Three months after recovering from his confrontation with Bobby Cole, Chase McDonald returns to the force, and he and August are immediately on the trail of a serial killer. Dubbed "the Cat Man," he leaves a small porcelain cat at the scene of each murder. But as the detectives dig deeper and finally get the break they've been waiting for, they discover that the latest victims may have been killed by a copycat, one with motives far from those of the real killer.
