The Horton Attic by Kat

EVER WONDERED WHERE ALL THE MISSING CHARACTERS GO? SOME OF THEM END UP HERE, IN THE HORTON ATTIC.

As Wendy grabbed a donut, she could see the shuddering body of Brady suffering from another attack of SORAS. No one could help him. Laura, Marcus and Neil had not been able to help Belle or Phillip either. Wendy was hoping that Benjamin wouldn’t be next. From the outside the Horton house looked like any other house, but inside things were not what they seemed.

They were all sick of the food. Donuts, Seafood Chowder, Black Coffee and the occasional hamburger from the Brady Pub.

Jo (Jacks Mom) handed Laura a cool cloth for Brady’s forehead. The poor kid needed to get out, they all did. The Mayor of Salem, (with the initials of KC) had banished them to the oblivion of the attic.

The real Austin and Jonah were ready to smash their way out, Austin wanted to get his life back from the idiot that had replaced him. Marcus had to hold him back. But although Jaime wanted to get out she wanted to keep this Austin for herself.

Neil Curtis was watching her “Jaime, he is just blowing off steam just like the rest of us do sometimes. I’ll make sure he doesn’t do anything stupid. Please help Wendy keep Benjamin away from Brady, SORAS is still very contagious.”

A door in the attic creaked open and Doug and Julie fell through. Their parole was over and the Mayor has sent them back.

Doug handed some things to Laura, there was a bag of chips and a small black box.

“As long as Stefano is blackmailing the Mayor we have to be careful. Hopefully Jo and Laura’s plan will work.” Julie said to everyone that had gathered around.

Neil and Laura walked over to the corner of the room put some of the chips into the panel on the front of the box. “This box will give the illusion to Stefano that we are still here” she said. “ I found some things that Peter had hidden in Jen’s house. This was one of them.”

Laura, Neil, Doug and Jaime used the sheets they had to lower themselves out the small attic window and down to the ground.

It was time to deal with the mayor. Detouring by the Di Mera mansion for one more thing, they went to the Mayor’s house and broke in.

As Neil and Doug held the mayor still , Laura used Kristen’s hypnotic whirly-gig to hypnotize him, while Jaime kept a lookout for Stefano’s henchmen.

“Ken you will arrange release tonight back into Salem in the people you have put into the Horton attic. You will resign from Office, and live in the attic. When you wake up you will not remember us being here, you will only obey your orders.”

They hid in the back of the room (this is Salem you can hide behind a twig and never be found) until the Mayor got them released. The missing Salem residents made their to the ex Mayor’s house and carried him off into the attic.

After a visit to the Chinese takeaway for dinner, (they needed something decent to eat after all those donuts) it was time to sort out Stefano.

Stefano heard them before he saw them. He ordered Rolfe to start the helicopter. As they tried to escape one of the bullets Stefano fired hit Rolfe, as the helicopter crashed to the ground they knew Stefano would survive. He was the Phoenix after all, and that he would rise again. But that is another story.

Unfortunely they were unable to stop the SORAS at the hospital. Brady has lost 10 years of his childhood and will need therapy for the rest of his life. Perhaps if Mike Horton was in Salem he could have saved him??!! This is our VERY FIRST fanfic and it is from Mandy's online buddy, Kat. We are very excited to share this cool story with you all...

As Laura sat down , and looked around at the rest of the boxes she had to unpack, the realisation of how much her life had changed over the past three months hit her.

Her new apartment was in the same Building that John and Marlena lived in. It was beautiful with an amazing view of Salem, but she couldn't help wishing it all hadn't happended so quick.

Four months earlier Marlena has suggested that Laura spend some time with Mike in Israel and Jen in New Zealand. Thinking a change of scene might be just what she needed she agreed. One month each in New Zealand and Israel as Laura did not want to wear out her welcome with either Jen or Mike.

After mentioning to Roman that she was going to see Carrie and would take her a letter from him, Roman told Laura that he has been thinking about going to see Carrie as well. Laura suggested that perhaps they could travel together, as another familiar face in Israel would be very welcome.

The flights that took them to Israel were thankfully uneventful, and as Larua got to know Roman she could see what had first attracted Marlena to him.

Spending time with Mike, Carrie and Jeremy, and helping them in their clinic was the distraction that Laura needed to start recovering from the events of the past three years. The business with Kristen, Stefano and Peter had taken their toll in more ways than one.

Roman enjoyed his time is Israel as well and could understand why Marlena and Laura were such good friends.

Eventually it was time to say good to them and board the first of the flights that would take her to Auckland, Jen Jack and Abby.

They spent a month touring New Zealand, enjoying the beautiful scenery and spending time with Abby and Jen. To Laura it seemed that time had flown so quickly and before she knew it she was back at Auckland Airport, ready to fly back to Salem. Before she left Abby made her promise to came soon for another visit.

As much as Laura missed her children, she was glad to be back home in Salem.

Problem was that the house now seemed so big and empty. Over Lunch with Marlena she mentioned this, and Marlena suggested that she move in with Alice, rent the house out and John will arrange an apartment for her in the building. Laura spent the next three weeks packing the house during the day and spending time with Alice, Mickey and Maggie at night.

One night Roman rang and invited her out to dinner to show here the photos he took while he was in Israel. As usual Roman was great company and they spend most of dinner laughing.

As they were looking through the photos their hands accidentally touched, and when she looked at his face, she could tell the smile on his face wasn't just because of the memories they shared of their trip. Laura began to realise that she was starting to have feelings that she hadn't had in a long time.

After dinner they went for a walk along the pier. She could see that the space between them was getting smaller. Roman offered her his arm and then turned to face her. As she heard the lapping of the sea against the pier and felt her heart race, he learnt forward and kissed her.
