Part 9

The next day at school- everybody in Film class...

Teacher: Good morning, class. I hope everybody enjoyed the weekend and that you had fun with your assignment. Maybe even made a new friend. ( she smiles )

She picks up two papers out of a stack... I thought this was kind of neat. Two of you chose the same movie for your assignment. I don't think that has ever happened before when I assigned this project. And what I thought was even more interesting is that it's a classic from the 80's, " ET ". It's nice to know that there is still an appreciation for the oldies, but goodie. ( she smiles )

Dawson and Joey look at each other and smile, Mrs. Behr continues with the class...

Lunchtime- Dawson at a table, Joey comes up to him....

Joey: Hey, Dawson.

Dawson: Hey.

Joey: So, I thought it was pretty funny that we both chose " ET ". Will we ever grow tired of that movie? ( she smiles )

Dawson: Not likely. ( he smiles )

Joey: So, I have some news to share.

Dawson: What?

Joey: After many years, Bessie and Bodie are finally making it official.

Dawson: Oh, that's great, Joey. When is the wedding?

Joey: I don't know yet. It's still in the planning stages. Dawson, I have a favor to ask you.

Dawson: Okay, what is it?

Joey: Do you need any help over at your family's restaurant?

Dawson: Well, it always helps to have more waitresses. Why do you ask?

Joey: Bessie wants me to get a job and I would much rather work for somebody I know instead of having some random job.

Dawson: But I thought you would never work in a restaurant again after your past experience with one. I thought it would bring up bad memories.

Joey: I know, but I'm okay. Really. I would love be honored to work in such a fine dining establishment. ( she smiles )

Dawson: Okay. I'll have to run it by my parents, but I'm sure they would love to have you aboard. ( he smiles )

Joey: Thanks, Dawson. Now, if there is anything I can do for you, just let me know.

Dawson: There is.

Joey: I'm listening. ( she smiles )

Dawson: Teach me about babies. You're an aunt, so I thought you would be an expert on the subject. I want to be a good big brother.

Joey: ( laughs ) You will be, Dawson. But of course I'll help you. You can help me babysit Alexander sometimes. You'll get the hang of it quickly. ( she smiles )

Dawson: Thanks, Joey. ( he smiles )

Andie at a table by herself- Pacey sits down next to her....

Pacey: Hey, Andie. How are you today?

Andie: I feel like I shouldn't be here. I should be with my mom. You know, before she's shipped off to the looney bin.

Pacey: Andie, don't call it that. Of all people, you should understand her situation the most.

Andie: I'm sorry. I'm just mad at the whole thing. Why does my family have to be this way?

Pacey: I don't know, but I do want you to know that I'm here for you. You don't have to be alone.

Andie: Thank you, Pacey, but I think I want to be. You can't keep being my hero. That's not your job anymore. We're not like we used to be. You ended it, remember? You can't just start it up again.

Pacey: Andie, I'm not starting anything. I'm being your friend.

Andie: No, Pacey, it's more than that. It feels like old times and I can't go back to that. ( pause ) You know, I'm not that hungry right now.

She gets up and quickly leaves, Pacey looks surprised at the turn of events....

Pacey: ( to himself ) What the hell just happened here?
