A Fan Fiction story written by Janet Marie Smekar

All characters adapted from the Dukes of Hazzard TV series

Tonight, on the Dukes…Daisy and Enos finally tie the knot but there is an obstacle before they can go through with it. Will they get past it to get to the altar on time?

Daisy was alone in the quiet house since the death of Uncle Jesse. The house now belonged to the Duke cousin trio.

Daisy started a job as magazine writer for several science and environment magazines. She worked at home on her laptop and sent her articles by e-mail. In her spare time, she kept up the Duke home. Bo and Luke maintained the 40 acres, and did odd jobs to earn extra money. Bo had retired as a race car driver and had plenty of money in savings. Luke decided to stop working as a senior smoke jumper when the farm was going to be sold.

Daisy was working on her thesis article when she heard the familiar sound of the "Dixie

horn". It was her cousins Bo and Luke back home from their fence repair work.

"Hey Daisy!" Bo said as he was taking off his sweaty shirt, "What’s for dinner?"

"Crawdad Bisque", Daisy said.

Luke walked in as Daisy was placing the pot on the table. Bo and Luke went to wash and change their sweaty clothes. Then they joined Daisy at the table for the blessing. Daisy served the bisque with some of Aunt Lavinia’s bread. Aunt Lavinia was Uncle Jesse’s beloved wife who died when the cousins were young children. She left all of her recipes to Uncle Jesse who became a great cook.

As they were eating, a black car pulled up next to the General Lee and Dixie. A man came walking up the walk and knocked on the front door. Bo got up to answer the door.

"Hey Y’all!" said Enos Strate, who came back to Hazzard after a tour of duty in L.A.

Daisy ran with Luke to the living room and gave Enos a big bear hug. It had been several years since they nearly married after the last race that Uncle Jesse was at before he died. Enos never forgot Daisy, in fact he always wrote her letters, but now he sent them faithfully 2 times a week.

"Come join us for supper" Daisy said.

"Much obliged", Enos said as he followed the Dukes to the dining area to enjoy the bisque and bread. Luke and Bo cleaned up the table so that Daisy and Enos could go for a walk to catch up on old times.

"I really missed you Daisy. I am still waiting for you to grow up. I am still in love with you." Enos confessed in a heartsick voice.

"I feel the same Enos, I just wished L.D. didn’t show up at the last time we tried to get married." Daisy responded.

Enos and Daisy went to the creek. Enos pulled a red box out of his pocket. He got down on 1 knee, and asked, "Daisy Duke, will you marry me, again?"

Daisy said in a excited voice, "Yes, Enos!!!" and they kissed.

The pair held hands as they walked back to the house. A strange man in black grabbed Daisy.

"Let go of her!" Enos yelled. "Bo, Luke!!!"

Luke and Bo ran out of the house as the brown car drove off with Daisy in it yelling for her life. Bo realized it was L.D., Daisy’s ex husband. He was kidnapping Daisy because he found out that Enos had returned to Hazzard to marry his long time love.

Luke, Bo, and Enos climbed into the General Lee quickly and started to chase L.D. They got near the car but another man with L.D. starting to shoot at the tires. During the chase, Cletus started chasing the General Lee. Then the other man succeeded in shooting out the tire. Bo stopped the car then he climbed out to survey the damage.

Cletus started to write a speeding ticket for Bo when Luke confronted Cletus. They told him that L.D. kidnapped Daisy. Cletus didn’t believe him so he forced Bo, Luke, and Enos into his car and took them to jail.

Boss Rosco was waiting with another bogus charge for the Duke boys.

"I charge you with kidnapping my dog and Daisy", Rosco said.

Bo talked Rosco into a phone call. He called Cooter at his house and he agreed to bail out the boys. Meanwhile, Luke snookered Cletus into needing to go to the bathroom. He ran out of the courthouse to Cooter’s waiting truck.

Meanwhile, Daisy was tied up at L.D’s hideout. He was furious with Daisy for leaving him and nearly marrying Enos. He and his partner did not know that Bo, Luke, and Enos were coming back to get Daisy.

They took off after L.D. and Daisy. They found them at Boss Hogg’s old hideout on the creek. Daisy was roped up while L.D. and the man named Jim waited for dark to come to take off with Daisy.

Luke, Bo, Enos, and Cooter busted into the hideout to try to free Daisy. The men fought furiously to no avail. Instead, L.D. took off with a tied up Daisy. Luke and Cooter had set a revenuer trap to get L.D. A huge net caught him, and Luke & Cooter were able to free Daisy.

Luke carried a relieved Daisy to Cooter’s truck. They drove back to town where a still holed up Enos and Bo were waiting. Cletus then let them out of jail after Daisy faked a fainting spell. Then they took off for Cooter’s garage.

Daisy explained that her ex-husband wanted to get back at her for nearly marrying Enos after the car race a few years early. A still shaking Daisy was being held by Enos, while the Dukes were planning to get L.D. to confess. Then he could go to jail.

The next day, the Duke boys tailed him to the hideout. Disguised as 2 ugly women, Luke and Bo with "bugs" in their clothes went to see L.D. and got him to confess on tape.

The boys returned to the hideout, told the good news to Cooter, Daisy, and Enos. Then they took the tape to Cletus and Rosco who took a long time to believe the boys. Then L.D. walked in the jail area to fight the Duke boys. But the Duke boys were too much for L.D. Then L.D. was tossed in jail to await transport to Chickasaw by mean Sheriff Little who hated crime, the Dukes, and Rosco in no particular order.

Daisy told her cousins that Enos again proposed, and she accepted. They were all happy for her and Enos. They gave the couple big hugs. Then Daisy and Enos made a few phone calls to inform all of the news.

Sheriff Little pulled up to take L.D. and his partner to Chickasaw. It was the last of L.D. for Daisy since he was not to come back ever. Then Daisy and Enos asked Rosco to marry them for real this time.

"Third time is the charm", the happy couple said.

Rosco rushed the marriage license through city hall then agreed to marry them the same day. Daisy asked Maybelle and Bertha Jo to be her honor attendants, and they came by in their work clothes. Boss’s widow, Lulu would give the bride away. Enos asked the Duke boys and Cooter to be his "best men".

The town gathered at the gazebo where the happy couple dressed in jeans walked up to the justice of the peace, Rosco. Rosco asked Daisy and Enos to stand before him in the gazebo. In front of a few family and friends, they made it official.

"Dearly beloved…" Roscoe said in the familiar words of the wedding ceremony.

"Do you Enos Strate, take this woman? Do you Daisy Duke, take this man?" Rosco began to say.

Enos and Daisy said, "I do."

"Daisy, you are worth the wait. You’ve made me the happiest man in Hazzard. I will let nothin’ come between us now." Enos said as he placed an antique diamond and pearl ring on Daisy’s finger.

"Enos, you are the only man I have truly loved, and ever will love. Where you go, I go." Daisy said, choking back tears of happiness as she slipped a plain gold wedding band on Enos’ finger.

"I present Mr. and Mrs. Enos Strate" Rosco said proudly as the couple kissed.

They went to the Boar’s Nest for a night of eating, drinking, and dancing. The couple’s 1st dance was to "You’re still the one" by Shania Twain. It seemed to fit the couple who waited 30 years too long to get hitched. They proved to everyone they belonged together regardless of what others said.

Enos and Daisy were deliriously happy. They received the congratulations of the town that were so happy to hear they made it official.

The newlyweds spent their wedding night at the Hazzard Hotel. Then Enos took Daisy to Atlanta for a honeymoon then they would return to Hazzard. The boys agreed to give the newlyweds space so they took up the duties of the farm and work on odd jobs.

BALLADEER: Another Hazzard happy ending. Bo and Luke still remain Hazzard’s most eligible bachelors. Rosco still hasn’t taken a wife. Finally, the oldest virgin in Hazzard got hitched to his sweetheart. What a way to end this story!
