Reasons Why

Reasons Why

I could bore you by telling you my feelings on every single BtVS episode and how it portrayed anything B/X, but I'm too nice for that. I figured I'd just give you a general viewing on their relationship. So here goes:

Xander's very obvious about his feelings toward Buffy. He really and truly loves her. Some people say he doesn't, they say it was just a crush, but I know that it wasn't. He admitted that he loved her on more than one occasion. He obsessed over her. He was definitely in love.

Buffy, on the other hand, loved Angel. Although I'm not a big fan of Buffy/Angel, I do think that their relationship made the second season great. But it also gave me some more reasons on why B/X. Buffy slept with Angel, he went psycho, she spent most of the series crying over him. I believe that Xander could never make Buffy cry the way Angel did. Xander's a funny guy, he's a really sweet guy, and I can't think of one reason why he would make Buffy unhappy. Angel made Buffy very unhappy. Yeah, I know, she loved him, and he loved her, but I really do think that their whole relationship has been played out. The main idea was that Buffy finds love at a young age, she gets heatbroken, yet she still loves him. For awhile it's sweet, but soon it gets very old, and sort of boring.

Another reason I'm supporting Buffy and Xander is because of the scenes they have together. Yes, the scenes. It may be lame, but just think about it for awhile. Most scenes they have together is so cute and carefree. They don't cry over each other. They're good friends, but they don't take things too seriously when they're around each other. I think that's what they both need. A relationship that's not built on angry and sad emotions. They both need someone who can make them feel good.

I think since the relationship has not been explored yet, it also offers some great plot ideas for the series. They've never been together, they don't have too many romantic scenes, and that could do so much for the show. A lot of people are against their relationship, and I think it's because they have no idea what it would be like. I don't know either, but it definitely opens up some doors.

There are some people I do not think Buffy or Xander should be with. I think I'll start with the most popular: Buffy and Angel.

I've pretty much explained why I don't think Buffy and Angel is going to work any more. Angel's gone! He's got his own little show now, so no matter how many cross-overs they do, it's not going to make it any easier. I'm not saying Buffy needs to stop loving Angel, (although, it would be nice) I just think it's time to move on. Yeah, we get it: Forbidden love, vampire and slayer, tortured soul, sitch in the curse... But after awhile, you play that story over and over and it gets tiring. Third season Buffy was constantly crying over Angel... And for what? She already found out in the second season that she couldn't be with him, and we all had ourselves a good cry over it. And in a lot of ways, Angel is just plain bad for Buffy. She's the slayer. She's died once already, has to deal with death every day of her life. She's a little unstable. So does she really need a vampire boyfriend in her life? Someone she can never be happy with, or else he'll lose his soul and have her deal with more death? It seems to me that Angel only brings unhappiness into Buffy's life. She cried over him when he went schizo, then she takes him back, knowing they can never be together, and that only makes her more unhappy.

Xander and Cordelia. When this relationship first came about, I didn't mind it too much. I thought it was funny, and I kind of thought it would be nothing more than a fling. Then it got more serious, and eventually it ended up being a bit on the fling-y side. First of all, even when Xander and Cordelia started dating, he still loved Buffy. He admitted to that. Afterwards, it got more serious, and I think they both came to love each other. Then their relationship ended (Willow/Xander). Xander may have still loved Cordy, and vice versa, but it seemed they moved on pretty quickly. They didn't deal with that relationship much after it ended, so it's pretty much over. Cordelia moved onto Wesley. And if she used Wesley as toy to make Xander jealous, that's okay, because we already knew it was over by then.

Willow and Xander. I'm strongly against this one for a few reasons. Willow and Xander are best friends. Not like Buffy and Xander, because Buffy and Xander aren't as close as Buffy and Willow or Willow and Xander. Xander and Willow would hurt way too many people. Wait, no-- It's already hurt too many people. It hurt Oz and Cordelia, and when that happened, it also hurt Willow and Xander. I know Xander was Willow's first crush, but I think now she's moved onto Oz and Xander getting back into her life like that would only complicate things.
