DJ
Donna Jo Margaret Tanner, DJ, the oldest daughter of Danny & Pam Tanner, was 10 years old when Full House began. Since the show lasted 8 years, she was 18 years old at the end of the show. Therefore we got to see DJ grow from a little girl, into a young woman.
Being the oldest of three sisters, DJ often feels she has to be grown-up and responsible. When her younger sister Stephanie was upset because their dad couldn’t come to her ballet recital, DJ cheered her up, and tried not to show that she herself was sad, cause their dad had wouldn’t be able to go shopping with her as he had promised. Another time, when Stephanie went to a mother-daughter sleepover party, and was sad because she didn’t have a mother like the other girls did, it was DJ who talked to her, and made her realize that they had a great family, even though they didn’t have a mother. So even though Stephanie is five years younger she and DJ are very close. For five years they also shared a room. But then when DJ turned 15 she finally got her own room again. But of course, like all sisters, DJ and Stephanie also argue sometimes….or actually they argue quite often. But of course they always try to help and support each other.
DJs relationship with her youngest sister Michelle is less complicated, probably because DJ is 10 years older than Michelle, and therefore they are not as close to each other as DJ and Stephanie are. They never shared a room, and they don’t really hang out together that much either. But they are still sisters, and they still do spend some time together. Like when Michelle was about two years old, and DJ had to follow her around for a day to observe her, in order to write a report about her for school. That was a day when DJ really felt she got to know her little sister. Another time was when Michelle, then age 7, was trying several different ways to win any game against DJ. After failing several time, Michelle finally managed to outsmart DJ, by challenging her to do the “Limbo”. Of course Michelle, being a lot smaller than DJ, had no problems winning this. But DJ wasn’t really upset about losing, at least she had a smart little sister!
Since DJ lost her mother when she was only 10 years old, her sisters have always been really important to her. But while growing up she often wished she had her mother to talk to. Of course her dad was always there for her, doing everything he could to help her, it still wasn’t the same as. So DJ was really happy when she got to know her dad’s co-host Rebecca Donaldson. Rebecca is always willing to help DJ with any problem she has, and in many ways she is just like a mom to DJ and her sisters. Of course DJ was thrilled when Rebecca married her uncle Jesse, and moved into the Tanner household.
Over the years DJ has had many interest, including Karate, horses, playing the guitar and writing for her school news paper.
Although DJ has lots of friends, her best friend is Kimmy Gibler, who lives next door. Although DJ and Kimmy are rather different from each other, they still get along great most of the time, and they’ve been friends since they were little.
