2002 AMC Weekend I wound up going both days to the AMC SSW events. I taped five of the Q&A's and three of the Casting Call sessions. The Q&As was held outdoor in a small amphitheatre and the actors were asked questions by fans in the audience. I went to all 4 of the Q&A's on Saturday. I only went to one Q&A on Sunday and then went to three of the Casting Calls. These were very funny events. Three ladies were selected from the audience to do a scene with the host Walt Wiley. Then one of those ladies was selected to then do another scene with the guest actor. Walt is very funny and very charming and great with the fans. I used my tripod for these events so the picture is pretty stable. It was overcast Saturday am so wasn't as bright as the Q&As later in the day and on Sunday.I put together two tapes, one is 2 hrs 40 mins and the other is 2 hrs 30 mins. I did all the taping on SP on my digital video camera and did all the editing on SP to provide the highest possible quality. To avoid confusion between the SSW 2001 FL tapes and future SSW tapes rather than using a #1 for the first tape below I decided to just pick up where I left off from the FL SSW tapes. So I had three tapes from FL SSW 2001 (edits #1-3) and so I will pick up with #4 and #5 for the AMC SSW events in LA, then use #6 for the OLTL events this weekend, ect. That way you can order them by SSW tape # and not have to include the year, the location, the event, ect. I decided not to do the tapes in sequence as the events occurred but instead to do two separate tapes and try to organize it by actor as some fans aren't interested in all of the events but only in a certain actor. For instance, Michael and Cameron's appearances are on #4, Vincent's, Finola's, Susan's, and Jack's are on #5. The Breakfast with the Stars is on the #5. This was my favorite event and the highlight of the weekend as we got to meet and greet up close and personal with 6 of the actors. SSW #4 - April 6th & 7th California Adventure, Anaheim 2 hrs 40 mins – SP1) Saturday 11:00 Q&A hosted by Linda Dano - Guests Michael E. Knight, Marcy Walker, David Canary, Jill Larson. 9 mins clips of AMC and other ABC soaps (shown prior to event beginning).Michael talks about a movie he just completed. (At first the sound isn't loud though it is audible. After the first couple of questions they bring out a large hand held mic that works much better than the lapel pin mics). Linda gives a gentleman in the audience a kiss when he asks. David then gives a fan a hug. The actors joke about wanting to go into a coma every couple of years as they get to go to work and lie in bed. Then Michael jokes about everyone on his show being in full make up in the hospital. David talks about the differences between playing Adam and Stuart. Linda teases Jill about wearing scotch tape on her forehead while she sleeps. Michael also gives out hugs and kisses to two fans. When a fan asks about how Skye not being Adam's daughter but now Alan's daughter came about, the cast teases him when he pretends to be ignorant about this plot point. David talks about growing "dangerously fond" of a couple of his leading ladies. In this first event I didn't use as many close ups but did more of a full cast shot. After this event I did more zooming in on each actor which provided a better picture as each was talking. (44 mins to this point) 2) Sunday 1:00 Casting Call hosted by Walt - Michael E. Knight guest 3) Sunday 11:00 Q&A - Hosted by Linda Dano. Guests - Michael E. Knight,
Cameron Mathison, Marcy Walker, David Canary, Jill Larson. 4) Sunday 2:45 Casting Call - Hosted by Walt, guest Cameron 5) Saturday 1:00 Q&A hosted by Linda Dano - guests John Callahan, Julia Barr, J. Eddie Peck, Rebecca, Amelia. John tells fans about what goes on during party scenes. John is very funny when a fan mentions Edmund marrying Brooke and then asks what if Maria returns. He describes that she is dead and then acts out the plane crash as though fans can't comprehend the concept (this was hysterical). Linda points out that without a body no one is ever dead on a soap. He does say he would tell her about the fan support and ask her about returning (but said he is only her husband and had absolutely NO influence with her). Julia does a little tape dance at Linda's request. J. Eddie says they get fined $150 every time they hug somebody. John jokes that it is in Disney dollars as he gives out another hug. Linda teases that Rebecca knits, not something one would expect associated with Greenlee. She made a black and white skull and crossbones sweater for Finola's little boy. In another funny moment, a "fan" asks John to remove his hat and sunglasses and asks if he didn't do his hair that morning. He laughs that this person is related to his dead wife (meaning his real life wife Eva LaRue). Then she asks him to sing which he insists he can't do and asks why she is torturing him, what did he do to make her mad? Not go to her Easter party or something? (this was all very funny) 6) Autograph Session - short clips of J. Eddie, Rebecca, and Amelia signing 7) The Cast Photo Op - the cast goes down the parade route on a large float type thing. I included shots of both days. I got some especially good shots of Susan Lucci, Jack Scalia, and Walt. These clips are on both tapes. 8) Soap Center Crew - I briefly interviewed Melanie the interviewer from soapnet and her camera woman. (same ladies from the GH event). This is on both tapes. SSW #5 April 6th & 7th - California Adventure, Anaheim 2 hrs 30 mins1) Saturday 3:15 Q&A - Finola, Vincent, Marj, TeriThe first question is for a hug from everyone. Then they are asked about their training and experience. Teri does a dance from being a performer for Disneyland. David gives out another hug. Teri talks about moving to Manhattan on 9/4/01 and how the cast welcomed her and took care of her in the wake of 9/11. Finola is asked about the possibility of robin returning and she says that she hopes Robin will come back for another short appearance (as she is busy with other projects so a longer role wouldn't be an option). Teri is asked about kissing Mateo while Haley is on the set. (32 mins) Finatics shown 2) Sunday 4:00 Casting Call - hosted by Walt, Vincent guest 3) Sunday 5:00 Q&A hosted by Linda Dano - guests Finola, Vincent, Marj, Teri (this is the last Q&A of the weekend) A fan from Italy asks Finola who was the best kisser between John Travolta playing Tony Manero (from Saturday Night Fever), Tristan Rogers (Robert, GH), or Vincent. She picks Vincent! He speaks some Italian to the fan, great accent. They are asked about when their interest in performing began. Two fans from Hawaii bring Vincent and Finola fresh leis that they have made. The next fan gives Vanessa a snake paying tribute to her fear of having to do a scene with a snake. This gift becomes her lei and she wears it around her neck and it matches her outfit! The timing of this gift was priceless! Then a little girl asks Vincent if he loves his mom (meaning Vanessa). When he gives a round about answer about the difficulties between them, she questions that he doesn't love his mother? And sounds a bit surprised/disappointed. So he quickly professes his love for Vanessa. Then someone who works for the LAPD tells Finola that there is an opening for a new chief of police and asks if she would be interested. This was pretty funny! (1:24) 4) Saturday 5:15 Q&A hosted by Linda Dano - guests Susan Lucci, Jack Scalia, Elizabeth (Frankie), Alicia (Kendall), Eden (Bianca). The actors are asked about their most embarrassing moments on the show. Susan tells about her nightgown falling off during a love scene. Jack teases her when she can't recall which leading man she was working with at the time. She then impresses the audience by naming all of Erica's husbands. The actors discuss their personal lives, spouses/ children/marital status. Alicia and Eden give glowing words of praise to La Lucci who returns the praise and this ends in hugs all around between the Kane women. Jack joks that fans should enjoy the moment since they aren't likely to see that affection on screen any time soon! Lucci tells how she got the role of Erica, and they all talk about getting their roles on AMC. (2:02) 5) Sunday 2:45 Q&A - hosted by Linda Dano - guests Susan Lucci, Jack Scalia, Elizabeth, Alicia, Eden. I only taped 7 minutes of this event. I had come out of another event and stood up on a stone bench above the amphitheatre, so the picture is a bit jumpier than in the other events (as during those I was seated using a tripod to provide a stable picture). Alicia talks about a love scene that she just taped with Cameron that hasn't yet aired. Jacks says he is anxiously awaiting for Chris and Erica to consummate their relationship. They talk about when they decided to pursue acting or got hooked on it. Susan tells a funny story about her dog. He had no name and a friend suggested naming the dog, "Emmy" since she didn't have one at the time. Helmut, her husband, said "To hell with Emmy lets name him Oscar!" and it stuck! So her dog is named Oscar. 6) Breakfast with the Stars - This was held inside the Soap Opera Bistro so I got some good shots of the interior (this was part of the hotel package and I highly recommend it). Eden comes by to meet and greet with fans and sends a message to those who couldn't make it. I taped a fan detailing how she arrived for Lucci's autograph line at 5:00 am (started outside the park) and there were 50 people in line having started at 3:00 am! Then Jill Larson comes by, followed by Susan Lucci herself. I got to speak with her and shake her hand (and didn't have to get there at 3:00 am to do so!). For those curious I'm in the Disney sweatshirt - you can see me reaching to get the video camera back from the security guy. Then David Canary makes the rounds, followed by Alicia, then John Callahan (in this picture I'm in front on the right of the group shot). (2:30) Brief shot as leaving bistro, showing John signing autographs. 7) The Cast Photo Op - the cast goes down the parade route on a large float type thing. I included shots of both days. I got some especially good shots of Susan Lucci, Jack Scalia, and Walt. These clips are on both tapes. |
