Courtney visits Carly in the hospital. Carly admits to her that she is thinking of the memories she has of her and Sonny. Courtney brings up a few good recent memories of how connected Carly and Sonny seemed when she use to watch them together. Carly conjures up the same memories in her mind and starts to cry. Courtney mistakes the tears as meaning that Carly is starting to feel connected to her feelings for Sonny. Carly tells her that she is crying because she can remember everything that happened with Sonny but doesn't feel anything for Sonny, including love. Courtney tells her not to push herself too hard and to give herself some time to heal first. Carly meets with Cameron Lewis. She tells him that she wants to talk to him in confidence and asks him not to tell Sonny what she tells him. He reassures her that what she tells him will remain confidential. She explains that she can't feel anything toward her husband and children and that she is scared and confused about it. Cameron reminds her that she had a bullet lodged in her brain and that her detachment from Sonny and the children is understandable and that she needs to give her brain time to heal and that she possibly could have damaged the part of the brain that connects memory to feelings and that she will have to come to terms with the idea that she may never get those feelings back right away or at all. She confesses to him that she remembers everything that happened to her in her life but feels nothing for anyone she is suppose to love the dreams are more vivid to her than her real life.
Sonny returns to the penthouse and checks on the kids. He asks Courtney how Carly was doing. She tells him that Carly is still confused and out of it still and suggests to him that he not push her too much and that Carly just misses everyone and wants to come home soon. Jason goes to see Carly. Carly admits to him that she doesn't feel anything for Sonny and the children but that she has to pretend that she does love them or she will hurt them especially Michael. Jason tells her that she needs to not push herself too much and let her feelings come back in her own time. He advises her not to lie to Sonny and to tell him what is going on with her and let him help her. Sonny comes back to GH to see Carly. Carly acts like she is so happy to see him. He tells her that he talked to the doctor and that he told him she can go home tomorrow if she wants to. Carly is surprised and tries to sound happy she is going home. She tells him she misses him and the children and can't wait to go home tomorrow. She hugs Sonny. Sonny returns home and tells Michael and them that Carly is coming home tomorrow. Michael is ecstatic but Carly and Jason aren't sure it is quite a good idea right now but smile and pretend they are happy with the news. Alcazar shows up at GH to visit Carly. He finds her room is dark and she isn't in her room and the bed is made up. He asks a nurse if Carly is having tests is suppose to be released tomorrow. He asks her if Carly knows that. The nurse tells him she knows. Alcazar realizes Carly has run off scared. Carly shows up on the docks, with some duffel bags in her hands as if she is going away somewhere.
Carly returns to the penthouse and walks around the penthouse. However, what she starts picturing in her mind is what the penthouse meant to her inher mind, the place she lived in with Alcazar in her dreams. She hears Courtney and Michael coming so she hides out near the balcony. Michael has another card for her and he asks Courtney if Carly will be excited to see him when she comes home later. Courtney reassures him that Carly will be happy to be home and that she just needs to time to start feeling better. Meanwhile, Jason and Sonny learn that Carly checked out of the hospital earlier. They wonder where she went. Jason thinks she went somewhere to be by herself. Sonny becomes concerned. They return home to find that Carly isn't there. Jason advises Sonny not to put pressure on Carly right now. Sonny tells him that once Carly is home everything will be alright. Carly overhears them talking. She also overhears Sonny talking to Michael and sees how excited they are about her return. Morgan starts to cry and Courtney tells Sonny that she is going to get his bottle and go feed him. Sonny tells her he is going to feed Morgan and for her and Jason to go across the hall and get some rest and he will handle everything. Courtney argues with Sonny that he needs her help there with both Morgan and Michael there and with Carly's situation. Sonny insists he can handle things and for them to have some alone time. Courtney still argues about how they need her and how Morgan is use to her feeding him and may get fussy with him. Sonny tells her that he can handle it and that he wants to feed Morgan. Jason sees how attached Courtney has become with Morgan and becomes concerned. He tells her to let Sonny do what he wants and they leave.
Marcella comes to see Alcazar. Alcazar tells her she must leave and that it is important that Carly not see her when she comes. Marcella tells him that Sonny already knows the truth so what does it matter if Carly sees her. Alcazar insists that Carly shouldn't see her. She tells him the real reason he doesn't want Carly to see her is because he doesn't want Carly to know what he did to Sonny by using her. Alcazar tells her to leave. Carly comes to his apartment and knocks on the door. Alcazar tells Marcella that Carly came just like he knew she would. Carly is poised to tell Alcazar that she has feelings for him but is stopped in her tracks when Marcella strolls in. Realizing that Alcazar was using the Lily look alike to destroy Sonny, Carly hauls off and slaps him across the face. Carly heads back home, where she promises Sonny that she will do everything in her power to repair her marriage. Carly continues to fight her dreams of Alcazar and try to appear normal to Sonny. Sonny doesn't buy it, and says that they are both tense due to the pressure of being in Port Charles. He suggests taking Carly and the boys to the island to get away, and she agrees. Courtney stops by to see the kids, and upon hearing that the Corinthos family is leaving for the island, she begs to keep Michael and Morgan with her and Jason. She disguises her reasoning as concern for Carly's mental state, and hides her disappointment when both Sonny and Michael insist that the entire family go to the island.
Carly tries to enjoy the island with Sonny. He tells her that it will take time to get things normal again, and this makes Carly comfortable and she begins to open up. She admits that she feels better than she has since she's woken up from her coma. She tells Sonny that she wants to be with him and be a family, but agrees that he needs to be patient. Sonny tells her he will do anything she wants, and they begin to kiss. Michael interrupts them, wanting to go to the beach, and Sonny obliges with Carly's consent. While they are gone, she begins to dream about Sonny, but it quickly turns into a dream of Alcazar, and she wakes in tears. Hearing her cries, Sonny runs to Carly and asks her what is wrong. Sonny tries to comfort Carly, but tells her that he feels helpless when he doesn't know what she's feeling. Carly finally tells him about her dreams, which seem more real than her own life. She feels disconnected from her life, from her marriage, even from her children. She remembers their life together before the coma, but admits that she doesn't feel the emotions. The dreams are what feel real. In the dreams, her life was inverted. Alcazar was a loving man, a college professor who she had married when she first arrived in Port Charles. And it was Sonny who wanted to break up her marriage. She did have feelings for Sonny, even in the dream. "The way you have feelings for Alcazar now, even though you don't want to?" Sonny asks her, and Carly can't deny it. She loves the Alcazar from the dream. Michael and Morgan interrupt the conversation, and Carly is distracted for a moment.
When she looks up, Sonny is gone. Knowing that he must be on his way back to Port Charles to kill Alcazar, she phones Jason and begs him to stop Sonny. Then she flies after Sonny. On the plane, she attempts to get in touch with Sonny, and pours out her heart to his machine, telling him that she is committed to their marriage and their children. She just wants him to wait for her. Sonny arrives at Jason's for his gun. Jason tries to convince Sonny to wait, to let Jason set up Alcazar's death. But this is personal, and Sonny needs to do it himself. Jason understands, and doesn't get in Sonny's way. Alcazar begins making plans to leave Port Charles, including telling an unhappy Sage that she must go back to school, because he can no longer offer her a home. Faith shows up and offers to work for him, moving his product locally while he is gone. Alcazar refuses, since he still hates her for her threats against Carly. When Alcazar leaves his building, Sonny is waiting for him, and shoots. Carly comes running up to stop him. Moments later, the police show up. Alcazar, apparently unhurt as he is wearing a bullet proof vest, tells Sonny that Carly warned him that Sonny was coming. Sonny makes a run for it and almost gets run over by Sam. He pulls her out of her car and holds her as a hostage.
Jason gives Carly a cold, hard dose of reality, warning her that he's not sure that Sonny will be able to forgive her for contacting Alcazar. While holding Sam hostage, Sonny tells her about the problems between him and Carly. Sam convinces him that Carly was only doing what she thought she needed to keep him safe. He releases Sam and he makes his way back to Carly at the penthouse. Just as she begins to tell Alcazar that she might be in love with him. Sonny walks in on them. Carly orders Alcazar to leave, and she and Sonny begin to argue. Carly swears that she did not call the police to set him up, but that she only called Alcazar so that Sonny wouldn't commit murder. Sonny tells Carly that no matter what happens, he will always love her. Carly says that while she can't help her feelings due to her brain injury, she does not want to see him throw his life away. She insists that it never occurred to her that Alcazar would call the police, but that she was just trying to save Sonny from himself. Sonny admits that Sam said the same thing to him, and he begins to believe it. Carly then tells Sonny to love their kids enough to save himself.
Courtney turns on the news to hear that Sonny has barricaded himself in his penthouse. She runs out of the room to Sonny's apartment. She arrives to find Mike in front of the building with swarms of police. She fills him in on what has been going on, and nearby, Scott orders the police to shoot Sonny. Upon learning that Sonny is in his penthouse, Brian tells Scott that he is going into the building to try and negotiate with him. Scott tells Capelli that he can take Sonny out, and Alcazar reminds Scott that Carly is up there too. Capelli, Brian, Lucky, and the other officers ride up the elevator to the penthouse floor, and Capelli orders everyone to shoot Sonny if they get the chance. Unarmed, Sonny walks out of his apartment into the hallway in front of the police and they all take aim. Unbeknownst to the officers, Jason is behind them and grabs Capelli's arm as he shoots at Sonny, causing him to miss. Brian's shot, however, hits Sonny in the arm, causing him to run back into his penthouse to Carly. Jason is handcuffed for police interference, and as he is taken away he questions Capelli on his shoot to kill agenda. Once Jason gets out of the building, he sees Courtney and tells her that Brian shot Sonny.
Carly tells Sonny that no matter what happens, he is her husband and they need to figure out a way to get him out of the penthouse alive. She refuses to leave him, and demands that she stand between Sonny and the officer's line of fire as they walk into the hallway. In the hall, Lucky ignores Capelli and helps Sonny and Carly out of the building. As Carly arrives at the hospital to visit Sonny, she overhears Scott gloating to reporters that a speedy conviction of Sonny will be a slam dunk. When Carly sees Sonny, she assures her husband that she understands that he was provoked and that everything will work out. Scott suddenly barges in and announces that Samantha has been arrested as Sonny's accomplice, since Samantha provided the get-away car for Sonny as Sonny fled the scene, following his attempt to murder Alcazar. While Sonny and Scott argue, Carly slips into the hall and calls Alcazar, asking for a meeting.
Later, after Jason is bailed out of jail, Jason visits Sonny in the Hospital. Sonny confides that he believes that Scott and Alcazar conspired together to trump up the attempted murder charge. Sonny is cheered when Jason reports that Samantha had no plans to testify against Sonny, but Jason also reports that Jax had just arrived at the PCPD to see Samantha as Jason was leaving. Jason assures Sonny that Jason will be able to fix things. Carly meets with Alcazar and informs Alcazar that he will never see her again if Lorenzo testifies against Sonny. Carly is surprised when Alcazar agrees not to testify against Sonny, but warns Carly that if Sonny gets off the hook this time, it will only mean that Sonny will probably make another attempt on Lorenzo's life soon. After Jason leaves Sonny's room, Ric visits Sonny and informs the him that, as the police see it, Samantha McCall had to be either an innocent victim who was forced at gunpoint to drive away with Sonny or Samantha was a willing accomplice who conspired to drive Sonny away from the scene of the crime. Ric warns that Samantha will go to jail if she does not press kidnapping charges against Sonny. Declaring that he does not want an innocent bystander like Sam to suffer for Sonny's mistakes, Sonny confesses to Ric that he did kidnap Samantha. Just at that moment, Carly returns and tries to stop Sonny but Sonny insists that it is too late. After Ric leaves, Carly tries to convince Sonny to get the confession of kidnapping disallowed as evidence, but Sonny refuses, explaining again that he doesn't want an innocent bystander to suffer for Sonny's mistakes.
Sam goes to see Sonny to ask him why he won't let her tell the police that he didn't kidnap her against her will. He tells her that he can't allow her to be charged with aiding and abetting on his account and thanks her for trying to help him. He asks her what she is getting out it by helping him this way anyway. Jax comes into Sonny's hospital room and tells Sam he wants to know why also. She tells Jax that it doesn't concern him and that she is helping Sonny because she knows how it feels to have someone think she betrayed them when she didn't and she knows that Sonny and Carly love each other and understood why Sonny did what he did. Jax doesn't like to hear her take his side. Sonny also wonders what her relationship with Jax is. Sonny thanks her for trying to help but refuses to let her take the fall for something he did and asks her to leave. Jax escorts her out.
Carly shows up to talk to Jason. Jason tells her not to worry about him right now and the main thing to do is to help Sonny get out of this mess he is in. She tells him she has found a way that she can help Sonny but warns him he won't like it. Alcazar walks in. Carly explains to Jason that Alcazar will drop the charges against Sonny. Jason asks him what is in it for him and is suspicious. He tells him that he wants things to be on equal footing between him and Sonny but admits he is doing it because Carly asked him to. Jason doesn't see how Alcazar can help since there were a few cops around as witnesses to Sonny shooting him and taking Sam hostage. Alcazar explains that by dropping the charges, Sonny's lawyers can charge that the police tried to entrap him. Alcazar leaves Carly to talk to Jason. Alcazar tells Ric that he is dropping all charges against Sonny and that there shouldn't be a trial. Ric disagrees with him and says he can still subpoena him and use him as a hostile witness. Alcazar warns him about that and makes a remark about Elizabeth as a way to subtly threaten him. Jason comes down hard on Carly for asking Alcazar for help knowing how Sonny will feel about that when he finds out. He tells her that Sonny will never allow Alcazar to do him any favors. Carly insists she is just using Alcazar to keep Sonny out of prison so he can help her raise their children.
Carly heads to GH to tell Sonny what she did. Alcazar shows up at Sonny's room while they are talking. Sonny tells Alcazar that he won't allow him to help him and that he will take his chances on his own. Dara comes to see him later and advises him to take the plea bargain of serving 5 years in prison. He tells her that he can't go to prison because he has too many enemies there who will kill him. Dara tells him she thinks he should take it but promises to find some other strategy instead. Jason shows up to see Sonny. Sonny tells him he knows about what Carly did and that Alcazar is playing savior again for Carly's benefit and he won't let him. He tells Jason that Dara is too by the book for them to use right now and that he needs a lawyer who isn't afraid to fight dirty and be underhanded for them. Jason tells him he knows exactly who they need for his lawyer but only needs to find out where he is. The next scene shows an older monk talking to Justus Ward asking him if he is ready to take his vows of silence and give up his old life and be celibate for life. Justus answers that he is ready.
Carly talks to Alcazar later out near the waiting area. She tells him that she wants Sonny to stay out of prison and that her children need their father around. He tells her that he still plans to drop the charges against Sonny but that he will wait until trial to help get him exonerated when he takes the stand and that Sonny won't know about it until it is too late. Carly comes over to see Sonny in his room. He wakes up to find her watching him. Scott shows up to inform them that the doctor feels Sonny is ready to be released from GH later today and that he has a nice small cell ready for him when they transfer him to jail. Scott tells them that Ric told him that Sonny is claustrophobic so he will make sure he gets the smallest cell. Carly tells him that is a form of cruel and unusual punishment since he knows Sonny is claustrophobic. Scott tells them that he doesn't care what Sonny wants and never did and storms off. Carly goes to follow Scott out. Sonny calls out to her to leave him alone. Carly finds Courtney coming around the corner on her way to see them. Carly tells Courtney that Ric told Scott that Sonny is claustrophobic and that Scott managed to get him released today be sent to jail. Courtney tells her she will see what she can to and talk to Brian. Carly goes back in to see Sonny. Sonny suggests that she lean against the door and let him make a run for the door and slam his arm against it to cause further injury so the doctors will have to let him stay longer. Carly doesn't want him to get more injuries and asks him to trust her to take care of things even if he has no reason to. Carly goes to talk to Bobbie.
Carly asks Bobbie for help in delaying Sonny's release. Bobbie thinks she should not interfere and let Sonny get out of his own messes this time. Carly tells her she can't sit by and watch Sonny go to jail for something that she is partly responsible for. Jason goes to the monastery to see Justus. He assumes that Justus is there to be a lawyer for the monastery. The older monk tells him that isn't exactly the case and opens the door to Justus' room. Jason looks in and is can't believe it when he sees Justus dressed as a monk sitting on his bed. Jason is left alone with him. Justus stays silent like he vowed to and Jason asks him what is going on. Justus doesn't answer him so Jason tells Justus that he checked up on his activities since he left Port Charles and knows about the kid who he defended in court for murder, which he lost and how he thinks he is punishing himself too much by becoming a monk. Jason tells him that he knows why he is doing this and to him it is just another way of hiding from his life and that no matter whether he takes a vow of silence or what, he can't escape his past.
Justus finally speaks and tells him that he compromised his morals too much and that his drinking got so heavy that he ignored the man he was defending and that by the time he tried to fix it, it was too late. Jason tells him that he isn't the person he thought he was if he continues to hide from his life by being a monk and walks out. Carly and Bobbie show up at Sonny's hospital room. Bobbie tells him that she is going to give him a mild sedative to ease his transition to jail. Sonny allows her to give him a shot but doesn't think it will matter. Later, Jason shows up at GH to find Courtney waiting for him. She tells him to hurry because Scott is going to transfer him to jail right now. Jason and Courtney head over to Sonny's room right behind Scott and some cops, including Brian. Scott comes in the room to find Sonny's bed made up with no sign of Sonny. Jason comes in the room with Courtney. Scott accuses Jason of hiding Sonny somewhere and orders the cops to arrest him. Courtney tells Scott that Jason just got here and he knows as much as she does, which is nothing. When the cops go to arrest Jason, a voice is heard behind them. Justus walks in and surprises everyone, but pleases Jason when he is dressed in a suit and tie and tells Scott that nothing has changed since he left Port Charles the police continue to falsely arrest and harass Jason and Sonny on a daily basis. Brian asks Scott who that man is. Scott informs him that is Justus Ward, another black sheep of the Quartermaine family. Justus looks at Scott and says that in a way he is a black sheep.
On a private plane, Carly sits on a couch with a drugged Sonny, who wakes up feeling a little dizzy and disoriented. He asks her where they are. Carly tells him that Bobbie must have given him too much of a sedative and he may still feel drowsy. Sonny is amused to learn that Bobbie helped them by drugging him. Carly tells him that Bobbie helped her get him out of the hospital without anyone knowing it. She tells Sonny that this means they are on the run together. Sonny and Carly's relationship starts to heal while they share alone time at the chateau on the French countryside. Sonny and Carly attempt to make new memories. They kiss, and Sonny wants to make sure that Carly is ready. She reassures him that she is, and they begin to make love. As things progress, Sonny stops her and says that they are both rushing and needn't do so. Rattled, Carly instantly begins to doubt her actions of taking Sonny out of the country and making him a fugitive when she is suffering from brain damage and is unsure of her feelings. Sonny smiles and reassures her that she loves him, she just doesn't know it yet. He continues to try and help Carly feel better, but she still can't get her feelings back. She fears that the old Carly is gone forever, but Sonny refuses to believe it. The two reminisce on their life together.
Courtney arrives at the island to take the kids away. As Leticia finishes packing their things, police knock at the door. They barge into the room with a state child services representative who demands the children immediately. Courtney pretends to be their mother and have no knowledge of who Sonny Corinthos is. She demands that they police leave them alone and says they are out of their jurisdiction and cannot have her children. The social worker spots a photograph of Sonny, but Courtney says he must be the owner of the place and that she is only renting it. She also denies knowing Jason, and Michael plays along with her act. Courtney continues to argue with them until gunshots erupt, causing everyone to duck and hit the floor. While they are down, Jason runs in and grabs Courtney and the kids. Alcazar discovers Sonny and Carly's whereabouts and shows up in their room in France while they are out walking. He witnesses them discussing their problems, and upon seeing them hug, he assumes they are having a close moment and reconnecting to each other. Back in the room, Carly sees Alcazar outside the window and is startled by his presence. Her thoughts are interrupted by the arrival of Jason, Courtney, and the kids. Sonny happily watches Carly connect with their baby. Outside, an angry Alcazar calls Scott and promises to testify against Sonny.
Jason advises Courtney that, once Sonny and Carly go into hiding with Michael and Morgan, it will not be safe for Jason or Courtney to contact them in any way. Sonny and Carly discuss the difficulties they will face when they go into hiding, including not being able to ever again contact Mike or Bobbie. Sonny and Carly bid Jason and Courtney a tearful farewell. Sonny has some private time alone with Morgan and declares that he believes it will be unfair to his children to go on the run. Then Sonny abruptly leaves. When Carly returns to the nursery and finds Sonny gone, Carly is alarmed when the nanny reports that Sonny announced that he had some unfinished business at home. Carly concludes that Sonny has returned to Port Charles. Carly demands that Jason get her back to Port Charles as soon as possible so that Carly can testify for Sonny if Sonny insists on standing trial on the attempted murder and kidnapping charges.
In court, Scott and Ric wonder if Justus will be able to prove that Alcazar conspired with the police to entrap Sonny. As the same time, Justus reminds Alcazar that if Lorenzo's testimony gets Sonny convicted, Carly would never be able to forgive Lorenzo and Carly would be lost to Alcazar forever. When the trial gets under way, Ric presents the prosecution's case against Sonny. Jax is devastated when Sam takes the stand and insists that Sonny did not kidnap her. Scott and Ric object to Sam contradicting her own statements. Ric returns to Sam and finally gets Sam to admit that Sonny did not drop his weapon when the police instructed him to drop his weapon. Ric also gets Sam to admit that Sonny dragged her into her vehicle and ordered her to drive away, while waving his gun in her face. Justus tries to put a spin on Ric's examination by encouraging Samantha to detail Sonny's belief that Sonny had been set up by Alcazar and the police. When the trial resumes, Justus tries to get Alcazar to admit that he conspired with the police to entrap Sonny, but Scott objects and Lorenzo insists that there was no collusion between himself and the police. The Court Room is shocked when Sonny suddenly bursts in and declares that he believes that he ought to be present at his own trial.
Sonny suprises the courtroom when he shows up as the trial is about to reconvene. The judge allows him to come and sit down at the defense table. Scott calls up Alcazar as his next witness. He asks him about who called him to warn him that Sonny may be on his way to kill him. Alcazar informs the court that Carly called him because she loves him and was trying to protect him. Carly comes into the courtroom as Alcazar is testifying. Carly glares at Alcazar for testifying against Sonny after he had told her he wouldn't help the prosecution. Alcazar also mentions that Sonny had already shot his wife in the head and had shot him once before. Sonny just listens and shakes his head. Justus cross-examines Alcazar about what he had done to Carly, who he claims he is in love with. He brings up how he had kidnapped her once and that he paid for some woman he hired to look identical to Sonny's late wife Lily to haunt Sonny to get him away from Carly so he could have her. Alcazar doesn't deny any of the allegations Justus accuses him of but manages to paint a picture of Sonny as a violent man.
Carly gets up on the stand next. Scott goes after her aggressively on the stand for warning Alcazar about Sonny coming after him. She admits she called Alcazar to warn him but not because she loved him but because she was afraid for her husband and what he may do. Scott asks her if she loves Alcazar and that is why she warned him. She tells him she doesn't know how she feels about Alcazar. Scott tries to paint Carly as a slut in court to discredit her testimony when she accuses the cops and Alcazar of trying to entrap Sonny by showing up. Sonny stands up when Scott crosses the line and tries to tarnish her character. He warns Scott to back off. The judge bangs his gavel and warns Justus to calm down his client, who was very close to being held in contempt of court. He surprises Scott when he tells him he crossed the line and warns him to back off. Scott backs off and smiles since he got Sonny to react aggressively in court. Ric gets up and calls Sonny to the stand. Sonny told Justus when he first showed up that he wasn't going to just sit back and not testify. Sonny gets on the stand. Ric questions him about his real business. Sonny smiles at Ric and announces he owns an imported coffee warehouse. He questions him about his rivalry with Alcazar as being about business. Sonny tells him that Alcazar has nothing to do with his business and admits to trying to kill Alcazar because he went after his wife. Justus gets up to re-direct questions for Sonny's defense. He asks Sonny to tell him about what Alcazar did to make him feel that his wife's life was threatened in some way. Sonny tells the court that Alcazar went after his wife and went so far as to kidnap her and then hire someone to pretend to be his late wife. Scott asks Ric why he isn't objecting at all. Ric tells him to let him finish. Justus tells the judge that the defense rests after Sonny testifies. Justus' closing statement tries to make Sonny look like he was just protecting his family from Alcazar. The judge orders everyone to leave and return the next morning after they deliberate and come up with a verdict. Sonny is taken away in handcuffs. Alcazar runs into Capelli, the cop that is on his payroll and tells him that if Sonny is acquitted because of jury tampering and walks out of this courtroom tomorrow, he orders him to shoot and kill Sonny right there at the courthouse. Brian, the new cop, watches them speaking and gets suspicious. Alcazar watches Carly from the doorway. Carly turns around after Sonny leaves in handcuffs. She looks at Alcazar and glares.
Alcazar talks with Capelli outside the courtroom and orders him to take Sonny out if he is acquitted and walks out and suspects Sonny may have tampered with the jury if he is acquitted. Capelli, the dirty cop assures him that he will get it right this time. Alcazar tells him to make sure he doesn't miss this time. Brian approaches Capelli and makes a remark about how close he seems to be with Alcazar. Meanwhile, Carly and Courtney go to the police station to wait for their turn to see Sonny before the verdict is in. Justus is in there with him right now to talk to him. Carly worries about how bad Sonny's night must have been in lock-up. Justus comes out of the visitor's room. Carly asks him how he is doing and Justus tells her he seems o.k. Carly tells him that keeping Sonny locked up like that is cruel and unusual punishment with his claustrophobia and threatens to sue the police department for it. Justus advises her to calm down. Carly goes into the visitor's room and asks him how he is holding up. He tells her it wasn't too bad last night.
Everyone goes to the courthouse to find out the verdict. The press are right there to question Carly about Sonny. Carly says no comment and is escorted inside the courtroom by Justus. Scott tells the press that the verdict is in and that since the jury came back with one so quickly means that Sonny is going to be found guilty. They all go inside the courtroom where the judge arrives as well as Sonny. The jury is called into the room and the verdict is about to be read. The jury foreman reads the verdict as not guilty on counts of attempted murder and kidnapping. Scott is stunned and gets upset and asks to know what the voting numbers were from the jury. When it is revealed that the jury voted not guilty unanimously, Scott asks the judge to put aside the jury's verdict and to give Sonny a guilty verdict. The judge denies Scott's request and tells Scott that the trial was fair and the jury's verdict was fair. Scott asks Ric how Sonny was found not guilty when he even admitted to kidnapping Sam and for shooting Alcazar. Ric tells him that Sonny was persuasive with the jury and got them on his side. Scott storms off furiously. Detective Capelli waits in the hallway and gets ready to shoot Sonny as he comes out of the courtroom with Carly. As Capelli is taking his gun out of his ankle holster to shoot Sonny, Jason grabs him from behind and throws him against the wall to stop him. Brian is right there and demands to know who hired him. Capelli denies he is working for anyone other than the police and that Brian can't prove he did anything. Brian realizes he doesn't have enough proof to haul him in and lets him go. Jason can't believe that Brian is allowing Capelli to go free. Brian tells him that he doesn't have any proof to have Capelli arrested and that Jason must know that in his line of business since he gets away with a lot as well.
Sonny and Carly go to Kelly's to celebrate Sonny's acquittal. Bobbie has champagne waiting there. She congradulates Sonny on being cleared of charges. Mike and Courtney join in the celebration. Courtney keeps waiting for Jason to show up at Kelly's. Carly notices it and tells her that she has a feeling that Courtney and Jason will get back together soon. Courtney can't deny that she misses Jason and wants to see him show up. Alcazar shows up outside Kelly's. Ric also shows up and comes inside. Carly and Courtney aren't too pleased to see him there. He goes over to talk to Sonny. He congratulates Sonny on his acquittal and thinks Sonny won that verdict fair and square by convincing the jury to take his side. Sonny doesn't buy it and accuses Ric of trying to go after him again. Elizabeth steps in and defends Ric and asks Sonny if he is the one who is stuck in the past and that maybe Ric was just impressed with how Sonny acted at his trial. Sonny tells her that he doesn't think he is stuck in the past.
Jason grabs Alcazar before he goes inside Kelly's. He tells him to stay away from Carly and Sonny. He also tells him that he knows that Capelli works for him and tried to shoot Sonny today outside the courtroom. He suggests that Alcazar stay away from Carly and that he is now on to what he is trying to do and that he shouldn't rely on Capelli to do the job since he hasn't succeeded so far. Alcazar tells him that he doesn't have to kill Sonny since he already has Carly's love and that is all he needs. Carly comes out of Kelly's and overhears Alcazar say that she loves him. She tells him that he is wrong and that she doesn't love him and that what was in her dream wasn't real and that with everything he has done to her and Sonny she can't love him. She tells Alcazar that she may not feel the way she use to about Sonny right now but she knows that in time she will love him again and plans to stay with him. She starts to have a sharp pain in her head and then passes out. Alcazar goes to reach for her but Sonny comes outside and pushes Alcazar away from her.
An angry Carly yells at Alcazar to leave her alone. Suddenly, she's overcome with head pain and collapses. Jason calls 911, and they take Carly away in an ambulance. Behind at Kelly's, Courtney tells Alcazar that he doesn't love Carly, he's just obsessed. At the hospital, Monica informs Sonny that Carly's tests appear normal, and her collapse seems unrelated to her prior head injury. Carly wakes up and tells Sonny that she had a dream about him. She describes her dream and how she loved him in it. Sonny and Jason take her back to the penthouse and her family, and she finally reconnects with them again. Michael senses it and says what everyone realizes-Carly is back. She tells them that she can feel her love for them again. Alcazar attempts to pump Bobbie for information on Carly, but she brushes him off. After she reminds him that nothing means more to Carly than her family, Alcazar unsuccessfully tries to find out what's going on from Carly's doctor. He's clearly frustrated when Faith arrives at his apartment to break the news of Sonny and Carly's reunion. She further mentions that Carly had a breakthrough at the hospital, and has regained all of her suppressed feelings for her husband and family. Alcazar tries to spin Faith's news as her attempt to manipulate him into goIng after Sonny for her but she reminds him that he is the one who really needs to get rid of Sonny.
Jason reports to Sonny that Faith hijacked their shipment, and that she needs to be dealt with. Ric arrives in the middle of their discussion to warn Sonny that he had better not start another war with Faith. He lectures Sonny on how he received a second chance and ought not throw it away because if anything were to happen to Faith, he would be the prime suspect. Instead, he suggests, Sonny should find a way to coexist peacefully with Faith. Once Ric is gone, Jason reminds Sonny that Faith has no interest in coexisting. Jason also breaks the news that Courtney is not moving back in with him because she can't get over his actions regarding Sonny's shooting of Alcazar. Rather than offer advice on how to fix the situation, Sonny stuns Jason when he suggests to him that he let Courtney go. It hits home to Jason that he must choose between the life he leads and the woman he loves. At the penthouse, Sonny and Carly share in their renewed love. She reiterates to him how she can feel her love again and is filled with happiness, but Sonny doesn't seem convinced. As Carly attempts to prove it to him, Michael runs into the room and reminds both of his parents that they now have everything that they could want.
That evening, Carly and Sonny are finally able to show each other their feelings again, and they begin to make love. Alcazar's voice in the hall interrupts their happy moment. Sonny is all too pleased when Alcazar bursts in and he is shocked to see Carly on the couch and clearly in a close moment with her husband. They inform Lorenzo that Carly and Sonny are an item and Alcazar needs to get out of Carly's life for good. Alcazar remains unconvinced, until Carly herself declares that she has fully recovered her memory of her life with Sonny and plans to stay with her husband. Lorenzo coldly warns Carly that it will not be long before Sonny hurts her again then walks out. After Lorenzo leaves, Carly warns Sonny not to make another attempt on Lorenzo's life. Carly assures Sonny that he is the only one whom she loves. As Sonny and Carly toast the season, they are thrilled when Leticia returns with Michael and Morgan. As Carly dances around the Penthouse living room with Michael and Morgan, Lorenzo sadly remembers the tender moments he once shared with Carly.
Sonny surprises Carly by announcing to her that he made arrangements with their priest to have Morgan christened later today despite the busy holiday season at church. He also informs her that he invited Bobbie and Mike and they accepted. Carly is happy with the news and they head over to Kelly's to tell Jason and Courtney the news since they want them as Morgan's godparents. Carly tells Jason about the christening later and is surprised when he suggests not going to the ceremony in person since Courtney will want to be there and it may be uncomfortable for her to see him. Carly persuades him to stand up for Morgan as his godfather and that Courtney wouldn't want him to miss it because of her. Sonny talks to Courtney, who is hesitant about being the godmother and going to the church since she feels Jason will do a good job as godfather but she has reservations about herself. Sonny persuades her that she will be a wonderful godmother to Morgan and that everything will turn out alright. Everyone shows up at the church for the christening. Jason and Courtney show up together late but act as Morgan's godparents. Sonny had lit a candle and talked to Stone's spirit and told him that he named his son after both Jason and him and that he will someday tell Morgan about him and how he dealt well with what was handed to him.
Alcazar has his men find out where Carly is when Max shows up with a gun and points it at Alcazar when he opens the door. Max tells him he has a message to give him from Sonny and Alcazar lets him in. Max keeps the gun on him and tells him to stay away from Carly when he asks him where she is and if she had another relapse. Max won't tell him where she is and keeps the gun pointed at him. Alcazar is surprised when Sage hits Max over the head with her hairdryer. Alcazar tells her she shouldn't have interfered with his business by knocking Max out when he wasn't going to kill him. Sage tells him she didn't know that and promises to stay out of it from now on. He tells her to go find Dillon and leave him alone. She suggests to him that maybe he should stay away from Carly if that is what Max warned him to do. Alcazar tells her he can't walk away from this right now. Alcazar shows up at the christening and watches from the doorway. Sonny offers a big donation to the church. The priest thanks him but asks him for help with something else. He explains to Sonny and Jason that every year they have a Christmas party for the poor and disadvantaged children in the community and that each child receives a present and that the truck that delivers each toy broke down and they need a van or truck to haul the gifts for the party. Sonny tells Jason to see what he can do to help. Jason promises to help get it done for the priest. Courtney overhears him and is touched by Jason's generous heart. Alcazar watches Carly and Sonny and their family and returns home in a bad mood.
Carly and Sonny are at GH for her checkup to make sure she was okay to leave the hospital after her collapse. She reassures Sonny that she is going to be fine and that she can come home. They stop by Kelly's to pick up Michael to go to the church. A snow storm hits Port Charles and Jason is driving the load of Christmas presents to the church when he sees a woman dressed in white standing by the road as if she is stranded. He stops his car and gets out to help her. As he gets closer he realizes it is Faith but one of her men hits him in back of the head and knocks him unconscious. Faith tells her men to get the product that Jason has in his vehicle and she calls Sonny. Sonny has no interest in talking to her but she tells him that she has something he wants and that to meet her at Pier 17. She makes a remark about Jason moving product on her territory. Sonny realizes she has Jason and he has to go to the pier to help Jason. Courtney becomes worried for Jason's safety but stays at Kelly's with Courtney and Michael.
Carly tries to persuade Courtney to not give up on her marriage to Jason so quickly and give it another chance. Courtney isn't sure they can live together and she can't deal with the decisions he makes in his business sometimes. Sonny shows up on the docks to find Zander holding a gun to a tied up Jason. A big crate is there as well. Faith tells him that he was moving his product on her territory without her permission but that for the right price she will let him have it back and Jason if he will agree to cooperate with her and show her some respect. Sonny has fun with her by telling her to open the crate and that there are going to be a lot of people upset with him right now if that shipment doesn't make it. Faith opens the crate to find a load of toys inside and thinks he is hiding stuff inside the dolls and toys. Sonny informs her that the toys are legitimate and that he was sending them to the church to give to some poor children. Suddenly, a woman screams as she runs down to the pier and to try and grab her young daughter before she runs too close to the water. Sonny grabs the little girl before she falls into the water. The woman thanks Sonny and leaves. Faith lets them all go including Jason. Sonny tells Faith that she is too arrogant and sloppy to be able to be successful in her business. Everyone shows up at the church. Sonny finds Faith sitting in the church as the children get their toys. He tells her she did a good thing by bringing the toys to the church for him. She tells him that she had a crummy childhood herself and could feel for the children.
Sonny surprises Carly with a beautiful necklace for her to wear to the casino opening. Sonny and Carly are surprised to see Courtney enter the casino as Brian's date (her and Jason have broken up). Jason sees them and isn't too pleased. Carly waves to Courtney. Courtney waves back and smiles but then asks Brian to go to another table so they can avoid the stares of her family, who will want to know why she is there with him. Carly manages to find them later and dismisses Brian after making a snide remark about how he was the cop who shot her husband. He apologizes for what happened and tells her it was an accident. She tells Courtney that Jason is here with them and she should go play the tables with him instead since Jason is always so lucky at cards and gambling because he doesn't care if he wins or loses. Courtney looks over and sees Jason and is upset. She tells Brian that she didn't think he would come tonight and that she can't be here right now. She runs out of the casino. Skye gives a toast to the casino and to the guests for coming to the opening. Alcazar shows up and sees Carly and Sonny together. He goes onto the pier and assembles his men to go and raid the casino. He instructs Capelli, the dirty cop, not to make any mistakes this time. They show up with guns and fire them to get everyone's attention and rob the place. Sonny goes over to conceal himself near the bar and Carly motions to him that she is going to go on deck to get help while no one is looking. She gets onto the deck and pulls out her cell-phone to call for help. A man in a ski mask grabs her from behind and shuts off her phone. He spins her around and kisses her. She asks him who he is and why he kissed her. As the men run out, a gunshot is fired, and Sonny, Carly, and Scott run to see who was hit. No one recognizes the dead man, and Carly assumes he was the one who grabbed and kissed her, until Alcazar emerges from the corner and says he was the one who killed the man. She is immediately suspicious. Scott accuses Sonny of being behind the robbery, but Sonny is also suspicious of Alcazar. Back at his apartment, Alcazar meets with Capelli to look over all the stolen goods, but Alcazar declares that he did it all for one kiss. Later, Scott arrives and proves to be Alcazar's accomplice, although he is irritated at his motives. Back on the boat, Carly recounts the events of the masked man, and she and Sonny discuss the possibility of Alcazar's guilt. Suddenly, she doubles over, overcome by head pain.
Carly's medical tests come back normal, but she continues to have head pain and flashes of light with visions. She overhears Cameron tell Sonny that although her symptoms might get worse; she is healthy and can leave the hospital. He says the best they can do is to wait and see how things continue. Back at the Penthouse, she continues to have erotic flashes, and begins to hastily seduce Sonny. The two make love, and she tells him about the visions she's having of him with her. They continue until Sonny's guard interrupts them in preparation for Sonny's trip out of town. After he is gone, Carly has another flash, but this time she sees the face of the man in her vision and is distraught when she realizes that it's not Sonny, but Alcazar.
Sam asks Sonny to let her get on his jet and reminds him he owes her a favor for helping him before. Sonny didn't forget and asks her what is going on with her. She tells him she has to leave town now and that it is too complicated to get into right now. Sonny sits down and tells her he has the time and to tell him. She tells him that she needs to get out of town and that the gunshots he heard were aimed at her. Sonny listens to her and asks her why she didn't go to Jax for help. She tells him that they are history. Sonny tells her he wants to show her something. He opens up her duffle bag and empties the contents, which are the jewels and coins from the treasure. He tells her that the one thing she needs to know about him is that he doesn't like being lied to. She tells him she didn't lie to him but he disagrees. She tells him the treasure rightfully belongs to her and that she needs to get out of the country. Sonny tells her that the jet belongs to him and that he gives the orders. She tells him where she wants to go. Sonny calls the pilot and tells him where to land the plane to drop her off. She lets him take a diamond necklace to bring back to Carly as a gift. They land on some island. The pilot comes over to them and tells Sonny that the plane has a fuel leak, most likely caused by the gunshots fired at Sam before they took off from Port Charles. She tells him that she is going to hitch a ride on some boat and will be fine on her own. He goes to walk her out but a tropical rain storm hits and they go back inside some small building. Sonny finds himself stranded with Sam there waiting for his jet to be fixed.
Carly goes to the park to get some fresh air. She sees another white flash of light after her head starts to hurt and sees another erotic dream involving Alcazar and her. She cries out in pain and asks for God to stop it from happening anymore. she starts to stumble while walking away and almost falls. Alcazar grabs her arm to keep her from falling and offers to help her. She tells him to go away and leave her alone. When he grabs her arm and keeps it there she remembers the kiss she got from the masked man at the casino. She guesses that he is the one who kissed her at the casino wearing a ski mask. He admits he was the masked man who kissed her. He tells her he still loves her and wants her to be with him. Jason watches from the bushes and wonders what is going on.
Carly continues to have flashes of white light and erotic dreams. She also sees Alcazar in them and keeps reliving that kiss she got from the masked man at the casino. She calls Jason and makes it sound like an emergency. Jason comes rushing over thinking Carly is in danger. Carly apologizes for calling him like that and overreacting. Jason presses her to tell him what is going on and what she is so afraid of. Carly asks him if he ever saw flashes of white light and have intense dreams along with them when he had his coma. Jason tells her he never experienced those things after his coma. Carly starts to get worried but won't tell Jason exactly what is wrong but that she is afraid that the love she just started feeling for Sonny again will go away and that these flashes may become more frequent and she will lose feelings again. Jason encourages her to tell Sonny what is going on with her when she talks to him on the phone. She calls him but doesn't tell him the truth. He asks her why she didn't tell Sonny and she tells him that Sonny seemed preoccupied with work and she didn't want him to worry about it. She tells Jason that the doctor checked her out and told her that there is nothing wrong with her physically. Courtney shows up to visit Carly and sees Jason is there. Jason tells them he will leave them to talk. Courtney tells him he doesn't have to leave on her account but he tells her it is better if he leaves right now. Carly asks her about what happened that night at the casino with Brian. Courtney tells her that she accepted Brian's invitation on an impulse and won't be doing that again. Carly tells Courtney that Jason loves her but has a hard time showing his feelings and that he keeps it all bottled inside because he is afraid he will explode if he doesn't. Courtney tells her that she still loves Jason too but doesn't know what she is doing from one minute to the next.
Unable to hold back, Alcazar kisses Carly. She pulls away and tells him that she doesn't want him. He refuses to believe her and says that she needs to stop fighting her feelings. Carly pushes away from him and leaves. Witnessing the entire encounter, but unable to hear their actual conversation, Jason angrily follows Carly back to the penthouse where he confronts her on having an affair with Alcazar. She denies an affair and agonizes over her inability to control her head and desires. Believing her, Jason tells her that she must admit what is going on to Sonny so that he can help her, and especially so that he doesn't find out another way. She refuses, and makes her case to Jason, who understands. Realizing that telling Sonny would be a bad idea after all, Jason agrees to not say anything, but decides to take matters into his own hands and go after Alcazar himself.
Sam and Sonny mildly annoy one another at the cabin, until Sam decides to go to bed. She attempts to sleep, but they continue to bicker and she angrily gets up to leave. Suddenly, she shrieks in pain as a scorpion bites her. Determined to not give up more of her treasure, she tries to leave, but is overcome by the toxins. Sonny begins to try and help her survive. As Sonny tends to a feverish Samantha, Sam mistakes Sonny for Jax and proclaims her love for Jax. When Samantha begs "Jax" to keep her map safe, Sonny spots the map inside Samantha's trousers. But, when Sonny lifts the map, Sam suddenly regains consciousness and angrily grabs the map out of Sonny's hand. Sam accuses Sonny of trying to steal her map, but Sonny reminds Samantha that he actually believes that he owes Sam a favor because her testimony cleared him of a kidnapping charge and Sonny would not have a reason to be stealing from Samantha. Nevertheless, Sam angrily orders Sonny to leave her alone! When Sonny returns, Sam declares that she burned the treasure map. Sonny warns Sam that anyone who wants the treasure will not have to grab Samantha instead of the map. As the two talk, Ben the Fence overhears Sonny's warning.
Jason kidnaps Alcazar and holds him in the panic room. Jason tells him that he'll never get to Carly again, but Alcazar merely baits Jason about Courtney. Jason attacks Alcazar, but leaves him alive for Sonny. After Jason leaves, Alcazar offers to pay the guard to tell Carly where he's being held. Carly continues to have pain and flashes of Alcazar. She goes to the Haunted Star to reflect on his kiss and try to get him out of her head. Faith begins to taunt her about her relationships with both Sonny and Alcazar, and Carly punches her. Sage comes upon Carly later, frantic about her missing uncle. Carly brushes her off, but then returns to the penthouse to confront Jason on Alcazar's whereabouts. She warns him that she will never be able to resolve her issues with Alcazar if he's dead. They continue to fight, but Jason refuses to tell Carly where he's holding Alcazar. Carly remains haunted by memories of Lorenzo and confides to a sympathetic Courtney that Jason is holding Alcazar prisoner and Carly is afraid that Jason plans to murder Lorenzo. Courtney insists that she wants to help and Carly suggests that Courtney convince Jason that Killing Lorenzo will not solve the problems that have entangled their lives. After Courtney leaves the Penthouse, an agitated Carly leaves a message on Sonny's phone but is interrupted when Sage tries to push her way past the guard and into the Penthouse with a gun. After Sage is disarmed, Sage warns Carly that Carly will be the one responsible if her Uncle Lorenzo dies on Sonny's orders. Carly sends the young woman away with the reminder that Lorenzo would NOT want his niece to be taking matters into her own hands. After Sage leaves, Carly drinks and continues to be haunted by memories of Lorenzo. Suddenly, Carly takes Sage's gun and goes out, alone, to search for Lorenzo.
As Jason brings dinner to Alcazar in the Panic Room, Jason blasts Lorenzo for his obsession with Carly, However, Lorenzo argues that, even if Jason and Sonny succeeded in killing him, Lorenzo will always have a hold on Carly's heart! Jason suddenly declares that Lorenzo is free to go but must go through Jason first. Lorenzo philosophically observes that, if Carly could survive being held prisoner in the Panic Room, Alcazar will be able to survive as well. Later, Lorenzo is thrilled when Carly suddenly walks in to the Panic Room. He sees that she is holding his gun and asks if she is returning it to him so he can escape the room. She tells him she didn't come there to rescue him this time and points his gun at him. She tells him that he has ruined her life and that she can't get images of him out of her head and blames him. She tells him that Sage came to see her and pointed his gun at her and was going to shoot her to blame her for what happened to him. She tells him that she can't have him invading her thoughts anymore and that she needs to live her life with Sonny and her children. She tells Alcazar that he can either leave town permanently or she will have to kill him herself. He tells her that he loves her and that he gave her the space she needed to decide what she wanted. She tells him she doesn't want his kind of love and keeps the gun on him.
Jason finds Carly holding the gun on Alcazar in Ric's old panic room. He tells Carly not to shoot Alcazar and gets her to give him the gun slowly. He shuts Alcazar in the panic room while he escorts Carly out of the room. He reminds Carly that coming there and almost shooting Alcazar would not help her children or Sonny's lives if she was arrested or convicted of murder. He asks her if she came to kill Alcazar or to rescue him after she tells him that she gave Alcazar a choice to either leave town or be shot. Carly agrees to stay away from Alcazar and go home. While she is home she talks to Michael after he has a nightmare and calms him down. She tells him to think about happy thoughts not scary, creepy things to upset him. Later she has a drink and thinks about Alcazar again and dreams of a scenario where she kisses Alcazar passionately instead of shooting him.
At Azure Keys, Sam has recovered from her fever and packs her stuff up to leave. Sonny informs her that it isn't safe for her to go out on her own. She reminds him that she has been on her own for many years and can take care of herself. Sonny offers to go with her to find the treasure and then she can go back on the plane with him. She thanks him and looks as if she is going to take him up on his offer. Ben overhears their conversation. Sonny makes a phone call to his pilot and when he gets off the phone he sees that Sam disappeared. He curses and goes off after her when he sees the rain storm is getting worse. Sam returns to the cabin to find Sonny gone. Ben comes up behind her and points a gun to her head. He orders her to give him the map. She tells him she doesn't know what he is talking about. He sees her duffle bag and guesses it is the treasure from Port Charles. He tells her to give him the map or he will kill her. Sam refuses to tell him where the map is. He grabs her roughly and throws her on the bed. He lays on top of her and tells her he will strip her clothes off to find the map if he has to. Sam tries to fight him but he overpowers her on the bed. Ben is about to kill Sam but Sonny comes up behind Ben after he hears her screams. He points a gun to Ben's head. Ben refuses to put his gun down and get off of Sam. Sonny refuses to put down his gun and they end up in a stand-off. Ben grabs Sam and pulls her off the bed with him. He keeps the gun near her head and tells Sonny to put down his gun or he will shoot her.
Sonny refuses to put down his gun. Ben decides to take Sam and the treasure with him and keeps her close to him. Sam distracts Ben and makes a move to get away from him. Sam fall to the floor. Ben goes to shoot Sonny but Sonny shoots him first and ends up killing him. Sonny picks Sam off the floor and hugs her to make sure she is all right. Jax walks into the little cabin and sees them in what looks like an embrace. The news of her father's murder sends Sam reeling. Sonny tries to comfort her, but her misery is short-lived when Jax arrives at the cabin. He and Sonny dispose of Ben's body, and Jax confirms to Sam that Ben did murder Cody. He tries to get her to go back to Port Charles with him, but despite the ongoing hurricane, Sam is more concerned about finding the treasure and goes after it. Jax finds her in a cave, surrounded by gold. He tells her that they need to get off the island, but Sam suddenly sets off a trap. An explosion rocks the cave, knocking Sam unconscious and blocking her behind a wall of fallen rocks.
Carly can't take seeing anymore erotic visions of her and Alcazar and goes to see Cameron for help. She confides in him about the erotic images she has of Alcazar and how she could never tell Sonny about them since Alcazar is his worse enemy. She asks Cameron if there are any drugs out there that could help her stop having these erotic fantasies. Cameron tells her that there isn't some magic pill to stop them and that what she is suffering from is her brain's way of reconnecting her thoughts with her feelings and suggests she go into therapy. She reluctantly agrees to go to therapy. Carly goes home but still can't get Alcazar out of her head. She goes to Ric's old house and picks up the remote that opens the panic room. She feels horrible for considering what she plans to do. She opens up the panic room. She finds Alcazar laying on a cot and sleeping. She watches him and is about to leave when he asks her to stay. She comes over and tells him that she went to see her doctor for help and that he told her that the images she is having of him will go away eventually and that the images she is having of him don't mean she is in love with him. Alcazar tells her that he loves her.
Carly tells him about her erotic dreams of him and how she doesn't want to have them and that she is supposed to love her husband not him. He tells her that if she wants to leave and hate him for the rest of her life he will accept that. She tells him the problem is that she can't hate him even though it would be easier if she did. She approaches him and kisses him. Carly gives in and begins to kiss Alcazar. Their passion ignites and they begin to undress and make love in the panic room. Alcazar suddenly stops her, realizing that she isn't acting out of love, but rather from her brain damage. He refuses to take advantage of her injury, and she angrily storms out of the panic room. She is about to leave when she sees Jason entering the house, and she hides. She leaves as he goes into the panic room, but doesn't realize that he sees her walk out of the front door and assumes the worst. Jason later meets her at the penthouse and confronts her on visiting Alcazar, but she lies to him and denies it. She goes upstairs, only to return to the living room in time to overhear Jason on the phone, trying to talk to Sonny about her.
Jason tells Carly that he tried to call Sonny to tell him that Carly slept with Alcazar. She angrily denies it, but he tells her that he saw her leaving the panic room. Carly continues to deny sleeping with Alcazar, but Jason won't believe her. He tells her that she's betraying everyone she loves, including herself, and she tearfully agrees. She tells him what happened at the panic room, and admits that while she didn't sleep with him, it was Alcazar who stopped it from happening. She says that she can't control her thoughts and emotions, but Jason points out that she can control her actions. She begs him not to tell Sonny, but he refuses to lie to Sonny, and he walks out. Jason then goes to the panic room where he tells Alcazar again to stay away from Carly. He allows him to call Sage and report that he is out of the country on business, so that she doesn't worry about him. Carly shows up at the panic room, and is devastated when she finds it empty and assumes Alcazar has been killed. Jason comes up behind her and reassures her that he only moved him, and Carly breaks down in his arms and begs him for help.
Carly meets with Cameron and tells him that she needs to be committed in order to get rid of her fantasies about Alcazar. Cameron tries to convince Carly to give up her plan, but Carly refuses to listen. When Carly returns to the Penthouse, Courtney is relieved to learn that Jason has not yet murdered Lorenzo. But Courtney is devastated when Carly announces that she is having herself committed because Carly knows that Jason will report to Sonny that Carly visited Lorenzo while Jason was keeping the drug lord imprisoned in the Panic Room of the old Lansing House. Courtney does her best to convince Carly not to take such a drastic step, but Carly remains adamant.
Faith overhears Cameron making plans for Carly to be admitted to Shady Brook. Carly enjoys some quiet time with Michael, Morgan and Courtney at the Penthouse. Carly tries to explain to Michael why she is going back to the Hospital, but Michael begs his mother not to go. Carly tearfully insists that she must go if she wants to get better. Later, when Jason arrives at the Penthouse he is stunned to learn Carly has gone and had herself committed to Shady Brook. Then Courtney accuses Jason of scaring Carly into the asylum. Jason declares that he must stop Carly and rushes out of the Penthouse. Carly and Cameron arrive at Shady Brook. Cameron again tries to persuade Carly not to take this drastic step, but Carly insists that her plan is the only plan that will work. After Dr. Patricia Grimes introduces herself to Carly and leaves, Dr. Grimes receives a visit from Faith. Later, Carly has another flashback of being with Lorenzo and confides her fears to Dr. Grimes. Dr. Grimes prepares an injection for Carly, which Patricia explains will help Carly remain calm.
Sam and Jax move out of the way when the rocks around the cave explode. They look up to find Sonny standing in the big hole that he just blew out with dynamite. Jax isn't pleased to see him. Sam goes to grab the rest of the treasure before they leave. Jax tells her to leave it be and go with them. Sam doesn't listen and insists on grabbing what treasure she can find buried under the rocks. The rocks start to rumble and bunch of rocks and dirt fall on top of Sam and trap her on the other side of Jax and Sonny. Jax starts to move rocks out of the way to get to Sam, fearing she is hurt when he calls out to her and she doesn't respond. Sonny doesn't help him with the rocks so Jax criticizes his lack of help. Sonny tells Jax he doesn't know Sam that well but he does know how determined she is to get the treasure and there is nothing they can do. He tells Jax that if it was him he would grabbed Sam and dragged her out of the cave to begin with kicking and screaming instead of letting her go after the treasure even though they were in danger before. Sam, meanwhile, wakes up from being knocked out for short time. She goes digging for more treasure under the dirt and rocks. She finds more jewels and the sword and starts to make a pile. A mysterious person comes up behind her and hits her in the head with a rock to knock her unconscious. Jax and Sonny get through the other side and find an old sword sticking out of a rock with no sign of Sam around.
Carly is dismayed when she sees that her new doctor at the mental hospital is preparing a syringe of a drug to inject her with. She tells her that she isn't supposed to be prescribed any medications and that she is just there for therapy with Dr. Lewis only. The doctor tells her that it is a mild sedative to help her relax and stop the dreams and that Dr. Lewis okayed it. Carly doesn't believe her and tells her she doesn't need any sedatives. The doctor doesn't listen to her and has the nurse help her hold Carly still so she can inject her with the drug. Faith watches what is going on through the window in the door. Carly fights to keep the doctor from injecting her but an orderly comes in and restrains her arms and she is injected with the drug. One of Faith's men comes over to tell her everything is all set. She explains to him that she wants Carly to end up with Alcazar and for Sonny to get angry enough and kill Alcazar or vise-versa so that she will no longer have any more obstacles and Jason will be too distracted with Carly to want to try and kill her. It appears that Faith bribed the female doctor into giving Carly a hallucinatory drug. The doctor allows Faith to enter Carly's room to talk to her. She tells Faith that Carly is in a pretty receptive mood. Faith talks to Carly and tells her she is Courtney since Carly calls her that in her delusional state. Carly starts to see Courtney's face instead of Faith's. Faith tells Carly that she is in love with Alcazar and belongs to him and that if anyone tries to stop her from being with Alcazar, they are not her real friend and she should fight them off. Carly smiles at Faith hallucinating that she is talking to Courtney.
Jason gets to the mental hospital and asks the nurse if he can see Carly. The nurse tells him that Carly requested that she not be disturbed by anyone. Jason gets suspicious and demands to see Carly. Carly's doctor tells him that Carly isn't seeing any visitors right now. He tells her that he is Carly's brother-in-law and demands to see her. He ignores her answer and runs over to find Carly's room. He finds her there and notices she is under some drug and she is hallucinating when she thinks he is Alcazar. Jason tells her he is going to get her out of there right now. She lets him pick her up and carry her thinking he is Alcazar. Jason carries her out of the room while her doctor has security called to stop him. Jason is heading toward the exit when Cameron shows up and tells him not to try and take her out. Jason brings her back to her room and asks Cameron for answers to why Carly was drugged. Cameron tells him that he never prescribed any drugs for her and didn't really want her to commit herself to begin with. Jason tells him that either he or the other doctor is lying and that he is taking Carly out of there. Cameron points to the window in Carly's room and asks him if he thinks it is a good idea when Jason sees Carly put her arm out lovingly and talk to herself as if someone is there with her. Carly hallucinates that Alcazar is there with her and he is telling her to come with him and not to trust Jason.
