Things to Ponder

Sometimes things on Days don't really add up. Here are a few things that we have questioned about the storyline of DOOL. If you know of any that we should include on here, fill out the form below. (The names of the contributors are next to their statements, but if there is no name next to it, that means it is by M&M).

from Morgan - I was just thinking...Sami took a pregnancy test five minutes after her and Austin had sex. Um...it wouldn't show up quite that fast. Duh, Sami.
from Marc - Why is it always so dark at the pier during the day and yet so light at salem place?
from Brittney - If Mimi's family is so poor,why does she have a cell phone? And since when are cell phones allowed in High School?
from Kristin - Ok with all these cell phones. Cell phone don't connect from one country to another. Bo calls Hope from Ireland. That can't work. Its always happening!! Also you can't use cell phones in a hospital. It acts up with the equipment. Also what happend to Nicole's sister Taylor?? Where did she go?? Why isn't she on??
from Erica Ginn - Well, if Nicole really does have "fatty liver", then why can she still drink like a sailor without any ill effects? I mean, they only diagnosed her, they never treated her. I doubt she would be able to handle any amount of liquor at all. Oh and by the way, "fatty liver" does not usually result in syptoms of severe pain! Usually there are no symptoms at all(especially not doubling over in pain), in fact, Nicole's symptoms seem to be more related to acute indigestion. Basically, although Nicole does have a lot of problems, "fatty liver" is not likely to be one of them!
from Unknown - When Peter was tring John he tried him in Armeid because Salem had no death pentlty. So if this is true how the heck did Sami get the death pentlty?
from Lindsay - When John and Hope had sub sex Marlena found John's bloody pants washed up on the shore- yet when John was found she was not surprised to find him wearing another set.
from Susan - Before Hope delivered her baby, she and Bo secretely got married. Remember when Marlena returned from Africa and mentioned that Jack and Jen regretted missing Bo & Hopes wedding? And all of a sudden Julie, Doug and Alice don't bring up their wedding plans anymore.
from Ginette - Remember Wendy and Jonah.Last I saw someone was following her and her son Benjerman and Wendy was all afraid it was her sons dad. It went on for a few weeks and then hey what do you know ... Wendy,Jonah and Ben all dissapeared. This show is good at writing people out without any explanation.
from Kathy - Whatever happened to the house that Roman bought for Marlena when he first came back to Salem? Why didn't they let Sami move in when she needed a place to stay? Why not donate it to Habitat and earmark it for Mimi's family and take a huge tax write-off? I mean it's been sitting empty for how many years now?
from Kat - Ok where does Greta get her money from? Its not like she goes out to work.
from Harriet - Ok, so Mimi's family is broke and homeless and Alice does the nice thing by buying them a hotel room. Where the heck did the money come for Mimi to suddenly have what looks like permed hair (and the day after that horrible dress she wore to the dance)? And, how many moms do you know let their 16 year old kid make the decision of whether or not they get help for her sick brother? And, I don't care how freakin' rich Victor is, what 16 year old kid wears a $2,000 suit to a school dance???
from Harriet - And where does that southern accent that Mimi's mom has come from? Haven't Mimi and Belle been best friends since kindergarten? That would mean that Mimi's family has been living in the mid-west for long enough for that southern accent to become less obvious. What rock are these writers living under?
from April - Don't any of the kids know that Philip is actually Shawn D's uncle? Victor is Bo's real father and Philip's too. I think that is really weird. They don't even act related!!
from Amy - The fact that some how Jan and Jason were able to get a whole bucket of blood. I mean animal blood or people blood. Animal blood - how'd they get it, people blood - there is currently a huge blood shortage where I live.
from Kathy - After Chloe accepted Phillip's invitation to the Last Blast Dance, she went to Nancy and told her she was going to the dance with Phillip. After a few minutes of Nancy's babbling, she asked Chloe when the dance was, she replied "this Friday" and Nancy said something along the lines of "We have so much to do then..". After that they go shopping for a dress and later on that day its SUDDENLY the night of the Last Blast Dance. Uh huh, sure. Also, how many of you have noticed that it's been the same freakin' day since June 23rd until a few days ago! Days in Salem sure are LONG! I wish I had that much time on my hands.
If Victor fired Nicholas, who has 49% of Titan, then why didn't Kate just fire Vivian when she owned 49%?
from Kara - Do Kate and Victor ever wonder where Philip is during the middle of the night? And doesn't he have a bedroom of his own? Where does he sleep?
from Geoff - Has anyone ever noticed that the new Bo & Hope house is EXACTLY like the old Horton house that Mike, Jenn, and Laura used to live in?? The door is exactly the same, and the living room setup with the stairs and the walls are just like the old Horton house. If this is true, where's Laura living? Speaking of which, where is she?? She hasn't been on since last fall!
If John ends up the father of Hope's baby, then the baby will *also* be Belle's brother. If Shawn and Belle get together, they will be sharing the same brother! How would you feel if your half-brother and half-sister were dating? That kinda makes my stomach turn.
from --- Does anyone else notice how inbred Salem is becoming? Philip and Shawn are both interested in Belle, even though she is distantly related to them (not by blood, but it's still weird). Thank goodness for Chloe and Mimi.
from Kath - With Marlena is rushing off to Africa to help Bill Horton, won't she need an Entry Visa into the African Country. All the vacinations some of which need a booster dose a few weeks later. As nearly all of the Refugees won't speak English she will only be using her Psychiatric skills on the Camp staff. Nope Doc remebers her General Medicne.
from Eva - How come the kids at Salem High had to go to school on New Years? And at first, Belle was already 16 and was going to be a junior, while Shawn was going to be a senior... Now, they're ALL sophomores... whatsupwiththat? Also, when Rolf had the name bracelets change names with body heat, when they were removed, how come they didn't change back to the original names??
from Cassie - Ok, remember when Sami was trying to find a job so that she could have at least a little chance on gaining full custody of Will and she tried to black-mail Kate for one? Why didn't she just go and ask John for one? He practically owns Titan and I'm sure he would have given her one considering the fact that when he thought he was Roman he raised her like she was his own. Why didn't she just do that instead of end up at a job she hates? did they just want it in the storyline?
from Billy - The whole Franco murder [story]line...Normal police proceedure would require a parifin test...A test to prove if you fired a gun...That would have proved Sami NEVER fired that pistol, and we would not have to go thru...weeks/months/years...of this storyline...
from Mary - Remember when John and Hope went with Stefano to find the cure for Roman and Stefano was hiding something under a sheet in the lab where Rolf was working and he was worried Hope would find it. We never found out what that was.
from Melanie - The fact that Nicholas and Kate are getting involved is so wierd because when Nicholas first came to Salem with his mom Carly he became very good friends with a little boy named Shawn D now they haven't even metioned that or the fact the Nicholas and Belle are cousins. Dont cousins ever talk? I dont think they ever said a word to each other.
from Kathy - On the plane when Eric and Greta were talking, and Eric said that he wanted to recreate the picnic they had in France, Greta replied, "just so you know, its uh,kinda winter in France". If it was winter in France why did they bring swimsuits with them?
Okay now, I know Days has done some stupid things in the past, but THIS takes the cake. The whole plane thing really got to me, especially the part when the door opened and Stefano's little helper was sucked out. My (Mandy's) dad is an airline pilot (and he used to fly fighter planes in the USMC) so I explained the whole situation of what happened on Days and he told me some very interesting things. First of all, he said that on Boeings, the doors open against the wind. So if that door would have been blown open, it probably would have immediately shut itself closed because the plane was moving - if it would have been able to open at all. He also made another interesting point...since the plane was only at an altitude of 8500 ft, there was not enough pressure outside the airplane to make all of the junk fly around or for things (including PEOPLE) to get sucked out of the plane. All that crap would not have been wildly flying around the cabin like it was. Another thing he mentioned was that Greta would have been very, very hurt if she would have ventured outside of the plane. She would have been ripped to shreds!! Also, even if the door opened the way that it did, no one would have been able to shut to door since the wind pressure was so great. My dad said that "below 10,000 feet, you are usually limited to about 250 knots" which is approximately 287 mph. There is no way that a little woman (or even a huge, muscular man for that matter) could have shut that door under those speeds and under that kind of force from the wind. That whole scene defied the laws of reality, but that's what makes Days so interesting!
Remember that little brown envelope with the incriminating info on Kate that Sami had? Sami always used to hold that information over Kate's head every single freakin' day! What ever happened to that stuff, and why doesn't Sami ever talk about it anymore? Is the envelope under her mattress in the poolhouse or anything? Kate should go over there sometime and look around for it.
Why is it that every time someone is talking to themselves, NO ONE ever overhears them??? They are usually talking about some sort of incriminating information too, and people are usually right in the room or in the hall - somewhere nearby enough to be overheard but no one ever hears. And sometimes someone will walk into the room when the other person is talking to themselves, stands behind them for about 10 seconds, and it APPEARS that they have heard all! But when he/she asks the other one, "What were you saying/doing?" he/she makes up some stupid excuse and the other person believes it!! Whatsupwitdat?
A caveat of this situation was around last summer when everyone had some sort of ring that they were always talking to. Remember that? "Hope" had John's wedding ring and she's always talked to it, Eric had the engagement ring that he was going to give Nicole and would talk to it (and when Nicole had it she would talk to it too), and Bo always would talk to the engagement ring that was supposed to be for his "fancy face".
Yet ANOTHER caveat of this situation is the whole John's wedding ring thing. Didn't Gina/Hope have that in her possession a lot? I thought that was going to be a clue that would have been found to incriminate John's little "affair" or the fact that Hope was really Gina. What ever happened to it? Was the ring ever found or did I just miss that episode? I bet John would like it back!
(From Cindy) - What the heck is up with these kids suddenly getting older? I understand that Shawn D. was gone for almost a year and he is only a few years older, but what's up with Phillip & Belle? They were closer to Will's age than to Shawn's, so how come they are all the same age now? And, WHERE'S BRADY AT? Will he ever be back?
Remember when Hope found a picture of her and Stefano, and she was afraid of the intimate relationship they might've had. Well, the night Bo asked Hope to marry him she had been transformed into Gina, but the audience didn't know for sure yet. They were kissing and she was thinking about her past relationship with Stefano and that scared her so she slapped Bo. Then she gave this lame excuse of how she had an image about Billie and him being together. Now, if she is Gina, why would she slap Bo because she had an image of Stefano? I mean she seduced him on the sub! Only Hope would freak out about that, not Gina
Remember when Hope was still "possessed" by Princess Gina and she wanted to get the compact back from Billie? Well, there was that day when Hope and Billie were talking on the pier and someone tried to steal Billie's purse (her purse had the compact in it) and Hope got really upset because she knew the compact was in there. Now, remember Nicholas was there, I think it was his "debut" and he was the one that came to the rescue (I think). When he saw Hope and thought it was "Gina" he said something to himself to the exent of, "Gina, is that you? That can't be her...what is she doing here? I must find out..." Whatsupwitdat?! Were they oringinally going to put Nicholas with the whole Princess Gina storyline and then changed it at the last minute?
When Stefano was holding Marlena captive in Paris, he said that he made a whole bunch of Marlena clones. I think he was going to put them all around the world or something. So now that's over with, what happened to the clones? Are they living their own lives now or something? Didn't someone go and try to retrieve them or something? I don't know about you, but I wouldn't want clones of me roaming the Earth without me knowing where they were or what they were doing! :-)
Stefano used to be really secretive about what was in the freezer in the basement of the townhouse. He had alarms and everything. I don't ever remember them telling us what that was. What was in the basement and is it still there?? I doubt we will ever know.
This was a while ago, but it always bothered me while it was happening: When Kristan was pretending to be pregnant and kept that strap-on pillow thing under her shirt, How the heck did nobody notice it was only a pillow?!?! I know this is just TV and "anything" can happen, but that's just a little bit sad.
