Disclaimer: Dawson, Joey, Pacey, Jen, Andie, and Jack property of Kevin Williamson and the WB network. Will, Scout, Bella, Hamilton, Jake, and Finn are from ‘Young Americans’, which is also owned by the WB (for now). The song ‘Six Pacs’ (a.k.a. the Young Americans theme) is owned by the Getaway People. The song ‘Ready For A Fall’ is owned by P.J Olsen. I don’t own any of them, so please don’t sue. Category: D/J, a P/A/W triangle, a little S/B, a dash of J/H, and a partrige in a pear tree.

Rating: PG-13, basically, if you can watch the show, you can read this.

Spoilers: The Capeside gang shows up in New Rawley. It’s cross-over time.

Editors Note: Anyone out there like ‘Young Americans’, the Dawson’s Creek spin-off. Well, even though it might still be renewed, the WB is not planning to pick it back up (unless they come to their senses at the last minute). So, I’ve decided to write the cross-over that we’ll probably never see. Part 10-A takes place on DC, while part 10-B will take place on YA. I’ve even included the theme songs to the opposite show in each part. Hope you enjoy

Editors Note 2: Thank you to Madison179 at Fanforum for indicating that Mr. McPhee’s name is Joseph, not Jason. My bad.

Episode # 410

Dead Poet’s Society

Cut to Dawson’s room. Joey and Dawson are sitting on the bed, watching ‘Dead Poet’s Society’. There are two full duffel bags on the floor.

DAWSON: This is a good one. It’s one of my favorites.

JOEY: I never thought I’d hear you say that about a movie that wasn’t directed by Speilberg.

DAWSON: It may not be an epic, like ET, but it’s still pretty good. It’s mostly because of the message it sends.

JOEY: You mean Robin Williams ability to act in a drama? I have to admit, he did manage to do something people didn’t think he could.

Dawson stands up and shuts off the TV.

DAWSON: No, I mean the movie itself. The way Mr. Keating convinces his students to do more with their lives. To, pardon the direct quote, ‘Seize The Day’. I think there’s a lesson to be learned from it.

JOEY: Yeah, but things didn’t exactly work out in the end, did they? I mean, the one boy died, and Robin Williams got fired.

DAWSON: Yeah, but the other guy did end up with the girl he wanted. All because he decided to take a risk. I think what this movie tries to tell us is not to back off from something just because we’re afraid of what will happen as a result. We could learn a lot from this.

JOEY: Dawson, may I remind you what happens to us when we try to take risks. Think ‘Pacey’ and ‘summer’, not to mention a certain mysterious blonde from a year ago, who shall remain nameless.

PACEY: (from outside the window) Did somebody mention my name?

JOEY: Oh no, you didn’t dye your hair again, did you?

PACEY: Funny, Potter. So, we ready to roll?

JOEY: I still don’t understand how we can afford to miss an entire week of school?

PACEY: Okay, now I’m convinced you’re not a real teenager.

JOEY: Bite me, Pacey.

DAWSON: What’s the problem, Joey? You always said you wanted to get out of Capeside.

JOEY: Pardon me, Dawson. But New Rawley isn’t exactly New York. The only difference it has with here is a pair of prestigious schools, both of which I will most likely never attend.

DAWSON: Okay, I can understand how hard it would be to get in to one of them. But seriously, you’re jumping to conclusions pretty fast. Just because New Rawley is small, doesn’t mean it’s another Capeside.

‘DAWSON’S CREEK’ THEME BEGINS

JOEY: And what makes you say that?

DAWSON: I’ve always held a stern belief that it’s the people in it that made a town what it was.

Joey half-smiles, then turns to the wall.

JOEY: Allow me to introduce you. Dawson, meet reality. Reality…this is Dawson.

Dawson gets a sour look on his face.

PACEY: Hey, you two, hurry up or Mr. McPhee’s gonna leave without us.

They grab their duffel bags and head out the window.

JOEY: Well, this is one school that I can’t be too upset about not being able to go to.

PACEY: Don’t be too sure, Jo. You could probably get in if you tried.

DAWSON: Pacey, it’s an all-boy school, like the one in ‘Dead Poet’s Society’. There is no possible way Joey could get in, despite the gender-ambiguous name.

Pacey smirks.

PACEY: Don’t be so sure, D-Man.

DAWSON’S CREEK CREDITS BEGIN

Cut to highway outside of New Rawley. Mr. McPhee is driving Dawson’s Explorer towards the town.

Voice Over(Dawson): My life is weird sometimes.

Pause.

V.O. (Dawson): What? You were expecting somebody else?

Another pause.

V.O. (Dawson): You see, my life, it’s never what I expect. I never expected Joey, my best friend, to fall in love with me, and I never expected to feel the same way about her, either. I never expected my mother to have an affair, I never expected my parents to get a divorce, and most of all, I never expected them to get back together again. I never expected Joey to dump me, or to say she didn’t want to know me anymore. I never, ever expected Pacey and Joey to date, or to break up the way they did. Not that I’m complaining about them breaking up, of course.

We see that Pacey’s boat is on a trailer, being pulled along by the Explorer. On the boat’s deck, Dawson is siting by the back, watching the scenery go by. Joey is siting by the mast, while Pacey is near the wheel. Everyone else(Andie, Jen, and Jack) are in the car with Mr. McPhee.

V.O. (Dawson): One thing that I never expected is for Will Krudski to get accepted to Rawley Academy, the most prestigious school in the state. I mean, Will was never the slacker that Pacey was, but I never thought he’d get a scholarship to a place like this.

Camera cuts to the lake, where we see a full view of Rawley Academy.

PACEY: There it is. Wow, I have to give Will credit. He really hit the motherload with that scholarship.

JOEY: I’m betting that place is filled with either the very lucky or the very rich.

DAWSON: Or maybe a bit of both.

V.O. (Dawson): Something’s always puzzled me about Will. How he was such good friends with Pacey, when he seemed to act a little bit like me sometimes. On the other hand, he does have all those issues with his father, just like Pacey. Now that I think about it, he’s always seemed to have a belief that he would never get anywhere in his life, a lot like how Joey thinks. I guess he’s like all three of us put together. Sometimes I wonder what things would have been like if he had never moved to New Rawley all those years ago. With my luck, he would of probably have eventually been interested in Joey too.

Dawson looks over at Joey. The wind is causing her hair to blow in her face.

V.O. (Dawson): Joey? Now there’s a puzzle I still haven’t been able to solve. I have never met anyone else who made me so happy, yet caused so much pain as well. Whenever I want her, she doesn’t want me. When she wants me, I’m too scared of getting hurt again to do anything about it. Pacey’s right about one thing, it’s the same vicious cycle over and over again. Sometimes I wonder if it’s just some sort of game we play with each other, seeing which one of us will fall apart first. The car stops on top of a small hill. At the bottom, is the edge of the lake. Pacey points across the lake.

PACEY: Hey, look at that.

Dawson and Joey look at the lake and see a canoe rowing across it.

PACEY: I think that’s him.

DAWSON: You sure.

Dawson takes a pair of binoculars out of his bag and looks through them. It goes to a close-up and shows Will’s face, talking to the other people in the canoe.

DAWSON: Yep. That’s Will all right.

PACEY: Then lets go talk to him.

JOEY: Newsflash, Pacey. He’s in the middle of the lake.

PACEY: We’ve got a boat.

DAWSON: It’s a couple of miles to the nearest dock, Pace.

PACEY: Who said anything about a dock? This hill doesn’t look too steep.

Pacey puts his hand on the lever that releases the boat from the trailer. Both Dawson and Joey become extremely worried when they realize what he’s planning to do.

Pacey just smiles.

THE ALTERED VERSION OF THE SONG ‘SIX PACS’(a.k.a. the ;Young Americans’ theme) STARTS TO PLAY.

DAWSON: Pacey, if you’re doing what I think you’re doing.

JOEY: Don’t you dare pull that…

(Pacey pulls the lever, causing the sailboat to slide down the hill.)

Throw on your backpacks, We’ll be rolling down the road.

Big dreams and wild schemes, Wherever we go.

DAWSON and JOEY: AHHHHH!

(Pacey opens the sail, and the boat safely lands in the water)

PACEY: WHOOOO!!!

People all around us, Keep showering us with love.

(Across the lake, Will sees the boat come crashing down. It looks familiar to him)

WILL: PACEY?

PACEY: HEY, KRUDSKI!

You’d better keep it coming, Cause we just can’t get enough.

(The sailboat heads towards the canoe)

Where would we be without a little love Ya gotta get by without a little love Everybody needs a little bit of love Sometimes.

SONG ENDS

PACEY: Hey Krudski, like my entrance.

WILL: Pacey, you are certifiable.

Pacey grins and swings his arms into the air.

PACEY: All part of my charm.

From the floor of the boat, we hear two people groaning.

JOEY: I am going to kill you, you understand that, don’t you?

DAWSON: Not if I kill him first. Hi Will.

WILL: Hi Dawson.

The camera pans to the side, and we see the other people in the boat with Will. Scout, Hamilton, Jake, and their teacher, Finn. FINN: Mr. Krudski, I take it you know these people. WILL: They’re old friends. FINN: Well, could you tell them to come back later. They happen to be disrupting my class.

PACEY: This is a class? Man, I wish I were rich.

SCOUT: Trust me, it’s not all it’s cracked up to be.

PACEY: Forgive me if I don’t take your word for it.

WILL: You’d better leave and let us finish up, Pacey. I’ll meet you guys later, at Friendley’s.

PACEY: Got ya.

They row away.

PACEY: Hey, wait a minute. WHERE’S FRIENDLEY’S?

Pacey looks back towards the hill, and sees Mr. McPhee looking at them. He seems to be very upset.

PACEY: Umm…Dawson…how far away did you say that dock was?

Cut to a gas station. Joey drives up in Dawson’s Explorer, gets out and goes to talk to someone working there. It’s Bella.

JOEY: Hey, we’ve been driving awhile, so I was wondering if we could get some gas.

BELLA: Sure thing.

She goes to the gas pump. BELLA: You’re not from around here, are you? I’ve never seen you before.

JOEY: No, I’m from Capeside.

BELLA: Capeside, where’s that?

JOEY: Nowhere important. It’s really not much to talk about.

BELLA: So, did you come here alone.

JOEY: No, a came with a few of my friends. Unfortunately, I have to find some sort of hotel, while the guys get to stay at Rawley Academy.

BELLA: No kidding? I know some people that go there. Why the star treatment for your friends?

JOEY: Apparently, my friend Jack’s father is friends with the dean. I just came along to see an old friend of a friend, Will.

BELLA: Wait a minute? You don’t mean Will Krudski, do you?

JOEY: You know him?

BELLA: You could say that. I’m off shift in 5 minutes, I’ll show you where he works.

Cut to Friendley’s. Pacey and Dawson are siting at a booth when Will and Scout come and sit down.

PACEY: A restaurant? Man, why is everyone working at restaurants these days. Whatever happened to video shops?

SCOUT: Hey Will, you’re friend’s comic relief, isn’t he?

DAWSON: That’s an understatement.

PACEY: Eat your burger, Leery.

Jake and Hamilton walk in, followed by Jack, Jen, and Andie.

PACEY: Hey, there’s my girl.

Andie kisses Pacey on the cheek. Then she sees Will.

ANDIE: Will? Well, this is a surprise. It’s good to see you.

She runs up to Will and gives him a hug.

HAMILTON: I don’t believe this. Will, you never told me you knew Andie and Jack McPhee.

Andie turns around and sees Hamilton.

ANDIE: Munchie? Is that you?

Will and Scout try to hold back laughter, but end up cracking up laughing. Hamilton covers his face with his hands.

HAMILTON: Andie, please.

ANDIE: Opps, sorry. It’s just that, well, I haven’t really seen you since…

JACK: Since Tim’s funeral.

Andie and Jack start to look sad.

HAMILTON: I sorry about that. Is everything all right at home?

ANDIE: Yeah, we’re getting along great with dad now. Mom, well, I think she’s getting better. How about your parents.

HAMILTON: Same old, same old.

Joey walks in with Bella.

PACEY: Well, well. Looks like the gang’s all here. Hey, Potter. Over here!

They walk over and sit down. Scout looks at Bella and smiles.

SCOUT: Hi Bella.

BELLA: Hey Scout.

DAWSON: Would somebody mind making the introductions, I’m a bit confused.

WILL: Okay, well, me you pretty much know. This here is my roommate, Scout Calhoun.

SCOUT: Hey.

WILL: This is Bella Banks.

BELLA: Hi.

JOEY: We’ve sort of met already.

WILL: Then there’s the dean’s son, Hamilton Fleming.

HAMILTON: What’s up?

WILL: And this here is Jake Pratt.

JAKE(male voice): Pleased to meet you.

PACEY: Pacey J. Witter at your service.

Dawson shakes Scout’s hand.

DAWSON: Hi, I’m Dawson. Dawson Leery.

SCOUT: Dawson? Pacey? You people don’t exactly have average names, do you?

JAKE(male voice): Look who’s talking, ‘Scout’.

SCOUT: Point well taken

JOEY: Hi, I’m Joey. Another odd name, I know.

JAKE(male voice): Not as odd as you think.

DAWSON: So…Hamilton…how do you know Jack and Andie?

HAMILTON: My dad’s an old friend of their dad, they stayed here on summer when I was about seven.

DAWSON: That would explain the nickname.

PACEY: Will, before you say anything…the last time I mentioned Dawson’s old nickname to him, I got my nose broken with a basketball.

WILL: Thanks for the warning.

SCOUT: Well, I’d better get going. HAMILTON: Us too. I promised my dad that I’d show you around the school. You coming, Scout?

SCOUT: Right behind you…’Munchie’.

HAMILTON: Shut up.

SCOUT: Isn’t that the guy on the hostess chip bags?

HAMILTON: I said shut up.

They leave.

Cut to Rawley Academy. Ham

ilton and Jake are showing the Capeside gang around. HAMILTON: An the lake’s right over there.

Jake points toward the other school/ JAKE(male voice): The girl’s school is over there, and… JEN: You just like rubbing it in, don’t you? JACK: Oh oh. JAKE(male voice): Excuse me? JEN: Nothing like pushing the gender gap even further apart, huh. JAKE(male voice): Listen, I don’t know what you’re getting at. On second thought, I know exactly what your getting at. Just back off, okay. JEN: What’s the matter? Can’t take a little criticism of your fancy school? Typical male ego. JAKE(male voice): Okay, now you’re asking for it. Cut to Pacey and Will at the front porch of the building. Pacey is looking up at it. PACEY: I can’t believe you actually go to school here. Let me tell you, Krudski. You lucked out. WILL: I’m surprised my luck hasn’t run out yet. It’s been pretty shaky, I’ve come pretty close to even being thrown out. Fortunately for me, I keep being lucky. Jake comes running up to them. JAKE(male voice): Will, you’ve got to help me. WILL: What is it? JAKE(male voice): It that Jen girl, she won’t leave me alone. Apparently she has decided to blame me for Rawley’s ‘crimes’. That’s irony for you. PACEY: Irony? Wait a minute. Will, is this the one you told me about over the phone? The cross-dresser? WILL: (quietly) I didn’t say ‘cross-dresser’. JAKE(normal voice): (quietly)You told him? PACEY: Whoa, guess I was right. WILL: It sort of slipped out. JAKE(normal voice): Oh, this is just great. Who else knows? PACEY: Don’t worry, lady. You have no idea how amusing it is when Dawson doesn’t know about something. You couldn’t pay me to tell him. WILL: I’m going to go now. I’d like to be as far away as possible when Jake kills you. Will leaves. A few seconds later, Pacey runs away as well. Cut to the gas station. Joey is talking to Bella. JOEY: Are you sure that me staying here isn’t a problem? BELLA: Nah. I talked to my dad. He said it’s okay for you to stay at our place while you’re in New Rawley. JOEY: Good, because I’d rather not stay in some motel. So, is there anything to do around here. BELLA: Well, it’s sort of a tourist town, so there isn’t going to be much this time of year. Except the dance at the end of the week. Nothing fancy like the collation, but still… JOEY: You planning to go? BELLA: Not really. There’s nobody for me to go with. JOEY: How about that guy from Friendley’s, Scout? You two seemed pretty… BELLA: There’s a bit of a problem with that. JOEY: What? BELLA: There’s a possibility that…well…he might be my brother. Joey’s jaw falls open. JOEY: Wait a minute. What do you mean ‘might’? BELLA: Well, you see, we’re not 100% sure, but all evidence points to it. See, my mom and his dad, well, it’s complicated. JOEY: Couldn’t you ask your mom? BELLA: Not really. She lives pretty far away, and we don’t have what you would call a close relationship. She left us about ten years ago, and I’ve only seen her once since. JOEY: I’m sorry. I didn’t know. BELLA: So, what’s your story? JOEY: Not really much to talk about. My mom died a few years ago, and my dad has been in and out of prison for drug trafficking ever since. Not really something I like to brag about. Then there’s Dawson. BELLA: Is he your boyfriend? JOEY: Used to be. I guess it all depends on what month it is. BELLA: Excuse me? JOEY: We’re sort of on some sort of cycle, I guess. First we’re best friends, then we’re a couple, then we break up and don’t speak to each other. Then we’re friends again, then we’re a couple again. Then we don’t speak to each other again, then we’re friends again, and so on… BELLA: And I thought my life was complicated. SEAN: (off-camera) Bella? Bella rolls her eyes. BELLA: Case in point. Bella and Joey turn around and see Sean arrive. BELLA: Can I help you with something, Sean? SEAN: You know why I’m here. I have to talk with you. BELLA: Look Sean. We’ve been over this before. It’s over. SEAN: Just let me try and explain. BELLA: Sean, the answer is still no. Not unless you apologize. SEAN: Not gonna happen. BELLA: Then leave SEAN: Just let me explain. Joey steps in. JOEY: She asked you to leave, so go. SEAN: I don’t know who you are, so just butt out. Sean pushes Joey to the side. DAWSON: (off-camera) Is there a problem here? Sean turns to see Dawson standing behind him. SEAN: Oh, great. Let me guess, now Scout’s sending more Rawley guys to spy on you, right? DAWSON: Actually, I’m a Capeside guy. And that’s my friend you’re pushing around. BELLA: Just leave, Sean. Before someone else gets hurt. SEAN: You know what, fine, I’m leaving. Sean leaves. DAWSON: Who was that? BELLA: My ex. And believe it or not, he used to be Will’s best friend. JOEY: What happened? BELLA: We had some problems. DAWSON: This sounds like something I shouldn’t hear. I’ll see you later, Jo. JOEY: See ya, Dawson. Dawson leaves. Cut to Will and Scout’s room. Dawson is there with Scout. SCOUT: Where did everyone else run off to. DAWSON: Pacey said he was going to try and help the McPhee’s find a hotel. Will said he was going to go with them. Question is, what happened to Jake and Hamilton?

SCOUT: They spend a lot of time away from the school at night. It’s pretty easy, considering Jake has a motorcycle. DAWSON: Really? He doesn’t seem to be the motorcycle riding type. SCOUT: There’s a lot of things about Jake that would surprise you. DAWSON: Yeah, well, odds are him and Hamilton are picking up girls as we speak. Speaking a which, I noticed the way you were looking at Bella today. Is there something going on there? SCOUT: I wish. But there’s one small problem. DAWSON: What’s that? SCOUT: Well… Cut to Bella’s room. She is there talking to Joey. JOEY: Okay, explain to me why you’re interested in your brother. Correction, possible brother. That’s just… BELLA: I didn’t know about it at first… Cut to Will and Scout’s room. DAWSON: How do you not know about something like that. SCOUT: Dad never mentioned anything about it to me. DAWSON: So what did you do? Cut to Bella’s room. BELLA: Well, first we tried to just be friends. That didn’t work out real well, let me tell you. Cut to Will and Scout’s room. DAWSON: I can relate. Scout looks at him, confused. SCOUT: So things were going pretty well, for awhile anyway. DAWSON: What happened? Cut to Bella’s room. BELLA: I got a boyfriend. JOEY: And let me guess. Scout gets attacked by the green eyed monster. BELLA: That’s not all he got attacked by. Cut to Will and Scout’s room. SCOUT: So Sean hates me, to put it bluntly. And what’s worse, he’s Will’s best friend. DAWSON: I don’t like the way this is going. Cut to Bella’s room. BELLA: They fought constantly. Everything from arguments to full blown fist fights. I thought they reached some sort of agreement after I went to see my mom, but I couldn’t have been more wrong. JOEY: What happened? Cut to Will and Scout’s room. SCOUT: When me and Will came back for fall semester, the guy did everything to keep me as far away from Bella as possible. He even made up lies that Bella didn’t want me around anymore. Cut to Bella’s room. BELLA: But then Will found out about it and told me. JOEY: Something tells me you weren’t happy about it. BELLA: No, I wasn’t. Sean basically told me that he didn’t want me associating with Scout. I told him that I didn’t want him making my decisions for me, and that he should apologize to Scout. He said ‘I’m not apologizing to that cretin, so I dumped him. Cut to Will and Scout’s room. SCOUT: I cannot tell you how relieved I was to hear about that. The only problem is, he blamed me for it. DAWSON: Oh oh. What happened? SCOUT: Fist fight. I wasn’t expecting it, so he got the upper hand. Fortunately, I got some good hits in. Cut to Bella’s room. BELLA: I swear, I thought Sean had killed him or something. I mean, he didn’t even have the time to fight back. I’m just glad Jake made it there in time. Jake tried to break up the fight, but then Sean made the huge mistake of accidentally hitting him. Gave him a black eye. Cut to Will and Scout’s room. DAWSON: Why is that such a big mistake? SCOUT: Well…let’s just say Hamilton is a little over-protective of that particular friend. Sean never say him coming. Bella’s room. BELLA: This time around, Sean was the one who didn’t have the time to fight back. I’ve never seen Hamilton that mad before. JOEY: Over-protective seems a bit of an understatement. BELLA: Unfortunately, Will wasn’t too happy with what Sean did. You should have heard him yell. Cut to Will and Scout’s room. SCOUT: (sadly) I sort of feel guilty about it. I mean, sure, Sean was a jerk. But he was Will’s best friend, too. They haven’t even spoken to each other since. DAWSON: I know how that goes. Believe it or not, a few months ago me and Pacey were hardly speaking to each other. SCOUT: Why is that? DAWSON: Long story. Cut to somewhere in town. Pacey, Will, and Andie are walking down a street. ANDIE: It’s getting pretty late, you’d better get back to the school. WILL: Head on back, Pacey. I want to talk to Andie for a minute. Pacey seems a bit unsure for a moment. PACEY: Sure, Krudski. See ya later. Pacey leaves. ANDIE: What did you want to talk about? WILL: Well, Pacey told me you were shot a couple of months ago. I just wanted to see if you were alright. ANDIE: Yeah, I’m fine now. How about you, Will. Any improvement with your dad? WILL: Not much. It’s just the same as usual. ANDIE: Pacey sort of had to move in with me and Jack because of his dad. WILL: It’s not that different from what I did by going to Rawley. I mean, I wanted to see what it was like here, but I just needed to get as far away from my father as possible. I guess that’s why I… ANDIE: What? WILL: I…cheated on the entrance exam. ANDIE: You what? WILL: I know. You probably think I’m the lowest form of creature imaginable, huh? ANDIE: Not really. You see, I sort of did the same thing. Will looks surprised. WILL: You did? When? ANDIE: Last year, at the PSAT’s. I sort of got a peek at the answers. WILL: It’s not as bad as what I did. ANDIE: That’s just one person’s opinion. They pause for a moment. WILL: We’re just a pair of cheaters, aren’t we? Andie chuckles. ANDIE: Yeah. Cut to Pacey walking down the street. Dawson and Scout show up in the Explorer. DAWSON: Hey, Pacey. Have you seen Joey around? PACEY: Can’t say I have. She said something about staying at Bella’s. SCOUT: I know where that is. DAWSON: Need a ride back? PACEY: Sure. Pacey hops in the car and they drive towards Bella’s house. Cut to the front of the gas station. Joey is standing outside, looking up at the stars. Just then, Dawson shows up. DAWSON: Hey, Jo. JOEY: Hey. DAWSON: How would you like to try and do something incredibly noble? Joey turns to face him. JOEY: What exactly do you have in mind? DAWSON: I was talking to Scout, you know, Will’s friend. And I heard something interesting about him and Bella… JOEY: You mean the whole ‘Star Wars’ scenario? Yeah, Bella told me. What about it? DAWSON: Well, I don’t think it’s true. JOEY: What makes you so sure? DAWSON: I’ve got a hunch. Joey half-smiles. JOEY: I know all about you and your ‘hunches’. So you think that their not related? DAWSON: That’s right, the only problem is how to prove it. JOEY: And proving it would require you and me to pry into these people’s lives for the entire week that we’re here? DAWSON: All for the greater good, of course. JOEY: Typical Dawson. You’ve got this whole plan scripted out, don’t you? DAWSON: Please, Joey. If not for me, then for them. JOEY: Why do you want to get involved in this? Wouldn’t it be easier to just leave well enough alone? DAWSON: Okay, you want a reason, here it is. You and me, we’ve seen stories about relationships that fail because they can’t seem to overcome the obstacles. But with Scout and Bella, they never even had the chance. Maybe we can try and give them that chance. JOEY: And maybe try and convince ourselves that there’s still hope for us? Dawson is shocked at this. JOEY: In our lives, that is. Cause let’s face it, Dawson. Neither of us have ever been very successful at relationships. DAWSON: You’re right. It’s possible we’re convinced that we can’t make them work. So let’s help those two, and see if we can’t prove ourselves wrong. Cut to the street. Pacey and Scout are waiting in the Explorer. PACEY: So, Scout…right? Any idea why their taking so long. Scout grins. SCOUT: Maybe they’re doing something other than talking? PACEY: Not likely. There’s something you’ve got to learn about Dawson and Joey. They never do things the easy way. Odds are their not even talking about themselves. Suddenly, Will and Andie are walking down the street. Pacey and Will don’t notice them. WILL: Hey Andie. Thanks for the help. ANDIE: No problem. What are friends for. WILL: It’s just that, well, a lot of things happened to me in the last couple of months. I guess everything started when I went back to Capeside, you know, when I met you? ANDIE: Really? WILL: I mean, my life really changed when I started going to Rawley, but I’m convinced I learned a few things from those 3 weeks. ANDIE: Glad I could help. Will smiles at her, then quickly kisses her. At that moment, Dawson and Joey arrive on the street and see them. Pacey turns and sees them too. Quickly, Will pulls away. He has a ‘what am I doing?’ look on his face. Andie looks scared. DAWSON: (whispers) Oh no. Dawson turns his head in the direction of the Explorer. He sees Pacey clench his fist in rage. Suddenly, Pacey gets out of the car and storms towards Will. After a few seconds, Scout goes after him. SCOUT: Pacey, don’t do it. Will turns around just in time to see Pacey walking towards him. WILL: Pacey, this isn’t what it looks like… POW!!! Pacey punches Will, causing him to fall to the floor. PACEY: You know what, Krudski? You can save it. Andie puts her hand on Pacey’s shoulder, trying to calm him down. Pacey whips her hand away. PACEY: DON’T TOUCH ME! I can’t believe I actually trusted you. You would have thought I’d learned my lesson the first time, but no. Looks like I wasn’t good enough for you this time either. Will gets up. WILL: If you want to blame someone, Pacey, blame me. PACEY: That’s the plan. Pacey goes to hit him again, but Scout grabs him from behind. SCOUT: Good battle plan, Will. Make him madder. That’ll work. Pacey breaks Scout’s grip. Dawson runs up and gets between him and Will. DAWSON: Pacey, calm down. PACEY: Stay out of this, Dawson. This is between me and Will. Do you want to know what he just did? DAWSON: I saw the whole thing. You’re over-reacting. PACEY: I can’t believe I’m hearing this from you of all people. What are you, some sort of hypocrite? Pacey starts to walk away. PACEY: Just leave me alone, okay. Andie tries to stop him, but Pacey quickly moves away from her. PACEY: ALL OF YOU! Pacey runs away. Andie starts to cry, and then goes in the opposite direction. Cut to inside Bella’s house. Bella is trying to help Will stop his lip from bleeding from where Pacey punched him. Dawson, Joey, and Scout are there as well. Just then, Hamilton and Jake arrive. HAMILTON: We came as soon as we got your call. What happened? Pacey just barged into the dorms, took his bags, and left. They notice Will’s face. JAKE(male voice): What happened to you? WILL: I don’t want to talk about it. Cut to later on, in the street where the fight was. Scout is standing there when Dawson, Bella, and Joey come up to him. SCOUT: It’s my fault. I should of stopped him. BELLA: No it wasn’t. JOEY: There’s nothing you could of done. DAWSON: Yeah. I’ve known Pacey since I was a kid, and I couldn’t stop him. SCOUT: Poor guy. I mean, Will’s my friend, but I sort of feel sorry for whatever’s going through Pacey’s head right now. I mean, who knows how he’s feeling. Camera pans up to show the three of them standing there. V.O.(Dawson): He was right. No one could know how Pacey Witter was feeling, unless of course you had been through it yourself. Cut to Pacey sitting on his boat at the edge of the lake. V.O.(Dawson): I know what it’s like to know one of your best friends hurt you so badly, despite that being the last thing they wanted to do. I know how it feels to think that the person you care about more than anything in the world just might care about someone else. Cut to Dawson looking at Scout and Bella, who are talking. He watches Bella put her hand on Scout’s shoulder. V.O.(Dawson): Most of all, I know what it feels like to get that person back after so long, only to lose them again. Dawson looks towards Joey, siting beside him. JOEY: Dawson, I’ve decided. Let’s try to help them, okay. Because after tonight, they need any good news they can get. DAWSON: Okay. ‘READY FOR A FALL’ BEGINSYou sit there in my shadows And you call it your relief Don't be the one with bad eyes for The things that I could see V.O.(Dawson): I know that it seems hopeless, I know that I should just give up, I guess that’s why I won’t. The darkness has no armor Need protection from the air High hopes through time passing When I see I want you there I can't believe You're the one for me If it was this easy to find you I should be ready for a fall I should be ready for a fall V.O.(Dawson): The one thing that has always stayed the same with me is that I don’t give up anything for good. I keep trying, despite what my weird life throws at me. Because, there’s always hope, just as long as you don’t give up. Now my wonders rally Around the person I once was Like a bird that I've been helping Hope you're healed and strong You never know when you might have to fly I can't believe You're the one for me If it was this easy to find you I should be ready for a fall I should be ready for a fall V.O.(Dawson): So, maybe I can spread some of that around. Because, it’s not over until you’ve run out of options. It’s not over yet.Where will you go after me Where will you go after I set you free And I don't know you from a page in my book Though I should Though I should I can't believe You're the one for me If it was this easy to find you I should be ready for a fall I should be ready for a fall (Cut to Dawson in Will and Scout’s room, looking out the window towards Pacey’s boat.)Where will you go after me Where will you go after I set you free And I don't know you from a page in my book Though I should DAWSON: It’s not over yet. (Camera pans away from the window as the song continues)I can't believe You're the one for me If it was this easy to find you I should be ready for a fall I should be ready for a fall SONG ENDS Fade to black.
