he cleans up and shaves, then boards a private jet. While on board the jet, he checks out his gun to make sure it is in perfect working order.

Sonny had informed Jason that Alcazar may show up to Brenda's party considering how obsessed he is in getting Brenda back. He gives Jason orders to follow Alcazar to the party and make his move. Jason shows up and throws something at Alcazar's limo to get the driver's attention. The driver comes out of the limo to investigate one of the front tires. Jason comes up from behind him and uses chloroform to knock him out. He drags his unconscious body to the bushes and steals his hat to wear. He gets inside the limo to disguise himself as the driver and wait for Alcazar. Alcazar shows up outside and gets into the limo. He orders Jason to take him back to his hotel immediately. Skye gets into the back of the limo and tells Alcazar she is coming with him to the hotel. Alcazar doesn't stop her and tells Jason to take them both to the hotel. Jason realizes who is in the limo and curses but does what he says, with his gun next to him. As they drive off, A.J. watches the limo take off with a curious look on his face.

Sonny's preoccupation with business upsets Carly. Sonny reassures her that he doesn't care what Brenda does with her life and with whom since she is his wife and he plans to spend the rest of his life with her. Carly is reassured for awhile but a call from Benny interrupts their night at Luke's club. Earlier in the evening, a mysterious man (Ric - Jason and Carly's old cell mate from Venezuela) shows up at Sonny's penthouse and asks to speak to Sonny. Max, Sonny's bodyguard informs him that Sonny doesn't meet with strangers unless he has been introduced by one of his associates or friends first. Ric tells Max that a friend of his is an associate of Sonny's and recommended that he meet him. Max refuses to let the man enter Sonny's place and tells him that his friend will have to call and set up a meeting with them outside of his home. The man doesn't argue with him and leaves quietly. Ric then shows up at Luke's club and sits at the bar observing Carly, Sonny, and Jason who joined them earlier for a drink before heading off to follow Alcazar. The man continued to watch them all evening. Sonny takes a cell phone call from Benny, Ric overhears. Since Sonny and Carly are trying to be seen in case they need an alibi, Carly suggests that they go past Kelly's and see Courtney. When Carly tells Sonny that Courtney is feeling a little foolish for ever having believed A.J., Sonny questions how Carly would know for sure how Courtney was feeling about anything.

Jason silently slips unnoticed in to the command center for the surveillance cameras of the Hotel, chloroforms the night watchman, and shuts off the video camera trained on Alcazar's floor. As Sonny and Carly talk to Courtney at Kelly's, A.J. arrives and startles Sonny by guessing that Sonny is trying to be seen in public because something is going down tonight and Sonny wants to make sure he has an alibi. Sonny accuses A.J. of making false accusations, but, after A.J. goes into the kitchen to try to speak with Courtney, Sonny calls Jason and tells Jason that, since A.J. is suspicious about something going down, they need to postpone the hit on Alcazar. As Jason prepares to leave the Port Charles Hotel, he glances up and notices that, on one of the monitors, Jason can see Brenda headed toward Alcazar's suite. Jason starts up the stairway to intercept Brenda. While Jason races up the stairs to try to prevent Brenda from entering Alcazar's Penthouse, Jax enters the building through the Lobby when a celebrating couple leaves for a party. Brenda's loud knocking on Alcazar's door wakes Alcazar but not Skye. Luis opens the door of his hotel room to find Brenda there. He thinks she has come to her senses.

Brenda seems visibly distraught and tells him the only thing he’s ever done for her is to save her life and because of that, she owes him. She tries to return the favor and informs Luis that Sonny is going to kill him so he should leave town. Luis says he isn’t worried about Sonny and claims she is there because they belong together. He says she will never be happy without him, that he won’t let her be happy with anyone else. Skye, who is still in Luis’ bed, is awoken by their voices. Back in the living room, Brenda tries to get past Luis to get out of there but he won’t let her. He grabs her and forcibly kisses her. She pulls away in tears and wrenches away from his grasp. Her bracelet unknowingly falls to the floor in her struggle to get out. She turns around and runs out of the room. As she races down the hall, she hits a room service table and knocks a knife to the ground. She picks up the knife and stares at it. Back in Luis’ bedroom, Skye wakes up and holds her head and looks at the closed bedroom door. Meanwhile, Jax is in the elevator. As it hits the14th floor, he gets out and stares down the hall. Jason, at the same time, is running up the stairwell. He arrives on the 14th floor, opens the door and looks down the hall.Luis has gone outside to the balcony, agonizing over Brenda. He is near tears. Someone is in his room and walks to the balcony. Luis turns around and faces the person and asks, “Now what?” Suddenly, Luis comes flailing down 14 floors, seemingly thrown off the balcony. He lands SMACK on a car’s windshield. The car alarm blares. Luis’ hotel room door is wide open, the bedroom door closed. Brenda is leaning against a wall breathing deeply. Jason comes up from behind and grabs her with a gloved hand. She starts screaming but he stifles her screaming. She whirls around and tells Jason that Luis grabbed her and she hurt him. Jason asks if he is dead. She just repeats that she hurt him. They hear a noise and go running back into the stairwell. A maid pushes a housekeeping cart down the hall.

Outside, Ric is right next to Alcazar’s body and the car. He checks out the scene. Back upstairs, Skye finally comes out of the bedroom and gathers her clothes. She seems freaked out, looks around the room one final time and races out the open door down the hall. Back outside, Alexis rounds a corner by a garbage dumpster and sees Luis’ body mangled on the car windshield. She lets out a piercing scream. Outside Kelly’s, Carly has come outside to look for her husband. Sonny points out that Jason was supposed to meet him there, but he’s late. Sonny deduces something happened. Carly wonders if Jason is hurt or in trouble. Suddenly, Sonny’s cell phone rings. Jason is on the other end and says, “There were complications. We are headed home.” Sonny wonders who the “we” is, but announces he’ll head home, too. Sonny and Carly head out.

At Harborview Towers, Sonny and Carly arrive home and turn on the news to watch the story about Alcazar. After he’s heard enough, Sonny turns off the TV. Carly is freaked out and worried about Jason. Sonny tells her to stay there and don’t talk to anyone. In a very un-Carly like move, she doesn’t seem to want to follow directions. Finally, she agrees to stay there and keep her mouth shut. Sonny leaves and goes across the hall to Jason’s place. Sonny enters Jason's penthouse and wants to know what happened. Jason fills him in but Brenda continues to be vague and worries about getting back to Jax. Jason demands to know the details. Finally, Brenda admits she stabbed Luis. She recounts how he grabbed her, kissed her, she got away, ran into a room service cart, took the knife and intended to go back to Luis’ room and kill him. Sonny asks if she did kill him. Brenda says she wanted to, but she didn’t. She says she stabbed him in his hand, maybe his shoulder, too. Sonny asks where the knife was; she claims she threw it down. Sonny asks if she was wearing gloves. She is surprised at the question, since she didn’t go there to kill him and he was alive when she left. She asks Sonny and Jason if they think she is lying. Sonny says he believes her but just wants all the details. She is fed up and wants to go to Jax. Jason finally loses his patience and informs her that Alcazar is indeed dead and they need to cover up what happened. They decide Brenda should go back to Jax for now, though. As Brenda and Jason head to the elevator, Sonny tells Brenda to keep it quiet that she was at Jason’s place and talked to Sonny. She promises not to tell anyone, even Jax. Carly hears the voices in the hallway and opens the door. When she sees Brenda involved, she just shakes her head in disgust and goes back inside. Back in their place, Sonny and Carly are watching the news again, but he turns it off as they are about to announce what the prime suspect looks like. They have drinks and Carly admits that she heard them talking to Brenda and she knows that Sonny is covering for Brenda. Carly deduces that Brenda killed Alcazar. Luis’s hotel room is cordoned off with yellow police tape. Scott is barking “don’t-mess-this-up” orders to the policemen. AJ is there with relevant information for Scott. Scott warns him to stay clear of the crime scene so his DNA doesn’t taint that of his brother’s. AJ announces how he saw Jason driving Alcazar’s limo at the Quartermaine house. Taggert wants corroboration from someone.

Carly doesn't want Sonny involved in Alcazar's murder just to help Brenda. Carly has deduced that Brenda was at the murder scene and Jason brought her home. Sonny confirms this and wants to know if Brenda killed Alcazar. Sonny says that Brenda couldn't have physically thrownAlcazar over the balcony, but Carly disagrees. Sonny claims "to know" based on nothing. Carly is irritated that Sonny is coming to Brenda's defense again, and she wants the facts. Sonny claims he doesn't know who killed Alcazar, and Carly asks "who" since Brenda was the only one there. Jason calls Sonny to tell him he's at the PCPD, and Sonny says he's on his way. Carly finds out and tells Sonny she doesn't want to hear that Jason is going to take the fall for Brenda. At the PCPD, Scott tells Jason he's about to star in his own lineup. Alcazar's chauffeur (who was chloroformed) is asked to identify Jason out of a lineup. The hotel guard is asked the same question, but he says he was hit from behind and saw nothing. Scott brings in a maid from the hotel who was on the 14th floor and questions her. She tells him she can't remember who she saw on the 14th floor, there are so many people in the hotel. She then points to #3 (Jason) and says she's certain she saw him go out through the stairs. Scott claims victory while Taggert says they don't have a witness that says Jason did anything. Sonny and Carly arrive at PCPD, and Scott does his blowhard routine about sending Jason to prison. Skye arrives and tells Taggert that she was in Alcazar's bedroom the night he was murdered. Skye says she knows who the murdered is. Scott tells Sonny that Jason is going to jail for a crime Sonny ordered, and Sonny tells Scott Jason is going nowhere. Carly tries to convince Jason to not take the rap for Brenda. Mac comes in and makes Carly leave. Carly asks how far he's going to go to protect Brenda. Taggert tells Scott that Skye witnessed the murder. Scott says "you saw Jason Morgan do it", and Skye says Jason's wife Brenda did it, not Jason.

Benny tries to warn Sonny that Sonny's associates are nervous about the trouble that has erupted since Brenda returned, Carly saunters through the living room and tells Sonny that Carly does not want Jason to go to jail to protect Brenda but Sonny insists that Scott will have no evidence that Jason was ever in Alcazar's Penthouse and will need to release Jason. As Sonny and Carly argue about Jason, Benny suddenly keels over with a heart attack and Sonny rushes Benny to the Hospital. Taggert informs Scott that the forensics report has matched thefingerprints on the knife and that there is only one set of fingerprints on the knife and they belong to Brenda!

Brenda arrives at the Penthouse and demands to know why Jason is being charged with Alcazar's murder. Carly angrily informs Brenda that it is because Sonny is going to let Jason take the fall for Brenda's crime. As Brenda and Carly argue about Alcazar's murder, Carly asks if Brenda or Jax killed Alcazar. Then Carly implores Brenda to tell the police what Brenda knows about Alcazar's death in order to free Jason. As Brenda tries to storm out of the room, Carly tries to stop Brenda from leaving and Brenda pushes Carly away. Carly points out that Brenda is strong enough to be the one who pushed Alcazar over the balcony and to his death. Courtney arrives at Sonny's Penthouse to ask Carly if Carly knows yet that Jason is being held for Alcazar's murder. When Courtney shares with Carly her theory that A.J. has falsely stated to the police that A.J. saw Jason driving away from the Quartermaine Mansion in Alcazar's limousine because A.J. is jealous of Jason and is trying to frame his brother, Carly replies: "OK. A.J. is a screw-up. He couldn't frame a picture let alone his own brother!' Carly suggests that Courtney could help get Jason out of jail. When Courtney wonders why Sonny would not be the one arranging to get Jason out of jail, Carly shocks Courtney by suggesting that Sonny might ask Jason to take the fall for Brenda! When Courtney is shocked to learn that her brother would be willing to sacrifice Jason to a prison sentence for a crime Jason did not commit, Carly implores Courtney to appeal to Sonny to get Jason off the hook. Carly warns Courtney that if Sonny asks Jason to take the fall for Brenda, Jason will do just that!

As Sonny waits at the Hospital for news about Benny's heart condition, Brenda finds Sonny there and the two of them slip away to the Chapel for a quiet talk. Sonny assures Brenda that there is nothing to worry about, because Jason was never inside Alcazar's Penthouse and forensics will find no evidence and they will have to release Jason. Sonny is shocked when Brenda informs Sonny that she and Jax were on their way to Fiji. As Sonny suspiciously questions Brenda, Brenda admits that it was Jax'S idea for them to leave the country and Sonny suggests that it was Jax who killed Alcazar! But Brenda insists that she is positive that Jax did not kill Alcazar. Then Brenda bluntly asks Sonny if Sonny had ordered Jason to kill Alcazar.

Meanwhile, at the PCPD, Taggert and Scott announce to Jason that he is being released, and Taggert heads out to locate Brenda. Taggert finds Brenda in the Hospital chapel as she is speaking to Sonny. Taggert announces that Brenda is under arrest for the murder of Luis Alcazar. Carly learns from Bobbie that Sonny left the Hospital with Brenda. However, when Carly answers her door, expecting to see Sonny, she finds instead that her former cell mate from the Venezuelan jail is standing there. Sonny finds Alexis in the Hospital's Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and tells his former attorney that he needs a legal referral, because Brenda has been arrested. As Sonny and Alexis talk outside the Neonatal ICU, Kristina's alarm bell suddenly goes off and nurses begin to rush in to assist.

Ric arrives at Sonny's Penthouse and tells Carly that he has an important letter for Sonny. Carly does not recognize her former cell mate and tells the Stranger that he will have to wait. He elects to stand in the hallway outside Sonny's door, and Carly puts in a call toSonny. Sonny is at the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, asking Alexis for legal referrals for Brenda's case, when an alarm goes off for Kristina. As Kristina is rushed out for emergency care, Alexis becomes hysterical and blames Sonny for Kristina's sudden turn for the worst. Ned arrives, finds Alexis hysterical and orders Sonny to leave. Jason receives a call from Sonny, who informs Jason that Brenda has been arrested and that Sonny wants to stay clear of the Police.

Sonny returns to his Penthouse and finds Carly talking to the Venezuelan Stranger. After Carly leaves, Sonny blasts Ric for hanging around outside Sonny's door and giving Sonny's wife cause for concern. Ric begs Sonny's forgiveness for his thoughtless action and hands Sonny a letter from Octavo Morales, Sonny's business partner in Puerto Rico. It is a letter of recommendation from Octavo to Sonny, recommending Ric to Sonny. Ric asks Sonny for a job and Sonny discusses Ric's credentials as a lawyer. Sonny informs Ric that Sonny does not need a lawyer and then Sonny asks what Ric has been doing since the year 2000. Ric claims that he was attending business school at Stamford and can get copies of the transcripts for Sonny. Sonny tells Ric not to bother, and Ric leaves. When Carly informs Sonny that Carly has learned that Brenda has been arrested, Sonny tells Carly that Alcazar deserved to die and that Brenda will not go to prison for snuffing out the arms dealer.

Carly arrives at the PCPD and sees Sonny and Brenda in the questioning room together. Scott goads Carly about them being together. Sonny still doesn't believe Brenda killed Alcazar. He thinks the police believe Brenda killed Alcazar and that Jason was an accomplice. Carly wants to know why, when Jason was arrested, he was on his own, but now that Brenda is arrested, Jason and Sonny are leaping to her defense. Jason shows up and Carly tells him she doesn't want him to take the rap for Brenda. Sonny wants Jason to tell him exactly what happened that night. Jason recounts the events. Jason says that Brenda told him Jax was at Alcazar's that night and that he picked up the bracelet that Brendadropped. Sonny tells Jason to try to calm Carly down that Carly is convinced that Sonny isgoing to order Jason to take the fall for Brenda. Sonny assures Brenda that he WILL get her off the hook, but she needs to stay strong. Brenda admits to Sonny that she TRIED to set Scott straight about what really happened the night that Luis Alcazar died, and that Scott taped Brenda's statement and is probably planning to twist the information to convict Brenda, Jason and Sonny. Sonny again reassures Brenda not to worry. But Scott makes sure that Carly sees Brenda and Sonny with their heads together and urges Carly to get Brenda out of Carly's marriage by confiding to Scott whatever dirt Carly knows about Brenda. Pretending to be about to divulge a hot, inside tip, Carly whispers that Sonny and Jason know for a fact that Brenda did not kill Alcazar. Scott suggests that if Sonny and Jason are that positive that Brenda did not kill Alcazar perhaps it is because Sonny and Jason already know who did kill Alcazar. Carly whispers that Sonny and Jason believe that Scott killed Alcazar because Alcazar humiliated Scott in court!

Liz brings a package to Ric's room above Kelly's, but finds the new boarder is not at home. Letting herself in to deposit the package, Elizabeth notices that Ric is keeping quite a file of news clippings, documents and photos - all about Sonny. Ric returns unexpectedly and jumps down Liz's throat for snooping in his room. Later, when Elizabeth sees Carly at Kelly's, Liz tells Carly about Ric's file. Carly sees Ric leaving Kelly's, and stops Ric to quiz him about the file. Ric claims that the file was research that he used to produce a five-year plan for Sonny's business, which Ric planned to drop off at Sonny's Penthouse, to go along with the resume that Ric left earlier. And Ric shows Carly the five-year plan to prove his point. Carly warns Ric that if he plans any false moves against Sonny, Ric will end up at the bottom of the river. As Carly turns to leave, she slips on the ice and Ric offers to help her get home.

Sonny and Jason meet on the docks and Sonny informs Jason that Scott has already tricked Brenda into making an unofficial statement, which Scott taped. Jason warns Sonny to stay away from Brenda, because the Police are keeping a record of Brenda's visitors. As Brenda's husband, Jason is an acceptable visitor, but too many visits from Sonny could enable the Prosecution to claim that Sonny, Jason and Brenda conspired together to kill Alcazar. Sonny is angry when he returns to the Penthouse and finds Carly on the couch with her anklepropped up and Ric in the Penthouse! Carly explains that Ric helped her home after she slipped on the ice, but Sonny remains angry. Sonny shoves some money at Ric to pay for helping his wife home, but Ric turns the money down, telling Sonny that he will wait until he earns it before accepting money from Sonny. After Sonny orders Ric to get out of his home, Carly gives Sonny Ric's five-year plan for Sonny's businesses and admits that it looks pretty good to her. But Sonny says that there is something not right about Ric and that Ric is too good to be true and Sonny burns the plan in the fireplace. Later that night, Ric awakens from a nightmare about an explosion.

Sonny has a run-in with Jax on the docks. They play the blame game concerning Brenda's arrest. Jax tells him that it is because of him and Jason that Scott is going after Brenda so he can charge them with conspiracy to commit murder. Sonny blames Jax for Brenda's predicament since he broke his wedding vows and Skye decided to get revenge on Brenda and him because of it. Sonny asked Jason to do something for him that evening but Jason tells him he has plans tonight but will get someone else to do it for him. Sonny is understanding and tells him not to worry about it right now. Later, Sonny leaves. Carly asks Jason to fix one of Michael's toys for him and uses that as an excuse to question him about what he is doing tonight and with whom. Jason doesn't tell her much. Ric gets a call from Sonny, asking him to meet him in an hour at the penthouse. Ric goes over there and Carly gets the wrong idea and asks him not to come to her home or Sonny won't hire him at all. Sonny shows up and asks Carly to leave the room so they can talk business. Sonny informs Ric that he may have a job for him after all. Sonny tells Ric that Sonny wants Ric to dig up dirt on Scott that will be bad enough to convince Scott to play ball with Sonny. But Sonny warns Ric that if Ric gets caught, Sonny will claim that Sonny knows nothing about Ric. Ric accepts the assignment. But, as Rick prepares to leave, Michael and Carly return and Michael meets Ric and asks Ric where he came from. Ric tells Michael that he grew up in Europe. When Ric leaves the penthouse, Carly tries to get Sonny to tell her what Ric's assignment is but Sonny tells Carly that Sonny does not want Carly to know what Ric is doing, but does admit that, even if it goes haywire, Sonny will be safe, because Ric is expendable. Sonny admits that he had Ric investigated and that all of Ric's involvements appear to be clean but Sonnystill has a feeling that Ric is too good to be true.

Later, as Jason returns to the Penthouse, Carly stops him with questions about his 'date.' However, before Jason can give Carly any answers, Sonny interrupts to talk business with Jason. From the PCPD, Brenda calls Sonny and asks him to come to the PCPD right away because there is an emergency. Sonny lies to Carly and tells his wife that he is going out to meet Ric, who has dug up some information Ric believes will be helpful to Sonny. Carly tries to tease Jason about his date with Courtney but Jason bluntly tells Carly to stay out of his private life. As Jason leaves the Penthouse, Ric shows up, asking for Sonny and Carly reminds Ric that Sonny did not want Ric to be seen at the Penthouse. Jason suddenly grabs Ric and tells Carly to check Ric's briefcase for a gun. Carly tells Jason that Sonny hired Ric, but Carly still searches for a gun and finds nothing. Ric tells Carly that he has information Sonny needs to get right away, but Carly says that Sonny went out to meet Ric. When Ric pleads ignorance, Carly guesses that Sonny lied and Carly further speculates that Sonny rushed right out to rescue Brenda - again! When Jason tries to caution Carly about exploding, Carly curtly tells Jason to stay out of her private life!

Scott tells Sonny that Scott has met Sonny's newest goon who offered his services to Scott as a double agent! When Sonny and Brenda meet, Scott tries tolisten in, but discovers that his bug has been removed. Mac spots Scott vainly trying to listen in and Mac informs Scott that Mac will not allow any more illegal eavesdropping to take place at the PCPD. Brenda informs Sonny that Jax confessed, so Brenda plans to confess. Sonny orders Brenda to sit tight and let Sonny handle things. Sonny promises that he WILL get all three of them off the hook for Alcazar's murder. Brenda promises that she will not confess. Sonny tells Scott to release Brenda and Mac agrees that Brenda will be released, but not until the next morning.

When Sonny returns to the Penthouse, Sonny claims he was late because he had a lot to discuss. Sonny suddenly admits that he was with Brenda instead of with Ric and Carly admits that she knew that Sonny was with Brenda again. When Sonny apologizes, Carly tells him that she understands. They kiss and Carly tells Sonny that Ric told her that Ric already has information he believes Sonny should know about right away. Carly questions that Jax confessing to the murder doesn't stop the problems. Carly says that Brenda will do something stupid. Sonny tries to tell Carly that everything's under control. Sonny wants to know why Ric stopped by last night, and Carly wants to know why he wants to know he hired Ric, didn't he? Carly sees the reporters with Jason on TV and decides to leave to be with him. Jason tells Brenda, in no uncertain words, that she's staying at his penthouse because she's supposed to be his wife. Sonny appears. Again, he says he's working on getting Jax off. Brenda says if something doesn't happen soon, she'll have to do something desperate. Brenda finally getsthe picture that she needs to choose between covering for Jax, and taking Sonny and Jason down with her confession. Brenda says that Scott said Sonny wants Jax to go to jail so Sonny can have her all to himself.

Carly enters and sees Ric. Ric wants to know if Sonny is home, and Carly goes off saying she doesn't know anything about anything, and that she's just the good little wife. She then tells Ric to forget all she said, that Sonny is swell. Ric has a package to be delivered to Sonny, then hides it when Scott walks in and accuses Ric of stealing something that belongs to Scott. When Ric runs in to Carly at Kelly's, he tells her that he has a tape that he 'found' at the District Attorney's office and that he needs to meet with Sonny to hand it over. However, as Carly and Ric talk, Scott and Taggert suddenly show up and Scott accuses Ric of having lifted something from the District Attorney's office, and Scott demands that Ric return it. Ric pretends innocence and Carly suddenly tells Scott that Scott does need to take Ric down to the Port Charles Police Department, because Ric has been snooping around town, asking questions about Carly's husband, and Scott needs to find out what Ric is up to. As Scott gets into an argument with Ric about legal precedents, Carly uses the distraction to shove the purloined tape in to her purse and takes off. Ric suddenly agrees to go quietly to the PCPD with Scott.

Brenda asks Sonny what he would do if Brenda had killed Alcazar. Sonny tells Brenda that he only wants to see her happy and then Sonny assures Brenda that Sonny knows that Brenda did not kill Alcazar. When Sonny wonders out loud if Brenda is playing Sonny against Jax, Brenda denies it. By the time Sonny returns to his own Penthouse, Carly has already arrived and gives the tape to Sonny. However, when Sonny admits that he is angry that Ric involved Carly in something so risky as possibly getting caught with something stolen from the D.A.'s office, Carly insists that she only wanted to help and she did! Sonny confides to Carly that Sonny is still not sure if Ric is trustworthy. But, after Carly insists, Sonny does look at the tape and both Carly and Sonny realize that the tape confirms that Jax was at the Port Charles Hotel close to the time that Alcazar died. Sonny decides the tape is an important piece of evidence that could put Jason and Sonny in the clear and Sonny headsdown to the PCPD to bail Ric out. Scott accuses Ric of having already passed the tape to Sonny, but Ric denies knowing anything about the tape Scott is asking about. Scott then hints that maybe Scott could take Ric up on Ric's offer to work together to bring Sonny down if Ric returns the tape. But Sonny arrives before Ric can give Scott an answer and Sonny announces to Scott that Sonny was planning to hire Ric as an attorney. Scott releases Ric with a warning. Outside the PCPD, Ric tells Sonny that Ric believes that the tape was evidence that Scott was suppressing and that if Scott gets the tape back, Scott will destroy the tape because Scott does not want Jax to be guilty of Alcazar's murder. Sonny compliments Ric for a job well-done!

As Brenda listens to the latest news accounts about Jax's arrest, Brenda decides to go down tothe PCPD and confess. But Carly spots Brenda on the way to the elevator and tries to stop her. As Brenda and Carly argue in the hallway, Jason returns and Carly immediately reports to Jason that Brenda was headed down to the PCPD to confess to Alcazar's murder. Jason takes Brenda home and angrily asks his wife: 'How many lives are you willing to destroy to save Jax?' Brenda. "As many as it takes!' Sonny calls Brenda on his cell phone and leaves a message on her machine to call him as soon as she gets his message. He tells her that it concerns what happens to Jax at his hearing today. Taggert shows up at his penthouse at his request. Sonny gives him a video-tape of Jax and tells Taggert that it shows Jax at the hotel around the time of the murder on a hotel survelience tape. Taggert reluctantly takes it but asks him where he got it. Sonny doesn't tell him who gave it to him but tells him that it helps prove Jax is telling the truth about committing the murder. Taggert takes it with him. Carly comes downstairs with the intention of going to Jax's hearing with him. Sonny tells her he doesn't want her showing up at the hearing since there is no reason for her to be there. She doesn't take it well at first especially when he tells her he wants her to stay home under guard. Carly gets upset and storms out of the penthouse.

Alexis presents her case to why Jax should be given bail. Scott doesn't object to bail and the judge asks Jax to promise not to leave town on his own jet. Taggert barges into the courtroom and interrupts the ceremony. He tells the judge that he just got in his possession a video surveillance tape showing Jax at the hotel around the time of the murder. The judge questions where the tape came from and why it wasn't in evidence sooner. Taggert and Scott do a lot of backpedaling without placing blame or naming Sonny as the source. The judge doesn't like what they have been up to and warns them not to do this again. He denies bail to Jax because of it. Skye yells out that Jax is being set up and he didn't kill anyone. Alexis tells her never to do that again since she caused Jax to lose out on bail as well. Scott approaches Sonny later and tells him that he shouldn't be to smug since he will prove that he had Alcazar killed. Sonny dismisses his threat.

Carly goes to Kelly's. She runs into Ric there and assumes Sonny sent him to be her own personal bodyguard. She jumps down his throat and tells him she doesn't need his protection. Ric manages to tell her that he came to Kelly's because he lives there. Carly tells him that Sonny would like nothing better than for her to get a job outside their home so she would be to busy to ask him about his business. Ric mentions that she probably isn't cut out to be a mob wife. Carly takes offense to that. She tells him about the club she use to manage and how she ended up losing that position. Ric listens as Carly tells him how much she enjoyed getting Club 101 up and operational. Ric suggests that Carly start a new club. Carly finally decides that Ric is right and she should start another business. Carly then invites Ric to become her business manager and, after some mild persuasion, Ric consents.

At the penthouse Sonny calls Brenda's number again and gets her answering service. Brenda shows up and asks him why he gave the police the tape of Jax. Sonny tells her that he didn't give the police the tape to hurt her in any way and that he did it so that Scott would be stopped from being able to set up her and Jason for the murder now that a tape and Jax's confession seems more airtight. Brenda doesn't know whether to believe him or not but reluctantly listens to him.

Brenda accuses Sonny of giving the tape of Jax entering the Hotel the night that Luis was murdered to the court because Sonny hates Jax and is eager to pin Alcazar's murder on Jax so that Sonny and Jason can be in the clear. But Sonny insists that what handing the tape over did was slow down Scott's investigation. Sonny claims that Jax is stalling and Sonny is merely helping Jax do that. As long as Jax has confessed and the District Attorney has Jax's fingerprints on the balcony, plus Jax's confession, plus the tape, the D.A. must consider Jax as the primary suspect. Sonny further explains that, since Scott is desparate to pin Alcazar's murder on Jason or Sonny, no one will work more diligently to prove that Jax is innocent than Scott, so Brenda has nothing to fear. When Jason arrives, Brenda angrily leaves to go to thePort Charles Police Department to visit Jax. When Jason returns to Sonny's Penthouse, Sonny tells Jason it is time for Jason to take his new bride on a nice, long honeymoon out of the country. Sonny is surprised when Jason appears to be reluctant to take Brenda out of the country and spend time alone with her on one ofSonny's private islands. Sonny suspiciously asks if Jason has another reason why Jason does not want to leave Port Charles just now but Jason just states that spending time alone with Brenda on an island somewhere is his idea of hell. Courtney suddenly arrives across the hall, looking for Jason. As Courtney is ready to leave, Carly comes up in the elevator and guesses that Courtney is trying to meet with Jason. Carly tells Courtney to stay put, then Carly goes inside her Penthouse and sends Sonny to get her a drink of water. When Sonny is out of the room, Carly signals to Jason that he is needed out in the hall. Jason is surprised to see that his visitor is Courtney, and they leave together to look at apartments that Courtney has found. After Jason leaves Sonny's apartment, Carly outlines for Sonny her plan for a new club and Carly is thrilled when Sonny tells her that he will back her new business venture. But Sonny is shocked when he learns that Ric Lansing is going to be Carly's numbers guy and Sonny observes that it is almost as if Ric was trying to take over Sonny's life. Later, as Carly envisions the opening night for her new club, she suggests that even Jason could have a date maybe even with Courtney. Sonny suddenly tells Carly that if Jason laid a finger on Sonny's sister, Sonny would have to kill him!

Scott takes Jax, Brenda, and Alexis to Alcazar's Penthouse, where Mac is waiting with a film crew. Scott informs his 'guests' that they are going to re-enact everything that happened the night that Alcazar fell to his death. Even though Alexis again objects, Jax agrees to go along with Scott's re-enactment. But, first, Scott asks Brenda to show Scott how she slashed Alcazar's hand, with Scott playing the part of Alcazar. So Brenda goes through the motions and shows Scott how she cut Alcazar's hand with the knife. When Mac asks Brenda when she and Alcazar went out on the balcony, Brenda denies that she went out on the balcony - that she merely threw the knife down and ran away again. As Scott questions why Brenda would be willing to just run away if she hated Alcazar so much a few minutes before that she had just tried to stab him, Skye suddenly bursts out of the bedroom and calls Brenda a liar, and reminding Brenda that Skye was there and saw 'everything!' Jax insists that he was the one who shoved Alcazar off the balcony. So Scott asks Jax to show Scott how Jax and Alcazar struggled, with Scott again playing the part of Alcazar. But, as Jax shows Scott how he struggled with Alcazar and then threw the arms dealer off the balcony, Scott shows Jax a splotch of blood on Jax's shirt and confides to his guests that Scott had Taggert pick up some movie blood, which Scott put on his hand when Brenda showed Scott how Brenda cut Alcazar's hand. Scott points out that if Jax really had struggled with Alcazar in the way that Jax demonstrated to Scott and the assembled camera crew, then Jax would have had blood on his clothes the night that Alcazar died. But, since the police found no blood on any of Jax's clothes when they searched the Cottage, Jax could not have struggled with Alcazar the way that Jax just claimed he had! Brenda is shocked when Scott orders Jax arrested again - this time for obstruction of justice.

Sonny and Carly talk about Carly's plans for a new club and Carly admits that she considers Ric optional, but she likes the air of class that Ric's prestigious credentials would lend to a new club. Later, from the Court House, Ric alerts Sonny that Jax has been granted an emergency hearing and Sonny orders Ric to sit in on the session, while Sonny tries to track down Brenda. Sonny finds Brenda at the Cottage and tries to warn her that the investigation will swing back to her, but Brenda appears unconcerned. When Brenda asks Sonny why Sonny did not kill Alcazar on the island when he had the chance, Sonny admits that he did not want Brenda to have to deal with the memory of Alcazar's death. Sonny admits that he feels responsible for the current situation because he did not rub Alcazar out when he had the chance. Sonny tells Brenda that he is glad that she is not dying. But, as Sonny and Brenda begin to talk about old times, they soon end up arguing and Sonny leaves. Jason returns to the Penthouse and Carly tries to encourage Jason's interest in Courtney, but Jason angrily demands that Carly leave his life alone. When Sonny returns to the Penthouse, Sonny tells Jason to go see Brenda and try to convince her that the Alcazar things is not going to go away just because Brenda is thinking good thoughts. Jason assures Sonny that Jason will be able to convince Brenda to listen to him.

At Club 101, Sonny is antsy about being in the club and wants to leave. Carly insists they stay until Courtney shows up. Sammy Tagliati shows up. In walks a mysterious blonde woman, Faith, that Sonny describes as trouble. Carly asks if it isn't a sign of disrespect for Tagliati to be on Sonny's turf. Sonny says the blonde is Roscoe's widow, and she's taking over the territory of her dead husband. Carly brings up thequestion that she was told that "the family" wouldn't do business with a woman, but Sonny brushes it off that they won't be doing business with Carly. Sonny doesn't want Carly involved with the business to protect her. Ric enters the club. Ric starts to tell Sonny about Jax's situation, and Sonny tells Ric he should know better than to discuss business in front of Carly.

Courtney arrives and says she'll stop by later to say hello to Sonny. Courtney has to wait on AJ and tells him they have nothing to discuss. Sonny wants to intervene, but Carly tells him to let her handle it by herself. AJ says he's fighting the divorce all the way. Courtney then tells Skye she doesn't need a job where she's pressures to deal with a man she can't stand, and quits. She stops by Sonny and Carly's table, tells them she just quit, and lands a job as a hostess at Carly's new club. Sonny goes to the bar to get some champagne and Faith approaches him. Sonny advises her to watch herself in business. She mentions that Sonny hasn't offered her condolences on her husband's death, and Sonny responds "You're right, I haven't". Ric tells Sonny and Carly that he already has a list of potential investors for Carly's new club. Ned arrives and announces "If it isn't the local crime boss". Ned advises Rick that he better watch out Sonny is hard on attorneys and ruined Alexis' life. Ned asks Carly if she's too pretty and dumb to see that Sonny will ruin her life. Sonny stands up and tells Ned to apologize. Ned mouths off, throws a punch at Sonny, and Sonny wipes the floor with him.

Carly arrives at Kelly's and tries to get Jason interested in blueprints of Kelly's, which show a hidden room. But Jason tells Carly that he does not have time for her little project. However, as Jason prepares to leave, Ric arrives, sits down with Carly and is immediately interested in Carly's blueprints. Jason returns to Kelly's, and when Jason discovers Ric huddled over the blueprints with Carly, Jason tries to warn Carly against trusting Ric. But Carly insists that Sonny himself checked Ric out and could NOT find anything wrong in Ric's background. However, Jason warns Carly that someone who seems too good to be true probably is! Courtney finishes her shift and motionsJason out to the Christmas tree lot and Jason soon splits - but not without Elizabeth noticing that Jason appears to be following Courtney and without Carly getting wise to something going on. After Jason leaves, Carly gleefully informs Liz that it is too late for Liz to be trying to get Jason back because Jason has moved on. But Liz reminds Carly that the reason Liz and Jason's relationship ended was because Jason lied to Liz. Outside the Christmas tree lot, Ric suddenly remembers a previous Christmas with his family. Then Ric flashes back to an explosion and is stunned when he realizes that Carly is standing right beside him!

Ned tracks down Faith Roscoe, Roscoe's widow, who is taking over Roscoe's territory since her husband's 'unexplained' death at Jason's hand. , Ned offers Faith $1 million for a new venture he wants her help with destroying Sonny Corinthos! Sonny confides to Jason how his mistake last Christmas pushed Courtney into A.J.'s arms. Sonny considers offering his sister tuition money for a school far from home where she'll be safer. As Jason, Carly and Michael make plans for the Penthouse Christmas tree, Courtney arrives with a box of cookies and Carly makes an excuse to leave Jason and Courtney alone together. But, when they are alone, Jason informs Courtney that he may need to leave soon to take Brenda away.

Felicia barges in on Scott's conversation with Ida (the witness). Ida tells Felicia and Scott of being contacted by a mysterious man soon after Alcazar fell to his death. Ida tells of being afraid for her life as the man told her that he KNEW that she had witnessed Alcazar's murder. The mysterious voice told Ida to meet him on the Elm Street Pier and promised to pay her a large sum of money for her silence and threatened dire consequences if Ida did NOT cooperate. So Ida fearfully met her mysterious caller on the Elm Street Pier one night. The mysterious man put down a paper bag with $100,000 in it and told Ida to get on the first plane out of town, going anywhere. But, when the man left, Ida turned and got a good look at him and would be able to identify him later. Ida identifies Jason as the man with the cold eyes who gave a bag of money to Ida and told her to leave town. Scott orders warrants for the immediate arrest of Jason, Sonny and Brenda.

Alexis meets Sonny on the docks and accuses Sonny of having paid off a witness who would tie Brenda to Alcazar's murder. Sonny denies that Sonny would believe there was any need to be paying anyone off to keep quiet about Brenda, since Sonny believes that Brenda is innocent. Sonny suggests that Alexis would be better off, directing her angry questions toward Jax. Sonny arrives at the Penthouse and huddles in a whispered conference with Jason, informing Jason that a new witness has identified Brenda as Alcazar's killer. When Sonny asks if Jason knew about the other witness, Jason informs the Mob Boss that, if Jason had known about another witness, Jason would have discussed it with Sonny before taking any kind of action. Sonny tells Jason that he believes that Jason should take Brenda away that evening. Jason tells Sonny that Brenda is at the Quartermaines and that Jason will go there to pick her up. Courtney and Carly wonder what Jason and Sonny are huddled about, but Carly cautions Courtney against asking too many questions. Jason suddenly asks to speak to Courtney alone and kisses her good-bye, telling her that he may NOT be back for a while but can not explain to her what he is doing! Courtney insists that she understands. Carly tries to figure out what is going on and where Jason has dashed off to but Sonny evades her questions and goes to decorate the tree with Michael. Taggert suddenly barges in and formally arrests Sonny for obstruction of justice. When Taggert demands to know where Morgan is, Courtney angrily informs the police officer that Jason is not at Sonny's Penthouse. Sonny angrily denounces Taggert for arresting him in his own home so close to the holidays, but Taggert reminds Sonny that that is just one of the hazards of Sonny's chosen 'profession.' As Michael clings to Sonny, Taggert tries to reassure Michael that he does NOT plan to hurt Sonny. When Sonny requests a few minutes to explain things to Michael, aggert waits until Sonny has finished, and, while Taggert is waiting, Taggert suddenly asks Courtney if Courtney knows where Jason is. But Courtney pleads ignorance. When Sonny has finished speaking to Michael, Taggert arrests Sonny and they leave for the Port Charles Police Department.

Carly informs Courtney that they now need to go down to the police station to bail Sonny and Jason out of jail. When Courtney questions the need for both of them to go to do that and reminds Carly that they will be leaving Michael alone when they go, Carly informs Courtney that, as long as the man you love often lands in jail, you need to learn the ropes of the system so that you can help. Courtney and Carly finally leave for the PCPD. When Carly arrives, she instantly assumes that Alexis is there to try to weasel her way back into Sonny's life by offering to represent Sonny but Alexis coldly informs Carly that Alexis now deeply regrets everything she ever did to keep Sonny out of jail before and is not likely to make any attempts now to spring her former client. When Sonny sees Alexis, he asks Alexis if she is the one who is responsible for his arrest. Alexis reminds Sonny that she informed him about the new witness and warned him that she would have to report it. Sonny says "You want to trace the bribe? You check Jax's bank account! Unless you are covering for him!' Alexis responds, "It would serve you right if I were!'

Jason arrives at the Port Charles Police Department under arrest and is angry at Carly for dragging Courtney down to the PCPD with her. Then Courtney rages at Taggert that the arrests are not fair. Courtney complains, "It is not fair!' Taggert, "Fair? You want to know what is not fair, Ms. Matthews? Try three failed indictments against your brother for Rico violations. Try years of failed investigations because he made a deal with the FBI, and they sealed his records. Try people that have disappeared or met with accidents or ended up dead in an alley, courtesy of Mr. Morgan. The law is fair. And it has finally come back to bite both of you!' Sonny protests that he and Jason are innocent and Taggert agrees that Taggert is beginning to believe that Brenda really did kill Alcazar!

Marcus gleefully informs Sonny and Jason that they'll remain guests of the city for the holiday. Mike visits Sonny at the PCPD. He tells Sonny he is only visiting as Courtney asked him too. Mike is obviously still angry at Sonny for his faked death. Sonny apologizes for Mike's grief but refuses to ask forgiveness for what he did, he says he did what he had to do. Sonny reminds Mike how angry Sonny was at him the last Christmas season for Mike's lies about Courtney (not telling Sonny he has a sister). Sonny suggests that they call it even and Mike agrees. Mike wants to know if Sonny would be bothered if Brenda goes off with Jax. Sonny insists no that he wants Brenda to be happy. Taggert is ready to process Sonny and haul him off to lock up. A call comes in from Judge Weston who releases Sonny. Sonny tells Jason he didn't call in the favor as he couldn't get a hold of anyone. He promises Jason he will get him uot. Carly arrives and is thrilled her husband is coming home for Christmas. Rick shows up and Sonny realizes Rick is responsible for his release. Tagger is beyond annoyed that Sonny is being released! Sonny isn't happy about Ric's invovlement and tells Ric he isn't his attorney and does not want him working on his behalf. Carly pulls Sonny aside and asks Sonny to have Ric get Jason out of jail that it is about Jason being home for Christmas. Sonny agrees and asks Ric who goes off to make a couple of phone calls. Sonny and Carly return home to a happy reunion with Michael. Christmas music montage to "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" - Ric plays guitar for Liz, scenes from the GH Christmas party, Coleman at Skye's bedside, Courtney standing sadly before the tree in her empty apartment as Jason returns home and they embrace, Sonny kisses a sleeping Michael and Carly as they are curled up on the couch, and ends with Jax and Brenda on their island terrace. Felicia shows up at Sonny's penthouse to tell him about her theories on the witness Ida. She tells him she has a problem with Ida's testimony that Jason paid her off and threatened her and that Brenda killed Alcazar. She asks him if there is anyone who hates Jason enough to set him up. Sonny suggests that A.J. does and is capable of paying off a witness to set up Jason and that he would help Skye as well to have Brenda implicated so she could get her revenge as well. Felicia believes the theory makes sense and asks Sonny if he had Jason threaten Ida. Sonny tells her that he has no reason to want any harm to come of Ida since it would not help him to loose a witness that he could have help him later. Felicia agrees to find out where the police are hiding Ida. She agrees to meet with him and Jason later on the docks.

Carly notices A.J. hanging around Kelly's and annoying Liz. She asks him what he wants now and asks him to leave Kelly's and not to come back. She informs him that Courtney is staying with them at the penthouse and wants nothing to do with him anymore. A.J. tells her that her family will not be together for long since Jason and Sonny will both be going to prison soon. Carly tells him that he will not get Michael either way since Sonny is his only real father and that he is just some scary guy to Michael. She threatens A.J. with a coffee pot to get him to leave. Ric looks on with amusement. Carly and Ric discuss the hidden section of the basement at Kelly's and wonder what it is down there that is walled off. Ric wonders if there are dead bodies downthere hidden. Courtney finds out later that Carly did her a favor by standing up to A.J. for her. She goes to visit her. Carly goes home and accidentally overhears Sonny fill Jason in on what Felicia told him about her theories on who set Jason and Brenda up. Jason agrees that he wouldn't be surprised that A.J. would set him up as revenge and help Skye get revenge as well.

Carly gets upset when she realizes that A.J. is possibly setting up Jason. She asks Sonny to get A.J. and put him back in a meat locker and get him to confess to setting Jason and Brenda up. Sonny tells her to butt out and keep what she knows to herself for a change. He tells her that they have it handled and will get A.J. sooner or later. Courtney comes to visit and thank Carly for helping with A.J. Carly tells her that A.J. will stop at nothing but destroy her family and try to get Michael including using Courtney to do it. Carly lets slip that A.J. is responsible for setting up Jason and Brenda by paying that witness to lie about Jason threatening her and paying her off and seeing Brenda kill Alcazar. Courtney starts to blame herself thinking she caused A.J. to get revenge on Jason. She tells Carly that she will speak to A.J. and get him to confess to setting up Jason. Courtney learns that Sonny and Jason suspect that A.J. bribed the new witness to the Alcazar witness to lie to implicate Brenda and Jason, Courtney insists to Carly that Courtney should try to help in some way, but Carly advises Courtney to stay out of Sonny's plan to prove that A.J. IS connected to Ida.

At the docks, Felicia meets with Jason and Sonny. She tells them she will give them the address to where Ida is hiding if they promise that no harm will be done to her and that she will convince Ida to run away from the police and they can follow her hopefully to the person who paid her off. Sonny assures her that they are just going to have one of their men follow Ida and that Jason will follow A.J. to see what he does and video tape and take pictures of Ida if she meets with A.J. Felicia reports to Sonny that she frightened Ida enough by telling the 'witness' that Sonny was planning to bump Ida off before Ida could testify against Brenda, so that the woman took Felicia's advice to run away. Felicia admits she helped decoy the police guards so Ida would get away. Sonny affirms his belief that Ida will head straight to A.J. and that Jason is watching A.J. with a camera to get proof of Ida meeting A.J.! Jason skulks in the bushes outside and watches the Quartermaine Mansion with a camera.

On the Docks, as Ric and Carly look for a spot for her new club, Carly is too intrigued by the question of the hidden room beneath Kelly's. Later, Ric tries to convince Carly that Ric could restructure Sonny's empire in such a way that Sonny could get out of the mob business. But Carly warns Ric not to get too interested in Sonny's business. Sonny gets a call at the Penthouse from Johnnie, alerting Sonny that Johnny has lost Ida. Sonny decides that, since your average senior citizen could not give Johnnythe slip, Ida has had previous experience with being tailed! Sonny calls Jason to let Jason know that Ida has ditched Johnnie but could resurface at the Quartermaine Mansion to see A.J. When Carly and Ric return to the Penthouse, Ric mentions that he believes Sonny could get out of the Mob by restructuring some of his holdings and Sonny bluntly orders Ric to mind his own business. Sonny then orders Ric to leave. After Ric leaves, Sonny blasts Carly for talking to Ric about Sonny's business and about Carly's desire for Sonny to get out of the mob! Then Sonny explains to his puzzled wife that Sonny believes that it appears that Ric is trying to work on Carly's sympathies by creating the impression that it could be possible for Sonny to escape his mob connections, he is trying to get into a position where Sonny feels like he needs Ric. Sonny doesn't know what Ric's angle is but he doesn't trust him. Then Sonny asks Carly if she still harbors hope that Sonny would be able to leave the mob one day. Carly gently prods Sonny to at least consider the possibility of walking away from a life of crime. Sonny reminds Carly why he's fully committed to the path he's chosen.

Carly says she doesn’t have any regrets and wouldn’t change a thing about them except for when she tried to force Sonny into the witness protection program but doesn’t he ever think about things being different, doesn’t he ever dream of a different life? Sonny says it isn’t worth it, that he has everything he wants with her. He says he’s already made his choices and he can’t go back. Sonny says he’s worked hard for the things he has money, power, respect, Carly. She wonders if he can’t have all those things and have safety. He says he gets so frustrated that she never lets these things drop and changes the topic to her eating raw cookie dough. He finds that annoying and is willing to put up with it because he loves her. The conversation is interrupted by Sonny’s cell phone, getting word that Brenda turned herself in. He apologizes to Carly but takes off to check on Brenda. As soon as he is gone, Carly calls Ric and tells him to get over there before she does something crazy. When he arrives, Ric first apologizes for pushing Sonny to take his business legitimate. She tells him it is important for her to focus on her life and start her club. They look at the blueprints and work orders for the basement of Kelly’s again and wonder what could be behind that wall. Curiosity has the best of them and they decide to go take a look.

Sonny arrives at the police station and he and Jax have some words. Both want to help Brenda and don’t want the other to help. Sonny tells Jax it is his fault Brenda is there that he took her out of the country and made her a fugitive and then couldn’t follow through. Brenda overhears the last part of the conversation and tells Sonny he is wrong, that it was her decision to come back. Brenda is taken away to get processed. Jason shows up, wondering where Brenda is. Scott mocks him as the “concerned little husband.” Alone, Jason and Sonny wonder who paid Ida off if it wasn’t AJ. Just then Ida walks in. She sees Sonny grinning at her and gets spooked. Sonny says hello to her and suggests she has some misunderstanding regarding him. He tells her he hopes she is able to clarify her witness statement. Before Scott can drag her away to check out the lineup, Sonny notices her diamond bracelet. Jason astutely tells Sonny that he thinks Ida is lying. Sonny thinks Ida showing off the bracelet means she is for sale to the highest bidder. They think if not AJ, then perhaps Skye is paying her off and they think all they have to do is pay a higher amount. In the lineup, Ida easily identifies Brenda. Great promo for the New Year's Eve special black and white 20's episode.

In Kelly’s basement, Ric and Carly have arrived to knock down the wall. Bobbie is a little reluctant to go along with it though, and worries that the bricks might actually be holding up the structure. Carly finally gets Bobbie to admit that she is a tiny bit curious, too and then she finally agrees and Ric starts hacking away. Once he gets a decent-sized hole cut away, Carly walks through and is startled, “Oh my God!” Ric and Carly are astounded to discover a speakeasy frozen in time at one minute past midnight on New Year's Eve, 1926. An elderly woman suddenly appears and tells Carly the story of her club's opening night. It opens with Carly as Katherine, Sonny as Marco, AJ as Murphy, Jason as Joe, and Courtney as Violet. Murphy and his men plan on taking Sonny out that night. Kathering and Marco share a dance and some quiet moments before the club opens. He presents her with a beautiful diamond necklace for her to remember the evening. Though Violet urges her fiance to elope with her that very evening, Joe reminds her how Marco wouldn't approve of them running out on Katherine's grand opening. Later, Murphy and his men crash the party long enough to taunt Marco and enrage Joe. Back in the present day, the elderly Katherine continues her saga and describes for Carly and Ric how her dreams all came true on that New Year's Eve. With the bash in full swing, Joe and Violet decide to head to Niagara Falls and tie the knot after the stroke of midnight. Marco slips the mayor a fat bankroll (Scotty) to prevent him from closing down the joint. At midnight, Murphy's men return and spray the club with their machine guns, sending terrified patrons screaming to the floor. Joe leaps to save Marco and is cut down in a hail of bullets. They gather at Joe's funeral, Katerine tells them that he was the heart of their family. After a grief-stricken Violet suffers a nervous breakdown, Marco kills Murphy and dies in prison. Katherine felt forced to send her son away so he wouldn't follow in his father's footsteps.
