Sonny & Carly #32  November 29, 2004 - January 26, 2005

Back at his penthouse, Sonny's attention turns to dealing with Meyer. He confronts Meyer again about the file, but Meyer denies any wrongdoing. Sonny then quietly pulls out a gun and aims it at Meyer's back until Meyer admits that John got the file and forced him to lie to Sonny. Meyer begs for his life to be spared.

Ric brings John to the station to give his account of the time with Carly, and then compares it to Carly's story. Thanks to John's earlier warning on the situation, Carly is able to answer all of the questions exactly as John did, and Ric is forced to release her.

Sonny visits Kristina in the hospital and gives her an advent calendar. Ric witnesses the moment, and rather than interrupt, he asks to be a part of it. He listens intently as Sonny tells Kristina that his mother gave him a calendar every year, and Ric begs to hear more about the things their mom did for Sonny as a child.

Carly walks in on Jason and Sonny in the penthouse, listening to the bug in John's apartment. Carly angrily turns off the tape recording and tells them that her father did not steal the file, and told her point-blank that he had nothing to do with it. Sonny explains Meyer's confession to Carly, and Carly is visibly upset to realize her father has lied and used her. She angrily demands in on the scheme to get back at John, but Sonny tells her she won't be a part of it. Carly ignores him and rushes off to John's condo for a setup. She attempts to trap him by setting out a picnic of junk food for the two of them, but after he arrives back at his condo, John realizes that he's being tricked. He allows Carly to pretend to be angry with Sonny, but he soon finds the bug that Jason planted in his apartment and he confronts Carly about it. Carly denies knowing what it is, but John asks her if she's trying to set him up for Sonny.

Sonny confides to Kristina that Sonny believes that Kristina will soon be living with her very own father. Ric and Alexis come back in and coaxes Kristina into taking a walk with him and Alexis informs Sonny that the custody hearing has been moved up and Alexis expects Sonny to 'suddenly' decide, while on the witness stand, that Kristina belongs with her mother or Alexis will return the incriminating file to Ric. Alexis also warns Sonny that all of Sonny's talk about Kristina going home with Sonny is frightening and confusing to the little girl. Alexis reminds Sonny that Kristina will be a target to all of Sonny's enemies, but Sonny insists that he only wants what is best for his daughter.

At Durant's apartment, John discovers the bug that Jason planted and demands to know what Carly knows about it. As Carly denies knowing anything, Jason realizes that he has lost the transmission from the bug and can no longer hear the conversation. When John reminds Carly of all the chances Durant took to protect Carly from prosecution after Carly set fire to Ric's apartment to destroy the incriminating file, Carly accuses John of lying to her and demands the truth about the incriminating file. Even after Carly informs John that Meyer confessed to Sonny that Meyer had made a deal with Durant, John continues to deny any connection to the file.

As John grabs an angry Carly to prevent her from leaving, Jason suddenly bursts into the room and orders Durant to leave Carly alone. Although John continues to protest that he genuinely cares for Carly, Carly angrily advises her father to leave town and go back to New York City. After Carly storms away, Jason reminds Durant that John lost his daughter when John chose to betray his own daughter. John insists that Jason is wrong but Jason walks away from John. After Jason leaves, John takes his anger out on the coffee table.

Sonny returns to the penthouse to find Jordan grilling Michael about guns in the house. After Sonny sends Michael to his room, Jordan explains that she was merely preparing Michael for cross-examination. However, Sonny orders Jordan to keep Michael off the stand. When Jordan asks if Sonny intends to give up parental rights of Kristina the way that Sonny gave up parental rights of Michael and Morgan, Sonny insists that he has no plans of being separated any longer from his daughter. Jordan warns Sonny that Alexis and Ric will probably use Sonny's previous decision about Michael and Morgan as a precedent, but Sonny waves away the attorney's concerns. Sonny and Jordan are interrupted when Carly arrives.

After Jordan leaves, Carly informs Sonny that Durant knows everything. Carly apologizes for being duped by her father and Sonny assures Carly that he understands. Carly and Sonny are interrupted when Jason and Sam stop on their way to Emily's wedding and Sam informs Sonny that she wants to testify for Sonny at the custody hearing. Sonny cautions Sam that he believes the recent experience of her baby's death is too traumatic for Sam to relive on the witness stand. However, when Sonny appeals to Jason to persuade Sam, Jason refuses to get involved. After Sam and Jason leave, Carly urges Sonny to use Sam's testimony if it will help. Later, Sonny, Carly and Michael go to the hospital and Sonny introduces them to Kristina as her family.

Sonny offers Alexis shared custody of Kristina, but she adamantly refuses. Sticking to her plan, she tells Sonny exactly what he should say once on the witness stand if he doesn't want the incriminating file to be turned over to the D.A.'s office. Later, both Sam and Carly testify on Sonny's behalf.

Alexis is stunned when Sonny goes back on their agreement, and states in court that Kristina belongs with him. She jumps in the middle of Ric's cross-examination, and petitions to finish it herself. Ric objects, but the judge allows Alexis to question Sonny. Despite her best efforts, Alexis is unable to get a clear victory in her cross, so Ric calls for a short recess. During it, Alexis tearfully tells Sonny that she wishes she had another choice, but he's left her no option. She refuses to allow joint custody, and tells Sonny that she's turning the file of evidence against him over to Ric. After the hearing begins and Ric continues to question Sonny about the legality of his business dealings, they are interrupted by a police officer who promptly arrests Sonny for RICO violations. Ric, Alexis, and Carly follow Sonny and the police to the station, where Ric promises to put Sonny away for good. John appears at the last minute, however, and confesses for everyone to hear, that he illegally obtained the file from Sonny's penthouse.

Carly is stunned when her father announces to everyone at the station that the file of evidence against Sonny cannot be used because he obtained it illegally from Carly's things. Despite Ric's warning of consequences, John officially admits to taking the evidence, and therefore makes it unusable against Sonny in any way. Carly runs out of the station, and Jason follows her and tries to comfort her. She apologizes for refusing to listen when Jason warned her that John was only after Sonny, but Jason reminds her that although her dad came to town for Sonny, his admission at the station was clearly all about Carly. Later, John arrives on the docks and finds Carly sitting and waiting for him. She thanks him for what he did at the police station, but she tells him that he can no longer be a part of her or her sons' lives. John protests and reminds her that he potentially just ruined his entire career for her, but Carly is unable to forgive him.

Sonny tells Alexis that he's going at her with everything he has to get full, sole custody of their daughter.

Alexis attempts to sneak Kristina out of the hospital and is nearly caught by Carly. Sonny and Ric are stunned to enter Kristina's hospital room and find her missing. Both men realize immediately what has happened, but Ric is able to stop Sonny from calling the police to track down Alexis and Kristina. Ric promises that he'll find Alexis and return her within an hour, so Sonny allows Ric the time before he notifies the authorities that Alexis has run off with their daughter.

Carly is told of the situation, and is shocked to hear Sonny wonder if this is any different a situation than when he forced AJ to give up his rights to Michael. Carly reminds Sonny that it is different and that Sonny loves his children, unlike AJ who merely wanted to use Michael for a family bargaining chip. Although he doesn't call the authorities, Sonny does call his attorney, and Jordan is eager to have the opportunity to seal Alexis's fate with a kidnapping charge. Sonny won't allow Jordon to take any action until the hour is up,

Ric & Alexis return Kristina to the hospital where Sonny and Jordan are waiting. Ric blasts Sonny for calling the attorney, and Jordan and Sonny predict a win in court the next day.

Steven won't allow Carly to leave until she promises him that they will go out on a real date. Carly is amused at his persistence, but tells him the word "date" makes her think of teenage silly fantasies. Steven points out that she must have dated Sonny, but Carly corrects him by telling him that Sonny just got her pregnant and then ordered her to move in with him. Steven is further intrigued, and he tells her that he won't give up until she agrees to go out with him again. He's called away by his pager, but Carly waits around until he's out of surgery. He's happy to see that she's still there, and she reminds him that they never actually ate that night, so she invites him to the hospital cafeteria for bad food, and Steven gladly accepts.

Back in court, Jordan plans to use everything she can to win Sonny custody, but Ric throws a wrench in her plans when he puts Alexis on the stand and has her admit outright that she took Kristina and planned to leave the country. Alexis again pleads for the right to keep her daughter safe from Sonny's life, and Jordan does her best to paint Alexis as the dangerous parent. In a last-ditch effort, Ric puts Sonny back on the stand and gets him to admit that Kristina is safe and happy with her mother. Jordan crosses, expecting Sonny to counter that the girl belongs with him, but Sonny surprises everyone when he suggests that the best thing for Kristina is joint custody.

Sonny admits that he believes that Alexis is truly committed to the best interests of her daughter, even though Alexis has made many decisions that Sonny is not able to understand. When Sonny declares that he believes that joint custody would be in Kristina's best interests, Alexis replies that she believes that joint custody is totally unacceptable. Alexis again explains that Sonny is not really a Coffee Importer but a mob boss whose violent lifestyle would constantly put Kristina in danger.

Sonny and Carly take a few moments to talk about Michael and Morgan's Christmas plans. When Ric and Alexis return to the courtroom, Alexis re-emphasizes her concern for Kristina's safety, but agrees to share custody with Sonny. Sonny agrees to let Kristina continue to live with Alexis so long as Sonny can have unlimited visitation. The Judge and Alexis agree to Sonny's suggestion. After court adjourns, Ric assures Alexis that, once Sonny has exercised his 'power over' Kristina's life, Sonny will end up seeing Kristina as infrequently as Sonny now sees Michael and Morgan. When Alexis approaches Sonny about scheduling visitation, Sonny tells Alexis that he wants nothing to do with a schedule, and declares that he wants to see his daughter any time he wants, beginning that very moment. Afterward, Sonny and Alexis visit Kristina in the little girl's hospital room and Alexis lets Sonny hold Kristina. Then Alexis reluctantly leaves the room.

Durant runs into Carly at the docks where she is looking for a Christmas tree with Steven and Michael. He tries to persuade her not to keep him out of her life for good and tries to explain why decided to come clean about the evidence. Carly isn't interested in forgiving him for lying to her and using her children and him to get evidence against Sonny but that she only thanks him for coming forward. Durant tries to press the issue and try to get her to listen. Steven comes over and tells Durant to stop harassing Carly and give her some space. Carly asks Durant to leave and not follow her around anymore. Carly thanks Steven for helping her out with Durant. They pick out a tree and return home. Jax and Courtney stay to help decorate the tree and watch it light up. Later, Carly sits with Michael and reads a Christmas story to him. Michael tells her that this will be the first year that they won't be celebrating Christmas with Sonny. She assures him that they will spend Christmas with Sonny.

While Kristina is spending some time with Sonny at his penthouse, Carly arrives with Michael and Morgan so they can all decorate the Christmas tree together. When Carly returns home, a snowstorm knocks out the power and a knock at the door causes her to nearly jump out of her skin. The storm causes Sonny to be stranded at the penthouse with Michael, Morgan, Kristina and Jordan.

Jordan finds herself stuck in Sonny's penthouse while she waits out the storm, and Michael promptly takes the opportunity to read her the riot act. He warns her that his dad doesn't need another girlfriend, and that the last two didn't make it long anyway. Jordan is amused by Michael's protectiveness, and when Sonny asks her what Michael said to her, she covers and merely says it's obvious that he worries about his dad and that Sonny seems lonely. Sonny admits that he misses Carly, and Jordan guesses he's using her time there to keep himself company. Sonny says she's probably right because he's sad about Carly, and Michael is pleased to hear his dad talk about his mom.

Steven locks his keys in his car outside of Carly's house, and his attempt to open the door doesn't work. Carly greets him with hot drinks, and invites him to stay for a while. When she realizes that he's soaking wet, she suggests that he shower and warm himself up. Steven's clearly happy to realize he'll be settling in with her for awhile, so he showers and returns to find that she's taken his clothes. He uses a spare blanket, and the two curl up in front of the fire to relax. Later, he tries to get up, but accidentally drops the blanket and a buzzed Carly is pleased to get an eyeful. Steven quickly grabs his now dried clothes and puts them on, but Carly has already seen everything. She then talks him into helping her put together a toy wagon for the boys, and the two grow drunker by the minute as they attempt to build it for her sons. Steven makes one last attempt to be sure the wagon is complete, but he falls off of it and they find themselves in each

Steven and Carly continue to flirt in their drunken state, but things change abruptly when Steven tells Carly that he cares for her too much to sleep with her. Angry at his assumption, Carly slaps him and tells him he has no chance with her. They joke back and forth, until Carly threatens to prove to Steven that she isn't interested in him more than a friend. She moves toward him and falls, conveniently collapsing in his lap. Before anything can progress, John barges in and interrupts the potential romantic moment. Carly demands that he leave, but he uses the storm as an excuse to stay. As Carly goes to get him something to drink, John tells Steven that he'd better leave or John will tell Carly that Steven was only using her. Steven tells him to go ahead, that Carly won't believe John's lies, but Carly overhears them and wants to know what John has on Steven. Just as John's about to tell her, the roof of the house suddenly collapses, burying all three of them.

Jordan is shocked when Sonny presents her with the dollhouse of her dreams. Later, Sonny reads a Christmas story to Michael, and then carries the boy to bed when Michael falls asleep. Afterward, Sonny confides to Jordan that he is worried now that, one day, when his children begin to understand the true nature of Sonny's business, that the children will accuse Sonny of ruining their lives. However, Jordan confidently assures Sonny that he is a wonderful father. As Sonny voices his hope that Michael and Morgan's mother will always be safe, Steven and John sort through the rubble of the collapsed roof at Carly's house. Steven and Durant realize that Carly is seriously injured. Steven declares that Carly's lung has been punctured and begins immediate emergency procedures to close up the wound. As the snow begins to fall heavily on the wreckage of Carly's house, Steven and Durant work together frantically to stabilize Carly. Once Carly is stabilized and Steven has wrapped Carly in all the blankets that he can find, John declares that he is determined to go out into the storm to find an ambulance for his daughter. After John leaves, Steven continues to attempt to keep Carly calm and positive.

Steven stays with Carly while Durant goes to find help for them. Steven confesses to Carly that he came to Port Charles to get close enough to her to tell Durant all about her. He admits that he started to like her as a person and couldn't just let her father use her like that. Carly isn't pleased by what he did. She asks him why he stayed with her right now and did what he did to save her. He tells her she should know the answer to that. He tells her that he felt connected to her from the moment he met her and that he cares about her. The paramedics show up to take them to the hospital. Carly asks them how they knew where to find her. Standing over near the door is Durant.

Sonny and his lawyer sit and talk. She tells him that she noticed there was an envelope with Santa's name on it. Sonny picks it up off the mantel and reads it. It is a letter to Santa from Michael asking him to get a big house for him and his brother and sister to live in like the one his mother has with a big backyard. Sonny explains that he would like to provide his children with a big house and backyard but that safety is always an issue with him and where he lives keeps them safer.

Max returns from running an errand for Sonny. Max tells Sonny the dollhouses all sold out at the stores and he couldn't find one for Kristina. His lawyer overhears the conversation and realizes the dollhouse he spontaneously gave her was intended for Kristina for Christmas. She tells Sonny that his gesture was wonderful enough and that he can give the dollhouse to Kristina like he intended. Sonny pays Max with a wad of bills and sends him off for the holidays. She decides they should probably rewrap the dollhouse for Kristina. Sonny's cell-phone rings. It is Bobbie informing him that the roof at Carly's house caved in and she was injured and brought to the hospital. Sonny asks his lawyer if she would be willing to watch his children while they are asleep so he can go and check on Carly. Sonny places the written description of the house Michael asked for back on the mantel. He doesn't see it fall to the floor near the fire. The movement from the fire sends the letter flying under the chair instead.

Sonny goes to see Carly in her room at GH. She explains what happened to her. Steven shows up to see her and finds Sonny there. Sonny is polite and says hi to him but seems annoyed by his presence. Carly sees how Sonny looks at him and tells him that Steven saved her life.

Ric and Alexis are stranded in the forest with no visible signs of rescue. But Sonny and Jax team up to save them, then helicopter to Kristina's christening. Everyone gathers in the church for the event, which somehow brings out the best in people.

Kristina's christening comes to a peaceful end.

Carly and Sonny enjoy some close moments at the penthouse after Carly and the boys spent the night for the holiday. Steven interrupts them, insisting on giving Carly an examination since she checked herself out of the hospital. Sonny is initially amused by Steven, but soon grows threatened when he realizes that Steven is very interested in Carly, and clearly not at all intimidated by Sonny. Steven examines Carly and asks why she's at Sonny's place, so she explains that it's only temporary until she finds a place. Steven is clearly thrilled that she isn't reuniting with her husband, and he tells her to not bother warning him off again, he is interested in her and knows she's also interested in him. Carly is intrigued by Steven, but also not over Sonny. She enjoys Sonny's irritation at the situation, and his attempt to pay off Steven to stay away, but she also enjoys Steven's refusal to allow Sonny to dictate his actions.

Later, Jordan arrives and Carly overhears Sonny tell her to continue with the divorce proceedings because his marriage cannot be repaired. Carly is hurt, and immediately informs Sonny that she's moving into Steven's building until her house is fixed. Steven chooses that moment to return and pick up the cell phone that he left behind, and Sonny tells a stunned Steven that he hears he and his wife are going to live together.

Sonny refuses to believe Carly's story of finding a new place to live, until Steven walks into the penthouse and backs up her story. Steven tells Sonny that Carly and the boys are going to move in with him, and Carly is stunned as Steven spins a better tale than even she can do. Carly then tells Steven she decided to just move into the building rather than into Steven's own apartment and Sonny is suddenly stunned when the two run off to check out Carly's new digs. They arrive at Steven's building, and he warns Carly that there are no vacancies. Carly tells him to not worry, and she promptly rings his neighbor and asks to sublet her place for a while. The neighbor invites them in, but turns on them suddenly, assuming Carly is dangerous because of her connection to Sonny. The police are called and Ric arrives, amused by the situation. He decides to help Carly out, and assures the woman that Carly only needs the place to help Ric get control of mob crime in the area. Feeling it's her civic duty, the woman immediately decides to give her place to Carly, and explains she's off to her winter home anyway. Carly's thrilled with the outcome, but later when Sonny arrives with Michael and Morgan, it's clear he doesn't share her sentiment. He sees that Steven is there, and immediately grows irritated. Rather than pointing out the obvious, he explains that the doorman is worthless and the windows are not bulletproof, and he promptly refuses to allow Carly to move herself and their sons in the building.

Carly stops by Sonny's to pick up some of her things and Sonny once again informs Carly that she can not move into the unsafe apartment building that Carly has picked out. As they argue, Carly is stunned when Sonny informs her that Durant has declared that John is representing Carly in the divorce. An angry Carly storms out of the penthouse, in search of her father. Later, Michael informs Sonny that Michael found the picture of the house Sonny had been looking at, under the Christmas tree, and believes that Sonny is buying the house for Michael for the boy's birthday. Although Sonny insists that Michael is mistaken, Michael persists in his belief. When Jordan arrives, the amused attorney reminds Sonny that the house IS still on the market.

Carly finds John and insists that she does not care about Sonny's money. However, before John can walk away, Carly changes her mind and admits that she might be interested in having her father help her gain a little leverage where Sonny is concerned. After Sonny convinces Michael that Sonny will not be buying a house for Michael's birthday, Sonny is startled when John arrives with a subpoena for Sonny's financial records for the divorce proceedings. Jordan leaps to Sonny's defense, but Sonny is further surprised when Carly arrives and declares that John has Carly's permission to go after Sonny's financial records for the divorce settlement.

After John leaves, Carly tells Sonny that, unless Sonny allows Carly to live where Carly wants to live, Carly will get tough with the divorce settlement. Meanwhile, Lorenzo pops in to Carly's apartment and finds Steven working at unpacking. When Lorenzo insists that he had a message from Carly, asking Lorenzo to meet Carly at her apartment, Steven accuses Lorenzo of inventing the invitation in an effort to re-ignite Alcazar's old flame with Carly. As Lorenzo reminds Steven that Carly runs her own life, John arrives and admits that it was John, not Carly who invited Lorenzo to stop by. John informs Lorenzo that Alcazar is no more suitable for Carly than Carly's current mobster husband. Sonny agrees to go along with Carly's apartment choice if Sonny can bulletproof the windows and post guards. Carly agrees and convinces Michael to head home with her.

Jax hosts a lavish masquerade ball with most of Port Charles' movers and shakers as his guests. He shows off his newly renovated Metro Court Hotel, which stands on the site where the Port Charles Hotel stood before the tragic fire the year before. Guests are decked out in flashy costumes. The announcement that Sam and Jason plan to raise Bridget's baby together is shocking news to Sonny. Michael later tricks Carly into leaving the masked ball and returning home to the penthouse to be with him and his father.

Carly and Sonny come very close to kissing as they ring in the new year. Sonny tells Ric and a drunken Alexis that it might be a good idea for Kristina to spend the night with him at the penthouse. Sonny schemes to use Alexis's drunkenness to force her into letting Kristina go with him and the kids on a vacation to his island.

Sonny has clothes delivered to Kristina for their trip to his island. Alexis is furious, and she leaves with Ric to go tell Sonny no. When they get to Sonny's, his lawyer is there, and Alexis firmly tells them both that Kristina is not leaving the country. After Ric and Alexis leave, Sonny asks Jordan to go to the island with him and his kids, but Jordan refuses. Sonny tries to talk her into it.

Carly tells Sonny that they have to do something about "them" in order to convince Michael that they are indeed getting a divorce. Carly mentions how much time they spent together over the holidays, including New Year's Eve. Carly and Sonny realize they are leading Michael on so they sit him down to have a talk. Steven interrupts as he and Carly were supposed to go running together. Sonny finishes talking with Michael and leaves.

Carly visits Courtney, they talk about Lorenzo, and Carly defends him saying he will be a good father, and that Diego could do him some good after losing Sage just a few months ago. Courtney still isn't convinced, but then realizes she hasn't been there for her friend and the conversation changes to Carly's divorce. Carly admits how hard it has been lately but she doesn't want to fight with Sonny, not now, not ever. She doesn't want the heartache; it's easier to put her own feelings aside.

Alexis coldly informs Sonny that Kristina has an appointment with a prestigious pre-school and will not be able to go to the island with Sonny, Michael and Morgan. Sonny insists that Kristina will go to Queen of Angels when she is ready for preschool. Alexis argues that, since Sonny got his with Kristina's baptism, it is time for Sonny to give in and let Alexis go ahead with arrangements already made for Kristina's education. Ric explains that Alexis called in a lot of favors to even get an interview for Kristina and Sonny appears to be giving in. After Ric and Alexis leave, however, Sonny explains to Jordan that he believes that Alexis is not really headed for a designer preschool for Kristina that the whole lecture about Kristina's education was nothing more than a ploy to keep Sonny and Kristina apart.

Sonny confides to Jordan that, rather than become involved in legal maneuvering to force Alexis to comply with Sonny's wishes, Sonny, instead, intends to give Alexis a taste of her own medicine. Later, when Alexis arrives at the preschool for Kristina's appointment with the principal, Alexis is appalled to discover that Sonny is already there and has made a sizeable donation to the school. The principal announces that Kristina's acceptance at the preschool is assured, that Kristina does not need to be evaluated for admittance and that the little girl is free to join her father and brothers for their vacation at the beach. Later, Sonny returns home and Jordan congratulates Sonny for his brilliant maneuver. Sonny then invites Jordan to join him for the trip to the island.

Carly shows up to visit Sam and asks to hold the baby. Sam tells her the baby's name is Hope. Carly picks her up but Sam feels uncomfortable about her holding the baby and tells Carly she is going to take Hope upstairs while they talk. Jason asks Carly what is wrong now. Carly tells him that she didn't come to see him for him to help her this time. She asks him how things are going. Jason tells her that he is worried that Sam is too attached to the baby. He reminds her that Bridget has up to a year to change her mind about the baby. Carly surprises Jason when she tells him she thinks that Sam isn't the problem but that he is the one who is having the problem. She explains to him that he has gone through a lot with Courtney losing their baby and then getting attached to Sam's baby and having her die that he is afraid to enjoy the moment of having this baby around and thinking the worst is going to happen when it may not. Jason hugs her and thanks her. Sam is pleased when she sees Jason reading the travel books to Hope downstairs.

Jordan shows up at Sonny's and tells him she still hasn't changed her mind about going with him on the island. She tells him that someone put a bid on the estate that they were looking at earlier that Michael wanted him to buy. Sonny tells her that he is not comfortable about buying the house since he can at least control what happens at the penthouse with the kids regarding security and bullet-proof windows. Ric shows up to talk to Sonny alone. He asks Sonny to hold off on taking Kristina on vacation with him and allow her to spend time with her things in her home first since she just got out of the hospital. Ric mentions that he put a bid on the estate called "Greystone." Sonny notices that is the same home that Jordan mentioned Michael wanted him to buy and realizes Ric is the one who bid on the same house.

At first Sonny resents Ric's interference in his plans to take Kristina on vacation but changes his mind and tells Ric he will take Kristina next time to the island. Ric is suspicious when Sonny agrees with Ric suddenly but Sonny tells him he is right about not disrupting Kristina's life right now with a vacation. Ric thanks Sonny and leaves. Sonny calls Jordan right after Ric leaves. He tells her he wants that house they talked about and doesn't care how much it will cost him to buy it. Ric goes home and tells Alexis he got Sonny to change his plans regarding the vacation. Alexis is very pleased and kisses him, unaware that Sonny has his own agenda.

Carly shows up at the penthouse to drop Michael off. She tells Sonny that Leticia will be bringing Morgan over later after they run some errands. Carly is surprised when Sonny tells her that he isn't going to bring Kristina after all. Carly notices an airline ticket on the desk. She opens it up, curious that Sonny plans to fly commercially instead using his private jet. Sonny informs her the jet is being repaired and remodeled right now. Carly notices Jordan's name on the ticket and isn't too pleased but tries to act like it doesn't bother her. She asks him if Jordan is going on the island with him. Sonny doesn't tell her that Jordan isn't going to see her reaction. Carly tries to pretend she isn't jealous and tells him that it's his business and that she will be free too and will probably go out with Steven when Sonny asks her if she will be going out with Steven while he is away. Carly leaves after she says she is going to say goodbye to Michael in the kitchen on her way out.

Ric is confronting Sonny about buying the house after Ric was undergoing contract, and Sonny wants to hear none of it. Carly and Alexis are quibbling about Sonny, violence, the house and Carly's new friend, Steven. Carly informs Alexis that Sonny bought the house that Michael picked out, and it's none of her business who Carly dates. They are interrupted when Sonny and Ric show up. Sonny is there because Jordan was beat up and robbed, which turns into another bout of Alexis going on about Sonny and violence.

Carly and Lorenzo get stuck in the hospital elevator together, and once Carly calms down at the idea, the two begin to talk about Diego. Carly implores Lorenzo to not allow his son to leave for Mexico without establishing a relationship first. Lorenzo reminds her he knows nothing about being a father, but Carly tells him that both he and Diego deserve better. She makes Lorenzo see the situation in a new light, and he thanks her for caring enough to help him. The maintenance people are able to get the elevator open finally, and Steven is surprised to see that Alcazar was in the elevator with Carly. He immediately accuses Lorenzo of purposely jamming the elevator in order to get time alone with Carly, but Lorenzo dismisses Steven and leaves. Carly is irritated with Steven's accusation as well, but Steven tells her he's read up on Alcazar and knows how he operates. Carly grows angry with Steven for checking up on the men in her life, and she leaves.

The mysterious figure watches as Carly and Jordan discuss redecorating Sonny's new house. Carly leaves and heads over to Courtney, only to find a barely dressed Bridget and Jax. It seems that Jax was going from shower to bedroom and Bridget was just getting a soda and going back to her room, but Carly isn't convinced. When Courtney gets home Carly tells her that Bridget is using her and that Bridget had eyes for Jax. Carly thinks Bridget is nothing but trouble. Bridget is shocked that Courtney believes her and appears to be touched by Courtney's outreach.

Lorenzo runs into Carly on the docks and is surprised to learn that Sonny has taken the children to the Island and Carly is busy catching up on errands in the meantime. When Carly encourages Lorenzo to make another attempt to make amends with Diego, Lorenzo sadly reports that he believes that there is no hope to salvage his relationship with his son and then wonders why Lorenzo's relationship with Diego would be of any interest to Carly. Carly assures Lorenzo that she truly believes that Lorenzo deserves some happiness after all of the tragedies that have governed his life.

After speaking with Sam, Courtney meets with Carly and confides her suspicion that Jason and Sam are now sharing a bed. After Courtney leaves, Carly receives a call from John Durant, alerting Carly that Dr. Steven Webber has uncovered new evidence against Lorenzo Alcazar, and Carly rushes off. Carly barges into Lorenzo's apartment and announces that John told her that there is now evidence that ties Lorenzo to Mary Bishop's murder. Carly is shocked when she realizes that Lois is there and overheard Carly's warning to Lorenzo.

Sonny is surprised when Jordan shows up at the island. He asks her why she is there. She tells him she is decorating his new house now and Carly gave her some suggestions. Sonny assumes that Carly tried to boss her around and take over the decorating. She surprises him when she tells him Carly only made some suggestions and that she had no interest in taking over the decorating. Sonny invites her to stay there on the island tonight. She tells him she has nothing appropriate to wear. Sonny tells Michael that he can't go out swimming with him right now and that he is taking Jordan out to dinner tonight. He asks him if she is here to talk about his divorce. Sonny doesn't really give him an answer and tells him he is going to go shower and reminds Michael to mind Leticia. The phone rings and Michael answers it. It is the intruder who has been wandering around Sonny's new home. He asks Michael if Sonny is there. Michael tells him he is in the shower right now. The intruder asks Michael how things are going on the island. Michael tells him everything is fine there. The unknown intruder tape records the phone conversation for some mysterious reason and calls some unknown person to tell him/her everything is going as planned.

Later, Jordan comes out to show Sonny the dress she is wearing that she found in the closet that fits her. Sonny gives her a diamond necklace to wear with it. He puts it on her and the close proximity unnerves her and she tells Sonny she can't do this with him and that she just wants to be his lawyer. She tells him she has changed her mind about dinner and that she is going to try and catch the next flight out tonight. Sonny doesn't stop her but is pleased that he effected.

Carly goes to see Alcazar to warn him that her father and Steven are after him in connection to Mary Bishop's murder. Lois is there and asks what is going on. She confronts Alcazar about lying to her about his involvement in Mary Bishop's murder. Carly leaves. Carly finds Steven at the hospital and warns him that he could get himself killed if he goes after Alcazar. Steven asks her if she is concerned about his safety or Alcazar's. Steven explains to Carly that John Durant asked him to look at the forensic evidence on the Mary Bishop murder and that he found evidence that linked Alcazar to her murder and that John chose to sit on the evidence and not bring any charges against Alcazar at the time. Carly realizes John is bringing charges against Alcazar to keep him away from her. Steven tells her John doesn't like Alcazar or him near her. Carly tells him that John has no right to run her life since she is an adult and she tells him she chooses to be by herself without a man for now.

She takes off looking for Durant at Kelly's and runs into Lois. Lois asks to speak to her right now. Carly assures her she just wanted to warn Alcazar since Mary Bishop deserved to die since she killed his niece. She tells Lois she has no interest in Alcazar romantically and that she isn't in love with him at all.

Lorenzo pulls Carly into a kiss, but she pulls away and warns him that she didn't help him because she wants to get back together with him. Lorenzo refuses to hear her, and tells her that he continues to be in love with her and knows she feels for him too. Carly admits to caring, but tells him that a relationship with him is a road that she cannot venture down again, and she leaves. Carly, angry from her exchange with Lorenzo, returns to her apartment and is unable to get her door unlocked. Steven arrives home a minute later, and helps her get into her apartment. Carly vents her frustrations to him, and he manages to cheer her slightly when he asks her out on a real date. Carly accepts, and Steven wonders if they might be able to get to the next step of a romance after all.

Jordan arrives on Sonny's Island and informs her client that, since Ric and Alexis are separated, Sonny should sue immediately for sole custody of Kristina. The mysterious stranger continues to lurk at Sonny's new house. Later, Security Officer Stan reports to Sonny that there is a glitch in the security system for the new house, while the mysterious stranger watches Stan on a hidden camera. Afterward, as Sonny and Jordan discuss fabrics for the new house, Jordan suddenly declares that she is not interested in a 'fling' with Sonny and bolts out of the apartment

Later, on the island, as Sonny and Michael discuss the possibility of Kristina living with Sonny, Ric suddenly arrives and appeals to Sonny not to take advantage of Ric's split with Alexis to try to gain custody of Kristina. Although Sonny rips Ric for Ric's dubious motives for marrying Alexis, Ric continues to argue that Ric has come to truly care for Alexis and Kristina and that it is obviously best for Kristina to remain in the secure home that Alexis has provided since the little girl's birth. But Sonny coldly brushes aside all of Ric's arguments.

Carly arrives at Jason's Penthouse and warns Sam not to hurt Jason. Carly then reassures Sam that Carly will do what she can to convince Bridget to leave Hope with Jason and Sam but emphasizes that Carly is only taking that action because of Jason not because Carly believes that Sam deserves any kind of consideration from Carly. Later, Carly returns home and runs in to Steven, who again suggests that Carly should be taking some time out for herself, instead of running herself ragged in an effort to help Sonny decorate his new house.

Carly meets with Jason at Kelly's and reports that Carly tried to convince Sam that Courtney has not been attempting to sabotage Sam's relationship with Jason. However, Jason becomes upset when Carly reports that she asked Lorenzo to appeal to Bridget to leave Hope with Jason and Sam. Jason orders Carly to call Lorenzo off and storms away from Kelly's, after warning Carly to quit trying to help him. Lorenzo warns Carly that Courtney may be subconsciously trying to sabotage Jason's adoption of Baby Hope, whether Courtney realizes it or not.

Carly and Jordan arrive at Sonny's new house with some last minute items before his arrival. When they see what looks to be someone with a flashlight moving around inside, Carly picks up a thick branch to confront the intruder with. She enters the house and knocks the intruder over the head. It turns out to be John Durant. He tells her was at a nearby track and decided to check out the new home where his grandsons would be spending quite a bit of time. Carly doesn't believe him for a minute. When Rollo and Jordan walk in moments later, Carly instructs Rollo to get the compound's security system fully operational by the time Sonny returns later that evening. Then she deals with her father. She lets him know in no uncertain terms that her loyalty is with Sonny and that she will do whatever is in her power to ensure that Sonny remains a free man and that she will do it because her sons love their father.

Carly is less than pleased to see Ric arrive with Brook Lynn and Kristina and shows him the door within minutes of his arrival. As Brook Lynn, Jordan, Carly and Kristina stand in the foyer a mystery person watches via a hidden camera. After a call from Rollo, the mystery person presses a button that turns off the lights. The women are a bit unnerved by the second system failure.

Carly, Jordan, Brook, and Kristina are engulfed in darkness when the lights go out at Sonny's new mansion. Carly immediately springs into action and takes aim when she hears an intruder at the door. It turns out to be one of Sonny's guards and they quickly get the power back on. Just as the light returns, Sonny and Michael burst through the front door and ecstatically look at the new house. As the kids run around and find their new playroom, Sonny and Carly share a moment of closeness where they agree that family should always come first. Sonny reminds Carly that she will always be a part of his family, but Alexis rushes into the room and breaks up the harmony. She blasts Sonny for taking Kristina to view his house and not arranging it with her first. Sonny brushes her off, and refuses to allow her to dampen his mood.

A brief interruption occurs when Max grabs Diego outside. He assures Sonny that he was only there to see Brooke. Relieved of her babysitting duties, Brook happily leaves with her boyfriend. Alexis gathers up Kristina to leave, but Sonny instead wants to take his daughter to open her present. Alexis protests Sonny's spoiling of their daughter, but Carly warns her not to spoil the moment. Michael shows up just as the mystery person is about to nab Kristina. Carly has a heart-to-heart talk with Courtney and says she has to decide if it's Jax she loves or Jason. Sonny poses Jason with the same question about Sam and Courtney.

Michael interrupts Sonny and Jason. He reports that Kristina's bear appeared right after Max and Michael ran around the courtyard, having a snowball fight. Sonny quizzes Max about Kristina's bear and discovers that Max did leave the little girl unguarded for a minute. Sonny sends Jason to look for signs of an intruder, then cautions Michael about speaking to strangers and urges Michael to keep an eye on his sister as well. All the while, the mysterious stranger eavesdrops on all of their conversations via the hidden cameras.

Sam visits Sonny and asks Sonny to do whatever it takes for Sam to get Hope back. Sonny assures Sam that she can count on Sonny's help. However, when Sonny takes his gun out, Sam argues that she does not want Sonny to terrorize Bridget's grandmother. However, Sonny reminds Sam that, once a plan to gain custody of Hope has been put into motion, events could possibly get out of control and anything could happen. As Sonny starts to head out of door, Sam stops him having second thoughts.

Steven stops by Carly's place. They talk about her relationship with Sonny and Carly admits that she doesn’t think she will ever feel like that about anyone else.
