Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen
Fraternal twins Mary-Kate Olsen and Ashley Fuller Olsen were born on June 13th 1986. Ashley was born two minutes before Mary-Kate. Their parents are Jarnette (Jarnie) and Dave Olsen, and the twins have a brother named Trent and a sister named Elizabeth (Lizzie). Trent is two years older than the twins, and Lizzie is three years younger than them. Their parents got divorced in 1995, and their father is now remarried to McKenzie. The twins now also have two half-siblings, named Taylor and Jake.
Mary-Kate & Ashley’s careers started when they were only seven months old. Their mother took them to a modelling agency, who signed them up and sent them to an audition for a new television sitcom, named Full House. Even though a pair of twins had actually already been chosen for the part of Michelle, the producers changed their minds when they saw Mary-Kate and Ashley, and gave the part to them. When Full House began the twins were nine months old. Full House was a big success, and the whole world watched Michelle grow from a baby, to a toddler, to a big girl. Michelle learned to talk, walk, read and ride a bike before the eyes of millions of viewers.
In 1992 the girls starred in their first TV-movie, To Grandmother’s House We Go, together with Rhea Perlman and Jerry van Dyke. They also released their first album; Brother for Sale. The next year they released a second album; I am the Cute One, along with a music video named Our First Video. That year they also made a second movie called Double Double Toil and Trouble. In 1994 it was time for another movie, How the West was Fun, with Michele Greene and Martin Mull. That year was also the year the Olsen and Olsen mystery agency opened. In a series of music videos, called The Adventures of Mary-Kate & Ashley, the “Trenchcoat Twins” solve all mysteries before dinner time. A CD, called Give us a Mystery, was also released, containing the music from the from the first two episodes.
All was going great for the twins, but then in 1995 Full House was cancelled. Many thought that this would be the end of the twins careers, but they turned out to be wrong. Instead the twins starred in the big-screen movie It takes two, together with Kirstie Alley and Steve Guttenberg. They also continued making new adventure videos. They also started making a new series of music videos called You’re Invited to Mary-Kate and Ashley’s. In this video series the twins invite their friends to different parties, like Hawaiian Beach Party, Christmas Party and Fashion Party. They also released several CDs with music from their videos, as well as an enormous amount of books based on their TV and video characters.
In 1998 Mary-Kate & Ashley made a movie called Billboard dad, and also began working on a new TV sitcom called Two of a kind. Even though Two of a Kind was popular, it got cancelled after one season. In 1999 the twins released the movie Passport to Paris, as well as a Christmas CD called Cool Yule. In 2000 the twins released the movie Switching Goals. In November they’ll release their new movie Our Lips are Sealed.
