Character of the Month - July 2000

This section is where we decide who has been the best character on Days. We both separately pick a male and a female to hold this position.

Mandy's Choice for Male Character of the Month

My pick for male Character of the Month is Shawn for a few reasons. Reason number one is for taking both Mimi and Belle to the dance. We all know that he just wanted to take Belle, but I think it is nice how he felt sorry for her and took Mimi along as well. Plus, he’s gotta be hot stuff to show up at a dance with TWO dates! I have two words for him: big pimp. Everybody loves a pimp. :o) Another reason I picked Shawn is for saving Chloe at the dance. Although it was kinda cheesy how they set that scene up, it was quite heroic of him to save her like that. And it was cool that he let Philip take the hit – looking at the way Philip had been treating Chloe before that night, Philip deserved to get the chicken blood. Also, another reason for choosing Shawn is because of his desire to help Mimi and her family. It was so cute how he carried Conner to the hospital! Shawn sure is a good guy. The final reason that Shawn is my pick of the month is because of his neat-o dance moves at the Last Blast Dance. Even though I thought that dance scene was ultra-cheesy, it takes a lot for a guy to shake his hips like that, and I respect that in a guy! I know that I could never get my boyfriend to dance like that with me!!

Mandy's Choice for Female Character of the Month

My pick for female Character of the Month for July is Chloe. I am choosing her for one big reason – her “unveiling” at the Last Blast Dance. Chloe has taken so much crap from the kids at Salem High since she has arrived (especially those pukes Jan and Jason) it is about time she came out on top for once. When she came into the dance, all of those meanies were chanting “Ghoul Girl, Ghoul Girl” over and over, and it was soooo wonderful to watch her take off her shroud, let down her hair and reveal how beautiful she is. That sure shut them up! And it was cool how she kinda stuck it to Philip – he was all worried about coming to the dance with a “freak” and made a big fuss about it. She taught him, as well as everyone else, a big lesson. I think she was always pretty, and while it is kinda sad that she had to change her appearance to let everyone accept her, it is still good because she showed everyone that you never really know how a person is. She was beautiful all along, the only change was that she finally let everyone see it.

Melissa's Choice for Male Character of the Month

My male character of the month would have to be Brandon Walker. Yes, he is kind of a snake, but he goes after what he wants and it seems to be working for him. He has Lexie, Larry, and Sami eating right out of his hand. Not that Lexie has been too smart lately, but Brandon has her believing every word he says. He has convinced her that he wants only peace and the Abe Carver mess is all behind him. Brandon has even gotten Lexie to side with him over Abe on a few occasions. Not only that he has Larry fooled. Brandon has convinced him that Abe is a bad person and he needs to seek revenge. Little does Larry know that Brandon has his own intentions. Then there is the devious Sami. Brandon is using Sami’s schemes and turning the tables against her. He has almost gotten her to dump Austin who she has been obsessed with for years and convinced her to lie to him. And now he is taking her to romantic Italy! Man this guy is good. Not only is he a pimp, but he seems to always know how to get what he wants.

Melissa's Choice for Female Character of the Month

My female character of the month is Chloe. I think it was so cool how she revealed her new look to everyone at the Last Blast. I don’t think there would have been a better time to do what she did. It was great to see those “Ghoul Girl” chants turn to cheers and to show everyone who she is. I loved the horrified looks on Jason and Jan, having their plan backfire! I feel bad that she had to suffer through this school year, but in one night she managed to turn that around. I kind of wish everyone would have accepted her before her transformation, but I guess maybe that isn’t realistic. It was also good that she didn’t dump Philip at the dance. Chloe showed she had class sticking with Philip with all the crap he put her through this year. She proved she was a better person than him. It took a lot of guts to do what she did at the Last Blast and you have to admire that!
