Homicide's 20 Best Music Montages

From its first usage as an unfortunately prescient foreshadowing of crimes to come (Seal's "Killer") to a dirge honoring the life of a well-loved, recently deceased Lieutenant Giardello (Smashing Pumpkin's "Crestfallen"), music has played an intregal role in some of "Homicide"'s greatest episodes and most effective moments. While the inclusion of primarily pop tunes bothered some of the show's purists, the montage, in the right hands, made the powerful, gut-wrenching, the exciting, pulse-pounding, and the tearful, blissfully excruciating.

Based on such factors as appropriateness, syncronicity (between the song and the cinematography, etc.), and dramatic impact, I've compiled a list of "Homicide"'s 20 best music montages.

(Note: I will be updating this page soon, with in-depth looks at certain montages. For many of the songs featured on "Homicide" only brief snippets were played, therefore making it difficult for the viewer to catch the meaning of the lyrics, etc., and, in turn, how exactly the song related to the scene. Hopefully, I can ammend that or, if nothing else, give my own interpretations.)
