THE ROAD BACK
Part IV
Written By: LeeryAndPotter at LeeryAndPotter@hotmail.com
Disclaimer: Dawson, Joey, Pacey, Jen, Andie, and Jack property of Kevin Williamson and the WB network. I don’t own them, so please don’t sue. I don’t own the song "Save Tonight", that’s the property of Eagle Eye Cherry
Category: D/J, it’s always DJ.
Rating: PG-13, basically, if you can watch the show, you can read this.
Spoilers: Dawson tries to cheer Joey up, but is feeling guilty about what happened. Pacey goes on a trip with his father and Doug, and gets help from the last person he expected.
Editors Note: You might notice that Jen, Andie, and Jack don’t have much airtime in this part. I’m sorry about that, but they’ll be more involved in the rest of the story later on. I wanted to show the story rotating between D/J and Pacey, so it added to the effect. I also went easier on Pacey in this part. Now that he and Joey have broken up(in this story, at least) I don’t have to write him as being a total jerk(I know, I’m biased, but hey, I’m the one writing this.)
Episode # 404
As Good As It Gets
Cut to Dawson’s room. Dawson is sitting on his bed facing the television. Camera pans over to show that ‘Rocky’ is playing. After a few moments, Mitch comes into the room and looks at the TV.
MITCH: Planing on switching from Speilberg to Stalone?
DAWSON: Nope. After having to fight Drew the sociopath, and then the whole Pacey fiasco last week, it turns out I might be a little tougher than I thought. So maybe I can learn a little more about fighting from movies.
MITCH: Of course you’re tough, toughness is hereditary.
Dawson looks at Mitch with a ‘you’ve got to be kidding me’ face.
MITCH: Well, lets just see what you’ve got here.
Picks up the tapes.
MITCH: Kung-Fu?
DAWSON: David Carridine was good in those movies. As a matter of fact, he starred in a television series by the same name afterwards. One of the few times that a TV adaptation was faithful to the original movies.
Mitch nods his head, then picks up another tape.
MITCH: Okay, Kung-Fu I can understand. But the Matrix?
DAWSON: (embarrassed) No comment.
Mitch puts the tapes back and walks over to Dawson.
MITCH: So, where’s your usual movie viewing companion.
DAWSON: (upset) Look, can we not talk about Joey right now.
Dawson grabs the remote and shuts off the TV. He then gets up and start to put the tapes away. Mitch walks up to him.
MITCH: Look, son. What happened last week, it wasn’t your fault.
DAWSON: Yes it was.
MITCH: Dawson, one of these days you’re going to have to tell me why you keep blaming yourself for everything.
DAWSON: Look dad, it was my fault, okay. I’m the one who asked her to come help Jen, I could’ve said something to Gretchen to stop her from dumping me. As a matter of fact, if it wasn’t for me, Pacey and Gretchen would’ve never met in the first place.
MITCH: So, you’re just supposed to stop living your life just to make sure no one around you gets hurt? It wasn’t your fault, Dawson. Just like Pacey and Joey getting together wasn’t your fault. What happened with Joey’s father wasn’t your fault. These things just happen.
DAWSON: Then how come they only seem to happen when I do something, (quieter) or don’t do something.
Mitch sighs, then walks back to the bed. A few moments later, he speaks up.
MITCH: By the way Dawson, guess who’s coming back tomorrow.
DAWSON: You’re kidding me.
MITCH: Nope, Principal Green will once again be among us. And we owe it all to you.
DAWSON: Come on, dad. I just posted a petition on the Internet and sent it to the school board.
MITCH: And the end result was the school board going on it’s hands and knees, begging him to come back. Boy, I wish you could’ve seen the look on Caulfield’s face when he heard about this. I thought his head was going to explode.
DAWSON: I bet all the people who were against him are now going to be eating their words. Maybe this might cheer Joey up. After all, she was the one who spearheaded the whole Principal Green rally a few months back.
Mitch pauses for a few moments, thinking. Then he speaks up.
MITCH: Dawson, have you been thinking about what I said to the seniors when school started.
DAWSON: You mean about how you embarrassed me in front of half the school.
MITCH: No, about making a difference this year.
THEME SONG BEGINS
DAWSON: Not really, dad. I guess things have been pretty hectic the past month.
MITCH: Dawson, I though you would’ve learned this by now, so I’ll just clear it up for you a little. If you put something off for too long, you might lose your opportunity.
Mitch leaves, leaving Dawson to think about what he said.
OPENING CREDITS START
Cut to Capeside High cafeteria. Jen, Jack, and Andie are siting at a table together. Joey arrives, dressed in jeans and a sweater. The others look at her, confused.
JOEY: What?
JACK: Umm…nothing Joey. It’s just that, well, you look a little…different today.
Joey looks at Jack, a little confused at the remark.
ANDIE: So, Joey, what’s up.
JOEY: The usual, I’m either working or stuck at home taking care of ‘you-know-who’. (sighs) As if anything different would happen in Capeside. With the exception of the knife-wielding psycho last week. I’m surprised the construction union hasn’t come after me for doing their work for them yet.
Just then, Pacey comes in to the cafeteria. He sees them at the table and goes to sit down.
PACEY: Hey, guys.
He looks at Joey, noticing her strange behavior. Joey stands up.
JOEY: Excuse me.
Joey takes her lunch tray and leaves.
ANDIE: Umm…sorry, Jen. But I’ve got some homework to finish up. I’ll see you later.
JACK: Yeah, and I need to talk to coach Leery about something. I’ll come by your house later, Jen.
Andie and Jack leave. Pacey sighs and looks at his lunch tray.
PACEY: You’d think I had the plague.
JEN: Don’t worry, I’m immune to the plague.
PACEY: Ha, ha. Very funny, Lindley. Thanks for not running away.
JEN: Well, what did you expect them to do, Pacey. Stay and chat.
PACEY: I expected Joey to leave, but not…
He trails off. A few moments later he speaks up.
PACEY: Is it just me, or are we stuck in the twilight zone.
JEN: I would guess that you are referring to Joey new wardrobe, or should I say old wardrobe.
PACEY: Weird. Well, I’d better get going.
JEN: You worried about missing class. That’s not like you.
PACEY: No. I just don’t want to be around when Dawson shows up.
Pacey leaves.
Cut to the other side of the cafeteria. Dawson enters and sees Joey siting by herself. He walks up to her table and sits down.
DAWSON: Hey, Jo. How are you?
JOEY: Miserable. I only have one more year left of this school, and if I don’t get a scholarship I’ll be stuck in this nowhere town for the rest of my life. And it isn’t much of one.
MITCH: (over megaphone) Students, may I have your attention.
Dawson and Joey turn around.
MITCH: Let’s all welcome back our favorite, and most controversial, principal. Harold Green.
The cafeteria erupts in applause and cheers. Dawson turns back around to face Joey
JOEY: Well, looks like we won eventually. At least something went right.
DAWSON: You want to go over and talk to him. He would be glad to see you.
JOEY: Maybe some other time, Dawson. I really don’t feel like it today.
She gets up and leaves the cafeteria. Dawson watches her leave with a concerned look on his face.
Cut to Mitch and Principal Green talking in the hallway.
MITCH: You should really come by our restaurant, Harry. I guarantee, you wont be disappointed. Bodie makes the best snow crab you’ll ever eat.
PRINCIPAL GREEN: Must you call me ‘Harry’, Mitch.
MITCH: Hey, I’m the vice principal now, I can use levity.
PRINCIPAL GREEN: You’re really moving up in the world, aren’t you.
MITCH: I guess you’re right. How are the natives treating you.
PRINCIPAL GREEN: Fine, mostly. It the exception of a few upper-class people who want their children to have ‘special privileges’. Then there’s the sheriff, he doesn’t seem to like me very much.
MITCH: You went easy on Pacey, of course he doesn’t like you.
PRINCIPAL GREEN: What kind of person treats their own children like that. This is the kind of person we have to protect us? Somehow, I don’t feel so safe.
MITCH: Tell me about it. I had a crazy person with a knife break into my house last week. Did the police do anything to stop him, no. Dawson ended up being the one to catch him. John’s not a bad person, he just…doesn’t have the right mindset for that job. Let me guess, you told him about your…experiment…that you’re planning.
PRINCIPAL GREEN: Yes, and he doesn’t like it. But he eventually agreed to it, as long as I take responsibility if anything happens. Can I count on you to back me up on this.
MITCH: I’ll do whatever I can.
DAWSON: (behind them) Am I interrupting something.
They turn around to see Dawson standing behind them.
PRINCIPAL GREEN: Not at all, Dawson. How are you?
DAWSON: Fine. I just came here to say welcome back. Trust me, you were missed.
PRINCIPAL GREEN: Where’s Joey? I haven’t seen her yet.
DAWSON: She…she’s had a pretty rough week. I don’t think she’s really up to talking to too many people.
PRINCIPAL GREEN: Why? What happened?
DAWSON: I’d rather not say.
PRINCIPAL GREEN: Well, when she’s feeling better, tell her to come and say hi.
DAWSON: I’ll do that.
Dawson leaves. Mitch and Principal Green continue to walk down the hall.
Cut to a highway. Sheriff Witter and Doug are in a police can, driving down the highway. The camera pans over to the back and we see that Pacey is there as well.
PACEY: Remind me again, why am I here?
DOUG: Because you’d be a lot more at home in a prison cell, Pacey.
JOHN: Doug, can you two stop arguing for this one trip, please. Your here, Pacey, because I think you might find it educational.
PACEY: Why is that.
JOHN: This way, you’ll know where you’ll end up if you don’t straighten up.
Pacey gives them the evil eye. Then he lays back against his seat and closes his eyes.
Cut to the inside of a federal prison. Pacey, Doug, and Sheriff Witter are walking beside a guard.
PACEY: There’s something familiar about this place.
DOUG: Don’t worry, little brother. In a few years, this will probably be your second home. In one way or another.
JOHN: I told you two to put a lid on it.
DOUG: Give me a break, dad. You don’t want to be doing this any more than I do. We wouldn’t even be here if city hall hadn’t been letting Green get anything he wants.
PACEY: Wait a minute. What does principal Green have to do with this? Why are we here anyway?
GUARD: Okay, Sheriff, we’re here.
The guard starts to unlock one of the cells.
GUARD: This one’s a model prisoner, I don’t think you have to worry about him trying to escape.
JOHN: Good behavior doesn’t mean that he’s not scum.
The guard looks at him doubtfully.
GUARD: You have one hour.
John, Doug, and Pacey enter the cell. We see the prisoner facing the wall.
PRISONER: Visitors? That’s sure a change. Just make yourselves comfortable.
JOHN: Can the levity.
PRISONER: Sheriff Witter, how did I know? I’m guessing this isn’t a social call.
JOHN: Don’t play dumb, the warden already told you the news.
John walks closer to him.
JOHN: This wasn’t my idea. I despise you crooks.
PRISONER: (laughing) Give me a break, John. You despised me long before I was ever a crook.
The prisoner turns around, and we see that it is Mike Potter, Joey’s father.
MIKE: Didn’t you?
Upon seeing who it is, Pacey’s jaw hits the floor.
PACEY: (mutters sarcastically) This is getting better by the minute.
Cut to Capeside skyline.
Cut to the outside of Joey’s house. Joey is siting on the edge of the dock. Dawson is on the back porch talking to Bessie, who shows him where Joey is. Dawson then begins walking up to her. He then sits on the edge of the dock, beside her. After a few moments he speaks up.
DAWSON: I saw principal Green today. He asked me to tell you to come talk to him.
JOEY: I really don’t feel like it right now, Dawson.
DAWSON: I know, that’s what I told him.
They both become quiet and look down at the water. After a while, Dawson speaks up.
DAWSON: Look, if it’s any consolation, I know how you feel. I’ve gone through the exact same thing. Three times, as a matter of fact.
JOEY: Yeah, and two of those times, it was because of me. Which is why you should just go away and let me get what I deserve.
DAWSON: I could do that. But I would rather not. Because no one deserves to feel that way.
Joey stands up.
JOEY: Listen. Unless you have the power to turn back time, I don’t think there’s anything you can do. With me and with Jen, what happened…they were stupid reasons…just stupid reasons. This time…it…it’s just…just forget about it.
She walks towards the house. Dawson speaks up once she is too far away to hear him.
DAWSON: (quietly) What makes you think the third time I felt that way was because of Jen?
Cut to the prison cell. John is talking to Mike, while Doug is standing beside him with his arms crossed. Pacey is leaning against the wall, watching the entire conversation.
JOHN: Listen to me, you piece of garbage. I may have to listen to Harold Green right now, but he’s not going to be on the mayor’s good side forever. You are going to stay here and rot, and the only way that you’re going to get out of here is over my dead body.
MIKE: Then I’d watch the donuts if I were you John. Considering your current gut size, it might be sooner rather than later.
John looks furious. He storms out of the cell, with Doug following close behind.
JOHN: Come with me, boys. I’m going to ask the warden to stop this insanity.
Before Pacey can leave, Doug slams the cell door in front of him.
PACEY: HEY!
DOUG: Sorry, little brother. (smiling)We’ll get you on the way back.
Pacey begins to hit the bars, trying to get the guard’s attention.
PACEY: This isn’t funny. Someone get me out of here.
MIKE: It won’t do any good, you know. The guards ignore the prisoners as much as possible. You’ll just have to wait until they come back.
Pacey turns around to face him.
PACEY: Great! This is just great. My family hates me, my friend…make that former friends…hate me too. Now I’m stuck in a prison cell for the next hour with you of all people.
MIKE: Wait a minute. Did you say ‘former friends’? Who are you referring to?
PACEY: Dawson, Joey, Andie, Jack, take your pick.
MIKE: What happened?
PACEY: Long story.
Mike gives him a ‘you’ve got to be kidding’ look. Then he indicates his surroundings.
MIKE: It’s not as if I’ve got anywhere to go.
Pacey laughs. He then starts to explain what happened.
PACEY: Okay, this whole thing started when my girlfriend, Andie, had to spend the summer in a hospital. Then, about a week later, you get carted off to prison. Well, guess who Joey blamed for that…
Cut to Leery’s fresh fish. It is closing time, and Dawson is saying goodnight to his parents. He sees Joey getting ready to leave, so he goes and gets his car.
Cut to Joey walking down the street. Dawson’s explorer shows up, slowly driving beside her. Dawson rolls down the window to talk to her.
DAWSON: Need a lift.
JOEY: Thanks, but no thanks, Dawson.
DAWSON: Come on, it’s cold out. We could go to my place and watch movies.
JOEY: I’d sort of like that.
She gets in the car and they drive off.
Cut to Dawson’s bedroom. Dawson and Joey climb the ladder and go into his room.
JOEY: So, what video do we have tonight?
Dawson picks a tape off a table.
DAWSON: ‘As good As It Gets’. I’ve been watching nothing but fighting movies lately, it would be relaxing to see a drama for once.
JOEY: I remember a time when you would watch nothing but classics or Speilburg.
DAWSON: I’m expanding my horizons.
JOEY: I noticed. Bruce Willis over there gave it away.
She points to the ‘Sixth Sense’ poster.
DAWSON: Well, lets hope that Jack here is just as entertaining.
Dawson pops the tape into the VCR, and they sit on the bed.
Cut to the prison cell. Pacey is still talking to Mike.
PACEY: …so then, I try to go after her, but Dawson stops me. He grabs me by the collar, punches me, then goes after her himself. Ever since then, both of them have been avoiding me like the plague. Not only that, but the McPhee’s have decided to join in as well. The only one on my side is Jen.
Pacey pauses.
PACEY: Wait a minute? Shouldn’t you be tearing my head off right about now.
MIKE: Do you actually believe that, after everything I’ve done in the last five years, that I could possibly have any right to be mad at you for your mistakes?
PACEY: You’ve got a point.
MIKE: I know you won’t believe me, Pacey, but I can relate to your situation.
PACEY: I mean, everything I try to do just backfires in my face. I know what I’m doing is wrong, but I…
MIKE: …you do it anyway.
PACEY: Yeah.
MIKE: Welcome to my world, Pacey.
PACEY: Huh.
MIKE: Do you think I wanted to get sent back in here? When I started dealing drugs again, I knew it was wrong, but I did it nonetheless. I made excuses for it, convinced myself that I was doing it for my kids, but that’s all it was, excuses. Then Dawson confronted me, basically told me off, told me I was living in a fantasy world. He was right. But by then, it was already too late.
PACEY: Heh. He told you that you were living in a fantasy world. To think, it’s usually me telling him that. Truth be told, he has a way better grip on reality than I do.
MIKE: So tell me, Pacey. Who’s Principal Green? Why is he trying to help me?
PACEY: I…I guess he believes in second chances.
MIKE: I’ve already had my second chance, and I blew it.
PACEY: Maybe you can get a third chance.
MIKE: Maybe you can, too.
Just then, John appears at the door.
JOHN: Oh, for crying out loud Doug. I told you to quit it.
DOUG: Come on, pop, it’s not like it hurt him.
JOHN: Come on Pacey. I’ve done all I can here.
John grabs Pacey by the arm, and then leads him out the door. Before he leaves, Pacey turns around.
PACEY: Just a minute, dad. Mr. Potter?
MIKE: Yeah?
PACEY: Thank you.
They leave. When they’re gone, Mike smiles.
Cut to Dawson’s bedroom. The end credits for ‘As Good As It Gets’ are rolling across the TV screen. Dawson then grabs the remote and turns it off. He then turns to face Joey.
DAWSON: So, what did you think.
JOEY: Good, considering the main character was a first-class jerk.
DAWSON: Sure, he had his faults, but that doesn’t mean that he was a bad person.
JOEY: Of course he was a bad person. Were you even paying attention? He stole that guy’s dog, he was completely insensitive to everyone, and for some reason, the girl still took him back at the end. Nothing would ever happen like that in real life.
DAWSON: Your right, he did act mean. But he had the willingness to change, to be a better person, isn’t that enough.
JOEY: It doesn’t matter that he wanted to change, because people wouldn’t let him. If this were real, he would’ve ended up alone. That’s just how it works
DAWSON: Okay, that’s it. That’s enough, Joey.
Dawson stands up.
JOEY: Enough of what?
DAWSON: Enough of you pretending that you’re fifteen again.
JOEY: I am not pretending that I’m…
DAWSON: Don’t give me that, Joey. Jen told me how you acted at lunch, she said you were like when she first met you. Look how you’re dressed. You haven’t dressed like that for almost two years. It’s like you’re trying to turn back time.
Joey stands up and starts yelling at Dawson.
JOEY: (yelling)And why shouldn’t I, huh. Why shouldn’t I try to be like I used to, I didn’t have to worry about break-ups, or relationships, or anything like that.
DAWSON: (yelling)If memory serves me correctly, Joey. Back then, worrying about those things were what you wanted more than anything in the world. Remember when we were in detention.
JOEY: (yelling)Yeah, there I was, ready to pour my heart out to Mr. Clueless. I should have known better.
DAWSON: (yelling)Joey, I knew you were talking about me.
They become very silent, both shocked by what was just said. They stare at each other for a few moments, then Joey speaks up.
JOEY: (quietly) Y-you knew? How? What gave it away?
DAWSON: When you said ‘I already have’. There were only two guys in Capeside that you knew at all, and somehow, I didn’t think it was Pacey.
JOEY: T-then why didn’t you say anything?
DAWSON: You really want to know?
Joey nods her head.
DAWSON: Okay, there were three reasons. The first one was, well, Jen was in the room at the time, so I didn’t really want to say anything in front of her.
JOEY: Jen already knew. Abby told her when you and Pacey were having your basketball rematch.
DAWSON: (surprised) You told Abby?
JOEY: No, she just knew. Must have been the gift of being the gossip queen.
DAWSON: I guess. Well, reason number two was because I hadn’t even figured out how I felt about you yet. If I had confronted you about what was happening then and there, you might have wanted an answer right away, and I wasn’t really ready to give one.
Joey nods.
JOEY: And the third?
DAWSON: I wanted to protect you. The thing with my parents had just happened, it sort of introduced me to the dark side of relationships. I wanted to protect you from having to face that, because you had already been through so much. I guess I didn’t want you to get hurt.
Joey looks at him, with understanding in her eyes.
DAWSON: I guess that’s also the reason that I issued that ultimatum with you and Pacey when I found out. I knew that something like this would happen. I tried to stop it before it started. A lot of good that did.
JOEY: Dawson…?
DAWSON: Maybe I did something wrong. Maybe if I had just won that boat race fairly, instead of cheating. Maybe if hadn’t of told you to go to him after my parent’s wedding. Maybe…
JOEY: Dawson…stop it.
Joey looks him in the eyes.
DAWSON: It’s all my fault, Jo.
JOEY: No, it wasn’t. It’s my fault. You were right, and I should have listened to you. I guess I convinced myself that you weren’t in your right mind, that it was just jealousy.
DAWSON: You know, I can’t for sure say that there wasn’t any jealousy involved.
They both laugh.
JOEY: Anyway, thanks for trying to help. I guess I’ll just have to chalk this one up to life experience. It’s a pity, though. Pacey was supposed to bring me to an art show in Boston tomorrow. Now I don’t have a ride. Oh well, maybe the next one.
She looks down at what she’s wearing.
DAWSON: Jo, I’ve always wanted to ask you something. Why did you have the dramatic change in wardrobe, anyway?
JOEY: I don’t know. I guess I wanted to look, I don’t know, girlish if I had a boyfriend.
DAWSON: Well, since you’re now single, why don’t you keep this look. Trust me, it suits you a lot better. It’s more…well…you.
Joey half-smiles at Dawson.
Cut to the next day at Capeside High. School has just finished, and everyone is going home. Principal Green is walking in the hallway when Joey goes up to him.
JOEY: Principal Green, hi.
PRINCIPAL GREEN: Hello, Joey. I’m glad to see that you’re feeling better.
JOEY: I am. I’m sorry that I didn’t come see you yesterday, but I had a lot on my mind. I’d just like to say, welcome back.
PRINCIPAL GREEN: It’s good to be back, Joey. I’ll see you tomorrow.
Joey takes a short-cut through the Cafeteria, when Pacey sees her and runs after her.
PACEY: Hey, Potter. Wait up. Please, just listen to me. Look, I know you’re mad at me, and personally, I don’t blame you. It’s just, something weird happened to me yesterday and it’s given me a new perspective on some things. I just want to say, well, I screwed things up pretty bad. I’m not here asking for forgiveness, I just want to say that I’m sorry.
They pause.
JOEY: Are quite finished. Because I have some things I’d like to say. You see, I blamed our breakup on myself. I thought that I had done something wrong. But it’s not my fault, is it. No. It’s your fault. It’s your fault because you don’t know what you want out of life, do you. Maybe it’s because of your father, maybe it’s something else. Just do me a favor, figure it out before you hurt someone else. Because I really don’t want anyone else to go through that.
She starts to walk away.
PACEY: Joey, wait. Are we still friends, or do you not want anything to do with me?
Joey turns around.
JOEY: Bite me, Pacey.
She leaves. A smile creeps across Pacey’s face.
SAVE TONIGHT BEGINS TO PLAY
PACEY: I’ll take that as a ‘yes’.
( Cut to the marina. Joey is walking along the pier when she hears the sound of a motor beside her.)
Go and close
The curtains
'Cause all we need is candle light
You and me
And a bottle of wine
DAWSON: Ahoy there.
(She looks down and sees Dawson siting in his motorboat.)
And I’ll hold you tonight
JOEY: Hey. I just talked with Pacey. You should have seen it, I really told him off.
DAWSON: I did see it. I was there. I heard the entire conversation.
(Joey looks surprised.)
Well we know
I’m going away
And how I wish
I wish it weren’t so
So take this wine
And drink with me
Let’s delay our misery
JOEY: Then why didn’t you say anything? Every single time I’ve been in a situation that I didn’t think I could handle, you’ve been there to bail me out.
DAWSON: Because I knew that you could handle it. I figured that it was time to see exactly how well you did on your own. And I’m glad to see that you did pretty okay. (he pauses) I’m proud of you.
(Joey half-smiles.)
Save tonight
And fight the break of dawn
Come tomorrow
Tomorrow I’ll be gone
Save tonight
And fight the break of dawn
Come tomorrow
Tomorrow I’ll be gone
JOEY: Thanks, Dawson. Say, where are you going.
DAWSON: I don’t really know. I’m not too familiar with Boston, so I hope you know where this art show is.
There’s a log
On the fire
And it burns
Like me for you
Tomorrow comes
With one desire
To take me away
JOEY: What? Dawson, we’re supposed to be at work.
DAWSON: I already talked to my parents, they said we could have the day off. Come on, jump in.
(Joey gets in the boat.)
It ain’t easy
To say good-bye
Darling please
Don’t start to cry
'Cause girl you know I got to go
Oh, and lord, I wish it wasn’t so
JOEY: Dawson, this isn’t really necessary.
DAWSON: Sure it is.
Joey turns to face him.
JOEY: This isn’t like you.
DAWSON: Never let it be said that Dawson Leery cannot be a movie-obsessed, optimistic, do-gooder, and a risk-taking teenager at the same time.
(They look at each other, smiling.)
Tomorrow comes
To take me away
I wish that I
That I could stay
Girl you know I got to go
And lord I wish it wasn’t so
JOEY: I’m starting to like this new side to you.
(Dawson steers the boat off, as they drive towards Boston. The song continues.)
Save tonight
And fight the break of dawn
Come tomorrow
Tomorrow I’ll be gone
Save tonight
And fight the break of dawn
Come tomorrow
Tomorrow I’ll be gone
Tomorrow I’ll be gone
Tomorrow I’ll be gone
(Fade to black.)
(End Credits.)
THE END OF PART IV
Next time on Dawson’s Creek. Dawson goes on a road trip to try and get back into filming, but Joey decides to tag along at the last minute. Why did she change her mind? What does this have to do with Mitch and Principal Green? Plus, Pacey talks to Jen about the mistakes that he’s made. Also, someone’s spying on the McPhee’s.
