Dawson`s Creek:

I`ll Be Home For Christmas

Written By: LeeryAndPotter at LeeryAndPotter@hotmail.com

Disclaimer: Dawson, Joey, Pacey, & the rest are the property of Kevin Williamson and the WB network. I don’t own them, so please don’t sue.

Category: D/P friendship…with some D/J overtones. HA, you didn’t think I’d write non-D/J fic, did you?

Rating: PG-13, basically, if you can watch the show, you can read this.

Spoilers: This story takes place 15 years into the future. Joey’s nephew, Alexander(called "Alex") and Dawson’s younger sister, Lilian(Lily) are best friends. An adult Pacey Witter, who for some reason never left Capeside, befriends them, but for some reason disapears whenever Dawson and Joey come to visit. What could have happened between the three of them to cause this? And what is the current status of Dawson and Joey’s relationship?

Editors Note: I know I haven’t finished "Rumors" yet, but I wanted to write something special for the holiday season. I really hope everyone enjoys this fic, because I’m having lots of fun writing it.

Capeside, December 2015. Many things have changed here over the years. On the other hand, others…

Shows a rowboat moving across the creek.

…remain drastically the same.

The rowboat arrives at a dock. Out step the driver. 16-year old Alex Potter. He looks at his surroundings, then walks towards a large house. He stops at a ladder, leading up to one of the windows.

Inside the bedroom, it has changed drastically since we’ve last seen it. The room is once again lined with movie posters, both old and new, but they are now framed. One of the posters, an action thriller, says "directed by Dawson Leery" at the bottem. The walls have also been repainted, sort of an aqua-green. The bed sheets are different as well, and there’s new furniture too. It’s obvious this is a girl’s room.

Alex climbs through the window.

ALEX: Brrr. If it gets any colder, I’m going to have to attach skates on the bottem of my boat.

A 14-year old girl turns to face him. She’s tall, with dark, long hair and light-blue eyes. She also seems to have a very positive attitude about her.

LILY: Well, considering it’s winter, you could just walk over here.

ALEX: It’s tradition. I’ve been rowing my boat over here since I was 7.

LILY: Yeah, and every single year it gets stuck there when the creek freezes.

Alex gives her the "evil eye".

ALEX: So, what we watching?

Lily looks through a pile of movies.

LILY: Uhm…A.I., Friday The 13th, Unbreakable, or…The English Patient.

ALEX: I’ve never seen that entire movie.

LILY: Why not?

ALEX: I don’t know. For some reason, I always seem to fall asleap halfway through it. Besides, I don’t really like war movies.

LILY: Come on. It’s a classic.

ALEX: They all just run into each other.

LILY: Even "Saving Private Ryan"?

ALEX: Especially "Saving Private Ryan".

Lily closes her eyes and nods her head.

ALEX: Don’t give me that whole "my big brother in a famous movie director, therefore I know absolutely everything about movies" routine.

Suddenly, they both hear a noise.

ALEX: What was that?

LILY: Relax. It was probably just the wind.

ALEX: Remember, usually when someone says "it’s just the wind" it’s really some deranged killer.

LILY: It came from my closet. I doubt a "crazed killer" would be there.

ALEX: Ok, then you check it out.

Lily walks over to the closet, opens it…

…and a dead body with a knife sticking out of it falls out.

Lily lets out a high-pitched scream.

LILY: AHHHHHHH!

Suddenly, the dead body starts to laugh. Then it gets up and removes the fake knife from itself. Alex starts to laugh.

ALEX: Okay, even I’ve got to admit. That was a good one.

LILY: I wasn’t scared.

ALEX: Yes you were.

LILY: Tell me, why am I always the target of Pacey Witter’s pranks?

PACEY: Because if I pulled them on your mom, old Mitch would break me in half.

33-year-old Pacey Witter cracks his signiture grinn before placing the fake knife on a nearby table. He hasn’t changed that much. He wears the exact same cloths he wore 15 years ago, and has the same "Ceasar-style" haircut. If it wasn’t for the age lines and 4 o’clock shadow on his face, you would think he were still a teenager.

PACEY: So, what’s up?

LILY: We were about to watch "The English Patient".

PACEY: May I suggest a movie that doesn’t totally blow?

LILY: (under her breath) Not you too.

PACEY: Besides, Alex here’s just going to fall alseap like he always does. He hasn’t been able to stay awake through that movie since he was born.

ALEX: How do you know that?

PACEY: Your aunt told me. That movie was your personal lulLiby.

LILY: Tell me something Pace. You knew Alex’s aunt, right?

PACEY: Right.

LILY: Then how come we never see you around here whenever his aunt and uncle come to visit?

Pacey doesn’t answer. Instead, he goes over to the radio and turns it on.

PACEY: Hey, here’s an idea. Lets listen to some tunes.

LILY: There you go, avoiding the subject.

PACEY: You becha, Miss Leery.

"Jingle Bells" starts to play.

PACEY: Ugh. Christmas is still three weeks away. Why are they playing this already?

ALEX: It’s tradition.

PACEY: I’d rather hold off "tradition" for a few more days, thank you.

He changes the station. An old, familier song starts to play

SONG BEGINS

So open up your morning light,

And say a little prayer for I.

You know that if we are to stay alive.

Then see the peace in every eye.

ALEX: Oh no. Not this.

PACEY: What’s wrong with it.

ALEX: This song was made before I was born.

PACEY: It’s a classic.

Pacey starts humming it, while Alex and Lily nod their heads in disapproval.

(Cut to New York City skyline.)

On the street, a limo pulls up in the front of Macy’s. Out of the limo, wearing a suit, comes 33-year-old, world famous filmmaker, Dawson Leery.

Dawson looks up at the snow falling from the sky in admiration, then he looks at his watch.

DAWSON: Oh god, I am so late.

Then he runs across the street.

She had two babies.

One was six months,

one was three

Horn honks at him

In the war of '44.

("A Warner Brothers Production" appears on the screen)

Dawson narrowly ducks under a sign being carried bye two men.

Every telephone ring,

every heartbeat stinging

("A Kevin Williamson film" appears on the screen)

When she thought it was God calling her.

Dawson gets to the front door and starts panting.

Oh would her son grow to know his father.

Dawson runs into Macy’s.

("Dawson`s creek: I`ll be home for christmas" appears on the screen)

I don’t want to wait

For our lives to be over

(" Staring James Van Der Beek" appears on the screen)

I want to know right now

What will it be

(Dawson leaps over a bench)

("Katie Holmes" appears on the screen)

I don’t want to wait

For our lives to be over

("Joshua Jackson" appears on the screen)

Will it be yes

Or will it be…

("Michelle Williams" appears on the screen)

…sorry.

("Kerr Smith" appears on the screen)

(Dawson dodges several shoppers carrying christmas presents)

("Meredith Monroe" appears on the screen)

(Dawson is looking around the store, searching for someone. The names of several other actors appear on the screen)

GIRL: DADDY!

(Dawson turns his head towards the 3-year-old girl’s direction then runs over to her)

DAWSON: Hey sweetie. How you doing?

GIRL: Good…I got a candy cane from Santy Clause.

(She lifts up the candy cane so Dawson can see it)

DAWSON: Where’s your mom?

(Suddenly, someone taps Dawson on the shoulder. He turns around, and is greeted by a long kiss from an attractive-looking woman with long brown hair)

GIRL: Ewww. (

"Written and directed by Kevin Williamson" appears on the screen)

So open up your morning light,

And say a little prayer for I

You know that if we are to stay alive,

Then see the love in every eye.

SONG ENDS

They break off the kiss and look each other deeply in the eyes.

DAWSON: Hi Jo. Miss me?

The 33-year-old Joey Potter-Leery half-smiles at him.

JOEY: Don’t I always?

To Be Continued... W

ait a minute?

Joey Potter-Leery?

Dawson and Joey were married and we weren’t invited? How did that happen? Furthurmore, how did they get back together in the first place? And why is Pacey so intent on avoiding them?

In the next part, we find out how the triangle ended, as well the what effect it had on everyone. We learn the names of D/J’s kids(that’s right, there’s more than one of them), and what they’ve been doing for the past 15 years.

Till’ next time.
